- 1:10Speaker 1: and author of the newly released memoir which I have read,

- 1:36Speaker 1: about faith, how positive approach to life and determination she
- 1:40Speaker 1: is sharing with her story and being a remote and
- 1:42Speaker 1: being a role model. I tell you for young people,
- 1:45Speaker 1: please working to money making conversations. My dear friend Texan
- 1:49Speaker 1: Ali Brooks. Hello, is such an awesome intro. I am
- 1:56Speaker 1: so happy to be on your show today. Thank you,
- 1:59Speaker 1: thank you. I really appreciate you taking the time to
- 2:01Speaker 1: be on the show because you're young. People young, but
- 2:03Speaker 1: you're talking like an old person in this book, which
- 2:05Speaker 1: is a good thing because that means it's a lot
- 2:07Speaker 1: of maturity. It's a lot of maturity. Like you said,
- 2:09Speaker 1: the old spirit you was, he was premature born, you know.
- 2:13Speaker 1: And and when I was reading in the book, and
- 2:15Speaker 1: they was saying that the number one fear is the lungs,
- 2:18Speaker 1: the lungs camp. But your lungs were strong, your strong LANs.
- 2:23Speaker 1: So let's talk about you as an individual, because I
- 2:26Speaker 1: always find out when a young person writes a book,
- 2:28Speaker 1: I go, what they're gonna talk about? What they're gonna
- 2:30Speaker 1: talk about life? Okay? And then but you hear a
- 2:33Speaker 1: lot of life, starting with you being a PREMI and
- 2:37Speaker 1: let's let's talk about that. And and your parents. Your
- 2:39Speaker 1: brother Brandon had already been born and living his life.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I think he was four years four years older than
- 2:44Speaker 1: you're correct, yes, and uh. And you came out screaming
- 2:50Speaker 1: your parents, uh, and your san Antonio. So I love
- 2:53Speaker 1: the fact that your father can cook. So tell us
- 2:57Speaker 1: about your father, because I have a daughter. So my daughter,
- 3:01Speaker 1: I'm a you know, daddy's girl. I got the impression
- 3:03Speaker 1: that your father, you know, the dad's great bond relationship
- 3:06Speaker 1: father daughter relationships. Tell us about your dad. Oh my god,
- 3:11Speaker 1: Well I love my dad so my to me, my
- 3:13Speaker 1: parents are are my everything. And yes so I yeah,
- 3:19Speaker 1: so even though I'm I'm super young, you can tell
- 3:22Speaker 1: I've lived a lot of life. I've had so much
- 3:28Speaker 1: to come my way, and I've learned a lot of lessons.
- 3:31Speaker 1: My faith has been tested but also strengthened in such
- 3:35Speaker 1: extraordinary ways and through me sharing my story, you know,
- 3:39Speaker 1: just like similar to you, I have a purpose and
- 3:43Speaker 1: and plan and just hope to bring inspiration to people,
- 3:48Speaker 1: to bring hope to them, to bring um positivity, you know,
- 3:53Speaker 1: in such a crazy world. Um, but one of my
- 3:56Speaker 1: foundations are my my parents and my dad. He's so awesome.
- 4:01Speaker 1: He's the life of the party. He loves to you know,
- 4:05Speaker 1: talk to everyone and be everyone friends. But he's also
- 4:08Speaker 1: such a hard worker and has a heart of golds.
- 4:11Speaker 1: And um, both him and my mom sacrifice so much
- 4:15Speaker 1: for me to live out my dreams as you as
- 4:18Speaker 1: you've read in the book, and I've overcome so much together.
- 4:22Speaker 1: And my dad he can cook. He makes come dor
- 4:26Speaker 1: see us right there right there, Like when you said
- 4:29Speaker 1: flower tortillas in the book. Now. See see my wife
- 4:32Speaker 1: and I were getting the arguments all the time because
- 4:34Speaker 1: you know, you know, we're we're based in Houston. She
- 4:36Speaker 1: loves meal. I can care less about meal flower tortillas, don't, girl.
- 4:41Speaker 1: I'm telling you when you're talking about he made the
- 4:43Speaker 1: best in the world. So you kind of made me
- 4:45Speaker 1: mad that a little bit, because see I love flower
- 4:48Speaker 1: tortillas and I'm going, like, what could he be doing
- 4:51Speaker 1: ali that we're making them the best in the where
- 4:53Speaker 1: it's I just love talk family talk. Can your dad
- 4:56Speaker 1: really throw down with the flower tortillas like that? Oh?
- 5:01Speaker 1: Yes you can. I like, seriously, he just knows how
- 5:05Speaker 1: to make them. He makes them handmade from scratch. They're
- 5:09Speaker 1: the best or seas in the world. And aging every time.
