- 2:02Speaker 1: doing research for the right ingredients for his beard in
- 2:05Speaker 1: twenty sixteen, I don't have a beard like him. He
- 2:07Speaker 1: got a beard, you know. I'm just happy to what
- 2:10Speaker 1: I got. Jay Arrington began to share his findings and
- 2:14Speaker 1: use his family and friends as human testers. He then
- 2:17Speaker 1: went on to receive his bachelor's degree in Wellness, Recreation
- 2:20Speaker 1: and Sports and twenty seventeen, his passion for the art
- 2:22Speaker 1: of human body left him with a burning desire to
- 2:25Speaker 1: help individuals accomplish their personal best by living a healthy
- 2:29Speaker 1: lifestyle through fitness and wellness. From that desire gave birth
- 2:32Speaker 1: to Rugged Evolution, a beer Carolina products that he makes
- 2:35Speaker 1: available to other men of distinction. He's a good friend
- 2:38Speaker 1: of mine, a young friend of mine, and I've been,
- 2:41Speaker 1: like to believe, I've been mentoring and and helping him
- 2:42Speaker 1: along the way. Please welcome to money making Conversation The
- 2:45Speaker 1: CEO and founder of Rugged Evolution, Jay Arrington Gavin, Hey don, sir,
- 2:50Speaker 1: I'm doing my friend. How are you being well? First
- 2:53Speaker 1: of all you you're smiling man, And uh, it's been
- 2:56Speaker 1: a fun journey. I first of all, house your mom.
- 2:58Speaker 1: I gotta I gotta say how the mom. Okay, my
- 3:00Speaker 1: mom is doing awesome, she's doing everyone's doing great, healthy vaccinator,
- 3:05Speaker 1: everybody's doing growing all right. I know that's that's really key.
- 3:07Speaker 1: And Uh in the business, did your end is dealing
- 3:10Speaker 1: with look is dealing with facials, dealing with people are
- 3:13Speaker 1: in close quarters? Sometimes? Talk about your business during the
- 3:16Speaker 1: COVID and did you have to make any adjustments during
- 3:19Speaker 1: the pandemic when the country shut down? Did it impact
- 3:22Speaker 1: you positively did you do a P P P. We'll
- 3:25Speaker 1: talk about the whole process in Well, we were very fortunate. Um,
- 3:31Speaker 1: for one, where are an e commerce site, but we
- 3:34Speaker 1: are located in our products are sold in uh selective
- 3:38Speaker 1: brick and mortar stores in Hampton Roads, Virginia. But actually
- 3:41Speaker 1: during the during that time, I was moving into a
- 3:44Speaker 1: much larger office space in March of so when when
- 3:48Speaker 1: the whole shutdown was going, I was moving on up
- 3:50Speaker 1: to a much bigger office and warehouse space. Uh, you know,
- 3:54Speaker 1: continue to grow and grow. Sales were still you know,
- 3:57Speaker 1: still steady. But we're very fortunate. UM uh yeah, we were.
- 4:01Speaker 1: We were very blessed really doing during COVID, But it
- 4:04Speaker 1: was still an adjustment because you had to get creative.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I think whenever a new obstacle comes upon comes my way,
- 4:12Speaker 1: it helps me grow as a business owner and as
- 4:14Speaker 1: an entrepreneur. So with that being said, we we got
- 4:17Speaker 1: more creative with things. UM did stuff a lot more virtual.
- 4:20Speaker 1: We did a lot of Facebook Live during the during COVID,
- 4:24Speaker 1: just to continue to stay relevant to people that do
- 4:26Speaker 1: follow us, almost kind of like a que theme style
- 4:29Speaker 1: of Facebook Live. So we were doing very good and
- 4:32Speaker 1: adjusting and getting really creative during during the COVID Well,
- 4:36Speaker 1: I would tell you now and this two we talked
- 4:38Speaker 1: about a long time ago about you being the face
- 4:40Speaker 1: of your brain and at the time, you know a
- 4:43Speaker 1: little little bit the confidence for them there, you know.
- 4:46Speaker 1: I mean one time we did an interview and you said,
- 4:48Speaker 1: you know so many times and hold on, hold on,
- 4:50Speaker 1: hold on, hold on, Yeahvin, Look, we want to do
- 4:52Speaker 1: this interview again. I'm not putting you out there like that,
- 4:55Speaker 1: young man. And you understood what I was talking about
- 4:57Speaker 1: because I had your best interests and you did again
- 5:00Speaker 1: and look at you now you got a podcast. I
- 5:02Speaker 1: won't get you farther in the interview. I can see
- 5:04Speaker 1: the confidence and how you're talking in articulation. Talk about
- 5:07Speaker 1: that growth, man, and then also talk about the responsibility
- 5:11Speaker 1: of becoming the face of your brand and being able
- 5:13Speaker 1: to articulate the value of your brand from your personal
- 5:17Speaker 1: point of view. Well, you said the the very first
- 5:21Speaker 1: interview that I had with you, Ms McDonald, I was nervous.
