- 1:28Speaker 1: to Money Making Conversations, my man, Anthony Hamilton's Hello, how
- 1:34Speaker 1: are you anthy long time my friend, long time, Yes, man,
- 1:38Speaker 1: I think we've we've all been, uh on our journey
- 1:41Speaker 1: and it's beautiful man, to see all this happening for
- 1:44Speaker 1: you and uh, you know, I'm excited to be on
- 1:47Speaker 1: the show. Thank you for coming on the show. And
- 1:49Speaker 1: this shows about entrepreneurship right that. I think that's why
- 1:51Speaker 1: it's really gaining such popularity now, Anthony, because this just
- 1:55Speaker 1: allows artists, especially sometimes people just want you to be
- 1:58Speaker 1: the artists. They don't want to hear the story about
- 2:01Speaker 1: your entrepreneurship background and the other layers of your life
- 2:05Speaker 1: and charities and things like that, and the various artists
- 2:08Speaker 1: and and CEOs and interested decision makers know they can't
- 2:11Speaker 1: come on money making conversations and then get their story told,
- 2:14Speaker 1: and they can tell it in a relax format and
- 2:17Speaker 1: not walking away from your success. But also you have
- 2:20Speaker 1: other layers of success correct exactly, Yeah, branching out. You know,
- 2:26Speaker 1: sometimes people don't expect it when they when they just
- 2:28Speaker 1: know you for one one thing. Um. But being a
- 2:32Speaker 1: business person, I think you always have these creative ideas
- 2:35Speaker 1: that you want to embark on. It. It's just exciting
- 2:39Speaker 1: to be able to do something else but that. But
- 2:43Speaker 1: that's that's that's the cool thing about life today because
- 2:46Speaker 1: of the fact that you know, especially with social media,
- 2:48Speaker 1: because I want to talk about social media and your brand,
- 2:51Speaker 1: because you know, you come into you know, you just
- 2:53Speaker 1: you have one dream that's just be a music artist
- 2:55Speaker 1: and get your songs played on the radio, get that
- 2:58Speaker 1: to become gold, get that to become gladden, to sell
- 3:00Speaker 1: out arenas. But now you have this other social media,
- 3:03Speaker 1: this this brand relationship that you have with your fans
- 3:07Speaker 1: is not like a fan club. It's like it's immediate.
- 3:10Speaker 1: How does how has that impacted your career, Well, you
- 3:13Speaker 1: get to to really you know here and and read
- 3:18Speaker 1: what people really think, see it, feel it. Um. People
- 3:22Speaker 1: are post videos that I'm sending their songs or teptimonies
- 3:25Speaker 1: about how the music has changed their lives. And you know,
- 3:29Speaker 1: you get to see them at the shows that we
- 3:31Speaker 1: post the videos of them enjoying your live performances. It's
- 3:37Speaker 1: excited now when you do that. With that being said,
- 3:40Speaker 1: what just the difference today for a musical artist? Because
- 3:43Speaker 1: I get that all the time because they know what
- 3:45Speaker 1: I've done in the business. So I'm constantly being approached
- 3:47Speaker 1: by people to manage their careers or give them advice.
- 3:50Speaker 1: And there's so many different layers, so I can I
- 3:53Speaker 1: just know when I started writing on and sitcoms and
- 3:56Speaker 1: three and what you're doing when I'm doing today, it's
- 3:59Speaker 1: totally different. So I can assume that if you were
- 4:02Speaker 1: breaking into the musical business today, what is different? What
- 4:06Speaker 1: are the major obstacles? Are the major opportunities that the
- 4:11Speaker 1: young musical artists listening to this show that you will
- 4:13Speaker 1: give them advice on. Not only can you be successful
- 4:18Speaker 1: that being you know a musician songs right or a producer,
- 4:22Speaker 1: but also you can also get into advertisement m hm.
- 4:29Speaker 1: When you have a lot of people following you, people
- 4:34Speaker 1: brands come to you and and they want to they
- 4:37Speaker 1: want to be a part of that, want to be
- 4:40Speaker 1: a part of the movement. They want to be a
- 4:41Speaker 1: part of your fans so that they can sell this products.
