- 0:00This shit ain't nothing to me, man. boxing? Yeah,
- 0:31it's time for Boxing Before Dark. What time is
- 0:37it where you're at? What time is it where I'm
- 0:42at? I don't even know. It's 1720. Oh, you and
- 0:49your army time? Well, 24 hour clock. The Japanese
- 0:53use the 24 hour clock too. Yeah, that one Japanese
- 0:58girl I didn't get along with very well tried
- 1:00to tell me that Japan invented the 24 -hour clock.
- 1:03It's going to be hard negative for me. Yeah,
- 1:06yeah. She was also surprised that I knew what
- 1:10it was because English speakers don't use it.
- 1:15Not a surprise there. Yeah, yeah. But yeah, it's
- 1:201720 here and it's not dark yet. It is 9 a .m.
- 1:27here. Oh, shit. I've been kind of avoiding this
- 1:32because the Ali act is on the ropes. Yeah, I
- 1:38haven't been able to find much actual information.
- 1:42I spent a fair bit of time that one day trying
- 1:46to find the actual wording because it's supposed
- 1:48to be out there. You're supposed to be able to
- 1:50read. You'd think so, right? um well and some
- 1:54of the articles say they went and read it and
- 1:57they've had lawyers read it and stuff but maybe
- 2:00i'm just bad at this i could not find the actual
- 2:03amendment to read so the way that honestly the
- 2:12way that i understand it and this is all secondhand
- 2:15like just like you said i can't i can't find
- 2:18the actual The actual verbiage itself. What I'm
- 2:26understanding is this is really taking the UFC
- 2:30model and putting it onto boxing. Yeah. That's
- 2:35really what I can get. So your manager can be
- 2:38your promoter, can be your whatever. You can
- 2:41have a one -person system. Yes. Which was...
- 2:46Kind of what the Ali Act was made to get rid
- 2:49of in the first place. That's the entire protection
- 2:53that it establishes. Yeah. Is that one person
- 2:57can't basically turn you into an indentured slave.
- 3:02To me, a really good example of this is Dana
- 3:07White's Contender series. So he has these random
- 3:12ass prospects come up and they get into his television
- 3:16show and they fight for him. And it's like, he's,
- 3:22he manages their careers from that point until
- 3:26they, if they graduate from the contender series,
- 3:30then they go into his like promotional objects.
- 3:36Yeah, so he has a say over everything they do
- 3:39in their career. Every step of their career is
- 3:42managed by him. There's nobody to negotiate for
- 3:46the fighters, and there's nobody to negotiate
- 3:48with in the UFC. You're negotiating with Dana
- 3:52White. That's about it. It's not, well, fuck
- 3:55you, I'll go fight with so -and -so instead.
- 3:59The boxers change promotions when they get in
- 4:02fights with their promoters. Ryan Garcia is in
- 4:06the middle of this right now. Yeah, like... And
- 4:10they can just say, well, fuck you, I'll go work
- 4:13with Bob. Or, you know, fuck you, Eddie said
- 4:15he'd pay me more. And it gives them some negotiating
- 4:20power. But, like... MMA doesn't have that. There's
- 4:25other promotional places, but nobody pays like
- 4:28the UFC, which still pays shit. Right, I was
- 4:31about to say, nobody pays like the UFC is a very
- 4:34generous term, a generous use of paying, because
- 4:39they sure as shit do not pay their fighters what
- 4:42they're worth. No, it's... I don't want to see...
- 4:46I don't think it'll work. I think that the system's
- 4:49been set up in boxing long enough. But I do think
- 4:54if they get this changed, some people are going
- 4:57to get fucked over that wouldn't have otherwise.
- 5:00There are going to be some who, my thinking is,
- 5:04it would be like using the, this is not what's
- 5:08going to happen. This is just me speculating.
