- 0:25Speaker 1: difference in their local communities. Now, sit back and listen
- 0:29Speaker 1: as we unlock the secrets to their success on Money
- 0:32Speaker 1: Making Conversations Masterclass. My guest has been instrumental and providing
- 0:37Speaker 1: resources that help individuals make inform financial decisions, optimize their resources,
- 0:43Speaker 1: and develop healthy financial habits. Under her leadership, Grow Give
- 0:49Speaker 1: Prosper as partnered with in partnered with initiatives like grow
- 0:53Speaker 1: with Google to offer certification scholarships aiming to enhance career
- 0:58Speaker 1: opportunities for under serve communities. Please work with the Money
- 1:02Speaker 1: Making Conversation massaclat Cassandra Lester. How you doing, Cassandra, I'm doing.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Swell, Rashaan, how are you pretty good?
- 1:09Speaker 1: Now? Let's get this. Give us the name of your
- 1:13Speaker 1: is it a nonprofit?
- 1:14Speaker 2: It is a nonprofit, Grow Give prosper.
- 1:17Speaker 1: How did you come up with that name, you know.
- 1:19Speaker 2: What, actually, because that's what I want to see my
- 1:23Speaker 2: community do. I want us to grow together so that
- 1:27Speaker 2: we can give to each other and then prosper as
- 1:29Speaker 2: a collective. So that's how I came up with that name.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Of how long you long have you had the foundation?
- 1:35Speaker 2: I have been in the financial education since about twenty
- 1:40Speaker 2: seventeen and I started the nonprofit of twenty twenty three.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Okay, cool, so you said financial education. Can you give
- 1:47Speaker 1: us a little of your background from a financial literacy
- 1:50Speaker 1: standpoint before we get into the interview.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Okay, sure. So it all started when I was a
- 1:57Speaker 2: human resource and off manager at a very prominent medical
- 2:03Speaker 2: facility here in the state of Georgia. And one thing
- 2:05Speaker 2: I noticed, from the people who had the PhDs to
- 2:09Speaker 2: the ones who had the GEDs, every time we sat
- 2:12Speaker 2: down to do that tax paperwork, it leveled the playing field.
- 2:15Speaker 2: So that's when I realized that financial education doesn't matter
- 2:20Speaker 2: who you are, what you look like. It's a matter
- 2:23Speaker 2: of accessibility.
- 2:25Speaker 1: I want to tell you, so, I have a math degree, Cassandra,
- 2:29Speaker 1: I am scared to death to do my taxes. I
- 2:32Speaker 1: have never in my life the easy form nothing I've
- 2:35Speaker 1: always paid somebody to do my taxes. So when you
- 2:38Speaker 1: say level the playfield you're talking about Rishan McDonald, I
- 2:41Speaker 1: am a person. Go can you do my taxes please?
- 2:44Speaker 1: Because I'm confused. So let's talk about you and what
- 2:47Speaker 1: you're trying to do. When you say the word community,
- 2:51Speaker 1: what do you mean when you are whole you or
- 2:53Speaker 1: referencing When you say the word community.
- 2:55Speaker 2: A community, I'm talking about the people that I encounter
- 2:59Speaker 2: in my daily life walking outside, going to the grocery store,
- 3:03Speaker 2: going to the restaurant, going to the library. You know,
- 3:07Speaker 2: in my traditional nine to five. These are people who
- 3:10Speaker 2: I consider a part of my community. And what I
- 3:14Speaker 2: realized is that, like I mentioned before, it didn't matter
- 3:18Speaker 2: what their background was. We all had the same struggle
- 3:22Speaker 2: and the difference was that nobody was talking about it.
