- 0:00Speaker 1: Today's show is pre recorded. Y'all know what time y'all
- 0:05Speaker 1: don't know. Y'all all looking back to back down, giving
- 0:13Speaker 1: them like a million bucks things and it's not true.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Good Steve Hartley, Joy, you gotta use that turn out.
- 1:24Speaker 1: You gotta turn to turn them out. Love, got to
- 1:44Speaker 1: turn out to turn the water the water. Come come
- 1:58Speaker 1: on your bad huh, I sure will. Good morning everybody.
- 2:04Speaker 1: You're listening to the voice, come on dig me now,
- 2:07Speaker 1: want it on? It's Steve Harvey. Man oh Man, got
- 2:10Speaker 1: a radio show, yo. Trying to make it work too.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I'm not trying. I'm I'm getting it. I'm getting it
- 2:17Speaker 1: done to the best of my abilities. Now. Something funny
- 2:22Speaker 1: my father taught me. He said, son, when you've done
- 2:26Speaker 1: all you can do, if you've done your absolute best
- 2:32Speaker 1: and you look up and it didn't get the job done,
- 2:37Speaker 1: take a deep breath and do some more. That used
- 2:42Speaker 1: to bug me, man, when my father used to tell me.
- 2:45Speaker 1: That's the son, when you've done your absolute best and
- 2:48Speaker 1: you think you can't do no more, You've done all
- 2:52Speaker 1: you can and it still don't get the job done.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Take yourself a deep breath and do some more. And
- 3:02Speaker 1: you know what, I found that has worked every single time,
- 3:07Speaker 1: every single time, because what my father knew was that
- 3:14Speaker 1: what you think is your breaking point or what you
- 3:18Speaker 1: think is your all at all, he says, son, it's
- 3:21Speaker 1: just something about it. Man, if you just gather yourself,
- 3:26Speaker 1: you got a little bit more. Everybody got some more.
- 3:32Speaker 1: And you know, I gotta be honest with you. It
- 3:35Speaker 1: has worked. It has helped me greatly, and you know it.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Everybody does have some more. You know. I tell that
- 3:44Speaker 1: to my sons all the time with the idea of
- 3:46Speaker 1: my best. Well, I manage to something else. Could you
- 3:49Speaker 1: have done anything else? Could you have studied a little harder,
- 3:52Speaker 1: Could you have shown up a little bit earlier, could
- 3:55Speaker 1: you stayed a little bit later? Yeah, well then okay
- 4:01Speaker 1: that's what you should have done. Then see, that's always
- 4:04Speaker 1: a way. But if you're going to create excuses, if
- 4:08Speaker 1: you're gonna make them up all the time about why
- 4:10Speaker 1: you don't get it done, I have a very very
- 4:12Speaker 1: sad statement for you right now. You're never gonna get
- 4:19Speaker 1: anything done. You're never gonna get to the top. Not
- 4:22Speaker 1: to the top. You can get halfway up, now, you
- 4:26Speaker 1: can get a third of the way up. You can
- 4:27Speaker 1: get three quarters of the way up. But if you
- 4:30Speaker 1: don't have that little extra reserve in you, you're not
- 4:33Speaker 1: getting to the top. The top is only reserved for
- 4:37Speaker 1: those that have the wherewithal and the power to desire,
- 4:43Speaker 1: the drive and the gut wrenching effort to get to
- 4:49Speaker 1: the top. The top is reserved only for the top.
- 4:53Speaker 1: It's just the top. There ain't but one top, then
- 4:55Speaker 1: the middle done it ain't it? You know, the top,
- 4:58Speaker 1: the top of the mountain. Half. It's a different view
- 5:01Speaker 1: at the top. Things look different from up top. So
- 5:05Speaker 1: if you want to get to the top of whatever
- 5:08Speaker 1: your profession, your field, your career, whatever it is, you
- 5:14Speaker 1: got to do extra. You have to do more. More
- 5:19Speaker 1: is expected of you. More, but his what's really crazy,
- 5:22Speaker 1: More is required of you. Don't live your life in
- 5:27Speaker 1: the lackadaisical state. Don't wake up every day with the
- 5:31Speaker 1: feeling of, well, you know, whatever happens happens, nah, man,
- 5:36Speaker 1: have us say so in your life you. First of all,
- 5:39Speaker 1: let me ask you something. Who has God named the
- 5:44Speaker 1: person that God has given authority over You named the person?
- 5:50Speaker 1: But who is the person? Nobody has domain over you?
