- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome. It is Verdict with Center. Ted Cruz, Ben Ferguson
- 0:04Speaker 1: with you as well, and it's so nice to have
- 0:05Speaker 1: you with us. If you're listening on the radio around
- 0:07Speaker 1: the country. We've got a lot to talk about in
- 0:10Speaker 1: today's show and Center. I tell you what, it's a
- 0:13Speaker 1: very interesting moment with this new breaking news that apparently
- 0:18Speaker 1: there was a lot of spying going on on people
- 0:20Speaker 1: in and around Donald Trump, including the FBI director Cash Paatel.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Well, just when you think the abuse of power from
- 0:28Speaker 2: the Joe Biden Department of Justice and FBI could not
- 0:30Speaker 2: get worse, it gets worse. We now have evidence that
- 0:36Speaker 2: the Biden FBI spied upon number one Susie Wiles, who
- 0:41Speaker 2: was then President Trump's campaign manager. Number two Cash Patel,
- 0:44Speaker 2: who is obviously now the director of the FBI, they
- 0:48Speaker 2: spied on him when he was a private citizen. We're
- 0:50Speaker 2: going to break that down. It is part of a
- 0:52Speaker 2: broader pattern of the Democrats being willing to abuse power,
- 0:57Speaker 2: do anything humanly possible to stop the Trump from being reelected.
- 1:01Speaker 2: The good news is they failed. Secondly, we're going to
- 1:04Speaker 2: talk about a tale of two Olympians. We're going to
- 1:07Speaker 2: talk about the comparison between Alissa Lou and Eileen Goo,
- 1:13Speaker 2: and the two are about as far apart as they
- 1:16Speaker 2: could possibly be. They both competed in the Olympics, they
- 1:20Speaker 2: competed for different countries, and the media reacted fundamentally differently.
- 1:24Speaker 2: One is a powerful inspirational story, the other less. So
- 1:29Speaker 2: we're going to break that down, and then finally we're
- 1:32Speaker 2: going to talk about what is really concerning. Data that
- 1:36Speaker 2: Democrats are not proud to be American. Well, we saw
- 1:41Speaker 2: that on display at the State of the Union, but
- 1:45Speaker 2: we're also seeing that in polling numbers in a way
- 1:48Speaker 2: that is really concerning and it points to a broader
- 1:51Speaker 2: problem in our society. We're going to lay out the
- 1:53Speaker 2: data and talk about what it means.
- 1:55Speaker 1: When I also take a moment and talk to you
- 1:56Speaker 1: about an amazing organization that I want you to know about.
- 1:59Speaker 1: It's called Passion International, and I need your attention for
- 2:03Speaker 1: just sixty seconds. Love, generosity, and compassion. We say those
- 2:07Speaker 1: words all the time, and they sound good, they feel good.
- 2:10Speaker 1: But here's the truth. Those words don't mean anything unless
- 2:14Speaker 1: they turn into action, and right now, not later, today,
- 2:19Speaker 1: not tomorrow. There's a child in the world who doesn't
- 2:22Speaker 1: know if they'll eat, if they'll have a chance to learn,
- 2:26Speaker 1: or if there's any hope at all. And while we're
- 2:30Speaker 1: all busy, life keeps moving forward, but that child is waiting.
- 2:34Speaker 1: This is where you come in with Compassion International. You
- 2:38Speaker 1: have the chance to change a child's future, not just
- 2:42Speaker 1: with words, not with promises, but with real help that
- 2:45Speaker 1: provides food, education and hope through local churches and people
- 2:51Speaker 1: already in their community. Put your words into action and
- 2:55Speaker 1: join me introduce a child to a loving heavenly father
- 2:59Speaker 1: today at Compassion dot com. That's Compassion dot com. Hey,
- 3:05Speaker 1: it's Ben Ferguson and I need your attention for just
- 3:08Speaker 1: sixty seconds. Love, generosity, and compassion. We say those words
- 3:12Speaker 1: all the time and they sound good, they feel good.
- 3:15Speaker 1: But here's the truth. Those words don't mean anything unless
- 3:19Speaker 1: they turn into action, and right now, not later, today,
- 3:24Speaker 1: not tomorrow. There's a child in the world who doesn't
- 3:27Speaker 1: know if they'll eat, if they'll have a chance to learn,
- 3:31Speaker 1: or if there's any hope at all. And while we're
- 3:35Speaker 1: all busy, life keeps moving forward, but that child is waiting.
- 3:39Speaker 1: This is where you come in with Compassion International. You
- 3:43Speaker 1: have the chance to change a child's future not just
- 3:47Speaker 1: with words, not with promises, but with real help that
- 3:50Speaker 1: provides food, education, and hope through local churches and people
- 3:56Speaker 1: already in their community. Put your words into action and
- 4:00Speaker 1: join me introduce a child to a loving heavenly father
- 4:04Speaker 1: today at compassion dot com. That's Compassion dot com. All right, Senator,
- 4:11Speaker 1: So let's get into this first topic. It is a
- 4:13Speaker 1: wild one. Every time you think that the deep state
- 4:15Speaker 1: can't get any worse than something like this happens. Allegedly. Now,
- 4:19Speaker 1: the FBI under Biden was secretly obtaining and I'm quoting now,
- 4:25Speaker 1: Susie Wilde, that's the chief of staff of the President
- 4:27Speaker 1: United States America's phone records, including from when she was
- 4:31Speaker 1: Trump's campaign manager. And they even recorded, apparently a phone
- 4:36Speaker 1: call she had with her lawyer while her lawyer knew
- 4:39Speaker 1: the phone call was being recorded, allegedly but she did
- 4:42Speaker 1: not know it. So you want to talk about attorney
- 4:44Speaker 1: client privilege. That is shocking as well. Oh and then
- 4:47Speaker 1: by the way, the FBI director now cash Hotel. Yeah,
- 4:49Speaker 1: they were also spying on him also at the same time,
- 4:52Speaker 1: So like why not, right, it's the Joe Biden's FBI,
- 4:55Speaker 1: it's the corruption there they were spying on everybody in
- 4:57Speaker 1: quitting the campaign.
