- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome in his verdict with Center Ted Cruz.
- 0:03Speaker 2: So nice to have you with us, many of you
- 0:05Speaker 2: listening on the radio across the country. And it was well,
- 0:08Speaker 2: one interesting week. I guess that's the best way you
- 0:11Speaker 2: can put it. The sausage truly being made for all
- 0:14Speaker 2: the American people to see. With the longest government shut
- 0:17Speaker 2: down in history finally over, Senator, your reaction to that.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Well, hallelujah, hallelujah. After forty three days of the government
- 0:28Speaker 3: being shut down, forty three days of the Schumer shutdown
- 0:32Speaker 3: where federal employees didn't get their paychecks and yet thousands
- 0:36Speaker 3: went into work, forty three days of parks being closed,
- 0:40Speaker 3: museums being closed, government services being highly limited, Forty three
- 0:45Speaker 3: days of delays in the airports, of air traffic controllers
- 0:49Speaker 3: not being paid, TSA agents not being paid, flights being canceled,
- 0:54Speaker 3: all because the Democrats were throwing a gigantic temper tantrum
- 0:59Speaker 3: because Chuck sh Humor has a political crisis, and this
- 1:02Speaker 3: shut down. The Democrats got nothing. But the purpose was
- 1:07Speaker 3: not to actually get a concession. The purpose was simply
- 1:11Speaker 3: to inflict a whole lot of pain on the American
- 1:14Speaker 3: people to demonstrate that man O man Schumer and the
- 1:18Speaker 3: Democrats hate Donald Trump, and they hate Donald Trump so
- 1:21Speaker 3: much they're willing to hurt their own constituents. President Trump
- 1:27Speaker 3: Wednesday evening signed the legislation. We passed it out of
- 1:31Speaker 3: the Senate Monday night. The House came back on Wednesday,
- 1:36Speaker 3: they voted on Wednesday, they passed the legislation that we
- 1:39Speaker 3: had passed, and President Trump signed it into law. Listen
- 1:42Speaker 3: to him as he's signing the legislation reopening the government
- 1:45Speaker 3: Wednesday night.
- 1:46Speaker 4: But with all of that, I just want to tell
- 1:48Speaker 4: you the country has never been in better shape. We
- 1:51Speaker 4: went through this short term disaster with the Democrats because
- 1:55Speaker 4: they thought it would be good politically, and it's an
- 1:58Speaker 4: honor now to sign incredible bill and get our country
- 2:03Speaker 4: working again.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Thank you, Sarah.
- 2:35Speaker 2: You can hear Republicans they are cheering in the Oval Office.
- 2:38Speaker 2: It's not every day you actually hear real cheering like
- 2:40Speaker 2: that in the Oval Office. It it's a little more
- 2:42Speaker 2: formal usually. Obviously, Republicans surrounding the present they were happy
- 2:47Speaker 2: this is finally older over and the American people aren't
- 2:50Speaker 2: being held hostage anymore.
- 2:51Speaker 3: Yeah. Look, the Democrats, they inflicted pain on millions of Americans.
- 2:58Speaker 3: They also wasted billions of dollars of taxpayer money. Just
- 3:03Speaker 3: the thousands upon thousands of government workers who stayed home
- 3:06Speaker 3: for forty three days. They didn't go to work. They're
- 3:09Speaker 3: all going to get paid back pay now, So forty
- 3:12Speaker 3: three days. Now, for forty three days, they had the
- 3:14Speaker 3: challenge of not having a paycheck, not knowing how they'd
- 3:16Speaker 3: pay their mortgage, not knowing how they'd pay their rent.
- 3:19Speaker 3: But now they'll get paid for all those forty three days.
- 3:21Speaker 3: But you know what, the American people didn't get. They
- 3:23Speaker 3: didn't get any work from all the workers who stayed
- 3:25Speaker 3: home for over a month because Chuck Schumer and the
- 3:29Speaker 3: Democrats wanted to throw a tantrum. President Trump at the
- 3:33Speaker 3: signing ceremony, he described some of the real harms that
- 3:36Speaker 3: the Schumer shut down caused.
- 3:38Speaker 4: Here, give a listen the past seven weeks the Democrats
- 3:41Speaker 4: shut down as inflicted massive harm. They caused twenty thousand
- 3:47Speaker 4: flights to be canceled or delayed. They departed so many times,
- 3:51Speaker 4: so late, people were hurt so badly. Nobody's ever seen
- 3:56Speaker 4: anything like this one. This was a no brainer, This
- 3:59Speaker 4: was an easy extension. But they didn't want to do
- 4:02Speaker 4: it the easy way. They had to do it the
- 4:04Speaker 4: hard way. They looked very bad the Democrats do. They
- 4:07Speaker 4: deprived more than one million government workers from their paychecks
- 4:11Speaker 4: and cut off food stamp benefits of millions and millions
- 4:14Speaker 4: more Americans in need. They caused tens of thousands of
- 4:18Speaker 4: federal contractors and small businesses to go unpaid. And the
- 4:22Speaker 4: total effect of the damage their antics cause will take
- 4:26Speaker 4: weeks and probably months to really calculate accurately, including the
- 4:31Speaker 4: serious harm that they did to our economy and to
- 4:33Speaker 4: people and the families. So I just want to tell
- 4:37Speaker 4: the American people you should not forget this when we
- 4:40Speaker 4: come up to midterms and other things. Don't forget what
- 4:42Speaker 4: they've done to our country. You also want to call
- 4:46Speaker 4: for a termination to the filibuster so that this can
- 4:49Speaker 4: never happen again.
- 4:52Speaker 1: You know, Sara, this really was about inflicting pain.
