- 1:18Speaker 1: we say we're gonna talk. Four years later we talked.
- 1:23Speaker 1: My neck is an incredibly talented film and television actor
- 1:26Speaker 1: who's credit spanned comedies and dramas such as The forty
- 1:29Speaker 1: year Old Virgin. Think Like a Man, Think Like a
- 1:32Speaker 1: Man Too. That's where became Friends Almost Christmas Top five.
- 1:37Speaker 1: That was a very very good movie with Chris Rock.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Las Vegas saw him in there with Morgan Freeman doing
- 1:43Speaker 1: this thing showtimes Weeds. That's when I became a fan Weeds.
- 1:47Speaker 1: I love I say, who is this talent to do?
- 1:49Speaker 1: I used to watch Weeds on the regular basis CBS
- 1:52Speaker 1: is a Good Wife and many more. He's appearing next
- 1:54Speaker 1: in the movie Night School with Kevin Hard and Tiffany
- 1:57Speaker 1: Hattish that would be out in September. In fact Ptember
- 2:00Speaker 1: twenty eight, and he's shooting a new ABC series A
- 2:03Speaker 1: Million little things. He's been nominated for nuble A C
- 2:06Speaker 1: Image Awards, MTV Movie Awards, and Screen Actor Guild Awards.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Please walking the money making conversations Romney Malcolm, Hey, what's up? Man?
- 2:16Speaker 1: Thank you, thank you, But you're right four years ago.
- 2:23Speaker 1: You know what I never forgot rusting you never forgot
- 2:27Speaker 1: I was actually this brother. Want to talk to me? Hey, man,
- 2:32Speaker 1: you know something you know Romney? Uh, First of all, Man,
- 2:34Speaker 1: congratulations on your success. Let's let's get that out the
- 2:37Speaker 1: way first. Because of the fact that you know, it's
- 2:40Speaker 1: an interesting era that we have with African American talent
- 2:44Speaker 1: on town. I know, you know your trinidaddan. You know,
- 2:47Speaker 1: let's let's put that out there. Let's put that out
- 2:49Speaker 1: there correctly. And and so so we're working, We're working.
- 2:54Speaker 1: We're working not just on reality shows. You know that
- 2:57Speaker 1: was a period where reality shows dominated African our presence
- 3:00Speaker 1: on television. So what do you think is happening out there?
- 3:04Speaker 1: Just just feel us a little bit of detail about
- 3:06Speaker 1: about what's going on in your world. And we're gonna
- 3:08Speaker 1: go to some funny things that you're doing. And I
- 3:10Speaker 1: saw that, I saw that prison logic. Man, we gotta
- 3:12Speaker 1: talk about that, but we're gonna talk about mine, all right, man.
- 3:16Speaker 1: And that's the well right off that I want to
- 3:19Speaker 1: start by saying, thank you, really seriously, thank you. I
- 3:22Speaker 1: really appreciate you having me on and my brother following
- 3:24Speaker 1: up on your word. I appreciate that too, um. And
- 3:28Speaker 1: I want to congratulate you on all of your success
- 3:30Speaker 1: as well. Thank you. Um uh yeah. I remem when
- 3:32Speaker 1: we first act, like I think this might have been
- 3:34Speaker 1: on the on the Steve Harvey Show, and I was like, man,
- 3:37Speaker 1: I did that brother, man. You were solid dude. Man.
- 3:40Speaker 1: So anyway to be here talking to you with the
- 3:41Speaker 1: privilege to answer your question my duty. I think that's
- 3:44Speaker 1: something I think that part of the major shift is
- 3:48Speaker 1: I believe that like a report came out, um, you know,
- 3:51Speaker 1: maybe like uh four years ago, it would basically show
- 3:57Speaker 1: that African American dollars responded like African Americans as a
- 4:01Speaker 1: whole responded, not as a whole, but just the general
- 4:05Speaker 1: audience of Africa, you know, TV audience African responded to advertising.
- 4:10Speaker 1: And I think that that kind of set off an
- 4:14Speaker 1: alarm uh um. And there were shows that were kind
- 4:17Speaker 1: of pioneering the way for that, shows like Kevin Hart's
- 4:21Speaker 1: UM Real Husbands, Uh, Hollywood, you know, I can't remember
- 4:27Speaker 1: some of the other shows. But because I took my
- 4:29Speaker 1: challenge a little early thing, we're gonna put it out there.
