- 3:36Speaker 1: something I don't know if I do that, but he did.
- 3:39Speaker 1: And we're gonna talk about how a board five beta
- 3:43Speaker 1: capital you know he's smart not you know he's smart
- 3:46Speaker 1: went to island and hung out there half naked for
- 3:49Speaker 1: for a whole season. Please work with the money making conversation,
- 3:52Speaker 1: Window Holland how you doing Window appreciate there is when
- 4:00Speaker 1: the way you based there right now? Philadelphia Man, Philadelphia
- 4:03Speaker 1: born and raised except for school and except for Survivor. Okay,
- 4:06Speaker 1: so you were born and raised there, but you came
- 4:08Speaker 1: to college, came down to Atlanta for college. Yeah. Man,
- 4:10Speaker 1: I had to go to the best you know, I
- 4:12Speaker 1: had to go to the best school. So I had
- 4:14Speaker 1: to come to the a town and get my get
- 4:17Speaker 1: my education. That more, get that good southern food, you know,
- 4:20Speaker 1: get that good southern food on. And you went back
- 4:22Speaker 1: up the Philly home of the Super Bowl champions for
- 4:25Speaker 1: Philadelphia Eagles. Yes, yes, and you're champion. Now let's talk
- 4:31Speaker 1: about your world champion, the city's world champions. You know,
- 4:35Speaker 1: you're fighting for baseball, your your basketball team. So Philadelphia
- 4:40Speaker 1: is winning a city of winners, and you represent the thinking.
- 4:44Speaker 1: That's what you represent that. You know, my boy Kevin Hart,
- 4:47Speaker 1: he's a winner. He from Now they gotta put you
- 4:51Speaker 1: got the Rocky statue downtown, you know right there. I
- 4:55Speaker 1: hope you took a selfie with that when you wanted
- 4:57Speaker 1: to survivor. You know, you know I did, you know,
- 4:58Speaker 1: I did? I have a good I have a good
- 5:00Speaker 1: fixture right next to the Rocky statute. Man. So so
- 5:05Speaker 1: let's talk about it. Okay, you did survivor thirty six
- 5:08Speaker 1: Season thirty six season of Survivor. You have been wanting
- 5:12Speaker 1: to do this show for a long time. Tell us
- 5:15Speaker 1: why So? I've always been um kind of a well
- 5:20Speaker 1: growing up, I like to build like tree houses and
- 5:22Speaker 1: you know, play around in my parents backyard. And I
- 5:25Speaker 1: guess about ten years ago, I started watching this show Survivor,
- 5:29Speaker 1: and I'm like, man, it's it looks like a difficult show,
- 5:32Speaker 1: but it looks like a show that I could put
- 5:34Speaker 1: all of my talents two And it looks like a
- 5:37Speaker 1: show I could do pretty well at because I'm I
- 5:39Speaker 1: was pretty smart, pretty athletic, I played a lot of sports,
- 5:42Speaker 1: pretty social, have a lot of friends, And I'm like, man,
- 5:45Speaker 1: this game requires all those abilities, so maybe I could
- 5:49Speaker 1: maybe I could try my hand at it. Okay, cool,
- 5:52Speaker 1: So so let's let's let's the stage has been set.
- 5:54Speaker 1: We know he's smart five Beta Kappa at the incredible
- 5:57Speaker 1: Mallhouse College and at Latin George y'all okay, law school
- 6:02Speaker 1: at University of Pennsylvania. He talking to Okay, we know
- 6:06Speaker 1: he did you get around. So now he's been wanting
- 6:09Speaker 1: to do this for like ten years. So he was
- 6:10Speaker 1: looking at you. So there was a planned action. You
- 6:13Speaker 1: you just like didn't stumble up on this so well?
- 6:15Speaker 1: You rejected several times? Did you apply several times? Explain
- 6:19Speaker 1: tell us about that? So at Morehouse I learned the
- 6:22Speaker 1: saying proper preparation prevents poor performance. Right. So I've been
- 6:27Speaker 1: watching the show for years and wanting to get on
- 6:30Speaker 1: the show. So as I watched it, I was taking
- 6:33Speaker 1: notes for years on a strategy, how I would play,
- 6:36Speaker 1: how I would react to certain situations, what have you?
- 6:40Speaker 1: And I started started up playing, I'd say, like seven
- 6:43Speaker 1: years ago. And over the years I sent in many
- 6:46Speaker 1: application videos. I went to live contings. I never got
- 6:50Speaker 1: it through. Like, uh, when I was out of law school,
- 6:54Speaker 1: I was clerking for a few judges in Philly. I
- 6:56Speaker 1: never got it. I had my shoeing turn on. I
- 6:58Speaker 1: was clean cut then and I never got it. And
- 7:01Speaker 1: then finally I'll take this career path change and I'll
- 7:04Speaker 1: started my own company, and I grew out an unfriend,
- 7:06Speaker 1: I got my beard, I'm kind of living my full
- 7:08Speaker 1: life and they finally say we want this version of Window,
- 7:12Speaker 1: we want you to come on the show. So that
- 7:14Speaker 1: I think it was the preparation and also the persistence
- 7:17Speaker 1: and me not giving up and me continuing to apply
- 7:20Speaker 1: and apply and apply. Well, I think also the fact
- 7:22Speaker 1: that you made a statement there a transition. I feel
- 7:26Speaker 1: you became who you are today. You know, like you said,
- 7:29Speaker 1: you know, you didn't come in there, come into could
- 7:31Speaker 1: this survival? You're on the island, you said you were
- 7:33Speaker 1: coming in that clean cut. That's a look that don't
- 7:35Speaker 1: work on That is because you're pulling off your clothes.
- 7:38Speaker 1: The tide going somewhere, it's not gonna stay on you,
- 7:41Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So, so that look right there.
- 7:44Speaker 1: They said, well, he we like him, but I don't
- 7:46Speaker 1: really think he get it because they want you to survive.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Because I'm a big fan of these shows. Another one
- 7:51Speaker 1: of my favorite shows, Naked and Afraid. I love that show.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Oh I love that show. Now you get on that
- 7:56Speaker 1: show window, Now you're gonna be the real I think,
- 8:02Speaker 1: I think trying to start a fire. And I'm saying
- 8:05Speaker 1: so so so, I appreciate the fact that you're showing
- 8:09Speaker 1: everybody that even in this television show, you had to
- 8:12Speaker 1: put in preparation, you had to examine and have a
- 8:15Speaker 1: plan of action. And the key thing you said was persistency.
- 8:19Speaker 1: And also what you said was key to me and
- 8:21Speaker 1: hearing this process is that you made a transition in
- 8:24Speaker 1: your life. Let's talk about that, because you're doing everything
- 8:28Speaker 1: that people tell you to do. I used to work
- 8:29Speaker 1: for IBM before I became a stand up comic, and
- 8:32Speaker 1: before I did, I left for stand up comic. I
- 8:34Speaker 1: became a sitcom writer when I love a sitcom right.
