- 0:21Speaker 1: Steve har listening to movie together for STU. Please momy,
- 0:38Speaker 1: I don't joy by joining me. You gotta turn, you
- 1:24Speaker 1: gotta turn to turn, got to turn out, turn the
- 1:46Speaker 1: water the water, go me. Come come on your back.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Uh huh. I shore will a good barn and everybody
- 2:05Speaker 1: you're listening to the voice, come on dig me now.
- 2:08Speaker 1: One and only Steve Harvey got a radio show. Man,
- 2:13Speaker 1: If if I had time enough to tell the whole trip,
- 2:17Speaker 1: the whole journey, and y'all would be sitting up in
- 2:20Speaker 1: there going okay to Steve, are we gonna play the
- 2:22Speaker 1: show this week? But man, it's been a lot of
- 2:26Speaker 1: amazing things has happened to me over the years, and
- 2:33Speaker 1: not all of them good. It's been some amazingly bad
- 2:37Speaker 1: things that have happened too. But I just come on
- 2:40Speaker 1: in the morning as a reminder to everybody of the
- 2:45Speaker 1: actual goodness of God that you know, man, that these
- 2:48Speaker 1: mistakes that you're making, that these setbacks that you keep having,
- 2:54Speaker 1: that these falls that keep occurring in your life, that
- 2:58Speaker 1: they all are leading you somewhere. If you just don't
- 3:01Speaker 1: ever give up. That's the key. You can never ever
- 3:05Speaker 1: give up because you don't know how the trip has
- 3:10Speaker 1: been laid out for you. You know, if somebody had
- 3:13Speaker 1: told me years ago when I had the dream of
- 3:17Speaker 1: being on TV and then I thought about being a
- 3:20Speaker 1: one of one of the best comedians I could be,
- 3:23Speaker 1: you know, when I when I started, somebody had told
- 3:26Speaker 1: me everything that was gonna have to happen in order
- 3:31Speaker 1: for me to get there, I would have changed it.
- 3:35Speaker 1: I would have I would have said, Okay, well I
- 3:38Speaker 1: ain't gonna be that. How about this? See and no
- 3:42Speaker 1: one can know all of the events of their life
- 3:45Speaker 1: ahead of time. You know, it'd be so nice, wouldn't it.
- 3:47Speaker 1: You know, to prepare for it, see it coming, be
- 3:52Speaker 1: aware of the haters, always knowing when the backstabbing moment
- 3:57Speaker 1: is coming in your life, always on when you're gonna
- 4:00Speaker 1: get blindsided by the enemy. We are really great to
- 4:03Speaker 1: know that, wouldn't it. Well, that's not how it works.
- 4:07Speaker 1: So since no one knows exactly the challenges and the
- 4:13Speaker 1: pitfalls and the detools that's going to be set them.
- 4:18Speaker 1: It's it's it's imperative that you just don't give up
- 4:21Speaker 1: because see, knowing these things, we as human beings by nature,
- 4:29Speaker 1: would choose another route. But it ain't the route God
- 4:32Speaker 1: God for you, though, See the route God God for you.
- 4:36Speaker 1: If you if you're trying to do the right thing,
- 4:38Speaker 1: if you're doing the best you can, if you ain't
- 4:42Speaker 1: out here just intentionally just messing over, folks, if you're
- 4:46Speaker 1: using faith, and that's the belief in things that you
- 4:49Speaker 1: cannot see. If you have something on the inside of
- 4:52Speaker 1: you to keep saying there's got to be more to
- 4:54Speaker 1: life than that, then that's that's you. You, my friend,
- 4:59Speaker 1: have a great chance as hell. And if you've ever
- 5:02Speaker 1: had that feeling then gave up on it, just get
- 5:04Speaker 1: it back, just ask for it back, Just say, hey man,
- 5:08Speaker 1: I'm getting back to the way I used to be
- 5:11Speaker 1: because there's a change that's available in your life. But
- 5:14Speaker 1: you gotta take it. You gotta take a shot at it. Folks.
- 5:18Speaker 1: There's a chance for you to get it right, but
- 5:20Speaker 1: you gotta take a shot at it. Folks. There's a
- 5:23Speaker 1: chance for you to turn this whole thing around with
- 5:26Speaker 1: God's help, but you gotta take a shot at it.
- 5:29Speaker 1: You see, this decision is yours. The decision to lay
- 5:33Speaker 1: down and give up, that's yours. It ain't. It just
- 5:36Speaker 1: got too hard for me. Life too much, man, life
- 5:39Speaker 1: hard and too much for everybody. What I gotta get
- 5:43Speaker 1: you to see, my father used to always tell me,
- 5:45Speaker 1: He says, son, best lessons in life to burn your
- 5:48Speaker 1: value and learn the most is a bout lesson. I
- 5:51Speaker 1: didn't quite understand that being young, but I showed God
- 5:55Speaker 1: it Now ain't no lesson like a bout lesson. The
- 5:58Speaker 1: one you pay for. Those are the ones that hold
- 6:02Speaker 1: to you, that stick to you, that that that start
- 6:05Speaker 1: turning you into who you're gonna be. Those are the
- 6:07Speaker 1: character builders. See, you got to be forged to get
- 6:12Speaker 1: to where you want to go in life. So that's
- 6:14Speaker 1: what the challenges and missteps is for. That's what the
- 6:17Speaker 1: failing is about. Now, I know you don't like it.
- 6:19Speaker 1: I didn't. I know you're not comfortable with I wouldn't.
- 6:23Speaker 1: I know you wish it was over sooner than later.
