Latest / The Lila Rose Show / E3: Is Abortion Ever Ok?
Transcript
- 0:00Hey guys, welcome again to the Lila Rose Show.
- 0:04I'm really excited because today's episode is something
- 0:07that I hope will be very helpful to folks listening.
- 0:10This is something that's been in the news a lot lately and a lot.
- 0:14I've gotten a lot of questions and and feedback and ideas and
- 0:20comments from a lot of you as well as seeing it coming,
- 0:24flooding into live action. The pro-life organization that
- 0:28I'm a part of that helps to educate millions of people with
- 0:31the truth about abortion. And this is the huge controversy
- 0:34right now about life, about what is the value of human life.
- 0:38Is abortion OK? And all the laws that are being
- 0:41passed, which is wonderful in now six different states,
- 0:45heartbeat bills in the last six months.
- 0:47And there are 9 different states that have had strong pro-life
- 0:50measures passed just this year. This is at the same time that
- 0:55other states like Illinois and New York before that and
- 0:58Virginia have passed or are attempting to pass extreme pro
- 1:02abortion laws, the laws that would allow abortion through all
- 1:05nine months of pregnancy for any reason on babies of babies of
- 1:08any age. So this this controversy has
- 1:11gripped our country. And I want to first say that I
- 1:14think that this is a very good thing.
- 1:17I think that it is long overdue for our nation to have a record
- 1:22day on this human rights issue of abortion.
- 1:25That it's long overdue for us to come together and actually have
- 1:29that conversation of what is abortion?
- 1:31What is it doing to these human beings that are our future, our
- 1:35children in the womb? What is it really doing to women
- 1:38and girls, to families, to our society, to the fabric of our,
- 1:43of even how we view each other and how we treat one another.
- 1:46And this controversy that's been long beneath the surface needs
- 1:50to come above the surface and needs to be talked about.
- 1:52And we need to decide as a nation, will we protect human
- 1:55life? Do we value human life?
- 1:58Since 1973, as many of you know, abortion has been legalized in
- 2:04this country, in some States and eight different states,
- 2:06basically through all nine months.
- 2:09And this was the result of Roe V.
- 2:11Wade, a Supreme Court decision and its companion case, Dovey
- 2:14Bolton. There were seven Supreme Court
- 2:17justices that decided this for the entire nation, seven
- 2:21different men in the Supreme Court who decided for the entire
- 2:23nation that abortion would now be the law of the land.
- 2:25It would be considered a constitutional right.
- 2:28And since then, there have been over 60 million deaths, over 60
- 2:35million children who have lost their lives because of abortion.
- 2:39This is why I've spent the last 15 years of my life since I was
- 2:42a teenager, investing in helping grow the pro-life movement,
- 2:46helping educate, because I strongly believe that when
- 2:48people are educated, people change.
- 2:50People change their minds on this and they become pro-life
- 2:54and they become proudly pro-life.
- 2:55And I've seen it happen countless times.
- 2:57And So what I want to do today is use this episode, use the
- 3:00next 30 minutes to dive into some of the misinformation that
- 3:05has been spread around in the last six months.
- 3:08I have seen thousands of comments and there probably have
- 3:10been millions at this point from people debating and discussing
- 3:14abortion online. This is on Instagram and Twitter
- 3:17and Facebook. People are having these
- 3:19conversations in their workplaces with friends through
- 3:22text message. People are having conversations
- 3:25right now about abortion, and that's a good thing.
- 3:27So first of all, I want to do a shout out to anybody out there
- 3:30who has been engaging bravely and communicating the facts, the
- 3:34truth about abortion and about pushing back against the lies
- 3:39that are being told because there is a ton of lies being
- 3:41told right now. A special shout out to the Live
- 3:43Action Ambassadors team. This is a program, Live Action
- 3:46is growing. I think we have several 100
- 3:48ambassadors. I think we have 2000 applicants
- 3:50in now. And this is a program for those
- 3:53that are willing and ready and trained.
- 3:55We help train you to speak out on life.
- 3:57And I'll include a link to this so that you guys can join if you
- 4:01want. Or anybody else in any pro-life
- 4:03group or in anywhere in the country who's doing this or even
- 4:06internationally who's doing this.
- 4:08Thank you. Keep going, stay strong.
- 4:10We need your voice. Your voice makes a huge
- 4:13difference. I also just want to note really
- 4:16quick before I dive into some of the misconceptions,
- 4:19misinformation, the myths that are being told, that there have
- 4:23been a lot of very high profile people who have chimed in
- 4:27recently. You guys may have seen this even
- 4:30recently Disney and Netflix have said that they oppose Georgia's
- 4:35law, heartbeat law, law, which would basically protect a baby
- 4:39once his or her heartbeat can be detected, which is about 7 weeks
- 4:43in utero, about 5 weeks from the moment of conception, seven
- 4:46weeks from when a woman is considered she's pregnant.
- 4:49So this is just 21 1/2 days or so, 21 1/2 days, 3 1/2 weeks or
- 4:55so after a child is conceived, her little heart or his heart
- 4:59starts to beat and within just a few weeks after that, the full
- 5:04fully formed heart is present. All four chambers.
- 5:07It's incredible how quickly a baby grows in the first
- 5:09trimester. A lot of you guys know or may
- 5:11know I'm pregnant. I'm actually 10 weeks pregnant.
- 5:15My baby's heart is almost completely perfectly formed and
- 5:19just needs to get bigger but has almost all all 4 chambers.
