Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome.
- 0:01Speaker 2: It is verdict with Senator Ted Cruz Ben Ferguson with
- 0:05Speaker 2: you and Senator I cannot believe this is the second
- 0:08Speaker 2: Sunday evening in the last couple of months where you
- 0:11Speaker 2: and I are having a conversation about another assassination attempt
- 0:16Speaker 2: against Donald Trump.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Well, let us start by saying, thank god, President Trump
- 0:22Speaker 3: is okay, that he was not injured, that he was
- 0:25Speaker 3: not God forbid killed in this assassination attempt. But at
- 0:30Speaker 3: the same time, every one of us should be horrified
- 0:36Speaker 3: and should be angry that for the second time in sixty.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Four days, a would.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Be assassin with a high powered rifle has targeted President Trump.
- 0:49Speaker 3: In the first instance, the assassin got off several shots,
- 0:55Speaker 3: ended up murdering one man in the crowd and injuring
- 0:58Speaker 3: two others. It up hitting Donald Trump, hitting him in
- 1:02Speaker 3: the ear, coming within a half inch of killing President Trump.
- 1:08Speaker 3: With yesterday's attempted assassination, the details are still not entirely clear.
- 1:13Speaker 3: More will come out in the days and weeks ahead,
- 1:17Speaker 3: but what we do know is yet another assassin with
- 1:19Speaker 3: a high powered rifle with a scope was there, presumably
- 1:24Speaker 3: intending to murder, to assassinate Donald J. Trump, and he
- 1:30Speaker 3: got within three hundred to five hundred yards from the
- 1:34Speaker 3: President with a high powered rifle. The Secret Service saw
- 1:38Speaker 3: him intercepted him. The early reports are that the Secret
- 1:41Speaker 3: Service fired and they now have a suspect in custody,
- 1:46Speaker 3: so the President wasn't harmed. But for this to happen twice,
- 1:53Speaker 3: twice in sixty four days is an incredible indictment of
- 1:59Speaker 3: the secure that is being provided right now to President Trump.
- 2:03Speaker 3: The decisions on the security are made by political appointees.
- 2:08Speaker 3: They're made by Alejandro Majorcas, the Secretary of Homeland Security.
- 2:13Speaker 3: They're made by the acting head of the Secret Service,
- 2:16Speaker 3: and presumably they're made by some combination of Joe Biden
- 2:19Speaker 3: and Kamala Harris. And despite now two assassination attempts, one
- 2:29Speaker 3: with shots fired, the other thankfully prevented, we think before
- 2:34Speaker 3: shots could be fired, the Secret Service leadership is still
- 2:40Speaker 3: not doing what it takes to protect President Trump. Now.
- 2:46Speaker 3: I get that Alejandro Mayorcus is not going to vote
- 2:48Speaker 3: for Trump. I get that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris
- 2:50Speaker 3: are not, but elections in America should not be decided
- 2:57Speaker 3: by some jackass with a gun shooting your opponent, and
- 3:02Speaker 3: you want to talk about affronts to democracy. That this
- 3:06Speaker 3: administration continues to fail to provide the security that is
- 3:12Speaker 3: needed to President Trump is utterly and completely unacceptable. And
- 3:16Speaker 3: whether you like Donald Trump or whether you can't stand
- 3:19Speaker 3: Donald Trump, you ought to be outraged that this keeps
- 3:24Speaker 3: being allowed.
- 3:25Speaker 1: To happen, no doubt.
- 3:27Speaker 2: And if you look back at the list of what
- 3:30Speaker 2: he has gone through, and we're going to talk about
- 3:32Speaker 2: that in a second, what got us to this point
- 3:35Speaker 2: where this is now like the next thing on the list,
- 3:38Speaker 2: It is shocking when you look at it. I want
- 3:40Speaker 2: to talk to you real quick about the one year
- 3:42Speaker 2: anniversary of the horrific IMMAs attacks on Israel, and still
- 3:46Speaker 2: the Holy Land continues to be attacked on multiple fronts.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Deadly threats are increasing in northern Israel. Constant rocket attacks
- 3:54Speaker 2: from Terrace back by Iran Hesbob been fired at Israel,
- 3:58Speaker 2: causing widespread damage as well. Since the war started, the
- 4:02Speaker 2: International Fellowship of Christians and Jews has been on the
- 4:05Speaker 2: forefront of Israel, addressing the needs of the most vulnerable.
- 4:08Speaker 2: It is incredible to see how many of you that
- 4:11Speaker 2: listen to this show have gotten involved with IFCJ. Now,
- 4:15Speaker 2: when I started partnering with IFCJ, it was a simple
- 4:18Speaker 2: reason why I went to stand with the actual people
- 4:21Speaker 2: in Israel, and your life saving donations have already helped
- 4:24Speaker 2: provide incredible amounts of emergency food as well as critical
- 4:28Speaker 2: security needs such as flat jackets, firefighting equipment, armored vehicles
- 4:33Speaker 2: including armored ambulances that have actually been used to save
- 4:36Speaker 2: countless lives, and bomb shelters. This is what IFCJ is
- 4:42Speaker 2: doing now. We're looking for five hundred listeners to join
- 4:45Speaker 2: the fellowship and me by donating one hundred and fifty
- 4:48Speaker 2: dollars to meet the urgent security needs on the ground
- 4:51Speaker 2: in Israel. And thanks to the generous IFCJ supporter, your
- 4:56Speaker 2: gift will be matched, doubling your impact in the Holy Life.
- 5:00Speaker 2: So if you want to help the people in Israel,
- 5:02Speaker 2: you can make a gift right now by calling eight
- 5:04Speaker 2: eight eight for eight eight IFCJ. That's eight eight eight
- 5:10Speaker 2: four eight eight IFCJ or four three two five. You
- 5:14Speaker 2: can also go online and you can donate securely at
- 5:17Speaker 2: support IFCJ dot org to give. That's one word support
- 5:24Speaker 2: IFCJ dot org. Israel needs are support now more than
- 5:27Speaker 2: ever before. So stand with the people in Israel today
- 5:30Speaker 2: support IFCJ.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Dot Org. Senator.