- 4:32Speaker 1: You know, Anthony Anderson's show, you know that Blackish, you know,
- 4:36Speaker 1: And I remember I talked like I remember before he
- 4:38Speaker 1: came out, Anthony's called me and I said, Anthony, that
- 4:41Speaker 1: title man's crazy, and I brought him on the show.
- 4:44Speaker 1: I still supported it, brought him on Steve Show, helped
- 4:46Speaker 1: launching launch of show, had him set in for Steve,
- 4:49Speaker 1: him and uh, Tracy Ellis Row set in and four
- 4:52Speaker 1: Hours show to promote because I always know, you gotta
- 4:54Speaker 1: put the brand out there. That's been the main thing
- 4:56Speaker 1: about my theme has been, you gotta if people don't
- 4:59Speaker 1: know you, they can't find you, they can't find you. Yeah,
- 5:03Speaker 1: you gotta give them a choice and nothing, you know,
- 5:05Speaker 1: And that's the thing, you know, And look, I know
- 5:06Speaker 1: people in your audience are screaming right now, don't forget scandal,
- 5:10Speaker 1: don't forget by all the Davis shows, you know, don't
- 5:13Speaker 1: get and they're right, you know, but a lot of
- 5:15Speaker 1: these shows came along and you know, um and a
- 5:21Speaker 1: lot of it incentivize these networks to begin, you know,
- 5:24Speaker 1: having more diversity because they saw that actually the black
- 5:28Speaker 1: audience turned off to support you know, black content. And
- 5:31Speaker 1: you know also like, uh, you know, I grew up
- 5:34Speaker 1: in an era where you know, we watched Dynasty and
- 5:38Speaker 1: The Dukes of Hazards and all these shows. That's what
- 5:42Speaker 1: there was, you know what I mean. Don't get me wrong,
- 5:44Speaker 1: I like picents and my favorite was always the Jeffersents
- 5:48Speaker 1: and and and and I'm good Times. But the reality
- 5:51Speaker 1: of it was is that we didn't have there's much representation.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Now that there is much representation, people choose it, you
- 5:56Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, and people like to see something
- 5:58Speaker 1: of reflective likeness. They late to it more right off
- 6:01Speaker 1: in the continent of speaking about things that they can
- 6:03Speaker 1: relate to. And he was on the marketing dollars and
- 6:07Speaker 1: so you know, when we see an advertisement, we're actually
- 6:10Speaker 1: influenced by it. And that makes a huge different to
- 6:12Speaker 1: the people that the marketing you know, especially especially now
- 6:15Speaker 1: that people can go anywhere the launch television, you know,
- 6:19Speaker 1: and I read this book and it was breaking down
- 6:21Speaker 1: how like fifty of the people who even shop at
- 6:23Speaker 1: Walmart don't even own like external hardware for their television,
- 6:28Speaker 1: the meaning they don't have cable, they don't have any
- 6:30Speaker 1: kind of box. They're still watching the regular network television.
- 6:34Speaker 1: That plays a role in it as well. But anyway,
- 6:36Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I'm just going on. Oh no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 6:39Speaker 1: no no no, Malcole. That's what this show is about.
- 6:41Speaker 1: That's why it's called money Making Conversation. That's why I
- 6:44Speaker 1: shot McDonald's hosted, because I can bring talent like you.
- 6:47Speaker 1: We're gonna talk about your TV, You're gonna talk about
- 6:49Speaker 1: all that, but this you know your mindset, because people
- 6:52Speaker 1: need to understand that there's a three sixty platform for
- 6:54Speaker 1: a guy like you to be successful as much as
- 6:56Speaker 1: you are. You you understand the business. You understand why
- 6:59Speaker 1: you're not working, why are you being chosen for roles,
- 7:01Speaker 1: and how you consistently can be there. A lot of
- 7:04Speaker 1: people don't understand it. They really just think that just
- 7:06Speaker 1: show up and you just just you for a role.