- 5:23It's amazing how quickly again in just the first trimester that
- 5:27baby grows and I heard my little 1.
- 5:29I don't know if it's a boy or girl yet but I heard his or her
- 5:32heartbeat just a few weeks ago and it was one of the most
- 5:35beautiful sounds I ever heard. So I'm so proud of Georgia for
- 5:38doing this. But now Disney and Netflix are
- 5:41threatening to boycott Georgia and not do any filming because
- 5:44it's become a big filming and filming spot location.
- 5:48They do tax credits for these companies.
- 5:49They've said we're going to threaten to not film there
- 5:52anymore more. It's so terribly ironic.
- 5:55You know, Disney does business with China and China has
- 5:58internment camps for Muslims and they persecute Christians And
- 6:02they, they, there's a recent report about how they harvest
- 6:05organs from living dissident prisoners, you know, political
- 6:09prisoners. I mean, horrific human rights
- 6:11abuses. They have forced abortion in
- 6:13China. And meanwhile, Netflix and
- 6:16Disney are picking on Georgia for being pro-life.
- 6:19Well, proud of Georgia cuz they're saying we don't, We're
- 6:22going to keep standing for life no matter what.
- 6:24We're going to stand by our heartbeat bill, which is
- 6:26supposed to go into effect this summer.
- 6:29So very proud of Georgia, very proud Alabama, very proud of
- 6:31many of these states, Mississippi who are passing
- 6:35strong pro-life laws. The 6th topics I'm going to run
- 6:39through briefly here that I think have been the six top
- 6:44topics I've seen, which are areas of misinformation.
- 6:48People commenting or using arguments on the abortion side
- 6:51that I think are areas of misinformation.
- 6:54They include number one, that we need abortion and that Georgia
- 6:58and Alabama and all these states are doing the wrong thing
- 7:01because the children who would be born who are being aborted
- 7:05instead, these children will have terrible lives.
- 7:08Look at the foster care system, look at poverty.
- 7:11So number one, we need abortion because these babies will have a
- 7:14terrible life #2 Top reason and justification I've seen for why
- 7:19we need abortion is because of rape and incest and how horrible
- 7:22of pro lifers to not allow for abortion because what about rape
- 7:26and incest? The third issue that I've seen
- 7:30frequently is what about mother's life being in danger?
- 7:34You know you're going to create harm for women and kill women.
- 7:37Pro laborers want to kill women, we've heard because the mother's
- 7:40life is in danger. Someone respond to that #4
- 7:43disability. The child will have serious
- 7:45disabilities or could even die after birth.
- 7:46So it should be legal to abort them beforehand.
- 7:49It's no problem. And then the next one is #5 safe
- 7:54abortion. Meaning if we make abortion
- 7:56illegal, it will be unsafe behind the back alley and women
- 8:01are going to self abort. And that's why we need to stop
- 8:04and we need to allow for abortion.
- 8:06And then the last one, number six is men aren't allowed to
- 8:10speak on abortion. So shut up.
- 8:12No men allowed. And so I'm going to run through
- 8:15each of these and provide a response, some of the best
- 8:19responses I've seen to each of these arguments.
- 8:22I hope this is helpful for you guys.
- 8:24Live Action also has done a ton of reporting.
- 8:26I've been doing a lot of Instagramming about this and
- 8:29posting, but this is a quick run through about how we can respond
- 8:33to some of the biggest myths, misinformation, arguments when
- 8:37it comes to the controversy on abortion right now.
- 8:40So we're going to start with the one, the charge that the child
- 8:45will have a terrible life and there's just too many kids out
- 8:49there in poverty and foster care system already.
- 8:51So we need abortion. So first of all, I would say,
- 8:54can you say that to any child right now?
- 8:57Look a child or a teenager that's in the foster care system
- 9:00in the eyes and say it would have been better if you had been
- 9:03aborted because that is exactly what the this argument is.
- 9:08This argument is it would be better for someone to die than
- 9:12to be adopted or to be in the foster care system or to begin
- 9:16their life in poverty. And not only that it would be
- 9:19better for them to die, but that there's no hope for them if they
- 9:22do have that path. And I would just say, first of
- 9:25all, an apology if someone listening is an adoptee or to
- 9:31spend time in foster care or maybe still is in foster care or
- 9:34you know, came from a very poor background or challenging life
- 9:38circumstances. I am sorry for all of the hatred
- 9:42effectively that you have seen online primarily and from
- 9:46elitists. A lot of these people that are
- 9:49just looking out from their ivory tower saying how great
- 9:51abortion is because it will do away with these people that are
- 9:53not wanted. You are wanted.
- 9:56You have just as much value as anyone else, anybody else, no
- 10:00matter how privileged they are. And it is a shame when people
- 10:03use this argument because it is a non argument.
- 10:06The reality is anybody, no matter how poor they are, no
- 10:10matter their life circumstances, no matter how they were
- 10:12conceived, has just as much value as anyone else.
- 10:15And our solution as a society should be to focus on improving
- 10:19outcomes, improving conditions for those that are struggling.
- 10:24And that's why I'm really proud and proud of Alabama.
- 10:26They just banned abortion and guess what?
- 10:29They just reported their best year yet for foster to adoption
- 10:33to improve the foster care system so that kids who are
- 10:36struggling in that system are adopted into loving, stable
- 10:39families. They just had their highest year
- 10:41yet their their record year yet for the amount of adoptions.
