Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: We finally have a new Speaker of the House. It's
- 0:05Speaker 1: a name you may not know, and I'm going to
- 0:07Speaker 1: introduce you the new Speaker, Mike Johnson, a man from Louisiana.
- 0:11Speaker 1: He got a unanimous GOP vote and he is vowing
- 0:15Speaker 1: to address the debt, are open borders. And that's just
- 0:20Speaker 1: for starters. Now Here is the part that's the most
- 0:23Speaker 1: impressive about his background that you need to understand. He
- 0:27Speaker 1: is an America first and a MAGA Conservative. He is
- 0:31Speaker 1: a staunch ally of the House Freedom Caucus.
- 0:35Speaker 2: His mentor is Jim Jordan.
- 0:38Speaker 1: He served as legal defense for Donald Trump during both
- 0:42Speaker 1: impeachment trials. He also voted against all Ukraine spending after
- 0:48Speaker 1: the initial bill. He has an F rating from Republicans
- 0:53Speaker 1: for Ukraine.
- 0:54Speaker 2: That's a good thing.
- 0:55Speaker 1: By the way, he objected to certifying the twenty twenty election.
- 1:00Speaker 1: He called to arrest Pelosi after she tore up the
- 1:03Speaker 1: state of the Union. That is his background, So you
- 1:07Speaker 1: understand who Mike Johnson is. He won, and make no
- 1:11Speaker 1: mistake about this. This is a huge victory. You may
- 1:14Speaker 1: not know his name, but you will soon. Speaker Mike Johnson.
- 1:18Speaker 1: It's a huge victory because not only after we got
- 1:23Speaker 1: rid of Kevin McCarthy, the DC establishment fought back. They
- 1:28Speaker 1: clamped down, and they were able to stop good people
- 1:30Speaker 1: like Jim Jordan. But Conservatives one, patriots one, Conservatives in
- 1:38Speaker 1: Congress that stood strong, understood they were running out of
- 1:41Speaker 1: time and.
- 1:42Speaker 2: They need to get this right, and they did get
- 1:44Speaker 2: it right.
- 1:45Speaker 1: For the first time in decades, We the people have
- 1:49Speaker 1: a true conservative voice leading Congress. That's something else you
- 1:54Speaker 1: need to understand about who he is. Now, let's talk
- 1:59Speaker 1: about some of these votes for a minute, just so
- 2:01Speaker 1: you understand he is experienced, by the way, and we'll
- 2:04Speaker 1: talk a little bit about his background for a moment.
- 2:06Speaker 1: He's having been a member of Congress for seven years.
- 2:09Speaker 1: He's in his fourth term right now, so he's not
- 2:12Speaker 1: a newbie. Understands how Washington works and look. And when
- 2:14Speaker 1: you're the Speaker of the House, that's important so that
- 2:17Speaker 1: you understand what victories you can have, what you can win,
- 2:20Speaker 1: and what you'll have no chance of winning on based
- 2:23Speaker 1: on the makeup of Congress. That's part of the experience
- 2:27Speaker 1: that you do want a speaker to have moving in.
- 2:31Speaker 1: He fought by the way for Trump as a member
- 2:33Speaker 1: of his legal defense team. During both these impeachments. What
- 2:36Speaker 1: does that mean. It means he is a staunch Trump ally.
- 2:40Speaker 1: So if Donald Trump is elected president again, he would
- 2:43Speaker 1: have a speaker in theory that he could work hand
- 2:46Speaker 1: in hand with to get stuff done. There's also his
- 2:49Speaker 1: background Johnson Speaker. Johnson is a constitutional attorney. He is
- 2:55Speaker 1: a constitutional attorney who received his degree from Louisiana State University.
- 2:59Speaker 1: He's not a Harvard Ale Ivy League kind of guy.
- 3:02Speaker 1: He's more of your your your common man. And I
- 3:05Speaker 1: love that, okay, And I'm not I'm not. I'm not
- 3:08Speaker 1: saying that I think you can't be a great conservative
- 3:10Speaker 1: and good to Ivy League. A great example of that
- 3:12Speaker 1: is Senator Ted Kruz. But this is a guy that's
- 3:15Speaker 1: kind of true to his roots. He's a part of
- 3:17Speaker 1: Flyover country. He's a conservative evangelical from the South.
- 3:21Speaker 2: I love that.
- 3:23Speaker 1: He's also a family man. He's married with four different children.