- 8:36Speaker 1: I became a television producer. Then I became a manager
- 8:39Speaker 1: of talent. So that's a lot of transitions. And people
- 8:41Speaker 1: always tell me, man, you know how to reinvent yourself,
- 8:45Speaker 1: and I just tell people, I'm not afraid to step
- 8:47Speaker 1: out there, tell us about your personality windows. You can't
- 8:51Speaker 1: be afraid to step out there. You can't be afraid
- 8:54Speaker 1: to take risks and and you know, take a leap
- 8:56Speaker 1: of faith. Um calculated risks though, like, uh, I'm not
- 9:00Speaker 1: just I'm not just doing something off of a whim.
- 9:03Speaker 1: I had um when I was clerking for a few
- 9:06Speaker 1: judges in Philly. I was in civil courts, when I
- 9:09Speaker 1: was in family court, and I needed a bed for
- 9:12Speaker 1: myself and on my salary. I point, these nice are
- 9:16Speaker 1: high end beds that I really that I really wanted,
- 9:19Speaker 1: So I decided to build my own bed um and
- 9:22Speaker 1: it was. It was a beautiful piece of furniture, and
- 9:25Speaker 1: I was like, man, I have a gift right here.
- 9:27Speaker 1: This is something that I can do. And then at
- 9:29Speaker 1: the time, I started building more beds on the side.
- 9:32Speaker 1: While I was still clerking and working hard, you know,
- 9:34Speaker 1: nine to five, I started building beds and other kinds
- 9:37Speaker 1: of furniture and selling it on the side. So I'm like,
- 9:40Speaker 1: you know what, this is something that fulfills me. This
- 9:43Speaker 1: is something that I love doing. I'm using my creative
- 9:46Speaker 1: um gifts and I'm being entrepreneurial, so maybe this is
- 9:51Speaker 1: something Maybe this might be my paint. So then the
- 9:54Speaker 1: final h that I clerked for retired in UH, and
- 9:59Speaker 1: I I was like, man, this might be the perfect opportunity. Um.
- 10:03Speaker 1: My opportunity finally met my preparation, my building this business
- 10:06Speaker 1: on the side, and so finally I decided to go
- 10:09Speaker 1: full force and create this furniture company where I can
- 10:12Speaker 1: have a creative outlet. I could be the artist that
- 10:14Speaker 1: I truly am in size, be the entrepreneur that I
- 10:17Speaker 1: am and uh and do what I love, you know.
- 10:19Speaker 1: So it's just a big old This is an extreme
- 10:23Speaker 1: change okay, And first of all, how did you build
- 10:28Speaker 1: a bid man? You threw that out there like you know,
- 10:32Speaker 1: like you know, like, uh see, I build a rectors sense.
- 10:36Speaker 1: I put together hot wheel tracks. You know. I've glued
- 10:41Speaker 1: together some airplanes. You're sitting up here talking about you know,
- 10:45Speaker 1: I built my band, like what playing? What are you
- 10:49Speaker 1: going online to find out how to build? To be?
- 10:52Speaker 1: So okay, I've always been good with my hands. Let's
- 10:54Speaker 1: start off. I should have said that first. I've always
- 10:56Speaker 1: been good with my hands. I've been able to kind
- 10:59Speaker 1: of build things. My dad. Uh my dad is an attorney.
- 11:03Speaker 1: He's a retired attorney, but growing up he always had
- 11:05Speaker 1: me helping him do things like frame out the basement
- 11:08Speaker 1: drying wall, you know. So I've always been handed and
- 11:13Speaker 1: um and so I I found all these random pieces
- 11:18Speaker 1: of wood and different things that I kind of pieced
- 11:20Speaker 1: it together to make what I call this like patchwork
- 11:23Speaker 1: style headboard with like many pieces of wood, and then
- 11:25Speaker 1: I stayed the whole thing. And that has been my
- 11:29Speaker 1: aesthetic as far as my as my pieces has been
- 11:32Speaker 1: like kind of patchwucky. We used to reclaimed wood and
- 11:35Speaker 1: we learned with so there's like this reused element. It's
- 11:39Speaker 1: a recycled element that's uh environmentally friendly deconstantly element to
- 11:44Speaker 1: my company, where we we take you know, what might
- 11:47Speaker 1: be considered junk, like, well we'll tear down a barn.
- 11:51Speaker 1: The tansition really really good, which is really really good
- 11:55Speaker 1: strong wood have survived the weather. I have to ask
- 11:58Speaker 1: you this. Now you are there's a sets for laws
- 12:01Speaker 1: and then you know people always think you're crazy anyway.
- 12:03Speaker 1: You know, first of all your law, you're now you're
- 12:05Speaker 1: making furniture. Now you want to go over here and
- 12:07Speaker 1: do survival? What was that? What was that conversation life
- 12:11Speaker 1: when it hit the streets? Mr black Man? Okay, okay,
- 12:15Speaker 1: So so my parent, I guess, you know, my parents
- 12:19Speaker 1: had had known that I've been watching this show and
- 12:22Speaker 1: kind of a plane. But they seem me, you know,
- 12:26Speaker 1: you know, practicing make it fun her outside and doing
- 12:28Speaker 1: these things. But I don't think they really thought that
- 12:31Speaker 1: I would actually get let alone get fur and let
- 12:34Speaker 1: alone win the game. So um, I when I finally
- 12:38Speaker 1: got the call that I was gonna be on the show,
- 12:41Speaker 1: I told me I sent an email to my my mother,
- 12:44Speaker 1: my father, and I have an older and the younger sister.
- 12:46Speaker 1: I said, hey, guys, all his work finally paid off.
- 12:50Speaker 1: You guys know, I've been applying and applying for Survivor,
- 12:52Speaker 1: and I finally I got the call of going out
- 12:55Speaker 1: on the island in two months. And they were they
- 12:58Speaker 1: were pretty shocked. You know that, I can't believe this
- 13:00Speaker 1: is really happening. They knew that I had a final
- 13:04Speaker 1: casting in l A. They knew I was flown out there,
- 13:06Speaker 1: but I don't know if they really thought that I
- 13:08Speaker 1: was really gonna make it. And so they were pretty shocks.
- 13:11Speaker 1: But at the same time, they know the person I am.
- 13:13Speaker 1: They know that I'm good at like I'm a hustler,
- 13:16Speaker 1: I'm gonnat navigating different situations. I'm gonna talking to different people.
- 13:20Speaker 1: I'm pretty athletic, I'm pretty smart. They're like, we know,
- 13:23Speaker 1: wherever we put you, you're gonna you're gonna be all right.
- 13:26Speaker 1: You're gonna rid that. They yeah, you're gonna rise exactly.
- 13:30Speaker 1: And uh, I think that. You know, in the game
- 13:32Speaker 1: of survivance, it's a lot you but it's also a
- 13:35Speaker 1: lot of luck. In my seat, there was a lot
- 13:37Speaker 1: of God. It was God's plan for me to get
- 13:39Speaker 1: through a lot of things, and I found my way
- 13:43Speaker 1: to the top. I found my way to the end
- 13:45Speaker 1: and I got it done. What was the prize money?