- 10:44So Alabama are doing the right thing.
- 10:46And this insinuation that those in the pro-life community do not
- 10:50care about kids who are struggling or in poverty is one
- 10:54of the biggest lies ever. Because we not only care, but
- 10:57some of the people that are the most active in the pro-life
- 11:00movement are the ones who are adopting, who are fostering, who
- 11:03are volunteering for low income moms.
- 11:05There are thousands of pro-life pregnancy care centers in this
- 11:07country. I've been privileged to
- 11:09volunteer at many of at not many of them, but a few of them.
- 11:12It would be impossible to volunteer at many of them
- 11:14because there's so many thousands, but they are
- 11:16providing low care for low income women and girls and
- 11:21families who are struggling, who need support for their
- 11:25pregnancies as well as early childhood, to care with diapers
- 11:28and formula, parenting classes, all kinds of resources.
- 11:32It's all pro bono, it's all confidential, it's all free.
- 11:35Where is the media and the reports on that?
- 11:38Where is the media and the reports on Alabama having a
- 11:42record year for adoptions in the foster care, out of the foster
- 11:45care system? Also, some reports say that
- 11:48there are 2 million couples on waiting lists and waiting to
- 11:52adopt, many of them infertile. But many of them are not able to
- 11:56adopt because not just because of the high cost of adoptions,
- 11:59many of these are prepared to pay it out and shell it out.
- 12:02But because there aren't enough babies to adopt, there are.
- 12:06There are actually not enough babies to adopt.
- 12:08So in the foster care system and any given year there's about
- 12:10400,000 kids, only about 100 of them are even available for
- 12:14adoption or up for adoption. And of those, those children,
- 12:18most of them are not babies. Most of them are kids, sibling
- 12:22groups, children with disabilities, children who are
- 12:25teens. So the reality is we are missing
- 12:28children, babies in this country because they're being aborted.
- 12:32So yes, we need to focus on the foster care system, improving
- 12:34it. We need to lower the cost for
- 12:35adoption. There's a lot of public policy
- 12:37we can work on and social change we can work on, But that work is
- 12:40in process. People are working on that.
- 12:43The problem is violence destroying a life before they're
- 12:48even born because of this idea that their life is not worth it
- 12:52is not a good argument. And it it's not fair to all of
- 12:56those who have overcome incredible challenges in their
- 12:59life. And the and the reality that
- 13:01anybody can overcome that there is always hope.
- 13:05And that is the message of the pro-life movement.
- 13:08So that's the first topic I've heard a lot is what about the
- 13:11kids in foster care? What about what about, you know,
- 13:15we need to have abortion because of them?
- 13:17Another one, and I'm going to go next to it and you probably have
- 13:19heard of it, is the rape and incest issue.
- 13:22And I want to actually read one of the comments we've seen on
- 13:24social media from somebody about this.
- 13:27So this is a comment from someone, I'm not going to say
- 13:29their name, but their social media abortion pro abortion
- 13:33comment. It says personally, I believe
- 13:36the sacredness of body autonomy supersedes emotions of others.
- 13:41And attempting to force any rape victim to carry a fetus is
- 13:45cruel. There is no disputing it is
- 13:48fetal tissue through 12 weeks and no more alive than a brain
- 13:54dead person on life support longer.
- 13:57OK, a few things to unpack from the social media comment.
- 14:00Of course this comment, this person commenting is trying to
- 14:03say abortion is necessary in cases of rape and incest.
- 14:05They're also saying that body autonomy supersedes emotions.
- 14:09And there's no disputing that. It's just fetal tissue.
- 14:11It's not a human being basically in the first trimester.
- 14:14Wrong on all counts. First of all, yes, I believe in
- 14:18body autonomy. Bodily autonomy.
- 14:20We all do in the pro-life movement.
- 14:21Everybody does, but only to a degree.
- 14:23My autonomy doesn't equal my right to do whatever I want with
- 14:27my body to the extent of harming someone else.
- 14:30A man doesn't have so much bodily autonomy that he can go
- 14:33and stab someone else or punch somebody else.
- 14:36I don't have so much bodily autonomy that I can go and use
- 14:38my body to commit theft and steal something or to hurt
- 14:42another person. And in any pregnancy there are
- 14:45two bodies, a child's body independent and unique inside of
- 14:49me as well as my body. And their body is not my body,
- 14:55even though it is inside of me and and needs me for at least
- 14:59the 1st 22 1/2 weeks until maybe advanced medical technology can
- 15:04keep that little one alive. So I say that to say, first of
- 15:07all, when it comes to the issue of rape and incest, which are
- 15:10these horrific, horrific abuses that there we have to consider 2
- 15:16bodies. But let's talk that through.
- 15:18So first of all, you may know and have heard the statistic.
- 15:21It's important to note less than 1% of all abortions happen in
- 15:25the cases of rape, incest, or the life health of health of the
- 15:28mother. These are statistics that have
- 15:30been shared even from groups that are pro abortion groups
- 15:33even when they do their analysis.
- 15:35So this idea that we need abortion on demand because of
- 15:39rape and incest is actually a false idea immediately because
- 15:41the reality is it's less than 1% of all abortions.
- 15:45That being said, is that 1% OK? And the answer is no.
- 15:48And This is why first of all rape.
- 15:50And it's just like I said, are horrific abuses.
