- 0:00just need to know that it ain't
- 0:03over. Amen. Thank you, Jesus. Well,
- 0:07listen. It is time for the word.
- 0:08Everybody ready for the word? Oh my
- 0:12God. I am so excited to be standing in
- 0:15thestead of the greatest
- 0:18pastor in the entire world, Bishop Rosie
- 0:24S. O'Neal. Come on and give it up for
- 0:27our
- 0:28[Applause]
- 0:30pastor. My goodness. All right, y'all be
- 0:33seated. I'm telling you, I love my
- 0:36pastor. Just know that. Amen. Amen. And
- 0:39I have the opportunity to stand and give
- 0:40God some glory through his word today.
- 0:43Amen. So, let's jump
- 0:46in. Has anybody in here ever been
- 0:49walking too fast and your foot slipped?
- 0:52Mhm. Well, let me tell you, just the
- 0:54other day, Cristiana and I were leaving
- 0:56the dentist office, and I'm fasting out
- 0:59of the out of the dentist office,
- 1:00Veronica. I'm walking really, really
- 1:02fast. And all of a sudden, my foot
- 1:04slipped off the side of the
- 1:07sidewalk. I'm telling you, as God is my
- 1:10witness, the range of emotions that I
- 1:14experienced in that one
- 1:17moment was pure panic.
- 1:20I was scared as I don't know what. So
- 1:22many things were set in motion because I
- 1:26was going down.
- 1:28My whole reputation, Pastor Trev, was on
- 1:31the line because I was going down. All I
- 1:36could think in my mind was seeing it on
- 1:38Facebook. Pastor Christie face down on
- 1:40the pavement posted on Facebook because
- 1:43I was going down. My bones were at risk
- 1:47because I was going down. I'm not
- 1:50getting any younger. Y'all know that.
- 1:53And if the truth be told, over the
- 1:55years, I've added a few extra pounds.
- 1:57And Cristiana, as well as this little
- 1:59kid who was watching it, they were at
- 2:02risk, too, because they weren't going to
- 2:04be able to pick me up because I was
- 2:07going down.
- 2:09The feeling of losing your footing or
- 2:12heading for a fall just isn't physical.
- 2:16There's a spiritual going down that can
- 2:19happen when you lose your footing in
- 2:22God. Well, I think that there's some
- 2:24wisdom to be gained by Holy Spirit as we
- 2:28examine the life of a very familiar
- 2:30person in the scriptures whose life was
- 2:33going down because of his various
- 2:36choices. So, our time together today, I
- 2:39want us to take a look at the life of
- 2:41Samson.
- 2:43Samson is a well-known character. He's a
- 2:46miracle child because he was born to his
- 2:48parents at the time they were barren.
- 2:51Samson comes out different. He's unique.
- 2:55He's a pretty good kid, you know, pretty
- 2:57good-looking, really strong. I'm telling
- 2:59you, this joker could tear up a lion cam
- 3:02with his bare hands.
- 3:04And the thing that I loved about Samson
- 3:06is he had a covenant with God. It was a
- 3:09Nazerite vow. And in his covenant, he
- 3:13was not to touch any dead thing. He was
- 3:16not supposed to be in any certain in
- 3:18certain environments because he wasn't
- 3:21supposed to drink wine and he wasn't
- 3:23even supposed to be in wine making
- 3:26environments. And he was not and he was
- 3:29not supposed to cut his hair. Well, God
- 3:33had told him, just like he's told many
- 3:35of us through his word and his spirit,
- 3:38things that we should do and things that
- 3:40we should not do.
- 3:43But the issue that we've got to deal
- 3:45with today as it relates to Samson is
- 3:48this. For all of his potential, for all
- 3:52of his gifting, for all of his strength,
- 3:54and even with a covenant on his side,
- 3:57how is it that Samson kept going down?
- 4:02Now, I'm going to tell you something.
- 4:03This scares me. I don't know. It's It
- 4:06really does scare me. It grips my heart.