- 5:00Speaker 2: So we now know that the Biden, FBI, and Dojing
- 5:04Speaker 2: under Jack Smith, it was engaged in a massive dragnet,
- 5:08Speaker 2: and it was a dragnet targeted at clearly the nexus
- 5:11Speaker 2: of all evil, the villains that they were most concerned about,
- 5:13Speaker 2: and by that I mean Republicans, especially Republicans who supported
- 5:17Speaker 2: Donald J. Trump. They subpoened the phone records of twenty
- 5:21Speaker 2: percent of the Republicans in the United States Senate, including yours. Truly,
- 5:24Speaker 2: they subpeened my phone records, by the way, not just
- 5:27Speaker 2: my personal phone records. They literally subpoened my office phone records. Now,
- 5:32Speaker 2: these guys were actually not very competent with respect to me.
- 5:34Speaker 2: They subpoened the general number in my office that has
- 5:38Speaker 2: every person who calls in to complain about a pothole,
- 5:41Speaker 2: to complain about whatever they're angry about. That's what they
- 5:44Speaker 2: subpoenaed for me. So these guys are, let me just say,
- 5:48Speaker 2: the Nobel Prize for physics, they're not in the running
- 5:51Speaker 2: for not in the running. I love that what is
- 5:54Speaker 2: now released is that they also, in addition to four
- 5:57Speaker 2: hundred different Republicans turning us different conservative groups. They went
- 6:02Speaker 2: after Susie Wiles and Cash Pattel. Here's what CBS reported. Quote.
- 6:07Speaker 2: At least ten f FBI employees who worked for former
- 6:10Speaker 2: Special counsel Jacksmith's investigation in President Trump's retention of classified
- 6:14Speaker 2: records after he left the White House in twenty twenty
- 6:16Speaker 2: one were fired on Wednesday, multiple sources told CBS News.
- 6:22Speaker 2: The firings came after Reuters reported that the FBI had
- 6:24Speaker 2: subpoenaed records of phone calls made by FBI Director Cash
- 6:29Speaker 2: Patel and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles when
- 6:32Speaker 2: they were both still private citizens, as part of Smith's
- 6:35Speaker 2: probe into Trump. The Reuter's article quoted Patel, who alleged
- 6:40Speaker 2: that the FBI had secretly subpoenaed his phone records quote,
- 6:44Speaker 2: using flimsy pretexts and burying the entire proceeds in prohibited
- 6:48Speaker 2: case files designed to evade all oversight. The Reuter's article
- 6:54Speaker 2: added that it had not independently verified any of Patel's claims.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Patel did not provide any evidence a wrongdoing by the
- 7:00Speaker 2: staff who are terminated, and you go on to say.
- 7:04Speaker 2: CBS News confirmed with a source familiar with the matter
- 7:07Speaker 2: that Wiles's record were reviewed as part of the document's case,
- 7:11Speaker 2: but was unable to verify whether ptels were in the
- 7:15Speaker 2: case involving the twenty twenty election, known as Arctic Frost.
- 7:19Speaker 2: By the way, that that is named after a disease
- 7:21Speaker 2: that strikes oranges in the state of Florida, like the
- 7:25Speaker 2: fruit oranges that like. Let's get clear on this. The
- 7:28Speaker 2: name of the FBI investigation was essentially a pond on
- 7:32Speaker 2: Orange man Bad. This is a disease that kills oranges
- 7:37Speaker 2: in Florida. We the FBI, Democrats are using our power.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Are a disease killing oranges in Florida. I mean that
- 7:43Speaker 2: They're not subtle if you look at this. What is interesting,
- 7:51Speaker 2: as you mentioned number one, the reporting is that that
- 7:55Speaker 2: Susie Wiles was on a phone call with her lawyer yeh,
- 7:59Speaker 2: and the the FBI intercepted the call. And then the
- 8:02Speaker 2: claim is that her lawyer knew that the FBI was
- 8:06Speaker 2: intercepting the call. Now now I've googled this, this evening
- 8:10Speaker 2: her lawyer at the time, a guy named Hank Cox, claims,
- 8:13Speaker 2: I didn't know. I don't know what they're talking about.
- 8:15Speaker 2: I've never I've never known of any client of mine
- 8:18Speaker 2: being intercepted and taped while I was talking to them.
- 8:22Speaker 2: I got to say my reaction. And you know you
- 8:24Speaker 2: read a minute ago that story. It may not have
- 8:27Speaker 2: horrified you at the same level it did me. As
- 8:31Speaker 2: a lawyer. The idea if I'm your lawyer, and by
- 8:34Speaker 2: the way, if i'm your lawyer, I mean, good god,
- 8:36Speaker 2: there's a lot of criminal conduct I could be representing
- 8:38Speaker 2: you for so a host of of Listen.
- 8:43Speaker 1: What you for a dollar one time? That's the retainer,
- 8:45Speaker 1: is how I look at it.
- 8:46Speaker 2: But the idea for any lawyer that you would know
- 8:50Speaker 2: law enforcement was taping your conversation with your client. You
- 8:53Speaker 2: would be disparked, You would lose your license, like.
- 8:57Speaker 1: You would lose your license if you did that. Correct,
- 9:00Speaker 1: you're a part of that.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:01Speaker 2: So before we started recording this, I literally jumped on
- 9:04Speaker 2: my phone. I'm like, wait a second. As a lawyer,
- 9:06Speaker 2: you can't do that. That means you don't get to
- 9:09Speaker 2: be a lawyer ever. Again, I was gratified in a sense.