- 13:47Speaker 1: What what did you do? Man? Man? So the prize
- 13:51Speaker 1: money was a million dollars and um that was that
- 13:54Speaker 1: was a great tex to get. But what I've done is, um,
- 14:00Speaker 1: I talked to my father. We we filmed like a
- 14:03Speaker 1: year ago, and then it took like found months to air,
- 14:06Speaker 1: so I kind of I kind of had a good
- 14:08Speaker 1: feeling that although they then reveal the win live, you know,
- 14:13Speaker 1: at the end of the season, I had a good
- 14:15Speaker 1: feeling that I had won. So I went home and
- 14:17Speaker 1: I told one person. I talked to my dad and
- 14:19Speaker 1: I said, Hey, Dad, I think I might I think
- 14:23Speaker 1: I might have got the job done out there. Can
- 14:25Speaker 1: you give me some advice on how to invest this money,
- 14:28Speaker 1: because I don't want to be one of these guys
- 14:30Speaker 1: that gets a big check and blows it. So he
- 14:33Speaker 1: took me to his financial planner. Um. They it's like
- 14:38Speaker 1: an investment group called the Pennsylvania Trust, and he kind
- 14:41Speaker 1: of introduced me to those guys. But then finally thoughtscorn
- 14:44Speaker 1: to when I finally win and get the check. I went, Um,
- 14:47Speaker 1: I took the million dollar check right to this company,
- 14:50Speaker 1: and I invested it, and so now I am fully
- 14:53Speaker 1: invested in a diversity stock portfolio. It shouldn't it shouldn't
- 14:57Speaker 1: stocks just watching it roll off that stock it's on
- 15:01Speaker 1: fire right now. That's it. That's it. And so in April,
- 15:06Speaker 1: in April, I'm gonna take a big hit and I
- 15:08Speaker 1: gotta pay the about that's a big hit. But until then,
- 15:14Speaker 1: at least that that amount of money is still gonna
- 15:16Speaker 1: ac cruel interest. You go talk to a tax planner,
- 15:21Speaker 1: get your fine benefit plan. I'm telling fine benefit plan.
- 15:26Speaker 1: You can take that four hundred and put it in
- 15:28Speaker 1: there and you don't pay them nothing. Okay, Okay, just
- 15:32Speaker 1: just think this out. A lot of people think you
- 15:33Speaker 1: gotta pay taxes and everything, and that's there there, there's
- 15:36Speaker 1: strategic strategic angles of this is legitimate. I don't. I
- 15:41Speaker 1: don't give our bad advice to my show unless it's
- 15:44Speaker 1: a lifestyle that I participate in. But don't feel that
- 15:47Speaker 1: you can give away that whole four hundred thousand. Okay, alright,
- 15:52Speaker 1: So define benefit plan. Okay, it's something you have to
- 15:56Speaker 1: keep up going. But you you you got a business,
- 15:58Speaker 1: you got a charity engagement, you're dealing with so just
- 16:01Speaker 1: just don't do it. Just don't give it away like that. Okay,
- 16:05Speaker 1: I'm glad that you told me that, my man, you
- 16:07Speaker 1: are a champion. Will Smith is a champion. He's from
- 16:10Speaker 1: Fairly Carving her It's a champion. He's from Fairly super
- 16:13Speaker 1: Bowl champion. Come on here, brother, keep winning, man. I
- 16:17Speaker 1: appreciate you calling it on money making conversations. I always
- 16:21Speaker 1: tell people to keep winning. You are a winner. Thank
- 16:24Speaker 1: you so much for the time. I appreciate you. Sorry,
- 16:26Speaker 1: all right, my brother, money making conversation the land of winners. Brother,
- 16:31Speaker 1: We'll be right back. More from John McDonald and money
- 16:34Speaker 1: making conversations. Don't touch that doubt. When I was an
- 16:37Speaker 1: FBI agent, I was aware of home title fraud. There
- 16:41Speaker 1: was little we could do to stop it. Now there's
- 16:43Speaker 1: home title lock. This online bank was for closing on us.
- 16:46Speaker 1: They even had documents that I signed for a home
- 16:49Speaker 1: equity loan. Only I didn't want a nightmare. I didn't
- 16:52Speaker 1: have home title lock then, but you bet I haven't now.

- 19:03Speaker 1: how are you well? John? I'm telling you I'm so
- 19:06Speaker 1: happy to have you back on the show because first
- 19:09Speaker 1: of all, we've known each other a long time. We've
- 19:11Speaker 1: actually have You've seen each other's careers are in the
- 19:15Speaker 1: public and behind the scenes, because I've run into New York.
- 19:18Speaker 1: You always engaged in some type of activism. That's that's positive.
- 19:23Speaker 1: But I think that you and I have known each
- 19:24Speaker 1: other for since I came to Los Angeles. I think
- 19:29Speaker 1: that was seriously and that when when you first got
- 19:35Speaker 1: there and we and we maintained this positive relationship and uh,
- 19:39Speaker 1: whenever we saw Joe was always good vibes and just
- 19:42Speaker 1: to see each other doing our things beyond what we
- 19:44Speaker 1: first met each other. You know, my manager Steve Harvey's
- 19:48Speaker 1: career and yours was access Hollywood. And so it's all
- 19:51Speaker 1: about being able to reinvent yourself. Also being able to
- 19:54Speaker 1: show that there are are that your talents can be
- 19:56Speaker 1: explored in other things that you want to do, and
- 19:58Speaker 1: not saying that we weren't doing what we wanted to
- 20:00Speaker 1: do back then, but there's a there's a certain amount
- 20:02Speaker 1: of versatility that you're showing with your career now. And
- 20:05Speaker 1: your platform is really really important to you and uh
- 20:09Speaker 1: and social media is really important to your brand right now. Correct. Absolutely.
