- Scott Miller: Okay folks and welcome to a brand new special edition of the Political Matrix News. We're here with our special guest, Paul Renner. Paul Renner, I'm sorry, Speaker, Paul Renner. former Speaker of the House, Paul Renner wa is a current candidate for governor and one of the leading candidates for governor according to some major polling that we just conducted ourselves. So we wanted to invite him over to kind of talk about the results of our poll and and and really what that kind of speaks as far as you know i Greg Fink: Correct. Scott Miller: you know, his you know, just how competitive this race is. And and and it's you know, it's you know, I before we even get into that I wanna kinda s ⁓ wanna talk about how, you know, you know, we've been pollsters for a long time ⁓ and and, know, people try to make so much out of out of certain polls and we we say often that most of the polls that you see released publicly are ⁓ are are released to Paul Renner: Right, yeah, the five hundred employees, you're managing all of that, you're managing the the the flow of legislation, what goes and what doesn't go, what priorities are, and and then you're working until your earlier point with your Everything that passes the House has to pass the Senate or never makes it to the governor. And I had a much more moderate and and we're good friends, but she would tell you she was she's much more in the moderate lane of of the Party. I'm more a DeSanta style when it comes to Greg Fink: Right. Scott Miller: generate a an accomplishment, you know, to to to say to do fundraising or or to try to manifest something that's not necessarily true. Our polls, you know, you know, we go for nothing but the facts. ⁓ I'm telling you, anyone that's telling you this race is any kind of a lock right now is flat lying to you and is just trying to effect an you know affect a solution, you know, affect an outcome, you know, to to manifest the truth. ⁓ So, know, right now where where we see it, Paul Renner: philosophy. But I was speaker, conservatives won every battle because I worked with her to navigate the that we could get done. There were a few things that she wouldn't go as far as I wanted to go. If it was like permitless carry I would have thrown open into that and and passed it. But we were glad to be able to get that done. You know, heartbeat protection. She wanted exceptions. We wanted heartbeat. ⁓ That was another example, nonetheless, you know, made that those two great conservative wins my time Greg Fink: Exactly. Scott Miller: The ⁓ the winner of the race right now is the undecided. Paul Renner: Right. Scott Miller: because by far they have a larger share of the polling sample anyone else. And so it is a wide open race. And people who are supporting a one guy today, man, you know, so so the ball is kinda rolling. So so well welcome to the show, Mr. Paul, and let let's l let's let you get started with a with how opening statement of some kind. Paul Renner: Speaker, as well as universal school choice, ending DEI, transgender surgeries on minors, boys and girls' bathrooms, you know, parental rights, on on it goes, the things that we accomplished, protecting kids from online pornography and addictive social media platforms, and just a whole bunch of things that are ⁓ major conservative that we associate with the free of Florida when you hear the governor talk about ⁓ those legislative wins, if not 10 out of 10, 9 out of 10 of were on my Well I I agree with you, Scott, is this race is wide open and as you pointed out, you know Undecided is the front runner and has been for some time, which is bad for Donald's because he's been in the race so long has not been able to close the deal. I just think, you know, a guy that's got a Trump endorsement where media is full of never Byron comments all over social media, and that's what I see among the base when I go to events. That is not for somebody who purports to be the front runner. And so we everywhere go in events, we see people coming our way. That gives us a lot of and encouragement that it watch and were coming out of the House ⁓ driven by me that executive role atop the Florida House of Representatives, really leading the legislature in that fashion. Scott Miller: Well, you know, there there there is the old the old joke about the about the freshman congressman that meets the meets the experienced veteran and says he's here do battle with the enemy and he says, Who's the enemy? He says, Yeah, well the the the the Democrats He says, ⁓ they're they're the opposition, they're not the enemy. The Senate, that's the enemy. ⁓ Paul Renner: over time as people give any kind of comparison, a two-minute comparison, that we will win this race. Scott Miller: Well, I can tell you my my mother and her her childhood friend growing up who have a they have a a monthly little meeting ⁓ you know, lunch that they go to. And the and and her her best friend was married to Curtis Golden, who locally was a district attorney or st state attorney around here for decades. And they are very hard about not voting for Donalds. They are they're desperately seeking people and when I t when I started talking to them apparently I'm gonna have to go ha go to lunch with her and her little group ⁓ so I kind of Paul Renner: Right. Yeah. they they're hard to they're hard to deal with. There's was no appetite for some some of the things we wanted to do and so we had to just, you know, grin