- 2:02Speaker 1: I show will good morning everybody you are listening to
- 2:06Speaker 1: the voice, come on dig me now, one and only
- 2:10Speaker 1: Steve Harvey got a radio show. Man o man o,
- 2:13Speaker 1: man Hey, you know to date, I just want to
- 2:19Speaker 1: say something um that I don't think I've ever shared
- 2:25Speaker 1: this way before. The title is very simple, and that
- 2:35Speaker 1: is it's been worth it to me, you know. I
- 2:43Speaker 1: just I just kept thinking that this morning, that it's
- 2:46Speaker 1: all been worth it to me. And what I mean
- 2:50Speaker 1: by that is this relationship that I have with my
- 2:55Speaker 1: heavenly father, it's been worth it to me. I can't
- 3:02Speaker 1: even tell you the value that it has had in
- 3:07Speaker 1: my life. I can't tell you how it's helped me
- 3:14Speaker 1: to understand not only my purpose, but to better understand
- 3:21Speaker 1: my past. That's that's that's critical, man, because I'm grateful
- 3:29Speaker 1: for that, because so many people can't get beyond their
- 3:33Speaker 1: past and event a set of circumstances, some calamity that
- 3:39Speaker 1: been sets them. Maybe it's been grief something, but it
- 3:42Speaker 1: ties so many people up. It's been so worth it
- 3:47Speaker 1: to me it, man, it's it's been worth having someone
- 3:56Speaker 1: to go to when no one else was there? Do
- 4:02Speaker 1: you do you understand what I'm saying? It has It
- 4:06Speaker 1: has given me a place to go when no one
- 4:10Speaker 1: else has been there. Oh, hey man, we're pulling for you.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Hey man, hanging there, hey man, keep your head up,
- 4:20Speaker 1: all of that. But I gotta tell you, man, you
- 4:25Speaker 1: get yourself in some circumstances and situations in this thing
- 4:28Speaker 1: called life when no one can help you but God,
- 4:32Speaker 1: When the only person that could possibly understand or know
- 4:36Speaker 1: what you're feeling is God. The only person that I'll
- 4:40Speaker 1: sit there with you through it all and understand everything
- 4:43Speaker 1: about it has been God. It's been worth it to me, man,
- 4:49Speaker 1: It's it's been worth it to me. You know. Look,
- 4:53Speaker 1: look and the moments of ridicule that I go through
- 4:55Speaker 1: because of that, my faith and me saying it too
- 4:59Speaker 1: many times. Some you know, people don't want to hear
- 5:02Speaker 1: it that many times, or he can't talk about nothing else,
- 5:05Speaker 1: or ain't nobody trying to hear all that? You know,
- 5:08Speaker 1: I get emails all the time. You know why you
- 5:10Speaker 1: think you will, preacher, It's just people just don't get it.
- 5:12Speaker 1: So I can't. I can't. I can't help it. Man.
- 5:15Speaker 1: I can't explain myself from my walk to everybody that
- 5:19Speaker 1: I meet because everybody that I meet ain't gonna get it.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Why would I stop to explain my walk to somebody
- 5:26Speaker 1: who ain't even trying to walk? I just I just
- 5:29Speaker 1: don't have time. But man, I can tell you this
- 5:33Speaker 1: flat out as sure as I'm sitting here, y'all. It's
- 5:36Speaker 1: been worth it to me. It's been the biggest improvement
- 5:42Speaker 1: in my life. I mean, man, as I look back
- 5:46Speaker 1: over my life, and forming a strong bond with God
- 5:52Speaker 1: has been the most beneficial thing to me. You know,
- 5:56Speaker 1: these things you read in your in your in writings
- 6:01Speaker 1: in the Bible or or whatever you're reading. You know,
- 6:04Speaker 1: when you when you read scriptures and things of that nature.
- 6:07Speaker 1: It's it's been around a long time. It holds so
- 6:14Speaker 1: much truth to it. I mean, man, it's like, how
- 6:18Speaker 1: could this have been written so long ago and still
- 6:23Speaker 1: pertain directly to today? I mean that that's amazing. That
- 6:29Speaker 1: is amazing to me. That. I mean, that has to
- 6:33Speaker 1: be God at work to have written something so complete,
- 6:40Speaker 1: so dead on point that if you read it today
- 6:47Speaker 1: it means exactly what pertains to today. That's amazing, man.
- 6:54Speaker 1: That that's why my my my spiritual walker. It's just
- 6:59Speaker 1: worth it to me. And I keep saying it's worth it,
- 7:02Speaker 1: because if you're sitting out there and you're tripping like
- 7:05Speaker 1: I was tripping, deciding now let me do it. I
- 7:08Speaker 1: got a few more things I want to do. A
- 7:10Speaker 1: couple more girls. I want to hoil at, couple more
- 7:12Speaker 1: things I want to get into. I got a couple
- 7:14Speaker 1: more deals I want to do. I got a little
- 7:16Speaker 1: bit more dirt. I want to roll up on me
- 7:18Speaker 1: a little bit. First, for man, I wish I had known.
- 7:22Speaker 1: I really really wish I had known. I really wish
- 7:25Speaker 1: I had understood exactly what forming a relationship with God
- 7:30Speaker 1: would do for me. But what it has meant to me, man,
- 7:35Speaker 1: it's been worth it. It's been worth every person who
- 7:40Speaker 1: out there who hate on me, that don't even know me.
- 7:44Speaker 1: It's because I have a relationship with him that I'm
- 7:47Speaker 1: fine with that, or I don't care for it. But
- 7:51Speaker 1: it ain't gonna stop me though, See, because I know
- 7:54Speaker 1: for a fact that haters make you greater. I know
- 7:59Speaker 1: for a fact that haters validate your your mere existence.
- 8:05Speaker 1: I know for a fact that half of them is
- 8:08Speaker 1: out of envy and jealousy because of something you're doing
- 8:12Speaker 1: that they wish they could do or they won't credit for,
- 8:17Speaker 1: so they just now anything all that bam and now
- 8:20Speaker 1: you just all over the place with people. Man, I'm
- 8:23Speaker 1: so grateful for this relationship that it has not allowed
- 8:28Speaker 1: outside influences that do not have my best interests at
- 8:32Speaker 1: hard to throw me off course. It's it's just been
- 8:39Speaker 1: worth it, man, it has just been worth it. And
- 8:42Speaker 1: if you're sitting out there and you're wondering about the
- 8:46Speaker 1: benefits of it, I can't even tell you what it's
- 8:50Speaker 1: like to know that when bad things are happening to me,
- 8:54Speaker 1: the calming piece that I feel that I know that
- 8:58Speaker 1: that's gonna be all right too, that I know that
- 9:02Speaker 1: this tool shall pass. That I know in my heart
- 9:05Speaker 1: of hearts, man, that there's got to be a reason
- 9:09Speaker 1: for this, and if I can just hang on in there,
- 9:11Speaker 1: he gonna unfold that from me and he gonna let
- 9:14Speaker 1: me see it. But the number one thing I always
- 9:16Speaker 1: know is I'm gonna survive this one too. That this
- 9:20Speaker 1: tool shall pass. Man. It's been worth it to me.
- 9:24Speaker 1: It has been worth it to me, man, to have
- 9:28Speaker 1: this thing called faith, which is the belief in things
- 9:31Speaker 1: that you cannot see, and to know man along the
- 9:34Speaker 1: way that, oh my goodness, Man, even though I don't
- 9:38Speaker 1: know what's next, or even I'm not really sure about
- 9:42Speaker 1: the next step, I do know for a fact that
- 9:45Speaker 1: some mooe is coming. I do know for a fact.
- 9:49Speaker 1: It is a fact that God will take care of me.
- 9:53Speaker 1: It is a fact that He will never ever leave
- 9:57Speaker 1: me or desert me. If I just stay hear why
- 10:00Speaker 1: I'm supposed to be. He's coming. The Calvary's coming over
- 10:04Speaker 1: the hill. He coming over the hill. And when he
- 10:06Speaker 1: come over that hill, he's gonna wipe out all this
- 10:09Speaker 1: mess down here. That's that's trying to hurt me, that
- 10:12Speaker 1: that I don't have to worry about my enemies anymore,
- 10:16Speaker 1: that my enemies that are all around you can surround me.
- 10:21Speaker 1: You can shoot all the arrows you want. That's not
- 10:24Speaker 1: to say that none of them ain't gonna come close.
- 10:27Speaker 1: And they ain't gonna say that. You know, I ain't
- 10:30Speaker 1: gonna be a little under some pressure, a little nervous
- 10:32Speaker 1: about being shot at so hard. But at the end
- 10:35Speaker 1: of the day I noticed, for show, ain't none of
- 10:37Speaker 1: them gonna stick in me. You could shoot them, but
- 10:40Speaker 1: ain't none of them gonna stick in me. No matter
- 10:43Speaker 1: what you do, no weapon formed against me, nothing you can't.
- 10:51Speaker 1: You can't do nothing with me. Man, I'm so cool.
- 10:55Speaker 1: It's been worth it for me. Man, you're listening to show,

- 13:11Speaker 1: You had a roller rink at your birthday party. Yeah,
- 13:14Speaker 1: well I wouldn't do if I threw that part out,

- 14:40Speaker 1: back right after this. You're listening, Hey, guys, I just
- 14:47Speaker 1: want to invite everyone to start your morning with McCafe
- 14:52Speaker 1: donut sticks. Okay, these are incredible, sugary, sweet, yummy don't
- 15:00Speaker 1: at sticks. You can head to your local McDonald's and
- 15:02Speaker 1: order them. Or you can order them via Uber eats
- 15:05Speaker 1: during breakfast hours from participating restaurants through April. Of course,
- 15:09Speaker 1: we ordered some this morning and they are really good. Huh,
- 15:13Speaker 1: I see, I see, I see you, Junior, I see
- 15:16Speaker 1: it so good. Yeah, they're really good, you know, with
- 15:19Speaker 1: some coffee or some hot chocolate or something. I'm a
- 15:22Speaker 1: vegan and I tasted it was delicious, isn't it nice?
