- 0:00The B -Side and Boxing. B -Side shit. B -Side.
- 0:04B -Side. And the B -Side. You got a B -Side.
- 0:06The B -Side. B -Side. B -Side. B -Side. The B
- 0:10-Side thing. This is the B -Sides Boxing Podcast.
- 0:20That timer is running. Alright. Boxing B -Sides.
- 0:27We are back up in your ears to talk the fights.
- 0:31Joined by Josh, Saul, fellas, how we doing? Fantastic.
- 0:36You're doing good. This is going to be a good
- 0:38week. Yeah. Amazing week, actually. Goated week.
- 0:43We don't have any MMA talk this week, but if
- 0:46you want ultimate effing casuals, we break down
- 0:49all the fights over there. Before we get into
- 0:55the news... One really quick bxng .co slash survey.
- 1:00I want to hear what you think about the titles
- 1:03and their prestige or perceived corruption, etc.
- 1:09And the Muhammad Ali Boxing Revival Act. It has
- 1:13left committee in the Senate, but it is yet to
- 1:16be brought to the floor. So this is your chance
- 1:19to go to luxmedia .net slash b -sides. Contact
- 1:24your senators. and let him know to oppose this
- 1:27legislation. Quickly... Not quickly. Into the
- 1:34news. Michaela Mayer, Chantel Cameron, a three
- 1:39-title fight on August 29th. It's MVP 6, I think
- 1:45it is. I'm glad MVP is still really doing the
- 1:50women's boxing support thing. Even if Jake Paul
- 1:55looks to be out of boxing, it seems. I'm glad
- 1:59they're still doing this. Is he out of boxing?
- 2:04Well, he's being kind of forced to. Oh, it's
- 2:07his mouth, right? Yeah, his jaw was really messed
- 2:11up by AJ. Yeah, so even if there's no serious
- 2:14plans for him to come back, at least in the short
- 2:17term, I'm glad it's not just like... a thing
- 2:21that he drops like influencers do when their
- 2:24fans do die out. This is something he's committing
- 2:32to that I appreciate. Caroline Dubois versus
- 2:39Amelia Moore will be the co -main for that. It's
- 2:44not a bad fight either. Are you ready for Demetrius
- 2:53Andre to return? Opponent TBA, but July 24th,
- 3:01he will be back at the Mohegan Sun. He's got
- 3:05to be fighting someone that's not that good,
- 3:06dude. He's got to be fighting a who knows. Which
- 3:08promotion is it? Fuck. CES Boxing. CES, that's
- 3:16right. He's not getting that PBC bag anymore,
- 3:18I'll tell you that. No, I think the biggest drop
- 3:22-off is going from Matchroom of USA. Let's see,
- 3:29what is this? You know what? I'm not that mad
- 3:34that he's coming back. I think it'd be pretty
- 3:40funny to see him get into another big fight and
- 3:45get washed. Yeah, I'm trying to look for any
- 3:52news on CES fights. I want to see what they are,
- 3:55what they do. I've seen Rashidi Ellis on CES
- 4:00before. There we go. Jermaine Ortiz. That's a
- 4:05name. Yeah. Yeah, interesting. You know, there's
- 4:13worse places to be. I can't even blame him. He'd
- 4:18not be fighting at all. Or he could be worse.
- 4:22He could be with Don King. That's true. Or whatever
- 4:28Triller or Triller's up to or if BLK Prime made
- 4:35a comeback ever. Yeah. Don't know who he's fighting
- 4:44but it's his first one back since he got beat
- 4:47by Benavidez. Benavidez. You know what? Power
- 4:55to him as long as he doesn't look like complete,
- 4:57like, what are we doing in the ring? Like, washed
- 5:02up, you know? Two and a half years. Do you think
- 5:08he's going to be washed? I'm going to say, yeah,
- 5:10it's been a long time. Oh, he's going to look
- 5:12washed up, but there's, like, degrees of washed
- 5:14up, you know? I think he's going to look horrible.
- 5:18Well, the thing is that I will say, it'll be
- 5:22his legs that aren't as good as they were when
- 5:24he was in his prime. So I feel like he'll be...
- 5:28You know that old man Rego, he has to stand and
- 5:30fight now. Araslandi Lara as well. Yeah, like
- 5:36the Lara old age. I feel like that's what's going
- 5:38to hit him and not all of a sudden he's actually...
- 5:41Regis can't stand up. Washed. So I think it'll
- 5:50be good. It'll at least be fun to see how far
- 5:53it goes. Yeah. I mean, imagine he unlocks his
- 5:59crazy power. Yeah, but Lara wasn't like... Lara
- 6:04had power, but it's not... Yeah, like Shiraz
- 6:10is the 168 champ. If we're... If he's gonna ladder
- 6:16his way up the WBO like he always has. Go back
- 6:21to Matchroom? Yeah, probably. We could go back
- 6:25to that. How about... I could see Matchroom honestly
- 6:33getting Andrade back. Picking him back up? Yeah.
- 6:37Picking him back up just to fill up the undercards?
- 6:40Wouldn't be a bad undercard filler, and then
- 6:42eventually, like, yeah, he's going to earn a
- 6:44bigger fight, and then... Yeah, it'll work out.
- 6:48I can honestly see something like that, dude.
- 6:52I don't mind it this time because he's got the
- 6:55old man legs. He can't. Can't run. Unless he
- 6:58does a Rigo Casimero surprise, I still got it.
- 7:03Punk still got it performance. Nah, this should
- 7:06be good. Speaking of WBO, Devin Haney's Mandatory
- 7:15has been made Keyshawn Davis. I would like to
- 7:20see that fight. It's a really good fight. Honestly,
- 7:29I feel like... First of all, that fight's not
- 7:33happening. You don't think so? No, that's not
- 7:36going to happen. Because that has to happen by
- 7:37the end of July, right? Yeah, I believe they
- 7:41have to have a deal by that time. They have to
- 7:43have a deal by the end of July, which is... That's
- 7:45a lot of time. Well, that is a lot of time. But
- 7:48also, Keyshawn... I don't know. If he's a top
- 7:52-ranking, if Devin Haney is supposedly with Zufa,
- 7:56I don't know. I think that's just another case
- 8:01of Zufa using the likeness of a fighter. I don't
- 8:06know. First of all, I think Keyshawn will win
- 8:08that fight. Well, yes. But Haney isn't. I will
- 8:13say many things about Devin Haney inside the
- 8:15ring. But he will generally take. the challenges
- 8:20available to him. Oh, yeah. I mean, he took Lomachenko
- 8:24when he didn't have to. A lot of his fights he
- 8:26didn't have to take in his, like, ever since
- 8:29after beating Cambosos. He never had to take
- 8:32Ryan. He never had to take Loma. Even Norman.
- 8:35Norman is a rebound. 100%, yeah. Norman as a
- 8:39rebound is also with Ramirez. Ramirez, we knew
- 8:44it was going to happen there, but even then,
- 8:46it's like, these are guys he doesn't have to.
- 8:48Also with how the world saw Norman as. Yeah.