- 6:26Speaker 1: I always do. I always want it to be over
- 6:29Speaker 1: sooner than later, because the later manager seems like it's
- 6:33Speaker 1: so much I gotta go through. But let me tell
- 6:36Speaker 1: you something, man, if you can, if you can forge
- 6:40Speaker 1: your way through it and understand that you are forged
- 6:43Speaker 1: in life, I don't know. I was on TBN one
- 6:47Speaker 1: time when I was doing one of my motivational speeches,
- 6:51Speaker 1: and I began to wonder about this experience. I had
- 6:55Speaker 1: a Ford Motor Company and my last job after the
- 6:59Speaker 1: auto industry started going down, my last job was in
- 7:02Speaker 1: the fountry and my job was to stand at the
- 7:07Speaker 1: end almost where the engines first come out of the furnace. See,
- 7:12Speaker 1: the engines are poured into a mold's hot melted down
- 7:17Speaker 1: metal whatever they call it, lava or whatever. They poured
- 7:19Speaker 1: into a mole and it goes into this furnace that's
- 7:23Speaker 1: extremely hot. And my job was after the heat was
- 7:28Speaker 1: applied to the engine block, it would come through and
- 7:33Speaker 1: it would go through a hardening stage. But the way
- 7:35Speaker 1: it was hardening, they would cool it. Suddenly they would
- 7:39Speaker 1: flush it with water. It was just blast water on it.
- 7:42Speaker 1: But the fire and the high temperature is what made
- 7:46Speaker 1: the engine block solidified. It's because it's gotta get real hot,
- 7:51Speaker 1: get melted down first. Then it's got to get poured
- 7:54Speaker 1: into a mole. Then it's gotta be pressure, hit with
- 7:58Speaker 1: water and all of that, and then it could and
- 8:01Speaker 1: it's real hot. Now it's still hot even though there's
- 8:03Speaker 1: water been shutter. But when it comes out the end
- 8:06Speaker 1: of the side, there's a lot of flashing in it,
- 8:08Speaker 1: and flashing is a metal from that din dripped through
- 8:11Speaker 1: the cast molding on it, just like flecks of extra
- 8:15Speaker 1: pieces of metal. My job was to hit this engine
- 8:20Speaker 1: block in the front, which is huge, heavy rubber mallet,
- 8:25Speaker 1: knock all the flashing off the front, and when it
- 8:28Speaker 1: came around back to bam, hit it real hard again
- 8:32Speaker 1: on the backside. And that became the core of what
- 8:37Speaker 1: the car is. A car without a great engine is nothing.
- 8:41Speaker 1: It's just a pretty looking vehicle over there. But if
- 8:44Speaker 1: it can't do what it was made to do because
- 8:46Speaker 1: the engine block then cracked. So you can have a
- 8:48Speaker 1: car look real good, but if it freezes an engine
- 8:51Speaker 1: block crack your car, you can it's over man. You
- 8:54Speaker 1: gotta get a new block. The block is the core.
- 8:57Speaker 1: But in order for you for the car to do it,
- 8:59Speaker 1: it's guy to do it's got to have a strong
- 9:01Speaker 1: engine in it. In order for the engine to be strong,
- 9:04Speaker 1: it's got to be forged and still come through fire,
- 9:07Speaker 1: get poured in a mole, cooled off, heated, knocked around,
- 9:11Speaker 1: beat on the front end, beat on the back end,
- 9:14Speaker 1: in order for it to be what it's gonna be.
- 9:16Speaker 1: The moral of the story, folks, is you got to
- 9:19Speaker 1: get forged in fire to be what you're gonna be.
- 9:23Speaker 1: You got to get beat up, you got to get
- 9:25Speaker 1: pressure washed, you got to have heat on you, you
- 9:28Speaker 1: gotta get melted down, you gotta get poured into a mole.
- 9:32Speaker 1: That's how you become who you are. So the tough
- 9:35Speaker 1: things that you're going through, the difficult challenges and the setbacks.
- 9:38Speaker 1: I know a brother who went to prison, man, And
- 9:41Speaker 1: the whole reason he ended up going to prison because
- 9:44Speaker 1: he was looking out the low window, looking out in
- 9:46Speaker 1: the yard at him working out. And then the next thing,
- 9:49Speaker 1: you know, man, this brother decided that he was gonna
- 9:51Speaker 1: go out there and work out. Well, guess what, he's
- 9:54Speaker 1: one of the top trainers in country. Today. You're listening show,
- 10:02Speaker 1: ladies and gentlemen and everybody else that's listening. This is
- 10:07Speaker 1: the Steve Harvey Morning Show. You know, without a doubt,
- 10:12Speaker 1: I mean, unequivocable I'm talking about you know, it's not
- 10:15Speaker 1: even It's not debatable. This is the baddest morning show
- 10:20Speaker 1: in the country, and we have the numbers to prove it.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Here he at how don't trip. I don't care what
- 10:32Speaker 1: they say. Look them up, look them up. Go ahead
- 10:36Speaker 1: and look them up. Bounce with it, ladies and gentlemen. Uh.
- 10:43Speaker 1: We have a different crew to this morning, but the
- 10:45Speaker 1: same crew callin for real good morning Steve. Numbers to
- 10:52Speaker 1: prove it will be the pack today, the Lona Junior,
- 10:59Speaker 1: What's up on everybody? Jey Brown, the Kevin Duran, the Radio.
- 11:05Speaker 1: I'm with a Winter Baby. Yeah, yeah, yeah, so good
- 11:14Speaker 1: Monday morning. Shirley's out, Tommy's out, We're gonna ride. Whoa, whoa, whoa,
- 11:20Speaker 1: Tommy's out. Yeah, nobody told me Tommy wasn't here, That's
- 11:27Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Well, I don't even sew what the
- 11:29Speaker 1: surprise is. It was a weekend, wasn't it. Yeah, Steve,
- 11:37Speaker 1: how many days does he get because he's your nephew,
- 11:39Speaker 1: how many days off does he get? I don't know.
- 11:42Speaker 1: I frustrate, yeah, because it's like it's like weird, because
- 11:54Speaker 1: like I'd be glad when he ain't here. Yeah, well so, man,
- 11:58Speaker 1: but glad like how so in other words, as nephew
- 12:02Speaker 1: vacation work as vacation best friends vacation. I mean, how
- 12:07Speaker 1: does this? How does this work? How does this ever get?