- 15:27Speaker 1: But don't tell the mother vegans because they get at
- 15:29Speaker 1: a time they get a little crazy with it. Yeah,
- 15:35Speaker 1: but during breakfast hours, just go to your local McDonald's
- 15:38Speaker 1: or order them via et via Uber eats and you

- 16:33Speaker 1: what nobody else has said, but mine said pimps only. Yeah,
- 16:39Speaker 1: that's why I feel. And so what did you rob? Oh?
- 16:47Speaker 1: Oh velvet, vel money, green emerald velvet. God, Okay, crushed it,
- 17:00Speaker 1: rush it didn't nailed? Yeah? What so what kind of
- 17:05Speaker 1: food they got? It? The rich parties? Oh? Yeah, you
- 17:09Speaker 1: know rich food. Well, I hate to tell you this, Tommy,
- 17:11Speaker 1: but it was no cavea. I'm sure I knew you.
- 17:16Speaker 1: You know, so you can go ahead quit thinking you
- 17:19Speaker 1: don't got it going on. I mean, there, y'all got
- 17:22Speaker 1: some chicken wings or something. I mean you y'all still
- 17:24Speaker 1: they forgot where y'all came from. I mean, you know,
- 17:28Speaker 1: it was nothing like that. It was. It was. It
- 17:30Speaker 1: was cool, man, It was it was just real cool.
- 17:32Speaker 1: You know. They asked nobody to take pictures. Ass, no
- 17:35Speaker 1: social media, you know. Yeah, people don't know songs. No, No,
- 17:40Speaker 1: you have your fun, but if you pull it out,
- 17:43Speaker 1: you can't walk ass right out there. That would be
- 17:45Speaker 1: real nice to people. Yeah, yeah, they do, they do,
- 17:50Speaker 1: they do. I mean, you know, man, because you be fans, man,
- 17:53Speaker 1: there's people that you don't really get to see. You
- 17:55Speaker 1: be fans of people, you know. Yeah yeah, yeah, like
- 17:57Speaker 1: the hull Z. But you know, man, I didn't ask
- 18:04Speaker 1: nobody for a picture, so I was I was cool. Man.
- 18:06Speaker 1: I had a really really good time. Man. It was
- 18:08Speaker 1: really cool man, when you could just go there and
- 18:10Speaker 1: not have to deal with all of that, you know,
- 18:12Speaker 1: and just and just really what it is. It was.
- 18:15Speaker 1: I mean, it was a lot of people that who
- 18:17Speaker 1: aren't famous. You know, he didn't throw a party like
- 18:19Speaker 1: there was just a lot of people that, you know,
- 18:21Speaker 1: you didn't necessarily have to be famous. So it was
- 18:23Speaker 1: really cool, man. But everybody was real nice. It was
- 18:26Speaker 1: really really nice, man. Accommodating was a good time, you know,
- 18:30Speaker 1: real class. Uh you know, man, come on, non hip problem.
- 18:40Speaker 1: But y'all were talking about the winners and stuff from
- 18:42Speaker 1: the Oscars and man, like you said, I mean, everybody
- 18:47Speaker 1: was happy. Forebody that won from for Regina King or Herscheler,
- 18:53Speaker 1: Spike Man. So now it is this cool from a Herscheler,
- 18:57Speaker 1: he won for Moonlight, anyone for green Book? Wow? Congratulations
- 19:06Speaker 1: Greatest Award. A few weeks ago he won the Blue
- 19:10Speaker 1: Cheese Award. Oh yeah, and that means what Steve. I
- 19:15Speaker 1: called him blue cheese because he'd beat dressed. Yeah. Yeah,
- 19:20Speaker 1: I gave the Blue Cheese Award to Yeah. I count
- 19:23Speaker 1: that too. Yeah. I've loved him since Remy and the
- 19:26Speaker 1: House of Cards. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yeah, he really can.
- 19:31Speaker 1: But it was a woman that was great those scenes,
- 19:34Speaker 1: all of those scenes. I ignore that, you know, someone
- 19:40Speaker 1: else who won. We don't talk about like costume design
- 19:43Speaker 1: and stuff on this, you know, normally, but this deserves
- 19:48Speaker 1: I mentioned because Ruth Carter won. She's she's a costume designer,
- 19:53Speaker 1: and she won for Best Costume Design for Black Panther. Yeah,
- 19:57Speaker 1: and it was very hard. Yeah, I mean they were
- 19:59Speaker 1: all those period costumes and all of that. The thing
- 20:02Speaker 1: that made her win, I think, uh so phenomenal is
- 20:06Speaker 1: that she thought of all these things on her own.
- 20:08Speaker 1: She created this from our own mind. Now, the period
- 20:11Speaker 1: pieces and all that, you can go back in history
- 20:14Speaker 1: and look at what they were wearing, you know, back
- 20:16Speaker 1: in those times in the eighteen hundreds and nineteen hundreds
- 20:19Speaker 1: and stuff. But Ruth Carter, that was her own design
- 20:22Speaker 1: because Wakanda wasn't a real play, right, it wasn't a
- 20:24Speaker 1: real place. I'm gonna tell you what. The fight scene,
- 20:28Speaker 1: the two fight scenes at the waterfall, Uh huh. That
- 20:32Speaker 1: aesthetically right there. Yeah, outfits in that scene alone, major, Yeah, yeah,
- 20:40Speaker 1: major to me. Yeah, they weren't best set designed too,
- 20:44Speaker 1: with the African American around and everybody had Yeah, that
- 20:48Speaker 1: was a great Yeah, and those costumes were I mean
- 20:51Speaker 1: that's hard. Amazing. Back, you didn't get a phone call
- 20:57Speaker 1: or anything, lips everything somewhere. I could have been in
- 21:05Speaker 1: there somewhere, put a mask on. Just stick out the hole. Anyway.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Congratulations to all the winners, all the winners, and Lady Gaga.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Lady Gaga one too. I like yeah, smarts By Yeah,
- 21:22Speaker 1: four stars Born for Shallows for that. I like Lady Gaga. Yeah,
- 21:25Speaker 1: I love what you chow money, right. He looked amazing
- 21:39Speaker 1: speaking and yeah, she's not doing all that stuff that
- 21:43Speaker 1: she used to do, where the meat costumes and all that.
- 21:46Speaker 1: She's she's kind of done with that or was like one.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Coming up next, church complaints with revend Motown and Deacon
- 21:55Speaker 1: def Jam in the building. Right after this, you're listening
- 22:00Speaker 1: morning show coming up at the top of the hour
- 22:03Speaker 1: and entertainment news. The oscars were last night. We'll talk
- 22:06Speaker 1: about some of the highlights and winners, presenters and performers.
- 22:09Speaker 1: But right now it is Monday, and of course Reverend Motown,
- 22:13Speaker 1: Deacon def Jam in the building and here with today's
- 22:16Speaker 1: church complaints. Hell hell ll hm. That's different Gilvil and united,
- 22:31Speaker 1: united as that's what we are. We are one h
- 22:40Speaker 1: no matter what you say, we all one, come over
- 22:47Speaker 1: all right now take that from the Book of Maze
- 22:53Speaker 1: Frankie to be exact. We're not gonna act like one
- 22:58Speaker 1: right now old as a different vision in the people
- 23:02Speaker 1: we complaints. And here Deacon del Jay, yes, good morning.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Past the eye. Well, let's get down to it. We're
- 23:11Speaker 1: trying to save some money. Past it. So the rodes
- 23:17Speaker 1: who help us stands in the front in the choir,
- 23:20Speaker 1: is who gonna be wearing the roads? Says? Nobody sees
- 23:23Speaker 1: who's behind them, So the people in the back just
- 23:26Speaker 1: gonna have to wear their regular clothes. But they fighting
- 23:28Speaker 1: over who's gonna be in the front. But ros is
- 23:31Speaker 1: just for the people in the front path. Oh, that's
- 23:35Speaker 1: a great ideal for save his money and that out
- 23:40Speaker 1: of settling. So we're looking at buying what ten robes
- 23:43Speaker 1: by ten rows. If two of you that probably eight
- 23:47Speaker 1: rows eight ros well, sister Claren, if she gets in it,
- 23:52Speaker 1: we can do six. Moving right along, Pass, we have
- 23:58Speaker 1: a problem here. The daycare closes right after service, all right,
- 24:02Speaker 1: sister Brunn. The Sparks left exactly at one o'clock yesterday.
- 24:08Speaker 1: The problem is is that these people are not picking
- 24:11Speaker 1: up their kids on the town. So it's eight kids
- 24:13Speaker 1: still locked into the daycare and Sparks is the only
- 24:18Speaker 1: one with the kids, so that when the sad thing.
- 24:20Speaker 1: But what's wrong with this is though the parents didn't
- 24:24Speaker 1: even bother to notify us until this week. Yeah, well,
- 24:32Speaker 1: I don't know what we're gonna do with the kids.
- 24:34Speaker 1: When the kids have been down in the basement, forth
- 24:36Speaker 1: knew how to cook, so they did well, they did well.
- 24:46Speaker 1: We have an issue, Pass. Someone has been still in
- 24:49Speaker 1: the tarlet paper at the bathroom, and uh so from
- 24:53Speaker 1: this point on, we will not have paper in there.
