- 0:17Speaker 1: things in a good Steve to the mother, I don't
- 0:39Speaker 1: join Jo. You gotta turn, you gotta turn to turn
- 1:41Speaker 1: them out. Turn, you got to turn them out. Then
- 1:46Speaker 1: turn the water the water go. Come come on your
- 1:59Speaker 1: tha uh huh I show. Well a good morning everybody,
- 2:04Speaker 1: and y'all listening to the voice. Come on dig me now,
- 2:08Speaker 1: one and only Steve Harvey got a radio show. Well,
- 2:11Speaker 1: nothing changes about that. Nothing changes about that. Man. I
- 2:17Speaker 1: was just so getting ready to come on to air
- 2:20Speaker 1: this morning. I was just thinking, man, I was just
- 2:25Speaker 1: having a reflective moment of just how really good God
- 2:30Speaker 1: has been to me. I just it's it's it's man.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Let me just say that again, how really good God
- 2:39Speaker 1: has been to me. And here's a cold part. In
- 2:43Speaker 1: spite of myself, you understand, in spite of all my shortcomings,
- 2:49Speaker 1: in spite of all of my flaws and and and
- 2:54Speaker 1: and in spite of all of what anybody has said
- 2:57Speaker 1: about me, God, through his grace and mercy, just keeps
- 3:02Speaker 1: me anyway. So many of us are exceptional people, but
- 3:09Speaker 1: we refuse to just go ahead and be exceptional. We
- 3:16Speaker 1: settle for the ordinary, We follow the pack, we try
- 3:22Speaker 1: to fit in. Man, oh man, oh man. You know
- 3:25Speaker 1: I've heard my wife say this to my children all
- 3:29Speaker 1: the time. When she's scolding and talking to him, she'd
- 3:31Speaker 1: be talking to him about leadership. You know, why are
- 3:34Speaker 1: you following everybody when God clearly made you to lead?
- 3:38Speaker 1: So many of us are born, and so many of
- 3:40Speaker 1: you are born to be exceptional people, but we always
- 3:45Speaker 1: trying to follow the pack. Why would you try to
- 3:48Speaker 1: fit in? Why would you try to be like everybody
- 3:54Speaker 1: else be ordinary? Why would you follow the pack when
- 3:59Speaker 1: God has created you to be exceptional? The key word
- 4:03Speaker 1: in exceptional is accept you. Have you ever done this
- 4:07Speaker 1: right here? You know? Everybody did that accept me. Everybody
- 4:12Speaker 1: felt that way except me. Everybody said that except me.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Everybody won't wanted that. Accept me. Everybody went over that
- 4:24Speaker 1: except me. Everybody jumped in, accept me, accept me. See
- 4:31Speaker 1: why have you said that in your life? If you
- 4:34Speaker 1: were not to be exceptional? See you got to say
- 4:38Speaker 1: everybody accept me at one point in You're to I
- 4:41Speaker 1: don't know who ain't done it? You know everybody wanted
- 4:44Speaker 1: everybody voted no, except me, see it. So you're not
- 4:50Speaker 1: You're not created to follow the pack. You ain't created
- 4:52Speaker 1: to fit in. You ain't created to, uh, you know,
- 4:56Speaker 1: to be ordinary. You will create it to be exceptional,
- 5:00Speaker 1: as exceptional as your fingerprint on your finger is. You
- 5:04Speaker 1: were created to be exceptional. Why not make this the
- 5:07Speaker 1: year that you go ahead on and be exceptional? Why
- 5:12Speaker 1: won't this be the year that you decide in your mind?
- 5:16Speaker 1: But just has to be a decision that we make.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Now we're not following the pack no more. We're not
- 5:22Speaker 1: trying to fit in no more. We ain't settling for
- 5:25Speaker 1: ordinary no more. We're gonna be exceptional. But you know,
- 5:29Speaker 1: you got you got to go ahead and follow that.
- 5:31Speaker 1: You got to get on the exceptional path because that's
- 5:34Speaker 1: what you were created for. Why be ordinary? You know?
- 5:37Speaker 1: But all of this this comes to it has to
- 5:40Speaker 1: start with a thought. You got to first think something
- 5:45Speaker 1: thought to become things. A man is as he thinketh
- 5:49Speaker 1: that's all you will ever be. So what are your
- 5:53Speaker 1: thoughts today? Why not have exceptional thoughts instead of ordinary thoughts?
- 5:57Speaker 1: Why not have exceptional thoughts instead to fit me in thoughts?
- 6:01Speaker 1: So why you want to be like everybody else? Why
- 6:04Speaker 1: you want to be ordinary when you could possibly be
- 6:07Speaker 1: extraordinary with a change of your mind, a change of
- 6:11Speaker 1: your venue. And you don't have to be any other
- 6:14Speaker 1: kind of way just because my mama was this way,
- 6:17Speaker 1: my daddy was this way, or this the school I
- 6:19Speaker 1: went to? This? What race I belong to? This is