- 5:12Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, I like seven or probably can just
- 5:16Speaker 1: kidding just a lot. Put the warm off the goal
- 5:21Speaker 1: and then you put butter on. Life changing. Okay, Now,
- 5:27Speaker 1: can I ask you? Of course? Can you cook? Though
- 5:31Speaker 1: I can so I'm not you paused though, see see
- 5:36Speaker 1: you're paused though. See see that's always strategic. I thought
- 5:40Speaker 1: that question. Now I've been listening for the boldness you've
- 5:43Speaker 1: been bold is entire interview. Then I ask you, can
- 5:46Speaker 1: you cook you with Yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah I could.
- 5:52Speaker 1: I can cook. I can throw down. I made I
- 5:57Speaker 1: finally learned how to make. I was ideas during quarantine
- 6:02Speaker 1: and they are so good and not my dad's okay
- 6:07Speaker 1: like Moore so bake, but I could make pa, I
- 6:11Speaker 1: can make. Let's stop. Let's stop all this right now
- 6:16Speaker 1: because because you just don't even know who you're talking
- 6:18Speaker 1: to when you used when you say the worry bake,
- 6:21Speaker 1: I am an award winning baker. Okay, absolutely, see see
- 6:25Speaker 1: that's what I'm saying. You need to do no hard
- 6:26Speaker 1: work on your boy. Here, your boy in love with you?
- 6:29Speaker 1: You got. I'll read your book. I know it backwards,
- 6:31Speaker 1: it falls. I know your family member, I know about
- 6:33Speaker 1: your cat Bobby, I know my name. But did you
- 6:38Speaker 1: throw out the word bake? Didn't realize you coming over
- 6:41Speaker 1: in my territory? Territory? Now you're right, you totally roasted
- 6:49Speaker 1: me right now, absolutely because it's a good roast. But
- 6:53Speaker 1: I'm just letting you know before you throw out that
- 6:55Speaker 1: worried base. I'm just let your daddy. I'm just let
- 6:57Speaker 1: your dad with the flower tortillas. See what did you
- 7:00Speaker 1: just say I can, but just not not not not
- 7:02Speaker 1: as good as my daddy though. So you have to
- 7:05Speaker 1: realize that you're talking to Rashaan and award winning baker.
- 7:08Speaker 1: So you can continue your conversation and brand to your
- 7:10Speaker 1: fans and everything. But no, you're talking to that. Okay,
- 7:13Speaker 1: continue with your beautiful interview. You know what, You're so right,
- 7:18Speaker 1: I apologize. Wait, I have to make a trip that
- 7:22Speaker 1: your award winning Well, you know I can. I can
- 7:28Speaker 1: do anything I can do. Uh, I can do uh.
- 7:31Speaker 1: You know, I'm a Southern guy, So I do the
- 7:33Speaker 1: peach cob was the Germans chocolate cakes, that apple turn able,
- 7:37Speaker 1: the peach turnovers. I'm a big cheesecake person. I'm a
- 7:42Speaker 1: big cheesecake person, you know. So I can do the
- 7:44Speaker 1: apple stuffed the cheesecake with apple on top, with light layers,
- 7:48Speaker 1: lined with pecans, and put caramel on top. I put
- 7:52Speaker 1: cherry strawberry. You know, so cheesecake because you know Texas
- 7:56Speaker 1: love cheesecakes. So I got the cheesecakes right there downpat,
- 7:59Speaker 1: So you came, that's when we on cheesecake. And then
- 8:01Speaker 1: I throw it out with the apple pies and I
- 8:03Speaker 1: throw it out with the peach cobbles, A good, good
- 8:06Speaker 1: Southern stuff and so so I that's where I've come.
- 8:09Speaker 1: I come from the Southern Texas side of the table. Okay,
- 8:13Speaker 1: so now I've thrown out my little baity menu. I
- 8:16Speaker 1: just threw out bout six items. A boy can do
- 8:18Speaker 1: more because I got an Apple eighty recipes. Okay, let's
- 8:20Speaker 1: you know that. Okay, now, oh my god, Okay, So
- 8:24Speaker 1: what's gonna happen is I'm gonna go home in Texas
- 8:26Speaker 1: and I'm gonna make a trip to you, and you're
- 8:28Speaker 1: gonna baitm nominal problem. I come out there, we were
- 8:33Speaker 1: you based in l A. I'm making hopefully so that's cool.
- 8:40Speaker 1: So because I come out there l A my girl
- 8:41Speaker 1: or Kelly Clarkson. Last year, I did an entire Thanksgiving
- 8:45Speaker 1: spread for Kelly Clarkson and her staff because I know
- 8:48Speaker 1: everybody Alex do the EPs. I do all of them.
