- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on now, there's a new movie streaming right now
- 0:02Speaker 1: on Netflix. It's Tyler Paris My Man A Fall from Grace.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Here's the storyline, because I went down to Houston to
- 0:09Speaker 1: see this movie. So let me let me just reel
- 0:11Speaker 1: you guys on it. I was treated very special, very
- 0:13Speaker 1: very special when I went to Southea screening the characters
- 0:16Speaker 1: Grace Waters his storyline. Grace Waters, played by Crystal Fox,
- 0:20Speaker 1: a longtime pillar of her Virginia community, stays composed when
- 0:23Speaker 1: her ex where's his mistress? Who she called? Having sex?
- 0:27Speaker 1: And her son moves away adults, so we're convincing from
- 0:32Speaker 1: her best friend Sarah played by Felicia Rashad. She tries
- 0:36Speaker 1: putting herself first, it's all about me now, and a
- 0:39Speaker 1: handsome stranger McKay Brooks becomes a surprised second love and
- 0:43Speaker 1: he's very very sexy by the week, very very sexy.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Yet any woman can snap, and Grace's new husband soon
- 0:50Speaker 1: ravages her life, her work, and many say drove her
- 0:54Speaker 1: crazy or near sanity made of made of made her
- 0:57Speaker 1: sanity was tested on that point. That's what love can do,
- 1:00Speaker 1: what love got to do. You'll find out in this movie.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Shut it in a sale, awaiting trial for his murder,
- 1:06Speaker 1: races only hope for vindication, lives with Jasmine. The attractive
- 1:10Speaker 1: Jasmine Ryan played by the attractive appreciate Well who don't
- 1:14Speaker 1: know nothing, a public defender who always pleads her case,
- 1:18Speaker 1: but for some reason, she wants to take this case
- 1:21Speaker 1: to court, which drives Tyler Parrish character crazy. The movie
- 1:26Speaker 1: also co stars Oscar nominee Cecily Tyson and writer director
- 1:30Speaker 1: Tyler Perrot A Far from Grace. It's a mesmerizing thriller
- 1:34Speaker 1: built from unthinkable secret. Here's my tape because I was
- 1:39Speaker 1: in Houston. That's my hometown. Everybody know him from filth
- 1:42Speaker 1: for Tyler Perry. Storytelling had me all messed up in
- 1:45Speaker 1: a good way. Here's the money making conversation interview you've
- 1:49Speaker 1: all been waiting for. Here's the money making conversation I
- 1:52Speaker 1: went down to Houston to get because my man, Tyler
- 1:54Speaker 1: Perry is worth the airline ticket. Please, Tyler Perry, please,
- 1:59Speaker 1: Felicia Shaw, please, Crystal Fox and preach you well. Money
- 2:03Speaker 1: making conversation, the interview of a lifetime Okay, cool, great,
- 2:07Speaker 1: thank you for having near Tyler. I'm afraid of for
- 2:11Speaker 1: I'm afraid of Crystal Fox. They are Okay, I'm not
- 2:14Speaker 1: giving away too much because it's a beautiful movie. You
- 2:17Speaker 1: stuck your foot in this movie. You stuck you know,
- 2:19Speaker 1: like the old people say, get some food and if
- 2:21Speaker 1: you stuck your foot in it. Acting directing in the
- 2:24Speaker 1: beginning of the movie, I thought you were just gonna
- 2:25Speaker 1: be a cameo roll in there. But you played on
- 2:28Speaker 1: like a mentor in there. And I want to give
- 2:30Speaker 1: rid too much, but it felt like with a mentorship
- 2:32Speaker 1: type and you was get your job done, get your
- 2:36Speaker 1: job done type character. Because your character is a public defender,
- 2:39Speaker 1: tell me about that. For a few minutes. I feel
- 2:43Speaker 1: like when I was reading the script, it was just
- 2:44Speaker 1: all there on the page. And Jasmine being a public defender,
- 2:49Speaker 1: she wanted to give her all, but she was defeated already.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Um and of course Rory being the best he is
- 2:55Speaker 1: making easy gette and so she had to find that
- 3:00Speaker 1: in a strength in herself. And so it was a
