- 4:15Speaker 1: That's O T T E R dot Ai. Well, and
- 4:19Speaker 1: and he said he wanted more. He had eight siblings
- 4:23Speaker 1: living in a two bedroom house, and my father started
- 4:25Speaker 1: one of the biggest construction companies UM in the d
- 4:28Speaker 1: C area, and I grew on to start one of
- 4:31Speaker 1: the biggest coaching and training programs in the country. So
- 4:36Speaker 1: despite of you can still do it. And now you
- 4:39Speaker 1: left out some important moments of your father. Your fathers
- 4:42Speaker 1: who drove a roider metal truck. Yeah truck, so you
- 4:48Speaker 1: know exactly. So I don't want to glass over there
- 4:51Speaker 1: because you know, to get to run in a big
- 4:54Speaker 1: construction in the DC area, which is phenomenal. You know,
- 4:57Speaker 1: there was a person who came from a humble beginnings
- 4:59Speaker 1: louis out out from Houston, Texas. So I have no
- 5:01Speaker 1: humble beginnings. Drive through the Louisanna all the time to
- 5:04Speaker 1: get to Atlanta, or as you drive through the do
- 5:06Speaker 1: comedy days back when I was doing stand up comedy.
- 5:08Speaker 1: So let's talk about those humble beginnings of your father,
- 5:11Speaker 1: because basically he built your bread out, built who you
- 5:13Speaker 1: are today. Walk him on truck, I steam truck, come up.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Let's talk about that. You know. You know my father
- 5:21Speaker 1: and I always asked him. He said, for Sean, you
- 5:24Speaker 1: are not where you come from, right, meaning you are
- 5:28Speaker 1: you have your background, you have your strength, and your courage.
- 5:31Speaker 1: But you don't have to stay in that environment. You
- 5:34Speaker 1: can dream big, think big, be big. And my father
- 5:37Speaker 1: always said, don't let people put boundaries on your dreams.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Don't let people put walls on what you believe in.
- 5:45Speaker 1: And so he always told me, even as a little kid,
- 5:48Speaker 1: if you're want to be the president of the United States,
- 5:50Speaker 1: you can't. I don't care about the color of your skin.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I don't care about where you come from. It's where
- 5:57Speaker 1: you end up. That's what he always said. It's not
- 6:00Speaker 1: where you come from, it's where you end up. And
- 6:02Speaker 1: so my father knew he wanted more. He knew that
- 6:05Speaker 1: he didn't want to play small. So he said, look,
- 6:08Speaker 1: if I have to save money, um selling watermelons, I
- 6:11Speaker 1: will do that. I mean like selling watermelons. And then
- 6:14Speaker 1: if I have to save money as ice creams, because
- 6:16Speaker 1: he saw a need. Kids love ice cream, they love
- 6:19Speaker 1: let me get you. Solved the problem. And then he
- 6:22Speaker 1: saved up enough money and he moved to Washington, d C.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Now let's talk about the whole save of him of money.
- 6:29Speaker 1: The life, your life, your father. Now he's the book.
- 6:33Speaker 1: He says, he's eighty four years old, still still sparky.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Once a day. Ladies in the parties talk about because
- 6:42Speaker 1: you know, that's the flipping up the script, you know,
- 6:43Speaker 1: because you know your parents they do that for you.
- 6:46Speaker 1: They take care of you, they raised you to this point,
- 6:48Speaker 1: and certainly the script is reversed with that. How's it
- 6:51Speaker 1: dealing with a person like that, who is, you know,
- 6:54Speaker 1: getting older each day but still resistant to the acknowledgement
- 6:58Speaker 1: that they are getting old each day? How does that
- 7:00Speaker 1: deal with your life? Dealing with the motivational cycles that
- 7:03Speaker 1: you have to deal with with other people. This is
- 7:05Speaker 1: your life now. Yes, it's a tough one because I
- 7:10Speaker 1: have a father who is strong. I mean, my father
- 7:13Speaker 1: thinks he got Denzel Washington looks Neil Gates money is
- 7:17Speaker 1: I mean like meaning he is so confident and I
- 7:20Speaker 1: love that and I think that's where I got it from.
- 7:22Speaker 1: He's like, never let someone dim your light. He is
- 7:25Speaker 1: into like, don't let someone dim your like. So my
- 7:27Speaker 1: father is now um, going on eighty five, I mean,
- 7:30Speaker 1: still wants to drive, still wants to day women in
- 7:33Speaker 1: their forties because he's living and not dying. And when
- 7:37Speaker 1: I realized is most people are dying and not living.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Most people play mediocre and play small they give up.
- 7:44Speaker 1: They just give up. They give up to what life
- 7:47Speaker 1: has given them. They say, well, you know, I'll get by.
- 7:51Speaker 1: I'm just good enough. I don't want to rock the boat.
- 7:54Speaker 1: I don't want to be uncomfortable. I don't want to
- 7:57Speaker 1: take it this far. I got enough. Like they put
- 8:01Speaker 1: come constraints around their dreams and box them. I say
- 8:05Speaker 1: go for it. I say go big or go home.