- 15:54Actually, a lot of live actions work has been focused on
- 15:57exposing the connection between the the sex trafficking industry
- 16:03and rape, rapes and rapists and their abusers, abuses and
- 16:08abortion. Because abortion facilities are
- 16:10a prime place for rapists and sex traffickers to take their
- 16:15victims. Because if there's a pregnancy
- 16:16that does result. And usually this happens in a
- 16:18situation where there's ongoing rape, where there is ongoing
- 16:21sexual abuse of a minor. So there's an authority figure
- 16:24like a stepdad or something, or there's an actual pimp who has
- 16:28control over a young girl and he's continuing to rape her or
- 16:31sell her body. And so she gets pregnant at some
- 16:34point. And what happens?
- 16:35Well in that situation they take her to a reproductive health
- 16:38clinic that doesn't ask any questions and that is often
- 16:41Planned Parenthood. Live Action has documented this
- 16:44extensively. I've actually gone undercover
- 16:46and exposed this in abortion facilities.
- 16:49You can read all about it on the Live Action website.
- 16:51Will also include that link. But the point here is abortion
- 16:57is not a healing pathway for survivors of rape or incest.
- 17:03Survivor of rape or incest just had a horrific trauma inflicted
- 17:07upon them. Abortion is a second trauma that
- 17:10would be inflicted upon them. Abortion does not UN rape them.
- 17:14It does not take away the trauma that they endured.
- 17:15It adds another trauma and it takes out the penalty on an
- 17:20innocent third party, on that child, that girl or boy who was
- 17:25conceived in rape but did not have any choice about how he or
- 17:28she came into the world, instead of taking out the penalty on the
- 17:32one who was the perpetrator, the abuser, the rapist.
- 17:36In the United States, it's not even legal to give the death
- 17:39penalty. It's against federal law to give
- 17:42the death penalty to a rapist. So why is it OK to give the
- 17:47death penalty to a child conceived in rape?
- 17:50Rebecca Keesling is one of those people.
- 17:53Beautiful woman, mother for a lawyer.
- 17:55Now, she founded a group called Save the One.
- 17:58But she was conceived in rape. And she says, should I be given
- 18:03the death penalty for the crimes of my father?
- 18:06No, Rebecca, you shouldn't be. You were innocent.
- 18:09And Rebecca's mother got pregnant with Rebecca after a
- 18:13rape, after horrific rapes that she endured the year before Roe
- 18:16V Wade. So the year before abortion was
- 18:18legal. And she actually looked to find
- 18:21an abortionist because she was so overwhelmed she was not able
- 18:24to. She ended up delivering Rebecca
- 18:25and placing her for adoption. And later on in life, she shared
- 18:29with Rebecca that it was actually a healing thing for
- 18:32her, that something beautiful and good came out of something
- 18:35so dark and horrible. The rate that she endured.
- 18:39Very few studies are done on this, but the study, some of the
- 18:42few that have been done, found that those who are rape and
- 18:46incest survivors and those that choose life.
- 18:50Of those that are surveyed, 73% end up choosing life to begin
- 18:55with. Even though they're often told
- 18:56you should have an abortion, 73% actually end up choosing life.
- 18:59So you actually talk to the stories of women who are and
- 19:01girls who do survive rape and incest.
- 19:04They actually, many of the majority of them actually decide
- 19:07to choose life no matter what they're being told.
- 19:09And that's something that they felt was important to bring
- 19:12something good out of such a horrible situation.
- 19:15Another important statistic to share here from the same study
- 19:19and live action reports on this that also include the link it's
- 19:22the Reardon study is that 88% of the women who aborted after
- 19:29having an after being victims of incest or rape actually
- 19:33regretted their abortion and said that they felt they made
- 19:36the wrong choice. 88% and keep in mind today victims survivors
- 19:42of rape and incest, especially when they're very young, they
- 19:45are told left and right to have an abortion.
- 19:47In fact pro abortion groups campaign with them and say this
- 19:51is your right. This happened in Latin America
- 19:54recently. There was a horrific case of an
- 19:5511 year old girl who was a survivor of incest and all these
- 20:00pro abortion groups tried to get her her country to legalize
- 20:03abortion. Using her as the poster child,
- 20:04How dare they, how dare they use her trauma to say that what she
- 20:08needs to heal is an abortion. More trauma, another violent
- 20:11act. It's simply not true.
- 20:13So those are some responses to that common argument.
- 20:17You may hear that somehow we need abortion because of rape
- 20:19and incest. And if you are a survivor of
- 20:21rape and incest, then abortion is good for you.
- 20:23No, it's another trauma and it takes out that it takes out that
- 20:28that penalty on an innocent third party.
- 20:32Evil cannot come from more evil. More violence cannot create
- 20:35healing. It never works that way.
- 20:38The next the next comment that I see a ton and you've probably
- 20:43seen is we need to have abortion because the mother's life is in
- 20:49danger. You know, abortion is necessary
- 20:51because women are going to die if they do not have an abortion
- 20:54because abortion is, is medically necessary.
- 20:57So a few things here. First of all, and I'm actually
- 21:00have a comment on this that I, I want to read because I just
- 21:03think these comments are what we're all seeing online, right?
- 21:06So here's a comment. It says, it says this is from
- 21:12somebody with a funny username. He says they certainly don't
- 21:16care about the health of the mother who can still get an
- 21:18abortion even with a ban, albeit a less safer one, or if the
- 21:22mother's life is in danger in childbirth.
