- 0:10Speaker 2: That was a good That was a beautiful moment when
- 0:13Speaker 2: the Buddy saved Joe Biden.
- 0:15Speaker 3: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Welcome, It is the forty seven Morning Update. Ben Ferguson
- 0:22Speaker 2: with you, and here are three big stories that you
- 0:24Speaker 2: may have missed that we talked about this week. First up,
- 0:27Speaker 2: there is a radical judge. It was busted actually harboring
- 0:32Speaker 2: people that are considered terrorists from these hardcore criminal gangs.
- 0:37Speaker 2: What happened to him. We'll have that story for you
- 0:39Speaker 2: in just a moment. Also, Donald Trump decided to meet
- 0:43Speaker 2: with retail CEOs about tariffs and what was the takeaway
- 0:47Speaker 2: deals are starting to get very close to getting done.
- 0:50Speaker 2: And finally, Linna McMahon joins us from the Treaty Room
- 0:54Speaker 2: at the White House to talk about waste at the
- 0:57Speaker 2: Department of Education and working with DOE. Is the forty
- 1:01Speaker 2: seven Morning Update and it starts right now.
- 1:03Speaker 3: Story number one, there's a pretty.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Interesting trend that is happening now with the Democratic Party.
- 1:09Speaker 2: They are now in love with terrists, terrorists that are
- 1:13Speaker 2: in radical gangs in this country, and they're doing everything
- 1:16Speaker 2: they can to protect them, and say the American people,
- 1:19Speaker 2: we've seen this from congressmen and sentators that are running
- 1:22Speaker 2: down to meet with MS thirteen gang members held in Venezuela,
- 1:26Speaker 2: for example. And now we may know a little bit
- 1:29Speaker 2: more about just how corrupt the Democratic Party is, how
- 1:33Speaker 2: compromised they are by these gangs that have been declared
- 1:37Speaker 2: terrorists organizations look to the New headline. A Democratic judge
- 1:41Speaker 2: in New Mexico has been forced to resign from his
- 1:45Speaker 2: bench after immigration agents arrested a alleged trend diiragu gang
- 1:51Speaker 2: member living in his home. The illegal alien entered into
- 1:56Speaker 2: the US in Alpaso, Texas, before being released on an
- 1:59Speaker 2: immigrantion parole. Due to overcrowding, he eventually moved. We've now
- 2:04Speaker 2: learned to New Mexico well. Federal prosecutors in the District
- 2:08Speaker 2: of New Mexico alleged at the twenty three year old
- 2:12Speaker 2: was illegally in possession of a firearm and has direct
- 2:15Speaker 2: ties to the hyper violent Venezuelan gang. Earlier this year,
- 2:20Speaker 2: President Donald Trump in the US State Department declared the
- 2:23Speaker 2: gang to be a foreign terrorist organization. Police arrested Lopez
- 2:28Speaker 2: while executing a search warrant on February the twenty eighth
- 2:31Speaker 2: at the home of don On, a County, New Mexico
- 2:34Speaker 2: magistrate judge and his wife. The Albuquerque Journal is reporting now.
- 2:40Speaker 2: The report follows a detention hearing where prosecutors claim the
- 2:43Speaker 2: illegal alien is a flight risk and an alleged trende
- 2:47Speaker 2: Aragua gang member Kanu. A former police officer, allowed the
- 2:52Speaker 2: gang member to file a request for immigration relief using
- 2:55Speaker 2: the judge's residential address. This isn't a Now, that's not all.
- 3:01Speaker 2: We also now in court exhibits have seen pictures that
- 3:04Speaker 2: were posted on social media of the foreign national with
- 3:09Speaker 2: the judge. Yes, they're good friends. Court records obtained revealed
- 3:14Speaker 2: that Lopez, a Venezuelan national, entered the United States illegally
- 3:18Speaker 2: an Eagle Pass during the peak of the Biden border
- 3:21Speaker 2: crisis in December of twenty twenty three, and then due
- 3:25Speaker 2: to overcrowding in the Eagle Passed attention facility, he was
- 3:28Speaker 2: released three days later. Social media posts obtained by the
- 3:33Speaker 2: US Attorney's Office for the District of New Mexico show
- 3:36Speaker 2: Lopez and other illegal aliens at a shooting range. They
- 3:40Speaker 2: appeared to be in possession of multiple firearms at a
- 3:43Speaker 2: large quantity of handguns and rifle ammunition. In one image,
- 3:47Speaker 2: the man is also holding an AR fifteen style rifle
- 3:50Speaker 2: in one hand and a semi automatic pistol in the other.
