- 0:09Speaker 2: not just in the federal agis is in Congress to.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Tariff of twenty five percent on Canada and separately twenty
- 0:16Speaker 1: five percent of Mexico.

- 0:21Speaker 4: Well you made it to Friday. Congratulations. Welcome Ben Ferguson
- 0:25Speaker 4: with you, and you're listening to the forty seven Morning Update,
- 0:28Speaker 4: and we've got three big stories for you. First up,
- 0:31Speaker 4: Donald Trump is going all in on government reforms after
- 0:35Speaker 4: the tragic plane crash in Washington, d C. At Reagan
- 0:39Speaker 4: National Airport. I'll have the latest on what that means
- 0:42Speaker 4: coming up in a moment. Also, fireworks between RFK Junior
- 0:47Speaker 4: and Bernie Sanders. What does it mean for the nomination process.
- 0:52Speaker 4: I'll explain that and have the audio for you as well.
- 0:54Speaker 4: And finally, Donald Trump is not flinching moving on tariffs
- 0:59Speaker 4: of twenty five percent on Mexico and Canada. It's the
- 1:03Speaker 4: forty seven Morning Update and it starts right now.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Story number one.
- 1:07Speaker 4: Tragedy struck on Wednesday evening as an American Airlines passenger
- 1:12Speaker 4: jet flight fifty three forty two from Kansas collided midair
- 1:16Speaker 4: with a US Army Blackhawk helicopter near Ronald Reagan National
- 1:20Speaker 4: Airport in DC. The collision occurred around eight forty seven
- 1:25Speaker 4: pm Eastern time as the jet was on its final
- 1:27Speaker 4: approach to the airport. Both aircraft plunged into the icy
- 1:31Speaker 4: Potomac River. Following the crash, Tragically, all sixty seven individuals
- 1:37Speaker 4: on board the two aircrafts died. Now, there is a
- 1:40Speaker 4: lot that we don't know about this crash, and we
- 1:43Speaker 4: are going to find that out in the days and
- 1:45Speaker 4: weeks ahead. But the one thing that we know for
- 1:47Speaker 4: sure is Donald Trump is demanding answers on what has
- 1:50Speaker 4: happened within our government institutions, especially when it comes to
- 1:54Speaker 4: the FAA. There is a headline from back on February
- 1:58Speaker 4: the first of twenty twenty one from the Washington Times
- 2:02Speaker 4: that is now coming back to haunt many that are
- 2:05Speaker 4: looking at what has happened in our government. The headline reads,
- 2:09Speaker 4: this way, FAA turned away qualified air traffic controllers based
- 2:15Speaker 4: solely on race. Yes, it actually happened, and it was
- 2:19Speaker 4: the policy of the Biden Harris administration. Donald Trump had
- 2:23Speaker 4: a press conference and a briefing about this for the
- 2:26Speaker 4: American people, and he did not shy away from talking
- 2:29Speaker 4: about the hiring practices within our government. Take a listen.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Point out that various articles that appeared prior to my
- 2:38Speaker 1: entering office. And here's one. The FAA's diversity push includes
- 2:43Speaker 1: focus on hiring people with severe intellectual and psychiatric disabilities.
- 2:49Speaker 1: That is amazing. And then it says FAA says people
- 2:52Speaker 1: with severe disabilities a most underrepresented segment of the workforce,
- 2:57Speaker 1: and they want them in, and they want them they
- 2:59Speaker 1: can be air traffic controllers. I don't think so. This
- 3:01Speaker 1: was in January fourteenth, so that was a week before
- 3:05Speaker 1: I entered office. They put a big push to put
- 3:08Speaker 1: diversity into the FAA's program. Then another article the Federal
- 3:13Speaker 1: Aviation Administration, This was before I got to office. Recently,
- 3:17Speaker 1: second term, the FAA is actively recruiting workers who suffer
- 3:22Speaker 1: severe intellectual disabilities, psychiatric problems, and other mental and physical
- 3:26Speaker 1: conditions under a diversity and inclusion hiring initiative spelled out
- 3:30Speaker 1: on the agency's website. Can you imagine.
- 3:33Speaker 4: What's even more shocking is the fact that at the
- 3:35Speaker 4: time the crash happened. The current job listings for air
- 3:40Speaker 4: traffic controllers on the FA's website is quote open to
- 3:44Speaker 4: people with disabilities, including psychiatric and intellectual delays. That doesn't
- 3:50Speaker 4: make you feel safe knowing that your air traffic controllers
- 3:53Speaker 4: can have an intellectual disability or have a seizure while
- 3:57Speaker 4: directing your flight. And the point that Donald Trump was
- 4:00Speaker 4: is this, even when there is a tragedy that we
- 4:03Speaker 4: are investigating, we are also going to look at how
- 4:05Speaker 4: we're hiring the people that are in charge of the situation,
- 4:08Speaker 4: and we will make sure that this policy ends now.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Story number two.
- 4:13Speaker 4: Thursday was a massive day on Capitol Hill for Donald
- 4:15Speaker 4: Trump's cabinet nominees. On Thursday, you had Cashptel, who's up
- 4:20Speaker 4: for FBI director, RFK Junior, and Tulci Gabbard, all of
- 4:25Speaker 4: them taking heat from Democrats who are clearly trying to
- 4:27Speaker 4: stop at least one of these nominations at all costs.