- 21:25So first of all, if a mother's, let's start with childbirth, if
- 21:28a mother's life is in danger in childbirth, you don't have to
- 21:30kill the child. You deliver the child as quickly
- 21:34and as safely as you can, but you don't go in and 1st give the
- 21:37child a lethal injection to make it die in utero.
- 21:41Or you don't chop up the child with forceps, ripping it piece
- 21:44from limb, from torso to destroy that child.
- 21:48You try to deliver the child, you try to do an emergency
- 21:50delivery. And in some cases, you might
- 21:53have to induce labor early, sometimes sometimes even
- 21:56tragically earlier than the baby can survive outside the womb.
- 21:59That is not an abortion. Every abortion procedure is
- 22:03designed to kill the child before birth, before he or she
- 22:07has left his or her mother's body.
- 22:10That's an abortion procedure. Anything else is not an abortion
- 22:14procedure, and the intent of any pro-life obstetrician,
- 22:18gynecologist, any pro-life midwife or nurse is to try to
- 22:21save both, try to care for both. That's how medicine used to be
- 22:25before legalized abortion. The Hippocratic Oath, which is
- 22:28still taken to medical schools, used to include a prohibition on
- 22:32any direct harm to a baby in the womb, any cause of miscarriage,
- 22:37purposely done by a physician. It would prohibit that.
- 22:40We need to go back to that day because the reality is directly
- 22:44destroying the baby, Directly targeting the baby's body for
- 22:47destruction is never a medical treatment.
- 22:50I want to use a couple examples here.
- 22:51First of all, an ectopic, ectopic pregnancy.
- 22:55This is often used as justification for abortion.
- 22:58The reality is removing an ectopic pregnancy, which is when
- 23:01the baby and very early on in the pregnancy finds its home
- 23:07instead of in the uterus. It finds its home either in the
- 23:09fallopian tubes or sometimes in somewhere else in the woman's
- 23:13abdomen, abdomen, so not where the baby belongs.
- 23:16And in those situations, the baby, it's almost always fatal
- 23:19for the baby. It's pretty much always fatal
- 23:21for the mother. That's a hostile environment for
- 23:24the baby in that situation. What's often done, and this is
- 23:28not an abortion procedure, is the part of the fallopian tube
- 23:32where the baby is located, where the baby can't grow, which could
- 23:35burst and cause internal bleeding and kill the mother, is
- 23:38removed with the baby intact. The point there is not to kill
- 23:42the baby, although tragically, the baby will die.
- 23:44The baby will die until we have better medical technology to
- 23:47find a way to save that baby's life.
- 23:48But we haven't developed it yet, maybe because we're too busy
- 23:51aborting everybody. But in that situation, the goal
- 23:54is not to kill the baby. The goal tragically is to, the
- 23:58goal is to to protect the mother.
- 24:00And we'd like to be able to save the baby.
- 24:02But in that situation, you can't.
- 24:04So at least not yet, not with the current level of technology.
- 24:08So that's not an abortion. No, that's not an abortion
- 24:10procedure. Another situation would be if
- 24:14there is a situation where the mother it has preeclampsia and
- 24:18she is suffering and she's not sure if she can deliver the baby
- 24:24properly and she could die. In that situation, an emergency
- 24:28C-section is often used and sometimes it has to be done
- 24:31before the baby is. It can survive and in that
- 24:34situation you wait as much as you can, but tragically, if you
- 24:38have to still try to deliver that baby, you still try to give
- 24:40it a chance. And incredibly, because of
- 24:43medical technology, the just the light, the viability line when a
- 24:47baby can survive outside the womb with medical help is
- 24:51getting further and further pushed back.
- 24:53The latest I believe is 22 weeks.
- 24:55So basically halfway through a pregnancy, that baby can
- 24:58survive. International headlines recently
- 25:00were celebrating a baby from San Diego, this little girl who was
- 25:04born the size less than the size of an apple, and they were
- 25:07thought she would die. And by the way, she was
- 25:09delivered via C-section. And the reason she was was
- 25:12because of health complication that the mother had.
- 25:14But they didn't go in and try to kill the baby first, which is
- 25:17what an abortion procedure does. They didn't try to inject the
- 25:20baby with digoxin, which is basically a chemical that would
- 25:24give her her him cardiac arrest. They didn't RIP the baby apart
- 25:28with forceps. No, they they did AC section and
- 25:31tried to let the baby live. And remarkably, this little girl
- 25:35was a fighter and she lived. And now there's international
- 25:37headlines celebrating her life. She's five months months old and
- 25:41has been released from the hospital with her didn't given
- 25:43back to her family. So point here is abortion is not
- 25:48a medical treatment and thousands there's over 1000
- 25:52medical experts who have agreed with us in the Dublin
- 25:54declaration where they signed on and they said this is the way it
- 25:57is. But because our medical
- 25:59community today is corrupted by abortion and the abortion
- 26:02industry and the money behind it and the politics behind it,
- 26:05doctors are now using the abortion procedure as a shortcut
- 26:09to avoid caring and working to protect both the mother and the
- 26:15baby. So abortion is not a medical
- 26:17treatment. All right, next one.
- 26:20So you probably have heard it said that we need abortions
- 26:24because the child will have serious disabilities.
- 26:29And with this one, I want to quote actually CNN commentator
- 26:34who is named Allison Kamaroda. She's a host on CNN and you
- 26:39know, CNN wonderfully pro-life Network.
