- 2:28Speaker 1: Making Conversations, my man, Johnny Wright introductive. Hey man, look
- 2:36Speaker 1: at Johnny. You know, we gotta get a little history together. Man,
- 2:39Speaker 1: we just to come on the Steve Harvey Show and
- 2:41Speaker 1: and then I'll ask you to come out be a
- 2:43Speaker 1: present at the Neighborhood Awards and your your community guy. Man,
- 2:47Speaker 1: I always liked about you, just a regular guy. Fame
- 2:50Speaker 1: has been a blessing for you, but it's never taking
- 2:53Speaker 1: control of your life. Tell us about that. Oh no,
- 2:56Speaker 1: absolutely not. You know, I don't, honestly don't even consider
- 2:58Speaker 1: myself say it. I Uh, I'm just an average Joe
- 3:03Speaker 1: from the South Side of Chicago who had, you know,
- 3:06Speaker 1: some dreams of ascerations. And I was raised well with
- 3:10Speaker 1: parents who worked hard and make sure that we would
- 3:14Speaker 1: provided with everything that we wanted in our lives. And Um,
- 3:17Speaker 1: they believed in me. Um. I was raised with a
- 3:20Speaker 1: hair style of grandmother as well too. That's why I
- 3:23Speaker 1: feel like I got all of my talent from and Um.
- 3:26Speaker 1: You know, I just I. I like to call myself
- 3:29Speaker 1: a people's person and I like to be around the people.
- 3:32Speaker 1: I don't want to be considered famous, so to speak,
- 3:34Speaker 1: because for me, I don't want to anybody to feel
- 3:36Speaker 1: that they can approach me. They can't speak to me,
- 3:38Speaker 1: they can't see me a d M or a messal
- 3:39Speaker 1: to anything like that. You know, I am I am.
- 3:43Speaker 1: I feel like with my talent, I like to say
- 3:46Speaker 1: that I am serving my God and I'm getting rewarded
- 3:50Speaker 1: for it. So that's how I view it more so
- 3:53Speaker 1: than this journey of being famous. You know, it's really
- 3:55Speaker 1: interesting because that's that's true. You are to you choose
- 3:59Speaker 1: your words, but they're all dead on about your personality.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Because our relationships started, I'd like to say, prior to
- 4:06Speaker 1: the explosion of the social media when definitely, you know,
- 4:09Speaker 1: when fame was that. You know, you know, you have
- 4:11Speaker 1: to get your website up and running. You had to
- 4:12Speaker 1: have your little fan club list and all emails and
- 4:15Speaker 1: all that stuff. How has the explosion of the social
- 4:20Speaker 1: media Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and stories and all that
- 4:25Speaker 1: TikTok now has had an impact on building out your
- 4:28Speaker 1: brand and your growth. Oh, it's been. It's been extremely useful.
- 4:33Speaker 1: I would say that, you know, I'm still a little
- 4:35Speaker 1: old school. I do post. I do use my social
- 4:38Speaker 1: media to get information out there and to get things
- 4:40Speaker 1: out there about my business and the things that I'm doing,
- 4:44Speaker 1: But I don't post as much as most people do,
- 4:46Speaker 1: and I definitely don't have I don't even have a
- 4:48Speaker 1: website and all that kind of stuff. So I've been
- 4:52Speaker 1: been able to be very portuive to be connecting to
- 4:55Speaker 1: people through word of mouth. And you know, social media
- 4:58Speaker 1: has been great for me as well too, because that's
- 5:00Speaker 1: how I got, you know, the gig of doing what
- 5:02Speaker 1: I'm doing now with v H one, you know, no
- 5:06Speaker 1: vhy They reached out to me on Facebook. The casting
- 5:10Speaker 1: company reach out to me via Facebook. Yeah, and then
- 5:13Speaker 1: I came in and did a couple of auditions and
- 5:15Speaker 1: did the currency tests with them. Are then then in
- 5:18Speaker 1: restaurant history basically now we have twenty episodes running on
- 5:21Speaker 1: VA twenty and we have the number one training show
- 5:23Speaker 1: on VIAS one right now, and I'm very excited about
- 5:25Speaker 1: the cat the muticians. So for me, you know, I
- 5:28Speaker 1: see the value in um social media. I see um
- 5:34Speaker 1: the need for it. I I also find it to
- 5:37Speaker 1: be fun. Um. The only time that I feel that,
- 5:40Speaker 1: you know, social media could be dangerous and this is
- 5:43Speaker 1: a personal choice for people, is when they they make
- 5:46Speaker 1: it too important, where it becomes you know, some type
- 5:50Speaker 1: of detriments to the insecurities and all those type of things.