- 8:08Speaker 1: I say knock it out the park. And that's when
- 8:09Speaker 1: my father believes, knock it out the park. We've been
- 8:12Speaker 1: knocking out the parks. Just two thousand eleven. I say
- 8:14Speaker 1: that date because that's when the uh, the birth of
- 8:17Speaker 1: the warrior warman, we acknowledge your gift. When you walk
- 8:20Speaker 1: those stage fearful because of that's the number one fear.
- 8:23Speaker 1: And when the book will tell you the number one
- 8:25Speaker 1: fear of anybody is public speaking. And you walk those
- 8:28Speaker 1: state and then you you told your truth. Talk about
- 8:32Speaker 1: that moment which gave the birth of the true warrior woman,
- 8:35Speaker 1: and that's you. Thank you. Um. You know it's so funny.
- 8:40Speaker 1: I remember my doctor saying, uh, for Shawn, I want
- 8:44Speaker 1: you to speak to the audience. And I was like me,
- 8:47Speaker 1: why you know? And she said because we gave you
- 8:50Speaker 1: three months to live, it's almost two years and we
- 8:55Speaker 1: don't see the cancer. And I used to come into
- 8:57Speaker 1: chemo with a fur coat, lipstick and my hey shoes.
- 9:00Speaker 1: I was like, I'm not dying. I Am not coming
- 9:02Speaker 1: in with the sweatsuit. Are not done, Like I'm coming
- 9:05Speaker 1: in like I'm living. And so I remember doing that
- 9:09Speaker 1: speech and it probably was the first time I really
- 9:12Speaker 1: really really spoke my truth. It was the first time
- 9:15Speaker 1: that I let it all go. It wasn't the nice Brashan,
- 9:19Speaker 1: the pretty, the brashan that had it all together, the
- 9:22Speaker 1: successful Brashan. It was the real Brashan, the Brashon that
- 9:27Speaker 1: had fears, the Brashan that was scared, the brashan that
- 9:30Speaker 1: had issues, the brashon that was okay to share. And um,
- 9:35Speaker 1: that's when it all came out at that and someone screamed,
- 9:38Speaker 1: you are a warrior. She was like, you are a warrior. Wow,
- 9:42Speaker 1: you're And that's where my brand came out. And then
- 9:44Speaker 1: the whole audience started screaming you are a warrior. And
- 9:48Speaker 1: I was like, wow, people are really listening to me.
- 9:52Speaker 1: They're really standing up, giving me a standing ovation to
- 9:54Speaker 1: listen to me. And it's really interesting when you talk
- 9:58Speaker 1: like that, because we are tend to be a fearful
- 10:00Speaker 1: to tell our story or or watered down and don't
- 10:04Speaker 1: want to tell all the facts and then guess what,
- 10:07Speaker 1: the truth doesn't really tell your journey, you know, just
- 10:10Speaker 1: to share my side of the story, I'm a I'm
- 10:12Speaker 1: a cancer survivor. Okay, I'm when I was recording when
- 10:17Speaker 1: I and we can share these moments, emotional moments because
- 10:20Speaker 1: you know, I tell people and when they're telling you
- 10:22Speaker 1: that you have cancer, I'm in the world stops right there.
- 10:25Speaker 1: I mean, it's like, uh, it's not forth life and death.
- 10:30Speaker 1: It's probably the most powerful word that you can get
- 10:32Speaker 1: from a doctor of somebody of American profession, because all
- 10:36Speaker 1: the death just jumps into your world and you start
- 10:39Speaker 1: start dealing with instant thoughts of what else, why me?
- 10:42Speaker 1: What do I do? Just talk about your moment and
- 10:45Speaker 1: when that happened, and like I said, uh, what you're
- 10:48Speaker 1: battling and uh and where you are right now? So
- 10:51Speaker 1: first of all, thank you for sharing um your story too,
- 10:54Speaker 1: because you know, from survivor to to survivor, we're thriving
- 10:58Speaker 1: from san Rashan from we dive Um, you know it's
- 11:06Speaker 1: true when when you hear you have cancer but stage
- 11:10Speaker 1: for terminal breast cancer, um cancer all over your body,
- 11:15Speaker 1: your world stopped. I mean it's I mean, you see death,
- 11:19Speaker 1: you see when it's my time. And I gotta tell
- 11:22Speaker 1: you Rashan, I remember it's so clearly. Um. I said, Dr,
- 11:26Speaker 1: what can I do? Like, I mean, what can I do? Like?
- 11:30Speaker 1: You know, I'm young, I'm thirty something like, what can
- 11:32Speaker 1: I do? And he said, do you believe in miracles?
