- 0:00These playoffs, and I mean both legitimately
- 0:03and metaphorically, have been fucking killing
- 0:08me. They absolutely kill me. Not only with how
- 0:13late it is, because you know, Eastern Standard
- 0:14Time, we're all, you know, open as fuck right
- 0:16now. But, and just how much they drag the fuck
- 0:20on. I love the playoffs. I love them. You know,
- 0:24they're so energetic. They're so fun. But my
- 0:27God, guys, you are killing me. I'm going to have
- 0:31more gray hairs on my head by the time the cup
- 0:34was sifted. I swear to God. Imagine if our penguins
- 0:37were still in it. I'd be all gray. Nothing else.
- 0:40How do we do this two years in a row? We actually
- 0:45had a team that was good. But they had been fun,
- 0:49though. Again, I love the hockey playoffs. I
- 0:53love them. But it's stressed me the fuck out.
- 0:56That first round between... Winnipeg and St.
- 0:59Louis was crazy. The second round between, we're
- 1:02about to see game seven tonight, between Toronto
- 1:03and Florida has been insane. It's just been back
- 1:06and forth, back and forth. The Dallas series
- 1:11was pretty intense. That one, what was that last
- 1:15night that ended? Yeah. Winnipeg and six. Carolina,
- 1:21that's one I didn't catch. I didn't catch much
- 1:23of the Carolina -Washington series. That series
- 1:25was boring. Carolina just kind of kicked the
- 1:29shit out of Washington up and down the ice for
- 1:3118 periods. Outside of game two, Carolina was
- 1:37the more dominant team. Hands down. Freddie was
- 1:41being Freddie. Carolina's defense is phenomenal.
- 1:44Shut down Washington's top six. Their offense,
- 1:47they were rolling. They were cooking. Carolina
- 1:50was keeping their cool, not letting the Caps'
- 1:53shenanigans get to them. I like round one against
- 1:57Montreal. They let Tom Wilson get to them. Look
- 2:02what happened. But yeah, just looking at Carolina,
- 2:05they were a really, really competitive team there
- 2:10against Washington. And obviously it shows with
- 2:13them moving on to round two against whoever the
- 2:15Titans winners are. The series has been... This
- 2:19series has been violent. It's been brutal. I
- 2:23honestly think that Carolina might be going to
- 2:26the final regardless just because these two teams,
- 2:29regardless of the winner tonight, are so beat
- 2:32up from this series and so ran down from this
- 2:35series. I don't see either one of these two teams
- 2:38make it to the final just because of this series
- 2:40alone. This series has been probably the most
- 2:43fun to watch in these playoffs and probably the
- 2:46most... It's the most energizing and just the
- 2:50most physical series I have seen in quite some
- 2:54time. These two teams, you can tell clearly they
- 2:59do not like each other. No. Nobody really likes
- 3:04Florida right now. I think they're a bunch of
- 3:05goons. In all honesty, putting my jokes and my
- 3:11love for laughing at Leafs aside, The biggest
- 3:18reason... You're more or less laughing at the
- 3:19fans. Oh, yeah. But that comes with the territory.
- 3:22But putting all that bullshit aside, you know,
- 3:25one of the biggest... I really want Florida to
- 3:27advance just because, you know, seeing that Eastern
- 3:33Conference final matchup between Sergey Bobrovsky
- 3:36of the Florida Panthers and fucking Freddie Anderson
- 3:39of the Carolina Hurricanes. Two veteran goalies
- 3:42that have been around for a while. Yep. Obviously,
- 3:44just the one cup to Sergei and nothing to Freddie
- 3:48yet. Yet. Oh, I don't know why I knocked on wood,
- 3:52but yet. So that would be a goaltending matchup
- 3:57dream. I think that's one of the only things
- 4:01I would not hate to see Florida go back -to -back
- 4:03is to see Bob raise another one. As much as I
- 4:06don't want to see Brad get another one, or as
- 4:08much as I don't want to see Kachuk get another
- 4:09one, or Sam Bennett get another one. I did gain
- 4:14a lot of respect for both Kachuk brothers after
- 4:16the Four Nations. I still don't really like Brady.
- 4:20Matthew, I never really had anything much against
- 4:22Matthew. I've always sided with him. I've never
- 4:26liked Brady. I've never liked Brady. You had
- 4:31to cheer him on there in the Four Nations. It
- 4:34was fun to see when you're cheering for that
- 4:36team, but now that they're in Florida, I don't
- 4:38give a shit about him. Or he's in Ottawa, don't
- 4:40give a shit about him. He can stay out there.
- 4:45Nothing to talk about. We know, as we predicted
- 4:49pretty much the last month and a half, two months,
- 4:51the London Knights are your reigning back -to
- 4:53-back J. Rob Robertson champions. As we predicted
- 4:58at the very beginning of the series. I saw they
- 5:00are now tied for the most in recent modern OHL.
- 5:07I know... D .O. Hunter is tied for the most.
- 5:12J. Ross Robertson as head coach. But, yeah, that
- 5:17was pretty predictable. I'm glad Oscar Davis...
- 5:20I mean, I think I had said that halfway through
- 5:22the season when they started off, what was it,
- 5:23like, fucking 35 -2 or whatever. That ridiculous
- 5:27right wasn't that bad, but that ridiculous 35
- 5:29-10 record that they had to start the season,
- 5:32I was like, they're going to repeat. And here
- 5:35we are. I mean, Oshawa took that first game away.
- 5:38It's funny because the day after I said, you
- 5:40guys are allowed to lose a game, they lost the
- 5:42game. So I think it was the day after, the night
- 5:45that this would have been live, or the day after
- 5:47that episode went live, they lost. I'll take
- 5:51a little bit of credit for that, just a little
- 5:53bit. They didn't get swept like they did last
- 5:55year against London. They did not want to lose
- 5:58on home ice is what they were fighting for. Are
- 6:03we shocked that that happened? We said at the
- 6:06beginning of the playoffs that London is the
- 6:08best team in the league for a reason. We got
- 6:12together for just a little small get -together
- 6:14last night. We just bullshitted for a little
- 6:15bit. We were talking about first we started talking
- 6:18about Malcolm Spence who committed to Michigan
- 6:20State. Or not Michigan State, Michigan. Thursday,
- 6:24May 8th was when Oshawa beat London. It was a
- 6:28couple days after this last episode went live.
- 6:32Yeah, we were talking about Malcolm Spence being
- 6:34committed to Michigan. Why did it have to be
- 6:36Michigan, Malcolm? I love you, man, but why did
- 6:38it have to be Michigan? Best of luck, but fuck
- 6:41you, Michigan. Second, then we brought up, we're
- 6:44like, there should be absolutely no reason that
- 6:47London is this good again next year. Are they
- 6:51still going to be a playoff team? Yeah, without
- 6:52a shadow of a doubt, yes. They're still going
- 6:54to be a playoff team. Are they still going to
- 6:55be probably a top four seed at home? At least
- 6:58the first round of playoffs at home? More than
- 7:00likely, yes. But there should be no reason at
- 7:02all that they are a number one seed again next
- 7:04year. Not number one nor number two. I can still
- 7:08see them being a four, maybe having to drop down
- 7:10to the five and not getting any home series.
- 7:13But there should be no reason that they are 50
- 7:17-18 again or 50 -4, whatever the record was this
- 7:21year. There should be no reason that that happens
- 7:23again. Especially with Kitchener still going
- 7:27to be probably even more stacked next year. This
- 7:30conference is tough. Well, technically that season
- 7:33was the season Kitchener was supposed to be in
- 7:35the rebuild. They were supposed to be a rebuild
- 7:37team. So, you know, anywhere between five and
- 7:40eight. And they finished second. This year they
- 7:43finished third. Oh, third, sorry. This year was
- 7:46third in the conference. I think last year was
- 7:48second. Well, either way, they finished third.
- 7:50So, you're right. Kitchener is going to be even
- 7:53more stacked. I mean, granted, they're losing
- 7:55their away goaltender, Jackson Parsons, but...
- 7:59I mean, yeah, the two teams to beat next year
- 8:00are going to be Windsor and Kitchener. Maybe
- 8:03even, I mean, Barry's in the other conference,
- 8:06but they show that they're going to be a team
- 8:07to beat. They prove that. Brampton's going to
- 8:10be a team to beat. Oshawa, I think, is still
- 8:11going to be a team to beat. Brantford is going
- 8:14to be up there. The East is starting to get stronger
- 8:17over time. I mean, obviously, any team's going
- 8:20to get stronger. With the exception of Niagara,
- 8:23but Niagara is Niagara. And Saginaw is still
- 8:26a great team. Are they going to be as good as
- 8:30they were this year? I don't know. We'll see
- 8:31about that. I think we all know the Otters aren't
- 8:34going to be as good as we were this year, unfortunately.
- 8:37I hope and I don't think we're going to be bad
- 8:40enough to miss the playoffs again. I said we're
- 8:43probably going to be lower seeded. We'll probably
- 8:45be seventh -eighth seeded again next year, but
- 8:47I don't see us. fighting for that fourth seed
- 8:49at all next year. We'd be fighting, I think,
- 8:52for a sixth seed at best. Prove me wrong. I hope
- 8:54they prove me wrong, but that's... Potentially
- 8:57fighting to be a first round against London next
- 9:00year with the third or fourth seeded London.
- 9:04But that's, again, if we're lucky. But yeah,
- 9:08it's definitely going to be interesting going
- 9:12into... Yeah, we're now losing Malcolm Spence.
- 9:14We are obviously already guaranteed to lose...
- 9:17Pano, Marty, and Alfie. Potentially going to
- 9:20be losing Schaefer. Potentially going to be losing
- 9:22Carey. Again, that all depends on how Anaheim
- 9:27they want to work out on his contract with us.
- 9:33It's going to be a rough one. It's going to be
- 9:35tough to figure out, especially that bottom six,
- 9:38too. And then the defensemen as a whole are going
- 9:41to be jumbled to bits. It's going to be a rough
- 9:45one. I mean, I have faith in Chris Millett and
- 9:48what he can do with this roster and what he can
- 9:50do with a full season with this roster. Because
- 9:53this weekend we just had our draftees orientation
- 9:58camp this weekend. I saw on our local news was
- 10:04interviewing, he's like, I don't know much about
- 10:07these guys yet, but he's like, they got to show
- 10:11me. if they really want to play next year and
- 10:17stuff like that. I'm sure they've got to really
- 10:21amaze me. Open scrimmages again, hopefully we'll
- 10:25usually do those July, August, those open scrimmage
- 10:31games. I will see the actual roster get to play
- 10:34right before preseason. I'll definitely be there
- 10:39again because I'll be able to go because I did
- 10:42renew my season ticket for this upcoming season
- 10:45for my third season with the off year. So four
- 10:49years, technically, but not... I mean, I went
- 10:51to... Still went to a majority of games last
- 10:52year, but... Basically, these guys helped hook
- 10:55me up with some of their tickets for even one
- 10:57that they didn't use. It's going to be tough
- 11:01for the Otters next year. I mean, I really...