- 24:56Speaker 1: You're gonna have to start, they're gonna have to start.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Bring when you leave it. When you're leaving the morning
- 25:02Speaker 1: to come to Chase, you grab your bible and a
- 25:04Speaker 1: roll of paper on paper from now, Deacon, that's not true. Oh,
- 25:14Speaker 1: brother Deontay, who was just released from prison or two
- 25:20Speaker 1: weeks ago, that's in charge of the prison ministry. He
- 25:24Speaker 1: took all the toilet paper and is charging two dollars
- 25:27Speaker 1: a sheet in the bathroom. So that's not the male
- 25:34Speaker 1: butler attended that you see in the bathroom. That's brother Deontay.
- 25:38Speaker 1: He had. Yeah, yeah, he don't even have Mitch cologne
- 25:43Speaker 1: and that other stuff. Just the paper, just selling two
- 25:47Speaker 1: dollars a sheet. You gotta buy it, because what are
- 25:50Speaker 1: you gonna do. You're gonna need at least ten to twelves.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Oh well, brother thought, and to spend a sixty four
- 25:58Speaker 1: dollars last sun All right, Pastor, talk to these people
- 26:10Speaker 1: from me play Sister Darthan May Howard. She wants to
- 26:13Speaker 1: be put on the prayer list. And it ain't nothing
- 26:17Speaker 1: wrong with her. She just tied it. He and Sister
- 26:20Speaker 1: Frieda's name every Sunday. You're gonna have to tell these
- 26:23Speaker 1: people you can't just be on the prayer list just
- 26:25Speaker 1: to be being on it. Everyone needs prayer, Deacon, I
- 26:29Speaker 1: understand it, but the people won't on the prayer list.
- 26:33Speaker 1: We have to put her on there. But it's nothing
- 26:37Speaker 1: wrong with a pastor. It doesn't matter, deacon that nothing
- 26:41Speaker 1: is wrong with a half the people on it. I
- 26:43Speaker 1: don't want to pray for nor pastor. You can't say that.
- 26:48Speaker 1: I'm so sorry the judgmental pers. We don't have HR
- 26:53Speaker 1: at our church. Well maybe we need to get one. Well,
- 26:57Speaker 1: we're not having it. That our church we attacked free
- 27:02Speaker 1: of type business. We don't have to. And I have
- 27:07Speaker 1: a couple of things I wanted to say about the
- 27:10Speaker 1: Oscars last night. Barbara Strikes says, show look well last night, Yeah,
- 27:17Speaker 1: I love talk. When she walked out, wonderful, she looked
- 27:22Speaker 1: like Lady Gaga's mama. But I know that. And I
- 27:31Speaker 1: think another one I had heard, Samuel L. Jackson is
- 27:36Speaker 1: actually Chadwick Bowsman's daddy. Did you know that Spike Lee
- 27:48Speaker 1: had a ring that went across all his fingers. That
- 27:52Speaker 1: wasn't a ring, that's a set of brass knuckles. Well
- 27:56Speaker 1: that was for radio and love the right thing, love
- 28:02Speaker 1: and hate that that thing. That was great, Oh, wonderful.
- 28:06Speaker 1: So happy for the Oscars on the last night. M
- 28:12Speaker 1: H Spike wo So you think they'll go without a
- 28:15Speaker 1: host at the time? Back I don't really care. They're
- 28:19Speaker 1: not gonna ask me the hope that's for show man.
- 28:22Speaker 1: They might they would never never do that. That then
- 28:28Speaker 1: pay he don't know it, don't pick. I'm not really
- 28:33Speaker 1: concerned by them asking me. I just throw alie. Oops,
- 28:42Speaker 1: you dunk it. That's what I did. Oh, and we
- 28:47Speaker 1: know why that is, don't we. First of all, I
- 28:53Speaker 1: don't come on, come on, come on, walk into this show.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Tommy ain't done. I'm not Tim I Tom can you
- 29:03Speaker 1: older than Tim? No, you can't. You can't even You
- 29:11Speaker 1: can't run from the fire line to under the basket
- 29:14Speaker 1: without passing up. I mean, oh, you forgot your voice.
- 29:22Speaker 1: I forgot my voice. Mine has been a little bit
- 29:25Speaker 1: off too. What's going on? That's round? Can't sister Charlotte
- 29:32Speaker 1: mine your place? She needs the hood that's out? No,
- 29:36Speaker 1: you got you to take over announcements. You don't like
- 29:40Speaker 1: the way they're going. You're the one with the velvet voice.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Could easily do announcement because you don't need glasses with them.
- 29:50Speaker 1: Buy focal eyes. Coming up, Lord Jesus, uh, let's see
- 29:59Speaker 1: coming up at the top of the hour and Entertainment news,
- 30:02Speaker 1: the oscars were last night. Oh no, no, that's wrong.
- 30:06Speaker 1: Coming up at the top of the hour, Entertainment News
- 30:08Speaker 1: highlights of last night's ninety first Academy Awards. Well, everybody's
- 30:13Speaker 1: thrown off after that, we'll be back right after this
- 30:19Speaker 1: you're listening to and the Oscar goes too. Well. The
- 30:26Speaker 1: ninety first Annual Academy Awards were last night in Hollywood.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Didn't have a host, but they went off without a hitch.
- 30:33Speaker 1: Most people will agree. Rock and roll legend band Queen
- 30:37Speaker 1: rocked the opening of the show. We got to give
- 30:39Speaker 1: a shout out to Spike Lee too. Yes, yes, yeah, uh,
- 30:53Speaker 1: I don't know if it is it is yeah, yeah,

- 31:12Speaker 1: purple suits. Steve Yes, yes, the match hat and yeah
- 31:22Speaker 1: he was just you know, Spike, so happy for him. Uh. Anyway, um,
- 31:29Speaker 1: so much going on. Angela Bassett looks beautiful. She had
- 31:31Speaker 1: on like a hot pink She looked beautiful, awful dress. Yes,
- 31:35Speaker 1: just gorgeous. Ruth Carter's speech. Ruth Carter won for Best

- 31:48Speaker 1: uh our, our our friend, our family member, Regina King.
- 31:53Speaker 1: I'm so happy for her. I could barely get out
- 31:56Speaker 1: so happy. Ward of the night last night. Yeah, Yeah,
- 32:01Speaker 1: she won for if Field Street Qatar. Yes, Black Panther
- 32:04Speaker 1: was the first superhero film to be nominated for Best Picture.
- 32:08Speaker 1: It was the third highest grossing movie in domestic history.
- 32:11Speaker 1: So congratulations again to everyone involved in Black Black Panther. Yeah.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Best Supporting Actor Marshal Yes, the second one boy. Yeah,
- 32:25Speaker 1: because he won for Moonlight as well. Yeah, and you
- 32:28Speaker 1: know what, um, Congressman John Lewis was also there at
- 32:33Speaker 1: the Oscars. Yes, oh, and he got a standing ovation.
- 32:37Speaker 1: We forgot he got a standing ovation. Yeah, because he's
- 32:41Speaker 1: been a civil rights leader for so long, long, so long.
- 32:45Speaker 1: Back there with doctor Martin Luther. King Steve partied last night.
- 32:50Speaker 1: That's why he's big, donkey. I ain't even what I
- 32:56Speaker 1: want to be right now, man, I mean him, I
- 33:02Speaker 1: don't even really know how to be, you know what
- 33:04Speaker 1: I'm saying, And that ain't what I do. It started
- 33:08Speaker 1: at level party started, Yeah, they don't need to try to,
- 33:13Speaker 1: you know, come in fashionably late because you ain't to
- 33:18Speaker 1: start this one home. And yeah, wow, it was it
- 33:26Speaker 1: was it was star study. It was star stud So
- 33:31Speaker 1: what do you guys think that Oscar is gonna go
- 33:33Speaker 1: hostless next year? They looked pretty fast not to have
- 33:36Speaker 1: a host they really did. Yeah, I mean, and they could.
- 33:39Speaker 1: I wouldn't be mad. You know, I don't really kill,
- 33:42Speaker 1: you know, once Kevin didn't do it, I didn't kill
- 33:46Speaker 1: I think he would have brought something to it as well.
- 33:49Speaker 1: I think it would have energy. Yeah, and he definitely would.
- 33:52Speaker 1: I'm happy for him that he walked away from it,
- 33:55Speaker 1: and um, you know, it just went on. I'm just
- 33:58Speaker 1: glad that he didn't have to go through that because
- 34:01Speaker 1: he doesn't need it, right, Hosting the Oscars does not
- 34:06Speaker 1: make your career or breaking. No. I like the fact though,
- 34:10Speaker 1: that he wanted to do it, He dreamt about doing it,

- 34:18Speaker 1: and the time big night too, Yes, it was all right, Steve.
- 34:23Speaker 1: Time for today's headlines, ladies and gentlemen, miss Anne Tripp,
- 34:29Speaker 1: Thanks very much, folks. As is an trip with the news.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Let's get it going. Vice President Pence is to meet
- 34:33Speaker 1: with Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guido and Columbia today at
- 34:37Speaker 1: what's being described as an emergency meeting of Latin American leaders.
- 34:41Speaker 1: Guido won the recent presidential election down there, but he
- 34:44Speaker 1: has not been allowed to take office because the loser,
- 34:46Speaker 1: Nicholas mcdurou, refuses to leave. Guidoux is calling on other
- 34:50Speaker 1: nations to consider annie at all measures to oust m'durou.