and it, but we got as much done as possible. Scott Miller: Right. Greg Fink: Nan na na now with the g with the campaign going on right now, I mean, what seems to be the biggest issue that you draw from from being in the house, being a speaker that you correlate to on the ground right now, currently that you see when you're meeting all these people throughout the state? I mean what what what's the biggest issue that you you know that you basically take from that to to now? And because a lot of things have changed, but a lot of things haven't. Scott Miller: give them the education on on on the candidates. but ⁓ i they are a hard no on on Donalds themselves. So I mean th th they don't know who they're supporting yet, but they know it's not him. Paul Renner: Yeah. Yeah, I think some of the undecided is actually decided on Donald's what I believe. from what I'm seeing and then they whether it's me or one of the other candidates that they're supporters in each of those camps, ⁓ and that I think there's a huge chunk of people who just want anybody but Donald's. And so again, not good for the front runner if he wants to get to fifty percent or win this thing. And we believe that as people do look and compare the candidates, because we experience this every day at events, that they'll our way realizing that ⁓ on experience, years in the military, two Yeah, I mean, you know, I left the speakership pretty happy not to ever get back involved in politics and and then you see really affordability front and center is a thing that you know that people are very, very concerned about. People can't pay their taxes, their insurance or electric bills. We have concrete plans to do to address all of that. My property tax plan, which I like a lot better than what's on the ballot, would not just eliminate of property taxes but all of property taxes while also having that Greg Fink: That's the thing that there's, mean... Paul Renner: Wars, former prosecutor, business owner, partner in a business, on results, the most successful two years the governor said in any legislature in America. ⁓ I led the legislature, when conservatives won every battle on we've got the property tax proposal that's the best of the I mean the only in the group, nobody else has one. And public corruption, human trafficking, health freedom, you name it, and then on leadership going to the fight when others run from the fight, fighting amendment three and joining the governor on school board races when these backstop the governor wanted and replacement taxes from people who vacation here, have second homes here, speculate here to make sure that we're covering police, fire, ⁓ know, the the necessary functions of local government. so I've got some replacement taxes that the plan on the ballot does not have to make sure we're not defunding the police in the process, but also really rid of taxes for homeowners as well as some help for small businesses. And we'll other candidates sent out a post on X. That's not leadership. We leaned in and to the fight, didn't wait for the fight to come to us. And when people see that, realize that I'm the logical person to carry on and defend and protect the free state of Florida. sure we cabin local government so they're not just shifting, you know, one tax you don't like into ten taxes you don't like. So needs to be a comprehensive approach. I'm not a you know I guess you can argue it's better than nothing, but I'm not a particularly big fan with what the legislature ultimately delivered on that. so our plan again goes a lot bigger on the benefit side but also has ⁓ those replacement to make sure that there's a fund there for our cops or firefighters, you know, those necessary functions, our schools ⁓ are necessary of government. Scott Miller: Well you know, Greg and I were talking the other day about you know how people, you know, talk about executive experience, honestly. what what were you saying about that, Greg? Greg Fink: Yeah, basically, you know, whenever you have a bystander as a regular legislature who's just, you know, and but when you have it, we have an executive doing everything, ⁓ actually have somebody who actually is bringing that to the table. And you being the executive, the Speaker of the House, which is a whole different aspect and a whole different part of being the legislature than just regular state rep or a state You bring that whole other to the table. Paul Renner: government. Greg Fink: Right. Now now now I guess you just got endorsed here by the Fraternal Orial Police here in Florida. Paul Renner: Yes, I did. The largest police organization the state, I think 25,000 strong. You know, we've always stood, I've always stood shoulder to shoulder with our law enforcement officers ⁓ as only prosecutor in the race. I've spoken clearly about the fact that we will have a safe state when I'm governor. I'll tell you death penalty is one of those that need reform where we need to go in a lot stronger direction. The average time on row is over 30 years. And we're talking about people, not every murder gets the death penalty. Greg Fink: And Byron doesn't have any kind of leadership like that. He doesn't have any kind of executive experience like that. And so whenever you take that executive experience from the speakership and take it to the governor seat, I mean, it's a lot better fit. And it's a lot more logical fit because I mean, basically Byron has just done nothing but, you