- 5:53Speaker 1: And that's when I find it to be a little, um,
- 5:55Speaker 1: not useful. But other than that, you have self control
- 5:59Speaker 1: and you can do that. I think um um media
- 6:02Speaker 1: is amazing, you know, I really Uh let's let's we
- 6:06Speaker 1: know we're in the middle of a pandemic and we
- 6:08Speaker 1: know that African Americans are overtly affected by the by
- 6:12Speaker 1: this virus that does not have a vaccine. And then
- 6:16Speaker 1: when I have a brother who has uh three or
- 6:19Speaker 1: four three barbershops and abautist a lot in the Washington,
- 6:22Speaker 1: d C. Maryland area and he just opened back up
- 6:24Speaker 1: June first, Okay, we restricted them, it's opened up. With
- 6:28Speaker 1: social distancing. You are. I have to say, you're an
- 6:31Speaker 1: expert in the beauty and barber industry. You hear the pain,
- 6:33Speaker 1: you hear the screens, you hear the frustrations. Tell us
- 6:36Speaker 1: about the impact and what what have you been able
- 6:39Speaker 1: to do to to assist, if you've been able to assist,
- 6:42Speaker 1: and this whole pandemic run of trying to understand when
- 6:47Speaker 1: we should open. I'm sure that people have called on
- 6:49Speaker 1: your advice talked to us about this time for the
- 6:51Speaker 1: beauty and barber industry, which is really suffering and struggling
- 6:54Speaker 1: to reopen. Absolutely, you know, I was. I had to
- 6:58Speaker 1: catch myself because in the you know, the getting you know,
- 7:01Speaker 1: in the middle of the COVID and the quarantine, I
- 7:03Speaker 1: saw a lot of posts on Instagram about, you know,
- 7:06Speaker 1: saving the restaurants and dada da da and on this
- 7:08Speaker 1: I'm like, what are you talking about. You can still
- 7:11Speaker 1: order out, you can still get the food, you know,
- 7:13Speaker 1: but as a hairstyle and then the salon industry, you
- 7:16Speaker 1: can't do anything because you can't even be around somebody.
- 7:19Speaker 1: So we were, you know, tremendously affected by this whole thing.
- 7:24Speaker 1: And um and you know, my advict, I remember when
- 7:27Speaker 1: Atlanta was opening up. I remember saying, you know, I
- 7:31Speaker 1: have an after show with Tamar that we do every week,
- 7:34Speaker 1: and that week that they opened up, we had a
- 7:35Speaker 1: few Atlanta stylus come on just to talk about the
- 7:38Speaker 1: steps that they were taking to be safe. But you know,
- 7:41Speaker 1: it's it's hard, you know, because you want to get
- 7:44Speaker 1: back to work outside. I just wanted to make money
- 7:47Speaker 1: and to support your stuff. You want to get back
- 7:49Speaker 1: to your creative being, you know. For me, I haven't
- 7:52Speaker 1: done hair since the show. I mean, we luckily and
- 7:56Speaker 1: thankfully we finished. We wrapped the show literally two weeks
- 8:01Speaker 1: before lockdown. We wrapped the shows that were done, and
- 8:04Speaker 1: that was the last time that I had my hand
- 8:06Speaker 1: and some hair. But I haven't done any air to
- 8:09Speaker 1: me personally, you know, And I particularly mostly work with celebrities,
- 8:14Speaker 1: So there's no celebrities getting done right now, celebrity own
- 8:18Speaker 1: red carpet, there are no events happening right now, there
- 8:21Speaker 1: aren't anywhere carpets, and production is down also and nobody's
- 8:24Speaker 1: doing photo shoots and things like that for content. So
- 8:27Speaker 1: I haven't done any hair. So it definitely affected me
- 8:29Speaker 1: in that sense, and thankfully, you know, I I you know,
- 8:33Speaker 1: I did well with the show, and I have money
- 8:36Speaker 1: in the banks, I'm okay. But you know if I