- 11:36Speaker 1: And at that moment, something just hit me in my
- 11:38Speaker 1: core and I said, you know what, Hell, yeah, I
- 11:41Speaker 1: believe in miracles and I believe in God. And I said,
- 11:44Speaker 1: you know what, Doc, I'll see you in teen years
- 11:46Speaker 1: because I'm gonna be here. I'm not letting this cancer
- 11:49Speaker 1: take me out. And it's something in me clicked. And
- 11:53Speaker 1: it was the click of fear or faith. That's what clicked,
- 11:59Speaker 1: fear or faith because I could live in fear and
- 12:03Speaker 1: say I'm gonna die. Because he was like, get your
- 12:04Speaker 1: affairs in order, da da da da. I mean we
- 12:07Speaker 1: sent your tests to M. D Anderson, Sloan, George Washington
- 12:12Speaker 1: d g W. I mean everywhere, George Town. So it
- 12:17Speaker 1: was conclusive that it was staged four. It was conclusive
- 12:20Speaker 1: that it was there. It was conclusive that it was aggressive.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Like all of this was concluded. This wasn't like okay,
- 12:26Speaker 1: they were confused a little bit. This was a conclusion.
- 12:29Speaker 1: But I said, I went into that hallway and I said, God,
- 12:32Speaker 1: if you keep me alive, just keep me alive, I
- 12:36Speaker 1: will um. I will be a vessel. I would try
- 12:39Speaker 1: to change the world by by letting them know that
- 12:43Speaker 1: it's fear of faith. Which side are you gonna walk on?
- 12:46Speaker 1: Because I know I wasn't meant to go this early.
- 12:50Speaker 1: I know and if if I do everything and I go,
- 12:53Speaker 1: it was my time. But but if you keep me alive,
- 12:58Speaker 1: I know I got a journey. I know I have
- 12:59Speaker 1: a all and that's bigger than I could ever imagine.
- 13:02Speaker 1: And that's what I'm walking in now. Well you know
- 13:05Speaker 1: we're not sharing my story cancer because we all know
- 13:10Speaker 1: it can come back. And when when my staff came
- 13:13Speaker 1: to me and they were talking about your book, the
- 13:14Speaker 1: unstopped for Warrior Woman. When when I started reading the
- 13:17Speaker 1: highlights and said, okay, she's a survivor. See, I try
- 13:20Speaker 1: to when I try to bring on money making conversations.
- 13:22Speaker 1: It's real stories because a lot of people have a
- 13:24Speaker 1: lot of hype. You know, they how you can be successful,
- 13:27Speaker 1: these are the steps, but they're not really successful. How
- 13:30Speaker 1: you can make money, but they really don't have any money.
- 13:32Speaker 1: But when you're a survivor of cancer and still going
- 13:35Speaker 1: through life every day like it's a normal day, because
- 13:38Speaker 1: it's not a normal day for me because it can
- 13:40Speaker 1: change or were not. I have to take pills. I
- 13:43Speaker 1: have to, you know, I have to have six months.
- 13:45Speaker 1: I have to go in for checkups and that it
- 13:48Speaker 1: could change in the checkup. Okay, I cannot stop taking those. Peoples,
- 13:52Speaker 1: I had thyrod cancer, so I have to take thyroid
- 13:54Speaker 1: pills and and I can keep lowber pressure pills, all
- 13:57Speaker 1: these things, Vitamin D. When when COVID hit, you know,
- 13:59Speaker 1: I was one of those candidates that they talk about.
- 14:02Speaker 1: You know, have a presisting conditions that can be really
- 14:05Speaker 1: highly effective if you get if you contract COVID. How
- 14:08Speaker 1: did you deal with the whole COVID in relationship to
- 14:11Speaker 1: your health situation? You know, that's a good point because
- 14:15Speaker 1: you're right, COVID hit and we are you know, pre
- 14:18Speaker 1: existing issues that you know, Unfortunately, I know someone who
- 14:22Speaker 1: unfortunately didn't make it, OVID who was the survivor. I
- 14:25Speaker 1: mean me, let me tell you. We're saying I have
- 14:27Speaker 1: a regiment. I do a green powder every morning. I
- 14:30Speaker 1: do Vitamin D, vitamin C, chlorophills fairly and visual well.
- 14:36Speaker 1: I mean, like you tell me, I do infrared saunas, exercise.
- 14:39Speaker 1: I mean this is my life, right, you know, like
- 14:44Speaker 1: I take my health seriously. I may have some gummy
- 14:47Speaker 1: bears here and near enough, you know it's not good.
- 14:51Speaker 1: I may have a Snickers bar, but I mean I
- 14:54Speaker 1: really do take my health very seriously. So when COVID hit, boom,
- 14:58Speaker 1: Vitamin D, load up, Vitamin C, load up. Get y'all
- 15:02Speaker 1: load up, a regular oil load up. I load up
- 15:05Speaker 1: and you have to load up to load up. Take
- 15:07Speaker 1: it seriously. And you know I wear my mask, I
- 15:11Speaker 1: social distance. I take this seriously. You know. I know
- 15:15Speaker 1: some are like, oh, yeah, it's a hoax or it's
- 15:18Speaker 1: not that serious. But let me tell you. People are dying,
- 15:20Speaker 1: and I know some who have died, like I personally
- 15:24Speaker 1: know that. So this is not a joke, a hoax.