- 4:55Speaker 2: I was on CNN the night to shut Down ended
- 4:58Speaker 2: as the present was talking this live, and it was
- 5:02Speaker 2: amazing to see the disconnect from so many of the
- 5:04Speaker 2: liberals on the show, and I'm like, what did you
- 5:06Speaker 2: guys get out of this? This was the same deal
- 5:10Speaker 2: that was on the table before the shutdown, So you
- 5:13Speaker 2: just wanted to try to score political points. You hate
- 5:16Speaker 2: Donald Trump so much that you just wanted to shut
- 5:18Speaker 2: on the government and see if you could bring his
- 5:20Speaker 2: approval writing down. You didn't give a damn about the
- 5:23Speaker 2: kids and their food because if you did, you would
- 5:25Speaker 2: have at least made sure that those on foodstamps would
- 5:27Speaker 2: have gotten those benefits. You didn't care about those waiting
- 5:30Speaker 2: on flights and having cancel flights and their lives being changed,
- 5:33Speaker 2: many of them going to things that are hard, like funerals,
- 5:35Speaker 2: are sick family members, Not everything's a vacation when you're
- 5:38Speaker 2: at the airport. You took countless hours out of our economy,
- 5:42Speaker 2: small businesses that were hurt. There's a long list of
- 5:44Speaker 2: people that were hurt during this. And this was all
- 5:46Speaker 2: just for one reason. They hated Donald Trump and they
- 5:49Speaker 2: didn't care who got hurt in the process.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Yeah. Look, the shutdown had real negative effects on the economy,
- 5:57Speaker 3: on the GDP, it had real negative effects on small businesses,
- 6:01Speaker 3: It had real negative effects on millions of ordinary Americans,
- 6:06Speaker 3: and all of that was inflicted to score political points
- 6:11Speaker 3: for the Democrats with a handful of really the crazies,
- 6:14Speaker 3: you know what's amazing. After forty three days, after the
- 6:18Speaker 3: longest government shut down in history, virtually every Democrat still
- 6:23Speaker 3: voted against reopening the government. So in the Senate the
- 6:27Speaker 3: vote was sixty to forty. Only eight Democrats voted to
- 6:33Speaker 3: reopen the government. Thirty nine Democrats voted to keep the
- 6:38Speaker 3: government closed. Chuck Schumer voted to keep the government closed.
- 6:42Speaker 3: Every potential presidential candidate on the Democrat side voted to
- 6:46Speaker 3: keep the government closed. So Cory Booker voted to keep
- 6:49Speaker 3: it closed. Abi Klobuchar voted to keep it closed. Kirsten
- 6:52Speaker 3: Jelibrand voted to keep it closed. Chris Murphy voted to
- 6:54Speaker 3: keep it closed. Bernie Sanders voted to keep it closed.
- 6:58Speaker 3: All of those are possible and even likely Democrat presidential candidates,
- 7:04Speaker 3: and they all voted to keep it closed. In the House,
- 7:07Speaker 3: the same thing was true, so the vote the vote
- 7:10Speaker 3: in the House. So the vote in the House was
- 7:14Speaker 3: two hundred and twenty two to two oh nine, but
- 7:17Speaker 3: of the two hundred and twenty two, only six were Democrats.
- 7:24Speaker 3: The six Democrats who voted to reopen the government in
- 7:26Speaker 3: the House were Adam Gray of California, Jared Golden of Maine,
- 7:31Speaker 3: Tom Susey of New York, Marie Glusen camp Perez of
- 7:36Speaker 3: Washington State, Don Davis of North Carolina, and Henry Quayar
- 7:40Speaker 3: of Texas. Other than that, every single Democrat in the
- 7:44Speaker 3: House voted keep the government shut, keep food stamps off,
- 7:49Speaker 3: keep pay stop, keep stop, don't pay air traffic controllers,
- 7:54Speaker 3: keep the delays, keep the cancelations. By the way, just
- 7:56Speaker 3: on flights, the FA said it was it was going
- 8:00Speaker 3: to reduce flights ten percent, but if the shutdown had continued,
- 8:05Speaker 3: the FA had already said it would phase into twenty
- 8:07Speaker 3: percent or more. And virtually every Democrat in boast chambers
- 8:11Speaker 3: said that sounds good by me. Let's keep this going.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Let's keep the shutdown, I suppose through Thanksgiving, through the
- 8:19Speaker 3: busiest travel time of the year. It is amazing. The
- 8:22Speaker 3: question you have to ask is who are the Democrats
- 8:26Speaker 3: listening to and who are they working for? Yep, because
- 8:30Speaker 3: I think it's obvious on the face of it, they're
- 8:32Speaker 3: not listening to the American people or working for the
- 8:35Speaker 3: American people. Instead, they're listening to their radical base, and
- 8:39Speaker 3: they're working for their radical base and frankly, their own
- 8:43Speaker 3: political self interest.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Sanata I want to get back into the shutdown aspect
- 8:47Speaker 2: of this for just a moment. There is one I
- 8:50Speaker 2: do think silver lining that's come out of this, and
- 8:53Speaker 2: that is one I think we now really know who
- 8:56Speaker 2: the Democratic Party is. Chuck Schumer is going to be
- 8:58Speaker 2: out of a job. He's not running for reelection. The
- 9:01Speaker 2: Democratic Party has gone full socialists or Marxist or communists,
- 9:05Speaker 2: depending on who you talk to. But it's very clear
- 9:08Speaker 2: there's an excommunication happening of the old establishment Democratic radicals,
- 9:13Speaker 2: that is Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer. So that's one
- 9:16Speaker 2: thing that I do think has comeing out of the
- 9:17Speaker 2: show down. The other part of this is there's a
- 9:20Speaker 2: lot of talk right now about Obamacare and the financial disaster.
- 9:24Speaker 2: That it is the Affordable Care Act, it's not affordable,
- 9:27Speaker 2: and that's a grand debate that's now happening in this country.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Kevin O'Leary, mister wonderful, you know him from Shark Tank,
- 9:33Speaker 2: we talked about this and he said this may be
- 9:35Speaker 2: the biggest thing Democrats didn't plan for, is that now
- 9:39Speaker 2: the spotlight is on Obamacare, the subseason, how unaffordable it is,
- 9:43Speaker 2: even though they said it was supposed to be a
- 9:44Speaker 2: great thing.
- 9:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I will say that there are a couple things.
