Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: We will sit down at the table and negotiate and
- 0:03Speaker 1: see if the smart people in that system can take
- 0:06Speaker 1: over from the crazy people. Well, here's the basic deal
- 0:09Speaker 1: that we cut. The basic deal that we cut was
- 0:11Speaker 1: we'll lift our blockade if you stop shooting at chips,
- 0:14Speaker 1: but if you shoot at ships, we are going to
- 0:16Speaker 1: punch back, and we're gonna punch back harder than ever before.
- 0:20Speaker 2: That was the deal.
- 0:21Speaker 1: They said they would stop shooting at ships. And what
- 0:23Speaker 1: happened twenty four hours ago they start shooting at ships again.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Now they were good, they were well behaved for about
- 0:29Speaker 1: a week, but then they start shooting at ships. So
- 0:31Speaker 1: the deal is very simple. If they shoot at ships,
- 0:33Speaker 1: we're going to knock the hell out of them. And
- 0:35Speaker 1: it's that simple, and that's the basic way it's gonna work.
- 0:39Speaker 2: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben ferguson.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Good Thursday morning. It's nice to have you with us
- 0:45Speaker 3: on the forty seven Morning Update, and we've got a
- 0:47Speaker 3: major story for you coming out of Iran. Donald Trump
- 0:51Speaker 3: is declaring now that the Iranian ceasefire is over and
- 0:54Speaker 3: America is hitting back at Iran hard at this hour. Well,
- 0:58Speaker 3: the President's also saying now wants to make a deal,
- 1:02Speaker 3: but they're crazy and sick people. We have all the
- 1:05Speaker 3: audio and the breaking news. It's the forty seven Morning
- 1:08Speaker 3: Update and it starts right now.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Story number one.
- 1:11Speaker 3: We have major breaking news. President Donald Trump is making
- 1:14Speaker 3: it crystal clear, as far as he's concerned, the ceasefire
- 1:18Speaker 3: with Iran is over.
- 1:20Speaker 4: Now.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Let me be clear, this is not speculation. That is
- 1:24Speaker 3: exactly what he told reporters while attending the NATO summit.
- 1:27Speaker 3: His words were blunt to me, I think it's over.
- 1:31Speaker 3: I don't want to deal with them anymore. They're scum,
- 1:35Speaker 3: They're led by sick people. The president United States of
- 1:38Speaker 3: America making sure that we hit back extremely hard against Iran.
- 1:43Speaker 3: And here's how they described it on ABC News and.
- 1:46Speaker 5: The other breaking story at this hour, the US striking
- 1:48Speaker 5: Iran right now, a US official telling ABC News at
- 1:52Speaker 5: this hour, Tonight's operations are bigger in scope, meant it
- 1:55Speaker 5: a greater Iron's ability to threaten ships in the Strait
- 1:57Speaker 5: of Hormuz. Sencom releasing images of last night's attacks, saying
- 2:01Speaker 5: they struck defense systems and coastal radar. Iran tonight saying
- 2:05Speaker 5: it has targeted US military installations in Bahrain and Kuwait,
- 2:08Speaker 5: and tonight promising more retaliation at this evening. Amid these
- 2:12Speaker 5: new US strikes on Iran, oil prices already surging at
- 2:15Speaker 5: our gas price is set to go up again. Rachel
- 2:18Speaker 5: Scott leading US off.
- 2:19Speaker 6: Tonight tonight as the US launches a new attack on Iran.
- 2:23Speaker 6: The second and twenty four hours, President Trump now declaring
- 2:27Speaker 6: the ceasefire over.
- 2:28Speaker 7: I think it's over. I don't want to deal with them,
- 2:31Speaker 7: in with this scum. You know what scum is. There's
- 2:33Speaker 7: something wrong with them. They're cuckoo.
- 2:35Speaker 6: The new US strikes, hitting Iran's coastal radar sites and
- 2:38Speaker 6: anti ship missile locations as a larger attack than last night,
- 2:44Speaker 6: when eighty targets were hit. It comes in response to
- 2:48Speaker 6: IRN firing on three cargo ships near the Strait of
- 2:50Speaker 6: Her Moves. The big question what comes next? Overnight Iran
- 2:55Speaker 6: launching missiles at US bases in the goal those missiles
- 2:59Speaker 6: intercept it.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Now as you're going to hear there, even ABC News
- 3:02Speaker 3: making it queer the present hitting back very hard. The
- 3:05Speaker 3: President was also asked about what we can expect moving forward,
- 3:09Speaker 3: and here's part of what he had to say in Turkey,
- 3:11Speaker 3: we're not attacking.
- 3:13Speaker 4: At the highest level, the highest level of the bridges
- 3:19Speaker 4: which we can knock down.
- 3:20Speaker 8: I would say, in one day, we knocked down every
- 3:22Speaker 8: single bridge interrand.
- 3:23Speaker 4: There's not a thing they can do about it.
- 3:26Speaker 7: They're electric manufacturing facilities right their electric plants where they
- 3:32Speaker 7: make their electricity in there.
