- 0:25Speaker 1: making conversations. I got the thumbs up for my man Terence.
- 0:30Speaker 1: He said, you're ready to Sean. Last week, I was
- 0:33Speaker 1: hit with the phone call from a man dealer. A
- 0:36Speaker 1: man deala said is this for real? At first, all
- 0:40Speaker 1: I heard was negative spirit. When he said is this
- 0:43Speaker 1: for real? I just slow it down for a minute
- 0:46Speaker 1: because I thought he was gonna blow me up because
- 0:49Speaker 1: I don't record my phone calls. All my phone calls
- 0:52Speaker 1: are live. So I paused and I asked him what
- 0:56Speaker 1: did he mean? He said, is this for real? I
- 1:00Speaker 1: like this show. I just can't believe that you're doing
- 1:03Speaker 1: this for us. Then he proclaimed me to be the
- 1:06Speaker 1: Black Moses. Lead us, Rashan McDonald, lead us with money

- 1:15Speaker 1: because that's what money making conversations is all about. And
- 1:18Speaker 1: what it did for me was he locked it down
- 1:21Speaker 1: for me. Accept your responsibilities. That's what all he was
- 1:24Speaker 1: telling me, Rashan McDonald, Accept your responsibilities because we're willing
- 1:29Speaker 1: to listen, we're willing to learn. You're giving us an

- 2:36Speaker 1: History for me is on this phone call. My next
- 2:38Speaker 1: guest is best known for his roles on the sitcom's
- 2:42Speaker 1: Sister Sister and the BT romantic comedy Less Stayed Together,
- 2:46Speaker 1: but now he plays a critically acclaimed role is arguably
- 2:51Speaker 1: one of the strongest African American characters on television and
- 2:54Speaker 1: stars Survivors Remorse. Please welcome to money making Conversations run
- 2:59Speaker 1: Red cod LEA wow for for a boy yat to listen.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Yeall know how to make a brother feel very welcome.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Thank you so much for having me and is an
- 3:10Speaker 1: honor and a pleasure. First of all, Ron Rico, I
- 3:14Speaker 1: can hear the humbleness in your voice, and that's what
- 3:17Speaker 1: makes you special. Man. I got you for two breaks
- 3:19Speaker 1: because I got a lot to talk about, because it's
- 3:22Speaker 1: a journey that you are dealing with in your life
- 3:25Speaker 1: to be as successful entrepreneur in the career in the
- 3:28Speaker 1: field of entertainment. And and there's a show I'm gonna
- 3:31Speaker 1: just tell you something, um, Survivor's Remorse. First of all,
- 3:37Speaker 1: just tell me what does that title mean before we
- 3:39Speaker 1: get into the ny detail. What does that title meaning
- 3:41Speaker 1: Survivor's Remorse. Well, it's funny because that the show's inception. Obviously,
- 3:45Speaker 1: this show is is ultimately the brain child of Lebron
- 3:49Speaker 1: James and Maverick Carter. And as they've experienced success, and
- 3:53Speaker 1: my goodness, they've experienced it to such a great degree. Uh,
- 3:57Speaker 1: they've often referred to this see league of having remorse
- 4:01Speaker 1: because they've survived, survived their circumstances, and they've often felt
- 4:05Speaker 1: this pool to go back and to help and feel
- 4:07Speaker 1: bad when they can't do everything for everybody. So that's
- 4:10Speaker 1: where the show's title comes from. It really ultimately comes
- 4:13Speaker 1: from them and a feeling that they've had over the
- 4:16Speaker 1: years as they've grown and expanded their territory, and so
- 4:20Speaker 1: they've often felt this survivor's remorse. Okay, I'm gonna just
- 4:24Speaker 1: tell you just right now, I'm talking to interviewed right now,
- 4:26Speaker 1: Rico Lead on this one of the two stars of
- 4:29Speaker 1: the Stars series Survivor's Remorse. Rom Rico, you can talk
- 4:33Speaker 1: to me about this show. I know you're serious. I
- 4:36Speaker 1: watched this serious, So anything you want to talk about
- 4:38Speaker 1: you can bring it up to me. I know all
- 4:40Speaker 1: the characters. I'm not one of those guys just bring
- 4:42Speaker 1: you on the radio. Know a little bit. I watched
- 4:44Speaker 1: this serious. In fact, my wife cried on the on
- 4:48Speaker 1: the episode after if people I'm gonna do it if
- 4:51Speaker 1: they haven't seen this series, I gotta tell you this.
- 4:53Speaker 1: But the mic episode after everybody was in the hospital,
- 4:56Speaker 1: my wife cried on that episode. I look back at
- 4:59Speaker 1: you got to be in episodes like this. It's just that.
- 5:05Speaker 1: So you could talk to me about this seriously, I
- 5:07Speaker 1: want to talk to you about this series and other
- 5:09Speaker 1: things that you're doing in your life, but also the
- 5:11Speaker 1: fact that when you when you get a character like
- 5:14Speaker 1: this man, and I'm gonna just tell you what I'm
- 5:15Speaker 1: gonna just tell you. When I watch you, man, you know,
- 5:18Speaker 1: it's like impressive brother and and and and and and
- 5:23Speaker 1: and their layers in it, and I want you to
- 5:26Speaker 1: tell me about it because some of them remind me
- 5:28Speaker 1: of me when I when in my early years of
- 5:31Speaker 1: managing Steve Harvey, because I was angry a lot, because
- 5:36Speaker 1: I had nowhere to turn because everybody looked at me
- 5:39Speaker 1: for information and sometimes I didn't have the information. And
- 5:43Speaker 1: if you and you, if you're looking, if you're perceived
- 5:45Speaker 1: to be the answer man. Plus you know, I managed
- 5:49Speaker 1: him in l A. So I was constanly surrounded by
- 5:51Speaker 1: you know that that that gang world, you know, because
- 5:53Speaker 1: everybody came to us, and so I see you step
- 5:56Speaker 1: in and out of that a lot, and so so
- 5:59Speaker 1: the did the drain on that character for you emotionally
- 6:02Speaker 1: tell me about it. You know, it's it's tough man
- 6:06Speaker 1: and and the funny thing and people may or may
- 6:08Speaker 1: not know, but you know, Rashawn was you know, you
- 6:11Speaker 1: and I worked together when I first moved to l
- 6:13Speaker 1: A and I had so much to learn, and so
- 6:16Speaker 1: I looked back in the late nineties to taken on
- 6:19Speaker 1: a role, to taken on a role like this and
- 6:21Speaker 1: all honesty, man, if the way God works, if God
- 6:25Speaker 1: has shown me the amount of responsibility that the page count,
- 6:28Speaker 1: the emotional uh depths I'd have to go to for
- 6:32Speaker 1: this role, I don't know if I would have accepted
- 6:34Speaker 1: it early on, just because I wasn't a percent sure
- 6:37Speaker 1: that it was in me. But having said that God
- 6:40Speaker 1: never gets anything that you can't handle, it has truly
- 6:43Speaker 1: been beyond the blessing for me to explore this character,
- 6:47Speaker 1: to be given the free range to really explore it
- 6:50Speaker 1: and go deep. They've challenged me on so many different levels,
- 6:53Speaker 1: and really, uh, you know, just taught me that there
- 6:56Speaker 1: was a a artists in me that I ain't even
- 6:59Speaker 1: know was there. And um and and that's really what
- 7:02Speaker 1: this role has been. You know, the feedback, the you know,
- 7:05Speaker 1: the lack of positive African American males on television and movies. Uh,
- 7:11Speaker 1: you know it being able to portray this character and
- 7:14Speaker 1: get the type of love that I get from the
- 7:16Speaker 1: community is a reward that it's just I can't even
- 7:20Speaker 1: begin to tell you. Um, it just feels really great
- 7:24Speaker 1: and um and it's just a testament to you know, uh,
- 7:27Speaker 1: enduring the the you know this bi business in peace
- 7:31Speaker 1: the valley and uh, you know, there's far more values
- 7:34Speaker 1: in the our peaks. So when you can get to
- 7:36Speaker 1: a role like this and and be given the free
- 7:38Speaker 1: reigin to dig in, uh, it's just truly a bus
- 7:41Speaker 1: and truly an honor. Right. You know. It's funny because
- 7:44Speaker 1: ron Rico mentioned my name early in his career and
- 7:47Speaker 1: just get just just go a little deeper on that one.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Is that I was young producer writer on the series
- 7:52Speaker 1: Sister Sister, and UH had the opportunity to be in
- 7:55Speaker 1: the casting room and cast them to be one of
- 7:58Speaker 1: the love interests for one of the runs to the
- 8:00Speaker 1: character they was Tarik Scott and and the thing about it,
- 8:04Speaker 1: and we developed a relationship off camera when he would
- 8:07Speaker 1: talk to me and come to me and he and
- 8:10Speaker 1: one of the things that always always trip me out
- 8:14Speaker 1: about him was he always wanted to know what to
- 8:16Speaker 1: do with his money. Yeah, he come serious story, Now
- 8:20Speaker 1: you come to my time? How we sit down here?
- 8:22Speaker 1: Can I come and talk to you? Because you know,
- 8:24Speaker 1: I'm making a little money. I don't want to mess
- 8:26Speaker 1: it up, and you know, and young actors don't do that,
- 8:29Speaker 1: which means that he always had a plan that this
- 8:32Speaker 1: was gonna be his career and he didn't want to
- 8:34Speaker 1: mess it up, and he wanted to know what the
- 8:36Speaker 1: money he made, what to do with it? What was
- 8:38Speaker 1: they want philosophy back then? Because I love the fact
- 8:42Speaker 1: that you know I'm now doing and that's been my
- 8:44Speaker 1: crusade now is telling people how they advanced, how to
- 8:47Speaker 1: tell people to move their careers forward. And I basically
- 8:50Speaker 1: was doing this as a hobby way back then. I
- 8:54Speaker 1: wanted to say, Rico, you were my first client. You
- 8:58Speaker 1: know what, I'm proud to be of first plaan man.
- 9:00Speaker 1: I remember that day in Park Libre when I met you.
- 9:04Speaker 1: We went and had lunch. You took me to a
- 9:05Speaker 1: Harolin bells for the first time and uh and then
- 9:09Speaker 1: we went down to Santiago. You took me down to
- 9:11Speaker 1: your one of your tailors and uh we but really
- 9:15Speaker 1: what I remember sitting down in in in your townhouse
- 9:18Speaker 1: and I remember we got you got the newspaper and
- 9:20Speaker 1: we started looking at stocks and I remember at the
- 9:23Speaker 1: time you were very very heavy on a O L
- 9:25Speaker 1: it always stands out and taught me how to look
- 9:28Speaker 1: at those stocks. Um and um. You know, it was
- 9:32Speaker 1: just you had something, uh aura about you that really
- 9:35Speaker 1: drew me to you. And the beauty of you was
- 9:37Speaker 1: that you made time any time and you and I
- 9:42Speaker 1: said it in a post earlier today, man sees that
- 9:44Speaker 1: you sold you You so season me that I still
- 9:48Speaker 1: to this day, UH reap the benefits of things that
- 9:52Speaker 1: you taught me, things that you just in terms of
- 9:54Speaker 1: how you've never was again you said, man, never give
- 9:56Speaker 1: l A your money. I was always amazing the fact
- 9:58Speaker 1: that you had a place in l A, but your
- 10:00Speaker 1: base was still in Houston, I believe. And you had
- 10:03Speaker 1: a whole system. You had You had a really nice
- 10:05Speaker 1: vehicle that you drove the work, you know, Monday through Friday.
- 10:08Speaker 1: After we take you had a Suzuki side kick. I
- 10:10Speaker 1: believe that you would drive to the airport and I
- 10:14Speaker 1: remember thinking, like, wait a minute, you mean it's possible
- 10:16Speaker 1: for me to go back to where I was raised
- 10:20Speaker 1: and still be able to have a career in l A.
- 10:23Speaker 1: And my my goal from that moment on was to
- 10:26Speaker 1: do whatever I had to do to make sure that
- 10:29Speaker 1: when it came kind of settle down to buy a house,
- 10:31Speaker 1: to get me have kids, I would be able to do.
- 10:34Speaker 1: You know that in Georgia because what Houston was, you
- 10:36Speaker 1: Georgia was for me. Uh you know, man, what you
- 10:40Speaker 1: the time you took from me back being again. Man,
- 10:43Speaker 1: I was early twenties, so we're talking, you know, two
- 10:46Speaker 1: decades later, Man, I am still still drawing from that information,
- 10:51Speaker 1: still drawing from that knowledge, Man, and I just had.
- 10:53Speaker 1: And that's just you know, that's just on the business side.
- 10:56Speaker 1: There were things you imparted to me as an artist
- 10:59Speaker 1: that I still to this day. You know, I never forget. Man.