- 3:02Speaker 1: joy to play. Absolutely. The thing I want to say
- 3:05Speaker 1: about Joe character because of the fact that you know,
- 3:07Speaker 1: I've seen you on have and have not, and this
- 3:10Speaker 1: this was a contension. And Charlie was really interesting because
- 3:12Speaker 1: he pushed some of these characters in areas I didn't expect,
- 3:15Speaker 1: So tell me about that that level of expectation that
- 3:18Speaker 1: he pushed you too in your role. Now see, that's
- 3:20Speaker 1: the beauty of it. Tyler gave me the script and
- 3:22Speaker 1: he lets me go for and if he's trying to
- 3:25Speaker 1: see or always allows for me to bring what I
- 3:27Speaker 1: believe is in that character. That's what's so awesome about
- 3:30Speaker 1: when he offers you something. You know he sees that,
- 3:32Speaker 1: so you come in and you just delve in and
- 3:35Speaker 1: if he believes it, he just lets you. Say a
- 3:37Speaker 1: Fall from Grace, Miss Sarah played by Miss I gotta
- 3:42Speaker 1: say ms for that character. That was I know who
- 3:45Speaker 1: you are. Television World has laid it out to you
- 3:47Speaker 1: can't go too far with this character. But talk about
- 3:50Speaker 1: preparation for that character. Talk about the lens that you
- 3:54Speaker 1: went to extend what he wanted from that character for
- 3:57Speaker 1: this particular movie. Fall from Grace, Yes, she Well, what
- 4:00Speaker 1: was important for this character was to be true in
- 4:03Speaker 1: every moment, every single moment, whatever that moment was was real.
- 4:08Speaker 1: She was real in every moment, but you were misleading
- 4:11Speaker 1: it at times as far as the relationship. That's that's
- 4:14Speaker 1: beside the point. Come over, now you were in the
- 4:20Speaker 1: case save too much because in the beginning of your character,
- 4:23Speaker 1: your character plays as this person. You know, everybody felt
- 4:26Speaker 1: that you can I say this like a joke. Yeah,
- 4:29Speaker 1: you being a lawyer was a joke, and and then
- 4:31Speaker 1: nobody respected you. So that that means that gave you
- 4:34Speaker 1: an arc in the movie. And how did that feel
- 4:37Speaker 1: for you? I mean, well, being looked at usually as
- 4:40Speaker 1: a comedic actress, you don't really get to play and
- 4:43Speaker 1: I love that. You don't usually get to play a
- 4:45Speaker 1: multilayer character in that way that you can show the
- 4:49Speaker 1: various sides of a woman and how she is trying
- 4:53Speaker 1: to balance her her personal life and her work life
- 4:56Speaker 1: and being defeated when she comes home from work. So
- 5:00Speaker 1: that said, everything was on the page, and Tyler just
- 5:02Speaker 1: gave us free will to go in and really developed
- 5:06Speaker 1: these characters in an honest way. But no character. I
- 5:09Speaker 1: know they're saying you given them free will. They gave
- 5:11Speaker 1: you. You You gave a free will to developed the characters.
- 5:13Speaker 1: But you had you know what you wrote and let
- 5:15Speaker 1: you comedic. You know, first Lady TV, you know, haven't
- 5:20Speaker 1: having that? Did all these characters that I've seen shifted
- 5:23Speaker 1: in disrections from their career that they led up to
- 5:26Speaker 1: that point. But you casting these rules, why no? I
- 5:30Speaker 1: just first of all, Crystal had not had a shot
- 5:31Speaker 1: to be a leading role or leading in a leading role,
- 5:34Speaker 1: a leading lady, and I thought, it's high time. Forty
- 5:37Speaker 1: years in the business, and I was so excited to
- 5:39Speaker 1: do that for her graduates. Cast bricha against type not
- 5:43Speaker 1: commonly cast or in the dramatically and acrimony. She did
- 5:48Speaker 1: a couple of small roles that were amazing, and then
- 5:50Speaker 1: I add sincely Tyson and Miss Felicia's shot to round
- 5:53Speaker 1: out this level of talent. It was just it was
- 5:55Speaker 1: incredible for you. Well, i'moulna tell you something. I laughed.
