- 1:17Speaker 1: to success is relationships. He's one of the foremost authorities
- 1:21Speaker 1: on the social media platform linked in. Please worcome the
- 1:24Speaker 1: money making conversations. Robert T. Young Blood, how the Robert
- 1:29Speaker 1: I'm doing well? Ver Sean, peace and blessing? Can you
- 1:32Speaker 1: hear me, sir? Absolutely? And Robert and I'm am I'm
- 1:34Speaker 1: making you sound big, am, I'm making That's the goal here, Robert,
- 1:36Speaker 1: because you got it going on with that LinkedIn. My man,
- 1:39Speaker 1: let me tell you what, man, I feel big, But
- 1:42Speaker 1: when I'm around giants, man, I feel like I'm in
- 1:44Speaker 1: the right place. So thank you so much for the
- 1:45Speaker 1: opportunity to be with you today. Appreciate it. Now tell
- 1:48Speaker 1: me this what is when the whole uh you know,
- 1:51Speaker 1: I had you on the show before only one break.
- 1:53Speaker 1: I got to feel two breaks because I wanted to
- 1:54Speaker 1: slow it down and I'm not I'm not trying to
- 1:57Speaker 1: have you give a seminar on my show, But I
- 2:00Speaker 1: want to educate you and also hopefully drive business and
- 2:04Speaker 1: relationships with you on LinkedIn that can build your brand
- 2:07Speaker 1: through Why Be Connects What exactly is Why be Connects?
- 2:12Speaker 1: So Why Be Connects is a strategic consulting and coaching firm.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I work with sales executives and entrepreneurs to help them
- 2:21Speaker 1: to enhance their visibility, credibility and profitability using tools like LinkedIn.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Now when you have not not to what is the difference?
- 2:31Speaker 1: Because I like I said that. I I told her
- 2:34Speaker 1: I'm very successful on Facebook, are using a lot Instagram, Twitter,
- 2:38Speaker 1: not feeling Twitter, but I do have a Twitter account.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Now I have the same thing with monimating conversations. I
- 2:43Speaker 1: have a Monimating Conversations Facebook account and our Monumenting Conversations
- 2:48Speaker 1: Twitter account. What is the true value of LinkedIn? The
- 2:53Speaker 1: true value of LinkedIn is the opportunity to connect with
- 2:57Speaker 1: business professionals, whether they are CEO thos or managing directors
- 3:02Speaker 1: of companies, or if they are the people who can
- 3:06Speaker 1: decide to hire you for potential opportunities, recruiters and such um.
- 3:11Speaker 1: The difference between Facebook and LinkedIn is that Facebook is
- 3:14Speaker 1: mainly social, it's mainly personal from a you know, I
- 3:18Speaker 1: know you from college and we just talk about anything
- 3:21Speaker 1: and everything. LinkedIn is focuses primarily on your professional brand,
- 3:26Speaker 1: your ability to attract those opportunities that will lead to
- 3:30Speaker 1: revenue or lead to income. Uh So you know, in
- 3:34Speaker 1: some cases you're not able to get in front of
- 3:36Speaker 1: the CEO on Facebook, but you can get in front
- 3:39Speaker 1: of the CEOs on LinkedIn. So if your goal as
- 3:42Speaker 1: an entrepreneur is to secure a speaking opportunity, or maybe
- 3:46Speaker 1: you want to identify additional sponsors, LinkedIn is the place
- 3:50Speaker 1: to do it because people are using that platform to
- 3:53Speaker 1: discuss business topics. That being said, how do you help
- 3:57Speaker 1: a person, how do you help a company take advantage
- 4:00Speaker 1: of that platform. So, my my clients are solrpreneurs. My
- 4:05Speaker 1: my work with a lot of authors, speakers, coaches, life coaches,
- 4:10Speaker 1: and so their biggest challenge is really identifying their next client.
- 4:14Speaker 1: It's really helping them to attract their ideal client. I'll
- 4:18Speaker 1: have a philosophy that if no one knows you exist,
- 4:20Speaker 1: they can't pay you. So what we want to do
- 4:23Speaker 1: is I focus on teaching my clients how to be visible,
- 4:26Speaker 1: how to perfect their elevator pitch, how to promote who
- 4:30Speaker 1: they are, what they do, how they do what they do,
- 4:34Speaker 1: and then who needs their service. Once they gain that
- 4:37Speaker 1: level of clarity and confidence, then we transition to LinkedIn
- 4:41Speaker 1: to put those in words so that we can begin
- 4:43Speaker 1: to magnetize their linked In profile. And when I say magnetized,
- 4:48Speaker 1: I mean to draw people to you. There's certain words
- 4:51Speaker 1: that that attracts people to the profile, and when the
- 4:55Speaker 1: right person finds your profile, they're gonna send you an
- 4:58Speaker 1: invitation to connect, and that's when the relationship can begin.