- 11:02Speaker 1: You probably don't remember this, but you know when I
- 11:04Speaker 1: started on Sister Sister, Sister Sister was the first four
- 11:07Speaker 1: camera show I've ever done. It was really the first
- 11:10Speaker 1: comedy I've ever done. For a lot of actors when
- 11:13Speaker 1: you're when you come into that comedy where you're still
- 11:15Speaker 1: trying to get your feelings. You know, you're trying to
- 11:17Speaker 1: trying to find your footing. And I remember you guys
- 11:20Speaker 1: cast Dion Richmond opposite right the same time Dian and
- 11:23Speaker 1: I got cast. They show yes and and came up
- 11:28Speaker 1: in a in a you know, under the tulage of
- 11:30Speaker 1: a comedic genius with Bill Cosby, and so I found
- 11:33Speaker 1: myself and you noticed that what I started doing was
- 11:36Speaker 1: kind of aligning my comedy to Dion's comedy. I'll never
- 11:39Speaker 1: forget this. May or may not remember. We was at
- 11:41Speaker 1: craft service. You just can't tat me to show, said,
- 11:43Speaker 1: let me touch you for a second. We when and
- 11:45Speaker 1: we sat down and basically what you were saying to
- 11:48Speaker 1: me was find your own voice. You know, we've brought
- 11:52Speaker 1: Dion in to do what Dion does. We don't need
- 11:55Speaker 1: you to do what Dian. We need you to do
- 11:57Speaker 1: what you do. And I remember feeling I'm not only
- 12:00Speaker 1: remember initially feeling hurt because as an actor you're sensitive, trapped,
- 12:04Speaker 1: YadA yadi. But the more I thought about it, man,
- 12:07Speaker 1: it was some of the most vital information that had
- 12:10Speaker 1: ever been imparted on me because what it urged me
- 12:12Speaker 1: to do, what it pushed me to do, was to
- 12:14Speaker 1: create what was my funny, not somebody else's funny. And Man,
- 12:18Speaker 1: so I just want you to know that not only
- 12:20Speaker 1: from a business standpoint of financial standpoint, but just from
- 12:24Speaker 1: a career standpoint, Man, you also imparted knowledge and so
- 12:28Speaker 1: sees in me that to this day I still draw
- 12:31Speaker 1: upon me. And I've never told you thank you for that,
- 12:34Speaker 1: but I appreciate it, man, because you could have very
- 12:36Speaker 1: easily allowed me to continue down that path. And you
- 12:39Speaker 1: know I never would have developed my own voice you,
- 12:42Speaker 1: but you took that time out, man, and that's a
- 12:44Speaker 1: that's something God gave you, man, and it's it's listen
- 12:47Speaker 1: if you're If you've been a blessing to me, I
- 12:49Speaker 1: can only imagine the other people, the thousands and thousands
- 12:53Speaker 1: of other people that you've been a blessing to. Man.
- 12:55Speaker 1: So I thank you about my heart. I appreciate you
- 12:58Speaker 1: because when I've asked you to come to the Able Awards,
- 13:00Speaker 1: the Uplift Everyday people, You've shown up. And I know
- 13:04Speaker 1: your schedule is busy, and the thing about it, man,
- 13:06Speaker 1: I appreciate everything that you're saying about me. I appreciate
- 13:10Speaker 1: the fact that you have become the man that I
- 13:12Speaker 1: knew you could become. And when I watched and I
- 13:15Speaker 1: watched the series, Survivor's remarks if it premiers this Sunday,
- 13:19Speaker 1: August twinter Um from m Chuck. You know, to Cam's character,
- 13:24Speaker 1: it's not about them playing on the basketball court, is
- 13:27Speaker 1: their lives off the court, you know, the new character Chin,
- 13:31Speaker 1: his character, and the diversity of the cast, your wife, Missy,
- 13:35Speaker 1: you know, it's really what it is. Is there, they're
- 13:38Speaker 1: they're they're from the Boston area, Dorchester, Boston area and
- 13:43Speaker 1: they moved down to Atlanta, Georgia. That's the setting. And
- 13:46Speaker 1: he plays for the Atlanta Hawks, Okay, and the onner
- 13:51Speaker 1: the team is in their lives and in fact, let's
- 13:53Speaker 1: look I wanted. I'm just I'm just building a picture
- 13:56Speaker 1: for everybody who may have not seen the show. Because
- 13:59Speaker 1: the one thing I like about the show, and this's
- 14:00Speaker 1: just this is the thing about it's a great show
- 14:02Speaker 1: to bend watch. It's a great show to bend watch
- 14:05Speaker 1: if you have not. It's going into season four, and
- 14:07Speaker 1: the great thing about it is that this show will
- 14:10Speaker 1: make you cry and this show will make you laugh
- 14:12Speaker 1: in the very next scene. It will make you angry.
- 14:16Speaker 1: It will make you understand, you know, I think you
- 14:19Speaker 1: understand relationships. It'll make you understand the lesbian gay community.
- 14:25Speaker 1: And I'll make you feel sympathy for everybody who has
- 14:29Speaker 1: uh an emotional plan in life that may not go right,
- 14:32Speaker 1: even though they even though we all wanted to right
- 14:35Speaker 1: go right. One of my favorite they're telling me you
- 14:37Speaker 1: got to go to commercial. Rico, hold on, man, because
- 14:39Speaker 1: I got because you know the Jupiter character, the Sean Hey,
- 14:46Speaker 1: come on back, I got my ma reco league star
- 14:49Speaker 1: of the Stars series Survivors Remorse. We'll be back with
- 14:53Speaker 1: more money making conversations. He just did a testimony for
- 14:55Speaker 1: me in the first act. The second act, that's gonna
- 14:58Speaker 1: be a second break. When we come back, we're gonna
- 15:00Speaker 1: talk about his career, where he's going. He wants to
- 15:02Speaker 1: be a director. He's the father of two sons, but
- 15:04Speaker 1: more importantly he is But Ricos leave because Hi, I'm
- 15:13Speaker 1: back to the Sean McDonald of money making conversations. I
- 15:16Speaker 1: have on the phone. One of the stars of Survivor's Remorse.
- 15:20Speaker 1: It premieres August. Guest stars this upcoming season would be
- 15:24Speaker 1: my man, Isaiah Washington. He would be playing Cam's father,
- 15:28Speaker 1: d J. Cally Isaiah Whitlock Van. That's about Callaway. This
- 15:33Speaker 1: is some of the stars that will be, you know,
- 15:35Speaker 1: stepping in playing different roles on Survivor's Remorse this season.
- 15:39Speaker 1: But this right now, I got one of the stars,
- 15:42Speaker 1: an old friend, a person I'm so proud of just
- 15:45Speaker 1: because what he's doing on the on the TV screen
- 15:48Speaker 1: right now, it's amazing. It's amazing. I'm telling you. When
- 15:53Speaker 1: I've been I've been casting people, I've been watching people,
- 15:55Speaker 1: I've been fortunate to produce hit movies, he TV, hit
- 15:58Speaker 1: TV shows into watch your talent like ron Rico Lee
- 16:01Speaker 1: do his thing effortlessly, efforleently. It's amazing and I'm blessed
- 16:06Speaker 1: to have him on the call right now. Uh, Rodrico,
- 16:09Speaker 1: you still have my friend? Okay, tell me about this
- 16:13Speaker 1: the Father episode, Brother whoa Go? The Father episode? Come on, man,
- 16:22Speaker 1: oh day, you something man that episode And I'm gonna
- 16:25Speaker 1: let you talk because I want you to break down
- 16:27Speaker 1: the steps because that had to be one of those
- 16:30Speaker 1: episodes where you had to go there emotionally and when
- 16:33Speaker 1: you wrapped up, you couldn't do too many retakes because
- 16:39Speaker 1: in the basement boxing and your girl coming down the
- 16:42Speaker 1: steps and you throw out that little cute little Joe
- 16:44Speaker 1: going up the steps. Nice teddy, Come on now, tell
- 16:50Speaker 1: us about that episode. Man, let everybody know why they
- 16:53Speaker 1: should be watching Survivors Remorse. That premiers this Sunday, August
- 16:57Speaker 1: twenty on stars and yet it also stars my girl
- 16:59Speaker 1: to Sheena, who will be on the show later on today. Um,
- 17:04Speaker 1: you know, listen, Survirus re Morris is one of those
- 17:07Speaker 1: shows that it's unlike anything on television right now in
- 17:10Speaker 1: my opinion, and um, you know, it's we've been fortunate
- 17:14Speaker 1: enough to to grow and it's kind of been a
- 17:17Speaker 1: slow boy. When you look at the numbers, man, they've really, Man,
- 17:19Speaker 1: we've really really really been blessed to have the numbers
- 17:22Speaker 1: just they all I think they they they almost you know,
- 17:26Speaker 1: doubled by over from I think second to thirsty. So
- 17:30Speaker 1: we're continually growing. People are finding out about the show,
- 17:34Speaker 1: people like you, you know, talking us up having the show.
- 17:37Speaker 1: It raises awareness of the show. I think the episode
- 17:40Speaker 1: that you're you're speaking to was the season finale last year,
- 17:44Speaker 1: and in all honesty, uh, they had given me some
- 17:47Speaker 1: indication early on of of that particular scene, but it
- 17:52Speaker 1: was a couple of years ago, and so as an actor,
- 17:55Speaker 1: you kind of you know you're taking you all right, Well,
- 17:57Speaker 1: if it happens, it happens, if it doesn't. So when
- 18:00Speaker 1: it didn't happen, I kind of got away from it
- 18:02Speaker 1: and uh and and never thought about it. And then
- 18:04Speaker 1: two weeks before we shot, maybe a week before we
- 18:06Speaker 1: were scheduled to shoot the Zeger Bruster put me aside
- 18:09Speaker 1: and say, hey man, we're putting this scene back in.
- 18:12Speaker 1: I was like, WHOA. So uh. You know, as a
- 18:15Speaker 1: lot of people don't know when you get into the
- 18:18Speaker 1: because the weekly grind of making a television show, you know,
- 18:21Speaker 1: it's every week it's a new episode, and so it
- 18:23Speaker 1: becomes difficult to prepare because you're you know, you you're
- 18:27Speaker 1: shooting one episode. You gotta be thinking about the next episode,
- 18:30Speaker 1: but you can't afford to not think about the current episode.
- 18:33Speaker 1: So it was a lot. It was, It was a lot.
- 18:35Speaker 1: It was. It was quite the challenge. Uh and uh,
- 18:39Speaker 1: you know, the one thing I did do was I
- 18:41Speaker 1: was very much uh in the noah as to how
- 18:45Speaker 1: they wanted to shoot it. And so there were a
- 18:47Speaker 1: couple of things that I just asked for that I
- 18:49Speaker 1: felt would help me and just kind of in shooting it,
- 18:53Speaker 1: and that we didn't We didn't do a whole lot
- 18:54Speaker 1: of coverage. We just simply kind of we got in
- 18:57Speaker 1: there and um, we kind of broke it down. And
- 19:00Speaker 1: I did it one time all the way through with
- 19:02Speaker 1: this back, and we kind of broke it down. They
- 19:05Speaker 1: gave me a couple of points and I told him,
- 19:07Speaker 1: I said, looking for some reason, it's not feeling cohesive
- 19:09Speaker 1: to break it down. We'll just go straight through it.
- 19:12Speaker 1: You know, it worked out that way, Um, I think
- 19:14Speaker 1: to go there. People always asked me, I mean, listen,
- 19:17Speaker 1: when that episode aired. My d m s, whether it's
- 19:20Speaker 1: Facebook and grand Twitter, were just literate with people that
- 19:23Speaker 1: had similar, you know, similar experience. And I was really
- 19:27Speaker 1: surprised by the women that were raising children that that
- 19:30Speaker 1: we're having similar experiences. So I was getting it not
- 19:33Speaker 1: only from young men, older men that could relate to it.
- 19:35Speaker 1: I was also getting it from women that were ultimately
- 19:37Speaker 1: affected by the assets of fathers in their in their
- 19:40Speaker 1: son's lives. And so for me, growing up in a
- 19:43Speaker 1: two pairent household with a father that I absolutely adore.
- 19:46Speaker 1: It was very, very difficult, and so for the first
- 19:49Speaker 1: time I think I actually work with a work with
- 19:53Speaker 1: an acting coach and uh, and we broke it down
- 19:56Speaker 1: over the course of MAB. Yeah, what it was was
- 20:00Speaker 1: and more importantly, how I could get there and stay
- 20:02Speaker 1: there and um and and and be present throughout that
- 20:06Speaker 1: because again, people see what ultimately equation to eight and
- 20:09Speaker 1: I maybe ten minutes of on screen, but it's probably
- 20:12Speaker 1: boils down to about four and a half hours of
- 20:14Speaker 1: actually feeling. That's a long time, you know, to to
- 20:17Speaker 1: have to sustain. Uh, and so you have to be
- 20:19Speaker 1: aware of it. So that day, Uh, you know, I
- 20:22Speaker 1: just really tried to stay to myself, um, but not
- 20:26Speaker 1: too much. You know, I didn't want to just be isolated.