- 7:09Speaker 1: If you want longevity, you have to understand what you're
- 7:11Speaker 1: walking into. And you're saying you're saying it, yeah, you
- 7:16Speaker 1: really do. And you know the thing, Uh, you know
- 7:19Speaker 1: that that I think that we under I think that
- 7:21Speaker 1: the thing that we underestimate in the process of doing
- 7:24Speaker 1: all of this is that I've seen a lot of
- 7:26Speaker 1: people come before me, and um, I've seen them piss
- 7:30Speaker 1: off this as many you know, big main people as
- 7:33Speaker 1: I've supposedly pissed off. And you know, because the fact
- 7:36Speaker 1: that they didn't want to do a job, you chose
- 7:39Speaker 1: to honor their integrity before honoring you know, their pockets.
- 7:43Speaker 1: And you know that's not a language that spoke very
- 7:47Speaker 1: common in in in uh in the HollyHood. And so
- 7:50Speaker 1: people with egos really take it personally when you turn
- 7:53Speaker 1: down their projects. But what I have found is that
- 7:56Speaker 1: kind of you know, I founded slay to someone preservation
- 8:00Speaker 1: in the sense that you know, I never thought this.
- 8:05Speaker 1: I always used to wonder should I get bigger athens?
- 8:07Speaker 1: Should half bigger managers do that? But when it really
- 8:10Speaker 1: boils down to it your best representation of your body
- 8:13Speaker 1: of work in this business, that your best representation, it
- 8:16Speaker 1: will go out and speak on be happy to you
- 8:18Speaker 1: on every fedinal platform. We don tell you something about
- 8:22Speaker 1: like a Seriously, when I introduced you at the beginning Weed,
- 8:26Speaker 1: which is on showtime, Um, that's when I first became
- 8:29Speaker 1: a fan of yours, you know. And and it's because
- 8:32Speaker 1: you took a character, you know, and in that world,
- 8:36Speaker 1: you know, usually it's rough, but you played it like
- 8:41Speaker 1: it was. It was funny, dangerous. Does that make sense?
- 8:44Speaker 1: And and and so when you when you can take
- 8:47Speaker 1: a role and then you can shape it, and I
- 8:50Speaker 1: think that's what you do. So I feel that's what
- 8:51Speaker 1: you do so well with all your roles, you know,
- 8:53Speaker 1: whether you plan a butler, or you playing some swab dude,
- 8:57Speaker 1: or you playing a player, or you're playing a die
- 9:00Speaker 1: d or whatever, all these roles, you just shape it.
- 9:02Speaker 1: How do you come up? How do you make a
- 9:04Speaker 1: decision on where you're gonna take these characters? When you
- 9:07Speaker 1: when you auditioning, Um, you know, that's the thing. That's
- 9:11Speaker 1: like what I'll do. Like I was doing it yesterday.
- 9:13Speaker 1: I was just saying for my show, I just basically
- 9:15Speaker 1: take those words and take the scenario. I don't want
- 9:18Speaker 1: to know who you'd expect me to play. I want
- 9:20Speaker 1: to read it, just read it like a book. And
- 9:22Speaker 1: and then a nature I just developed an opinion about
- 9:25Speaker 1: every person in the movie. And then I said, who
- 9:27Speaker 1: who am I supposed to be playing? Oh? That dude.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Oh that dude, he's the so and so, because I
- 9:32Speaker 1: really have a genuine opinion. I'm not thinking about it
- 9:34Speaker 1: of like thinking about it from the perspective of how
- 9:37Speaker 1: should I play this? No, I'm really just these characters,
- 9:40Speaker 1: the twin people. I try to think about, how can
- 9:43Speaker 1: I relate this to real life and include not the
- 9:46Speaker 1: howity system and and to some degree or another, and um,
- 9:50Speaker 1: you know, for me, if I can't make it personal,
- 9:53Speaker 1: I can't really I can't really mess with it, you
- 9:56Speaker 1: know what I mean. And and so it starts there,
- 10:00Speaker 1: and then I begin to like because a lot of
- 10:02Speaker 1: people will reference another character on TV. You know, I've
- 10:06Speaker 1: been around a long time, so I can reference in
- 10:10Speaker 1: my life and be like, oh, I know I know
- 10:12Speaker 1: who this dude is. This dude is Neto and Needle
- 10:15Speaker 1: was a dude that I grew up when I lived
- 10:16Speaker 1: in New York. You know, I'll begin making indelic because
- 10:20Speaker 1: like the mom but to eat it and I don't
- 10:23Speaker 1: walk around for weeks. Man, let me tell you something,
- 10:25Speaker 1: my girl can't stand it. I will walk around for
- 10:28Speaker 1: weeks and character and your food like that just ain't caring. Yes, yes,
- 10:34Speaker 1: and I will hate you I would hate you y'all
- 10:39Speaker 1: really tell you when I do that. And it's funny
- 10:41Speaker 1: too because I'll do that and you know, you care
- 10:44Speaker 1: about what other people think. The exercise for me is
- 10:48Speaker 1: to get to the point of being this character and
- 10:51Speaker 1: because you know, and then character don't give up. But
- 10:56Speaker 1: now let's let's let's talk about that. Then this show,
- 10:59Speaker 1: this the series that you wrote direct and then started
- 11:03Speaker 1: prison lodging. Now, if you walk around being that character,
- 11:07Speaker 1: I'm gonna punch you, because you that character is off
- 11:09Speaker 1: the chain. Dude. I put the teeth in and everything
- 11:12Speaker 1: I walk around, um, not even sight you can see
- 11:17Speaker 1: what I watched the video. I cat, what's wrong with
- 11:20Speaker 1: this front teeth? I was seriously, man, I was like,
- 11:24Speaker 1: I gotta ask you what's wrong with this front teeth?
