- 0:01Speaker 1: Pete Edseth. He is a Defense secretary. He has arrived
- 0:04Speaker 1: in Puerto Rico amid the US Venezuela tensions that are
- 0:08Speaker 1: continuing to rise. This is an important visit because it
- 0:13Speaker 1: was unannounced and not only was the US Defense Secretary there,
- 0:18Speaker 1: but the Joint Chiefs Chairman, General Caine also was on
- 0:22Speaker 1: the trip. It was an unannounced visit, an unplanned visit
- 0:25Speaker 1: for the public to Puerto Rico, as the US has
- 0:29Speaker 1: ramped up military activities in the Caribbean aimed at drug
- 0:32Speaker 1: trafficking networks. They met officials at the one hundred and
- 0:36Speaker 1: fifty six Wing Air National Guard Base.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Head.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Seth addressed roughly three hundred service members while he was there.
- 0:44Speaker 1: And the question you may be asking yourself is this
- 0:46Speaker 1: why now? Well, it's pretty simple. The trip follows a
- 0:51Speaker 1: September the second US military strike in the Southern Caribbean
- 0:55Speaker 1: that sank a vessel departing Venezuela, with US officials saying
- 0:58Speaker 1: eleven suspected members the trend de Ragua Cartel.
- 1:02Speaker 2: They are also a terrorist organization. We're all killed.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Some regional leaders backed the action, others urged more transparency.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Venezuela also deny the US allegations and criticized the operation,
- 1:16Speaker 1: and that's exactly what should be expected. So now the
- 1:19Speaker 1: question is why is the Pentagon weighing Puerto Rico as
- 1:23Speaker 1: a hub or is this more about expanding counternarcotis operations
- 1:28Speaker 1: all together? Now we also know that plans include deploying
- 1:32Speaker 1: ten F thirty five fighter jets the island and conducting
- 1:35Speaker 1: military flights out of Puerto Rico. An unusually large cluster
- 1:40Speaker 1: of US warships, about eight is already operating in the
- 1:43Speaker 1: region as well.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Marines are also on the island.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Elements of the twenty second Marine Unit are in Puerto
- 1:51Speaker 1: Rico for amphibious and flight training. We've been told Puerto
- 1:55Speaker 1: Rico's governor estimated at thousand marines on the island, and
- 1:59Speaker 1: the guards said as the training was pre planned and
- 2:02Speaker 1: quote not tied to the new maritime force. CBS News
- 2:07Speaker 1: had it this way on the unplanned visit and what
- 2:10Speaker 1: it could mean.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint
- 2:13Speaker 3: Chiefs Dan Caine arrived in Puerto Rico this morning as
- 2:16Speaker 3: tension continues to build between the United States and Venezuela.
- 2:21Speaker 3: They were welcome there by Puerto Rico Governor Jennifer Gonzalez,
- 2:24Speaker 3: who said on in part on X, we thank President
- 2:27Speaker 3: Trump and his administration for recognizing the strategic value Puerto
- 2:31Speaker 3: Rico has to the national security of the United States
- 2:35Speaker 3: and the fight against direct cartels in our hemisphere perpetuated
- 2:38Speaker 3: by Narco dictator Nicholas Maduro. For more on this, I
- 2:42Speaker 3: want to bring in John Burns. He is the strategic
- 2:44Speaker 3: director for Concerned Veterans for America after serving more than
- 2:48Speaker 3: twenty two years in the Marine Corps and the Army
- 2:51Speaker 3: National Guard. Thank you very much for joining us. What
- 2:54Speaker 3: does this arrival here of Hexeth and Kane to Puerto
- 2:57Speaker 3: Rico's signal to you?
- 2:58Speaker 4: Well, thank you Nancy for having me on. I think
- 3:00Speaker 4: there's a lot of signals there. One of the key
- 3:02Speaker 4: takeaways for me, aside from just the situation with Venezuela
- 3:05Speaker 4: and the drug situation in the Caribbean, is the National
- 3:08Speaker 4: Defense Strategy, which a little overdue, is said to be
- 3:10Speaker 4: released within the next seven to ten days, and early
- 3:13Speaker 4: reporting indicates that there's a large pivot towards defense of
- 3:17Speaker 4: the American hemisphere and away from heavily being heavily engaged
- 3:21Speaker 4: in other parts of the world Europe. I think there's
- 3:23Speaker 4: probably still going to be an emphasis to a degree
- 3:26Speaker 4: on the Indo Pacific, maybe not as much as we thought,
- 3:28Speaker 4: but this is the key role that our Department of Defense,
- 3:31Speaker 4: Department of War should be playing. Our primary interest is
- 3:35Speaker 4: securing our hemisphere and our homeland.
- 3:38Speaker 5: John.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Of course, this arrival, this trip comes with the backdrop
- 3:41Speaker 3: of the United States to point eight warships and fighter
- 3:43Speaker 3: jets into that area, in addition to a massing troops
- 3:46Speaker 3: off Puerto Rico. If this is a war on drugs,
- 3:50Speaker 3: what kind of guardrails, if any, exists for the president
- 3:53Speaker 3: to send troops into Venezuela.
- 3:55Speaker 4: Well, the President has said that he doesn't want to
- 3:58Speaker 4: sit or he's not considering this a regime change mission,
- 4:00Speaker 4: which I think was very very encouraging.