- 20:28Speaker 1: But but yeah, you know, I'm how to prayer a
- 20:32Speaker 1: lot of just kind of letting go and just kind
- 20:35Speaker 1: of yielding to what this experience was. You know, Now,
- 20:38Speaker 1: I am a father, and a lot of what I
- 20:40Speaker 1: was able to draw upon it. I'm a father, I
- 20:41Speaker 1: got two boys, and so what I was able to
- 20:44Speaker 1: really do is kind of substitute. You know, what if
- 20:48Speaker 1: I wasn't my boy's father, what if my what what
- 20:50Speaker 1: if my children's father was like the guy that I'm
- 20:54Speaker 1: sitting across this table looking from and and and and
- 20:56Speaker 1: you know, digging into and so once we you know,
- 21:00Speaker 1: we had to go through a couple of things to
- 21:01Speaker 1: figure out what would kind of ignite that thing in
- 21:04Speaker 1: me and and we found out it would be trying
- 21:07Speaker 1: to imagine my children being raised by an abusive father.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Uh and and not being there, not being present and
- 21:13Speaker 1: uh And as soon as we kind of hit that, uh,
- 21:16Speaker 1: you know a lot of times, I think when it
- 21:18Speaker 1: comes down and the kids, you know, we always think
- 21:21Speaker 1: of women being you know, the mothers being very protective
- 21:25Speaker 1: emotionally and physically of their child, but actually fathers carry
- 21:29Speaker 1: that same trade. And we we you know, we want
- 21:31Speaker 1: to protect our children, we want to you know, love
- 21:34Speaker 1: our children. And so in the absence of being able
- 21:36Speaker 1: to do that or imagine my kid's life, you know,
- 21:39Speaker 1: without that type of protection, and then you add on abuse,
- 21:42Speaker 1: and you add on all the other things that Reggie
- 21:44Speaker 1: talked about in that scene, it became very easy to
- 21:47Speaker 1: go there. Yeah, it was two things that really stood
- 21:50Speaker 1: out for being a scene. We're talking about a scene
- 21:52Speaker 1: in the series Survivor's Remorse where Reggie meets his father,
- 21:57Speaker 1: uh and his father and it's not a very uh
- 22:00Speaker 1: happy meeting because his father is trying to trying to
- 22:04Speaker 1: get back in good graces without Hey, hey, I'll recover.
- 22:07Speaker 1: I'm not trying to reveal any of this scene to anybody,
- 22:10Speaker 1: but just give you the nuances of what this scene
- 22:12Speaker 1: is all about. But there were two things in this
- 22:14Speaker 1: scene in this scene that made it a brilliant scene
- 22:16Speaker 1: to me. One was when the waitress kept coming into
- 22:19Speaker 1: the scene and you said not right now, which is
- 22:22Speaker 1: a classic scene that I've had when I'm doing business
- 22:25Speaker 1: in the restaurant, and I went, wow, man, that was brilliant.
- 22:28Speaker 1: They have this waitress come in here and you didn't
- 22:31Speaker 1: break try anywhere. Right now, be with you in a minute,
- 22:34Speaker 1: not right there, be with you in a minute. Twice
- 22:36Speaker 1: she came in. And the other great moment in that
- 22:38Speaker 1: scene which when you was patting your dad on his back, dude, dude,
- 22:45Speaker 1: because the path they kind of kind of got a
- 22:47Speaker 1: little heavy and then you pulled up. So so I
- 22:51Speaker 1: like to know when that scene and then what did
- 22:52Speaker 1: he say about those paths on this back? Uh? You know,
- 22:56Speaker 1: Marlon Young is a great actor. I've been a fan
- 22:58Speaker 1: of his work for years, and he's very much one
- 23:01Speaker 1: of those actors. He didn't want me to to pull
- 23:04Speaker 1: pull pull back, man. He needed to feel it. You know,
- 23:07Speaker 1: he's one of those actors, and he was certainly there
- 23:09Speaker 1: for me emotionally made himself available. But no, you know,
- 23:13Speaker 1: it was it was weird even writing to the set,
- 23:16Speaker 1: you know, and I have very little interaction. Uh you know,
- 23:19Speaker 1: we kind of wanted this thing to feel like a
- 23:21Speaker 1: father and son that hadn't seen each other and you know,
- 23:24Speaker 1: twenty many years, eighteen twenty years. But you know, afterwards
- 23:29Speaker 1: it was just um, you know, it was it was
- 23:32Speaker 1: just one of those things, man, where two performers get
- 23:35Speaker 1: together and they connect and that it just becomes about
- 23:39Speaker 1: the material. But yeah, no, the pat team wanted him
- 23:41Speaker 1: is hard, you know, he hard. I could add him.
- 23:43Speaker 1: That's what he wanted, and that's what I gave a brother.
- 23:46Speaker 1: That scene was phenomenal. But I was just gonna tell you, man,
- 23:49Speaker 1: the characters that they developed on this show, the Jupiter
- 23:52Speaker 1: character who was the football player, the character who was
- 23:57Speaker 1: Advantagers slash pim Flash, I don't know what they were, Uh,
- 24:01Speaker 1: tell us about the upcoming season, man, because I'm seeing
- 24:03Speaker 1: the promos and you're getting in the fight here, look
- 24:06Speaker 1: like you're going back into the streets a little bit.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Tell us about the upcoming season here, f Rico. Uh, well,
- 24:12Speaker 1: you know, listen, we got we got ten episodes to
- 24:15Speaker 1: cover a lot, a lot of a lot of territory.
- 24:18Speaker 1: So I think we do just that the show, if
- 24:19Speaker 1: you look back on the first season to show us
- 24:21Speaker 1: continued to evolve. Thankfully, our audiences continue to embrace us.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Hopefully that will continue, because that's the best way to
- 24:28Speaker 1: ensure we get subsequent seasons five, six, Hey, who knows,
- 24:31Speaker 1: seven and eight. But but I think this season will
- 24:34Speaker 1: continue to continue to see uh, you see less of
- 24:38Speaker 1: the family dynamic. And I just say that. When I
- 24:40Speaker 1: say that, I mean you don't see as much of
- 24:42Speaker 1: the family together as everybody kind of in their own worlds,
- 24:46Speaker 1: dealing with their own issues and just trying to kind
- 24:49Speaker 1: of hell finding exactly perfect perfect find themselves. You know.
- 24:54Speaker 1: For Reggie, uh, you know, the situation with his father
- 24:57Speaker 1: is something that we don't dwell on that much this season.
- 25:00Speaker 1: But what we really see with him is she's trying
- 25:02Speaker 1: to continue to grow that legacy and and and so
- 25:04Speaker 1: not Actually, what he's really trying to do this year
- 25:06Speaker 1: is focus more so on the Vans he and Missy's legacy,
- 25:11Speaker 1: uh and and the and the The thing that happens
- 25:14Speaker 1: this season is, you know, what he kind of envisions
- 25:17Speaker 1: for his future kind of bumped heads with what Cam
- 25:20Speaker 1: sees and the very interesting dynamic between the two of them.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Uh to Sheina Arnold's character. Uh, Cassie goes on a
- 25:29Speaker 1: spiritual journey. Uh. You know, Cam continues his film, uh,
- 25:33Speaker 1: you know, continues his work through his foundation. He's still
- 25:36Speaker 1: growing and watched him actually take a very prominent role
- 25:41Speaker 1: uh kind of in what serves as our players union
- 25:43Speaker 1: on the show. Um M. Chuck continues to dig deep
- 25:47Speaker 1: into her past and feel uh and Missy does the
- 25:50Speaker 1: Missy still on that same trajectory of really trying to
- 25:53Speaker 1: make sure that when Cam's career ends, uh, Reggie's career
- 25:58Speaker 1: doesn't end. And so you know, collectively, everybody's just kind
- 26:01Speaker 1: of on their own separate journey. Um. And it's you know,
- 26:04Speaker 1: it's been a it's been a testament to the writers
- 26:07Speaker 1: to kind of take a show and kind of deviate
- 26:09Speaker 1: from its initial inception. I think when it was first sold.
- 26:12Speaker 1: It was sold as a thirty minute sick cop and
- 26:15Speaker 1: it's become it's become much more than that. And it
- 26:20Speaker 1: really is, it really is. And sadly, you know, there
- 26:22Speaker 1: are so few of those that they already categories for
- 26:25Speaker 1: dramed ease. I think if there were, you know, Survivor's
- 26:28Speaker 1: Remorse would would get even more critical acclaim than what
- 26:30Speaker 1: it currently does. But right now we're a show that
- 26:33Speaker 1: I think, UH will spawn other shows in the future.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Uh to say that just because your thirty minute comedy
- 26:40Speaker 1: doesn't mean you can't really delve deep into you know,
- 26:43Speaker 1: some real emotional storylines that that will make people cry.
- 26:47Speaker 1: But then on, like you said, a scene later will
- 26:49Speaker 1: have you cracking up, lasting like my wife crying, you know,
- 26:52Speaker 1: but just for a good reason, because the characters are relatable. Rico, man,
- 26:57Speaker 1: I thank you for calling in on my show. And
- 27:00Speaker 1: it's about It's about careers, man, it's about the journey,
- 27:03Speaker 1: and I try to slow it down for individuals like
- 27:06Speaker 1: you so we can hear your story and we can
- 27:08Speaker 1: hear the you know, the the journey and men, you're
- 27:11Speaker 1: on a great ride right now. Run Rico. I'm a
- 27:14Speaker 1: I'm a post on Sunday. Uh a banner telling everybody
- 27:19Speaker 1: to watch the show August twenty and that's a very
- 27:21Speaker 1: competitive Sunday we all know, and a man call out
- 27:25Speaker 1: some time y'all DVR. You know if you have not
- 27:28Speaker 1: seen the show, go to on demand binge watched. This
- 27:32Speaker 1: is one of the great great shows. And I'm gonna
- 27:35Speaker 1: tell you something when you start ranking you know, black show,
- 27:38Speaker 1: African American shows in history. This is a top ten show.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Oh brother, from you ro Rico Lee. I got to
- 27:46Speaker 1: see the Arnold coming up later. My whole show is
- 27:49Speaker 1: about survivors, Ramon's baby. If they don't know, they're gonna
- 27:52Speaker 1: know abouty the Rashan McDonald's world. Thank you for calling man,
- 27:55Speaker 1: money may come. He's a proud father to ricos. Come
- 28:05Speaker 1: on now, it's time you're hungry. If this is a
- 28:08Speaker 1: segment you want to listen to, I'm calling all coups
- 28:12Speaker 1: and beaton who want to be on TV and sell
- 28:15Speaker 1: your problems. My next guest has been called the young
- 28:18Speaker 1: Bary White of food. A two time Food Network Cut
- 28:22Speaker 1: Girls Kitchen winner and semifinalists in the World Food Championship.
- 28:26Speaker 1: He specialized in French and Asian cuisine. With accasun flair.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Please welcome to Money Making Conversation. Chaff jarnad. Well, come on, chef,
- 28:39Speaker 1: talk to me now. We got your on Skype. Can't
- 28:43Speaker 1: hear him? Hey here, come on that. I cannot hear words?
- 28:48Speaker 1: Can I hear words? He's saying, you got your phone
- 28:52Speaker 1: on me? Man, got your phone on mute. Somebody running
- 28:57Speaker 1: in behind them going hey man, you got your file.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Dude with the head called out here. Can you here? Man?
- 29:03Speaker 1: Can you talk now? Can you talk now? I can
- 29:08Speaker 1: hear you now, Man, I've been seeing you by forty
- 29:11Speaker 1: five second the bar white of food. No, well ship,
- 29:17Speaker 1: how you doing my brother? Man? I am doing good.
- 29:21Speaker 1: First of all. First of all, a great start on Monday.
- 29:23Speaker 1: And no, no, don't worry about it because guesse what
- 29:25Speaker 1: you're on my show money Making Conversation, and this is
- 29:28Speaker 1: not will not be the last time you will be
- 29:30Speaker 1: on my show. It's about a relationship. And you got
- 29:33Speaker 1: good people around you that make sure you got in
- 29:36Speaker 1: front of me. I always tell people the kids to
- 29:38Speaker 1: success is to get in front of people who you
- 29:41Speaker 1: want to be seen by. So people felt that I
- 29:44Speaker 1: needed to have your brand in front of me, and
- 29:46Speaker 1: they and they would. They were weaving like a call
- 29:48Speaker 1: you know you changed, they would changed any right from it.
