- 3:15Speaker 1: do for you today? What did you do for yourself today?
- 3:18Speaker 1: How money making conversation was effective. It's not what's up
- 3:21Speaker 1: in the sky. It's right down here on earth where
- 3:25Speaker 1: the changes have to happen. Looking through a pinhole to
- 3:28Speaker 1: see the sun. That's not gonna happen for you because
- 3:33Speaker 1: it's not necessary. The reality is is that that's a
- 3:37Speaker 1: big deal today, But what about tomorrow? What about next week?
- 3:42Speaker 1: That's what money making conversations is about. So let's start
- 3:46Speaker 1: sharing this Facebook page right now. Let's start downloading that
- 3:50Speaker 1: k Y and d app right now and listen to me.
- 3:53Speaker 1: If you're listening, go to the Facebook page and see
- 3:56Speaker 1: how much energy I put into the show. I'm dancing

- 4:08Speaker 1: you up in the sky. I'll be flying home today.
- 4:13Speaker 1: I might even worry about that. I'm my producer to say,
- 4:16Speaker 1: what you're gonna do about their clips that they were Shawn,
- 4:18Speaker 1: you wanna want me to video and anything so we
- 4:20Speaker 1: can play it back on Facebook. I said no, no,
- 4:24Speaker 1: we ain't doing that today because guess what I want
- 4:26Speaker 1: you to call me today eight three two two three
- 4:30Speaker 1: zero five five nine two. That's a three two two
- 4:35Speaker 1: three zero five five nine two. You can hear me
- 4:38Speaker 1: on our Heart Radio podcast just going to business finance section.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Our Heart Radio podcast going to business finance section and
- 4:46Speaker 1: you can see money making conversations. You can hear me
- 4:49Speaker 1: on k Y and d app and watch me on
- 4:52Speaker 1: my Facebook page. Like I told you, leave your thoughts
- 4:54Speaker 1: in the comment section. Leave your thoughts because I'm talking
- 4:57Speaker 1: about overcoming stereotype. That's my show was about overcoming stereotypes.
- 5:04Speaker 1: In my case, racial branding. Oh sean, racial branding. All
- 5:10Speaker 1: we got to we're about to march. We're about to
- 5:12Speaker 1: get a controversial. No, no, no no, you said, what
- 5:15Speaker 1: does stereotypes have to do with money making conversations? Because
- 5:19Speaker 1: what people think you can what people think about you
- 5:23Speaker 1: and cause your money could slow your career and most
- 5:26Speaker 1: importantly calls you to believe that this is the best
- 5:30Speaker 1: that you can be. That's what stereotyping can do. And
- 5:34Speaker 1: if you fall into the box a stereotyping, then guess
- 5:38Speaker 1: what you might not climb out. In fact, you might
- 5:40Speaker 1: not know how to climb out. See I've climbed out
- 5:42Speaker 1: the box. And every time I feel like that lead
- 5:46Speaker 1: it's coming is trying to slip back over my box,
- 5:48Speaker 1: I knock it off because I'm having none of it.
- 5:51Speaker 1: I'm not having my color, I'm not having my gender,
- 5:55Speaker 1: I'm not having my age stopped me from being successful.
- 5:58Speaker 1: My name is Rashan mcdah. That's what you should be
- 6:01Speaker 1: working on, the importance of your name, developing the brand
- 6:05Speaker 1: of your name, because your name has no race, your
- 6:09Speaker 1: name has no gender, your name has no age. But
- 6:13Speaker 1: what's happening is you believe that because of who you are,
- 6:17Speaker 1: well you, how you grew up, what they told you
- 6:20Speaker 1: you could be, is what you should be. That's what
- 6:22Speaker 1: stereo typing this about. I'm gonna tell you about meside myself.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Let's let's get personal about this. Let's lord died a
- 6:28Speaker 1: little bit. Can you can you hear me talking? Can
- 6:31Speaker 1: you hear me? Look me, look me in the camera?