- 11:05I do have faith in these boys, man. I'm going
- 11:06to stand by them no matter what happens. I know
- 11:09you guys are with me on that one. I've got to
- 11:14stop saying um so much. It's going to be tough.
- 11:21It's going to be very tough to see what this
- 11:23team can put together. Again, I have faith in
- 11:26Coach Chris Millett to see what he can do with
- 11:29a full season with this very tough to manage
- 11:34roster. We'll see. I know we were talking also
- 11:38briefly yesterday. Depending on The whole O .A.
- 11:43situation. I think Auditor's Tracker, shout out
- 11:47to you. I don't know if you listen to this, but
- 11:49you had tweeted out about a joke. You said Wesley
- 11:52Royston breakout season. I hope so. I think that'd
- 11:56be hilarious to see. But we were talking, me
- 11:58and Colin, I told him, I said it all depends
- 11:59on if we decide to keep Messier as one of our
- 12:03O .A.'s, which I don't see it happening. I really
- 12:06don't see it happening just based on his discipline
- 12:09issues. He is one of our enforcers, one of our
- 12:13power forwards, our guys that are meant to stick
- 12:16up for this team and drop the gloves when he
- 12:18needs to. If he ends up being one that stays,
- 12:22then I think that gives Wesley the opportunity
- 12:25to start being more of that playmaker, goal scorer
- 12:28type of guy. If not, then if Wesley... If Messi
- 12:32ends up leaving, then Wesley can continue to
- 12:34be the role that he has. Be that fighter, be
- 12:37that power forward, be the guy that drops the
- 12:40glove when he needs to. We also said that we've
- 12:44seen Sauter drop the gloves a fair share amount
- 12:47of times. Is he a very good fighter? Sorry, Nathan.
- 12:50No, you're not very good, buddy. He's one of
- 12:53those leaders that's like, okay. He will take
- 12:55the punches for his team. He will be the one
- 12:57to drop the gloves. I don't appreciate that you
- 12:59did this to my teammate. Here, I'll take a couple
- 13:02fisticuffs. He can get some punches in, but he
- 13:05does not often win a fight. I think I've seen
- 13:09him fight maybe five, six times in the last two
- 13:11years, and I think he's... one, maybe one of
- 13:13them. But he's going to shit rock the other four
- 13:16or five. He's agreeing. He is that guy that he
- 13:21will drop the gloves if he needs to to defend
- 13:23his team. But he is not going to win that fight.
- 13:26Wesley can't. I don't think I've seen Wesley
- 13:27lose a fight. Him and Messi, man. Those boys
- 13:31don't lose fights. My favorite thing is going
- 13:35back to the Peterborough game last year. And
- 13:38seeing, you know, Messi go up and grab him by
- 13:40the fronts of their jerseys and just back and
- 13:42forth and fucking back and forth. He went after
- 13:45the one, but then that third guy decided to be
- 13:47third man in and also was like, hey, I went in
- 13:49on this and Messi goes, I bet. Fuck you, let's
- 13:52go. Fucking rock 'em, sock 'em robots with two
- 13:54of them. Two reds and one blue. Rock 'em, sock
- 13:59'em Peterborough, right? Rock 'em, sock 'em Pete's.
- 14:05still mad that I ended up missing that game.
- 14:07Because I think we had a Saturday -Sunday home
- 14:09-home two games in a row. I think I ended up
- 14:11going, oh, I can go to one or the other. I ended
- 14:13up going to that Saturday night game. Which I
- 14:15think we still ended up winning that Saturday
- 14:16night game, too. But I was very, Colin's like,
- 14:19you guys should be very upset you didn't make
- 14:21it to this game. I was watching it. Colin was
- 14:22the only one there, so. Yeah, exactly. I figured,
- 14:25at least. Wasn't the only thing on there. Well,
- 14:27yeah. Thankfully, but. Now, I remember talking
- 14:30to a couple of the guys around, and, you know,
- 14:32the guy next to me asked me, I was like, you
- 14:34know, I need to ask him about this coach, and
- 14:35I was kind of telling him, you know. And then
- 14:37I turned, looked down, and I'm like, oh, oh,
- 14:40shit, the coaches are fighting. Oh, shit, the
- 14:42coaches are fighting. Listen to him talk about
- 14:47it on the Out There Record podcast. It was just
- 14:50hilarious. He goes, he just, he just. Soon as
- 14:52he starts talking to Wes, and he was turning
- 14:54his left to start talking to Ken, and he sees
- 14:57Peter Burrell's coach standing at their door,
- 14:59yelling at him. So he's like, I had to go over
- 15:02there and see what was up. And he's just laughing
- 15:05the entire time, too. You can see it on the telecast.
- 15:09You can see it on the broadcast. Smiling as they're
- 15:16talking. I love this coach, man. I'm very excited
- 15:28to see what he can do. Fresh heads, fresh season.
- 15:32Get the off -season out of the way. The off -season
- 15:35out of the way. Get fresh new heads. Get these
- 15:39boys where they need to be for next season. I'm
- 15:42sure we will see how preseason looks and how
- 15:44these scrimmage games work. Depending on my work
- 15:49schedule, depending on when they host those,
- 15:50I'm definitely going to try to be at those. If
- 15:53we even get any home preseason games this year,
- 15:55I know we didn't last year because we did all
- 15:58three years prior to that. I know not all teams
- 16:02get to host preseason games. The way they do
- 16:05it, I think it's still stupid. A lot of the rules
- 16:08in the NHL are stupid. 2, 5, 10, fuck you. Yeah.
- 16:15Real quick before we get into the... current
- 16:17playoffs that are going on. One that we forgot
- 16:21to mention with the London Knights, San Jose
- 16:24Sharks prospect Casper Holtman. He's the first
- 16:29CHL import draft player to win the Wayne Gretzky
- 16:3299 award in the OHL history. Who? They gave it
- 16:36to Holtman? Yeah. Really? Yeah, they gave it
- 16:40to him. I definitely would have seen it go to
- 16:41either Cowan or Dickinson or something. Yeah.
- 16:44Like I said, he did have a rabble of a playoff
- 16:46run. He did very well this year. He kicked our
- 16:50ass all four games. He was the first CHL import
- 16:55draft to win the Wayne Gretzky 99 award. That's
- 16:59pretty cool. That's pretty awesome. Moving on
- 17:04to talk more in depth about these NHL playoffs
- 17:07we got going on. Starting from the East, we know
- 17:10we had briefly mentioned Carolina more or less
- 17:12kicked Washington's ass up and down the ice for
- 17:14five games. One game Washington took was game
- 17:17two in Washington, a 3 -1 win. Other than that,
- 17:202 -1 win, 4 -0 win, 5 -2 win, and 3 -1 win in
- 17:25favor of the Carolina Hurricanes. Moving on to
- 17:28the final four. I don't know what the hell I
- 17:31just saw on my TV. The freaking pulp is in there,
- 17:34man. It's nasty. That stash, though, is fantastic.
- 17:38Dude, what a fucking beauty, man. It is. He's
- 17:41such a fucking beauty. Such a beauty. Washington
- 17:45didn't stand a chance against Carolina. I thought
- 17:47they were going to put up a little bit more of
- 17:48a fight than that. I think most of us said that
- 17:50that was going to be a seven -game series in
- 17:52the last episode. It was not. Hold on. Hold on.
- 17:55I'm sorry to interrupt, but I kind of want to
- 17:58see this because apparently he's on the air right
- 18:01now lighting a memorial for the Core 5. Paul,
- 18:09Biz Nasty, I know you're a big Toronto fan. Like,
- 18:14you're all for Toronto. But this is not how you
- 18:20do it, you fucking weirdo. I saw this, just looking
- 18:25at this Maple Leafs player right now, all these
- 18:27fans going crazy right now. I saw a post, I think
- 18:30it was on a TikTok. It said, name a sports city
- 18:34that would absolutely lose their shit, damn near
- 18:37burn their fucking minds if they win a championship.
- 18:42Toronto. Toronto is going to be insane if they
- 18:47pull this thing off. Downtown Toronto is no longer
- 18:51going to exist if the Toronto Maple Leafs pull
- 18:53this off. The whole thing, not just this game.
- 18:57They're going to out -Philly you. Philly, pretty
- 19:00much. Philly will lose their shit. They win or
- 19:02lose. Again, they're going to out -Philly you
- 19:05Philly. Downtown Toronto is going to be unrecognizable.
- 19:10If Toronto wins this Cup. That's what they mean
- 19:13by the Philly special. Instead of Philly, Philly,
- 19:18what are they going to yell? Toronto, Toronto.
- 19:22E -A -G -L -S, Eagles, right? You know why they
- 19:27call it Philly, right? Because the people that
- 19:30live there can't spell Philadelphia. I can't
- 19:31spell Philadelphia. Exactly. That's the nicest
- 19:37thing you can say about Philadelphia. You good?
- 19:43Going to the Winnipeg... Are you good? No. Actually,
- 19:52some of us had to work today. Thank you, fucking
- 19:54Bones. Unlike Bob, who obviously has only got
- 19:58to show up once. One shot in 11 minutes a game.
- 20:03So going to the Winnipeg Jets and the Dallas
- 20:07Stars series. Again, what an entertaining series.
- 20:13Really entertaining. Obviously with the Jets
- 20:16winning games 2 and 5. Actually both with the
- 20:21final score 4 -0. And then Dallas winning the
- 20:25rest. 3 -2, 5 -2, 3 -1, 2 -1, N -O -T off of
- 20:33Mark Scheifele tripping penalty. That really,
- 20:37honestly, really has to strike it far. Because
- 20:39only, what, a minute and a half into overtime?
- 20:41It was something like that? Something like that,
- 20:44because, like, the tripping penalty came in,
- 20:46like, within the last, like... I got the notification
- 20:49on my phone that it was going to overtime, and
- 20:51I went to turn it on, and it was already shaking
- 20:54hands. Yeah, Mark Strifey took a tripping penalty
- 20:57with 15 seconds set in regulation, and then the
- 21:00goal came a minute 33 into... Which, by the way,
- 21:06condolences to Mark Scheifele and his entire
- 21:08family. That, I mean, just completely unexpected
- 21:11death of his father. You know, the thing I saw,
- 21:15he literally called his coach or called his team
- 21:18that night, prayed them in there and says, I'm
- 21:20playing tonight. And, you know, he went out there
- 21:23and scored Winnipeg's only goal of the game.