- 26:42I'm kidding. CNN is incredibly pro abortion
- 26:45network. I don't know that they have any
- 26:47hosts on CNN like the main channel that are pro-life.
- 26:52They almost, they rarely have pro-life guests once in a while
- 26:55to have someone like Rick Santorum.
- 26:56Thank you, Rick. I'm actually going to talk about
- 26:58him in a minute. I've been on CNNA handful of
- 27:00times. We're always available CNN if
- 27:03you ever want to have somebody with an alternate point of view.
- 27:06Occasionally I get in Twitter battles with CNN hosts about the
- 27:10issue of abortion. They like to tweet back at me
- 27:12with them, but reality is they often don't.
- 27:15They actually don't want to have pro-life guests on their show.
- 27:18So Allison Kamarota, ACNN host, said she's grilling the attorney
- 27:25general of Indiana because he is trying to fight the 7th Circuit
- 27:31Court of Appeals to for the right of Indiana to have a law
- 27:35that they passed and signed. Then Governor Mike Pence signed
- 27:38into law. Indiana had a law that would
- 27:41have prohibited abortions that would be discriminatory.
- 27:44So abortions for the cases of the sex of the baby if it's a
- 27:48girl or boy, abortions in cases of the race of the baby killing
- 27:52the baby because it's the wrong race, or abortions in the case
- 27:54of disability, discriminating against a baby because of their
- 27:58disability. So anyways, the attorney general
- 28:01of Indiana is on the CNN show with Alyssa Camarota, and he's
- 28:05arguing with her, trying to respond to her questions about
- 28:08why this was a good law. And she's, of course, against
- 28:12the law because she loves being in support of abortion.
- 28:16So this is what she says. Camarota from CNN says what I
- 28:20want to focus on is what I want to focus on is where Indiana had
- 28:24tried to block women from getting abortions if it were
- 28:26based on a disability. I'm just curious about that one.
- 28:30Why would you want a family to have a child with a severe
- 28:35disability? So she even calls it a child.
- 28:39Interesting, She said. Why would you want a family to
- 28:42have a child with a severe disability?
- 28:44First of all, listen, Camerota, I don't think anybody wants a
- 28:48child to endure a severe disability.
- 28:51Nobody wants anybody to have a disability, but the reality is
- 28:55some people have disabilities. So then what?
- 28:58Do we kill them? Do we say that they are less
- 29:01than and they should be destroyed before their first
- 29:04breath? No, that is the most violent and
- 29:08extreme form of discrimination and is not just.
- 29:12When I was in high school, I had the privilege of volunteering to
- 29:17hang out and to take care of a little boy.
- 29:19I will call him Jacob because I don't want to use his his real
- 29:23name, but this young boy who had severe cerebral palsy.
- 29:27So he was very intellectually and developmentally challenged.
- 29:32And this little boy was a joy. I could tell that he was living
- 29:38his life to the fullest as he was able to.
- 29:41And it was a privilege for me to spend time with him and to hang
- 29:45out with him and to try to play with him.
- 29:47And never in a million years would I have thought it would
- 29:50have been a cruel thought that he shouldn't exist, that he
- 29:53didn't have dignity, that he, his life wasn't worth it.
- 29:56And I knew from the his family that their family that it was
- 29:59challenging, but that they were blessed with the honor of caring
- 30:03for someone like Jacob. And I say that because children
- 30:07with disabilities, for as long as they're with us, some of them
- 30:10have very short lifespan. Some of them can live just as
- 30:12long as us. And there's a varying degree of
- 30:13disability. Reality is everybody has some
- 30:15kind of disability, right? We all struggle with some
- 30:18imperfection that makes us less able maybe than the next person.
- 30:22But some, of course, have it more extreme than others.
- 30:25And in that situation, whether they're with us for a short time
- 30:28or a long time, they have value. They have the imprint of God in
- 30:33them just like you and I. They have human dignity just
- 30:36like you and I. And they do not deserve death
- 30:39because of their disability. And death is not what's
- 30:42compassionate. If death became what's
- 30:45compassionate for human suffering, then we should
- 30:47celebrate every suicide. If death was what was
- 30:50compassionate for human suffering, then we should create
- 30:53government programs to literally eradicate those that suffer.
- 30:56But it's not death is not what's compassionate for the suffering.
- 31:00Actually, what's compassionate for the suffering is to come
- 31:03alongside to suffer with to celebrate the good in that
- 31:08person. That innate good to try to care,
- 31:11to try to to try to identify with.
- 31:15The solution is never to kill. And that's here what Alyssa
- 31:18Camerota is saying. I mentioned Rick Santorum
- 31:21earlier. I I'm good acquaintances with
- 31:24one of his daughters and she is no longer a Santorum but has a
- 31:29different last name. But anyway, she posted recently
- 31:31on Facebook about this because she was so disturbed to see so
- 31:34many people commenting about how babies with disabilities should
- 31:37be killed because her little sister has a severe disability
- 31:40and her and her name is Bella. So actually I think the
- 31:44Santorums have written a book about Bella's life and she's
- 31:46lived far longer than they said she would live.
- 31:48This beautiful little girl. I think she had her first
- 31:51communion recently. But Bella is a beautiful.
- 31:54Bella is like her name, beautiful.
- 31:56And this friend of mine, one of Rick's daughters, was just
- 32:00saying how she is so grateful for the life of her sister and
- 32:03how dare he they. And how heartbreaking when other
- 32:06people talk down about those with disabilities.