- 6:33Speaker 1: Can you hear on the radio? Leave the comments? When
- 6:35Speaker 1: I started talking about this, I'm a victim of racial branding.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Understand that when I say that means that somebody told
- 6:43Speaker 1: me this is who I was. I didn't get a
- 6:45Speaker 1: chance to vote on it. I didn't get a chance
- 6:48Speaker 1: to even comment on it. I was born a Negro,
- 6:52Speaker 1: I was raised a black man, and I became an
- 6:55Speaker 1: African American. I've changed my racial identity so many times
- 7:00Speaker 1: apps that the N double a CP can't keep up
- 7:02Speaker 1: with it. They still colored people. That's what you talk
- 7:06Speaker 1: That's what I'm talking about. When people can sit around
- 7:09Speaker 1: in the room and tell you this is who you are.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Nobody gave me the option to raise my hand. It's
- 7:15Speaker 1: the head. I want to be white. I want to
- 7:18Speaker 1: be white because can I be white? Can I just
- 7:21Speaker 1: be white? Because if I know if I'm white right now,
- 7:23Speaker 1: I can image my my average annual salary go up
- 7:27Speaker 1: ten thousand dollars. But nobody gives me the option because
- 7:30Speaker 1: they're stereotyped that I can't be white. So what does
- 7:33Speaker 1: that mean that if I can't be white? But you
- 7:37Speaker 1: can think why you can live a white lifestyle. You
- 7:41Speaker 1: can do things that economically tell you this is the
- 7:44Speaker 1: positive direction you're supposed to take your life. Are you're
- 7:46Speaker 1: saying you said white it's right. No, I'm saying you
- 7:49Speaker 1: are right. Your name is right, your brand is right,
- 7:52Speaker 1: who you want to be is right. But because we're
- 7:54Speaker 1: stereotype and we put people in genders, we put people
- 7:57Speaker 1: in in racial stereotypes of people in certain ages. You're
- 8:01Speaker 1: pointing a room or corner over you can look at people. Oh,
- 8:03Speaker 1: don't go over there, that's them young people. Look at
- 8:06Speaker 1: their pants, look at the way they dressed. There's a
- 8:09Speaker 1: type of music they're listening to. Those are stereotypes. So
- 8:12Speaker 1: it's up to you to be able to break those stereotypes.
- 8:16Speaker 1: How do you break those stereotypes? While you up there
- 8:18Speaker 1: looking at the sun, need to be listening to Roshan McDonald.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Roshan McDonald. It's created money making conversations to stop you
- 8:26Speaker 1: from living in that box, that stereotype box that you
- 8:30Speaker 1: allow to lead clothes. I'm gonna tell you something. Six usters,
- 8:39Speaker 1: two brothers. That's right. Father truck driver may may have
- 8:45Speaker 1: gotten out of elementary school. I don't know. Mom graduate
- 8:49Speaker 1: from high school. That's it. Lived in fifth Ward, fear War.
- 8:55Speaker 1: If you live in the Houston area, you're very familiar
- 8:57Speaker 1: with fear War Fiar War. Does any low in economic
- 9:01Speaker 1: lee poverished black community. There's in every major city in America,
- 9:07Speaker 1: or they tell you if you go in there, don't
- 9:09Speaker 1: go in there too late at night. If you park
- 9:12Speaker 1: your car on the street, make sure you don't keep
- 9:15Speaker 1: it there overnight. It's that type of neighborhood. I can
- 9:18Speaker 1: say that now because when I drive in the neighborhood
- 9:20Speaker 1: now there have been some changes. But the house that
- 9:22Speaker 1: I grew up now has a giant fence around it,
- 9:25Speaker 1: so I know they changed that much. They got a
- 9:29Speaker 1: giant fence around it. You can't even get to the
- 9:30Speaker 1: door in the more. When I grew up, at least
- 9:32Speaker 1: you could walk through the door knock on it. You
- 9:34Speaker 1: can't even knock on the door anymore. I got a
- 9:36Speaker 1: giant chain link fence around big pit bullwh That's so
- 9:42Speaker 1: I know it hadn't changed. So what has was sewing?