- 5:10If the boxing Grand Prix that WBC is running
- 5:19with the Saudis at the moment. That, having that
- 5:24be the feeder system into TKO boxing. And so
- 5:32you have to get them while they're young, in
- 5:35a manner of speaking. And lock them in so that
- 5:39they can't go anywhere else. Yeah. That's how
- 5:42you have to do it. They're trying to introduce
- 5:45some minimum wage things with this change to
- 5:48the Ali Act. Which makes it sound good, but it's
- 5:56not worth it, in my opinion. The boxers, the
- 6:01fighters as a whole, are going to lose too much
- 6:04for these 20 ,000 minimums for televised fights
- 6:12to make any difference. Yeah. We had a good talk
- 6:17about it on boxing on the B -sides, and one of
- 6:23the points that we went over was exactly this,
- 6:26was that right now, there are already fighter
- 6:31minimums, depending on which state in the U .S.
- 6:36Yeah, other countries don't seem to have any
- 6:39minimums, though. That's unfortunate. Because
- 6:42they're going to be bigger targets for... I'm
- 6:47pretty sure Canada doesn't have a mandatory minimum.
- 6:52Some of those guys are fighting for basically
- 6:55free. And I know in South America, they always,
- 7:00especially the ladies boxing, they always talk
- 7:02about how the women actually pay to fight at
- 7:06the beginning of their career. They sell tickets.
- 7:10And they'll sell the tickets for like an extra.
- 7:12I'm making up numbers here, guys. Like, don't
- 7:15quote me on any of this. But if a ticket is 50
- 7:17bucks, they'll ask their fans to pay $52. And
- 7:21those $2 will go towards them paying the promoter
- 7:25to let them fight. Oh, my goodness. You hear
- 7:29about this stuff if you watch those like Venezuelan,
- 7:32Nicaraguan, like those kind of American. Yeah,
- 7:37and it'll be like, she's fighting for a world
- 7:39title, and at the beginning of her boxing career,
- 7:42she was selling empanadas to pay to fight where
- 7:47people would see her so she could get her career
- 7:50started, and that sort of thing. Like, when she
- 7:53was 15, she sold whatever to pay to be seen.
- 7:58Working this menial job just to get a chance.
- 8:03Yeah. That sounds a lot like what... That's not
- 8:08that dissimilar from what we see in UFC where
- 8:13guys are doing their Uber drivers or working
- 8:16other menial jobs because their minimums, the
- 8:21minimums that are established by the supposedly
- 8:25caring promotional companies, no, these guys
- 8:30can't survive off of that. To expect anything
- 8:36different from an MMA promoter who has been waiting
- 8:44his entire fucking life, like frothing at his
- 8:49mouth to get into boxing so that he could exploit
- 8:53the fighters the same way that he does in MMA.
- 8:58If you're expecting him to do something benevolent
- 9:02and take care of his dudes, you're completely...
- 9:06I don't know what to say to you. Naive, at the
- 9:10best. At best, you're naive. At worst, you're
- 9:14just like him. Yeah. Oh, God. Man, Dana White
- 9:22is... I never watched UFC. I never watched MMA
- 9:29at all before I started doing the ultimate effing
- 9:33casuals. Never, ever in my life. I just didn't
- 9:38care. It was not important to me. But as I've
- 9:44gotten to know UFC, I've gotten to know 1FC,
- 9:50PFL, and Bellator, I've gotten to know the different
- 9:54organizations that are in the MMA world. Dana
- 9:59White is a complete piece of fucking garbage.
- 10:03Yeah. He is a garbage human being. I don't know
- 10:08how much more kindly I can put it. He is a terrible
- 10:13person. Than calling him a garbage human being.
- 10:17Him moving into boxing is not going to benefit
- 10:21boxers. At all. Definitely not. He's going to
- 10:26be the next Don King if he gets in there. I would
- 10:29call that succinct. Yeah, that's what it's going
- 10:36to be. And if they remove the Ali Act, he's not
- 10:41going to get sued nearly as much as Don King.
- 10:44There will not be any guardrails that are going
- 10:47to prevent him from being the piece of shit that
- 10:50he actually is. Yeah. Oh, man. I really hope...
- 10:58It's asking a lot, but... This... The Ali Boxing
- 11:08Revival Act, as they're calling it. Which is
- 11:12just a fucking slap in the face. It really is.
