Latest / The Ben Ferguson Podcast / HUGE WIN FOR CONSERVATIVES w/ deal to control McCarthy!
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Well, we have a new speaker. The question is was
- 0:03Speaker 1: the battle worth it? The answer absolutely, Kevin McCarthy is
- 0:09Speaker 1: a Speaker of the House, and the fight that took
- 0:12Speaker 1: place and the holdouts and the debates and the new
- 0:15Speaker 1: rule of package that is coming because he is the speaker,
- 0:19Speaker 1: was it worth it? Yeah? How much did save you?
- 0:22Speaker 1: Hundreds of billions of dollars in government spending is what
- 0:28Speaker 1: it was at stake, and now we have rules in
- 0:31Speaker 1: place to stop it from happening. Chip Roy, who was
- 0:36Speaker 1: the mastermind behind much of this and the chief negotiator
- 0:40Speaker 1: and getting many of the Republicans that were holding out,
- 0:44Speaker 1: he was one of them to then back Speaker McCarthy.
- 0:48Speaker 1: He did it because he said we needed to stop
- 0:51Speaker 1: the excessive spending in this country. He was on stay
- 0:55Speaker 1: of the Union. He had this to say, finish you right,
- 0:58Speaker 1: So why is that because you pushed back on the swamp,
- 1:01Speaker 1: the swamp's gonna push right back. We saw that in display.
- 1:04Speaker 1: That's okay. So you say, well, are we going to
- 1:06Speaker 1: have this kind of conflict going forward? I hope so.
- 1:09Speaker 1: But we started this. Now it's January, so the death
- 1:12Speaker 1: ceiling or the debate is going to be in a
- 1:14Speaker 1: few months. Let's do it now, guys, get this out there,
- 1:17Speaker 1: both sides of the aisle, everybody within each party. Let's
- 1:20Speaker 1: figure out how we're going to actually fix this because
- 1:22Speaker 1: the American people are sick of us not doing our job.
- 1:24Speaker 1: There is a bigger risk though, for the US defaulting
- 1:28Speaker 1: on the death when when it comes to the death
- 1:29Speaker 1: ceiling vote, then some short term embarrassment for Kevin McCarthy
- 1:34Speaker 1: that's the default is a bigger deal and could actually
- 1:37Speaker 1: cost billions of dollars. Understood, But remember in twenty eleven
- 1:41Speaker 1: when that Captain Balance was negotiated and putting place, and
- 1:43Speaker 1: frankly it worked for four or five years to constrain spending.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Now it had some side effects. The defense spending was
- 1:49Speaker 1: getting whacked pretty good. And we don't want to see that.
- 1:51Speaker 1: We want to be able to figure out how we
- 1:53Speaker 1: can get this going the right way to make sure
- 1:54Speaker 1: defense is protected. But we need to put limits on
- 1:57Speaker 1: spending and then get to the table. You have to
- 1:59Speaker 1: do that at own, Jake. I have to do that
- 2:01Speaker 1: at home. Every American has to do that. If we
- 2:03Speaker 1: don't stop spending money, we don't have I promise you
- 2:06Speaker 1: we will never sit at a table, Colin Allred, who's
- 2:08Speaker 1: going to be on here A little bit that I
- 2:09Speaker 1: was talking to in the green room. Colin and I
- 2:12Speaker 1: need to be able to sit at a table and
- 2:13Speaker 1: figure out how we're going to fix this for the country.
- 2:15Speaker 1: We can't do that if the leaders jam through one
- 2:19Speaker 1: point seven trillion dollars omnibus bills like happen in December,
- 2:22Speaker 1: where we have no debate on the floor. We have
- 2:24Speaker 1: to open this debate up, offer amendments, do our work,
- 2:27Speaker 1: limits spending within our means, and then move for the
- 2:29Speaker 1: country forward. If McCarthy fails to offer a debt ceiling
- 2:35Speaker 1: bill that has offsetting spending cuts, if he offers what
- 2:40Speaker 1: the Democrats in the Senate want, which is a clean bill,
- 2:43Speaker 1: would you vote to vacate the speakership because they will
- 2:46Speaker 1: now be able to be one person making that motion
- 2:49Speaker 1: to locate the speaker. Look, I'm not gonna you know,
- 2:52Speaker 1: I'm not going to play the what if games on
- 2:53Speaker 1: how we're going to use the tools of the House
- 2:55Speaker 1: to make sure that we enforce the terms of the agreement.
- 2:58Speaker 1: But we will use the tools of the House to
- 3:01Speaker 1: enforce the terms of the agreement. No, you negotiate with
- 3:03Speaker 1: Democrats in the Senate because as you know, true I
- 3:05Speaker 1: love by the way, I got you a part here
- 3:07Speaker 1: from right, Well what about that? What about this? There's
- 3:09Speaker 1: no reason to go there yet. But this is what's
- 3:12Speaker 1: driving the media crazy. They realize now that there are
- 3:16Speaker 1: real changes coming to Washington. They realize that people like
- 3:20Speaker 1: Chip Roy and Representative Comber are going to do what
- 3:24Speaker 1: they said they're gonna do. For example, Comber today, you
- 3:27Speaker 1: want to know one of the perks of what we
- 3:28Speaker 1: just accomplish. Representative Comber said, hey, we're going to investigate
- 3:34Speaker 1: Joe Biden. We're not investigating Hunter Biden. That's the point
- 3:37Speaker 1: I've been saying for a long time. Republicans need to
- 3:40Speaker 1: get smart about this and understand Hunter Biden is not
- 3:44Speaker 1: what you need to be focusing on. It's Joe Biden. Now,
- 3:48Speaker 1: we got a lot of intel from Hunter Biden. We
- 3:50Speaker 1: have a lot of information on how the Family Crime
- 3:54Speaker 1: Network works, no doubt about it. But I really don't
- 3:58Speaker 1: care about the hookers. I don't care about the prostitutes.