- 5:25Speaker 1: You can hear you can hear the nerves. Like you said, Um,
- 5:28Speaker 1: I definitely took all your advice to hard learn grow
- 5:31Speaker 1: more of the vending shows that I attended. I looked
- 5:34Speaker 1: at that as a form of you know, working on
- 5:35Speaker 1: my speaking, talking in public with people promoting my brand.
- 5:39Speaker 1: That confidence booster. I mean it was everything was growth,
- 5:43Speaker 1: whether it was especially being the face of my business
- 5:47Speaker 1: and of my brand. Um, if I don't show that confidence,
- 5:50Speaker 1: Nobody's gonna believe in my brand. So I had to
- 5:53Speaker 1: build up that confidence and had to uh definitely continue
- 5:56Speaker 1: to educate myself. I educate myself every day with my products,
- 5:59Speaker 1: the type of gredients I put in my products. Uh,
- 6:02Speaker 1: you know, new things, old things, making sure I'm not
- 6:05Speaker 1: behind but ahead of the game at all at all times.
- 6:08Speaker 1: And um, that's really how I continue to grow and
- 6:11Speaker 1: grow every day. And this is I always think of
- 6:15Speaker 1: the first the first time I was on the show,
- 6:17Speaker 1: and it's it's it's it's always always a lat myself.
- 6:21Speaker 1: So well, there's just by growth. You know, it's about
- 6:23Speaker 1: being able to be honest. And that's what I've done
- 6:25Speaker 1: all my life. You know, I always are like mentored
- 6:28Speaker 1: and uplift and made sure that people understand their skill.
- 6:31Speaker 1: You you didn't saw you didn't see what I saw
- 6:33Speaker 1: you at the time. You know, you were you were
- 6:35Speaker 1: a guy who it was the CEO of a company.
- 6:38Speaker 1: He was very young when you started it. You know,
- 6:40Speaker 1: you've been wearing you've been having a full beer since
- 6:42Speaker 1: you were fourteen years old, and then so all these
- 6:45Speaker 1: things God put you in a position. Then you had
- 6:48Speaker 1: to understand how you can create value from that, you
- 6:51Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So, but but what I've know
- 6:53Speaker 1: just the most is before we even get into the products,
- 6:55Speaker 1: and I'm just gonna do the word evolution, is how
- 6:59Speaker 1: beards have taken on a life of their own, kind
- 7:02Speaker 1: of like what Michael Jordan did with the ball hair
- 7:05Speaker 1: ball head when he shaved his head playing basketball. Talk
- 7:09Speaker 1: about that. Then, you know, you have a lot of
- 7:10Speaker 1: famous people in the NBA who have really marketed their
- 7:13Speaker 1: beards and things like that. So but outside of them,
- 7:16Speaker 1: just the it's cool to wear a beard. It always
- 7:20Speaker 1: was kind of cool, but it feeds like it's really
- 7:23Speaker 1: come out to the forefront. And that's why our brand,
- 7:25Speaker 1: like yours, is starting to benefit because you're providing beer
- 7:28Speaker 1: care beard care products. Yeah. So I always love to say,
- 7:34Speaker 1: you know, in previous years, beards were always, like you said,
- 7:37Speaker 1: was always cool, but it was still a form of
- 7:39Speaker 1: like you know, if you have this interview, be sure
- 7:41Speaker 1: to shave that off. If you have this job, be
- 7:44Speaker 1: sure to save this all. So I've always wanted to
- 7:46Speaker 1: promote that whether you were work in corporate America or
- 7:49Speaker 1: whether you are a label worker, you can still be
- 7:50Speaker 1: a man of distinction while rocking a well groomed beard. Um,
- 7:54Speaker 1: it's not a it's not a trend now, it is
- 7:56Speaker 1: a movement. Um. You see men of higher power, you
- 7:59Speaker 1: see men at you know, uh, mid level jobs, or
- 8:03Speaker 1: even all all jobs. They're rocking facial hair, beers, mustache,
- 8:06Speaker 1: go tee. It's nothing wrong with it. So Um, as
- 8:09Speaker 1: far as the evolution of growing, it is starting to
- 8:12Speaker 1: grow and show that you can still be a man distinction,
- 8:15Speaker 1: have that confidence while rocking a well grown beer. Well,
- 8:19Speaker 1: like I said, now that they're there are different layers
- 8:21Speaker 1: of beer. You have to go tee talk about you know,
- 8:25Speaker 1: we say beard beard care products, but you have gotees,
- 8:28Speaker 1: you have mustache. All your products can work in that
- 8:32Speaker 1: in that care Caroline, because you should take care of
- 8:34Speaker 1: your must dad. You should take care of all this stuff.