- 4:45Speaker 1: So you become now a different entity. Um. You know,
- 4:49Speaker 1: it's almost like how Oprah Show was like major right,
- 4:54Speaker 1: you know, to get part of that space and and
- 4:56Speaker 1: and that energy and that you know, and that that
- 5:00Speaker 1: exchange there probably be a part of that. You've become
- 5:03Speaker 1: a different kind of entity now and you can sell
- 5:06Speaker 1: things outside of the music. You can you know, you
- 5:09Speaker 1: can really pretty much set up a store, um, being
- 5:14Speaker 1: an entertainer now and you get a chance to to
- 5:18Speaker 1: share your music with people who would never ever uh
- 5:23Speaker 1: I think twice about you know, then during it off
- 5:26Speaker 1: outside of their own comfort and go into the world.
- 5:29Speaker 1: You can you can add Ran to the to their
- 5:32Speaker 1: world and vice versa. It's really interesting when you say that,
- 5:37Speaker 1: because uh, you know my world. You know, entertainment, you know,
- 5:42Speaker 1: bigger part of the entertainment was managing Steve Harvey doing
- 5:46Speaker 1: TV shows, during the radio, all these different platforms and
- 5:49Speaker 1: and create a relationship. How many favors you've done for me,
- 5:52Speaker 1: for the Hoodie Awards or the Neighborhood Awards, coming there
- 5:55Speaker 1: and changing people's lives and they were entrepreneurs. That's why
- 5:58Speaker 1: I always love that format because about people within the
- 6:01Speaker 1: real starts of the community. And then then I transitioned
- 6:04Speaker 1: to now I'm one that I'm an award winning baker.
- 6:06Speaker 1: So this is what you're saying, that reaching people that
- 6:09Speaker 1: you will never see follow you. It's that you know,
- 6:12Speaker 1: I'm reaching people in Montana, Idaho, Lord, Alabama, Nevada because
- 6:18Speaker 1: I'm a baker. And when I started seeing you start
- 6:21Speaker 1: putting these pictures out of these photos, these videos out
- 6:23Speaker 1: about you cooking, you know, you know you. I've reached
- 6:28Speaker 1: out to your manager, Eli. I said, Eli, I gotta
- 6:31Speaker 1: get in touch with Anthony. You want to all this
- 6:32Speaker 1: cooking going on it, tell us about that, tell us
- 6:34Speaker 1: about that. You know, I'm a Southern guy man from Charlotte,
- 6:38Speaker 1: North Carolina, and cooking has always been a very important
- 6:42Speaker 1: part of our culture, and you know, people and a
- 6:47Speaker 1: way to express yourself when you didn't have much, you
- 6:49Speaker 1: had a good meal or you had a meal because
- 6:53Speaker 1: you're you're from a single mam, you're ready by a
- 6:55Speaker 1: single mom correct, yeah, yeah yeah, and then later on adopted.
- 7:01Speaker 1: So you know I have I've had it both of
- 7:03Speaker 1: those expenses. But cooking is a way that I expressed
- 7:08Speaker 1: myself and extend who I am. Um. I like this.
- 7:11Speaker 1: I like different flavors and and and and and taste, smells,
- 7:18Speaker 1: experience and combinations of of of plates that I can
- 7:23Speaker 1: express myself like I might do curry corn with the
- 7:26Speaker 1: with the big keyback. He's showing that. Now I'll infuse
- 7:34Speaker 1: my master tatoes with with with the sweet corn puree.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Just you know, just different ways to to be creative.
- 7:43Speaker 1: So food has always been very very uh okay, okay, okay, okay, okay,
- 7:49Speaker 1: pad Labella got her cookie show, yes, sir, okay. Now
- 7:54Speaker 1: are we headed in the direction? Because look at it.
- 7:57Speaker 1: You know, you got the social media filing, you got
- 7:59Speaker 1: the brand, you got the name, and see you we
- 8:01Speaker 1: wasn't throwing out them a little simple you know, he
- 8:03Speaker 1: was these words and huge. You know that that's a cook.
- 8:06Speaker 1: I would never use that word. I'm just there to eat.