- 3:27Speaker 1: His Christian faith is important to him. He often leads
- 3:31Speaker 1: prayers on Capitol Hill. In fact, he was praying on
- 3:35Speaker 1: Capitol Hill before, during, and after these votes his mentor representative,
- 3:40Speaker 1: Jim Jordan. He voted for Jim Jordan for Speaker That's
- 3:43Speaker 1: another part of him that I absolutely love. And Representative
- 3:47Speaker 1: Mike Johnson has a life and a political record.
- 3:51Speaker 2: That is solid as a rock.
- 3:53Speaker 1: He is consistently from the very beginning beginning voted against
- 3:57Speaker 1: the Ukraine Aid except for the very first aid bill.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Most conservatives were okay with that one, but once they
- 4:04Speaker 1: started to see where the money was going and how
- 4:06Speaker 1: it was going to not go to the people that
- 4:08Speaker 1: actually needed it, and that this was going to put
- 4:10Speaker 1: us into an issue of World War IIIE and what
- 4:13Speaker 1: the Democrats were doing with the money and what they
- 4:15Speaker 1: were doing in Zelenskin others, he said, no more money
- 4:17Speaker 1: for Ukraine.
- 4:18Speaker 2: I love that.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Let's talk about those issues that are really important to conservatives.
- 4:23Speaker 1: He is a hardcore, staunch pro life advocate. He has
- 4:30Speaker 1: never wavered on his pro life stands as a conservative evangelical.
- 4:35Speaker 1: He supported President Trump's twenty seventeen executive order. By the way,
- 4:40Speaker 1: and this goes back to national security as well as
- 4:42Speaker 1: border security. He supported President Trump's executive order prohibiting immigration
- 4:47Speaker 1: from seven Muslim countries. Right that they said was you know,
- 4:51Speaker 1: anti Muslim, when really it was about national security. He
- 4:55Speaker 1: stood by the president when that happened and he solidly
- 4:59Speaker 1: votes with a Republican colleagues. He's very policy driven as well.
- 5:05Speaker 1: This is way better than Representative Tom Emmer, way better
- 5:09Speaker 1: than Kevin McCarthy. Now I'll be clear with you, I
- 5:12Speaker 1: would have loved Jim Jordan. Jim is very much in
- 5:15Speaker 1: the mentor of Mike Johnson. But if we couldn't get
- 5:17Speaker 1: Jim through, at least we were able to get Mike
- 5:20Speaker 1: Johnson through. There's also another aspect of this, and there
- 5:23Speaker 1: was a wake up call clearly the Republicans that you
- 5:27Speaker 1: better get your house in order. No pun intended. It
- 5:29Speaker 1: was a unanimous GOP vote. Now let's listen to what
- 5:34Speaker 1: he said as he took the gabbl and addressed the chamber,
- 5:38Speaker 1: a joint chamber in the House.
- 5:40Speaker 2: I want you to hear what he had to say.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Listen carefully.
- 5:43Speaker 3: The challenge before us is great, but the time for
- 5:46Speaker 3: action is now, and I will not let you down.
- 5:50Speaker 3: I want to say to the American people on behalf
- 5:52Speaker 3: of all of us here, we hear you. We know
- 5:55Speaker 3: the challenges you're facing, we know that there's a lot
- 6:00Speaker 3: going on in our country domestically and abroad, and we
- 6:03Speaker 3: are ready to get to work again to solve those problems,
- 6:06Speaker 3: and we will. Our mission here is to serve you well,
- 6:10Speaker 3: to restore the people's faith in this house, in this
- 6:13Speaker 3: great and essential institution. My dad, it was to mentioned
- 6:18Speaker 3: my dad was a firefighter. He was an assistant chief
- 6:20Speaker 3: in the fire department in my hometown of Sreport, Louisiana,
- 6:23Speaker 3: a little town in northwest Louisiana. On September seventeenth, nineteen
- 6:26Speaker 3: eighty four, when I was twelve years old, he was
- 6:29Speaker 3: critically burned and permanently disabled in the line of duty.
- 6:32Speaker 4: All I ever wanted to be when.
- 6:34Speaker 3: I grew up was the chief of the fire department
- 6:37Speaker 3: in Shreeport. But after the explosion on that fateful day,
- 6:41Speaker 3: he nearly died, and it was a long road back,
- 6:43Speaker 3: and it changed all of our life trajectories. I'm to
- 6:46Speaker 3: go to four kids and my dad. He lived with
- 6:49Speaker 3: pain all the rest of his life for decades more.
- 6:52Speaker 3: And I lost my dad to cancer three days before
- 6:55Speaker 3: I got elected to Congress, three days and he wanted
- 6:58Speaker 3: to be there at my election night so badly. On
- 7:02Speaker 3: the first college you graduate in my family, this was
- 7:04Speaker 3: a big deal to him. And so several weeks after that,
- 7:07Speaker 3: it was early twenty seventeen. Twenty seventeen, it was my
- 7:11Speaker 3: freshman term and it fell to me to be in
- 7:15Speaker 3: the rosterrum one night to serve here as speaker pro tem.