- 5:58Speaker 1: I was mad. People next to me hitting me. When
- 6:01Speaker 1: you go to the Black movie when they started getting yeah,
- 6:04Speaker 1: it's a good time, people still up in the end.
- 6:10Speaker 1: That's really you know, you know, if you have a fan,
- 6:13Speaker 1: you know and now your Netflix tell us about that
- 6:15Speaker 1: journey for your brain. Well, I filmed this movie. It
- 6:18Speaker 1: wasn't originally with Netflix. I just filmed it and I
- 6:20Speaker 1: was gonna just shop it and see where it was
- 6:22Speaker 1: gonna land. But they came right away. And they yeah,
- 6:25Speaker 1: They're like, come on, we got we gotta have it.
- 6:26Speaker 1: And i gotta tell you, it's been the most diverse
- 6:29Speaker 1: group of people I've ever worked with this so anything
- 6:31Speaker 1: I've done in Hollywood. So I'm really excited about working
- 6:33Speaker 1: up you know, I know now, you know they take
- 6:34Speaker 1: some of these movies to theaters and they put them
- 6:36Speaker 1: back on and I'm just tell you something, some nominations
- 6:40Speaker 1: to do for some of these characters in this movie.
- 6:43Speaker 1: I was very impressed with the whole process and watching
- 6:46Speaker 1: you build out this whole concept of allowing you to
- 6:49Speaker 1: make looking at your character Grace looking joke your character Jasmine,
- 6:53Speaker 1: your character Miss Sarah, and Bled and I was confused.
- 6:57Speaker 1: You know, I'm a writer, probably writing television over time,
- 7:00Speaker 1: and when you can take a guy like me and
- 7:01Speaker 1: I'm going kind of frustrated in a good way because
- 7:04Speaker 1: I don't know what the script is going, but when
- 7:06Speaker 1: it goes in their lands and lands in such a
- 7:08Speaker 1: powerful direction as a testament not only to you as
- 7:10Speaker 1: a director and the writer, but the characters you allowed
- 7:12Speaker 1: put on three. But I'd be remissed because he's not here. Yes,
- 7:17Speaker 1: Mr Brooks, Mr we have to talk about him. Yeah,
- 7:34Speaker 1: he was. He hasn't mccauth Brooks as a human being, Yes,
- 7:39Speaker 1: has an energy about him that is just what can
- 7:44Speaker 1: I say? It's quiet and still and it's solid. It's
- 7:49Speaker 1: she's just like that a man. Yes, he did for
- 7:58Speaker 1: that reason alone, that the presence of who he is,
- 8:01Speaker 1: and then with his nuances and the way he can
- 8:03Speaker 1: pay the pictures and actors, and the reason there's another
- 8:06Speaker 1: role again from Supergirl to being portraying this character because
- 8:09Speaker 1: I didn't know where that characters are gonna go either.
- 8:11Speaker 1: You see the trailer, but it leave you. Trailer is
- 8:14Speaker 1: only an invite to a great movie, a great project.
- 8:16Speaker 1: I wouldn't thank everybody. I hope the nominations come you away.
- 8:18Speaker 1: They're deserving or not only to the picture, but the
- 8:20Speaker 1: characters you guys played in this movie. A Far from
- 8:23Speaker 1: Grace is a must see. Thank you guys for taking
- 8:25Speaker 1: the time. And I'm trying to get you guys individual
- 8:27Speaker 1: on my podcast because I'm gonna promote this brother. You
- 8:29Speaker 1: know me appreciate you. That's it, y'all. A Fall from Grace,