- 20:14Speaker 1: And you know, remember when I first started an Act
- 20:16Speaker 1: of Hollywood, and you know this very well, we didn't
- 20:19Speaker 1: have social media. We didn't have Facebook or Twitter, Instagram, um,
- 20:25Speaker 1: and so our we were dependent upon other means to
- 20:29Speaker 1: get our messages out. But now we have control over
- 20:33Speaker 1: our own message and we can um reach the people
- 20:36Speaker 1: who support us. Our fans are supporters directly. And it's
- 20:40Speaker 1: important to you know, keep that conversation going, keep that
- 20:43Speaker 1: engagement going, because these are the people who have supported
- 20:45Speaker 1: us for so long over the years. And that's really
- 20:48Speaker 1: important because you start to tell your story and and
- 20:52Speaker 1: and that's that's really important because I'll was youll people
- 20:55Speaker 1: that you know, it took me amad when I stopped
- 20:58Speaker 1: managing Steve's I didn't know who are us? I didn't
- 21:00Speaker 1: know and people, yeah, you are your your Can you
- 21:03Speaker 1: say that? Because people will follow you a people who
- 21:06Speaker 1: they have to have a reason, they never have a
- 21:08Speaker 1: justification and emotion as to why they should follow you
- 21:11Speaker 1: or like your page, and they have to be a
- 21:13Speaker 1: consistent brand. And so what was that in your process
- 21:16Speaker 1: of building out your brand and getting your vosh together Sehn? Well,
- 21:20Speaker 1: you know that's interesting that you say that, because a
- 21:22Speaker 1: lot of times when we are attached to a name
- 21:28Speaker 1: or show, like I was attached to the show Access
- 21:31Speaker 1: Hollywood for sixteen years, and so um, there were times
- 21:36Speaker 1: when I felt even before I left in and you know,
- 21:39Speaker 1: I thought about leaving, you know, so many times before
- 21:42Speaker 1: and pursuing projects that I was really passionate about, but
- 21:46Speaker 1: I was thinking would I still be who I am
- 21:49Speaker 1: without this name behind me? And you find that when
- 21:53Speaker 1: you do take that leap of faith and you expand
- 21:57Speaker 1: You're still who you are? Okay, you you were still
- 22:00Speaker 1: who you are and you are still the person that
- 22:02Speaker 1: people connect with. So it's about for me, it was
- 22:07Speaker 1: about stepping out on the face and learning how I,
- 22:11Speaker 1: you know, continue to build that brand outside of that
- 22:15Speaker 1: particular name. And um, I was even um, you know,
- 22:22Speaker 1: there was a point on um my social media where
- 22:26Speaker 1: I said, let me take that name off of the
- 22:29Speaker 1: social media. Okay, let me take that name on, and
- 22:32Speaker 1: can I detach from that? And that is not to
- 22:35Speaker 1: say I'm not grateful. I'm extremely grateful for the wonderful,
- 22:38Speaker 1: wonderful sixteen years that I had with the show. I
- 22:42Speaker 1: met a lot of great people. I met you and
- 22:44Speaker 1: so many other wonderful people through the show. Um, but
- 22:47Speaker 1: there was more to me and I am, you know,
- 22:51Speaker 1: finding that out now? And how do I spread my
- 22:53Speaker 1: wings and how do I step out on face? And
- 22:55Speaker 1: how do I make Sean Robinson the most well ground
- 23:00Speaker 1: did person that she can be And that that that
- 23:03Speaker 1: that's a fear, and that's fear that I had to overcome. Fear,
- 23:07Speaker 1: I'll put it on me. And because of the fact
- 23:09Speaker 1: that what advice would you give somebody who's saying at
- 23:11Speaker 1: a job, who's uh in a relationship that they should
- 23:14Speaker 1: be they should get out of? Because I always tell
- 23:16Speaker 1: people is more than just a job. When you have
- 23:18Speaker 1: to change your life, you have to change your whole
- 23:19Speaker 1: thought process. Sometimes you're in a bad relationship that just
- 23:22Speaker 1: just dragging you along because you really need to fire
- 23:25Speaker 1: or quit, just like you need to quit that job.
- 23:28Speaker 1: What what what? What advice would you give somebody somebody
- 23:32Speaker 1: to make that transition? Do they plan it out? Do
- 23:34Speaker 1: they do they just walk away and walk into they
- 23:35Speaker 1: ab out? Well, yeah, and you know it's easy, listen,
- 23:39Speaker 1: Let's be real. It's easy to make a change when
- 23:42Speaker 1: you have the resources to hold you or tied you
- 23:48Speaker 1: over you know, until you get something else going on.
- 23:51Speaker 1: I mean, that's that's easy. Um. But you know, sometimes
- 23:55Speaker 1: when it comes to a particular job, you may feel, gosh,
- 23:58Speaker 1: you know, how am I going to make it in
- 24:01Speaker 1: the meantime? And that's the in the meantime is what
- 24:05Speaker 1: you have to overcome in terms of your fear about
- 24:08Speaker 1: what's going to happen. So obviously you have to be smart,
- 24:11Speaker 1: you have to save your money, you have to be strategic, um.
- 24:14Speaker 1: But also you have to when it comes to you know,
- 24:19Speaker 1: listen with me when it comes to relationships. Um. You
- 24:22Speaker 1: know that which is not serving you is not for
- 24:25Speaker 1: your greater good. And I get my you know, I
- 24:28Speaker 1: get my face from you know, it was you know,
- 24:31Speaker 1: I go to a faithful Central Bible church with Kennessee
- 24:35Speaker 1: Omer and and listen and in wood and listen. He's
- 24:40Speaker 1: always breaking it down like there will be something that
- 24:43Speaker 1: I'm dealing with and the answer will come to me
- 24:47Speaker 1: if I stop and just be silent and be still
- 24:51Speaker 1: and pray about it. But um, you know, just with
- 24:55Speaker 1: you know, just back to the job situation. It's about
- 24:59Speaker 1: you know what, Listen, life is very short, Um. It
- 25:02Speaker 1: seems like every single year I'm hearing about somebody that
- 25:05Speaker 1: I knew. Um, you know no longer with us. So
- 25:09Speaker 1: life is very short. So do you want to stay
- 25:12Speaker 1: in this current situation for the rest of your life
- 25:15Speaker 1: because of fear? Um? And my answer is always no. Yeah.
- 25:20Speaker 1: My my answer answer to we're on the same page. Now,
- 25:23Speaker 1: here's the fun part about social media because because I
- 25:26Speaker 1: consider Shawn a friend and just watching her, you know,
- 25:30Speaker 1: to your dad picture on there, and then I see
- 25:32Speaker 1: all these others because you know, your goal is to
- 25:34Speaker 1: create engagement, and so you was at the n A
- 25:36Speaker 1: b J recently and your engagement was off the chain.
- 25:42Speaker 1: I was trying, I was trying, and so so what
- 25:46Speaker 1: was your goal just to teach people? What was the
- 25:47Speaker 1: purpose of your post when you went up there? What
- 25:50Speaker 1: was the goals when you went up there. Here's an
- 25:52Speaker 1: event your celebrity you're going to be around, a media
- 25:55Speaker 1: event is tied to you, and you know where you're
- 25:56Speaker 1: going to engage with other celebrities when you were posting.
- 26:00Speaker 1: What was the process in your post? Well, I try
- 26:03Speaker 1: to just show people. Um. Number one. Going back to
- 26:06Speaker 1: an h b J, it was in my hometown of Detroit,
- 26:08Speaker 1: so I definitely wanted to be a part of it.
- 26:10Speaker 1: And I have not been in a b J the
- 26:12Speaker 1: National Association of Black Journalist conference in years. I used
- 26:16Speaker 1: to go there at the beginning of my career, you know,
- 26:18Speaker 1: had my little resume tapes with me and I would
- 26:20Speaker 1: go down to each of the booths and have the
- 26:23Speaker 1: news directors look at my resume shapes and shred them apart,
- 26:27Speaker 1: and you know, big people for jobs, and so I
- 26:30Speaker 1: hadn't you know, needed to do that in a very
- 26:32Speaker 1: long time. Um, So this was a chance for me
- 26:37Speaker 1: to go back and uh, first of all, go back home.