- 4:08And I'm telling you, it should scare you
- 4:10as well. I'm not talking about the kind
- 4:12of fear that paralyzes us. That's not
- 4:15what I'm talking about. But what I'm
- 4:17talking about is the kind of fear, the
- 4:20reverential fear that should create
- 4:23carefulness for our covenant. Amen. You
- 4:26got to remember that bishop taught us in
- 4:29our covenant that we have with God that
- 4:31there are promises
- 4:33and privileges. There are rights, you
- 4:37got it, and
- 4:38responsibilities. And if you remember
- 4:40from last week, Bishop shared with us
- 4:42that there is a cost to covenant. And
- 4:45she called and she told us that we're
- 4:47called to speak up for those who'd have
- 4:49no voices. Amen.
- 4:52Well, we've learned throughout this time
- 4:54of living covenant consciously. How many
- 4:56of y'all have been paying attention and
- 4:57keeping up? Amen. We've learned that our
- 5:00covenant should give us confidence.
- 5:04I'm going to say that again. We've
- 5:05learned that our covenant should give us
- 5:08confidence, but it also should give us
- 5:11clarity, but it most certainly should
- 5:14give us and produce carefulness. Yeah.
- 5:18So today's lesson helps us to see
- 5:21through the life of Samson what happens
- 5:24when we start putting compromise where
- 5:26there should be carefulness.
- 5:31I'mma let you know this. When we do
- 5:34that, our lives go down. Look at your
- 5:38neighbor in the face and help me preach
- 5:40this and say, "Don't go down. Don't go
- 5:42down. Stay up. Stay up." So what is God
- 5:45saying to us today? He's telling us stay
- 5:48up.
- 5:49Stay up. I've been reading, pastor. Good
- 5:53gracious. I've been reading Judges
- 5:55chapter 13, 14, 15, and chapter 16
- 6:00probably for the past month and a half.
- 6:02I've been reading it just over and over
- 6:04and over again and just outlining
- 6:07Samson's life. And I'm telling you,
- 6:10every time I turned around, what I
- 6:12started noticing was Samson was I'm
- 6:15going
- 6:18down. I'm going down.
- 6:21Okay, now get that Mary J. Blind song
- 6:23right on off your mind. Go on and get
- 6:26that off your mind. Tell your neighbor,
- 6:27you ain't going down. You better stay
- 6:30up. You better stay up. And Lord knows I
- 6:32thought to myself that Samson must have
- 6:34had that song on repeat because he kept
- 6:38going down. Well, let's look at a few
- 6:41examples from Samson's life where we
- 6:43find him going down. Look at Judges
- 6:46chapter 14 and I'm going to read verses
- 6:481 and two out of
- 6:51NIV. The first example that I see where
- 6:53Samson is going down. It says Samson
- 6:56went Judges 14:es 1 and two. Samson went
- 7:01down to Timna and saw there a young
- 7:05Philistine woman. When he returned, he
- 7:07said to his father and his mother, "I
- 7:10have a I've seen a Philistine woman in
- 7:12Timna. Now get her for me as my wife."
- 7:14Now, first of all, the tone of that, you
- 7:17talking to your mama and your daddy and
- 7:19you telling your mama and your daddy,
- 7:21"Go get her for me cuz that that's who I
- 7:23want." I had issues with that. But let
- 7:26me ask let me tell you this. I know your
- 7:28question may be, well now, what does
- 7:29that got to do with his life going down?
- 7:31Well, look at verse three, and I'm going
- 7:33to read this in the NIV. His father and
- 7:37mother replied, "Isn't there an
- 7:39acceptable woman among your relatives or
- 7:43among all your people? Must you go to
- 7:46the uncircumcised Philistines to get a
- 7:48wife?" The very first thing that I noted
- 7:52was Samson was looking in the wrong
- 7:54place to get his need met.
- 7:58He was looking in the wrong place to get
- 8:01his need met. He already knew that he
- 8:03was supposed to be intermaring with a
- 8:06Philistine woman. He already knew that
- 8:08he was looking in the wrong place.
- 8:11Somebody say he was looking in the wrong
- 8:12place.
- 8:14And if you look at how the language is
- 8:16in verse two, three, he said, his mother
- 8:19and father said, "Isn't there an
- 8:21acceptable woman?" what he was looking
- 8:24at was not acceptable for his covenant.
- 8:27Look at your look at your person on the
- 8:29left side of you and say, "Now, what is
- 8:31what you looking at acceptable?"
- 8:34You got to ask yourself that question
- 8:36when you're talking about your covenant.
- 8:38Is it acceptable for your covenant?