- 12:10Speaker 1: Best friend? Y'all know something, Timmy and I don't hang
- 12:14Speaker 1: out at all. No, but that is your nephew, Steve.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Come on, now, that's your boy, that's blood now, Yeah,
- 12:21Speaker 1: hang out well, because you know, because when he was little,
- 12:25Speaker 1: you know what, I didn't want to hang out with
- 12:27Speaker 1: him in it just sort of carry over, you know,
- 12:31Speaker 1: you know, he make his own money and everything now
- 12:33Speaker 1: and I still don't want to. You don't want to
- 12:36Speaker 1: hang with him. Yeah, you know, it's just like it's
- 12:38Speaker 1: like in my stomach, you know what I mean? You know, yeah,
- 12:45Speaker 1: you know it's kind of a feel, you know, because
- 12:47Speaker 1: when he was literally used to do so much dumb stuff.
- 12:50Speaker 1: I guess I just he's probably the only person I
- 12:53Speaker 1: ain't just ever just fully forgave. Yeah, I think I'm
- 12:58Speaker 1: saying somebody never said before. I think my nephew is
- 13:02Speaker 1: the only person I've never fully forgave because he used
- 13:05Speaker 1: to cost me so much of my valuable time. Go
- 13:08Speaker 1: about go see about time and go down there and
- 13:10Speaker 1: get time at bike back. Dumb ass bought a brand
- 13:13Speaker 1: new bike. Road it to the stove. Ain't nobody steal it?
- 13:19Speaker 1: He walked home. Guess why he walked home because he
- 13:22Speaker 1: forgot he had a bike. Oh lord, you don't get now.
- 13:27Speaker 1: We go down there and I watched the boy riding
- 13:29Speaker 1: off on the bike. Oh man, man left? All right?
- 13:35Speaker 1: Coming up at thirty two after the hour, we'll find
- 13:37Speaker 1: out what the crew did over the weekend. We may
- 13:39Speaker 1: hear more about Nephew. All of that we can review
- 13:41Speaker 1: up next. You're listening show. All right, guys, it's Monday morning.
- 13:47Speaker 1: What did you guys do over the weekend? Let's talk?
- 13:50Speaker 1: Come on, go ahead. I went, y'all ready for this?
- 13:56Speaker 1: Yes to a movie? Wow? You went to a movie?
- 14:01Speaker 1: A movie theater? Yeah, a theater with the big seats
- 14:07Speaker 1: and everything. Well, what I wanted to go see was
- 14:10Speaker 1: John Wick. Okay, that's what I had. Got the theater.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Four scoop, scoop? Excuse me, scoot, Junior. Did you hear that?
- 14:19Speaker 1: I heard that? What does that mean? You got the theater?
- 14:22Speaker 1: What does that mean? You get huff? What's that about?
- 14:29Speaker 1: My motivation? I rented a theater because you know, I ain't.
- 14:34Speaker 1: I haven't been to no movie, so I probably I
- 14:38Speaker 1: can't tell you. We're just talking about the two thousand
- 14:40Speaker 1: and four maybe something like that. Okay, so that's only
- 14:43Speaker 1: fifteen years ago. So you rented entire rented a movie
- 14:48Speaker 1: theater to go to so I could enjoy the movie.
- 14:51Speaker 1: Sit there one and you know, they got they got rested,
- 14:53Speaker 1: they got food, they got you know, you got menus,
- 14:57Speaker 1: they got lights on it. We know, we got the Queen.
- 15:00Speaker 1: See I never I never knew that here. That's my
- 15:02Speaker 1: first I had to recline in chill. Yeah, you know,
- 15:05Speaker 1: hid death for all that, and so I went. I
- 15:08Speaker 1: wanted to see John Wit. But then Mardreie got involved.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Lest let's take the grandkids. I said, well, okay, cool,
- 15:19Speaker 1: but then you know, no crime. You know when when
- 15:23Speaker 1: the killer starts, you know, crying blood, my mom my, mama,
- 15:32Speaker 1: my friend, dad. No, no, no, no. So that's what
- 15:36Speaker 1: I said. So my wife said, well, let's ask him.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Can we watch Aladdin? I said, what Aladdin? Let going in?
- 15:47Speaker 1: No damn movie watching, No Aladdin. So we go to
- 15:50Speaker 1: the movie and watch Switch from Aladdin. Man. Now, first
- 15:56Speaker 1: of all, let me say this about Will Smith. This
- 15:59Speaker 1: boy right hill. It's a bad boy can act because
- 16:04Speaker 1: his ass was the damn genie. Oh I wanted a
- 16:11Speaker 1: lamp okay, But man, the movie was actually a good movie.
- 16:20Speaker 1: I just don't like singing in no damn movie singing
- 16:28Speaker 1: out still? Did I know that it's a Disney movie. More.
- 16:34Speaker 1: My sons was in that laughing in my ass. They said, Daddy,
- 16:36Speaker 1: every time a song came on, you took your hat off,
- 16:39Speaker 1: staring your head. You hear it, man, And margin down
- 16:46Speaker 1: there just sang in the damn song top of her lungs.
- 16:50Speaker 1: She's involved, and it's just y'all in there. Yeah, before
- 16:56Speaker 1: you didn't see the cartoon animation with Robin Williams. No,
- 17:02Speaker 1: I didn't know what that was. And the thing about
- 17:04Speaker 1: a musical, here's the thing about the musical. You never
- 17:06Speaker 1: know when a song is gonna come up at all
- 17:11Speaker 1: the inappropriate morad No point that I think this call
- 17:17Speaker 1: for a song man with that damn will smell man
- 17:23Speaker 1: much proper to that boy, that boy right there, Boy
- 17:26Speaker 1: could Lord have mercy? That boy could act. It was
- 17:29Speaker 1: really the good storyline. It was a really really good movie. Man.