- 9:48Speaker 3: You're right that Nancy Pelosi next year will be here
- 9:52Speaker 3: last year in Congress. I think Chuck Schumer. My prediction
- 9:56Speaker 3: is Chuck Schumer doesn't even run for reelection. I think
- 9:59Speaker 3: he is not electable in a Democrat primary in the
- 10:02Speaker 3: state of New York, although, although he's tenacious, he may
- 10:06Speaker 3: well try. But it wouldn't surprise me at all to
- 10:08Speaker 3: see Schumer announce his retirement at the end of his term.
- 10:11Speaker 3: But look, one of the infuriating things of realizing that
- 10:15Speaker 3: virtually every Democrat, even after forty three days, voted to
- 10:20Speaker 3: keep the government shut down. We're going to replay this
- 10:23Speaker 3: whole thing like Groundhog Day on January thirtieth, because the
- 10:27Speaker 3: continuing Resolution that President Trump just signed expires January thirtieth.
- 10:32Speaker 3: So we'll get through Thanksgiving, we'll get through Christmas, we'll
- 10:35Speaker 3: come back January. And I think there's a very real
- 10:37Speaker 3: possibility that Democrats try this again, maybe not maybe the
- 10:40Speaker 3: same eight who ultimately said okay, reopen the government. Maybe
- 10:45Speaker 3: they'll say we don't want to do this again, and
- 10:47Speaker 3: maybe they'll start right at the beginning by agreeing to
- 10:50Speaker 3: fund the government. We'll see where things are. And I
- 10:53Speaker 3: think the answer to that depends on what you just raised, Ben,
- 10:56Speaker 3: what happens with Obamacare and healthcare. And listen, they claimed
- 11:02Speaker 3: every day of this forty three day shutdown that they
- 11:04Speaker 3: had to have major concessions on Obamacare to save that
- 11:08Speaker 3: that failing government health program. Well they didn't get those
- 11:12Speaker 3: major concessions. They got nothing whatsoever. The government's now open.
- 11:16Speaker 3: But but listen to what President Trump said when he
- 11:19Speaker 3: signed the legislation opening the government, because he talked about
- 11:22Speaker 3: Obamacare and what's going to happen next, Give a listen.
- 11:25Speaker 4: So I'm always willing to work with anyone, including the
- 11:28Speaker 4: other party. We'll work on something having to do with healthcare.
- 11:31Speaker 4: We can do a lot better, we can do great.
- 11:34Speaker 4: So much money is involved, and we're willing to pay
- 11:37Speaker 4: so much money to the people. So we're going to
- 11:39Speaker 4: pay a lot of money to the people. They're going
- 11:41Speaker 4: to go out and buy their own healthcare, and we're
- 11:44Speaker 4: going to forget this Obamacare madness.
- 11:47Speaker 1: You hear him talking about madness. He's not wrong.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Even liberals are saying, well, we know that premiums have
- 11:53Speaker 2: gone up two hundred three hundred percent with Obamacare. So
- 11:58Speaker 2: that's why we need the subseus. That is the definition
- 12:01Speaker 2: center of a disaster. It is it is insolvent.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Look, that was the predictable result of Obamacare. That's what
- 12:10Speaker 3: I and the other critics of Obamacare said, what happened.
- 12:13Speaker 3: It's exactly what's happened. Even the Washington Post admits the
- 12:16Speaker 3: so called Affordable Care Act is not affordable. And that
- 12:21Speaker 3: was the Democrats solution to that is give fifty billion
- 12:26Speaker 3: dollars in subsidies from the taxpayer straight to giant health
- 12:30Speaker 3: insurance corporations. It's just corporate welfare. And mind you, these
- 12:34Speaker 3: health insurance corporations, their stock prices have increased, in some
- 12:39Speaker 3: instances more than one thousand percent since Obamacare was signed
- 12:43Speaker 3: into law. The executives that are running these companies are
- 12:46Speaker 3: making tens of millions of dollars in salary. Their stock
- 12:50Speaker 3: has increased, presumably if they had stock that whole time.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Their stock has increased in hundreds of percents, if not
- 12:57Speaker 3: more than one thousand percent. And the Demo, I mean,
- 13:00Speaker 3: they're craven. By the way, virtually all of the political
- 13:04Speaker 3: contributions from the health insurance companies go to Democrats. So
- 13:07Speaker 3: the Democrats are delivering fifty billion dollars of cash to
- 13:10Speaker 3: their political donors. And what President Trump said said there
- 13:13Speaker 3: is really important, and we talked about this on Wednesday's podcast.
- 13:18Speaker 3: During the shutdown, I hosted a dozen senators for dinner
- 13:21Speaker 3: Friday night, and we got the President on the phone
- 13:24Speaker 3: and we asked the President if he would engage and
- 13:27Speaker 3: help make the argument that their demands for fifty billion
- 13:30Speaker 3: dollars for health insurance companies were unreasonable and a bad idea.
- 13:34Speaker 3: And he sent out a series of tweets which which
- 13:37Speaker 3: I helped him write, that said, We're not going to
- 13:40Speaker 3: give this money for the Obamacare scam to health insurance companies. Instead,
- 13:46Speaker 3: the money ought to flow to individuals, to real people
- 13:50Speaker 3: in health savings accounts that you control, that you own,
- 13:54Speaker 3: that you're the one making the choice of how to
- 13:57Speaker 3: spend money on your healthcare. That is a fundamental reform
- 14:01Speaker 3: and healthcare that will lower prices, lower costs, that actually
- 14:05Speaker 3: will help keep things affordable. And I think we have
- 14:08Speaker 3: an opportunity to really increase competition, increase consumer choice, and
- 14:15Speaker 3: put consumers in a significantly better situation. Now, there are
- 14:19Speaker 3: two ways that could happen one. We could see eight, nine,
- 14:26Speaker 3: ten reasonable Democrats willing to work with Republicans on something
- 14:30Speaker 3: that does that, and we could have legislation that gets
- 14:33Speaker 3: sixty votes, because to do that through ordinary, ordinary procedures
- 14:37Speaker 3: takes sixty votes, just like it takes sixty votes to
- 14:40Speaker 3: fund the government. I think that's unlikely, although I'm sure
- 14:44Speaker 3: in the next month there will be some Republicans who try.
