  of 1 Thessalonians 5, 9. Just singling out this

  one verse. 1 Thessalonians 5, 9. It says, For

  God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining

  salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. So,

  wrath is not anger. It's not God being ticked
• 0:24
  off at us or He's mad at us. Rather, wrath is
• 0:28
  opposition. Wrath is when someone is violently
• 0:32
  opposing your current course of action, or maybe
• 0:36
  even your existence in some case. And that's
• 0:39
  not what God made us for. If you're hearing this
• 0:42
  message today, it's because the gospel was ordained
• 0:45
  to take root in your life. That Jesus Christ,
• 0:49
  as the Son of God, was ordained to be your Savior,
• 0:53
  to save you from your sins. to empower you to
• 0:57
  walk a life and a life more abundant. That's
• 0:59
  what he came for. We were not destined for wrath,

  not for the opposition of God. When we do things
• 1:04
  against ourselves, God loves us, and then wrath
• 1:07
  comes in, and it stops and works against our
• 1:10
  present course of action. When we do things ungodly,
• 1:13
  then God, by his very nature, must resist. And
• 1:16
  God's whole creation is designed to resist ungodly
• 1:20
  behavior. There are a lot of people that figure
• 1:22
  out how to manipulate creation and get away because
• 1:25
  of its fallen nature with doing the foolish things
• 1:27
  that they want to do. But they only get away
• 1:31
  for a while because they're destined for wrath.

  And we are not destined for wrath, but rather
• 1:37
  for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus
• 1:39
  Christ. Enjoy that salvation that has been made
• 1:42
  available to you and know that God is for you,
• 1:45
  not against you.