- 17:32Speaker 1: I went I've went in for the flying carpet I went.
- 17:35Speaker 1: I bought in all of it. I wanted a carpet
- 17:39Speaker 1: and a damn lamp or if I could have that
- 17:43Speaker 1: lamp though, dog that Genie. The ending was good. It
- 17:49Speaker 1: was a good movie. But I died. I died in
- 17:51Speaker 1: that movie. You went to sleep? Noah, I ain't go
- 17:55Speaker 1: to sleep, and you don't go sleep in public? What's
- 18:00Speaker 1: that mean? You're gonna go to sleep in public? No,
- 18:02Speaker 1: there's no way I'm gonna be Republican. Go to sleep.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Close my eye, go sleep first. You can't even walk
- 18:07Speaker 1: up on the man. You can't safety and yeah, the
- 18:13Speaker 1: question is all you gonna go see John Wick? Well,
- 18:17Speaker 1: I ain't got no more days now, you know. Wife
- 18:21Speaker 1: just sucked up if you go to her see And
- 18:24Speaker 1: then my wife ignorant. So she had somebody standing in
- 18:28Speaker 1: front of the whole family and take a picture while
- 18:30Speaker 1: we're in the theater and one of them night cameras.
- 18:33Speaker 1: So this dude go and take a picture of us,
- 18:36Speaker 1: and my wife posted the picture and then on her
- 18:38Speaker 1: Instagram and the caption say, zoom in on Steve's face.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Yeah we see it right now, Marge that I didn't
- 18:47Speaker 1: look like I was watching it. Now you look crazy crazy.
- 18:53Speaker 1: But the family all look at the grandkids and Marjorie.
- 18:57Speaker 1: That's a nice family moment you had, Steve, school see
- 19:00Speaker 1: their grandpa, because you'd be tripping about your grandpa duties sometimes.
- 19:05Speaker 1: See there, how you feel you feel good? I want
- 19:10Speaker 1: to see John Wick gonna be real. I'm just gonna
- 19:13Speaker 1: keep but we thank you, Pap Paul. You see see
- 19:20Speaker 1: that made you feel good, right, appreciate, Yeah, I appreciate.
- 19:24Speaker 1: That's nice. Good Yeah, yeah, nah, good thing. John Wish
- 19:31Speaker 1: is a good ass movie though it really is. Man,
- 19:33Speaker 1: you just gonna rub solid in it. You just you
- 19:36Speaker 1: just can't killed County Stevie killed counted real high and
- 19:40Speaker 1: John Wick, Man, tell you roll for that. Something about
- 19:49Speaker 1: your junior. What you're doing for the weekend? Oh, man,
- 19:51Speaker 1: friend of mine got a real nice boat and he
- 19:53Speaker 1: took me over and some of his friends. Man, we
- 19:56Speaker 1: went over to the Bahamas. Man, what Yeah, Man, I
- 20:00Speaker 1: ain't living the life. Boy, I'm telling you, so you
- 20:05Speaker 1: want I think I get a bombus. I want to
- 20:07Speaker 1: get a boat. Oh, Steve, talk to your boy. You're
- 20:10Speaker 1: playing nephew over here. Help me on too. Here's the
- 20:14Speaker 1: rule about buying a boat. Two Greatest days of a
- 20:16Speaker 1: boat owner's life. The day he buyed and a day
- 20:20Speaker 1: he's selling. Tell him what you say that soon the
- 20:25Speaker 1: two greatest days. All right, well, we're gonna hear more
- 20:30Speaker 1: about Junior want to buy a boat. We got church complaints,
- 20:33Speaker 1: church announcement past, the Motown Deacon Junior, Reverend Adnoid all
- 20:38Speaker 1: in the building right after this you're listening to. Coming
- 20:44Speaker 1: up at the top of the hour, we'll have the
- 20:46Speaker 1: weekend box office report. And uh, it's Monday, so it's
- 20:50Speaker 1: time for church complaints. We got Deacon death Jam. He's out,
- 20:54Speaker 1: Reverend Motown Reverend Adnoid, Deacon Junior. So let's get to it.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Let's get to molding. Come on, good morning, good morning,
- 21:08Speaker 1: good morning. I love the Lord, the Lord of the Lord.
- 21:22Speaker 1: I love the Lord. Sake it again, Sake it again,
- 21:34Speaker 1: Love the Lord. Yes, it wouldn't hurt to sing it
- 21:45Speaker 1: one more time. It really wouldn't sing it one more
- 21:47Speaker 1: damn time? Say I love Oh the Lord is the
- 22:07Speaker 1: last time that is. Deacon death Jam is out, but
- 22:13Speaker 1: the church complaints will be conducted by Junior Deacon Junior
- 22:20Speaker 1: and my brother or reverend and noying. Let us begin,
- 22:26Speaker 1: Thank your pastor, thank you very much, pastor, this ungrateful
- 22:30Speaker 1: church you have here, Pastor bro Fota Skinner, who only
- 22:34Speaker 1: has two big toes. It's asking would you please stop
- 22:38Speaker 1: laughing at him when he's praised dancing. Yesterday you fell
- 22:42Speaker 1: out your chair and also that got the congregation laughing
- 22:46Speaker 1: as well. He said he can't dance while you laugh. No,
- 22:50Speaker 1: I think he could have stopped and he can't dance.
- 22:55Speaker 1: He didn't have to add me any You got five
- 23:00Speaker 1: my big toes on both feet, or what do you
- 23:04Speaker 1: want me to do? You got raisor cuts around all
- 23:08Speaker 1: your shoes, your your foot hooking out your shoe like
- 23:17Speaker 1: a fifty two card deck of cards. Just fray down else, No,
- 23:25Speaker 1: don't don't bother, don't even don't even bother with it.