- 4:01Speaker 1: I don't care about the drugs. With Hunter Biden, it
- 4:05Speaker 1: is about Joe Biden and what has Joe Biden been doing?
- 4:09Speaker 1: What is it that Joe Biden has been a part of.
- 4:12Speaker 1: How much does the big guy get? What deals could
- 4:15Speaker 1: not be done if it wasn't for the big guy.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Those are the issues that we need to be talking about.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Those are the conversations that I want there to be had.
- 4:27Speaker 1: I want the investigations to be in that. How much
- 4:30Speaker 1: was he selling out the American government for? What does
- 4:33Speaker 1: it cost to buy off the vice presidency or now
- 4:37Speaker 1: the presidency? How much money do you get for artwork
- 4:40Speaker 1: when your dad is the president? And who's buying it?
- 4:43Speaker 1: What corrupt and shitty actors around the world have compromised
- 4:47Speaker 1: the president of the United States of America. All right,
- 4:49Speaker 1: but first, I gotta tell you about an amazing product

- 6:21Speaker 1: you notice none of this deals with Hunter Biden. This
- 6:26Speaker 1: all deals with Joe Biden and James Comer. By the way,
- 6:29Speaker 1: today I'll meet the press made it clear Sunday morning
- 6:32Speaker 1: when he was talking to him. Hey, that's exactly what
- 6:34Speaker 1: we are going to do. Let me ask you this,
- 6:36Speaker 1: You're gonna do a lot of oversight. You're gonna have
- 6:39Speaker 1: a lot of subpoenas. Many people look at what you're
- 6:41Speaker 1: doing and they see that it looks more partisan than professional.
- 6:47Speaker 1: By the way, that's a lie. When he just said
- 6:49Speaker 1: many people see this as more partisan than professional, that's
- 6:53Speaker 1: the media spin. That's crap. And the media now is
- 6:58Speaker 1: terrified of what we're gonna find out the same way
- 7:00Speaker 1: that they're terrified. The American people are seeing what did
- 7:02Speaker 1: the deep state and the media was doing and the
- 7:04Speaker 1: Democrats are doing, Silencing American citizens, silencing conservatives, silencing dissenters
- 7:11Speaker 1: of people like doctor Fauchi with the Twitter files, all
- 7:15Speaker 1: of the things that we as conservatives were yelling about saying,
- 7:18Speaker 1: this is happening to us in real time. No one
- 7:21Speaker 1: can see what we're saying anymore. No one can see
- 7:23Speaker 1: our tweets. People's accounts are getting silence and shut down
- 7:27Speaker 1: and being put on mute. All of the things that
- 7:30Speaker 1: we said were happening, we know now we're clearly happening,
- 7:34Speaker 1: not just to us, but to many people that weren't
- 7:37Speaker 1: even you know, significant in the Republican movement. I'm doing
- 7:40Speaker 1: about lots of followers. You could write the wrong thing.
- 7:44Speaker 1: You could mention something like Ivan Mechton, You could ask
- 7:47Speaker 1: a question about heart conditions, and immediately you could be silenced.
- 7:50Speaker 1: In fact, what we know now is people like doctor Fouch,
- 7:53Speaker 1: you and others we're sending in their enemies list saying
- 7:55Speaker 1: these are the people we want you to make disappear,
- 8:00Speaker 1: These are the people we want you to make go away.
- 8:04Speaker 1: All of this was happening. So when you hear people
- 8:07Speaker 1: like Chuck Todd on Meet the Press saying, well, there's
- 8:08Speaker 1: a lot of people that say that what you're about
- 8:10Speaker 1: to do looks partisan number one, if you want to
- 8:13Speaker 1: talk about partisanship, and he never asked that type of question.
- 8:16Speaker 1: The Democrats when they were actually trying to overthrow the
- 8:19Speaker 1: will of the people, when they were impeaching Donald Trump,
- 8:21Speaker 1: not once but twice, don't forget what they were doing.
