  I'm thinking today of 2 Peter 1, verse 4. 2 Peter

  1, verse 4. We looked at verse 3 last time. And

  verse 3 ends with, by his own glory and goodness.

  Then verse 4, it says, through these he has given

  us his very great and precious promises, so that

  through them you may participate in the divine

  nature, having escaped the corruption in the
• 0:23
  world. caused by evil desires. I guess we've
• 0:26
  got to work this first backwards a little bit
• 0:28
  to understand it really clearly. Where it says
• 0:30
  corruption in the world caused by evil desires,
• 0:32
  we're talking about The things that men want,
• 0:34
  the things that men do that do not honor God,
• 0:36
  that are in contrast to the goodness of God.

  God has a plan for each one of us, and he's trying
• 0:42
  to make us out to be the best version of ourselves,
• 0:44
  far above anything we could hope, dream, or imagine.

  But the world settles in at a place of corruption,
• 0:50
  and that all arises out of their evil desires.

  Remember that God had called us by his own glory
• 0:56
  and goodness, and through these now, he has given
• 0:59
  us... this absolutely wonderful set of promises
• 1:02
  of what he's going to do in us, what he's going
• 1:04
  to accomplish in the long run. And even that
• 1:06
  all of the bad things that we are going through
• 1:08
  will work out for our good eventually, if only
• 1:12
  in that we will be able to comfort others with
• 1:14
  the comfort that we are comforted. Basically...

  Through these great promises, we can participate
• 1:19
  in the divine nature. God is so good to make
• 1:22
  us over, when we're willing, into his image,
• 1:25
  into the image of Christ and the image of God.
• 1:27
  Praise the Lord. We're on our way.
