I'm thinking today of 1 John 4 19. It says very simply, we love because He first loved us.

Here is a statement that's loaded with meaning. Were we even able to love before we were loved?

His love makes it possible for us to love. He showed us how and

becomes our motivation to do so. He makes it safe for us to do so.

Because whatever happens to us, we know where we're going,

we know that He has us firmly in hand and He's taking care of us. That is to say, if you've accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior,

if you've received the salvation that He paid for, if you haven't, do so now. Commit your life to the Lord and then love

because He first loved us. The list goes on of available resources that come out of the fact that He loves us.

It's validating. Who you are, your personhood, you may be a little different, a little odd,

but it's okay because it's who God made you to be. At the same time, we follow our Lord

faithfully and honorably as He leads us and directs us.

So we don't do things that we think are part of our personality that don't honor our Lord,

but He loves us and because He loves us, we too can love.
