- 0:00Speaker 1: My next guests. As an award show called The Truth
- 0:04Speaker 1: Playmakers is the only African American youth award show that
- 0:08Speaker 1: is founded and produced by African American youth youth. Is
- 0:11Speaker 1: based in Atlanta, Georgia. I have on the phone the
- 0:14Speaker 1: founder of The Truth Playmaker Awards. Please welcome to the
- 0:18Speaker 1: Money Making Conversation, Kristen Jones. Christine. Did they get away? Mr? Jones?
- 0:24Speaker 1: Yes you did. Mr Sean, thank you, pretty good show.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I appreciate you articulating so well. Now tell me about
- 0:31Speaker 1: this award show. It happened yesterday, correct, at the at
- 0:35Speaker 1: the gathering spot. Correct. Now, what was the purpose of
- 0:39Speaker 1: this award show and who are you trying to honor
- 0:42Speaker 1: at this award show? And why? Well, the purpose of
- 0:45Speaker 1: the award show as a whole, because it's also a nonprofit,
- 0:49Speaker 1: is helped underprivileged youth learn how to invest in trade
- 0:52Speaker 1: in the stock market so we can trade generation of
- 0:55Speaker 1: wealth and financial free from our community. And as first
- 0:58Speaker 1: the award show goes and when we're trying to honor
- 1:01Speaker 1: me to try to I'm trying to honor inline peers
- 1:04Speaker 1: and money of my black peers in business in different
- 1:08Speaker 1: other industries because we as well under the ages of
- 1:12Speaker 1: seventeen really don't get this as regarded and it made
- 1:16Speaker 1: me an adult wood in the same industry, even though
- 1:19Speaker 1: we might be better. So I wanted to give us
- 1:21Speaker 1: an opportunity to be able to connect and collaborate with
- 1:25Speaker 1: each other. And not only each other, but I have
- 1:27Speaker 1: people in the rule that we can connect and collaborate
- 1:30Speaker 1: with and that can take us to the next level. Okay, cool,
- 1:32Speaker 1: truth playmakers. Now truth is as a nickname of yours
- 1:37Speaker 1: did you go by? Because you are the truth? Yes,
- 1:41Speaker 1: my name is Christian the Truth Jones, the Truth. Okay,
- 1:45Speaker 1: all right, Now, you know got a lot of people
- 1:46Speaker 1: out There's athletes can come track you down, like Paul
- 1:49Speaker 1: Piers he's the truth in basketball, Dion Sanders and when
- 1:53Speaker 1: he texts me, he always says he's the truth. So
- 1:56Speaker 1: you're the truth in the stock market. That's what you're saying,
- 1:58Speaker 1: Mr Jones, and period. Okay, okay, God, how old are you,
- 2:05Speaker 1: young man? So we can talk about how you've been
- 2:08Speaker 1: able to You're twelve years old and you're respectful. I
- 2:12Speaker 1: like that. And so when did you feel it? Because
- 2:15Speaker 1: you tell me a little bit about your parents in
- 2:18Speaker 1: your life, because you're twelve years old, and you're effectively
- 2:20Speaker 1: showing maturity at a point of view at twelve years old.
- 2:23Speaker 1: You're talking about the stock market. So tell me a
- 2:25Speaker 1: little bit about your parents. Well, my dad does real
- 2:29Speaker 1: estate and my mom is in the military. And my
- 2:32Speaker 1: mom and dad have really been very inde important and
- 2:36Speaker 1: help me grow and get to where I am now
- 2:38Speaker 1: because I would not be where I am now without
- 2:40Speaker 1: their support financially, emotionally, physically, And that's just helped me
- 2:46Speaker 1: in so many ways. They're amazing and great people. Ah,
- 2:49Speaker 1: you're driving looking for the next best thing they can
- 2:51Speaker 1: do to help grow in health the community. Okay, cool,
- 2:55Speaker 1: Now what are you twelve years old? Point of view?
