Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Direct from Hollywood with Ryan Seacrest. Surfaces, who blew up
- 0:04Speaker 1: last year with their global hit Sunday Best, are pure
- 0:06Speaker 1: blooded Texas boys, although people don't often think that when
- 0:09Speaker 1: they hear their music. In fact, they're often mistaken for
- 0:11Speaker 1: being from California thanks to their tunes easy going to
- 0:14Speaker 1: beachy vibes, but the duo says if you listen closely,
- 0:17Speaker 1: you'll hear Texas in their music. Colin from Surfaces explains
- 0:21Speaker 1: to songwriter Universe, we grew up around a lot of
- 0:24Speaker 1: country music in Texas. The one thing we got from
- 0:26Speaker 1: that was that country revolves around big hooks, so that
- 0:29Speaker 1: influenced our song. Obviously, once we had the beats, melody
- 0:32Speaker 1: and the instrumentation down, we wanted to grab that big
- 0:35Speaker 1: hook and make people remember it and feel it. So
- 0:38Speaker 1: country definitely rubbed off on us. You can hear the
- 0:40Speaker 1: influence in their latest, the summer centric Wave of You,
- 0:43Speaker 1: which is out now. That's Direct from Hollywood