- 9:12Speaker 2: I don't know this particular fellow, Hank Cox, but he
- 9:14Speaker 2: at least is saying this is a lie. I didn't
- 9:17Speaker 2: sign off. I don't know what the facts are, but
- 9:19Speaker 2: I hope we drilled down and find the facts. Regardless
- 9:23Speaker 2: Jack Smith and the Biden DOJ there were no bounds
- 9:27Speaker 2: of propriety other than get Trump Orange Man bad at
- 9:31Speaker 2: any cost.
- 9:32Speaker 1: I want to go to the politics of this for
- 9:34Speaker 1: a second. What I find very interesting center about this
- 9:39Speaker 1: story is the timeline of when they were doing this.
- 9:43Speaker 1: If you are spying on and listening in on Susie Wilds,
- 9:46Speaker 1: for example, she was in many ways the de facto
- 9:50Speaker 1: campaign manager for Donald Trump. Early on, she was going
- 9:53Speaker 1: to be involved in the campaign in every decision. There
- 9:55Speaker 1: was a lot of people wondering if Trump was going
- 9:57Speaker 1: to run or not. This covers that time, and if
- 9:59Speaker 1: you're listening those phone calls, you're listening in that, I
- 10:02Speaker 1: would assume to everything that deals with the campaign or
- 10:05Speaker 1: campaign strategy. You can see who she's talking to, who
- 10:07Speaker 1: they may be calling, prospective donors, people they may want
- 10:11Speaker 1: to get on their staff on the campaign. Like that
- 10:13Speaker 1: is that is interference in election in my opinion, because
- 10:17Speaker 1: you're spying on your political opponent. By the way they've
- 10:18Speaker 1: done it before, we know that they were spying on
- 10:20Speaker 1: Trump's campaign in twenty sixteen as well, So I guess
- 10:23Speaker 1: it's like, why not do it? And then you're spying
- 10:26Speaker 1: on cash Betel as well, why would you do that?
- 10:28Speaker 1: He was also going to be involved in the campaign,
- 10:31Speaker 1: and heavily involved. So those two things right there are
- 10:33Speaker 1: the timeline. That's the part I think is so egregious here.
- 10:36Speaker 1: It's like, hey, all right, who are going to be
- 10:38Speaker 1: up against Well, let's just listen in and see what
- 10:40Speaker 1: their campaign strategy is.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Well, Ben, as you know, the third book I wrote
- 10:46Speaker 2: was called Justice Corrupted, How the Left has weaponized the
- 10:49Speaker 2: legal system and trace the history of it. It started
- 10:52Speaker 2: with Richard Nixon. I'm not a fan of Richard Dixon.
- 10:56Speaker 2: I think the man was a total and complete crook. Now,
- 10:58Speaker 2: I also think the deep conspired against him. And yet,
- 11:03Speaker 2: even as bad as it was, there was a limit
- 11:06Speaker 2: to how much they went after him. And in fact,
- 11:08Speaker 2: a number of people in the deep state resisted Nixon's
- 11:12Speaker 2: efforts to weaponize government against his political opponents. What Richard
- 11:17Speaker 2: Nixon tried to do, Barack Obama succeeded in doing. And
- 11:23Speaker 2: much of this cancer in the government started with Barack Obama,
- 11:27Speaker 2: who turned the machinery of the federal government into a
- 11:30Speaker 2: weapon to attack his political opponents. He spent eight years
- 11:34Speaker 2: doing that. The IRS was weaponized, the FBI was weaponized,
- 11:37Speaker 2: the DOJ was weaponized, the alphabet soup, every federal agency
- 11:41Speaker 2: was weaponized to go after Obama's political opponents. Then, to
- 11:45Speaker 2: the shock of all of them, Donald Trump gets elected
- 11:49Speaker 2: in twenty sixteen. Now we know that the Obama DOJ
- 11:53Speaker 2: was spying on Donald Trump the first time he ran.
- 11:56Speaker 2: And when he.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Came into ARNI said that everybody said he was crazy lying.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Remember the media laughed at him. It was totally right.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Yeah, he's deranged that never it didn't happen. He was
- 12:06Speaker 1: inspired on. He has no information to back this up.
- 12:08Speaker 1: And then sure if it became fact, none of them
- 12:10Speaker 1: corrected their stories.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Of course, and when he came into office. A significant
- 12:16Speaker 2: mistake President Trump made in the first term as he
- 12:18Speaker 2: kept James Comy on as the head of the FBI.
- 12:21Speaker 2: That was a catastrophic mistake and one that he certainly
- 12:25Speaker 2: grew to regret as time went on. I think the
- 12:29Speaker 2: first Trump White House believed they could get Komy on
- 12:32Speaker 2: the reservation, get him actually focused on doing his job
- 12:35Speaker 2: as head of the FBI, rather than just being a
- 12:37Speaker 2: partisan Democrat. Attacking them. That was mistaken. And from the
- 12:43Speaker 2: earliest days of the Trump administration, look Michael Flynn when
- 12:48Speaker 2: he was named the incoming National Security Advisor, James Combing,
- 12:51Speaker 2: the FBI were already going after him, trying to destroy him.
- 12:55Speaker 2: They tried to destroy for four years, the deep state
- 12:59Speaker 2: tried to destroy the Donald Trump. They almost did. Look Russia, Russia,
- 13:03Speaker 2: Russia the entire and it was a lie. It was
- 13:07Speaker 2: literally concocted by Hillary Clinton's research opposition and and and
- 13:12Speaker 2: and to be clear, it would have worked. It reminds
- 13:17Speaker 2: me of like the old Scooby Doo when the villain
- 13:19Speaker 2: has the mass pulled off off his face and said, uh,
- 13:22Speaker 2: you know, I would have succeeded if not for you
- 13:25Speaker 2: meddling kids like that is the Obama and Biden d O.
- 13:32Speaker 1: J and And to be clear, to put this in context,
- 13:36Speaker 1: the still dossier, the FBI said, we'll give you a
- 13:39Speaker 1: million bucks if.