- 5:34Speaker 2: You look at how we got to the point where
- 5:36Speaker 2: we're here now, and I think it's really important that
- 5:39Speaker 2: we look back retrospectively at how we got here. It
- 5:44Speaker 2: first started when they wanted to get rid of Donald Trump,
- 5:46Speaker 2: and there was not one, but two impeachment.
- 5:48Speaker 1: The first one was a coup attempt.
- 5:49Speaker 2: They tried to overthrow the will of the voters by
- 5:51Speaker 2: saying that Donald Trump colluded with the Russians off Adossia,
- 5:54Speaker 2: that the Democratic Party knew was a lie, the FBI
- 5:57Speaker 2: knew was a lie. It was paid for Hillary Quinton's
- 6:00Speaker 2: campaign in the Democrat National Committee. When that didn't work,
- 6:04Speaker 2: they moved on to another impeachment. And when that didn't work,
- 6:06Speaker 2: they said, okay, we're going to go to law fare.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Four indictments against Trump, thirty four victions, ninety one charges.
- 6:15Speaker 2: None of that worked so far. The man's still standing.
- 6:18Speaker 2: So what's left You just take him out? Not one now,
- 6:22Speaker 2: but we're talking about two assassination attempts. This should scare
- 6:27Speaker 2: the hell out of every American that this is where
- 6:28Speaker 2: we are with the left in this country.
- 6:31Speaker 3: It's truly horrific. And before we get into how this was,
- 6:37Speaker 3: why this was allowed to unfold, and what the security
- 6:40Speaker 3: failures were, let's just start with assessing what happened yesterday.
- 6:46Speaker 3: And I want you to listen to Sheriff Rick Bradshaw
- 6:48Speaker 3: as he described what happened yesterday and what exactly transpired.
- 6:53Speaker 1: All right, I'm thirty.
- 6:54Speaker 4: This afternoon call came out shots fired, that was called
- 6:58Speaker 4: in by the Secret Service. Because we're in constant contact
- 7:02Speaker 4: with them all the time, we were notified to that
- 7:06Speaker 4: and we had units here that immediately sealed off the area. Fortunately,
- 7:11Speaker 4: we were able to locate a witness that came to
- 7:14Speaker 4: us and said, hey, I saw the guy running out
- 7:16Speaker 4: of the bushes. He jumped into a black Nissan and
- 7:21Speaker 4: I took a picture of the vehicle and the tank,
- 7:24Speaker 4: which was great. So we had that information our real
- 7:29Speaker 4: time crimes that are put it out to the license
- 7:34Speaker 4: plate readers and we were able to get a hit
- 7:37Speaker 4: on that vehicle on I ninety five as it was
- 7:40Speaker 4: headed into Martin County.
- 7:42Speaker 3: We got a hold of Martin.
- 7:43Speaker 4: County Sheriff's office alerted them and they spotted the vehicle
- 7:48Speaker 4: and pulled it over and detained the guy. After that,
- 7:52Speaker 4: we took the victim.
- 7:54Speaker 3: I'm sorry.
- 7:54Speaker 4: The witness that witnessed the incident took flew him up
- 7:58Speaker 4: there and he identified as the person that he saw
- 8:01Speaker 4: running out of the bushes that jumped into the car.
- 8:04Speaker 4: Now in the bushes where this guy was is a
- 8:08Speaker 4: eight K forty seven style rifle with a scope, two
- 8:12Speaker 4: backpacks which were hung on the fifths that had a
- 8:15Speaker 4: ceramic tile in him, and a go pro which he
- 8:18Speaker 4: was going to take pictures of him. So those are
- 8:21Speaker 4: being process right now. The Secret Service agent that was
- 8:26Speaker 4: on the course and did a fantastic job. What they
- 8:29Speaker 4: do is they have an agent that jumps one hole
- 8:32Speaker 4: ahead of time to where the president was at and
- 8:35Speaker 4: he was able to spot this rifle barrel sticking out
- 8:38Speaker 4: of the fence and immediately engage that individual, at which
- 8:42Speaker 4: time the individual took off. So that's what we know
- 8:45Speaker 4: about the investigation. We have somebody in custody right now
- 8:48Speaker 4: that is a potential suspect. We got a little bit
- 8:51Speaker 4: more to work to do on it, but as we
- 8:53Speaker 4: usually do, as soon as we decide that, we're going
- 8:56Speaker 4: to book him into the county jail.
- 8:57Speaker 3: And the charges that he's going to be.
- 8:59Speaker 4: Booked into we'll get those to you and we'll get
- 9:01Speaker 4: a picture of them, and we'll get you his background.
- 9:04Speaker 4: So now I'm going to turn it over to the
- 9:06Speaker 4: representative of the Secret Service and he's going to make
- 9:10Speaker 4: brief statement.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Let's just stop there. And what I heard was, basically,
- 9:15Speaker 2: this is another miracle. He didn't have the protection he needed.
- 9:19Speaker 2: He's a guy that is out there playing golf one
- 9:25Speaker 2: fairway on a golf course, on a par fourst three
- 9:27Speaker 2: hundred plus yards. So that basically means if you've ever
- 9:30Speaker 2: played golf and you're on the tea box, you're looking
- 9:32Speaker 2: down the fairway and you see somebody up by the green,
- 9:33Speaker 2: that's how close the shooter was from what we understand
- 9:36Speaker 2: of the president. And if you want a perspective on
- 9:38Speaker 2: proximity with a high priorate rifle with a scope, this
- 9:42Speaker 2: is not that far. Goes back to the shooting. We
- 9:44Speaker 2: saw the assassination tiple last time, and they're like, yeah,
- 9:47Speaker 2: if you get in the tree line, like it's basically
- 9:50Speaker 2: lucky the draw if we see you or we don't
- 9:52Speaker 2: see you, because we just got a guy that goes
- 9:54Speaker 2: one the hole ahead and just kind of looks around
- 9:56Speaker 2: and we got lucky today.