- 7:18Speaker 3: I thought that was a big deal until I figured
- 7:20Speaker 3: out that's what you do for freshmen late at night.
- 7:24Speaker 3: And I want to I think, if my memory sirs,
- 7:27Speaker 3: Miss Jackson Lee was was winding down one of her long,
- 7:31Speaker 3: eloquent speeches, and not that I was not enraptured by
- 7:37Speaker 3: her speech, but I looked looked up at the top
- 7:40Speaker 3: of the chamber there and I saw the face of
- 7:42Speaker 3: Moses staring down and I just felt in that moment
- 7:46Speaker 3: the weight of this place right the history that is
- 7:50Speaker 3: revered here in the future, that we are called the Forge,
- 7:54Speaker 3: and I really was just kind of almost overwhelmed with emotion.
- 7:57Speaker 3: It occurred to me in that moment. It had been
- 7:59Speaker 3: several weeks and I had not had an opportunity yet
- 8:01Speaker 3: to grieve my dad's passing, and I just had this
- 8:04Speaker 3: sense that somehow he knew, and I had tears come
- 8:08Speaker 3: into my eyes and I was standing here and I'm
- 8:11Speaker 3: wiping them away, and then it suddenly occurs to me,
- 8:14Speaker 3: the late night sea span viewers are going to think
- 8:16Speaker 3: something's very wrong with the new young congressman from Louisiana.
- 8:20Speaker 2: It wasn't.
- 8:20Speaker 4: She was speech. I'm sorry.
- 8:25Speaker 3: I just knew in that moment that my dad, my
- 8:27Speaker 3: father would be, would be proud of me, and I
- 8:29Speaker 3: felt that he was. And I think all of our
- 8:32Speaker 3: parents are proud of what we're called to do here.
- 8:34Speaker 3: I think all the American people at one time had
- 8:37Speaker 3: great pride in this institution, but right now that's in jeopardy,
- 8:43Speaker 3: and we have a challenge before us right now to
- 8:45Speaker 3: rebuild and restore that trust.
- 8:48Speaker 4: This is a beautiful country.
- 8:50Speaker 3: It's the beauty of America that allows a firefighter's kid
- 8:53Speaker 3: like me to come here and serve in this sacred
- 8:55Speaker 3: chamber where great men and women have served before all
- 8:59Speaker 3: of us, and strive together to build and then preserve
- 9:02Speaker 3: what Lincoln did refer to as a last best hope
- 9:05Speaker 3: of man on earth.
- 9:06Speaker 1: This is a guy that understands history, and I love
- 9:09Speaker 1: that about our new speaker, Mike Johnson. He understands family,
- 9:14Speaker 1: He understands being what success looks like, being the first
- 9:17Speaker 1: one to go to college from his family. It's an
- 9:19Speaker 1: incredible story of the American dream. Being realized and coming
- 9:24Speaker 1: about not because he wanted this job, but because it
- 9:26Speaker 1: finally people looked around the room and said who can
- 9:29Speaker 1: we get elected and who's a good man? And then
- 9:31Speaker 1: they went to Mike Johnson. This was not his goal
- 9:33Speaker 1: in life to be the speaker. To be very clear,
- 9:35Speaker 1: this is a man that's actually serving because others were
- 9:40Speaker 1: obsessed with being a speaker, like Kevin McCarthy.
- 9:42Speaker 2: This is different.
- 9:44Speaker 3: All right.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Let me tell you real quick about an amazing company
- 9:47Speaker 1: called Patriot Mobile. For ten years, they have been America's
- 9:51Speaker 1: only Christian conservative wireless provider. And when I say only
- 9:55Speaker 1: trust me, they're the only one. Glenn and the team
- 9:58Speaker 1: have been great supporters this show, which is why I'm
- 10:01Speaker 1: proud to partner with Patriot Mobile. They offer you dependable
- 10:05Speaker 1: nationwide coverage, giving you the ability to access all three
- 10:08Speaker 1: major networks, which means you get the same coverage you've
- 10:11Speaker 1: been accustomed to without funding the leftist agenda. When you
- 10:16Speaker 1: switch to Patriot Mobile, you're sending the message that you
- 10:18Speaker 1: support free speech, religious freedom, sancty of life, Second Amendment,
- 10:22Speaker 1: and our military, our veterans and first responder heroes. They
- 10:26Speaker 1: have one hundred percent US based customer service team making
- 10:29Speaker 1: switching easy. You get to keep your same cell phone number,

- 10:40Speaker 1: your needs and save you real money. You've got a

- 10:57Speaker 1: seven to two Patriot get free activation when you use

- 11:07Speaker 1: every phone. Call Patriot Bubble dot com slash ferguson or
- 11:11Speaker 1: nine to seven to Patriot. One other thing about Mike
- 11:15Speaker 1: Johnson that you need to understand is he was elected
- 11:18Speaker 1: to Congress in the America First Wave in twenty sixteen
- 11:22Speaker 1: with Donald Trump. That is important, a very important aspect
- 11:27Speaker 1: of who he is. So with his election a speaker,
- 11:31Speaker 1: he effectively what we have is, in a crazy way,
- 11:35Speaker 1: a Trump Republican takeover of Congress. So when people say
- 11:41Speaker 1: are we back, yeah, yeah, this is not a swamp guy.