- 6:22Speaker 1: my sexual preference, this is my this, this is my dad? Why?
- 6:26Speaker 1: How many? How many? How many excuses you need? I'm
- 6:29Speaker 1: an excuse? What? What? What? What? You? What's it gonna
- 6:31Speaker 1: be this year that we let another three hundred and
- 6:35Speaker 1: sixty five days slip by without improving our condition, our place,
- 6:40Speaker 1: our spot, our life, the quality of life we have.
- 6:45Speaker 1: We cannot afford to keep letting all these years go
- 6:50Speaker 1: by without changing. You're an exceptional person. How many times
- 6:56Speaker 1: have you set up and said, everybody did that accept me?
- 7:01Speaker 1: You know I was only everybody jumped in accept me.
- 7:05Speaker 1: I told him I knew it. Everybody voted for that,
- 7:07Speaker 1: accept me, And now look at it, man, it seemed
- 7:12Speaker 1: like everybody went that way except me. Okay, do you
- 7:17Speaker 1: get it? Do you understand what's being said to you
- 7:22Speaker 1: that don't accept me is because couldn't it be because
- 7:25Speaker 1: you're an exceptional person and It's time for you to
- 7:28Speaker 1: take control of that. It's time for you to start
- 7:31Speaker 1: thinking different. It's time for you to start acting on
- 7:34Speaker 1: what you think. It's time for you to start doing
- 7:37Speaker 1: something about it. It's time for you to stop taking
- 7:39Speaker 1: each and every day that God gives us for granted
- 7:42Speaker 1: and letting them go by the wayside. Like you got
- 7:45Speaker 1: plenty more. Well, you may have plenty more, but guess
- 7:48Speaker 1: what what you're wasting the ones you got for I
- 7:52Speaker 1: got you young, and you and you feel like you're
- 7:54Speaker 1: gonna live forever. Da Okay, cool, But let me ask
- 7:58Speaker 1: you something. See here here, here go the part about
- 8:00Speaker 1: pose you do live? See see everybody willing about dying.
- 8:04Speaker 1: But I got news for you. Suppose you keep on living.
- 8:07Speaker 1: You want to keep living in the condition you in now.
- 8:10Speaker 1: You want to keep living with the money you got now.
- 8:13Speaker 1: You want to keep living with the relationship you got now.
- 8:16Speaker 1: You want to keep living by yourself like you are now.
- 8:19Speaker 1: You want to keep wanting the right relationship, the right man,
- 8:21Speaker 1: the the right woman, but you keep getting the wrong one.
- 8:24Speaker 1: You want to keep doing that for the rest of
- 8:26Speaker 1: your life. Problem ain't dying. It's problem is if you
- 8:28Speaker 1: keep on living who wants to keep on living just
- 8:31Speaker 1: the way they are right now. And if you can
- 8:34Speaker 1: say I'm cool what I am, just the way I
- 8:36Speaker 1: am right now, it ain't cool. This conversation ain't for you.
- 8:39Speaker 1: I ain't got no problem with that. You know, you
- 8:42Speaker 1: want to say, greatness ain't for everybody being exceptional, ain't
- 8:46Speaker 1: for everybody becoming extraordinary. It ain't fun everybody. Heck, becoming
- 8:51Speaker 1: successful ain't fun everybody. I got it. And you can
- 8:55Speaker 1: come up with a way to justify your non existence
- 8:58Speaker 1: in your ordinary life. All you won't. And that's fine
- 9:01Speaker 1: and dandy. I ain't got no problem with it. Because
- 9:03Speaker 1: some people just gonna be regular. Some people just gonna
- 9:07Speaker 1: follow the pack, follow the crowd. Some people just wants
- 9:10Speaker 1: to fit in. But if you're not that person, if
- 9:14Speaker 1: you want to be extraordinary, if you want to be exceptional,
- 9:17Speaker 1: if you want to be if you want to dare
- 9:19Speaker 1: to be great at something, and you got to change
- 9:22Speaker 1: your mind set. You got to get with your creating,
- 9:25Speaker 1: find out what he created you fault. You gotta quit
- 9:27Speaker 1: thinking of things just in your own thought process, you know,
- 9:31Speaker 1: lean not to your own understanding. I don't know what
- 9:33Speaker 1: that is, but it's in there somewhere seeing. Once you lean,
- 9:37Speaker 1: if you lean to your own understanding, you know what
- 9:39Speaker 1: it's gonna do. It's gonna limit you. Man, it's gonna
- 9:42Speaker 1: limit you. Why not see what God got for you.
- 9:45Speaker 1: I would rather know what God got for me than
- 9:48Speaker 1: to think of all the things I could because I
- 9:50Speaker 1: can't out think him out and tried it before. All right,
- 9:53Speaker 1: it's just the beginning. We're gonna have a good one. Man.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Let's go. You're listening show. Everybody around the world. You
- 10:04Speaker 1: are listening. I ain't me morny show high I wanted