- 9:57Speaker 1: That is unacceptable on so many different LEAs.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Yet again, a shooter with a high powered rifle and
- 10:04Speaker 3: a scope was able to get close to the president.
- 10:08Speaker 3: In this instance, the reports we've heard are that he
- 10:11Speaker 3: was between three and five hundred yards away. Now, three
- 10:14Speaker 3: to five hundred yards is not a terribly difficult shot
- 10:19Speaker 3: for a trained sniper, according.
- 10:23Speaker 1: To public reports.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Do you know the longest recorded sniper shot that has
- 10:28Speaker 3: been reported.
- 10:29Speaker 1: I'm going to guess it's over a mile or out
- 10:31Speaker 1: a mile, so it is over a mile.
- 10:34Speaker 3: The longest reported sniper shot is three eight and seventy
- 10:38Speaker 3: one yards. In other words, ten times as far as
- 10:42Speaker 3: this sniper was. Now that was that is that, there's
- 10:46Speaker 3: another one that was reported at three thousand and seventy
- 10:48Speaker 3: nine yards, And then they're a whole number of ones
- 10:53Speaker 3: that have been recorded and confirmed in excess of one
- 10:58Speaker 3: thousand yards. Now, those are world class snipers, those are
- 11:01Speaker 3: military snipers. But it's worth noting we know there have
- 11:05Speaker 3: been multiple reports of the nation of Iran has hired
- 11:09Speaker 3: hit men to kill Donald Trump. You would think a
- 11:13Speaker 3: military that is trying to murder someone, they wouldn't just
- 11:15Speaker 3: get someone off the street. They would get a trained
- 11:18Speaker 3: sniper from three to five hundred yards. You don't have
- 11:22Speaker 3: to be a world class sniper to hit a target,
- 11:24Speaker 3: particularly if you're able to brace the gun and take
- 11:28Speaker 3: time and aim, which presumably this shooter would have been
- 11:33Speaker 3: able to do. Now, as with Butler, Pennsylvania, I want
- 11:37Speaker 3: to praise the individual Secret Service agents who are protecting
- 11:40Speaker 3: Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, the ones immediately surrounding them
- 11:45Speaker 3: when the shots were fired, they leapt up there, put
- 11:48Speaker 3: their bodies in harm's way. They got President Trump out
- 11:51Speaker 3: of harm's way after he had been shot, and they
- 11:55Speaker 3: demonstrated great heroism in the moment. In this instance, the
- 11:58Speaker 3: early reports are the Secret Service agent spotted the sniper
- 12:03Speaker 3: rifle in the bushes, in the shrubbery, and there may
- 12:07Speaker 3: have been gunfire exchange. We don't know the exact details
- 12:10Speaker 3: right now, but their intervention prevented that sniper presumably from
- 12:16Speaker 3: getting a clean shot and possibly murdering President Trump. But
- 12:21Speaker 3: the question to ask is how on earth does this
- 12:25Speaker 3: keep happening? And you know, one of the things the
- 12:27Speaker 3: sheriff said there that is important. He said that the
- 12:33Speaker 3: reason that there was not complete perimeter protection was because
- 12:40Speaker 3: Trump is no longer the sitting president, and as a result,
- 12:43Speaker 3: the Secret Service has given him dramatically scaled down protection
- 12:47Speaker 3: to what they would have given him if he is
- 12:49Speaker 3: the president. Ben I am right now calling on Joe Biden,
- 12:55Speaker 3: who is theoretically still the commander in chief, to today
- 13:01Speaker 3: order the Secret Service to give Donald Trump full presidential
- 13:05Speaker 3: protection right now to attempted assassinations in sixty four days,
- 13:11Speaker 3: two failures by Secret Service for having woefully insufficient personnel.
- 13:17Speaker 3: If President Trump wins in November, less than two months away,
- 13:23Speaker 3: he will instantly get full presidential Secret Service protection on
- 13:28Speaker 3: election day. Given that fact, and given the threats and
- 13:32Speaker 3: the failures we have seen, the only reasonable and rational
- 13:35Speaker 3: thing to do is assigned President Trump right now a
- 13:39Speaker 3: full presidential detail that includes the perimeter coverage so that
- 13:44Speaker 3: you can't get a sniper that close. And if Joe
- 13:48Speaker 3: Biden doesn't do it, and by the way, if Kamala
- 13:51Speaker 3: Harris had any sense at all, she would join in
- 13:55Speaker 3: the call to do this. If Kamala Harris had sent
- 13:58Speaker 3: she'd stand up and say, I want to win at
- 14:00Speaker 3: the ballot box. I don't want my opponent murdered. We
- 14:04Speaker 3: need to make sure he has the protection he needs.
- 14:06Speaker 3: I don't think she'll do that, but it would be
- 14:08Speaker 3: unquestionably the right thing for her to do.
- 14:12Speaker 2: It's interesting that you mentioned this and you call for this.
- 14:15Speaker 2: It does seem like it's common sense. But if you
- 14:17Speaker 2: go back to the sheriff Rick Bradshaw, he was asked
- 14:20Speaker 2: a question about this perimeter and like, how the hell
- 14:23Speaker 2: can someone get so close? I actually don't blame him,
- 14:26Speaker 2: and I want to be clear about this. He's just
- 14:29Speaker 2: answering the question. Honestly. I really like the honesty and
- 14:31Speaker 2: what seemed like a total transparency from him, where he's like, look,
- 14:36Speaker 2: if you can get in the bushes, like you can
- 14:37Speaker 2: get in the bushes, you're hard to see. He's basically
- 14:40Speaker 2: saying like we got lucky today. And then he's asked
- 14:43Speaker 2: about the perimeter, like how can someone get so close?