- 8:53I mean, how we saw Norman as. He really didn't
- 8:56have to. I'm not really trying to say that Devon
- 8:59won't take the fight because he's scared. I mean,
- 9:02Haney, I've given him his credit. The entire
- 9:06time I've been on this pod, I've been giving
- 9:07him his flowers. About how the balls are fighting
- 9:10someone. Yeah, so I don't think that'll be the
- 9:13issue. They're both pretty top -ranked. They're
- 9:17both pretty top -ranked adjacent guys. Yeah.
- 9:23Haney fought on top -ranked before, had a pretty
- 9:29good relationship. He's just... If the fight
- 9:33presents itself on a top -ranked show, he'll
- 9:35go. It's just that the money has to show itself,
- 9:37too. I mean, he's always been a free agent type
- 9:40of guy. He'll go anywhere. Yeah, so it'll work.
- 9:44Isn't Keyshawn a top rank? Isn't he signed with
- 9:46top rank? Yeah. Keyshawn is top rank, and Haney
- 9:50is a free agent type guy, so there's no reason
- 9:52it shouldn't happen. Well, the reason I say that,
- 9:54too, is that also I thought Haney was supposedly
- 9:56going with Zufa. Yeah. Well, that's like, I feel
- 10:01like that's part of the Zufa marketing at this
- 10:03point, and why those cease and desist are getting
- 10:05sent out, because, like, where... The whole thing
- 10:09is they're trying to make themselves seem a lot
- 10:11bigger than they are. So, like, if you attach
- 10:15yourself to the names in the sport, it's a lot,
- 10:18even if you're not actually attached to those
- 10:20names, it's a lot easier to the casual fan to
- 10:23swallow that than to be like, oh, so we're going
- 10:27to kill boxing, but our biggest name is Edgar
- 10:28Berlanga. Oh, guys, we got Devin Haney on Zufa
- 10:33over here. Yeah, we have Devin Haney coming to
- 10:35Zufa eventually. Yeah, like, that's the, that's
- 10:38why, same with Ryan, like, oh, Ryan on Zufa.
- 10:44I mean, I totally see Ryan go to Zufa, but that's
- 10:46the conversation of the day. Yeah. But, it hasn't
- 10:49happened yet, and it's, yeah. But honestly, I
- 10:53mean, I just thought of the point that Josh said
- 10:58a long time ago, a long, long time ago, where,
- 11:01uh, Keyshawn is, uh, his mind, He's not champion
- 11:07level. His ability to fight is obviously, you
- 11:12know, 100. Yeah, the indiscipline is not. Exactly.
- 11:16I mean, he should have finished all bright. I
- 11:21mean, you can look at it both ways, honestly.
- 11:25You can say that Keyshawn, he's a little more
- 11:27unorthodox for someone like Devin Haney, where
- 11:30Devin's going to have trouble trying to fight
- 11:33someone like Keyshawn. Where he moves and we
- 11:36got power. Keyshawn could get really frustrated.
- 11:39Exactly. If Albright, Nahir Albright, is frustrating
- 11:44Keyshawn to the point of jumping him backstage.
- 11:48And throwing him. And throwing him to the ground.
- 11:52Yeah. What is Devin Haney going to do? Because,
- 11:56again, I am not a Devin Haney enjoyer. But he
- 12:00is a very frustrating guy to fight. In and out
- 12:04of the ring. And the biggest... Keyshawn's biggest
- 12:09enemy is going to be himself. Yeah. Should I
- 12:13finish the point you're saying? He's just...
- 12:16He's very frustrating to deal with. And it's
- 12:19not... I don't think Keyshawn has the poise to...
- 12:22Especially 12 rounds, because I'm like, let's
- 12:26be real. Like, Ryan... He does not have Ryan's
- 12:30speed and timing. I think he has timing, but
- 12:35I don't think he has speed. I think he has that
- 12:38timing down. But the speed, a lot of Brian's
- 12:41timing does come from the speed. Brian's also
- 12:44weird and frustrating to fight with the silly
- 12:46shell and everything, too. He's also, for lack
- 12:50of a better term, he's an unorthodox fighter.
- 12:53Yeah, like I will say, a lot of those left hooks
- 12:56that came at Devin Haney were from the silly
- 12:59shell. So, super very much is, it's interesting.
- 13:07I do want to see it, but I think Haney pulls
- 13:11it off. No, see, the more I think about it, I
- 13:17think I might agree with you just because, like
- 13:20I was saying, Keyshawn is his own op. You're
- 13:24never going to know if he's going to be 100 %
- 13:26in fight night or if he's freaking wallowing
- 13:31away. with liquor, you know? I mean, honestly,
- 13:36if Keyshawn is at 100 % and Devin Haney's antics
- 13:39don't mess with his head, and if Keyshawn doesn't
- 13:42even get it in his own mind himself... Oh, if
- 13:46Keyshawn's dialed in and doesn't let himself
- 13:47get frustrated, he probably stops Haney late.
- 13:50100%. But, honestly, the way I see the fight,
- 13:54Keyshawn probably takes way too long to start
- 13:56and doesn't have the... the heart to finish it
- 14:02off. Not finish it off, but... He doesn't get
- 14:06started fast enough, and then he gets frustrated
- 14:09and he just loses. That's a good view, actually.
- 14:12I was thinking he'd try and box with Haney early
- 14:15and get going, rush his work and get frustrated,
- 14:18and then late, he just... I mean, he either bowels
- 14:24or just kind of... Collapses. Yeah, like, it
- 14:29collapses. Like, I'm not saying he gets stopped,
- 14:30but I'm saying there is a clear, like... There's
- 14:35a difference between, like, the round one where
- 14:37he's almost boxing with Haney and late, where,
- 14:41like, not at all, he's getting picked apart.
- 14:45I think it's just a tale of two fights, you know?
- 14:47Either he starts off early and falters late in
- 14:51the fight, or he starts off slow and somewhat
- 14:55picks it up late in the fight, but it's not enough.
- 14:57I also really think it depends on how Keyshawn
- 15:01is able to successfully start the fight. Because
- 15:04you saw early with Ryan that, like, for lack
- 15:07of a better word, Ryan took, like, 30 seconds
- 15:10and immediately scared Haney out of engaging.
- 15:14Meaningfully. But, I mean, Haney got up. Every
- 15:20time he got knocked down, he got up. And every
- 15:23time he pushed back, he came back. When Haney
- 15:26was boxing, he was winning the rounds he boxed
- 15:30in, but just, you know, you scare Haney out of
- 15:33his rhythm, and he's throwing home run shots
- 15:35against Ryan that, like, single shots that Ryan
- 15:41can pick off. So it really depends on how Keyshawn
- 15:45handles the early goings. Well, Devin Haney started
- 15:51out really well against Norman, and then he just
- 15:54took his foot off the gas. Yeah, but he stayed
- 15:58in the rhythm. He didn't get unfocused. He didn't
- 16:01have to take his foot off the gas, or he didn't
- 16:02have to put his foot down. Yeah, there's that
- 16:05rhythm that a Haney fight will go in that you've
- 16:09seen been broken at several points, but I feel
- 16:12like since... The Ryan fight, he's gotten hyper
- 16:17aware of this. And while he doesn't, his defensive
- 16:19flaws are still super there. The ability to knock
- 16:24him off his rhythm is something that has gotten
- 16:28a little harder for guys. Because you saw Norman
- 16:31definitely tried, and that's how he got caught.
- 16:34It's only, I mean, it's only been two fights.