- 8:36Speaker 1: So let's not just say if you don't have if
- 8:39Speaker 1: you just have a beard, you you then that's what
- 8:41Speaker 1: your product. For your product is for any facial hair correct, Yes, sir,
- 8:46Speaker 1: it is for all facial hair types. Are product. At
- 8:48Speaker 1: the end of the day, our facial hair fellows are
- 8:52Speaker 1: the magnets of bacteria and Greece. Whether you have a
- 8:54Speaker 1: thin shadow, whether you have just a mustache, whether you
- 8:57Speaker 1: have the Van Dyke, the gote, the beard is still
- 9:01Speaker 1: the magnitud bacteria in grease and if you don't take
- 9:03Speaker 1: care of that. Right now, we're in a warmer climate,
- 9:06Speaker 1: so when we sweat a lot, all that sweat, it
- 9:08Speaker 1: builds up to that facial hair and it starts and
- 9:10Speaker 1: then you start having an older the issue irritation on
- 9:13Speaker 1: the skin bacteria. So you don't want this. So you
- 9:16Speaker 1: always need to have a great product with with you
- 9:19Speaker 1: in order to maintain that because at the end of
- 9:22Speaker 1: the day, I always say you got to take care
- 9:24Speaker 1: of your body internally as well as externally. It's finally
- 9:27Speaker 1: here the season of celebration, and no matter how you
- 9:30Speaker 1: celebrate with family and friends, whether you're preparing for reys
- 9:34Speaker 1: magos or karamu lighting the manura, are going to midnight
- 9:38Speaker 1: mass coals has just what you need to make those
- 9:40Speaker 1: traditions special. Plus you'll find gifts for all your loved ones.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Send warm wishes with cozy fleeces, sweaters, loungeware, blankets and throws.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Support minority owned or founded brands by giving gifts from
- 9:53Speaker 1: Human Nation and shame moisture, or treat them to everyone's
- 9:57Speaker 1: favorite active wear from top brands like Nike, Adidas, and
- 10:01Speaker 1: under Armour. And in the spirit of giving, Coals Cares
- 10:04Speaker 1: is donating eight million dollars to local nonprofits nationwide committed
- 10:08Speaker 1: to the health and well being of our communities. No
- 10:11Speaker 1: matter how you celebrate, when you shop at Coals, you're
- 10:15Speaker 1: right where you belong. So this season, give with all
- 10:18Speaker 1: your heart with great gifts from Coals or Coals dot com.
- 10:22Speaker 1: If I could be you and you could be me
- 10:24Speaker 1: for just one hour, if you could find a way
- 10:27Speaker 1: to get inside each other's mind, Walcome Mile in My Shoes,
- 10:31Speaker 1: wacome Mile in my Shoes Shoes. We've all felt left out,
- 10:37Speaker 1: and for some that feeling lasts more than a moment.
- 10:40Speaker 1: We can change that. Learn how it belonging begins with
- 10:43Speaker 1: us dot org. Brought to you by the Act Council.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Ocome Mile and machine. What grows in the forest trees
- 10:55Speaker 1: sure no what else grows in the forest, Our imagination,
- 10:59Speaker 1: a sense of that, and our family bonds grow too,
- 11:02Speaker 1: because when we disconnect from this and connect with this,
- 11:09Speaker 1: we reconnect with each other. The forest is closer than
- 11:12Speaker 1: you think. Find a forest near you and start exploring.
- 11:16Speaker 1: I discover the forest dot Org, brought to you by
- 11:18Speaker 1: the United States Forest Service and the AD Council. I'm
- 11:22Speaker 1: would change everybody. I I do use rugged evolution products. Uh.
- 11:27Speaker 1: He sent me that little round brush. I don't know
- 11:29Speaker 1: if you still because I got two of the little
- 11:31Speaker 1: round brush. That round and my wife would look at me,
- 11:34Speaker 1: she said, it really does you know? I would brush
- 11:37Speaker 1: my bridge. She said, it really does make a big difference.