- 21:26Unfortunately, it was not enough as Dallas took
- 21:29that one in overtime. Sadly, based on a penalty
- 21:32caused by Mark Scheifele. What an amazing series
- 21:36that one was, man. 4 -2, Dallas takes it. Dallas
- 21:39in the final four for the third year in a row,
- 21:41I believe, if I'm not mistaken. Yeah, third year
- 21:43in a row and three of the last five, because
- 21:452020 and then 23, now 25. And then, moving over
- 21:53to the other finished series in the West, Edmonton
- 21:57taking down, thankfully, the Vegas Golden Knights.
- 22:01Thank... Christ. I know I'm rocking the jersey
- 22:04tonight, but I don't care. Thank God Vegas is
- 22:07down. You don't like Vegas anymore? I'm sorry.
- 22:11Ever since the whole IR, Mark Stone, and the
- 22:15whole bullshit, I'm done with them. I know it's
- 22:18a reason a lot of people hate them now, is that
- 22:20whole situation. Yeah, between that and them
- 22:23practically trading up Mark 100 for pretty much
- 22:26crumpled up one, happy, uncrustable. A crumpled
- 22:32up one and a half even Uncrustable. No, they
- 22:35give you an Uncrustable with the crust. Yeah,
- 22:39but like, just how they treated the whole situation,
- 22:42you know? I just don't like them. For some reason,
- 22:47I saw their future in Robin Lehner and I don't
- 22:49think he's played a game for them since. Nope.
- 22:52I'm wondering if he had a gambling problem. Yeah,
- 22:56he... Learn some skills from Evander Kane. I'm
- 23:01no gambling man, but I think Manor might be a
- 23:05snake. I'm not a gambling man, but I'd bet you
- 23:08any money that... But yeah, it was almost...
- 23:12No, not really a gambling sweep. Vegas took Game
- 23:173 and ended it in 4 -3 off a goal with .4 seconds
- 23:23left. I saw that one. crazy point four second
- 23:28set and then obviously edmunds from one one the
- 23:32last four four four two five four in ot three
- 23:36nothing and a casper captain seer game winner
- 23:41series winner one nothing in game five in the
- 23:44fortress insane which i wish she'd be able to
- 23:49do that for pittsburgh but no so we obviously
- 23:51know brown room Conference Finals in the West,
- 23:55we got the Edmonton Oilers and the Dallas Stars.
- 23:58Starting on Wednesday night, Game 1 in Dallas.
- 24:01Who do we have winning this series? Is Otter
- 24:05going to keep playing the way that he's been
- 24:07playing? I'm going to stick to my bracket. I
- 24:10think Dallas takes this one. Yeah, it's going
- 24:12to be Dallas. I know they are neck and neck.
- 24:20I know the bets, the odds, they're both at minus
- 24:24110. Skater -wise, they're kind of even, pretty
- 24:28even. I know Edmonton, yes, has more offensive
- 24:32firepower. Dallas has some better defense. I'd
- 24:36say goaltending is much better than Dallas. You
- 24:40need defense in these playoffs, man. Dallas,
- 24:44I think, has a much stronger defense. If Mira
- 24:48Heichkinen wasn't back, It might be questionable.
- 24:51You've got Miro Hishkin, you've got Thomas Harley,
- 24:53you've got fucking S .L. Endell. I mean, Cody
- 24:56Seabin has been playing pretty well. Dallas is
- 25:03a better team just all around. They are a better
- 25:06team. I mean, Edmonton's defense is still pretty
- 25:08good as well. But you have names like Darnell
- 25:11Nurse and freaking Evan Bouchard. Other than
- 25:15that. And again, I'm going to keep going back
- 25:21to this statement because it's fucking true.
- 25:23Anywhere else, both those names would be third
- 25:26pair of D -men best. Tops. They would be trash
- 25:30anywhere else. At this point, I mean, yeah, he's
- 25:33old at this point, but when you go to a team
- 25:35like Dallas and Jamie Benn is not even one of
- 25:37the first maybe six names that you mention from
- 25:39that team anymore. Back five, four, five years
- 25:42ago, he might have been one of the first names
- 25:43you mentioned. But now he's not even one of the
- 25:45first seven, I can find him seven, eight players
- 25:47before him. You've got Wyatt Johnson, you've
- 25:49got Miko Rantanen, obviously you've got, as we
- 25:51said, Thomas Harley, Esa Lindell, Miro Heskinen,
- 25:54you've got Jason Robertson, you've got Jake Audier.
- 25:56You're like, oh yeah, I forgot to have Jamie
- 25:57Benn still. They still have Jamie Benn and Tyler
- 26:02Sagan. That's another one. I can't believe I
- 26:05forgot Tyler Sagan. They still have fucking Tyler
- 26:07Sagan in there. That's crazy. He's only, what,
- 26:0932 years old? Yeah, he's still. And he still
- 26:11forgot to mention it? I think that's what's crazy
- 26:12about Dallas. Just how much depth they have.
- 26:16They have so much depth, man. All these guys
- 26:19are still very young, too. And there's still
- 26:22a bunch of prospects in there. With Texas. They're
- 26:25going to be a good team for quite some time,
- 26:26man. I mean, I've even seen Christian Cairo is
- 26:29doing very well down in Texas. Who? Exactly.
- 26:32He's doing very, very well in the AHL right now.
- 26:34That whole team is doing very well in the AHL.
- 26:37As Bob makes another great save on a breakaway
- 26:39from, was that Nylander? No, Stephen Lorenz.
- 26:44But, I mean, as I said, we just got to wait for
- 26:47the final of this series. Hopefully, we have
- 26:48a winner. Because that's right, we didn't want
- 26:51to talk about this. How Game 7 of the Winnipeg
- 26:54St. Louis series ended up. happening, because
- 26:57I think we cut recording literally shortly before
- 27:00that game -winning goal was scored. That second
- 27:03overtime was just as crazy as that first one.
- 27:05I remember, oh my god. I think it was literally,
- 27:07we said, alright, we're not going to be able
- 27:08to have the result. Literally five minutes after
- 27:11we hit stop recording and scheduled to post it,
- 27:15Winnipeg scored. I'm literally getting ready
- 27:17to walk out and start heading home. Winnipeg
- 27:19shoots and scores the game -winner. Just unbelievable,
- 27:23man. I think Dallas, because I didn't say what
- 27:28I said, I think Dallas will probably win this
- 27:31series. Obviously, I had Edmonton going all the
- 27:34way, but I think, in all honesty, it's going
- 27:36to be Dallas. I think you originally had Colorado
- 27:39beating Dallas, didn't you? No. Did you have
- 27:42Dallas from the beginning? I had Dallas from
- 27:43the beginning. I know the whole world, I think
- 27:46it was 50. That was one series where the whole
- 27:48world was like, damn near 50 -50 split on. That
- 27:51one was just such a tough one to call. And ended
- 27:53up being right because that one was one of the
- 27:55two in round one that went to seven games. I
- 27:58think only two did. I think it was Winnipeg and
- 28:01then Dallas. Yeah, all the other ones didn't
- 28:04except for Winnipeg, St. Louis, Dallas, Colorado.
- 28:08I think we're the only two that went to seven.
- 28:09Yeah. Everybody else went to six or, I mean,
- 28:13three of the four series and East went to five.
- 28:16Yeah, I don't think there was a sweep that was
- 28:18there. Yeah, there was not a single sweep this
- 28:19year. Three series went to five, three series
- 28:22went to six, and two went to seven. We could
- 28:24be completely wrong. We could go into this and
- 28:26Connor McDavid could be Connor McDavid and carry
- 28:31them to a sweep. I mean, who knows? Jay Gottinger
- 28:34might lose whatever magic he has going right
- 28:36now. You never know what's going to happen in
- 28:40these playoffs, man. You really don't. Anything
- 28:43can happen. Hey, for your first period intermission
- 28:47entertainment, do our normal Puck Doku hurdle.
- 28:52Depending on how quickly we get this done, we'll
- 28:54do the pyramid on here. If you guys want to play
- 28:58along, go ahead and pull up Sunday, May 18th's
- 29:01game, and feel free to play along. Going for
- 29:05the columns, it's going to be St. Louis, the
- 29:07Shorts, and Minnesota, Minnesota. And then for
- 29:12the rows, it's going to be Detroit, Carolina,
- 29:15and CBJ. For Detroit St. Louis, David Perron.
- 29:20Yeah. Wait, wait. Oh, no, you're right. I thought
- 29:25I said the wrong one. No, no, I'm right. I'm
- 29:28not writing the type, but I'm writing the column.
- 29:31Can't spell David. Eric Stahl, Carolina, Minnesota.
- 29:42Great. I believe. Yep. And then didn't Cam Talbot
- 29:50do Minnesota there for a little while as well
- 29:52as Detroit? Yep, Cam Talbot. Jake Wallman, Detroit,
- 30:00San Jose. We cooking, we cooking. Not for much
- 30:10longer probably. Carolina, San Jose. Brent Burns.
- 30:14Yeah. Justin Falk. Didn't he do St. Louis, Carolina?
- 30:28Carolina? Justin Falk. I thought he was in Carolina
- 30:30there for a hot minute. Was he? Yeah, I think
- 30:37you're right. I think he was there before St.
- 30:39Louis. Good job. So we just need the whole Columbus
- 30:50row. So Columbus, St. Louis, Columbus, San Jose,
- 30:53Columbus, Minnesota. Did Jack Johnson play for
- 31:01any of the teams on top? Obviously he played
- 31:05with Columbus, but did he play for Minnesota?
- 31:07Oh, no, he didn't play for San Jose. I don't
- 31:11think so. That could be like a... A last second
- 31:15burner, I guess, if we have nothing else. Corposalo
- 31:25has only been, what, Columbus, Ottawa? Ottawa,
- 31:29Boston. Boston, too, that's right. Bob has only
- 31:35been, what, Philly? Philly, Columbus, Toronto,
- 31:38Florida. Bob had a stay with Toronto? No, I'm
- 31:42sorry, I'm thinking of Freddie. Because Freddie
- 31:45did Anaheim, Toronto. Anderson. I don't think.
- 31:54Voracek was only Florida. Oh, not Florida. Philly,
- 31:57Columbus. Started and finished in Columbus. Same
- 32:02thing with Cam Atkinson. Or Atkinson, whatever.
- 32:15I might have to go down and drink one of my ghosts
- 32:18or make my pre -workout. I'm starting to die.
- 32:24The team who never played for Columbus. Rick
- 32:30Nash. I think it was only... Columbus, Boston.
- 32:35New York. The Rangers. The Rags. I'm thinking
- 32:45goalie has to go somewhere here. But where? Antony
- 32:51Yemi, I don't think he ever played for Columbus.
- 32:54Jake Allen played for St. Louis, Montreal, New
- 32:57Jersey. I don't think he played for Columbus.
- 33:03I'm trying to think of journeyman goaltenders.