- 5:01Speaker 1: I believe that because sometimes, you know, I just started
- 5:04Speaker 1: LinkedIn this year. You know, I got almost like five
- 5:07Speaker 1: thousand and connects. And the thing about it is that
- 5:11Speaker 1: I know some weeks not you know, people just joining
- 5:16Speaker 1: me left and right, and then some weeks nobody's joining
- 5:19Speaker 1: me and so right. So it really is tied to
- 5:23Speaker 1: terms and how you present your present, your your profile,
- 5:28Speaker 1: your your your posts. Correct, that's correct, And I think
- 5:31Speaker 1: the key is it has to go beyond the connection.
- 5:35Speaker 1: So you know, we we may have five thousand connections,
- 5:38Speaker 1: but how well do we know those connections? Right? See,
- 5:41Speaker 1: they may be connections, but they're not as strong your
- 5:44Speaker 1: network is not strong if you can't say anything about
- 5:47Speaker 1: them that you know about them personally. And that's my
- 5:50Speaker 1: charge tone. I'm profound that. Now say that one more
- 5:55Speaker 1: time now, because the goal with anything is to get numbers.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Numbers mean something, you know, everybody break, I got a millionaires,
- 6:01Speaker 1: I got a hundred thousand, like I kind of brain
- 6:03Speaker 1: that got five thousands. You say, right, just because you
- 6:07Speaker 1: got five thousands, if you don't know your five thousand,
- 6:10Speaker 1: they're worthless, right, correct, that's right, Yeah, it's I would say,
- 6:15Speaker 1: and they're not worth it. I would say your network
- 6:17Speaker 1: is not as strong. So, for example, you're doing a
- 6:19Speaker 1: major fundraiser helping the people are Houston out. You've you've
- 6:23Speaker 1: got a credit, you've got credibility with the people that
- 6:25Speaker 1: you know. But imagine if those five thousand people don't
- 6:28Speaker 1: really know you and you ask them for your help,
- 6:30Speaker 1: You ask them for help, and they're not gonna respond
- 6:33Speaker 1: because they're like, Okay, I'm connected to you, I like you,
- 6:35Speaker 1: but I don't really know you that well, so I'm
- 6:37Speaker 1: not gonna open up my checkbook. But if you knew them,
- 6:39Speaker 1: if you went deep, if you serve them, and what
- 6:42Speaker 1: happens is you put out a request, they'll jump right
- 6:44Speaker 1: on it because they feel some level of connection to
- 6:48Speaker 1: you personally, not do you just socially, but they feel
- 6:51Speaker 1: connected to you personally, and that's that's something amazing. I
- 6:54Speaker 1: guess that a classic example of connecting to someone personally
- 6:58Speaker 1: the J. J. Watts Hurricane Harvey campaign. You know, he
- 7:02Speaker 1: said I got two fifty dollars. Now he's at thirty
- 7:05Speaker 1: three million dollars, and so now let you know that
- 7:08Speaker 1: the people he connected with those people, that's just a
- 7:11Speaker 1: huge example of how somebody who can connect with you
- 7:14Speaker 1: emotionally will translate into amazing response. And that's basically the
- 7:19Speaker 1: purpose of your company is to find a person or
- 7:23Speaker 1: a company's social media boars Is that correct? That's correct,
- 7:27Speaker 1: and to help them understand how to add value first.
- 7:31Speaker 1: So most people in business, they want to sell, and
- 7:33Speaker 1: there's nothing wrong with selling. There's nothing wrong with it
- 7:35Speaker 1: because if you think about it, if no one sells,
- 7:37Speaker 1: no one eats, right. But there's a way to sell
- 7:40Speaker 1: in a way that people see it as mutually beneficial.
- 7:43Speaker 1: And so it's just a matter of slowing down to
- 7:46Speaker 1: speed up. So I believe that if you find a
- 7:49Speaker 1: way to serve people first. So if I'm able to
- 7:51Speaker 1: serve you and then I can identify a gap that
- 7:54Speaker 1: you have, I'm not selling you now, I'm essentially giving
- 7:58Speaker 1: you an opportunity to buy uslution that solves your problem.