- 8:51Speaker 1: And I did a shocked up. She couldn't really, she
- 8:53Speaker 1: wasn't even gonna come over it, and she was I did.
- 8:55Speaker 1: I did four turkeys, I did fifteen desserts, all all
- 9:00Speaker 1: the trimmings, potato salad, peeing onion salad, uh sweeper, Yeah,
- 9:09Speaker 1: everything and we're not talking about those torteoo dorito that
- 9:13Speaker 1: you're ate in the back of the bus. You know,
- 9:14Speaker 1: when you was frustrated too, I would just keep dropping
- 9:17Speaker 1: a little nuggets on you. Let you know. I read
- 9:19Speaker 1: your book when you when you picked up that twenty
- 9:21Speaker 1: pounds and you said, you know, in the five foot frame,
- 9:25Speaker 1: five twenty pounds really show really, show man. You literally
- 9:32Speaker 1: deserve a medal for all of the notes you're taking. You,
- 9:36Speaker 1: my dear wonderful cat Bobby, where the first of all
- 9:43Speaker 1: your book was engaging, let's let's go, and we're joking around.
- 9:45Speaker 1: But but I joke around because I'm fascinated by a
- 9:48Speaker 1: young mind being able to understand her value and why
- 9:52Speaker 1: she had to write this book, because it's inspirational faith,
- 9:55Speaker 1: you know, being able to not not be um uh sex,
- 9:59Speaker 1: not being convinced that sex has to be the way.
- 10:02Speaker 1: You're write a passage for womanhood. Because I have a
- 10:05Speaker 1: year old daughter. She is just like you. She's saving
- 10:07Speaker 1: herselves for her marriage. And so I was really I
- 10:11Speaker 1: really wanted to let you know that, you know, you know,
- 10:13Speaker 1: and like I said, my daughter isn't dorted the unique,
- 10:16Speaker 1: She's not trying to win a medal. It's just here,
- 10:19Speaker 1: that's something she's chosen to do and not allowed it
- 10:21Speaker 1: to be forced. As that's what you have to do
- 10:24Speaker 1: that you have to have sex, you have to have
- 10:25Speaker 1: to be part of if you want to be a woman.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Let's talk about that part because it's important to young
- 10:30Speaker 1: women young men too, because they feel sometimes that's the
- 10:34Speaker 1: only way they can gain manhood is by having a
- 10:36Speaker 1: relationship like that with a woman. Talk about that, Ali,
- 10:41Speaker 1: It's so true, and that's awesome of your daughter's shout
- 10:44Speaker 1: out to her. She we're not alone. Um, But for me, yeah,
- 10:50Speaker 1: it's true. You know a lot of people feel like
- 10:52Speaker 1: they have to do that, um, you know, sometimes to
- 10:55Speaker 1: get someone or whatever. And for me, that was something
- 10:58Speaker 1: that as you you know my books, you've read everything.
- 11:01Speaker 1: You probably memorize it, you don't yere. So when I
- 11:06Speaker 1: was eighteen, I had asked my parents for a true
- 11:09Speaker 1: Love Wakes ring and I just decided to to keep
- 11:12Speaker 1: that vow in that promise. And again, like I would
- 11:16Speaker 1: never judge anybody who's made any different choice, that's just
- 11:19Speaker 1: something that I chose to share. And it's awesome to
- 11:23Speaker 1: receive so much support and love from people who have
- 11:26Speaker 1: made that same decision and people who haven't. You know,
- 11:29Speaker 1: just to be able to own my truth and to
- 11:32Speaker 1: be vulnerable with my fans and to have them support
- 11:36Speaker 1: me has been so awesome. And I just want to
- 11:39Speaker 1: encourage people out there, no matter who you are, no
- 11:42Speaker 1: matter how old you are, just to own your own story,
- 11:45Speaker 1: whatever that means to you, and your own truth, and
- 11:49Speaker 1: to to up be proud you know of yourself really,
- 11:54Speaker 1: and that's what this book is about yourself, being yourself
- 11:57Speaker 1: or standing up for who you are, your own personal dream.
- 12:00Speaker 1: I'm talking to Ali Brook Farmer now. She has a
- 12:04Speaker 1: solo career, fifth Fifth Harmony, member of Fifth Harmony group
- 12:08Speaker 1: Finding Your Harmony. It was just appropriately named book that
- 12:11Speaker 1: she has out right now dream big, half faith and
- 12:13Speaker 1: achieved more than you can imagine. When I when when
- 12:16Speaker 1: I read that title, and I think about a young
- 12:19Speaker 1: lady who along the way, you had your teacher, Miss Meryll,
- 12:23Speaker 1: Miss Merrill, and then you had had the coach, and
- 12:28Speaker 1: then you had to coach and had Dana so each one.