- 3:35Speaker 4: We will if we have to take them out. I
- 3:38Speaker 4: don't want to do that, but if we have to,
- 3:40Speaker 4: we'll take them out.
- 3:42Speaker 7: They have desalinization plants, will take them out if we
- 3:45Speaker 7: have to.
- 3:45Speaker 4: Hate to do that. That's probably the one I would
- 3:48Speaker 4: like not to do. Least. We attacked carg Island last night.
- 3:52Speaker 8: We knocked out a piece.
- 3:53Speaker 7: I said, don't touch the oil because maybe we'll take
- 3:57Speaker 7: over Cargylan.
- 3:59Speaker 4: We may take over. There's not a thing they can
- 4:02Speaker 4: do about it.
- 4:03Speaker 3: And that wasn't all the President had to say about
- 4:05Speaker 3: the warnings of what attacks could happen moving forward, what
- 4:08Speaker 3: targets could happen, even taking over their island, which is
- 4:11Speaker 3: where their oil comes in and out of. President Trump
- 4:14Speaker 3: also said he's just sick and tired of dealing with
- 4:17Speaker 3: the Iranian negotiators.
- 4:19Speaker 7: I don't want to deal with him and him with
- 4:20Speaker 7: this scum. You know what scum is. There's scum, there's
- 4:23Speaker 7: sick people.
- 4:24Speaker 9: President Trump opening the NATO summit by declaring, in his view,
- 4:28Speaker 9: the agreement with Iran is off.
- 4:31Speaker 4: There's something wrong with them. They're cuckoo.
- 4:33Speaker 9: Appearing visibly angry, the President repeatedly criticized Iranian leaders.
- 4:38Speaker 4: They're liars, their cheats, they're sick people.
- 4:43Speaker 9: His comments came hours after renewed US strikes on Iran.
- 4:47Speaker 9: Thick orange smoke seen rising over bandar Abas onto Iran's
- 4:52Speaker 9: main naval base. US Central Command launched what it called
- 4:55Speaker 9: a series of powerful strikes, hitting more than eighty Iranian targets,
- 4:59Speaker 9: including air defense systems, radars, and at least sixty small boats,
- 5:03Speaker 9: all after the US has Iran attacked three tankers in
- 5:06Speaker 9: the Strait of Horror moves.
- 5:07Speaker 4: I think for Judid last night was absolutely necessary. Those
- 5:10Speaker 4: are very strongness points.
- 5:12Speaker 9: Trump also revoked a waiver allowing the sale of Iranian
- 5:15Speaker 9: oil on the world market. In response, atop Iranian warned,
- 5:19Speaker 9: the era of bullying and extortion is over. It leads nowhere.
- 5:23Speaker 9: We don't fold. Iran retaliated with a tax of its own,
- 5:27Speaker 9: saying it launch strikes on eighty five American military targets
- 5:31Speaker 9: in Mahraine and Kuwait. The attacks came during a pause
- 5:36Speaker 9: and negotiations as Iran holds a massive days long funeral
- 5:39Speaker 9: for Ayatola Ali Khamani, the Supreme leader, killed on the
- 5:43Speaker 9: first day of US Israel attacks on Iran.
- 5:45Speaker 7: We say, go and do your funeral stuff, and instead
- 5:49Speaker 7: of it at the set shooting rockets at chips.
- 5:53Speaker 9: At the summit, the President also unloaded on Alliance members
- 5:56Speaker 9: for not doing enough to help the US against Iran.
- 5:59Speaker 4: We protect them, then I did for us. Think of
- 6:01Speaker 4: it because it work.
- 6:02Speaker 3: The Trump Administration's message couldn't be stronger, and the media
- 6:06Speaker 3: is clearly carrying that message. After the President said so
- 6:10Speaker 3: bluntly what he thought about the deal being over and
- 6:13Speaker 3: what could come next, and the White House laying it
- 6:15Speaker 3: out again, saying for decades, Iran has used terrorism, proxy,
- 6:19Speaker 3: malicious hostage taking, attacks on American troops, and threats against
- 6:24Speaker 3: allies as tools of its foreign policy. President Trump says
- 6:29Speaker 3: for forty seven years, Iran acted as the bully of
- 6:32Speaker 3: the Middle East, and he said that error is ending now.
- 6:36Speaker 3: The White House also emphasized that these latest operations are
- 6:39Speaker 3: about much more than retaliation. They're about preventing Iran from
- 6:43Speaker 3: ever becoming a nuclear weapons state. President Trump's to the
- 6:46Speaker 3: United States is prepared to target additional strategic infrastructure if necessary,
- 6:51Speaker 3: including their critical power facilities. He also suggested the US
- 6:56Speaker 3: could dramatically increase pressure on Iran's vital oil infrastructure, including
- 7:02Speaker 3: carg Island, the country's primary oil export terminal, with a
- 7:06Speaker 3: threat that we may take it over. The administration has
- 7:10Speaker 3: also reinstated those major oil sanctions against Iran, tightening the
- 7:14Speaker 3: economic screws once again after determining Tehran violated the ceasefire agreement.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Those sanctions are intended to cut off revenue that Washington
- 7:24Speaker 3: says helps finance Iran's military and their terrorist proxy networks. Now,
- 7:29Speaker 3: if you just take a step back, this isn't happening
- 7:32Speaker 3: in isolation. President Trump is making these announcements while attending
- 7:35Speaker 3: the NATO summit, where another major story is also unfolding.