- 11:40Speaker 1: And how I would of all my products? You not
- 11:43Speaker 1: got everything I got. I got the fark, I got
- 11:47Speaker 1: that a little small, but I get that little round
- 11:50Speaker 1: brush man, and it would make and I would. You
- 11:53Speaker 1: know a lot of people come to me try to
- 11:54Speaker 1: use their product, but nobody touches that brush man. We're
- 11:58Speaker 1: gonna talk about other products. I want to let you
- 12:00Speaker 1: know that brush that that that travels with me. I
- 12:04Speaker 1: got up aught another one. I keep one at the office,
- 12:06Speaker 1: I keep one at home. I keep one in my
- 12:07Speaker 1: travel back, I got three of them. Well that's goal
- 12:11Speaker 1: because see that brush, when you brush twice a day,
- 12:13Speaker 1: what that does that sell me? Looks the hair folical,
- 12:15Speaker 1: so you always wanna brush twice a day. Helps open
- 12:18Speaker 1: up those hair follicles. So that's a really great thing.
- 12:20Speaker 1: While you contine to maintaining why your wife so you said,
- 12:22Speaker 1: I see a difference by you know, I would do
- 12:25Speaker 1: it in the mirror right next tour and she goes,
- 12:27Speaker 1: if she could see this side, just laid my hair
- 12:31Speaker 1: down right and then you know, because your hair would
- 12:33Speaker 1: kind of like start separating, but it would bring it
- 12:35Speaker 1: all together, give me a fullness. I guess that's what.
- 12:38Speaker 1: It would give me a fullness to my beard no
- 12:41Speaker 1: matter what level. Now what I'm not trying to get
- 12:44Speaker 1: away into trade secrets. What made your brush one that
- 12:48Speaker 1: affected my beard versus other competition because that hair brush
- 12:52Speaker 1: is fantastic. Well, the key thing is the types of bristles.
- 12:57Speaker 1: I have one brush right here on the table that's
- 12:59Speaker 1: one of our album on brush. Those board bristles are
- 13:01Speaker 1: is what key. You never want anything too hard because
- 13:05Speaker 1: our skin is very sensitive, so you don't want to
- 13:06Speaker 1: have something you know scratching the skin at all. You
- 13:09Speaker 1: want to have a board burstle board bristles. It is
- 13:11Speaker 1: like almost in between. It's slightly hard but very soft.
- 13:15Speaker 1: So and it always stays consistent too, right. And then
- 13:18Speaker 1: and then I like to call a lot the little
- 13:20Speaker 1: eye dropper. You put the eye dropper putting on your
- 13:23Speaker 1: beard and make your beard shining. So I got a
- 13:25Speaker 1: little I can't never get your technical world, but I
- 13:27Speaker 1: know I pull that little I drop out man a
- 13:30Speaker 1: couple of my hand I feel like that putting up
- 13:32Speaker 1: my beer. If looking shot, I get that brush right
- 13:34Speaker 1: behind it. If I if I ain't looking good, I
- 13:37Speaker 1: think I'm looking good. Alright there, that's all I gotta say. Right,
- 13:40Speaker 1: that's right. What are you looking good? Miss down? You're
- 13:41Speaker 1: looking great. You're looking great. So so talk about some
- 13:44Speaker 1: of the products that you're having there, and then we're
- 13:46Speaker 1: also gonna go back to the backpacks. I want to
- 13:48Speaker 1: definitely talk about what you're doing up and happening brow
- 13:50Speaker 1: because I got such a really good restaurant. The reaction
- 13:53Speaker 1: when I posted about it last year on my social media,
- 13:56Speaker 1: you know, you contacted me, You say, could I posted?
- 13:58Speaker 1: You know, I'll do anything for you and also going
- 14:01Speaker 1: to make a donation to you this year as wells
- 14:04Speaker 1: just making a difference. But let's talk about the product.
- 14:07Speaker 1: You know, he has some product in front of you.
- 14:08Speaker 1: If you're watching this on video, you can see it.
- 14:10Speaker 1: We're gonna be as as as uh as as creative
- 14:13Speaker 1: and descriptive as possible for people who are listening on
- 14:16Speaker 1: my podcast on my radio show. But tell us what
- 14:18Speaker 1: you got in front of us there. So I just
- 14:20Speaker 1: have a slight view of our products. So in total
- 14:23Speaker 1: of Regulolution Beercare, I started off actually with just four
- 14:26Speaker 1: cents of beard Bombs and beard Oil's and all natural
- 14:29Speaker 1: beer carelines. So now we now have sixteen cented beer
- 14:33Speaker 1: Bombs beard Oil. As you see right here, I have
- 14:35Speaker 1: my leaving I'm excuse me, our conditioning shampoo, who is
- 14:39Speaker 1: a beard watch that I recommend staying consistant, especially during
- 14:42Speaker 1: the summertime. And we just launched two new products. So
- 14:45Speaker 1: I have my leaving Beard moisturizer. It's a beard cream.