- 26:41Speaker 1: And I also was asked open or host the opening
- 26:45Speaker 1: night reception for UM for the conference, which was held
- 26:50Speaker 1: on the Tuesday night before the conference began. And so
- 26:53Speaker 1: it was just a wonderful time for me to connect
- 26:55Speaker 1: with people I hadn't seen in a very very long time.
- 26:58Speaker 1: And I always think an excuse to go back home
- 27:01Speaker 1: to each other because I love the city, and the
- 27:03Speaker 1: city is on the rise and it's experiencing a renaissance
- 27:07Speaker 1: right now. You know, don't sleep on Detroit, man, I
- 27:10Speaker 1: mean it is. I mean, that is the comeback city.
- 27:13Speaker 1: And so in terms of my post, I wanted to
- 27:16Speaker 1: show people Um, you know, this is what I was doing,
- 27:19Speaker 1: not only connecting with my mom, hanging out with her
- 27:22Speaker 1: and connecting with friends and hanging out with them. But um,
- 27:26Speaker 1: I saw my There was one picture that I posted
- 27:28Speaker 1: of this woman, um Diana Lewis. She was an early
- 27:33Speaker 1: mentor of mine, and mentor in the sense I didn't
- 27:36Speaker 1: never talk to her when I was, you know, coming
- 27:39Speaker 1: up in the business, but I would watch her on
- 27:41Speaker 1: TV and seeing another black woman on TV that looked
- 27:45Speaker 1: like me was so incredibly empowering and gave me hope
- 27:49Speaker 1: that I could accomplish this too. Thank you for responding
- 27:53Speaker 1: so quickly to come on the show again to tell
- 27:55Speaker 1: her everybody about some of the things you're doing, but
- 27:57Speaker 1: debate of who you are. You are a role model
- 28:00Speaker 1: and I want to thank everybody from now your role
- 28:02Speaker 1: Mardel as an executive producer. Let everybody know that you
- 28:05Speaker 1: can transition and do things positively, go out on faith,
- 28:09Speaker 1: go with a plan, and you keep winning. Sean, I
- 28:11Speaker 1: thank you for calling my show. Thank you, Sean. Okay,
- 28:15Speaker 1: bye bye, keep winning everybody. We'll be right back with
- 28:18Speaker 1: more from McDonald and money making conversations. Don't touch that down.
- 28:24Speaker 1: When I was an FBI agent. I was aware of
- 28:26Speaker 1: home title fraud, there was little we could do to
- 28:29Speaker 1: stop it. Now there's home title lock. This online bank
- 28:32Speaker 1: was for closing on us. They even had documents that
- 28:35Speaker 1: I signed for a home equity loan. Only I didn't
- 28:38Speaker 1: want a nightmare. I didn't have home title lock then,
- 28:41Speaker 1: but you bet I haven't Now. Your homes title is
- 28:44Speaker 1: online where international thieves can find it. They'll forge your title,

- 32:20Speaker 1: be a little groupie about it is when someone that
- 32:24Speaker 1: I look at like you as a mental figure and
- 32:26Speaker 1: as a role model. Uh, calls. The first thing you wonder, okay,

- 32:36Speaker 1: just I'm humbled, I'm delighted, but beyond that, I am
- 32:40Speaker 1: very grateful to have someone with your platform and with

- 32:55Speaker 1: credit on my side to what you've done for me personally.
- 32:58Speaker 1: I was not interested in doing the radio show I
- 33:01Speaker 1: ran into in Houston, Texas. I ran into uh ivan
- 33:05Speaker 1: and a restaurant walked up to every show, How you
- 33:07Speaker 1: doing do my show? And he has a show on
- 33:10Speaker 1: at the time, And I said, I don't know. He said,
- 33:13Speaker 1: come on, man, do the show. People need to hear you.
- 33:15Speaker 1: People need to hear what you have to say. So
- 33:17Speaker 1: I did this show in Houston, Texas, and Uh, it
- 33:20Speaker 1: was great, fantastic show. Great. Uh people are lightening up
- 33:23Speaker 1: the phone called phone lines and everything. And I got off.
- 33:26Speaker 1: When I walked off air, the owners of the station
- 33:28Speaker 1: was waiting on me. I sat in their office for
- 33:30Speaker 1: two hours. Remember that, and I remember them ambushing you
- 33:35Speaker 1: is what I remember when you got off and UH
- 33:39Speaker 1: and they sat down and asked me, and I said, well,
- 33:42Speaker 1: I said, I do it, I but but I only
- 33:43Speaker 1: do it for four weeks. I do the show for
- 33:45Speaker 1: four weeks. That was in May of last year, seventeen
- 33:48Speaker 1: four weeks. So now we're at the about the uh
- 33:52Speaker 1: sixteen month mark, and we're still doing money making conversation
- 33:55Speaker 1: and I'm on the phone with a young man who
- 33:58Speaker 1: made it all happen as far as get me in.
- 34:00Speaker 1: And that's why I always tell people you never know
- 34:02Speaker 1: when your next opportunity will come. To keep an open mind,
- 34:06Speaker 1: and that that's basically what your career is all about.
- 34:08Speaker 1: Keeping an open mind. Correct, Yes, sir. But one of
- 34:12Speaker 1: the biggest things that has UH I've learned from just
- 34:16Speaker 1: many mentors you, Jleen Ricky, people like Greg Carter and
- 34:20Speaker 1: people like that, is don't get the big head work
- 34:24Speaker 1: you're brought off people. There's no such thing as being
- 34:27Speaker 1: an overnight success. Now, you can screw it up overnight,
- 34:30Speaker 1: even within two or three minutes of running your mouth.
- 34:32Speaker 1: But if you really want durable, lasting success, it's all
- 34:37Speaker 1: about living your brand and being committed and humble and
- 34:41Speaker 1: every opportunity that you get, take it serious and make
- 34:45Speaker 1: the most of it. Let's talk about because I wanted
- 34:47Speaker 1: there's several RILs because we got you for two breaks,
- 34:49Speaker 1: and I want to talk about the tedex moment. Now,
- 34:53Speaker 1: im ted X speakers. Opportunities have you had so far?
- 34:57Speaker 1: Uh so far there to that are published out there
- 35:01Speaker 1: and they will probably about three more within the next
- 35:03Speaker 1: twelve months with well, I'll just for it like this, man.