- 12:32Speaker 1: And I always tell people and people always asking me
- 12:35Speaker 1: about my life, they I call those people bumps. You know,
- 12:38Speaker 1: people come into your life and they just they just
- 12:40Speaker 1: feel they need to push you in the direction because
- 12:44Speaker 1: you don't see what the gift that you have. And
- 12:46Speaker 1: and that's why I really, I really impressed with you,
- 12:49Speaker 1: because I always tell people, despite all the success I've
- 12:53Speaker 1: had in my life up to that point, it wasn't
- 12:54Speaker 1: until I was in my forties that I really appreciate
- 12:58Speaker 1: it and understood who I was because the fact that
- 13:01Speaker 1: I was riding on those statements ali you know, right place,
- 13:04Speaker 1: right time, you know, knock on wood, you know, all
- 13:08Speaker 1: those cliches that had nothing to do with faith, had
- 13:11Speaker 1: nothing to do with the talent that God gave you,
- 13:15Speaker 1: had nothing to do with the inspiration and your purpose.
- 13:18Speaker 1: And this book is about if you have found your purpose.
- 13:21Speaker 1: You've always known your purpose, but people had to push you,
- 13:25Speaker 1: like your teacher, like the coach, like Dana. So let's
- 13:28Speaker 1: start with the teacher and how she shaped your life,
- 13:32Speaker 1: and then we're gonna go to the coach, and then
- 13:33Speaker 1: we're gonna go to Dana who got you to l A. Okay,
- 13:36Speaker 1: let's go through the stamach. Wow. Well, thank you again
- 13:42Speaker 1: so much for taking your time to to do the
- 13:44Speaker 1: research and to really um grab my book and to
- 13:50Speaker 1: cherish each in every moment and character and story that
- 13:53Speaker 1: means the world to me. Sir, I really want to
- 13:55Speaker 1: say thank you, because no one has done this amount
- 13:58Speaker 1: of um research and and and care about my book
- 14:03Speaker 1: as you have, so God bless you, and I just
- 14:05Speaker 1: thank you, sir um. But also yes, so third grade,
- 14:10Speaker 1: I was singing in recess and then my teacher just
- 14:15Speaker 1: just just just just just like that. I think, don't don't,
- 14:27Speaker 1: don't tell that. I get baked that but I can't sing. Okay,
- 14:30Speaker 1: you can leave that to me. She changed my life.
- 14:37Speaker 1: And she asked my mom if I could sing in
- 14:41Speaker 1: chapel and my mom was like, oh my gosh. Of
- 14:44Speaker 1: course she was so excited and flattered, but she didn't
- 14:47Speaker 1: really think anything of it until she saw me in
- 14:50Speaker 1: chapel and my you know, her and my parents her
- 14:53Speaker 1: my dad were amazed and Mrs Merrill said, you know,
- 14:56Speaker 1: you need to nurture her gifts, and UM changed my life.
- 15:00Speaker 1: If it wasn't for Mrs Merrill, I may not have
- 15:03Speaker 1: ever really pursued singing. You know, my parents may not
- 15:06Speaker 1: have ever really seen oh, you know, our daughter has
- 15:10Speaker 1: a void. And from then I my parents put me
- 15:14Speaker 1: into a local organization in San Antonio called Network for
- 15:18Speaker 1: Young Artists, and this wonderful man named Coach, another person
- 15:24Speaker 1: to changed my life. He ran this this UH performing
- 15:28Speaker 1: arts program and you had an audition to get in,
- 15:31Speaker 1: and he welcomed me with open arms. He solved the
- 15:34Speaker 1: talent in me. I was super shy at that age,
- 15:37Speaker 1: and he encouraged me and pushed me to say, hey,
- 15:41Speaker 1: you know what, You're awesome, you have a gift. You
- 15:44Speaker 1: can do this, but you have to work on your shyness.
- 15:48Speaker 1: And he gave me that chance to perform UM around
- 15:52Speaker 1: my hometown and you know, all over Texas. I went
- 15:56Speaker 1: to McAllen and Austin and other other place is and
- 16:01Speaker 1: you know, again, Coach gave me that opportunity to truly
- 16:05Speaker 1: perform for the very first time. And then it wasn't
- 16:09Speaker 1: until I went on this audition years later UM with
- 16:14Speaker 1: my friend. It wasn't even my audition. I went with
- 16:17Speaker 1: her to this talent show and she auditioned. I wasn't
- 16:20Speaker 1: going to them. Somehow, I crazily enough ended up singing
- 16:26Speaker 1: and UH. An actress named Dana Baron, who was the
- 16:31Speaker 1: very first audrey in National Lampoon's Vacation, was there and
- 16:37Speaker 1: she pulled me aside, you know she and she was like, listen,
- 16:41Speaker 1: I'm not a part of this, uh this talent show.