- 8:39Speaker 1: if I wasn't in that situation, it would be a
- 8:41Speaker 1: hard struggle for me right now. But what I can
- 8:43Speaker 1: say for those that are opening back up, make sure
- 8:48Speaker 1: that you follow all the precautions and that's necessary to
- 8:50Speaker 1: keep your stuff and your clients safe. And this is
- 8:54Speaker 1: the perfect time to raise your prices, not only because
- 8:58Speaker 1: you deserve it, but I'll out of that, it would
- 9:01Speaker 1: make it much easier for you to take less clients,
- 9:04Speaker 1: to keep the salon not so fast. So raise your prices,
- 9:08Speaker 1: govern them up. It's necessarily raise those prices. That way,
- 9:12Speaker 1: you're not working much, you're not working harder as you're
- 9:15Speaker 1: working smarter and you're working more safe. My man, Johnny
- 9:19Speaker 1: right speaking to us, and uh that you know we
- 9:23Speaker 1: I used to always teach you, Johnny, come on the show.
- 9:25Speaker 1: We always teach you know you had the first Lady
- 9:27Speaker 1: Michelle Obama. You know you fact sometimes you calling the
- 9:31Speaker 1: show from the White House. You know are you say
- 9:33Speaker 1: are you say? Hey, Well, I can't talk to you
- 9:35Speaker 1: guys right now. You know we're in a secure security area.
- 9:38Speaker 1: You know, we just has a great conversation, So just
- 9:40Speaker 1: talk about that experience. But because being that's a powerful
- 9:45Speaker 1: role in the very important role that you played, because
- 9:47Speaker 1: you had the respect and uh the First Lady when
- 9:51Speaker 1: she was in the White House to the time. I
- 9:53Speaker 1: will just talk about that a little bit before we
- 9:55Speaker 1: get into the show, which is a fantastic show. VICH
- 9:57Speaker 1: wants to Catch a Beautician. Let's talk about the experience
- 9:59Speaker 1: of be being being with the First Lady and being
- 10:02Speaker 1: the styles of being a confident Yeah, you know, it
- 10:06Speaker 1: was just it was an amazing experience for me and
- 10:09Speaker 1: I can will not change those eight years for the
- 10:12Speaker 1: life of me. So just a lot of things, a
- 10:14Speaker 1: lot of times. A lot of people don't know. I
- 10:16Speaker 1: moved to Los Angeles back in two thousand and seven too,
- 10:21Speaker 1: and I left three hundred clients in Chicago to potentially
- 10:23Speaker 1: have a you know, a presence on television. Of course,
- 10:29Speaker 1: that got beautifully interrupted by the First Lady and I
- 10:31Speaker 1: moved to d C to be with her for those
- 10:34Speaker 1: day years and I couldnt have acted for a better experience.
- 10:37Speaker 1: I've been to over forty five countries with her. I
- 10:40Speaker 1: was able to travel on Airport One and bright Star
- 10:42Speaker 1: and all that exclusivity and it was just an amazing
- 10:45Speaker 1: experience just to experience the first African American first family
- 10:50Speaker 1: at a bird's eye view. Was bart On the best
- 10:54Speaker 1: eight years of my life so far, and I'm so
- 10:58Speaker 1: honored to and thankful that she chose me to work
- 11:01Speaker 1: with her. So my my agent, his name is Kim
- 11:07Speaker 1: Barbo and he's still my agents to this day. Back
- 11:09Speaker 1: in two thousand and seven, maybe two two two to three,
- 11:14Speaker 1: weeks after they announced on Oprah that they were running
- 11:16Speaker 1: for candidacy, he booked me with her for extrass magazine
- 11:20Speaker 1: Zene photo shoots, and I didn't think anything of it,
- 11:23Speaker 1: to be honest, I wasn't too optimistic and thinking that
- 11:25Speaker 1: they were actually going to be in the wire house.
