NEJM June 2026 Phase 3 Results of Bepirovirsen Treatment for Chronic Hepatitis B Virus Infection.
This clinical report evaluates the efficacy of bepirovirsen, an innovative antisense oligonucleotide designed to achieve a functional cure for chronic hepatitis B by suppressing viral markers for an extended period. Through two large-scale phase 3 trials, researchers demonstrated that a fixed-duration regimen significantly outperformed a placebo in clearing the virus and allowing patients to safely discontinue traditional therapies.