- 11:15That's terrible. If you could... If you care...
- 11:22If you genuinely care about boxing... the integrity
- 11:27of the sport, which we already know is questionable
- 11:30at best. But if you really do want to protect
- 11:35it from this type of person, you genuinely have
- 11:39to call your legislators. And you have to keep
- 11:43them from allowing this type of legislation to
- 11:47pass. I'm not sure how else... How else is this
- 11:55supposed to happen? How else are we supposed
- 11:58to block something like this? Well, and I should
- 12:02have put it on the outline. I completely forgot.
- 12:04What's the boxing union? It's not a real union,
- 12:09but you know what I mean. The Fighters Association?
- 12:13Yeah. They didn't even get to read this before
- 12:17it was brought before Congress. The Fighters
- 12:20Association, like, you can say whatever you want
- 12:23about Jake Paul. I will never stop singing that
- 12:29man's praises because of stuff like the Fighters
- 12:33Association. This is as close to a union as the
- 12:37fighters have. And, man, they didn't even get
- 12:42a chance to read through the actual text of this
- 12:45before it got sent to the floor. I've seen that
- 12:49in multiple articles, like the fighters representatives
- 12:54in the association didn't even get to look at
- 12:57it. So the fighters association, I don't know
- 13:04exactly how it's set up, but somebody looked
- 13:07at it, but not the people who actually interact
- 13:11with retired fighters. So somebody in that association
- 13:15approved it, but the people who actually care
- 13:18about the fighters and the fighters in the association,
- 13:21the retired fighters in the association, didn't
- 13:24get to look at it before the association gave
- 13:27it their stamp of approval. Apparently, according
- 13:31to the articles online, somebody, well, we know
- 13:35who it is. Dana White just paid somebody to stamp
- 13:38it. Well, yeah, his BFF. is in the white house
- 13:42so yeah oh my god all things are politics dudes
- 13:48if you're if you really think that you could
- 13:51just pay attention to fights just watch the fights
- 13:54and not have to ever worry about the shit like
- 13:57man your your favorite fighters today are gonna
- 14:01be retiring soon and yeah what's gonna happen
- 14:06to them when they retire Well, and speaking about
- 14:11worrying about associations and politics, the
- 14:15JBC has taken another L since we recorded the
- 14:21last one. I think it was announced the day we
- 14:23recorded, actually. Urakawa passed as well. So
- 14:27the other fighter on that August 2nd card, he
- 14:31passed away. So that's two people died on the
- 14:35same card. This is the one that was in the eight
- 14:38-round fight. And what was their move was to
- 14:41lower the round count? Yeah, so the Japanese
- 14:47titles have been 12 round fights, I think, forever.
- 14:54And they're lowering them to 10 round fights
- 14:57now. Oh, yeah, because it wasn't an eight round
- 15:00fighter that just died. Well, he hadn't died
- 15:04when they announced that. Oh, right. That makes
- 15:07a big difference. Not at all. In other JBCL news,
- 15:15Yudai Shigeoka has announced his retirement to
- 15:20become his brother's caretaker. So he put up
- 15:24a post saying he was doing hours and hours of
- 15:27rehab with his brother. But it was a little hard
- 15:30to tell whether he was awake or not. Because
- 15:33when people are in a coma, you still have to
- 15:35rehab their muscles and things. Yeah, you have
- 15:38to move them around. Yeah. Right. But since then,
- 15:44I guess he's realized that people couldn't tell.
- 15:47He put out a very short video of him talking
- 15:49to his brother. It's framed very carefully, so
- 15:53you can't see Jinjiro at all. But... He's holding
- 15:59his brother's hand up and his brother closes
- 16:02his fist and tries to do the Hawaii thing. He
- 16:07gives mostly a thumbs up. He doesn't make any
- 16:12noises at all, which I do think probably means
- 16:16that he can't talk. His brother's talking to
- 16:19him. Yudai's talking to him, but he's just moving
- 16:22his hands in the video. I assume it's really
- 16:25bad. He's responsive. He's awake, and he's not
- 16:31100 % paralyzed, but I assume if he could even
- 16:36just sit... I don't know how to put this correctly.