- 13:40Speaker 2: You by the way, that that that's some good French.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Can you say that word dossier again? I like that
- 13:46Speaker 2: you fling your hand in the Okay, you're pinky when
- 13:51Speaker 2: you say dossier. I wantsier.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, it's still dossier. They described Okay, they said, look.
- 14:01Speaker 2: You're an honorary in Mississippi. Boy, that's dossier.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Yeah now right there. That then they're no, here was doser.
- 14:09Speaker 1: So they went to Michael Steele and they said, if
- 14:11Speaker 1: you can corroborate any of this, we'll give you a
- 14:13Speaker 1: million bucks. He couldn't do it, the guy who authored it.
- 14:16Speaker 1: They then classified it at the FBI as user generated,
- 14:21Speaker 1: meaning it's fictitious. This is not real. They brought this
- 14:25Speaker 1: to us, it's user generated, meaning they created it out
- 14:27Speaker 1: of thin air. And they still went forward with using
- 14:31Speaker 1: it as the basis to go after Donald Trump. The
- 14:34Speaker 1: FBI knew it was a lie. They even said and
- 14:37Speaker 1: categorized it as a lie.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Look, twenty five years ago, I was in the Department
- 14:42Speaker 2: of Justice, right at the beginning of the George W.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Bush administration. I was an Associate Deputy Attorney General. By
- 14:48Speaker 2: the way, government is weird. Yes, I had that many
- 14:50Speaker 2: modifiers in my title. Associate Deputy Attorney general.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Kind of a big deal, that's what he should have
- 14:55Speaker 1: said under your name plate. No kind of a big deal.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Actually, the more accurate thing is kind of a medium
- 15:00Speaker 2: sized deal. That would that would nothing? Not nothing? I
- 15:06Speaker 2: mean I was not like a summer intern at the time,
- 15:09Speaker 2: but but not particularly about deal.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Keep going, I'm ready.
- 15:12Speaker 2: But when I was a DOJ, the idea that the
- 15:17Speaker 2: department would spy on the political opponents of the administration.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Like if someone had come in and said, Okay, Bush, DOJ,
- 15:25Speaker 2: let's spy on Bill Clinton, Let's spy on Hillary Hillary Clinton,
- 15:30Speaker 2: let's spy on the sky. Barack Obama, let's spy on
- 15:33Speaker 2: Joe Biden. Let's spy on Chuck Schumer. Look, there are
- 15:35Speaker 2: a lot of Democrats. It would have first of all,
- 15:39Speaker 2: been laughed out of the room. You'd been like, no, okay,
- 15:42Speaker 2: that's not what we do. At at a minimum, let's
- 15:45Speaker 2: suppose you had really serious evidence. You you had evidence
- 15:49Speaker 2: of of say, some Democrat I don't know, cutting a
- 15:53Speaker 2: deal and sending one point seven billion dollars in cash
- 15:56Speaker 2: and on Mark Palletts to Iran in exchange for a
- 16:00Speaker 2: political deal. By the way, that actually happened. Barack Obama
- 16:02Speaker 2: did that. Yeah, even then, you wouldn't spy on Obama.
- 16:05Speaker 2: But if you had horrible evidence, the checks and balances
- 16:10Speaker 2: in the Department of Justice to doing that would have
- 16:12Speaker 2: been enormous. The entire system would have said, okay, we
- 16:16Speaker 2: want to hire threshold. We want to be certain that
- 16:18Speaker 2: this is not abuse of power. And what is amazing
- 16:22Speaker 2: is during the Biden DOJ there were no checks. Spy
- 16:25Speaker 2: on twenty percent of the Republicans in the Senate. Good
- 16:28Speaker 2: bye me, spy on Trump's campaign manager, good by me,
- 16:31Speaker 2: spy on cash Betel, good bye me. They were drunk
- 16:34Speaker 2: with power, and the rule of law was utterly and
- 16:37Speaker 2: completely forgotten.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Israel is a very hot topic right now, and with
- 16:42Speaker 1: so many opinions and emotions surrounding it, it can feel
- 16:45Speaker 1: hard to know where to start. The Bible tells us
- 16:48Speaker 1: I will bless those who bless you. That isn't just
- 16:52Speaker 1: a comforting promise, it's a clear calling from God, and today,
- 16:56Speaker 1: with anti Semitism rising around the world, that calling is
- 16:59Speaker 1: more urgent than ever. At a time when Jewish communities
- 17:02Speaker 1: are experiencing more hostility, more threats, and more violence than ever,
- 17:07Speaker 1: Christians have a powerful opportunity to respond with God's love
- 17:10Speaker 1: to say you are not alone. When Christians choose to
- 17:15Speaker 1: bless Israel, we're not entering a political issue. We're honoring
- 17:18Speaker 1: the root of our faith and standing against hatred, supporting
- 17:22Speaker 1: Israel is more than a belief, it's a biblical mandate.
- 17:26Speaker 1: And by partnering with the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews,
- 17:30Speaker 1: you can push back against darkness and be a light
- 17:33Speaker 1: to God's people. Learn how you can bless Israel and
- 17:36Speaker 1: be blessed in return. Visit IFCJ dot org today. That's
- 17:41Speaker 1: IFCJ dot org today. Be a blessing, live in the world.
- 17:45Speaker 1: Answer the call. All right, Senata, let's talk about the Olympics.