- 11:27Speaker 1: So I just took a job is paying editorial weight.
- 11:30Speaker 1: I was off that day. I was like, fine, I'll
- 11:32Speaker 1: do it, and we met and we hit it off,
- 11:35Speaker 1: and then um I got calls to do her again
- 11:38Speaker 1: for Old Magazine maybe like a month later, and at
- 11:40Speaker 1: the time she wasn't doing covers, of course, she was
- 11:42Speaker 1: just doing like a little inserts and get to know
- 11:45Speaker 1: this sat life as running for president um And then
- 11:48Speaker 1: at that photo shoot between the first photo shoot and
- 11:51Speaker 1: the second photo shoot, I had decided to move here
- 11:53Speaker 1: to Los Angeles and at that photo shoot when we
- 11:56Speaker 1: when we wrapped, I said to her, Hey, I'm moved
- 11:59Speaker 1: to l A. And now basically like good luck, hope
- 12:01Speaker 1: you guys win. And um, I moved to l A
- 12:05Speaker 1: maybe a week and so after that, and we were
- 12:08Speaker 1: able to keep in touch because she was in California
- 12:10Speaker 1: a lot throughout the campaign, and campaign became more and
- 12:13Speaker 1: more intense throughout two thousand and eight, and um, she
- 12:18Speaker 1: would call me whenever she was in l A to
- 12:20Speaker 1: keep her camera ready and I did. And then when
- 12:22Speaker 1: it really changed for me is when I was asked
- 12:25Speaker 1: to come be with her for the first Democratic National
- 12:27Speaker 1: Convention in Denver. And I was with her the whole week.
- 12:31Speaker 1: They flew me out and put me out. I was
- 12:32Speaker 1: looking at whole week and that's when people really saw mine.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Stroke of the brush. You know, that was my first
- 12:38Speaker 1: time doing her hair from start to finish, and it
- 12:41Speaker 1: made an impact. And once they wanted she asked me
- 12:43Speaker 1: and moved to the DC And I did you said,
- 12:45Speaker 1: they saw they contacted you through Facebook. That's how you
- 12:48Speaker 1: got this show. Yes, Yeah, So the casting director reached
- 12:52Speaker 1: out to me directly the page book and said that
- 12:55Speaker 1: he was giving all these other artists hairstyle us to
- 12:59Speaker 1: look into. But he saw me, found me on his
- 13:01Speaker 1: own and he wanted me to come in an audition.
- 13:04Speaker 1: And I came in and did audition. They put me
- 13:06Speaker 1: on tape and then I did I think I did
- 13:08Speaker 1: a second audition, and then they did the chemistry test
- 13:11Speaker 1: in that and so everybody see me and having great chemistry. Um,
- 13:15Speaker 1: and yet cameraman y'all very very little camera. That's too. Yeah. Yeah,
- 13:22Speaker 1: it was great and um and I love the concept
- 13:25Speaker 1: of the show because you know, I got approached a
- 13:27Speaker 1: ton of time to do because it's finally here, the
- 13:33Speaker 1: season of celebration. And no matter how you celebrate with

- 15:27Speaker 1: E r. Dot Ai. When the when the idea came
- 15:30Speaker 1: to me about it, you know, and I'm gonna just
- 15:33Speaker 1: tell everybody I always try to be honest and authentic
- 15:35Speaker 1: on the show. I thought it was going to be
- 15:36Speaker 1: like an ambush show, you know what I'm saying, Like
- 15:39Speaker 1: the Cheaters type show. We know where where where we
- 15:42Speaker 1: leave people feeling bad, you know, the beauticians or whatever
- 15:46Speaker 1: you know, and so and so so. So that was
- 15:49Speaker 1: my first thought. So when this came as to Johnny
- 15:51Speaker 1: got the new show check it out with Shawn to
- 15:53Speaker 1: go man to catch a beauticition. You know, I watched
- 15:55Speaker 1: because I watched Botch you know by Plastic, you know,
- 15:58Speaker 1: watch that then and then, like I said, Cheaters is
- 16:01Speaker 1: a closer example of it, where somebody's cheating and you
- 16:04Speaker 1: show up with a camera crew and go ha ha.