- 33:10Jonathan Quick with his... Long stint in Columbus.
- 33:14Columbus with Jackets legend. Why am I trying
- 33:16to think? It's only game. Why do you have to
- 33:18be so mad? Oh, um... Oh... What the hell? Brizgalov.
- 33:23Ilya Brizgalov, dude. I have no idea where all
- 33:25he played. He... Philly, Columbus, Arizona...
- 33:30Brian Elliott, I know he jumped around. Brent
- 33:40Johnson has been around. Tomas Vukun's been around.
- 33:44I think Vukun was only like three or four different
- 33:46teams. He wasn't around too much. Still, there's
- 33:48a few teams. Tim Thomas played for St. Louis,
- 33:52Boston. Dallas. Anybody playing along is screaming
- 34:03a name into their phone right now. There's somebody
- 34:07screaming. It's this guy, you fucking moron!
- 34:10This kind of thing. I know for a fact there's
- 34:12somebody screaming a name right now. I can't.
- 34:17I'm blanking so hard. I'm going to go snort a
- 34:20line of free workout. I'm only kidding. I'm only
- 34:23kidding. That is really irresponsible. I'm trying
- 34:29to remember. Zach Gorinsky. I think his whole
- 34:33career has been out there. Okay. What about Seth
- 34:36Jones? I think he's only done Columbus, Chicago.
- 34:39Florida. Bobby Lou obviously wouldn't fit there
- 34:43anywhere. Claude Drew won't fit because he's
- 34:49only been in Ottawa. Yeah, Claude Drew is nowhere.
- 34:53Yeah. He's only been in Philly, Florida, Ottawa.
- 34:59I don't know why I just thought of him. We're
- 35:04naming other flyers with Atkinson and Borchek.
- 35:10Like a Daniel Breer. I know he jumped around.
- 35:14Buffalo Philly. Was it just Buffalo and Philly?
- 35:16Just Buffalo and Philly. I swear, I thought he
- 35:19played at a stint with St. Louis at least. No.
- 35:21Oh, did James Neal play for Columbus? No. No?
- 35:26I know he had a very short stint with St. Louis.
- 35:30Very short. He was down in my 18 game, something
- 35:32like that, stint with St. Louis. Joe Morrow.
- 35:36Castor Kapanen never played for Columbus. I'm
- 35:43trying to think, like, early Columbus days. Don't
- 35:50mind me. Oh, yeah. Best sound in the world. It's
- 35:57even better with the beer, but... I'm sorry.
- 36:01Oh, the Welch's grape goes. I love the smell
- 36:04of grape, but I hate the taste of grape. Yeah,
- 36:07good old Ghost Energy. We're not sponsored, by
- 36:11the way. Just shouting them out. Yeah, I would
- 36:14love to be sponsored by Ghost Energy, but no,
- 36:16we are not sponsored by them. So, hit me up.
- 36:22Our email's on a Twitter bio. What about like
- 36:26an Eric Goodbranson? He's another Journeyman
- 36:28defenseman. He did play for Columbus. Did he
- 36:32play for any of those other three? Oh. Maybe
- 36:37like a Minnesota? Oh. Florida. Didn't he spend
- 36:48some time in the Berger? Columbus. I don't remember
- 36:52anybody else. I would say L .A. Tyler Toffoli
- 37:00didn't go to Columbus, I don't think. Matt Duchesne,
- 37:05I think he spent a little bit of time. Did he
- 37:06not spend a little bit of time at Columbus? I
- 37:10don't remember. Because I know Colorado, Nashville,
- 37:19and Dallas. I don't remember. Man, it's like
- 37:29we do this every fucking week. First five, we
- 37:33were... Well, the last couple of tries, we've
- 37:35been struggling with the first two. We at least
- 37:37coped through the first six here. It's because
- 37:40Columbus is just so newer to, let me guess, Minnesota.
- 37:43It's two, and we got two there. But... Oh, man.
- 37:50My best guess that I have right now is if Eric
- 37:53had been principal, where else would he have
- 37:55been? Or where did we say we were going to keep
- 37:59him? Who did we say we were going to keep in
- 38:01our back pockets? It was a goalie, I don't remember.
- 38:04Where's he going to be? Steve Mason. Columbus.
- 38:14Columbus, St. Louis. I think. Well, let's throw
- 38:20that there. No. I thought that was about to be
- 38:26an amazing poll. Another one I just thought of,
- 38:30Steve Ott. Steve Ott, where would he go? St.
- 38:34Louis. I know St. Louis. St. Louis, Dallas, Buffalo.
- 38:40He didn't play for Columbus, though. No, not
- 38:43that I know of. JVR not spend some time over
- 38:52in Columbus? I can't keep track of the Van Lee
- 38:56and Shive brothers. I always get them mixed up,
- 39:02honestly. I'm pretty sure he did, but I don't
- 39:05think he would have been with St. Louis or any
- 39:08of those other three. Brad Brizgolov, this is
- 39:42not what we thought. Marion Gabryk, Miko Koivu,
- 39:47Goose Nyquist. Ian Cole. There's one of the German
- 39:51defensemen, I told you. Mike fucking Rupp. Anthony
- 39:54Duclair, oh my god, yes. Rafi Torres. Ray Whitney.
- 40:00Ryan Dezingle. Brandon Sod. Mike Sillinger again,
- 40:05of course. Ian fucking Cole, Ty Conklin. Gilzado.
- 40:09Jordan Leopold. Wow. That's a name I haven't
- 40:12heard in about 11 fucking years. Jordan Leopold.
- 40:16Wow. Geez Louise, man. Alright. Main topic for
- 40:21this evening. We've definitely done this. Sorry.
- 40:25We've done this in years past. I think we might
- 40:26have done it every year thus far. Our UFA predictions
- 40:30are talking about the top 25 to 30 -ish. Maybe
- 40:34even go up to decent names all the way up to
- 40:36even 40, I'd say. But the UFA is where we think
- 40:40these guys could end up. They just might re -sign.
- 40:43Where we think a lot of these guys could end
- 40:46up. I think we should start at the bottom. Start
- 40:49down near the 40 range. I think a good name to
- 40:53start off on is number 40. Being Taylor Radish
- 40:55from Washington. He's only 27 years old. So he's
- 41:00still pretty young. I think he's definitely going
- 41:04to stay out east. Now the concern is, well, my
- 41:07concern is, you know, is he going to stay in
- 41:10Washington or is he going to go down to Tampa,
- 41:12Florida? Or Darren Radish is seeing a whole lot
- 41:16of success down there. Well, not a whole lot
- 41:18of success, but he's made a pretty good name
- 41:20for himself in the defensive core. He'll go play
- 41:23with his brother again the second time in their
- 41:25career. I know during the 21 run, the 2020 -2021
- 41:30run, he was... He got caught up from Syracuse
- 41:34and then was on their taxi squad. He was dressed
- 41:37and everything in case... In case something would
- 41:40happen. And then obviously right after that he
- 41:42went up to Chicago. I think he's probably going
- 41:48to resign. Just resign with Washington? I think
- 41:51it could happen. I could see maybe somebody like...
- 41:56I don't know, maybe somebody like Boston picking
- 41:57him up. I know they're going to start needing
- 41:59some help with a lot of the guys that they lost
- 42:01this year. Honestly, yeah, re -signing maybe
- 42:05somebody like Boston. Buffalo, teams that need
- 42:11help, as much help as they can possibly get.
- 42:14Another one coming from Washington is Andrew
- 42:16Magipani. He's re -signing. Yeah, I can see him
- 42:20just re -signing. I can even see him maybe. possibly
- 42:24reuniting with Calgary, going back over there.
- 42:27Maybe even somebody, like, depending on what
- 42:29happens with, like, a Brock Besser, maybe I could
- 42:31see him maybe going to somebody like Vancouver,
- 42:33because they just have to worry about Pius Suter,
- 42:37they have to worry about if they're going to
- 42:38end up keeping Thatcher Demko with his health
- 42:40problems, that he can't stay healthy. So, man,
- 42:44I could see him going somewhere like those guys,
- 42:45but, yeah, that's another one that's kind of
- 42:48tough to tell there. Next big one that I want
- 42:52to go over is Brett Burns. Chewy. The Wookie.
- 42:57I think he's probably going to call it. I think
- 42:59depending on how deep Carolina goes in these
- 43:01playoffs, it's probably just about time for him
- 43:04to call it. I mean, the man's 40 years old at
- 43:06this point. He is 40, yeah. His age is 30. I
- 43:09know. That's why I said it. I thought you said
- 43:12he's about 40. No, I said he's 40. Come on, Kyle.
- 43:16Listen up, bud. Yeah, you're right. He's old.
- 43:22I'm sorry. And going right below him, Dimitri
- 43:25Orlov. He's 33 as well. Another defenseman there
- 43:28on Carolina that's on the verge of potentially
- 43:31leaving or testing the market. I mean, I don't
- 43:36know. I don't know about him. Could maybe again
- 43:38go reunite with Boston over there. Could reunite
- 43:42with Washington. But I really don't think Washington
- 43:45needs the help. That honestly wouldn't be one
- 43:48that I would... I'd hate to see him in Pittsburgh,
- 43:49but he's a little older than I'd like. With how
- 43:53old our team already is. But I think he'd be
- 43:55a decent replacement for LeTang, because I know
- 43:58LeTang is going to be questionable to start the
- 44:01season. He might be questionable to play at all.
- 44:04He might be done this week. It all depends on
- 44:06how he heals from the surgery he's had this offseason.
- 44:10One person I would like to pick up as a Penguins
- 44:12fan, and who's still relatively unsashed in their
- 44:16prime, At 34, it's, oh, age 29, number 34 on
- 44:22here, Victor Olsen. Yeah, I mean, I wouldn't.
- 44:25He's still a young guy, you know. If he doesn't
- 44:28sign with Vegas, I'd like to see him come out
- 44:29and play for the State City. He's pretty solid,
- 44:32too. Well, I was talking more like defensemen
- 44:34that replace Tanger. Well, I'm saying for a youth
- 44:39standpoint. Not taking Tanger or our defensive
- 44:41core, our awful, awful defensive core out of
- 44:45the picture. Yeah. Which will actually probably
- 44:47get better after that, but that's besides the
- 44:49point. And going back down, Jeff Skinner, I can
- 44:52see him just re -signing with Edmonton. He seems
- 44:54to be in a good fit there. Actually gets to have
- 44:57some playoff experience being in a team that
- 44:59can make the playoffs. Because of his time in
- 45:02Carolina? Nope. When he was with Carolina, they
- 45:05sucked. Of course, he goes to Buffalo. Buffalo
- 45:07has sucked for, what, 15 years now? Yes, a long
- 45:10time. I think this was their 14th year not making
- 45:12the playoffs in a row? 13th or 14th year in a
- 45:14row? Yeah. It was. Longest active streak in the
- 45:18league. This is another one in the top defenseman
- 45:23names that I think Pittsburgh could go after
- 45:26going up to number 31 with Vlad Gavrikov. I think
- 45:29he could be a very good addition to the Penns
- 45:31defense, especially if we end up letting Matt
- 45:33Gryzlik walk as well. I think he could be a very
- 45:37good fit in our system. Again, it's tough to
- 45:40tell when we don't have a head coach right now
- 45:42to be able to debate. who might fit in with the
- 45:46system. Again, we might even bring in somebody
- 45:48that we've never heard of. Somebody from the
- 45:49AHL that has done very, very well. But, again,
- 45:54time will tell with that. Corey Perry, I... Retire.