- 5:54Speaker 1: God didn't create that person. So what you're sitting here
- 5:58Speaker 1: for Man, what are you sitting here for letting people
- 6:02Speaker 1: who do not know direct your path? Why are you
- 6:06Speaker 1: worried about all these people with what they got to
- 6:09Speaker 1: say about you and all these people with what they
- 6:11Speaker 1: got to think about you? When here's the news flash,
- 6:14Speaker 1: they don't know either. All these people that you overly
- 6:19Speaker 1: concerned about, all these people that you go into these
- 6:24Speaker 1: answers for, they need answers to stop. What are you
- 6:30Speaker 1: doing here? Gather yourself for a minute. Here is a
- 6:34Speaker 1: solution to all of that. You have one source that
- 6:38Speaker 1: will be there for you to the end of time,
- 6:41Speaker 1: and that is your relationship with God. That is the
- 6:45Speaker 1: one thing that's solid and for show. He's behind the all.
- 6:50Speaker 1: He's in your jail cell. He rides with you in
- 6:53Speaker 1: the police car. He's with you on your job up
- 6:55Speaker 1: at school. He's down there in the board meetings with you.
- 6:59Speaker 1: He goes with you when you travel on planes. He
- 7:02Speaker 1: sits with you when you're in a relationship. He helps
- 7:05Speaker 1: you with your parents and skills. He helps you. He's
- 7:08Speaker 1: there to assist you. He shows if you do the
- 7:11Speaker 1: right things, he show you and guide you to your
- 7:13Speaker 1: next job. When you lose your job, and you think
- 7:15Speaker 1: it's a rap ah. There's some good behind him. Man,
- 7:19Speaker 1: God is always working on your behalf. To those that
- 7:22Speaker 1: believe you, just gotta believe. He won't ask you for
- 7:25Speaker 1: nothing else. Believe in me. That's all he asks you
- 7:28Speaker 1: to do. What you're tripping for. Man, And then when
- 7:31Speaker 1: you make the decision to believe in him, and it
- 7:34Speaker 1: comes out your mouth from time to time somewhere what
- 7:37Speaker 1: you're worried about, what people say, What you're worried about,
- 7:40Speaker 1: what they think for? Why who are they? They need
- 7:43Speaker 1: God to you? You're telling them you found something new
- 7:47Speaker 1: that you're gonna give this a shot right here now.
- 7:49Speaker 1: They got some yang ying yang and some yakety yact
- 7:51Speaker 1: to say about that when they need God too. That's
- 7:55Speaker 1: what amazes me, man about people sit up in here, man,
- 7:58Speaker 1: be knocking your dream into Look, if you're an atheist, man,
- 8:01Speaker 1: do your thing, do your thing. But you can't create
- 8:04Speaker 1: no laws where I can't do mine. That don't make
- 8:07Speaker 1: no sense, man, that makes no sense at all to me.
- 8:12Speaker 1: You have the right to go be whatever you want
- 8:14Speaker 1: to be. You know if you don't, you don't like
- 8:17Speaker 1: the fact that I'm in school, you got my head
- 8:19Speaker 1: biled down, and I'm saying a prayer for I take
- 8:21Speaker 1: this test. Just don't buy your head. Don't you pray.
- 8:25Speaker 1: But if some kids want to get to gout, that
- 8:26Speaker 1: that's some crazy mass. That's what happened in our schools.
- 8:29Speaker 1: We took prayer out of schools. Now look at our schools.
- 8:33Speaker 1: You send your child to school and and someone else
- 8:36Speaker 1: comes back home. That's a whole other thing right here.
- 8:40Speaker 1: That's not what I want to talk to you about.
- 8:43Speaker 1: But I was just throwing it out because you know, hey, man,
- 8:46Speaker 1: your relationship with God is essential to your success as
- 8:49Speaker 1: a person. It's essential to your existence. It's essential to
- 8:52Speaker 1: where you're trying to go and what you're trying to be.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Because He made you. Why would you not talk to
- 8:59Speaker 1: the person made you to find out what he created
- 9:02Speaker 1: you for. Ain't talking about your parents, who made your parents?
- 9:08Speaker 1: This is God, we created in his image. Why would
- 9:10Speaker 1: you not talk to your maker to see why you
- 9:13Speaker 1: got made? That? Don't that don't make sense to you?
- 9:18Speaker 1: If you're sitting and gotten yourself in a situation, you're
- 9:21Speaker 1: sitting in the jail cell somewhere, you locked up, you
- 9:24Speaker 1: doing some time, man, be a good time for you
- 9:27Speaker 1: to reflect. But whatever your situation is, Man, God can
- 9:31Speaker 1: get you through it. He can give you the strength,
- 9:33Speaker 1: the courage to wherewithal the understanding everything you need, the
- 9:38Speaker 1: wisdom to get you through anything you're going through. You
- 9:40Speaker 1: just got a touch base with him. I need God
- 9:45Speaker 1: every single day of my life and what He's done
- 9:50Speaker 1: for me. Man off the chain. But guess what you'll
- 9:55Speaker 1: do the same thing for you. You're listening tow How

- 21:10Speaker 1: I saw something black. I saw something definitely traumatic go on,
- 21:16Speaker 1: and it changed my thought process. I saw some coffee
- 21:20Speaker 1: wasted Starbucks, and it decided pushed me actually into writing limericks.