- 9:45Speaker 1: That Donald got? Not that box? Ah? Is he gotten
- 9:48Speaker 1: not that box? Because guess what? Rashaan didn't want to
- 9:51Speaker 1: be in the box. Oh, that's so easy to say.
- 9:55Speaker 1: That's so easy to tell you. That's so easy. Called
- 9:58Speaker 1: me now, I your person a three two two three
- 10:03Speaker 1: zero five five not too If you don't believe, I'll
- 10:05Speaker 1: talk to your person. But see, but see, everybody wants
- 10:09Speaker 1: to make up a statement. Everybody wants to talk about
- 10:11Speaker 1: being successful, but nobody wants to put forth, effort and
- 10:14Speaker 1: put place a plan. So how do you overcome any
- 10:17Speaker 1: type of stereo type? What is? You do it by
- 10:22Speaker 1: setting goals you can reach. That's the number one thing
- 10:26Speaker 1: I hear people coming there. I want to be a millionaire.
- 10:28Speaker 1: I don't know what that means. I want to be successful.
- 10:32Speaker 1: I don't know what that means because that's not really
- 10:34Speaker 1: a goal. That's a statement. That's a statement, and that's
- 10:38Speaker 1: what people start falling off the ship of success because
- 10:42Speaker 1: they'd be making statements they don't even make sense to
- 10:45Speaker 1: to the average person. So when you make a statement
- 10:47Speaker 1: without a goal, guess what, people just ignore you. I'm
- 10:50Speaker 1: gonna tell you a little story about myself when I
- 10:54Speaker 1: was working for this company, not gonna call a name.
- 10:57Speaker 1: When I came on board, I was one of the
- 10:59Speaker 1: top employer yeast. I was on the top employees. Came
- 11:04Speaker 1: on board with a couple of more people who who
- 11:06Speaker 1: are white, and came in and said, now, with my supervisor,
- 11:11Speaker 1: he said, what do you want to do with the company?
- 11:13Speaker 1: Was sean? I said, I don't know, let me think
- 11:15Speaker 1: about it. He said, fine, but please come back and
- 11:20Speaker 1: tell me what you want to do, because we need
- 11:21Speaker 1: to set your goals in place, so we can, you know,
- 11:24Speaker 1: pre create structure so you can meet the goals that
- 11:26Speaker 1: you have for the company, because the company has goals
- 11:28Speaker 1: for you, but we can only move you along based
- 11:31Speaker 1: on the pacing that you feel comfortable with. That's a
- 11:34Speaker 1: great That sounded really good. So six months later I
- 11:38Speaker 1: still hadn't went back and talked to him, kind of
- 11:41Speaker 1: actually forgot the conversation I had with him. But the
- 11:44Speaker 1: two of the white guys, they were moving up the
- 11:47Speaker 1: food chain, they were moving past me. So my first
- 11:51Speaker 1: thought was, it's a racial discrimination going on here. So
- 11:59Speaker 1: I got to talk to my little buddies. I said,
- 12:01Speaker 1: I'm going there and tell him piece of my mind. Hi,
- 12:04Speaker 1: They're gonna move in front of me. And I know
- 12:06Speaker 1: I'm working just as hard or and I know I
- 12:09Speaker 1: come to work on time, and I know I'm just
- 12:11Speaker 1: as smart. I came from a prestigious university. My degree
- 12:16Speaker 1: was in mathematics. I the honors opportunities while I was
- 12:22Speaker 1: in college that I made the Dean's list. But what
- 12:26Speaker 1: I didn't do was this. So I'll marched back in
- 12:29Speaker 1: that office and sat down my supervisor and I kind
- 12:32Speaker 1: of told him my mind. I said I appreciate the
- 12:36Speaker 1: other two guys moving so fast, and I'm still sitting
- 12:39Speaker 1: in my desk, he said, were sean? He pulled the
- 12:43Speaker 1: fire out, he said, when we said down, I asked
- 12:46Speaker 1: you what you wanted to do, and you told me
- 12:49Speaker 1: you're gonna get back with me later. Well, guess what.
