- 1:28Speaker 1: a new album coming out, y'all first one in ten years,
- 1:30Speaker 1: will be in stores May fifth. Please welcome to Money
- 1:34Speaker 1: Making Conversations, MS Patty Label. What's that an intro? What's
- 1:42Speaker 1: that intro? That was awesome? And congratulations were shot on
- 1:47Speaker 1: your new show? Well, thank you. I've really appreciate it.
- 1:50Speaker 1: I know that our relationship as uh you know you
- 1:53Speaker 1: you took care of me at the Hoodie Awards. You
- 1:55Speaker 1: know you was the first big star to come on
- 1:57Speaker 1: that stage and uh and may and credibility to a
- 2:01Speaker 1: show there was about regular people and you made the difference.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I appreciate you for that. Thank you, Thank you so much.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Now the reason I made money making conversations because you know,
- 2:10Speaker 1: you're entertainer, and a lot of people just see you
- 2:12Speaker 1: as an entertainer. But there's a tremendous business side is
- 2:15Speaker 1: starting to awaken and a lot of entertainers and you, you,
- 2:19Speaker 1: you're one of the primary examples. Miss Sweet Potato Pie,
- 2:22Speaker 1: Patty label Sat Pattie. Come on, but Timmy, Timmy, how
- 2:28Speaker 1: that how all that got started? We're gonna talk about
- 2:30Speaker 1: the you know, the book, and you're gonna talk about
- 2:32Speaker 1: the album all that. But I want to make sure
- 2:34Speaker 1: people understand you're in the next phase of your life.
- 2:37Speaker 1: You know, you're truly a businesswoman. I watched your TV show,
- 2:40Speaker 1: your cook show with the celebrities. That's fun. It's like
- 2:43Speaker 1: you you're taking on a whole new role in life.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Explain to me a little bit. I uh, maybe maybe
- 2:49Speaker 1: three years ago my son's Glory, who was my manager,
- 2:54Speaker 1: had a conversation with Walmart. Yes, ma'am, I actually can't
- 2:59Speaker 1: say how long ago that was. But whatever, everything started happening,
- 3:03Speaker 1: you know, maybe a year ago, and the pie was
- 3:07Speaker 1: the first test of Patty Labelle's whatever she could sell
- 3:12Speaker 1: and go ahead, baby, would you say they got a
- 3:17Speaker 1: test you see if you're real. Oh, yes they do,
- 3:21Speaker 1: and they found out that I am. And the you know,
- 3:24Speaker 1: my dessert, the supertata pie that was rescie from my
- 3:28Speaker 1: mother and father back in the day, and then I
- 3:31Speaker 1: tweaked it a little for Walmart, you know, with your
- 3:34Speaker 1: and the pie just went crazy. And then there was
- 3:37Speaker 1: a cute little James Wright who came in and did
- 3:40Speaker 1: the video and it went even more crazy. That's a blessed, right,
- 3:44Speaker 1: that was a blessing. Right, that was a blessing, Yes
- 3:47Speaker 1: it was. And um so now we have the peach cobbler,
- 3:51Speaker 1: blueberry cobbler or apple cobbler at the banana pudding, uh
- 3:55Speaker 1: apple pecan cake. Then we're going into savory. I have
- 3:59Speaker 1: many more uh desserts, but I can't think of all them, right,
- 4:02Speaker 1: don't worry about it. But we were all available at
- 4:05Speaker 1: Walmart right now, all at Walmart. And God, God bless
- 4:09Speaker 1: you know success because they're doing so well. I mean
- 4:13Speaker 1: I knew they were great products because I cooked well. Right,
- 4:17Speaker 1: you never know how someone's going to accept your products, right,
- 4:20Speaker 1: and so so so when when when you've got worried
- 4:23Speaker 1: that they weren't keeping your sweet potato pies on the shell.
- 4:27Speaker 1: We ran through your mind, girl, Thank you Jesus, you know.
- 4:31Speaker 1: And I mean it's like I always say that it's funny,
- 4:35Speaker 1: but I saw more pies and records right right, right right,
- 4:40Speaker 1: Oh my god. No, I think both of them are
- 4:44Speaker 1: are cool, you know, but I always say that they
- 4:46Speaker 1: sold so fast, and you know it takes music a
- 4:49Speaker 1: long time to sell on all that jazz, and so
- 4:52Speaker 1: I I just smiled and said, dear God, thank you.
- 4:56Speaker 1: This is the beauty that you're going to sleep and
- 4:58Speaker 1: you're making money while you're even Let's say that's the way.
- 5:01Speaker 1: That's the way the success. You know, you know when
- 5:03Speaker 1: you're not on stage, you're getting paid. That's been your career.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Now you're just going to sleep. You wake up and
- 5:09Speaker 1: you know your career is being blessed financially. And that's
- 5:12Speaker 1: really the key and all list. And so that leads to,
- 5:14Speaker 1: you know, we always know you've been in a New
- 5:16Speaker 1: York Times bestselling author. Now you got a desert book
- 5:18Speaker 1: out and on that cover and on the back is
- 5:21Speaker 1: that sweepertator pie. Come on, now, let's talk to me
- 5:24Speaker 1: about the whole history. And I'm gonna tell you what
- 5:25Speaker 1: I've done with the book already, because you know, I
- 5:28Speaker 1: think I can bake, but I'm not pat of the bail.