- 16:38Yeah, but it's been several years. Yeah. And
- 16:42he's not a guy who goes out of camp and gets
- 16:44shit -faced. He's a guy who stays campy around.
- 16:49Not wrong, yeah. So, like, I'm thinking, like,
- 16:53especially because it's not like a technical
- 16:55flaw that you need a coach to coach out of you.
- 16:58It's very much a mental thing that if you can
- 17:01identify it, you can work on it pretty easily
- 17:04with not even some soul -searching, just some
- 17:06more focus. You think after he lost, he realized,
- 17:10hey, I got to step it up in this way, this way,
- 17:13this way. He actually made the adjustments. He
- 17:15strikes me as a guy who watches tape. And, you
- 17:19know, looking at Lomachenko, looking at his fight
- 17:25with Ryan, looking at his fight with Linares.
- 17:28There's like key moments in these fights where
- 17:30he gets taken off rhythm and it costs him big
- 17:33stretches of the fight. I feel like this is,
- 17:40you know, it's something you can clearly identify.
- 17:44It's not like, you know, like Andrew Gulotta
- 17:48is a great example of a guy who would just randomly
- 17:51lose focus and either get stopped or start hitting
- 17:54guys in the balls. Like, there's a clear pattern
- 18:00here where his opponent will give him a little
- 18:02too much pressure, he'll square up, and he'll
- 18:03get caught. And it's mainly getting the rhythm
- 18:09back that he struggles with. Well, who will struggle
- 18:19with the rhythm here? Gervonta Davis versus Floyd
- 18:22Schofield. Negotiations are going well. Schofield
- 18:26ain't making it in the ring. Well, hey, who's...
- 18:30Hold up, hold up, hold up, hold up, hold up.
- 18:32Hold up. What's the new virus? Antivirus? No,
- 18:38he might be another woman. Tank might be another
- 18:41woman. Isn't Tank on the run? Yeah, Tank's on
- 18:44the run from the FBI. Schofield's looking for
- 18:46new viruses to give himself. This is not happening.
- 18:49Yeah, at least Schofield's in the country. I
- 18:51think he's in the country. Yeah, with a USB -C
- 18:55cable in his mouth. When you said USB -C, I was
- 19:02thinking like the WBCs. U .S. title? What? When
- 19:08did he win that? When did he win that? No. When
- 19:12did he fight? I love the hospital pictures so
- 19:16much because nothing... Like, how do you even
- 19:20get into a hospital to take this picture? Well,
- 19:24I mean, he actually was in the hospital. No,
- 19:26he was in the hospital or something. But he was
- 19:29in the hospital because he partied too much.
- 19:32Hey, but I'm looking at the USB cables up his
- 19:35nose. There's an Ethernet cable in his mouth,
- 19:38dude. You can say he's tapped into the Matrix.
- 19:45He's improving his download speed, so he doesn't
- 19:50have to spend eight rounds doing jack shit. When's
- 19:54the last time Floyd Schofield was in the ring?
- 19:57When he fought Tevin Farmer. Actually, last June.
- 20:02It's going to be a year tomorrow. Yeah, Tevin
- 20:06Farmer, knocking out Tevin Farmer. A year, yeah.
- 20:09That's actually very bad. One round in two years
- 20:12is kind of insane. What's one round in a year
- 20:18and a half? Because I think he fought in October.
- 20:20It will be two years. By the time he steps in
- 20:23the ring next, it will be two years. He was supposed
- 20:27to fight last October. What sucks is that he's
- 20:31not even bad. He's actually a very good prospect.
- 20:35Contender now, actually. Contender? Yeah. Tank
- 20:41Schofield is for the vacant WBA lightweight title.
- 20:45Oh, Jesus. You're right. Contender. He's very
- 20:49good. I actually do not hate Schofield. It's
- 20:53just really funny how unfortunate his career
- 20:58has been. If I read the WBA info correctly, If
- 21:04the fight does not materialize, then Schofield
- 21:08will be appointed the title. Holy fuck. So, email
- 21:14champ? Oh, email champ. Schofield. It will take
- 21:21it. Oh my god, he'll get it directly through
- 21:23the cables, too. That's fucked up. Yeah, I don't
- 21:33know how a fight where one of the fighters is
- 21:36actively on the lam. How are they negotiating?
- 21:44This is some super extreme favoritism from the
- 21:49WBA. Like, how the hell are you going to organize
- 21:51a fight between a guy on the run? I mean, let's
- 21:56just for shits and giggles. Let's say the fight
- 21:59does. Let's say it happens. Golden Boy and PPC
- 22:03have been pretty good with each other. I mean,
- 22:07do you guys think Schofield got a shot? Or is
- 22:12this another case of, you know... I mean, it
- 22:14depends on what tank. I mean, from the fighters
- 22:20you've seen Tank go up against in the past, I
- 22:23mean... I think it'll go similar to the Frank
- 22:25Martin fight. Yeah. Where Schofield will start
- 22:30off well. And then as tank downloads, as we like
- 22:37to say, it'll start shifting before it ends in
- 22:42a stoppage. I don't know. I mean, I got to support
- 22:48Skopje as my guy, but in actuality, I kind of
- 22:51agree. I think he makes way too many mistakes
- 22:53to the point where... Like, against Shakur, I
- 22:58mean, he's not going to get stopped. Okay. Against
- 23:02other guys, he's not going to get stopped. But
- 23:03Tank, I'm not going to sit here in line and be
- 23:06like, hey, I think he knocks out Tank. I mean,
- 23:09he can. But I haven't personally seen enough
- 23:12of him to confidently say, oh, he's a knockout
- 23:16artist type of guy. I mean, he knocks out guys,
- 23:17but he's not, you know, known to be like that
- 23:20yet, you know? Yeah. So, for me, I've seen Tank
- 23:25over the years. I've seen him. Whether I like
- 23:27Tank or not, I know he's a... He's an amazing
- 23:30counterpuncher. Probably one of the best in the
- 23:32sport right now, depending on whether he's still
- 23:36in the sport. But, I mean, we saw, what was that
- 23:41fight with Rene Tejas? I mean, Schofield was,
- 23:45yes, he took him to a decision, and yes, he won
- 23:49the fight, but he got dropped. And, yeah, it
- 23:53was, you know, not a crazy bad drop, but... Come
- 23:58on. Tank's going to do it much worse. Yeah. All
- 24:03I got to say is Schofield's got to not get hit
- 24:07and hit hard to get the respect to Tank. And
- 24:12that's not happening. What's the advice? The
- 24:16punch -out advice? Join the Nintendo fan club
- 24:18today? I don't know. All I got to say is, man,
- 24:26Schofield... Good luck. I wish you the best.
- 24:30Go on, my son. Go on, my son. Go on, my son.
- 24:33I love it. I still support you, and I'm going
- 24:37to support you in this fight no matter what.
- 24:39But I know you got it. Go on, my son. Noel McCallion
- 24:47will be facing his mandatory David Benavidez.
- 24:53Fire. Look at this. Some common sense. Yeah,
- 25:00I think it's... We salute you for rebuffing Zufa.
- 25:07I think it's a decent fight. I'm not going to
- 25:11say it's a fight I want to see. I mean, there's
- 25:14many other fights I want to see, but at least
- 25:15it's a championship -level fight. It's unification.