- 23:31Speaker 1: You're ready, Here we go. The church has taken a
- 23:33Speaker 1: vote and we've come to the conclusion. Nobody wants to
- 23:37Speaker 1: say it, but the damnit I'm saying that the pastor's
- 23:40Speaker 1: wife cannot sing and she needs to stop. Okay, okay, okay,
- 23:47Speaker 1: she can't sing a lick at all, will you know?
- 23:53Speaker 1: Or she and is high army is to pass and
- 23:58Speaker 1: you are referring to my wife. Let me say this
- 24:02Speaker 1: at noise, careful, I know good and damn well. She
- 24:07Speaker 1: can't say, wait what I know good? And damn well?
- 24:12Speaker 1: She can't say, you don't think I know that? But
- 24:18Speaker 1: I sleep with hub What do you want me to
- 24:22Speaker 1: do about the happiness in my house? When I sleep
- 24:27Speaker 1: with a woman that can't say? But then she keeps
- 24:30Speaker 1: telling me the Lord said, come as you are, and
- 24:35Speaker 1: here she could just like what else you got? Huh?
- 24:42Speaker 1: Look here pastor hold on and just just so I
- 24:45Speaker 1: can even it out. My wife can't say ver a
- 24:49Speaker 1: noise and you can't preach it, go ahead and can't
- 24:51Speaker 1: reach Now you ain't got the vote. I just told you.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Nobody asked you to come up there on something asked
- 25:04Speaker 1: me go ahead, Deacon Junior, Yeah, past yesterday, the congregation
- 25:10Speaker 1: is very very furiated with you for the way that
- 25:13Speaker 1: you talked about the visiting who is my daddy Children's Choir?
- 25:18Speaker 1: You kept yelling not the father as they were singing,
- 25:21Speaker 1: and they just wanted an apology. Fac Well, that's not
- 25:28Speaker 1: gonna happen either. This was your father's. The visiting choir
- 25:34Speaker 1: was called who is my Daddy's Children's Quiet? He's wrong
- 25:37Speaker 1: for that. Well, you know they comprised. You know, I'll
- 25:41Speaker 1: jet be real with you. No, who is my father?
- 25:46Speaker 1: Quir was not talking about the Lord. None of the
- 25:51Speaker 1: kids that choir know that. No, No, it's you to
- 25:54Speaker 1: all the kids and the QUI don't know the kids
- 25:56Speaker 1: know their daddy, and I just I just throw out
- 25:59Speaker 1: hall not who is you that you know? All the
- 26:03Speaker 1: kids start crying. That ain't none of my fault. The
- 26:07Speaker 1: struggle is really really should name yourself quiet like you know,
- 26:13Speaker 1: the Gospel jewels or something. Once you once you putting
- 26:17Speaker 1: obvius out there, obvious got to be dealt with. That's faster. Alright, alright,
- 26:24Speaker 1: past this is kind of directed that you again, but
- 26:26Speaker 1: it's not a slack. But here you problem all the
- 26:30Speaker 1: members who drive Christ for three hundreds, but like all
- 26:35Speaker 1: the members who drive Christ for three hundreds asking that
- 26:39Speaker 1: you parked your real Rose Royce in the back because
- 26:43Speaker 1: it's making them look bad. If you could, just if
- 26:47Speaker 1: you can see a way to do that. You know,
- 26:49Speaker 1: it's about twelve Christ the three hundreds and up next
- 26:54Speaker 1: to a real damn You can see their pain. You
- 26:57Speaker 1: understand their paine. Let me ask you a couple of
- 27:02Speaker 1: questions here when you go to the club at night.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Do they put the roll roys in the back when
- 27:13Speaker 1: you go to valet at the restaurant? Do they put
- 27:17Speaker 1: the roll roy in the back when you pull up
- 27:22Speaker 1: at the hotel right out front Vegas, La? Anywhere? Have
- 27:32Speaker 1: you noticed that the roll ross is in the front.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Why would I take my roll roy and pull it
- 27:42Speaker 1: round to the back, because you Christler three hundred owners
- 27:48Speaker 1: want to flex your collar. Y'all have already phoned them
- 27:53Speaker 1: Chrystler three hundred Auto club. Ye remember how they used
- 27:58Speaker 1: to add a Z club in the club. Yeah, they
- 28:02Speaker 1: call them the C threes to C threes. And they
- 28:09Speaker 1: even called it, you know, they tried to take it
- 28:11Speaker 1: from CP three, you know, Chris Paul the three. But
- 28:16Speaker 1: it's up. It's a CPC, mh so chi CP stands.
- 28:26Speaker 1: CPC stands for colored people with christ We gotta go
- 28:33Speaker 1: past it. Yeah, that's a no. That's a no. Reverendad

- 48:16Speaker 1: I don't even know who the are you? How? Who

- 50:05Speaker 1: just want to tell you who I am? Can I
- 50:07Speaker 1: tell you who I am? You now, it told me

- 53:10Speaker 1: is out today, Steve. So, I'm gonna read the letter.
- 53:15Speaker 1: What y'all never do and I usually saved my comments
- 53:18Speaker 1: for lads. So how are we doing this? Hill? You
- 53:21Speaker 1: read the letter and then I'll comment. Okay, So I
- 53:29Speaker 1: hope my wife will have an open mind. Well, I
- 53:33Speaker 1: tell you what. I don't know what's in this letter,
- 53:41Speaker 1: But anytime a man say I hope my wife will
- 53:44Speaker 1: have an open mind before I read this letter, I'm
- 53:48Speaker 1: gonna just go out on the limb and say she
- 53:50Speaker 1: ain't right. Dear Stephen Shirley. I've been with my wife
- 53:55Speaker 1: over twenty years and I'm still deeply in love with
- 53:58Speaker 1: her and still find her very attractive and desirable. I
- 54:02Speaker 1: travel often for work but I have never cheated on
- 54:05Speaker 1: her while I'm away. We got married very young, but
- 54:09Speaker 1: have managed to keep our marriage interesting. About six or
- 54:13Speaker 1: six months ago, I joined an online day Now, okay,
- 54:17Speaker 1: here we go this way it starts to Yeah. I
- 54:26Speaker 1: joined an online dating app after friend told me about it.