- 16:06Speaker 1: But this show, this show Man, it is not that show.
- 16:10Speaker 1: I'm telling everybody it's not that show. And if you
- 16:13Speaker 1: watch the beginning of each episode, it clearly tells you
- 16:17Speaker 1: the premise. And that's what I like to if you
- 16:21Speaker 1: don't know what this show is about, just wanting you
- 16:23Speaker 1: gotta need complaints and got you got some stereotypes about it,
- 16:26Speaker 1: which what it may be. Watched the opening the show,
- 16:30Speaker 1: it tells you exactly what it is about. And when
- 16:33Speaker 1: I saw that, when I saw the opening credits, I
- 16:35Speaker 1: was sold on the show. Johnny, I really was. That's awesome.
- 16:38Speaker 1: I'm glad to hear that. I'm glad we did that
- 16:41Speaker 1: show explainer because we wanted people to know what the
- 16:44Speaker 1: show was about. And I think that it was going
- 16:46Speaker 1: to be one of those reality we make people feel
- 16:49Speaker 1: bad and people are fighting all that kind of stuff. Listen,
- 16:51Speaker 1: there is drama throughout the show. There is a little
- 16:55Speaker 1: bit of a thing, not necessarily an ambus um, but
- 16:59Speaker 1: of course that's what a sohow need to keep people attention.
- 17:01Speaker 1: But absolutely, but you know, but I would tell you
- 17:05Speaker 1: some man, you know, d Richard don't have hair like
- 17:08Speaker 1: it used to have. But Richard have had some bad
- 17:10Speaker 1: haircuts in his lifetime. Okay, when you gotten and you
- 17:13Speaker 1: paid to do the money, Okay, I paid to do
- 17:16Speaker 1: the money, walked up mad Okay. And this is basically
- 17:19Speaker 1: what this show is about. All those times you've gotten
- 17:22Speaker 1: up out of that beauticians, the beauty chair, beautician walked away,
- 17:26Speaker 1: you gave the money, walked out there, mad. This show
- 17:29Speaker 1: allows you to come back and this this person who
- 17:33Speaker 1: took your money happily took your money. No, they didn't
- 17:36Speaker 1: deliver the goods. This show allows them to fix the
- 17:39Speaker 1: problem and both both parties walk away happy. That's what
- 17:43Speaker 1: I liked about the show, John, I really did. I
- 17:46Speaker 1: enjoyed that. Man. You need a little sting, you need
- 17:48Speaker 1: all that. That's that's entertainment. But the fact that this
- 17:51Speaker 1: show allows for both parties now to be satisfied. Like like,
- 17:56Speaker 1: for instance, this episode was to do with the cowboyd
- 17:58Speaker 1: had right, you know, he walked in because it hide
- 18:02Speaker 1: how they set up the show is these people are
- 18:04Speaker 1: coming to meet Johnny right, you know, big time Johnny, Right,
- 18:08Speaker 1: they said, right, okay, And and and Johnny interviews him
- 18:12Speaker 1: and he starts showing them a little different photos about
- 18:14Speaker 1: different things they've done. This guy in particular, he had
- 18:17Speaker 1: messed up this girl's hair, but on a model, on
- 18:20Speaker 1: a model casting call. And so even during his interview Johnny,
- 18:24Speaker 1: he admitted he didn't do a good job. Remember he
- 18:28Speaker 1: admitted he did do a good job because you asked him.