- 25:19It's what's available. Yeah. You obviously know
- 25:22that B -Bowl was not going to take that fight
- 25:26with Benavidez right now. Not with the money
- 25:29that... they're offering him to fight Beterbiev
- 25:32for the trilogy. In his home country, too. I
- 25:36mean, he would be kind of silly to say, you know.
- 25:40It would be silly to take Benavidez instead of
- 25:42that. Exactly. As much as I want the coronation
- 25:50of Benavidez, well, more crowns anyway. Yeah,
- 26:01Jai Opataya, the chair is in the corner, buddy.
- 26:06Get ready to sit and wait. Yep. He's waiting
- 26:10to get his belt. He can fight Chris Willem -Smith.
- 26:15He's waiting to get that belt back. You guys
- 26:20think that's really going to happen? No. The
- 26:24mandatory for the IBF is already being set up.
- 26:28That sucks, dude. The, um, vacant fight, I mean.
- 26:33There's, um, Vidal Riley is the number one contender.
- 26:37They're setting up the number two contender.
- 26:39True. Do you guys really think that Opetai would
- 26:43have gone in the fight had he stayed with, uh,
- 26:45his, uh, his previous promoter? Honestly, probably.
- 26:47If he stayed with Boxer, especially now that
- 26:49they're with his own, yeah. It's doable. It's
- 26:56very doable. Man, I want Benavidez to actually
- 27:03have, like, a blockbuster fight against a huge...
- 27:06Someone? Yeah, like, another big name, you know?
- 27:09Against fucking Noah McKeelyan. Again, it's a
- 27:12champ, but it's... It's Noah McKeelyan, come
- 27:14on. Cruiserweight champ. That's true. Well, it's
- 27:19at least... It's better than, like, being something
- 27:22just bad. What, Callum Smith? Like, it could
- 27:27be way worse. Dragging Callum Smith up or something,
- 27:31it's not... That's true. At least it's not Callum
- 27:33Smith. But... It's a Don... Don't know if Bikilian
- 27:41is a Don King fighter, right? Correct. Yep. How
- 27:45often do you see the PBC working with Don King?
- 27:51I'm sure Samson would work with Don King. Don's
- 28:01still kicking around. Oh, yeah, there's that
- 28:04little thing in Discord. Who do you think is
- 28:08going to survive longer? Pick your role. I think
- 28:17the most evil lasts the longest, and it's obviously...
- 28:20It's Don King. It's got to go to Don King. He's
- 28:23got to last longer, man. It's going to be Don
- 28:27King, I fear. Oh, Bob. I mean, Bob's still kicking,
- 28:32too. Shit. No, Bob's out of hatred. Yeah. Bob's
- 28:40seen everything from Ali to Dave Allen. Oh, my
- 28:45God. You're right. Bob did probably watch a Dave
- 28:47Allen fight in his life. Holy fuck. I mean, he's
- 28:52probably seen worse than Dave Allen, honestly.
- 28:54Dave Allen's bad to us, but to Bob, I mean, Bob's
- 28:57seen... millions of fights in his time. Yeah,
- 29:00you're right. You're right. But we all know Dave
- 29:04is probably not one of the better fighters we've
- 29:08seen. Last bit of news. We got to keep it rolling.
- 29:16Oh, yeah. Anthony Joshua Tyson Fury is not officially
- 29:20announced yet, but we are... The word on the
- 29:25street is that... it will be happening in the
- 29:28UK. Contractually obligated to be in the UK.
- 29:31Well, where else would it be? Tyson Fury isn't
- 29:33allowed in the United States. He's on the no
- 29:35-fly list. Really? He was at the Freedom 250.
- 29:41Really? It's crazy that they let him out. They
- 29:44probably let him in directly somehow. What the
- 29:47fuck is this administration? They gave him the
- 29:50gold card. He's been, yeah, literally, he's been
- 29:52on the no -fly list for ages because of his association
- 29:55with Daniel Kinahan. So that's why I'm like,
- 30:02oh, okay. But that's it. That's it for the news.

- 33:30-u -l. All right. Recaps. First thing, Thursday,
- 33:41June 11th, we had Eye of the Tiger on DAZN. Just
- 33:48going to point out, Leila Boudouin gets the UD
- 33:53over Paulina Angel for the interim WBA 130. And
- 34:00main event, Wilkins Matthew. stops Esquiva Falcao
- 34:05in the eighth. It's actually not a bad win. Is
- 34:11Thomas Chabot, is that the guy you used to talk
- 34:15about? No, that's the guy who lost to Cloutier.
- 34:18Oh, okay. There's one loss. Actually, Cloutier
- 34:26won yesterday in Saskatoon in his hometown. Oh,
- 34:29nice. Fun fact. Yeah. I was shocked they didn't
- 34:36drop Chabot like a pile of... Like a bad habit?
- 34:41Yeah, like, I don't know why they didn't... Like,
- 34:43usually they drop a guy after their first loss.
- 34:47Like, Eric Bazaran's been missing from these
- 34:49cards since he lost in the WBC Grand Prix. And
- 34:55that was, like, a real fight. Chabot lost to
- 34:58a guy they brought in to beat him. So, you know
- 35:08what? Power to him. Power to Eye of the Tiger.
- 35:15Falcao's a really good win. I can't even lie.
- 35:21He's a good, solid, older kind of gatekeeper.
- 35:31Let's roll to Saturday, June 13th. First thing
- 35:36to get it out of the way. MF Pro at the Manchester
- 35:43Arena. Tommy Fury gets the majority decision
- 35:47over Eddie Hall. Certainly a fight of all time.
- 35:56Yeah, it was... Yeah. Certainly one of the fights
- 36:03ever. It was Circus Act. It's Circus Act. Absolutely.
- 36:07Six rounds, two minute rounds. If you're 12,
- 36:11Tommy Fury's gotta be the GOAT, though. Oh, for
- 36:15beating up the fucking mountain of a person?
- 36:18He's beaten, no, but he's beaten everyone. All
- 36:21of the memes. Like, he beat Jake Paul and KSI
- 36:25and now Eddie Hall. He's got like the infinity
- 36:31gauntlet of memes. He's got to be the GOAT. Honestly,
- 36:33I can't lie. The GOAT boxer. The savior. If you're
- 36:3812, he's got to be the GOAT. That being said,
- 36:44I will own being wrong about this one. I thought
- 36:48Tommy Fury was going to lose this one. Like the
- 36:52Haseen Rotman, Greg Hardy fight. I thought it
- 36:57was going to look like that and not. like this.
- 37:00So I'm being wrong about a fight three people
- 37:03watched. Gotta eat your crow. Oh yeah. MVP W4
- 37:15at the Caribbean Royale in Orlando, Florida.
- 37:20The only stoppages on the card were the men's
- 37:25fights. That happens. Yeah, that's rough. It
- 37:33happens. It happens. I don't mind it when that
- 37:37happens. It's just the fights have to be less
- 37:40of a slog. I can't lie. But going up the list,
- 37:49let's see here. Estefani Alegria gets the UD
- 37:55to claim... The IBF, WBA, and WBO titles from
- 38:00Evelyn Bermudez. Natalie Delgado claims the WBA
- 38:07super flyweight title from Jasmine Artiga. Tiara
- 38:12Brown retains her WBC featherweight title with
- 38:15a win over Hannah Rapp. And O'Shea Jones split
- 38:21draw with Aliyah Carranza. IBF Super Welterweight
- 38:26title was on the line there. Expect a trilogy.