- 14:47Speaker 2: Listen to what he said.
- 14:49Speaker 4: Well, you got to understand the golf course is surrounded
- 14:51Speaker 4: by shrubbery, so when somebody gets into the shrubbery, they're
- 14:54Speaker 4: pretty much out of sight, all right.
- 14:57Speaker 3: And at this level.
- 14:58Speaker 4: That he is at right now, well, he's not the
- 15:00Speaker 4: city president. If he was, we would have had this
- 15:03Speaker 4: higher golf course around him. Well, because he's not. The
- 15:06Speaker 4: security is limited to the areas that the Secret Service
- 15:09Speaker 4: deems possible. So I would imagine that the next time
- 15:14Speaker 4: becomes at a golf course, they'll probably be a little
- 15:16Speaker 4: bit more people around the perimeter. But the Secret Service
- 15:20Speaker 4: did exactly what they should have done. They provided exactly
- 15:23Speaker 4: what the protection should have been, and their agent did
- 15:26Speaker 4: a fantastic job.
- 15:28Speaker 2: I mean, he's being honest, like, hey, we're not giving
- 15:30Speaker 2: the guy what he needs because he's not the president.
- 15:34Speaker 2: He's not given complete perimeter protection. I'm just being honest
- 15:37Speaker 2: with you. The security is limited to the areas of
- 15:39Speaker 2: the Secret Service deemed possible. So that's the key word
- 15:42Speaker 2: that goes back to your point the sheriff saying, the
- 15:45Speaker 2: security quote is limited to the areas that the Secret
- 15:48Speaker 2: Service deems possible. So what they're saying is you can
- 15:52Speaker 2: get within three hundred yards, two hundred yards, four hundred
- 15:56Speaker 2: yards of the president at any given time as a sniper,
- 15:58Speaker 2: and we hope we see you before you shoot.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Look, that's just completely unacceptable, and we've seen now twice
- 16:07Speaker 3: in sixty four days, the risks that are attended to it.
- 16:12Speaker 3: The Secret Service in Butler Pennsylvania. There were massive failures.
- 16:16Speaker 3: But you know I'm not the only one pointing that out.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Last week, Senator Richard Blumenthal, who is Senator Bloomenthal is
- 16:26Speaker 3: the chairman of the Committee on Permanent on Permanent Investigations
- 16:34Speaker 3: of the Homeland Security Committee, and he held a press
- 16:39Speaker 3: conference in Washington, d C. On Bloomenthal Dick Bloomenthal is
- 16:43Speaker 3: a Democrat. But I want you to listen to just
- 16:48Speaker 3: how dismayed he was and how shocked he was about
- 16:54Speaker 3: how badly the Secret Service leadership failed with the Butler
- 16:58Speaker 3: Pennsylvania attempted assassination.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Now, before we play that for you, I want to
- 17:03Speaker 2: talk to you real quick about the last year in
- 17:05Speaker 2: my life. I am now down about seventy pounds. I
- 17:10Speaker 2: feel so much better than I did literally a year
- 17:14Speaker 2: and a couple weeks ago. And I got to give
- 17:17Speaker 2: credit to my friends over at Chalk because they have
- 17:21Speaker 2: had a huge impact on me losing the weight and
- 17:25Speaker 2: getting back in the gym and getting in shape for
- 17:28Speaker 2: my kids. Look, I can tell you that there is
- 17:31Speaker 2: nothing worse than feeling like you just have fatigue and
- 17:34Speaker 2: that you're tired, that you want to get off the couch,
- 17:36Speaker 2: you want to work out, but you just feel like
- 17:38Speaker 2: you've lost that edge. You are not alone. The problem

- 19:07Speaker 2: any subscription limited time offer. All right, take a listen
- 19:11Speaker 2: to Richard Blumenthal in his own words, and this was
- 19:15Speaker 2: again before the second assassination attempt.
- 19:19Speaker 5: I think the American people are going to be shocked, astonished,
- 19:23Speaker 5: and appalled by what we will report to them about
- 19:26Speaker 5: the failures by the Secret Service in this assassination attempt
- 19:31Speaker 5: on the former president. But I think they also ought
- 19:35Speaker 5: to be appalled and astonished by the failure of the
- 19:40Speaker 5: Department of Homelands and Security to be more forthcoming, to
- 19:43Speaker 5: be as candid and frank as it should be to
- 19:49Speaker 5: them in terms of providing information. And we are going
- 19:53Speaker 5: to absolutely insist on the truth and the whole truth
- 19:59Speaker 5: in documents and testimony as members of the United States Senate,
- 20:04Speaker 5: but also as citizens.
- 20:06Speaker 6: What did you learn new today when.
- 20:09Speaker 5: I'm not going to go into what we have learned
- 20:11Speaker 5: in specifics. I'm giving you my reaction, and we will
- 20:17Speaker 5: have a report very very soon that I think will
- 20:22Speaker 5: absolutely shock the American people, or it should, about the
- 20:26Speaker 5: lapses and lags in the protection that was afforded that
- 20:32Speaker 5: day and the breakdown in communication, failure and responsibility.
- 20:36Speaker 6: Is the coming today or tomorrow?
- 20:39Speaker 5: I'm sorry?
- 20:39Speaker 6: Is they have a report coming out tonight or tomorrow?
- 20:42Speaker 5: No?
- 20:43Speaker 7: Do you think?
- 20:44Speaker 3: I mean?
- 20:44Speaker 7: Is there a level of urgency to get this information
- 20:46Speaker 7: out as soon as possible because of the void that's
- 20:49Speaker 7: being filled with conspiracy theories about what happened on that day?