- 11:38Speaker 1: have the right coat. I bought and moved up in
- 11:41Speaker 1: the world, dressed enough for all the little girl. Hey hey,
- 11:45Speaker 1: got a suit on every day. He haging. He like
- 11:48Speaker 1: the money he made. The man he won't ruin. Yeah,

- 12:30Speaker 1: ain't been silence no more. Everybody think that he on
- 12:34Speaker 1: the round. I everybody know that he from the ground.
- 12:38Speaker 1: But I'm talking about my main man. I ain't named day.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Have any brown down, round brown round, brown, brown round brown.
- 12:48Speaker 1: I'm brown, brown, brown brown. I'm brown brown brown, running now,
- 12:53Speaker 1: running now, running down, steat some more. Here we go,
- 12:56Speaker 1: here we go, here we go. You know they say
- 12:59Speaker 1: that monotony, but it got the less sense of us

- 13:07Speaker 1: it failed when he was a baby somebody maybe I
- 13:11Speaker 1: don't know, Huh, stupid as ain't want to be. I
- 13:15Speaker 1: think he is. He got a princess what we call him?

- 13:52Speaker 1: always say, ask the CEO, how we always ask you
- 13:55Speaker 1: questions and you give us very beautiful, lovely, wonderful, responsible answers.
- 14:01Speaker 1: So we're gonna we're gonna, we're available for you to
- 14:04Speaker 1: ask us questions. Who do I start? You're gonna ask
- 14:07Speaker 1: us what we bring to the show. Yeah, No, I
- 14:10Speaker 1: ain't gonna ask you what I want? So far, so far?
- 14:16Speaker 1: See why who first? Surely let's go with Tommy first.

- 17:01Speaker 1: Didn't all the way over here while machine gun for
- 17:06Speaker 1: shooting over my I was like to feel yelling, yelling,
- 17:10Speaker 1: please somebody hit me. And I came up through the
- 17:13Speaker 1: ground right. I dug a hole after I got on
- 17:15Speaker 1: the outside of the fifth right up because I wanted
- 17:18Speaker 1: to come up and rise like the Phoenics. That's wise.
- 17:24Speaker 1: I ask you, whoaeth with my teeth? The only person? Yeah,
- 17:37Speaker 1: I was gonna say, asked me. Then asked Jay, but
- 17:39Speaker 1: go ahead, asked me. I'm ready, Yes, sir, What is
- 17:42Speaker 1: your value? If, first of all, you suck for that question.
- 17:52Speaker 1: I know you're the CEO, but I'm I'm everything. I
- 17:56Speaker 1: don't think the show could function without me. That's great.