- 11:27Speaker 1: Because I was just I was so into the character
- 11:29Speaker 1: and you're so natural when you walked around the dinner
- 11:32Speaker 1: table and start just bringing everybody down, and I'm just
- 11:34Speaker 1: looking at your front teeth and so you walk around
- 11:37Speaker 1: a character with that with those teeth off set. That's
- 11:39Speaker 1: what you're telling me, Dude. I go in the glocery
- 11:43Speaker 1: store and not only that, you know what, Let's be
- 11:45Speaker 1: real people, will stop you on the shoot all the time. Yo,
- 11:47Speaker 1: can I get a picture? They don't care for you
- 11:49Speaker 1: with your kids. They don't care to you with your girls,
- 11:51Speaker 1: don't care what you're doing. So you put the teeth
- 11:53Speaker 1: in and you pet that little scowl on your face.
- 11:55Speaker 1: People just go around. They treat you differently, and that's
- 11:58Speaker 1: what I want to experience for them, because within the character,
- 12:00Speaker 1: I want to experience how the world what I'm saying.
- 12:04Speaker 1: And that's why I do that. You know, man, I'll
- 12:07Speaker 1: be doing some types of stuff, but yes, yes, but
- 12:10Speaker 1: when you see that movie prison logic, you will understand
- 12:13Speaker 1: why it's worked. Okay, let's let's she says it real fast,
- 12:16Speaker 1: but it's important to hear the name of the movie
- 12:18Speaker 1: prison then logic. Okay, prison logic. That means a guy
- 12:24Speaker 1: individual who's done some time, was carrying that philosophy in
- 12:28Speaker 1: everyday world activity. He's out, but he's thinking in that
- 12:33Speaker 1: same tone and vain. That's why I took Awa. That's
- 12:36Speaker 1: why I took away from that video. I was like,
- 12:38Speaker 1: it was so clean where you was talking. Plus I
- 12:41Speaker 1: had a couple of people who've been in jail, so
- 12:43Speaker 1: I do that logic. You know, when they get out,
- 12:45Speaker 1: they're still the smartest people in the world. Basically why
- 12:48Speaker 1: they were in jail because they were too smart to
- 12:50Speaker 1: stay out of jail. And so when I hear that
- 12:53Speaker 1: prison logic being said in this movie, I feel, Okay,
- 12:56Speaker 1: I know that person. I know that person right there
- 12:59Speaker 1: because so so so the characters. Why did you decide
- 13:03Speaker 1: to write, direct and start in a project? Um, well, uh,
- 13:09Speaker 1: just honestly, honestly, I didn't want to write it. I
- 13:13Speaker 1: tried to hire a writer. I didn't want to direct it.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Um I tried to I tried to hire a director.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Every single person that was involved kept saying, rom this
- 13:22Speaker 1: is so unique your this is so unique to your
- 13:25Speaker 1: voice that you know you have to do it. And
- 13:28Speaker 1: so when we hired the writer, ended up he ended
- 13:31Speaker 1: up proving him right. When we tried to get directors involved,
- 13:34Speaker 1: ended up proving him right. It was like, I just
- 13:36Speaker 1: have you know, it was specific to me. I didn't
- 13:38Speaker 1: have the confidence, but I'm glad that they made me
- 13:41Speaker 1: do it, because you know, I ended up being able
- 13:44Speaker 1: to put a touch on it and bring something to
- 13:46Speaker 1: it that I don't think that hold hold that thought
- 13:49Speaker 1: because I want to continue this conversation on the phone,
- 13:52Speaker 1: Romney malcol talented actor be right back. I just ra
- 13:58Speaker 1: Sean McDonald back. You're listening to money making conversations on
- 14:02Speaker 1: the phone. Is a very talented film television actor Gratis