- 11:45Speaker 1: This is a conservative, Maga Republican guy.
- 11:50Speaker 2: That's what you need to understand. This is a.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Guy that is sincere and authentic in his beliefs. He
- 11:58Speaker 1: has simplistic beliefs on what we need to do and
- 12:01Speaker 1: what he can do as a speaker dealing with the
- 12:04Speaker 1: budget and how out of control it is, dealing with
- 12:07Speaker 1: immigration and border security.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Keep listening to what he says.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Again, this is his historic speech right after being elected speaker.
- 12:15Speaker 4: We stand at a very dangerous time. I've stayed in
- 12:17Speaker 4: the obvious.
- 12:18Speaker 3: We all know that the world is in turmoil, but
- 12:20Speaker 3: a strong America is good for.
- 12:23Speaker 4: The entire world.
- 12:38Speaker 3: We are the beacon of freedom and we must preserve
- 12:40Speaker 3: this grand experiment and self governance it still is. We're
- 12:43Speaker 3: only two hundred and forty seven years into this grand experiment.
- 12:46Speaker 4: We don't know how long it will last, but we
- 12:48Speaker 4: do know that the.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Founders to take the founders told us to take good
- 12:51Speaker 3: care of it. I want to tell all my colleagues
- 12:54Speaker 3: here when I told the Republicans in that room last night,
- 12:57Speaker 3: I don't believe there are any coincidences in a matter
- 13:00Speaker 3: like this. I believe that scripture the Bible is very
- 13:04Speaker 3: clear that God is the one that raises up those
- 13:07Speaker 3: in authority. He raised up each of you, all of us,
- 13:10Speaker 3: and I believe that God has ordained and allowed you.
- 13:12Speaker 3: Hold on, let's just pause there.
- 13:15Speaker 1: You just heard a man who's the speaker of the
- 13:16Speaker 1: house now saying, I believe that God has ordained and
- 13:19Speaker 1: allowed each of us to be brought here together. Does
- 13:22Speaker 1: that sound like another speaker that we've had recently, No,
- 13:26Speaker 1: it is not.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Keep listening again.
- 13:30Speaker 1: This is a man who's openly talking about his faith.
- 13:34Speaker 1: He is proud of his faith. I'm going to back
- 13:38Speaker 1: it up a few seconds because I want you to
- 13:40Speaker 1: really listen.
- 13:41Speaker 3: Is the one that raises up those in authority. He
- 13:43Speaker 3: raised up each of you, all of us. And I
- 13:46Speaker 3: believe that God has ordained and allowed each one of
- 13:48Speaker 3: us to be brought here for this specific moment, in
- 13:50Speaker 3: this time.
- 13:51Speaker 4: This is my belief. I believe that.
- 13:53Speaker 3: Each one of us has a huge responsibility today to
- 13:56Speaker 3: use the gifts that God has given us to serve
- 13:58Speaker 3: the extraordinary people of this great and they deserve it,
- 14:01Speaker 3: and to ensure that our Republic remains standing as the
- 14:04Speaker 3: great beacon of light and hope and freedom. And a
- 14:07Speaker 3: world that desperately needs it. It was in nineteen sixty two,
- 14:24Speaker 3: in nineteen sixty two that our national motto, in God
- 14:27Speaker 3: we Trust, was adorned above this rostrum.
- 14:31Speaker 4: And if you look at the little guide that.