- 8:25Speaker 1: They knew the entire time, when they were covering that
- 8:28Speaker 1: for four straight years, five actually with Donald Trump, they
- 8:34Speaker 1: knew they were partisan hacks. They knew what they were
- 8:37Speaker 1: doing was a lie. They knew that the entire Dolcier
- 8:40Speaker 1: was a lie. They knew it was fabricated. They knew
- 8:43Speaker 1: it was created by the Democratic Party in Hillary Clinton,
- 8:45Speaker 1: and they covered it like it was real news. So
- 8:48Speaker 1: when you hear these people say stupid stuff like this
- 8:51Speaker 1: and this is stupid. When you hear the Chuck Todd's go, well,
- 8:54Speaker 1: it looks like what you guys are doing right now
- 8:56Speaker 1: might be partisan, roll your eyes and stay focused. Roll
- 9:02Speaker 1: your eyes and stay focused on what actually matters. Roll
- 9:08Speaker 1: your eyes at them, and keep going down and through
- 9:12Speaker 1: the process, because the process matters. And James Comber, when
- 9:16Speaker 1: he hears a question like this, deserves to explode. Take
- 9:20Speaker 1: a listen. Tell me how you're going to try to
- 9:25Speaker 1: departisanize an investigation or do you expect it to be partisan? Well,
- 9:33Speaker 1: with all due respect, check, I disagree with that. I
- 9:35Speaker 1: think the only people that see this as a partisan
- 9:37Speaker 1: investigation are the media and the hardcore Democrats. Look at
- 9:42Speaker 1: the same moment that the Democrats on the Ways and
- 9:45Speaker 1: Means Committee released Donald Trump's taxes, they then moments later
- 9:49Speaker 1: turned around and said Comber's investigation of the Biden family
- 9:54Speaker 1: influence peddling is a revengering. I mean, are you kidding me? Look,
- 9:57Speaker 1: Harvard Pole just came out and said sixty five percent
- 10:00Speaker 1: of the Americans believe that the contents of Hunter Biden's
- 10:03Speaker 1: laptop should be investigated. But let me be clear, let's
- 10:06Speaker 1: just stop it that the majority of Americans, sixty five
- 10:09Speaker 1: plus percent of the American people believe that the laptop
- 10:13Speaker 1: should be investigated, not because of the drugs, not because
- 10:16Speaker 1: the prostitutes, but because it involves the business dealings of
- 10:20Speaker 1: the United States government and the selling out of our interests.
- 10:25Speaker 1: That's why. Because they understand what corruption looks like, and
- 10:29Speaker 1: the big guy was getting paid. The big guy was
- 10:32Speaker 1: getting paid, and he was using his leverage then as
- 10:35Speaker 1: the vice present, now is the present to make money.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Take a listen again, here's more James Comer, incoming chair
- 10:43Speaker 1: Houseoversight Committee, fighting back against the ridiculous narratives of the
- 10:48Speaker 1: media and again quoting sixty five percent of Americans say
- 10:53Speaker 1: they believe that the content of that laptop, Hunter Biden's
- 10:57Speaker 1: Laptop from Hell, should in fact be investigated. Investigating Hunter Biden.
- 11:02Speaker 1: We're investigating Joe Biden, and I think any American who's
- 11:05Speaker 1: kept up with the political process over the past two
- 11:07Speaker 1: administrations would agree. We need to know what is allowable
- 11:12Speaker 1: and what isn't allowable with respect to foreign adversarial intervention
- 11:18Speaker 1: among family members of presidents of the United States. That's
- 11:22Speaker 1: something that the Democrats complained about with Custer, and certainly
- 11:25Speaker 1: the Republicans, myself included, have a complained about Jim. If
- 11:29Speaker 1: he didn't my son and brother, we got to do
- 11:31Speaker 1: something about it. If you didn't like the way the
- 11:33Speaker 1: Democrats did it, it it sounds like you're going to do
- 11:35Speaker 1: it in the same way that they did it. How
- 11:37Speaker 1: is it any better? No, very, I totally disagree with that.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Adam Schiff always over promised and underdelivered. He said just
- 11:46Speaker 1: last week the released in Trump's tax reterms was going
- 11:49Speaker 1: to be a bombshell. I mean, there's no bombshell there.
- 11:51Speaker 1: There's nothing there. Anyone I've deserved on a bank board
- 11:54Speaker 1: for over a decade, There's never been a developer that's
- 11:56Speaker 1: paid a lot of federal income tax because of depreciation
- 11:59Speaker 1: and tax and things like that. If the Democrats want
- 12:02Speaker 1: to make people like Donald Trump pay taxes, they need
- 12:04Speaker 1: to change the tax code, not the tax rate, the
- 12:06Speaker 1: tax code. But with perspective what we're doing. Everything that
- 12:09Speaker 1: we have requested, we have evidence to back up. There
- 12:13Speaker 1: are emails and text messages that show Hunter Biden complaining
- 12:17Speaker 1: about having to spend so much money keeping his dad up.
- 12:20Speaker 1: I mean, that's a concern because Hunter Biden's only source
- 12:22Speaker 1: of income. We're from our adversaries in China and Russia
- 12:26Speaker 1: for influence pedding. So this is something that we should
- 12:28Speaker 1: look into. This isn't political. We want to know it
- 12:32Speaker 1: was the president truthful when he said he didn't have
- 12:34Speaker 1: any knowledge or involvement of his family shady business dealings.