- 12:52Speaker 1: It's not my job to hunt you down and build
- 12:55Speaker 1: your dreams. It's not my job to tell you how
- 12:59Speaker 1: sex else where you can be because I don't know
- 13:01Speaker 1: how much work you're willing to put out. It's not
- 13:04Speaker 1: my job, yeah, to criticize you for not wanting to
- 13:09Speaker 1: be successful. So my next question to him was, so
- 13:15Speaker 1: what am I supposed to do? Tell me what you
- 13:18Speaker 1: want to do? So I left the room different attitude
- 13:24Speaker 1: now because guess what, he put it back on me.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Where it's always gonna be on you. There's the problem
- 13:29Speaker 1: is that people don't understand that to be successful, it's
- 13:33Speaker 1: always on you. It's never on other people. If you
- 13:36Speaker 1: don't have a goal, if you don't set a goal
- 13:38Speaker 1: you can reach, if you don't if you don't have
- 13:40Speaker 1: standards that you can keep elevating, never allowing the stereotype
- 13:44Speaker 1: to define who you are or what you can become
- 13:47Speaker 1: at that moment. That's just a small slice of my
- 13:49Speaker 1: life I'm telling you all about, but it was a
- 13:52Speaker 1: defining moment because I repeat that story to anybody who
- 13:56Speaker 1: tells me, oh man, I can't be successful. Oh man,
- 14:01Speaker 1: ra Sean, you know you you've always had it going
- 14:03Speaker 1: on or with Sean, you know you're just a natural
- 14:06Speaker 1: at this Rachean, you're just a special talent. I'm all
- 14:10Speaker 1: those things. But I also know if you don't put
- 14:14Speaker 1: action in motion, then there's no results. If you don't
- 14:18Speaker 1: lock down an opportunity to be successful and talk to
- 14:21Speaker 1: people who can make you successful, then guess what you'd
- 14:23Speaker 1: be frustrating If you're picking up trash on the garbage truck.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Guess what, there's a driver. You don't have to pick
- 14:32Speaker 1: up the trash. You can drive the truck if that's
- 14:34Speaker 1: your goal. If you drive the truck, you can eventually
- 14:37Speaker 1: be telling other people and signing them to the truck
- 14:39Speaker 1: to go audience. If that's your goal, I know, because
- 14:42Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell I'll tell you about my stories. So
- 14:44Speaker 1: I'll tell you about my adventures. What what I'm in. Second,
- 14:47Speaker 1: we got a level? Good? Go out now? One more minute?
- 14:50Speaker 1: I want to just say this to everybody while you're
- 14:52Speaker 1: out there looking at that sun today and they're gonna
- 14:55Speaker 1: go away. They called it the clips got home Girl
- 14:59Speaker 1: singing her song holding Eclipse of the Heart. Ain't got
- 15:02Speaker 1: nothing to do with soun, but she's singing it. Know this,
- 15:06Speaker 1: the facts of life will not change. When you look up,
- 15:10Speaker 1: all your efforts are being successful right here on the ground.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Keep looking forward. Don't look at your feet, don't look up,
- 15:17Speaker 1: don't look left from right right now, look forward, look
- 15:20Speaker 1: at Listen to me. I'm telling you how you can
- 15:23Speaker 1: be successful. I'm telling you the goals that you're setting forth,
- 15:26Speaker 1: that you set forth in life. I'm gonna tell you
- 15:28Speaker 1: about my mistakes because my mistakes will let you know that.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Guess what, I'm not perfect and not trying to create
- 15:33Speaker 1: a dream so I can sound like I'm perfect. I'm
- 15:36Speaker 1: just letting you know. Money making conversations created for you,
- 15:39Speaker 1: So do your job. I'm here every Monday. Tell everybody
- 15:43Speaker 1: everybody was showing mcdown is on the radio with money
- 15:46Speaker 1: make conversation. Tell everybody came Rashaan McDonald eight three two
- 15:50Speaker 1: two three zero five five Not to tell everybody on
- 15:54Speaker 1: your Facebook page lead comments about how Rashan McDonald can
- 15:58Speaker 1: change your life, how he's trying to change your like,
- 16:00Speaker 1: how he hear everything. I've been following him for two years.