- 29:51Speaker 1: Finally realized I took down that licening place, which was
- 29:53Speaker 1: they phoned Umber and I contacted him. Now you're on
- 29:56Speaker 1: my show, Hill. It happens that fast. And I've been
- 30:02Speaker 1: seeing you. Hey, you've been making a lot of moves
- 30:05Speaker 1: man for a lot of years and just seeing what
- 30:08Speaker 1: you're doing in the food industry on that bak and
- 30:10Speaker 1: it's on a it's on a whole level, man. And hey,
- 30:14Speaker 1: as a chef, I got I got to tip my
- 30:16Speaker 1: hat off to you because you're doing what you need
- 30:18Speaker 1: to do to make me hungry. There you go and
- 30:20Speaker 1: the kids chef is this and I'm calling you chef
- 30:23Speaker 1: chef well, chef j Dub. The thing is is that
- 30:27Speaker 1: you are a brand. And I try to bring people
- 30:29Speaker 1: on the show because people want to know how to
- 30:31Speaker 1: get products on the shelf. People want to know how
- 30:33Speaker 1: to get on TV. And one of the things that
- 30:35Speaker 1: you show right away personality. Just because you can cook
- 30:39Speaker 1: a bake, people still want to have a personality. You
- 30:42Speaker 1: gotta have to the all of all of it you do,
- 30:45Speaker 1: and that's what a lot of people don't realize, even
- 30:48Speaker 1: when it comes to to restaurant to everything you can
- 30:51Speaker 1: get in the kitchen and you can burn all day,
- 30:53Speaker 1: but if you're trying to transition into something else, you
- 30:56Speaker 1: have to be able to take your personality to that level.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Just because I give you a great meal doesn't mean
- 31:02Speaker 1: that my my appearance, what I say, what I'm doing,
- 31:06Speaker 1: contranscend over into your home. And that's what I wanted
- 31:10Speaker 1: to start doing years ago. Was from owning restaurants, I
- 31:15Speaker 1: saw the bigger picture as far as I didn't want
- 31:18Speaker 1: to just wait for consumers to come to my restaurant
- 31:20Speaker 1: and eat. I wanted to be in their kids and
- 31:22Speaker 1: cabins when they open their doors. I wanted to be
- 31:25Speaker 1: on their bookshelves, on their on their coffee tables. So
- 31:29Speaker 1: what I did was I worked on building up what
- 31:32Speaker 1: I would call my culinary point of view and and
- 31:36Speaker 1: my colory point of view. Really at the end of
- 31:37Speaker 1: the days before fake family's food and fun, and what
- 31:41Speaker 1: I do is I transcend, and I make it relatable
- 31:44Speaker 1: to everybody where, everybody in someone's household. Regardless of who
- 31:48Speaker 1: you are, you gotta chef ginnardio homes and when I say,
- 31:52Speaker 1: you gotta chef you that makes me more relatable and
- 31:55Speaker 1: makes makes you more open to bringing me into your home.
- 31:58Speaker 1: And so what I did was the first thing I
- 32:00Speaker 1: did many years ago, was roach started writing my first
- 32:04Speaker 1: cookbooks and those originally got me in the doors. And
- 32:08Speaker 1: then from there it would lead on into me creating
- 32:11Speaker 1: my manufacturing company. Because when I said that I wanted
- 32:15Speaker 1: to be on I wanted when somebody opened their cabinet door,
- 32:18Speaker 1: the first thing they saw was one of my products
- 32:21Speaker 1: and the refrigerated And guess what I stayed on their
- 32:23Speaker 1: mind then? And so tell us about your products. Okay, um,
- 32:29Speaker 1: I have, man, I have so many lives of different
- 32:31Speaker 1: products of but but it's been a long journey. My
- 32:34Speaker 1: first thing is le shepal Mars Hope within. Currently our
- 32:37Speaker 1: products are and six over six hundred stores across the
- 32:40Speaker 1: United States. We specialized in making going the hot sauces,
- 32:44Speaker 1: barbecue sauces, hot sauces, all natural spices and season But
- 32:49Speaker 1: what I did was when I created those, I wanted
- 32:52Speaker 1: to create a line where you could take my products
- 32:55Speaker 1: straight from the bottom and pour it on anything or
- 32:58Speaker 1: marinating anything, and you didn't have to do anything else.
- 33:01Speaker 1: And everyone wants to wants to quit six as well
- 33:05Speaker 1: as we're operating down the millennial world. And that's how
- 33:09Speaker 1: custom built the line. And I started to I started
- 33:12Speaker 1: it over nine years ago, and people wonder how I
- 33:16Speaker 1: got in stories and how I got in that many stories,
- 33:19Speaker 1: and it wasn't an easy task, but it was. Well
- 33:22Speaker 1: when did you start? You said, yeah, I used I
- 33:27Speaker 1: lunched the manufacttion coming nine years right there. Don't don't
- 33:32Speaker 1: don't run past that nine years because people want to
- 33:34Speaker 1: it to happen instantly. What I'm saying, so you built
- 33:37Speaker 1: your brain to be at this number of stores, to
- 33:40Speaker 1: be able to make an appearance of Williams Sonoma. Okay,
- 33:43Speaker 1: you know these are these are top store lines. And
- 33:46Speaker 1: so it's because you said nine years and you blew
- 33:49Speaker 1: it off because you've said it so much. It's part
- 33:51Speaker 1: of your conversation. But people need to understand that a
- 33:55Speaker 1: journey to success is never overnight. That's a lot of okay,
- 33:59Speaker 1: and the lot it's no guarantee there. You're trying to
- 34:02Speaker 1: build fast, absolutely, and so tell us about your career
- 34:06Speaker 1: that nine years man, because there's a lot of doubts
- 34:08Speaker 1: in there. There's a lot of people said, hey, man,
- 34:11Speaker 1: chef of love. What that means, Who's gonna Who's gonna
- 34:14Speaker 1: believe that the chef of oh Man, You know, it's
- 34:19Speaker 1: funny you say that. I had so many people to
- 34:22Speaker 1: tell me that I needed to get rid of that
- 34:24Speaker 1: because I coined the name the Chef of Love. Over
- 34:27Speaker 1: eighteen years ago I wrote my and then later on
- 34:31Speaker 1: ten years later after that, I wrote my first cook
- 34:35Speaker 1: with But see, I started out cooking at the age
- 34:37Speaker 1: of sixteen. As a matter of fact, that's when I
- 34:40Speaker 1: opened my first restaurant up. Oh my first restaurant up
- 34:43Speaker 1: at sixteen, which later lay it on to having nine
- 34:46Speaker 1: restaurants over my my career span as of right now.
- 34:51Speaker 1: But from there, what I did was I stood on
- 34:55Speaker 1: what I believe and there was several core values, as
- 34:57Speaker 1: I said, my four else and I never changed that
- 35:00Speaker 1: and the same is still true. And a lot of
- 35:03Speaker 1: people saying a street saying, But the saying is get walt,
- 35:06Speaker 1: hustle and stick to it and then'll pay off. I
- 35:11Speaker 1: see why you've been on TV. I see why you
- 35:14Speaker 1: want because guess what, you have a conversation to match
- 35:17Speaker 1: your personality, plus you have a matching drive and you
- 35:20Speaker 1: have a plan to win. And then when people question you,
- 35:24Speaker 1: you look past them and that's you know, people used
- 35:27Speaker 1: to terminology you haters and then you look, you look
- 35:31Speaker 1: beyond the haters. And I know because all my life,
- 35:34Speaker 1: you know, you go when you when you live the
- 35:35Speaker 1: life and me you know their terminologies like that that
- 35:38Speaker 1: that come and go. But in the end, I feel
- 35:41Speaker 1: fortunate to have you on the show because I get
- 35:43Speaker 1: back and let you do what I want people to hear.
- 35:46Speaker 1: Motivate people, tell people they can win, and let people
- 35:49Speaker 1: know that if anybody tells you you cannot be successful,
- 35:53Speaker 1: walk away, absolutely absolutely, and you should never let people
- 35:58Speaker 1: put you in a box. And when I always tell
- 36:01Speaker 1: people when they're using the terminal to think outside the box.
- 36:04Speaker 1: Let's say, for you're thinking outside the boy, just get
- 36:06Speaker 1: out the box. Because the thing is, as long as
- 36:08Speaker 1: you're thinking outside of the box, guess what, you're still
- 36:10Speaker 1: on the inside of the box, just thinking outwards. So
- 36:13Speaker 1: the kids is eliminate the barriers, step outside of the box,
- 36:17Speaker 1: do something beyond your comfort zone. Because what I learned
- 36:21Speaker 1: over this journey is people tend to want to box
- 36:24Speaker 1: you in on what their fears are if they haven't
- 36:27Speaker 1: achieved that. I can't do it. They want to instantly
- 36:29Speaker 1: tell you that you can't do it because they're only
- 36:33Speaker 1: rating you against what their success is. And I learned
- 36:36Speaker 1: that when when I started out, when I launched my
- 36:39Speaker 1: manufacturing company up. You know what I did. I went
- 36:42Speaker 1: from store to store personally doing my own pitches to
- 36:46Speaker 1: get it in there, and and and and and and
- 36:49Speaker 1: to be honest, I came up with a creative idea.
- 36:53Speaker 1: I learned back then that if you were going to
- 36:55Speaker 1: a store and you asked for a product, it was
- 36:58Speaker 1: that stoes for do very interest to bring that product
- 37:02Speaker 1: in there. So guess what I did. I took off
- 37:05Speaker 1: the hat at Chef Guinard and became the business man.
- 37:08Speaker 1: So I would walk into a store one of my
- 37:10Speaker 1: bottles of sauce. You know what I would You know
- 37:13Speaker 1: what I would tell them. I would say, Hey, um,
- 37:17Speaker 1: this is a realist sauce, and I get it down
- 37:19Speaker 1: the street at the Localst. Farmer's Market, but only go
- 37:22Speaker 1: there on Sunday. I shopped at your store almost every
- 37:25Speaker 1: other day. Would you'll be interested in carrying this sauce
- 37:28Speaker 1: so that I can buy from you? I never told
- 37:31Speaker 1: him that I was the one who owned it, you know,
- 37:33Speaker 1: And they okay, give me the giveing the UPC code,
- 37:36Speaker 1: the company name. I give the UPC code and the
- 37:39Speaker 1: company name, and guess what they call in the place
- 37:41Speaker 1: that order. You know what I would do after they
- 37:43Speaker 1: called me and say, hey, we got the audience that
- 37:46Speaker 1: you wanted, I would go in the store and I
- 37:49Speaker 1: would buy five bottles of them, because after I've had
- 37:52Speaker 1: an order caation, then I would send other people and
- 37:54Speaker 1: go in and purchase their falls off the self. But
- 37:57Speaker 1: they buy the mup guests. What I do? I go
- 37:59Speaker 1: back and say, hey, I'm all out. But which is
- 38:09Speaker 1: doing how you have to do it? But people understand
- 38:12Speaker 1: he has a he has a code. It's not calling
- 38:15Speaker 1: Pooky house and then your mama driving up there with
- 38:18Speaker 1: a box. Now this is a professional level, so you
- 38:21Speaker 1: can have to have things in place in order to
- 38:23Speaker 1: make that particular call that he made. In other words,
- 38:26Speaker 1: he playing for success and then he figured out a
- 38:28Speaker 1: way to be able to take advantage of the options
- 38:31Speaker 1: that were available to him. And that's really what this
- 38:33Speaker 1: is all about. This is all about chelf. You know
- 38:36Speaker 1: the things about it, your success and they're telling me
- 38:39Speaker 1: I'm running out of time that which is crazy because
- 38:41Speaker 1: this interview feels like it's five minutes, but that means
- 38:43Speaker 1: I gotta I gotta bring you back next month, because
- 38:46Speaker 1: when I bring you back next month, next month, it's
- 38:49Speaker 1: all about the success plan. First of all, man, you
- 38:52Speaker 1: are a two break guest. You're not a one break guest.
- 38:55Speaker 1: I see that now. Secondly, Man, you have a story
- 38:59Speaker 1: to be told. I'm working on some projects in the
- 39:02Speaker 1: future hopefully I can bring you in. I got some
- 39:04Speaker 1: people who are actually watching this stream right now because
- 39:07Speaker 1: I told him I had Chef Jnard Wells on here
- 39:10Speaker 1: and I think he's won that you should include in
- 39:12Speaker 1: your project in Atlanta, Georgia. And so you're beginning an
- 39:16Speaker 1: email from somebody to go. Rashan McDonald did not lie exactly. Hey,
- 39:21Speaker 1: I already know it, man, And the thing is, you
- 39:24Speaker 1: know people, I just want everybody knows this has been
- 39:27Speaker 1: a journey and that's still a journey. So they know
- 39:28Speaker 1: they can follow me on Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, the whole
- 39:32Speaker 1: nine at Chef Jnard or my website chef Jonard dot com.
- 39:36Speaker 1: And Rasha it has truly been an honor just to
- 39:39Speaker 1: spend these moments with you, and you allow your gift
- 39:43Speaker 1: ears over to me to share what I've having. We
- 39:46Speaker 1: hadn't even scratched the surface where the chef of love
- 39:50Speaker 1: is going. Every Right, we ain't talking about the bear
- 39:52Speaker 1: white pak when you're talking about the bear white pauk.
- 39:54Speaker 1: So next morning, I'm gonna tell my booker, Samantha Taylor,
- 39:57Speaker 1: she gonna contact your people and we're gonna bring you
- 39:59Speaker 1: back next month. Okay, I appreciate you, My brother, ladies
- 40:03Speaker 1: and gentlemen. He's been on my show for the fair
- 40:05Speaker 1: first time. He gotta come back because he's got a
- 40:07Speaker 1: lot to say. Chief Gnard Wells, the Baron White and Lottle,
- 40:12Speaker 1: the Baron Whiton. Cooking coming up next. If you have
- 40:15Speaker 1: if you want to know about LinkedIn, LinkedIn is the
- 40:17Speaker 1: new business communicator. I have a LinkedIn expert. Don't you
- 40:21Speaker 1: go nowhere this money making conversation. I'm telling you how
- 40:24Speaker 1: to connect your dollars and brand you to the next
- 40:27Speaker 1: level of success, a LinkedIn experts. You're coming on the show,
- 40:30Speaker 1: Robert why By young Blood money making conversation. I use LinkedIn,
- 40:40Speaker 1: I use Facebook, I used Instagram, I used Twitter. But
- 40:45Speaker 1: from my business and my branding in particular, I use LinkedIn.