- 12:37Speaker 1: And once we determine that, we'll move on. Well, I
- 12:40Speaker 1: love Chuck Todd there. He's like, oh, I know you're
- 12:42Speaker 1: getting some facts here. We gotta we gotta wrap this
- 12:44Speaker 1: thing up. We're gonna try to make it look like
- 12:47Speaker 1: and compare it like you're one the same of what
- 12:49Speaker 1: they were doing to Donald Trump, and you guys didn't
- 12:52Speaker 1: like that, so now it looks like you're just going
- 12:54Speaker 1: right back and doing that again. He's like, no, we're not,
- 12:55Speaker 1: we're doing to doing anything close to that. You're wrong
- 12:58Speaker 1: what we are doing. And then he goes through it
- 13:01Speaker 1: and it's like, oh, well, shoot, now you're talking about
- 13:03Speaker 1: things that we don't want to hear about. Now we're
- 13:06Speaker 1: hearing about things that we don't want it to be
- 13:08Speaker 1: to discuss. So we need you to shut up, right,
- 13:11Speaker 1: We need you to silence everything and just and quiet
- 13:14Speaker 1: on down. This is we need to We need you
- 13:18Speaker 1: to tone it down a little bit and move on
- 13:22Speaker 1: from it. This is why the fight for the Speakership
- 13:26Speaker 1: was so important. This is why the fight for the
- 13:30Speaker 1: Speakership was not just important so that we could move
- 13:35Speaker 1: forward with these type things, but also because we could
- 13:37Speaker 1: get out of control government spending back and check. All right,
- 13:43Speaker 1: real quick, let me pause and tell you about our
- 13:45Speaker 1: incredible friends over at Patriot Mobile. They are America's only
- 13:50Speaker 1: Christian conservative cell phone provider. They want to make it
- 13:54Speaker 1: easy for you to try switching to Patriot Mobile from
- 13:58Speaker 1: whatever service you have right now. You can give them
- 14:01Speaker 1: sixty days to show you why I use Patriot Mobile
- 14:04Speaker 1: and why you should make the switch right now. When
- 14:07Speaker 1: you try Patriot Mobile for two months, you get your
- 14:10Speaker 1: third month free, plus you get free activation now. They
- 14:14Speaker 1: offer nationwide coverage on the best four G and five
- 14:16Speaker 1: G networks, and they use the same exact cell towers
- 14:20Speaker 1: of all of the three other major carriers. You're gonna
- 14:23Speaker 1: get the same coverage you have right now. You get
- 14:25Speaker 1: the same grade service, You get to keep your same
- 14:27Speaker 1: cell phone number if you want to. You can even
- 14:29Speaker 1: usually use the same phone you have in your hand
- 14:31Speaker 1: right now. Now, why do you want to switch? When
- 14:33Speaker 1: you do, they actually stand up for a First and
- 14:36Speaker 1: Second Amendment rights, and they give a portion of your
- 14:39Speaker 1: bill every month back to conservative Christian causes that we
- 14:44Speaker 1: all believe in. So, if you're ready to support a
- 14:47Speaker 1: comy that's fighting to preserve our God given rights and
- 14:50Speaker 1: our freedoms, just go to Patriot Mobile dot com slash ferguson.
- 14:55Speaker 1: That's Patriot Mobile dot com slash ferguson, or you can
- 14:59Speaker 1: call them nine seven to Patriot. It's nine seven to Patriot.
- 15:04Speaker 1: If you're fed up with woke companies that don't care
- 15:06Speaker 1: about your values, support a company that actually does. Make
- 15:09Speaker 1: the switch today get a free month of service plus
- 15:12Speaker 1: free activation Patriot Mobile dot com slash ferguson or nine
- 15:16Speaker 1: seven two Patriot. I also believe in term limits. For example,
- 15:22Speaker 1: I think term limits is something that we need to do.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Representive Comer also coming out saying now, because of these
- 15:29Speaker 1: new rules, we're going to be able to have and
- 15:32Speaker 1: have a real conversation about fundamentally changing Congress so that
- 15:36Speaker 1: we can have this issue of term limits up on
- 15:38Speaker 1: the and make it clear that these career politicians in
- 15:42Speaker 1: the House no more pass a balanced budget amendments so
- 15:46Speaker 1: that we're no longer just borrowing trillions of dollars. A
- 15:50Speaker 1: lot of Republicans I represent an overwhelmingly Republican districts that
- 15:54Speaker 1: Trump won by nearly fifty points the first election. When
- 15:58Speaker 1: he got elected the first time, they they constantly seemed
- 16:01Speaker 1: disappointed that Republicans aren't able to do the things that
- 16:04Speaker 1: Republicans say they're gonna do, like, for example, vote for
- 16:07Speaker 1: a term limits bill that is overwhelmingly popular among conservative
- 16:10Speaker 1: voters in America. Republicans always campaign for Congress in two things.
- 16:15Speaker 1: They say, we're going to pass the term limits bill
- 16:18Speaker 1: and we're gonna pass a balance budget amendment. But yet
- 16:21Speaker 1: those two votes are neither voted on. So I understand
- 16:24Speaker 1: the frustration that a lot of new members, a lot
- 16:27Speaker 1: of new Conservatives have, and you know, they drew a
- 16:29Speaker 1: line in the sand on some of these bills that
- 16:32Speaker 1: we always campaign on but we never seem to vote on.