- 3:26Speaker 2: So to me, community is just everybody who has the
- 3:30Speaker 2: same need that needs to get that outreach and to
- 3:34Speaker 2: get that education.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Now, if you're not, if you got like halfway listening
- 3:41Speaker 1: to the show, I want you to stop and focus
- 3:44Speaker 1: on the show because this is the reason, one of
- 3:47Speaker 1: the many reasons I brought her on the show for
- 3:49Speaker 1: this interview. Her partnership with Grow with Google. That's the
- 3:53Speaker 1: name of it. Grow with Google. Now, Google is what
- 3:57Speaker 1: we're about to concentrate on and what they're doing with
- 4:00Speaker 1: your foundation. Talk to us about what is Grow with Google.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Grow with Google is a tremendous outreach initiative that Google
- 4:12Speaker 2: has delivered to community partners like myself, where we are
- 4:18Speaker 2: delivering career certification scholarships to any and everyone who wants it,
- 4:26Speaker 2: specifically justice impacted, specifically economically impacted communities that may not
- 4:33Speaker 2: have access to that level of education due to financial restraints.
- 4:40Speaker 2: So Google is now saying that, hey, we want to
- 4:43Speaker 2: give you a chance to thrive to So we're going
- 4:46Speaker 2: to give you a chance to get a career certification
- 4:49Speaker 2: entry level into cybersecurity, data analytics, digital marketing, e commerce,
- 4:57Speaker 2: IT support, project management, UX design, which is user design,
- 5:03Speaker 2: which is those apps and websites. So Google is now
- 5:07Speaker 2: leveling the playing field. They're saying, you don't have to
- 5:09Speaker 2: have an IVY League education in order to make an
- 5:13Speaker 2: earnable a livable wage.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Now that's be on livable wage. I'm gonna just let
- 5:18Speaker 1: everybody know that. Just go to the Internet, Google or
- 5:22Speaker 1: indeed and Google salaries of all the job titles that
- 5:26Speaker 1: she listed. You'll see that these are game changing opportunities
- 5:31Speaker 1: that this foundation that Cassandra Lester created, that it's partner
- 5:36Speaker 1: with Google. And I want to hang on this for
- 5:38Speaker 1: a minute because I don't want to blow past it,
- 5:39Speaker 1: because I want people to be able to reach out
- 5:41Speaker 1: to you. Do you have a website that they can visit?
- 5:45Speaker 2: Certainly if they go to grow with I'm sorry, Grow
- 5:49Speaker 2: give prosper dot org and scroll to the bottom. You're
- 5:53Speaker 2: gonna see the Google scholarship link and the barrier to
- 5:57Speaker 2: entry is very low. We don't want to make a different.
- 6:00Speaker 2: If you have a commitment to yourself and if you
- 6:04Speaker 2: want to increase your earning potential, all you have to
- 6:07Speaker 2: do in the state of Georgia, no matter where you're located,
- 6:10Speaker 2: is go to this website, Grow Give prosper dot org,
- 6:14Speaker 2: scroll to the bottom Google Certifications, read the information. If
- 6:18Speaker 2: it's what you want for yourself, then enroll and Coursera
- 6:23Speaker 2: is going to send you the link and you can
- 6:25Speaker 2: start learning today.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Now, let's do go over those job opportunities that are
- 6:30Speaker 1: available on your website.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Okay, so cybersecurity, data analytics, digital marketing, and e commerce
- 6:40Speaker 2: and this I kind of want to just really touch
- 6:42Speaker 2: on them really quickly. Digital markets.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Please do slow it down because I want people to
- 6:46Speaker 1: understand that, you know. And let me also say this.
- 6:50Speaker 1: You say the word scholarship. Oh yeah. Is there a fee?
- 6:53Speaker 2: No fee, There's no fee. The only fee is that
- 6:56Speaker 2: you have to commit to doing it because we have
- 6:58Speaker 2: to give a you know, data at the end of
- 7:01Speaker 2: the program, which, by the way, was scheduled to end
- 7:04Speaker 2: in December twenty twenty five, and Google has extended it
- 7:07Speaker 2: to December twenty twenty six. So since these courses take
- 7:12Speaker 2: three to six months to complete, you have a chance
- 7:14Speaker 2: to go in and roll and get several certifications between
- 7:18Speaker 2: now and December twenty twenty fifth.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Would you give you several or job opportunities to go
- 7:26Speaker 1: out there and get in the game, as we say,
- 7:28Speaker 1: get the game and not get left out. And this
- 7:31Speaker 1: is somebody who may be working a blue college, blue
- 7:34Speaker 1: collar job, somebody who may be just have a ged
- 7:39Speaker 1: somebody who may have a two year degree. This level
- 7:41Speaker 1: is the plan field for anybody that these scholarships that's
- 7:45Speaker 1: being offered through your foundation through Google. And you're saying, Richard,
- 7:50Speaker 1: there's no charge. It's based on if you sign up,
- 7:53Speaker 1: please compete it. Please don't just sign up to be
- 7:56Speaker 1: signed up for the first time in your life. Make
- 7:58Speaker 1: an effort to complete something that can change your life both.