- 4:02Speaker 2: That's right.
- 4:03Speaker 1: As much as the media tries to lie to you
- 4:05Speaker 1: and tell you that the president's going for regime change,
- 4:08Speaker 1: that is not what this is about at all. This
- 4:10Speaker 1: is all about fighting narco terrorism. And yes, they are
- 4:13Speaker 1: terrorists that are killing Americans. So you may ask yourself
- 4:16Speaker 1: this question, why Puerto Rico, Why would you choose this
- 4:20Speaker 1: for this counter cartel operation. Well, it's pretty simple geography.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Island sit inside the
- 4:29Speaker 1: Caribbean Transit Zone, historically a gateway for cocaine, fetnol and
- 4:33Speaker 1: other drugs headed to the mainland USA. That strategic position
- 4:39Speaker 1: plus US sovereignty eases the basing, the logistics, and also
- 4:44Speaker 1: the prosecutions of those that are caught alive. And then
- 4:48Speaker 1: you just have access and response times from a military standpoint.
- 4:53Speaker 1: From Puerto Rico, aircraft and ships can quickly reach the
- 4:58Speaker 1: Mona Passage, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico Corridor, and the
- 5:02Speaker 1: sea lanes north of Venezuela, improving time to intercept for
- 5:07Speaker 1: go fast boats and motherships. This builds on the intricacies
- 5:12Speaker 1: and the model that has been used by the Coast
- 5:14Speaker 1: Guard there for years as well. What is this all
- 5:18Speaker 1: really about. It's about setting a clear message at the
- 5:21Speaker 1: present is going on offense that the literal war on
- 5:25Speaker 1: cartels has just begun. And this is part of where
- 5:30Speaker 1: Puerto Rico also comes in. You have additional air and
- 5:34Speaker 1: maritime assets in Puerto Rico. This will help with surveillance
- 5:38Speaker 1: and interaction coverage over the choke points where trafckers are
- 5:42Speaker 1: most vulnerable at sea. The coastguards layered approach, as it
- 5:47Speaker 1: was described by the White House, will have large cutters,
- 5:50Speaker 1: aircraft and partner forces and all the benefits of the
- 5:55Speaker 1: DoD platforms and their increased presence combined. So it's pretty simple.
- 6:01Speaker 1: The President United States of America is saying, we are
- 6:05Speaker 1: going all in and we're going to do this with
- 6:08Speaker 1: all of the technology and the forces that America has. Now,
- 6:12Speaker 1: the other question is what's going to happen next. What
- 6:15Speaker 1: should you be looking for? Well, let me go through
- 6:17Speaker 1: that for you, because there's one big aspect of this
- 6:20Speaker 1: it's going to matter a lot, and that is whether
- 6:22Speaker 1: the F thirty five deployment is confirmed and then where
- 6:26Speaker 1: are they based. This is going to have a huge
- 6:30Speaker 1: impact on the assets that are tied to whatever the
- 6:33Speaker 1: mission is has been declared or set by the administration. Yes,
- 6:37Speaker 1: there are questions that are being asked by the left
- 6:39Speaker 1: about congressional oversight of legal authorities and targeting rules for
- 6:43Speaker 1: future strikes, but the President United States of America feels
- 6:46Speaker 1: like he is on strong legal footing because he has
- 6:50Speaker 1: declared them terrorists organizations. And then there's the integration with
- 6:55Speaker 1: the Coast Guard and also the Navy ships. The regional
- 6:59Speaker 1: cooperation levels between these two organizations will clearly be noticeable overall. Now,
- 7:06Speaker 1: if you look at what the President has said, the
- 7:09Speaker 1: President has said, it is very possible that we will
- 7:12Speaker 1: be hitting terras wherever they are. Does that mean we
- 7:15Speaker 1: can be hitting terris in Venezuela, Yes, there is a
- 7:19Speaker 1: chance of that. Is this about regime change. No, The
- 7:22Speaker 1: same thing can go for Mexico. As the President made
- 7:25Speaker 1: it clear last week, that we have an obligation and
- 7:29Speaker 1: a moral duty to make sure that Americans are not
- 7:32Speaker 1: being killed with the fetnyl and other drugs coming across
- 7:35Speaker 1: our southern border. So this is the President paying off
- 7:39Speaker 1: on a campaign promise. It's also clearly the beginning of
- 7:44Speaker 1: the war, not the end of the war for the
- 7:48Speaker 1: president of the United States of America. When it comes
- 7:50Speaker 1: to the cartels, the presidents said that they are a
- 7:54Speaker 1: very very dangerous organization and we must stop them.
- 8:00Speaker 2: And that is exactly where we are right now.