- 16:35Speaker 1: And I'm confident Kevin has heard from our confort that
- 16:39Speaker 1: we want to vote on these things, and I'm confident
- 16:42Speaker 1: that we'll do it. Look, it's going to be a
- 16:43Speaker 1: tough job. That's why nobody else tried to run for speaker.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Is a tough job to get to two eighteen. But
- 16:50Speaker 1: I believe Kevin's the right guy, and I was proud
- 16:52Speaker 1: to not only support him, I nominated him on the
- 16:54Speaker 1: House floor for speaker. What you know, I'm curious those
- 16:56Speaker 1: two things you mentioned. Those are show votes. They're not
- 17:00Speaker 1: pass They have no chance of passing. Someone might be
- 17:03Speaker 1: might need to be constitutional amendments, and you know how
- 17:05Speaker 1: arduous that process is. What's the point of passing a
- 17:09Speaker 1: bill that's that basically you get to put a press
- 17:11Speaker 1: release out on but it doesn't get enacted. I love
- 17:14Speaker 1: this right, he's saying, because the Democrats are in control
- 17:18Speaker 1: of the Senate. These are show votes, so you guys
- 17:21Speaker 1: aren't going to actually get it done. You're gonna pass it,
- 17:24Speaker 1: but it won't mean anything. I can tell exactly why
- 17:27Speaker 1: you should do these things, because it gets people talking
- 17:32Speaker 1: about it and understanding why it's important. It gets the
- 17:36Speaker 1: voters heads around the idea of term limits and why
- 17:39Speaker 1: it's such an important process, so that if we do
- 17:42Speaker 1: get back the Senate, if we win back the White House,
- 17:45Speaker 1: that you then can actually accomplish these things and truly
- 17:49Speaker 1: get them done. That's why you do it. You do
- 17:52Speaker 1: it to set a precedent, to explain and sell it
- 17:55Speaker 1: to the American people. Plus, the American people want this,
- 17:59Speaker 1: so if the American people sent you there to do it,
- 18:03Speaker 1: then you should do what the American people will sent
- 18:05Speaker 1: you there to do. You can't control what the Senate does,
- 18:09Speaker 1: you can't control the veto pen of the president. What
- 18:12Speaker 1: you can do is talk about important issues, pass those issues,
- 18:16Speaker 1: and then move on to the next thing that you
- 18:18Speaker 1: were asked to do. That's part of the problem with
- 18:22Speaker 1: it with so many of these rhino Republicans and these
- 18:26Speaker 1: swampy Republicans are like, wow, we look, it's not gonna
- 18:29Speaker 1: pass Senate. A screw it, we don't have to do that.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Let's spend more money, Let's just do whatever the hell
- 18:33Speaker 1: we want to do. And then when they say why
- 18:36Speaker 1: didn't you do X, Y and zoom and say, well,
- 18:38Speaker 1: we know it wouldn't pass the Senate anyway, And that's
- 18:41Speaker 1: exactly the logic that was just used right there. But
- 18:45Speaker 1: I check that out. Oh, this is a show vote.
- 18:47Speaker 1: You guys aren't serious about this, right, This is a
- 18:51Speaker 1: show vote. This isn't a real vote, This isn't really
- 18:55Speaker 1: trying to accomplish something. And listen to what comer says
- 19:00Speaker 1: a response. A lot of times, as you know, Chuck,
- 19:04Speaker 1: you have to take bills through numerous sessions of Congress
- 19:09Speaker 1: before they finally become law. More and more candidates will
- 19:12Speaker 1: run for the US Senate and claim that they support
- 19:16Speaker 1: term limits and they support a balanced budget. Millent, I
- 19:18Speaker 1: think you have two come into the Senate now from
- 19:20Speaker 1: the House, Ted Bud and Mark Wayne Mullen that would
- 19:24Speaker 1: support that. They replace members of the Senate that probably
- 19:27Speaker 1: wouldn't have voted for that. So we've got to start
- 19:30Speaker 1: taking steps to make fundamental change in America. And I've
- 19:33Speaker 1: always said from my first campaign for Congress to today
- 19:36Speaker 1: that if we want to fundamentally change Congress, the two
- 19:39Speaker 1: things that we can do today is pass a term
- 19:41Speaker 1: limits bill and pass a balanced budget amendment. Because if
- 19:44Speaker 1: there's not a balanced budget amendment, I don't have a
- 19:47Speaker 1: lot of confidence that Congress is ever going to balance
- 19:50Speaker 1: the budget. He's right, he doesn't believe that the Congress
- 19:54Speaker 1: will ever balance the budget if we don't have term limits,
- 19:58Speaker 1: because there's too many people that get their tentacles into
- 20:01Speaker 1: these men and women in Congress and they say, we
- 20:04Speaker 1: will get you reelected, we will support you through our superpack,
- 20:08Speaker 1: our special interest groups as long as you do this,
- 20:12Speaker 1: And so members of Congress instead of just voting the
- 20:15Speaker 1: way they should vote, they're so worried about not being
- 20:18Speaker 1: there for the rest of their career, not being there
- 20:20Speaker 1: for fifteen twenty twenty five years, and making it easier
- 20:24Speaker 1: and easier and easier and easier than for them to
- 20:27Speaker 1: do an election and a re election. That's what they're
- 20:30Speaker 1: so focused on, right, I mean, that's what they want.