- 8:02Speaker 1: You know, I'm sure I have a college degree on
- 8:04Speaker 1: my wall, or math degree, and I always tell people
- 8:07Speaker 1: you can't repoll that degree, which means you can't take that.
- 8:09Speaker 1: But well, once it's on that wall, you can't take
- 8:11Speaker 1: it back. And it's not like a car, it's like
- 8:14Speaker 1: a house. Once you've been certified a degree, that's yours
- 8:18Speaker 1: for life, and it also gives you a sense of
- 8:21Speaker 1: empowerment that you can change your life and the surroundings
- 8:24Speaker 1: around you. So you going to give us more detail
- 8:27Speaker 1: on each one of these job titles that we're doing
- 8:29Speaker 1: with I'm talking with Cassandra Lester. Give us your foundation
- 8:33Speaker 1: one more time and your website.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Okay, Growth Gift Prosper and the website is growthgiftprosper dot org.
- 8:39Speaker 2: And I'm going to dive into what Google certifications are
- 8:42Speaker 2: currently available. We have cybersecurity. You know, if you're the
- 8:47Speaker 2: kind of person who wants to be the you know, savior,
- 8:51Speaker 2: you want to be able to come in and you know,
- 8:53Speaker 2: throward all of these. I think we just heard a
- 8:55Speaker 2: couple of days ago about a cyber attack that happened,
- 8:58Speaker 2: you know, I think it was in the city of Atlanta.
- 9:00Speaker 2: So if you want to be the kind of person
- 9:01Speaker 2: who can recognize these attacks before they happen, cybersecurity is
- 9:05Speaker 2: a great field for you to get into data analytics.
- 9:09Speaker 2: If you want to tell businesses what's trending, where they
- 9:12Speaker 2: can find the money. Data analytics is for you. Digital
- 9:16Speaker 2: marketing and e commerce. We're all over the website. We're
- 9:19Speaker 2: all out here shopping online. Digital marketing and e commerce.
- 9:23Speaker 2: That's gonna tell you. You know previously where I said
- 9:26Speaker 2: you're going to show the businesses where the money where
- 9:29Speaker 2: you are the one that's making the money. You are
- 9:31Speaker 2: putting your product or products for other people online and
- 9:35Speaker 2: making it avail and making it available for them to
- 9:37Speaker 2: purchase it. Support so you can stack it support with cybersecurity.
- 9:43Speaker 2: You are providing daily maintenance to laptops, phones, computers. It
- 9:49Speaker 2: support project management. Now, when I mentioned that you can
- 9:54Speaker 2: get several certifications, these are certifications that you can stack.
- 9:59Speaker 2: So can you imagine stacking project management with a data
- 10:03Speaker 2: analytics certification? And then finally ux design. So when I
- 10:10Speaker 2: say that it may sound Greek to a lot of people,
- 10:13Speaker 2: but think about it. These apps, Instagram, all the websites
- 10:17Speaker 2: that you go to. UX design means user experience design.
- 10:22Speaker 2: You're designing the experience that the person who's on that
- 10:26Speaker 2: app is using. So I remember one time with my
- 10:30Speaker 2: baking app, I had an issue with getting my password.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Every time I would log out to get the password
- 10:36Speaker 2: and come back in, the app would close. Somebody saw
- 10:39Speaker 2: that and they fixed it. So that's what that user
- 10:42Speaker 2: experience design. Along that line, that's what you would be learning.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Now let's ask you this, Sandra Cassandra. First of all,
- 10:50Speaker 1: thank you for coming on Money Making Conversation Masterclass. How
- 10:53Speaker 1: have you been This sounds like a program or your
- 10:56Speaker 1: proumdation seems to be locked into Google and provide dream
- 11:01Speaker 1: like opportunities for people who can get these scholarships by
- 11:05Speaker 1: going onto your website. How are you promoting this or
- 11:08Speaker 1: how are you spreading the word?