- 14:49Speaker 1: It's the scent of ginger. It is so good. It's
- 14:52Speaker 1: a very popular seller right now. We just launched that
- 14:55Speaker 1: about two months ago. And um it's mainly because again
- 15:00Speaker 1: for the for the summertime for this heat. I try
- 15:03Speaker 1: to adjust the routine when it comes to beard maintenance.
- 15:06Speaker 1: You don't want to apply too much a bomb, which
- 15:10Speaker 1: is still good because of great moisturize, but you don't
- 15:12Speaker 1: apply too much and have all that oil build up.
- 15:15Speaker 1: So have something that you know that's a non greasy,
- 15:18Speaker 1: uh substance onto that face. So this is our leading
- 15:20Speaker 1: beard moisturizer. And then we also have our our excuse me,
- 15:25Speaker 1: our smooth Stats are Smooth Stats. We just launched that
- 15:28Speaker 1: in March for Mustache Month, and it's a musta oil
- 15:32Speaker 1: serum right here. And what you do is just you
- 15:35Speaker 1: just apply this. You can do either five seconds to
- 15:38Speaker 1: ten seconds. You can go in small circles or right across.
- 15:41Speaker 1: We started it just for our mustache sporters. But as
- 15:44Speaker 1: long as you have like a nice repeat what you
- 15:48Speaker 1: just said there, Gavin, what was that you just had?
- 15:51Speaker 1: What was that down? This is this is the smooth
- 15:54Speaker 1: This is called Snooze Stats. Just a mustache serum. So
- 15:58Speaker 1: and it it comes in its dispense with this little
- 16:00Speaker 1: small robot and you can see that it's a small
- 16:02Speaker 1: robot at the time, and you just applied just like
- 16:05Speaker 1: that about five is ten seconds. You're all good to go,
- 16:07Speaker 1: and it actually comes in a black velvet bat with
- 16:10Speaker 1: our new rugged alution mustache comb. So right after you
- 16:14Speaker 1: finish that, you can apply that comb right there. You're
- 16:17Speaker 1: all good to go and you can bring it with
- 16:18Speaker 1: you and um at all time. It's very easy to travel.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Oh you got you gotta slick on me? I would
- 16:24Speaker 1: you know because sometimes listening to go, what do you
- 16:27Speaker 1: because it wasn't ball because it's got balled. It's a mustache.
- 16:31Speaker 1: I gotta I gotta get that. I gotta get that now.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Now I got the little the little can the canisters
- 16:37Speaker 1: were you know you open and then you put on
- 16:39Speaker 1: your face as well. Yes, yes, the beer bob talking
- 16:41Speaker 1: about so our beard bomb. Our beer bomb is mainly
- 16:46Speaker 1: for men with two inches or more for guys with length,
- 16:50Speaker 1: and it's used as a d tangler still as a
- 16:52Speaker 1: great moisturizer. But we have a sixteen cents cents of
- 16:55Speaker 1: the beard bombs. I always will say, like the thing
- 16:59Speaker 1: of the beer bombs like a dressing. So the beard
- 17:01Speaker 1: oil is made to treat the skin first, so you
- 17:03Speaker 1: always want to continue to use the beard oil because
- 17:05Speaker 1: you've gotta make sure that skin is taking care of
- 17:07Speaker 1: underneath the hair in order to help enhance and benefit
- 17:10Speaker 1: your your beard. So you apply the beard oil first,
- 17:13Speaker 1: and while you do that, get right there and good
- 17:15Speaker 1: in those roots to tip. Then you apply a little
- 17:18Speaker 1: bit of beard bomb, which I use everyday, beard oil
- 17:21Speaker 1: and beer bomb and uh. And then you you apply
- 17:24Speaker 1: one of our our accessories, one of our beard wooden combs,
- 17:28Speaker 1: and you're all good to go, looking great and smooth.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Well you look well, thank you because you're you're you're
- 17:33Speaker 1: You're the reason I look great to smooth if I'm
- 17:35Speaker 1: looking great school because of Gavi. Let's just let y'all
- 17:37Speaker 1: know what now, Gavin, here's a deal man. Now talk
- 17:41Speaker 1: to me. Now, you gotta podcast now. And you know
- 17:44Speaker 1: I ain't been on the podcast. I ain't mad now.