- 14:48Speaker 3: If the Democrats are not willing to do that. The
- 14:51Speaker 3: other avenue we have to address this problem is reconciliation,
- 14:55Speaker 3: and we can take up another budget reconciliation that only
- 14:58Speaker 3: takes fifty votes. And it may well be that we
- 15:01Speaker 3: have to do a budget reconciliation, which is how we
- 15:03Speaker 3: pass the one big beautiful bill this summer to fix
- 15:08Speaker 3: Obamacare and effectively to repeal the mess that is Obamacare
- 15:12Speaker 3: and instead expand consumer choice and and enhance affordability, and
- 15:19Speaker 3: and give people access to health savings accounts where the
- 15:23Speaker 3: money that would have gone to enrich the health insurance
- 15:26Speaker 3: companies instead is going to you the patient, you the consumer.
- 15:30Speaker 3: And if we can do that on reconciliation, that that
- 15:34Speaker 3: would be a major victory for our constituents. It's actually
- 15:38Speaker 3: why I think the Democrats are not going to have
- 15:40Speaker 3: any interested in doing it. They're much more interested in
- 15:43Speaker 3: taking care of their fat cat political donors than they
- 15:46Speaker 3: are actually in making healthcare affordable for real people are struggling. Remember,
- 15:51Speaker 3: these are the same people that were happy to see
- 15:53Speaker 3: food steps shut down because it was more important to
- 15:57Speaker 3: them to make a political point to their activists than
- 15:59Speaker 3: to help people who were in need of food to
- 16:03Speaker 3: actually get the food they needed. And so I think
- 16:05Speaker 3: when it comes to healthcare, my prediction is we'll have
- 16:08Speaker 3: to do it on reconciliation because I think the Democrats
- 16:12Speaker 3: will not be willing to do anything reasonable. But we'll
- 16:15Speaker 3: see in the next couple of months.
- 16:16Speaker 2: I want to talk to you real quick about our
- 16:18Speaker 2: amazing sponsor, and it is Patriot Mobile. I just went
- 16:22Speaker 2: to Israel and people ask me all the time how
- 16:24Speaker 2: good is the coverage because you want to stay with
- 16:26Speaker 2: the big mobile companies. I've been saying now for years,
- 16:29Speaker 2: and they've been in business for well over a decade,
- 16:32Speaker 2: that it is amazing coverage. If you've got coverage right now,
- 16:35Speaker 2: you love You're going to love your coverage of Patriot
- 16:37Speaker 2: Mobile even more. But you get rid of the woke
- 16:39Speaker 2: left Agenda. I am proud to report to you that
- 16:42Speaker 2: my phone worked in Israel. I traveled internationally and had
- 16:47Speaker 2: zero issues with my sales service. Whether I was in Bethlehem.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Are literally calling from gaza at the Gaza Strip. This
- 16:54Speaker 2: is not a joke. I had amazing coverage everywhere that
- 16:59Speaker 2: I went. I flew back to the US, my phone
- 17:01Speaker 2: worked perfectly, my emails, all the data I was posting
- 17:04Speaker 2: on social media from my phone Tel Aviv last night.
- 17:07Speaker 2: It was phenomenal. So if you're worried about coverage, don't be.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Now why should you switch to Patriot Mobile? Not only
- 17:14Speaker 2: are probably gonna save real money every month, but then
- 17:17Speaker 2: the magic happens. A portion of your bill every month
- 17:20Speaker 2: goes back to support conservative causes, candidates, organizations. It fight
- 17:25Speaker 2: for our First and our Second Amendment rights, the rights
- 17:27Speaker 2: of unborn children, and they do something that's really special.
- 17:30Speaker 2: They stand with our men and women in uniform, whether
- 17:33Speaker 2: it's police officers or law law enforcement in general, or
- 17:36Speaker 2: our men and women that fight for this country overseas.
- 17:40Speaker 2: They stand with our wounded warriors and our fallen families
- 17:43Speaker 2: who've lost a loved one. So that there is the
- 17:45Speaker 2: financial need and aid that is needed. So that's why
- 17:48Speaker 2: I want you to switch to Patriot Mobile, because every
- 17:50Speaker 2: time you pay that bill, you're making a real difference. Now,
- 17:53Speaker 2: I also want to give you a free month of service.

- 18:10Speaker 2: com slash verdict or nine to seven to Patriot and
- 18:13Speaker 2: get a free month of service with a promo code
- 18:15Speaker 2: Verdict Cenator. One of the reasons why you do this
- 18:18Speaker 2: show and why I love co hosting it with you,
- 18:20Speaker 2: is we get to talk about issues that are not
- 18:23Speaker 2: getting the attention they deserve. One of those right now
- 18:27Speaker 2: is the persecution of Christians and Nigeria. It is shocking
- 18:32Speaker 2: what is happening there. And I just came back from Israel.
- 18:35Speaker 2: We haven't got to talk about that as much as
- 18:37Speaker 2: we thought because the government shut down, and we're gonna
- 18:39Speaker 2: get to that. But one of the things that you
- 18:40Speaker 2: see when you see that people are under attacked because
- 18:43Speaker 2: their faith and I witnessed it going into the kibbutz
- 18:46Speaker 2: into the homes of those that were killed, including that
- 18:49Speaker 2: nine month old child. When I met with the parents
- 18:52Speaker 2: who lost their loved ones on that soccer fill as
- 18:53Speaker 2: their kids were just playing soccer. When I went to
- 18:56Speaker 2: the North and I saw the homes that were destroyed
- 18:59Speaker 2: and met with people whose lives are destroyed by Hamas
- 19:02Speaker 2: there and you witness this type of persecution and death
- 19:07Speaker 2: and destruction, and went to the site where the music
- 19:09Speaker 2: festival was and watch people die just because.
- 19:11Speaker 1: They were Jews.
- 19:12Speaker 2: It makes me angry to now see what's happening in Nigeria.
- 19:17Speaker 1: You're shining a lot on that.