- 40:50Speaker 1: My next guest over the years, has trained numerous individuals
- 40:55Speaker 1: to improve their communication, leadership and networking skills by teaching
- 40:59Speaker 1: professionals how to leverage linked In, promote their personal brand,
- 41:03Speaker 1: and attract new clients. Please welcome though money making conversations.
- 41:08Speaker 1: Robert young Blood. How you doing that? Robert? Can you
- 41:14Speaker 1: speak up a little bit? Yes, Sir, Shaan King, Henry,
- 41:17Speaker 1: I can hear you very clear. Now, hey, Robert, I'm
- 41:20Speaker 1: gonna tell you something. I am a fan of LinkedIn.
- 41:25Speaker 1: Now you. I brought you on the show because again,
- 41:31Speaker 1: you know you, you know, you're on the outside and
- 41:33Speaker 1: you just you, you know, you're trying to figure it out.
- 41:36Speaker 1: What are the advantages of LinkedIn? First of all, let
- 41:39Speaker 1: me stop right there. Tell me about your company. Then
- 41:41Speaker 1: we're gonna talk about LinkedIn. Tell me about your car.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Absolutely first and foremost of Sean, I want to say
- 41:46Speaker 1: thank you for allowing me to be on your show.
- 41:48Speaker 1: I'm calling in from Richmond, Virginia, or as my mentor
- 41:51Speaker 1: says rich Man, Virginia, I am a native of Bronx,
- 41:55Speaker 1: New York. I served as the chief connecting officer why
- 42:00Speaker 1: Be Connects, which focuses on teaching individuals how to establish
- 42:04Speaker 1: a solid network through effective communication, leadership and networking skills
- 42:09Speaker 1: that we focus on helping our clients to attract their ideals,
- 42:13Speaker 1: client or employment situation. Uh you know it's it's funny
- 42:18Speaker 1: with Sean. Five years ago tomorrow was the catalyst for
- 42:23Speaker 1: me launching wide Be connect. I was actually laid off
- 42:25Speaker 1: from a nonprofit position and as I was leaving that office,
- 42:29Speaker 1: I prayed to God that he would deposit within me
- 42:32Speaker 1: something that would allow me to live for him while
- 42:35Speaker 1: using the skills and talents that he's given me the
- 42:38Speaker 1: impact people. And that's how rod be Connects got started.
- 42:43Speaker 1: So how did you get engaged with LinkedIn? So? I
- 42:46Speaker 1: started using LinkedIn and the chief in two thousand five.
- 42:49Speaker 1: I was working with a nonprofit organization and I was
- 42:52Speaker 1: responsible for fundraising and friend raising. I mean, I was
- 42:56Speaker 1: looking for volunteers to help us go into schools and
- 42:59Speaker 1: serve as a speaker for speakers girl and so I
- 43:02Speaker 1: use LinkedIn as a way of keeping in contact with
- 43:05Speaker 1: those that I met at various networking and days. Since then,
- 43:08Speaker 1: I've been able to build these relationships over the years
- 43:11Speaker 1: to not only help me and my business, but to
- 43:13Speaker 1: help others in their business. What are the advantage because
- 43:16Speaker 1: I'm gonna just ask you straight questions, you know, and
- 43:18Speaker 1: act like I don't even know the platform. Then I'm
- 43:20Speaker 1: gonna jump in and act like I do know. The
- 43:23Speaker 1: thing I like about is it important when you post
- 43:26Speaker 1: on LinkedIn like you could like to get comments? And
- 43:28Speaker 1: I also give views, you know, because are the views important?
- 43:33Speaker 1: The views are very important, especially if you're a small
- 43:36Speaker 1: business owner. You want to know who is being attracted
- 43:39Speaker 1: to your post or to your to your your your
- 43:43Speaker 1: your process as people are looking for you when they
- 43:46Speaker 1: come to your page, because from there you can establish
- 43:49Speaker 1: the relationships with institutions that will allow you to do
- 43:53Speaker 1: more business. I love looking at the views because for
- 43:56Speaker 1: me and lets me know who is interested in what
- 44:01Speaker 1: I'm posting. And I continue to post those things so
- 44:03Speaker 1: I can kind attract the people that I'm looking to
- 44:05Speaker 1: work with. Yeah, because I've just let everybody know exactly
- 44:08Speaker 1: what I'm talking about on LinkedIn. You know, it gives
- 44:10Speaker 1: you the ability, Well, I what I used to deal like,
- 44:13Speaker 1: I gotta say, I'm on Facebook, I'm on Instagram. I
- 44:16Speaker 1: really don't know who I'm talking to on there. That's
- 44:19Speaker 1: that's the basic feeling that because it could be my grandma,
- 44:22Speaker 1: could be my mama's sister, could be my nephew, could
- 44:25Speaker 1: be just nobody out there, but on LinkedIn, I get
- 44:28Speaker 1: a sense that I'm talking to like minded individuals who
- 44:32Speaker 1: are trying to achieve a professional or business career opportunity.
- 44:36Speaker 1: Am I wrong in saying that that's correct? That's absolutely correct.
- 44:39Speaker 1: You know, most people are using linked In to enhance
- 44:42Speaker 1: their professional brand so that they can not only attract
- 44:46Speaker 1: an employment opportunity, but they can attract their next fine.
- 44:49Speaker 1: And so they put their best foot forward when producing
- 44:53Speaker 1: their profile, which is important because you know, if you
- 44:56Speaker 1: don't have credibility, people won't be business with you. So
- 44:59Speaker 1: most people will put there too self on LinkedIn because
- 45:02Speaker 1: to attract their next opportunity. Yeah, and this is what
- 45:05Speaker 1: excites to me about LinkedIn. Everybody, if you don't have
- 45:07Speaker 1: a LinkedIn account, please start one today. I get no
- 45:11Speaker 1: money for saying that. I'm just telling you the advantages
- 45:13Speaker 1: and the comfort zone that LinkedIn has given me. When
- 45:16Speaker 1: I post a linked In picture or banner, I immediately
- 45:21Speaker 1: get these out of it. It tells me who's watching it,
- 45:23Speaker 1: to tell me what companies that are watching it. It
- 45:26Speaker 1: tells me, uh, the type of people where they sells people, CEOs,
- 45:31Speaker 1: executives that are viewing it. It also would tell me
- 45:34Speaker 1: what cities that I'm viewed the most popular in, like
- 45:38Speaker 1: New York and like my strongest cities are Atlanta, Houston,
- 45:42Speaker 1: and New York and Los Angeles. Those are my four
- 45:44Speaker 1: strongest city. I always get high view ratio and I
- 45:48Speaker 1: think it's tied to me and being an entertainment also
- 45:51Speaker 1: because that's that's where my strong base is in New York,
- 45:54Speaker 1: l A. Houston is where broadcast the show. I'm from
- 45:57Speaker 1: Houston and also live in Atlanta, where the cause of
- 46:00Speaker 1: Steve Harvard Radio network was based in Atlanta. So I
- 46:03Speaker 1: understand that. So when you're trying to monetize this, how
- 46:07Speaker 1: do you How can one monetize opportunities on this particular network.
- 46:13Speaker 1: So so money money is created when you connect the
- 46:17Speaker 1: consumer to a particular productal service. And so the key
- 46:21Speaker 1: is not the producal service, it's the relationship with the consumer. Right.
- 46:25Speaker 1: Once you've identified who your target market is, who your
- 46:28Speaker 1: target audience is, then the next step is to build
- 46:31Speaker 1: the type of relationships that allow you to have no
- 46:34Speaker 1: like in trust. Once you get past the no like
- 46:37Speaker 1: and trust you have the poor you can find out
- 46:39Speaker 1: what the needs and wants of those individuals are, and
- 46:42Speaker 1: then you can proceed to connect them to your prodical service,
- 46:46Speaker 1: thus monetizing your linked in profile. Now, should you be
- 46:51Speaker 1: selective on who you're allowing to your network or just
- 46:53Speaker 1: build numbers? That's a great question of Sean. When I
- 46:56Speaker 1: first got started, I was building numbers because I didn't
- 46:58Speaker 1: know anybother. But now, what I teach my clients is
- 47:02Speaker 1: you want to vet everyone who invites you into their
- 47:05Speaker 1: network and ain't to your network. So if you send
- 47:09Speaker 1: a request, it is important that you attached a personalized
- 47:13Speaker 1: message with your request so that the recipient knows why
- 47:17Speaker 1: you want to connect. And on the opposite side, it's
- 47:19Speaker 1: important to vet each individual who invite you into your
- 47:23Speaker 1: network so that you can at least know who they
- 47:26Speaker 1: are and why they want to connect. This is critical
- 47:29Speaker 1: because the start of a relationship is the most important
- 47:32Speaker 1: part of the relationship, especially when you're dealing with people
- 47:36Speaker 1: you don't know. Awesome, Uh, can you be a regular?
- 47:42Speaker 1: Come on? Why I be? Why I be looking? At man?
- 47:44Speaker 1: I'm out of time, but guess what I got? Five
- 47:47Speaker 1: thousand more questions for you. Definitely, I definitely walk in
- 47:51Speaker 1: the opportunity to come back, and you know your your
- 47:54Speaker 1: followers can follow me all a social media why be
- 47:57Speaker 1: connects is my my my exite why connect dot com
- 48:01Speaker 1: and they can find me from there on all the
- 48:03Speaker 1: other other social media platforms. But definitely be a linked
- 48:06Speaker 1: In and just make sure that they said that they
- 48:09Speaker 1: heard me here so I can tend to them from that.
- 48:11Speaker 1: My man, Thank you LinkedIn expert. He's the LinkedIn expert
- 48:15Speaker 1: for moneymaking conversations. You can follow him on why be

- 51:31Speaker 1: And it's important. But let's go back to the star
- 51:35Speaker 1: power of you, young lady. You got two TV show
- 51:38Speaker 1: to TV shows. Well, God has blessed me to keep working. Lord,
- 51:44Speaker 1: Now here's the deal. Here's the deal, and you do
- 51:46Speaker 1: keep working. Now, people if they are not watching Daytime Divas,
- 51:52Speaker 1: which is uh, it's from the It's from Star Jones
- 51:54Speaker 1: who used to be from the View and she wrote
- 51:57Speaker 1: a book called Satan's Sisters. And I know Star Jones
- 51:59Speaker 1: because shar Jones with the college with me at the
- 52:01Speaker 1: University of Houston. And then and then it's executive to
- 52:06Speaker 1: produced by Susanne the Past, who gave me one of
- 52:10Speaker 1: my first writing jobs on Sister Sister sitcom. Okay, so
- 52:15Speaker 1: so no, we're all in this thing now. Now your
- 52:20Speaker 1: character is a comedian and basically I'm just let everybody
- 52:23Speaker 1: know if you've seen the talk, if you've seen. The
- 52:26Speaker 1: view is that's that's set up, but the story is
- 52:30Speaker 1: off stage. That's the story exactly. It's what happens in
- 52:34Speaker 1: the women's lives outside of the talk show. But you know,
- 52:39Speaker 1: the one thing about those group of women is that
- 52:41Speaker 1: they all will have each other's back, so they met
- 52:45Speaker 1: with each other. They don't want anybody else to mess
- 52:48Speaker 1: with you, so you know, they take care of each other.
- 52:51Speaker 1: But yeah, you know, it's it's um. It's definitely based
- 52:54Speaker 1: off of them Guard Jones book, Satan's Sisters. Now that
- 52:58Speaker 1: the cool thing about is that your care actor went
- 53:00Speaker 1: on a little journey because your character and if I'm
- 53:02Speaker 1: saying that there, roll you could correct me. Your character
- 53:04Speaker 1: was all about you in the beginning. Okay, it was
- 53:08Speaker 1: all about you. You know. It's all about you know,
- 53:10Speaker 1: trying to get that that left chair, you know, left chair,
- 53:13Speaker 1: and all about what it's gonna be about you after.
- 53:17Speaker 1: You know. I watched the show and I'm a fan
- 53:19Speaker 1: because of the fact it's it's a well written show,
- 53:21Speaker 1: and I love the fact that anytime I see a
- 53:23Speaker 1: show with strong African American characters and that show has it.
- 53:29Speaker 1: And also I like Shaun's character that used to executive
- 53:32Speaker 1: on the show. That's a strong diverse character emotionally for me.
- 53:37Speaker 1: And then Vanessa, we come on, you got Vanessa Williams.