- 2:58Speaker 1: Stock market? What interests you are? What what knowledge? What
- 3:01Speaker 1: did you start looking at the stock market as a
- 3:03Speaker 1: potential angle or a creative angle to look at And
- 3:08Speaker 1: when did you when did you say this is what
- 3:09Speaker 1: I want to do? Well, it all happens when I
- 3:14Speaker 1: back in like two fourteen, four and five years ago.
- 3:19Speaker 1: So he was seven, um when I saw a Facebook post,
- 3:25Speaker 1: fourteen year old at a black boy at of Chicago
- 3:28Speaker 1: and made fifty thousand dollars off the stock market after
- 3:34Speaker 1: investment a Nike since you wanted to buy from Jordan's,
- 3:38Speaker 1: so he like anyone who wanted um who want to
- 3:42Speaker 1: make that kind of money. I asked my mom to
- 3:45Speaker 1: chiefly how to do that and how to invest in
- 3:46Speaker 1: the stock marketing. At first she didn't take me seriously,
- 3:51Speaker 1: but then I started reading up on the stock marketing.
- 3:53Speaker 1: They're telling him about her about what I was learning.
- 3:57Speaker 1: So then she started to take me a little more
- 3:59Speaker 1: seriously and eventually taught me, after taking a course of
- 4:02Speaker 1: an off how do invest and trade in the stop
- 4:05Speaker 1: wars here. So okay, so she didn't take you serious
- 4:10Speaker 1: because youre seven years old. I understand that, Mr Jones.
- 4:13Speaker 1: There's a reason I wouldn't take you serious either. You
- 4:16Speaker 1: come up there. First of all, you don't have no money,
- 4:18Speaker 1: so toul you invest in the stockball. You gotta have money,
- 4:20Speaker 1: So first of all, you need to go down and
- 4:22Speaker 1: get some lollipops. That's what I'm thinking. It's seven years old.
- 4:25Speaker 1: You know you over were talking about me giving you
- 4:28Speaker 1: money so you can invest in the stock. All I
- 4:30Speaker 1: see is like it's just going in the wind. So
- 4:32Speaker 1: so understand your parents were right not to take you serious. Okay,
- 4:36Speaker 1: So when did this start taking you serious? Mr Jones?
- 4:41Speaker 1: Remember you just seven years old? Remember you seven years old?
- 4:43Speaker 1: So it took him two years to realize that. Were
- 4:46Speaker 1: you saving any money at the time when you're doing
- 4:49Speaker 1: cutting in the yards? Did you give your weekly five dollars?
- 4:52Speaker 1: Did you started saving that? What were you doing with
- 4:54Speaker 1: your money? I have to make my own money. Okay,
- 4:56Speaker 1: I don't get I don't get a lot that. Okay,
- 4:59Speaker 1: So for two years years day, what did you do
- 5:03Speaker 1: did you Did you have any money saved over that period?
- 5:05Speaker 1: You know you have birthdays, your two birthdays come up.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Did you get any money for your birthdays? What was
- 5:09Speaker 1: happening there? I was, well, I did get some money
- 5:12Speaker 1: for my birthday. That helped a little bit. I was
- 5:14Speaker 1: mostly hustling and selling my books to win within Okay, cool, okay,
- 5:18Speaker 1: now we'll get back. Okay. So you wrote a book
- 5:20Speaker 1: at seven, Well, I wrote the book when I was eight.
- 5:24Speaker 1: I was more so I got interested when I was seven.
- 5:27Speaker 1: I wrote the book when I was eight, and honestly,
- 5:29Speaker 1: ninety days I made over five thousand dollars. Okay, cool, okay, okay,
- 5:33Speaker 1: here we go. That's a whole lot of yard because
- 5:35Speaker 1: all I did was cut yards. Now you're an air
- 5:37Speaker 1: condition to selling books. Now hold up now, Mr Jones,
- 5:42Speaker 1: this is money making conversation. You realized that, right, This
- 5:44Speaker 1: money making conversation is the show I created to a
- 5:47Speaker 1: lot of people to understand that you can be successful
- 5:50Speaker 1: if you work hard and have a vision and set
- 5:52Speaker 1: your goals. So I assume it's seven years old. Let's
- 5:55Speaker 1: go back because right now you toy of right, Yes, okay, cool?