- 8:03Speaker 1: I want to talk to you about my friends at
- 8:05Speaker 1: kirk Elliott Precious Metals. Two days ago I got my
- 8:10Speaker 1: new order of silver. Now I'm investing in silver right
- 8:13Speaker 1: now because the pricing on it is amazing and the
- 8:16Speaker 1: upside well, it's real. I actually have a one hundred
- 8:20Speaker 1: ounce silver bar. It is actually really cool. It's really
- 8:25Speaker 1: heavy because it's one hundred ounces. But I also know
- 8:28Speaker 1: that I bought it at the right price and I
- 8:31Speaker 1: wasn't paying massive up charges on quote. Rare are special coins,
- 8:36Speaker 1: and then when you go to sell them, you take
- 8:38Speaker 1: away all of your earning potential. Why do they do
- 8:41Speaker 1: it this way at Kurt Elliott Because they have transparent
- 8:44Speaker 1: pricing up front. It's very simple. You pay eight percent
- 8:48Speaker 1: when you buy, and here's what matters to you the most,
- 8:52Speaker 1: nothing when you sell. There are no hidden fees ever
- 8:56Speaker 1: with Kurt Elliott Precious Metals. This is the reason I
- 9:00Speaker 1: recommend them. It's not just about investing, it's about making
- 9:05Speaker 1: sure you get more for your money. And that is
- 9:07Speaker 1: exactly why Kurt Elliott helps people all the time. Whether
- 9:11Speaker 1: it's gold or silver, you can hold it, be a
- 9:14Speaker 1: good steward of it, you can pass it on to
- 9:16Speaker 1: future generations, and you can build wealth with it. It's real, bullyon,
- 9:21Speaker 1: never gimmicks, just investment grade gold and silver, No overpriced coins,
- 9:27Speaker 1: no flashy markups and It's a company that I love
- 9:31Speaker 1: because they are a faith driven company. There's no pressure,
- 9:35Speaker 1: just honest care. They treat every client like family, offering
- 9:39Speaker 1: honest answers up front to help you make wise informed decisions.
- 9:44Speaker 6: Now.
- 9:44Speaker 1: If you're seeking a partner when it comes to gold
- 9:48Speaker 1: and silver with an eternity mindset, visit ke PM dot
- 9:54Speaker 1: com slash ben. That's k e PM dot com slash ben.
- 10:00Speaker 1: You can also call them seven two zero six oh
- 10:03Speaker 1: five thirty nine hundred. That's seven two zero six oh
- 10:07Speaker 1: five thirty nine hundred. So let's faithfully steward what God
- 10:11Speaker 1: has given so you can experience real peace now and
- 10:15Speaker 1: for generations to come.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Kepm dot com slash ben. Every once in a.
- 10:21Speaker 1: While you get to have a really fun conversation with
- 10:23Speaker 1: someone that does something that's incredibly cool.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Uh, and today is one of those days.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Sunny Williams is a name you may not remember as
- 10:31Speaker 1: I say it, but when I remind you of who
- 10:33Speaker 1: Sonny is, You're gonna be like, oh, yeah, how would
- 10:37Speaker 1: you like to be in the US Navy? Be a captain,
- 10:39Speaker 1: then retire and then be like all right, I'm not done.
- 10:41Speaker 1: I'm just gonna like, you know, become a NASA astronaut.
- 10:44Speaker 1: That is exactly what happened to Sunny Williams. And you
- 10:47Speaker 1: may remember she just spent a really long time in
- 10:50Speaker 1: out of space, like twice as long as she was
- 10:52Speaker 1: supposed to be there. Sonny, I appreciate you coming on,
- 10:55Speaker 1: and there is so much to talk about. I gotta
- 10:58Speaker 1: ask you first, though, when you were in space mentally
- 11:01Speaker 1: in this last trip, you had a mindset, Hey, I'm
- 11:03Speaker 1: going to be there. I think it was what four
- 11:05Speaker 1: to five months?
- 11:05Speaker 2: Is that right?
- 11:07Speaker 7: Actually, when we first launched space, we're telling us it
- 11:11Speaker 7: will be eight to ten days, but we knew we'd
- 11:13Speaker 7: be there for a couple months, but didn't really anticipate
- 11:16Speaker 7: nine months.
- 11:17Speaker 1: So what is it like to recalibrate in your mind
- 11:20Speaker 1: like you've you've done training. I don't know if there's
- 11:23Speaker 1: any training that can prepare you for eight or nine
- 11:25Speaker 1: days turning into a couple of weeks, maybe a couple months,
- 11:27Speaker 1: and then like, oh, yeah, it's going to be the
- 11:29Speaker 1: majority of a year.
- 11:32Speaker 7: Yeah, Ben, it's a great question, and you know, hopefully
- 11:35Speaker 7: you know. Butch and I have provided a little bit
- 11:39Speaker 7: of a roadmap for other astronauts as well as Frank Rubio,
- 11:43Speaker 7: who before us actually spent an unexpected year in space,
- 11:47Speaker 7: translating from six months. So I think it's just a
- 11:51Speaker 7: matter of, you know, a mindset change. Okay, you know,
- 11:54Speaker 7: this is what we trained for us, what we have
- 11:56Speaker 7: you know, done in the past in our time here
- 11:59Speaker 7: at NASA, and we can continue on.
- 12:02Speaker 8: Now.
- 12:02Speaker 7: I'm not going to say all my clothes were there
- 12:05Speaker 7: and I had to borrow a couple pairs of shorts
- 12:06Speaker 7: from a friend. But that's what we do. We help
- 12:08Speaker 7: each other out when we're up there, and they were
- 12:11Speaker 7: the folks on Crew eight were gracious enough to give
- 12:13Speaker 7: us some of the really goodies of the food to
- 12:16Speaker 7: make our stay great. And you know, that's what we do,
- 12:18Speaker 7: we work together.
- 12:20Speaker 2: How many people were up there when you're there for
- 12:22Speaker 2: that nine months?