- 11:11Speaker 2: Mister rashand you know I'm country, mister rashand I am
- 11:14Speaker 2: boats on the ground. We are out here, grassroots. We
- 11:17Speaker 2: are going to every community center that's local. We are
- 11:23Speaker 2: going to the adult education classes. I am on social
- 11:27Speaker 2: media pushing this information out. I mean any and everybody
- 11:31Speaker 2: that will hear me. I'm trying to shout it from
- 11:33Speaker 2: the grooftops to let them know you don't want to
- 11:35Speaker 2: miss this.
- 11:36Speaker 1: You don't want to.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Miss this opportunity to increase your earning potential. So I'm
- 11:41Speaker 2: literally out here getting in my car I call a Pearl,
- 11:45Speaker 2: Me and Pearl driving up and down these highways, trying
- 11:47Speaker 2: to get to every adult education class that we can
- 11:49Speaker 2: get to to tell these folks you need to sign.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Up, okay before we talking about the classes you're seeing.
- 11:55Speaker 1: So if someone in New York, someone in Chicago, someone
- 11:58Speaker 1: in Los Angeles, someone in use to their dollars, they
- 12:01Speaker 1: can register.
- 12:02Speaker 2: They can. You have to be Continental US. And you know,
- 12:06Speaker 2: of course Google is gonna know if you're logging in
- 12:08Speaker 2: from outside the US. But Continental US and what I
- 12:12Speaker 2: tell you, they were generous, Like I gave myself a
- 12:15Speaker 2: pat on the back because I wrote that letter. Do
- 12:17Speaker 2: you hear me? They gave me over three hundred scholarships,
- 12:21Speaker 2: so I'm ready to deliver it to the community.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Okay, cool, listen, So you have three other scholarships available, yes, nationwide, Yes,
- 12:30Speaker 1: all individuals can do that. No, charge Jesus scholarships correct
- 12:35Speaker 1: three to six months worth for online training, but opportunity
- 12:40Speaker 1: to change your life. Your life and you're doing the
- 12:43Speaker 1: boots on the ground. Now you don't money, make conversations
- 12:45Speaker 1: master class. Now we're about to We're going worldwide with you,
- 12:49Speaker 1: domestic US, Continental, USA, opportunities to register. Now, let's talk
- 12:55Speaker 1: about you, said Rashelle, You and Perl that's the name
- 12:58Speaker 1: of her vehicle going up and down road. When you
- 13:01Speaker 1: go in these classes, what has been the reaction or
- 13:03Speaker 1: have you been disappointed in the reaction.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Actually, I am being well received. The program is being
- 13:10Speaker 2: well received. The thing about it is that you are
- 13:13Speaker 2: changing I'm changing minds. People are, you know, thinking that
- 13:17Speaker 2: I'll never be able to get out of the situation.
- 13:20Speaker 2: I'm robbing Peter to pay Paul And when they realized
- 13:24Speaker 2: that you have an opportunity, and what I wanted to
- 13:27Speaker 2: do was be credible. So I did some vetting on
- 13:30Speaker 2: the back end and I asked people who are in
- 13:33Speaker 2: hiring positions in it. Would you hire somebody with a
- 13:38Speaker 2: GED and a Google certification. A couple of people told
- 13:41Speaker 2: me who graduated college with a master's degree, He said
- 13:46Speaker 2: they lost out on their first job because they didn't
- 13:50Speaker 2: have a certification to a person who did. So it's valid.
- 13:54Speaker 2: It's legitimate, and the people that I meet, they are overjoyed.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Some of them might be a little skeptical at first,
- 14:01Speaker 2: but once they realized that it's legitimate. I initially had
- 14:06Speaker 2: about five hundred scholarships, so we've had so many people
- 14:11Speaker 2: to enroll that now that number has went down.