- 5:59Speaker 1: At seven years you saw a social media post or
- 6:03Speaker 1: this young man African American young man fourteen years old
- 6:07Speaker 1: in Chicago made fifty dollars in the stock mark. That
- 6:12Speaker 1: was your inspiration. That was your light bulb, right, Okay,
- 6:16Speaker 1: I was just light bulk. Okay, what were you doing
- 6:18Speaker 1: before the lightbulb went off? What will you do? Trying
- 6:22Speaker 1: to be the number one running back ever? Playing football? Okay?
- 6:28Speaker 1: Us out there about the about to knock your brains
- 6:31Speaker 1: out playing football right now, up there playing that little
- 6:36Speaker 1: that little little little league football out there, they all
- 6:38Speaker 1: a sudden, you saw this fifty thou dollars. Okay, We're
- 6:41Speaker 1: gonna go to a break because your your conversation skills
- 6:43Speaker 1: are really good. I didn't know what to expect, but
- 6:46Speaker 1: you you articulate. Now, I won't have this conversation. Go
- 6:48Speaker 1: to the next break, So don't go nowhere, Mr Jones
- 6:51Speaker 1: and Mr Jones, if you don't mind, just said yes
- 6:52Speaker 1: or no, sir. I don't deal with those years. Okay, yes, sir,
- 6:56Speaker 1: thank you. You're right back this Sean McDonald. You're listening
- 7:01Speaker 1: to money making conversations and on the phone. My youngest
- 7:05Speaker 1: host ever, my youngest guests ever. And not because I'm
- 7:08Speaker 1: making that statement, because it just shows you the maturity
- 7:11Speaker 1: of individuals when they when they understand who they are,
- 7:14Speaker 1: when they understand and grasp what they want to do
- 7:16Speaker 1: in their life. I always say that, you know, President
- 7:19Speaker 1: Obama didn't just wake up the day before and say
- 7:22Speaker 1: I want to be He had the plan that that
- 7:25Speaker 1: whole part because they look in his background. If he
- 7:26Speaker 1: had any flaw in the background, he would not have
- 7:28Speaker 1: been a two term president of the United States. And
- 7:31Speaker 1: so when you started looking at what you wanna be,
- 7:33Speaker 1: whether it's an athlete, huh, go to school and uh
- 7:38Speaker 1: just to a high level of education, it's really about
- 7:41Speaker 1: what you want to be, and also the parents that
- 7:43Speaker 1: surround you. Now, his father's real estate, his mom's in military.
- 7:46Speaker 1: On the phone, we have the truth. He has an
- 7:48Speaker 1: award show called The Truth Playmakers is the only African
- 7:52Speaker 1: American youth award show that is founded and produced by
- 7:55Speaker 1: African American youth. He's only twelve years old. It was
- 7:58Speaker 1: held yesterday at the Gathering Spot, which is a very
- 8:00Speaker 1: popular location in Atlanta, Georgia. I have him on the phone.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Please welcome back to the show. Mr Jones. How you doing, sir? Great?