- 8:09Speaker 1: I just baked you using those really really you know
- 8:12Speaker 1: those those those those those those cool andary terms you
- 8:15Speaker 1: know in your whole scenario so so so so tell
- 8:19Speaker 1: us about what's what you're really doing here, Anthony, are
- 8:22Speaker 1: we're gonna be on TV cooking? You know what the
- 8:26Speaker 1: opportunity is there? I will, I will definitely look into it.
- 8:33Speaker 1: I definitely want to put out a cookbook, a different
- 8:37Speaker 1: style of cookbook, just drawing on with African American expressions
- 8:42Speaker 1: out of San Francisco. And you know, I think that
- 8:46Speaker 1: will be the platform. They have a large a large
- 8:51Speaker 1: retail right right there, and uh, my fans, it fits.
- 8:57Speaker 1: It's my brand. So I start off with a cookbook,
- 9:00Speaker 1: get the people interested. Um, you know, then you start
- 9:04Speaker 1: off with this cookbook? Did get everybody in? Because because
- 9:06Speaker 1: you know we're already interested. I'm just gonna let you
- 9:08Speaker 1: know that right now because you know my wife she
- 9:11Speaker 1: loves fish, so you you just don't right into her
- 9:14Speaker 1: her men, you see, bads, you know what I'm saying.
- 9:17Speaker 1: So so so, with that being said, what what what
- 9:23Speaker 1: what would a cookbook look like coming from Anthony Hamilton?
- 9:27Speaker 1: Would they have desserts in it? Would they have breads?
- 9:29Speaker 1: Would it just be entree types or derbs or what?
- 9:33Speaker 1: Would it be appetizers? It would not I would be
- 9:36Speaker 1: four four meals. Um, that would be some some paring.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Would it be a good dessert with a good meal,
- 9:43Speaker 1: or a good wine with a good meal, good kanyak
- 9:47Speaker 1: with a good meal and good music? That was definitely yeah.
- 9:54Speaker 1: I love it this man, I've loved this Anthony half
- 9:56Speaker 1: to her brother, I'll tell yourself. I'm gonna call Eli now.
- 9:59Speaker 1: I'm saying, hey, man, let's get if you have time.
- 10:02Speaker 1: If you have time, because y'all know you're at the Tory,
- 10:04Speaker 1: You're never gonna walk away from your first love, which
- 10:06Speaker 1: is music. But the way you're talking, man, you are
- 10:10Speaker 1: for real cook man, chef. They's gonna put that title
- 10:13Speaker 1: on top of that. We're gonna be right right back
- 10:15Speaker 1: more talking about a lot more of the the entrepreneur
- 10:18Speaker 1: endeavors of Anthony Hamilton's. He's awesome though, We'll be right back.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Don't go nowhere, Anthony Hamilton's on the phone, Chef Hamilton's
- 10:24Speaker 1: I should say, I just ro Sean McDonald, I'm back
- 10:28Speaker 1: money making conversation on the phone Anthony Hamilton's or should
- 10:31Speaker 1: I say Chef Hamilton's Anthony. With that being said, where
- 10:34Speaker 1: can we uh? Is their website out now? That that's
- 10:38Speaker 1: start to uh take advantage of your entrepreneurship. But it's
- 10:40Speaker 1: all tied to your your your main website. Well, yeah,
- 10:44Speaker 1: you can go through my main and I'm on chef
- 10:47Speaker 1: dot com, h e f d dot com. Um when
- 10:52Speaker 1: you can see the food and all that American African
- 10:55Speaker 1: American expressions. They have their their website as well, and
- 11:00Speaker 1: uh okay, so let me just slow down here, Okay,
- 11:04Speaker 1: this this chef thing, So let me just tell you
- 11:06Speaker 1: about Rushan McDonald because I'm really in the food with
- 11:08Speaker 1: my face, with my social media almost a million social
- 11:11Speaker 1: media follows. Like on Tuesday, I do a baker spotlight,
- 11:15Speaker 1: and then on Wednesday I do I post a tasty
- 11:19Speaker 1: video or some recipe. Then on then on Friday, I
- 11:23Speaker 1: do another baker spotlight. Okay, then on Saturday, it's very talented,
- 11:27Speaker 1: the guy called the Chef of Ludgeon know, I post
- 11:29Speaker 1: his cooking video and it does very well. And then
- 11:33Speaker 1: on Sunday I do a delice video. And so when
- 11:37Speaker 1: I'm saying, if you got videos out there, Anthony, and
- 11:40Speaker 1: you're trying to get the brand out there, I put
- 11:43Speaker 1: you on my schedule and give you a day to
- 11:46Speaker 1: not and and and push and I'm not I'm just
- 11:49Speaker 1: saying that's what I do now. I do. I do
- 11:51Speaker 1: money making conversations on my social media site, and I
- 11:53Speaker 1: do my food. And it's and and you know, of course,
- 11:56Speaker 1: because when you do food, that means that seven of
- 11:59Speaker 1: my followers are female and uh, I'm just letting you know.