- 29:11Speaker 1: This is my reaction listening to Shirley Murdock's As We Laid.
- 29:15Speaker 1: This is the reason I'm ticked off, because this happened
- 29:18Speaker 1: to me in the eighties. I was at a girl's
- 29:21Speaker 1: house all night long, and I don't know why Shirley
- 29:23Speaker 1: thought on necessary write a damn song about such a
- 29:26Speaker 1: bad memory for cute eight hundred miss call morning and
- 29:41Speaker 1: we left the night. Now we get back. Yes we

- 31:23Speaker 1: hanging on to mine the price we had to pay.
- 31:41Speaker 1: No up in this daylight. I can't find my drawls,
- 31:46Speaker 1: stay down my shoe in the kitchen. I don't know
- 31:53Speaker 1: where my ties jacket turned inside out. I'm trying to
- 32:02Speaker 1: get to this car. What is you saying about my wife? Folk?
- 32:13Speaker 1: I handled when you met me. You don't want to

- 32:46Speaker 1: You forgot about cars? Your funking? You know counts a
- 32:55Speaker 1: You ain't got to deal with the cars. I know
- 32:57Speaker 1: one got drivers here and explained it that there's nothing
- 33:04Speaker 1: like Tommy Saytan eight hundred miss owned calls, seventy nine texts,
- 33:13Speaker 1: all of them from he you better be dead. I'm

- 34:09Speaker 1: to have no draws. It's definitely old women. You can't
- 34:11Speaker 1: even lame that university. Why is your drolls? See what?
- 34:18Speaker 1: I'm not taking the pants off? If I ain't got
- 34:20Speaker 1: no draws on the pants stay on a night? Where
- 34:23Speaker 1: are they? Though? I didn't I didn't wear no How
- 34:26Speaker 1: did you misplace them over there? I was toilet at
- 34:30Speaker 1: the airport and I didn't make it. I had a
- 34:36Speaker 1: little accident on them. So I just love them in
- 34:42Speaker 1: Stop you're lying. It's time to get out of here.
- 34:45Speaker 1: We lie, we lie. You're listening Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 34:53Speaker 1: It is time to ask the CLO the chief Love Officer,
- 34:56Speaker 1: Steve Harvey. This one's from Millicent in New Orleans. She said,
- 35:00Speaker 1: I'm thirty years old and my dad came in my
- 35:02Speaker 1: life six years ago. My dad was already married when
- 35:05Speaker 1: my mom got pregnant with me, so I grew up
- 35:08Speaker 1: without him in my life. I met his wife a
- 35:11Speaker 1: few months after I reconnected with him. His wife explained
- 35:15Speaker 1: how my dad kept me as a secret for years
- 35:17Speaker 1: because my mom was a one night stand. After he'd
- 35:20Speaker 1: been drinking one night. I was furious because my dad
- 35:25Speaker 1: was with my mom for four years and they went
- 35:28Speaker 1: on trips together, and he was in the delivery room
- 35:31Speaker 1: when I was born. Should I show his wife the receipts?
- 35:35Speaker 1: Or should I let it go? Not the well walk.
- 35:47Speaker 1: She wants to have a story to tell that makes
- 35:50Speaker 1: her feel adequate for some reason. Cause to come and
- 35:54Speaker 1: meet a young woman who hasn't had a relationship with
- 35:57Speaker 1: her father in twenty four years, and that's the story
- 36:00Speaker 1: you want to tell. You would kept the secret because
- 36:03Speaker 1: you are one night stand. I mean, come on, lady,
- 36:06Speaker 1: what's what's your purpose for trying to mess this young
- 36:10Speaker 1: lady's up relationship up like that? That's foul within itself. Now,
- 36:15Speaker 1: with that being said, do you return the foulness that
- 36:21Speaker 1: she put out? Too wrong? I don't think so. I
- 36:26Speaker 1: think you should take the high road. I think the
- 36:29Speaker 1: important thing for here is for you to have for
- 36:32Speaker 1: whatever relationship you can have with your dad. Me and
- 36:35Speaker 1: make a lot of mistakes. I make mistakes as a
- 36:37Speaker 1: young man myself. Me and make mistakes and have the
- 36:41Speaker 1: right to get it right and recover. What she didn't
- 36:44Speaker 1: have the right to do was coming here and bust
- 36:46Speaker 1: your bubble with all that information that she should have
- 36:49Speaker 1: played the bigger woman. But because she not a big woman,
- 36:53Speaker 1: don't mean you shouldn't be either. I think that God
- 36:56Speaker 1: would keep you in a better place if you take
- 36:58Speaker 1: the high road myself. That's what I would suggest. But
- 37:02Speaker 1: you know, if you're one of them days and you're
- 37:05Speaker 1: just feeling funky, go ahead, go ahead. You know good advice,
- 37:11Speaker 1: Steve that thank you? Now I have for you. What's
- 37:15Speaker 1: the one night staying right right? All right? Moving on?