- 12:23Speaker 7: Oh so it gets confusing, So I'm going to have
- 12:25Speaker 7: to think about it for a second. So when we
- 12:27Speaker 7: were up there, when we first got there, there was
- 12:29Speaker 7: three soy US crew members and four SpaceX Dragon members,
- 12:32Speaker 7: so seven, eight, nine, nine of us all together. Then
- 12:36Speaker 7: we had at one point in time a second SOYUZ up,
- 12:39Speaker 7: so that was twelve and then they left and so
- 12:42Speaker 7: that was nine again. And then then we had another
- 12:44Speaker 7: dragon come up with two, so that was back down
- 12:48Speaker 7: to oh gosh, now I'm getting confused, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, eleven.
- 12:53Speaker 7: So it was it was a little bit of a
- 12:55Speaker 7: revolving door, which is great because you see new crew
- 12:57Speaker 7: members periodically as these spacecraft trains out. But it was
- 13:02Speaker 7: a little bit sad to see people who you thought
- 13:05Speaker 7: you'd be on the ground first them leave and then
- 13:08Speaker 7: us leave later. So not necessarily sad, I shouldn't say
- 13:12Speaker 7: it that way. It was just a little bit different
- 13:14Speaker 7: plan than we had originally anticipated.
- 13:18Speaker 1: So when you think about the plan and you're like,
- 13:20Speaker 1: all right, I'm seeing people that are now coming and going.
- 13:22Speaker 1: There was a lot of politics involved back on Earth
- 13:25Speaker 1: of who's supposed to pick you up? And then there's
- 13:28Speaker 1: contingency plans of like who's going to come in essence
- 13:31Speaker 1: rescue you guys. But you're seeing others leave. How hard
- 13:35Speaker 1: was it mentally to just stay locked in in that
- 13:37Speaker 1: scenario because I'm assuming you didn't want to get involved
- 13:40Speaker 1: in the in the politics, But the reality is when
- 13:42Speaker 1: I if I sell someone leave, dude, I really want
- 13:44Speaker 1: to be on that I want to get out of here.
- 13:47Speaker 7: So you know, there's there's a couple aspects of that.
- 13:49Speaker 7: You know, there was a lot of really cool things
- 13:51Speaker 7: that are going on in the space station. So for me,
- 13:54Speaker 7: I honestly didn't mind being up there for an extended duration,
- 13:58Speaker 7: like a normal duration, long duration mission, because there's all
- 14:01Speaker 7: sorts of cool science to do. There's fun maintenance to do,
- 14:03Speaker 7: I like, you know, using tools, and there's you know,
- 14:06Speaker 7: spacewalks occurred also while we're up there, so all that's
- 14:09Speaker 7: pretty great. So having those opportunities was fine. Absolutely didn't
- 14:14Speaker 7: want to get in the politics of it all, but
- 14:16Speaker 7: absolutely wanted a good ride home. You know, we were
- 14:20Speaker 7: up there with Starliner for a while as our lifeboat,
- 14:23Speaker 7: and it's you know, obviously we all know now that
- 14:26Speaker 7: you know, the thrusters weren't working as advertised, and you know,
- 14:30Speaker 7: if you're not one hundred percent sure if that's the
- 14:33Speaker 7: you know that everything was going to work, why risk
- 14:35Speaker 7: your life coming home in that when you potentially have
- 14:37Speaker 7: another ride. I think another you know, compromised way to
- 14:41Speaker 7: get home beside for Starliner was on Dragon initially because
- 14:44Speaker 7: we didn't have dedicated seats. I think the happiest day
- 14:48Speaker 7: of my time up there was when Crew nine showed
- 14:51Speaker 7: up with two empty seats and two dedicated space suits
- 14:53Speaker 7: for us, and then we knew we really had the
- 14:55Speaker 7: right combination to get home in an emergency, because you know,
- 15:00Speaker 7: these spacecraft are our lifeboat in case anything happens to
- 15:02Speaker 7: the International Space Station. So you know, that day was great.
- 15:06Speaker 7: So you know, I was happy to wait for a
- 15:08Speaker 7: proper seat to re enter into the atmosphere. It's no joke.
- 15:11Speaker 7: When you're coming into the atmosphere and you know around
- 15:14Speaker 7: the capsules, you know, thousands of degrees, you want to
- 15:16Speaker 7: make sure that you're in the right place at the
- 15:18Speaker 7: right time and have the right ride home.
- 15:21Speaker 2: What was the toll on your body?
- 15:23Speaker 1: I mean, nine months in outer space with weightlessness, I'm
- 15:27Speaker 1: assuming that was really weird when you got back to
- 15:30Speaker 1: Earth having to try to figure out just how to
- 15:32Speaker 1: walk and get out of everything and get back to normal.
- 15:34Speaker 2: How long did that take?
- 15:35Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 15:36Speaker 7: Absolutely, you know, you know, Butch and I are both
- 15:39Speaker 7: we like working out. We see each other in the
- 15:40Speaker 7: gym in the morning, and we both hit it hard
- 15:43Speaker 7: when we got there, even knowing we are only potentially
- 15:46Speaker 7: only gonna be there for you know, a week or so.