- 20:35Speaker 1: They want it to be easy, and they don't like
- 20:39Speaker 1: having to, you know, really go out there and get
- 20:44Speaker 1: and get core supporters to support them with donations. So
- 20:51Speaker 1: instead what do they do. They take a superpack special
- 20:55Speaker 1: interest money and they say, all right, fine, what do
- 20:56Speaker 1: you want for it? What do you need? What do
- 21:00Speaker 1: you need me to support, What do you need me
- 21:02Speaker 1: to advocate? What is it that you need me to
- 21:04Speaker 1: push for? Now, before I get into more of this story,
- 21:07Speaker 1: I want to say thank you and tell you about
- 21:09Speaker 1: our good friends at Legacy Precious Medals. Without them, the
- 21:11Speaker 1: show wouldn't be possible. And if you have not looked
- 21:15Speaker 1: at gold and silver as a way to protect your
- 21:17Speaker 1: hard earned dollars against what happening on Wall Street with inflation,
- 21:21Speaker 1: it's time for you to call them and get the
- 21:24Speaker 1: free Investor's Guide. Why because so many around the world
- 21:26Speaker 1: are now using gold and silver, and historically they have
- 21:30Speaker 1: for decades as a protection, a hedge against inflation, which
- 21:33Speaker 1: is exactly what we're dealing with right now. If you're
- 21:36Speaker 1: terrified to look at your retirement account, your four one
- 21:38Speaker 1: case statement because of what's happening on Wall Street, that's
- 21:42Speaker 1: all the more reason why you should call and get
- 21:44Speaker 1: the investors goide in gold and silver, protect your hard
- 21:47Speaker 1: earned money and diversify. Call them and get the free
- 21:50Speaker 1: Investor's Guide from Legacy Precious Medals one eight six six
- 21:55Speaker 1: seven five one twenty two eighteen one eight six six
- 22:00Speaker 1: seven five one twenty two eighteen or online at Legacy
- 22:04Speaker 1: PM investments dot Com. All right, there's another aspect of
- 22:09Speaker 1: this whole debate that I also think we need to
- 22:12Speaker 1: talk about, not just the money, not just the term limits,
- 22:15Speaker 1: but it's also this idea, and the media is really
- 22:19Speaker 1: fixating on this. Well, this was a humiliating week for
- 22:22Speaker 1: the Republicans. This was an embarrassing week, A week that
- 22:26Speaker 1: really was embarrassing for the Republicans. No, it wasn't. It
- 22:30Speaker 1: was a week that a five day fight and a
- 22:35Speaker 1: bunch of votes on the speakership had a massive impact
- 22:40Speaker 1: on the future of this country when it comes to
- 22:43Speaker 1: being fiscally responsible. Okay, never, ever, ever, ever forget that. Okay.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Charlie Hurt was talking to Dan Bondino and Fox and
- 22:55Speaker 1: he was asked about this GOP in fighting and he
- 22:58Speaker 1: described it in a way that I also was pretty brilliant. Listen,
- 23:01Speaker 1: you know this past week on the floor of the
- 23:05Speaker 1: House has you know, I know everybody talks about how
- 23:07Speaker 1: embarrassing this is for Republicans. Trust me, I've watched Congress
- 23:11Speaker 1: for twenty years. This is one of the least embarrassing
- 23:14Speaker 1: things Congress has done in twenty years. What we're seeing
- 23:18Speaker 1: is democracy. What we're seeing is a debate, an open debate. Remember,
- 23:23Speaker 1: democracy dies in darkness. This is what democracy out in
- 23:26Speaker 1: the open looks like. It's you have votes, you have fights,
- 23:30Speaker 1: you have debates, you have arguments. And it's a very
- 23:33Speaker 1: good thing. And I think it's really an important to
- 23:35Speaker 1: recognize this dam the one you have this fight on
- 23:39Speaker 1: the Republican side, and ultimately the fight is about spending.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Spending is the most important thing that Congress does, and
- 23:46Speaker 1: it's the thing that is going to destroy this country.
- 23:49Speaker 1: And who doesn't have even a seat at the table here? Democrats?
- 23:54Speaker 1: The Democrat Party is so dishonest, so corrupt that they
- 23:58Speaker 1: don't even think that spending is a problem. They're over
- 24:01Speaker 1: at the kids table drinking, boozing and eating popcorn, and
- 24:05Speaker 1: Republicans are having a serious, mature, very sincere debate about
- 24:13Speaker 1: spending and Democrats are nowhere to be found. But you know,
- 24:17Speaker 1: if you put Democrats in charge, they'd be really nice.
- 24:19Speaker 1: They put together a nice little orderly show, and nobody
- 24:22Speaker 1: would be mad at one another. But the country would
- 24:25Speaker 1: go down the toilet. The country would go down the toilet.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Why do you think Democrats have no problem getting all together?
- 24:31Speaker 1: Because they just bribe. But they're all off everybody and
- 24:34Speaker 1: anyone who may get in their way. Every Democrat gets
- 24:37Speaker 1: virtually every single thing financially they want when they're a
- 24:41Speaker 1: member of the Democratic Caucus because they just blow it
- 24:44Speaker 1: out and say screw America every time. The one point
- 24:47Speaker 1: seven trillion dollars omnimus spending. There is a perfect example
- 24:50Speaker 1: of that. It's come to the table. Here's your blank
- 24:54Speaker 1: piece of paper, right in the crap you want for
- 24:57Speaker 1: your special interest, for your stay eight for your district,
- 25:01Speaker 1: and we'll give it to you. That's how the Democrats
- 25:05Speaker 1: literally operate. So it wasn't and it wasn't an embarrassing week.
- 25:11Speaker 1: You know, there was. There was a lot of tension.