- 54:30Speaker 1: I used it to look at the women's profiles and
- 54:33Speaker 1: text back and forth with a few of them. I
- 54:35Speaker 1: had no intention of ever meeting up with anyone where.
- 54:38Speaker 1: Early wasn't long before one special woman got my attention,
- 54:42Speaker 1: and we had so much in common we ended up
- 54:46Speaker 1: texting and video chatting daily. We've never met in person
- 54:51Speaker 1: because she knows I'm married, and it is wrong. But
- 54:55Speaker 1: the connection I had with this woman feels just like
- 54:59Speaker 1: their connection that I have with my wife. Boy or
- 55:04Speaker 1: I can't tell you to slippery slope your asses on,
- 55:09Speaker 1: boy if you need boy, if you could get out
- 55:11Speaker 1: this damn letter right out. Man, just bail out. I'm sorry, man,
- 55:19Speaker 1: you just you need to get out this damn letter.
- 55:21Speaker 1: Now we have this woman feels like the connection I
- 55:24Speaker 1: have with my wife. We are all the same age,
- 55:28Speaker 1: and I know my wife would also what. We are
- 55:33Speaker 1: all the same age, and I know my wife would
- 55:36Speaker 1: also be able to connect both spiritually and emotionally with her.
- 55:42Speaker 1: I want more than to have an a fan with
- 55:44Speaker 1: this woman. I want a life with her as well.
- 55:49Speaker 1: And I can't stop thinking that she could potentially be
- 55:53Speaker 1: my second wife. I've never talked to my wife about
- 55:58Speaker 1: the idea of having a sister wife what, but the
- 56:03Speaker 1: concept seems very interesting. I'm not going to keep my
- 56:07Speaker 1: own line woman a secret any longer. What. I owe
- 56:12Speaker 1: it to my wife to tell her and explain to
- 56:15Speaker 1: her what I want to do, what, what and what.
- 56:28Speaker 1: I would never leave my wife, So I'm praying that
- 56:31Speaker 1: it all works out. But first, what I want to
- 56:37Speaker 1: ask you if I'm overthinking this and I sound ridiculous, Yes,
- 56:43Speaker 1: I'm married to a black woman and I know that
- 56:46Speaker 1: it could go terribly wrong. Boy, I should I approach this? Boy,
- 56:51Speaker 1: Jesus help me. I'll need the cable show. Yes, you
- 56:56Speaker 1: do all my turn? Here we go. So let's get
- 57:01Speaker 1: this straight. You're worried about your approach when you're gonna
- 57:04Speaker 1: talk to your wife, How you're gonna approach this. You've
- 57:07Speaker 1: been married for twenty years, so you travel a law
- 57:10Speaker 1: of work. That's which you said you've never cheated on
- 57:12Speaker 1: your wife, but six months ago you decided to join
- 57:15Speaker 1: this online online dating app to keep your marriage interesting.
- 57:20Speaker 1: I don't understand how does a married man join an
- 57:23Speaker 1: online dating app. You are not available to date. So
- 57:28Speaker 1: you say that you and this woman have this spiritual
- 57:30Speaker 1: and emotional connection, but you've never met her in person.
- 57:35Speaker 1: You guys, have only communicated through the video chat or texting.
- 57:40Speaker 1: So now you say this connection is so strong that
- 57:43Speaker 1: you were about to tell your wife that you want
- 57:46Speaker 1: to marry her and make her your second wife or
- 57:49Speaker 1: sister wife. What in the words of Steve Harvey, what
- 57:55Speaker 1: So it sounds like to me that I don't know.
- 57:57Speaker 1: You're just infatuated with this woman. This is something new,
- 58:01Speaker 1: but you probably get bored with her and then you're
- 58:03Speaker 1: gonna have to find another wife. This is all crazy.
- 58:07Speaker 1: You're trying to introduce this I don't know, this new
- 58:11Speaker 1: lifestyle to your wife. I just don't understand how you
- 58:14Speaker 1: can come home and be like, yo, baby, By the way,
- 58:17Speaker 1: I want you to meet this woman who was going
- 58:19Speaker 1: to be my other wife, and she's okay with that?
- 58:22Speaker 1: How is that an option in your marriage? Like, that's
- 58:25Speaker 1: not normal. I don't know nobody who has more than
- 58:29Speaker 1: one wife or husband. And I know a lot of
- 58:32Speaker 1: people from all walks of life, you know, we know
- 58:35Speaker 1: all kinds of people, but multiple wives and husband. I
- 58:39Speaker 1: just I've never heard this is not normal behavior. But
- 58:42Speaker 1: if you feel this strongly about it and you feel
- 58:45Speaker 1: you have to follow your heart, didn't you go tell
- 58:48Speaker 1: that black woman that you've been married to for over
- 58:51Speaker 1: twenty years? He said he's married to a black woman,
- 58:58Speaker 1: So you go tell her, you know that sister that
- 59:01Speaker 1: you want a sister wife. And this is going to
- 59:04Speaker 1: be a catastrophe. She is going to leave you, and
- 59:07Speaker 1: then I don't know, you can be with the woman
- 59:09Speaker 1: from the dating app and marry her. I don't know.
- 59:12Speaker 1: I don't know what to say to that. But this
- 59:14Speaker 1: is not normal behavior, Steve. We got about thirty seconds.