- 19:18Speaker 2: The White House is doing that as well, and the
- 19:21Speaker 2: American people need to know what's going on.
- 19:23Speaker 3: Yeah, listen, Radical Islamic terrorists, they hate Christians and they
- 19:28Speaker 3: hate Jews, and they have murdered vast numbers of Christians,
- 19:32Speaker 3: They have murdered vast number of Jews. They continue to
- 19:35Speaker 3: do so, and they also murder a significant number of Muslims.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Radical Islamic terrorists if you don't embrace their radical jihadist view,
- 19:43Speaker 3: their ideology justifies violence or even murder to force you
- 19:49Speaker 3: to submit. And the thirteen years I've been in the Senate,
- 19:52Speaker 3: I've spent a lot of time fighting for persecuted Christians,
- 19:55Speaker 3: fighting for persecuted Christians all across the globe, especially those
- 20:00Speaker 3: being persecuted by radical Islamic terrorists. Boko Haram, that is
- 20:03Speaker 3: in Nigeria, is a vicious radical Islamic terrorist group. And
- 20:09Speaker 3: if you look at there is no country on planet
- 20:11Speaker 3: Earth where more Christians have been murdered in the last
- 20:16Speaker 3: twenty years than Nigeria. Since two thousand and nine, more
- 20:21Speaker 3: than fifty thousand Christians have been murdered in the country
- 20:24Speaker 3: of Nigeria.
- 20:26Speaker 1: I mean literally, these Christians are being hunted down.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Yeah, they absolutely are. Over twenty thousand Christian churches and
- 20:34Speaker 3: schools have been burned to the ground or otherwise destroyed.
- 20:38Speaker 3: I mean, this has been mass murder and it is horrific.
- 20:42Speaker 3: And so I filed legislation in the Senate to direct
- 20:46Speaker 3: the administration to designate Nigeria Country of Particular Concern and
- 20:51Speaker 3: to impose in particular sanctions on the government officials, because
- 20:54Speaker 3: there are many government officials who are acquiescing in this
- 20:58Speaker 3: mass murder against Christians, and and and so my legislation
- 21:02Speaker 3: would would impose sanctions on particular government officials that there
- 21:06Speaker 3: are twelve states in the North where Sharia laws or
- 21:10Speaker 3: blasphemy laws are enforced. There's also federal Sharia and blasphemy
- 21:14Speaker 3: laws that are enforced, and the government officials use those
- 21:18Speaker 3: laws to discriminate against and to persecute Christians. In some instances,
- 21:23Speaker 3: they simply just turn a blind eye, as as Bokoharram
- 21:26Speaker 3: and other radical Islamic terrorists murder Christians. In other instances,
- 21:30Speaker 3: they actually used the law to facilitate the persecution. But
- 21:35Speaker 3: after I filed the legislation, and and and I began
- 21:38Speaker 3: pressing the administration to designate Nigeria as a country a
- 21:42Speaker 3: particular concern, President Trump did so, and he sent out
- 21:46Speaker 3: a tweet. Here's what his tweet says. It says Christianity
- 21:49Speaker 3: is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians
- 21:53Speaker 3: are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter.
- 21:58Speaker 3: I am hereby making Nigeria a country of particular concern,
- 22:03Speaker 3: but that is the least of it. When Christians or
- 22:06Speaker 3: any such group is slaughtered like is happening in Nigeria.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Thirty one hundred versus four four hundred and seventy six worldwide.
- 22:15Speaker 3: Something must be done. I am asking Congressman Riley Moore,
- 22:19Speaker 3: together with Chairman Tom Cole and the House Appropriations Committee,
- 22:23Speaker 3: to immediately look into this matter and report back to me.
- 22:26Speaker 3: The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities are
- 22:30Speaker 3: happening in Nigeria and numerous other countries. We stand ready,
- 22:35Speaker 3: willing and able to save our great Christian population around
- 22:39Speaker 3: the world. Donald J. Trump, President of the United States,
- 22:42Speaker 3: that was exactly the right thing to do. I saw
- 22:45Speaker 3: President Trump shortly after he issued that designation and I
- 22:50Speaker 3: thanked him. I said, it really makes a difference. It's
- 22:53Speaker 3: the right thing to do. He was happy to do it.
- 22:56Speaker 3: And I'll tell you the government in Nigeria is deeply
- 23:01Speaker 3: and their response, their main defense they say, well, they
- 23:05Speaker 3: argue it's not a genocide. And what they say is, well, yes,
- 23:09Speaker 3: fifty thousand Christians have been killed, but you know what,
- 23:12Speaker 3: Bukah Haram has also killed Muslims, so it's all fine. Well,
- 23:16Speaker 3: it is true they have killed Muslims. Nobody's disputing that
- 23:18Speaker 3: they've killed Muslims as well. But radical Islamic terrorists target
- 23:23Speaker 3: Christians in particular for persecution, and the government is complicit
- 23:28Speaker 3: in that persecution. That's what this is designed to address.
- 23:32Speaker 3: And and you know, I got to say, you and
- 23:36Speaker 3: I have talked about before that those who hate Jews
- 23:41Speaker 3: hate Christians, and those who hate Israel hate America. That
- 23:45Speaker 3: that is true. We've also talked about rising anti Semitism,
- 23:48Speaker 3: and we've talked quite a bit about Tucker Carlson because
- 23:51Speaker 3: I think Tucker has unfortunately gone down a very very
- 23:54Speaker 3: dark path, a path where he brings on Hitler, praising
- 23:58Speaker 3: nutjobs on to do show over and over and over again.