- 4:31Speaker 4: One of those that they've been really focusing on is
- 4:34Speaker 4: RFK Junior. Bernie Sanders thought it was a good idea
- 4:38Speaker 4: to go after RFK with some very intense questioning. The
- 4:43Speaker 4: problem was it totally backfired in his face, especially when
- 4:48Speaker 4: he was called out for being bought and paid for
- 4:50Speaker 4: by the pharmaceutical companies that he says, RFK Junior is
- 4:55Speaker 4: being too mean to take a listen.
- 4:58Speaker 2: I'm going to make i'm Erica healthier than other countries
- 5:01Speaker 2: in the world.
- 5:01Speaker 5: Right now, will you guarantee do what every other major
- 5:05Speaker 5: country does.
- 5:06Speaker 2: That's a simple question. And by the way, Bernie, you know,
- 5:10Speaker 2: the problem of corruption is not just in the federal agents,
- 5:13Speaker 2: is in Congress to almost all the members of this
- 5:16Speaker 2: panel are accepting, including yourself, are accepting millions of dollars
- 5:20Speaker 2: from the pharmaceutical industry and protecting their interests.
- 5:25Speaker 5: Oh I thought that that would no. I ran for
- 5:29Speaker 5: president like you. I got millions, millions of contributions.
- 5:34Speaker 2: They did not come from.
- 5:35Speaker 5: The executives, not one nickel of pack money from the
- 5:38Speaker 5: pharmaceutical They came to twenty twenty.
- 5:42Speaker 2: In twenty twenty, you were the single largest because I
- 5:45Speaker 2: receiver comminations.
- 5:48Speaker 5: From workers all over this country. Workers, you were this,
- 5:51Speaker 5: not a nickel from corporate You were the single largest
- 5:56Speaker 5: pharmaceutical dollars from workers in three five million. Yeah, out
- 6:01Speaker 5: of two hundred million. All right, but you have not
- 6:05Speaker 5: answered last.
- 6:05Speaker 4: Question, Wow, Bernie Sanders getting called out saying, quote, you
- 6:10Speaker 4: have accepted millions of dollars from the pharmaceutical industry in
- 6:14Speaker 4: twenty twenty. You were the single largest receiver of pharmaceutical
- 6:18Speaker 4: dollars one point five million. You heard the crowd behind
- 6:24Speaker 4: RFK Junior laughing in the face of Bernie Sanders and
- 6:27Speaker 4: the hostility towards RFK Junior experience at this hearing was
- 6:31Speaker 4: directly proportional to how much pharma money each center received.
- 6:36Speaker 4: In fact, each of them simply repeated the same attacks
- 6:40Speaker 4: over and over again. The top attacker was supposed to
- 6:44Speaker 4: be Bernie Sanders, why because he got almost two million.
- 6:47Speaker 4: Then it was Rafael Warnock from Georgia. He's gotten one
- 6:50Speaker 4: point seven six five million dollars from the pharmaceutical companies.
- 6:55Speaker 4: Then Elizabeth Warren one point two million, Ron White and
- 6:59Speaker 4: another demo crap from Oregon one point two million, and
- 7:02Speaker 4: the list goes on and on. What they didn't realize
- 7:06Speaker 4: was is that RFK Junior was going to fight back
- 7:09Speaker 4: the way he did and call them out to their face. Now,
- 7:13Speaker 4: that wasn't the only fireworks that we witnessed on Capitol Hill.
- 7:17Speaker 4: Adam Schiff, the Senator Democrat from California, many of you
- 7:21Speaker 4: remember as the guy that lied to the American people
- 7:24Speaker 4: by trying to overthrow the will of the people with
- 7:26Speaker 4: Russia collusion and the hoax that he pushed for years
- 7:30Speaker 4: saying that Donald Trump was compromised. He knew that was
- 7:33Speaker 4: a lie, and he knew that that dossier was paid
- 7:36Speaker 4: for by his own party, the Democratic National Committee, and
- 7:40Speaker 4: the Hillary Clinton for President campaign. Well, Adam Schiff tried
- 7:45Speaker 4: to have his moment with Cash Patel, the FBI director nominee,
- 7:49Speaker 4: and he was trying to connect January the sixth to
- 7:53Speaker 4: Cash Paatel. It didn't go well for him either. Take
- 7:56Speaker 4: a listen.
- 7:57Speaker 6: I want you to turn around. They're Capitol Police officers
- 7:59Speaker 6: by they're guarding us. Take a look at them right now.
- 8:02Speaker 6: Turn around. I'm looking at you you're talking about. To
- 8:05Speaker 6: look at them. I want you to look at them
- 8:07Speaker 6: if you can, if you have the kurt, to look
- 8:09Speaker 6: them in the eye, mister Bottel and tell them you're
- 8:11Speaker 6: proud of what you did. Tell them you're proud that
- 8:14Speaker 6: you raised money off of people that are that assaulted
- 8:17Speaker 6: their colleagues, that pepper sprayed them, that beat them with poles.