- 34:53Speaker 1: State lawmakers in Virginia have agreed to a plan to
- 34:56Speaker 1: set up an independent commission we draw Virginia's political voting districts. However,
- 35:01Speaker 1: the plan was approved by the majority Republicans over the
- 35:04Speaker 1: objections of African American legislators like Democrat Lamont Bagley, who
- 35:08Speaker 1: heads up the Black Caucus. What this plan does, with
- 35:11Speaker 1: the eight members on both sides, does not allow for
- 35:16Speaker 1: African Americans to be guaranteed a seat at the table.
- 35:20Speaker 1: See a Federal courts struck down Virginia's current balloting districts
- 35:23Speaker 1: because the courts said that they purposely lumped black residents
- 35:26Speaker 1: together and only a few districts in direct violation of
- 35:29Speaker 1: the Constitution. Looks like going to be a due over
- 35:32Speaker 1: election in North Carolina, where the very last congressional race
- 35:35Speaker 1: in the nation has remained undecided as a result of
- 35:38Speaker 1: absentee ballot tampering by a political operative working for the
- 35:42Speaker 1: Republican candidate Mark Harris. Dan McCready is the Democrat. He
- 35:46Speaker 1: says he's more than ready to go again. No date
- 35:49Speaker 1: has been said for the new election, though, when the
- 35:51Speaker 1: GOP's Mark Harris, by the way, has reportedly suffered two
- 35:54Speaker 1: strokes in the last month. In Texas, a large Confederate
- 35:58Speaker 1: memorial slated to be removed from a place called Pioneer
- 36:01Speaker 1: Park Cemetery in Dallas. The city Council has approved the takedown,
- 36:06Speaker 1: and the effort to remove that sixty five foot statue
- 36:08Speaker 1: of Johnny Red began after the racist murders of innocent
- 36:12Speaker 1: black worshippers inside a church in Charleston, South Carolina, a
- 36:15Speaker 1: few years ago, and the effort was really kicked up
- 36:17Speaker 1: a notch two years later after the racist and deadly
- 36:20Speaker 1: march in Charlottesville, Virginia. R Kelly do back in court today.
- 36:24Speaker 1: Kelly and his attorney appeared in Boncourt on Sadie, where
- 36:27Speaker 1: Kelly's bill was seven million dollars he's still in the clink.
- 36:30Speaker 1: He's got to call one one hundred thousand. He hasn't
- 36:33Speaker 1: come up with him yet. For years, there have been
- 36:35Speaker 1: accusations that Kelly was into sexually abusing women and underaged girls.
- 36:39Speaker 1: Prosecutor say the latest allegations date back as far as
- 36:42Speaker 1: nineteen ninety eight. And finally, Hollywood honored its own last
- 36:46Speaker 1: night and with an Oscar ceremony held for the first
- 36:51Speaker 1: time in thirty years without a host. The winners were
- 36:55Speaker 1: some of them anyway, green Book for Best Picture, Hershaw
- 36:59Speaker 1: Lee for Best Sporting Actor in that film, Spike Lee
- 37:02Speaker 1: for Black Klansmen. Black Panther won two for Best Score
- 37:05Speaker 1: and for Best Costume Design, Regina King one for If
- 37:08Speaker 1: Beal Street Could Talk. This has been a trip. Now
- 37:10Speaker 1: back to the Steve Harvey Morning Show. You're listening to
- 37:13Speaker 1: this string show, all right? So Terrence Howard took to
- 37:18Speaker 1: his Instagram page and with a message for his co
- 37:21Speaker 1: star Jesse Smallett, he said, we love the hell out
- 37:25Speaker 1: of you. Jesse, of course, was charged with disorderly conduct
- 37:28Speaker 1: and filing a false police report after claiming he was
- 37:31Speaker 1: the victim of a brutal attack. January nineteen January twenty nine,
- 37:36Speaker 1: Smallett has been dropped from the remainder of the current
- 37:39Speaker 1: season of Empire, which is close to rappering production anyway. Also,
- 37:43Speaker 1: according to TMZ, Jesse Smalllett has hard evidence to support
- 37:48Speaker 1: his claim the Chicago Police Department got it wrong when
- 37:52Speaker 1: he told the media that the Smalllett paid thirty five
- 37:56Speaker 1: hundred dollars to able an Ola Sandero to staging attack.
- 38:00Speaker 1: The check was written to Abel on January twenty third,
- 38:03Speaker 1: twenty nineteen, six days before the attack. Even the brothers
- 38:08Speaker 1: Ola and Abel also told the grand jury the payment
- 38:11Speaker 1: was for training. So we'll keep you posted on that case. Yeah.
- 38:16Speaker 1: And I think Smallett goes before the court on March fourteenth. Yeah.
- 38:25Speaker 1: So he's saying that the Chicago Police Department got it wrong. Yeah,
- 38:29Speaker 1: that's what he's saying. That's what justice is saying. And
- 38:32Speaker 1: um yeah, and Terence is saying, don't be so quick
- 38:35Speaker 1: to judge. We love you. Yeah. And even the brothers said,
- 38:39Speaker 1: the payment for trans for training, and that's what it
- 38:42Speaker 1: says on the check, on the actual check in the
- 38:44Speaker 1: memo section, it says training. Yeah, he was I got
- 38:48Speaker 1: thirty five hundred four If they can make me look
- 38:50Speaker 1: like they do. Yeah, they got bodies, that's for sure. Yeah. Yeah,
- 39:00Speaker 1: they said. Jesse Smaller was doing a music video and
- 39:02Speaker 1: so he had gained weight and asked them to help
- 39:06Speaker 1: him get in shape, get in shape for the video.
- 39:08Speaker 1: So well he's called Mark. If he just wanted to
- 39:11Speaker 1: gain weight, I can show him how to do that. No,
- 39:14Speaker 1: he wanted to lose the weight he was, I show
- 39:21Speaker 1: you how to do this him. You know Christian Bale
- 39:26Speaker 1: for he was in the movie um U, that was
- 39:30Speaker 1: just no, not the wife, but yeah, vice he gained
- 39:34Speaker 1: forty pounds to play Dick Cheney. Forty pounds really yeah,
- 39:39Speaker 1: forty pounds, No one. I don't know who that want?
- 39:41Speaker 1: Yeah you didn't know who it was? That was Batman?
- 39:44Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, Hell I gained a hundred pounds after college
- 39:50Speaker 1: doing what for no damn reason at all. He just
- 39:55Speaker 1: didn't see it coming. Yeah, it's fun gaming weight. It
- 40:00Speaker 1: is putting the weight on, it's getting it off for
- 40:02Speaker 1: work anyway. Yeah, and that's part of their job. You know.
- 40:07Speaker 1: If you have a role that you want and it
- 40:09Speaker 1: requires you to game forty pounds, you gotta do it. Yeah. Yeah,
- 40:13Speaker 1: they committed. Yeah and then what right, what raging bullets.
- 40:25Speaker 1: But then they lose itself, all right. Coming up at
- 40:30Speaker 1: thirty four after the hour, more about last night's Academy Awards.
- 40:35Speaker 1: Right after this, you're listening to show, and the Oscar
- 40:40Speaker 1: goes to we talked about the ninety first Annual Academy Awards.
- 40:45Speaker 1: They were last night in Hollywood. We've been talking about

- 46:47Speaker 1: freedom papers? Well? Actually, what this is? You know? I
- 46:49Speaker 1: mean are you are you familiar with like um, say,
- 46:53Speaker 1: if you are an alien from another country and you
- 46:57Speaker 1: need a you need a green card to be here.
- 46:59Speaker 1: Are you familiar with that? Okay? So what what goes
- 47:03Speaker 1: on with Freedom Papers Incorporated is when you sign and
- 47:05Speaker 1: get freedom papers from US. What it does, it's, uh,
- 47:09Speaker 1: people who are African Americans our papers let them know
- 47:12Speaker 1: that you're actually a free person in this country. Oh
- 47:15Speaker 1: oh oh, I've been free. I'm sorry. There ain't no
- 47:19Speaker 1: flavor going on. You talking about well I'm freeing? Well
- 47:24Speaker 1: you you you may be, but you have to actually
- 47:26Speaker 1: show PaperWorks for that. When they when did they started? Sir?
- 47:30Speaker 1: This is all over the news. You have to have
- 47:32Speaker 1: freedom papers within the next six months. Every African American person,
- 47:37Speaker 1: it's gonna have to have freedom papers and have them
- 47:40Speaker 1: on on the you know. Uh, it's it's like keep
- 47:43Speaker 1: on a driver's license or a checkbook or something. You're
- 47:46Speaker 1: gonna have to have your freedom papers on you. That's some,
- 47:49Speaker 1: that's them, that's some. I'm free. I'm not about to
- 47:52Speaker 1: pay no money when I'm already free. Okay, but you're
- 47:55Speaker 1: gonna be sure. You're gonna need paperwork to show your freedom.
- 47:58Speaker 1: And you don't do you have any freedom papers at
- 48:01Speaker 1: this point, right now, No, because I don't need freedom
- 48:04Speaker 1: I'm free, sir. I don't think you quite understand. Do
- 48:07Speaker 1: you understand that you could possibly if you're caught without
- 48:10Speaker 1: your freedom papers, you could be taken into captive and
- 48:14Speaker 1: actually have to work for so many years in order
- 48:17Speaker 1: and then later on you might get your freedom. But
- 48:20Speaker 1: right now, right here, if you buy freedom papers from me,
- 48:23Speaker 1: I can I can fix it where you don't go
- 48:26Speaker 1: through that you can actually get separated from your family, Sir.
- 48:29Speaker 1: I'm not going to buy where they gonna send me
- 48:30Speaker 1: to where they gonna deport me to after I ain't
- 48:32Speaker 1: never been there. No, No, you're not going to Africa.