- 5:30Speaker 1: But I've already baked the uh the the I already
- 5:33Speaker 1: baked this now, the cherry crumble pie, which is on
- 5:35Speaker 1: page one, one nine, and I've already baked the Aunt
- 5:39Speaker 1: May's blue ribbon blueberry muffin that's on page seventy. I've
- 5:44Speaker 1: already maked that. That's how easy. That fantastic. And the
- 5:48Speaker 1: reason I'm saying that is that I'm telling people. You know,
- 5:51Speaker 1: sometimes these QuickBooks can be complicated, and you're telling the story,
- 5:54Speaker 1: you're engaging people. And I enjoyed reading the stories as
- 5:57Speaker 1: well as I felt like I was family reading the
- 5:59Speaker 1: story the book. And when I was doing the recipes,
- 6:02Speaker 1: they were they were very usually and they were very informative.
- 6:06Speaker 1: And I'm just letting people know if I'm baking that fast.
- 6:09Speaker 1: And I just got the book on Tuesday, last Tuesday,
- 6:12Speaker 1: and just to show people, because you know, people think
- 6:14Speaker 1: you don't tell it. You Oh, he's just telling that
- 6:15Speaker 1: the patty. Today, I'm gonna bake the the great grandmother
- 6:19Speaker 1: Mariah's old fashioned pound cake. I'm thinking that today I'm
- 6:23Speaker 1: baking that to day and I'm gonna post it on
- 6:26Speaker 1: my social media Rush McDonald tomorrow morning with your book,
- 6:30Speaker 1: to let everybody know that I baked this cake. I
- 6:34Speaker 1: told Patty I was gonna do it on the radio.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Told Patty gonna do in my show. You need to
- 6:38Speaker 1: buy her books. That easy. So tell everybody about your book.
- 6:41Speaker 1: I'm just letting everybody know how easy is. Now. You
- 6:43Speaker 1: tell everybody about that book. Okay. The book is like
- 6:46Speaker 1: a family family books, family stories friends, most of them
- 6:52Speaker 1: who are no longer here, and like I've taken their
- 6:55Speaker 1: recipes and and hand them or whatever and made their
- 6:58Speaker 1: mind and the stories are just beautiful. And you know,
- 7:03Speaker 1: like the you red vether cake, that's the redemptest cake
- 7:07Speaker 1: because my sister Jackie and I didn't get along very well,
- 7:10Speaker 1: right and it's a long story, but we loved each
- 7:15Speaker 1: other so much. So she loved the that cake, the
- 7:20Speaker 1: red velvet cake until now when I make it, I
- 7:22Speaker 1: spell it and I found Jackie. So she comes back
- 7:26Speaker 1: to me that way in that cake. That's awesome. So
- 7:29Speaker 1: it's an emotional it's a journey. It's a journey in
- 7:31Speaker 1: the kitchen. It's a journed spiritually for you amazing. Now
- 7:35Speaker 1: let's talk about this album now again. It's a jazz album.
- 7:40Speaker 1: M and I got in front of me right here. Uh,
- 7:45Speaker 1: I love it and I'm gonna tell you the cut
- 7:48Speaker 1: I like the most because it's it's kind of like
- 7:50Speaker 1: it's kind of like, uh uh, misleading Tyler because it
- 7:53Speaker 1: says moaning. Cut number three. You know it's mislean because
- 7:57Speaker 1: you know where you go when you hear the word moaning.
- 7:59Speaker 1: But just ain't got no need to do with that
- 8:00Speaker 1: type of morning. This is about life. It's about telling
- 8:03Speaker 1: people I'm ready for a change, explains explained. Because the
- 8:06Speaker 1: reason I don't like, you know, CDs to buy, but
- 8:09Speaker 1: you know the album used to be read the words
- 8:11Speaker 1: and everything, because this is this is the CD that
- 8:14Speaker 1: you want the words with the CDs, Patty, This this
- 8:16Speaker 1: CD here is telling the story. Tell me about why
- 8:19Speaker 1: you went jazz on this CD. After ten years, After
- 8:23Speaker 1: ten years, I was waiting to exhale and the type
- 8:28Speaker 1: of music I would, you know, like to do. So
- 8:30Speaker 1: many people have brought so many things to me that
- 8:33Speaker 1: I said, no, I'm not ready to record that. So
- 8:36Speaker 1: I didn't feel that there was a rush after ten
- 8:38Speaker 1: years and making music because I'm very current and everybody
- 8:42Speaker 1: knows me as an honest person. I'm not going to
- 8:44Speaker 1: record stuff that I don't like. Although with the jazz album,
- 8:48Speaker 1: I was a little petrified because I've never seen jazz before,
- 8:52Speaker 1: so it took me a long time. I was fighting
- 8:54Speaker 1: with my ex cousin. He really wanted me to do
- 8:57Speaker 1: this project. I said, okay, so I listen all my
- 9:00Speaker 1: songs Nina Simone, James A. Moody and U just God,
- 9:07Speaker 1: so many older songs like forty years ago that I said, okay,
- 9:10Speaker 1: I'll bring some my mind to the table. And we
- 9:13Speaker 1: did it, and now I'm in love with it. But
- 9:15Speaker 1: tell me about moning. And that's a couple of more
- 9:17Speaker 1: I want to talk about too, But tell me about moaning.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Moaning is like like it says everybody knows a moaning,
- 9:24Speaker 1: you know. It's like you said, yeah, it's like, you know,
- 9:28Speaker 1: all day long, your moana, and at the end of it,
- 9:31Speaker 1: I'm saying, I'm not going to do that anymore. I
- 9:34Speaker 1: won't be moaning anymore. It's like it's like like a say,
- 9:38Speaker 1: a little pitiful moaning, you know, walking around all dreary.