- 16:44Speaker 1: I'm just filling in. But you moved me and you
- 16:47Speaker 1: brought tears to my eyes. You're you're so incredible. I
- 16:50Speaker 1: know that sounds crazy, mom, you know, mom and dad,
- 16:54Speaker 1: but I would love to take your daughter to l
- 16:56Speaker 1: A and introduced her to all these agents passing directors.
- 17:01Speaker 1: I promised, this is real, legitimate it and then my
- 17:04Speaker 1: parents prayed about it and we're so thankful. And I
- 17:07Speaker 1: couldn't believe they were meeting her because they were a fan. Um.
- 17:10Speaker 1: And then they said yes, and I, at twelve years old,
- 17:14Speaker 1: packed up and went back and forth in San Antonio
- 17:17Speaker 1: to Los Angeles to pursue a dream. And Dana Baron
- 17:20Speaker 1: got me to l A and that changed my life forever.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Was we just she was going back and forth because
- 17:26Speaker 1: she had to get back for Christmas to get those Tomali's. Yes,
- 17:32Speaker 1: that's right, you know, you know, I mean our house.
- 17:36Speaker 1: It's not Christmas about them. Come on, come on, that
- 17:39Speaker 1: girl they called me put that little you know, something
- 17:44Speaker 1: like the Tomorrow's And a lot of people don't know
- 17:46Speaker 1: about Tomorrow's you know you that's really a text mix
- 17:49Speaker 1: come down the Texas area with Tomoral's room. Absolutely, really,
- 17:56Speaker 1: it's really the simplest thing in the world to make. Yeah,
- 18:01Speaker 1: well actually it's yes, So the ingredients are simple, but
- 18:05Speaker 1: the process it's hard. Hard. But I was checking your
- 18:11Speaker 1: just checking you wouldn't like your sper do myself. I
- 18:17Speaker 1: gotta check you now on the food. Not singing. You
- 18:19Speaker 1: got me all day long, but on that food. I'm
- 18:21Speaker 1: always checking if you're eater or maker. You know what
- 18:24Speaker 1: I'm saying. You are more of an eater to me,
- 18:26Speaker 1: you know, but you're good watching. I should eat like
- 18:33Speaker 1: literally forty in one sitting, no joke. Okay, okay, let's
- 18:37Speaker 1: get to get these numbers right, twelve flower to forty
- 18:43Speaker 1: to the fifty to item five foot singing genius is eating.
- 18:50Speaker 1: So God, listen up, now, listen up. The girl can eat.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Don't let the frame fool you. You heard it, You
- 18:59Speaker 1: heard it on my main conversation. Okay, she puts the
- 19:02Speaker 1: butter on the flower? Did she go to work? Continue?
- 19:16Speaker 1: That's why she had to come back and texts you.
- 19:18Speaker 1: I'm just living. Parents. They were there, Brandon, the brother
- 19:22Speaker 1: was there. Grandma was there, Grandpaul, Grandpa was there too,
- 19:27Speaker 1: But it was them doing to malus. Put a little
- 19:31Speaker 1: meat and put a little pork in between that cornmeal.
- 19:34Speaker 1: You've you've closed it up. Then you wrap it up
- 19:36Speaker 1: in that little that little sale. Then you're dropping standing
- 19:40Speaker 1: on one end into this pot. You kind of like
- 19:42Speaker 1: the steaming. You steam them and then you pull them
- 19:46Speaker 1: out and you put a little sausa on top of
- 19:48Speaker 1: green or red, whatever you prefer. Or if you're crazy,
- 19:53Speaker 1: you put a little chili on top of them too.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Some people do that. I don't do that. I don't
- 19:57Speaker 1: do that. I don't do that. I don't want to
- 19:59Speaker 1: mess up a good to my that's new change. Now,
- 20:03Speaker 1: come on, you weren't ready for this interview, Alick, you
- 20:07Speaker 1: weren't really ready. I don't know why they puts you
- 20:09Speaker 1: on this phone with me. Yeah. Yeah, Actually you're having
- 20:12Speaker 1: a good time talking to a stranger. That's what you're doing.