- 53:42Speaker 1: I mean, it's a great cast of people and we
- 53:45Speaker 1: really enjoyed I'm doing, you know, playing those roles, you know,
- 53:49Speaker 1: because this is a brand new show, um, and it
- 53:52Speaker 1: was stars vision and I'm happy that, you know, the
- 53:55Speaker 1: share her vision is literally playing out right, you know.
- 53:58Speaker 1: And the and the cool thing about the shows that
- 54:00Speaker 1: they have celebrities on the show. It's like, you know,
- 54:03Speaker 1: like when you ran into uh, Tomarry Maori at the
- 54:08Speaker 1: at the at the at the at the clothing store,
- 54:10Speaker 1: y'all was fighting over that shirt and so and so
- 54:14Speaker 1: she told you ain't got no job on the rail
- 54:16Speaker 1: and got no job on the rail. Now you know,
- 54:17Speaker 1: you better get your butt back on that show. And
- 54:19Speaker 1: so my whole thing is that when you get these roles,
- 54:22Speaker 1: you know, because you're you're a talented singer, you know,
- 54:25Speaker 1: and then and then you're you're funny, you're attractive, and
- 54:28Speaker 1: then you and then you then you're dramatic and all
- 54:32Speaker 1: these things. And so so if you watch the series,
- 54:35Speaker 1: you know, you start out and guess what and you're
- 54:37Speaker 1: a woman's woman. You know you, you know you, you
- 54:39Speaker 1: you let everybody know you still got it going on,
- 54:41Speaker 1: you still find And I think that's import Guess what.
- 54:47Speaker 1: And I think that's important because sexy don't die. Well,
- 54:53Speaker 1: I wouldn't say sexy. You know, I always chose comedy.
- 54:57Speaker 1: Comedy came natural to me. And I really love doing drama.
- 55:01Speaker 1: But you know, you gotta get ugly for comedy. But
- 55:04Speaker 1: I love about it. You know, there ain't no time
- 55:06Speaker 1: to be playing no cute games, right right, right, and
- 55:09Speaker 1: and that's what happens in this series, and so and
- 55:12Speaker 1: so in the last series. In the last episode I
- 55:14Speaker 1: just saw was the episode where this is what I
- 55:16Speaker 1: was talking about, the journey of your character. And I'm
- 55:19Speaker 1: and I'm talking about the show because I'm not trying
- 55:20Speaker 1: to reveal, you know, key plot points in the show.
- 55:24Speaker 1: Because I feel everybody should watch the watch started tonight.
- 55:27Speaker 1: If you have not seen the series from the beginning,
- 55:30Speaker 1: you can being watch it just go on demand and
- 55:33Speaker 1: being watched. The show is well worth it. You will laugh,
- 55:37Speaker 1: you will you. The characters are very relatable. Vanessa Williams
- 55:41Speaker 1: Diva role is fantastic. It has selations She's just an
- 55:47Speaker 1: awesome person. I love the word selations, plot lines. I'm
- 55:49Speaker 1: talking about these characters. They go be y'all, just normal behavior.
- 55:53Speaker 1: But I love the fact that in the end, when
- 55:55Speaker 1: you came back and defended Kippy character, you know, you
- 55:59Speaker 1: saved her character. And that's what I was saying, is
- 56:01Speaker 1: that your character is more than in the beginning, you know,
- 56:06Speaker 1: use about you and I And that's when you stopped
- 56:08Speaker 1: you in the hallway. She said, really, you about somebody
- 56:11Speaker 1: other than you? Tell me about that journey. And when
- 56:14Speaker 1: you take these roles, are you looking to develop your
- 56:17Speaker 1: characters or just be funny and do what they tell you? No, no, no,
- 56:21Speaker 1: never just be funny and do what they tell you.
- 56:23Speaker 1: That is never the key to success nor being happy
- 56:26Speaker 1: at what you do. Um, I have to like I
- 56:30Speaker 1: was asked to do this, to to this role, you know,
- 56:33Speaker 1: and play the part of more, which is always a
- 56:35Speaker 1: pleasure because when you're asked to something, that means they
- 56:38Speaker 1: trust your opinion and what choices you will make. And
- 56:42Speaker 1: with mo, I just it's just the character screamed out
- 56:45Speaker 1: of me. I just laughed and laughed, and I saw
- 56:48Speaker 1: that she had a lot of hearts, but I kind
- 56:50Speaker 1: of love the fact that I was you know that
- 56:53Speaker 1: I would be hated a little bit by a lot
- 56:55Speaker 1: of people, which was cool too, But it's somewhere there's
- 56:59Speaker 1: a reason. And first, you know, there's always a deeper
- 57:02Speaker 1: there's a deeper layer to every character, and the layers
- 57:08Speaker 1: that uh that that MO has really uh intrigued me,
- 57:13Speaker 1: which was one of the reasons why I really really
- 57:15Speaker 1: wanted to play the role. Um. And that's what I'm like.
- 57:18Speaker 1: I mean, everything is in the writing, you know, and
- 57:21Speaker 1: black women we need to be We were so many things,
- 57:24Speaker 1: so we should be represented correctly. And uh, that's always
- 57:29Speaker 1: a fight, you know, it's always you know, you gotta
- 57:31Speaker 1: keep that integrity. But that's me as a mom, me
- 57:34Speaker 1: as a as an actress, me as a survivor of
- 57:38Speaker 1: being a show business so long. You know, people call
- 57:40Speaker 1: me a legend, but you know, I'm a survivor. I've
- 57:43Speaker 1: been able to be in the industry over thirties six years.
- 57:46Speaker 1: I've seen a lot of people come and go. But
- 57:48Speaker 1: I wake up every day loving what I do. God's
- 57:51Speaker 1: bless me to to do what I love doing, and
- 57:54Speaker 1: I respected, so I put it in high regard. So
- 57:56Speaker 1: I'm gonna treat it that way. Well, that's the show
- 57:59Speaker 1: we're talking about right now, because we're gonna talk about
- 58:00Speaker 1: other show, Survivors Remorse, which premierors this Sunday, August twenty
- 58:04Speaker 1: stars we're talking about here currently is her other show
- 58:07Speaker 1: that's on v H one. You can watch it tonight.
- 58:09Speaker 1: It's called Daytime Divas. And one of the things that
- 58:12Speaker 1: I like about the characters, there are strong female characters.
- 58:15Speaker 1: They are diversed. But one of the things that you
- 58:18Speaker 1: said something in your speech is the fact that you
- 58:21Speaker 1: are a mother. You're a single mother, you know, and
- 58:24Speaker 1: that that so what you do on screen plays an
- 58:28Speaker 1: important role to what your daughter sees. Is that correct?
- 58:31Speaker 1: Most definitely I had a you know, when my daughter
- 58:34Speaker 1: was younger, I had a rule. You know, if she
- 58:37Speaker 1: can't watch it, I don't take the role. Now she's older,
- 58:42Speaker 1: you know, she can stomach more a little more because
- 58:46Speaker 1: got a couple of moments in that truck. You know,
- 58:49Speaker 1: even if she was young, I still would have taken
- 58:51Speaker 1: the role of mole because um, it's just the way
- 58:55Speaker 1: they are. They're developing the character. But I always said,
- 58:58Speaker 1: you know, I have to take full responsibility for my
- 59:02Speaker 1: position in life, and that is I am a mother first,
- 59:05Speaker 1: so I have to represent myself correctly as best as
- 59:09Speaker 1: I can. Now, you know, I also have a lot
- 59:12Speaker 1: of young people out there that look up to me
- 59:14Speaker 1: and that are looking up to me like my fellow
- 59:17Speaker 1: you know, actors that look to me. You know, Hey,
- 59:20Speaker 1: you survived as long. How can you help us? So?
- 59:23Speaker 1: How can you? So? I The best way I can't
- 59:24Speaker 1: help anybody else is helping myself. And that's making the
- 59:28Speaker 1: right chart. Try to make the right cho and you
- 59:29Speaker 1: make the right charge over and over again. I try,
- 59:32Speaker 1: I try. I tried so hard. I'm taking something. You know.
- 59:35Speaker 1: When I've asked you to come to the Neighborhood Awards
- 59:37Speaker 1: or the Hoodie Awards, You've come there, you know, And
- 59:39Speaker 1: that's that's giving your time because you knew that made people?
- 59:42Speaker 1: Are your fans feel good that you care about them?
- 59:44Speaker 1: Did you have time for them? Where will we be
- 59:46Speaker 1: without the fans? And as long as they enjoy it,
- 59:49Speaker 1: they keep us working, So why would we not? Now
- 59:53Speaker 1: I was reading something about this. You have something that
- 59:55Speaker 1: you do with your daughter on Instagram is called morning
- 59:57Speaker 1: school playlist. Yeah, school morning for a list. That's what
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: I caught yeah. I started that because my daughter, she
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: is just so talented. She really is. She has a
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: lot of gifts. God gave her the gift of a dance,
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: she gave her the gifts a song, and now she
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: wants to do some more acting. So I said, okay.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: But I was a single mother, so starting out, it
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: was just like, oh my god, we're fighting in the mornings,
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: trying to get dressed with the school. And I said,
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: somebody has got to feel my pain right now. So
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: how do I turn this around? How do I make
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: this a pleasant experience for both she and I? And
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: I said, you know what, maybe let's turn on some music.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: And I started turning on music and she just learned
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: all these songs. She listened to music all the time.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: So I said, you know what, let me start recording
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: it sharing it with people, and I mean, it just
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: got such a great response from people, people like, all,
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: can you please put some more videos up? You know,
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: we love watching your daughter and you in the morning.
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: So I don't mind when people I don't mind sharing
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: our faults or our our personal lives if it's gonna
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: help somebody else. And I saw that me and Eliza,
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: what we were going through in the morning time, helping
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: other mothers get their kids ready, and then just even
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: if you know that somebody else is going through it
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: and you're not, it helps. So I just kind of
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: developed from there, and Elijah enjoyed doing it. It's amazing
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: for laughing because I get this. I'm watching the video
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: because it plays back on my Facebook stream, and I'm
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: getting to see you, guys, Accel in the car, She's
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: dancing in the back seat and you're in the front
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: seat dancing and things like that. So this is on
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: your Instagram at the sena Arnold Morning school playlist correct, Yeah,
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: school morning playlist, morning past. Just I keep saying it
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: wrong because they put it wrong on this piece of paper. Good.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: It's so good. Listen, you're man. You got good memory
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: because you remember a lot of stuff that we got
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: some more to talk about, which is in particular, you know,
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: Survivor's remorse. I left a whole first X section about
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: daytime fevers, because when you're a star, you know, just
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: cramp everything in the one break. Coming up next, we're
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: gonna talk about the dramatic end to the third season.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: We're gonna talk about that car crash when Unc died
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: your brother. We're gonna get the emotional, We're gonna laugh.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: Stay tuned, y'all hanging there. I got the great legendary
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: funny singer single Mob to see the on on the call.
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: We'll be right back with more money making conversation. I'm back.
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: I gotta bring her back up real quick. She's on hold.
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: She hung in with me for one break. Now we're
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: gonna wrap up this next break because premier in this
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: Sunday August is the fourth season of Survivors Remorse, starring
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: she On Stars. Does she know how you're doing? Here's
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: the great thing about this that is that in real life,
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: your single mom on this episode or this series, which
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: is I'm gonna tell you I have run recoiently on
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: earlier and I'm gonna just tell you because I don't don't.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: I want to make sure you hear what I'm saying
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: about how I love this show. This show is from
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: an African American standpoint, is one of the best shows
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: I've seen in my life. I gotta say this because
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: it's a drama d and I say that because very
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: few shows have the ability because we want to know
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: where the classic drama is Mash Mash is one of
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: the all time great classic drama dy series in television history. Well,
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: one minute you're crying, one minute you're taking on the
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: emotional journey, and then the next minute you're laughing and
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: you're finding every character relatable. And that's what the key
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: of this show is all about. And you play a
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: single mall on this show to m Chuck and to
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: Cam and camras the basketball superstar. Who's who think that
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: this family would migrated down from Boston, Dorchester's their community
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: to live in Atlanta, so they're coming down the whole
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: Atlantis new experience. I'm just I'm just I'm just painting
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: the story for him so they won't be lost. You
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: start talking about, I need to take you on the road.
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: I love this show. I love this show. My wife
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: has cried twice on this show. She cried. She cried
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: when Uncle Ju die. You know that car accident. Whoa?
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: And then and then the hospital scene, whoa? I'm telling
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: you and then you know, I'm just letting everybody know.
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: I'm not gonna go in detail because you need to,
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: as they say, start bench watching, watching the series this
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: week so you can be ready for the August premiere
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: on Stars. Yes, tell us about your character Cassie, who
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: now has a relationship with Shin. Yes, And I'm just
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: gonna give you a little backstory. Um Chen is played
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: by Robert Wool, great actor. He came on, we had
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: a scene together, and the scene that we had together
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: just was so he just did so well. And I
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: would say, you know what, I really really want to
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: delve a little. I want my character to um double
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: a little deeper into this relationship because for so long
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: I have not seen on television black women adorned, truly loved.
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: And I said, you know what, I want him to,
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: you know, truly love her and show his love for her.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: And what better way didn't have a billionaire love you?