- 12:04Speaker 1: And they love it. They love it and so so
- 12:06Speaker 1: like I said, I'm a baker. And so that's why
- 12:07Speaker 1: I brought Chef Gernard onto my site on on Saturdays
- 12:11Speaker 1: because he cooks. And so I'm not gonna go into
- 12:13Speaker 1: that lane. So if you're having video, if you if
- 12:16Speaker 1: you're driving people to that, let me get with elt
- 12:19Speaker 1: to say, hey, man, just start sending me some weekly
- 12:21Speaker 1: videos that you're doing and I started posting them on
- 12:24Speaker 1: my social media and driving your traffic. If you're comfortable
- 12:26Speaker 1: with that, hey, let's get that's that's it's a great
- 12:30Speaker 1: conversation to start and it will be a great platform. Yeah,
- 12:33Speaker 1: because I'm doing it, and so it's not nothing unnatural
- 12:35Speaker 1: to me. You feel me and and and I really
- 12:41Speaker 1: and I'm really excited about what you're saying and what
- 12:44Speaker 1: you're trying to do because it's real and it's gonna
- 12:46Speaker 1: be very, very growth oriented. So I want to transition
- 12:50Speaker 1: a little bit to you said it earlier. African American
- 12:53Speaker 1: expressions that said greeting cards, calendars, journals explain about that relationship.
- 12:58Speaker 1: And when you said greeting cards, we're talking about you know,
- 13:00Speaker 1: Valentine's Day, called Mother's Day, called Christmas cards. When you
- 13:04Speaker 1: say greeting cards and calendars and journals, tell us how
- 13:07Speaker 1: that's all gonna work out of the Anthony Hamilton's brand. Absolutely.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Uh expression is what I do through through songs, through
- 13:15Speaker 1: a performing and and people come to me all the
- 13:18Speaker 1: time about my lyrics. So I was like, you know what,
- 13:21Speaker 1: it's already set up for me to uh to use
- 13:24Speaker 1: my words and my boys. Why not extended through greeting cards?
- 13:29Speaker 1: But the beat, holidays or just so simple. I appreciate
- 13:33Speaker 1: you and and and love you and uh and and
- 13:37Speaker 1: coming from from me, stop from Hallmark. I express it,
- 13:43Speaker 1: you know, from my people and to my people in
- 13:46Speaker 1: a way that they wouldn't normally understand. Uh. So I
- 13:51Speaker 1: got with a African American expression, and I felt like
- 13:54Speaker 1: it was a good marriage. It's an excell American like
- 13:57Speaker 1: you said, it's a it's a conference zone to you
- 13:59Speaker 1: because you've always been an advocate for social change, always
- 14:04Speaker 1: a voice on the front line of you know what
- 14:07Speaker 1: I'm saying, this is not right? And what what drives
- 14:11Speaker 1: you in that direction? It makes you be so consistent
- 14:14Speaker 1: with that tone. I think when you see uh, I
- 14:20Speaker 1: think when you see anybody, a group of people, uh,
- 14:25Speaker 1: a race of people mhm being mistreated or you know,
- 14:31Speaker 1: look down upon and uh and you feel it's not right.
- 14:36Speaker 1: You want to have justice and so much injustice surrounding
- 14:40Speaker 1: how we'll be treated and how we looked at and
- 14:43Speaker 1: our value and have them changed. After whial you this
- 14:47Speaker 1: you have to be you have to be drawn to do.