- 17:49Speaker 1: There were so many cool stories out of the Olympics.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Obviously celebrating hockey that kind of took everything over when
- 17:56Speaker 1: that happened, But there was some other really incredible and
- 17:59Speaker 1: important stories in these Olympics. And one of them that
- 18:04Speaker 1: just is something we got to talk about is involved
- 18:07Speaker 1: not only China, but also America's gold medalists who won
- 18:12Speaker 1: in figure skating. It's an amazing story.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Well, look, we obviously have the incredible victory of winning
- 18:19Speaker 2: the gold in both men's hockey and women's hockey, and
- 18:23Speaker 2: I got to say that moment was extraordinary. At the
- 18:25Speaker 2: State of the Union, it was wonderful to see the
- 18:28Speaker 2: men's gold winning Olympic hockey team there, the pride they
- 18:33Speaker 2: had for America was fabulous. But there's also a story
- 18:36Speaker 2: that got some coverage. But I think it's worth going
- 18:38Speaker 2: back and focusing because it was a powerful contrast and
- 18:41Speaker 2: it was a contrast between two Olympians. It was a
- 18:43Speaker 2: contrast between Alyssa Lou and Eileen Goo. Now both are
- 18:48Speaker 2: women of Chinese heritage. One Alyssa, competed for the United States,
- 18:55Speaker 2: the other, Eileen, competed for China. Let's start with Alyssa
- 18:59Speaker 2: because Melissa's story is extraordinary, and I want to read
- 19:02Speaker 2: from a tweet from a fellow name Afshine m Ronnie.
- 19:07Speaker 2: I don't know who this person is, but I thought
- 19:09Speaker 2: the way he wrote it was very effective. Here's what
- 19:11Speaker 2: he said, the ultimate American revenge story. The script couldn't
- 19:16Speaker 2: have been have written it better. In nineteen eighty nine,
- 19:20Speaker 2: Arthur Liu fled China as a political refugee after the
- 19:24Speaker 2: Tienamen Square massacre. He came to America with nothing but
- 19:29Speaker 2: a dream for a free life. Decades later, his daughter,
- 19:32Speaker 2: Alyssa Lou became the face of Team USA, but the
- 19:36Speaker 2: CCP didn't forget. Before the twenty twenty Beijing Olympics, the
- 19:41Speaker 2: FBI uncovered a brazen spying operation. The target Alissa and
- 19:47Speaker 2: her father. The Chinese government tried to stalk them on
- 19:51Speaker 2: us soil, intimidate her into silence, pressure her to turn
- 19:56Speaker 2: her back on the country that gave her family refuge.
- 20:00Speaker 2: The FBI had to give them twenty four to seven
- 20:03Speaker 2: security just so she could compete. She faced intimidation, she
- 20:11Speaker 2: refused to be upawn, She walked away from the sport
- 20:15Speaker 2: for two years to find her soul again, and then
- 20:19Speaker 2: she came back with a vengeance. Today the story is complete.
- 20:25Speaker 2: In a flawless performance to Donna Summers MacArthur Park, Alyssa
- 20:29Speaker 2: Loud just did the impossible Olympic gold, the first American
- 20:36Speaker 2: woman to win individual gold in twenty four years. She
- 20:41Speaker 2: didn't just skate for a medal, She skated for the
- 20:45Speaker 2: freedom her father risked everything for. She didn't just win
- 20:50Speaker 2: for herself, She won for the flag that protected her
- 20:55Speaker 2: family when the world felt small. That's what a patriot
- 20:59Speaker 2: looked like. Now, I got to say, I want to
- 21:01Speaker 2: give listeners some background into this show. The way you
- 21:06Speaker 2: and I record this pod. As we sit down right
- 21:08Speaker 2: before recording it, and we go through all the stories
- 21:11Speaker 2: that are in the news. We Sara, what do we
- 21:13Speaker 2: want to talk about? And by the way, the pod
- 21:14Speaker 2: is not scripted like you and I don't know what
- 21:16Speaker 2: we're going to say. We just sort of talk about topics.
- 21:19Speaker 2: We pick a couple of topics and riff on it
- 21:21Speaker 2: and I want everyone to know. Ben is like, no, no, no,
- 21:25Speaker 2: I don't want to cover this story. Ben said, I
- 21:27Speaker 2: hate Americans, I hate Olympians. Yeah, I can't.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Skate, and true, I'm a very good skater.
- 21:34Speaker 2: And I'm secretly a communist.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Okay there were Okay, yeah, I got it. Okay, I
- 21:38Speaker 1: see where we're going here.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Now are you a good skater? I suck at skating.
- 21:42Speaker 2: I'm a horrible skater.
- 21:43Speaker 1: So my dad's you know, from up north, and that
- 21:46Speaker 1: was like one thing. It would take us skating his
- 21:48Speaker 1: kids and then we would skate on the ponds. We
- 21:50Speaker 1: went to North Dakota. So, yeah, I've been skating a
- 21:52Speaker 1: long time.
- 21:53Speaker 2: I'm an unbelievably bad skater. I basically wobble around the
- 21:57Speaker 2: skate rink and hold onto the walls the whole time.
- 21:59Speaker 2: It's terror like four year olds come skating past me
- 22:03Speaker 2: and or like get out of the way, like you
- 22:05Speaker 2: you you terrible thing I can.
- 22:07Speaker 1: I can picture this, and I believe you completely that
- 22:10Speaker 1: you're not over selling that point at all.
- 22:12Speaker 2: I'm not. But let's just say for the record, I
- 22:14Speaker 2: can kick your ascid basketball. And to be clear, I've
- 22:18Speaker 2: broken your finger playing basketball.
- 22:20Speaker 1: That is true. The kime the a part. At some
- 22:23Speaker 1: point we might need a one on one game, just
- 22:24Speaker 1: so the audience shows the score.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Here, I've just said, all right, look, look you've got
- 22:29Speaker 2: mass and strength. But but I'm just I'm just saying
- 22:32Speaker 2: you can't shoot to save your life.
- 22:34Speaker 4: All right?
- 22:35Speaker 2: Why did I want to cover this story? Look, some
- 22:38Speaker 2: of it is as the child of a refugee from Cuba.
- 22:42Speaker 2: I find Alyssa Lou's story inspirational. I find it now
- 22:46Speaker 2: you identify with It's incredible and and and listen, there's
- 22:49Speaker 2: a contrast with her and Eileen Goo. Now now I
- 22:52Speaker 2: want to say something. So Eileen Goo is also Chinese heritage.