- 8:01Speaker 1: And so that's what I strive to do. I strive
- 8:03Speaker 1: to help my clients to to think differently when it
- 8:06Speaker 1: comes to business development, because if you're not out there paper,
- 8:10Speaker 1: you know, hitting the pavement and building relationships, you know
- 8:13Speaker 1: your business is going to go out of business because
- 8:15Speaker 1: of lack of business. And I go is to put
- 8:17Speaker 1: you in a position that you can attract that using
- 8:19Speaker 1: this tool that we call LinkedIn. Okay, before we go
- 8:22Speaker 1: to break, because I'm bringing Robert. Why be Connects one
- 8:25Speaker 1: of the foremost authorities on the social media platform LinkedIn.
- 8:29Speaker 1: How can one get into contracted with you? Contact with you, Robert?
- 8:33Speaker 1: The best way. The best way is through my website
- 8:35Speaker 1: which is www. Dot y be connects dot com. On
- 8:39Speaker 1: all of the platforms social media wise, they can find
- 8:41Speaker 1: me at why be Connects and uh and I love
- 8:45Speaker 1: connecting with people specifically through LinkedIn, so they can send
- 8:47Speaker 1: me an invitation, let them letting me know that they
- 8:50Speaker 1: heard about me on your show. Well, as long as
- 8:52Speaker 1: they heard about you, that's the goal. That's why I
- 8:54Speaker 1: got brought you back because I know in any type
- 8:56Speaker 1: of business is about consistent awareness. If you can systems
- 9:00Speaker 1: stay in front of somebody, eventually they're gonna ask and
- 9:03Speaker 1: curiosity gonna take over. And you have the ability and
- 9:06Speaker 1: you've shown me you're just watching your post on LinkedIn
- 9:09Speaker 1: that you are aware or how to communicate and share
- 9:13Speaker 1: opportunities and also letting everybody know what's going on in
- 9:16Speaker 1: there why Be connect Space. We've been back with more
- 9:19Speaker 1: with Robert young Blood, who is the founder of why
- 9:22Speaker 1: Be Connects again, one of the foremost authorities on the
- 9:25Speaker 1: social media platform LinkedIn. If you're not listening, to tell
- 9:28Speaker 1: other people they need to listen to because there's money
- 9:30Speaker 1: making conversation on the phone right now. I have but
- 9:33Speaker 1: why Be Connects and I'm gonna keep you houlding out
- 9:36Speaker 1: that title of people understand what I'm trying to do
- 9:39Speaker 1: to you. I'm trying to give you relationships that will
- 9:41Speaker 1: help you in your personal life, in your business life,
- 9:45Speaker 1: and then also your life in general. Because a lot
- 9:47Speaker 1: of people jumping on these social media platforms and not
- 9:50Speaker 1: really understanding. Every time I have an interview on this show,
- 9:53Speaker 1: I've become better educated about what I'm doing it, better
- 9:56Speaker 1: understanding of how I can do it better because it's
- 9:59Speaker 1: a all the I mean you said they work right,
- 10:01Speaker 1: like foolishness going on on social media. Now, what you
- 10:05Speaker 1: don't see on LinkedIn is the kini pictures. You don't
- 10:09Speaker 1: see them, little poses that they see them, little, the
- 10:12Speaker 1: little profile booty shots. You know, did you see on
- 10:15Speaker 1: Facebook and Instagram? You don't see that because on LinkedIn
- 10:18Speaker 1: you trying to get a job or you're trying to
- 10:21Speaker 1: present yourself in the professional manner that you want to speak,
- 10:25Speaker 1: or attract other professional people to communicate with you in
- 10:29Speaker 1: a business format. Again, let me bring back up live
- 10:33Speaker 1: my man Robert young Blow. Robert did I said correctly
- 10:36Speaker 1: that my friends did? I said correctly? You said it
- 10:39Speaker 1: absolutely correctly, and and I believe that if if people
- 10:42Speaker 1: do post those type of pictures, they just have not
- 10:45Speaker 1: understood the fact that LinkedIn is about business and that
- 10:49Speaker 1: that type of business with most people, I look for
- 10:51Speaker 1: that type of business on LinkedIn, So they posting that
- 10:54Speaker 1: that's not that's not appropriate. But I think the key
- 10:57Speaker 1: is really understanding how the network. And I think a
- 10:59Speaker 1: lot of people think they know how the network. But
- 11:03Speaker 1: the truth, the true definition of networking is the ability
- 11:07Speaker 1: to connect with others in a way that you create
- 11:10Speaker 1: mutual benefit. So if it's all about you, it's not networking.