- 15:48Speaker 7: We got special permission to use the exercise equipment. Generally,
- 15:52Speaker 7: when people aren't there for a short amount of time,
- 15:54Speaker 7: they don't use the equipment, and we jumped on it
- 15:57Speaker 7: the first day we were there, and we were pretty
- 15:59Speaker 7: dead the whole time through to make sure we were
- 16:03Speaker 7: in as good as shape as possible. But you're right,
- 16:05Speaker 7: it does take a toll. Nine months is a long
- 16:07Speaker 7: time to make sure your bone density, your muscle mass days. Intact,
- 16:11Speaker 7: we needed to work out every single day getting back.
- 16:15Speaker 7: You know, it's the big muscles are fine because we
- 16:17Speaker 7: worked out. It's all the little small muscles like the
- 16:20Speaker 7: one that holds your heads up right, the one that
- 16:22Speaker 7: allows you to balance on one foot that we really
- 16:24Speaker 7: needed to re engage with that agility and flexibility and
- 16:28Speaker 7: just getting back some of the stamina that we probably
- 16:31Speaker 7: you know that we both have lost while we were
- 16:32Speaker 7: up there. So you know, it's about a thirty day
- 16:35Speaker 7: to forty five day process. And still working on my
- 16:38Speaker 7: fast twitch muscles. I'm a little bit slow. Absolutely not
- 16:41Speaker 7: contributing that to age, only to space flight.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Yeah, no, it's incredible. Let's talk about what's really cool.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Now.
- 16:50Speaker 1: There is an initiative to go back to the Moon.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Part of this, I think is going to inspire especially
- 16:56Speaker 1: young people, that this is something that we can do.
- 17:00Speaker 1: It's obtainable. Why has it taking us so long? And
- 17:03Speaker 1: when is this plan to actually go back to the Moon.
- 17:07Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 17:07Speaker 7: Absolutely, this is really exciting times. You know, I think
- 17:10Speaker 7: what was great was we've had the International Space Station
- 17:13Speaker 7: to try out a whole bunch of processes to understand
- 17:15Speaker 7: what happens to people when they're in space for a
- 17:17Speaker 7: long duration, so we can get ready to go back
- 17:19Speaker 7: to the Moon smarter and you know, in a more
- 17:23Speaker 7: safe way. So we are actually doing some more challenging
- 17:26Speaker 7: things by going to the poll on, going to the
- 17:29Speaker 7: south pole of the Moon. That's our landing spot where
- 17:31Speaker 7: we want to go just for you know, resources sunlight
- 17:36Speaker 7: while we're while we're there, and maybe build a station
- 17:38Speaker 7: like we built in space. So we've used you know,
- 17:40Speaker 7: the space station, Internet space Station as a testing ground
- 17:44Speaker 7: for all of these things to get ready to go.
- 17:46Speaker 7: Also over these you know, last couple decades, I think
- 17:48Speaker 7: everybody knows additive manufacturing, different types of welding, all of
- 17:53Speaker 7: this has all this production has allowed us to build
- 17:56Speaker 7: spacecraft which are amazing. So we're looking forward to low
- 18:00Speaker 7: the Orion capsule this fault. I mean this next year
- 18:03Speaker 7: rather with UH, with four crew members on the Space
- 18:07Speaker 7: Launch System rocket, they'll go around the move to prove
- 18:11Speaker 7: all of our guidance, navigation, control systems and everything that
- 18:14Speaker 7: we've now modernized works quite well and where we can
- 18:18Speaker 7: head to the right place. UH, check out the heat
- 18:20Speaker 7: shield as we come back into the atmosphere much hotter
- 18:23Speaker 7: than from lower orbit where we were want to make
- 18:25Speaker 7: sure that all works right. And then we're going to
- 18:27Speaker 7: be ready to work with more inn more of our
- 18:29Speaker 7: commercial partners to get ready to land on the mood
- 18:33Speaker 7: hopefully Artemis three, Artemis four in the next couple of years.
- 18:37Speaker 1: So it's it's at you're saying, this could happen in
- 18:39Speaker 1: the next couple of years that we could literally have
- 18:42Speaker 1: and an HD color people landing on the Moon and
- 18:45Speaker 1: us getting to see it.
- 18:46Speaker 7: I think, so yeah, And this next year we'll have
- 18:48Speaker 7: you know, Artemis two, and then following probably two years
- 18:51Speaker 7: after that, Artemis three, and then follow on people you know,
- 18:54Speaker 7: footsteps back on the moon. Pretty awesome, and you know,
- 18:57Speaker 7: there's so much to do, it's really going to be busy.
- 19:00Speaker 7: So hopefully we've inspired a bunch of you know, high
- 19:03Speaker 7: school university kids to want to get involved. Their time
- 19:07Speaker 7: is in the is prime right now.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Final question, any chance you're going to be walking on
- 19:11Speaker 1: the moon? And how competitive is it to be one
- 19:13Speaker 1: of those who.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Gets to do it?
- 19:15Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 19:15Speaker 1: I think it's pretty to Tanya Harding in the lag
- 19:18Speaker 1: you know, to just get get at the front of
- 19:19Speaker 1: that line.
- 19:21Speaker 7: Hey, you know, I borrowed shorts from a buddy. We're
- 19:24Speaker 7: a big team effort here. I'm just happy to see
- 19:27Speaker 7: the next generation of astronauts put their foot in history
- 19:31Speaker 7: and walk on the Moon. I'll be there supporting them,
- 19:34Speaker 7: working on some stuff for the rest of the year
- 19:37Speaker 7: to get them ready to go. So we're making it happen.