- 22:56Speaker 2: She's a student at Stanford. Alyssa's a figure skater. She
- 23:00Speaker 2: on the gold Eileen who is a downhill skier. She
- 23:03Speaker 2: won two silvers. Both were offered the opportunity from China
- 23:08Speaker 2: that the Chinese Communist government said, we will give you
- 23:12Speaker 2: millions of dollars to compete.
- 23:14Speaker 1: For China, literally millions. You're not joking, like some report's
- 23:17Speaker 1: been upwards of six million plus.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Yeah, like massive amounts of money. And Eileen said yes,
- 23:24Speaker 2: and Alyssa said no. Now, I got to say, in
- 23:27Speaker 2: the conservative media, there's been a world of hate pounded
- 23:32Speaker 2: and dumped on Eileen. I'm not in that camp. Look,
- 23:35Speaker 2: she's a like twenty year old college kid. I don't
- 23:39Speaker 2: have any hate or animosity to her. I understand. I mean, look,
- 23:42Speaker 2: if I were in college, no one there been reports
- 23:45Speaker 2: she received like fourteen million dollars. No one ever offered
- 23:49Speaker 2: me fourteen million dollars in college. I understand that. And
- 23:53Speaker 2: there is something of a tradition in the Olympics. You
- 23:56Speaker 2: think about the NBA where you have all these stars,
- 24:00Speaker 2: you know, Victor Wemba Yamu in the NBA competes for France,
- 24:05Speaker 2: Alpa and Shengoon competes for Turkey. They have lots of
- 24:09Speaker 2: people who are from other countries. They compete for other
- 24:11Speaker 2: countries and no one is horrified and they're not like
- 24:14Speaker 2: you're a horrible human being.
- 24:17Speaker 1: But let me say here's the difference.
- 24:19Speaker 2: It's different. It is different, But go ahead.
- 24:20Speaker 1: It's the reason why this one's different is when you
- 24:23Speaker 1: grow up in America and you do everything in America
- 24:27Speaker 1: and you're part of this country and this country supports you,
- 24:30Speaker 1: and then because someone throws money at you, you defect
- 24:34Speaker 1: to communists China. That's the difference between if you come
- 24:38Speaker 1: into the league from another country and you play in
- 24:41Speaker 1: the NBA and then you go back to Like when
- 24:43Speaker 1: I played tennis, a lot of the guys from smaller
- 24:45Speaker 1: countries would go back and play Davis Cup or the
- 24:47Speaker 1: Olympics for their team. It was awesome, Like there was
- 24:49Speaker 1: teammates of mine that made their Olympic team. There was
- 24:51Speaker 1: from you know, Kazakhstan or smaller nations and they were
- 24:54Speaker 1: the best in their country. That's not defecting from America, right,
- 24:58Speaker 1: But when you're in America and your American and then
- 25:00Speaker 1: you're like, all right, I'm literally defecting and gonna go
- 25:02Speaker 1: do this for China and it's solely for a big payday.
- 25:07Speaker 1: It was from an athlete standpoint, I get the money.
- 25:10Speaker 1: But it is different than if you're in the NBA
- 25:13Speaker 1: and you're from France, like Martin Gasol and Paegasol, and
- 25:15Speaker 1: they go and play against the USA in that game, like,
- 25:17Speaker 1: I have no qualms about that. That's where you were raised.
- 25:20Speaker 2: To be clear, the Gasols are from Spain, not France.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Different wherever it is. But we Latins don't like when
- 25:26Speaker 2: you call us French like that. That is getting it wrong.
- 25:30Speaker 1: You the power and mark there you go, Okay.
- 25:33Speaker 2: You're right that it's different. You know, Victor wemen Yama's French.
- 25:36Speaker 2: You grew up in France, like his whole background is that.
- 25:39Speaker 2: So it is different when you go and play for
- 25:41Speaker 2: the country you were born and grew up in. Both
- 25:44Speaker 2: Alyssa and Eileen were born in and grew up in America,
- 25:48Speaker 2: so that is different. That being said that, there was
- 25:53Speaker 2: some real vitriol directed at Eileen, and listen, she's a
- 25:57Speaker 2: twenty year old Olympic athlete. I don't have anger towards her.
- 26:02Speaker 2: But my view is simple. If you decide I want
- 26:06Speaker 2: to compete for China, I want to win the gold
- 26:09Speaker 2: medal for China, you can do that, but you know
- 26:13Speaker 2: what you're saying, I want one point three billion people
- 26:16Speaker 2: in China to root for me, and I want to
- 26:19Speaker 2: beat the United States of America. Well, you know what,
- 26:22Speaker 2: I'm not going to root for you. I'm going to
- 26:25Speaker 2: root for the for the athletes that say I'm competing
- 26:28Speaker 2: for America, I'm not. I thought people were a little
- 26:32Speaker 2: bit overwrought in condemning Aileenu. I don't know her at all,
- 26:36Speaker 2: and she's a talented athlete and she's, you know, a
- 26:38Speaker 2: twenty year old kid. But she made the decision she
- 26:43Speaker 2: wants the Chinese to root for and she does not
- 26:45Speaker 2: want America to root for. It. To be clear, when
- 26:47Speaker 2: she made that decision, she's saying, I want the United
- 26:50Speaker 2: States of America to lose. Yeah, that's a decision I
- 26:54Speaker 2: disagree with. And the contrast with Alyssa Lu, she was
- 26:59Speaker 2: offered millions.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Senator, I also think this really cool part of the
- 27:04Speaker 1: story is Alisilu's father. We mentioned that earlier, but like,
- 27:07Speaker 1: this is a guy that sacrificed everything, had to flee
- 27:13Speaker 1: the country, comes to America. He is literally being attacked
- 27:17Speaker 1: and still being hunted by the Chinese government to the
- 27:20Speaker 1: point where the FBI is coming after him, and on
- 27:23Speaker 1: top of that, stays focus to make his daughter an
- 27:26Speaker 1: Olympic gold medalist while having to look over his shoulder,
- 27:30Speaker 1: to the point where the FBI had to give them protection.