- 15:28Speaker 1: This isn't a Republican thing or Democrat thing. This is
- 15:30Speaker 1: a real thing, a virus. Thing doesn't matter what side
- 15:34Speaker 1: you said, it really is And that's why I wanted
- 15:36Speaker 1: to bring that up because and talking about different conversations.
- 15:39Speaker 1: That's my phone. Excuse me? Is that my phone? What
- 15:46Speaker 1: else that I apologize for? Sean? No, don't worry baby,
- 15:52Speaker 1: where you got a sharp suit on cool prodcast um?
- 16:02Speaker 1: You know I wanted to talk about we edit that out?
- 16:04Speaker 1: The work about it? U The thing about when I
- 16:07Speaker 1: when let's talk about the book. Now, you know, the
- 16:10Speaker 1: unstoppable warrior woman, like I told you before we got
- 16:13Speaker 1: on air, to the people that you went to. You know,
- 16:17Speaker 1: your story led to stories because it's important and you're
- 16:20Speaker 1: you're you're two times yep, you know stage four cancer survivor.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Like I told him earlier, I don't know, it could
- 16:28Speaker 1: come back on me. That's the fear of cancer. You know.
- 16:31Speaker 1: You can never walk out of room and say it
- 16:32Speaker 1: won't come back. But you have to do your due
- 16:34Speaker 1: dealing just to stop it from coming back. You have
- 16:36Speaker 1: to live a healthy life. You have to realize that
- 16:39Speaker 1: you can't feel sorry for yourself. I totally agree with you.
- 16:42Speaker 1: This is how address you know people. I wear this
- 16:45Speaker 1: as a as a reminder when when I'm doing TV shows.
- 16:48Speaker 1: If anybody ever asked me Rashan, they said, why you
- 16:50Speaker 1: are that? I said, because I'm a cancer survivor. That
- 16:53Speaker 1: allows me to but it then closer, let me see
- 16:56Speaker 1: it right, you know, it allows me to go in
- 16:58Speaker 1: and tell them comfortably a conversation about who I am.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Because a lot of people see a cancer a councer victim,
- 17:05Speaker 1: or a cancer survivor look in a certain way, acting
- 17:08Speaker 1: a certain way, walking a certain way, talking to a
- 17:10Speaker 1: certain way. And that's why I was important for me
- 17:12Speaker 1: to bring you on the show, because I wanted to
- 17:14Speaker 1: show you know, yes, you walk around with this fear.
- 17:17Speaker 1: We actual walk around with this this incredible uh negative
- 17:20Speaker 1: thing that can happen and stop your life in the heartbeat.
- 17:24Speaker 1: But you can't stop living your life. You can't stop
- 17:25Speaker 1: looking like taking control your life. People come around. You
- 17:28Speaker 1: have to enable them that what happiness, have to enable
- 17:31Speaker 1: them with motivation. And that's what you're doing. And that's
- 17:33Speaker 1: what the book that you wrote, the Unstoppable Word Woman,
- 17:36Speaker 1: that's how I led it to all these other interviews,
- 17:39Speaker 1: tell us about it. You know, I realized that Huffington
- 17:44Speaker 1: posted an article, I mean, Sam Brashawn is unstoppable, and
- 17:47Speaker 1: everything she does, she's unstoppable, you know, because I guess
- 17:51Speaker 1: I remember being uh time joiner and he said something.
- 17:55Speaker 1: He said, it's so interesting that here you are dealing
- 17:59Speaker 1: in the midst of state before going to treatment, and
- 18:01Speaker 1: you're out there motivating people. Most people would be depressed
- 18:05Speaker 1: at home, don't want to talk about it, just like
- 18:08Speaker 1: let it overpass them, don't even don't even like listen
- 18:12Speaker 1: to them. They don't want to speak about it. But
- 18:14Speaker 1: here you are speaking about it, telling people that they
- 18:17Speaker 1: can still thrive, telling people don't live in fear. He said,
- 18:20Speaker 1: it's amazing. And when I realized I was unstoppable, there
- 18:24Speaker 1: are so many other people with a story, unstoppable to
- 18:28Speaker 1: so many other women because as you know, I mean,
- 18:31Speaker 1: these movements are coming me too, but it's the woman
- 18:34Speaker 1: that's coming out now. It's time for us to shine.
- 18:37Speaker 1: I played small for so long. I never realized my
- 18:41Speaker 1: business could have thrived like this. I never knew realized
- 18:44Speaker 1: that I would be an expert and on television as
- 18:48Speaker 1: an expert, a business coach, a career you know, I
- 18:51Speaker 1: a leadership coach. I never realized that we'll realize it now.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Your book now, uh, you have several chapters in The
- 19:00Speaker 1: Poppable Creative Women and How they shine because you lead
- 19:02Speaker 1: off with a statement, with a motivational statement or statement
- 19:05Speaker 1: or truth. I'd like to call it turning your personal
- 19:07Speaker 1: vision into an unstoppable success, unstoppable healing of family and community,
- 19:12Speaker 1: getting unstoppable, unstoppably healthy against all odds, choosing unstoppable happiness.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Of all those chapters, you know, you know our helped
- 19:22Speaker 1: Steve Harvard write several books. There was always one chapter
- 19:24Speaker 1: that really hit home with him. And all these books,
- 19:27Speaker 1: of all those, of all your chapters, which one resonated
- 19:30Speaker 1: the most with you? You know? I like unstoppable happiness
- 19:34Speaker 1: because we like to put our happiness on other people.