- 37:19Speaker 1: This one's from Verna in White Plains in New York.
- 37:21Speaker 1: She says, I've been married for fourteen years and I
- 37:24Speaker 1: love my husband dearly. But he stinks. He's in shape,
- 37:30Speaker 1: he has a healthy diet, but he smells like hot garbage.
- 37:34Speaker 1: He needs to take one of those allergy exams, those
- 37:38Speaker 1: that tells you what your body is allergic to. It's
- 37:42Speaker 1: a test that you can take and you find out
- 37:44Speaker 1: if you your body doesn't respond well. The gluten is
- 37:47Speaker 1: something and it could be something that's subscreting out of
- 37:50Speaker 1: his body that just don't agree with him, but he
- 37:52Speaker 1: doing it anyway, and the way it comes out is
- 37:54Speaker 1: through his pose. He stake coming out more of the
- 37:57Speaker 1: Steve Harvey Morning Show right after this. You're listening Steve
- 38:01Speaker 1: Harpy Morning Show. All right, Steve, your man, your boy
- 38:08Speaker 1: in nineteen eighty six. As you told us earlier, Jay
- 38:15Speaker 1: Brow and Heavily, you're not staying here though, Junior and Tommy,
- 38:20Speaker 1: all you guys are here for what you say. What
- 38:23Speaker 1: you say you're gonna do. You tell them Jay, what
- 38:25Speaker 1: you say. You know everybody dropped running about this time.
- 38:28Speaker 1: People make plans or I'm gonna do this. It's gonna
- 38:30Speaker 1: be a new year. I'm gonna start off friend. Yeah,
- 38:33Speaker 1: but I got it right here. What you say you're
- 38:34Speaker 1: gonna do and what you're really gonna do. Now, you

- 38:41Speaker 1: what you're gonna do is joining membership, go one day
- 38:44Speaker 1: with your big ass and then you're gonna complain that
- 38:47Speaker 1: jeans is nasty and you ain't going back. That's what
- 38:50Speaker 1: you don't do. That's what you're really gonna do. What
- 38:52Speaker 1: you really don't do. You say you're gonna say some
- 38:55Speaker 1: money this, Yeah, that's what you say you donna do.
- 38:58Speaker 1: I'm saying the money saving you didn't save about five
- 39:01Speaker 1: hundred as soon as that sale come around. It's all.
- 39:07Speaker 1: That's what you say you're gonna do. But what you're
- 39:09Speaker 1: really gonna do. You say you're gonna be nicer to
- 39:12Speaker 1: your mother in law. You're gonna call on the phone
- 39:15Speaker 1: trying to be nice. You're gonna fig about three minutes
- 39:18Speaker 1: into this damn conversation it ain't worth tupping her ass
- 39:22Speaker 1: at all. That's what you say you're gonna do. And
- 39:27Speaker 1: what you're gonna do, ladies, you said everything. I'm getting
- 39:31Speaker 1: rid of him. He's useless, he ain't no good, he
- 39:34Speaker 1: ain't doing number taking me down, and I'm gonna be
- 39:37Speaker 1: about me this year. But what you're gonna do is
- 39:40Speaker 1: let him hit it one more time and then you're
- 39:42Speaker 1: gonna break it up. That's what I wasn't expecting that time.
- 39:55Speaker 1: Gonna do that? What you're really gonna do? You say,
- 39:59Speaker 1: I'm gonna stop smoking that stuff. I ain't smoking no
- 40:02Speaker 1: mote because it ain't good for you. But you're gonna
- 40:06Speaker 1: look at that big stash you got of this when
- 40:08Speaker 1: I got to clean that up. I got to get

- 52:54Speaker 1: us buckle up, hold on tight, we got it. Call
- 52:56Speaker 1: you here. It is the Strawberry Letter. That's right. Let
- 53:00Speaker 1: us know your problem subject. I want a man, a
- 53:03Speaker 1: real man, not this man. Dear Stephen Shirley. I have
- 53:08Speaker 1: been married to my husband for thirteen years, but we
- 53:11Speaker 1: have been together for a total of twenty three years.
- 53:14Speaker 1: We have one son, and my husband is a great
- 53:17Speaker 1: provider for our family. I am, however, concerned about the
- 53:22Speaker 1: example of manhood that he is displaying for our son.
- 53:26Speaker 1: My husband is non confrontational, so we haven't argued in years.