- 24:03Speaker 3: But it also results. Not only does he attack Israel
- 24:07Speaker 3: at almost every show he does, but when you go
- 24:11Speaker 3: on the path of hating Israel and blame everything on
- 24:15Speaker 3: the Jews, that often that same dark path leads you
- 24:20Speaker 3: to embrace the enemies of America. So Tucker has said
- 24:23Speaker 3: we should apologize to the family of Osama bin Laden. No, no,
- 24:27Speaker 3: we should not. Tucker has said he doesn't know that
- 24:30Speaker 3: Hamas is a terrorist organization. They might just be a
- 24:33Speaker 3: political group. I'm sorry, but when you murder twelve hundred
- 24:37Speaker 3: innocent civilians and rape women and children, you are most
- 24:40Speaker 3: definitely a terrorist group. And Hamas has killed a great
- 24:43Speaker 3: many Americans. But it really was striking. Just recently, Tucker
- 24:48Speaker 3: did a show where he talked about Nigerians and he
- 24:51Speaker 3: disputed that Christians in Nigeria are being persecuted. I want
- 24:54Speaker 3: you to give a listen because he took the chance
- 24:58Speaker 3: to basically defend Book Haram. Give a listen.
- 25:02Speaker 5: But he's all of a sudden, kind of out of nowhere,
- 25:04Speaker 5: deeply concerned about the play of Christians in Nigeria, which
- 25:06Speaker 5: I want to restate maybe a tolly bel concerning them.
- 25:09Speaker 5: But that's weird. What is that all of a sudden
- 25:11Speaker 5: everybody's concern about people who clearly have no track record
- 25:14Speaker 5: being interested in Chritians at all, including ce Cruz. What
- 25:16Speaker 5: is going on?
- 25:18Speaker 1: That to me was pretty unhinged.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Senator, Look, I gotta say, listen. I understand that Tucker's
- 25:25Speaker 3: told the world there's no one he hates more than
- 25:27Speaker 3: Christian Zionists, and he singled out me and Mike Huckabee
- 25:30Speaker 3: as the people he hates the most in the world.
- 25:33Speaker 3: But that's truly a bizarre claim. What he says there,
- 25:36Speaker 3: which is that I have no interest in defending persecuted Christians.
- 25:40Speaker 3: I've literally spent thirteen years doing that. You know, I
- 25:43Speaker 3: might ask Tucker that does he have any idea who
- 25:46Speaker 3: Miriam Ibrahim is? And I suspect he doesn't. So Mariam
- 25:49Speaker 3: Ibrahim was a Christian woman in Soudan and she was
- 25:54Speaker 3: imprisoned and she was sentenced to receive one hundred lashes
- 25:59Speaker 3: and then to by the neck until dead for the
- 26:02Speaker 3: crime of being a Christian. And this was during Barack
- 26:05Speaker 3: Obama's presidency. This was early in my time in the Senate.
- 26:08Speaker 3: And I spoke out vocally for Miriam Ibrahim. And she
- 26:13Speaker 3: had two little kids. She had a son named Martin,
- 26:16Speaker 3: and she actually gave birth to a daughter, Maya while
- 26:19Speaker 3: she was in leg irons. And I'll tell you, I repeatedly,
- 26:23Speaker 3: practically begged the Obama administration for President Obama to just
- 26:27Speaker 3: say her name. He would not do it. He never
- 26:29Speaker 3: once said her name. I went to the Senate floor,
- 26:32Speaker 3: I gave floor speeches. I shined a light, and globally
- 26:36Speaker 3: many the Pope got involved shining a light defending her,
- 26:39Speaker 3: and the pressure became so great Soudan released her. And Ben,
- 26:44Speaker 3: I'll tell you it's an amazing thing. I actually got
- 26:46Speaker 3: to meet Mariam Ibrahim when she came to Washington, and
- 26:50Speaker 3: I asked her. She was a little bitty woman. She's
- 26:52Speaker 3: not very very tall, maybe five to one. She couldn't
- 26:55Speaker 3: have weighed more than one hundred pounds. And I asked her,
- 26:58Speaker 3: I said, Mariam, tell me, when when you were in
- 27:01Speaker 3: that prison cell and your babies are in front of you,
- 27:04Speaker 3: and you've been sentenced to die for your faith, how
- 27:08Speaker 3: did you not give up hope? And she looked at
- 27:11Speaker 3: me with a peace that I'll never forget, and she
- 27:14Speaker 3: just said Jesus was with me. And I mean, it
- 27:18Speaker 3: was powerful, incredible. But I think this illustrates how anti
- 27:25Speaker 3: Semitism is a poison that ends up poisoning every other view.
- 27:29Speaker 3: So now Tucker is running around defending Hamas, defending Book
- 27:33Speaker 3: of Haram, saying, well, I don't know that Nigerians or
- 27:36Speaker 3: Christians are being killed in Nigeria, and why does anyone
- 27:39Speaker 3: care about that? And apparently Tucker is only interested in
- 27:43Speaker 3: atrocities if he can blame them on Israel, And since
- 27:46Speaker 3: it's not Israel that's killing Christians in Nigeria, it's not
- 27:49Speaker 3: a concern for him. Look, I think we should defend
- 27:53Speaker 3: Christians when they're being persecuted. I think we should defend
- 27:55Speaker 3: Jews when they're being persecuted. I think we should stand
- 27:59Speaker 3: up and and and and make a difference. Now that
- 28:02Speaker 3: doesn't mean that we invade every country in which there's injustice,
- 28:06Speaker 3: but it does mean we use our voice as a
- 28:11Speaker 3: voice to stand up for those. And Look, as you know,
- 28:14Speaker 3: my dad was imprisoned and tortured in Cuba, and so
- 28:18Speaker 3: I have a particular heart for for people who are
- 28:22Speaker 3: unjustly detained uh and and and have spent a long
- 28:26Speaker 3: time highlighting and and doing everything we can to get
- 28:31Speaker 3: people out of unjust attentions, whether in in Sudan or China,
- 28:35Speaker 3: or or or uh Lebanon or anywhere. And and and
- 28:42Speaker 3: I'm very glad President Trump is standing up for the
- 28:44Speaker 3: Christians in Nigeria.