- 38:35Yep. Moving to Matchroom on DAZN at the Desert
- 38:43Diamond Arena here in Phoenix. Oh, shit. Starting
- 38:48from the bottom up. We're going through all of
- 38:51them. Ronnie Alvarez, TKO7 over Filip Stankovic.
- 38:56Stankovic was game to start, but Ronnie was really
- 39:01working that body. And down the stretch, it was
- 39:06a real problem. Yeah, it was a real problem.
- 39:13Hector Beltran stops Shaquille Felicia in the
- 39:17second. Hold on a sec. Let's see. Felicia was
- 39:27mobile in the beginning. Hector was doing the
- 39:32old downloading. The mobility was giving Hector
- 39:36some trouble, but eventually he caught up to
- 39:38him. And he got him buzzed at the end of the
- 39:42first, but Felicia was going hard to the body
- 39:48in the second. But wasn't really doing more than
- 39:51ones and twos. Not a lot of combination punching.
- 39:58What else do we got here? Hector honestly did
- 40:01adjust decently well. Yes. I got to give it to
- 40:05him. The adjustments came at the end of the second.
- 40:10Ref pulled the plug. And you know, it's always
- 40:13good to see a fighter adjust pretty quickly too.
- 40:17You know? Yeah. A lot of top -level guys, you
- 40:19don't really see that ability to adjust well.
- 40:24Yeah. I mean, we pointed out a lot, too, where,
- 40:27like, the biggest if with fighters is if they
- 40:30adjust. Not even, like, if they gain some kind
- 40:35of magical property. It's just if they have that
- 40:39presence of mind or their coach does. Moving
- 40:50up the bill, I think it's Shechal. Esquivel stops
- 40:55Rayshon Taylor in the sixth. This was the prelim
- 40:59fight that I enjoyed the most. Taylor opened
- 41:02it up pretty cagey. They call him, he goes by
- 41:05X. Shechal goes by X. He was swinging for defenses
- 41:10pretty much from the beginning. Taylor's jab.
- 41:15was working nicely, but he wasn't building anything
- 41:19off of it. It just seemed like he wanted to keep
- 41:22X away from him. X continued with the combinations.
- 41:27He was doing this body -head combo with his left
- 41:33hook. It was pretty much at will. It was pretty
- 41:37nice. It ended up being... that X was landing
- 41:48a lot of shots. He was dealing out a lot of punishment
- 41:52all the way through the fifth. And I was starting
- 41:56to wonder, you're landing all the fucking punches
- 41:59here, dude. Where's the power? Where's the knockout
- 42:04power? And just as I was starting to think that,
- 42:08the ref pulls the plug in the sixth. Not quite
- 42:16the knockout as it would appear on paper. Trini
- 42:25Ochoa, stoppage in two over Christian Perez.
- 42:31It was fucking quick. It was just a feeling out
- 42:34round in the first, and then Trini got it done
- 42:36really quickly in the second. And there you go.
- 42:41That's the... That's the undercard. That's a
- 42:46pretty nice undercard. Yeah. All stoppages. Elias
- 42:55Montoya stops Adrian Rodriguez in the second.
- 43:00Nice way to open it up. The women's fight. IBF
- 43:08lightweight champion Alif Nur Turhan beats Gabriela
- 43:12Tellez. By UD. All four cards were 96 -94. Yeah.
- 43:22This is actually a pretty good fight, I can't
- 43:24lie. Yeah, Turhan is unorthodox, I think is the
- 43:32word. Makes for a good watch, though. I'd rather...
- 43:35She tries things. Yeah, she swings big. That
- 43:43was a little bit to her detriment. I think she
- 43:46was going a little bit too wide, telegraphing
- 43:48a little too much. Arturo Cardenas, UD over Jordan
- 43:55Martinez. Local boy drops the ball. He doesn't...
- 44:01I think this was a case of where the coaching
- 44:06came into play. Cardenas, it was competitive.
- 44:12competitive -ish in the beginning. And then Cardenas
- 44:14was making adjustments. He showed that he clearly
- 44:18has more levels to his game. And Martinez was
- 44:22pretty one -track. Unfortunate. I mean, he's
- 44:28a good local fighter. He is. And entertaining
- 44:32for being so local. Pro box three years. Don't
- 44:38forget. I guess they hit three years. Pro box
- 44:41three years. Pro box three years. Pro box three
- 44:43years and forget. Yeah. RGBA. He's 23. He could
- 44:49go to pro box. RGBA. No, that's Zufa. That's
- 44:57the Zufa pipeline. You know, honestly, like,
- 45:00I agree with you, Leo. I agree with you 100 %
- 45:03that, you know, the corner work is what made
- 45:08a difference. But at the same time, it's like,
- 45:11I know this might sound weird to say, but I felt
- 45:15like this fight was more of a showcase of Jordan
- 45:19rather than Cardenas, you know? Because the more
- 45:26that Cardenas fights, the worse I feel like he
- 45:31is, you know? I feel like with Martinez, though,
- 45:34you're going to, like... Look at his record,
- 45:37look at the guys he's fighting, and look at the
- 45:39step -up here. And he's missing a lot of those
- 45:43competitive mid -level regional fights with guys
- 45:47who are good and not just there to be knocked
- 45:49over. Again, he would be a very welcome presence
- 45:54on Pro Box. Because it's where you make those
- 46:00adjustments in camp even if you don't make them
- 46:02in the fight. natural basis of training for guys
- 46:06that are more competitive. You're not making
- 46:12huge leaps. Developing plan ABC. Yeah, like you
- 46:17actually naturally develop and instead of just
- 46:19going, oh, there we are. Here's a fight with
- 46:25a guy who is my level. You know, maybe, you know,
- 46:31God forbid he's actually not that level. And
- 46:35then, well, it still doesn't matter. You make
- 46:38a nice living on Provox instead of being fed
- 46:41to guys. I think he'll spend, he would spend
- 46:48a year on Provox getting the competitive matchups
- 46:52before they either cut him or he ends up becoming
- 46:57food. Yeah, he just needs a bit more polish that
- 47:00I think Robux gives these prospects that aren't
- 47:04generational, but... They're entertaining enough
- 47:08to be in a car. They're very solid. There's a
- 47:15clear path here that isn't just, alright, forget
- 47:18about him until he loses to the next undefeated
- 47:20guy. You're right, right. Alright, what's next?