- 27:32Speaker 1: That's the best part of the story as well, Like
- 27:34Speaker 1: they love this country. They didn't take the money. By
- 27:36Speaker 1: the way they took the money, I'm assuming they wouldn't
- 27:38Speaker 1: need protection anymore.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Right, Look, he was incredibly driven. He raised his daughter.
- 27:43Speaker 2: She was extraordinary. And I will say one aspect of
- 27:46Speaker 2: this story that I really like. According to the Internet,
- 27:49Speaker 2: according to Twitter, apparently Alissa lou is politically liberal and
- 27:54Speaker 2: so leftists are like you, conservatives can't cheer her on
- 27:57Speaker 2: because she is allegedly woke. I don't know she's political
- 28:00Speaker 2: liberal or not, but you know what, I don't care care.
- 28:03Speaker 2: She competed for America. When she was standing there, she
- 28:05Speaker 2: had the American flag around her shoulder. She's cheering up
- 28:08Speaker 2: as as the star spangled banner. She's cheering for America,
- 28:12Speaker 2: and I'm cheering for her. And I don't give a
- 28:14Speaker 2: damn if she votes for Barack Obama or Joe Biden.
- 28:17Speaker 2: She's an American and I'm proud to cheer her on.
- 28:21Speaker 1: So now I want to go back to the dad.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Listen's father. He did an interview recently and it was
- 28:27Speaker 1: just a little bit about the story of the political
- 28:29Speaker 1: pressure that he was under. From China that they were
- 28:31Speaker 1: under from China, and just to be able to get
- 28:34Speaker 1: through this much pressure and still pursue the dreams of
- 28:38Speaker 1: your daughter is amazing. Take a listen, CLEA.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Head of the twenty twenty two Winter Alise in Beijing,
- 28:44Speaker 3: the Justice Department in FBI said that China actually sent
- 28:47Speaker 3: individuals to track and target you and your family, including
- 28:52Speaker 3: her ahead of the Olympics. Talk to us about what that.
- 28:55Speaker 3: What was Beijing's motivation? Were you afraid for her?
- 29:00Speaker 2: Well?
- 29:01Speaker 4: Because of my background, because I was wanted by the
- 29:05Speaker 4: Chinese government back in nineteen eighty nine, and after I
- 29:09Speaker 4: came to America, I also continued to organize protests in
- 29:15Speaker 4: front of the Chinese Counselate in San Francisco, some protests
- 29:20Speaker 4: and hunger strikes in front of the Chinese embassy in Washington, DC.
- 29:26Speaker 4: The Chinese government never let me go and continue to
- 29:33Speaker 4: aspire me. And before the Winter Olympic Games in twenty
- 29:38Speaker 4: twenty two, I was, you know, I got a phone
- 29:43Speaker 4: call from somebody who claimed to be from the US
- 29:46Speaker 4: Olympic Committee and wanted copies of my passport and Alisa's passport,
- 29:53Speaker 4: And then the FBI informed me that the Chinese government
- 29:58Speaker 4: is flying spying on me. And of course I was
- 30:03Speaker 4: concerned about a Lisa going to China to compete.
- 30:09Speaker 1: You listened to him talking about the concerns. Yeah, I'd
- 30:11Speaker 1: have a lot of concerns the father as well.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Of course, and and listen that this man loves his daughter.
- 30:17Speaker 2: And I got to say Alissa's Olympic gold performance it
- 30:20Speaker 2: was beautiful. I'm not particularly into figure skating. I got
- 30:23Speaker 2: to say, she did a gorgeous, uh performance. It was
- 30:29Speaker 2: there was a sense of joy and abandon and watching
- 30:33Speaker 2: it that that that was really fabulous and and it
- 30:37Speaker 2: and it made you, It made you really happy for her.
- 30:40Speaker 2: It made you cheer her on. There's there's a great image.
- 30:43Speaker 2: I love a photo taken from above as she's like
- 30:46Speaker 2: spinning and looking up and that there's a level of
- 30:49Speaker 2: just reckless abandon and it's not reckless about it. It's
- 30:51Speaker 2: actually incredibly controlled, joyful skill.
- 30:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:57Speaker 2: But but look, it made you proud of America. And
- 31:00Speaker 2: I got to say, you would think everyone to be
- 31:02Speaker 2: proud of America watching that. But what is amazing. So
- 31:06Speaker 2: there was recent polling numbers that came out from Gallup
- 31:09Speaker 2: that are highly concerning that showed that that not everyone
- 31:13Speaker 2: is proud of America anymore. And if you look at
- 31:16Speaker 2: just the generic question, US adults pride in being American
- 31:22Speaker 2: twenty one to twenty twenty five. So in two thousand
- 31:26Speaker 2: and one, eighty seven percent said they were extremely very proud.
- 31:33Speaker 2: By twenty twenty five that had dropped to fifty eight percent.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Eighty seven to fifty eight. That's a massive decrease. And
- 31:38Speaker 2: you might say, well, I don't know what's driving that,
- 31:41Speaker 2: But actually the second chart is even more concerning because
- 31:46Speaker 2: it's not just everyone's losing faith in America. It's not
- 31:49Speaker 2: just that everyone is no longer proud of being an American.
- 31:51Speaker 2: It's very particular and ideological. It is democrats, it is liberals.
- 31:56Speaker 2: And I want to focus on this chart that Gallup
- 31:59Speaker 2: put out. So in two thousand and one, ninety percent
- 32:05Speaker 2: of Republicans were very proud of being American, eighty seven
- 32:11Speaker 2: percent of Democrats were very proud of being American. So
- 32:14Speaker 2: there's not really a partisan divide. And by the way,
- 32:16Speaker 2: eighty four percent of independence were very proud, and so
- 32:19Speaker 2: it was a two thousand and one.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Okay, So yeah, get ready, folks, you're about to yeah Okay.