- 16:40I know what I'm saying isn't right, but if he
- 16:42could sit and look mostly normal with his face,
- 16:46they would show a picture. No, that's not at
- 16:51all asking too much. I don't think it is. No,
- 16:56I just... I just mean, like, I think he's probably
- 17:00really bad off. Which is not a surprise. He had
- 17:04multiple brain surgeries. But... God. And also,
- 17:11this one I forgot to put on the outline. Jin
- 17:15Sasaki's back in training camp. Jesus Christ.
- 17:18He's gonna get hurt. That man's gonna get hurt.
- 17:21Yeah. I'm expecting he better get at least two
- 17:26soft touches, but it's Japan. He's not going
- 17:29to. They're going to throw him in there with
- 17:31another contender again. He's probably going
- 17:34to have hard sparring. Yeah. In the midst of
- 17:39whatever training camps he gets. The way that
- 17:44Josh put it on B -Sides was something about that
- 17:49culture needs to change. And I don't know how
- 17:53many more people have to die before the Japanese
- 17:56Boxing Commission figures it out. Yeah, obviously,
- 18:02like, we're not the experts on this stuff. Of
- 18:04course not. But Pro Box had an episode with Chris
- 18:09Eldieri and Pauly Malignaggi there talking about
- 18:12the JBC and the Japanese culture around boxing
- 18:15and sparring. And I thought it was a good discussion.
- 18:20They were talking something I hadn't really heard
- 18:24or knew anything about because, again, I never
- 18:26boxed. But Japan goes really old school, apparently,
- 18:33according to them. And they get you on weight
- 18:36multiple days before the weigh -in, or basically
- 18:39on weight. And they're still doing sparring while
- 18:42they're dehydrated. Yeesh. Which is not good.
- 18:47No. Hard sparring when you're already dehydrated
- 18:52does not sound like a good idea. With the smaller
- 18:56gloves and probably no headgear of any kind.
- 19:02Yeah. I don't know. I am just waiting to hear
- 19:07or see that Jin Sasaki ends up in the hospital
- 19:10after his next fight. Because they're not going
- 19:13to give him a soft touch. He's going to train
- 19:15the same way he always has. I love Japanese boxing,
- 19:20but something's fucked. It's broken and you need
- 19:24to fix it. There's something very clearly wrong.
- 19:26Josh put it perfectly with this is a cultural
- 19:30problem. Yeah. The warrior spirit is commendable.
- 19:40It really is. And I don't think... It's impossible
- 19:45to maintain that warrior spirit with cutting
- 19:51down on the hard sparring. There was a 1FC situation
- 19:58where a Thai fighter versus a Japanese. It was
- 20:04a kickboxing fight. And the Thai fighter had
- 20:10a lingering injury. from fucking sparring coming
- 20:15into a fight. Like, I do not think that this
- 20:19is too dissimilar from just regular boxing. I
- 20:24do. I have not very much basis to base this on,
- 20:29but I do think the JBC ignores injuries more.
- 20:35Like, I think they let people back into fights,
- 20:38hard fights. right away when they probably should.
- 20:44Well, we can't let the world... I am waving my
- 20:48hands in really thick quotation marks or thick
- 20:51irony. We can't let the world think that we're
- 20:55pussies. Yeah. Is what it is. Oh, man. How many
- 21:03more people have to die before you figure out
- 21:06that you need to fucking change something? Well,
- 21:09that's four people this year. This year, let
- 21:15alone... So two died, but I mean, that's four
- 21:18people whose lives are probably fucked. They're
- 21:21never boxing again. Right now, Jin Sasaki...
- 21:23Well, right now, Jin Sasaki is. But I'm not thinking
- 21:29this is going to go well for him. I'm very pessimistic
- 21:32on his... As am I. Everything. Just based on
- 21:36the track record. I am not betting that he's
- 21:39going to be doing very well. But I do have a
- 21:44funny Japanese boxing thing to throw in here
- 21:47to lighten the mood just a little. So I think
- 21:50I mentioned last week that Seiya Satsumi is in
- 21:54Mexico. And he's been live streaming his walk
- 21:58to the gym every morning. is right before bed
- 22:01for me. So I've been jumping on and watching
- 22:03his live stream. He cannot figure out the fucking
- 22:06coffee machine at a Mexican convenience store.