- 47:29Main event. Bam Rodriguez knocks out WBA Bantamweight
- 47:35champ Antonio Vargas. In the sixth. Hey, Vargas
- 47:44made it. Go on. Vargas made it competitive for
- 47:47a little bit. Yeah. Vargas, as much as I gave
- 47:56Vargas, he was game. And he landed a lot more
- 48:00on Bam than others have. Now, is that to say
- 48:04that he landed a lot on Bam? I think he landed
- 48:07mainly on the gloves from what I saw. Leo, you
- 48:10were actually in the arena. How did you feel
- 48:11about it? I'm curious, since you were actually
- 48:14there. As I was watching it, I thought Antonio
- 48:17Vargas was... He presented something that I think
- 48:21Bam might not have been expecting. And it was
- 48:24tenacity. Three pounds might not seem like a
- 48:29lot, but when you're down at those weight classes,
- 48:31three pounds is a considerable percentage of
- 48:34weight. It's a higher... Exactly what I was going
- 48:36to say. Yeah. Honestly, I appreciate that. You
- 48:42know, I feel like, especially with pound -for
- 48:45-pound guys, there's a sense of... You'll see
- 48:47with some, if not most, challengers, a sense
- 48:50of, like... You know, I'm not going to say they
- 48:53get, like, aura -mogged or whatever, but, like,
- 48:55you know... The sort of presence of a champion
- 48:59can overwhelm a guy sometimes. And I don't think
- 49:05it hit Vargas like that, which is good. I think
- 49:09Vargas, since he had been knocked down multiple
- 49:12times in the past, his recovery was pretty decent.
- 49:15I honestly thought he was going to be out the
- 49:16first time. Yeah. And that was a pretty nasty
- 49:19knockdown. But he got up and, you know, kept
- 49:24fighting. He had heart. I gotta give it to him.
- 49:28He had a lot of heart. That was something Bam
- 49:30said when we talked to him at the post -fight.
- 49:35He said that he was not expecting him to get
- 49:38up, but he felt more power than he was expecting.
- 49:47And I think that was like the weight jump is
- 49:50what made him... gave Vargas a little bit more
- 49:56pop than Bam was expecting. And he thought, once
- 49:59he got up, Bam said he was impressed. Number
- 50:04one, he got up. Number two, he got right back
- 50:07into the fight without losing a beat, really.
- 50:12He was an Olympic guy. I gotta say that. I get,
- 50:22you know, the amateurs. Yeah, the amateurs are
- 50:24not something that, you know, totally dictates
- 50:28how you're going to be as a fighter. But, I mean,
- 50:32it helps. It does help. And considering how we
- 50:36saw in this fight that the guy did fight, like,
- 50:41an Olympian champ. Yeah, but he didn't. Silver,
- 50:47I think. It's really good that he didn't. He
- 50:49still had an Olympic champ. I'm pretty sure.
- 50:52He fought like it. Short shots and landed a good
- 50:58amount and made it hard to score some of the
- 51:02rounds too. But still, Bam is the GOAT. That's
- 51:08all I'm going to say. Bam is the GOAT. How do
- 51:11you feel about the anyway talks now? Nah, you
- 51:16know what? He's got to fight the Pinoy Devil.
- 51:21He's got to fight the Pinoy Devil. Sorry, buddy.
- 51:26Anyway, he's got to wait his turn. I would love
- 51:31to see that fight, but I don't know if that's
- 51:33even happening. That Canelo Usyk level talks
- 51:36right now. What they were talking about, Eddie,
- 51:42Bam just said, like, you put whoever in front
- 51:46of me and I'll fight them. So he wasn't giving
- 51:48a committal answer at any point throughout the
- 51:51night. But he was just deferring to Eddie and
- 51:55Robert. And both of them were saying that it's
- 52:00a matter of negotiation at this point. If they
- 52:06do want to go the Inouye route, that they don't
- 52:12want to risk fighting Takuma first. And then
- 52:18the possibility of Naoya moving up. Because then
- 52:22the fight's gone. Yeah. Fair enough. So if they're
- 52:27going to go for it, they want to go directly
- 52:29to it. As cool as the storyline would be, you
- 52:35fight the brother first and then get to the monster
- 52:39after. I think that Honestly, Bam might have
- 52:47a good shot. I mean, considering Inouye's last
- 52:52fight, I think the only way to beat Bam is to
- 52:58out -volume him. Outwork him. Because, again,
- 53:04we have seen Bam fight semi -technical fighters,
- 53:10and we've seen him fight guys that are more active.
- 53:16Mongs, yeah. And his biggest problems are with
- 53:19the Mongs because they're very high level in
- 53:22activity. You know. At least that's how I see
- 53:28it. I think that's a hold that I realize in Bam's
- 53:31games that he sometimes falters a little bit
- 53:33to a Mong. Yeah, Vargas had a success early on.
- 53:45with volume something that i had pointed out
- 53:47in the chat was that bam was really trying to
- 53:51work his angles and in the beginning it wasn't
- 53:53working he wasn't able to create openings with
- 53:57the angles the way he's he usually does because
- 54:02he kept that the other guy just kept turning
- 54:03yeah he just turned with him it's like duh yeah
- 54:08no shit have you tried turning with the guy that's
- 54:11pivoting on you I was like, huh, that's actually
- 54:14smart. Imagine that shit. Seriously, that was
- 54:19a good fight. That was a fun fight. What a car
- 54:25to watch. Yeah, very enjoyable. My sincerest
- 54:31gratitude to Matchroom for having me. Hopefully
- 54:38this coverage has been to your liking. Did you
- 54:43meet anybody famous there? Boxing famous. Yeah,
- 54:50boxing famous. No. Damn. A lot of the undercard
- 55:01was local guys. So they weren't that big of names,
- 55:08really. I mean, Eddie was there, but I've seen,
- 55:15spoken to him a few times. Bam, same thing. Robert,
- 55:20same thing. Michael Carbajal was there. That
- 55:27was it. As far as like celebs go. That's crazy.
- 55:30Michael Carbajal being there is so cool. Sorry,
- 55:39I am a boxing boomer. I did get raised on Michael
- 55:42Carbajal tape by my father. Yeah, Carbajal was
- 55:49apparently really eager to see Bam in person.
- 55:53Yeah. I can see it. I love his nickname. His
- 55:58nickname is so good, too. Carbajals? Yeah, Carbajals
- 56:04has such a fun nickname. It's very tongue -in
- 56:07-cheek. gotta look it up now he's a he's a light
- 56:12flyweight so his nickname was manitas de piedra
- 56:15haha manitas yeah good he's a light flyweight
- 56:19so that's why like it's always so it is i love
- 56:21it i love michael carvajal but that's it um that's
- 56:29all we got for the recaps let me get some more

- 57:38for Naoya? What do you think? He's got to fight
- 57:41that Pinoy devil. Yeah. Or does he face the Pinoy
- 57:44devil next? 833 Lux Pods. I'm going to keep it

- 1:00:17Previews. Just some stuff I'm going to get out
- 1:00:20of the way quickly because there's a... major
- 1:00:24card that we want to talk about. No Limit on
- 1:00:28Wednesday, June 24th at the Pat Rafter Arena
- 1:00:33in Queensland, Australia. The co -main event,
- 1:00:38Liam Wilson vs. Alexandru Marine and Lewis Crocker
- 1:00:43vs. Liam Parro. IBF welterweight title on the
- 1:00:48line. Liam Parrow, please clear out the IBF rankings
- 1:00:53once and for all. Please. You don't want to see
- 1:00:57Patty Donovan again? We're going to see him again.
- 1:01:01Parrow's probably going to fight him after this
- 1:01:04fight. It's going to be great. I'm so excited.
- 1:01:09I'm sick of this. Clear out the fucking rankings.
- 1:01:14Saturday, June 27th. First thing... We have Rockin'
- 1:01:19Fights 54. Brought to you by Starboxing. This
- 1:01:23is in Huntington, New York. Only two selects
- 1:01:26that I got on this one. Mickey Scala. He's a
- 1:01:29local guy for me. He's fighting Isaiah Flaherty.