- 14:50Speaker 1: You have to be affected by it. And uh, I
- 14:53Speaker 1: thank you. And I'm a father of six boys. I
- 14:55Speaker 1: don't want them brought up in the world with that
- 14:57Speaker 1: same ignorant mentality, So why not speak on it while
- 15:02Speaker 1: I have a a platform and a lot of people
- 15:05Speaker 1: with power with you know, I can make a change.
- 15:10Speaker 1: So when I use my boy and that's important because
- 15:13Speaker 1: I'm a parent, and you know, because you know you
- 15:16Speaker 1: when you when you're when you're a parent, there's so
- 15:18Speaker 1: many goals in life. You know, you first want a
- 15:20Speaker 1: healthy child, and then you want to raise that child
- 15:23Speaker 1: to be respectful. And then when they go to high school,
- 15:27Speaker 1: you want them to get through that process because you know,
- 15:29Speaker 1: you're as we all have all personal high school experiences,
- 15:33Speaker 1: and when they go to college, it's kind of like
- 15:36Speaker 1: the the the unnerving part. You want them to walk
- 15:38Speaker 1: away and you want to outlive your kids. That's the goal.
- 15:41Speaker 1: You don't want to bury your kids. You want to
- 15:43Speaker 1: outlive there. And you don't want your children to have
- 15:45Speaker 1: any negative experiences. And the fact that you have six
- 15:48Speaker 1: boys that carries even bigger burden because guess what when
- 15:51Speaker 1: you look at the local news, these are the African
- 15:55Speaker 1: American young males are the ones being traumatized by the police.
- 15:58Speaker 1: So emotionally, how does that just how do you deal
- 16:01Speaker 1: with that as a as a father? And what do
- 16:03Speaker 1: you tell your your boys when you see stuff like
- 16:06Speaker 1: that happening almost on a weekly basis in the media.
- 16:09Speaker 1: And then there and then there are quiddles that for
- 16:12Speaker 1: us who watched the videos go how could that happen?
- 16:16Speaker 1: First of all, it pisses me off, and then second,
- 16:19Speaker 1: you know, I calmed down when I said, you know what,
- 16:24Speaker 1: being angry ain't gonna always get me the results I need.
- 16:27Speaker 1: So I need for them to think through it all.
- 16:30Speaker 1: So I'm like, your gold every day is to get
- 16:33Speaker 1: home safely, unharmed and uh and to outthinks your enemy. Um,
- 16:41Speaker 1: and then it ain't all about boasting up and and
- 16:45Speaker 1: let ego getting away. I think intelligence, intelligence and and
- 16:50Speaker 1: class and can go a long way. And then sometimes
- 16:55Speaker 1: you push out pushed out of your your comfort zone
- 16:57Speaker 1: and out of the those elements. But you have to
- 17:03Speaker 1: maintain uh certain amount of calm. It's a certain amount
- 17:07Speaker 1: of um level. End that's really key, that's really yeah things.
- 17:17Speaker 1: And then I think the key you said was just
- 17:19Speaker 1: get home, Just get home, don't don't don't let pride
- 17:22Speaker 1: interrupt the journey. And the journey is to get home.
- 17:26Speaker 1: And uh if yessir needs to be said, yes, sir,
- 17:28Speaker 1: you know the follow the rules to the back. And
- 17:31Speaker 1: that's that's what I do. You know that quite frankly,
- 17:34Speaker 1: anytime I'm pulled over, you know, I'm nervous and I
- 17:38Speaker 1: like to believe that I've done nothing wrong. And so
- 17:40Speaker 1: I'm gonna follow the rules and and and and hopefully
- 17:44Speaker 1: if I follow the rules, that I'm going to be
- 17:46Speaker 1: allowed to go on my way, and that's really the key.