- 19:40Speaker 7: I would love to go if they said.
- 19:42Speaker 1: No one's been named one assuming right, has anyone been
- 19:45Speaker 1: named yet for that mission?
- 19:46Speaker 8: Or no?
- 19:47Speaker 7: Not for the landing yet, not for artemistry.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Yet I love it. That's see, that's why she's training folks.
- 19:52Speaker 1: She can be PC, but we all know she wants
- 19:54Speaker 1: to get on the moon. I would if I was you.
- 19:56Speaker 1: That's the Holy Grail?
- 19:57Speaker 2: Is it not?
- 19:58Speaker 3: Oh?
- 19:59Speaker 7: Yeah, of course of course it is. But I think
- 20:01Speaker 7: my husband would kill me.
- 20:02Speaker 1: That's you know what you can we can work through that.
- 20:05Speaker 1: There's counselors for that. I appreciate you coming on and
- 20:09Speaker 1: Sonny just and talking. By the way, if you've got kids,
- 20:12Speaker 1: grandkids out there listening. If you're on social media, really
- 20:15Speaker 1: cool social media page, so you can see the Instagram
- 20:18Speaker 1: page I follow, it's awesome and you can inspire others.
- 20:21Speaker 1: This is exciting news for NASA. It's it's an exciting
- 20:24Speaker 1: news for space travel and going to the moon.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Sonny.
- 20:27Speaker 1: We appreciate your time and congratulations on unbelievable career.
- 20:31Speaker 7: Absolutely, Ben, thank you so much.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Wouldn't it be amazing if Democrats actually were willing to
- 20:37Speaker 1: fight criminals in Chicago with the same type of anger
- 20:41Speaker 1: and vigor they're using towards Donald Trump and law enforcement. Well,
- 20:46Speaker 1: the only tough talk you're getting right now out of
- 20:49Speaker 1: Chicago officials is threats of lawsuits against Donald Trump.
- 20:55Speaker 2: That's right.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Illinois Governor J. D. Pritz kerb and the Chicago mayor
- 21:00Speaker 1: Junson have teamed up and are not backing down, as
- 21:03Speaker 1: they say they are angered by the idea of preparations
- 21:07Speaker 1: for what they describe as an illegal immigrant roundup. That
- 21:10Speaker 1: is illegal by the Trump administration in the Windy City Now.
- 21:15Speaker 1: According to an internal federal memo obtained by CBS News,
- 21:19Speaker 1: the Department of Home in Security has asked the Department
- 21:22Speaker 1: of Defense to house roughly two hundred and fifty federal
- 21:26Speaker 1: agents and one hundred and forty vehicles at an Illinois
- 21:29Speaker 1: military base and anticipation of an expected increase in illegal
- 21:34Speaker 1: alien arrests within the Chicago area. CBS News exploding on this,
- 21:40Speaker 1: saying in a request for the assistance to the Department
- 21:44Speaker 1: of Defense, a top Homeland Security official indicated that the
- 21:48Speaker 1: Naval Station Great Lakes, the largest military base in Illinois
- 21:51Speaker 1: and the Navy's largest training station, would be used as
- 21:54Speaker 1: a staging area to oversee the removal operations in the
- 21:59Speaker 1: metropolitan Chicago area targeting immigrants suspected of being in the
- 22:03Speaker 1: US illegally. Now, the President of the United States of America,
- 22:07Speaker 1: Donald Trump, was asked about this, and I want you
- 22:10Speaker 1: to hear what he had to say to a reporter
- 22:13Speaker 1: that was trying to badger him as he was leaving
- 22:15Speaker 1: for Marine one.
- 22:19Speaker 9: News.
- 22:19Speaker 4: You say that, dog, let's take news.
- 22:22Speaker 7: Listen, be quiet, listen, you don't listen, You never listen.
- 22:27Speaker 7: That's why you're second grade.
- 22:29Speaker 2: We're not going to war.
- 22:30Speaker 4: We're going to clean up our city.
- 22:32Speaker 2: We're going to clean them up so they don't.
- 22:33Speaker 6: Kill five people every weekend.
- 22:35Speaker 2: That's not war. That's common sense.
- 22:39Speaker 1: I love the last statement there by President Trump. We're
- 22:42Speaker 1: going to clean it up so they don't kill five
- 22:45Speaker 1: people every weekend. That's not war. That's common sense. Tom
- 22:51Speaker 1: Homan also asked about this on CNN Say of the Union,
- 22:54Speaker 1: and here's what he had to say about it as well.
- 22:58Speaker 10: Joining us now to discuss is the president and it's borders?
- 23:00Speaker 10: Are Tom Homan? Mister Homan, always good to have you.
- 23:02Speaker 11: So.
- 23:03Speaker 10: The governor of Illinois responded to President Trump's post. He wrote, quote,
- 23:07Speaker 10: the President of the United States is threatening to go
- 23:09Speaker 10: to war with an American city. This is not a joke,
- 23:11Speaker 10: This is not normal. Donald Trump isn't a strong man,
- 23:14Speaker 10: He's a scared man. Illinois won't be intimidated by a
- 23:17Speaker 10: wanna be dictator.
- 23:18Speaker 7: Unquotes.
- 23:19Speaker 10: Is President Trump planning to go to war in Chicago.