- 22:10It has been so hilarious. So the very first day
- 22:14it made sense. It's one of those ones where you
- 22:16press the button and you put the cup underneath
- 22:18and it comes down and he lined it up with the
- 22:21little half circle. He lined the cup, pushed
- 22:24it all the way in and the coffee completely missed
- 22:27the cup. That one's perfectly understandable.
- 22:30And he freaked out, like moved it. And it was
- 22:32really funny. The next day he came in the convenience
- 22:37store and he was talking about buying a monster
- 22:39energy drink instead. And the chat's like, no,
- 22:42you have to use the machine. So he puts it against
- 22:45the backstop, pulls it ahead a bit. but not far
- 22:49enough and still misses his coffee all over the
- 22:53outside of his cup. And he's holding his phone,
- 22:56freaking out, trying to get it, gets it all over
- 22:58his hands. He pays for his coffee and he's walking
- 23:01down the street with his coffee stained cup.
- 23:04And like his hand was red, like it's hot coffee.
- 23:07He got fucking burned. The next morning, he walks
- 23:13in and the chat's just losing their mind. They're
- 23:16like, you can do it. Today's the day. I believe
- 23:19in you. And he goes, and he's like, okay, so
- 23:30I got to put it right at the front. Right at
- 23:33the front. And he's so worried about that, that
- 23:35when he goes to press the button, he knocks the
- 23:38cup over. hadn't pressed the button yet so this
- 23:42time he got his coffee but it's just like you
- 23:46can tell he's like i can't fuck it up this time
- 23:48there's i think it was 130 people watching him
- 23:52make his coffee the steaks are too great i can't
- 23:56put it i can't i can't let my coffee spill this
- 24:00time yeah so he did he didn't spill any coffee
- 24:03but he did knock the cup over once and then everybody's
- 24:07like is it delicious and he's like no This is
- 24:10not good coffee. Not worth all the effort. Three
- 24:13days of effort that I put into getting this.
- 24:17Not worth it at all. It's been absolutely hilarious
- 24:22to me. You know what's not absolutely hilarious?
- 24:30Tank. Gervonta Davis. All charges dropped. Yeah,
- 24:37I wonder how that happened. I wonder that as
- 24:41well. Yeah. I guess... I hope she got paid well.
- 24:51I hope perhaps he doesn't go near his kid anytime
- 24:56soon, but he probably will. His very, very gay
- 24:59child. Who is a toddler that probably can't talk.
- 25:04Has no understanding of any of this whatsoever.
- 25:10Tank needs to get his shit together. Yeah, it's...
- 25:15Maybe we get the Rotary match now, though? Maybe.
- 25:21Maybe that can happen now. Yeah. Speaking of
- 25:29babies... Dillion White. The Baby Snatcher. I
- 25:39laughed so fucking hard when I saw this. And
- 25:43every interview since, it's just been, Dillion,
- 25:46what do you think of that? What do you think
- 25:49of being called the Baby Snatcher? Like, of all
- 25:56the ways to mess up a nickname, I guess I can
- 25:59kind of see it. Body snatcher to baby snatcher
- 26:04is pretty easy. It isn't easy. But for a professional
- 26:10journalist, I would expect better. Yeah. So I
- 26:19did see one interview where Dillion was like,
- 26:23oh, they did it on purpose just to mess with
- 26:25me. It's all mind games. He's like, they rerouted
- 26:29some of my team. their um plane got lost or something
- 26:34or their plane tickets got changed so they had
- 26:37like a six hour layover i don't know what the
- 26:41hell he's talking about but the baby snatcher
- 26:45is going to stick so long the baby snatcher if
- 26:53i if i had the chance to talk to him like even
- 26:57it it's um One of the things that you have to
- 27:02think about is when you're doing this, like the
- 27:05floor for boxing, to get into like boxing media,
- 27:11boxing journalism, the floor is pretty low. Yeah.