- 8:48God had already established what kind of
- 8:50person Samson was supposed to marry. and
- 8:52his choice compromised and undercut the
- 8:56carefulness that his covenant required.
- 8:59You got to be careful what you're
- 9:00looking at. You got to be careful. Now,
- 9:03y'all, we got to make Pastor said this,
- 9:05we got to make a covenant with our eyes.
- 9:08You can't look at everything. You can't
- 9:10entertain everything. You've got to be
- 9:13careful because what you look at will
- 9:15get down on the inside of you and it'll
- 9:18start pulling you in places that you
- 9:20should not be going.
- 9:24You got to be careful. Can't look in the
- 9:26wrong place. KCC men,
- 9:30align men.
- 9:32You all have made a commitment and a
- 9:34covenant to stand strong and be
- 9:36committed to Christ. Amen. You made a
- 9:38covenant to say, you know what? I am an
- 9:40aligned man. I'm generous at my core.
- 9:43Now, let me say this to you. I know that
- 9:45girl is
- 9:46fine. I know she fine. I know she's
- 9:49fine. Amen. But the truth of the matter
- 9:53is she's not your wife. And God calls
- 9:56that unacceptable.
- 10:01And somebody say, "And it'll take you
- 10:03down." And it'll take you down.
- 10:07The other thing that I noted, pastor,
- 10:09from Samson's life, look at Judges
- 10:11chapter
- 10:1214:5. The other thing that I noticed
- 10:14from Samson's life, and make note of
- 10:16this, that the Holy Spirit showed us.
- 10:18Verse five says, "Samson went down to
- 10:21Timna together with his father and his
- 10:23mother as they approached vineyards."
- 10:26Now, let's stop right there. Let's stop
- 10:29right there. Samson, now you already
- 10:32have a Nazerite vow. You already vowed
- 10:36that you would not be in
- 10:38vineyards. This is what you told God. So
- 10:41the second thing that I noted was his
- 10:44life went down because he started
- 10:46lingering in the wrong place.
- 10:50You've got to be careful where you're
- 10:52looking. But you also need to be careful
- 10:54where you're lingering.
- 10:56And as a Nazerite, he weren't supposed
- 10:58to be there. He had already swore that
- 11:00he was not going to be anywhere near any
- 11:02vines.
- 11:04Now, let me say this.
- 11:07I know that we are not I know I don't
- 11:10want you to think that I'm telling you
- 11:11that you ain't going to ever be around
- 11:13people that have no covenant with God
- 11:15cuz that's not the truth. That's not the
- 11:17case. On your job, you going to have
- 11:19some people that are not saved. Amen. In
- 11:22your and I'm not telling you not to go
- 11:23to your family reunion because I know
- 11:25that Aunt Sally ain't saved yet and she
- 11:27cuss a little bit, dip her snuff and do
- 11:29her stuff. I get it and you and it's
- 11:31okay for you to be there. But what I am
- 11:34saying is this. You've got to be careful
- 11:36where you do your relaxing.
- 11:39[Music]
- 11:40You got to be careful where you lay your
- 11:42hair, where you let your hair down.
- 11:45You have to be careful because the enemy
- 11:48is trying to snatch you out of your
- 11:50place.
- 11:52You got to be careful because the enemy
- 11:55is trying to snatch you out of your
- 11:57place. But touch somebody and say, "You
- 11:59better stay up. You better stay up." Now
- 12:02see, there's a difference between being
- 12:03cordial and being comfortable.
- 12:06There's a difference between being
- 12:08cordial and comfortable. There's a
- 12:11difference between being influenced and
- 12:14influencing. You need to know the
- 12:16difference. I can smile with the best of
- 12:18them. I can smile. I can high-five with
- 12:20you, but I'm not going to let my hair
- 12:22down everywhere. And that's what you and
- 12:25I have to me be aware of. You can't be
- 12:28comfortable everywhere.
- 12:30Bishop said it like this. Please get
- 12:32this. She said, "If you are on fire and
- 12:35you hang out with ice cubes, sooner than
- 12:38later, I guarantee you that those ice
- 12:41cubes are going to win and you are going
- 12:44to cool off."
- 12:50Now, I don't know about you, but that's
- 12:53all I'm gonna say on that. The bottom
- 12:55line is his life went down. So, he's
- 12:57looking in the wrong direction.