- 32:10One other quick thing to say here as well.
- 32:12Part of this argument is that, well, the baby might die soon
- 32:15after birth, and so therefore we should kill that baby before
- 32:17birth. Two things.
- 32:18First of all, killing that baby before birth is not in any way
- 32:22whatsoever, in any shape, way, shape or form, compassionate
- 32:27killing that baby before birth. I already explained why death is
- 32:29not the answer, but killing that baby before birth is a violent,
- 32:33heinous, torturous act. I dare anybody who supports
- 32:38killing babies before birth who are disabled to actually look at
- 32:42how they are killed, to actually look at the extreme pain that
- 32:46these babies endure because they are literally pierced with
- 32:48needles, injected poisons into their heart or their brain.
- 32:53And they are, they die. Sometimes it takes even up to
- 32:56hours for them to die or they're torn apart limb from torso piece
- 33:01by piece into the most torturous death.
- 33:03And many of these babies are older.
- 33:05These babies are fully pain capable.
- 33:06They're they're old enough to survive outside the womb.
- 33:09So what a horrific. We don't even treat animals that
- 33:11way. We don't even treat dogs.
- 33:13We put to sleep that way. And yet we're literally doing
- 33:16that to babies. The second thing there is
- 33:18though, these children, they deserve the dignity if they're
- 33:22going to die and we're all going to die, we all die at some point
- 33:25or another. I could die tomorrow.
- 33:26We all are going to die. But these babies who have a
- 33:29terminal illness or a terminal diagnosis, they deserve to die
- 33:33in the loving arms of someone who cares for them of, of
- 33:37ideally their mother, their father.
- 33:39They deserve that dignity to be held, to be told that they let,
- 33:43even if they're just with us for 1/2 an hour or an hour.
- 33:46They deserve a death that is 1 where they're surrounded by
- 33:49those that love them, not the death at the hands of an
- 33:52abortionist. All right, next one, you
- 33:56probably heard this one. Safe abortion.
- 33:58We need abortions because if we don't have them, they will be
- 34:03back alley abortions and all these women will have them
- 34:06anyways and they are going to die.
- 34:09All right, so first of all, comment on this that I've heard.
- 34:12I actually read one just before. They don't care about the
- 34:15mother's health because she'll still get an abortion even with
- 34:18the ban. Here's another one until a woman
- 34:22dies from back alley abortions. Glad you're so concerned about
- 34:25Women's Health. Closing healthcare facilities
- 34:28won't stop abortion. It will stop safe abortions.
- 34:31Have at it. My body, my choice.
- 34:33Sit down. All right, well, I am sitting
- 34:35down and I'm going to respond, although I kind of feel like
- 34:38standing up because I've been sitting down too long.
- 34:40But anyways, I'm going to respond.
- 34:42So first of all, the research on this is clear.
- 34:45There is no evidence that making abortion illegal is going to
- 34:49mean the same amount of abortion, but they're all in the
- 34:51back alley. In fact, the Washington Post,
- 34:55which is not a very pro-life News Group, actually pro
- 34:58abortion, just did a fact checker on the head of Planned
- 35:03Parenthood, Leanna Wen, saying that they would give her four
- 35:07Pinocchios. Which means she's basically
- 35:10lying when she said that there would be thousands of deaths
- 35:14after abortion is made illegal because of back alley abortions.
- 35:19And the Washington Post is saying there's no evidence of
- 35:20this. This is not what happened before
- 35:22Roe V Wade. If anything, there were maybe
- 35:24hundreds. It's even hard to detect how
- 35:26many then, but it's not in the thousands.
- 35:30The reality is in countries where abortion is banned, people
- 35:35have less abortions. The studies and the research has
- 35:38been done on this. Live Action has been reporting
- 35:41on this. In countries where abortion is
- 35:43almost completely banned, except for very rare cases, the
- 35:47abortion rate is 5%. The abortion rate in countries
- 35:53where abortion is legalized and where there is abortion on
- 35:57demand 5% And it makes sense because after Roe V Wade,
- 36:01abortion rate skyrocketed in the United States.
- 36:05So the reality is when abortion is made unavailable, when all of
- 36:10a sudden society changes and says, look, abortion is not a
- 36:13solution. If you are facing financial
- 36:16insecurities or your boyfriend is threatening you or you are
- 36:21feeling afraid there's better options, abortion is not the
- 36:25answer. And we as a society focus on
- 36:28those other options instead of saying your body, your choice,
- 36:32abortion is the way to go. That is the key here.
- 36:37The reality is very few women are going to, and this is what
- 36:41the research indicates are going to the back alley.
- 36:45And the reality is today, there are already back alleys in
- 36:48America. They're just legal.
- 36:51For example, Kermit Gosnell, you may have heard of this
- 36:54abortionist from Philadelphia who's now a convicted murder,
- 36:57which is very rare for an abortionist.
- 36:59All of them should be convicted for murder, but this one is one
- 37:01of the only ones. He was running basically a back
- 37:04alley, front alley legal abortion facility where he had
- 37:09blood on the walls, unsafe standards.
- 37:13Women actually died in his facility because of poorly
- 37:16trained staff. He had babies, body parts in his
- 37:20refrigerator left to rot. I mean really horrific
- 37:23conditions and women died as well as of course babies.
- 37:27And he was convicted of murder because he actually killed
- 37:29babies after they were born alive after failed abortion,
- 37:33abortion attempts, which is absolutely horrific.
