- 0:00Speaker 1: Iran is very high on my list of things to watch.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Sent them a letter just recently and I said, you're
- 0:07Speaker 1: gonna have to make a decision one way or the other,
- 0:09Speaker 1: and we're gonna either have to talk and talk it
- 0:11Speaker 1: out or very bad things are going to happen to Iran,
- 0:14Speaker 1: and I don't want that to happen. My big preferences
- 0:16Speaker 1: we work it out with a rent. But if we
- 0:18Speaker 1: don't work it out, bad bad things are going to
- 0:20Speaker 1: happen to a Ran.
- 0:21Speaker 2: If you're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with
- 0:24Speaker 2: Ben Ferguson.
- 0:25Speaker 3: Good Saturday morning to you. Ben Ferguson with you, and
- 0:28Speaker 3: these are some of the stories that you may have
- 0:30Speaker 3: missed that we talked about this week on the forty
- 0:32Speaker 3: seven Morning Update. First up, the Department of Homeland Security
- 0:36Speaker 3: Secretary Christy no coming out saying we are preparing to
- 0:40Speaker 3: eliminate FEMA. Could it be because of all the waste,
- 0:43Speaker 3: fraud and abuse. Also, you may have noticed that the
- 0:46Speaker 3: media is all using the same words as Democratic lawmakers
- 0:51Speaker 3: to attack Elon Musk over the last week. We have
- 0:53Speaker 3: a montage on that to show you just how corrupt
- 0:56Speaker 3: the Democratic leadership is and working with the media, and finally,
- 1:01Speaker 3: Donald Trump says I'm not messing around yet again, announcing
- 1:05Speaker 3: twenty five percent tariff on cars not made in the US.
- 1:09Speaker 3: This is the beginning, he says, of Liberation Day in America.
- 1:13Speaker 3: It's the forty seven morning update, and it starts right now.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Story number one.
- 1:17Speaker 3: We all know that a core mission of the Trump
- 1:19Speaker 3: administration is to truly get rid of waste, fraud, and abuse.
- 1:23Speaker 3: But just how bad is that fraud and abuse, especially
- 1:27Speaker 3: when it comes to agencies like FEMA. Well, apparently it
- 1:30Speaker 3: may be so bad now that the Department of Homeland
- 1:32Speaker 3: Security Secretary Christy Nome under Donald Trump is saying, quote,
- 1:36Speaker 3: we are preparing to eliminate FEMA altogether. We also know
- 1:41Speaker 3: that FEMA has picked winners and losers, helping some Americans
- 1:44Speaker 3: when they need the emergency help and well forgetting others
- 1:48Speaker 3: depending on where you live in the country. With the
- 1:50Speaker 3: Homeland Security Secretary Christi nom has told the Trump administration
- 1:54Speaker 3: that preparations are underway quote unquote to eliminate the Federal
- 1:59Speaker 3: Emergency Management Agency. It was a quick comment, by the way,
- 2:02Speaker 3: on Monday, with no related lead in that, according to
- 2:06Speaker 3: The Hill, that got this scoop President Donald Trump responded
- 2:09Speaker 3: with quote that's great, great job, in what seemed to
- 2:13Speaker 3: be a reaction to her preceding comments on border security.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Now.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Trump said previously that he does not have a favorable
- 2:20Speaker 3: view of FEMA and has considered its elimination. Sener Peter Welch,
- 2:25Speaker 3: a Democrat from Vermont, posted on x his response to
- 2:29Speaker 3: Gnoam's statement on eliminating FEMA by saying this, Vermont has
- 2:34Speaker 3: been hit hard by flooding the last two years, and
- 2:37Speaker 3: I'm the first person to say that we need to
- 2:38Speaker 3: make improvements to FEMA, but eliminating it altogether would make
- 2:42Speaker 3: disasters more deadly and destructive and make it much harder
- 2:46Speaker 3: for communities to recover. Trump, by the way, signed an
- 2:49Speaker 3: executive order last week sitting the stage for a major
- 2:52Speaker 3: overhaul of federal disaster relief programs. And let's be clear,
- 2:56Speaker 3: the President is not trying to eliminate disaster relief help
- 3:00Speaker 3: from the federal government. He is, however, clearly trying to
- 3:03Speaker 3: get rid of some of the waste and abuse of
- 3:06Speaker 3: programs under FEMA's directive. It read, in part, this executive
- 3:10Speaker 3: order delivers on President Trump's commitment to shift power from
- 3:14Speaker 3: Washington to the American people. The order laid the foundation
- 3:18Speaker 3: for quote greater state and local control of emergencies and funding.