- 12:59He's lingering in places where he
- 13:00shouldn't. And the third thing that I
- 13:02noticed, go to Judges 14. Look at verse
- 13:048 and N. When I tell you his story, woo,
- 13:07was amazing. Talk Bible. That's right,
- 13:09Pastor Trip. Verse 8 says, "Sometime
- 13:12later, when he had went back to marry
- 13:14her, he turned aside to look at the
- 13:16lion's carcass. And in it, he saw a
- 13:19swarm of bees and some honey." Look at
- 13:22verse n. He scooped out the honey with
- 13:24his hands and ate as he went along.
- 13:30The third thing that I noticed that kept
- 13:33Samson going down was he started
- 13:35touching the wrong thing.
- 13:39He's touching something dead that's
- 13:40violating his covenant.
- 13:44And you got to ask yourself, what am I
- 13:46touching that's violating my covenant?
- 13:50Again, here's the thing. Who in the
- 13:52world wants to eat something honey eat
- 13:54honey out of something dead?
- 13:57It's sweet, honey. It's sweet. It's
- 13:59sweet, but it's on the inside of
- 14:01something dead.
- 14:05Now, let me tell you this. My daddy used
- 14:06to say it like this. Everything that
- 14:08looks good to you ain't good for
- 14:11[Applause]
- 14:12you. And that was certainly true of
- 14:15Samson's covenant. You know, Bishop, I
- 14:17was studying this term. It's a clinical
- 14:20term, and it's called necrilia.
- 14:24And it is the practice of having a
- 14:26strong or pathological fascination with
- 14:30dead things. It often includes a desire
- 14:34to engage in intimate interaction and
- 14:37activity with dead things.
- 14:40Now I saw your faces. I saw some of us
- 14:43scrunch our faces up like, "Oh my god,
- 14:45that is nasty." And you are exactly
- 14:47right. Physically it is. But the Holy
- 14:49Spirit said to me, "Don't scrunch your
- 14:51face up so quickly. And don't turn your
- 14:54nose up so fast because some of us have
- 14:56been practicing spiritual and emotional
- 15:00necroilia.
- 15:01[Applause]
- 15:03Somebody hurt you years ago and you
- 15:05started walking in unforgiveness and now
- 15:08you've been holding on to that pain and
- 15:11you're caressing it and you're holding
- 15:13it and you're playing with it over and
- 15:15over in your mind. Tell your neighbor,
- 15:18"It's a dead thing. It's a dead thing
- 15:20and you need to let it go.
- 15:22Some of you in here have used to battle
- 15:24with anxiety and depression, but you
- 15:27know that God delivered you from that.
- 15:30But every now and then at the first sign
- 15:33of trouble or struggle, you start
- 15:35reverting back to that old thought
- 15:37pattern in your mind. Instead of
- 15:39grabbing hold to the word of God and
- 15:42speaking it out of your mouth, you need
- 15:44to touch your neighbor again and say,
- 15:45"Stay up. Stay up. It's a dead thing.
- 15:49And you ain't supposed to touch it.
- 15:51But perhaps the most famous example of
- 15:55Samson going down is found in his
- 15:58interaction with Delilah. Where he
- 16:01completely disregards the carefulness of
- 16:04his covenant. The most familiar part of
- 16:07his story occurs when he tells her the
- 16:10secret of his strength and he lays down
- 16:13in the compromised position on her lap
- 16:16and she lulls him to sleep and violates
- 16:20the covenant that he made with God. But
- 16:23what we've got to pay attention to and
- 16:26learn from in this story is not the big
- 16:30fall, but the small, seemingly
- 16:33insignificant moments of compromise that
- 16:36led up to this great fall with Delilah.
- 16:40You see, this lesson really is about the
- 16:43danger of compromise. Bishop gave me
- 16:46this definition, and I'm telling you,
- 16:48amazing. This is what she said.
- 16:50Compromise is when you have a standard
- 16:53set, but you expand it or relax it for
- 16:58something else that you want to do.
- 17:02Right? I'll say it again. Compromise is
- 17:06when you have a standard set, but you
- 17:08expand it and relax it for something
- 17:11else that you want to do. Compromises
- 17:14are not always sin, but they're not
- 17:16wise.
- 17:20Now say it again. Compromises are not
- 17:22always sin, but they are not wise.
- 17:27Bishop shared something else with me and
- 17:28I'm telling you, just listen to this.