- 28:46Speaker 2: I want to take a moment and just talk to
- 28:48Speaker 2: you real quick about an incredible opportunity for you to
- 28:51Speaker 2: continue to expand your mind and learn, no matter what
- 28:55Speaker 2: your age is. Senator Cruz and I were at the
- 28:58Speaker 2: memorial service for Charlie Kurr and one of the people
- 29:01Speaker 2: that spoke was the president of Hillsdale College, and he
- 29:04Speaker 2: talked about meeting with Charlie early on and how he said,
- 29:06Speaker 2: you're going to have to work hard. You're going to
- 29:10Speaker 2: have to suffer, and you're going to have to continue
- 29:13Speaker 2: to learn. When he was so young and he talked
- 29:15Speaker 2: about all of the classes that Charlie ended up taking
- 29:19Speaker 2: at Hillsdale, I immediately said, I want the listeners of
- 29:24Speaker 2: this show to be able to have the same opportunity
- 29:26Speaker 2: to do that. There are amazing classes history, economics, the
- 29:30Speaker 2: great works of literature, the meaning of the US Constitution.
- 29:34Speaker 1: And if you didn't say these.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Things in school, or maybe you did, but you were, like,
- 29:37Speaker 2: you know, just trying to check the box and make
- 29:39Speaker 2: the grade when you're twenty, now is a great time
- 29:41Speaker 2: for you to go back and learn so much more.
- 29:44Speaker 2: Hillsdale College is offering more than forty free I want
- 29:49Speaker 2: to say that again, forty free online courses. That's right,
- 29:53Speaker 2: more than forty free online courses. You can learn about
- 29:56Speaker 2: the works of C. S. Lewis, the stories in the
- 29:58Speaker 2: Book of Genesis, the meaning of the US Constitution. I'm
- 30:02Speaker 2: doing that when it's incredible, the rise and fall of
- 30:05Speaker 2: the Roman Republic, or the history of the ancient Christian Church.
- 30:08Speaker 2: With his college's free online courses. Now I'm also looking
- 30:12Speaker 2: at the Constitution one on one. It's amazing. I refresh
- 30:15Speaker 2: your course and you can see and explore the design,
- 30:19Speaker 2: the purpose of the Constitution, the challenges it faced in
- 30:22Speaker 2: the Civil War, and how it's been undermined for more
- 30:25Speaker 2: than a century by progressives and liberals. This twelve lecture
- 30:29Speaker 2: course is self paced, so you start whenever you want to,
- 30:34Speaker 2: and it is truly amazing.
- 30:36Speaker 1: So how do you do this?
- 30:38Speaker 2: You can go right now to Hillsdale dot edu slash
- 30:43Speaker 2: verdict to enroll. There is no cost and it's easy
- 30:48Speaker 2: to get started. That's Hillsdale dot edu slash verdict v
- 30:54Speaker 2: r diict to enroll for free and take any one
- 30:58Speaker 2: of these classes. Take advantage of it. It's free Hillsdale
- 31:02Speaker 2: dot edu slash v e r d I c t
- 31:05Speaker 2: verdict and go check out the amazing classes they have there.
- 31:09Speaker 2: All right, I want to end the show with talking
- 31:12Speaker 2: about something else that is really made me sad this week.
- 31:15Speaker 2: It's also I think, really telling you where we are
- 31:19Speaker 2: as a country with the radical left. We have seen
- 31:22Speaker 2: violent protesters at a Turning Point US USA event at
- 31:27Speaker 2: UC Berkeley. I wish it wasn't what we witnessed, but
- 31:32Speaker 2: it was radical leftists. I want to know who's funding them, Senator,
- 31:36Speaker 2: I want to know who's behind this, but it is
- 31:39Speaker 2: it is shocking to see this level of rhetoric and
- 31:43Speaker 2: attacks on conservatives who are just going to have a conversation.
- 31:48Speaker 2: And it's very eerily close to what we witnessed with
- 31:51Speaker 2: the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:53Speaker 3: Look, the pattern of left wing violence continues, and it
- 31:56Speaker 3: continues across the country, and it continues with the acquiescence
- 32:01Speaker 3: and support of of many on the far left, far
- 32:04Speaker 3: too many on the far left.
- 32:06Speaker 4: Uh.
- 32:06Speaker 3: This week, Turning Point USA had a rally at u
- 32:10Speaker 3: C Berkeley. Now, the speakers at the rally were doctor
- 32:14Speaker 3: Frank Turik, who's a Christian pastor, and Rob Schneider, who's
- 32:19Speaker 3: a comedian and actor. So it's it's not like either
- 32:22Speaker 3: of these speakers were particularly controversial in any normal or
- 32:26Speaker 3: sane place. But but UC Berkeley is not necessarily a
- 32:33Speaker 3: normal or sane place, and and Antifa targeted them, targeted
- 32:38Speaker 3: the people coming into the rally coming in to see
- 32:41Speaker 3: to to see listen to the speakers, and they were violent. Uh,
- 32:46Speaker 3: let me read how how how Fox covered it. A
- 32:50Speaker 3: bloody fight broke out near the University of California Berkeley
- 32:52Speaker 3: on Monday afternoon ahead of a Turning Point USA event
- 32:55Speaker 3: on campus. The event, which featured doctor Frank Turk and
- 32:58Speaker 3: Rob Schneider mark the end of this is Turning Point Tour.
- 33:03Speaker 3: It took place just two months after Turning Point USA's
- 33:05Speaker 3: founder Charlie Kirk was assassinated at a campus event in
- 33:09Speaker 3: Utah on September tenth. The confrontation erupted around four thirty
- 33:14Speaker 3: pm Pacific Standard time. During the brawl, two men were
- 33:17Speaker 3: seen fighting each other, one of whom had blood gushing
- 33:21Speaker 3: from his face, and you can watch the video. Video
- 33:25Speaker 3: taken by Fox News Digital also shows a crowd of
- 33:28Speaker 3: agitators gathered around the fight. These were left wing antifa activists.
- 33:39Speaker 3: They were chanting obscene chants that they were celebrating that
- 33:45Speaker 3: Charlie Kirk had been murdered. They were chanting how happy
- 33:49Speaker 3: they are about that. Most of them had masks. And
- 33:57Speaker 3: you can watch the video online of one of the
- 34:00Speaker 3: people coming to the Turning Point event who they beat
- 34:05Speaker 3: the hell out of him and his face is bleeding
- 34:07Speaker 3: profusely and they engaged in violence. And I'll tell you
- 34:11Speaker 3: what is frustrating is where was the administration of Berkeley
- 34:17Speaker 3: where was the police? Why are they allowing violent protesters?