- 25:13Speaker 1: If you watch the vote live, and let's just talk
- 25:17Speaker 1: about the other thing we saw. There was a moment
- 25:22Speaker 1: where there was a congressman that had to be with
- 25:25Speaker 1: strained who was yelling at Matt Gates. I didn't have
- 25:29Speaker 1: a problem with that. There were some other mocking it
- 25:33Speaker 1: and saying this is so embarrassing. Listen to what chip
- 25:36Speaker 1: Roy had to say about that. He was asked about it,
- 25:39Speaker 1: right and he said, you know what, maybe we'll need
- 25:41Speaker 1: a little bit more of this where people actually give
- 25:42Speaker 1: a crap. McCarthy has the title he has always wanted,
- 25:45Speaker 1: but not necessarily the power that used to come with it.
- 25:48Speaker 1: He eaked out a win, but his mandate is less assured.
- 25:51Speaker 1: McCarthy required the better part of a week to grind
- 25:54Speaker 1: down the conservative opposition to his speaker bid and the
- 25:57Speaker 1: way things have been done in the House for decades.
- 25:59Speaker 1: One of the whole outs Republican Congressmanship, Roy of Texas
- 26:02Speaker 1: was instrumental in delivering him the gavel. Roy negotiated a
- 26:06Speaker 1: laundry list of concessions from McCarthy designed to spread power
- 26:09Speaker 1: among the House rank and file and particularly the House
- 26:12Speaker 1: Freedom Caucus. By the way, does any of this sound bad? Like?
- 26:15Speaker 1: I love how Jake Tapper is like, well, it's a
- 26:17Speaker 1: better part of a week. That's how you know that
- 26:20Speaker 1: this media hates what was just accomplished by the Republicans.
- 26:25Speaker 1: They hate it. They hate it, they hate it. They
- 26:29Speaker 1: are furious because they actually did something, they did something
- 26:34Speaker 1: that was meaningful and important, and they can't stand that,
- 26:40Speaker 1: and so they throw in these little you know, these
- 26:43Speaker 1: little jabs here and there right like like this is
- 26:46Speaker 1: that this was an unprincipled moment of embarrassing proportions for
- 26:51Speaker 1: the Republicans. Know it wasn't. It was a brilliant moment
- 26:54Speaker 1: where we actually had real change. And then I can
- 26:58Speaker 1: you know, it made a mockery of Congress. There's an
- 27:00Speaker 1: embarrassment for Congress. Right, That's where they're about to go
- 27:03Speaker 1: with a store. You ready for this, because they're going
- 27:05Speaker 1: to tell you that this is the worst thing they've
- 27:06Speaker 1: ever seen. And Roy's deal ultimately flipped up to fifteen
- 27:10Speaker 1: votes for McCarthy, paving the way or his victory Friday night.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Joining me now for his first interview after the speaker
- 27:16Speaker 1: election is Texas Republican Congressman Ship Roy. First of all,
- 27:19Speaker 1: congratulations on everything that happened and getting what you wanted
- 27:24Speaker 1: in the negotiations. It's it's not necessarily a sure thing
- 27:27Speaker 1: that that happens. We are just learning some of the
- 27:32Speaker 1: promises McCarthy made. Capping spending at twenty twenty two levels
- 27:36Speaker 1: for fiscal year twenty and twenty four, a subcommittee to
- 27:39Speaker 1: investigate the Justice Department, more freedom, Caucus representation on important
- 27:43Speaker 1: committees like the Rules Committee, a one member threshold for
- 27:46Speaker 1: avotion to vacate, which is what it used to be
- 27:48Speaker 1: before twenty nineteen. What other commitments did McCarthy make you
- 27:51Speaker 1: can tell us about. Well, first of all, you know,
- 27:54Speaker 1: let's remember that a little temporary conflict is necessary in
- 27:58Speaker 1: this town in order to stop this town from rolling
- 28:00Speaker 1: over the American people. I don't think anybody on either
- 28:03Speaker 1: side of the aisle could say with a straight face
- 28:06Speaker 1: that they think that Washington is doing good work for
- 28:09Speaker 1: the American people on a regular basis and isn't broken.
- 28:12Speaker 1: We have to work to fix this place. And look
- 28:15Speaker 1: some of the tensions you saw on display when we
- 28:18Speaker 1: saw some of the you know, the interactions there between
- 28:20Speaker 1: Mike Rodgers and Matt Gates. You know some of that
- 28:23Speaker 1: is we need a little of that. We need a
- 28:25Speaker 1: little of this sort of breaking the glass in order
- 28:27Speaker 1: to get us to the table and orders to fight
- 28:29Speaker 1: for the American people and to change the way this
- 28:31Speaker 1: place is dysfunctional. So this all started going back last summer.