- 11:14Speaker 1: If it's mutually beneficial, then it's about networking. And I
- 11:17Speaker 1: learned that from Dr George Fraser, one of the premier
- 11:21Speaker 1: leaders in networking, who's been teaching that for for years.
- 11:24Speaker 1: And I'm just I'm thankful to be able to take
- 11:26Speaker 1: that message to this new generation. Some days that I
- 11:28Speaker 1: met him, Steve Hardy and I both met him in Cleveland,
- 11:31Speaker 1: went up there for one of his uh, his entrepreneurs.
- 11:33Speaker 1: He was he let's put his way him and Les
- 11:36Speaker 1: Brown been doing his way for anybody else thought about
- 11:39Speaker 1: doing it, you know, motivating people for success. You know. Uh,
- 11:42Speaker 1: George Frasier, who was on has been on this small
- 11:46Speaker 1: entrepreneur tip of opportunities for at least twenty to twenty
- 11:51Speaker 1: five years that I know of, and he's still at
- 11:54Speaker 1: the forefront of it. And for you to say his name,
- 11:56Speaker 1: I just can't let that name just slide by and
- 11:58Speaker 1: not let everybody know. Why did he bring up that name.
- 12:01Speaker 1: He said, google his name. I think phrases spell f
- 12:03Speaker 1: R A N c R correct. That's correct. Yeah, that's correct.
- 12:08Speaker 1: And uh and and he and and so when you
- 12:10Speaker 1: think about those you mentioned, Les Brown. I also got
- 12:13Speaker 1: to give a shout out to another one of my coaches,
- 12:15Speaker 1: Dr Eric Thomas had He was on Yeah ef I preacher,
- 12:20Speaker 1: he's blazing the trail. I'm excited. I'm excited because a
- 12:24Speaker 1: lot of what I'm doing, uh, in terms of just
- 12:27Speaker 1: really enhancing people's lives, has come as a result of
- 12:30Speaker 1: my relationship with ET, being a part of real university,
- 12:33Speaker 1: and also, you know, just being prepared as a speaker.
- 12:36Speaker 1: But you know, the key, the key to all of
- 12:37Speaker 1: that is networking. Is is the relationships that you build.
- 12:41Speaker 1: And it's also understanding exactly what is it you want
- 12:44Speaker 1: to do and where you want to go. And I
- 12:46Speaker 1: tie that back into LinkedIn because if you don't know
- 12:50Speaker 1: what you want and you don't know where you're striving
- 12:52Speaker 1: to go, when you connect with the right person, you're
- 12:55Speaker 1: gonna waste their time. And a lot of times people
- 12:57Speaker 1: are saying they want mentors, but what they need are
- 12:59Speaker 1: they need coaches. There's a big difference between a mentor
- 13:02Speaker 1: and the coach, and a mentor is gonna give you time,
- 13:05Speaker 1: They're gonna show you love. But when you have a coach,
- 13:07Speaker 1: you have to invest in that time and show. When
- 13:09Speaker 1: I work with people, i'm coaching them often have to
- 13:12Speaker 1: ask people with showing that I asked them, can I can?
- 13:14Speaker 1: I may have permission to put my coaching hat on,
- 13:17Speaker 1: which means that I'm gonna talk straight to you. I'm
- 13:20Speaker 1: gonna step on your toes. If you get mad, blame
- 13:22Speaker 1: yourself because you gave me permission to put my coach
- 13:25Speaker 1: and hat on. But that but that's what's needed when
- 13:27Speaker 1: it comes to tools like LinkedIn, because you never get
- 13:30Speaker 1: a second chance to make a first impression, and a
- 13:32Speaker 1: lot of people just don't know what they don't know.
- 13:34Speaker 1: And that's important for you to say that because of
- 13:37Speaker 1: the fact that I've been called arrogant, I've been called
- 13:40Speaker 1: nor at all, I've been called all those terms of
- 13:44Speaker 1: of trying to let everybody know, Okay, this is you.