- 19:38Speaker 1: We like to say, well, um, you know it's because
- 19:41Speaker 1: of my husband, I'm not there, it's because of my partner,
- 19:44Speaker 1: I'm not there. It's because like, stop putting your happiness
- 19:47Speaker 1: on someone and find happiness within your Yes, you are
- 19:51Speaker 1: the prize. When we start to realize we're the prize,
- 19:54Speaker 1: we are the superstars. You don't have to search for anyone,
- 19:58Speaker 1: you don't. You have every thing you need to be unstoppable.
- 20:02Speaker 1: We just don't step into it. And the book is
- 20:05Speaker 1: forty women sharing forty stories of hope, of challenges, of triumph,
- 20:10Speaker 1: of of mistakes, of fear, of doubt, of hardcore stories
- 20:15Speaker 1: of rape, of purpies. I mean, it's a lot of
- 20:17Speaker 1: stories in the of a lot of things. But it's true.
- 20:21Speaker 1: That's what the that's what the book is. A story
- 20:23Speaker 1: of truth that leads to hope or the thing about it,
- 20:26Speaker 1: that's what. That's what impacted me. You know this is
- 20:29Speaker 1: I'm a male, but I was impacted by their truth. Now,
- 20:32Speaker 1: how do you you know you're motivatorm you have relationships?
- 20:36Speaker 1: How did you contact the individuals and did you shape
- 20:38Speaker 1: their stories or you just tell them sending your thoughts?
- 20:41Speaker 1: How did they How did the stories get into the book?
- 20:44Speaker 1: Oh so good point. I mean they sit stories and
- 20:46Speaker 1: I helped shape it because every I mean, you know,
- 20:48Speaker 1: everyone's not a writer. Everyone doesn't know how to put it.
- 20:51Speaker 1: But but I wanted to shape the stories. I shaped
- 20:54Speaker 1: the stories around the like sometimes you have to pull
- 20:57Speaker 1: out things from people because people don't even think they're
- 20:59Speaker 1: on stoppable. People think their story is small, so I
- 21:02Speaker 1: had to pull it out. But in the stories, everybody's
- 21:05Speaker 1: stories had greatness and every well you didn't have one, right,
- 21:08Speaker 1: And then the journalists who went from New York to
- 21:10Speaker 1: Africa and came back. She was the journalists. They probably
- 21:13Speaker 1: had the longest section in your book as well. Yes, yes,
- 21:17Speaker 1: you know, yes, yes, yes, So that was a good one.
- 21:20Speaker 1: So everyone's story, I told everyone. Everyone just had their
- 21:24Speaker 1: own story. Everyone had their own story, Everyone had their
- 21:27Speaker 1: own jority and and that's life. Everyone has their own
- 21:30Speaker 1: journey when summer longer, but that is life. I really
- 21:33Speaker 1: liked her story. Uh. I liked all of the story
- 21:36Speaker 1: from a standpoint of they gave nuggets of inspiration and
- 21:39Speaker 1: also overcoming either physical or beautiful. Young young lady got shot,
- 21:44Speaker 1: bully experiences, you know, abuse, physical and mental abuse experiences
- 21:50Speaker 1: going out there. But the one message that came out
- 21:52Speaker 1: more and more, it's like, it's about you stop stop
- 21:57Speaker 1: lending your gifts to somebody that doesn't appreciate it. Stop
- 22:00Speaker 1: motivating other people who don't want your motivation. That was
- 22:03Speaker 1: a message that keeps screaming out through each page that
- 22:06Speaker 1: I turned in your book. Tell us about that, Rashan.
- 22:09Speaker 1: You know, I think what I try to get out
- 22:13Speaker 1: of each story is, like you said, Rashan, it's about you.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Stop giving your gifts away, stop giving your purpose away,
- 22:22Speaker 1: stop giving stop playing small, stop being mediocre. Every story
- 22:26Speaker 1: I wanted you to say, Wow, this is a nugget. Wow,
- 22:29Speaker 1: this is a nugget, right like you said, I mean,
- 22:32Speaker 1: it's rape, is bullying, It's somebody who lost a hundred
- 22:35Speaker 1: and fifty pounds, it's a cancer survivor, it's someone who
- 22:39Speaker 1: tried to play small. It's all of these. It's a journalist,
- 22:42Speaker 1: it's someone who found their their their life. It's some
- 22:46Speaker 1: I mean, I wanted everything. I wanted stories of of hardship, challenges, mistakes,
- 22:52Speaker 1: but in the end, hope they made it to the
- 22:55Speaker 1: other side. Because if you fall down and you can
- 22:57Speaker 1: look up, you can get up. Well, let's talk about
- 22:59Speaker 1: the force steps to mindset freedom. You know this is uh.