- 32:26Speaker 2: Twenty five years ago it was ninety percent, eighty seven
- 32:29Speaker 2: eighty four, So they were all clustered, they were all
- 32:30Speaker 2: within a few points of each other. Basically, everyone, whether
- 32:33Speaker 2: you were a Democrat or Republican, everyone eighty seven ninety
- 32:36Speaker 2: percent percent. I'm very proud of being an American. So let's
- 32:40Speaker 2: fast forward to two thousand and five. So two thousand
- 32:43Speaker 2: and five, two thousand and one, ninety percent of Republicans
- 32:46Speaker 2: were very proud of American to be American. In two
- 32:49Speaker 2: thousand and five, ninety two percent of Republicans are very
- 32:53Speaker 2: proud to be an American. So it actually has gone
- 32:54Speaker 2: up a little bit for Republicans. What has happened for independence?
- 32:58Speaker 2: So independence were at eighty four percent, and in twenty
- 33:01Speaker 2: five years it's dropped from eighty four percent to fifty
- 33:05Speaker 2: three percent.
- 33:07Speaker 1: So almost a fifty to fifty split. That you're prideful
- 33:10Speaker 1: in this country and you don't have pride in this country.
- 33:12Speaker 1: That's among independence.
- 33:13Speaker 2: That's scared, Okay, And I want to say the next
- 33:15Speaker 2: stat is even more horrifying. So Democrats in two thousand
- 33:19Speaker 2: and one, eighty seven percent of Democrats, I'm very proud
- 33:23Speaker 2: to be an American. What do you think the number
- 33:26Speaker 2: is in two thousand and five.
- 33:28Speaker 1: I think the majority of Democrats hate this country, So
- 33:30Speaker 1: I'm going to say twenty eight.
- 33:31Speaker 2: Percent, So it's not quite that bad, but it's thirty
- 33:36Speaker 2: six percent.
- 33:37Speaker 1: I mean, well, and it again to twenty eight and
- 33:39Speaker 1: a few more years, I guarantee you that.
- 33:41Speaker 2: So it went from eighty seven percent to thirty six percent.
- 33:45Speaker 2: So the differential. If you're a Republican, ninety two percent
- 33:49Speaker 2: of you are proud to be an American. If you're Democrat,
- 33:51Speaker 2: only thirty six percent are very proud to be an American.
- 33:55Speaker 2: I got to say that is.
- 33:57Speaker 1: How much of that center do you think is our
- 33:59Speaker 1: public school? Says some of our universities like training up
- 34:01Speaker 1: an entire generation to be a shade of America.
- 34:04Speaker 2: It's indoctrinating leftists. And part of leftism is that America
- 34:09Speaker 2: is evil. We are colonialist, oppressive nation. They're taught that
- 34:14Speaker 2: capitalism is evil, and frankly, look, going back to the
- 34:18Speaker 2: story we just covered again, I don't know Eileen Goo,
- 34:21Speaker 2: but she's at Stanford. I assume she's been raised by
- 34:24Speaker 2: leftists all her life. You know, she was asked, what
- 34:27Speaker 2: do you think about the Communist Party committing a genic
- 34:31Speaker 2: side against Wiggers, having over a million Wigers in concentration camps.
- 34:34Speaker 2: And she said, hey, that's not my problem. I'm not
- 34:36Speaker 2: worried about it. I don't mean the past judgment on her.
- 34:40Speaker 2: But I'm just saying that is the fruit of leftists
- 34:46Speaker 2: controlling our education system. That's saying you cannot have a
- 34:50Speaker 2: view is mass murder good or bad. I'm sorry leftists
- 34:54Speaker 2: say no, America is always bad. You cannot have a
- 34:56Speaker 2: view on over a million people in concentration camps, on
- 34:59Speaker 2: human slavery, on torture, on murder. No, no, no, America
- 35:02Speaker 2: is always bad. And look, we saw this at the
- 35:06Speaker 2: State of the Union. The moment that I thought defined
- 35:11Speaker 2: the whole State of the Union address is when President
- 35:14Speaker 2: Trump turned to the Democrats and he said, Okay, I'm
- 35:15Speaker 2: gonna give you a chance to decide right now, stand
- 35:18Speaker 2: up if you believe our first priority should be to
- 35:23Speaker 2: fight for American citizens and not illegal aliens. And every
- 35:29Speaker 2: single Democrat, all of them, one hundred percent, stayed sitting.
- 35:34Speaker 2: By the way, that image is going to be played
- 35:37Speaker 2: on a million campaign ads. I was talking to a
- 35:39Speaker 2: very senior official in the Trump White House today and
- 35:43Speaker 2: I was congratulating him on an incredibly successful State of
- 35:46Speaker 2: the Union and I brought that up. I said that
- 35:48Speaker 2: was the moment. He kind of laughed and he said, yeah.
- 35:50Speaker 2: I argued against that. He said, I didn't think it
- 35:53Speaker 2: would work. I didn't think they would fall for that.
- 35:56Speaker 2: I thought they'd all stand up. Yeah, and he said,
- 35:58Speaker 2: I thought it was at best fifty fifty. It's amazing,
- 36:01Speaker 2: not a single look. I'm not very good at putting
- 36:03Speaker 2: myself in the shoes of being a Democrat, but I would.
- 36:07Speaker 1: Think that's a good thing. By the way.
- 36:08Speaker 2: That's again, if I was a Democrat and heard that,
- 36:10Speaker 2: I would have stood up and said, yeah, we stand
- 36:12Speaker 2: for American citizens and not illegals. Like of course, twelve
- 36:16Speaker 2: seconds ago, that would have been what they did. They're
- 36:18Speaker 2: all so indoctrinated that every single one said, nope, we're
- 36:24Speaker 2: with illegals and not American citizens. That's tragic.