- 18:30Speaker 1: But you think he said, well, we didn't really do
- 18:32Speaker 1: a good job on our hair. He said that, So,
- 18:35Speaker 1: but did he fix it. No, he kind of messed
- 18:37Speaker 1: it up. And then then that's when the sting part
- 18:41Speaker 1: he talks about. Then Tamar come running out of back
- 18:43Speaker 1: with the camera true camera crew with the Discrotto persons
- 18:46Speaker 1: who had the bad hair do, and that sets the
- 18:48Speaker 1: temple for the show. That to me, man, is just
- 18:52Speaker 1: they are little stunned, you still a little caught off guard,
- 18:54Speaker 1: but you're not blasting them and go get your butt
- 18:57Speaker 1: out of here. You're a horrible brutician. That's what the
- 19:00Speaker 1: That's what I love about that, I'm telling Johnny. I
- 19:03Speaker 1: love that, man, I really do. But to continue to
- 19:05Speaker 1: tell everybody about the show, Johnny, you know, and as
- 19:08Speaker 1: you thinking about it, I would have to say kudos
- 19:10Speaker 1: to v h one because I think this show is
- 19:13Speaker 1: a show that they wanted to pioneer the shifting of
- 19:17Speaker 1: the narrative of the network, you know what I mean.
- 19:19Speaker 1: They didn't want it to be another show of people
- 19:22Speaker 1: fighting and screaming at each other. But there is drama,
- 19:25Speaker 1: but there is always happy and you know, I like
- 19:27Speaker 1: to describe the show as a cross between Botched and
- 19:30Speaker 1: to Catch a Predator. And the reason why I used
- 19:33Speaker 1: those two because of course you have that's pretty sure predator.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Now you might want to drop that, you must, I
- 19:41Speaker 1: got your box. You might want to drop that catch
- 19:43Speaker 1: your predator side. Okay, what the thing is that the
- 19:46Speaker 1: way that I explained it is, you know that that
- 19:49Speaker 1: when the person comes in, they didn't have no idea
- 19:53Speaker 1: that the style of is there. So that's what to
- 19:55Speaker 1: catch the predator apart. But the box part, of course
- 19:57Speaker 1: is the fact that they did mess up. Somebody are
- 20:00Speaker 1: and they're gonna go through and get it done and
- 20:02Speaker 1: and fix it and get it right, you know. And
- 20:04Speaker 1: that's why I really enjoyed it by the show because
- 20:06Speaker 1: I did not want to be on a regular docuseries
- 20:09Speaker 1: where producers are egging you on to kind of like
- 20:12Speaker 1: pin you against your friend and things like that. You know,
- 20:14Speaker 1: I didn't want to be a partners I don't think
- 20:16Speaker 1: they're good for your brand, and I just don't think
- 20:18Speaker 1: they're great television me personally. I understand that they raped
- 20:21Speaker 1: well and all that kind of stuff, but it's just
- 20:23Speaker 1: not the type of TV that I want to do.
- 20:25Speaker 1: This right here was right on brand. It was right
- 20:27Speaker 1: on target with what I wanted to do and how
- 20:29Speaker 1: I wanted my career to continues to flow. And that's
- 20:31Speaker 1: why I love this show so much. You know, it's
- 20:33Speaker 1: it's fun. I'm really interested in it, you know, in
- 20:37Speaker 1: how season two would turn out and the twist and
- 20:40Speaker 1: turns that we will make it that looks like. But
- 20:43Speaker 1: at the end of the day, this season is really good.