- 53:31Speaker 1: If we have a disagreement, he will disagree with me
- 53:34Speaker 1: to avoid conflict. He's always eager to help others, and
- 53:38Speaker 1: he does favors for his family members all the time,
- 53:41Speaker 1: even if he is not feeling up to it. He
- 53:44Speaker 1: rarely gets frustrated or raises his voice. He is also
- 53:48Speaker 1: very pleasant at work, and he has been overlooked for
- 53:51Speaker 1: promotions because he won't be more certive and speak up
- 53:54Speaker 1: for himself. He is always concerned about what other people
- 53:58Speaker 1: think of him, and he never ever wants to upset
- 54:01Speaker 1: his coworkers or the few friends we have. His behavior
- 54:05Speaker 1: is a huge turn off, and quite frankly, I've had
- 54:08Speaker 1: it with mister nice guy. I want my husband to
- 54:12Speaker 1: be my rock and my protector, but instead I wear
- 54:16Speaker 1: the pants in our household. The situation is getting worse
- 54:19Speaker 1: as he gets older and more complacent. I would love
- 54:23Speaker 1: to hear him say I got this baby and take charge,
- 54:27Speaker 1: but that hasn't happened in years. I also want him
- 54:30Speaker 1: to take charge in the bedroom so I don't always
- 54:32Speaker 1: have to initiate intimacy. When we spend time as a family,
- 54:37Speaker 1: I make the decisions on what we will do, and
- 54:39Speaker 1: I always drive us around. So far, my attempts to
- 54:44Speaker 1: talk to him have not worked at all. So how
- 54:47Speaker 1: can I get him to understand that he needs to
- 54:50Speaker 1: man up without insulting him. Please advise. All right, give
- 54:57Speaker 1: me a moment here, but I'm trying to figure out
- 54:59Speaker 1: what's really going on here and what you're really upset about.
- 55:03Speaker 1: I mean, thirteen years of marriage. You say he's a
- 55:06Speaker 1: great provider, he's always eager to help others, he's non confrontational.
- 55:10Speaker 1: You guys haven't argued in years. He doesn't raise his voice,
- 55:14Speaker 1: and in your words, he's a mister nice guy. I mean,
- 55:17Speaker 1: you guys have been together for twenty three years. Surely
- 55:21Speaker 1: you knew he was kind of like a people pleasing
- 55:23Speaker 1: kind of a guy. You know, cared about what people
- 55:26Speaker 1: thought of him, helpful guy, this non assertive person that
- 55:30Speaker 1: you talk about in the letter, especially back in the
- 55:33Speaker 1: day when you married him. That was thirteen years ago.
- 55:36Speaker 1: Bottom line, you have a problem with this now. I
- 55:40Speaker 1: guess you're growing and perhaps he's still the same or
- 55:43Speaker 1: something you want him to change, and your attempt to
- 55:45Speaker 1: talk to him it's fallen on deaf ears. He's getting worse,
- 55:49Speaker 1: you say in your opinions since you get older. I mean,
- 55:53Speaker 1: I can only suggest at this point, since you guys
- 55:55Speaker 1: are kind of had an impasse. You want things one
- 55:59Speaker 1: way and he's doing it the way he's been doing it,
- 56:02Speaker 1: and you want to change. You know, I gotta suggest
- 56:04Speaker 1: some counseling for you guys to get over this situation.
- 56:10Speaker 1: And when you do talk to him, how are you
- 56:13Speaker 1: talking to him? I mean, is it a way that
- 56:15Speaker 1: you're turning him off? You're turning him off? Are you
- 56:19Speaker 1: nagging him? What are you? What are you doing? You
- 56:21Speaker 1: know in this situation. I'm not blaming you, I'm just
- 56:24Speaker 1: asking a question. I would definitely contract contact a marriage
- 56:28Speaker 1: counselor though though to try and help you guys get
- 56:31Speaker 1: through the situation together together. All right, that's my answer, Steve.
- 56:37Speaker 1: Nice answer, Shirley, really good, well thought out. You've given
- 56:40Speaker 1: out good advice. I would recommend therapy too, but I
- 56:44Speaker 1: never do know and I'm not finished out today. We
- 56:48Speaker 1: can work this out, as pope. People who don't have
- 56:51Speaker 1: money fuck therapy. So now what you need is a
- 56:55Speaker 1: therapeutic conversation, ahen to get to you right now. I've
- 57:02Speaker 1: been married to my husband thirteen years. We've been together
- 57:04Speaker 1: twenty three, we got one son. Now here's a compliment.
- 57:08Speaker 1: Your husband's a great provider. I'm however, concerned about the
- 57:12Speaker 1: example of manhood that he's displaying to my son. I
- 57:17Speaker 1: pumped the brakes. My question to you is this, you're
- 57:21Speaker 1: concerned about the level of manhood he's displaying to your son.
- 57:26Speaker 1: What level of manhood did he display to you to
- 57:30Speaker 1: make you staye for twenty three years. Let's back up now, lady,
- 57:36Speaker 1: you talking to somebody who thinks these studdings out. I am, however,
- 57:40Speaker 1: concerned about the example. My husband is non confrontational, so
- 57:45Speaker 1: we haven't argued in years. Wait a minute, you're writing
- 57:48Speaker 1: a letter of complaint because you and your husband has
- 57:51Speaker 1: an argued in years. Okay, let's mark that down. If
- 57:58Speaker 1: we have a disagreement, he would just agree with me
- 58:00Speaker 1: to avoid conflict. So you mean to tell me you're
- 58:04Speaker 1: writing a letter because you keep getting your way. Okay,
- 58:09Speaker 1: let's mark that down now. He's always eager to help others,
- 58:14Speaker 1: and he does favors for his family members all the time.