- 22:20Speaker 1: I'm trying to see if it's all right for uh,
- 22:23Speaker 1: for me to take her out. I've been seeing her

- 22:40Speaker 1: if you could take her out. Man. Well, I wasn't

- 22:45Speaker 1: guess they give me your number. Bout mistake, you know,
- 22:47Speaker 1: that's my reason for Carl. I thought I was gonna

- 22:54Speaker 1: I just came back home from overseas, from fighting and everything. Man.
- 22:57Speaker 1: And uh, I mean you know my pops just as

- 23:03Speaker 1: I ain't too keen or my mama going out with
- 23:05Speaker 1: somebody and beside you, you don't even sound like you. Hey,
- 23:09Speaker 1: she in her sixties. Man, older you man, I'm thirty six.
- 23:13Speaker 1: The hell out of you? You how old man? I'm
- 23:15Speaker 1: thirty six, I'm thirty four. What is you doing? You

- 23:30Speaker 1: And how you carry yourself? You know? Yeah? But my hey,
- 23:33Speaker 1: but my mama ain't no cougar like that. And I

- 49:35Speaker 1: I'm glad y'all doing good because she anyway, But don't
- 49:38Speaker 1: put my daughter in the middle of man. Man, I'm
- 49:41Speaker 1: just happening to be in between jobs, that's all. Man. Well,
- 49:44Speaker 1: you need to get out your and look in between
- 49:46Speaker 1: your cheeks and go find you something. Find you a