- 27:16So it is possible that we could get somebody
- 27:21into Dillian White's vicinity to ask him about
- 27:26baby snatching. We need to send Robbie. We could
- 27:32send somebody. This is not out of the realm of
- 27:37possibility. It's not that I haven't, that we,
- 27:44Lux Media, it's not that we don't have access
- 27:48to these things, it's that we don't have personnel
- 27:50to go to them. Yeah. That's really what it comes
- 27:54down to. Well, and in my case, I... I'm too nervous
- 28:00trying to talk to people. Yeah, trying to get
- 28:03yourself ingratiated with a Japanese as a foreigner
- 28:06is not easy. I've had several attempts in my
- 28:12life and usually didn't go well. No, they're
- 28:17very polite. Overly polite. in my opinion but
- 28:23well i'm canadian so actually a lot of these
- 28:26oh it's so japanese and foreigners would never
- 28:28get it i'm like we do that too guys like people
- 28:31don't say no to things like oh yeah maybe i'll
- 28:36see if i can come that's just a no like i i don't
- 28:42think the politeness is as strange as japan thinks
- 28:46it is but they just assume that you can't get
- 28:49it because you're foreign And I'm like, you guys
- 28:54don't get sarcasm. True. That's actually completely
- 28:58true. Which ruins like 90 % of my communication
- 29:03with my friends. I have had to really think about,
- 29:06like, they don't understand tone changes change
- 29:11the meaning of words in English. That's so interesting.
- 29:17Yeah. They don't get that? No, like you can make
- 29:21it as obvious as possible. How obvious could
- 29:25it possibly be? Yeah, yeah. Like somebody was
- 29:28like, oh, Benita, do you want to try these shrimp
- 29:31crackers? And I don't eat seafood at all. And
- 29:34I was like, oh, yeah, that sounds fucking delicious.
- 29:37They bought me shrimp crackers. I was like, God
- 29:39damn it. It's not what I meant. So then I had
- 29:45to try them and I was like, no, still tastes
- 29:47like shrimp. What was the expected outcome here,
- 29:51guys? But I'd had a couple beers, and I just
- 29:55forgot I was talking to people who don't understand.
- 29:58Yeah. It's my fault, but... Oh, shit. Anything
- 30:07more for the news? Probox is on right now, and
- 30:12I forget who... pro box good but somebody blew
- 30:15weight by seven pounds i forget who that is obscene
- 30:19yo yeah pro box is good so let's uh let's keep
- 30:25ourselves rolling here so we can get the hell
- 30:27out of here um really quickly let me put some
- 30:29fucking notes in here uh lvx media net that's
- 30:33the social media handle everywhere if you cannot
- 30:36find it chances are it's because we're not on

- 30:46rating, 833 -589 -7637. That's my fucking phone

- 30:58is it not a five -star rating? And let me know.

- 35:26We have previews this week, Leo. We do. We don't
- 35:29have any recamps, but we have some previews.
- 35:33So let's get right into it. Wednesday, August
- 35:3720th. In the U .S., this will be starting around
- 35:42midnight, 01 timeframe. If you're in Japan, probably
- 35:50like 16 or 1700. But we have a bunch of shit
- 35:58that I don't really care about. Moving to Jasmine
- 36:02Parr, jazzy, decent prospect on the ladies' side.
- 36:07So if you want to get yourself more well -versed
- 36:11in the women's part of the sport. Brock Jarvis,
- 36:15that same Brock Jarvis who fought Keith Thurman
- 36:20versus Sam Beck. This is really fucked up. Brock
- 36:25Jarvis is 22 -2 versus Sam Beck, 7 -0. Throwing
- 36:30the young man to the wolves. He's not that young,
- 36:33though. He's 30. 30. The low experience, I guess.
- 36:42Yeah. Moving up into the co -main, Michael Zarafa.