- 14:32Speaker 3: They give tourists and constituents who come and visit the house,
- 14:37Speaker 3: if you turn in there to about page fourteen, in
- 14:39Speaker 3: the middle of that guide, it tells you the history
- 14:40Speaker 3: of this and it says very simply, these words were
- 14:43Speaker 3: placed here above us. This motto was placed here as
- 14:46Speaker 3: a rebuke of the Cold War era philosophy of the
- 14:49Speaker 3: Soviet Union. That philosophy was Marxism and communism, which begins
- 14:56Speaker 3: with the premise that there is no God. This is
- 14:59Speaker 3: a critic distinction that is also articulated in our nation's
- 15:03Speaker 3: birth certificate. We know the language well, the famous second
- 15:07Speaker 3: paragraph that we used to have children memorize in school.
- 15:10Speaker 3: And they don't do that so often anymore, but they should.
- 15:14Speaker 2: GK.
- 15:14Speaker 3: Chesterson was the famous British philosopher and statesman, and he
- 15:17Speaker 3: said one time America is the only nation in the
- 15:20Speaker 3: world that is founded upon a creed. And he said
- 15:23Speaker 3: it's listed with almost theological lucidity in the Declaration of Independence.
- 15:27Speaker 4: What is our creed?
- 15:29Speaker 3: We hold these truths to be self evident, that all
- 15:32Speaker 3: men are created equal, not born equal, created equal, and
- 15:37Speaker 3: they are dowed by the same inalienable rights, with the
- 15:40Speaker 3: same inalienable rights life, liberty, pursuit of happiness. That is
- 15:45Speaker 3: the creed that has animated our nation since its founding,
- 15:47Speaker 3: that has made us the great nation that we are.
- 15:50Speaker 3: And we're in a time of extraordinary crisis right now,
- 15:53Speaker 3: and the world needs us to be strong. They need
- 15:55Speaker 3: us to remember our creed and our admonition. Turmoil and
- 15:59Speaker 3: violence of right to Middle East and Eastern Europe. We
- 16:01Speaker 3: all know what intentions continue to build in the Indo Pacific.
- 16:05Speaker 3: The country demands strong leadership of this body, and we
- 16:08Speaker 3: must not waver. Our nation's greatest ally in the Middle
- 16:12Speaker 3: East is under attack. The first bill that I'm going
- 16:15Speaker 3: to bring to this floor in just a little while,
- 16:19Speaker 3: we'll be in support of our dear friend Israel, and
- 16:21Speaker 3: we're overdue and getting that done. We're going to show
- 16:35Speaker 3: not only Israel, but the entire world that the barbarism
- 16:39Speaker 3: of Hamas that we have all seen play out on
- 16:41Speaker 3: our television screens is wretched and wrong and We're going
- 16:45Speaker 3: to stand for the good in that conflict. We have
- 16:49Speaker 3: a catastrophe at our southern border. The Senate in the
- 16:52Speaker 3: White House can no longer ignore the problem. From Texas
- 16:55Speaker 3: to New York, wave after wave of illegal migrants are
- 16:59Speaker 3: stress in our community to their breaking points. We know
- 17:01Speaker 3: that our streets are being flooded with fentanyl and all
- 17:04Speaker 3: of our communities, children and even adults are dying from it.
- 17:09Speaker 3: The status quo is unacceptable. Inaction is unacceptable, and we
- 17:14Speaker 3: must come together and address the broken border.
- 17:17Speaker 4: We have to do it.
- 17:33Speaker 3: The skyrocketing cost of living is unsustainable, and Americans should
- 17:37Speaker 3: not have to worry about how they're going to feed
- 17:39Speaker 3: their family every week because they can't afford their groceries anymore.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Everybody in this room should think about this. Here's the stats.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Prices have increased over seventeen percent in the last two years.
- 17:50Speaker 3: Credit card interest rates are at the highest level in
- 17:52Speaker 3: nearly three decades. In mortgage rates are now at a
- 17:55Speaker 3: peak we haven't seen since two thousand and one. We
- 17:58Speaker 3: have to bring relief to the American people by reigning
- 18:02Speaker 3: in federal spending and bringing down inflation. The greatest threat
- 18:16Speaker 3: to our national security is our nation's debts, and while
- 18:19Speaker 3: we've been sitting in this room, that's right that the
- 18:24Speaker 3: debt has crossed almost thirty three point six trillion dollars
- 18:28Speaker 3: and the time that it's going to take me to
- 18:30Speaker 3: deliver this speech will go up another twenty million in debt.
- 18:33Speaker 3: It's unsustainable. We have to get the country back on track.
- 18:37Speaker 4: Now.
- 18:37Speaker 3: We know this is not going to be an easy
- 18:39Speaker 3: task and tough decisions will have to be made, but
- 18:42Speaker 3: the consequences if we don't act now are unbearable. We
- 18:46Speaker 3: have a duty to the American people to explain this
- 18:49Speaker 3: to them so they understand it well. And we are
- 18:52Speaker 3: going to establish a bipartisan Debt Commission to begin working
- 18:56Speaker 3: on this crisis immediately.