- 37:35And another thing that happens in some abortion clinics across
- 37:38the country, Many Planned Parenthoods have had really bad
- 37:42health and safety reports, even though they're legal.
- 37:45For example, the Planned Parenthood, that's the only
- 37:48remaining one in Missouri. You may have heard the news.
- 37:50It's going to shut down and there'll be no more abortion
- 37:52clinics in Missouri. How terrible, How great.
- 37:54Actually, Missouri will be safer for women and children.
- 37:57But Planned Parenthood, the reason that they were going to
- 37:59be shut down is because they failed to comply with multiple
- 38:03safety and health standards step by the set by the state health
- 38:07department and that included properly disposing of needles.
- 38:11They were double using or reusing one time use
- 38:15injectables. They were not training their
- 38:18staff on how to deal with infection.
- 38:20They were not complying with health investigators when they
- 38:24were trying to actually interview the doctors that they
- 38:27used at the facility. So the reality is this idea that
- 38:32it's going to be back alley, well, already abortionists are
- 38:35running chop shops, which are always unsafe for babies,
- 38:38whether they're front alley and legal or back alley and illegal.
- 38:41And the reality is when the laws change, it helps change cultural
- 38:47opinion and it helps influence behavior.
- 38:50Before seat belt laws passed, a lot of people didn't wear
- 38:53seatbelts. Now that seat belt laws have
- 38:55passed, most people wear seatbelts.
- 38:58Before smoking prohibitions existed, a lot more people
- 39:02smoked. After smoking prohibitions
- 39:05existed, or they were prevented in certain parts, inside homes
- 39:10or in hospitals, less people smoke.
- 39:13Laws impact behavior, and they absolutely will.
- 39:16For the better. For the sake of these children
- 39:18and for the sake of what's best for women, girls and families
- 39:22when abortion is made illegal. All right, we've got one more to
- 39:27go. This one is kind of, in some
- 39:31ways, I don't know, almost one of the most ironic ones I hear.
- 39:36This is a comment of this one about why men aren't allowed to
- 39:39speak. This is from a comment on social
- 39:42media, from Facebook. I still don't understand how men
- 39:46actually think that they can impose their opinions when it
- 39:49comes to abortion. This has nothing to do with you.
- 39:51So shut up. All right, First of all, if
- 39:54you're a guy who's listening, thank you.
- 39:56If you haven't shut up about abortion, thank you.
- 39:59If you have spoken out, we need the voice of men.
- 40:02All right, why? First of all, I, I, I do need to
- 40:06point out it's been kind of funny, maybe sad funny, if
- 40:10that's the thing. It's been sad, funny to see.
- 40:13How all these celebrities online like on Twitter and these
- 40:19commentators and feminists have said, men, where are you speak
- 40:23out now to defend women's rights to an abortion?
- 40:28And those same people might have been saying six months ago or a
- 40:30year or six years ago, men have no stay in this discussion, no
- 40:34uterus, no opinion. So it's kind of ironic the other
- 40:38saying, men say you're pro abortion because every single
- 40:42child that's in danger of an abortion has a father.
- 40:46Every single child has a father before birth and after and
- 40:52where's that father? We need men.
- 40:55We need men to speak out because they are fathers.
- 40:58We need men to speak out because they are defenders.
- 41:01I think men are protectors. I think men have a tremendous
- 41:04role in the pro-life movement. Half of the children who are
- 41:07aborted are little boys. So this is not a women's issue.
- 41:12This is a human rights issue. This is a human issue.
- 41:16And we need everybody to speak up.
- 41:18Nobody is disqualified. Everybody's voice counts.
- 41:22If I just said, you know, if it was a situation like murder, if
- 41:27you haven't experienced murder, you're not allowed to speak out
- 41:30against it. I mean, obviously that's
- 41:32ridiculous. You'd be dead.
- 41:33Or if you haven't experienced X, you're not allowed to speak out
- 41:38against it. I mean, imagine during the time
- 41:40of slavery, if you don't own slaves or if you can't own a
- 41:43slave, you have no right to speak out against it.
- 41:45How ridiculous. It is our duty, I think, and our
- 41:49responsibility for all of us to use our voice, to use our
- 41:53privilege, to use the freedom and the life, the lives that
- 41:56we've been given to speak out. And that's why the pro-life
- 41:59movement is growing and there's so many people in it and it's so
- 42:01diverse. Men, women, young people, all
- 42:04different ages, all different backgrounds.
- 42:06A lot of Democrats who feel like they're completely abandoned by
- 42:08their party. Obviously a ton of Republicans,
- 42:10independents, libertarians, people of all different faith
- 42:13backgrounds, a lot of people of faith, a lot of Christians and
- 42:16Catholics, evangelicals, But people from all different
- 42:18backgrounds, people who are non religious people are joining the
- 42:21movement because they see this is a human rights issue.
- 42:25So if you're a man and you've been told to shut up, don't
- 42:29listen. We need your voice.
- 42:31We need you to speak. All right?
- 42:34I hope that all of these this run through these six things.
- 42:38So we just ran through the baby will have a terrible life in
- 42:41foster care. We talked about rape and incest.
- 42:43The mother's life is in danger. We talked about what about
- 42:46disability? We talked about safe abortions
- 42:49versus back alley. And then we talked about men
- 42:52shouldn't be allowed to speak. I hope running through this was