- 14:15Speaker 1: To three hundred. Come on, girl, gid you said a
- 14:17Speaker 1: Ronald Bloyd. That's two hundred potential people. You've changed lives.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Please don't go anywhere.
- 14:23Speaker 3: We'll be right back with more Money Making Conversations Masterclass.
- 14:32Speaker 3: Welcome back to the Money Making Conversations Masterclass hosted by
- 14:36Speaker 3: Rashan McDonald.
- 14:38Speaker 1: But their opportunities like you are being able to mind,
- 14:42Speaker 1: you are being able to create that have been brought
- 14:46Speaker 1: into our community that is leveling the playing field, and
- 14:50Speaker 1: by earning this opportunity to get certified, that they can
- 14:54Speaker 1: get a job, a career, a career. Thank you very much.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Excuse me for saying that. Now, let's talk about a
- 15:01Speaker 1: little bit more about you, because I wanted to get
- 15:04Speaker 1: that out at the top of the conversation because I
- 15:06Speaker 1: want the people to hear exactly the opportunity that your
- 15:10Speaker 1: foundation brings to the table and is changing lives. The
- 15:13Speaker 1: importance of financial literacy, that's a financial literacy is a
- 15:19Speaker 1: huge buzzword in the community. What does financial literacy mean
- 15:23Speaker 1: to you?
- 15:24Speaker 2: Financial literacy means to me that you understand the words,
- 15:29Speaker 2: You hear the conversation and it's not Greek to you.
- 15:32Speaker 2: You have tools that you can use to manage your
- 15:36Speaker 2: expenses on a daily basis, that you understand how this
- 15:40Speaker 2: applies to you. I heard a song from one of
- 15:45Speaker 2: our famous young female rappers who says that she doesn't
- 15:49Speaker 2: give an f about a credit score. I'm sure she's
- 15:52Speaker 2: changed her mind since then because she's realized. She's realized
- 15:57Speaker 2: that you better care about that credit score. That's going
- 16:00Speaker 2: to make the difference in your borrowing potential and how
- 16:03Speaker 2: much money you have to pay back. So financial literacy
- 16:07Speaker 2: means that we understand the conversation and we know what
- 16:10Speaker 2: it means and how it applies to our daily life.
- 16:14Speaker 1: So what's a misconception, Like you said, you have a
- 16:16Speaker 1: rapper out there talking to the generation of people telling
- 16:20Speaker 1: them don't care about the credits cade what you and
- 16:22Speaker 1: I know that's a value. That's a value proposition. To
- 16:26Speaker 1: have your credits code anywhere above seven hundred, you get
- 16:29Speaker 1: in an eight hundred you and as they say, platinum,
- 16:32Speaker 1: platinum zone. There. Absolutely I'm talking to Cassandra Lester her
- 16:36Speaker 1: foundation Grow excuse me, Grow Give prosper as partner with
- 16:41Speaker 1: initiatives like Grow with Google to offer certifications, scholarships aim
- 16:45Speaker 1: to enhance career opportunities for underserved communities. So would you
- 16:50Speaker 1: say that's your that's your mission.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Absolutely, yes, it is. That's my mission. And a lot
- 16:58Speaker 2: of people know me. They kind of because I'll go
- 17:00Speaker 2: off on a tangent in a minute, you know, I'll
- 17:02Speaker 2: start talking about you know, protection, I'll start talking about
- 17:06Speaker 2: ways to increase your earning potential. Well, first of all,
- 17:09Speaker 2: I'm passionate. I don't go I do workshops twice a month,
- 17:14Speaker 2: and when I go into these workshops, I'm not just
- 17:17Speaker 2: doing a lecture. I'm really connecting with my audience and
- 17:20Speaker 2: I want them to feel why I'm so passionate behind it.