- 20:45Speaker 1: We did twenty episodes, which is a lot. We shot
- 20:47Speaker 1: it in two months, which is you know, crazy schedule
- 20:51Speaker 1: we did. We did two episode with twenty episodes, and
- 20:55Speaker 1: each one is totally different. They have a different energy
- 20:58Speaker 1: to them, and anybody, you know, hopefully at the end
- 21:01Speaker 1: it comes out with a happy ending. It really was,
- 21:05Speaker 1: like I said, you know, I'm just letting everybody. I'm
- 21:07Speaker 1: talking to Johnny, right, he just take twenty on twenty
- 21:09Speaker 1: episode series that's not airing on VICH one Top Tamar
- 21:14Speaker 1: Braxton and right come to the rescue of clients whose
- 21:16Speaker 1: hair has been botched by beautician from their past, and
- 21:19Speaker 1: the strategic steam occupation. Because Tamar's in the back, she
- 21:22Speaker 1: has a little, she has little she's communicating with Johnny,
- 21:26Speaker 1: talking back and forth, listening to everything, and you hear,
- 21:28Speaker 1: you hear. You can just see the reaction to the
- 21:31Speaker 1: client with the batch had to do response. Oh he's lying,
- 21:34Speaker 1: he didn't do that, or she didn't do that. Oh
- 21:36Speaker 1: my god, I can't believe that. So you could have
- 21:38Speaker 1: that little fun stuff that's going on the back there.
- 21:40Speaker 1: But Braxton's right, will help dis grown up customers confront
- 21:43Speaker 1: the stylist who damaged their hair. Right, we then put
- 21:47Speaker 1: the petition through a rigorous and he really does not
- 21:49Speaker 1: because now that's what that's what it seems to me.
- 21:52Speaker 1: That's when it gets fun to me, because that's what
- 21:54Speaker 1: I think that the ratings really hold in because you
- 21:58Speaker 1: get to see actual having transformations and then you get
- 22:04Speaker 1: to see the engagement of the beautician and decline because
- 22:07Speaker 1: that's a relationship there and I know that because people
- 22:11Speaker 1: are putting there there for confidence. Sometimes in strangers. Something
- 22:16Speaker 1: In one situation where the sister came in said her
- 22:19Speaker 1: sister messed up. Perhaps I wouldn't. And so many people
- 22:22Speaker 1: need to stop asking for hair, dude that they can't
- 22:24Speaker 1: get Like the home girl who wanted to like she
- 22:27Speaker 1: really needed to stop it. She was never gonna get
- 22:29Speaker 1: in here like Beyonce, but her sister says she could
- 22:32Speaker 1: pull it off. You know, sister messed up her hair
- 22:34Speaker 1: and then you guys have to bring that together. That's
- 22:36Speaker 1: what I'm talking about. Buying George the show because of
- 22:39Speaker 1: the fact that it becomes a like you said, it's
- 22:43Speaker 1: a botched it's a The Predator, the Predator scene where
- 22:47Speaker 1: you people are unsuspectfully bursting through doors and say ah ha.
- 22:51Speaker 1: But it becomes a feel good show, Johnny, it's a
- 22:54Speaker 1: field good show. That's I commend you on holding holding
- 22:59Speaker 1: your ground on that because it is your face. Man,
- 23:01Speaker 1: it is your brand, and you don't want that negative
- 23:04Speaker 1: to dude. You're the first lady. You're the first lady. Yes, yes,
- 23:08Speaker 1: that was important for me. I did not want to
- 23:11Speaker 1: leave the you know, the leader while out of my
- 23:13Speaker 1: first big gig was me cutting and screaming. And first
- 23:16Speaker 1: of all, I always tell people they can't d it
- 23:19Speaker 1: was you don't give them. I would have never given
- 23:20Speaker 1: them that anyway. But at the same time, you know,
- 23:24Speaker 1: just to be in a situation they wanted and people
- 23:26Speaker 1: trying to cohert you to do stuff like that. I
- 23:28Speaker 1: just did not want to do anything like that. So
- 23:30Speaker 1: I was very happy that the universe took this in
- 23:32Speaker 1: my lap and I was able to do this show
- 23:35Speaker 1: very happy. So far. The worst, the worst one I've
- 23:38Speaker 1: seen so far was the what the what? The girl
- 23:41Speaker 1: who had to burn on her head looked like a
- 23:43Speaker 1: giant bubble or hump. Yeah what? She got stuck by
- 23:47Speaker 1: the needle? Right? That one? Well, you know what, Remember
- 23:50Speaker 1: she got burned. Remember she put there? Put they put there.