- 59:18Speaker 1: You want to jump in and start, because I can't
- 59:20Speaker 1: even start. All I'm gonna do is go back to
- 59:22Speaker 1: the top of the letter. I hope my wife will
- 59:26Speaker 1: have an open mind. Brother, based on the letter I
- 59:31Speaker 1: just read, You're the stupidest person that the road into
- 59:36Speaker 1: me in a long time. And I'm gonna address it
- 59:39Speaker 1: when we come back, all right. Part two of Steve's
- 59:43Speaker 1: response at twenty three after the hour you're listening to.
- 59:50Speaker 1: All right, let's recap today's strawberry letter. Come on, Steve,
- 59:53Speaker 1: let's go with part two of your response. Give everybody
- 59:58Speaker 1: the title in the subject of the lettering and get
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: into it. See the tyler. This letter is I hope
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: my wife will have an open mind. I ain't got
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: no recap because I didn't do it, So here we go.
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: This is fool. Then wrote a letter in explaining to
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: us that he'd been with his wife over twenty years
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: and in love with him, still attractive. He'd been traveling.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: They got married young. Let's say they got married at
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: twenty and they've been married twenty years. Let's just say
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: they forty. All right, cool, We got married very young,
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: managed to keep our marriage interested, and about six months
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: ago I joined the online dating app after Fred told
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: me about it. What doc, we did? What you joined
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: an online dating out after a friend told you about it? Himp,
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: you're not available for an online dating out. This all
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: this you talk mean about what you ain't never did,
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: And how y'all manager's interested. She's still attractive and desirable.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: What is your own line for? Boy? This is stupid?
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: Then you said then you suggest go to look on
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: it for profiles and text back and forth. Had no
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: intention ever meeting up with anybody, And then it wasn't long.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: Here we go? What't longful? One special woman got my attention.
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: We had so much in common we ended up texting it,
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: video chatting daily. We've never met in person because she
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: knows I'm married, and it is wrong. But the connection
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: I had with this woman. Hit this this way and
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: let her get it real damn stupid. Everything from this
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: let her on down gets stupid. But then the connection
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: I had with this woman feels just like the connection
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: I had with my wife. Boy, this is the beginning,
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: some ignorant asked right here. This is how you just
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: start your fam self by trying to tell yourself that
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: check downb ass. Then God with a woman that you
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: ain't ever seen. I ain't ever had an argument with
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: your video chatting, and it's exact same connection you have
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: with your wife. You kidding yourself? Man? We are aught.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: Here we go. We are all the same age, and
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: listen to this. I know my wife would also be
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: able to connect both spiritually and emotionally with her. Boor
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: you ain't been out in the game. Though, what did
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: you just say you think your wife will be able
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: to connect both spiritually and emotionally with her? What are
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: you nuts? Then? This boy? Get if I told you
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: just let it just go to hell? After this, I
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: want more than to have an a fan with this woman.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: You don't win from I've never been in a fair time.
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: I want to have an affair with this woman. I
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: want a life with her as well. And I can't
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: stop thinking that she could potentially be my second wife.
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: What you so damn stupid. You're the dumnest man that
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: wrote into this show. We've been doing this show, sit
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: two thousand and five, the dumbest damn Yeah, well, I
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: can't stop think she could potentially be my second wife.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: Now I'm thinking you was gonna divorce the first one
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: and make her your second wife. But oh no, I've
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: never talked to my wife about the idea of having
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: a sister wife. You've been watching these white people on HBO,
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: even sitting up in him. First of all, your black
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: a more, your black ass, don't live in you talk.
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: Your black ass, ain't mad to no white girl. You're
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: married to a system. You're gonna sit in here, tell
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: about you're gonna have it introduced the idea of having
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: a sister wife. Then he says, but the concept seems
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: very interesting. Now that's a stupid lad. I'm not going
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: to keep my own line woman a secret any longer
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: or you're dumb, dumb man, ain't gonna see. I owe
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: it took boy, this line right here. I owe it
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: to my wife to tell her and explain to her
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: what I want to do. I would never leave my wife.
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: You're not. You're gonna leave both of them. So I'm
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: praying that it all works out. Please don't pray for this.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: Do not drag the Lord into this, please please, man,
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: Please do not drag the Lord into this. This ain't
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: what he do. God don't God, don't co sign sin.
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: But first I want to ask you if I'm we
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: were thinking this and I sound ridiculous. Yes, I'm married
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: to a black woman and I know this could go
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: terribly wrong. How should I approach it? Boy? If you
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: don't go set your heads down, Hey man, listen to me.
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: Listen up, Steve, get this foolishness out of your head.

- 1:06:06Speaker 1: and sometimes we didn't know that damn real name. But
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: the name, the nickname didn't match the personality. Stay with him,
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: Still with him. For instance, we all knew somebody in
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: school named doll baby, But what the what? But she
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: she look like a dog baby. Ain't look like a
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: dog baby in years, in years and I'm talking in years. Yeah, baby, school,
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: somebody names speedy speedy, but but his an walk real slow. Jay,
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: you do the beginning to all of them, and I
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: had the how about we talking about nicknames? Everybody got
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: somebody who knows somebody that's got nicknames, but the nickname
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: don't match the personal How about somebody the name is
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: smiles Steve, but what ain't got a two finish here
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: all smile smile? When the school with the person his
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: nickname for years, everybody called him books Books stopped going
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: to school in the seventh grade. Books ain't been to
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: school since seth grade. That all, yeah, what y'all caring
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: there for? They called Books dog nickname, that their nickname,
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: but they don't matter the person that nickname is slim
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: fat ass. Wait, four hundred pounds. He was slim in
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: junior high. He bed ridden that four hundred every slim?
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: I know? How about this nickname nickname? His nickname through
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: school was cash money broke his hail the opposite. I
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: love this nickname. And in last but not least, anybody
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: would little in front of that name ain't little at all, No, no,
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: because they did. They started that in the seventies and eighties.