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: So um you know it's and that's every woman's fantasy
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: to be loved like that. So I said, let's let's
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: do it. And and Michael Mallley, the good thing about
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: him is that he's not the executive producer. But every season,
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: you know, we as actors, we individually sit there and
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: we go in the writer's room ending of each season
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: and we talk about what would we see our characters,
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: talk about our storyline. So your survivors Remorris is you
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: know a lot of our input as well, because you
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: know we we you know when you put a character
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: but for so long, you know, it becomes a part
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: of you. And of course you wanted to see a grow.
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: You want to see no different, you want to experience
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: different things. So that was one of my things with Cassie.
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: But this season, the amazing Isaiah Washington who is coming
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: on and he just comes on and just now he's
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: Cam's father. Correct, Yes, He's Cam's father, Okay, and now
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: and that that's how this last season end where you
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: want to visit him in jail. Correct, Okay? Cool. So
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: so I'm not gonna reveal too much. Yeah, you don't
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: want to take that. So many different this year, You're
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: gonna see so many different plots and story lines. You'll
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: still see us as a family cohesive, but you know
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: we are. Yeah. Well, the key the thing I liked
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: about I like about the series is, first of all,
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: when I was talking to rod Rico is the anger
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: because it's a family. You know, you got money now
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: didn't have money, kind of little hoodish, little hoodie. You know,
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: I got got of the hood. But you but you,
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: but you respect you respect your son. Now you have
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: two children. Uh, let's break down to the listener and
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: to the view about your child. IM Chuck which is
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: short for Mary Charles. And then Cam who's the basketball
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: superstar who was signed to play basketball at the for
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: the A lot of Hawks. Yes, now, UM, they both
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: as we established that UM I was raped, gang raped
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: by um one of them Chucked, Well she you know,
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: she went down that path of finding her father, M Chuck.
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: And then UM Cam's father obviously now is Isaiah Washington.
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: So UM I have two children that are obviously completely different, right,
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: but um who love each other and who um who
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: are basically on my life, you know, as with any
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: other any mother, you know, we make our children our lives.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: And you know, I think Cassie does puts Cam in
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: a position because he is the moneymaker he is, you know,
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: but she's still her son, and I don't think she
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: ever loses sight of that. So she's always going to
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: give him her honest opinion. She's never going to uh
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: steer him wrong. Right now, her opinions that can be
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: a little different sometimes, but it's because she's been through it,
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: you know, because she's she's overcome a lot of different obstacles,
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: so you know, she she has the right as the
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: matriarch of the show as well to um, let's just
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: say speak come on, and she has no Cassy has
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: no problem doing it now is because whatever you do,
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: because this is the drama side of the series, and
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: when you start getting involved with deaf scenes and and
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: still have to be funny. And you know, because one
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: singe has written said and the other things, you have
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: to deliver a funny line to break the ice. As actress,
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: how do you build on that? How did you create
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: that moment um? You go with the moment, you believe
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: the moment. You know, Um, all of us as actors
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: on the show, we all insert a little bit of ourselves.
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: I know that I do try to with every role
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: that I take so that I will be believable. But
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: you insert a little bit of yourself and you try
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: to identify with what's going on in the actual scene.
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: And we have great writers. You better believe you've got
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: great writers. When you have good writers, that is always
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: a great combination. So because of our writers and because
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: of you know, our executive producers, and because there's such
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: a great vision for the show, and we try to
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: play that vision out as best as possible. It makes
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: it a little easier. And you know, like I said,
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: it comes, you know, a lot of it is our
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: own input. Now it's a little easier being harder to
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: play and you know, you know, being a sitcom writer
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: and no one what you have to do. And that's
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: why I just love First of all, I gotta have talent.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: And when you looked at cast, such a talented, talented cast.
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: When the show came out, the big fan fare was
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: it was Lebron James executive produced. That's what that was
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: the hype on that. And I'm just telling everybody who's
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: listening or who's watching on my Facebook page and who
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: will here played back on my Heart Radio podcast that
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: this is a show that is incredibly funny, a cast
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: that is very relatable, and the diversity on this show
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: is amazing. And the thing I like about the show
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: is that when I go to m Chuck, I see
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: an averry young lady, but a beautiful young lady, and
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: she's trying to find herself. She's in a lesbian world.
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: You know, she has a major voice, but she's she
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: doesn't even know who she is. And the season end
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: with her trying to find her father. That's how the season.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: That's that's the season for storyline. Correct. Yeah, so that's
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: one of them, and then and then you have and
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: then the other storyline just setting the tone for storylines,
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: not Cam. I'm assuming you one of his story lines
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: is gonna be his relationship with his father. Correct, two
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: kids pursuing their past with their father. Okay, cool. Then
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: if if if he's going to pursue his relationship with
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: his father, then once his father, Isaiah Washington comes in
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: the world, that means there's gonna be some connectivity with you. Correct, yes, correct,
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: without me telling the storyline, which means there's going to
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: be a problem with the billionaire. Not good, look, you
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: ain't gonna get it out of me. And then you
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: got Reggie and Missy who plays his wife on the show.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: And Reggie is the cousins who's also the manager because
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: Missy is so busy trying to make sure he has
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: a career outside of Cam, and Kim's fighting with that
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: because guess what the reason he's hit is because of Cam. Yep, yep.
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: So you're gonna see that a ship dynamic. It's some
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: great tell you something I would tell you something. I
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: am a faith you are really listen. You are proving
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: yourself to be a true fan. That's for sure. I'm
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: a fan because this is what we want people to do.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: We want you to dissect it. We want you to
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: pay attention to those little things. We want you to
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: have an opinion. We actually do listen to people that
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: follow us on Twitter and they give us their opinion
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: on Facebook. We pay attention to all of that because
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: we want to be able to service everybody. Okay, but
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: before before we get out of here game, let me
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: just tell every if I want to talk about the
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: foundation before, because we hit on it a little bit
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: in the beginning, but I want to give it the
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: time that it deserves. Now. Survivor's Remore, the fourth season,
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: premieres this Sunday, August on Stars. Now. If you've never
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: seen an episode of Survivor's Remorse, I'm talking right now
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: to Sheina Arnold. I have run co le on earlier.
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: A fantastic cast. It's a drama day. Something that's not
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: gonna t you right now. An amazing African American cash
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: with a lot of diversity. That's the great thing about
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: this show. Now you can binge watch. Just go to
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: on the main go to on demand, just bend watched,
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: just just start. Just just get you some water, get
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: you some cheetos and start laughing, you know, pause on
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: the bathroom breaks and go do your thing. You need
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: to be ready for this. You got the bench watched
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: because it's it's great. It's not that long. Episodes go
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: by like that. It's half hour. It's half hour. Now.
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: With that being said, I talked to hear about the
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: Luver's Foundation. Give me some details of why it's important
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: and how we can you know, either donate now or
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: participate in any cause that you have in relationship, in
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: relations in relation to this in the future. Yes, well, well,
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: I I have my sister and I have an organization
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: called We Went Foundation. My sister has seven order immune diseases.
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: The seventh one she was diagnosed with was lupus. She
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: asked me to talk about it. I said, you know,
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: once I opened my big mouth and there's gonna be
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: no stopping. So we started talking about it, and um,
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: you know, we once we once we started talking about it,
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: we found that so many people were suffering from it.
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: Even if you weren't suffer room from it. Somebody knew
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: somebody else from it from and it really affected It's
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: affecting our black and Latino women the worst, and and
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: even men and we So what we've been doing is
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: just talking about it and just teaching everybody to listen
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: to your body, to be afraid to go to the
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: doctor and see. My sister in lie dormant for a
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: long time. So by the time it was her seventh
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: disease that she was diagnosed with, she told the doctor, well,
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: just give me a pill and let me keep it moving.
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: And he's like, no, it's incurable. So that's when we
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: was like, Okay, we gotta really figured this out. So
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: once we started talking about it and we we our
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: our model is is the reason why we say that
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: we win. That's when my my sister says all the time,
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: because you can, despite your obstacles, despite your illness, get
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: through it. So we want to take and take care
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: of people and help them. Now you know, we were
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: looking for cure, but just any sort of relief. If
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: somebody pays your telephone bill, that's one less thing, you know.
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: So we're just we're trying to help people the best
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: way we know how. And uh, and teach awareness and
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: and and let's get it from the beginning. That's let's
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: not wait, even with prostate cancer and all the stuff.
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: We let's pay attention to our bodies and not be
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: afraid to go to the doctor. It's called the we
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: Win Foundation dot org. Is do we Win Foundation dot org.
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: It was started because of our sister, but it benefits everyone. Yes,
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: so let's go to this site today, we Win Foundation
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: dot org. It's about lupus. As soon as I saw
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: that part came to me, I merely listener to uh Tracy,
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: Tracy Logan, and she, uh, you know, she said, thank you.
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: It's about this is what we need. We need people
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: who who put the word out. Yeah, we need people
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: like you. And I appreciate it because you know, a
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: lot of people, when you're not going through it the time,
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: you don't care. You're like, keep it moving. But until
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: it affects you, that's when you're like, oh wait a minute.
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: And that's what happened. You know. Even with me and
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: my sister, I took it. You know, I'm thinking, okay,
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: well she'll be all right, you know, And and and
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: it really dawned on me. I gotta route awake. Then
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: when we were going through the airport and I'm like
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: the name, come on, hurry up, and she said, I
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: can't untie my shoe. So something as simple as tying
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: your shoe, rushing your teeth, Lupa's affects people in so
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: many different ways. So you know, just be you know you,
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: I'm I'm considered as a caregiver, and um, you know
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: we even us caregivers, we gotta learn how to deal
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: with the people that have and others were my friend.
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: I got to hear you your half out. We talked
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: about Daytime Davis. Watch it tonight on vh one Daytime Divis.
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: She's players. She plays the character More Evans. Sunday, August fourth,
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: on Stars, the fourth season of Survivors Remorse released the
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: roll of Cassie. She has an organization just trying to
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: find a cure for LUPUS. We Win Foundation dot org.
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: She's a mother, you know, single parents. She's doing her thing.
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, give some love, continued
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: to support the one and on it to Sheena honor,
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: thank you, my friend. We're coming up next. If you
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: want to get in the private jet. I hadn't been
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: in the private jet. If you're think of private jet,
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: you can afford to get the private jet day something.
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: It ain't that high, It ain't that high. Don't let
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: the image of the jet landing real. Don't let them
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: a little small flame scare you. Don't scare. I fly
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: it once a while. But guess what I'm about to
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: bring a young man on him. That's what you do
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: for a living, and he's African American. Be right back
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: with more money making conversation. Thank y'all. Well, we're having
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: a great show. Oh that's every money. I can't wait them.
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: Oh hell did cool? Welcome back to money making conversations.
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: These planes are called celebrity enrich people are travel private jets?
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: Are they affordable for you? My next tell us, My
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: next guest tells us more about Principle Jets, what exactly
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: his company does, and how you're different from the why
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: they are different from larger competitors. Please work on the
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: money making conversations. The owner of Principal Jets, Charles Robinson,
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: how you do so well doing this, McDonald, thanks so
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: much for having me. Okay man. The first thing that
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: when you hear the word private jet, and I'm gonna
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: just tell you because it's becoming more and more normal
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: to a lot of people and travel. You know, it's
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: people I can't far that, and I'm not trying to
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: say that everybody can afford it. But when people start
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: flying first class, they and if you fly, if you
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: flying first class and a group of y'all going in
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: the same direction, you pretty much can fly first class.
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: You can go private, correct, Absolutely, It depends on where
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: you're going, how many people you have, and what type
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: aircraft you're using. But but by all means you're you're
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: getting pretty close. If you have a group of people
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: flying first class, you can definitely consider flying privately. It's
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: not beyond the realm of expectation, expectations in terms of cost.
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: And I'm gonna just tell you this. I'm gonna talk
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: a little bit private jack conversations. Why why I like
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: it when I do it? First of all, the plane
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: don't lead to you tell it to lead. In fact,
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: you ever late for the plane. Okay, you got that flock,
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: you bought that flock private jet. It's at one o'clock,
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: you get there one thirty, it goes still be waiting
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: on it. Okay, the player will be waiting for you. Absolutely. Second,
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: don't nobody patch you down. Don't know body pat you down,
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: Nobody going your underwear, Ain't nobody kicking off your shoes,
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: Ain't nobody touching your head. All that's cool with private
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: jet travel. And the other thing is that the person
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: is sitting across from me. You know him exactly, you
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: know him. I can't tell you how often I fly.
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: I got somebody'll enter your away from my skin, and
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: I don't say nothing to him for four hours. Right, Absolutely,
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: that's commercial travel. Yeah, that's a really good point about
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: the security and t s A and all of that
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: flying privately. That's one of the benefits of flying privately
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: is that you don't have to go through all that.
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: You save time from that end the hassle. So it's
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: a it's a win win in a in a couple
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: of different areas. So, so tell us a about your background. Okay,
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: I'm from a little small town in Mississippi, ridly in Mississippi.