- 23:22Speaker 11: We're going to war with illegal aliens, public safety threats
- 23:25Speaker 11: that rape children, that raped citizens, that committed armed robberies,
- 23:31Speaker 11: that the distributing narcotics at kill Americans. We're at war
- 23:35Speaker 11: with the criminal cartels, and Governor Prisco protects criminal, illegal
- 23:39Speaker 11: alien public safety threats every day in that state. Along
- 23:41Speaker 11: with Mary Johnson, we proved that the first week of
- 23:44Speaker 11: the administration, I went to Chicago. I started an operation there.
- 23:48Speaker 11: The first day, We're arrested nine sexual predators, most of
- 23:52Speaker 11: them child rapists. We arrested nine members of TDA. Several
- 23:56Speaker 11: of the TDA members had a pistol, an illegal pistol
- 24:00Speaker 11: the switch on it which makes that pistol fully automatic.
- 24:02Speaker 11: We arrested two illegal aliens that a homicide conviction. That
- 24:06Speaker 11: was the first in Chicago. So you know, President Trump
- 24:09Speaker 11: and this administration, Yeah, we're at war with the criminal
- 24:11Speaker 11: cartels and those who want to murder and rape the
- 24:14Speaker 11: American citizens.
- 24:15Speaker 2: You' damn right.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Isn't it amazing how the media decides to spend this
- 24:20Speaker 1: story that somehow Donald Trump is going to go to
- 24:23Speaker 1: war with a American city. No, We're going to war
- 24:27Speaker 1: with the criminal legal aliens every day, no matter where
- 24:30Speaker 1: they are. And that is the Trump doctrine. Now, of
- 24:34Speaker 1: course Sinnan didn't like this doctrine, right, They don't like
- 24:38Speaker 1: the fact that this administration is fighting back against criminals.
- 24:43Speaker 1: They want to act like somehow Donald Trump is a
- 24:46Speaker 1: dictator and a tyrant. And so Jake Tapper does what
- 24:49Speaker 1: Jake Tapper does. He decides to, you know, be an
- 24:52Speaker 1: elitist and grandstand with Tom Homan. And that's where he
- 24:55Speaker 1: decided to say, well, hold on a second, you guys
- 24:58Speaker 1: have been flooding the zone and Chicago, and is that
- 25:01Speaker 1: really the job of the government.
- 25:04Speaker 11: The problem marriage which are sanctuary cities.
- 25:06Speaker 10: Governor Pritzker says Illinois has not received any notification about
- 25:09Speaker 10: any enforcement action from the White House. Will you be
- 25:12Speaker 10: coordinating with them about an operation of the size in Chicago?
- 25:16Speaker 11: Governor Prisker has been noted five day one. Again, I
- 25:19Speaker 11: went there and started in operation right after the inauguration.
- 25:23Speaker 11: ICE agents have been flooding the zone in Chicago for
- 25:26Speaker 11: a while now, so he's aware of what's going on.
- 25:29Speaker 11: I mean, he knows we've been there. We were there
- 25:32Speaker 11: last week, we're there the week before. Now again we're
- 25:35Speaker 11: going to send additional resources to all sanctuary cities. But
- 25:38Speaker 11: this isn't new to him. He knows we've been there,
- 25:39Speaker 11: and he's failed to work with us. The Mary Johnson
- 25:42Speaker 11: has failed to work with us again to this day.
- 25:45Speaker 11: A significant public safety threat gets locked into a jail
- 25:48Speaker 11: in Illinois, in Chicago, Cook County Jail one of the
- 25:52Speaker 11: most target rich environments for criminal illegal aliens, and we've
- 25:56Speaker 11: dropped the detainers. Say hey, this guy's are illegally the
- 25:58Speaker 11: United States. You have custody and you' dumb on thee
- 26:00Speaker 11: call us and we'll come and get them. Let us
- 26:02Speaker 11: deal with our enforcing our law. And they simply ignore
- 26:05Speaker 11: it and release into the streets. And what happens then
- 26:07Speaker 11: when we release a public safety threat back into the public,
- 26:10Speaker 11: It makes a community unsafe. It makes us unsafe for
- 26:13Speaker 11: our agents have to go into the community and try
- 26:15Speaker 11: to find somebody. Now in history, if we as access
- 26:17Speaker 11: to who knows what weapons, It makes unsafe for the
- 26:19Speaker 11: illegal anim because anything can happen on a street arrest.
- 26:22Speaker 11: Give us the public safety threat in the safety and
- 26:25Speaker 11: security of Accounty Jail makes it safer for everybody.
- 26:29Speaker 1: You listen to the reality that they refuse even the
- 26:33Speaker 1: worst illegal immigrant criminal where there is an ICE detainer
- 26:37Speaker 1: and they say to law enforcement, tell us when you're
- 26:39Speaker 1: done with them, and we'll come pick them up. And
- 26:41Speaker 1: what do they say in Illinois, we will not notify you,
- 26:44Speaker 1: we will not work with you.
- 26:46Speaker 2: We are going to.
- 26:46Speaker 1: Release these rapists, these murderers, these cartel members, these drug
- 26:51Speaker 1: dealers back into our streets to terrorize our citizens because
- 26:56Speaker 1: we care more about hating Trump than we do about
- 27:00Speaker 1: keeping people safe.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Which brings us back to the governor.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Governor Pritzker saying this about Donald Trump's plan to bring
- 27:08Speaker 1: in more resources into Chicago.