- 17:46Speaker 1: I ain't mad, y'all. I'm not not yet. Not. Yeah,
- 17:51Speaker 1: you all say great things, but roushan with the beard,
- 17:53Speaker 1: the old guy, you try to get that young demo.
- 17:56Speaker 1: I know what he's trying to do. They ain't gonna
- 17:57Speaker 1: bring the old guy on that right away. He's trying
- 18:00Speaker 1: get that young demo. Do you think I'm an a
- 18:02Speaker 1: RPS old podcast? I'll tell your mom I'm gonna call
- 18:10Speaker 1: your mama. I said, yeah, we were been crocus. I
- 18:14Speaker 1: came up to Hamptons and can't he put me on
- 18:16Speaker 1: his podcast? But he's going into year too. I still
- 18:19Speaker 1: ain't got a phone call. That's all right. I love
- 18:21Speaker 1: him though, I love I love that's too funny. Yeah,
- 18:27Speaker 1: so we're so yeah. Our Our Smooth Club podcast. It's
- 18:31Speaker 1: a new podcast that um we started, uh mainly during
- 18:34Speaker 1: the during the shutdown, and it was something that it's
- 18:37Speaker 1: it's funny, so ms McDonald. When I started to attend universities, UH,
- 18:41Speaker 1: they always asked, you know, what do you want a
- 18:43Speaker 1: major and what do you want to pursue a dream
- 18:44Speaker 1: of mine. I've always wanted to be on radio, whether
- 18:47Speaker 1: it was on a radio talk show or from when.
- 18:50Speaker 1: I have a passion for dialogue. I love having a
- 18:52Speaker 1: conversation with people. I highly think that, you know, conversation
- 18:56Speaker 1: is something that can take care of all the world's
- 18:58Speaker 1: problems by sitting down, you know, talking with talking amongst
- 19:02Speaker 1: each other. So um, the podcast is called Our Smooth
- 19:05Speaker 1: Club and it's a show where everyday men discussed everyday topics. UM.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Through my journey and growing my business, I met some
- 19:11Speaker 1: great people who become great friends of mine. UM. This
- 19:14Speaker 1: show is myself along with three of my friends who
- 19:17Speaker 1: are also business owners. Young business owners were probably no
- 19:21Speaker 1: more than like five years with our brands, and the
- 19:24Speaker 1: age group ranges from twenty six to like sixty five.
- 19:27Speaker 1: One of our co hosts UM he is an international
- 19:30Speaker 1: fashion designer. He has his own custom suit collection for
- 19:33Speaker 1: men and women. UM. Another gentleman has uh owns a
- 19:36Speaker 1: travel agency. And then another gentleman who's sixty five, he
- 19:39Speaker 1: has a uh habidastry store, one of a very historic
- 19:44Speaker 1: store in uh Northfork, Virginia. And UM, we just talked
- 19:48Speaker 1: about everyday topics, whether it's related to relationship, business, um, uh,
- 19:53Speaker 1: the culture, politics, social issues, I mean with sports. We
- 19:57Speaker 1: talked about it all and it's been a lot of fun. UM.
- 20:00Speaker 1: We're right now in season season two and we're available
- 20:03Speaker 1: on our my YouTube channel, Rugged Evil TV, also on
- 20:08Speaker 1: all you can listen to it on all major podcast
- 20:09Speaker 1: platform Spotify, Google, Apple, UH, Stitcher. UM will continue to
- 20:16Speaker 1: grow that platform and UM, and it's it's great. We
- 20:19Speaker 1: just started incorporating guests for season two. So you know,
- 20:24Speaker 1: he's gonna he gonna throw, He's gonna throw me a bone, y'all,
- 20:26Speaker 1: he's gonna just throw me. We're starting incorporate cat. You know,
- 20:29Speaker 1: we're gonna we're gonna let your own Mr McDonald's gonna
- 20:32Speaker 1: put your own do your thing. You know what I'm saying.
- 20:34Speaker 1: You know, look at your children's eyes to see the
- 20:37Speaker 1: true magic of a forest. It's a storybook world for them.
- 20:42Speaker 1: You look and see a tree. They see the wrinkled
- 20:45Speaker 1: face of a wizard with arms outstretched to the sky.
- 20:48Speaker 1: They see treasuring pebbles. They see a windy path that
- 20:52Speaker 1: could lead to adventure, and they see you. They're fearless. Guide.

- 21:06Speaker 1: And we're live here outside the Perez family home, just
- 21:09Speaker 1: waiting for the And there they go, almost on time.