- 1:01:34And then main event, Wendy Toussaint versus Miguel
- 1:01:38Hernandez. Skipping ahead to get it out of the
- 1:01:44way. Sunday, June 28th. Zufa Boxing 8 at the
- 1:01:49Chelsea Ballroom at the Cosmopolitan in Vegas.
- 1:01:54The main portion, the top three fights, Omar
- 1:01:58Trinidad vs. Jerwin Oncajas. Not bad. Kane Sandoval
- 1:02:02vs. Brandon Lee. I'm happy to see Brandon Lee
- 1:02:05back in action. And Rayo Valenzuela vs. Edwin
- 1:02:10De Los Santos 2. God, Brandon Lee is 30 -0. Jesus
- 1:02:15Christ. Yeah. He's got one of those padded records.
- 1:02:20Hella padded. He's still padding it. That's what
- 1:02:29it is. But here is why we're here. Matchroom
- 1:02:36and Top Rank collab on DAZN from Brooklyn. From
- 1:02:43the bottom up. Let's see. I think this is the
- 1:02:47proper running order. Not 100 % sure. But we
- 1:02:51have Juanita Lopez versus Alberto Motos. Six
- 1:02:57rounds at Superfly. Dennis Thompson versus Edwin
- 1:03:01Rodriguez. Eight rounds at Superbantam. Quincy
- 1:03:06Williams versus Jerome Baxter. Eight rounds at
- 1:03:09Welter. Ben Whitaker versus Richard Rivera. 10
- 1:03:14rounds at light heavy. Hold on. Is this fucking
- 1:03:18Popeye Rivera? I'm pretty sure. Maybe. It is
- 1:03:22Popeye Rivera. It is Popeye Rivera. That's his
- 1:03:27nickname. Yes, Popeye. Jahai Tucker versus Yuri
- 1:03:35Sedano. 10 rounds at middleweight. Emiliano Vargas
- 1:03:39versus Bryce Mills. 10 rounds at super light.
- 1:03:43And Xander Zayas, the WBA -WBO Unified Super
- 1:03:49Welterweight Champion vs. Jaron Boots Ennis.
- 1:03:56Woof. Who's gonna go first? You can go first.
- 1:04:04Well, I gotta... Ooh, okay. How do I start this?
- 1:04:16Honestly, I'm going to give my praises to Xander
- 1:04:19again. You do not have to take this fight at
- 1:04:21all. So all my respect, all my love goes out
- 1:04:28to you, Xander. But I am basically also praying
- 1:04:35for you on your funeral. Because this is a...
- 1:04:40You don't need to pray for that. Not praying
- 1:04:42for it, but I'm like, I'm mourning you early
- 1:04:45is what I'm saying. Because it's Boots. I don't
- 1:04:49see any way that... I don't see many ways that
- 1:04:52Xander beats Boots. Only thing that comes to
- 1:04:57mind really is... I mean, the only fight I've
- 1:05:02seen Boots really struggle is the Karen fight.
- 1:05:06You know? That's struggle in heavy air quotations.
- 1:05:10Struggled as in he lost two rounds out of 24,
- 1:05:13by the way. Exactly. That's what I'm saying.
- 1:05:16That's the only fight I really saw him struggle.
- 1:05:19Now, there's some ways that Xander can, you know,
- 1:05:26outwork Boots. He can do short shots and have
- 1:05:33Boots respect him. Bring the fight to Boots.
- 1:05:37Not be fearful of him. Which, I mean, side note,
- 1:05:41considering how young Xander is, I feel like
- 1:05:45the lights might just also be too bright for
- 1:05:47him as well. I mean, this is his first pay -per
- 1:05:50-view fight. This is definitely his biggest fight
- 1:05:53of his career. I also expect Xander to be fighting
- 1:05:58off more than he can shoot in this fight. Again,
- 1:06:00I can't think of many ways, but you gotta bring
- 1:06:04the fight to boots. That's all I'm gonna say.
- 1:06:07Make it hard. Make it a hard fight. Make it rough.
- 1:06:12Go on, my son. Go on, my son. Go on, my son.
- 1:06:15That's all I got to say is go on, my son. Good
- 1:06:18luck. It's difficult. Like you said, it's hard
- 1:06:27to think of ways that Xander can really do this.
- 1:06:32Yeah, like, unless he turns out to be an all
- 1:06:35-time great, like, that we just haven't seen
- 1:06:37yet. He shows us skills heretofore not seen.
- 1:06:45Because nothing about his, like, in his resume
- 1:06:48really gives me the confidence that he shows.
- 1:06:52We also watched him. We also actually watched
- 1:06:54him fight. Exactly. Like, Amas Baru, too. So,
- 1:06:57like... What is... Like, why wasn't it there
- 1:07:04with, like, Abbas Baru, you know? That should
- 1:07:08have been a pretty easy scalp. Yeah. So. Oh,
- 1:07:15well. Can I make a prediction? For taking it,
- 1:07:18like Solo said, you didn't have to take the slide.
- 1:07:20Oh, huge credit for taking it. He did not. He
- 1:07:22could have held that belt hostage. Both belts.
- 1:07:29I'm going to make an official prediction. And
- 1:07:31this is going to be kind of interesting. I think
- 1:07:36it's going to go the way of Charlo versus Lubin.
- 1:07:42Really? That's bold. I think so. That's a bold
- 1:07:46prediction. I was thinking Boots is going to
- 1:07:48beat the shit out of him and stop him late. Or
- 1:07:51mid to late. Mid to late. If I had to pick a
- 1:07:57round, it's seven. I either see Boots. knocking
- 1:08:01him out super early, or this is going to decision.
- 1:08:05Because I don't see any other way that this fight
- 1:08:10goes. I mean, again, what the hell do I know?
- 1:08:14I'm a casual. You know? That's kind of a joke,
- 1:08:19but I mean, again, I don't know shit about boxing.
- 1:08:25Nobody does. Nobody does. Everybody's a casual.
- 1:08:30Boots and seven. I'm saying, like, boots under
- 1:08:33four. I was thinking it goes to decision, but
- 1:08:37it'll be, like, really wide. I don't think Zayas
- 1:08:40is that durable. Like, with the firepower Boots
- 1:08:43has, and, like, unless Zayas shows up with, like,
- 1:08:47astounding levels of negativity. He's gotta make
- 1:08:53it. You guys gotta make an ugly fight. That's
- 1:08:55what I'm saying. And Zayas has to be super negative
- 1:08:57in a way that, like, in his soul, he cannot operate
- 1:09:01with. So negative he's going to hell. Yeah, like,
- 1:09:05he's got to sell his soul to beat boots. Deadass.
- 1:09:10I'm glad we're in agreement. I thought this was
- 1:09:12going to be an argument. Well, the thing is that
- 1:09:16I'm trying to make the case a little bit for
- 1:09:18Zayas, and I... It's not like the case with Josh,
- 1:09:22Kelly, and Vakram or Zayas where... Baccarin
- 1:09:25is a boogeyman. But it's... Boots either takes
- 1:09:29you dead serious or he will still beat the shit
- 1:09:34out of you with a full smile on his face. That
- 1:09:37guy's... Immediately after his last fight, he
- 1:09:39was already in the gym. He's a psychopath. But
- 1:09:42I will say, I think the example of like, oh,
- 1:09:45he's a complete psychopath is the Via fight.