- 27:11Speaker 6: By the way, the homicide rate in Chicago has now
- 27:14Speaker 6: been cut in half over the last four years because
- 27:17Speaker 6: of the investments that we've made on the ground. It's
- 27:20Speaker 6: not just in police. I have invested significantly in police,
- 27:23Speaker 6: but we've also made massive investments in community violence intervention.
- 27:28Speaker 6: Those programs are working. We're doing more than any other
- 27:31Speaker 6: state in that regard, and it's working on the streets
- 27:33Speaker 6: of Chicago. He doesn't read anything, he doesn't really understand anything.
- 27:37Speaker 6: He just has some idea in his head that Chicago
- 27:40Speaker 6: is bad. He's always had that. By the way, I
- 27:43Speaker 6: also think I live rent free in the guy's head,
- 27:45Speaker 6: so he's constantly thinking about, you know, how do I
- 27:48Speaker 6: attack Chicago? And oh, yeah, I hate that Pritzker guy too.
- 27:52Speaker 1: There it is very clear. It's all about the politics
- 27:56Speaker 1: with the governor. He wants to attack. Donald Trump doesn't
- 28:00Speaker 1: want to work with law enforcement, he doesn't want to
- 28:03Speaker 1: allow for anyone to be safe in his cities, and
- 28:08Speaker 1: lying over and over again. There's a mother of a
- 28:12Speaker 1: murdered girl, a Chicago resident, who decided to go on
- 28:15Speaker 1: Fox and Friends, and here's what she had to say
- 28:18Speaker 1: about how she is terrified and others are terrified to
- 28:22Speaker 1: even walk the streets, and she lost her own child
- 28:26Speaker 1: to this type of horrific violence in Chicago.
- 28:30Speaker 9: This is a mother of a girl murdered in Chicago
- 28:33Speaker 9: who says she wants President Trump to come in and
- 28:36Speaker 9: fix the city.
- 28:39Speaker 5: I would like the governors to ask for help because
- 28:42Speaker 5: the thing that's in place right now is not working.
- 28:45Speaker 5: We're scared to sit in our cars. We're scared to
- 28:48Speaker 5: have our kids walking to school.
- 28:51Speaker 9: I mean, we have residents like you on every single
- 28:54Speaker 9: day who're saying we want the governor to ask for help,
- 28:58Speaker 9: we want the federal government to step in. So what
- 29:01Speaker 9: more is it gonna take.
- 29:04Speaker 8: I think it's gonna take one of their own to
- 29:06Speaker 8: actually suffer through, you know, some of the things that
- 29:09Speaker 8: we go through in Chicago. I actually challenged JB. Prisker
- 29:12Speaker 8: Brandon Johnson to actually walk the same streets that I
- 29:14Speaker 8: walk here in Chicago, I mean without the police detail,
- 29:18Speaker 8: without the suits, of course, and we'll see if they
- 29:21Speaker 8: have that same opinion. When it comes to JB. Pritsker
- 29:24Speaker 8: saying that Chicago is safe, I feel like a lot
- 29:26Speaker 8: of this is just virtue signaling. When it comes to JB. Prisker,
- 29:30Speaker 8: he think he's living rent free and Donald Trump's head
- 29:33Speaker 8: that I honestly think it's the other way around. And
- 29:36Speaker 8: when it comes to Brandon Johnson and all of the
- 29:38Speaker 8: race baiting and things like that, he tends to think
- 29:41Speaker 8: that police are races because you know, majority of police
- 29:45Speaker 8: officer happens to be white Caucasian males. But you know,
- 29:48Speaker 8: he fails to tell the people that there were over
- 29:51Speaker 8: thirty two hundred black slave owners in America and they
- 29:54Speaker 8: own over twelve thousand slaves. So we can play the
- 29:58Speaker 8: color game, but that's not gonna help the issue when
- 30:01Speaker 8: it comes to safety in Chicago.
- 30:03Speaker 9: Well, we know you know the city well, and for
- 30:05Speaker 9: those of us who have known that city for a
- 30:07Speaker 9: long time, it is just not what it once was.
- 30:09Speaker 9: It's changed significantly, and it's rough for so many families
- 30:13Speaker 9: that can't leave and that have to continue to live
- 30:16Speaker 9: there for work and otherwise. So appreciate you coming on.
- 30:20Speaker 1: You listen to these residents, not one, but two there
- 30:23Speaker 1: telling their stories talking about how bad it is. Do
- 30:26Speaker 1: you notice the governor and the mayor are not listening
- 30:28Speaker 1: to them at all? And this is exactly why Donald
- 30:32Speaker 1: Trump right now is so popular because he's actually doing
- 30:36Speaker 1: what he said he was going to do. He's not
- 30:38Speaker 1: going to sit back and watch people get killed. He's
- 30:43Speaker 1: not going to sit back and say I'm sorry. But
- 30:46Speaker 1: because you're in that city, you're not going to be safe.
- 30:50Speaker 1: And this is why I think there are so many
- 30:53Speaker 1: Americans right now that like this present more than they
- 30:55Speaker 1: did in his first administration.
- 30:57Speaker 2: He's doing it differently.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Don't forget share this podcast please with your family and
- 31:02Speaker 1: your friends wherever they are, and I will see you
- 31:06Speaker 1: back here tomorrow