- 20:18Speaker 1: I think this is down interview I've ever done. I
- 20:26Speaker 1: am talking to Ali Brook from San Antonio. Listen up, guys,
- 20:32Speaker 1: she's five ft tall. She can sing, but boy, you
- 20:37Speaker 1: put a knife in full in front of her, you're
- 20:39Speaker 1: gonna get a beast and if it's some tomlus lord
- 20:44Speaker 1: Ha Mercy gonna knock you out the way because she's
- 20:47Speaker 1: a beautiful person like that. I know, you know, because
- 20:50Speaker 1: of the competition. Just what I love about your book?
- 20:53Speaker 1: What I love about you? See, I knew I was
- 20:55Speaker 1: gonna get along good with you because at the very
- 20:58Speaker 1: start of her book, you know, she's thanks her mom
- 21:01Speaker 1: since she's such a blessing. Then she thanks her dad,
- 21:04Speaker 1: and about a few more pages in after she you know,
- 21:08Speaker 1: talks about her being a premium. Did she get to
- 21:10Speaker 1: her dad and talks about everything he can cook. He's
- 21:14Speaker 1: the best cooking. That's all I mean, Like it almost
- 21:16Speaker 1: turns into it like a cookbook, that really does. I
- 21:21Speaker 1: was home on that page. I got home grab This
- 21:24Speaker 1: girl can eat. She loves food. She has a passion.
- 21:27Speaker 1: She might have a passion for singing, but she loves
- 21:30Speaker 1: good food and text mix. I'm gonna tell you something,
- 21:34Speaker 1: Ah Blanco, that was your Blanco Blanco? What's her name
- 21:37Speaker 1: of the restaurant? I'm for you? You get a metal
- 21:44Speaker 1: you know everything about this book. I know something I'm
- 21:54Speaker 1: tired of. I'm tired of like you know, front, I'm
- 21:58Speaker 1: I'm just a stalker. I'm just a stalker. Was stalking
- 22:00Speaker 1: for talented people who like to Molly's and flowers. Oh
- 22:10Speaker 1: my god, you know, you know, let's just get back
- 22:14Speaker 1: to this book. And actually we've been talking about the
- 22:16Speaker 1: book because she I told him too when she's coming
- 22:18Speaker 1: back and forward. It's mentioned in the book to Molly's
- 22:20Speaker 1: for Christmas. That's why I know about that. So that's
- 22:22Speaker 1: why she's laughing. She can't believe I pulled that out.
- 22:24Speaker 1: And when I pulled the restaurant name out, she can't
- 22:27Speaker 1: believe I put the restaurant name. That really messed up.
- 22:30Speaker 1: That messed up really bad. Right there, she said, he
- 22:34Speaker 1: knew the name of my favorite restaurant. That is so obscure.
- 22:37Speaker 1: It's only mentioned one time. What that you knew about
- 22:43Speaker 1: the Dorito's in the back of the bus. He knew
- 22:46Speaker 1: about that. You're eating? About that? Okay? In how it
- 22:54Speaker 1: all started, you know you didn't want to audition your
- 22:58Speaker 1: Mom's is a funny part of this book. Her dad, Dad,
- 23:04Speaker 1: he's a great champion. Whenever he came around and he
- 23:09Speaker 1: saw an opportunity to get his daughter to the next left,
- 23:12Speaker 1: he asked her to sing on the spot. Come on, baby,
- 23:14Speaker 1: saying Alison Alice said, that made me so mad. My
- 23:29Speaker 1: dad and I sing, girl, let the do gods work.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Come on, do gods work, do God's work. Come on.
- 23:40Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, Dad, I had all these unprepared. I
- 23:42Speaker 1: knew what he was up to. But you know what,
- 23:45Speaker 1: you got to crush the man because bad he got me.
- 23:51Speaker 1: I just laughed. That made me laugh so hard, he said.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Every time my dad he did have me sing on
- 23:56Speaker 1: the spot. I could be a Danny's restaurant. You need
- 23:59Speaker 1: care corner. He's my dad's singer. Let's do the Lord's work,
- 24:03Speaker 1: do God's work, right in front of everybody. Come on,
- 24:05Speaker 1: come on that right now? Yes, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, okay,
- 24:17Speaker 1: let's let's get back to your wonderful book. That's also
- 24:19Speaker 1: in the book. By the way, everything I'm talking about
- 24:22Speaker 1: she's laughing so hard, but everything I'm talking about is
- 24:25Speaker 1: in this book is an amazing inspirational book. She's laughing
- 24:29Speaker 1: so hard. She's never heard anybody, you know, because she's famous.
- 24:34Speaker 1: You know, that's the beauty of famous people like and
- 24:36Speaker 1: and a lot of people want to interview because they're
- 24:38Speaker 1: famous and and and then but they don't do they
- 24:40Speaker 1: don't look inside and realize why this person is special.
- 24:43Speaker 1: And Ali Brooks Alie brook scuse me, is an amazing person. Uh.