- 14:06Speaker 1: Expand from the forty old version. That's his big, big
- 14:08Speaker 1: breakout hit. I found him and fell in love with
- 14:11Speaker 1: him on the Showtime show Weeds. He started two movies
- 14:14Speaker 1: are executive produced. That started Kevin Hard to Roger By Hanson,
- 14:18Speaker 1: a lot of other talent of the African American town
- 14:20Speaker 1: like Gabriel Union, Think like a Man, Think like a
- 14:22Speaker 1: Man too, huge success at the box office. He also
- 14:25Speaker 1: being next month he would be again with my man
- 14:27Speaker 1: Kevin Hard and the Hot and she's on everything. Tiffany Hattish.
- 14:32Speaker 1: That movie will be out. It's called Night School. They'll
- 14:34Speaker 1: be out September twenty eight. Um. Like I said, this
- 14:37Speaker 1: young man is doing it all. When we left, Mr Malcole,
- 14:41Speaker 1: you were talking about I would say that because see
- 14:43Speaker 1: anybody who walks around his stays and character. Let's talk
- 14:47Speaker 1: about the prison lodge because we started talking about it,
- 14:48Speaker 1: but we didn't get people to details. Because I want to.
- 14:50Speaker 1: I want to. I want to get people excited about this.
- 14:52Speaker 1: I also want to make sure that anywhere I can
- 14:54Speaker 1: help social media wise to get the word out of
- 14:57Speaker 1: about this movie. Please help me out. But first break
- 14:59Speaker 1: down that character, because if you go to the website,
- 15:02Speaker 1: it's like a two minute and twenty nine second video
- 15:04Speaker 1: that sets the stage of what this character is all about.
- 15:07Speaker 1: And he's sitting at the dental table with his mom
- 15:10Speaker 1: and he just his mom talked, my chi can't write
- 15:13Speaker 1: him because she got out the writers. Then you go,
- 15:15Speaker 1: you can't call. Uh, that's prison, that's logic. Somebody tell
- 15:20Speaker 1: you Mama's baby. I would have written, but you know
- 15:24Speaker 1: I had all the threat as you go, you can't
- 15:25Speaker 1: call mom, you can't call you can't call you. So
- 15:27Speaker 1: break down that whole scene and the character so we
- 15:30Speaker 1: can know where we're going with this prison logic. Okay,
- 15:33Speaker 1: so let me see it. So the scene that you
- 15:34Speaker 1: actually saw that actually is equip from the movie, and
- 15:37Speaker 1: it's just basically, UH, an ex conduct has come home
- 15:41Speaker 1: from prison, and he's gotten home from prison and he's
- 15:45Speaker 1: you know, set on becoming motivational speaker, but his probation
- 15:49Speaker 1: officer is insisting that he UH focused on just getting
- 15:54Speaker 1: a nine to five and doing the things that his
- 15:57Speaker 1: prob his reprobation requires, you know, getting nine flies and
- 16:01Speaker 1: um and you know, to take your analysis test. And
- 16:05Speaker 1: this basically lived the most you know, subservient life you
- 16:08Speaker 1: can live to the system. And his mother is very
- 16:12Speaker 1: much on that page as well. I don't want you
- 16:13Speaker 1: going back in jail. But he's got this big treat
- 16:15Speaker 1: that's going to check him away and you know, take
- 16:19Speaker 1: him out of Fort Landale, Florida and leaving him to Orlando, Florida.
- 16:22Speaker 1: But he hasn't gotten a permit, you know, a travel
- 16:25Speaker 1: permit from his probation officer, and his mother believed that
- 16:28Speaker 1: she needs them around the house. The family believe they
- 16:30Speaker 1: need to prom and so this is the debate that
- 16:32Speaker 1: they're having at the moment because he wants to go
- 16:35Speaker 1: and they want him to stay. That character, believe or not.