know, vote with the gang, vote with the crowd. He's not doing anything to lead anything. And that's what people don't realize. Being a governor is about being a leader as well. You led the House through several different issues and Paul Renner: People that rape and kill children, people that kill cops. people should not be gaming the system. They'll have three years for appeal. That's it. ⁓ they finish that appellate process, they make all their appeals then. They don't wait 30 years and say, ⁓ my lawyer was drunk the day of trial and I need a new trial ⁓ gaming the system when the death warrant comes down from the governor. So we're going to make sure that families go don't don't grow old and die before they ever see justice for their loved ones. And I think that's an offense to the ⁓ to the Mm-hmm. Greg Fink: several different accomplishments. And in order to get to that point there, you had to be a leader personally in order to elevate yourself to that point. They don't just put random people as speakers. I mean, you had to have that kind of mentality to be there and that kind of, you know, pedigree to be there. in order to run for governor, it's a really good step over. Paul Renner: rule of law what the way we're doing it right now will go after public corruption. If you're making money off of things in Washington, D.C. as a congressman that you know that nobody else knows, should be recalled. You should come home. We don't need that. ⁓ know, I'm the only one in this race that's that's ⁓ not I mean I I shouldn't say that. ⁓ I not taking public dollars in this race. I what should say is that Byron Donald's and Jay Collins are both taking taxpayer money ⁓ to fund campaign. It's something I put on the ballot in 2024 to eliminate that ⁓ something that Scott Miller: You ha I I think you have to be an accomplished cat herder. Greg Fink: Exactly. Very good at hurting the cats. Scott Miller: and and yeah, I I I because I agree with Greg, you know, that there's not r ⁓ you know, it's really underappreciated. People think of you as just another legislator that just happens to be in charge of everybody, but it's you're you're really the guy that's that's you know, bringing the course of people along and and people who have very diverging interests often and you have to bring those people together to you to affect your a an agenda and and that's a big deal. i it takes a it takes a talented person to do that. Paul Renner: Democrats put in our constitution to allow for taxpayer funding for campaigns. do you call yourself a conservative and that money? ⁓ And I'm not doing that. I could have gotten tens of thousands of dollars, ⁓ but the right thing to do. And so I to me that is disqualifying for both of those candidates. ⁓ That's kind of public corruption I think we need to end. ⁓ We to make sure we're pushing back against human trafficking. I've got a plan for all of that, and that's why law enforcement has come ⁓ to me, as well as you know, taking care of them when it comes to paying bonuses and making sure. Sure, we're doing right by our police officers, protecting them in the Halo Act so that you can't come in and spit on them, kick them when they're trying to make an arrest. They can they can arrest you if you're warned and you keep coming into their area. That would have saved lives in Minnesota. blue states don't take act look after their police officers. They've turned the moral world upside down and turn good guys into bad guys and bad guys into good guys where ⁓ are good and cops are bad. ⁓ will that will never see the light of day when I'm governor. Greg Fink: That's awesome. Scott Miller: Yeah, that that was frustrating. We we we talked extensively about that Minnesota thing when it was going on and it it was just it was just amazing that people, you know, the ⁓ the video that you ever see about it on any major media always clips out the part where these li ⁓ where where these people have been provoking these these ICE agents day long are, you know, parked in the middle of the street in a way that they know is obstructing the street ⁓ and they're at like, I don't know what you're talking about. I'm just sitting here minding my business. Why are you bothering me? Greg Fink: Mm-hmm. Scott Miller: Like, come on, really? And th and they're actually trained to do that because I mean we've seen yeah seen the documents that elicit these steps that they take and how to obstruct the cops supposedly without getting arrested or in a way that if you get arrested we can bail you out and take care of you immediately. And it's just it's it's just honestly I think that that sort of thing there ought to be prosecutions for you know for conspiracy with those things for those people to get back that that get killed like that, like almost felony murder type. Greg Fink: Exactly. I mean it ⁓ yeah. Scott Miller: Thanks. Paul Renner: Yep, right. Yeah, and the other problem is the blue state governors and mayors up there, you know, held back local law enforcement. There's a right and wrong way to do it. You can protest to your heart's content in Florida. You have an absolute First Amendment right to do that. the police need to be there in force to to maintain order, maintain an area. This time, manner, place is what the courts say to your free speech. You don't it you know, spitting in the in on the, you know, right in the right ear of a cop as he's trying to make an arrest. You can stand on the