- 18:58Speaker 4: Immediately.
- 19:10Speaker 3: We all know that we also live in a time
- 19:12Speaker 3: of bitter partisanship. It was noted and it's been on
- 19:15Speaker 3: display here today. Right when our people are losing their
- 19:19Speaker 3: faith in government, when they're losing sight of the principles
- 19:23Speaker 3: that made us the greatest nation in the history of
- 19:26Speaker 3: the world.
- 19:27Speaker 4: I think we got to be mindful of that. We're
- 19:29Speaker 4: going to fight.
- 19:30Speaker 3: We're going to fight vigorously over our core principles because
- 19:35Speaker 3: there are odds a lot of times now in this
- 19:37Speaker 3: modern era, we have to sacrifice sometimes our preferences because
- 19:40Speaker 3: that's what's necessary in a legislative body. But we will
- 19:43Speaker 3: defend our core principles to the end, and it's farewell address,
- 19:47Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 19:52Speaker 1: If you want to know why this fight for this
- 19:57Speaker 1: speaker was worth it, all you have to do is
- 20:01Speaker 1: listen to what this man has just said. He's talked
- 20:05Speaker 1: about God, he's talked about country. He's talked about the
- 20:09Speaker 1: biggest threat to this country is our unsustainable debt. He says,
- 20:12Speaker 1: while while I'm giving this speech, our national debt is
- 20:15Speaker 1: going to go up by twenty million dollars. It's unsustainable.
- 20:18Speaker 1: It's a threat to our future as a country. He's
- 20:21Speaker 1: talked about the border. He's talked about us coming together
- 20:24Speaker 1: on basic principles and not overreaching the things that we
- 20:27Speaker 1: don't need to be involved in. This is why this
- 20:31Speaker 1: speaker fight was worth it. So the question that I
- 20:34Speaker 1: am going to be asked a million times is is
- 20:37Speaker 1: this worth it? Was this fight worth it? The answer
- 20:40Speaker 1: is absolutely, Because when you get somebody like this that,
- 20:44Speaker 1: by the way, this man was not on anybody's radar screen.
- 20:47Speaker 2: I want to be very clear about that.
- 20:50Speaker 1: We are getting him as a blessing in disguise because
- 20:52Speaker 1: we got rid of McCarthy. We had to sacrifice some
- 20:56Speaker 1: candidates like Jim Jordan.
- 20:57Speaker 2: I hate that.
- 20:58Speaker 1: I think Jim would have been a amazing speaker, But
- 21:01Speaker 1: to get Speaker Johnson, which is is now going to
- 21:05Speaker 1: be one of the biggest blessings in disguise.
- 21:10Speaker 2: So should you be excited? Yes? Should you be proud
- 21:14Speaker 2: of this fight? Yes?
- 21:16Speaker 1: Did the world end because of us not having a
- 21:18Speaker 1: speaker for the last three weeks?
- 21:19Speaker 2: It did not.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Everything the Left was freaking out over and claiming and
- 21:24Speaker 1: trying to make these hits on us. None of it happened, folks,
- 21:28Speaker 1: And we got a good speaker because of this fight.
- 21:32Speaker 1: You gotta imagine the left as they're listening to this
- 21:36Speaker 1: new speaker Johnson, and they're sitting there going, are you
- 21:38Speaker 1: kidding me? Like, you know, they're judging him. You know,
- 21:41Speaker 1: they're judging this man's faith, they're judging that this man
- 21:46Speaker 1: is from flyover country. They're judging this man because he's
- 21:50Speaker 1: talking about principles and values that they have pure disdain for.
- 21:56Speaker 1: He's talking about things like fiscal response onsibility will be
- 22:01Speaker 1: what brings down this country. He's talking about national security issues.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Notice that there's nothing that he has said so far
- 22:08Speaker 1: that has been extreme or radical. Notice that if you're liberal,
- 22:14Speaker 1: you're going to say it's extreme and radical. Right, defend
- 22:16Speaker 1: your country, put your country first. This is a maga conservative,
- 22:21Speaker 1: is what. This is a man that came into Congress
- 22:23Speaker 1: in twenty sixteen as a as a straight up maga conservative,
- 22:27Speaker 1: a Donald Trump candidate.
- 22:29Speaker 2: This is something for me that screams success.
- 22:38Speaker 1: This is a simplistic approach to government's role and a
- 22:42Speaker 1: simplistic approach that we should all be able to get behind.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Right. This is simplistic in a good way. I want
- 22:49Speaker 2: to understand this.