- 17:24Speaker 2: I do workshops twice a month, and when I go
- 17:27Speaker 2: into these workshops, I'm not just doing a lecture. I'm
- 17:30Speaker 2: really connecting with my audience and I want them to
- 17:33Speaker 2: feel why I'm so passionate behind it. So I'm not
- 17:37Speaker 2: just sitting up there reading a paper. I'm really talking
- 17:39Speaker 2: to my audience. I'm asking them questions, you know. And
- 17:42Speaker 2: the green doesn't hurt, but definitely left. And I left
- 17:47Speaker 2: out of one workshop and I was like, dang, I
- 17:49Speaker 2: feel like I was in the poolpit because I really
- 17:52Speaker 2: engage with my community partners when they invite me into
- 17:56Speaker 2: these sessions. I talk to these people like their life
- 17:58Speaker 2: depends on it.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Well, you know, I'm going to tell you something. I
- 18:03Speaker 1: want to come to one of your sessions. I want
- 18:05Speaker 1: to be with you one time because I am all
- 18:08Speaker 1: about changing people's lives. And this is not I'm not
- 18:12Speaker 1: charging you anything. This is money making Conversations masterclass. All
- 18:16Speaker 1: it's all about if I can use my brand like
- 18:18Speaker 1: I'm using my brand of this show to let everybody
- 18:21Speaker 1: know about these career changing opportunities with these Google scholarships,
- 18:26Speaker 1: and all they have to do is visit your website
- 18:28Speaker 1: to register. They have a time commitment three to six months,
- 18:32Speaker 1: because each certification or scholarship has a time period of
- 18:36Speaker 1: commitment you have to do to become qualified and earn
- 18:39Speaker 1: the scholarships that's what we're talking about, and I'm just
- 18:43Speaker 1: talking to everybody in general. This is not tied to
- 18:45Speaker 1: a degree person. This is not tied to a person
- 18:48Speaker 1: who feels there they can't qualify. If you have a ged,
- 18:52Speaker 1: if you ever, if you didn't finish draw college, drop out,
- 18:56Speaker 1: the high school graduate, anybody who's doing a job that
- 19:00Speaker 1: you're not happy with this interview is something. Or you
- 19:03Speaker 1: have a relative, it's your husband, your wife, your partner,
- 19:07Speaker 1: your son, your daughter, your cousin, your nephew. Tell them, look,
- 19:11Speaker 1: don't give up. If you want to change your life,
- 19:15Speaker 1: that's what your foundation is all about, and that's what
- 19:18Speaker 1: you're doing. You're trying to really get them into the
- 19:21Speaker 1: financial literacy conversation, correct, Cassandra, I am.
- 19:25Speaker 2: I am, Because we lose so much money doing you know,
- 19:28Speaker 2: going to predatory lending options. So it's a vicious cycle
- 19:32Speaker 2: once you get in. But once you understand where you
- 19:35Speaker 2: went wrong or where you have been misled, then you
- 19:38Speaker 2: can understand where you need to make those corrections and
- 19:40Speaker 2: move forward toward a more positive outcome.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Well, you know the thing about it is that just
- 19:47Speaker 1: because you want to do good does not mean everybody
- 19:50Speaker 1: want you to do good a position you to do good.
- 19:54Speaker 1: It's Andrew. You know, I've been frustrated in my life
- 19:57Speaker 1: because I try to bring individuals like you on on
- 20:00Speaker 1: my show. I'm pretty sure you're cheerleader for change. Tell
- 20:07Speaker 1: us some of the roadblocks that you've had to hop over,
- 20:11Speaker 1: going around, or in fact run over to have an
- 20:14Speaker 1: interview like this on this show. Wow.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Some of the roadblocks just encountering people who minimize the
- 20:24Speaker 2: impact of obtaining financial literacy. And the very first workshop
- 20:31Speaker 2: I held, I asked them, why don't you want to
- 20:34Speaker 2: talk about this? And a couple of them, I don't
- 20:37Speaker 2: want you in my pocket. This is my business. You
- 20:40Speaker 2: know what you're talking about ain't gonna help me. And
- 20:44Speaker 2: then also just you know, the community as a whole,
- 20:47Speaker 2: certain demographics don't like to talk about money. They feel
- 20:52Speaker 2: like it's intrusive. And then also because I am a
- 20:56Speaker 2: small nonprofit, a lot of times I'm not taking seriously
- 21:00Speaker 2: by some of the bigger ones. I remember one time
- 21:02Speaker 2: I went to apply for a grant and I saw
- 21:05Speaker 2: one of my constituents apply for the same grant and
- 21:10Speaker 2: they got the grant and they told me, oh, sorry,
- 21:12Speaker 2: we don't do that. And I was like, but I
- 21:14Speaker 2: just saying you'll give her like ten thousand dollars, so
- 21:20Speaker 2: you know, but despite it all, and I'm gonna tell
- 21:22Speaker 2: you something. I quit every day and then I'll get
- 21:26Speaker 2: a phone calls like, mister Sandra, are you coming to
- 21:28Speaker 2: the center this weekend?