- 9:42Speaker 1: That's what it means to me. Well, you know that
- 9:44Speaker 1: I liked it because you know, it's it's about that.
- 9:47Speaker 1: It's about sometimes you have to like relieve yourself, you know,
- 9:50Speaker 1: you have to like realize that you can't care the
- 9:53Speaker 1: burden of everything. That's why I kept I played this
- 9:55Speaker 1: on four times in a row when I heard it,
- 9:57Speaker 1: because each time I heard it, I heard a little
- 9:59Speaker 1: bit to me in it. And I want to tell
- 10:02Speaker 1: and I want to tell people about don't let the
- 10:03Speaker 1: word jazz scare you, because I'm gonna just tell you this, Patty.
- 10:08Speaker 1: When I heard the CD, all right, it sounded like
- 10:12Speaker 1: every time I've heard you in concert. The only difference
- 10:15Speaker 1: was I felt I was more intimate with you this time.
- 10:18Speaker 1: That was that was the difference in listening. I felt
- 10:20Speaker 1: I was close to you, and I felt like I
- 10:23Speaker 1: felt like I was the front row at a concert
- 10:25Speaker 1: when I heard this CD. And you know why, because
- 10:29Speaker 1: you know, whenever I've seen Rainbow, if only you knew,
- 10:32Speaker 1: And all I go, like all those big Patty sounds right,
- 10:37Speaker 1: I was subdued and kind of quiet, which I ended
- 10:42Speaker 1: up liking. That's the big Patty can sit down now
- 10:44Speaker 1: for me. But but I'm I'm writing what I'm saying
- 10:47Speaker 1: then that that that that that that you pulled me
- 10:50Speaker 1: in with the CD. And I want people to understand
- 10:52Speaker 1: when you hear the word jazz. It's on stores this Friday. Now,
- 10:55Speaker 1: this Friday, this CD is in stores, this first CD
- 10:58Speaker 1: in ten years. When you when get it, I want
- 11:01Speaker 1: you to put it in your car. I want you

- 11:18Speaker 1: be doing concerts and little clubs. Thank you, Thank you
- 11:24Speaker 1: so that I can touch you when I'm singing with
- 11:26Speaker 1: my hand. Thank you. You know. I didn't want to
- 11:30Speaker 1: say that because you're an one like you know, like
- 11:32Speaker 1: like like give a bad vibe and that. But in
- 11:35Speaker 1: my mind I said, boy, I wished Patty could be
- 11:37Speaker 1: a small club with the CD. I saw a Deadflick special.
- 11:41Speaker 1: This is why I saw. I saw a Netflix special.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Lot tell tell all your business people. I saw a
- 11:46Speaker 1: Netflix special. Lie paddler bell by five hundred people, by

- 12:02Speaker 1: know what I'm saying to go, But you know what
- 12:06Speaker 1: I would love to like I said, like sixty people
- 12:09Speaker 1: in the room chokes me. You know that's that's that
- 12:13Speaker 1: kind of place. That's that's what I'll do. That other
- 12:16Speaker 1: one too, that's right there. Now I'm gonna to you
- 12:18Speaker 1: some cutting number four until I get it right. Oh,
- 12:25Speaker 1: come on, come see that kind of went a little
- 12:27Speaker 1: rainbow but stayed down. And I'm gonna just tell you
- 12:31Speaker 1: this a little country to me too, because you know
- 12:36Speaker 1: what that was Reba McIntyre and why knowing the judge
- 12:39Speaker 1: did the song and when I heard it, I said,
- 12:42Speaker 1: I'm doing this song. You know. It's a song and
- 12:44Speaker 1: it's about keep on falling in love until you get
- 12:47Speaker 1: somebody right, over and over and over again. And sometimes
- 12:52Speaker 1: you never find that person. But I'll keep on loving
- 12:54Speaker 1: you till I get it right. Wow, I'll keep on
- 12:58Speaker 1: loving just period until he did. They holding up to