- 16:38Speaker 1: I created that character many many years ago on YouTube,
- 16:41Speaker 1: and I would do it as a series while I
- 16:43Speaker 1: was doing the First Think like Man, That's when I started.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Every Sunday I would do the cities. And the reason
- 16:48Speaker 1: is because me is romny now go especially back then,
- 16:52Speaker 1: I'm just you know, to to mote to the kids
- 16:54Speaker 1: that I wanted to reach the people that are considered
- 16:56Speaker 1: at risk teams and whatnot. I'm just a corny dude, right,
- 17:01Speaker 1: So I needed to find a way to use humor
- 17:03Speaker 1: and real street stuff to you know, articulate point that
- 17:08Speaker 1: we're very very important just for moving forward in life.
- 17:12Speaker 1: And so I created this character. And character was well received.
- 17:16Speaker 1: The character that people would uploaded to world Star. They
- 17:19Speaker 1: would you know, come to YouTube and watched a live
- 17:21Speaker 1: series and eventually those people started saying, you know, you
- 17:25Speaker 1: gotta make a movie. And believe it or not, I
- 17:27Speaker 1: spent at least four or five years in Hollywood people
- 17:30Speaker 1: promising to help me make this movie. You gotta make
- 17:32Speaker 1: it so funny names. I could go down the list
- 17:34Speaker 1: of names and you know, and and and the truth
- 17:37Speaker 1: is is that it was all taught. And so I
- 17:39Speaker 1: finally decided, you know what, I'm gonna just do it.
- 17:42Speaker 1: I was living in Porto Rico. I was like, let
- 17:43Speaker 1: me just do a crowdfunding campaign and see if the
- 17:47Speaker 1: people who want me to make this movie people really
- 17:48Speaker 1: behind it. And I learned a lot of strategies about crowdfunding.
- 17:51Speaker 1: So if you ever have questions, y'all got to ask me. Please,
- 17:54Speaker 1: everybody listening you've got questions about this stuff, asked me,
- 17:57Speaker 1: I'll send you an email or some notes on how
- 17:59Speaker 1: to actually about it. I had to do that. I
- 18:02Speaker 1: use let me know if I'm getting too home, and
- 18:04Speaker 1: this was I only asked the half of what I wanted,
- 18:06Speaker 1: and by doing that, I was able to make the
- 18:08Speaker 1: car frond and the campaign look successful. And by making
- 18:10Speaker 1: it look successful, I was able to attract the investors.
- 18:13Speaker 1: And I went ahead and made my movie without Hollywood. Now,
- 18:17Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you something. This sounds like a sitcom.
- 18:22Speaker 1: It sounds like a drama. A motivational X calm speaker
- 18:27Speaker 1: that that's sounds like a slick sture. Sounds like a
- 18:31Speaker 1: guy who's been educating in prison. So it's a movie. Now,
- 18:36Speaker 1: everybody wants content. Netflix won't content, WHOLU wants content. Amazonre content,
- 18:40Speaker 1: including the networks and cable. Is it just gonna stay
- 18:44Speaker 1: in that movie. I'm just telling people. I'm just encouraging
- 18:46Speaker 1: anybody to see this movie. It's that entertaining. I'll just
- 18:51Speaker 1: let you know. It's that interesting. And its character, man,
- 18:54Speaker 1: and its character is so so believable, because, like I said,
- 18:59Speaker 1: everybody to know this guy. Everybody that has met this
- 19:02Speaker 1: guy and everybody as a successful level and as a failure,
- 19:07Speaker 1: he might have been a homeless guy on the street
- 19:08Speaker 1: might have been this guy. And that's that's part of
- 19:11Speaker 1: it too. Is that me growing up? Whenever I was
- 19:13Speaker 1: watching the show, even if I was watching The flint Stones, right,
- 19:17Speaker 1: I really I always vide more with Bonnie Rubble. If
- 19:20Speaker 1: I was watching, I always find more with Ed Norton,
- 19:24Speaker 1: you know what I mean. It didn't that I always
- 19:26Speaker 1: vibe more with sidekick. I always had like like and
- 19:29Speaker 1: and that that uncle do you hear everybody talk about
- 19:32Speaker 1: but you don't ever see that uncle be to leave
- 19:34Speaker 1: in the movie. I wanted that dude to be the lead.