- 35:09Speaker 1: You know, it's it's rare Rashans that they even get brothers.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Uh not that it hasn't been any of us, but
- 35:18Speaker 1: we are a very select group and those of us
- 35:21Speaker 1: who have been um esteemed or fortunate enough to have
- 35:27Speaker 1: that platform because, as you guys know, if they dept
- 35:30Speaker 1: the hell out you to be on do a ted
- 35:32Speaker 1: X and then even when you're in competition, you're in
- 35:35Speaker 1: competition amongst all these brilliant minds. So just have the
- 35:41Speaker 1: the opportunity to do something like that is truly truly
- 35:45Speaker 1: a wonderful experience. Now you have one. You have one
- 35:48Speaker 1: of your videos that you did know ted X over
- 35:51Speaker 1: a million views. I remember you were tracking rash check
- 35:53Speaker 1: this out. I'm a two thousand and have me tell
- 35:56Speaker 1: us about that experience for taping it. Where was taped
- 36:00Speaker 1: some of the content and it don't want to give
- 36:01Speaker 1: away because we want people, we want to drive them
- 36:03Speaker 1: to go watch it and keep adding to the views.
- 36:06Speaker 1: But tell us about wherever your tape, how the opportunity
- 36:08Speaker 1: came about you, and what changes has it caused in
- 36:11Speaker 1: your life to get a video that has been few
- 36:14Speaker 1: by over a million people. Oh wow, it's highly significant.
- 36:18Speaker 1: You know. It's one thing when we put out content
- 36:21Speaker 1: ourselves and try to optimize it and and and sell it.
- 36:26Speaker 1: But Teddex doesn't permit you doing any type of stimulation
- 36:31Speaker 1: that's financial for a teex uh video. But the way
- 36:35Speaker 1: it took place, long Star was having a the teex
- 36:39Speaker 1: event here and and the Houston area, and several or
- 36:45Speaker 1: few hundred people applied. I was, I was suggested, and
- 36:51Speaker 1: the next thing I know, you know, they vetted and
- 36:53Speaker 1: betted and vetted, and I somehow it was very um
- 36:57Speaker 1: fortunate to make it to the top ten people that
- 37:01Speaker 1: they selected out of the hundreds of people. From that point,
- 37:05Speaker 1: the uh, you know, I just did my thing talking
- 37:08Speaker 1: about the laws of attraction and emotional intelligence. Soon thereafter
- 37:14Speaker 1: they notified me and they said, hey, man, this things
- 37:16Speaker 1: that eleven thousand, which I was like, what eleven thousand?
- 37:20Speaker 1: If someone had told me it would be a million
- 37:23Speaker 1: views within eighteen months, I would have never believed it.
- 37:26Speaker 1: But I can tell you that what I'm very grateful
- 37:30Speaker 1: for is that it's opened up opportunities such as this
- 37:33Speaker 1: platform to be on programs like this program I'm on
- 37:37Speaker 1: with you right now, uh, to get the exposure and
- 37:40Speaker 1: to represent that many of us, meaning men of color,
- 37:45Speaker 1: we do more than And I'm not knocking brothers that
- 37:48Speaker 1: catching dribble balls, because that's the gift within itself, but
- 37:51Speaker 1: there are people like you and me out here that
- 37:54Speaker 1: use other gifts and other skills sets to um to
- 37:58Speaker 1: maximize our potential of something called the Taco Bell strategy.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Now I've never heard that Taco Bell strategy. So this
- 38:05Speaker 1: is money making conversations. When I read that your your
- 38:08Speaker 1: your questions for the show, I wanted you to explain
- 38:11Speaker 1: exactly what is the Taco Bell strategy. It's real simple.
- 38:15Speaker 1: Taco Bell takes ground beef, lettuce, cheese, and a tortilla
- 38:19Speaker 1: and sometimes they make a burrito, they make a taco,
- 38:22Speaker 1: They make a tostada. Uh you know Lufa, they make
- 38:25Speaker 1: all this stuff using the same basic ingredients. Or in
- 38:29Speaker 1: my practice, I am one of probably sixty or seventy
- 38:34Speaker 1: master credential NbTi practitioners in the world, and black men,
- 38:38Speaker 1: I'm probably one of six or seven and again in
- 38:42Speaker 1: the world. So I use that instrument. I'm an expert
- 38:45Speaker 1: on personality type. I'm also an expert on new linguistics.
- 38:49Speaker 1: I'm also an expert on relationships. So when I do
- 38:52Speaker 1: my thing, I make sure that I bring together elements
- 38:57Speaker 1: that other people have already said. You know what, this
- 38:59Speaker 1: is a proven concept. This has proven science. So it's
- 39:04Speaker 1: not just my opinion. Because people you need something as
- 39:08Speaker 1: a base and as a platform to build from the
- 39:11Speaker 1: other thing. Something I learned from you. I remember you
- 39:14Speaker 1: shared the story with me once. You said, Doc, I
- 39:16Speaker 1: wasn't going through a season of my life and they
- 39:19Speaker 1: were making some decisions and and you said, well, I
- 39:22Speaker 1: tell you what, I don't really mind the money pay me,
- 39:25Speaker 1: but let me keep my title. I need my title.
- 39:28Speaker 1: So I've learned the value of a good name number one,
- 39:32Speaker 1: and the value of using key ingredients that are associated
- 39:36Speaker 1: with my name that I can bring value to that
- 39:39Speaker 1: brand or to that instrument, and that instrument can add
- 39:42Speaker 1: value and uh, you know, be somewhat of an implied
- 39:47Speaker 1: endorsement for my abilities. And and again like it goes
- 39:52Speaker 1: back to this work hard and know your stuff. You
- 39:55Speaker 1: know that this Cliff that that story he talked about
- 39:58Speaker 1: was that, Uh, I just wrapped the uh A season
- 40:02Speaker 1: on Steve Harvey's first sitcom on ABC called Me and
- 40:04Speaker 1: the Boys, and Robert Townson hired me to do his
- 40:07Speaker 1: sitcom on the WB called Parenthood, and I was on
- 40:11Speaker 1: the Steve Harveshaw was an executive story editor. And then
- 40:14Speaker 1: what they did was when I got hired on Robert
- 40:18Speaker 1: Townson show, they moving back to the staff writer. So
- 40:21Speaker 1: I actually took a step back. So I said, hey, hey, hey, hey,
- 40:24Speaker 1: I need my title. I said, you don't have to
- 40:26Speaker 1: pay me money, just give me titled. I just wanted
- 40:28Speaker 1: people to assume that I was still moving forward without
- 40:32Speaker 1: the check associated with it, because a lot of people
- 40:34Speaker 1: don't understand that it's about branding. Way back then, I
- 40:36Speaker 1: understood brands, understood about marketing, understood about perception, and people
- 40:41Speaker 1: perceived that you're moving forward, then I guess what you
- 40:44Speaker 1: get paid Like you're gonna be moving forward, so I
- 40:46Speaker 1: already end up. I told him they had never had
- 40:48Speaker 1: anybody talked to him like that. I said, no, no, no,
- 40:51Speaker 1: you keep a salary. Just give me my title back.
- 40:53Speaker 1: They went, oh, let's go to the legal. When they
- 40:55Speaker 1: came back, look, we'll do it. You're sure now, I said,
- 40:58Speaker 1: I don't want any money. I just want that title.