- 23:02Speaker 1: I won't tell anybody we're part of the book, but
- 23:04Speaker 1: it's a part of the book that that moved me.
- 23:07Speaker 1: And there's a lot of the advice that I followed,
- 23:09Speaker 1: and I felt that when I read this, I go
- 23:12Speaker 1: home run because we're on the same page. Because I'm
- 23:15Speaker 1: gonna tell everybody this, there's certain things you have to
- 23:18Speaker 1: do to be successful. You have to be consistent, about it.
- 23:20Speaker 1: There's a certain tone. Lazy people aren't successful. They may
- 23:23Speaker 1: be temporary, they might win the lottery, but eventually they
- 23:26Speaker 1: might be the person who loses the money in debt
- 23:29Speaker 1: because they're lazier to their approach and life. And there
- 23:31Speaker 1: are certain principles about being successful. And when you start
- 23:34Speaker 1: talking about the four steps the mindset that's in your
- 23:36Speaker 1: book for Sean, let's talk about change your viewpoint. That
- 23:40Speaker 1: was very important because I readily I say that because
- 23:43Speaker 1: the journalists that went from Africa from New York to Africa.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Who's afraid to go to U c l A. Because
- 23:49Speaker 1: it was too far away? But then she moved to Africa.
- 23:51Speaker 1: That's changing your viewpoint. And I and I only just
- 23:54Speaker 1: using an example that when you talk about change your viewpoint,
- 23:57Speaker 1: because I was a person who for some reason New
- 24:00Speaker 1: York to u c l A. Which is in Los Angeles,
- 24:02Speaker 1: too far away, but New York to Africa years later
- 24:05Speaker 1: she was cool with it. You know, I think we
- 24:09Speaker 1: we we get so stuck with our mindset. So change
- 24:12Speaker 1: your viewpoint is be open for change, be open to change,
- 24:16Speaker 1: and board change. Life begins at the end of your
- 24:19Speaker 1: comfort zone. If you want to stay the way you are,
- 24:22Speaker 1: you'll always be the way you are. If you want greatness.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Greatness is on the other side of that theme. But
- 24:28Speaker 1: a lot of times we're too afraid to go there
- 24:30Speaker 1: because it's too hard, it's too far, we don't know
- 24:33Speaker 1: what's gonna be there, we don't know how it's gonna be,
- 24:35Speaker 1: and we stay stuff. Right, if you want greatness, you
- 24:38Speaker 1: gotta change your viewpoint and change your mindset and go
- 24:41Speaker 1: for it. Absolutely can't be afraid of the unknown, and
- 24:44Speaker 1: unknown is happens every day. You have a life insurance,
- 24:49Speaker 1: you all the insurance, your Hohne owners you sure because
- 24:51Speaker 1: it prepares you for the unknown. And that's what life
- 24:54Speaker 1: is about. So if you're going out there worried about
- 24:57Speaker 1: change it, I might not I might not be successful.
- 24:59Speaker 1: I don't that you might get an all the wheel accident.
- 25:02Speaker 1: That's the part of my insurance exists. Stopped running away
- 25:05Speaker 1: from your past. Oh that's a good one. Come on,
- 25:09Speaker 1: come on, come on, trying to go away from your past. See,
- 25:12Speaker 1: your past makes you who you are. And my father
- 25:15Speaker 1: always said, don't run away from your past, embrace it.
- 25:18Speaker 1: I was poor. I grew up in a two bedroom
- 25:21Speaker 1: house with eight kids, living in a two bedroom house
- 25:25Speaker 1: and we slept where we can sleep. We made it happen.
- 25:28Speaker 1: My past made me who I am. Strong. You see,
- 25:31Speaker 1: people are embarrassed about their past. I remember coaching a woman.
- 25:35Speaker 1: She had made up this lie about she went to
- 25:38Speaker 1: Yale Um. She had made up this whole story. She
- 25:41Speaker 1: really did go to Yale, but she made up the
- 25:42Speaker 1: story that they were lived in Boca, that they had
- 25:45Speaker 1: this that was there, that was their country, that was
- 25:47Speaker 1: their summer house and winter house. And she she really
- 25:51Speaker 1: was from the projects of New York. She didn't want
- 25:54Speaker 1: to tell anyone to embarrassed. But let me tell you,
- 25:56Speaker 1: your story is who you are now. She tells her story,
- 25:59Speaker 1: so I can now tell her a story. But now,
- 26:02Speaker 1: like your past, don't run away from it. Embrace it.
- 26:04Speaker 1: It's beautiful. It is your fingerprint and your footprint. That's
- 26:07Speaker 1: what God made you from your past, from your story.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Speak of girls to Rishan, she's speaking to truth. Stop
- 26:16Speaker 1: blaming and start forgiving. That is a problem a lot
- 26:19Speaker 1: of people have. It ruins relationships, It rules family dynamics.
- 26:24Speaker 1: It can ruin business relationship because you blame someone else.
- 26:27Speaker 1: And I always tell people it's a two way street.