- 51:55Speaker 1: this's his nephew Timing from the Steve Harton Marks and

- 52:05Speaker 1: Me from the Steve Harvey Morning Show. You just got

- 53:10Speaker 1: and more, please submit your Strawberry Letter to Steve Harvey
- 53:14Speaker 1: FM and click submit Strawberry Letter. We could be reading
- 53:18Speaker 1: your letter live on the air, just like we're gonna
- 53:20Speaker 1: read this one right now. Buggle up, hold on tight,
- 53:24Speaker 1: We got it for you. Here it is Strawberry Letter.
- 53:27Speaker 1: Subject is a good heart and good personality. Enough, here's
- 53:32Speaker 1: Stephen Shirley. I've been dating someone special for four months
- 53:36Speaker 1: and so far he is amazing. He loves the Lord
- 53:40Speaker 1: and he has a great personality and a great career.
- 53:43Speaker 1: When we first started dating, he did not want to
- 53:46Speaker 1: rush sex, so we waited a little beyond ninety days
- 53:50Speaker 1: to become lovers. Since things were going so great, I
- 53:54Speaker 1: took him to meet my parents. He fit in like
- 53:56Speaker 1: a glove and they both told me that he just
- 53:59Speaker 1: might be the one for me. The day after my
- 54:02Speaker 1: boyfriend met my parents, I told him that I would
- 54:05Speaker 1: love to meet his family next. He totally avoided the
- 54:08Speaker 1: conversation and started talking about the NBA games. I waited
- 54:13Speaker 1: and brought the subject back up later before we went
- 54:16Speaker 1: to bed. He dismissed me again by saying that he
- 54:20Speaker 1: does not deal with his family like that, so I
- 54:23Speaker 1: could stop pressing the issue. So here's my problem with
- 54:27Speaker 1: what he said. It's a lie. Surely. He talks to
- 54:32Speaker 1: his mom at least twice a week. He tuchs his
- 54:35Speaker 1: sister daily and shows me funny things she posts on
- 54:39Speaker 1: social media. He plays basketball at the gym with his
- 54:42Speaker 1: brothers at least once a week. His grandmother recently had surgery,
- 54:46Speaker 1: and he goes by her house every other day to
- 54:49Speaker 1: check on her and keep her company. By him not
- 54:51Speaker 1: wanting me to meet his family, I'm getting a bit
- 54:54Speaker 1: self conscious, like maybe I'm not the type of woman
- 54:57Speaker 1: that he would take home to his family. He always
- 55:00Speaker 1: says he is dating me for my heart and personality,
- 55:03Speaker 1: So does that mean I'm not pretty enough? To meet them.
- 55:06Speaker 1: I'm dealing with a lot of self doubt and I
- 55:11Speaker 1: feel like this might cause our breakup. How can I
- 55:14Speaker 1: let him know how I feel without nagging him? Please help?
- 55:19Speaker 1: All right? Well, first of all, you guys have only
- 55:22Speaker 1: been together for four months. I think it takes guys
- 55:25Speaker 1: a little longer than it does women to decide whether
- 55:29Speaker 1: or not to take you to their family. Four months
- 55:32Speaker 1: is not a lot of time there. But as far
- 55:35Speaker 1: as letting him know how you feel, just let him know.
- 55:38Speaker 1: Just because you tell a person how you feel doesn't
- 55:40Speaker 1: mean you're nagging him. It's going to be a discussion,
- 55:43Speaker 1: a conversation period. And it is a problem that he
- 55:47Speaker 1: lied to you about his family. I mean, it clearly
- 55:49Speaker 1: looks like he doesn't want you to meet them. I
- 55:52Speaker 1: mean he's either not ready and that could be the
- 55:55Speaker 1: case because you guys haven't been dating that long, only
- 55:58Speaker 1: four months, or he has no plans whatsoever to introduce you.
- 56:02Speaker 1: That could be the other thing. But the only way
- 56:04Speaker 1: you're going to find out is to actually have an