- 58:19Speaker 1: Excuse me, you're writing a letter because you're married to
- 58:22Speaker 1: a good, a nice man. Okay, let's write that down.
- 58:27Speaker 1: Even if he's not filling up to it. He rallied.
- 58:30Speaker 1: He wait, he'll help people if he don't feel like it.
- 58:34Speaker 1: This is what we're complaining about. I just want y'all
- 58:36Speaker 1: to hit it. He rarely gets frustrated or raises his voice.
- 58:41Speaker 1: You mean he's an actual calming force at his house
- 58:47Speaker 1: and on his job. I'm just I want y'all to
- 58:50Speaker 1: hill with this woman to say. He is also very
- 58:54Speaker 1: pleasant at work. I'll be damned if you don't get
- 59:00Speaker 1: down there and start acting like a butthole on that job,
- 59:05Speaker 1: having everybody like you. All right, coming up Part two
- 59:09Speaker 1: of Steve's response to this letter, I want a real man,
- 59:13Speaker 1: not this man. We'll be back at twenty three after
- 59:15Speaker 1: the hour you're listening. Let's recap today's Strawberry Letters, Steve,
- 59:23Speaker 1: and get back to your response subject, I want a
- 59:25Speaker 1: real man, not this man. This woman just being complaining
- 59:30Speaker 1: about her husband because he's non confrontation. They ain't arguing
- 59:34Speaker 1: in years. They're having agreed a disagreement. He had just
- 59:38Speaker 1: agree with her to avoid the conflict. He's eager to
- 59:41Speaker 1: help other people do family for his new favors for
- 59:44Speaker 1: his families and friends, even if he don't want to.
- 59:47Speaker 1: He rarely gets frustrated or raises his voice. He's also
- 59:50Speaker 1: very pleasant at work and he's been overlooked for promotion
- 59:52Speaker 1: because he won't be more assertive and speak up for himself.
- 59:55Speaker 1: Maybe that ain't the reason. He's also concerned about what
- 59:58Speaker 1: other people think of him. Want some set this co
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: workers on a few friends. We do have him and
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: y'all got friends, probably because he's such a nice guy.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: Right here's where the letter turned ugly. His behavior is
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: a huge turn off. So now she's not attracted to
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: him anymore. And quite frankly, I've had it with mister
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: nice guy. See what she wanted somebody coming in there
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: in ass whipping mode. I want somebody coming in here
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: taking over furniture. Well what do you want? You want
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: somebody come in the house and ask for more? Where
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: so he just walking in the house as ready made conflict,
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: wants to start arguments. Don't want to agree with nothing
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: you say. You want a man to quit giving you
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: your way? You won't opposition, See you crazy? Now what
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: you're saying is I've had it with mister knice guy
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: that I've never heard. I've had it with mister knights.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: See you ain't tracked to it. Y'all probably ain't having
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: sex no more. None of this the situation that gets
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: worse as he getting older and more complacent. I would
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: love to him say I got this baby and take charge.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: This ain't happening years. I also want him take charge
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: in the bedroom so I don't have to do all
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: that initiate intimates man week time as a family, I
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: make decision what we do or where we go who.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: I always drive us around. So far my attempts to
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: talk to him and not worked out at all. How
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: could I get him to understand he needs a man
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: up without him selling him? Please say about he don't
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: want to wait a minute in the letter to me,
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: I always drive us around, Always drive because you're jumping
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: in you jumping behind the wheel, Joe boss as I
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: tell you what's wrong? Yeah, let me tell you. Whatever
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: you wear, the pass and the family take him off.
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: I think the man tie to you. I really do
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: you sound exhausting to me? He ain't arguing with you
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: no more. He ain't getting in no conflict, so you
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: no more. I think you run your mouth at the
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: house all the time. I think you complain a lot
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: because you don't got sick of him, so you don't
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: wrote a letter. Any woman gets sick of a man,
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: she gonna voice it in the marriage. You ain't just
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: sitting that widely seething. You keep telling me about itself? Right?
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: And and how when did he get like this? The
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: older he get the worst he getting. He sounded like
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: a cool guy to me. Damn what you want? But
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: see here's what didn't happen. Has he changed? Maybe? But
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: let me ask counseling. Did she change too? And I
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: think what didn't happened is is the people that you
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: all have become. Y'all don't like each other no more.
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: It's called growing a part. See what used to be
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: okay with you is now on your nerves. You married
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: the man probably because he was kind, he was non conflict.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: He gave you your weight, he took care of you.
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: It was great provider. I bet that's why you married him.
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: Now all of a sudden you tied to that. And
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: I didn't understand the woman that don't want a good guy?