- 19:36Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, because I vibele with those people,
- 19:39Speaker 1: with those obscure off the people who aren't necessarily, you know,
- 19:43Speaker 1: considered lead material. And so um, I want to say
- 19:46Speaker 1: something to you about this particular thing. I'm gonna tell you.
- 19:50Speaker 1: When you make an independent film, there's usually very little
- 19:55Speaker 1: chance of making any money on independent film, there's us
- 19:58Speaker 1: a very little chance of being seen in the light
- 20:00Speaker 1: of day. And you know you have I'm not gonna
- 20:02Speaker 1: say any names, but you have all these major outlets
- 20:04Speaker 1: now that are unconventional outlets, you know, live streaming and whatnot.
- 20:08Speaker 1: And what they'll do is they'll buy it for next
- 20:10Speaker 1: to enough and they a lot of times don't even
- 20:12Speaker 1: compensate before what you spent on the movie. But the
- 20:14Speaker 1: tradeoff is people get to see a movie. This movie
- 20:19Speaker 1: is has Masina Hall in it, it has Tammy Roman
- 20:21Speaker 1: in it. It's got a kid named Tyler Cassidy who
- 20:25Speaker 1: was Froggy Fresh. He pranked the world for a good
- 20:28Speaker 1: four years um as the Rapper or Krispykreeman Arky Fresh
- 20:31Speaker 1: on YouTube. Um and I've got myself in it, um
- 20:37Speaker 1: uh BLOGI Lynn Oldham. And And the point that I'm making,
- 20:40Speaker 1: the point that I'm trying to make is that I really,
- 20:43Speaker 1: um had no clue that this movie was ever going
- 20:47Speaker 1: to be anything other than the status quo in regards
- 20:50Speaker 1: to how it would get distributed. But right now we
- 20:53Speaker 1: are doing business with some of the biggest producers in
- 20:56Speaker 1: Hollywood because they got a glimp of this movie. They
- 20:58Speaker 1: saw this movie, you got the Clampone was like, wait
- 21:01Speaker 1: a minute, I didn't see that. I sent it to
- 21:02Speaker 1: him and looked at it and they were like, all right,
- 21:04Speaker 1: we and here's how we want to go, how we
- 21:07Speaker 1: want to move forward. And I went from this little
- 21:09Speaker 1: independent movie with a little crowd funding budget and I
- 21:12Speaker 1: made it for like four ran to where this movie
- 21:15Speaker 1: is gonna have a wide release next year. And I
- 21:16Speaker 1: can't even next year though, two thousand nineteen, and I
- 21:20Speaker 1: can't even bel to tell you how much that alone
- 21:22Speaker 1: is empowered and change in my life. Dude, it has
- 21:24Speaker 1: changed everything my outlook. It's like, once you know you
- 21:27Speaker 1: can hunt your own food, the game change. Now. Okay,
- 21:30Speaker 1: now you know what that means now, romany Okay, Sean mcdown,
- 21:36Speaker 1: it's promoting you right now before. So I got to
- 21:40Speaker 1: be there for the twinter nineteen as well as to
- 21:42Speaker 1: come back on this show promoted. Because this is a movie.
- 21:44Speaker 1: I'm just letting everybody know that it's outstanding. Um the cash,
- 21:49Speaker 1: everybody don't know what Regina Hall, one of the most
- 21:51Speaker 1: incredible comedic actresses in the game today, downs has down
- 21:57Speaker 1: has down this brilliant, brilliant. The fact that you're doing this,
- 22:01Speaker 1: And but I wanted a lot of independent people to
- 22:03Speaker 1: hear this, to let them know that, yeah, there's no
- 22:06Speaker 1: walk of shame and getting your movie done there's no
- 22:08Speaker 1: walk of shame, and how you get it distributed. The
- 22:11Speaker 1: thing is that it's your dream. But make sure you
- 22:14Speaker 1: you know the tire thing up, you know, make sure
- 22:16Speaker 1: that you have the releases signed off. Don't just have
- 22:18Speaker 1: people talk about I show up. And then also you
- 22:20Speaker 1: get an opportunity to get your soul. You run around
- 22:23Speaker 1: trying to find releases to sign off on. Be professional
- 22:26Speaker 1: from day one, from up start, and that's really important.