- 17:49Speaker 1: And I think that not saying I'm not I'm not
- 17:51Speaker 1: putting any title onto other situations. All I know is
- 17:55Speaker 1: that the bottom line. One thing that you're saying, get
- 17:58Speaker 1: home saying that's the bottom line. So I'm trying to
- 18:00Speaker 1: switch gears right here, because you know you've been sporting
- 18:02Speaker 1: these hatlines. Here another entrepreneurship lane for you, these hats.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Now you've been styling them, anthon that you you have
- 18:09Speaker 1: a hat line out there, come on that. I am
- 18:12Speaker 1: in the process of working on that and it's, uh,
- 18:15Speaker 1: that's one of my one of my babies. Um, I
- 18:18Speaker 1: can't wait. We're in conversations with a few people and uh,
- 18:22Speaker 1: the perfect marriage, it will come or close to the
- 18:25Speaker 1: perfect marriage. Who come, and we'll make the best of it. Um,
- 18:28Speaker 1: but it's time. It's time to that. Like you said,
- 18:31Speaker 1: I wear I've been wearing other folks hats, right, you've
- 18:35Speaker 1: been you've been sporting them, you've been styling them. You know,
- 18:40Speaker 1: you know, photo of shoots, album covers, all that stuff. Man. Yeah,
- 18:45Speaker 1: so now it's it's time for me to uh and
- 18:48Speaker 1: build my own. Well, you're the thing I like about
- 18:51Speaker 1: this conversation because you are a successful touring performer venues
- 18:55Speaker 1: three thousand, six thousand, ten thousand sea facilities on a
- 18:59Speaker 1: you know, monthly basis, and so these items that you're
- 19:03Speaker 1: talking about, whether it's the greeting cards with a headline,
- 19:06Speaker 1: you know, these things can be sold to your fans
- 19:09Speaker 1: on tour. And so it's just a natural revenue generation
- 19:14Speaker 1: generating process that you're developing here. And I just really,
- 19:18Speaker 1: I really, I really like the way you're you're taking
- 19:20Speaker 1: your brand and you just designing to hate or something.
- 19:23Speaker 1: It's time for me to make revenue off the stage.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Make revenue while I'm sleepy. That's the big picture now, correct, Anthony.
- 19:30Speaker 1: That is the big picture. And uh, if you're gonna
- 19:33Speaker 1: be successful, you have to be making money while you're sleeping.
- 19:37Speaker 1: It just it just makes sense. It just it takes
- 19:40Speaker 1: the stress off you and sets up, you know, a
- 19:45Speaker 1: legacy and you know, providing these opportunities while you rest.
- 19:51Speaker 1: I think when you're chasing and chasing and chasing, you
- 19:54Speaker 1: don't get the rest you need and you don't think
- 19:55Speaker 1: properly when you when you're under the gun every time.
- 19:58Speaker 1: So while you're resting, if you're making money there's a
- 20:01Speaker 1: different comfortably wake up. Well, I'm gona tell you something.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Chef Hamilton's, Um, I'm gonna reach out to ELI and
- 20:07Speaker 1: tell them, hey, man, start sending me some videos so
- 20:10Speaker 1: I can start posting them on a weekly basis. I'm
- 20:13Speaker 1: not one of them, one of them guys who just
- 20:14Speaker 1: do it off on one one out Chef Hamilton's, We're
- 20:18Speaker 1: gonna do this on a regular basis if you want
- 20:20Speaker 1: to all. I just know that that's my that's my genre,
- 20:23Speaker 1: that's my that's that's what people follow me. My my
- 20:26Speaker 1: program director always laugh because people will say, do you
- 20:28Speaker 1: know what they guys, they know nothing about Steve Harvey,
- 20:31Speaker 1: they know nothing about money making conversation, but they know
- 20:33Speaker 1: I bake and he always laughs. And I just know
- 20:36Speaker 1: that this is something you're building. Paddler bells and Walmart.
- 20:40Speaker 1: You can be a Walmart. Two brother, let's keep winning. Ye,
- 20:43Speaker 1: let's do it. Man. I appreciate this. And uh, I
- 20:46Speaker 1: can't wait to take some of those those pies and cake.
- 20:49Speaker 1: I'm on the real deal. We're gonna make that happen. Congratulations, man.
- 20:52Speaker 1: And I talk to him also about that TV show.
- 20:54Speaker 1: You got a lot of that's going on Anthony. I'm
- 20:56Speaker 1: just sorry man, Jeff Hamilton, y'all money making conversations. He's