- 41:01Speaker 1: And that's what you're saying right now. And that's what
- 41:03Speaker 1: you're trying to communicate when you talk about doing business,
- 41:05Speaker 1: and that's why you have the title of the Reality
- 41:07Speaker 1: Check correct, Yes, sir h Taking that even further, I've
- 41:12Speaker 1: had you and Maya, Ricky jay Len, and Mayanna. If
- 41:15Speaker 1: you guys don't know who Jayleen McK and Ricky Anderson is,
- 41:18Speaker 1: you might want to find out. But the thing that
- 41:21Speaker 1: the three of you taught me is know when to
- 41:24Speaker 1: exit stage left, meaning is something's not conducive to where
- 41:27Speaker 1: you're taking your brand. You know, all money ain't good money,
- 41:30Speaker 1: and all opportunities aren't good opportunities. The other thing that
- 41:33Speaker 1: I learned, uh on the hard way, is to let
- 41:38Speaker 1: your let other people brag about you, let other people
- 41:41Speaker 1: talk about you. And I'm not saying don't promote yourself.
- 41:44Speaker 1: There's a difference between promoting yourself and then positioning yourself
- 41:48Speaker 1: to look like you're full of what the bull left
- 41:50Speaker 1: in the barnyard. So I don't do that anymore. I've
- 41:54Speaker 1: made sure of that. Uh. I leave a trail, and
- 41:57Speaker 1: that trail is built on things that add value to
- 42:01Speaker 1: not only my brand, but to whatever opportunity I'll present.
- 42:04Speaker 1: It is. It's amazing. Let me just clarify. Jay Lee
- 42:07Speaker 1: Max She's an attorney out of Houston, Texas. She does
- 42:10Speaker 1: all my trademarks that are Steve Harvey, rashand McDonald the
- 42:14Speaker 1: last twenty years. That's the only person who's ever done
- 42:16Speaker 1: trademarks for me and Steve Harvey in the run. Also
- 42:19Speaker 1: Ricky Anderson, he does deal for Tyler Perry, Monique exclusively Monique.
- 42:24Speaker 1: When she wanted the Oscar mentioned Ricky Turney attorney Ricky
- 42:27Speaker 1: Anderson excuse me on on the stage when she won
- 42:30Speaker 1: the Oscar Doctor the Reality Check Doctor. That's doctor d
- 42:34Speaker 1: Ivan Young. I want to thank you for coming on
- 42:36Speaker 1: my show. Um my man, know that we're gonna do
- 42:39Speaker 1: this more often every quarter because your brand is part
- 42:42Speaker 1: of my life. I just want to bring on bring
- 42:44Speaker 1: you on the show and say thank you, thank you
- 42:46Speaker 1: for giving me a direction that I wasn't looking. And
- 42:49Speaker 1: it was important that you believe in me that I
- 42:51Speaker 1: also believe in myself. Hey man, thank you, Love you, bro,
- 42:55Speaker 1: and may God continue to bless everything you put your
- 42:58Speaker 1: hands on. Well, I feel good about that statement. I'd
- 43:01Speaker 1: accept it, and I want all those blessings to go
- 43:04Speaker 1: back to you the same way. Why Making Conversation will

- 46:59Speaker 1: My I Your Business with Shaw. Hello, how you doing?
- 47:06Speaker 1: I just paused to see if I got it right? Okay,
- 47:08Speaker 1: I got it right. Good, put your hands on Saturday
- 47:12Speaker 1: Eastern Standard time. Please work on the money, make conversation
- 47:15Speaker 1: Moisha dealing. How you doing? I'm doing well, Thank you,
- 47:20Speaker 1: thank you. I paused to see if you're gonna because
- 47:23Speaker 1: I've seen your show now, because see I want to go.
- 47:25Speaker 1: I want to be on your good side. I want
- 47:28Speaker 1: to be I've seen the bad side. Well. The thing
- 47:38Speaker 1: about it is that so when I said your name,
- 47:40Speaker 1: it was like a affirmation, you know, is that right?
- 47:43Speaker 1: Is there? Right? Okay? Okay? Cool? But I got it right.
- 47:46Speaker 1: I've gotten through the first test of our relationship. Because
- 47:50Speaker 1: before we move forward into the TV show that's starting
- 47:53Speaker 1: that's airing on on at ten pm on Saturday night,
- 47:57Speaker 1: does it follow I am Fama another name I can't
- 48:02Speaker 1: say correctly Miss vans as show, and so so when
- 48:06Speaker 1: you look at that show, because her show is kind
- 48:08Speaker 1: of like a tough love show as well, there's the
- 48:10Speaker 1: air own on Saturday night. Correct that is correct, and
- 48:14Speaker 1: so but hers is tough low within the family dynamic,
- 48:20Speaker 1: yours is tough love in the business world. Yes, mine
- 48:25Speaker 1: is all about helping this show mind your business with
- 48:28Speaker 1: Mikisha and owned. This show that's all about helping black
- 48:32Speaker 1: female based business owners excel um. There's an increase in
- 48:36Speaker 1: the number of black female based businesses. Were on the rise,
- 48:39Speaker 1: absolutely three that there's an increase of three of us,
- 48:44Speaker 1: but only four percent have made it to the million
- 48:47Speaker 1: dollar mark. Now there's a huge gap there. We have
- 48:51Speaker 1: the largest growth, but only four percent or less make
- 48:54Speaker 1: it to the million dollar mark. So the goal of
- 48:56Speaker 1: the show has helped to bridge the gap. We're gonna
- 48:59Speaker 1: help eight in vidual business owners, eight individual brands, eight
- 49:02Speaker 1: individual companies should excel and succeed. But throughout the show
- 49:07Speaker 1: in the season, we're also given the tools to the audience,
- 49:10Speaker 1: to viewers for watching it to also take back home
- 49:13Speaker 1: to implement in their life. Now that now, well show this.
- 49:18Speaker 1: I like a lot that some people have compared your
- 49:21Speaker 1: show to her show. You remind me a lot of
- 49:23Speaker 1: a very popular show that I like called The Profit.
- 49:26Speaker 1: And because you yes, yes, okay, I got to stay
- 49:32Speaker 1: on the good side. I thought she's about to come ahead.
- 49:35Speaker 1: You gotta watch the show. Now you can Cheehawn's Pauls
- 49:37Speaker 1: and all the time. Because we live on radio and
- 49:39Speaker 1: you might go into the left on me, I go,
- 49:41Speaker 1: I can't dump button up, but something save my career.
- 49:45Speaker 1: But the thing about like the prophet, he goes in
- 49:47Speaker 1: there and he has to do tough love too. And
- 49:50Speaker 1: because some people shouldn't be in business, but they're getting business.
- 49:54Speaker 1: And some people have a business and guess what, it's
- 49:57Speaker 1: just barely getting by and it should be way more profitable.