- 26:29Speaker 1: In that blame. It is so true. See, we love
- 26:33Speaker 1: to blame because every time you point the finger at someone,
- 26:36Speaker 1: three fingers are planning back at you. I need to
- 26:40Speaker 1: say that again. Yes, every time you plaint the finger,
- 26:44Speaker 1: three fingers are pointing back at you. It's because blaming
- 26:49Speaker 1: is easy. Taking responsibility is hard. It's hard to say
- 26:54Speaker 1: I failed, I messed up. Yeah, I was wrong, I
- 26:57Speaker 1: did it wrong. That's hard because we want to be right,
- 27:00Speaker 1: we want to be perfect. We want to say nothing's wrong, No,
- 27:02Speaker 1: you were, you messed up. Take responsibility. Let me tell you,
- 27:06Speaker 1: I take responsibility way more time than I blame because
- 27:10Speaker 1: it's always too. It's always too in that show, not one.
- 27:14Speaker 1: It's too in the marriage, not one. It's too in
- 27:16Speaker 1: a friendship, not one. It's too in a partnership, not one.
- 27:20Speaker 1: And the last one is letting go. And that's so
- 27:23Speaker 1: that's a good one. Letting go, Well, that's a good
- 27:25Speaker 1: one because we all, I don't care who you are,
- 27:28Speaker 1: we all have the experience of holding onto a grudge,
- 27:32Speaker 1: holding onto a mistake. And letting go is a really
- 27:35Speaker 1: powerful term because it doesn't have to be necessarily letting
- 27:38Speaker 1: goals on the relationship. It could be something that you've
- 27:41Speaker 1: done and you have not forgiven yourself for that. Talk
- 27:44Speaker 1: about your version of it for sean. You know, letting
- 27:47Speaker 1: go as hard because comfortable. We love to be comfortable.
- 27:53Speaker 1: We love to have what we have. You know, it's
- 27:55Speaker 1: so funny, something easy like this. I tell my clients
- 27:58Speaker 1: go to work. You know, if you drive to work
- 28:00Speaker 1: thirty minutes, you go the same way, go a different way,
- 28:03Speaker 1: go through the streets. No, I don't want to go
- 28:05Speaker 1: through the street. No, take this right and go No, no, no,
- 28:08Speaker 1: it won't work. It'll get me there. See if they
- 28:10Speaker 1: don't let go because I want to do it the
- 28:12Speaker 1: way I want to do it. I want to do
- 28:14Speaker 1: it how I want to do it, the way I
- 28:16Speaker 1: want to do it. People let that mess them up.
- 28:18Speaker 1: In relationships and marriages and friendships, you don't let go
- 28:22Speaker 1: of the things like try something new, you go past,
- 28:27Speaker 1: let go of that negative thinking, let go of trying
- 28:31Speaker 1: to be right. Let go. You are going to We're
- 28:34Speaker 1: gonna have a long time relationship. I'm gonna just tell
- 28:36Speaker 1: you that ten years, fifteen years will be like your
- 28:40Speaker 1: dad eighty five. You know, I just gonna be looking
- 28:43Speaker 1: for the old women. The thing about it is that
- 28:48Speaker 1: because everything you say it is the truth in life.
- 28:50Speaker 1: You know, sometimes I go home, I go a different
- 28:52Speaker 1: way just to see what life is down there, still
- 28:55Speaker 1: being careful, still not be an adventures, just seeing a
- 28:58Speaker 1: different treat see in a different street, like passing the
- 29:01Speaker 1: given gas station. Because from a creative standpoint, you got
- 29:04Speaker 1: to be able to look at life differently. So that
- 29:07Speaker 1: allows you to come home with a different attitude, come
- 29:09Speaker 1: home with not that same I saw it again, the
- 29:12Speaker 1: same routine, get off the frey on that same exit,
- 29:15Speaker 1: coming down that same back road. I do it a lot,
- 29:18Speaker 1: I really do. Right, So when you when you talk
- 29:20Speaker 1: like that, I go, wow, she is so dead on
- 29:22Speaker 1: because ot the have it. I do these things. But
- 29:25Speaker 1: I want to before we wrap up, I want to
- 29:26Speaker 1: this great conversation. Thank you for coming on the show.
- 29:29Speaker 1: The Unstoppable Word Woman, released October twenty seven, is available
- 29:34Speaker 1: in bookstores now. But she's tapping into an area this
- 29:37Speaker 1: app that she's dropped mental health. Mental health in the
- 29:39Speaker 1: black community of the African American community is kind of
- 29:42Speaker 1: like the Kurts. We don't want to admit, we don't
- 29:46Speaker 1: two things. We don't want to met. We don't want
- 29:47Speaker 1: to mat homosexuality in the black community, and we definitely
- 29:50Speaker 1: don't want to men mental health issues in the black community.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Talk about the importance of this new app that you're
- 29:56Speaker 1: dropping in twenty we're shying yourself right. Look, you need
- 29:58Speaker 1: to be a coach on there. You know you have
- 30:00Speaker 1: coaches speakers. Oh, I love your energy. So we're gonna
- 30:03Speaker 1: talk offline about that. We're launching big it rids. We
- 30:09Speaker 1: gotta stay together, girl, Yes, you know, you know right
- 30:15Speaker 1: now I'm launching it's called you Are a Warrior. You
- 30:17Speaker 1: Are a Warrior W A R R I O R.