- 48:34Speaker 1: You could be actually here in the United States working
- 48:37Speaker 1: on a particular farm of with a lot of people
- 48:41Speaker 1: who don't have their papers. If you haven't gotten this news,
- 48:45Speaker 1: I do apologize. But within the next six months you're
- 48:48Speaker 1: going to need freedom papers you anyway, sir. Like I
- 48:52Speaker 1: said before, I'm Scott with FBI. No FPI, No, sir,
- 48:58Speaker 1: it's FPI Freedom Papers Incorporal. I don't give what it is.
- 49:03Speaker 1: I'm not about to pay no money to be free, sir.
- 49:06Speaker 1: You have to have paperwork on you to show that
- 49:09Speaker 1: you are a free citizen of the United States. Hold
- 49:12Speaker 1: how you get my number anyway? Sir? We have a
- 49:15Speaker 1: list of numbers of people that we don't think have
- 49:17Speaker 1: their freedom papers, and your name actually popped up here
- 49:21Speaker 1: in our database. So you men nine pop up on
- 49:23Speaker 1: the okay, sir, I'm trying to give them a number. Sir.
- 49:27Speaker 1: We have a database here of people who we don't
- 49:31Speaker 1: think their freedom papers. Your name is actually here. After
- 49:34Speaker 1: talking to you, it seems like you don't have your
- 49:36Speaker 1: freedom papers and we want to make sure you get them.
- 49:38Speaker 1: We're letting you know it's two hundred dollars per person
- 49:41Speaker 1: to get these actual paper So you're telling me you
- 49:45Speaker 1: got database and you're just talling black people all around
- 49:48Speaker 1: the punches. Well, no, sir, what we're doing is we're
- 49:50Speaker 1: calling African Americans and let them letting them know that
- 49:53Speaker 1: they can actually buy freedom papers from us, so they
- 49:56Speaker 1: don't have to be if they're if they're if they
- 49:59Speaker 1: ever get captured, then what can happen is is that
- 50:02Speaker 1: they can show their papers and not have to deal
- 50:04Speaker 1: with the problems that we already free. You're gonna have
- 50:08Speaker 1: a whole bunch of runaway because we ain't paying. I'm
- 50:11Speaker 1: not saying they might, but I'm not saying sure. You're
- 50:14Speaker 1: gonna have to have your freedom papers on you at
- 50:16Speaker 1: all times. That's gonna be the law within the next
- 50:18Speaker 1: six months. So what I'm trying to end can sell
- 50:21Speaker 1: you freedom papers so you'll understand that you you have
- 50:24Speaker 1: everything that you need. You have your driver's license, you
- 50:26Speaker 1: have your freedom papers, and whatever else did you carry
- 50:29Speaker 1: on you you had let's be out your money. Called
- 50:32Speaker 1: me on my phone this Sunday. It's wrong with you
- 50:36Speaker 1: freedom papers. I ain't getting you, are you? I'm Scott, sir.
- 50:41Speaker 1: I'm gonna associate here at FPI. I ain't heard about
- 50:44Speaker 1: that SPI. You just want to check from me? Think
- 50:47Speaker 1: I am about seeing you some damn money, y'all. Kiss
- 50:49Speaker 1: my sir, sir. I understand you. But what you gonna
- 50:53Speaker 1: understand is within the next six months you're gonna need
- 50:56Speaker 1: these papers. Well, they're gonna have to catch my saint ten. Okay, sir,
- 51:00Speaker 1: don't you don't you want to be free? I am free.
- 51:03Speaker 1: Everybody's free. We got a black president. He's gonna have
- 51:06Speaker 1: to get freedom papers. I buy from you. Kiss, sir,
- 51:10Speaker 1: You're gonna have to pay for these papers one way
- 51:13Speaker 1: or the other. Okay, I'm trying to I gave you
- 51:15Speaker 1: a call. I trying to be nice to you. I'm
- 51:17Speaker 1: letting you know now you're gonna have to pay for
- 51:19Speaker 1: your freedom. I'm not pampered, sir. Everyone will be captured
- 51:23Speaker 1: if they do not have freedom papers. You tell you
- 51:27Speaker 1: right now, catch me, sir, Sir. You're going to get
- 51:31Speaker 1: captured when you least expected. Sir, You're going to get
- 51:34Speaker 1: captured when you least expected. I'm gonna be you twom
- 51:37Speaker 1: to can'take. Y'all gonna have to catch me because I
- 51:40Speaker 1: ain't paying. I didn't look at up on the computer
- 51:43Speaker 1: right now. I can't find it. Scam trying to get
- 51:46Speaker 1: my money in. Are you on the computer? Yeah? Okay,

- 54:46Speaker 1: letter to Steve Harvey f M and click submit Strawberry Letter.
- 54:50Speaker 1: We could be reading your letter live on the air
- 54:52Speaker 1: like we're gonna read this one right now. Buckle up,
- 54:55Speaker 1: hold on tight. We gotta full you here. It is
- 54:58Speaker 1: Strawberry letter. All right. Subject, He's the daddy, but I'm
- 55:02Speaker 1: the father. Dear Stephen, Shirley. I am a thirty year
- 55:05Speaker 1: old single man and I had a special lady that
- 55:08Speaker 1: I dated for four years. Over the years, we had
- 55:11Speaker 1: our differences, so we were on again, off again. During
- 55:15Speaker 1: one of our off periods, she dated another guy and
- 55:18Speaker 1: she got pregnant. Things did not work out with the guy,
- 55:22Speaker 1: and she and I got back together and I vowed
- 55:25Speaker 1: to raise the baby as my child. My girl and
- 55:28Speaker 1: I have paid for everything that this child has ever needed. Now,
- 55:33Speaker 1: my girl and I have called it quits for good.
- 55:36Speaker 1: I still love her dearly, but there is no romantic
- 55:39Speaker 1: involvement whatsoever. I also still love the baby, and I
- 55:44Speaker 1: planned to be a positive fatherly role model for her
- 55:47Speaker 1: and treat her like a princess. My ex girl doesn't
- 55:50Speaker 1: have a problem with it, but the baby's daddy does.
- 55:54Speaker 1: He and I have always had a little tension between us,
- 55:57Speaker 1: but we've been cool until recently. When my ex girl
- 56:01Speaker 1: and I had a big birthday party for the baby's
- 56:03Speaker 1: second birthday. I paid for the party and I hired
- 56:07Speaker 1: a photographer. The daddy came to the party for a
- 56:10Speaker 1: little while and he brought two gifts for the baby.
- 56:13Speaker 1: When I got the pictures, I put them on my
- 56:15Speaker 1: Instagram page and the baby's daddy got mad. He sent
- 56:19Speaker 1: me a tech saying we need to talk. Man to man,
- 56:22Speaker 1: I'm about me doing too much in his daughter's life.
- 56:26Speaker 1: He told me I need to step back. I told
- 56:29Speaker 1: him he needs to step up. My ex girl has
- 56:33Speaker 1: never has never asked the daddy to do more for
- 56:36Speaker 1: her and the baby because she knows I will do it.
- 56:40Speaker 1: The daddy is a convicted felon and he's been in
- 56:43Speaker 1: and out of jail for the past three years, but
- 56:45Speaker 1: he can still do better at raising his child. So
- 56:48Speaker 1: what do I do? Should I ease up and let
- 56:51Speaker 1: my ex girlfriend care for the baby alone. I don't
- 56:54Speaker 1: need the extra drama in my life. I'm just trying
- 56:57Speaker 1: to do what's right. Please help. Wow Wow, was write
- 57:04Speaker 1: Steve Um to the To the letter writer, I mean,
- 57:07Speaker 1: aren't you a good guy? And only at thirty years old?
- 57:11Speaker 1: I have to say thank you for all that you
- 57:13Speaker 1: do taking care of this child that's not yours. Um.
- 57:17Speaker 1: Your girlfriend broke up when you I mean you and
- 57:21Speaker 1: your girlfriend broke up when you were in one of
- 57:22Speaker 1: your off seasons. She went off and got pregnant by
- 57:25Speaker 1: another guy. You still love her, You're still loving this
- 57:28Speaker 1: child as if it were your own. Congratulations to you. UM,
- 57:32Speaker 1: you know there are a lot of men who would
- 57:35Speaker 1: not be in your shoes right now. I just have
- 57:37Speaker 1: to say that. UM, you know so, so we just
- 57:40Speaker 1: you know, give you Matt props for doing this. UM.
- 57:43Speaker 1: I love the line. And Steve even said when I
- 57:47Speaker 1: read it, Uh, when the dad asked you the baby
- 57:50Speaker 1: daddy asked you to step back, and you told him
- 57:52Speaker 1: to step up. And that is the issue here. He's
- 57:57Speaker 1: not stepping up. You have known this baby and love
- 58:00Speaker 1: this baby and with her mom, so you feel a
- 58:03Speaker 1: part of this baby's life. So you do step in
- 58:07Speaker 1: and step up and take care of things when when
- 58:11Speaker 1: it's needed. But now I gotta ask you because it
- 58:15Speaker 1: doesn't seem like it seems like the little girl has
- 58:18Speaker 1: two dads. Does she know who her real dad is?
- 58:20Speaker 1: Does she think you're her dad? Or what is the situation?
- 58:24Speaker 1: You didn't make that clear in the letter. It doesn't matter,
- 58:28Speaker 1: you know, if the dad's a convicted felon, as long
- 58:30Speaker 1: as long as he's doing his responsibility as a dad.
- 58:33Speaker 1: It doesn't sound like he is. I do think in
- 58:37Speaker 1: this situation you may need to step back. Let the
- 58:42Speaker 1: mom and him get it together, whatever their relationship is,
- 58:46Speaker 1: to take care of this baby. You know, she if
- 58:49Speaker 1: you're the real dad, and apparently you are, go ahead.