- 13:47Speaker 1: If you asked me for advice, you asked me to
- 13:49Speaker 1: come in here and run this operation. You've asked me
- 13:52Speaker 1: to produce this and hold your budget in line. But
- 13:55Speaker 1: suddenly your your staff calling me arrogant, your staff calling
- 13:59Speaker 1: me a nor it all because a lot of people
- 14:01Speaker 1: understand is that who you have around you can hold
- 14:04Speaker 1: you back. Who you have around you can stop you
- 14:07Speaker 1: from your next opportunity. And so just because they work
- 14:10Speaker 1: for you, just because they show up all time, don't
- 14:13Speaker 1: mean they have the best interests of your ultimate goal
- 14:17Speaker 1: at heart. And that leads me back to the whole
- 14:19Speaker 1: process of LinkedIn content. What is off limits on content? What?
- 14:25Speaker 1: What should people avoid doing? You know, I'm starting to
- 14:28Speaker 1: see a lot of interesting things on on LinkedIn. People
- 14:32Speaker 1: basically blatantly asking for jobs, people blatantly of promoting themselves.
- 14:39Speaker 1: What is what is? What? What lines of And I'm
- 14:41Speaker 1: gonna go a little deeper after you answer this question
- 14:43Speaker 1: about what happens when you go on LinkedIn? What what?
- 14:46Speaker 1: What are the awful nest area for content on LinkedIn?
- 14:50Speaker 1: So I would say, I would say, you know, definitely,
- 14:53Speaker 1: definitely promote yourself, but promote yourself in the context of
- 14:57Speaker 1: the value you bring to the table. Thank you. I'm
- 15:00Speaker 1: oftentimes job seekers are looking for jobs and they help
- 15:03Speaker 1: post how they selled out three three hundred applications or
- 15:10Speaker 1: sent in things on different job boards, and I always
- 15:14Speaker 1: respond to them, and I say, listen, stop looking for
- 15:16Speaker 1: a job and start finding problems to solve. So I
- 15:21Speaker 1: am i saying don't look for a job now, I'm
- 15:22Speaker 1: not saying that. I'm saying, take your focus from finding
- 15:25Speaker 1: a job and put your focus on finding people who
- 15:28Speaker 1: have problems that you can solve. So, and one of
- 15:31Speaker 1: the things that the content is not posting your problems.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Don't don't post what's going wrong? Post what you need
- 15:38Speaker 1: help with solving? So so post the problem that you
- 15:41Speaker 1: have as it pertains to you know, I need help
- 15:44Speaker 1: with communication, or is anyone here that can help me
- 15:48Speaker 1: enhance my interview skills? But instead most people are posting
- 15:52Speaker 1: what this this recruiter doesn't want to give me a shot,
- 15:54Speaker 1: or this person doesn't want to help me. That that
- 15:56Speaker 1: that's gonna fall on deaf ears. But if you focus
- 15:59Speaker 1: on asking the right questions, like what's the what are
- 16:02Speaker 1: the top ten questions that interviewers ask in an interview,
- 16:06Speaker 1: If you throw those out, people are gonna want to
- 16:08Speaker 1: help you left and right because they've been through the situation.
- 16:11Speaker 1: And you want to be able to create a community
- 16:14Speaker 1: of supporters who can teach you what you need to
- 16:17Speaker 1: know which will put you in the right place. Another
- 16:19Speaker 1: thing is, obviously people talk about avoiding politics and and
- 16:24Speaker 1: UH and religion. It's kind of tough to do nowadays.
- 16:26Speaker 1: I mean, sometimes these social media sites will put that
- 16:28Speaker 1: stuff up there and people will post their opinions. But
- 16:31Speaker 1: I think if you want to if you want to
- 16:33Speaker 1: stand out and let your brand shine, focus on what
- 16:36Speaker 1: you bring to the table, or focus on you know
- 16:39Speaker 1: what challenges you're facing, and look for solutions or people
- 16:42Speaker 1: you know people that can help you with those solutions.
- 16:44Speaker 1: And the solution is the most important. Is that put
- 16:48Speaker 1: you in a position to win. Putting a position to
- 16:50Speaker 1: provide you and information is going to get you the
- 16:52Speaker 1: next of them. Again, before we get out of here,
- 16:55Speaker 1: please Robert, tell everybody how they can connect with you.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Tell everybody you know what is your base purpose or
- 17:00Speaker 1: being on this show. Just just wrap it up in
- 17:03Speaker 1: the nutshell and you know you have access to me anytime.
- 17:07Speaker 1: More importantly, please give me a bann of email A Dell.