- 28:35Speaker 1: We wanted rules to open this place up. We wanted
- 28:37Speaker 1: more transparent. We wanted rules and we wanted to open
- 28:42Speaker 1: this place up, and we wanted transparency. I'm glad that
- 28:46Speaker 1: he addressed had head on this way. We need a
- 28:48Speaker 1: little bit of interactions like the one between Mike Rodgers
- 28:50Speaker 1: and Matt Gates. You know, I'm not a big fan
- 28:53Speaker 1: of Gates, and I say that because I don't like
- 28:57Speaker 1: the way that he was doing what he did this
- 28:59Speaker 1: last week and what I mean by that is it
- 29:01Speaker 1: was very personal. It wasn't about principle. I love the
- 29:05Speaker 1: way that Chip Roy was doing what he was doing
- 29:07Speaker 1: this week because it was all about principle and not
- 29:10Speaker 1: about personality. It was I want to change things, and
- 29:13Speaker 1: I'm going to hold out until we change the way
- 29:16Speaker 1: that Washington does business in the House of Representatives. That
- 29:20Speaker 1: was principal. You know, you look at Matt Gates. He
- 29:26Speaker 1: went on Fox News and kind of got beat up
- 29:29Speaker 1: a little bit. He did. The anchors there kind of
- 29:32Speaker 1: put the screws to Gates following the McCarthy's quote circus,
- 29:35Speaker 1: do you consider yourself a serious legislator? And the reason
- 29:38Speaker 1: why they were giving him such a hard time is
- 29:40Speaker 1: because it wasn't about all these agenda items. It was
- 29:44Speaker 1: just about saying, I don't like Ken McCarthy. This is
- 29:47Speaker 1: personal and I'm gonna come after you personally. That was
- 29:52Speaker 1: not a great look. But many of these twenty others
- 29:55Speaker 1: that were involved, it was not about the personal issues.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Think goodness. It was about the principaled issues. It was
- 30:03Speaker 1: about changing the way we do business. One of the
- 30:06Speaker 1: things that was and this is just a perfect example.
- 30:11Speaker 1: You have this massive Omnibus Spinning Bill that happened right
- 30:14Speaker 1: before you know, Christmas. And in that bill there was
- 30:17Speaker 1: something in there that a lot of people would say,
- 30:20Speaker 1: why wasn't that debated on its own merit? It was
- 30:23Speaker 1: the funding for the war in Ukraine against Russia. There
- 30:28Speaker 1: was no debate on it because it was thrown in
- 30:31Speaker 1: the omnibus bill and there was no way to separate
- 30:33Speaker 1: it out. And what chip Roy and many of these
- 30:35Speaker 1: other twenties said it was, they said this, They said, look,
- 30:39Speaker 1: we think that a spending measure like funding Ukraine against
- 30:45Speaker 1: Russia should have a debate on its own merits. What
- 30:52Speaker 1: a novel idea? Right? That's not That shouldn't, by the way,
- 30:56Speaker 1: be controversy at all. It shouldn't be in there with
- 30:58Speaker 1: discretionary spending. It shouldn't be in there with high raids
- 31:03Speaker 1: and roads spending. It shouldn't be in there with other
- 31:06Speaker 1: This is a totally separate issue that should be able
- 31:09Speaker 1: to either pass or be voted down on its own merits. Now,
- 31:13Speaker 1: how much money does that save us? I asked Senator
- 31:15Speaker 1: Ted Cruises in our podcast I do with him called Verdict.
- 31:18Speaker 1: You should download it listen to it. And I asked
- 31:20Speaker 1: him this. I said, you know how much money did
- 31:23Speaker 1: we save? He said, potentially trillions of dollars. Certainly hundreds
- 31:28Speaker 1: and hundreds of billions of dollars are saved in the
- 31:30Speaker 1: five day period just by changing these rules. Because now
- 31:33Speaker 1: you can't just throw anything in there you want and
- 31:36Speaker 1: say up or down vote. Oh and by the way,
- 31:39Speaker 1: you don't know it's in the bill. You can't read
- 31:40Speaker 1: the bill. Well, it didn't matter. We just throw it
- 31:43Speaker 1: in there, deal with it, pass it. This was one
- 31:48Speaker 1: of the best weeks, I would argue in modern political history.
- 31:56Speaker 1: This was one of the best weeks that we have
- 32:00Speaker 1: had in a very, very, very long time. And I
- 32:04Speaker 1: am thrilled that it happened the way that it did.
- 32:07Speaker 1: And yeah, there were some people that were doing this
- 32:09Speaker 1: for their own personal reasons or grandstanding right, or because
- 32:13Speaker 1: they just it was a personal thing. I go back
- 32:16Speaker 1: to this, when you're a member of Congress, you need
- 32:20Speaker 1: to remind yourself you're not there to represent yourself. You're
- 32:23Speaker 1: there to represent your constituents. And if you were one
- 32:27Speaker 1: of the twenty and you were there representing your constituents
- 32:29Speaker 1: and asking questions I'm gonna have of your constituents, you
- 32:31Speaker 1: were doing it for the right reasons. If you were
- 32:33Speaker 1: there because you just want to be the thorn the
- 32:35Speaker 1: side of someone else because of personal reasons, that was
- 32:38Speaker 1: stupid and will always be stupid. So were there people
- 32:42Speaker 1: that were brilliant this week, yes? Or there are people
- 32:44Speaker 1: this week that were petty, Yes, But overall it was
- 32:46Speaker 1: worth it so celebrated. This was a week of massive
- 32:53Speaker 1: proportion for the future of our country and we won
- 32:56Speaker 1: one finally. Now look the US this week is going
- 33:00Speaker 1: to be important. We're going to get to see what
- 33:02Speaker 1: the rules package actually says, and that's going to be important.
- 33:07Speaker 1: I will keep you updated on every single day this week,
- 33:11Speaker 1: so make sure that you hit that subscribe button, hit
- 33:14Speaker 1: that auto download button, and I'll see you back here tomorrow.