- 45:58I can see it definitely happening. No, no, no.
- 46:00He's going to resign with the... I'm trying to
- 46:05think of a name. Where do people go for their
- 46:09career to die? Buffalo. There are a lot of hot
- 46:12ladies up in Sudbury. that he can go up and,
- 46:16you know. Apparently there is in Chicago, according
- 46:17to Corey Perry. No, it's just bombs. He just
- 46:20goes after the bombs. If he does play, you're
- 46:25at that age where you don't really want to change
- 46:27where you're at. If he does, just resign for
- 46:29another year and finish it there. Connor Brown,
- 46:33that's one name that has honestly just kind of
- 46:35been a disappointment his whole career. No offense
- 46:37to him, but he just, he has never lived up to
- 46:39the hype that he had coming out of Erie and coming
- 46:42into the NHL. He's never been able to reach that
- 46:45potential that he had around his name. But I
- 46:49think he does fit in well with the Edmonton team.
- 46:53I could just see him re -signing a smaller, maybe
- 46:56two, three -year deal worth $2 million, $3 million
- 46:59a year. No matter where he goes, it's not going
- 47:02to be anything massive. No. That's what you said.
- 47:06Yanni Gord, another one. I can just see that
- 47:09being a quick re -sign for Tampa Bay. He really
- 47:12loves it there. The fans and the team loves having
- 47:14him there. Another one I think I can just see
- 47:17him re -signing and staying there. The amount
- 47:21of success that he has had in Tampa versus anywhere
- 47:24else, it's ridiculous. So Tampa and that system,
- 47:29if John Cooper does end up staying for the long
- 47:32run, you know. Yannick will succeed. Our role
- 47:37continues to be successful under that John Cooper
- 47:40system. Eric Robinson, no offense, I don't know
- 47:45too much about him to talk too much about him,
- 47:48so I think we might skip over him. The next two
- 47:50are the other two defensemen that I think Pittsburgh
- 47:54should have a chance of going after, both being
- 47:56Aaron Eckblad and Ivan Prokhorov. Well, the only
- 47:59concern I have with Aaron Ekblad is he's obviously
- 48:03on the final year of an eight -year deal. He's
- 48:06making $7 .5 million per year, and he's on a
- 48:10minimal no -trade clause, whereas Ivan Prokhorov
- 48:13is obviously on the sixth year, $6 .75 million
- 48:17per year, and he doesn't have a trade clause.
- 48:21Out of those two, I think I would honestly definitely
- 48:23prefer... pro -Rob that might be kind of the
- 48:26hot take or kind of an unpopular answer there.
- 48:29Yeah, I mean, he's a tad bit younger being here,
- 48:32younger than the neck blood. But also a left
- 48:34-handed defenseman, which we could use a couple
- 48:36left -handed defensemen on the line. That'd be
- 48:38actually really nice. I'd very much like having
- 48:41him there. And plus for, you know, granted it's
- 48:44only a $250 ,000 cheaper, technically you could
- 48:49get away with that and still be good to make
- 48:52a couple minor signings for You know, your depth
- 48:55or your age, I'll squad for a two -way squad.
- 48:57Or a two -way contract. And Aaron Edelblad has
- 48:59kind of been on the downfall the last, let's
- 49:01say, by two, three years. He definitely was not
- 49:04as good as he was in his first, you know, eight
- 49:06years in the league and since he's been drafted.
- 49:09But that one, like, dead serious, I could see
- 49:12that one being a Buffalo signing. Like, I could
- 49:15honestly see him, see Buffalo trying to go after
- 49:18him. I mean, considering all their top defensemen
- 49:21in Buffalo are lefties, you do need to have a
- 49:24couple righties in there. Like, you need to have
- 49:25a decent balance, whether it's threes or two
- 49:29and four or whatever. You need to have a good...
- 49:31I thought it would be a good possibility for
- 49:33that. Especially, you know, being paired up with
- 49:38somebody like a Rasmus Dahlin. Yeah. That'd be
- 49:41a good... Even an Owen Power, too. I mean...
- 49:44You got the old man. Old man. I'm going to use
- 49:47that term lightly, but the old man. I'm sorry,
- 49:50the middle -aged man, because I know people like
- 49:52said who hate the phrase old man. The middle
- 49:55-aged man. Young guy in power could really utilize.
- 49:59You can't call it said old. You just have to
- 50:00add an er to the end, because every time somebody
- 50:02would say old, he'd be like er. Old er. Yeah,
- 50:06he's older than some of the rest of the guys.
- 50:10Christian Dvorak, again, I don't know too much
- 50:12about him. I only really honestly remember him
- 50:16being from Montreal. I'm not too familiar with
- 50:19his career path. I mean, I could see him just
- 50:23resigning there with Montreal having the year
- 50:25that they did. Probably don't want to make too
- 50:28many major changes. Because they made the playoffs.
- 50:32Montreal? Yeah. No, they played Washington. They
- 50:35played Washington. That's right. Okay, yeah.
- 50:37That's what I thought. I keep paying attention
- 50:39to this postseason. Kyle, get in the system.
- 50:43I knew they made the playoffs, but they were
- 50:45that close. I knew that they were right on the
- 50:47cusp of making it. Kyle, get in the system. We're
- 50:51almost over the fucking second round. Montreal
- 50:53made the playoffs other than this year. 2021.
- 50:57It's 20 -41. Get it with the system, okay? It's
- 51:00almost the same for something. Listen, we're
- 51:02watching the second. The house came with the
- 51:04fucking second round right now. Get it with the
- 51:05system. The second round felt like it's lasted
- 51:08two months. Two weeks. It says this round is
- 51:12shorter than round one. Is it really? Yeah. It
- 51:15felt like it's been a lot longer. Because it's
- 51:17been only one game seven for this one, but round
- 51:21one we saw two. Get it with the program, freshman.
- 51:24God. Marcus Johansson, that's another one I'm
- 51:27not too familiar with much of what he does. So,
- 51:30I mean, I can't give much. Being an older guy,
- 51:34I mean, he provides the experience. He's a good
- 51:36middle six forward for Minnesota, considering,
- 51:39you know, who they have up there on their top
- 51:41line. But he's going to stay in Minnesota. I
- 51:45think so. I think he loves the Twin Cities. The
- 51:47Twin Cities, you know, most of the fans love
- 51:49him. Yeah, he's one of the fan favorites over
- 51:51there. I can't see Minnesota being too happy
- 51:53if they let him walk. Oh, no. JBR, he's another
- 51:57one. He's up there in age, being 36 years old
- 52:00now. When you get to that 35, 36 range, that's
- 52:06when you start thinking about the one, two -year
- 52:07deals. You just take what you can get, where
- 52:10you can get it. I can see just being another
- 52:13resigning. I can see him going to somebody maybe
- 52:16like, I don't know, maybe like a New Jersey or
- 52:19something. I don't know. New Jersey can definitely
- 52:21use a little bit of help in that middle six.
- 52:24I mean, they will fight against Carolina. And
- 52:28considering Jack Hughes can't fucking stay healthy
- 52:30now, I know his injury when he went down against
- 52:34Vegas with his collision with Jack Eichel, it
- 52:37was poor timing. It was a shitty circumstance
- 52:41for him. And I feel bad, but just in case he
- 52:44continues to go down, well, guess what? You have
- 52:47somebody like Marcus Jansen who can step up and
- 52:49play top six minutes. Grant might be on the second
- 52:52line, but he is able to play those top six minutes
- 52:55and produce on a consistent level. Andre Kuzmenko,
- 53:02this is kind of, he's almost 30. He's 29 years
- 53:05old. He's still pretty young in the end. He hasn't
- 53:07had too much experience in the league yet. I
- 53:10know I think he had, what, a couple years with
- 53:11Vancouver, if I'm not mistaken. I think he just
- 53:14went over to LA there in the deadline. I'm not
- 53:19too familiar with what he's done. He has 11 goals
- 53:27and 37 points in 66 games. Okay, so he's a pretty
- 53:33decent bottom six or middle six forward there.
- 53:37I'm just trying to think of teams. Again, that's
- 53:38another one I could see maybe Boston going after
- 53:40with all the guys that they lost. Brandon Carlo,
- 53:43Jake DeBrusque, obviously the biggest one being
- 53:46Brad Marchand. I could see that being another
- 53:50middle six guy that Boston tries to pick up.
- 53:53I think a big one, or one of the bigger ones
- 53:56here in the top 15 -20 range is obviously Jack
- 54:01Roslevich. only being 28. He did obviously amazing
- 54:04in Columbus, where he started his career. He
- 54:07did great in, or he was consistent in the Big
- 54:10Apple, the Rags. And now he's doing pretty decent
- 54:13in Carolina, finishing up a one -year contract
- 54:16at a 2 .8 million. In 81 games, he has 22 goals
- 54:22and 39 points. So, I mean, he's just coming into
- 54:26his prime. He's young. He can fit in the middle
- 54:28six. Obviously, he's doing pretty good in Carolina.
- 54:32I can see him staying out east, like maybe in
- 54:34the Metro, go back to the Bluecoats, or hell,
- 54:36even go back to Columbus, who's missing that
- 54:39offensive firepower with the loss of Johnny Goudreau.
- 54:42I mean, you can't use the word replace Johnny
- 54:45Goudreau, obviously. Well, I mean, as a human,
- 54:48no, but as a hockey player. As a body, as a player,
- 54:50as a body on the ice, as a player. As a body
- 54:53on the ice, it'd be a good replacement. when
- 54:58it comes to scoring -wise and depth -wise. I
- 55:01don't think he can replace the scoring aspect
- 55:04of it, but I think coming from more of a playmaking
- 55:07asset and getting those opportunities, he can
- 55:13definitely fill those shoes. Oh, for sure. And
- 55:15really wear down that goaltender, because you
- 55:18might not get the tally, but you might wear the
- 55:20goalie down enough or their D down enough to
- 55:22have your teammate get the goal, which a goal
- 55:26is a goal. Don't ask them how, just ask how many.