- 20:53Speaker 5: That is a really critical question. The failure of the
- 20:57Speaker 5: Apartment of Homeland Security to be more forthcoming fuels the
- 21:01Speaker 5: conspiracy theories that have no basis in fact. If government
- 21:06Speaker 5: officials fail to be factual and forthcoming, the Petri dish
- 21:12Speaker 5: for the virus of untruth and conspiracy theories is made
- 21:18Speaker 5: all the richer. We have an urgency, we have an
- 21:21Speaker 5: imperative to get the facts and make them public, all
- 21:26Speaker 5: of them, as soon as possible. I cannot say more
- 21:29Speaker 5: passionately how urgent I feel this mission is because the
- 21:35Speaker 5: American people need and deserve to know the truth, even
- 21:39Speaker 5: if it's embarrassing, because the way to avoid these kinds
- 21:42Speaker 5: of catastrophes in the future is to have the truth
- 21:48Speaker 5: made known to American So then, and do you feel.
- 21:50Speaker 7: The Secret Service has made the necessary adjustments immediately given
- 21:54Speaker 7: the fact that we are at the height of a
- 21:56Speaker 7: presidential campaign with so many different protectores under their charge.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Let me just say this to everybody listening. Listen carefully
- 22:03Speaker 2: to what he says in response to that answer, because
- 22:07Speaker 2: and I want people to just really focus on this,
- 22:09Speaker 2: because clearly he has been sold at Billa Goods.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Listen.
- 22:14Speaker 5: I am satisfied that the Secret Service had made improvements
- 22:19Speaker 5: that provide much stronger safeguards, and that it is knowledgeable
- 22:23Speaker 5: about the lapses that occurred, the failures that contributed to
- 22:28Speaker 5: this assassination attempt being as close as successful as it was.
- 22:33Speaker 5: I think the procedures, the protocols, and the practices have
- 22:37Speaker 5: been improved. We'll see whether we're completely satisfied with him,
- 22:41Speaker 5: because we're only beginning to learn about how the Secret
- 22:45Speaker 5: Service is doing things differently.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Senator spoiler alert were not completely satisfied with them.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Senator, I can't believe I'm going to sit here and
- 22:55Speaker 2: say this, But I actually think Blimenthal may have just
- 22:58Speaker 2: been sold to Bill of Goods and he was lied
- 22:59Speaker 2: to about a secret service. He thinks change, things have
- 23:02Speaker 2: changed and they're adequate now, but now after the second
- 23:04Speaker 2: assassination attempt, clearly they're they're not. And and did the
- 23:08Speaker 2: Secret Service just straight apply to him?
- 23:12Speaker 3: Well, I don't know. I don't know what is what
- 23:15Speaker 3: Blumenthal's investigation uncovered. He said there's a report coming out.
- 23:18Speaker 3: I hope it comes out now, very very soon. I
- 23:21Speaker 3: agree with what he said about the urgency of getting
- 23:24Speaker 3: information out. Look, it is my view that one of
- 23:28Speaker 3: the major drivers in these lapses is is partisan bias.
- 23:32Speaker 3: Is the fact that that the Biden, Harris white House,
- 23:37Speaker 3: and Alejandro majorcis they they don't like Trump. They don't
- 23:41Speaker 3: want to give him the recognition of of having the
- 23:47Speaker 3: security that that that that he needs. These these are
- 23:50Speaker 3: the same people that repeated and refused to provide any
- 23:53Speaker 3: Secret Service protection to RFK Junior, despite the fact that
- 23:57Speaker 3: it was clearly merited there and and and so I
- 24:00Speaker 3: would be surprised if Blumenthal's report focuses on the partisan
- 24:05Speaker 3: bias of the political appointees I think that is a
- 24:08Speaker 3: major factor in leading them to make decisions that have
- 24:14Speaker 3: left President Trump woefully underprotected. But listen, all of these
- 24:19Speaker 3: questions were clear two months ago, and I want to
- 24:23Speaker 3: because it feels a little bit like Groundhog Day. You
- 24:25Speaker 3: and I did this on another Sunday night with another
- 24:27Speaker 3: assassination attempt, and just following that, the acting Director of
- 24:34Speaker 3: the Secret Service testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee, and
- 24:38Speaker 3: I questioned him, and you know what striking is is
- 24:42Speaker 3: just about every single question I asked him two months
- 24:44Speaker 3: ago remains entirely salient today and even more so now
- 24:51Speaker 3: that this has happened twice. So I want to go
- 24:54Speaker 3: back and let's listen again to that cross examination. This
- 24:58Speaker 3: is the acting director of the Secret Service, shortly after
- 25:02Speaker 3: the first assassination attempt on President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.
- 25:07Speaker 3: Mister Row, thank you for being here. I agree with
- 25:10Speaker 3: what you said at the outset that the individual Secret
- 25:12Speaker 3: Service agents demonstrated remarkable personal courage putting their bodies in
- 25:17Speaker 3: between the line of sight of the shooter and the president.
- 25:20Speaker 3: That being said, the bravery of the line agents is
- 25:22Speaker 3: quite different from the decisions of Secret Service leadership. Secret
- 25:26Speaker 3: Service leadership committed catastrophic security failures, indeed the worst security
- 25:32Speaker 3: failures for the Secret Service since nineteen eighty one, since
- 25:36Speaker 3: the attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan. It is incumbent
- 25:44Speaker 3: upon this committee to determine why those security failures happened.
- 25:50Speaker 3: Just after the shooting, Secret Service put out an official
- 25:54Speaker 3: statement from your spokesperson that says, there's an untrue assertion
- 25:57Speaker 3: that a member of the former president's team us at
- 26:00Speaker 3: additional security resources, that those were rebuffed. This is absolutely false.