- 17:32She said, "When you compromise
- 17:34consistently over time, even if it's not
- 17:38a sin, listen to what it will do. It
- 17:41will weaken your ability to stay
- 17:43upright. It weakens your ability to keep
- 17:46your word and it destroys your character
- 17:49because you push the boundaries for your
- 17:52own convenience and it ultimately kills
- 17:54the muscle of restraint in
- 17:59you. You get to a point where you have
- 18:02said no so much where you've said yes so
- 18:05much to stuff that you shouldn't have
- 18:07said yes to that you get in a position
- 18:09now when you should say no that you
- 18:11can't.
- 18:16Think about that for a moment. You get
- 18:18into a position, you should say no, but
- 18:21you done say a yes so much till now when
- 18:24it calls for a no. You don't even have
- 18:27any restraint at all. This is what the
- 18:30enemy is looking and trying to get us
- 18:32into this position to be. But tell
- 18:34somebody, stay up. You got to stay up.
- 18:38Pastor Shandelle said it like this.
- 18:40Every time you say yes when you
- 18:41shouldn't, it becomes harder to say no
- 18:44when you should.
- 18:45[Applause]
- 18:48Every time you say yes when you
- 18:50shouldn't, it becomes harder to say no
- 18:53when you should.
- 18:55For example, you said that you won't
- 18:58going to ever drink alcohol. And that
- 19:01was the standard that you and God set
- 19:04because you realize that your whole
- 19:06family deal with alcoholism. But now you
- 19:10see somebody else drinking. So you say,
- 19:12"Oh, well, maybe it's okay for me to
- 19:15drink a little something, too." That's
- 19:17compromised for you because you had your
- 19:20standard set already. Now you see
- 19:23somebody else and you're going to relax
- 19:25it. And I'm going to tell you what it's
- 19:26going to do. It's going to take your
- 19:28life down. Tell somebody, "Stay up."
- 19:31Stay up. Here's another example. You
- 19:33used to be on fire for the Lord. I mean
- 19:35in church serving wide open. You are
- 19:37here when the doors open, before the
- 19:40doors open. But then you get attached to
- 19:42certain groups or environments and you
- 19:44swore it you were going to be the light.
- 19:47But now you've been doing things that
- 19:49make you look like what's not the light
- 19:51anymore.
- 19:53You started compromising
- 19:56and it's taking your life down. Somebody
- 19:59say stay up. Stay up. And this is
- 20:01exactly what happened to Samson. Every
- 20:03time he said yes to his flesh, every
- 20:05time he said yes to touching what he
- 20:07should not have, every time he said yes
- 20:10to being in an environment that was
- 20:12against what God told him, he was losing
- 20:15restraint. So much so till by the time
- 20:18he got into this situation with Delilah,
- 20:20his ability to restrict and restrain
- 20:23himself was completely defeated. He
- 20:27ended up losing all of his strength. But
- 20:29look at Judges chapter 16 verse 19. My
- 20:32God.
- 20:33Oh, goodness gracious. His His story is
- 20:36just just I don't even know what to say.
- 20:41Hold on. Let me turn my Bible. Judges 16
- 20:43verse 19. It says, "After putting him to
- 20:47sleep on her lap, she called for someone
- 20:50to shave off the seven braids of his
- 20:53hair. Delilah had lulled Sam to sleep
- 20:56with his head in her lap. And then she
- 20:59called in a man to shave off the seven
- 21:01locks of his hair. In this way, she
- 21:04began to bring him down, and his
- 21:07strength left him. Y'all, this one verse
- 21:12is the culmination of consistently
- 21:15choosing compromise over carefulness.
- 21:20Wow. This one
- 21:23verse is the culmination of consistently
- 21:26choosing compromise over carefulness.
- 21:30This picture shows us a person who
- 21:32consistently cut corners.
- 21:35It shows us a person who consistently
- 21:38participated in gray area activity.
- 21:41And y'all, we've got to be careful. This
- 21:44is a prophetic warning to us. We've got
- 21:47to be careful. We've got to stay up
- 21:49because the enemy is trying to snatch
- 21:51you out of your place. But tell
- 21:54somebody, "The devil is a lie." I'm
- 21:56going to stay up.