- 55:32Evgeny Dadunov is another one of those. He's
- 55:34kind of bounced around his whole career, been
- 55:35just about everywhere, getting to that age where
- 55:38you want to start thinking that one, two -year
- 55:40contract. I think it fit for him. I think he's
- 55:44played here previously, but Team Out West, I'm
- 55:46thinking maybe a team like San Jose. Yeah, they're
- 55:52going to be getting some youth here in the next
- 55:53couple of years. Bring in that veteranism. guy
- 55:57like him definitely hasn't been, you know, elite
- 56:01to any level. But, just, I mean, I think anybody
- 56:06would be, he'd be good bottom three or, you know,
- 56:10bottom line forward to help just about anybody.
- 56:14Matt Grislick, I said this is one of Pittsburgh's
- 56:16decisions that they need to make. I haven't,
- 56:20he hasn't been horrible, but he definitely hasn't
- 56:22been worth what we've been paying him these last
- 56:25two seasons. I mean, just finishing up a one
- 56:27-year $2 .750 million con. Or $75 million con,
- 56:35whatever. With a full release, whatever. 82 games,
- 56:41his one goal and 40 points. If we were to re
- 56:46-sign him, I would be okay with this amount.
- 56:49I just don't want us to pay any more. Maybe bump
- 56:52it up to three. But I would not really want to
- 56:56pay him any more than that. Yeah, three tops
- 56:58would definitely be the most I'd go. Unless if
- 57:01he continues, like if he improves. Yeah. If production
- 57:05-wise he gets better, if he's a great person
- 57:08on the PK, if he can run the second power play
- 57:11unit, as well as anybody in the first, then I'd
- 57:15be happy with Vader more. But it's a prove -me
- 57:18-wrong point. Riley Smith, fuck him. I really
- 57:22don't give a shit what he does. Pui Suter. Fucking
- 57:26stay in Vegas, Riley. Stay as far away from Pittsburgh
- 57:28because you really didn't fucking like it here,
- 57:30so fuck you. He's going to resign with Vegas.
- 57:34I can just see him resigning and staying there.
- 57:38Fucking good. Pui Suter, this is honestly one
- 57:42that... I could see him going to a powerhouse,
- 57:45you know, helping out a team that has, like,
- 57:47kind of been struggling in that first round or,
- 57:50you know, first, second round the last couple
- 57:52years. I know they just went back -to -back a
- 57:55couple years ago. I could see him going somewhere
- 57:56like Tampa. I think he'd be a great replacement
- 57:59for Stephen Stamkos there on the top six. Well,
- 58:02he'd be the second line because the top line
- 58:04of Kucherov, Gensel, and Point has been outstanding.
- 58:07I think he could be very solid. I think he could
- 58:10do good in the middle six. I'd say he'd probably
- 58:11be in the middle six. But, again, body on the
- 58:14ice -wise, he'd be a decent replacement for Stamkos.
- 58:16And being in a system like just a very heavy
- 58:19point and scoring team like Tampa Bay, I think
- 58:23he would fit in very well there. The next three,
- 58:27all with a couple years, only 34 years old. Yeah.
- 58:30Dude, he's one of those you think he'd be like
- 58:3242. I thought he was older. I thought he was
- 58:35way older than that. I was going to say, the
- 58:38next three players, Kyle Palmieri from the Islanders,
- 58:41Jamie Benn from the Dallas Stars, Claude Giroux
- 58:44from Ottawa, I can see all staying, signing those
- 58:47one, two -year contracts. Maybe a three -year
- 58:50if you're Kyle Palmieri, but I can all see them
- 58:53signing at least a one or two -year contract
- 58:55with the teams they were on. Claude Giroux, honestly,
- 59:00I wouldn't put it past seeing him reunite with
- 59:02Philly, bring him back for a year. I wouldn't
- 59:05be opposed to it, but I'd just imagine him wanting
- 59:08to stay up in Ottawa a little bit more. Or stay
- 59:11up somewhere he's familiar with. I don't think
- 59:14I can see him going to a new team, going back
- 59:16to a team that he used to play for or just staying
- 59:18with. I'd say if he were to move, he'd probably
- 59:21be back to Philly. But if it's not retirement,
- 59:25then he'll probably do a one or two. In my opinion,
- 59:30I think this guy should be top five. This next
- 59:32one being Brock Besser out of Vancouver. I don't
- 59:35know why he's as far down as I am, but I really
- 59:36think he should be top three on this list. Injuries
- 59:39and personal issues have really plagued his past
- 59:42couple years. I can see him going to a young
- 59:47upcoming team that has not quite reached that
- 59:51skill mark that they need to. Someone that I
- 59:53personally think he could fit in very, very well
- 59:56in. Anaheim. Put him with Trevor Zegras. That
- 1:00:01could be a very good line. That could be a very
- 1:00:05interesting thing to see. Next up is The Rat.
- 1:00:10And I can see him staying in Florida. I know
- 1:00:13before the trade. I think I saw an interview
- 1:00:16with him. Like, shortly after he got to Florida,
- 1:00:20because he sat out for a couple weeks due to
- 1:00:21injury, and he was like, yeah, I've always liked
- 1:00:25Florida from an opponent's standpoint. I've always
- 1:00:28liked their system, how they play, their physicality,
- 1:00:31the style that Paul Maurice has. So he's like,
- 1:00:34if I was going to be traded anywhere, this is
- 1:00:36definitely going to be one of the places on the
- 1:00:37top of my list. So I do imagine Brad Marchand
- 1:00:40wanting to stay in Florida for another year or
- 1:00:43two before he calls a quits. Number nine, Sam
- 1:00:49Bennett. Stay in Florida. Stay in Florida. Keep
- 1:00:52him away from everybody else. Nobody else wants
- 1:00:54him. Brock Nelson. Here's one. I could see him.
- 1:00:59There's one team that comes to mind that made
- 1:01:02a bunch of moves last offseason. Big moves last
- 1:01:05offseason. And it didn't work very well. So I
- 1:01:09think this team now needs to get as much help
- 1:01:12as they could possibly get. There's actually
- 1:01:14two names here in the final top now that I can
- 1:01:16see this team going after. And that's the Nashville
- 1:01:19Predators. Yeah. Made a bunch of moves this offseason
- 1:01:22that obviously did not work out very well. There's
- 1:01:29one thing that I have against Brock Nelson that
- 1:01:32I know can kind of be contradicted because of
- 1:01:36who Nashville currently has. Age. Yeah. Stammer's
- 1:01:41getting up there. Riot is getting up there. Martial
- 1:01:45Soul is getting up there. Yoshi is getting there.
- 1:01:47Who? Yoshi. I heard Yoshi. I was like, Yoshi's
- 1:01:50a Nintendo character. But yeah, Yoshi's getting
- 1:01:55up there. Pekka is... I don't know how old Pekka
- 1:01:58is. Oh, not Pekka. He's been so long. Yusi, yeah.
- 1:02:01Yusi. He's getting up there. But the other name
- 1:02:04in that top nine that I could see going there
- 1:02:07is Mikael Grantland. I could see him going there
- 1:02:10as well. I'm sorry, he's staying in Dallas. He's
- 1:02:12staying in Dallas. You think so? He's having
- 1:02:14a good playoff right now in Dallas. Yeah, but
- 1:02:18you've got to think, they just paid Wyatt Johnson
- 1:02:20all that money. I think they already did give
- 1:02:23Branton a whole shit ton of money now. I don't
- 1:02:26know if they started paying Aria or not, but
- 1:02:28if not, he's going to have to start getting paid
- 1:02:29very soon. They are going to be paying a lot
- 1:02:32of money to these stars that they've got coming
- 1:02:34up. Obviously, they're paying Robertson a lot
- 1:02:36of money right now. I don't think Thomas Harley
- 1:02:40is on the big page yet, so he's going to be getting
- 1:02:43there soon. I don't know. I just don't know if
- 1:02:46Granlund is going to make the – unless he's willing
- 1:02:48to play for $3 million to $4 million, then sure,
- 1:02:52I could see it happening. But if not, he's definitely
- 1:02:56going to have to be looking somewhere that he
- 1:02:58can still shine, a team that needs some help,
- 1:03:00and I think Nashville is one of those teams.
- 1:03:03They may not go after both of them, but I could
- 1:03:04see them going after at least one of those two
- 1:03:06guys. Or Detroit, depending on where Patrick
- 1:03:09Kane ends up. I mean, the man's 36 years old.
- 1:03:13He's coming off a one -year contract getting
- 1:03:15paid $4 million with a no -movement clause. Or
- 1:03:21no -trade clause. So, depending on where Patrick
- 1:03:26Kane lands, they can pick up Grantland. Besser
- 1:03:29or whoever. I think I could see Patrick Kane
- 1:03:32staying put. I mean, he's been fighting injury.
- 1:03:35It's going to be the year he might call it quits
- 1:03:37early. I know Taze was only, what, 37 when he
- 1:03:39called it quits. And I know he's... Kane might
- 1:03:41fall on his footsteps and call it quits pretty
- 1:03:42early. I saw someone in an interview, like, well,
- 1:03:46like, kind of in the middle of the season, like,
- 1:03:48saying, like, his son and the Brinkett son, like,
- 1:03:52have, like, a really good... are really close,
- 1:03:56but he's worried that if he would leave, he'd
- 1:04:01ruin that. I know his kids, they're both young,
- 1:04:05but he... It's just the young friendship kind
- 1:04:08of thing. Lifelong memories. Future line mates,
- 1:04:12hopefully. I guess Ryan Donato, I guess that's
- 1:04:15another one with his age, I guess that's another
- 1:04:17one Nashville could honestly be looking at, too.
- 1:04:19He's a little bit younger than Nelson and...
- 1:04:21in Grandland. He's only 29, so he's still got
- 1:04:25that youth energy to him, but I don't know how
- 1:04:27much money he's going to be looking for. Yeah,
- 1:04:29he just finished up a two -year, $2 million deal.
- 1:04:32He's kind of a bottom six guy, so I really don't
- 1:04:36know where I could see him going. Pittsburgh
- 1:04:38is honestly a possibility. We definitely need
- 1:04:42some help in that bottom six. We need some help
- 1:04:45everywhere. The Eilbers? Going to Long Island.
- 1:04:49Going to the... Going through the very short
- 1:04:52island now. Kind of a replacement for the loss
- 1:04:54of Brock Nelson. You didn't pick up what I was
- 1:04:57putting down. The very short island. Nikolai
- 1:05:01Ehlers. This one's tough. He could go, I think,
- 1:05:04just about anywhere. I feel like Winnipeg would
- 1:05:08like him to stay in Winnipeg. He might want to
- 1:05:11stay in Winnipeg because that's where he spent
- 1:05:12his entire career. In Winnipeg. Let's see. He's
- 1:05:17just finishing up a seven -year contract, $6
- 1:05:19million with a minimal no -movement clause. He
- 1:05:25had 24 goals, 63 points, and 69 games this year.
