- 0:00Proverbs 17, 20. He who is a crooked mind finds
- 0:03no good, and he who is perverted in his language
- 0:05falls into evil. What you expect is what you
- 0:08get. In that, if your mind is want to do bad
- 0:13things, then you will see bad things everywhere
- 0:14you look. Thieves expect thieves, liars expect
- 0:17lies, and so on. Moreover, those whose mouths
- 0:20spew venom ensure that they will eventually do
- 0:22evil. But there's something more. A mind like
- 0:25this and a mouth like this can actually change
- 0:27good into bad. I've seen people who've been part
- 0:29of a great victory and they feel compelled to
- 0:31say something and that something then ruins the
- 0:35victory. Sometimes there is nothing to say and
- 0:38saying something when there is nothing to say
- 0:39is sort of an evil of its own. TV and social
- 0:43media makes it look like the world is a wicked
- 0:45place full of people who will snatch you up and
- 0:47violently abuse you. But that's not actually
- 0:49true. Most people are just trying to do good.
- 0:52It just happens that their version of good is
- 0:54one of their own making rather than the one that
- 0:55God has laid out. When we let Jesus make us whole,
- 0:58violent storms no longer find their home in us,
- 1:01and a man finds it less challenging to see and
- 1:03speak good in the world, which, of course, is
- 1:06all the more important because, as this verse
- 1:08points out, those who speak evil in turn do evil.
- 1:12Be good, see good, speak good, do good is the
- 1:15way of the living, and we are no longer dead
- 1:17in our trespasses and sins, so it should be our
- 1:20way.