sidewalk ⁓ and you can and And shout and say whatever you want to say, the police ⁓ to be able to do their job and you can't obstruct them and with them or you will be arrested on the spot here in Florida thanks to that bill we passed when I was speaker. Greg Fink: Yeah. I remember I mean, you know, we we we we had all this protest with the Black Lives Matters protests and then Tifa protests and all that throughout Florida here just a few for a few years ago. And we were ⁓ in Pensacola, some guy jumped on a car and the car took him all the way over the three mile bridge. And and he was like, you know, they they're assaulting me. I'm like, you know, you shouldn't have jumped on the car. You know, I mean i th there's a freedom of speech but there's you know, there's no freedom of violence. There's no freedom of vandalization. It doesn't work like that. And the whole idea here that Scott Miller: Remember that. Paul Renner: ⁓ exactly. Greg Fink: the the the state, you know, and everything i is looking at the way it is. You know, sans did a good job on enforcing that and hopefully whenever you you become governor, you will carry on the tradition of enforcing the the standards and enhancing them a lot more. Because I mean, I do think that a lot of people will realize that when they come to Florida they're not gonna protest recklessly like they do in the blue states. and that's the tradition we need keep as far as that that enforcement goes. Paul Renner: Absolutely right. Yeah, we're we're gonna be when I when I give speeches to folks, we talk about making Florida affordable again and I I listed those. We talk about keeping it safe I'd listed some of those things that I'll do as governor to make sure we make it even more safe than it is today. ⁓ keeping it free is the other thing, whether that's ⁓ educational freedom, health freedom, things I believe passionately in, but also protecting against the threats like the red threat and the green threat of China and Islam. Those are real threats to Floridians. Greg Fink: Right. Paul Renner: We see China's presence. We when I was speaker, we banned the sale of land to the ⁓ that's part of the Chinese Communist Party. we need to make sure they're not in our universities as professors or students because they are spies. They're here to steal our and surveil us and spy on us. ⁓ So imagine Right, imagine that. Well, it's not shouldn't shock anybody, but nonetheless, we let them in as professors years ago. This is back when I was in the legislature, we we had to come in and start to make some laws about that because they were literally stealing. Greg Fink: No way. Paul Renner: Our research you know academics they don't they don't understand that they're here for nefarious reasons, so they're sharing all of our information with them and they're taking it back ⁓ China to build missiles and everything else and and and semiconductors, know, that are better than ours or as good as ours by stealing our information. So, and and the Islam threat is a real one. You know, there's 500,000, a half a million Muslims in Florida, and I've said clearly that you know, spent 20 years fighting them abroad. They said so we don't have to fight them at here at home, and we just kind of open the door. Greg Fink: Exactly. Paul Renner: And let them in. a thousand years plus of history has shown that those two cultures do not mix. They said out loud that Islam will never coexist with Christianity, Judaism, or the American constitution or American way of life. So as we'll push back against enclaves, against slaughterhouses, against using our educational to fund any kind of Sharia teachings, and really push back. I would encourage the federal government. I'm on record saying we stop all immigration from those countries, ⁓ denaturalize. And deport those who are committing fraud in Minnesota or have participated in ties to terrorism will push back against Muslim Brotherhood and care and take a hard line to not let them get any further toehold here in Florida. Because look, if one out of a thousand would take the life of the person you love the most as your governor, I will not take that risk. And they're already calling Tampa, where I am here today, the dearborn, new dearborn Michigan of America, because they're taking over parts of Tampa and that. enclave fashion where people no longer you know go. Scott Miller: Well you know, the hi in in the h history of Islam, in the history of of Muhammad, in his early days when when when he was weak and and was just founding his movement and he and he didn't have a have an army behind him, he was preaching peace and tolerance and and and why can't we just all get along? And the moment he had an army capable of of taking over, then he transitioned into the warlord and from that point on it wasn't tolerate, you know, the non believers, it was attacks, murder and you know, and and imprison or or enslave the non believers. So I don't know why something they've preached for the entire history of Islam would change today. Paul Renner: Yeah, and people need to understand it it makes demands, unlike Christianity, it makes very serious demands on all secular institutions, the media, business, what you can eat, what you can't eat, all these things that ⁓ whether you like it or not, and and you they're not going to assimilate to us, they will force assimilation to them. And we need to be steely-eyed about it. I I'm the only one that's been