- 56:06Speaker 1: open conversation. I think you should leave it alone after
- 56:09Speaker 1: you tell him how you feel, and uh, you know,
- 56:12Speaker 1: he doesn't have to lie about it. I mean, I'm
- 56:15Speaker 1: sorry you feel like, you know, maybe your looks, but
- 56:18Speaker 1: if he specifically said he's dating you for your heart
- 56:22Speaker 1: and personality, there could be something to that. Hopefully we'll
- 56:26Speaker 1: all come out when you guys have your talk. Um,
- 56:29Speaker 1: but before um, you know, before I go and hand
- 56:33Speaker 1: it over to Steve, I really don't want you to
- 56:35Speaker 1: lose your self confidence and your self esteem. Here. You
- 56:40Speaker 1: you got. You gotta know that you are enough. And
- 56:47Speaker 1: please don't let anyone tell you any differently. Okay, all right,
- 56:50Speaker 1: come on, Steve. Anyone I'm seeing this letters started with
- 56:55Speaker 1: a lot of confidence and to win over. He just
- 56:58Speaker 1: started to peel it. It's not my job to hold
- 57:02Speaker 1: people together, you know. If you're falling aparty, hell, don't
- 57:06Speaker 1: write me. I don't know how to keep you from
- 57:09Speaker 1: falling apart. I just have to help you with the truth.
- 57:12Speaker 1: You're dating somebody special for four months. He's amazing. You
- 57:17Speaker 1: know what makes him love amazing everybody? He loves the Lord.
- 57:22Speaker 1: He's got a great personality and a great career. When
- 57:25Speaker 1: we first started dating, he didn't even want to rush sex.
- 57:29Speaker 1: I want you to underline this word. He did not
- 57:33Speaker 1: want to rush sex. As the first clue in this
- 57:41Speaker 1: letter right there. So we waited a little bit beyond
- 57:45Speaker 1: ninety days. I'll be down past. We don't win down
- 57:54Speaker 1: the ninety day ruse hell Way with Steve, I need
- 57:56Speaker 1: more time. This was him. Things was going so great.
- 58:01Speaker 1: I took him to meet my parents. He fit in
- 58:03Speaker 1: like a glove and they both told me he just
- 58:07Speaker 1: might be the one. He said, just me, the one
- 58:10Speaker 1: for me. The day after my boyfriend met my parents,
- 58:13Speaker 1: I told him I would love to meet his family next.
- 58:16Speaker 1: If arted the conversation talking about the NBA. Wow, who
- 58:20Speaker 1: was gonna get drafted? What happened to Houston? Come? Lebron
- 58:26Speaker 1: went to Cleveland? And then you thought you brought the
- 58:31Speaker 1: subject back up before we went to bed, he dismissed
- 58:35Speaker 1: me again by saying that he don't deal with his
- 58:37Speaker 1: family like that. Wow, So I could stop pressing issue.
- 58:41Speaker 1: So here my problem with what he's saying. It's a lie. Shirley.
- 58:45Speaker 1: See now she's not talking to me anymore because she
- 58:48Speaker 1: already know why I didn't did already. So so here's
- 58:51Speaker 1: my problem with what he said. It's a lie Shirley,
- 58:56Speaker 1: because she knows Shirley gonna side with her about this guy.
- 59:00Speaker 1: Don't ask Steve, because Steves through this already. He talks
- 59:04Speaker 1: to his mom and leaves twice a week. He texts
- 59:06Speaker 1: his sister daily and he shows me funny things she
- 59:09Speaker 1: posts on social media. He played basketball at the Damn
- 59:11Speaker 1: Jim with his brother Lease once a week. His grandmother
- 59:14Speaker 1: recently had surgery, and he go by her house every
- 59:17Speaker 1: other day check on her and keep her coming by
- 59:20Speaker 1: him not wanting me to meet his family. I'm getting
- 59:23Speaker 1: a bit self conscious, like maybe I'm not the type
- 59:26Speaker 1: of woman he would take home to his family. He