- 3:52Speaker 2: A video shows the Venezuelan migrant in possession of another
- 3:55Speaker 2: AR fifteen equipped with a suppressor. He fired the rifle
- 3:59Speaker 2: until empty and then reloaded it with a new magazine,
- 4:02Speaker 2: which he continued to fire. The prosecutor stated now the
- 4:05Speaker 2: photos and videos show Lopez displaying the Trendeo Raga gang tattoos.
- 4:11Speaker 2: The United States government recently declared this violent gang to
- 4:13Speaker 2: be a quote transnational criminal organization. As well, Investigators found
- 4:18Speaker 2: additional firearms in a neighboring home owned by Nancy Kano's
- 4:23Speaker 2: daughter that would be the judge's daughter. Lopez was seen
- 4:26Speaker 2: in possession of several of these firearms. Investigators report that
- 4:30Speaker 2: the Venezuelan national move to Olpasso after being released by
- 4:34Speaker 2: border patrol agents. There he roomed with five other people,
- 4:38Speaker 2: court document state, and while living there, Lopez met Nancy
- 4:42Speaker 2: Kano and began doing construction and handy man jobs. Kano
- 4:47Speaker 2: extended an offer for the illegal alien to live in
- 4:49Speaker 2: the casida behind her home. Now, other images from Lopez's
- 4:53Speaker 2: cell phone obtained by bright Bart News show graphic images
- 4:57Speaker 2: of multiple decapitated and mutually bodies. Let me say that again.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Other images from Lopez's phone obtained by Breitbart News show
- 5:07Speaker 2: graphic images of multiple decapitated and mutilated bodies. Lopez is
- 5:14Speaker 2: currently in the Donna Ana County Detention Center, where he's
- 5:18Speaker 2: charged with being an illegal alien in possession of firearms. Now,
- 5:21Speaker 2: it's not clear if Judge Conno or his wife Nancy
- 5:25Speaker 2: will be charged with harboring an illegal alien or providing
- 5:28Speaker 2: material support to a foreign terrorist organization. But if you
- 5:32Speaker 2: want to know whose side the left is on, well
- 5:35Speaker 2: just take a look at this new Mexico Democratic judge
- 5:38Speaker 2: and what did it cost him when he was busted
- 5:40Speaker 2: for all this? I only I just had to resign
- 5:42Speaker 2: after Ice arrested the gang member in his home.
- 5:46Speaker 3: Next story number two.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Monday was a very big day at the White House,
- 5:50Speaker 2: not just because it was the Easter egg role, but
- 5:52Speaker 2: Donald Trump also met with major US retailers to discuss tariffs.
- 5:57Speaker 2: This time, the President set down with major retailers including Walmart,
- 6:02Speaker 2: Home Depot, Lows, and Target to discuss the broad based
- 6:06Speaker 2: tariffs likely to raise the cost of everyday goods that
- 6:10Speaker 2: they import. Now, big US chains like Walmart and Target
- 6:14Speaker 2: they rely heavily on imported goods, and tariffs, including the
- 6:18Speaker 2: one hundred and forty five percent levies on China, are expected.
- 6:21Speaker 2: They claim to add strain on Americans already burdened by
- 6:26Speaker 2: prolonged inflation. That is, obviously their talking point is they
- 6:30Speaker 2: want everything to go back to cheap Chinese goods, regardless
- 6:34Speaker 2: of what it means for American workers. Now, this meeting
- 6:38Speaker 2: was important and it adds to what we have seen
- 6:41Speaker 2: over the last several weeks as prominent CEOs of express
- 6:45Speaker 2: support for President Donald Trump's economic policies, highlighting potential benefits
- 6:51Speaker 2: for their industries as well in the long term. The
- 6:54Speaker 2: CEO of JP Morgan Chase has acknowledged the strategic use
- 6:58Speaker 2: of tariffs as economic tools, stating that if they are
- 7:01Speaker 2: slightly inflammatory but beneficial for national security, then it's acceptable.