clearly on record ⁓ on issue, and I know it's an issue for a lot of people here in Tampa, but across the state, they're really Greg Fink: Exactly. Scott Miller: Well, I can see that a guy yeah I I can see how a guy who was in in Democrat politics for the early portion of his life, I can't see how he's gonna really, you know, you know, these values going forward. I mean he I mean he cosmetically he might hold them, but I don't know if deeply internally he's really gonna hold those values. Paul Renner: Well, Scott, you're going to see any major reforms because look at AI data centers, for example. Donald's has received five million dollars the people who want to build hyperscale data centers across our state. ⁓ He's hard yes, I'm a hard no because it's going to drive up our electric rates. But what they're offering today is an absolute. Absolute bad deal for Florida. And I will come in governor and will pass a law to stop all that in its tracks because it's not a good deal for our state. And so these kinds of things are things that Byron Donalds will never well, he's gonna gonna make sure he said that we want to lead on hyperscale data centers and we have ⁓ plenty of pristine to use. His words, I think we should some pristine land in pristine use, ⁓ in my opinion. keep of Florida wide. be able to catch fish and eat the fish we catch. ⁓ about we do that? I don't want to see a land remembered become a land forgotten. ⁓ take care of our natural resources, I'll protect. On my Florida First Agenda, that means protecting our land, ⁓ our people, protecting our way of life. Greg Fink: Exactly. Now when it comes to the home insurance issues, what plan do you have really to address the ⁓ home insurance? Paul Renner: Well, I'm again the only one with a specific plan to reduce it by ten to twenty percent. We do that through a number of measures that will make your eyes glaze over. But real quickly, there's a tax on your homeowner's premium. We ⁓ suspend least temporarily, if not repeal permanently, that tax. lower immediately, obviously, the ta the ⁓ amount of money you pay on your premium. There is a major move for the CAT fund, which which is is accessed by insurers to move that down and make it accessible for Less severe storms, which will also reduce premiums. are things we can do with respect to how the CAT fund funds adjusters and how they get their claims paid that is causing a drive-up in ⁓ cost actually less response time when you have a that they don't come out as fast. We want people and insurers to pay claims, get after paying claims as fast as they take premiums. so we need that efficiency, and the way we have the funding system, it's a disincentive for them to get out there quickly, ⁓ your claim, pay your claim quickly, ⁓ it also forces them to drive up those costs. So we'll reform that as well, and you know take measures that that get after some of the things did in the litigation abuse realm that will lower premiums by at least 10, if not 20 percent. Scott Miller: you I I know people that'd just be happy if they'd stopped going up every year. Greg Fink: Great. I mean th the the the reforms are huge and and they need to be done a lot more actively. But with part of being such a hur hurricane driven state and you being the only person on in this race who actually had a leadership role during the last few hurricanes that we had, I mean how are we gonna you know, I think you know, the the basically parlaying that experience of leading through legislature of ⁓ inner you know, emergency control or emergency management and how, you know, what makes you best suited as a governor to to handle emergencies, to handle those kind of situations, because we're gonna have a lot of hurricanes. I mean, we got lucky last year with nothing, hitting Florida, but we usually have like one or two, maybe three a year. And so basically the governor does a lot with, you know, ⁓ and hurting all the cats as far as the management, emergency management systems go throughout the state. So tell a little bit about what you'll handle how you'll handle that. Paul Renner: Right. Well I would be the third naval officer in a road, Scott, Ronda Santis, and me, and and you can be an army officer or whatever or military, but in the military that experience is really repetitive training on general quarters in the case of of the Navy. We would we would drill for fires, nuclear attack, biological attack, you know, chemical attack, ⁓ all these over and over and over again. And that's how you do good emergency management. You make sure that it's smooth, that you're ready to to go that you're prepared before the storm ever comes. so you'll expect to see the same kind of quality leadership from me that you've seen from ⁓ two prior the current and prior governor ⁓ it comes to hurricanes based on a strong knowledge of the importance of that, how you go about doing it. But that kind of thing is exactly what government must do well. When the hurricanes come, government better perform well. Greg Fink: Exactly. Yeah, I remember whenever Rick Scott had ⁓ I think at the time the largest evacuation plan in the history of Florida. Whenever ⁓ I guess Hurricane Irma is hitting South Florida and Naples area. And basically the that Rick Scott showed during that time and also all the, you know, after that, you know, the the ⁓ numerous hurricanes after and the Santis did during Hurricane Michael and so on and so forth. I mean, that that