- 50:01Speaker 1: And so when I was when I when I did
- 50:03Speaker 1: my research and started examining what this show was all about,
- 50:06Speaker 1: because you go into the you know, it's very it's
- 50:08Speaker 1: a very personal experience that you're having with these owners
- 50:12Speaker 1: of these businesses. Are people who have these ideas of
- 50:16Speaker 1: these concepts that they try to get aflow. So tell
- 50:18Speaker 1: everybody about your show before I get more detail. Everybody
- 50:21Speaker 1: know exactly what the show does, yes, And you know
- 50:25Speaker 1: when I when you set the profit, it is exactly that.
- 50:28Speaker 1: It's a mixture of the profit meets the shark tank
- 50:32Speaker 1: with the sprinkle of thealypics my life. That is really
- 50:35Speaker 1: the premise of the show. We're fixing people's businesses, coming
- 50:38Speaker 1: in with a little bit of tough love, a lot
- 50:40Speaker 1: of tools, a lot of information, a lot of resources.
- 50:44Speaker 1: There are some investment piece that comes along with some
- 50:47Speaker 1: of the ladies, like you saw an episode two last
- 50:49Speaker 1: this past Saturday. UM. So it comes and the help
- 50:53Speaker 1: comes in different forms. Each business owner is in a
- 50:56Speaker 1: different industry, different state of her business, and it has
- 50:59Speaker 1: different needs. So every individual episode will be unique. We
- 51:04Speaker 1: can't just do it one, you know, once ize fits
- 51:06Speaker 1: all approached, So we're meeting them where there are, give
- 51:09Speaker 1: them what they need at that present time to get
- 51:12Speaker 1: them to and do success. So the mess you said
- 51:15Speaker 1: you're doing this with eight businesses will you Were you
- 51:18Speaker 1: involved in the process of selecting the eight businesses? No,
- 51:22Speaker 1: I was not. UM. There is a team of casting
- 51:27Speaker 1: UM managers that go after these ladies. They have approached
- 51:31Speaker 1: and they all had to be obviously African American black
- 51:34Speaker 1: business owner UM that has a legitimate business of course,
- 51:38Speaker 1: and at a problem that we could actually solve beyond
- 51:41Speaker 1: just giving money. We wants to have things that we
- 51:43Speaker 1: can actually dig our teeth in and really help with.
- 51:46Speaker 1: I don't know if you solved it, because okay, let's
- 51:49Speaker 1: let me just go back. Like the episode I saw
- 51:51Speaker 1: the episode with the young lady who's the reality star.
- 51:55Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that that that that show made her made
- 52:03Speaker 1: that Let's let's let's be real. Now you got mad
- 52:06Speaker 1: at her, did you not? I did? And you know
- 52:08Speaker 1: why I did. And here's the deal. I asked the
- 52:11Speaker 1: producers when I went in, before we start apology, give
- 52:15Speaker 1: everybody the back story so we can keep everybody in
- 52:17Speaker 1: this journey about what this show was about and then
- 52:20Speaker 1: why you got made. Okay, so that this what is
- 52:23Speaker 1: this episode about? This particular episode with eight hundred West
- 52:27Speaker 1: was all about helping a reality star named Megan James
- 52:31Speaker 1: with her swim swimwear fashion mind that she makes for
- 52:36Speaker 1: fashion no but a big reteller that's very popular. So
- 52:39Speaker 1: she brought in with her a partner that she actually
- 52:43Speaker 1: was blessed with. This woman who's um connected in the industry,
- 52:46Speaker 1: is cutting and so wasn't a material handlers and production
- 52:50Speaker 1: and she does all this stuff that you need, the
- 52:52Speaker 1: contact you need that she became her partner, a very
- 52:56Speaker 1: minor partner. But this partner of hers gave her credit
- 53:01Speaker 1: she may get to use because she had eighteen years
- 53:04Speaker 1: of credit established with these people, and Miss James did
- 53:07Speaker 1: not pay her bills and so now this poor lady
- 53:11Speaker 1: Tanya is faced over eleven thousand dollars worth of it
- 53:15Speaker 1: build and potentially we'll be sued. So, um, the reason
- 53:20Speaker 1: why I got set with Mrs James is because he
- 53:23Speaker 1: did not take account of the whole accountability for her action.
- 53:27Speaker 1: She did not care that she's what she did to
- 53:29Speaker 1: Miss Tanya. I felt horrible that she has this platform
- 53:33Speaker 1: that she can actually do good with, but instead she's
- 53:36Speaker 1: making us look bad. We as black woman already have
- 53:39Speaker 1: a lot of things we have to face and deal
- 53:41Speaker 1: with negativity, negative impressions and impressions of us, and we
- 53:46Speaker 1: have to set up bar higher for ourselves. And when
- 53:49Speaker 1: you have the opportunity to do so in a platform,
- 53:52Speaker 1: take it seriously. And I was disappointed with her. Um.
- 53:58Speaker 1: So that's where you see the anger company firm the
- 54:00Speaker 1: because I want her to do better. Well, the thing
- 54:02Speaker 1: about it in that scene, let me just tell you, guys,
- 54:04Speaker 1: I was upset because Megan that's her name, correct, was selfish.
- 54:10Speaker 1: They're selfish. This younger her partner was crying, her was
- 54:14Speaker 1: emotionally crying, pleading her case with receipts and you know
- 54:19Speaker 1: what they're going what's the problem. I don't care, she said,
- 54:22Speaker 1: I don't don't make me feel bad. I don't feel
- 54:24Speaker 1: about at all. I'm like, oh my goodness, and I
- 54:27Speaker 1: think we need to move her up an hour to
- 54:29Speaker 1: y'all fix my life and then come back to this show. Well,
- 54:32Speaker 1: you know you fix it. Though, I'm gonna tell you
- 54:34Speaker 1: somebody else in this show, because when you watch this
- 54:36Speaker 1: she gotta watch these shows because they grab you. They
- 54:38Speaker 1: get you once you once you realize you're dealing with
- 54:40Speaker 1: a crazy person. You're trying to figure out how miss
- 54:42Speaker 1: Dillinger is gonna fix this problem, because I'm looking at
- 54:45Speaker 1: the person who had no She was just she was
- 54:47Speaker 1: just popular because she came from a rally show. She
- 54:50Speaker 1: had no respect for the process. She had no business.
- 54:54Speaker 1: Since she had no respect for her partner. She spent
- 54:57Speaker 1: the money that was supposed to go pay for the
- 54:59Speaker 1: bills on herself. Yes, that was the part that got
- 55:03Speaker 1: everybody mad. Is that she had the money. She decided
- 55:07Speaker 1: that's profit. Profits go to them. Yes, yeah, yes, sir.
- 55:15Speaker 1: That was very hard for me to hear. That was
- 55:18Speaker 1: very hard for me to hear. If you want to
- 55:19Speaker 1: see a young lady try to straighten out the lives
- 55:22Speaker 1: and get people on just more than faith, because a