- 1:00:11Speaker 1: He ain't he want to rush set, so they waited
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: beyond ninety days. Damn, you told us to write that down.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: That was his idea he needed because you're trying to
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: work all this out in his head, I'm gonna do this,
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: and he felt the pressure. When the ninety days was up.
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: He saw my book sitting on your coffee expects something.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: I know. She first chance at see how long I
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: can play this? Then you wouldn't met his parents, boyfriend,
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: you took meet your parents. They said that he could
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: be the one they shot though that's not in the letter,
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: but they was. When you came in the house with him,
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: they were surprised. They were surprised. Now he was see
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: they they they was pretty surprised. He fitted in like
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: a glove and he told me he might just be
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: the one. They were surprised, though. Then the dad to that.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: You told him you want to meet the family. He
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: changed the sibly bought off basketball, and then before you
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: went to bed, you asked him again, and then he
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: told you that he closed his family like that, and
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: then you said, well that's her lost, Shirley. He talked
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: to his mom at least twice a week with me.
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: He texts his sister Daly showed me funny things she pulled,
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: and he played bastball the gym with his brothers once
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: a week. His grandmama got seinging. He go bout every
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: day checking on him, but him not wanting me to
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: meet his family. I'm getting a bit self conscious. Here
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: we go. This is what this letter is all about, Like,
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: maybe I'm not the type of woman that he would
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: take home to his family. Now when she came to
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: the conclusion, this is ye saying I'm not the type
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: of woman that he would take home to his family.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: He always says he's dating me for my heart and personality.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: So does that mean I'm not pretty enough to meet them? Well,
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: he says he's dating me for my heart and personality,
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: and you can't see either one of him. Most dems
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: invisible you can't see. So does that mean that I'm
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: not pretty enough to meet them? Well, let's go back
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: all the way back to the top of this letter.
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: When he first started dating he did not want to
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: rush sex. What man, you know to get to the
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: promise lan as soon as he can. That was your
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: first clue to maybe he had to work his nerves.
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: Then he waited a little bit beyond ninety days. That's
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: just going too damn farther. Then, when you took him
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: to meet this patty, he met them and saw what
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: they looked like when he decided this ain't work. He
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: saw yo mother and father. This is what she said.
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: This high went, I'm what y'all listen to port Because
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: his name is Jerome, Mama, daddy, this JERNI did your
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: own hege Jerome. This was Drone's reaction. What hage your room?
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: Hage Jerome? Jerome gasped, He gasped, because your parents, your
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: mama and your he went, damn, Lord, have messed does
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: and sheeping to get cute in this house? Look at
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: her mama and daddy. So now let's go back to
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: the letter. By them not wanting me to meet his family,
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: I'm getting a bit self conscious, like maybe I'm not
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: the type of woman that he would take home to
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: his family. He always says he's dating me for my heart,
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: So does that mean I'm not pretty enough to meet him?
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: I'm dealing with a lot of self doubt. Ain't you ship?
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: And I feel like this might cause I break up.
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: Y'all already broke he broke up with you when he
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: saw you. How can I let him know how I feel?
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: I ain't got to tell him how you feel. He
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: knows how you feel. That's why I love you for
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: your heart and your personality, because you're so strong to
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: keep waking up looking like this, and he admires your
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: heart and personality. But now he even met your mom
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: and daddy. Know this ain't fnna get better. This's fnna
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: get worse. He's ain't that you and a sad thing
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: about you. I ain't even gonna lie to you. Probably
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: look like your dad, and which is messing him up
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: even more because you know your mama. Your mama had
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: a chance with him. But when you walked in, you
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: and your daddy, you look like you dad. All right, listen,
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: uh you can email us your Instagram us your thought.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: Coming up at forty six after the hour I told
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: you he was dating you for your heart and personality.
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: I think we're gonna go ahead and do part three
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: of today's Part three for me, subject is a good
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: heart and a good personality enough apparently not, according to
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: mister Harvey. We'll get back into it right after this
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: Part three coming up. You're listening to Steve Morning Show
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: all right, Steve, We're gonna do a part three of
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: today's robbery letter. The subject is a good heart and
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: good personality enough. A young lady wrote in She's been
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: dating a guy for four months so far. He's amazing,
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: he loves the Lord, great personality, great career. She took
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: him to meet her parents. He fit right in. Her
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: parents told her he might be the one for her.
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: So she in turn told him, well, now I think
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: it's time for me to meet your parents. Oh look
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: the situation. He changed the subjects started talking about the NBA.
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: You take it from there, Steve Grohead. And then before
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: they went to bed, she thought she'd bringing up again,
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: why can't I meet your parents? So then he turned
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: to let her down easy. He said, look, me and
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: my family wing close like that. Then she told Shirley, Shirley,
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: that's a lie. That is a lie, Shirley. He talks
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: to his MoMA twice a week. He texts his sisters
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: every day. He showed me to day post on social media.
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: He played basketball at gym with his brothers Lee once
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: a week. His grandmama got sick head. Certainly, he go
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: about the house up day check. He lying to me Shuh.
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: He close to his family, but not want me to
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: meet his family. I'm getting a little bit self conscious,
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: like maybe I'm not the type of woman that he
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: would take home to his family. You already know that
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: you're the one bought it up. I wasn't gonna say
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: nothing about the letter, but jin you said, I'm not
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: the type. He always says he's dating me for my
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: heart and personality. That's what he told you. He ain't
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: saying you're danking you for your looks. He loves your
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: heart and your personality. Now you're gonna have to just
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: trust in that, because that's he ain't giving you nothing else.
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: He's not in it for your looks. He's in it.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: You're dating you because of your heart and your personality,
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: and you're probably pretty good. I'm just saying, yeah, he
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: never said it. She never said he told her that
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: she was beautiful or anything that. Well. You know, let
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: me explain something. If you never heard a person tell
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: you in your life you're beautiful, it's probably because you're
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: not well. She didn't say that in the letters, Steve. Huh,
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: she didn't say that in the letter. Oh, it's all
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: in this one. In this damn Steve. He always says
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: he's dating me for my heart and personality. That means
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: you're not acute. You ain't cute? So does that mean
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: I'm not pretty enough to meet them? Are you pretty
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: enough to meet him? But he's not gonna introduce you
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: as his woman? Oh that's all you can go. You
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: can meet him anytime, but just don't tell him y'all
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: been together, you've been seeing you better? See How can
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: I let him know how I feel? Just walk around
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: and know what you love and tell him, Hey, all right,
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: I'm not feeling this. Hell all right? Look, could we
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: all right listen? We gotta get out of here. Email