- 21:12Speaker 1: This morning. Mom is coming out the front door, strong
- 21:15Speaker 1: with a double arm kid carry. Looks like dad has
- 21:18Speaker 1: the bags. Daughter is bringing up the rear. Oh, but
- 21:21Speaker 1: the diaper bag wasn't closed. Diapers and toys are everywhere.
- 21:27Speaker 1: But Mom has just nailed the perfect car seat buckle
- 21:30Speaker 1: for the toddler, and now the eldest daughter, who looks
- 21:33Speaker 1: to be about nine or ten, has secured herself in
- 21:36Speaker 1: the booster seat. Dad zips the bag clothes and they're off,
- 21:40Speaker 1: but looks like Mom doesn't realize her coffee cup is
- 21:43Speaker 1: still on the roof of the car, and there it goes. Oh,
- 21:47Speaker 1: that's a shame. That mug was a fan favorite. Don't
- 21:50Speaker 1: sweat the small stuff, just nailed the big stuff, like
- 21:53Speaker 1: making sure your kids are buckled correctly in the right

- 22:36Speaker 1: proud of you, man, because you know what what social
- 22:40Speaker 1: media and it's about controlling your destiny. And and if
- 22:44Speaker 1: you can't in this day and age, if you can't
- 22:47Speaker 1: step out there and say I want to do something
- 22:50Speaker 1: that I've always wanted to do. Look at your presentation
- 22:54Speaker 1: is fantastic. I look at the product. Now. When you
- 22:56Speaker 1: start developing new products, who do you work with? Are
- 23:00Speaker 1: you working with a chemists? Are you working with a company.
- 23:02Speaker 1: How do you go through the process of developing new products? Well,
- 23:06Speaker 1: I usually I do. I will have I have a
- 23:09Speaker 1: few contexts. One that's a dermatologist, one that's a tricollist
- 23:13Speaker 1: that works strictly with their I'm you know, I'm making
- 23:16Speaker 1: my products, so as far as the testers are concerned,
- 23:18Speaker 1: I will test on myself. I have a few other
- 23:20Speaker 1: different beer types. I'll have uh you know, different age groups,
- 23:24Speaker 1: white beards, uh, black, black beers, as far as the
- 23:28Speaker 1: complection of the facial hair. And that's how I usually tested.
- 23:33Speaker 1: And also, you know, I look around as far as
- 23:36Speaker 1: on the market and see, Okay, what are we missing
- 23:38Speaker 1: What is something that a lot of men asked for
- 23:41Speaker 1: when it comes to beer care what or when it
- 23:43Speaker 1: comes to something to help you take care of their beards.
- 23:45Speaker 1: So I put that on paper and then I'm like, Okay, look,
- 23:49Speaker 1: this is something I need to put down and I
- 23:50Speaker 1: need to uh, you know, start working on and uh.
- 23:54Speaker 1: And that's that's how I do it. That's how I
- 23:55Speaker 1: usually create, uh, the stuff that helps me when I'm
- 23:58Speaker 1: creating a new product. Well of the thing that that
- 24:00Speaker 1: the really part of over your life that I really
- 24:03Speaker 1: have always been impressed with is that you're just a
- 24:05Speaker 1: regular guy, you know, and you've taken a gift. You know,
- 24:09Speaker 1: some people might consider having a beer at fourteen a
- 24:11Speaker 1: curse and because you know you're gonna get teased and
- 24:14Speaker 1: sometimes bullied, you know about having facial hair and and
- 24:17Speaker 1: things like that. And then but you mature through that
- 24:20Speaker 1: through uh, you know, having having a family, keeping your
- 24:23Speaker 1: focus and also then you understand that's not that's not
- 24:26Speaker 1: something to be seen as a negative. And then the
- 24:29Speaker 1: whole process of evolving to a person who's giving back
- 24:32Speaker 1: to the community and something that out of all this
- 24:36Speaker 1: negative atmosphere that was going on with COVID. You decided
- 24:40Speaker 1: not to think about yourself. Last year, you decided to
- 24:42Speaker 1: think about others. What was the inspiration behind thinking about
- 24:46Speaker 1: others and why did it becoming become important to do
- 24:49Speaker 1: it again for the second year. Well, as you know,
- 24:52Speaker 1: we would, We are very for sure. We had our
- 24:55Speaker 1: our Regnvovlution Foundation back to School drive we had we
- 25:00Speaker 1: had it in nineteen. It was a huge success. We
- 25:02Speaker 1: had a goal of giving out two hundred and fifty
- 25:04Speaker 1: backpacks fill with school supplies. We end up exceeding that
- 25:06Speaker 1: goal to three hundred and like sixty three and still
- 25:09Speaker 1: had extra supplies to hand out to the community. Um,
- 25:12Speaker 1: but you know due to COVID last year, Uh, it
- 25:15Speaker 1: was you know how I used to work in the
- 25:17Speaker 1: in the healthcare field and our physical therapy, and it was,
- 25:21Speaker 1: you know, the first thing I knew was, you know,
- 25:22Speaker 1: no health matters. People matter. I'm a people person, I
- 25:25Speaker 1: love people, I'm a social butterfly. I'm always saying hey,
- 25:28Speaker 1: how are you doing, introducing myself things like that. So
- 25:30Speaker 1: the first thing it was like the health of uh
- 25:33Speaker 1: people and people and the people in my community as
- 25:35Speaker 1: well as young people as well. So that we decided
- 25:38Speaker 1: not to do that and especially due to the crowd size.