- 24:48Speaker 1: We just kind of keep saying Ali something that once
- 24:50Speaker 1: on apology because a brother inspired her name because of
- 24:55Speaker 1: Ali and so that she said he knew that too. Okay,
- 25:00Speaker 1: I'm done with him. I'm done with him. I love
- 25:04Speaker 1: that you have permissioned to be like the Godfather about you. No,
- 25:16Speaker 1: I'm gona tell you, I tell you thank you now.
- 25:18Speaker 1: I will be read there for you to Like I said, uh, uh,
- 25:21Speaker 1: this is the thing about what I love about it
- 25:24Speaker 1: was it was a sad moment in the book when
- 25:26Speaker 1: it comes to uh, one of my all time favorite
- 25:28Speaker 1: singers and that's Selena is tragically murdered at the age
- 25:34Speaker 1: of three years old. And was it has been an
- 25:35Speaker 1: inspiration for your career. Reason I know because her to well,
- 25:40Speaker 1: because at the Houston Livestock Show a Rod video she
- 25:43Speaker 1: said a record because on Sunday Night was like Hispanic
- 25:47Speaker 1: night on Sunday Night and it all and it was
- 25:49Speaker 1: always the biggest crowd every year has always been Sunday
- 25:55Speaker 1: Night at the Eastern Livestock Show Rodeo and she came
- 25:58Speaker 1: down there and and look great, finest all get up.
- 26:05Speaker 1: But she was she was she was a crossover act.
- 26:08Speaker 1: That's what I loved about. She was crossed because she
- 26:10Speaker 1: appealed to me her talents, her graciousness, and let's talk
- 26:14Speaker 1: a little bit. Even today in Houston, they had some
- 26:17Speaker 1: I think some some uh Selena candles. Uh. They sold
- 26:22Speaker 1: out in the hour. You know, T shirt, They sell
- 26:25Speaker 1: out any type of memory barrewer is always, always sells
- 26:28Speaker 1: out strongly in the UH community. So she has been
- 26:33Speaker 1: inspiration to you at a young age. She died when
- 26:35Speaker 1: she was twenty three years old, and now you've been
- 26:37Speaker 1: inspiration now for women today. And I just think that's
- 26:41Speaker 1: hand in hand that that you're carrying on her legacy,
- 26:44Speaker 1: not only from from who you are, and also from
- 26:48Speaker 1: the fact that because she was born in the area
- 26:50Speaker 1: where you're, where you're from, and just talking about her
- 26:53Speaker 1: as an inspirational person and your message that you're trying
- 26:57Speaker 1: to deliver from this fantastic book that I had such
- 27:00Speaker 1: a great tyrine finding your harmony. Bo oh my gosh, Well,
- 27:06Speaker 1: thank you so much for that. That means man, more
- 27:10Speaker 1: than I could ever say. I just I just loved
- 27:13Speaker 1: Felina so much. I have since I was literally in diapers.
- 27:17Speaker 1: And what I loved about her the most was her beautiful,
- 27:21Speaker 1: just radiant spirit. She shined so much light and love
- 27:26Speaker 1: to her friends, to her family. She made people believed
- 27:32Speaker 1: that they could shape their dreams. And for me, you know,
- 27:36Speaker 1: even a young Mexican American little girl, seeing someone who
- 27:40Speaker 1: looked like me, who was able to in a way
- 27:43Speaker 1: reach her dreams was so beautiful and powerful for me.
- 27:48Speaker 1: And her voice, her message she was She was a
- 27:52Speaker 1: positive role model for so many people. And I can
- 27:57Speaker 1: just go on and on about why I love her,
- 28:00Speaker 1: and again, it's just all about her extraordinary spirit. She
- 28:04Speaker 1: just shines so bright and it still makes me so sad.
- 28:08Speaker 1: But at the same time, I know that her legacy
- 28:11Speaker 1: is being carried on generation after generation, and that's what
- 28:16Speaker 1: I felt. You know, when I was young, I always said,
- 28:19Speaker 1: I want to honor her wherever I can, and I sing,
- 28:23Speaker 1: you know, her songs and pay tribute to her whenever
- 28:26Speaker 1: I can. And the fact that I can write about
- 28:29Speaker 1: her in my book is an honor um and it's
- 28:32Speaker 1: it's it's just incredible because recently last year I got
- 28:36Speaker 1: to become friends with Suzeki, Dania and her family, you
- 28:41Speaker 1: know Selena's family, and that was just a highlight of
- 28:45Speaker 1: my whole life. Um. But that's my goal, is to
- 28:48Speaker 1: just continue to spread her beautiful legacy for as long
- 28:53Speaker 1: as I live, because she was that incredible of a human. Well,
- 28:57Speaker 1: I'm showing you are incredible to such a fun time.