- 16:03Speaker 1: He's been talking like this. He ain't no flash in
- 16:06Speaker 1: the pain. This brother really serious. I am about taking
- 16:11Speaker 1: you to the next level. I'm gonna be right back
- 16:12Speaker 1: from a man. He's the Chess king, World Championship, chess guy.
- 16:16Speaker 1: I've been knowing this guy so many years and he's
- 16:18Speaker 1: been I still don't know how to play chess, but
- 16:20Speaker 1: guess what I admire how he's changing lives in the
- 16:24Speaker 1: entrepreneurial world and young people of America with the game
- 16:27Speaker 1: of chess. Be right back with more money making conversation.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Don't go nowhere, overcoming stereotypes. That's what we're about, money
- 16:34Speaker 1: making conversations. Be right back. Come on now, just Sean McDonald,
- 16:42Speaker 1: you're listening to money making conversation. My next guest is
- 16:46Speaker 1: a farmer, small time crook, gang members, state trooper, Air
- 16:50Speaker 1: Force better and well known chess champions. He's trained over
- 16:53Speaker 1: fifty five thousand students in the games chess. Hutson's ultimate
- 16:58Speaker 1: vision to see one million at risk students get their
- 17:01Speaker 1: heads up, hands up, grades up and most important of all,
- 17:05Speaker 1: never give up no matter what. Please welcome the money
- 17:08Speaker 1: making conversations. I want to call my friends or in
- 17:11Speaker 1: chessmaker checkmate. How you doing, Lauren? Yeah, I can hear
- 17:17Speaker 1: your brother, hear me a favorite. Just tell everybody about
- 17:19Speaker 1: you right quickly. Well, my name is organ Us and
- 17:22Speaker 1: I thank God for you Russian Rashan, And I'm living
- 17:25Speaker 1: my dream because teaching the kids make my heart sing.
- 17:27Speaker 1: I used the game of chess to teach young people
- 17:29Speaker 1: how to dream and how to think things through, how
- 17:32Speaker 1: to have a plan and not to have a hitting agenda.
- 17:35Speaker 1: And if your agenda is hitting, make sure it's about
- 17:37Speaker 1: serving others. When you're have an agenda of serving people,
- 17:40Speaker 1: you win. And that's what I teach. You win by giving,
- 17:43Speaker 1: and you win by serving others. Now, now we've been
- 17:46Speaker 1: knowing each other a long time, and just to explain
- 17:49Speaker 1: to people why it's significant the game of how significant
- 17:52Speaker 1: the game of chess plays in a business world from
- 17:55Speaker 1: a strategic standpoint, and also how you use it to
- 17:58Speaker 1: change their minds and build them by as young people.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Chance is about having a game plan and recognizing patterns.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Pattern recognition allow you to plan, prepare, position, and predict
- 18:09Speaker 1: so you can prevent pretty poor performance. So you can
- 18:12Speaker 1: have a power, prestige and perspective on what's going on.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Allows you to be a profit because you see what's
- 18:18Speaker 1: coming next. So chess is about looking at patterns, studying
- 18:22Speaker 1: the patterns, and you're able to position yourself to win
- 18:25Speaker 1: because you know what's coming next. But the key to
- 18:28Speaker 1: winning in chess is getting your head in the game now.