- 34:21Speaker 3: And look, these are the same administrators. This is the
- 34:23Speaker 3: same faculty that allowed their campuses to be taken over
- 34:27Speaker 3: for weeks and months on end by radical anti Semitic protesters,
- 34:32Speaker 3: by antifa communists who again engage in threats of violence.
- 34:36Speaker 3: And in both instances, these are not organic. They're being
- 34:40Speaker 3: paid for. There is I've been saying for a long time,
- 34:44Speaker 3: follow the money. I've been urging the Department of Justice
- 34:47Speaker 3: and the FBI to follow the money. I've introduced legislation,
- 34:50Speaker 3: the Stop Thunders Act to add rioting as a predicate act. Tariko,
- 34:54Speaker 3: to let us go after the money that is behind
- 34:58Speaker 3: these violent anarchists. And I'll tell you what's being reported now.
- 35:01Speaker 3: This is another story. Fox News covered UC Berkeley's bloody
- 35:05Speaker 3: protest of Turning Point USA, allegedly funded by far left nonprofit.
- 35:10Speaker 3: Attorney General Pambondy opens anti terrorism investigation into campus clash
- 35:16Speaker 3: outside Turning Point USA event. And here's what Fox reports.
- 35:20Speaker 3: Last month, a band of demonstrators marched across West Temple
- 35:24Speaker 3: Street in downtown Los Angeles in the national anti Trump
- 35:29Speaker 3: No King's protest, carrying a banner that read defeat Trump's
- 35:33Speaker 3: fascist takeover, stop ice raids and deportations by any means necessary.
- 35:40Speaker 3: And in one corner, four bold letters stood out B
- 35:46Speaker 3: A M N, an acronym for by any means necessary.
- 35:52Speaker 3: The rest of the banner spelled out clues to the
- 35:54Speaker 3: group's full name and smaller print quote Coalition to defend
- 35:58Speaker 3: Affirmative Action in agration and immigration rights and fight for
- 36:02Speaker 3: equality by any means necessary. That organization one of two
- 36:08Speaker 3: hundred and sixty six groups with combined annual revenues of
- 36:13Speaker 3: two point nine billion dollars two point nine billion dollars
- 36:18Speaker 3: identified by Fox News Digital leading the No King's protests,
- 36:23Speaker 3: would soon reappear at this week's flashpoint on the campus
- 36:27Speaker 3: of University of California, Berkeley, And so this group. A
- 36:31Speaker 3: flyer circulated before the demonstration urged participants to quote end
- 36:37Speaker 3: fascist turning Points youth oriented campaign of incitement to violence.
- 36:41Speaker 3: Now ironically they're accusing Turning Point of incitement to violence,
- 36:45Speaker 3: and they show up and violently assault the people who
- 36:47Speaker 3: are going to Turning Point. This is its classic Marxist
- 36:51Speaker 3: technique of projecting and accusing your opponents of doing what
- 36:55Speaker 3: you're doing. And this flier announced a rally outside at
- 37:00Speaker 3: Zellerbach Hall an hour before the door's open for the event. Well,
- 37:05Speaker 3: the good news is and a QR page printed on
- 37:09Speaker 3: the flyer leads to a page on BAMN dot com,
- 37:15Speaker 3: which is a domain of this group that was helping
- 37:17Speaker 3: fund the No Kings rallies. And so there is an
- 37:21Speaker 3: entire ecosystem with money flowing to promote violence. And thankfully
- 37:27Speaker 3: the Department of Justice under Pambondi has announced that they're
- 37:32Speaker 3: doing an anti terrorism investigation to go after to follow
- 37:36Speaker 3: the money. And I'll tell you also, the Assistant Attorney
- 37:39Speaker 3: General for Civil Rights is questioning, is questioning why Berkeley
- 37:48Speaker 3: allowed this to happen. In fact, Assistant Attorney General for
- 37:53Speaker 3: Civil Rights Arment Dylan formally demanded that you see Berkeley
- 37:58Speaker 3: preserve all records regarding their response to the mob violence
- 38:04Speaker 3: at at Berkeley's Turning Point USA event. All records good.
- 38:09Speaker 3: And that's because I suspect they're going to find They're
- 38:13Speaker 3: going to find emails, They're going to find administrators saying
- 38:17Speaker 3: communicating back and forth, just like we did with the
- 38:19Speaker 3: anti Semitic protesters, where it is clear that the administrators
- 38:25Speaker 3: do not want to protect the people at Turning Point
- 38:27Speaker 3: USA do not want the police to stop violence if
- 38:30Speaker 3: it's directed against conservatives. And there's a real moral decay
- 38:34Speaker 3: at our universities. And I'm glad we have an Apartment
- 38:37Speaker 3: of Justice that's willing to enforce the law and go
- 38:41Speaker 3: after number one, the money behind the left wing violence,
- 38:45Speaker 3: but number two the administrators who are facilitating And I
- 38:48Speaker 3: got to say, it is not dissimilar to what's happening
- 38:52Speaker 3: in Nigeria we talked about a minute ago, where you
- 38:54Speaker 3: have government officials who look the other way and refuse
- 38:58Speaker 3: to enforce the law to protect crists. In Berkeley's case,
- 39:02Speaker 3: I suspect the evidence will indicate the school administrators look
- 39:05Speaker 3: the other way and refuse to protect the students at
- 39:09Speaker 3: Turning Point USA because they're rooting for the Antifa rioters
- 39:15Speaker 3: who are physically assaulting those students.
- 39:17Speaker 1: Ay man, don't forget. We do this show three days
- 39:19Speaker 1: a week.
- 39:20Speaker 2: Makes you share the podcast wherever you can, and you
- 39:23Speaker 2: can watch on YouTube as well. It's Verdicate Tech Careers.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Ben Ferguson with you Be Safe. We'll see you back
- 39:27Speaker 2: here on the podcast in a couple of days.