- 22:50Speaker 1: This doesn't have to always be complicated, Okay, things don't
- 22:54Speaker 1: always have to be.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Overly spun.
- 22:59Speaker 1: This is a man that says, I think I know
- 23:01Speaker 1: what my job is here, and I think I know
- 23:03Speaker 1: how we need to do it, and I understand what
- 23:06Speaker 1: we need to do moving forward, and we need to
- 23:08Speaker 1: start saying no to a lot of things instead of
- 23:10Speaker 1: saying yes to a lot of government waste. Government's role
- 23:15Speaker 1: should be limited, not extended, in everything that we do.
- 23:20Speaker 1: That's another thing here that I think is really important
- 23:24Speaker 1: is He's not talking about spending money, He's talking about
- 23:27Speaker 1: saving money. He also understands history. Again, keep listening, and
- 23:34Speaker 1: I playing the more larger clips here because no one
- 23:37Speaker 1: knows Mike Johnson. I want you to know who this
- 23:40Speaker 1: guy is. Here's more of what he had to say
- 23:42Speaker 1: to Congress.
- 23:43Speaker 3: In his farewell address, Thank You, and his farewell addressed,
- 23:50Speaker 3: President Reagan explained the secret of his rapport with people,
- 23:55Speaker 3: and I like to paraphrase his explanation.
- 23:57Speaker 4: All the time.
- 23:57Speaker 3: He said, you know, they call me the great communicator,
- 24:00Speaker 3: but I really wasn't that. He said, I was just
- 24:02Speaker 3: communicating great things, and that the same great things that
- 24:06Speaker 3: they've guided in our nation since its founding.
- 24:08Speaker 4: What are those great things?
- 24:10Speaker 3: I call them the seven core principles of American Conservatism.
- 24:13Speaker 4: But let me concede to you all.
- 24:15Speaker 3: I think it's really quintessentially the core principles of our nation.
- 24:19Speaker 4: I've boil them down.
- 24:20Speaker 3: The individual freedom, limited government, the rule of law, peace
- 24:24Speaker 3: through strength, fiscal responsibility, free markets, and human dignity. Those
- 24:30Speaker 3: are the foundations that made us the extraordinary nation that
- 24:33Speaker 3: we are. And you and I today are the stewards
- 24:36Speaker 3: of those principles. The things that have made us the freest,
- 24:40Speaker 3: most powerful, most successful nation in the history of the world.
- 24:43Speaker 3: The things that have made us truly exceptional. And this
- 24:48Speaker 3: time of great crisis, it is our duty to work
- 24:50Speaker 3: together as previous generations of great leaders have, to face
- 24:53Speaker 3: these great challenges and solve these great problems.
- 24:56Speaker 4: I will conclude with this. The job of the.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Speaker of the House is to serve the whole body,
- 25:01Speaker 3: and I will. But I've made a commitment to my
- 25:04Speaker 3: colleagues here that this Speaker's office is going to be
- 25:07Speaker 3: known for decentralizing the power here.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Decentralizing the power here. You just had a Speaker of
- 25:19Speaker 1: the House. And this is why it was worth getting
- 25:21Speaker 1: rid of Kevin McCarthy, who says, we don't need this
- 25:24Speaker 1: much power in WASHINGT d C. In fact, we need
- 25:27Speaker 1: to decentralize the power in Washington, d C. Washington has
- 25:33Speaker 1: become too powerful, is what he's saying. You think Speaker
- 25:38Speaker 1: McCarthy would ever say that. You think Nancy Pelosi would
- 25:41Speaker 1: ever say that. You think John Bayner would have ever
- 25:44Speaker 1: said that that we need to get rid of the
- 25:48Speaker 1: power structure that we have here. They would never say that.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Why would they never say it? Because they don't believe it.
- 25:57Speaker 1: They're drunk on power. You know, there's something truly incredible
- 26:02Speaker 1: about how this guy even became the speaker. And I
- 26:04Speaker 1: mean that in the in the in the kindest way possible, Like,
- 26:07Speaker 1: I mean that sincerely. I love leaders that are that
- 26:11Speaker 1: are called to lead because of circumstance, not because they
- 26:16Speaker 1: are wanting the jobs so badly they're willing to make
- 26:19Speaker 1: any deal possible to get it right. That was John Bayner,
- 26:23Speaker 1: that was Paul Ryan, that was Kevin McCarthy. They wanted
- 26:27Speaker 1: that power so badly, and centralize that power, and expand
- 26:32Speaker 1: that power, and and and and sell that power to
- 26:36Speaker 1: the highest bidder or lobbyists or donor. This is a guy, now,
- 26:41Speaker 1: this speaker, who's talking about decentralizing that power.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Hey, I don't I don't think we should be this powerful.