- 21:59So, how do we stay up? Let me go on to
- 22:01this. So, how do we stay up? This is
- 22:02what Holy Spirit said. I'm going to give
- 22:04you these and then I'mma sit down. This
- 22:06is what the Holy Spirit said. Number
- 22:08one, how do you stay up? You got to
- 22:10respect your covenant.
- 22:12You got to respect your covenant. Bishop
- 22:14said it standing right here. You got to
- 22:16decide. Decide what kind of person
- 22:18you're going to be. Decide what kind of
- 22:21Christian you are going to be. You got
- 22:23to set your non-negotiables.
- 22:26What are the things that you are
- 22:27absolutely not going to do? I know
- 22:30everybody else might be doing stuff, but
- 22:32no, I'm not doing that. Why? Because
- 22:34this is what me and God talked about in
- 22:36my covenant. No, I'm not going over
- 22:39there and hanging out with those crazy
- 22:40people over here that's talking a bunch
- 22:42of trash about the church. No, I'm not
- 22:44doing that. Yeah, that's good. I'm not
- 22:47doing that. Look at your neighbor and
- 22:48tell them, "I'm not doing that."
- 22:51Set your non-negotiables. What are
- 22:53things that you are absolutely not going
- 22:55to do? But what are the things that you
- 22:57are going to do? I am going to be in
- 23:00church every Sunday. Absolutely. I'm
- 23:02bringing my tithe. Absolutely. I'm
- 23:04sewing into the life of my pastor.
- 23:06Absolutely. I'm loving on my husband.
- 23:09Absolutely. I'm not stepping outside of
- 23:11that covenant. No, I'm not.
- 23:13You got to respect your covenant. You
- 23:16got to respect your covenant. And God is
- 23:18calling for some of us in here today.
- 23:20It's time for you to make a decision.
- 23:25What kind of Christian are you going to
- 23:27be?
- 23:29All right. Number two, how are you going
- 23:32to stay up? You got to respect your
- 23:33covenant. Number two, you got to refuse
- 23:35dead things.
- 23:38You got to refuse dead things. The Holy
- 23:40Spirit gave it to me like this. You got
- 23:42to refuse to taste, touch, try out, or
- 23:45toy with anything dead.
- 23:49I'll say it again. You've got to refuse
- 23:51to taste, touch, try out, or touch, or
- 23:55toy with anything dead. That's past
- 23:58relationships. That's toxic
- 24:00relationships. That's harmful habits.
- 24:02Whatever that is for you, you got to
- 24:04refuse it.
- 24:06Don't play with it. You got to refuse it
- 24:10because the enemy is trying to take you
- 24:12out
- 24:14and you got to know that.
- 24:17Number three, how do you stay up? You
- 24:20have to recognize the ex the escalation
- 24:23of compromise.
- 24:26You have to recognize the escalation of
- 24:30compromise. Here's what he said to me.
- 24:32You need to know that any compromise
- 24:34that you make is going to carry you
- 24:37further than you intended to go, keep
- 24:39you longer than you intended to stay,
- 24:42and cost you more than you intended to
- 24:44pay.
- 24:47You need to know that this compromise is
- 24:50going to take you further than you want
- 24:52to go. You see, the enemy is not just
- 24:55trying to mess up your day. That's not
- 24:57what he's trying to do. He's trying to
- 24:59erase your face.
- 25:02He's trying to take away your legacy.
- 25:04And you need to wake up and stay up.
- 25:09[Applause]
- 25:12That's a cost you don't want to pay.
- 25:18He ain't just trying to take your
- 25:20marriage. That's not what he's trying to
- 25:22do. He's trying to destroy legacy.
- 25:26You and your spouse loving on each
- 25:28other. That's a picture of Christ loving
- 25:30the church. So, he wants to erase that
- 25:35so people can go down. But tell
- 25:38somebody, "Stay up." Stay up. Number
- 25:41four, what you got to do if you're going
- 25:42to stay up, you got to remember what's
- 25:44at stake. You got to remember what's at
- 25:47stake. Y'all, we run the risk like
- 25:49Samson of losing our hair, losing our
- 25:52anointing, losing our witness, losing
- 25:55our power, losing our strength, and
- 25:58losing our vision. There's so much at
- 26:01stake.
- 26:03And you got to be aware of that.
- 26:06This ain't the time to be sleep.