- 1:09:55Speaker 1: who's been there? Still in there? You know? All I
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: said was, you know, if I ever meet Beyonce? Right well,
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: she knew the rest of the statement, but I meant
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: it that if I met Beyonce, hey, you know she
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: allowed me to date husband. You ain't. That's all I see.

- 1:11:22Speaker 1: I just said, you know, when my mama baked, she
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: baked a different got do it? Yeah? Yeah? And when
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: you talk about cooking and stuff like that, you don't
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: look over here at me. Okay, everybody glanced everybody whenever
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: it's food, we always look at you. I don't know why.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: I mean a little simple things and started, you know
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: like it. All I said was if we weren't together,
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: x y Z one of your girlfriends, who did I
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: get with? You know that's all together? Yeah, if we

- 1:12:42Speaker 1: I tell you want to maybe made I had to
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: give my car key. I walked in the room one time,
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: she laying down on the bed trying to put the

- 1:12:51Speaker 1: it now. Yeah, ah, yes, we walk We walked to
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: this restaurant one time. All I said, me and my

- 1:14:33Speaker 1: it all on my Facebook page that he had finally
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: put a ring on it. A few days later. My
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: man said. He said he felt rushed and called the

- 1:19:26Speaker 1: But before we get out of here, Steve, you're going
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: to leave us with some enlightening closing remarks. Well, you know,
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: my remarks today are just a reminder, as I have
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: to remind myself that the thing that you do have
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: full of complete control over is your mind. We've all
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: got to understand that part of it. Yeah, See, we've
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: all got to understand that part of it that you
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: have a say so in this matter and in this
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: coming year. What I'm trying to get everybody to just
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: be a constant reminder to you that you've got to
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: stay upbeat. You've got to stay appreciative and grateful and
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: thankful even in the midst of difficulties. See that's a
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: hard part. But but what will help you through the
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: difficulties is the realizing that you have recovered and gotten
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: through so many other previous challenges and disappointments and difficulties.
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: So in that what I try to do, and I'm
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: not always successful to everybody. I want you to understand
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: that I wish I had it mastered. But what I
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: try to do as often as I can is stay
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: in the positive light. I try to look at everything
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: that's happened to me with a beacon of light shining
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: on it, even when it looks dark, because the only
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: way out of darkness is with light. You can't come
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: bat dark with more dark. So here it is when
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: haters attack you this year, if you are attacked them
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: back with hate, it becomes a spin cycle. Now you
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: are now involved in the cycle of hate. And so
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: now when you cast hate to them, they're gonna recast
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: it on you. Then somebody else that know them starts
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: hating on you, and somebody to know you start hating
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: on them, and now y'all in a vicious spin cycle,
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: and the hatred has turned into a bigger ball than
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: it actually is. When what could have stopped this whole
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: thing would have been when you were first hit with
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: the darkness, when you were first hit with the untrue rumor,
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: when you first came under attack, if you didn't swing
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: back hard to have a one man fight. If only
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: you had not swung back, the fight wouldn't have grew
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: into what it is today. And it's hard to do that. Man.
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: Do I understand that? Yeah, it's hard to do. Am
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: I human being? Yes? I am. Do I face times
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: when I want to do something different, Yes I do do.
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: Sometimes I end up doing something different regrettably, Yes I do.
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: But the times when I do get it right, the
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: times when I do manage to hold my peace, the
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: times when I do manage to hold my tongue, the
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: times that I do manage to bite down and grit
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: it and just take it, it ends far quicker and
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: I don't give it legs. Don't give people gasoline to
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: throw on the fire they're trying to start at Joe.
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: How I just try not to provide you the gasoline,
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: the starter fluid. I just try not to. Now that's hard,
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: but I'm telling you, man, and it's so much energy
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: that you have to give to deal with haters. You
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: gotta muster it up every time you see them. You
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: gotta respond every time you see a post. You gotta
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: comment on every comment. Na man, No stop feeling though,
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: is you got to comment on every time somebody say
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: something bad about you, are negative about you. They don't
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: know you. They have no idea who you really are.
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: They don't And because they'd lied on you, nothing they
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: can say gonna make it true. That's one of the
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: ones I had to learn, y'all, that just because a
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: person lies on you, it's not gonna make it true
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: you lied. I don't have to buy into that. And
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: so now, man, I've just learned, and I'm trying to
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: get better and better. But I invite all of you
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: to move yourself forward with the right attitude. Don't stay
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: on the wall. Listen to me. Stay on the wall,
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: don't get off the wall. Addressing stuff that you ain't
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: got time for. And if you can forgive a person,
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: if you can forgive a person, do that. It's in
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: your best interests because we remember, forgiveness is not for
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: the other person. Forgiveness is for you. It's so you
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: don't have to react every time you see them. It's
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: so you don't have to feel some kind of way
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: sitting by yourself. It's so you don't have to keep
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: rehashard it in your mind. I forgive you, not forgiving
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: a person. And I've said this a hundred times before
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: on this show. Not forgiving a person. It's like you,
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: drinking the poison, waiting on them to die. Bishop Jake's
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: taught me that I will never forget it. Y'all. Stop
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: drinking the poison. You better than that. Don't deal with
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: the haters. You better than that. Fix your attitude. If
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: you change your attitude, you change your altitude. Y'all have
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: a great weekend. I'm so happy that this Mike for all.