- 8:08Speaker 1: How are you pretty good? Now? Tell us basically about
- 8:13Speaker 1: you know, how can people support your award show? Well,
- 8:17Speaker 1: you can support my award show by home one following
- 8:20Speaker 1: the honorrees for the founding honorrees for their notoro event
- 8:24Speaker 1: in the future ones, or you can either donate on
- 8:28Speaker 1: their sponsor that or next event, because we're definitely gonna
- 8:31Speaker 1: be doing it next year even bigger and better. Okay,
- 8:33Speaker 1: cool the last year. So this year is the first one. Yes,
- 8:37Speaker 1: this is our first event. Okay. Now, with that being
- 8:39Speaker 1: said that you when you say, when you say something
- 8:42Speaker 1: like it's founded and produced by African American youth, Okay,
- 8:46Speaker 1: what was the production like and what was your expectations
- 8:49Speaker 1: for the event. My aspectations, um were really high because
- 8:54Speaker 1: I know, um all my tears have really high and
- 8:57Speaker 1: amazing talents, so my expectations were high and that we
- 9:02Speaker 1: were just gonna we'll do it and do what we
- 9:05Speaker 1: do in the best way we can. Okay, Cool, did
- 9:08Speaker 1: you have any assistance that you haven't needed? Because now
- 9:10Speaker 1: you're in my area production, live event planning and things
- 9:13Speaker 1: like that. I've been doing that since two television high
- 9:17Speaker 1: profile production tours, rent out the Phillips Arena which is
- 9:21Speaker 1: now the State Farm Arena, running out Madison Square, guard
- 9:24Speaker 1: not renting out Staples Center in Los Angeles United Centers Chicago,
- 9:28Speaker 1: So I'm used to doing live events to the big
- 9:31Speaker 1: So what did make you choose a location like together
- 9:34Speaker 1: each problem? I'm just trying to get in your head.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Let everybody know that that if you plan it, it
- 9:38Speaker 1: can it can happen. On one, it was it's black owns,
- 9:44Speaker 1: and two it was it was the perfect facility for
- 9:47Speaker 1: our events at nice space, um good food, and it
- 9:51Speaker 1: had pretty much everything we needed already in place and
- 9:54Speaker 1: set up. So we just need to set up our
- 9:56Speaker 1: own stuff and go from there. And that so we
- 10:00Speaker 1: do the award show successfully. Cool Now, before we left,
- 10:03Speaker 1: before we with the break you was talking about. In
- 10:06Speaker 1: two thousand seven, you had division you wanted to get
- 10:08Speaker 1: in the stock and then two thousand eight you wrote
- 10:10Speaker 1: a book, I apologize. Wow, two thousand I'm thinking about Okay,
- 10:16Speaker 1: two thousand thirteen you wrote the book, right. Two thousand
- 10:20Speaker 1: twelve is when you when you saw the no, no, no.
- 10:25Speaker 1: It was two thousand fourteen when I saw the kim
- 10:27Speaker 1: who made the money. Okay, cool, I wrote the book. Wow,
- 10:33Speaker 1: I'm the one that's losing track of time here. And
- 10:35Speaker 1: now from that book, you generated how much money in sales?
- 10:40Speaker 1: Book sales? I made over five thousand dollars in ninety days? Okay, cool,
- 10:45Speaker 1: in ninety days. What did you do with that money? Well?
- 10:49Speaker 1: I saved it and put it into my stocks account.
- 10:53Speaker 1: And now now now we have money in the stock market.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Now did you have to go to your parents to
- 10:58Speaker 1: get approval to spend that money or how did that work?
- 11:04Speaker 1: So basically, um, now I'm about nine or ten years old,
- 11:09Speaker 1: and my mom is starting to teach me about the
- 11:11Speaker 1: stock market. So she opened me up a brokerage account
- 11:14Speaker 1: and push the money in there, but she won't let
- 11:17Speaker 1: me touch it yet. So all right, actually, like knowing
- 11:21Speaker 1: I was supposed the back of my head. Okay, So
- 11:24Speaker 1: she's so she's still not trusting you it, which is good,
- 11:26Speaker 1: Which is good. Again, she don't want you to just
- 11:29Speaker 1: make a mistake. This is money, and so she's I
- 11:32Speaker 1: would tell people. I understand what people are cautionary. That's
- 11:36Speaker 1: all right, dude, She's not spending your money, she's telling
- 11:40Speaker 1: you being Maybe in your situation, you felt overly protective
- 11:43Speaker 1: of your money. Now, what was the first trade that
- 11:47Speaker 1: you made with your money? The first price? Yes, sir,
- 11:53Speaker 1: so basically the first time I made actual money in
- 11:57Speaker 1: the stop market? Well you made you bought stock? Correct? Like,
- 12:03Speaker 1: what's that? You said that again? Hello? Yes, I said.