- 18:32Speaker 1: So so that basically chess is kind of like a
- 18:36Speaker 1: business model. Then exactly, it's a model. It's a model
- 18:40Speaker 1: for success because you know what's coming next. You know
- 18:44Speaker 1: that you've got to plan, you know that you've got
- 18:46Speaker 1: to provide value, and you have to make moves that
- 18:48Speaker 1: have a hidden agenda because if you don't, the competition
- 18:52Speaker 1: will block you. And that's why I want people to understand,
- 18:54Speaker 1: because see, there are so many ways. The reason I've
- 18:57Speaker 1: created money making conversations create options for people. Or that's
- 19:01Speaker 1: the key to this show, and that's why you're on
- 19:03Speaker 1: the show. Because so many people think that they see
- 19:06Speaker 1: somebody being successful one way and they think that's the
- 19:08Speaker 1: platform they can follow. I'm just trying to bring common
- 19:11Speaker 1: sense to the to every game, you know, whether you're
- 19:14Speaker 1: playing checkers, where you're playing chess, or you're playing the
- 19:16Speaker 1: game of backta, it's all a competition and every everything,
- 19:20Speaker 1: everything has a mental part of it that you have
- 19:22Speaker 1: to be able to win at. And that's what chess
- 19:24Speaker 1: is all about, the mental parts. Not being physically stronger
- 19:27Speaker 1: singing or tap dancing or being able to pick up
- 19:30Speaker 1: a one thousand pounds, it's the mental part that you're
- 19:34Speaker 1: trying to educate people on. Correct It's nine mental. And
- 19:39Speaker 1: I like what you said about options, because checkmate means
- 19:42Speaker 1: you out of options. If you long as you have options,
- 19:45Speaker 1: you in the game. When you have no more options left,
- 19:49Speaker 1: that's game over, that's checkmate. So you gotta say you
- 19:52Speaker 1: gotta learn your options. That's why education is so important.
- 19:55Speaker 1: That's why I like your show. Your show is bringing
- 19:57Speaker 1: so much value to people and knowledge that gives people
- 20:00Speaker 1: options on how to make money and how to dream
- 20:03Speaker 1: and how to how to be a champion and never
- 20:05Speaker 1: give up stay in the game. And I'm just I
- 20:08Speaker 1: want to point him out about Mr Hutson, is that
- 20:11Speaker 1: his personalities here. A lot of people, a lot of
- 20:13Speaker 1: people have talent, a lot of people have the ability
- 20:16Speaker 1: to be successful, but they fall short on personality. I've
- 20:20Speaker 1: never wants, and I've seen him in some frustrating situations,
- 20:23Speaker 1: not wants that he ever have a negative spirit. Please
- 20:26Speaker 1: explain to people had important it is to have a
- 20:28Speaker 1: consistent personality that people can count on and trust in
- 20:32Speaker 1: a crisis situation. Yeah, you gotta be cool on the fire.
- 20:36Speaker 1: You can't panic. You gotta be cause here's why everything
- 20:39Speaker 1: works together. Every every disappointment of the blessing life of
- 20:43Speaker 1: a conspiracy to healthy win. If you stay cool, if
- 20:46Speaker 1: you stay calm, and if you stay collective. Because a
- 20:49Speaker 1: lot of people will panting. They will say, well, the
- 20:51Speaker 1: red seat have a blocked Pharaoh is coming. Less blame Moses,
- 20:56Speaker 1: less kill Moses. No, you gotta keep cool. You gotta
- 20:59Speaker 1: get be collected. We are killing Moses. So a lot
- 21:03Speaker 1: of people will get frustrated. So I stay cool on
- 21:05Speaker 1: the pressure because I know everything is working in my
- 21:08Speaker 1: favorite Mr Hutches, I'm gonna talk to you again at
- 21:11Speaker 1: now I gotta get to my other man. You know
- 21:13Speaker 1: I've been promoting them all week. My Neckcace is a
- 21:15Speaker 1: radio person nowity He's an actor, motivational speaker and well
- 21:19Speaker 1: non comedian, Please work with the money, make conversations the
- 21:22Speaker 1: incredibly funny earthquake. What's up? Damn money everybody right now,
- 21:31Speaker 1: I can't lose these weights and all this weight off me,
- 21:33Speaker 1: and you keep putting them cupcakes on there, just putting
- 21:37Speaker 1: down here and making all this good food, putting it
- 21:40Speaker 1: on my Instagram. I'm at a blocking form first of all.