that that leadership is ⁓ I think void with the other people ringing your race. I don't think Byron or Collins or well we already know Fishback and Williams have experience at that level. And so I mean, you know, I think, you know, with your candidacy and it with you running, I think that's the ⁓ leadership that you bring to the table that counters theirs in a huge level. Paul Renner: No, that's absolutely right. And and you know, it's a lifetime of leadership under pressure, twenty years in the military, two wars as a prosecutor, you know, prosecuting habitual, violent habitual offenders where there's a victim beside you counting on you, so that that guy doesn't go out and and and c commit another crime 'cause that's why they call him habitual. and all of that, you know, starting a business on my own. being a partner in a business. of those have their own various forms of pressure and ⁓ And ⁓ I've been through the crucible of leadership ⁓ and course the Speaker of the House leading you know ⁓ hundreds employees ⁓ to sure that the state functioned. We had a balanced budget. We we did our budgets unlike these last two years, not only on time but early. We had record relief. We took some of our debt and actually paid some of that down ahead of schedule. So we're on the way to eliminating all state debt in Florida. The governor by the time he leaves will be there about halfway ⁓ expect as governor in eight years to eliminate that state debt altogether. You know, that's that's leadership, that's ⁓ the experience that I bring to the table that the other guys aren't anywhere close. ⁓ Greg Fink: Yeah. Scott Miller: Stra strange that we can do that in Florida, but California can't even come close. Paul Renner: Yeah. Well the crazy story on California is, you know, we had all this money, it's COVID money, and we put it into roads and bridges and, you know, basic infrastructure, the land wildlife corridor, you to helping farmers stay in farming and all that. California had a sixty plus billion dollar deficit at back end of that because they took all that money and created new programs with employees and stuff on one time money ⁓ and permanent programs with one time money. It's just can't make this stuff up. And so ⁓ and we Greg Fink: Right. No, you can't. Paul Renner: that that was a one-time infusion. We put it in things that would last for 30, 40, 50 years or longer, you know, 100 years. And so that's you do when you have that kind of opportunity and and not, you know, blow it all on on or create new programs that that you can't fund after the money's gone. Greg Fink: Right. Exactly. Now you you mentioned affordability and you know, we are a tourist state and I mean we we I get that. And so we have a lot of service industry jobs out. But what plan do you have to bring higher paying jobs and in those types of ⁓ businesses to Florida here to where people can make more than just the minimum wage to to to make a living? 'Cause I mean cost of living is going up, rents going up, mortgages are going up. We already know about gas prices and until the home insurance comes down it's sustaining or going up. And so I mean well right now, Disney World and Epcot and and Busch Gardens and all those, they they they generate a lot of jobs throughout the state and and for for their communities. But also know where I live in Flagler County, we have a lot of growth going on and we have a lot of businesses coming here, but is that gonna stay the same level or do you plan on increasing that or what's your plan on that? Paul Renner: Well I think you're asking me two questions. So one is about development, people moving into the state. On that one I would say I I right now where I what the way I feel and based on what I feel from everybody I've talked to across the state is if could build a wall at the Florida, Georgia line and make New York pay for it, I'd do it just to give us a little breathing room to catch up and on our o you know, all the things that that are concerns that are driving up those prices. But in of the economy, we want a growing economy, we want n ⁓ businesses can pay great wages. Greg Fink: I am, yeah. Paul Renner: And hire people. I think it starts with a great educational system that I I led again, universal school choice, making sure we were investing in reading scholarships and vocational and technical training is very, very important to get those great skilled trades that pay well over minimum wage. You can make a great living. Greg Fink: Exactly Paul Renner: And so it's a great way to make a living, provide for your family. we'll invest in that. it means keeping our taxes low, both no income tax, obviously at the state level, ⁓ lowering property tax, though. My property tax plan includes small businesses, which also makes it superior to on offer on the ballot ⁓ this November. so I think that's another factor to look at because when you relieve some of that tax burden on businesses, they can pay people more, they can hire more, ⁓ they can grow and we know Greg Fink: ⁓ okay. Exactly. Paul Renner: that our small businesses are the driver overwhelmingly, you know, 80 plus percent of jobs are coming from small businesses. And so ⁓ will be a champion for small business. I always have been keeping those regulations under to allow them to really just you be innovators, create wealth, you know, do the things they do well. And ⁓ in course of that, that means a lot of great jobs for people to