- 12:10Speaker 1: So when you generated income in the stock market, what
- 12:13Speaker 1: what how did you evaluate that decision to buy a
- 12:16Speaker 1: particular stock? Well, well, I first made money in the
- 12:22Speaker 1: stock market. How I was able to evaluate it was
- 12:25Speaker 1: about using the system. That's um that's been proven to work.
- 12:30Speaker 1: And I have to select great stocks. And the thing
- 12:33Speaker 1: about the stock market that is, you don't have to.
- 12:34Speaker 1: You don't need a whole bunch of stocument need like
- 12:37Speaker 1: one or two that's are consistently generating income. And so
- 12:43Speaker 1: that's what you're saying, like, for instance, you know my
- 12:46Speaker 1: stock I have, so they buy I don't know what
- 12:50Speaker 1: it used to be. When I started buying my stock,
- 12:51Speaker 1: I had home depot. I knew exactly what stocks I am.
- 12:54Speaker 1: I don't know who they tell me that. They come
- 12:57Speaker 1: to me. They say, we have a conservative line of stock,
- 13:00Speaker 1: we have an aggressive line of stock. Where would you
- 13:02Speaker 1: like to be? And that's what I said, Well, I'm conservative,
- 13:05Speaker 1: and so they're buy my stocks basically on that conservative
- 13:08Speaker 1: lineup thinking. So you're saying that, if you're just an individual,
- 13:12Speaker 1: don't just go out there buying a bunch of stocks,
- 13:14Speaker 1: focus on a couple or two or three. That's what
- 13:17Speaker 1: you're saying, right, Yes, that you've done your truth on
- 13:23Speaker 1: and your truth is Righties that you like and that
- 13:28Speaker 1: you're already buy from are researchers companies thoroughly. You understand
- 13:33Speaker 1: her historical data. Trade after closing, give yourself some time
- 13:38Speaker 1: to think about it, having to enter an exit strategy
- 13:42Speaker 1: and stick to the plan. Don't be really Okay, now,
- 13:48Speaker 1: I'm impressed. I wish to met you in nightyen ninety
- 13:54Speaker 1: five when I was when I invested that baum with
- 14:00Speaker 1: a book A million club. Okay, that's you know. I
- 14:03Speaker 1: moved my stock when I invested the K Mark. I
- 14:06Speaker 1: wish you'd have met you, young man. The truth. Now
- 14:10Speaker 1: reiterate that little quote again because I put it on
- 14:12Speaker 1: my wall. Now say it again, because I'm gonna bring
- 14:15Speaker 1: you back on my show. You're gonna come in my studio,
- 14:16Speaker 1: live your mind sitting next to me, do you sir? No,
- 14:20Speaker 1: I don't mind. Okay, cause we're gonna sit next to you,
- 14:22Speaker 1: gonna do live. We'll take questions on air. Okay. Now
- 14:24Speaker 1: reiterate that the truth again and what it means. I
- 14:27Speaker 1: have adults right now writing it down. So talk slow,
- 14:32Speaker 1: teep twenty companies that you like and that you already
- 14:36Speaker 1: buy from. Are research those companies thoroughly, you understand the
- 14:43Speaker 1: historical data. Te trade after closing, give yourself some time
- 14:49Speaker 1: to think about it and h have an enter and
- 14:53Speaker 1: at a strategy and don't be gree stick to the plan.