- 23:52Speaker 1: I believe that they died on their hair. I remember
- 23:55Speaker 1: they started tingling. You said it was it Tingland? Was
- 23:57Speaker 1: it Tingland? And they showed yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
- 24:01Speaker 1: That one that looked pretty bad. Dude, that little at
- 24:05Speaker 1: say tuned. There's so many more that's gonna really you're
- 24:09Speaker 1: not going to which one is the worst one, because
- 24:14Speaker 1: I'm just telling you I just started watching. I would
- 24:16Speaker 1: just let you know I'm a favoy. Come on now,
- 24:18Speaker 1: let me be a favor brother. FA I appreciate it. Now.
- 24:25Speaker 1: How how has the response has been so far with
- 24:28Speaker 1: the with the fans, with the television ratings, with social
- 24:30Speaker 1: media been about the show. And we're talking to Johnny
- 24:33Speaker 1: right he just started the new one of the Stars,
- 24:34Speaker 1: the co stars with Tamar Braxton v H one to
- 24:37Speaker 1: Catch a Beautician. What's been the reaction, So it's been
- 24:41Speaker 1: really positive. You know, we had a conversation, we had
- 24:44Speaker 1: a zoom called me and Tamar and the other exact
- 24:48Speaker 1: v H one. We had a room called last week
- 24:51Speaker 1: and they said they're extremely happy with the show. It's
- 24:54Speaker 1: trending upwards every week. Um, they said, with the number
- 24:57Speaker 1: with the number one trending show of v H one
- 25:00Speaker 1: right now. Um, so it's doing really, really well. You know,
- 25:05Speaker 1: we haven't got the announcement if it's gonna be a
- 25:07Speaker 1: second season yet or not, but I'm pretty sure will be.
- 25:09Speaker 1: I think it should be. Um, and it's just it's
- 25:12Speaker 1: a fun show. So yeah, it's doing very well all
- 25:15Speaker 1: of the you know, I know people do feel a
- 25:19Speaker 1: little chesty sometimes and they feel like they can come
- 25:21Speaker 1: to your page and say something negative because that's how
- 25:24Speaker 1: they feel. But I have not had one negative comment
- 25:28Speaker 1: on it show. In fact, I had people who when
- 25:30Speaker 1: we were promoting this show, They're saying, like, I don't
- 25:33Speaker 1: want to watch this show. They literally came back and said, sorry,
- 25:37Speaker 1: I thought I didn't want to watch the show, but
- 25:38Speaker 1: I cannot stop watching and I'm addicted to it. So
- 25:41Speaker 1: people are really really enjoying it show. But that's what
- 25:44Speaker 1: That's what I'm talking about me. That's what I'm saying
- 25:46Speaker 1: about me. I just wanted telling anybody who's listening, don't
- 25:49Speaker 1: get caught up in the stereotype of you think what
- 25:51Speaker 1: the show is. If you just watch the promo, the
- 25:54Speaker 1: opening promo the show, it explains in great detail about
- 25:59Speaker 1: how this show plays out and how both parties you
- 26:02Speaker 1: get to be, you know, satisfied. That's what I like
- 26:05Speaker 1: about the show. You know, the person that's in on
- 26:07Speaker 1: the stand of the victim, they get to meet, they
- 26:10Speaker 1: get to confront each other in a positive manner because hey,
- 26:14Speaker 1: this person is not happy. They gave you money but
- 26:16Speaker 1: they weren't happy. Are you willing to fix the problem.
- 26:19Speaker 1: And then they go through the boot camp and you
- 26:21Speaker 1: get the big walla even even some of the stylet's
- 26:24Speaker 1: go wow wow. If I'm always talking like that, I'm like, wow,
- 26:31Speaker 1: they did a great job. And I's like, and then
- 26:34Speaker 1: you know this edited where it looks like I'm just
- 26:36Speaker 1: with them for a minute. I'm actually looking for a
- 26:38Speaker 1: very long time before they actually styled and finished the hair.
- 26:41Speaker 1: But it still stocked me when I see it that
- 26:44Speaker 1: there looks amazing. Well, John, that wouldn't thank you for
- 26:46Speaker 1: coming on the show. Great talking to you again, man.