- 1:05:30Nice. Honestly, what I could see happening, if
- 1:05:34Vancouver doesn't re -sign Besser, I could see
- 1:05:39Ehlers possibly going over to Vancouver. Just
- 1:05:43how much are they willing to pay him? Yeah. Kind
- 1:05:46of thing. It's just, you know, the whole monetary
- 1:05:48thing. Yeah. I'm going to jump up to number two
- 1:05:52because one and three can kind of go, you know,
- 1:05:54hand in hand. Matthew Shane, 34 years out of
- 1:05:57Dallas. This year, you know, he's finishing up
- 1:06:00a one -year $3 million contract. No trade clause.
- 1:06:03He had two games, 30 goals. He has a point per
- 1:06:07game all season. Or all this year. So, I could
- 1:06:10see him... If he stays in Dallas, obviously he's
- 1:06:15going to take a pay cut. But he'll be 34 looking
- 1:06:18at staring down the barrel at 35 years old. I
- 1:06:21can see him being added to one of those teams
- 1:06:24that have been right there on the bubble of first
- 1:06:27round exits or right there missing the playoffs.
- 1:06:29The team that comes to mind is maybe somebody
- 1:06:30like St. Louis. Well, when you have people like...
- 1:06:38Jordan Cairo, and Pavel Buznevich. Robert Thomas.
- 1:06:42Robert Thomas. St. Louis might not be able to
- 1:06:45fit him into the system. I'm thinking more along
- 1:06:49the lines of Seattle and Utah. You know, those
- 1:06:51bubble teams. Utah. Utah. Utah. It's just, okay,
- 1:06:56who's that one player that could take us from
- 1:06:59a French team to just right there on the cut
- 1:07:03line? Just maybe barely above the cut line. Florida
- 1:07:07just scored again. Maybe just above the cut line
- 1:07:11like Montreal was this year, but, you know, right
- 1:07:17there into the postseason to dance the third
- 1:07:21statement. Trying to see what happened here.
- 1:07:25Oh, my God. What a scar. That's just a garbage
- 1:07:28goal, man. Just a nice snipe off the faceoff.
- 1:07:32All right, the Carolina Hurricanes will be playing
- 1:07:35Florida Panthers in round three. All right, speaking
- 1:07:39of Toronto, the last two players, obviously out
- 1:07:42of Toronto, at the number three spot would be
- 1:07:45John Traveris, 34 years of age, finishing up
- 1:07:48a seven -year deal, cap it $11 million. No matter
- 1:07:54where he goes, he's not going to get that amount
- 1:07:57of money again. No. There's no chance in hell.
- 1:07:59Especially with how he's paying. I'm sorry, he's
- 1:08:02not. A team that I could see him sticking in
- 1:08:05the Eastern Conference, a team that I could possibly
- 1:08:09see him going to, is honestly somebody like the
- 1:08:12Rangers, maybe. No, he's not going to go to the
- 1:08:14Rangers after being a lifelong Islander. I'm
- 1:08:19sorry, that's a sin. That's a death sentence
- 1:08:22for him. The Islanders fans already fucking hate
- 1:08:26him. Let's not hate him more. It goes both ways,
- 1:08:30that's the thing. You know, as long as you're
- 1:08:32paying for the Islanders, you don't go to the
- 1:08:34Rangers and vice versa. I said, if he's going
- 1:08:36to stay, because I feel like he honestly is going
- 1:08:39to stay in the East. I've seen something, but
- 1:08:42I'm leaning more towards Ottawa, but I said the
- 1:08:49other two I had in mind were Ottawa. Yeah, I
- 1:08:51said Ottawa could be good. Ottawa, I think Ottawa.
- 1:08:57Boston and New Jersey. They were kind of my other
- 1:09:01two. I could see them in Ottawa. I was going
- 1:09:04to say, I'm kind of going with the Boston vibes.
- 1:09:06With an older guy, a middle six guy in Boston
- 1:09:13who, again, as you stated multiple times beforehand,
- 1:09:17Boston needs those forwards to kind of help rebuild.
- 1:09:20And having a couple veteran guys. will really
- 1:09:23help them. So, again, I'm going to piggyback
- 1:09:27off your statement there, Kyle. Boston needs
- 1:09:30those guys. Johnny T could potentially be one
- 1:09:32of those guys. And then the number one name,
- 1:09:35everybody's talking about it. What's going to
- 1:09:37happen? This is very close, very similar story
- 1:09:40to 2016 and the Stephen Stamko situation. What's
- 1:09:45going to happen with Mitch Marnie? Where's Mitch
- 1:09:47Marnie going to go? Is he going to re -sign with
- 1:09:49Toronto? Is he going to go somewhere? Mitch O
- 1:09:52'Barney. Bitch O 'Barney, right? Honestly, I
- 1:09:55can see this being kind of like a Stephen Stamkos
- 1:09:57situation where it's going to be the hype all
- 1:10:00the way up until the free agent debt, all the
- 1:10:02way up until the free agency. He's going to talk
- 1:10:04with a couple of different teams. Everybody's
- 1:10:05like, oh, he's going here. Everybody is positive
- 1:10:08that Stamkos was going to Toronto. Everybody
- 1:10:11was so confident Stamkos was coming to Toronto
- 1:10:13just for him to re -sign with Tampa Bay that
- 1:10:15year. Yeah, and on the trade deadline eve...
- 1:10:18you reassign to Tampa, stick with them for another
- 1:10:21eight years. I could honestly see that being
- 1:10:24a very similar situation with Mitch Marner. I
- 1:10:26could very easily see them being, honestly, how
- 1:10:30this game is turning out, maybe not, but this
- 1:10:33might be a situation where he says, hey, I'm
- 1:10:36testing the market, I'm possibly going to be
- 1:10:38leaving until the very last second. Just kidding,
- 1:10:40I'm resetting with Toronto. If not, two teams
- 1:10:45come to mind. Pittsburgh is one of them because
- 1:10:48his history with Kyle Dubas, I really think Dubas
- 1:10:50would have the interest in trying to bring him
- 1:10:52over. And I think with him playing with either
- 1:10:55Crosby or Malkin would be insane. Even making
- 1:10:59him his own line, maybe down on the third line.
- 1:11:01Yeah, I was going to say. With the two young
- 1:11:04kids, like a Rucker, McGrody, and Billy Coivin
- 1:11:06in. Yeah, Kyle and I were talking about this
- 1:11:09off the air, just sitting around bullshitting.
- 1:11:13It's almost like a Phil Kessel situation. Yeah,
- 1:11:17like, all the hype might be around, you know,
- 1:11:19Phil Kessel bonding with either Sid or Gino,
- 1:11:23but no, we were proven wrong, and he had his
- 1:11:25own line, the HBK line, which was highly successful
- 1:11:28during their first cup run. Marner could potentially
- 1:11:31do the same thing. Marner, almost like Sid and
- 1:11:34the kids. Marner and the kids. Even though Marner
- 1:11:38is a kid. The HBK would have the MMK line. McGrody,
- 1:11:44Marner, Klavenen. That could be sick. That'd
- 1:11:47be really sick. If not, a team that, again, this
- 1:11:51is another one I think we just mentioned briefly.
- 1:11:53Somebody like Utah. I think he could fit in very
- 1:11:56well over in Utah. You have players like Dylan
- 1:11:58Gunther, you got Clayton Keller, you got Lawson
- 1:12:01Kraus. You got a very young, talented team over
- 1:12:05there. And bringing in somebody like Mitch Marner
- 1:12:08could just be that last little... Who are that
- 1:12:11last little oomph that they need to get over
- 1:12:13that hump, maybe get into a playoff spot next
- 1:12:16year? Well, I was going to say Seattle because
- 1:12:18a lot of Seattle, they have great puck movers,
- 1:12:22they have great playmakers, but they don't really
- 1:12:24have a whole lot of players to be able to finish
- 1:12:28the playoff, to actually put the rubber in the
- 1:12:30net. And Marner could potentially do that. He
- 1:12:35does have a nice wrister. He does have a knack
- 1:12:39for the net. So, like, I could see him also fitting
- 1:12:43in Seattle. Yeah. That was the other one I had.
- 1:12:48Seattle, I know Utah was kind of one of my last
- 1:12:53three choices. Also, I'll pull this up real quick.
- 1:12:56Believe it or not, Seattle only has, or at the
- 1:12:59moment, only has 1 .97 million of cap space right
- 1:13:01now. So, I'm sure they're not going to be resigning.
- 1:13:06not a lot of the guys that are on the team right
- 1:13:08now, so I'm sure that if they wanted to, they'd
- 1:13:09let some guys walk, maybe some that they don't
- 1:13:12want to, to free up at probably at least 10,
- 1:13:1411, 12 mil that Marner's going to be asking for.
- 1:13:17Or also try to trade up, use some trades for
- 1:13:21the draft. I think people often forget, myself
- 1:13:27included, there are going to be some teams that
- 1:13:30are going to be trying to be aggressive. at the
- 1:13:32straight deadline. And I know this draft has
- 1:13:34to be a little bit weaker compared to years past
- 1:13:38and years coming. No, no, no. Next year is it.
- 1:13:40Next year is stacked. It's stacked. But take
- 1:13:43advantage of the very few great players of this
- 1:13:47draft. There are 15 of them. They're amazing.
- 1:13:51If you guys could guess the top five teams with
- 1:13:53the most amount of cap space right now, who would
- 1:13:55you guess? Chicago, Detroit. No, not Detroit.
- 1:14:02I agree with Chicago. Chicago's close. Chicago's
- 1:14:058th. Okay. I know it's not Detroit. Obviously
- 1:14:08it's not Toronto. Not Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh's
- 1:14:119th. We're close. Neither are... Buffalo might
- 1:14:17be up there, but the other two New York teams
- 1:14:19definitely aren't. Correct. Buffalo's 7th. Yeah,
- 1:14:25Buffalo would have been the closest out of all
- 1:14:27three New York teams. Neither Florida team. We
- 1:14:32have mentioned a good majority of these teams
- 1:14:34tonight. So, Dallas is a no. Carolina's a no.
- 1:14:39Colorado's probably not either. No. Nashville
- 1:14:44has to be up there. They just got there sixth
- 1:14:48for available cap space. By about less than a
- 1:14:54mil. Utah has to be up there. Number five has
- 1:14:58the most. They have $7 .72 million of cap space
- 1:15:00right now. Okay, so Utah's five. Then we got
- 1:15:03Colorado's not going to be up there. Minnesota
- 1:15:08might be on the fence. They might be seven, right?