- 21:29Speaker 1: Are you coming on Saturday?
- 21:30Speaker 2: Okay, I'll be back down there.
- 21:34Speaker 1: I know the frustration, gleader. That's why I'm offering you.
- 21:37Speaker 1: I'm very serious about that. You you let me know,
- 21:40Speaker 1: and I'm gonna put it into my accounts and I'm
- 21:41Speaker 1: gonna come down because it don't take me long to preach,
- 21:44Speaker 1: and then it will will not take me long to
- 21:46Speaker 1: be able to tell these people this side all things.
- 21:48Speaker 1: In my degree in math manager, my minder was in
- 21:50Speaker 1: sociology and computer science, so I'm a computer juesusiene nerd
- 21:55Speaker 1: I were in college. I almost went and got my
- 21:57Speaker 1: degree in mis management information system. So I've always been
- 22:02Speaker 1: a person that's aware of data management and data security. Now,
- 22:07Speaker 1: with that being said, let's tell everybody. Google didn't come
- 22:12Speaker 1: to you.
- 22:13Speaker 2: The relationship started because I'm out here for my people.
- 22:16Speaker 2: You know, you have a person that understands how important
- 22:19Speaker 2: this is. And even though some people may not quite
- 22:21Speaker 2: get it yet, that's not going to stop me from
- 22:23Speaker 2: trying to get stuff that's going to be good for them.
- 22:26Speaker 2: So I actually was using Google for a different capacity,
- 22:31Speaker 2: and then I was on a webinar and they were
- 22:35Speaker 2: just talking about some of the other products that were
- 22:37Speaker 2: offered and they, you know, it's certain requirements that had
- 22:40Speaker 2: to be met, and they were like, if you want
- 22:42Speaker 2: to offer these scholarships to your community to help your
- 22:47Speaker 2: community increase their earning potential. And I'm going to repeat
- 22:50Speaker 2: something that I said earlier, Justice impacted communities, low income communities.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Google is intentionally looking to see these communities to give
- 23:02Speaker 2: them an opportunity to level up if you will. So
- 23:05Speaker 2: once I heard that, I said, this is what we need,
- 23:08Speaker 2: you know, because you can't talk about managing finances if
- 23:13Speaker 2: you really don't have anything coming in. You know, it's possible,
- 23:17Speaker 2: but ultimately being able to earn a living is the
- 23:21Speaker 2: first pillar in financial literacy increasing your earning potential. So
- 23:27Speaker 2: when I heard that that wasn't an opportunity, I jumped
- 23:30Speaker 2: on it. I you know, like I was obsessed.
- 23:33Speaker 1: I was.
- 23:34Speaker 2: I wrote three, four or five different you know pitches,
- 23:37Speaker 2: and finally I settled on one. I submitted it and
- 23:40Speaker 2: it seemed like forever getting a word back. And then
- 23:43Speaker 2: when I got the word back, they were like, you're
- 23:45Speaker 2: approved and you know, this is what and this is
- 23:47Speaker 2: how it goes and good luck. And I was like, wow,
- 23:50Speaker 2: thank you, you.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Know well, thank you, thank you for coming on my show.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Thank you for being honest about your journey and the
- 23:59Speaker 1: fact that you are giving five hundred scholarships Google scholarships.

- 24:20Speaker 1: only comes to effort. Praise only comes through relationships and mentoring.
- 24:24Speaker 1: And that's what I want to do to mentor you.
- 24:27Speaker 1: That's why I want to give you my time personally
- 24:30Speaker 1: to try to get the word out. But again, as
- 24:33Speaker 1: we close the show, tell everybody about your initiative that