- 58:53Speaker 1: I mean if the other guy's the real dad, excuse me,
- 58:55Speaker 1: and apparently he is. Let's see what he's going to do.
- 58:59Speaker 1: He's the daddy. He want you to step back. It's
- 59:01Speaker 1: not your biological child, So perhaps you should step back
- 59:04Speaker 1: and let this dad take over and take care of
- 59:07Speaker 1: his child. See what he's going to do. You can
- 59:10Speaker 1: wait it out. You said you don't need the extra drama.
- 59:13Speaker 1: Just wait and see what they're gonna do, and maybe
- 59:15Speaker 1: that'll make the mom step up and require more of
- 59:17Speaker 1: the real dad too. Steve, all right, we got a
- 59:21Speaker 1: problem here because I have to straighten something out. I
- 59:25Speaker 1: think I don't know if people are going to agree
- 59:27Speaker 1: with me on this, but I've talked it over with
- 59:30Speaker 1: several fathers because I've lived this predicament. Here. He's the daddy,
- 59:36Speaker 1: but I'm the father. All you have to do is
- 59:38Speaker 1: reverse daddy. He's the father. He's the father of the baby.
- 59:43Speaker 1: The father is the person who provided to see that's
- 59:48Speaker 1: the father. The daddy is the one who takes care
- 59:52Speaker 1: of him. The one that the baby turns around and says, daddy,
- 59:55Speaker 1: can I go to school? Daddy? Can I have some icecream? Daddy?
- 59:59Speaker 1: Can you take me to the park? That's daddy. I've
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: often said this, any male species, any member of the
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: male species, can father a child. It takes a special
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: man to be a daddy. And you saw and you, sir,
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: that wrote this letter, are that special man. You are
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: that special man. You're the daddy. I just I just
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: want you to understand the terminology so you can understand
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: what you really got going on him. He's the father
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: because on the birth certificate probably would have to have
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: his name. You know, he fathered the child. He fathered
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: the child. But that's just one step. You know, if
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: every father would act like a daddy, then we could
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: solve all these problems we have in our communities, and
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: we could solve all the problems of having mentors. But
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: see the problem is, brother, every father don't act like you.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: Every father shucks hiss his responsibility and walk off and
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: act like them kids don't exist. That's why you are
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: needed as so much as the daddy. Now your girl
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: and I y'all, and finally called it quits for good.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: You still love her, but there's no romantic involvement. But
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: you say you still love the baby, and I plan
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: to be a positive fatherly role model for her and
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: treat it like a princess. I applaud you for that.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: My ex girl don't have a problem with But the
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: baby's father does. You say the baby's daddy, but he
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: ain't do it. Daddies do duties. Daddy's is who the
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: child can call daddy. Daddy. Very few women, very few
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: children go father, They go daddy, And so the father
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: got a problem. Now, y'all had always had a little
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: bit of tension between us, but we've been cooling too. Recently.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: My ex girlfriend and had a big birthday party for
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: the baby's second I pay for the party, Hi to photographer.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: Guess what then he show up, Disney Dad. Here he comes.
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: Ain't brought a damn thing now he Disney Dad. I
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: got something for that when we come back right after this.
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: So you just stay tuned because now you're don't paid
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: for everything. Now here he come, Disney Dad. You don't
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: pay for parties photographers, and he bring it a little
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: too little park As Givesney here he comes, all right,
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: Steve we'll have part two of your response coming up
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: at twenty three after the hour right after this. You're listening,
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: all right, Steve, Let's recap today's strawberry letter subject. He's
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: the daddy, but I'm the father, But you switched that around. Recap.
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: He's the father, you're the daddy. See, he fathered the child,
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: but being the father of that, he gives you certain rights,
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: of course by law. But the respect that's gonna come
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: from the child is the one that she got, that
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: she calls daddy, the one that's dad, the one that's
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: walking her to school, taking her to the park, whole
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: in her hand, going to father, daughter dances. That's the
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: one who really deserves the credit. And you, sir, deserve
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: a lot of credit. Now we got a problem because
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: there's always been a little bit of tension between you
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: and homeboy Hire. But see now the problem is okay,
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: it all jumped off when y'all you threw this big
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: birthday party for the baby's second birthday. You pay for
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: the party. Hi, the photographer, the daddy came to the
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: party for a little while. He bought two gifts for
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: the baby. Then when you got the pictures because you
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: were proud daddy. You posted on man, look at my
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: little baby over here, put him on the Instagram bread
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: and the baby daddy got mad. But see, I bet
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: you the baby daddy didn't put it on his Instagram page.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: Betty didn't. Probably didn't, just like he didn't pay for
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: the photographer, just like he didn't pay for the party.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: But he bought two gifts. But he came to the
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: party you paid for. See, that's why did daddy be
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: getting tight at You're gonna roll up in here while
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: everything's sponsored. Now you're gonna play Disney Dan like ding
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: ding ding ding here. I'll come, Oh bro, come on man, Okay,
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: you put him up. He's sent me a text saying
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: we need to talk man to man about me doing
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: too much in his daughter's life. So if you didn't
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: throw the party, the baby weren't gonna handle party because
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: the father show wasn't chunking out no change for no party.
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: But the daddy did so now he said you're doing
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: too much in He told me I need to step back.
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: Then you told him right, You told him he needed
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: to step up, see not not see see, since we're
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: talking man to man, you gave it to him right
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: between the teeth I'm talking about. No, I need to
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: step back. No, no party, then you need to step up.
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: But see you doing what daddies do because you know
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: how to do what daddies do. Now you're making him bad. No,
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: he making itself look bad in and out of jail.
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: And now little people can get in and out of
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: jail and be great dads. But obviously he ain't doing
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: that though. Now, if you want to be the girl daddy,
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: quit taking your ass to jail and through every every
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: time you get on probation. Come on, dog. My ex
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: has never asked the daddy to do more for her
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: and the baby because she knows I will do it.
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: The daddy, the father is a convicted felon. He's been
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: in and out of jail for the past three years.
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: He got to fix that part of his life. If
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: the children is so important to him, then be available
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: for your children. But he can still do He can
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: still do better at raising his show. Ya can't. So
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: what do I do? Should I ease up and let
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: my ex girlfriend care for the baby alone. I don't
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: need the extra drama in my life. I'm just trying
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: to do us right now. Shirley's exactly right. If the
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: father wants you to step back, technically, legally, you're gonna
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: have to step back or else it's gonna be some drama.
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: But see when he don't step up, then if he
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: don't step up, then the daughter gonna be lacking. And
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: we just have to see how I go. But see,
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: the mother gonna have to get involved here a little
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: bit and say, hey, look, you are gonna have to
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: step up and do the right thing because this man
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: loves this little girl and he's willing to do the
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: right thing. Now what you're gonna do. But that puts
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: you in a hard place, man, because now she got
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: to speak up for you, and it puts her in
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: this part a hard place because maybe she would love
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: for the father to have an active role in the
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: daughter's life, as do most women. Most women would love
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: for the father of the baby to do the right thing.
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: It's just a dog gonna shame that there's so many
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: out here who don't want to do the right thing
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: by their children. So we have a dilemma. But you
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: told him right, you're gonna have to step up. So
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: just hey, man, you're about to be in a thankless position. Bro.
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: I hate to tell you this, but you may be
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: in a thankless position. But just stay in the background.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: If the baby needs something, get it for when you
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: go over there and speak to him and play with her.
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: Just go ahead and do it. Stay out the dudes way,
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: because you know ain't no telling what he would do.
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: He already ain't making a lot of solid decisions. So
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: you know, man, you don't want to be put yourself
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: in a position where you got to get yourself locked
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: up too, So you gotta step back, be there in
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: case the baby needs something. Ain'tn't need it to baby
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: suffering because her damn father makes it irrational decisions and
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: you're gonna have to play it in the background. The
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: baby gonna get older, he may go down and get
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: his ass locked up for thirty years he keep on,
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: So you know, just stick around, man. But right now
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: it's gonna be a thankless job. You do understand that.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: But if you could be there to help the lady
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: out with a child, that's an admirable thing to do.
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: It won't be a lot of thanks and benefits for it.
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: Maybe you can go by and see the girl who
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: butt hole ain't around, but you gotta be careful because
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: if you roll upon you, it's gonna be a problem.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: You do understand that. And the real problem ain't the baby.
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: The real problem is the woman. She ain't trying to
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: make it no problem, but he kind of created the
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: problem for itself because he can't stay out of jail,
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: so he jealous about the baby. But he don't want
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: you up around his wife, around his girl, because you
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: making him look bad in front of the woman. That's
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: the real deal. So please understand that. Keep doing your
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: things supported when you can. It's gonna be a thankless job. Soldier.
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: I'm sorry to tell you that, but eventually it can
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: turn around. You may end up with the little girl
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: in your life anyway. What a good guy, right, Steven
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: at just thirty years old. Man, he's on point, he
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: really really is. Don't stand up so hard that you
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: get yourself in a bad situation with this butt home
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: and then you and jail too. Don't do that. Step back,
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: play the game. Yeah, and when you need it, you'll
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: know it. Boy. Oh boy, well, I mean you know
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: all right, here we go. Listen. You can email us
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: or instagram us your thoughts on today's Strawberry Letter. It's

- 1:09:42Speaker 1: the award last night for Best Supporting Actress, and we're
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: going to replay that. She was on our show last
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: month in January, and you'll hear it right after this
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: you're listening to show. Listen, guys, we have to take
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: a moment to send our jolens is out to Ti
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: and his family. In case you don't know, Tis sister
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: Precious Harris passed away. She was involved in a very
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: very serious accident down in Atlanta. She was sixty six,
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: and Steve, we just want to send our condolences out
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: to Ti. Condos soldier losing a love on its tough.