- 36:50That Michael Zarafa. If you've been watching,
- 36:54he's been on like some PBC cards like a handful
- 36:59of times. And if you've been paying attention
- 37:03to Australian boxing, which if you listen to
- 37:06us, then you are familiar with this name. He'll
- 37:11be fighting Mikey Dahlman. From America. Oh,
- 37:19he's got to get himself international again.
- 37:23I actually don't know who Mikey Dolman is. I
- 37:25don't either, but... Nikita Zoo and the headline
- 37:30verse, Lulzim Ismaili. Right now... From Macedonia.
- 37:39Oh, well. Right now, this is the better of the
- 37:45Zoo Brothers. Unfortunately, for Tim. This is
- 37:53the hope for the Zoo Clan. Yeah. I hope it goes
- 37:59well. I can't... I don't know. I assume this
- 38:03guy was kind of brought in to lose. You would
- 38:06think. I would think as well. But you never know,
- 38:13I guess. Has he fought outside of Macedonia?
- 38:20Germany? Albania, Germany. A lot of Germany fights.
- 38:27Okay. So he's Euro level. No big deal. Still,
- 38:36I expect Nikita to take care of business. But
- 38:45it's always good to watch the Australian fights.
- 38:49At least for me, they're at a time I can watch
- 38:51during the week. Yeah, they should be on your
- 38:54Wednesday evening. Yeah. Let's move on to Friday,
- 39:01August 22nd in the U .S. Oh, actually, Leo, can
- 39:06I step back real quick? Go ahead. Tuesday, August
- 39:0919th, Aoi Yokoyama is fighting. Oh, shit. I have
- 39:15a ticket. I forget who his opponent is, but it
- 39:20is for some sort of trinket belt. I just need
- 39:24to look it up real quick. Very nice. The Oriental
- 39:28Pacific... Yeah. OPBF what? Superfly. Oh, shit.
- 39:39So he's going for a legit regional title. Yeah.
- 39:46against rusey baba who doesn't seem to have a
- 39:54pitcher on box rec so also seems pretty prospecty
- 40:00uh four and two but i bought a ticket i think
- 40:04it should be fun i'm uh i'm excited So this is
- 40:12Yokoyama's fourth fight. Going for a regional
- 40:15belt in four fights is pretty Japanese, but pretty
- 40:19good. Is it going to be on any streaming services
- 40:23in JP? Probably Lemino, I think. This is the
- 40:29one that is like a triple promotion. It's Watanabe,
- 40:34The Kamedas, and someone else. The Kamedas? Yeah,
- 40:41that 360 lush thing. Yokoyama's with Watanabe.
- 40:48He's not with the Kamedas. Anyways, I'm excited.
- 40:53It's his first time headlining. The old folks
- 40:57home did a really cute video, a cheer video for
- 41:00him. I missed out on the merchandise. I ordered
- 41:03my ticket too late, but I'm hoping they're selling
- 41:05something at the place. I'm sure they will be.
- 41:09Yeah. Second batch. All right. Friday, August
- 41:1522nd. It's the MVP Prospects. Most Valuable Prospects
- 41:22series. I think this is their 14th iteration.
- 41:32I don't think I've... recognize any of those
- 41:35names. Yeah, it's Prospects. Not anybody really
- 41:39to recognize. Queensberry on the 23rd. This will
- 41:47be about midday on the west coast of the US at
- 41:51the Planet Ice in Altrincham. Fucking Mark Chamberlain.
- 42:00The only reason I brought this guy up is because
- 42:02Eddie Hearn has highlighted him a few times.
- 42:08And he's one of his fuckselency's favorites.
- 42:15I do recognize Rafferty. Yeah, Jack Rafferty.
- 42:20I recognize this picture. And last thing. MVP
- 42:29fight night at the Caribe Royale Orlando in the
- 42:35U .S. There's some good fights on here, even
- 42:40if you don't know the main or co -main. Lucas
- 42:42Body is a pretty decent name for Roger Gutierrez.