provide for themselves and their families. Scott Miller: Yeah, I think you're really kind of a victim of your own success, honestly, because, you know, what we're creating in the free state of Florida is something very similar to America. ⁓ all these people to try to even break into America f you know i illegally. We are the same sort of thing for the blue state people who are fleeing the blue states as refugees to come participate in our success. ⁓ just gotta hope hopefully we slow ⁓ down a little bit, you know, t s nothing exceeds like excess, they say. Greg Fink: Exactly. I'll break into Florida. Paul Renner: Yeah. Yeah, Scott, I've said what you just said almost word for word. you're absolutely right is that we we see, you know, these failing states, these blue states, ⁓ refugees like refugees coming into America, refugees leaving blue states to come into Florida, ⁓ o aces of freedom. and so we are a victim of our success. And you know, look, I mean we can't I can't build that wall at the at the Georgia Alabama line, but what I do in the property tax proposal is those replacement taxes are really ⁓ gonna some of the people that are coming in and buying. Buying homes, let them let them pay taxes for a period of time and when they truly to make Florida their permanent home, allow them to get those benefits, not right away, because we don't want to create a gold rush ⁓ people coming in from New York, New Jersey, et cetera, California if have no homestead property taxes. So my plan ⁓ has plan for that to stop that from happening. where Florida's not a nice place to live or a place we can afford to live anymore. And so that's kind of where we are. don't want it to go get any worse. And I've got plans to pull levers to make those costs go down ⁓ addressing Scott's question about helping businesses to grow jobs, grow wages going forward ⁓ through educational system, ⁓ vocational training, that's really as well to make sure those jobs are there for them. Greg Fink: Right. Well I ⁓ I know ⁓ I probably rang a little bit over time here with you and everything. So is there anything you want to tell us about your campaign, how they can find out more about your campaign, how they can donate, how they can get a yard sign or make a phone call or do anything to volunteer? Paul Renner: Sure. Sure, you can go on to voterenter.com you want to throw in some help for us, fifty bucks, a hundred bucks, whatever you can manage that'll power our campaign. You can go on there and volunteer. You can go on there and see all of the plans we've just we've talked about and then some that we didn't talk about. On we've we've also said look, we're gonna make sure Florida jobs are for Florida residents. I'm not gonna have any H1B visas in state or state contracts. We're gonna take care of Floridians who make their living, their home here. That is what Florida First means to. Me period full stop. We're gonna get rid of ⁓ public assistance for illegals. you shouldn't be on get drawing welfare or free education or health care benefits. If you're not here legally, that's up the cost of things. And so we will take strong stands ⁓ to this great state and protect the people who make Florida home. And I just to conclude with one final thing I don't know that I mentioned, but the school board raises amendment three and four that I joined the not my job description to fight off. Those amendments to make sure we had common sense conservatives in our school boards. are things that don't come in my job description as speaker or as in the governors as governor. And other guys in this race, you know, just didn't show up. They sent out a tweet, but that's not leadership. You've got to know that people ⁓ are for this state, the left is coming for this state. Why would believe they'll stand up and fight as governor when they didn't stand up and fight in their current role? I did. And if you want somebody who's going to lean in and fight like this governor, like this president, does at the national level, you're looking at them. It would be an honor to have your support, share with your friends, follow us on social media, and hope to see you out on the campaign trail. Scott Miller: Well that I think ⁓ think that's about as great a point to wrap up on as any. Speaker, I I appreciate you taking the time to talk to us and you know hopeful hopefully you'll have a I mean, I I am optimistic your campaign. I think you're gonna do great. I can't wait to see the results. Greg Fink: Exactly. And I look forward to and definitely look forward to having you on the show again here throughout the campaign and and don't be a stranger. I mean, I I I think you definitely have you're definitely hitting all the right points right on target and it's ⁓ I mean it's gonna be an interesting race. I mean, you're running against a very interesting cast of characters. And so just hang in there, just keep doing what you're doing. The Lord's gonna provide everything ⁓ and ⁓ gonna be a good race. Paul Renner: Thank you guys. Great to be with you. Scott Miller: ⁓ Yeah, please come back. Paul Renner: That's right. ⁓ duty is ours, results are God's. Greg Fink: Exactly. Scott Miller: There you go. Love it. Love Love it. Greg Fink: Okay, and guys, go ahead and go ahead and like us, ⁓ share a comment. We're on about eight or nine different platforms and go check Paul's website here and go check him out. He's ⁓ running for governor and thank you guys for us.