- 26:09Now, I know these lights are dim in here
- 26:10and it's, you know, a a nice environment
- 26:13and you feel comfortable and you feel
- 26:14like you can just close your eyes. This
- 26:16is not the time to close your eyes.
- 26:20This ain't the time to lay your head in
- 26:22Delila's lap. This is the time to stay
- 26:24up
- 26:26cuz the enemy is trying to destroy us.
- 26:29But somebody say, "The devil is a lie."
- 26:31The devil is a lie. And then number
- 26:33five, pastor. Oh my god. Number five.
- 26:35This one hit me like a ton of bricks.
- 26:37Listen. Woo. Number five. If you are
- 26:40going to stay up, you got to reach out
- 26:43to God for help. Yeah,
- 26:47you got to reach out to God for help.
- 26:49Let me tell you, look at this. Check
- 26:51this out. Judges chapter 16, last verse,
- 26:54verse 28 says, "Then Samson prayed to
- 26:59the Lord. Sovereign Lord, remember me.
- 27:02Please God, strengthen me just one more
- 27:05time and let me with one blow get
- 27:08revenge on the Philistines for my two
- 27:10eyes." Let me tell you something. Pastor
- 27:12Ni and I were on the phone yesterday and
- 27:14we were talking. She said, "Chris," and
- 27:16I know she's watching. Hey, girl. So,
- 27:17she said this to me. She said, "Listen,
- 27:20you got to understand the Sam Samson
- 27:23thought that he had lost everything."
- 27:25But you know what he did not lose? He
- 27:26didn't lose his
- 27:28voice. He didn't lose his voice. He
- 27:31could cry out to God cuz that's what
- 27:33that word pray means. He could cry out
- 27:35to God. So, let me tell you something.
- 27:38Some of you may be sitting in here right
- 27:39now and you're listening to this message
- 27:41and you're saying, "You know what? I
- 27:42hear what you're saying, but my life is
- 27:44already gone down. I'm not going down.
- 27:46It's already gone down." I want to
- 27:48encourage you. Cry out to God. Cry out
- 27:51to God because the good news is God
- 27:54strengthened Samson. He strengthened
- 27:56him, y'all. He strengthened him and
- 27:58Samson began to get in that position and
- 28:01he knocked that mess down. And I know at
- 28:03the end it looked tragic, but it really
- 28:05wasn't. Because the good news is God
- 28:08will help you.
- 28:12[Music]
- 28:13[Applause]
- 28:15Cuz see, the enemy will try to hit you
- 28:16with condemnation, make you feel like
- 28:18your story is over. But I'm here to let
- 28:21the devil know the devil is a lie. Your
- 28:22story ain't over, baby. The fact that
- 28:25you sitting in here right now with a
- 28:27mind to even listen lets me know that
- 28:29God's got you.
- 28:34But you got to reach out to God for
- 28:36help.
- 28:40You got to reach out. And you still got
- 28:43your voice.
- 28:44Tell somebody, I still got my voice. I
- 28:47know the devil been messing with me, but
- 28:49I still got my voice. I still got a
- 28:51connection with God. I still can cry out
- 28:54to the Lord, and he will hear
- 28:57me. Yes, he will.
- 29:00Don't let the devil fool you, back you
- 29:03into a corner, make you feel like all
- 29:04hope is lost. Cam, all hope ain't lost.
- 29:07Baby, you still got your voice. You
- 29:10still got your voice, Lena. You still
- 29:12got your voice. You still got your
- 29:14voice, Maya. You still got your
- 29:17voice. And you need to remind your
- 29:20circumstances and remind the devil, I
- 29:22still got my voice. I know I messed up.
- 29:25I know I did some stupid stuff, but I
- 29:27still got my voice. I still got a
- 29:29connection with God. And he promised me
- 29:31that he wouldn't leave me nor forsake
- 29:34me. That he would be with me until the
- 29:36end. And you need to know that.
- 29:39[Applause]
- 29:45That's all I came to tell you
- 29:47today. Don't
- 29:49compromise. Don't
- 29:51compromise. Make it your business that
- 29:53you are not going to compromise. that
- 29:56you going to respect your covenant, that
- 29:58you going to do what you need to do and
- 30:00refuse dead things,
- 30:03[Music]
- 30:05and you going to stay up
- 30:07and you going to stay up. Heads are
- 30:09bowed, eyes are closed.
- 30:12Believers, let's pray. up.
