Willard to renegotiate fiver optic agreement
The Willard City Council unanimously voted at its July 23 meeting to renegotiate Connext’s fiber franchise agreement before it expires Dec. 8. Willard City Attorney Amy Hugie said Connext paid the city a one-time fee under the existing agreement, while a replacement could include a franchise fee of about 3.5%. The nonexclusive agreement allows Connext to install and operate fiber infrastructure in city streets and other public rights-of-way.