- 25:42Speaker 1: But we're fortunate to have our second annual this year. UM,
- 25:45Speaker 1: it will be happening let me see August twenty eight,
- 25:48Speaker 1: uh at a local arrect center in Chess Peak, Virginian
- 25:51Speaker 1: in Indian River Community Center. UM. We're actually having a
- 25:54Speaker 1: local radio station w NSB blazing Hot nine. You one
- 25:58Speaker 1: gonna be partnering with us for this event. Um, and
- 26:01Speaker 1: they're actually affiliate with the HBC. They' affiliate with the
- 26:03Speaker 1: Norfling State Universities already. Yeah, we see you component is
- 26:08Speaker 1: tied into the campaign, right, So that's what I thought,
- 26:13Speaker 1: yeph in. Our goal this year is to give out
- 26:15Speaker 1: five hundred backpacks deal with school supplies. We're gonna be
- 26:17Speaker 1: having free food, uh free Uh, let me see, free
- 26:20Speaker 1: free cash because give me free prizes and um, a
- 26:23Speaker 1: free ice cream truck giving out free ice cream. You
- 26:26Speaker 1: have a gentleman giving out popcorn, cotton candy, the slushies.
- 26:29Speaker 1: We have fire trucks, para medics. We're gonna have the
- 26:32Speaker 1: sheriff department doing identities for the kids. UM. A couple
- 26:35Speaker 1: of other local small organization organizations out coming out their music.
- 26:40Speaker 1: It's gonna be a lot of fun and open to
- 26:41Speaker 1: the community and also free haircuts too. Well. The thing
- 26:45Speaker 1: about it is that I got a couple of clients
- 26:47Speaker 1: I want to I want to get on your podcast,
- 26:49Speaker 1: you know that are really talented. You know, they look
- 26:51Speaker 1: younger than me, you know, but they're in the gospel
- 26:53Speaker 1: music air lane and uh, but they wear some they
- 26:56Speaker 1: have some facial hair and I think it looked good
- 26:58Speaker 1: on your shoulder when you so when you for it's
- 27:01Speaker 1: not even a boy me. You know, it's never about me.
- 27:03Speaker 1: It's about to extending your brain and growing your brand.
- 27:06Speaker 1: So to reach out to me, said Rachard. And who
- 27:08Speaker 1: you recommend? And Todd Delaney is one of the people
- 27:11Speaker 1: young gospel artists. Uh, I shouldn't say young, because he's successful,
- 27:14Speaker 1: you know, you win Instella's and awards and all that
- 27:17Speaker 1: good stuff. I think it would be really great to
- 27:19Speaker 1: have on your shot. And I think you're developed a
- 27:21Speaker 1: nice relationship and his brain and your brain. Getting together
- 27:24Speaker 1: and getting on his social media because he got a
- 27:26Speaker 1: nice path, will enhance what you're trying to do in here.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Drop that interview on top of his social media and
- 27:32Speaker 1: get the rugged out there to that market. That you
- 27:34Speaker 1: really want, man, because that's that that market between twenty
- 27:37Speaker 1: and forties where you want to go. Those two people
- 27:39Speaker 1: who care about the way they look and will buy
- 27:41Speaker 1: your product on a This is about a business call.
- 27:44Speaker 1: That's where you come on money making conversations so you
- 27:46Speaker 1: can extend your credibility and also let people know that
- 27:50Speaker 1: your brain is available to everybody and not just available
- 27:53Speaker 1: just for a beard, for all types of hair that's
- 27:55Speaker 1: on your face. But also I'm a I'm a testament.
- 27:58Speaker 1: I I I'm a fan. That's where I got my
- 28:01Speaker 1: rugged tie. Got a more rugged tile here that everybody know.