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: Everybody on this show know what that feels like. So
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: condoleas is go out to Tip, King of the South
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: and all his family. Man, that's a tough one man.
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: You stay strong, Soldier. Be praying for you. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: very sad. Yeah, but I mean he did have good spirits.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: I have to say. On Instagram one of the posts
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: I saw he was playing the BGS more than a woman,
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: just saying that she was more than a woman, and
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: she was in every place celebrating. Yes, yes, absolutely, we're
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: gonna switch gears here again and we're gonna talk about
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: last night and the Oscars. It was the ninety one
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: annual Oscar Awards. It didn't have a host. We all
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: know Kevin Hurt decided to decline the hosting job. Congratulations
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: to all the winners, Spike Lee, Regina King, hers by
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: Ruth Carter green Book, I mean, so many people, Lady Gaga,
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: on and on and on, and we're just so proud
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: of our girl Regina King from back in the day
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: when we used to watch her on two two seven.
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: Now yeah, yeah, boys in the hood right, and yes
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: to winning her very first Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: She won for the role of Sharon Rivers in the
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: movie If Beal Street Could Talk, written of course by
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: James Baldwin. Just in case you missed it, here's our
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: interview with I love saying this Academy Award winning actress
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: Regina King. Nice, please welcome to the show. Everybody with
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: her acting a miss Regina King, Yah, I still watch
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: two seven Wow. Congratulations. First of all, we have to say,
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: Regina on winning the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Award
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: for Best Supporting Actress Man oh Man. Yeah, pretty exciting,
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: I'll say, uh think, yeah, you know what. I have
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: to be honest with you, Regina. When I first heard
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: the title of Beal Street to Talk, I thought it
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: was going to be about Bill Street in Memphis. Yeah.
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: Well yeah, I mean, you're not the only one. I think.
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: When James Baldwin wrote the book, it was saying that
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: there's a Bill Street in every city. Yeah, you knows.
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: The movie takes place in Harlem, and the book story
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: act takes place in Harlem. So there is a version
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: of a Bill Street in Harlem, in La wherever you are,
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: that's your version of a Bill Street. Yeah. Your role
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: in this movie, it was just fantastic. You played that
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: loving mother, that mother that never gives up, that believes
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: in her children, that loves her husband and just just family.
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: And I love that about the movie. And you won
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: these awards. How does that make you feel, Regina? Well,
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: I mean, and I'm not going lives. Winning always feels good.
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: Of the one hundred yard Dash or a Golden Globe Award,
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: It's especially exciting because for us, James Baldwin is like
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: a Shakespeare of our time. You know, he we read
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: his essays, we watched his interviews, and he just was
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: always such a passionate person and always spoke for us
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: so well and captured the black American experience so well.
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: So to be in a project that's bringing younger people
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: to his words and knowing the history of James Baldwin
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: and what he means to us, that's that's an honor.
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: I mean, this is the first American adaptation of James
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: Baldwin novel and I get to say that I was
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: in it, like that's kind of badass. Yea. We got
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: to see newcomer Kiki Lane do an amazing job as
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: your daughter. What a great young actress she is. She
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: plays Trishan the movie, as well as Stefan James, who
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: started as Fannie in the movie. So, I mean, what
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: was it like working with these young up and coming actors.
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: It was a treat because both to Fine and Kiki,
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: they're not in this to be celebrities. They are truly artists.
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: They are actors. They studied, they do their homework, they
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: are professional, and you know, you always are kind of you.
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: You're hesitant when you come into something and you know
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: you're gonna have young talent, you don't know how serious
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: they're gonna take it. And they understood the responsibility that
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: they had and they held each other up. They were
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: just amazing partners for each other. It was It was
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: a joy to watch. I cannot wait to see what
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: else Kiki's gonna do. Her next film is Native Sun.
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: So that's how serious she walked about. Yeah, yeah, she's
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: coming for it like that. Yeah. I really did feel
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: the love between this young couple. You really felt it
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: between them. So we look for great things from them.
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: But Regina, we're so happy that you know, you took
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: the time to just stop by and say hey to us.
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: Anything else you want to tell people that haven't seen
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: the movie, If Bill Street can talk, I just encourage
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: people to go out because this is just not only
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: a love story between a young couple, but if you
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: see the love for a five that a father has
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: for his daughter, you see the love that coman character
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: and I that we have for each other, and you
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: don't often get to see that, especially for pieces that
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: are period pieces that take place. You know, this takes
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: place in nineteen seventy and you get to see us
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: loving on each other. You get to see sisters loving
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: on each other, and especially for young women, to see
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: how a young man is supposed to care for them, yes,
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: and love them with care. It's a beautiful thing to see.
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: All right, So, Steve, I don't know, I just really
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: I kind of felt she was gonna win it. It
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: just seemed like Regina was going to win. It really
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: did well I was hoping, so anyway, absolutely, but anyway,
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: congratulations again to Regina King. All Right, listen, guys, coming
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: up at the top of the hour today's comedy segment.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: It's called new Stupid Laws. Jay will be back to
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: explain right after you're listening to show. All right, So Jay,
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: this is called new stupid Laws, So please explain this.
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: I will definitely do that. Um, California is trying to
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: pass a law that's going to be illegal to sell fur,
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: and except in Beverly Hills. They're trying to outlaw the
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: selling of the fur. This is a stupid law. It
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: hasn't passed yet, but they're working on some boats to
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: come up. So since I said this is a stupid law,
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: they're not gonna stop there. They're gonna come at us
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: with more stupid laws. So here's a couple of stupid laws.
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: You can go to the strip club, but the strippers
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: are not allowed to move. You just have to stand still.
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: That's a stupid law. Over make it rain, and if
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: you do, you have to use quarters to get hurt.
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: Your stupid laws and stupid lars. You can only take
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: six selfies a month. People get hurt. They're walking into
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: If people get chicken wings will be out lawed. What
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: we're marching, that's that's Dominoes will no longer deliver. You
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: gotta go pick it up. They probably working on that.
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: You'll be able to get high in states that you
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: can get high end, but you will be not allowed
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: to get the munches. That's against the law. And you
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: the Chinese food, you only get one soy sauce one. Oh,
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: I would be mad at they doing that night they're
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: doing that now can have but the one take a one?
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: All right on the outlaw lace fronts. What that's gonna
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: be a problem. Yes, yes, that law is gonna get broken.
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: Sod Yeah, people with more than one gold tooth in
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: amount will be breaking the law. Whoa I got some
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: cousins up. I have a listen. Women who draw their eyebrows,
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: I'm way above their forehead will be breaking the law
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: that needs to be a law on your brow. So
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: sometimes that's surprised look at too much. I'm not with
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: that one. If you wear a jogging suit and you
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: look like you have never been jogging, we're gonna give
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: you a ticket. I'm with that. I'm with it. You
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: can only change the channel in your house three times.
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: That's it, the channel three times. Yeah. White people can
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: no longer use the word bro at all. At all. Bro.
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: They can't refer to black people as bro. Man. White
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: girls when talking a months when another cannot use and
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: then she says, and then I says, and then she says,
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: and then I says, and then she says, and then
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: I said, And they last on the book. Change double
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: dip at a party. Everybody at the party can whip
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: your ass. Oh yeah, that's already an effect. I believe
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: you ever seen somebody put their fingers in that. I'm like,
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: wait a minute, man, that conversial they do, Oh yeah,
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: oh yeah. The guy dips the chip in the dip,
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: he eats it and falls on the shirt his girlfriend
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: takes a chip, gets to dip off the shirt. She
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: has a little bit on her lip, and he takes
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: a chip and gets it off her. I got a
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: couple of laws. If you are un attractive and want
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: to change the color of your hair, we must have
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: a family vote. I like that. I like that. I
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: just change my hair. You're not attract well, no, no,
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: If you was ugly, women came shot, but once a month,
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: but never longer than two hours. Oh go to jail.
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: Oh no, we just be crowded to him. But we're
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: gonna break out. How about that, We're gonna Scapelton County.
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: Here they come. That makes sense, No, it doesn't, Junior.
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: We don't ugly people. All ugly people shouldn't have to
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: work at night and not so dark. Do color of
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: darkness helps? Wow, I'll tell you one. All ugly feet
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: must be an enclosed shoes like that one. Yeah, but
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: they don't know it. They need to be also another
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: one ugly feet is an extra twenty dollars for pedacute man.
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: And you must bring your own glove. That's right. You
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: go to church, you can only bring one bible. That's it.
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: Just one, Okay, that's six Bibles in a bag. You're
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: not allowed to do that, Okay, I'll tell you that.
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: To be talking about church, some laws. The invitation to
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: Christ should be no more than thirty seconds. That's right,
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: that's right. We ain't gonna sit up be in beg
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: you to come get your life change. Is there somebody else?
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: It's just somebody else? Got another one. I gotta know.
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: If you drive the picture of the Last Supper, nobody
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: up there should look like Martin Luther King. Okay, two
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: ugly people should not be able to make love. They're
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: gonna bring another ugly person in this world. So we
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: need to stop that. Yeah, because he thinks he's cute.
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: He don't know it. Oh, if you're in church and
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: you stand up to testify and we thank you lying,
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: you should go to jail. You should go to jail.
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: And here, why would you lie about something the Lord?
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: You know, just you know, you know, just to make
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: it sound good, you know, but we judge it in charity. Yes, wow,
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: ohat that one ruthless alight, man. I don't want to
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: I'm not trying to fat shame Shirley. I'm just saying,
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: if you are a large person, and you show up
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: late to that middle seat. We need you to get
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: to that middle seat earlier so that everybody don't have
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: to stand up. Get there a little earlier. That's what
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: I'm saying. Last, that's it, Come on, last one. If
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: you think the sermon is about you more than three
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: times a month, you have to put in an extra
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: thousand dollars. Who talking? All right, We'll be back with
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: more of the Steve Harvey Morning Show right after this.