- 1:09:49Like, realistically, Via's arms are... Not long.
- 1:09:53He's not good at boxing. And instead of just
- 1:09:57beating the shit out of him at range, Boots gets
- 1:09:59right up in his face, does the whole slow -mo
- 1:10:03shit, just trades with him. Like, this guy is
- 1:10:07a bit of a monster. But that's where you see
- 1:10:10a guy trading with Boots, and they don't win.
- 1:10:12They don't win. Again, Villa was, at the time,
- 1:10:17by far the strongest guy at 147. Just on punching
- 1:10:22power. Not on skill, not on anything else. Just
- 1:10:25pure power. Vivio was the absolute strongest
- 1:10:28guy. And Boots gladly traded with him with a
- 1:10:33smile and won. So... I don't see... Like, he
- 1:10:39can outbox you. He can style on you. He can get
- 1:10:42in the mud with you. So what does... And Zayas
- 1:10:47has no, like... He's a very good all -rounder.
- 1:10:50But, you know, he doesn't have any aspect to
- 1:10:54his game that makes me say, wow, he can actually
- 1:10:57do it if this happens. I mean, the reason why
- 1:11:03I think Virgil would beat Boots in a fight is
- 1:11:06because he's going to bring it. That's what the
- 1:11:11difference is to me between the Virgil fight
- 1:11:13and the Zayas fight. Zayas is more of a technical
- 1:11:16fighter. But he's a technical fighter with not
- 1:11:19a lot of power. He's got decent power, but not
- 1:11:23enough to make Boots respect him, in my opinion.
- 1:11:27But again, we might get surprised. We might have
- 1:11:32a decision where it's like, oh, crap. Maybe Boots
- 1:11:37ends up not being as... The thing is that if
- 1:11:41it were Virgil, who Virgil's technically quite
- 1:11:45unproven in a sense, sure. Sure, like, there's
- 1:11:51a, like, oh, maybe it was all smoke and mirrors,
- 1:11:54but, like, Boots has been through those fights
- 1:11:56that you could claim are, you know, that would
- 1:12:04show that he's the goods. Yeah. I gotta say,
- 1:12:13dude, it's, it's, it's the fight. It's, I just
- 1:12:18don't see it going for long. Yeah, it's tough
- 1:12:23to make a case for Xander. Knowing, like, my
- 1:12:29fucking luck, now Xander's going to turn into
- 1:12:33the next, I don't know, Floyd Mayweather or something,
- 1:12:37or he's going to Manny Pacquiao it up. Yeah,
- 1:12:41like, Zayas, I'm shocked Zayas made it as far
- 1:12:44as he has to now because, again, he was on those
- 1:12:48top -ranked cards, the top -ranked protection
- 1:12:49program. like, at the end of top -ranked CSPN
- 1:12:54deal, and, like, he didn't really impress. Like,
- 1:12:56it's a bunch of decisions where you go, yeah,
- 1:13:00you probably could have done more, you know?
- 1:13:07Like, so that's, like, it's just, it's hard,
- 1:13:11it's really hard to make a case for Zayas other
- 1:13:13than Boots is completely unfocused and Zayas
- 1:13:16has a performance that we've never seen from
- 1:13:19him. But I feel like we saw the best of Zaius
- 1:13:25to overcome Abbas Baru. So I don't think it's
- 1:13:29enough. What is up with this search feature?
- 1:13:51But anyways. Did we already talk about the Sunday
- 1:13:56card, the silly one? Yes. Yes. Okay, good. Good,
- 1:14:03good. Yeah, that's it. That's all we got on the
- 1:14:08document. That's it. Yeah. Do we need to break
- 1:14:14the glass? That one was pretty healthy. That
- 1:14:16one was pretty healthy, I can't lie. Yeah, we're
- 1:14:18good on time. I got used to the four -hour ones.
- 1:14:22That's why we've been well -fed. We've been well
- 1:14:26-fed lately. Yeah, I think we'll have more to
- 1:14:29talk about, especially on the other side of it.
- 1:14:32Oh, yeah, in the aftermath? Yeah. Well, as we
- 1:14:39head into Boots Zayas weekend, parting words.
- 1:14:47Please don't die, Zayas. I'm rooting for you.
- 1:14:51Please don't fucking die. Zayas, you gotta remember,
- 1:14:56your corner is always there to throw in the towel.
- 1:15:02Don't be a hero. Don't be a hero is crazy. Don't
- 1:15:06be a hero, buddy. Don't be a hero, buddy. Well,
- 1:15:16If that's it, then that's it for this edition
- 1:15:18of the Boxing B -Sides. We'll see you on the
- 1:15:20other side of Boots. Zaius. Why should a boxing
- 1:15:40fan watch MMA? Okay, here's my pitch. The reason
- 1:15:47that a boxing fan would consider watching MMA
- 1:15:49in the year of our Lord, 2026, is that MMA is
- 1:15:53cheaper and more accessible than it's ever been
- 1:15:55in its lifetime. Our biggest organization, the
- 1:15:59UFC, has done away with pay -per -views. It's
- 1:16:01now just like a $15 a month payment to Paramount
- 1:16:04+, and you get 40 -plus fight cards a year. And
- 1:16:11it's not just the UFC. You have organizations
- 1:16:13like 1FC and Ryzen that put stuff directly on
- 1:16:17YouTube for free to watch. And you're able to
- 1:16:21see a wide variety of high -level skills. Like,
- 1:16:24this is not just, like, amateur hour shit, unless
- 1:16:27we're talking about the heavyweight division.
- 1:16:28But boxing fans can relate to the gap of skill
- 1:16:32there. These are some of the most talented athletes
- 1:16:36in the world, and they're fighting, especially
- 1:16:38if I can point out the Muay Thai stuff that happens
- 1:16:41in 1FC. It's phenomenal. Another reason that
- 1:16:45a boxing fan would want this, would want to jump
- 1:16:47in now, is that I think unlike a lot of the cards
- 1:16:51you're used to watching in boxing, MMA cards
- 1:16:55are worth watching from the start. You don't
- 1:16:58have to wait until the co -main to see something
- 1:17:01that isn't complete. nerd shit most of the times
- 1:17:04you're seeing even if it's a lower skill feeling
- 1:17:09you're still seeing fights that are exciting
- 1:17:12and compelling to watch we just came off the
- 1:17:15backs of UFC 327 and that card top to bottom
- 1:17:19was like absolutely stacked so great example
- 1:17:22you can watch the whole thing for you know in
- 1:17:27bits and pieces or from start to finish on Paramount
- 1:17:29Plus right now if you subscribe so Paramount,
- 1:17:32give us some money. We're doing marketing for
- 1:17:35you. So that would be my pitch. Perfect. If you
- 1:17:38do decide to give MMA a shot, then why don't
- 1:17:40you check out Ultimate F 'n Casuals? It's kind
- 1:17:43of the same format. We talked the fights that
- 1:17:45happened the past weekend and then the stuff
- 1:17:47coming up this weekend. Give it a shot. It's
- 1:17:50Ultimate F 'n Casuals.