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: As a matter of fact, I think you're in my
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: hometown not too Longergan absolutely, sir, Absolutely, Hey, baking cakes,
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: baking cakes. Good people graduated from jack the state um
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: and and in my like a year of college, I
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: joined their National Guard, help my parents offsets on the
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: cost of my college experience expenses by getting you know,
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: taking advantage of the g I bill UH. In the
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: Air Guard, I became a crew chief. I was responsible
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: for uh these high performance fighter jets F four fantoms
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: and then F sixteens, which gave me the opportunity to
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: learn a whole lot about high performance airplane and UH
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: and and here I am. This is why I like
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: talking to you, because you have a lot you know,
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: they have ned jets, all these ideas. You know, got
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: a lot of a lot of comple I've flown on
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: a lot of different companies to be very selective on
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: where you get your jet from, because all private jets
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: are not created. Just gonna let you know exactly, okay.
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: And one of the reasons I say that is that,
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: first of all, I'm talking something to someone who has
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: flown before. The average person you talked to, they just
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: sales people. They know nothing about that plane. They never
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: know about hours. And I'm just I'm trying to come
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: what I'm trying to do, Charles, I'm trying to actip
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: to fire two people because people need to understand that.
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: You know, if you if you're gonna upgrade in life,
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: if you're wanna say, I got someone wanna treat my
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: wife special, I want to go somewhere else. You can
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: do this with a private jet because it's it's fun,
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: it's fun, it's the ultimate birthday president is the ultimate
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: wedding gift, all these things. So how would they go
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: about reaching you and getting engaged in the opportunity to
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: get a private what what are the what are the
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: rules and what are the procedures. The easiest way to
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: do that is to go to my website. It's principal
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: Jets dot com and spell p R I N C
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: I P A L J E T S dot com.
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: Go to that website. There's a tab on there that
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: says requests a quote. Real simple, just click on that
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: and it will open a splash page and they'll ask
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: you for some pieces of information. If you just type
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: in that information and press send, it will send us
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: an email and we'll have all your details. So we'll
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: follow up with you, give you all the details you need.
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: We'll discuss you know, what kind of budget you want
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: to stay with and where you're trying to go. How
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: many people are flying with you? Do you have any
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: preferences in terms of your catering? You need ground transportation
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: when you get there or from your place of origin?
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: Do you need security? Well, you need he wants to
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: travel with you to make sure that you know you're stay.
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: Depending upon you know your profession, that might be something
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: that you need, right, But that's a real clean and
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: simple way of doing it. Uh, just go there and
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: we'll take care of it from there. Well, the amazing
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: thing about it this is like you said, catering, and
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: I'm gonna just tell you something, every time you ask
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: for something, a bill comes with it. You know, you
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: can fly. You can on the plane and not have catering.
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: Don't worry about you can fly plane, don't have an
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: ask toward a flight attended. That's the various planes, you know,
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: cost different levels of money. We're not trying to get
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: you on a Beyonce a jay Z plane. Okay, we
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: all know that's kind of like a whole lot of
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: people's price range. We've put on planes that that available
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: short hops, can go from coast to coast, can go
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: to the islands. What are some of the popular destination
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: rentals that you get at least did you get for
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: your planes. One of the things that get more commonly
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: than anything is along the East Coast. You have a
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: lot of people traveling north and south along the East
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: Coast from from uh, say, the Miami area up to
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: New York or or the d C area. So because
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: of that, it's such a busy UH traffic route that
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: we're able to offset some of the cost by you know,
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: just doing true one way UH. A lot of times
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: people don't understand that when you fly privately, if you
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: if your to a jet to go from here from
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: point A to point B, in most cases you're gonna
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: have to pay for that jet to go back to
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: where it came as based at that location. But on
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: the East Coast, as we have so much traffic growing
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: up and down the East Coast, we're typically able to
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: accommodate you on a true one way basis because we
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: know if you fly from Miami up to New York,
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: we know nine times out of tchay and somebody there's
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: someone else waiting for a jet to go back down
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: to Miami. Salute. This kind of offset them both that way.
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: Get a lot of email notices about that they call
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: an open leg exactly, empty leg, empty legs. Here we go,
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: empty leg. So it means that you know, you get
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: a cheaper way. Now, what is something the missnownment that
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: you have to fight to let everybody understand the brand
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: of private jets Charles? Yes, yes, how much flying can
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: you let me do for free? Know? How many hours
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: can you donate to us? Things of that nature. I'm
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: a I'm a I'm a well known person. So can
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: you just put my name on your marketing materials and
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: let us fly based on that? And we're running a
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: business and that's just that's just really really hard to justify. Now.
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: I never used that. I've never used the well known
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: person because I keep telling people you want to make
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: sure the plane you get in goes up and lands,
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: so you pay for the quality that you get. Now exactly,
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: But let me let me clarify one thing. Though you
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: mentioned um the names of some of these larger competitors,
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: I want people to know that although we are a
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: smaller company, were minority owned, were also veteran owned. The
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: planes we fly our manufacturers and the exact same factory
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: that as the ones flown by our larger competitors. Uh,
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: you know so, and they're they're maintained and managed at
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: the same FA standards that are required to conduct charter operations.
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: But we also go beyond that and ensured that they've
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: received additional audits above what the FA requires to ensure
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: an additional level of safety. So even though we're smaller,
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: you know, don't be fooled by the name and the
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: logo of the larger competitor, because you're paying for that.
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: We can offer you a more cost effective option to
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: flying privately. And I tell you me, as the head
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: of this company, UM, I have a really solid background
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: in in aviation safety. I know what to look for
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: in terms of the records on the aircraft made to
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: the history and uh numbers on in terms of aircrew
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: are they truly capable of to fly plane with you
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: in it? So, uh, you know you'll see once you know,
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: if you give us a chance, whoever the prospective client is,
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: you'll be pretty comfortable with the the option we provide.
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: And we always do a follow up as well to
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: find out not if you liked it, but we want
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: to find out what could we have done better? Even still,
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: what's that website? Chaws Principal Jets dot Com, P R I,
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: N C, I, P A, L J E T S
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: dot Com. What I'm gonna do is I'm gonna bring
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: you back on the show in November because I know
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: that's that's when people started flying heavy and that falls
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: that East coast, So we could just put the word
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: out again. I know when your brand in or your
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: marketing is never a one off. You have to keep
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: telling people over and over again and one day they
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: are here and go, oh yeah, Principal Jets dot Com
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: let me call them. So, my brother, I appreciate you
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: coming on the show. I know people probably say I
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: can't afford it. It's not about what you came for.
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: It's about information and Charles, keep doing what you're doing. UM,
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: so I'm gonna use your service one day, Bro, I
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: look forward to hearing from I thank you, Principal Jack
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: on the phone and Scott my man, Charles Robinson. We'll
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: be back own. That's Oprah Winfrey Network, the music Supervisor Angel.
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: Let your love at Own come right back. Money make
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: a conversation. Hi, just re Sean McDonald. I'm back on
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: money making conversations. Let's get right to it. My next
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: guest Oprah Winfrey and for Let's just just stop right there,
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: Oprah Winfrey Network. She supervises the music for the Acclaim
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: Oprah Winfrey Network original Serious Green Leave you know Green Leaf,
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: which stars Keith David Lynn Woodfield and Merril Dandridge. Superstars
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: got an album coming out. She's hear the talk about it.
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: Please welcome the money making conversations Angela, Joe Lovatt, How
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: you on? Angela? Hey? Mr McDonald, how are you who
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: love at? Mr McDonald. I'll getting respect level girl, I'll
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: get respect level. Respect. I like to respect my people.
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: Come on, good, tell tell us about the moon Baby Media.
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: Come on, tell us. I'm getting write in to it
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: with you. Tell us about that well. Moon Baby Media
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: is my new venture I launched seventeen and there is
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: a multimedia company where I create content, branded content, on camera,
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: hosts and music supervisor full time for film and television.
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: And my first client is MS Winfrey. Okay, okay, let's
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: slow that down. Let's slow it down because you said
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: it real fast now and you said a lot of
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: significant things. Now, what exactly is moon You launched it
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: in twenty seventeen, What exactly is moon Baby Media? Well,
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: I spent the last decade of my life at the
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: recording that oud of me, the Grammy, The Grammy. Yeah.
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: So I resigned in June of this year, starting Techni Media.
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: So I was the gatekeeper for gospel music for a decade,
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: given out all the awards to everyone in Gospel Christian
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: CCN side and Gospel side. And also I oversaw a
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: television film so best Compilation, Best Score for Motion Picture Television,
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: Best Song Written for So those two worlds colliding multimedia, television,
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: film VIC and gospel led me to this amazing opportunity
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: on Green Leaf this season. But it all led me
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: right out the door to start my own company, which
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: is moon Baby Media. And and that's what this show
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: is about. I'm glad you came on the show because
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: see that means you you. Let's let me use some
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: words and like the words safe use. Ten years of
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: Grammars Grammar is not going anywhere Grammars. And now he
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: was a senior project manage over there for gospel and
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: television film music at the Grammars. But then you said, hey,
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: I see another vision in my life. What made you
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: do that? What made you say? I'm comfortable? But I
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: need to do something else for me because I wasn't comfortable.
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: You know, for me, it was always going there and
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: you know, just really learning growing. You know, ten years
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: is a really long time for me personally. I didn't
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: expect to even be there a whole decade of my life.
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: But you know, I always say it was a divine appointment,
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: you know, from I never set out to do gospel music.
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: You know, back was always hip hop and R and B,
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: and you know, listening to hip hop from day one.
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: But now God had other plans for me, and you know,
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: he opened that door to the Academy to oversee the
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: gospel field. So you know, at the end of the day,
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: like that is an organization that is you know, basically
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: driven the nucleus of this business for music. So every
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: walk of life you're interface with from engineers, producers, labels, artists,
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: you know, and it's really an organization that can catalyst
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: you to in a place because that's what it was
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: created for, you know, not just for that award show
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: and that Grammy that you see every year. Like this
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: is a peer to peer organization, So anyone that's serious
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: about being in the music business on the business level,
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: you know, they need to be a member of that
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: type of organization. So for me, you know, I went
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: in there, like I said, to learn and grow, and
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: my path was sort of created for me as I
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: was there. But I had to be patient and persistent
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: but know that there was a bigger picture, an opportunity
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: for me down the road, you know, because music has
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: always been something I knew on the business then that
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: I was going to be a huge part of. And
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: I'm still creating that picture and vision of what that
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: looks like in my life, you know. But that was
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: a stepping stone, a piece of the puzzle for me
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: to open the door to the next plateau, which is
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: where I am now as a music supervisor. Now I'm
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: looking at this, says r C. Inspiration and Lions Cave
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: announced that they were released Green Leaf soundtrack season two
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: coming up September eight. What is your exact role in that,
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: I'm the album producer, so pretty much, you know, did
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: all the music that you see in the show on
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: camera performances. A lot of artists were written into the
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: script this season, like in the final episode, Jacquelin Car
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: a brand new artist Korean hearth on on r C
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: that was on The Voice season eight. So my role
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: in that was basically producing this soundtrack and taking some
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: of the songs that we created on the show or
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: licensed for the show to do a deal with our
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: theater distribute the album, and basically I was responsible for
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: putting that track list together. Now I'm just gonna let
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: it everybody in the r C a inspiration. Now. They
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: got all the mega gospel artists there, Donnie mcclarkin, Israel Horton,
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: Marvin sap Leandrew Johnson. I'll tell you so. So they've
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: where they're supposed to be in distribution. Heavy hitters, huh,
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: all the heavy hitters and all the heavy hitters. Now,
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: this r C a inspiration in Last Gate. Now, the
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: beauty of this is that when I'm looking at this,
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: looking at some of the artists on that the one
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: artist that jumps out to me. I know, Kurt Frank,
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: but Mavis sta mm hmmm, Let's opera. How was it
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: working with her? Well, this was actually a remix we
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: did of her song that one. This was a song
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: that we just had some producers come in and given
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: a new sound. So I mean that the incredible voice,
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: you know. I saw her documentary and you know she
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: talking about old the whole journey from Bob Dylan to
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: now this an amazing person. Now some of the artists, Now,
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: did you do any any studio work with any of
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: these autists or they just did the art They just
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: did supply the songs for the CD. Well, we have
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: a music producer, Matt Head in Atlanta, So Close Together,
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: where he created a lot of original content as well
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: for the show. So Jaquelin card the song that she
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: recorded homey Close on the soundtrack basically debor joy Wine
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: and you know when the lead actresses on the show
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: formed the song on the show. But my idea was,
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: you know, to have Jaqualin basically going and record the
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: songs so we can actually release it as a single
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: by a major artist. So that's how that ended up
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: on the soundtrack outside of the show with Jakalin is
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: singing that. So things like that happened where we have
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: an idea, we're working together, we have it in the show,
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: and then I come in and as creative and say
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: let's have Jakalin, who's an amazing young voice and talent,
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: come in. She cameoed in one of the episodes. However,
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: now re record the song for the soundtrack, so we
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: can also release it as a single. Wow. So September
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: eight is when it when it's released, But you can't
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: pre order. How can they pre ordered them? Angela? You
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: can go to iTunes and Amazon and anywhere music is
