- 0:00Merry Christmas. Hey, y 'all. So this week is
- 0:04real Christmas, not fake Christmas. And we are
- 0:08going to take a week off of podcasting. But this
- 0:12holiday season, we know a lot of people are struggling.
- 0:16And there are some themes for Dungeon Crawler
- 0:20Carl, which are really important to us, such
- 0:23as the idea of they will not break us. We are
- 0:28all stronger together and the only way that everyone
- 0:32gets out alive is together. And so with that
- 0:36in mind, we would just ask that if anyone has
- 0:40the spoons and resources that you do some mutual
- 0:44aid in the spirit of Dungeon Caller Carl this
- 0:46season. Beautifully said. I couldn't have said
- 0:49it any better myself. And there's a lot of different
- 0:51ways to help out in your communities. You know,
- 0:54here in Atlanta, we have some like local kind
- 0:57of food pantries where you can just go and drop
- 0:59off food or clothes like day or night. And it
- 1:03can even just be things that you have left over.
- 1:05You don't have to go out and like buy something
- 1:07specific. Yeah, definitely. And it can be simple.
- 1:09So I've personally been making pimento cheese
- 1:11and ham sandwiches and dropping them off lately
- 1:13and they're a hit. Yeah, absolutely. It is also
- 1:16really important. No, like if you are dropping
- 1:19off food or clothing specifically for unhoused
- 1:21people, that it needs to be things that they
- 1:23can easily eat. So like canned food, you know,
- 1:27they may not have a can opener to open that.
- 1:29Things that need to actually be cooked. Again,
- 1:31that could be difficult. If you're donating to
- 1:34like an actual food bank where maybe they're
- 1:36just helping like poor families, that's going
- 1:38to be different than something specifically for
- 1:41unhoused people. Absolutely. There are so many
- 1:43ways to help. Some places it is better for them
- 1:47if you just give money. Some places what they
- 1:50really need is time and they need people to go
- 1:54volunteer if you're short on funds. And, you
- 1:57know, the food pantry works for us where we can
- 2:00just cook things on our own time and drop it
- 2:02off for them. So there really is something for
- 2:05everyone. One of the things I would say is if
- 2:08you're donating to any kind of. food pantry or
- 2:10canned food drive, they desperately need canned
- 2:14spaghetti sauce. I know I've talked to the coordinator
- 2:17in my area and they've specifically called that
- 2:19out as a need. The food drive around us gets
- 2:21a lot of pasta, but they don't necessarily get
- 2:24things to go with that pasta. Yeah, absolutely.
- 2:26And if you're dropping off clothes, obviously
- 2:29like all clothes are helpful, but there was something
- 2:33at our local like food and clothing pantry. recently
- 2:36or i think it was last year before christmas
- 2:38and someone dropped off last year on christmas
- 2:40eve yeah last year on christmas eve and someone
- 2:42dropped off like prom dresses and i just don't
- 2:46think that's what those people needed when it
- 2:48was cold especially not in december maybe in
- 2:51may but the unhoused people do not need your
- 2:53prom dresses which just kind of goes to the more
- 2:55general thing of make sure that you are targeting
- 2:58what you're donating to the group that you are
- 3:02donating to And there's lots of guides online
- 3:06and you can always reach out to the people who
- 3:08are doing the coordinating as far as what would
- 3:10be the best for them. And obviously we are dropping
- 3:13this a couple of days before Christmas. So not
- 3:15everyone is going to be able to immediately rush
- 3:18out and help people. But there is a term in mutual
- 3:21aid called January drop off. And basically what
- 3:24that is saying is that everyone wants to donate
- 3:28and help in December. But there's still a lot
- 3:30of hungry folks in January. So thanks for letting
- 3:33us get a little bit preachy at y 'all. It is
- 3:35the season for that. But we just believe that
- 3:38helping each other is really at the core of Dungeon
- 3:41Crawler Carl. And it's part of what drew us to
- 3:44the books and make us like them so much. Yeah,
- 3:46we are stronger together. Happy holidays, everyone.
- 3:50Happy holidays and a happy new year.