- 26:05Speaker 3: In fact, we added protective resources and technology and capabilities
- 26:08Speaker 3: as part of the increased campaign travel tempo.
- 26:11Speaker 6: Was this tweet accurate with respect to Butler, Pennsylvania? It
- 26:16Speaker 6: is accurate, sir.
- 26:18Speaker 3: It is accurate that the Trump team had not asked
- 26:24Speaker 3: for additional security and had not been rebuffed.
- 26:27Speaker 6: If you're talking about Butler, Pennsylvania, all assets requested were approved.
- 26:31Speaker 6: If you're talking about the media reporting of assets requested,
- 26:37Speaker 6: there were times when assets were unavailable and not able
- 26:41Speaker 6: to be filled, and those gaps were staffed with state
- 26:45Speaker 6: and local law enforcement tactical assets.
- 26:47Speaker 3: So I'm reading from the Washington Post, July twentieth, twenty
- 26:51Speaker 3: twenty four, Secret Service said to a denied request for
- 26:53Speaker 3: more security at Trump events. The opening paragraph, top officials
- 26:57Speaker 3: of the US Secret Service repeatedly denied requests for additional
- 27:00Speaker 3: resources in personnel sought by Donald Trump's security detail in
- 27:03Speaker 3: the two years leading up to his attempted assassination, according
- 27:07Speaker 3: to four people familiar with the requests. Is that right
- 27:10Speaker 3: that repeatedly the Trump detail asked for more resources and
- 27:14Speaker 3: repeatedly Secret Service leadership turned that down.
- 27:17Speaker 6: That is not accurate. Senator assets are requested. There's a
- 27:22Speaker 6: process that has made.
- 27:24Speaker 3: How many requests did the Trump team or the Trump
- 27:27Speaker 3: detail ask for?
- 27:29Speaker 6: I can get you that number in a Q.
- 27:30Speaker 3: You don't know now, so I can speak to the ones.
- 27:33Speaker 6: That reported in the Washington Post and we can go
- 27:35Speaker 6: through them if you like.
- 27:36Speaker 3: But you don't know how how many requests there were.
- 27:39Speaker 6: In general, how many requests since twenty twenty one that
- 27:42Speaker 6: the former Trump detail has made a requests for asking You've.
- 27:45Speaker 3: Had two weeks you had a spokesperson put something out
- 27:47Speaker 3: that is false on its face. By the way, did
- 27:49Speaker 3: you approve this statement when it went out?
- 27:52Speaker 6: I don't know if I did or didn't say.
- 27:54Speaker 3: Has this spokesperson? Is he still employed to he still
- 27:56Speaker 3: have still so he lied on behalf of the Secret Service.
- 27:59Speaker 3: He's still has a job. Did your predecessor, the former director,
- 28:02Speaker 3: does she approve the statement? Senator?
- 28:05Speaker 6: Our comms team they send out statements, they do deconflict them,
- 28:10Speaker 6: and they put them out.
- 28:12Speaker 3: Did she approve this statement? I don't know if she
- 28:15Speaker 3: did or did not. And you don't know if you
- 28:17Speaker 3: did either.
- 28:18Speaker 6: I don't recall approving it, Senator.
- 28:21Speaker 3: Will you commit to provide this committee in writing every
- 28:25Speaker 3: written request for additional resources from the Trump campaign or
- 28:29Speaker 3: the Trump Detail and every response from Secret Service?
- 28:33Speaker 6: Senator, I will commit to providing responses and getting you
- 28:36Speaker 6: the information that you are seeking.
- 28:39Speaker 3: Me ask you something, and who makes the decision to
- 28:43Speaker 3: those requests? Did you make that decision?
- 28:46Speaker 6: Which requests are you talking about the ones that written
- 28:48Speaker 6: a lot in the post?
- 28:49Speaker 3: Yes?
- 28:49Speaker 6: The processor is that a detail will make a request
- 28:54Speaker 6: for either staffing technical assets. That is handled between the
- 28:59Speaker 6: field office and the d detail. It goes up to
- 29:01Speaker 6: a logistics office between Okay.
- 29:04Speaker 3: So there's a bureaucracy. Is there a decision maker? It's
- 29:06Speaker 3: not a bureaucracy, Sator, it's the person that's the decision
- 29:09Speaker 3: maker is there one.
- 29:11Speaker 6: Senator, it's a conversation. It's not just an absolute yet.
- 29:15Speaker 6: So let me tell you what I believe.
- 29:17Speaker 3: I believe that the Secret Service leadership made a political
- 29:20Speaker 3: decision to deny these requests, and I think the Biden
- 29:25Speaker 3: administration has been suffused with partisan politics. Did the same
- 29:29Speaker 3: person who denied the request for additional security to President
- 29:32Speaker 3: Trump also repeatedly deny the request for security to Robert F.
- 29:36Speaker 3: Kennedy Junior, whose father was murdered by an assassin and
- 29:39Speaker 3: whose uncle was murdered by an assassin. Did the same
- 29:42Speaker 3: person make that decision? Senator?
- 29:44Speaker 6: What I will tell you is that secret Service agents
- 29:47Speaker 6: are not political.
- 29:48Speaker 3: Okay, you're not answering my you know what leadership by
- 29:51Speaker 3: the president, leader kep appointed by the president is political.
- 29:55Speaker 3: I have a simple question, yes or no? Did the
- 29:58Speaker 3: same person deny the Trump requests that also denied the
- 30:02Speaker 3: RFK request. That's a yes or no question, Senator.
- 30:06Speaker 6: That is not a yes or no question.
- 30:08Speaker 3: One.
- 30:09Speaker 6: There was a process for a candidate nominee to receive protection?
- 30:12Speaker 3: Is there a by Cameron?
- 30:14Speaker 6: Does a bike style body artisan process that they.