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: Damn what you what you want to happen? Here? So
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: let's have a re enactment. Jane, were you the woman,
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: I'm the guy. Let's go here. We go first of
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: where you been? Oh, I just can't you mean when
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: we've been I've been sitting here. I don't have waiting
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: on you enough. Where you've been, just been trying to
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: get to you, trying to get to me. Who I'm here?
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: You know where I'm at? What you mean you're trying
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: to get to me? You know where I'm at? You left,

- 1:03:16Speaker 1: here waiting on you. Where have you been? What'll take you?
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: I know how long it take you to get home?
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: I know the round you take. I know did you

- 1:03:40Speaker 1: Why I need know why they didn't know where you are?
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: And tell me why I'm waiting? Why do you think
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: I'm waiting? Why do you think I was driving too slow? No? No, no?
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: Where were you and didn't answer? Why am I waiting?
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: Go ahead, answer that I was in the car dropping
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: my waiting And then the answer. You know I don't
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: like to answer me. Why am I waiting? And why
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: are you where you've been. I need to know all
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: of those three questions right now. Baby, I can't. I
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: can't answer quick. You won't let me. Have you been?
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: Why am I waiting? And why I just told you?
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: Why am I asking you these questions? I need to know, baby,
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: don't be mad. I'm like, man, sound like I'm mad?
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: Do I sound like I'm mad? No? Do you know
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: what I'm mad? My bad? Let me stop being mad?
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: O your man? Now I was mad? Now I was mad.
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: Now you're mad because you being mad? Because you being mad? Oh,
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: I'm man. I want to know why you take so
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: long to get home? And why do you want me
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: to tell you? Do you want me to tell you?
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: Tell me? I can't stay in your fucking as. I'm
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: tired of your ass at the time. I can't not

- 1:05:01Speaker 1: That's a nice guy. Yeah, come on, I ain't what
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: she won't she won't do? Sheal you rarely get frustrated
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: and raise your voice. I knew this was coming. I
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: knew it. My mama did. Well. You know all strawberry
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: letters don't end happy. Put your own feelings. Surely get
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: your part all right, listen, we gotta get out of here.
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: Please email us her instagram 's your thoughts on today's
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: Strawberry Letter at Steve Harvey f M. You're listening show
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: all right. I was discussing our dreams and you were
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: just as Jay. Steve what was his dream? And he
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: said he always will you tell it? Jay? Oh, I've
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: always wanted to have my own stand up comedy special.
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: And I got quiet. But can I plain why? Steve? Why?
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: Because when Steve taped his comedy special, I was supposed
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: to be his opening at which meant they were gonna
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: film me and we would have had two comedy specials.
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: I I don't know where I was. I couldn't tell
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: you where I was. He was at the bill all
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: the time, but he couldn't go out because he kept
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: going to the bathroom. Well, he gets nervous, I know,
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: and I understood, But I got to go out of
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: here right right. I ain't got time. You know, my
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: my dress room got a bad Foo minute for them
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: moments right there. And what really messed us up over
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: the break was I reminded Jay of a time that
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: I had to call and find him for this special
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: he was on and his dream didn't come true, Steve don't.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: But now his dream he's telling the truth. He wished
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: he had a comedy. Okay, okay, okay, okay. Well, in
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: his dream should have been he should have walked out
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: there for the team he had. That would have been streaky.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: If I'd have walked out now for the two I had,
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: that would have been an accurate portrayal. Okay, I still
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: want to find out, Carla, what's one of the things
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: that you've always wished would happen and it doesn't look
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: like it may happen for you? Oh? Um, I have
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: another baby. Oh that's cool. Yeah, we can't say nothing
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: about that because we can't hit. You can't have babies. Mean,
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: that's how that class. But I'm freaking now, yea, yeah,
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: you know you can always stop she looked into it. Yeah,
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: and you don't even have to stop it. Baby, you
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: just get one already grown and skip all at college
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: and everything. I'm not I'm not any trouble. Y'all could
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: adopt me, trust me? All right, Okay, we'll finish in
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: my room to myself. Rich alright, you're listening, all right,
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: fellas time for comedy. Brunette Jacob quickly set up again. Please,
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: you test us every week, you test our comedy ability.
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: Give us five subjects. Put them on the wheel, spending
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: the wheel were stop, we can do it. What you got, Yeah,

- 1:09:56Speaker 1: ain't got nothing worry about it? Fucking pie? What is got, junior?

- 1:11:25Speaker 1: making speeches. We ain't out there doing that. We don't
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: have a month stand for with you having a date
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: or a month or a marathon. To me, just to me,
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: you are sicker than me. You know what I like
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: about my job. I know some sick people. I'm not
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: calling no name. I ain't telling no. I ain't that,
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: but I child like people that got DIABETD They act
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: like type two is better than the type one. Careful

- 1:14:56Speaker 1: You're listening any time, to asked the cello the Chief
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: Love Officer, Steve Harvey. This one's from Millicent in New Orleans.