- 30:20Speaker 1: They can sign up. They can sign up now, it'll
- 30:24Speaker 1: be coming soon. They get they get perks if they
- 30:26Speaker 1: sign up now. You know, it's something people are tired
- 30:30Speaker 1: of Facebook. They call it fakebook and inst the fame, right,
- 30:33Speaker 1: you know, it's negative. It's always putting something out that's
- 30:37Speaker 1: not positive. I want somewhere where people can express themselves
- 30:41Speaker 1: about depression, anxiety and stress, where we can really talk
- 30:45Speaker 1: to others and we can use avatars if we don't
- 30:48Speaker 1: want to share who we are, or we can be ourselves.
- 30:50Speaker 1: But it's time to get the help we need. People
- 30:54Speaker 1: are committing suicide open yards are up like no other bodies. Business,
- 30:58Speaker 1: medications are up. Um, people are depressed in slumps. I
- 31:03Speaker 1: just saw Sam Smith say, he was like, I've never
- 31:05Speaker 1: been so depressed in my life. Um. You know, staying inside,
- 31:09Speaker 1: people feel closed in, not socializing. People are and this
- 31:13Speaker 1: is really bringing out this side of people. It's really
- 31:15Speaker 1: bringing this out. People want to an outlet, and that's
- 31:18Speaker 1: what I'm going to give them. An outlet. You know,
- 31:20Speaker 1: it's a place where it's a mental health app. You
- 31:22Speaker 1: can express yourself the first thing, sharing your story. We
- 31:26Speaker 1: have quizzes on it, we have challenges, we have chat rooms,
- 31:29Speaker 1: or you can talk to an expert that has four
- 31:32Speaker 1: pillars motivation, personal development, self improvement, and speaking to an expert.
- 31:37Speaker 1: I want to be there to help and and really
- 31:40Speaker 1: talk about real stuff instead of you know, we can
- 31:42Speaker 1: listen to music all day, we can dance all day,
- 31:44Speaker 1: we can talk about TikTok all day, but deep inside
- 31:47Speaker 1: we're crying. When Elon Musk says that I'm lonely, I
- 31:51Speaker 1: need someone to talk to one of the wealthiest men
- 31:53Speaker 1: in the world in the world saying I feel alone, Well,
- 31:58Speaker 1: you know, and at that absolutely I think that successful
- 32:02Speaker 1: people say that because who you talk to, and sometimes
- 32:05Speaker 1: when you are successful, you can't show weaknesses and that
- 32:08Speaker 1: Andsho and that's a part of mental health. That's the
- 32:11Speaker 1: challenge of allowing yourself to say weakness and who you
- 32:14Speaker 1: show that weakness too. So you won't be backstabb or
- 32:17Speaker 1: you won't be undermined because you're showing these signs of weaknesses.
- 32:20Speaker 1: But that's all part of the mental health campaign that
- 32:22Speaker 1: you're trying to bring to the forefront. And the reason
- 32:24Speaker 1: I'm talking about that, Shaun, is that the Black community,
- 32:27Speaker 1: if we don't start accepting therapy as as being all
- 32:31Speaker 1: right going to see a therapist or going to see
- 32:34Speaker 1: a psychiatrist. It's fine to deal with some some issues
- 32:38Speaker 1: that you might have when you're growing up, or you
- 32:40Speaker 1: might have in a relationship issues and instead of just
- 32:43Speaker 1: going from one person to the next person, basically destroy
- 32:46Speaker 1: the good man or a woman along the way because
- 32:48Speaker 1: you don't want to deal with your emotional or mental issues.
- 32:52Speaker 1: These are important. That's why I wanted to make sure
- 32:54Speaker 1: that we talked about it. Tell people again about your
- 32:57Speaker 1: warrior of the app before we wrap up. Okay, yeah,
- 33:00Speaker 1: so you are a warrior of the letter. You are
- 33:03Speaker 1: a w A R R I O R dot com.
- 33:06Speaker 1: You can go and sign up. Please go and sign up.
- 33:08Speaker 1: You get perks. The first We're giving a thousand people
- 33:11Speaker 1: all kind of gifts and inspirational books and newsletters and perks,
- 33:14Speaker 1: so please join it. But it's a it's a mental
- 33:17Speaker 1: health app that deals with depression, anxiety, and strength. And
- 33:20Speaker 1: we have four pillars that helps you motivation, self improvement,
- 33:24Speaker 1: personal development, and support. We have coaches to help coach
- 33:28Speaker 1: you chat rooms. You can be in a guided chat
- 33:31Speaker 1: room with a coach or you can be alone just listening.
- 33:34Speaker 1: We have a place where you can get meditation, um,
- 33:37Speaker 1: you can do yoga, you can listen to videos, just
- 33:39Speaker 1: whatever you need every day of the week. And we