- 30:18Speaker 3: By cameral bipartisan process? What can candidate not in Congress.
- 30:23Speaker 3: I don't have a cameral.
- 30:24Speaker 6: Mister Kennedy submitted a request that was referred over to
- 30:27Speaker 6: the Sea Pack.
- 30:28Speaker 3: Okay, you're refusing to answer the question. Let me ask
- 30:30Speaker 3: because the failures on that day were catastrophic. By the way,
- 30:34Speaker 3: is it true that on the day of the of
- 30:36Speaker 3: the Butler event that Secret Service transferred agent for President
- 30:39Speaker 3: Trump to the First.
- 30:40Speaker 6: Lady H No, sir, that's not true.
- 30:43Speaker 3: That's been widely reported. It's not true.
- 30:46Speaker 6: There was one airport agent that actually went on the
- 30:48Speaker 6: MAMPI request for the Trump detail. They handled the arrival
- 30:51Speaker 6: at the airport.
- 30:52Speaker 3: What is the relative what was the relative size of
- 30:55Speaker 3: the Trump detail compared to the detail that is assigned
- 30:57Speaker 3: to the president of.
- 30:58Speaker 1: The First Lady?
- 31:00Speaker 3: Senator?
- 31:01Speaker 6: The former president travels with a full shift just like
- 31:04Speaker 6: the president.
- 31:05Speaker 3: What's the red so the exact same size? Is that
- 31:07Speaker 3: your testimony that the President Trump had the same size
- 31:09Speaker 3: detail that President Biden has.
- 31:11Speaker 6: On the day of in Butler, the agent surrounding him.
- 31:14Speaker 6: It is the same number of agents surrounding the president today.
- 31:18Speaker 6: There is a difference between the sitting president who also not.
- 31:21Speaker 3: Only and you're using president in a way that is
- 31:23Speaker 3: not clear. Is it your testimony that in Butler, Pennsylvania,
- 31:28Speaker 3: Donald Trump had the same number of agents protecting him
- 31:31Speaker 3: that Joe Biden has at a comparable event.
- 31:35Speaker 6: I'm telling you the shift, the close protection shift surrounded. Yes,
- 31:38Speaker 6: or you asked me, Senator, and I'm trying to answer it.
- 31:41Speaker 3: You are not answering it. Is it the same number
- 31:43Speaker 3: of agents or not?
- 31:45Speaker 6: Senator, there is a difference between the sitting president of
- 31:48Speaker 6: the United States, and.
- 31:49Speaker 3: What's the difference?
- 31:50Speaker 6: The difference two x three x five national command authority
- 31:53Speaker 6: to launch a nuclear strike?
- 31:55Speaker 3: I'm not ever assets how many more? I will wait
- 31:58Speaker 3: the president. That's a former. Well, you were refusing to
- 32:01Speaker 3: add a number of secret servers. Stop interruption, Stop interrupting me,
- 32:06Speaker 3: go ahead, refusing to answer clear and direct questions. I
- 32:10Speaker 3: am asking the relative difference in the number of agents
- 32:14Speaker 3: between those assigned to Donald Trump and those assigned to
- 32:17Speaker 3: Joe Biden. I'm not asking why you assign more to
- 32:20Speaker 3: Joe Biden. I'm asking is the difference? Is it two X?
- 32:23Speaker 3: Is it three X? Is it five X? Is it
- 32:25Speaker 3: ten X? Senator?
- 32:27Speaker 6: I will get you that number so you can see
- 32:29Speaker 6: it with your own eyes.
- 32:31Speaker 1: It's sad Senator.
- 32:32Speaker 2: But this seems now more relevant than it was after
- 32:36Speaker 2: the first assassination attempt. The lack of answers, and by
- 32:40Speaker 2: the way, you asked these questions on seven point thirty,
- 32:44Speaker 2: if I'm not mistaken, so did you ever actually get
- 32:48Speaker 2: the answers to all the questions where he said I
- 32:50Speaker 2: will get that for you.
- 32:52Speaker 3: Nothing, nothing whatsoever. He provided absolutely nothing. I asked the
- 32:56Speaker 3: Secret Service in writing. They have not responded to my
- 32:58Speaker 3: questions in writing. Assume they'll do it sometime within the
- 33:01Speaker 3: next century. But what he said in that hearing, I
- 33:04Speaker 3: will get that information to you. We are sitting here
- 33:09Speaker 3: in mid September and he has still not gotten it.
- 33:12Speaker 3: And it is a sense of a complete lack of accountability. Now,
- 33:18Speaker 3: look what they're doing right now is a massive cya.
- 33:21Speaker 3: They're trying to cover their own rear ends. But the
- 33:24Speaker 3: problem is with the senior decision making, and I believe
- 33:29Speaker 3: the partisan politics that has been infused into the senior
- 33:33Speaker 3: decision making. That is why I want to reiterate my
- 33:37Speaker 3: call today the Biden Harris administration should announce that they
- 33:44Speaker 3: are assigning a full presidential Secret Service detail to Donald J.
- 33:50Speaker 1: Trump.
- 33:51Speaker 3: And and by the way, let me be clear on a
- 33:54Speaker 3: little a sleight of hand that the acting director tried
- 33:59Speaker 3: to try to pull in that hearing. When I asked,
- 34:02Speaker 3: are the same number of agents assigned or what was
- 34:06Speaker 3: the relative number of agents? He said, oh, the same
- 34:09Speaker 3: number of agents are in the close protective shift, And
- 34:12Speaker 3: he was trying to be really clever there. I think
- 34:14Speaker 3: he thought he was clever. So the close protective shift
- 34:17Speaker 3: are the agents that are assigned immediately on the body
- 34:20Speaker 3: of the protect tee. So I assume he was accurate
- 34:24Speaker 3: that both Biden and Trump the immediate circle around him
- 34:30Speaker 3: is the same number of agents. What is different is
- 34:32Speaker 3: the way the Secret Service works is in concentric circles
- 34:37Speaker 3: perimeters of protection.