- 7:07Speaker 2: The CEO of Goldman Sachs know that the business community
- 7:11Speaker 2: understands the administration's engagement and appreciates the efforts to involve
- 7:16Speaker 2: them in policy discussions, which is exactly why the President
- 7:20Speaker 2: decided to bring in companies like Low's and Walmart and
- 7:23Speaker 2: Home Depot and Target. The CEO of Bank of America
- 7:26Speaker 2: also highlighted that favorable regulatory changes under Trump's administration could
- 7:31Speaker 2: provide companies with the certainty to be more aggressive as
- 7:35Speaker 2: interest rates decrease. Additionally, as you know, tech leaders like
- 7:39Speaker 2: Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jeff Bezos have showed interest
- 7:44Speaker 2: in engaging with Trump's administration, drawing to his pro growth
- 7:48Speaker 2: agenda and favorable economic policies such as tax cuts and
- 7:53Speaker 2: major issues of deregulation. Now, these developments indicate a trend
- 7:58Speaker 2: among corporate leaders to align with President Trump's economic policies,
- 8:03Speaker 2: focusing on potential benefits such as tax reductions, deregulation, and
- 8:08Speaker 2: increase capital investment. Now, as for these new companies that
- 8:12Speaker 2: have come to the table like Walmart and Home Depot,
- 8:15Speaker 2: one of the things the President has made clear things
- 8:18Speaker 2: are going to change. It may not be what's best
- 8:21Speaker 2: for your company in the short term, but it's what's
- 8:23Speaker 2: best for Americans. In the long term, including American workers.
- 8:27Speaker 2: He's also making it clear to these companies that Liberation
- 8:31Speaker 2: Day included allowing American workers to get back into manufacturing.
- 8:37Speaker 2: And that's exactly what the message need to be to
- 8:40Speaker 2: so many of these companies that were relying on cheap
- 8:43Speaker 2: goods and cheap labor in China. Trump's tariff policies have
- 8:47Speaker 2: obviously sent ripples across numerous industries around the world, and
- 8:52Speaker 2: the President said that was all part of the strategy. Now,
- 8:56Speaker 2: US stocks are going up and down as many are expecting,
- 8:59Speaker 2: with year treasury notes and the US dollar also coming
- 9:03Speaker 2: under some pressure. The present made it clear this is
- 9:07Speaker 2: short term for a massive shift in how this country
- 9:10Speaker 2: works when it comes to importing goods from countries, especially
- 9:13Speaker 2: that are adversaries to the United States of America. And
- 9:17Speaker 2: having these important conversations the White House clearly means that
- 9:21Speaker 2: the conversation is moving forward and getting closer to resolution.
- 9:25Speaker 3: And here is story number three.
- 9:27Speaker 2: What was the biggest waste of tax dollars that you've
- 9:30Speaker 2: uncovered at DOGE And let's start there.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Well, I can tell you know what they First of all,
- 9:37Speaker 1: let me say I welcomed the DOGE group that came
- 9:40Speaker 1: in and has been looking at a lot of the
- 9:41Speaker 1: wasteful spending that has been going on. I think one
- 9:44Speaker 1: of the things that jumped out at me was that
- 9:46Speaker 1: we had about six hundred million dollars that we were
- 9:48Speaker 1: spending on teacher training programs. Now that's a hundred million,
- 9:53Speaker 1: So now that sounds, you know, incredibly like a good
- 9:57Speaker 1: amount of money to be spending on a good thing
- 10:01Speaker 1: to train our teachers. But what we really were finding
- 10:04Speaker 1: was that most of the programs at that point were
- 10:07Speaker 1: really focused on DEI training, yeah, and not on what
- 10:11Speaker 1: excuse me, you would typically be looking at, you know,
- 10:14Speaker 1: for teacher training. And so we took back that money
- 10:18Speaker 1: and we shut down that kind of training program. So
- 10:21Speaker 1: that was one that just jumped out at me.
- 10:22Speaker 2: So is it fair to say the Department of Education?