- 3:25Speaker 3: The order enables states and local governments to better understand,
- 3:29Speaker 3: plan for, and address the needs of their citizens by
- 3:33Speaker 3: reducing the complexity of federal preparedness and response policies. In
- 3:38Speaker 3: other words, Donald Trump is saying states know what they
- 3:41Speaker 3: need and local communities know what they need in a
- 3:43Speaker 3: disaster more than bureaucrats in Washington, d C. Now, there
- 3:48Speaker 3: is no official closing or in dat announced for FEMA
- 3:51Speaker 3: or any other federal office or department that responds to disasters. Clearly,
- 3:56Speaker 3: the President wants to make sure that this is done
- 3:58Speaker 3: in a very responsible away, and most importantly, that emergency
- 4:03Speaker 3: management response from the government is much better than it
- 4:06Speaker 3: is right now. You don't have to look very far
- 4:09Speaker 3: back in history to see also that FEMA may have
- 4:12Speaker 3: been involved in significant political actions, picking winners and losers
- 4:16Speaker 3: in the United States, depending on if you're in a
- 4:19Speaker 3: liberal state or a liberal city, or a conservative state
- 4:22Speaker 3: or a conservative city. Presence made it clear that politics
- 4:26Speaker 3: shouldn't matter when you're dealing with emergencies, especially when you're
- 4:29Speaker 3: someone that may have lost everything your home, your cars,
- 4:33Speaker 3: and even had a job that disappeared because of a disaster.
- 4:37Speaker 3: And this is exactly why the President has the backing
- 4:39Speaker 3: of the American people on this issue.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Next story number two, I want to take.
- 4:44Speaker 3: A moment and talk to you about Elon Musk. The
- 4:48Speaker 3: corporate media, spontaneously over the past couple weeks, has come
- 4:54Speaker 3: up with the same exact talking points to undermine and
- 4:58Speaker 3: attack Elon must over and over again. The media seems
- 5:02Speaker 3: to be saying the same exact thing in a very
- 5:05Speaker 3: clear coordinated attempt to undermine and to hope that Elon
- 5:10Speaker 3: Musk will somehow get fired from his job with DOGE
- 5:14Speaker 3: or quit. The media has tried to put a wedge
- 5:17Speaker 3: between Elon Musk and the President on countless occasions now,
- 5:21Speaker 3: trying to get them into some sort of spat. They've
- 5:25Speaker 3: also tried to say that Elon Musk is actually bigger
- 5:28Speaker 3: than Donald Trump, trying to play into the ego game
- 5:32Speaker 3: so that Donald Trump will kick him out of the
- 5:34Speaker 3: Oval office or maybe take him out of his administration. Altogether.
- 5:39Speaker 3: None of it has worked. In fact, I actually think
- 5:42Speaker 3: that Elon Musk and Donald Trump are laughing at the
- 5:44Speaker 3: fact that this is what they're trying to do so.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Now we've seen orchestrated attacks, clearly orchestrated attacks against Tesla,
- 5:53Speaker 3: Tesla owners, car dealerships, the threat that if you buy
- 5:57Speaker 3: a Tesla, your car is going to be burned or
- 5:59Speaker 3: certainly damaged, that people are going to surround your car
- 6:03Speaker 3: and hit you or attack you because you own a Tesla.
- 6:06Speaker 3: We witness that over the weekend in New York City.
- 6:09Speaker 3: We've seen dealerships that have been firebombed. We've seen dealerships
- 6:13Speaker 3: that have literally been shot up. I thought Democrats were
- 6:15Speaker 3: against guns, but apparently not now if it means shooting
- 6:19Speaker 3: at a Tesla. So just how coordinated is the media
- 6:22Speaker 3: and trying to destroy Elon Musk because of what he's
- 6:25Speaker 3: doing to destroy our government, to get rid of the waste, fraud, abuse,
- 6:29Speaker 3: the corruption of the Democratic Party, to undo all of that. Well,
- 6:34Speaker 3: it looks like now they're going into full court press
- 6:37Speaker 3: where they're colluding with one another doing everything they can
- 6:40Speaker 3: to get rid of Elon Musk. If you don't believe me,
- 6:43Speaker 3: we put together a montage. Take a listen.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Elon Musk's so called Department of Government Efficiency is taking
- 6:52Speaker 2: a chainsaw to the federal workforce. Elon Musk continues his
- 6:55Speaker 2: chainsaw attack in Washington. So taking a chainsaw, if you will,
- 6:58Speaker 2: to the federal government, that's you know, decapitating a lot,
- 7:01Speaker 2: a lot they slashed and hacked with the chainsaw.
- 7:05Speaker 1: The slashing and the burning the chainsaw.