- 22:29Speaker 1: And that's what you did with this movie. But before
- 22:31Speaker 1: we go, I wanted to bring up something about this.
- 22:33Speaker 1: This is a social network that you have called life
- 22:35Speaker 1: Management Tribe. Oh you know stuff? Whoa okay, all right, okay,
- 22:45Speaker 1: So look man, when it really boils down to it,
- 22:47Speaker 1: I spent a lot of time I used to spend.
- 22:50Speaker 1: I used to be a White House consultant, Like literally
- 22:53Speaker 1: the White House have becoming. They flynt me in and
- 22:55Speaker 1: ask me, oh, you know, how how can we get
- 22:57Speaker 1: better engagement? That kind of thing, and I would go
- 22:59Speaker 1: through strategies with them. But you know, I've sent a
- 23:02Speaker 1: lot of time on social social media. And when I
- 23:04Speaker 1: really stopped and ask myself what was going on? Like,
- 23:06Speaker 1: you know, I didn't want to gain nothing that I
- 23:09Speaker 1: didn't add any value, you know what I mean. And
- 23:11Speaker 1: so I was like, I would love to be a
- 23:13Speaker 1: part of a social networks that actually added value, that
- 23:15Speaker 1: I could look to that maybe it's inspired me, maybe
- 23:18Speaker 1: gave me insight on how to have better health, just
- 23:21Speaker 1: keep me in the community of positive people. And you know,
- 23:24Speaker 1: with everything going on in politics right now, people just
- 23:26Speaker 1: feel like they can just be as disrespectful and as
- 23:29Speaker 1: emotionally emotionally inconsiderate as they want to be on social networks.
- 23:33Speaker 1: You know, you could build up a huge audience and
- 23:36Speaker 1: track a huge audience to Facebook platform, and then out
- 23:39Speaker 1: of nowhere they change an algorithm and you no longer
- 23:42Speaker 1: have access to that audience. You got to pay them
- 23:45Speaker 1: for the ardience you attracted today platform. That just all
- 23:48Speaker 1: sounds backwards to me, and I've never been to do
- 23:50Speaker 1: that's been comfortable with the status quo. So I was like, look,
- 23:53Speaker 1: let me just create my own network and I'm just
- 23:55Speaker 1: going to do an experiment. It's just an experiment, and
- 23:57Speaker 1: I want to see if I invest as much time
- 24:00Speaker 1: as I did in other platforms in my own platform,
- 24:05Speaker 1: what what the results be. So that's what I've been
- 24:08Speaker 1: doing in life Management Trial dot com. It's just basically
- 24:11Speaker 1: that it's just a positive platform to people, you know.
- 24:14Speaker 1: And I also I launch a podcast through which so
- 24:17Speaker 1: I talked about things that are important to me. So
- 24:19Speaker 1: right now I'm going over Anthony Williams book A Medical Medium,
- 24:24Speaker 1: which has some really interesting philosophies, but ultimately man just
- 24:27Speaker 1: a place that adds value. You go through it and
- 24:29Speaker 1: you feel like you've got some information, you've got some encouragement,
- 24:32Speaker 1: people hold you accountable. We have challenges on this getting
- 24:35Speaker 1: its challenges. We just did a claim to Clarella Claims
- 24:38Speaker 1: Challenge where we did Clarella for four days, nothing else,
- 24:41Speaker 1: like a detox. It's like, you know what, it's real
- 24:44Speaker 1: stuff and and you know, for me, that's just that's
- 24:46Speaker 1: that's the life I live and that's what I want
- 24:48Speaker 1: to be involved in. As a result of that, I
- 24:50Speaker 1: don't really engage as much on the more you know,
- 24:52Speaker 1: popular platforms because I'm usually involved in my own platform.
- 24:56Speaker 1: But but the reward is much great at my brother
- 24:58Speaker 1: and you know, and I've learned it ain't about reaching
- 25:00Speaker 1: It ain't about reaching four hundred million people. It's about
- 25:03Speaker 1: reaching the people who want to reach you. And also
- 25:05Speaker 1: it's like adding value to the people who add value
- 25:08Speaker 1: to you than thank you, Thank you. We're gonna talk soon,
- 25:13Speaker 1: and I'm also going to promote this. Send me a