- 34:38Speaker 1: So there's a close detail of a.
- 34:40Speaker 3: Number of agents around the protect tee, but then with
- 34:43Speaker 3: a full presidential protection, there's an intermediate perimeter that they
- 34:48Speaker 3: locked down and there's a broader perimeter. The broader perimeter
- 34:51Speaker 3: presumably would have caught this sniper on the golf course
- 34:55Speaker 3: who was trying to assassinate President Trump. And so the
- 35:00Speaker 3: the acting director was trying to be cute by saying, well,
- 35:03Speaker 3: the immediate shift, the close protective details identical, and look,
- 35:11Speaker 3: everyone understands right now that there are markedly fewer Secret
- 35:16Speaker 3: Service agents protecting Donald Trump than are protecting Joe Biden,
- 35:20Speaker 3: which is amazing because his best I can tell all
- 35:22Speaker 3: Joe Biden does is sleep on the beach in Delaware.
- 35:26Speaker 3: But nonetheless we still don't know. And you know, Ben,
- 35:31Speaker 3: there was a reason I did not ask at that hearing.
- 35:36Speaker 3: I didn't ask the acting director how many agents were
- 35:38Speaker 3: assigned to Trump, and the reason I didn't ask that
- 35:41Speaker 3: and I didn't ask how many are assigned to Biden.
- 35:43Speaker 3: And the reason I didn't is he would have reasonably
- 35:46Speaker 3: declined to answer that that that giving that information could
- 35:51Speaker 3: compromise the security that protect Tee. So I can tell
- 35:55Speaker 3: you in my written questions, I have asked that specific question,
- 35:58Speaker 3: how many agents? Give you the number? And I said
- 36:01Speaker 3: that answer can be given as law enforcement confidential, so
- 36:05Speaker 3: that it will not be made public because that shouldn't
- 36:08Speaker 3: be made public. There's there's some details about security that
- 36:11Speaker 3: should not be in the public domain. That's why I
- 36:15Speaker 3: asked the question. I did give me the relative order
- 36:18Speaker 3: of magnitude. Is it twice as many?
- 36:21Speaker 1: Is it three X?
- 36:21Speaker 3: Is it five X? Is it ten X? And he
- 36:25Speaker 3: adamantly refused to answer that question, and to this day,
- 36:29Speaker 3: he has not answered that question sooner.
- 36:32Speaker 2: Finally, I want to just talk about the media coverage
- 36:34Speaker 2: of this second assassination attempt, and I can't even believe
- 36:37Speaker 2: that it's gotten to this point. And in fact, let's
- 36:39Speaker 2: just look over the last like three days. This morning
- 36:44Speaker 2: on Jensaki Show on MSNBC, you had a congresswoman that said, quote,
- 36:49Speaker 2: Trump is the guy that stokes domestic terrorism. The problem
- 36:53Speaker 2: isn't that people coming in but this guy. You then
- 36:58Speaker 2: add MSNBC's Alex Argue quote, the Trump campaign needs to
- 37:03Speaker 2: turn down the rhetoric now that Donald Trump has been
- 37:06Speaker 2: shot at for the second time in three months, blaming
- 37:10Speaker 2: Donald Trump for this. There's another example, and that's not
- 37:15Speaker 2: enough for you. You also had people on TV referring
- 37:18Speaker 2: to Donald Trump and implying that he was, you know,
- 37:21Speaker 2: basically kind of like Hitler. And so this MSNBC guest said, quote,
- 37:26Speaker 2: Donald Trump is exactly like Hitler. Just let's just quote
- 37:29Speaker 2: it like it's supposed to be quoted. This is the
- 37:32Speaker 2: rhetoric that's on TV right now. And they even say today, well,
- 37:35Speaker 2: maybe Donald Trump needs to stop playing golf outside for
- 37:38Speaker 2: a while, somehow implying what's his fault, He's exposing himself
- 37:41Speaker 2: to assassins.
- 37:44Speaker 3: Well, we are, unfortunately in a horribly divided time. But
- 37:48Speaker 3: I do think that that personal rhetoric, the demonization of
- 37:54Speaker 3: the left, but by the left of Donald Trump, has
- 37:58Speaker 3: reached a level that we'd never seen before. And I
- 38:01Speaker 3: think that kind of vicious rhetoric it it it bears fruit.
- 38:06Speaker 3: People listen to the rhetoric when they hear people people
- 38:10Speaker 3: describe him as another Hitler. Unfortunately, it increases the chances
- 38:16Speaker 3: that some lunatic is going to act on that. And
- 38:19Speaker 3: and and listen. I want to close this this podcast
- 38:24Speaker 3: the way we opened by by by giving thanks to God,
- 38:27Speaker 3: giving thanks that that God protected Donald Trump. Uh. I
- 38:33Speaker 3: talked with you at in Milwaukee and at the at
- 38:36Speaker 3: the Republican convention. How I visited with Trump right right
- 38:39Speaker 3: after the shooting and Butler, Yeah, and and and he
- 38:44Speaker 3: said to me there very quietly and in he just said,
- 38:48Speaker 3: God saved me for a reason. And there was there
- 38:53Speaker 3: was a quiet introspection about it that I would say
- 38:59Speaker 3: is not typical of how President Trump behaves. And I
- 39:04Speaker 3: think for the second time in just over two months,
- 39:07Speaker 3: President Trump has been protected. I am grateful for that protection.
- 39:11Speaker 3: I'm grateful for him, but I'm also grateful for the country. UH.
- 39:15Speaker 3: To to have a presidential election decided by an assassin,
- 39:21Speaker 3: decided by murder, is is the ultimate affront to democracy.
- 39:26Speaker 3: It is and it is an attack at the very