- 15:01Speaker 1: There's a lot of people then, the the greedy part
- 15:03Speaker 1: happening to the truth before. I love it. I love
- 15:12Speaker 1: it because see the thing about it is that he's
- 15:14Speaker 1: telling the absolutely truth. I tell people all the time,
- 15:16Speaker 1: like if if you if you're shopping on dupo. Why
- 15:19Speaker 1: are you buying stocking lows? Okay, if you're buying an Apple,
- 15:23Speaker 1: why are you buying then iby? And why are you
- 15:25Speaker 1: investing in Iba? Buy where you feel you see what
- 15:27Speaker 1: I was making mistakes was I would I would listen
- 15:30Speaker 1: to these crazy people on TV. You know, Mad the
- 15:33Speaker 1: mad Man, Mad money guy. He's led me a straight
- 15:36Speaker 1: many times. But it sounded so good. That's why I
- 15:40Speaker 1: like what he's saying. Is that buy after closing because
- 15:43Speaker 1: you know you can buy in the morning because they
- 15:45Speaker 1: said it's hot, because you see stock move, it could move,
- 15:48Speaker 1: and then so you buy and you buy hot and
- 15:51Speaker 1: by closing this drops down, you lost money. So he's
- 15:54Speaker 1: absolutely correct in his philosophy. I'm just letting you know,
- 15:56Speaker 1: if this is a guy who's lost money, I think
- 15:59Speaker 1: I may some money, but I know for a fact
- 16:02Speaker 1: I've lost some money. Bam bam. Book a million Club
- 16:06Speaker 1: cost me some money. I'm just gonna tell everybody publicly
- 16:08Speaker 1: I did that. But I just wanted to bring you
- 16:10Speaker 1: on the show, my friend, uh, to talk about your
- 16:13Speaker 1: award show, the first one either. I will definitely be
- 16:16Speaker 1: a part of your show next year. Um, Like I said,
- 16:19Speaker 1: my my schedule is crazy, but I'm a block out
- 16:21Speaker 1: some time. But I know that Uh, I was invited
- 16:23Speaker 1: to be a part of Be a Tender show and
- 16:25Speaker 1: I wasn't even to make because I was out of town.
- 16:27Speaker 1: I told my staff, please, I want to let them
- 16:30Speaker 1: know that I was very respectful for the invite and
- 16:33Speaker 1: I just wanted to bring you on my show today
- 16:35Speaker 1: and let everybody here what you're trying to do. And
- 16:38Speaker 1: also I want to be a part of it next year.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Is that cool? Yes, that's fine, And I want to
- 16:43Speaker 1: say again thank you for allowing me to be on
- 16:45Speaker 1: the show. And aren't you. Are you located in Atlanta
- 16:48Speaker 1: or somewhere else, I'm gonna I'm everywhere, but Atlanta is
- 16:51Speaker 1: one of my seasons I do call home. I'm in Houston,
- 16:53Speaker 1: I'm in d C, New York, but right now I'm
- 16:55Speaker 1: in Atlanta, Georgia. My friend, Oh, right now, we're good.
- 17:02Speaker 1: We're good. The show is based in Atlanta. And but
- 17:04Speaker 1: I will tell you what I will be UH able
- 17:07Speaker 1: to continue event next year. I apologize for not being
- 17:10Speaker 1: able to attend to this year. And good luck, my friend,
- 17:13Speaker 1: Thank you, I said, thank you for allowing me to
- 17:16Speaker 1: be on the show. This was an amazing conversation to
- 17:18Speaker 1: have with you. Well, you're an amazing young man. You
- 17:21Speaker 1: told us the truth. I've written down the truth. And
- 17:23Speaker 1: the good thing about is that all the advice that
- 17:25Speaker 1: you gave us on this show today was motivating the
- 17:28Speaker 1: fact that you have a vision, your parents who believe
- 17:30Speaker 1: in you and trusted you, and also allowed you to
- 17:33Speaker 1: understand that you have to work hard to reach your dreams.