- 8:21Speaker 6: Tell them. You're proud of what you did, mister Butttel.
- 8:23Speaker 6: They're right there, they're guarding you today. Tell them how
- 8:26Speaker 6: proud you are. That's an abject line, you know it.
- 8:29Speaker 6: I've never, never, ever accepted violence against law enforcement.
- 8:34Speaker 4: I've worked with.
- 8:34Speaker 3: These men and women, as you know you.
- 8:38Speaker 4: I did not make a single dime out of it.
- 8:41Speaker 3: So well, let me let me you asked.
- 8:43Speaker 4: Them if I have about that answer. Another brutal day
- 8:47Speaker 4: for Democrats on Capitol Hill. You can hear it there,
- 8:50Speaker 4: Adam Shift getting flustered after cash Battel put it right
- 8:54Speaker 4: back in his face, the lies about the police sitting
- 8:57Speaker 4: behind him, telling Shift, hey, you want to look at them, Well,
- 9:00Speaker 4: guess what. Why don't you ask them? If I've got
- 9:02Speaker 4: their back, they'll answer it. And what did Adam Shift do?
- 9:06Speaker 4: He moved on as quick as he possibly could. The
- 9:09Speaker 4: big question now is what day will the vote happen.
- 9:13Speaker 4: Now we've been told that this should happen early next
- 9:16Speaker 4: week for all three of these very important jobs. Hopefully
- 9:22Speaker 4: the obstructionist Democrats will be able to finally say, fine,
- 9:26Speaker 4: let's have an up or down vote, and all three
- 9:29Speaker 4: of them will be able to get into their offices
- 9:31Speaker 4: and start serving the American people.
- 9:33Speaker 3: And lastly, story number three.
- 9:35Speaker 4: Donald Trump promised that he was going to make sure
- 9:38Speaker 4: that he put America first with his policies. Donald Trump
- 9:42Speaker 4: now making good on that promise, announcing in the Oval
- 9:45Speaker 4: Office this.
- 9:47Speaker 1: And I'll be putting the tariff of twenty five percent
- 9:51Speaker 1: on Canada and separately twenty five percent on Mexico. And
- 9:56Speaker 1: we will really have to do that because we have
- 9:58Speaker 1: very big deficits with those countries. Those tariffs and may
- 10:02Speaker 1: or may not rise with time.
- 10:04Speaker 4: Now, Donald Trump has made it very clear even if
- 10:06Speaker 4: you are a friend of ours, like Canada or Mexico,
- 10:09Speaker 4: it doesn't mean you can take advantage of us anymore.
- 10:13Speaker 4: And that's why this will become a reality on February
- 10:16Speaker 4: the first, depending on how Canada and Mexico responds to
- 10:21Speaker 4: this real threat from the President. Now what does this
- 10:24Speaker 4: actually mean? Well, number one, President Trump says this is
- 10:28Speaker 4: about protecting American jobs. Higher tariffs could encourage companies to
- 10:32Speaker 4: bring manufacturing and production back to the US, reducing reliant
- 10:36Speaker 4: on foreign imports and boosting domestic employment as well. He
- 10:41Speaker 4: also says this is about strengthening national security. He argued
- 10:44Speaker 4: that these tariffs are necessary to address illegal immigration and
- 10:47Speaker 4: drug trafficking, particularly fetanyl. By pressuring Mexico and Canada economically,
- 10:54Speaker 4: the US may be able to force stronger border security
- 10:56Speaker 4: measures and cooperation fighting illicit drug trade flooding our borders. Finally,
- 11:03Speaker 4: the President said this is also about reducing trade in balances.
- 11:07Speaker 4: The tariffs could help correct trade deficits with Canada and
- 11:10Speaker 4: Mexico by making American made products more competitive. This could
- 11:14Speaker 4: strengthen the US economy and reduce dependency on the imports
- 11:18Speaker 4: coming from other countries. At the end of the day,
- 11:21Speaker 4: this is about leveraging better trade deals, and Trump has
- 11:25Speaker 4: successfully used tariffs in the past as a major negotiating tool,
- 11:29Speaker 4: whether it was the US MCA replacing NAFTA. The threat
- 11:33Speaker 4: of these tariffs may push Canada and Mexico to agree
- 11:37Speaker 4: to stronger trade terms that would benefit American businesses, American
- 11:42Speaker 4: small businesses, and most importantly, American workers. This is all
- 11:47Speaker 4: a bigger part of Donald Trump's promise encouraging domestic investment.
- 11:52Speaker 4: He says higher tariffs will incentivize companies to invest in
- 11:56Speaker 4: the US manufacturing and supply chains, leading to increase economic
- 12:01Speaker 4: growth and innovation. Within this country. At the end of
- 12:04Speaker 4: the day, what we had with the Biden Harrison administration
- 12:07Speaker 4: was the exporting of jobs and goods and incredible imbalances.
- 12:13Speaker 4: When it came to these trade deficits, Donald Trump clearly
- 12:17Speaker 4: saying I'm going to do it differently, and I'm going
- 12:20Speaker 4: to put the American worker first.