- 26:48Speaker 1: I don't think the United States government should be this
- 26:50Speaker 1: powerful in this way. This is going back to the
- 26:53Speaker 1: issue of states rights. And remember there are there are
- 26:57Speaker 1: Republicans that believe that government spending should always be through
- 27:00Speaker 1: the roof, because if it is, then that means they're
- 27:03Speaker 1: the most powerful branch of government. This is a guy
- 27:06Speaker 1: who's saying that that is our Achilles heel is a
- 27:08Speaker 1: nation that we do not need to be spending. There
- 27:13Speaker 1: are a lot of Republicans that would never go along
- 27:15Speaker 1: with that idea because they are like, well, hold on,
- 27:18Speaker 1: are you saying that I'm going to give up power.
- 27:20Speaker 1: You're saying that you want us to not be as
- 27:22Speaker 1: powerful as a body and give power back to the
- 27:26Speaker 1: people in power on many issues back to the States.
- 27:29Speaker 1: This is like complete foreign language to many Republicans in Washington,
- 27:35Speaker 1: certainly the Democrats. And he's saying it, and not only
- 27:40Speaker 1: did he say it, he got a standing ovation from
- 27:42Speaker 1: the Republican side when he said it.
- 27:44Speaker 3: Listen, my office is going to be known for members
- 27:55Speaker 3: being more involved and having more influence in our processes
- 27:58Speaker 3: and all the major decisions that are made here, for
- 28:00Speaker 3: predictable processes and regular order.
- 28:03Speaker 4: We owe that to the people.
- 28:05Speaker 3: Correct, And I'm going to make this commitment to you,
- 28:11Speaker 3: to my colleagues here and on the other side of
- 28:13Speaker 3: the isle as well.
- 28:14Speaker 4: My office is.
- 28:15Speaker 3: Going to be known for trust and transparency and accountability,
- 28:19Speaker 3: for good stewardship of the people's treasure, for the honesty
- 28:22Speaker 3: integrity that is incumbent upon us, all of us here
- 28:26Speaker 3: in the People's House.
- 28:28Speaker 4: Our system of government is not a perfect system.
- 28:31Speaker 3: It's got a lot of challenges, but it is still
- 28:34Speaker 3: the best one in the world, and we have an
- 28:36Speaker 3: opportunity to preserve it. Last thing I'm going to say
- 28:52Speaker 3: is a message to the rest of the world. They
- 28:55Speaker 3: have been watching this drama play out for a few weeks.
- 28:57Speaker 3: We've learned a lot of lessons. But you know what,
- 28:59Speaker 3: through adverse, it makes you stronger. Yeah, and we want
- 29:05Speaker 3: our allies around the world to know that this body
- 29:08Speaker 3: of lawmakers is reporting again to our duty stations. Let
- 29:13Speaker 3: the enemies of freedom around the world hear us loud
- 29:16Speaker 3: and clear. The People's House is back in business.
- 29:25Speaker 1: Representative Mike Johnson giving his historic speech after being elected.
- 29:29Speaker 1: I wanted you to hear from him, so you know
- 29:32Speaker 1: who he is. Can you be proud of this choice?
- 29:35Speaker 2: Yes? Was it worth the pain of the last three weeks? Absolutely?
- 29:41Speaker 1: Is this something that happened that I want to happen
- 29:44Speaker 1: on a regular basis, Absolutely not. But what I can
- 29:48Speaker 1: tell you is this, this is a major step in
- 29:51Speaker 1: the right direction for this country and our government and
- 29:56Speaker 1: getting rid of Kevin McCarthy and replacing Kevin McCarthy with
- 29:59Speaker 1: a man like This is a huge step forward. Congratulations
- 30:05Speaker 1: to Speaker Johnson. I look forward to having him on
- 30:07Speaker 1: this show very soon and letting you guys hear from him.
- 30:11Speaker 1: But pay attention to what he said and the promises
- 30:14Speaker 1: that he made. He didn't make a lot of policy promises.
- 30:18Speaker 1: He made promises about a smaller government, a limited government
- 30:21Speaker 1: with less power and less spending that is different than
- 30:25Speaker 1: what we usually hear. He made promises about fighting to
- 30:28Speaker 1: secure a border and being a country of laws. That
- 30:31Speaker 1: is something we can all be proud of. Make sure
- 30:34Speaker 1: you share this podcast with your family and your friends,
- 30:37Speaker 1: and I will see you back here tomorrow.