- 7:40Speaker 3: The White House says Trump has fundamentally changed NATO by
- 7:44Speaker 3: pushing America's allies to shoulder more of the defense burden
- 7:48Speaker 3: rather than relying overwhelmingly on US taxpayers. The administration argues
- 7:53Speaker 3: that increase defend spinning by NATO members is now helping
- 7:57Speaker 3: American manufacturing and strengthening the US defend industrial base as well.
- 8:02Speaker 3: Trump also announced that the United States will license Ukraine
- 8:06Speaker 3: to manufacture Patriot missile defense systems, while leaving open the
- 8:10Speaker 3: possibility of future F thirty five sales to Turkey as well.
- 8:15Speaker 3: So in one trip overseas, what you're seeing is multiple
- 8:19Speaker 3: fronts of American foreign policy moving by the President simultaneously
- 8:24Speaker 3: continued pressure on Iran, NATO burden sharing support for Ukraine's
- 8:30Speaker 3: now air defense systems, strategic discussions with Turkey as well,
- 8:34Speaker 3: and then the diplomatic regions across the Alliance. The White
- 8:38Speaker 3: Houses also point to what they say are encouraging economic
- 8:41Speaker 3: developments at home. President Trump highlighting walmart decision to lower
- 8:45Speaker 3: grocery prices and urge other retailers to follow suit. He
- 8:50Speaker 3: also argued that falling oil and gasoline prices should translate
- 8:54Speaker 3: into lower prices for American consumers across the economy immediately.
- 8:59Speaker 3: And the administrator is also celebrating several new investment announcements
- 9:03Speaker 3: this week, including Apple reported thirty billion dollar investment in
- 9:08Speaker 3: US semiconductor manufacturing and additional manufacturing expansion in Texas, presenting
- 9:14Speaker 3: them as evidence that industrial investment continues flowing into the US.
- 9:19Speaker 3: The White House once again is also urging Congress this
- 9:23Speaker 3: week to advance additional legislation on defense funding as well
- 9:27Speaker 3: as election security out of the midterms, making those priorities
- 9:31Speaker 3: a centerpiece of its domestic agenda. Now, why is the
- 9:35Speaker 3: White House talking about all of this right now? They're
- 9:37Speaker 3: proving that the President is not just focused on Iran.
- 9:41Speaker 3: That you can do multiple things at once, And the
- 9:44Speaker 3: biggest question today is whether a RAN chooses further escalation
- 9:48Speaker 3: or if they actually want to get a deal done.
- 9:51Speaker 3: The President saying this from Air Force one hours after
- 9:55Speaker 3: he had his big meetings at NATO.
- 9:58Speaker 4: We hit Backbuche on trying.
- 10:00Speaker 6: To full sale military conflicts.
- 10:03Speaker 8: I don't know would win it very quickly is another
- 10:05Speaker 8: way of doing We have any ways we can win,
- 10:08Speaker 8: but we've already won militarily.
- 10:09Speaker 4: They have very little, They have very little.
- 10:12Speaker 8: Left, and they want to make a deal so badly.
- 10:14Speaker 8: They called a little while ago. They want to make
- 10:17Speaker 8: a deal so badly. I just don't know if they're
- 10:19Speaker 8: worthy of making the deal. I don't know that they're
- 10:21Speaker 8: going to honor the deal.
- 10:22Speaker 2: That's wrong.
- 10:23Speaker 4: If they want to make a deal, why do you
- 10:24Speaker 4: think they attacked commercial lessons, Because.
- 10:30Speaker 8: It's not crazy, to be honest with you, it's so crazy.
- 10:34Speaker 8: They're a little bit out of good Trump, but they
- 10:36Speaker 8: want to make a deal badly.
- 10:41Speaker 3: The President I said to America, saying that on his
- 10:44Speaker 3: way home on Air Force One. And here's what the
- 10:47Speaker 3: big takeaway is. The United States is demonstrating that not
- 10:50Speaker 3: only is a Trump administration willing to respond militarily after
- 10:54Speaker 3: attacks on international shipping, President Trump has also warned that
- 10:58Speaker 3: these additional strikes will remain on the table, emphasizing that
- 11:02Speaker 3: the objective is to eliminate a rand's ability to threaten
- 11:04Speaker 3: maritime commerce and prevent the region from advancing towards a
- 11:08Speaker 3: nuclear weapon. Now, the coming hours and days, well that's
- 11:12Speaker 3: going to determine whether Ranback's down or whether this confrontation
- 11:16Speaker 3: enters another phase. The one thing that is certain this morning,
- 11:20Speaker 3: the ceasefire that many hoped would stabilize the region appears
- 11:24Speaker 3: to have collapsed, and the United States has made it
- 11:26Speaker 3: clear it intends to respond with overwhelming force if American
- 11:32Speaker 3: interests or international shipping are attacked.
- 11:34Speaker 4: Again.