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: Little John Live, Mike Live Bye Wild, Little Wayne, George
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: Wallace got aunt he called white girl. Problem me is
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: ain't nobody in his family light He even lighted one
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: George Waller lights. Wonder if everybody didn't family call him
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: read I thank you guys, nicknames. I love it. Coming

- 1:10:39Speaker 1: band around it. It ain't right until it bubble up
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: in the middle. What when when it bubble up and
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: you put that bread in that pan and put that
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: Greek I know it ain't good. That's why I'm probably
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: diabetic today. But that's the damn good as sound you yeah, yeah,
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: that's good. Yeah, yeah yeah. They called that and stop

- 1:11:10Speaker 1: stop six, stop six. That's that's just deep up in that. Man. All.
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: You got to know your way out that this is
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: just a Cleveland sandwich. A lot of people don't know
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: about these, but that's just y'all stand problem. I'll be
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: making them all the week long. At the camp. I
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: use Earl Campbell Sausage. I put down a hot dog.
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: I put a couple of crinkle cut or order fries
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: in the bottom of the hot dog. I laid the
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: hot Link sausage on top. I put some more fries
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: on top of the hot league with a row of
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: cold slaw, and then I drizzled it in barbecue sauce.
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: That's a sandwich right there. That's called the Polish Boy.
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: When I do it at the camp, I call it
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: to Cleveland, the Clevelander. Yeah, I like the Cleveland. What
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: best sandwich of Hell? I want that one. He just said,

- 1:18:48Speaker 1: Monday morning, Good Monday. We had some fun this morning.
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: Uh huh, Shirley's out, nephews out. They'll both be back tomorrow. Steve,
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: You're gonna leave us with some closing remarks. You've been
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: dropping some jewels and not some wisdom. Man. Let me see,
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: I was thinking again of what I could say to
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: be encouraging to people. Um. I have a couple of
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: poems that have kept me throughout my life that I
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: learned actually while I was pledging. Man, that was so
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: the greatest thing that pledging gave me was beside some
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: friendships that I still have to this day, it taught
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: me so much that I needed to know at a
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: young age about surviving and thriving and hanging in there.
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: And I learned a couple of poems that have kept
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: me And if you look them up, man, they're very,
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: very valuable. Not nothing replaces my spiritual life at all.
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: And the two aren't to be compared, but they are
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: to be appreciated on both levels. The first person. One
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: of the strongest poems I learned was a poem called
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: Invictus and an appointment says the term gods with an S.
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: But I never say gods because there's only one. And
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: even the entire time I was pledging, I told him
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: I wasn't gonna say gods because and they didn't have
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: no brothers. Didn't have a problem with that at all.
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: But the poem was great. I haven't memorized, I don't
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: haven't written down anywhere, so y'all forgive me as I
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: pull it up out of my memory. But Invictus is
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: something like this, out of the night that covers me
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: black as a pit, from pole to pole. I think,
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: whatever God may be, from my unconquerable soul in the
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: failed clutch of circumstance, I have not winced nor cried aloud.
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: And under the bludgeonings of chance, my head is bloodied
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: but unbowed. And beyond this place of rafting tears looms.
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: But the horror of the shade. And yet the minutes
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: of the years finds, and she'll find me unafraid. It
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: matters not how straight the gate, how charged with punishment
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: the scroll. I am the master of my fate. I
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: am the captain of my soul. That poem in Victors
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: has kept me through a lot of troubling times. The
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: other poem that kept me was a poem to us.
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: It has a title of Don't Quit, but the authors unknown.
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: It's an unknown author. If you look it up, just
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: look up the poem don't Quit but It's been a
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: staple in my repertoire, things that I say to myself
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: in difficult times, And it goes something like this when
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: things go wrong, as they sometimes will, when the road
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: you're trudging seems all uphell, when your funds are low
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: and your debts are high. When you want to smile,
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: but you have to sigh when cares are pressing you down.
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: A bit, rest if you must, but don't quit. For
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: life is queer with his twisting turns, as every one
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: of us must sometimes learn. And many a fellow has
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: turned about when he might have won had he stuck
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: it out. So don't give up. Though the pace seems slow.
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: You may succeed with another blow. Often the gold is
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: nearer than it seems to a faint and a faltering man.
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: And often the struggle that has given up when he
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: might have captured the victor's cup, and he learns too late,
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: when the night came down, how close he was to
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: the golden crown. And you never can tell how close
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: you are. It may be near when it seems afar,
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: So stick to the fight when your hardest hit. It's
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: when things seem worse that you mustn't quit. Those two
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: poems right there have kept me in some dark moments.
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: Somebody made me a T shirt the other day in
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: the Cleveland Cavalier colors of maroon and gold and gave
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: it to me as a gift, and the T shirt said,
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: I'm a sixty two year old black man from Cleveland, Ohio.
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: What you want? And it's sort of funny, man, because
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: a lot of times when people saying stuff, people who
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: really know. I say to people all the time, what
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: you want from me? You know, I'm only human. I'm
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: subject to make mistakes, I air, I get it wrong
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: sometimes I'm not perfect. I swan a lot, so I'm
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: gonna hit a lot of strikeouts. You know, when you
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: swaying in the bat, A lot of times you ain't
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: gonna all of them ain't gonna be hit. But I
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: have such a sheer number of at bats that it
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: causes people to be able to see a few more
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: times of me failing. But some people never You don't
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: ever have to worry about watching them fail because they're
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: not attempting anything. So if you're the person who's being
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: criticized for your efforts, you have to know that you
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: gotta hang in that because there's so many people that's
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: criticizing you that's not even making an effort. Now I'm
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: a paraphrase another one, but I'm paraphrasing this. This doesn't
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: work exactly like this. It says the credit belongs to
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: the man who is actually in the arena, whose face
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: is marred with dust, blood, sweat, and tears, not to
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: those cold and timid souls in the stands who know
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: neither victory nor defeat. That one has kept me too,
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: because I realized that a lot of people that are
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: criticizing you are not even in the same game you win.
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: So when you out there striving and you're hustling and