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: She says, I'm thirty years old and my dad came
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: in my life six years ago. My dad was already
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: married when my mom got pregnant with me, so I
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: grew up without him in my life. I met his
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: wife a few months after I reconnected with him. His
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: wife explained how my dad kept me as a secret
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: for years because my mom was a one night stand
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: after he'd been drinking one night. I was furious because
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: my dad was with my mom for four years and
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: they went on trips together, and he was in the
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: delivery room when I was born. Should I show his
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: wife the receipts or should I let it go? Not? Well,
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: she walks brown. She wants to have a story to
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: tell that makes her feel adequate for some reason, Because
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: to come and meet a young woman who hasn't had
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: a relationship with her father in twenty four years, and
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: that's the story you want to tell. You wore kept
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: a secret because you are one night stand. I mean,
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: come on, lady, what's what's your purpose for trying to
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: mess this young lady's up relationship up like that? That's
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: foul within itself. Now, with that being said, do you
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: return the foulness that she put out too wrong? I
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: don't think so. I think you should take the high road.
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: I think the important thing for here is for you
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: to have for whatever relationship you can have with your dad.
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: Me and make a lot of mistakes. I make mistakes
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: as a young man myself. Me and make mistakes and
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: have the right to get it right and recover. What
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: she didn't have the right to do was coming here
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: and bust your bubble with all that information that she
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: should have played the bigger woman. But because she not
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: a big woman, don't mean you shouldn't be. I think
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: that God will keep you in a better place if
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: you take the high road myself, That's what I would suggest.
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: But you know, if you're one of them days and
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: you're just feeling funky, go ahead, go ahead. You know
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Good advice, Steve. I like that. Thank you.
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: Now I have for you? What's the one night staying right?
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: All right on? This one's from Verna in White Plains
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: in New York. She says, I've been married for fourteen
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: years and I love my husband dearly. But he stinks.
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: He's in shape, he has a healthy diet, but he
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: smells like hot garbage. He needs to take one of
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: those allergy exams, those that tells you what your body
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: is allergic to. It's a test that you can take
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: and you find out if you your body doesn't respond
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: well to gluten is something and it could be something
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: that's subscreeting out of his body that just don't agree
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: with him, but he doing it anyway, and the way
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: it comes out is through his pole. He stake. Coming up.
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: It's our last break of the day, the last break
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: of the day. Man, we'll have some fabulous, fabulous closing
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: remarks from the one and only Steve Harvey at forty
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: nine minutes after right after this, you're listening to show,
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: all right, Steve, Here we are the last break of
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: the day. It's the last break up the day. Thank you.
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: There you go. It's been a good day, good day.
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: We have fun today. I hope you did too. Thanks
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: for joining us. As always, we appreciate the business and Steve,
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: you're up next closing remarks. Here we go, hey, you
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: know what this is today. I was working out last
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: night and it this prompted this closing remark, Oh, young
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: guy that works with me, says, and you know I'm
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: not in the best of shape. That's not what this
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: is about. This is about me, just my determination and
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: discipline when I start something. And he said, mister Harvey,
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: really really discipline. I can't believe you're working out like that.
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: And I said, well, I'm trying to accomplish a goal.
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: He said, but we were talking earlier and you said
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: you were tired. I said yeah, but my trainer showed up,
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: so once he shows up, I gotta go. He said, well,
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: mister Harvey, you could have easily just sent him home.
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: I mean you had a full day. I said no,
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: he was here. He said, well, but you you're paying him.
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: He gets paid whether you work out or not. I
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: said yeah, but I just I can't say I can't.
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: He said, what do you mean by that. I said, well,
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: I don't know how to say I can't. He said,
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: you don't know how to say you can't. I said, no,
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: I don't. I don't know how to quit. I don't.
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: I don't I don't know how I once somebody challenges me,
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: I don't know how to say I can He said, really,
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: I said, yeah, I've practiced that for a number of years.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: He said, did you attribute that to your success? And
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: I said absolutely. And so when I said that, I said,
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: I was going to share something with you all this
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: morning about becoming successful. And it's real simple what I
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: got to say. And here it is. You have got
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: to find a way to never quit. Did you hear me?
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: It's really what it all is going to come down to. Eventually,
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: all of us must find a way to never quit.
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: You must find something that will not allow you to
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: give up. See, the only way you'll reach any eventual
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: goal that you have, and that's any one of them,
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: is you have to never quit. You have got to
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: find a way something in you and for all of
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: us is something different. But you have got to find
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: that thing that motivates you to where you will not quit.
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: I don't what what is your motivation? What is the
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: thing that you can say to yourself that will keep
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: you pushing? What is the saying? What is the saying?
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: There are sayings out there. The victory isn't given to
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: the swift, but to him that didn't do it to
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: the end. There are saying, you know, winners never quit.