- 29:01Speaker 1: My time is up. I don't want to you know,
- 29:03Speaker 1: we in our relationship, it's over. It's alex Alec. Look,
- 29:07Speaker 1: you know you probably need to go well, you know,
- 29:09Speaker 1: Los Angeles, so you can't do anything there. But the
- 29:11Speaker 1: tomores are in San Antonio and the food of flower
- 29:13Speaker 1: to tears in San Antonio. But you can't make something.
- 29:16Speaker 1: But the beauty of why I brought you on the
- 29:18Speaker 1: show is to let people know beyond singing, because a
- 29:22Speaker 1: lot of people just see people as a singer for
- 29:23Speaker 1: the gift that they know, and I just wanted people
- 29:27Speaker 1: to know how fun you are, how relatable you are,
- 29:31Speaker 1: and how you have such a tremendous passion to change lives.
- 29:35Speaker 1: That's what you get when you read this book. You
- 29:37Speaker 1: I I found it at the detail. I found the
- 29:41Speaker 1: you know that I'm just gonna break it down. You
- 29:43Speaker 1: know she was she was she was a premy okay,
- 29:46Speaker 1: and um, we know the mortality rate on that for girls,
- 29:49Speaker 1: they are stronger than boys. Just written in the book,
- 29:51Speaker 1: I'm just doing you know. Um. You know she's from
- 29:55Speaker 1: a Hispanic community, like I'm from a black community. A
- 29:57Speaker 1: lot of people tell us we ain't gonna make it,
- 29:59Speaker 1: and they tell us who what we can be in
- 30:00Speaker 1: the stay in that lane. And our parents didn't do that.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Her parents didn't believe that, and uh, and and and
- 30:06Speaker 1: so and even you know when she when she was
- 30:09Speaker 1: blessed to get on the show X Factor and become
- 30:13Speaker 1: a part of Fifth Harmony, she realized that wasn't her dream,
- 30:16Speaker 1: you know, and she living her dream now realized that's
- 30:19Speaker 1: so much that it called her to gain weight, It
- 30:21Speaker 1: called her to to uh as they say, you redirect
- 30:24Speaker 1: her pain as you reread her pain to eating, and
- 30:28Speaker 1: she overcame that. So you have you have a discussion
- 30:30Speaker 1: about that in the book, which is relatable to a
- 30:32Speaker 1: lot of young people, male and female. And then she
- 30:34Speaker 1: talks about you know, going out on faith and going
- 30:38Speaker 1: out there and when you go out on faith or
- 30:40Speaker 1: you go out there and you're unknown, a lot of
- 30:42Speaker 1: people don't because they the unknown is what it is.
- 30:46Speaker 1: You know, you have to trust yourself. You have to
- 30:48Speaker 1: have people around you, and you've done that. Your parents
- 30:51Speaker 1: around you, wheels around, your charms around you. You know,
- 30:55Speaker 1: all these people have been around you, and I just
- 30:58Speaker 1: I want you much success. Now. I've home in Houston
- 31:01Speaker 1: and my headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. So if you ever
- 31:04Speaker 1: get to Atlanta, I mean a mesta. Right now, I'm
- 31:09Speaker 1: feeling my very first movie. That's correct, my headquarters right
- 31:18Speaker 1: here in Atlanta, right right in Atlanta. So I did,
- 31:21Speaker 1: like I said, I've got to get your information and
- 31:24Speaker 1: we've got to make them to happen because you are
- 31:27Speaker 1: so awesome. I'm so blessed that even just talk to you,
- 31:30Speaker 1: and the fact that you cherish and value my story
- 31:34Speaker 1: and what matters to me and my family and those
- 31:37Speaker 1: who who paved the way for me. It's it's it's
- 31:41Speaker 1: a real blessing, sir. Just just thank you from the
- 31:44Speaker 1: bottom of my heart for for knowing, um what's important
- 31:48Speaker 1: to me and for sharing that with your audience and
- 31:51Speaker 1: and understanding my heart. You know, it's not about oh,
- 31:54Speaker 1: just a singer. No, it's about the heart and the
- 31:56Speaker 1: spirit and the story. So I thank you for valuing that.
- 32:00Speaker 1: And we have to keep in touch and stay in touch,
- 32:03Speaker 1: so you gotta get me your info. Okay, well let
- 32:06Speaker 1: me say goodboute. Everybody hold on and we're spreading info

- 32:24Speaker 1: in her family is tied to faith. Um is amazing
- 32:28Speaker 1: to achieve more than you can imagine. That's important part
- 32:30Speaker 1: of this conversation because you know, we tend to limit