- 1:15:11No, Minnesota actually has barely. Minnesota
- 1:15:16has $36 ,000 of cap space. They could pay somebody
- 1:15:21to play for about three games. Let's see. Moving
- 1:15:24Pacific to Atlantic. I don't think Pacific. Vancouver
- 1:15:29has to be up there. No. One of the three California
- 1:15:33teams. Two of the three California teams. So
- 1:15:36not LA, so it's going to be Anaheim and San Jose.
- 1:15:39Four and three respectively. So we're just missing
- 1:15:41one and two. Yeah. All right. Any more in the
- 1:15:44Pacific? No. Yes. Sorry, yes. Up north. So, not
- 1:15:52Vancouver, Seattle. Calgary. Calgary is number
- 1:15:57two. What's number one? At least Metro. Metro.
- 1:16:02Columbus. Columbus has $18 .2 million of cap
- 1:16:06stays right now. Well, you do realize that they
- 1:16:08were below the cap basement because of Johnny
- 1:16:12DeDrobin. They got a pass in the league. They're
- 1:16:13like, we get it. We're fine. So, I fucking should
- 1:16:17have guessed Columbus. Yeah. Ah, dang it. That's
- 1:16:19why, I mean, yeah, Utah. Honestly, Ehlers, I
- 1:16:23think, could even go to somebody like Anaheim,
- 1:16:25too. Anaheim or San Jose. That was actually one
- 1:16:28of the other ones I've... I mean, those top five
- 1:16:32guys can go just about anywhere in all those
- 1:16:34teams that have space. Nashville still has...
- 1:16:37Like, Nashville's in sixth, still, with all the
- 1:16:41signs that they made last offseason. They still
- 1:16:45have $7 million of cap space, which is crazy.
- 1:16:50Clone's just learning this right now. Yes! Let's
- 1:16:53go! Yes! Cry, baby, cry! Let's go! I love this!
- 1:17:06This is what I live for! Yeah! Now we turn on
- 1:17:13Steve Daigle's stream here shortly. Oh, man.
- 1:17:16Here, hold on. We'll talk about it here in a
- 1:17:19second off the air. While we are letting the
- 1:17:23last four or five minutes of Toronto's season
- 1:17:26come to an end, just a couple things that happened
- 1:17:29outside of free agency and outside of the playoffs.
- 1:17:33The Philadelphia Flyers hiring Rick Talkett as
- 1:17:35their new head coach, which I fucking hate that
- 1:17:38so much. I hate that so much. I do not want Philadelphia
- 1:17:42to have a good coach, man. That one's rough.
- 1:17:47And then Joe Quinto is announced as the Anaheim
- 1:17:52Ducks head coach. So this is probably about 10
- 1:17:59days ago. With Niagara, the Ice Dogs, cleaning
- 1:18:03the fucking house after an OHL review. Which
- 1:18:06I am not surprised. We kind of saw that one coming.
- 1:18:09Honestly, it's loser because just how garbage
- 1:18:14they've been. of everything they've done over
- 1:18:18the last few years in that organization. Good,
- 1:18:21clean. At this point, I might as well throw some
- 1:18:25money together to buy that freaking franchise
- 1:18:27and be like, hey, here you go. Fresh start. Again,
- 1:18:30I feel bad for the fans of Niagara. Like, over
- 1:18:34the years, I've talked to a few of them that
- 1:18:39have come to hear that. But, that I might feel
- 1:18:42bad for. But, just in general. The organization
- 1:18:45itself? No. It's not a joke. Florida or Toronto
- 1:18:49with the empty net. Your seat is on the line.
- 1:18:52You have nothing to lose. Game's over. I'm trying
- 1:18:58to keep this close because the laptop's ahead.
- 1:19:00But, alright. Hey. Remember? We want Florida.
- 1:19:10We want Carolina. What happened now? Let's go!
- 1:19:21Yet another Game 7 playoff by the Toronto Maple
- 1:19:29Laughs. Man. Oh, man. Are we stuck in like a
- 1:19:35time loop or a time machine where we just keep
- 1:19:37seeing the same thing back and forth? Groundhog's
- 1:19:41Day, I swear. We're living a live Groundhog Day,
- 1:19:44to be honest with you, man. It's every year with
- 1:19:48this team, man. That's about all we were waiting
- 1:19:52for to wrap up this episode. We didn't want to,
- 1:19:54again, end it without knowing the outcome last
- 1:19:58episode, but we kind of had to because it was
- 1:20:00pushing midnight here. And we all had it. We
- 1:20:05only just got caught after 10 p .m. here right
- 1:20:07now. I was going to say, at the time, two of
- 1:20:09the three of us had to work. And now all of us
- 1:20:13have to work in the morning, but whatever. This
- 1:20:15game is just about over, so we can just about
- 1:20:17wrap this up and say, prediction for Carolina,
- 1:20:21Florida. I don't know if I said this off recording,
- 1:20:26if I said this at the beginning of this recording.
- 1:20:29It's going to be Carolina because I do think
- 1:20:32Toronto did give them enough of a beating to
- 1:20:34where I don't know if they're going to have enough
- 1:20:36left in them to get past Carolina. If I can remember
- 1:20:38last year, Florida and Carolina in the conference
- 1:20:40final, it was in six last year? No. It wasn't?
- 1:20:45In the conference final. So, sit between the
- 1:20:48last full season knockout and present day, this
- 1:20:54is Carolina's fifth Eastern Conference Finals.
- 1:20:58Guess how many games they've won. One? Four.
- 1:21:03Wow. They won the series back in 2006 when they
- 1:21:08won the Cup. They haven't won a game since. They
- 1:21:12lost in 2009 to the Penguins in four. They lost
- 1:21:16in 2019 to the Boston in four. And they lost
- 1:21:19in 2023 to the Florida Panthers in four. They
- 1:21:23are 4 -12. Since the NHL lockout. Since Sidney
- 1:21:28Crosby came into the league. In the conference
- 1:21:31finals. In the conference finals. Specifically,
- 1:21:33the conference finals. That's insane. So, I don't
- 1:21:38know. They obviously have that haunting them.
- 1:21:42That adds a little backstory. But I don't know
- 1:21:46if they're coming back with a different vengeance,
- 1:21:48with more confidence, with more swagger. primarily
- 1:21:51kicked the shit out of New Jersey up and down
- 1:21:53the ice for five games. New Jersey, I think the
- 1:21:55one they won was in overtime. Yeah. Kicked the
- 1:21:58shit out of Washington up and down the ice for
- 1:22:00five games just as bad. Again, did they waste
- 1:22:03too much energy on those two series to be able
- 1:22:05to take on Florida? But the one thing with Carolina
- 1:22:09is they've had some time in between series. Between
- 1:22:13rounds one and two. And between rounds two and
- 1:22:16now round three. That series ended what? Six
- 1:22:19days ago already? That's a good question. Five,
- 1:22:22six days ago? Because obviously game one will
- 1:22:24be in Carolina on Tuesday. I want to say game
- 1:22:27five was either Tuesday or Wednesday. So by the
- 1:22:30time the next series starts. May 15th. So five
- 1:22:34days. It'll be five days between game five of
- 1:22:38the Carolina -Washington series and game one
- 1:22:41of the Florida. Carolina series. They haven't
- 1:22:44put, they just put the graphic up there. It's
- 1:22:46over. They still have a blank there. Oh, can
- 1:22:49we please note over it? Let me know it's over.
- 1:22:55Dude, I, I just, I, I'm sorry. Like, I, I, there
- 1:22:59are very few fans that I truly feel bad for.
- 1:23:03Like Toronto fans, I truly feel bad for. Steve
- 1:23:06Dangle's one of them. He has been through so
- 1:23:08much bullshit in his life. He's only seen, Five
- 1:23:13playoff series wins this millennium. Five! This
- 1:23:17fucking millennium! I feel so bad for him, but
- 1:23:23he continues to torture himself with this franchise.
- 1:23:27He wrote a book about how much this team has
- 1:23:30ruined his life. But he still loves them. He
- 1:23:32still loves them. That's how we feel about our
- 1:23:35Ariadnas and our Pittsburgh Penguins. We've seen
- 1:23:37three cups in our lifetime with the Penguins,
- 1:23:39so we can't really say that. And two, kind of,
- 1:23:42we were all on an age of five when the Otters
- 1:23:44won their first one. Yeah. Right? Yeah. 2002.
- 1:23:51Yeah. Born in 1997. Yeah, I was five. I was literally
- 1:23:55about to turn three when they won the... Four
- 1:24:00days after they won it, I turned... When we won
- 1:24:03our first one, I probably couldn't even say Erie
- 1:24:05Otters yet, so... Yet again, the Toronto Maple
- 1:24:10Leafs choking in Game 7 on home ice. They love
- 1:24:14Game 7s. I know what Colin was saying. Certain
- 1:24:17Toronto fans definitely have had this coming
- 1:24:21to them. But the way I look at it, honestly,
- 1:24:24is when you were as bad as you were for as long
- 1:24:28as they were, and now you actually have a team
- 1:24:31that is starting to see success, you're going
- 1:24:35to start to get a little excited. You're going
- 1:24:37to start to show... Your bias and a little bit
- 1:24:39of your cocky side show. Some of them have definitely
- 1:24:42gotten a little too much of it. But... Yeah,
- 1:24:47man. Florida Panthers have advanced in seven
- 1:24:51games against the Toronto Maple Leafs. A repeat
- 1:24:55of the Eastern Conference Finals from last season.
- 1:24:59Two years ago. Who did they play last year? Who
- 1:25:02did the Panthers play last year? I thought they
- 1:25:06played the Hurricanes. That's what I thought.
- 1:25:12So is it the third year in a row? The Rangers.
- 1:25:16Oh, that's right. The Rangers beat the Hurricanes
- 1:25:20in second round. Because like I said, it was
- 1:25:22Florida, Carolina, and 23. When Carolina got
- 1:25:26swept in the conference finals. That's right.
- 1:25:32Well, that's about wraps it up for this episode,
- 1:25:34guys. I think we're going to quickly end this
- 1:25:35here. Watch this handshake line. Watch Steve
- 1:25:37Dangle lose his mind for a couple minutes before
- 1:25:39we head out of the studio ourselves. Thank you
- 1:25:41guys for listening. Stay tuned, possibly next
- 1:25:44week. I don't know. We'll get together here and
- 1:25:45decide if we want to go back to back weeks here.
- 1:25:47Depends on how quickly these two series are moving
- 1:25:49along. But, uh, Toronto fans. Adios. Adios. Florida
- 1:25:56fans, welcome back to the third round. And, uh...
- 1:26:00Brad Marchand, welcome back to the third round.
- 1:26:03Toronto Jersey can officially come down in the
- 1:26:05studio. Only four remain. Literally last recording,
- 1:26:11we still had like 10, 11 remaining. Yeah, I was
- 1:26:16still on the wall behind Jeffy. The only non
- 1:26:21-staple jersey that was up was the Penguins one.