- 10:25Speaker 2: And I have a sister, she's in an inner city
- 10:28Speaker 2: school and she's doing the best that she can. My
- 10:31Speaker 2: mom was a teacher, my aunt was a principal. Like
- 10:34Speaker 2: I come from that world. But what is sad to
- 10:38Speaker 2: me is it seems like the Department of Education has
- 10:40Speaker 2: basically decided we're going to indoctrinate kids instead of educate kids,
- 10:43Speaker 2: and we're going to do it in a way with
- 10:45Speaker 2: using taxpayer dollars to indoctrinate them and what we believe
- 10:47Speaker 2: in instead of reading, writing, and arithmetic. How far off
- 10:50Speaker 2: am I on that from a national standpoint.
- 10:52Speaker 1: You know, far off on that at all. And what
- 10:55Speaker 1: we have really seen, I mean, think about this, Ben.
- 10:58Speaker 1: The Department of Education was established in nineteen eighty and
- 11:01Speaker 1: since that time, we have spent over three trillion dollars
- 11:04Speaker 1: in education, and our performance scores have continued to go down.
- 11:09Speaker 1: And you know, I don't I don't say there haven't
- 11:11Speaker 1: been things that have been tried. I mean, the Bush
- 11:13Speaker 1: administration tried no Child Left Behind. Yeah, Barack Obama tried
- 11:19Speaker 1: race to the top. But we're failing in the mission
- 11:23Speaker 1: of teaching our our students. And I think the reason
- 11:26Speaker 1: for that is we have gotten away from basics. We've
- 11:29Speaker 1: gotten away from teaching reading and teaching arithmetic. And so
- 11:34Speaker 1: what we're finding in schools that are showing improvement in
- 11:36Speaker 1: scores is that they have returned to the science of reading,
- 11:40Speaker 1: teaching phonics, teaching repetitive you know, just memorization like in
- 11:46Speaker 1: mathematics for your times table and things like that, and
- 11:49Speaker 1: then building upon that base. You know, up through third
- 11:53Speaker 1: grade you are learning to read, and after third grade
- 11:56Speaker 1: you're reading to learn, and if you can't read, you
- 11:59Speaker 1: know going to be able to learn. So we found
- 12:02Speaker 1: that a lot of the fall off, if you will,
- 12:05Speaker 1: in education is because we're not teaching the basics, and
- 12:07Speaker 1: so a little return to that basics is great. Now
- 12:10Speaker 1: a lot of other things it can be introduced that
- 12:12Speaker 1: can be helpful, like AI Yes, because they're.
- 12:16Speaker 2: How far behind are we on technology? Oh, just because
- 12:19Speaker 2: it seems like we're back twenty years ago and all
- 12:22Speaker 2: of a sudden, now are thirty years ago in technology
- 12:25Speaker 2: and we're having these kids go out in the world.
- 12:28Speaker 2: I laughed the other day I was talking to a
- 12:30Speaker 2: group of students and the students said that at they're
- 12:33Speaker 2: high school, they were still teaching them to do photography
- 12:38Speaker 2: and develop film. And You're like, for what reason that
- 12:42Speaker 2: doesn't happen anymore?
- 12:43Speaker 1: You're not going to use Is that going to be
- 12:45Speaker 1: their major when they go off? Right a career path
- 12:48Speaker 1: that they want to be on, If it's a career
- 12:49Speaker 1: path they want to be on them off for that right.
- 12:51Speaker 2: However, it's digital Now pictures are digital, and they're like
- 12:55Speaker 2: the teacher has been there and said, well, this is
- 12:56Speaker 2: how we've always done it. That was a response to students.
- 12:58Speaker 2: I'm like, we're paying that salary to someone who's literally
- 13:01Speaker 2: saying I refuse to move forward.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Yeah, And I just think that just goes to the
- 13:06Speaker 1: bigger problem of how I think education is not in
- 13:09Speaker 1: touch with the communities. It's not in touch with the
- 13:11Speaker 1: industries that we need. And that's what we need to
- 13:14Speaker 1: make sure of that we are educating our students for
- 13:18Speaker 1: you know, for their for their livelihood. What you know,
- 13:22Speaker 1: what what does industry need? What does the community need?
- 13:26Speaker 1: You'll hear most universities say that we want to make
- 13:29Speaker 1: sure we can keep students in the community when we're
- 13:32Speaker 1: when we're training them. But if you don't understand what
- 13:35Speaker 1: the community, what industry, what business needs, or what technology needs,
- 13:38Speaker 1: et cetera, you can't construct a proper curriculum to fill
- 13:43Speaker 1: you know, that need, and you'll find we won't be successful.