- 7:07Speaker 3: Elon Musk with that chainsaw, I mean he's walking around
- 7:12Speaker 3: acting like he's ahead of Doughe he's, you know, brandishing
- 7:15Speaker 3: the chainsaw. Nine months pregnant with Elon Musk chainsaw, marauding
- 7:18Speaker 3: with a chainsaw. Wait a second, buster, put your chainsaw away.
- 7:22Speaker 2: They cannot attack federal agencies with a chainsaw.
- 7:26Speaker 3: He's doing it in a way with a chainsaw that
- 7:28Speaker 3: alienates people.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Right man, right hand chainsaw man.
- 7:31Speaker 3: But it has a chainsaw.
- 7:33Speaker 1: That's chainsaw stuff. Who used the chainsaw? Elon Musk is
- 7:36Speaker 1: an unelected man child running around the country with a
- 7:40Speaker 1: pretend chainsaw.
- 7:41Speaker 3: That is your media, that is your Democratic Party. That
- 7:44Speaker 3: is them colluding together in a quote spontaneous moment that
- 7:50Speaker 3: happened time and time and time and time again, all
- 7:54Speaker 3: because they don't know how to stop Doge or Elon
- 7:58Speaker 3: Musk or Donald Trump. Let me just say, the majority
- 8:01Speaker 3: of the American people are behind Elon Musk in his chainsaw.
- 8:05Speaker 3: No matter what the corporate media tries.
- 8:08Speaker 2: To tell you, and here is story number three.
- 8:10Speaker 3: President Donald Trump has made good on a promise as
- 8:13Speaker 3: he announced a twenty five percent tariff on all automobiles
- 8:16Speaker 3: not manufactured in the United States, a move aim to
- 8:20Speaker 3: revitalize domestic car production and protect American jobs. He is
- 8:24Speaker 3: framing the decision as a key step towards economic independence
- 8:28Speaker 3: and national strength. Trump emphasizing the importance of bringing automotive
- 8:32Speaker 3: manufacturing back to American soil. Supporters of the tariff are
- 8:36Speaker 3: making it clear this could lead to major resurgences in
- 8:40Speaker 3: US auto jobs, spur investment in American factories, and level
- 8:44Speaker 3: the playing field with foreign competitors who have long benefited
- 8:48Speaker 3: from low production costs and trade advantages. Industry insiders are
- 8:53Speaker 3: already reporting interests from automakers and expanding US based operations
- 8:58Speaker 3: to avoid the new quote. This is about putting America first,
- 9:02Speaker 3: Trump set here's more of the present in his own words.
- 9:07Speaker 1: So this is the beginning of liberation Day in America.
- 9:13Speaker 1: We're going to take back just some of the money
- 9:16Speaker 1: that has been taken from us by people sitting behind
- 9:20Speaker 1: this desk. Or another desk that's not quite as nice,
- 9:23Speaker 1: but they have their choice of seven, as you know,
- 9:27Speaker 1: And we're going to charge countries for doing business in
- 9:33Speaker 1: our country and taking our jobs, taking our wealth, taking
- 9:37Speaker 1: a lot of things that they've been taken over the years.
- 9:39Speaker 1: They've taken so much out of our country. Friend and foe,
- 9:43Speaker 1: and frankly, Friend has been oftentimes much worse than FAE.
- 9:46Speaker 1: And this is very modest. What we're going to be
- 9:49Speaker 1: doing is a twenty five percent tariff on all cars
- 9:52Speaker 1: that are not made in the United States. If they're
- 9:54Speaker 1: made in the United States, is absolutely not terror. We
- 9:57Speaker 1: start off with a two and adred percent base, which
- 9:59Speaker 1: is what we were at, and we go to twenty
- 10:02Speaker 1: five percent. And basically, as you know, and as you've
- 10:05Speaker 1: been saying, not reporting as accurately as it should be reported,
- 10:08Speaker 1: because it's a massive story, business is coming back to
- 10:12Speaker 1: the United States so that they don't have to pay tariffs.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Now.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Economists are very excited about the president's new policy, suggesting
- 10:20Speaker 3: by the way that tariffs could reduce the trade deficit
- 10:22Speaker 3: in bolster related sectors such as steel, glass, and electronics
- 10:27Speaker 3: for many in manufacturing hubs. They also say, like Michigan
- 10:31Speaker 3: and Ohio. The move represents hope for the return to
- 10:34Speaker 3: prosperity and industrial pride. Now, the clear point the President
- 10:38Speaker 3: is sending is that we are open for business and
- 10:40Speaker 3: he is putting American workers ahead of foreign cheap labor,
- 10:45Speaker 3: and that's good for all Americans in this country.