- 42:49Jermaine Ortiz versus Steve Claggett should be
- 42:53a good win for Jermaine Ortiz. Yeah, I mean,
- 42:59technically, I have to cheer for Claygett. He's
- 43:03from Calgary. Yeah, he's homegrown for you. Yeah,
- 43:09and actually, like, the same part of Canada as
- 43:12me, so... There is one thing. In the main and
- 43:25co -main... The way that I put it on B -Sides
- 43:29was, like, this is islander Spanish for those
- 43:38Caribbean islanders. This dude's name is Yanquiel.
- 43:45And then the main event, Yoenis. And if we jump
- 43:52back really quick to the... mvp the prospect
- 43:56series the co -main event there his name is yo
- 44:00elvis yo elvis i thought was pretty hilarious
- 44:04actually so that there you go that's that's some
- 44:07islander spanish for you like i i don't know
- 44:10i i don't know that's cuban right they're all
- 44:15cuban not necessarily it could be uh dominican
- 44:18um Most likely Cuban, but it's possible that
- 44:24they're like Dominican, Dominica. It's not a
- 44:31guarantee that they're Cuban. Oh, Yanquiel's
- 44:35from Puerto Rico. I didn't want to mention them.
- 44:38I thought they did better than that. I was just
- 44:43looking on BoxRec. The other two are Cuban, but
- 44:45he's from Puerto Rico. Well, there you have it.
- 44:53That's all we got. Something to watch, anyway.
- 44:59Yeah, there is boxing on. Not necessarily the
- 45:05greatest, but of all of the stuff that we previewed,
- 45:11I would have to say Nikita Zu is the one that
- 45:17has my attention. More than anyone else. I do
- 45:24expect that to be very lopsided, though. Yes.
- 45:27Like, I don't know if it'll be a super entertaining
- 45:30fight. I would like to see Nikita Zu tested a
- 45:35little bit. Or to have a little bit of a challenge.
- 45:37Because he's still really young. Or he's still
- 45:40really young in his career. So, I'd like to see
- 45:44him have something of a challenge. I think for
- 45:48fun -to -watch fights, that last one, the MVP
- 45:52fight night, or whatever they call it, will probably
- 45:55have the closest matchups. Yeah, the top four
- 46:00on there are worth watching. If you have other
- 46:04things to do with your time, please don't think
- 46:08you're missing out on shit. Don't skip family
- 46:11supper this week. Right, if you've got family
- 46:14stuff for just... your friends want to go out
- 46:17or whatever like dude go do that all right yeah
- 46:21but we have no friends so we'll watch it and
- 46:24tell you about it we're the friends are on the
- 46:26podcast if they're not on if they're not here
- 46:30they're on b -sides uh they're on ultimate effing
- 46:34casuals like i i all i have is fight nerds that's
- 46:40all i got IRL friends are overrated. All right,
- 46:50let me do this. You've been listening to Boxing

- 48:09weekend. Parting words. I always forget to plan
- 48:20parting words. I don't know. I'm going to keep
- 48:22it simple this week. Just stay frosty. Stay frosty.
- 48:27Yeah. It's hard this time of year. That is a
- 48:31full -time job for me, staying frosty. If your
- 48:34brother has post -comatose... situations then
- 48:42be there to do hang loose with him I do think
- 48:48that's that's not surprising or anything but
- 48:52I do think that's a very good thing for Yudai
- 48:57to do it is it's a really noble thing for him
- 49:01to do yeah like he he has relatives other than
- 49:07Yudai that could become the primary caretaker.
- 49:11He didn't have to do that for him. Let me see.
- 49:16I'm going to throw one out by Maya Angelou just
- 49:18to give something substantial. You are the sum
- 49:23total of everything you've ever seen, heard,
- 49:26eaten, smelled, been told, or forgot. It's all
- 49:30there. Everything influences each of us. And
- 49:34because of that, I try to make sure that my experiences
- 49:37are positive. That's Maya Angelou. I'm not that
- 49:44smart. Sorry. Surprising no one. To the surprise
- 49:50of fucking nobody. But there you go. We opened
- 49:54up with cat shit and we end with Maya Angelou.
- 49:57Yeah. What can I say? Alright, that's it. Boxing
- 50:03Before Dark. See you on the other side. Bye.