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: You're listening Steve Show. Illinois States Attorney Kim Fox held
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: a p conference this past Friday where she detailed the
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: charges against R. Kelly. Four victims or testifying against R.
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: Kelly as part of an upcoming sexual assault case, at
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: least three of whom were under seventeen when a crime
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: was committed. The incidents happened between nineteen ninety eight and
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: twenty ten. Kelly is facing a total of ten counts
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: of aggravated sexual abuse, which is a class to felony.
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: If Kelly is convicted on all counts and receives the
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: minimum penalty, that thirty years. The minimum penalty is thirty years.
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: And you know something, man, this is like I didn't
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: I didn't know it would come to this. This is
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: all it's my belief. This may not be true, but
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: this all came from the show the Kelly. I think
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: that it it sparked and aggravated so many people people
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: take another look, because you know, as I was watching it,
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: as we all said, we were all surprised by the
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: documentary documentary. We were sitting there going what because I
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: mean we we just did not know it was like that.
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: I didn't know it was that many people that had
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: that story. I didn't know that woman went to LA
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: with the camera and tried to get her daughter. I
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: didn't know any of that. Yeah, and when you saw it, man,
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: I think I think that's that. I think that really
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: got some people going, yeah, and the latest victims to
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: come forward, right and the latest whoever this person was
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: sent a tape to Michael Avanati and he turned it
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: in and that's yeah, and that's what started it back up, Steve,
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: you're right and as surprising pause, I don't think R.
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: Kelly changed his actions at since the documentary came in.
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: And I don't. I just don't know. And I was
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: surprised to hear um that in one of his court
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: cases back when he was going to court. They said
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: when he came out of court, when he was acquitted
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: or something, he picked up a young girl that was
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: outside in the crowd. It's one of his supporters one. Yeah,
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: you know in the in the document. Yeah, oh yeah.
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: I was just like crazy. And I think after his acquittal.
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: I think after his acquittal, I think that was some
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: behavior that just remained the same. Yep, and it just
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: came back you know. Well that's what it sounds like
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: with this case right here after Yeah, because man, I
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: mean I was crazy. I did not know that woman.
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: They had a camera following her to that room to
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: get her daughter in la. I was sitting here and
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: going like, wow, this is reality TV for real. Yeah.
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: And he's going to have his day in court in
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: March as well. If this is truly, he needs to
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: do jail. Yeah yeah, all right. And the other news guys,
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft was at a pre
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: Oscars party in Beverly Hills over the weekend. However, Craft
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: has been charged with two counts of soliciting process toots
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: down in Florida. He's been linked to sex workers and
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: a spa there, and that spot was part of a
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: sting on an international human trafficking ring. Ten spots in
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: Florida have been shut down. The charges against Craft are
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: misdemeanors at this point, and he hasn't been arrested yet.
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: He's denied the allegations. Yeah, he scored more than the Patriots.
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: He should be you call him my name. But you know, man,
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: he's gonna he's gonna walk from this. Why because he
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: has so much money or they can't prove anything absolute both.
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: He got lawyers, he got money. He gonna walk from this.
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: I don't know, you know, as as if not if
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: they can tire to sex trafficking, Yeah, awesome young girls,
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: but if you don't bought, if you don't pay for
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: sex from a willing adult, you know, I don't see that. Yeah,
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: oh not at all. All right, we'll have more of
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: the women have been trafficked. You got a problem coming
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: up right after this you're listening to and the Oscar
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: goes too well. The ninety first Annual Academy Awards were
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: last night in Hollywood. Didn't have a host, but they
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: went off without a hitch. Most people will agree. Rock
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: and roll legend band Queen rocked the opening of the show.

- 1:30:36Speaker 1: our our friend, our family member, Regina King. I'm so

- 1:31:20Speaker 1: at the Oscars. Yes, oh, and he got a standing ovation.
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: We forgot that he got a standing ovation. Yeah, because
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: he's been a civil rights leader for so long, long,
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: so long back there with doctor Martin Luther King. Steve
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: partied last night. That's why he's big. Donkey. I ain't.
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: I ain't. I ain't even what I want to be
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: right now, man, I mean him blow. I don't even
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: really know how to be, you know what I'm saying,
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: And that ain't what I do. He started at eleven
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: party started, yeah, trying to you know, come in fashionably late,
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: because you ain't to start this one home happy. Wow.
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: It was. It was. It was star studded, It was
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: star stud good. So what do you guys think the
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: Oscars are gonna go hostless next year? They were pretty
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: fast not to have a host. They really did, mean Yeah,
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: I mean, and they could. I wouldn't be mad, you know,
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: I don't really kill you know, once Kevin didn't do it.
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: I didn't care. I think he would have brought something
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: to it as well. Yeah, I think it would have
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: the energy. Yeah, and he definitely would have. I'm happy
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: for him that he walked away from it, and uh,
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: you know, it just went on. I'm just glad that
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: he didn't have to go through that because he doesn't
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: need it. Right, Hosting the Oscars does not make your
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: career or break it. No, and again, congratulations to all
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: our winners. Will be back with our last break of
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: the day and Steve's closing remarks right after this. You're
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: listening to all right, here we go, Steve, last break
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: of the day on this Monday, first day of the week,
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: big Oscar night last night, a lot of winners, um,
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: and of course you're back with your closing remarks, so
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: let's have it. We're ready. My remarks to encourage everybody
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: as always this year, I wanted to make that a
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: point of conscious effort to do that this year. But
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: I wanted to say, Uh, one of the things about
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: becoming successful everybody, and I want you to think about
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: this is, uh, You've got to be beyond aware of
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: your surroundings. You've got to get laser beam focused on
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: who you're associating yourself with. That's a critical part to
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: this thing. Man, if you want to be successful, you're
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: gonna have to surround yourself with those on the same
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: mission as you. They're not hard to find. You only
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: need one. You need one person, man who kind of
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: thinks the way you do. One person who wants to
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: get out of the circumstance that you both may find
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: yourself in. One person who might like to make it
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: to the top. You need to find one person who
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: wants more out of life than what's being offered in
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: your surroundings right now. You just need one person who's
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: willing to work just as hard as you are, as
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: close to it as possible. You need one person who's
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: willing to stay late when everybody else is going home.
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: You need one person to meet you early. You need
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: one person that you can call to say, hey, man,
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: how you doing. You hanging in now? I'm hanging in
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: there too. How you how your vision board looking? How
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: your dreams coming along? Man? You need that somebody. It's
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: always good to have an accountability partner, but find it.
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: Find it, man, because it will help you. Because sometimes
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: when you're down. It's good to get a call from
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: somebody that's on the same mission as you, to be
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: able to say, hey, man, keep your head up, I
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: know you might be going through some stuff, or just
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: say hey man, how you doing. Man, I'm glad you called. Man. Man,
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: I got some bad news other day, Man that I
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: thought it was gonna work out, but it don't look
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: like it's working out. Okay, cool, ain't no problem, man.
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: We could straighten that out. We can straighten that out
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: for you. You gotta have that in your life. So
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: find some groups, a group, something, surround yourself with those
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: on the same mission as you. Now you all have
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: an advantage now because you all in that the era
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: of technology. Do you know that there are support groups
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: for just about everything. If there's support groups with specialized diseases.
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: I talk to a friend of mine who has this
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: ailment that's very unique, and they said that they went
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: online and found a support group of people and this
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: is very very rare condition and they have a support group. Well,
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: if you look online, there's people trying to be successful
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: and practically every field. As people are trying to get
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: over in real estate, people trying to get over on
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: the internet, people trying to get over. In the fight game,
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: people trying to get over. It's so many people that's
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: trying to get over, and chances are the feel the
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: feel that you're in. So you know, I want you
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: to find yourself these people. Find yourself somebody who's on
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: the same page as you. Get yourself some support, get
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: in a support group, find way to get an accountability done.
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: Someone man to share your hopes and dreams just like
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: you do. It's available, y'all, It really really is. And
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: that's something that's very important that I want people to
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: start thinking about and considering. Don't try to do it
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: by yourself. Now, let me throw this at the end
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: of this. If you're having trouble finding somebody, I have
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: a suggestion for you. God is available twenty four seven.
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: He really is. He is available twenty four seven. He's
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: always there when I can't find nobody. God is always there.
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: He's always available. It's amazing, man. And you know what
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: I get most from him. I get comfort in knowing
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: that he got me, even when it looked like everybody
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: else thinking they got me. I always take comfort in
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: knowing the fact that he has me. Like I said
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: last week, when I look back on all the days
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: where it looked like I wouldn't go make it. I
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: look back on all the times I didn't think I
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: couldn't do it no more. When I look at my
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: track record for surviving bad days, my track record for
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: surviving bad days is one hundred percent. Yours is too.
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: Ain't God good? He ain't y is man? Yeah, he
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: is all day long. God got you, always has, always
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: will when you can't find nobody else. Now, remember God
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: is available. Prayer works. Those are my remarks today. All right, Steve,
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: drop that mic? I dare you to try? Was that it? Yeah?
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: I dropped, I dropped it on my chest. I'm gonna
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: do it again. That's a fabric. Sounds like you're fighting
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: with it. Yeah, we need a mate for you just
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: to drop. Yeah, a problem kind of how to drop
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: these big mics with blow somebody's ear drums out and
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: we'll need that mic, Yeah and our ears. We folk. Yeah,
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: have a great weekend for all. Steve Harvey contests. No