- 21:45Speaker 1: First of all, earthquake many years. Our relationship is many
- 21:49Speaker 1: years and many journeys. And when I look at you,
- 21:52Speaker 1: tell me about because you know, you know we started. Man,
- 21:55Speaker 1: you know it's just it's just a website. You know,
- 21:57Speaker 1: now you've got social media? How has that change? Is
- 22:00Speaker 1: the game for you? The social media? Well, for me,
- 22:03Speaker 1: I was, to be honest with you, I was a
- 22:05Speaker 1: little late to the party. What is us? Now? Has
- 22:08Speaker 1: allowed me to talk to my to my audience and
- 22:12Speaker 1: you know where I came back from the time me
- 22:14Speaker 1: and you together. When the social media first came, the
- 22:16Speaker 1: young comedians was on it, I was like, man, I'm
- 22:19Speaker 1: not gonna sit here and tell my jokes out for freaks. Man,
- 22:23Speaker 1: I get Hay for him, and I known that that's
- 22:26Speaker 1: what I should have did, was going and get to
- 22:28Speaker 1: him for free, and we made it for him, set
- 22:29Speaker 1: up for the better audience. Man, I'd have been a
- 22:32Speaker 1: lot farther than I am today. Boy, So you know,
- 22:35Speaker 1: I'm still getting around to it, but it's important. And
- 22:38Speaker 1: they judged everything here out here in l A. Now
- 22:41Speaker 1: on your life, your followers, and what I tell them is, man,
- 22:45Speaker 1: when I tell them from only for my professionals, us
- 22:48Speaker 1: being comedians, don't tell me how many followers you got.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Tell me how many comedians can you follow? That's what
- 22:55Speaker 1: we able to step. You step on that stage and
- 22:57Speaker 1: go behind six or seven bad to me that audience, right,
- 23:02Speaker 1: I don't hear how many followers you got. That's the
- 23:04Speaker 1: follower I want to know. You know, it's it's it's
- 23:06Speaker 1: it's interesting because you know when you say that, because
- 23:09Speaker 1: in two thousand and seven, that's when I remember, you know,
- 23:12Speaker 1: Steve and I sat down and we had this big
- 23:14Speaker 1: old mailing list. We had a million people are mailing list.
- 23:18Speaker 1: I was trying to ignore social media. In fact, I
- 23:20Speaker 1: was ignoring social media because I felt there was a
- 23:22Speaker 1: lot of work. Even though I saw Twitter on all
- 23:25Speaker 1: the news anchors, I saw Twitter fees and facebooks on
- 23:28Speaker 1: all the corporate pages, and everything. I was trying to
- 23:31Speaker 1: ignore it. So but what I really discovered is that,
- 23:34Speaker 1: like you said earlier, in Hollywood, in the media, with advertisers,
- 23:40Speaker 1: another likes, they deemed you just being topical. They deemed
- 23:43Speaker 1: you as being a person an influencer. And you said,
- 23:47Speaker 1: you come late to the game. But guess what, the
- 23:49Speaker 1: game ain't late for you because you understand the important
- 23:52Speaker 1: Because the first thing out your mouth was talking about
- 23:54Speaker 1: social media. Yeah, I mean, it's it's it's it's it's amazing,
- 24:00Speaker 1: and that you can just go out here and touch
- 24:02Speaker 1: and talk to everybody and they can touch it and
- 24:05Speaker 1: you can put your point of view in which we
- 24:07Speaker 1: have a unique one. I said, we're the third eye,
- 24:11Speaker 1: you know what I mean. We made we made what's prelece.
- 24:16Speaker 1: So now you could talk to him and were revenent,
- 24:19Speaker 1: you know, and with anything you got, good or bad.
- 24:21Speaker 1: But it's it's working for me now. And that's why. Yeah,
- 24:24Speaker 1: because I got some more on the show today too,
- 24:26Speaker 1: And it's the same conversation I'm gonna have with her
- 24:29Speaker 1: about social media because we know it's a beast out there,
- 24:31Speaker 1: like Kevin Hard is a beast and social media and
- 24:35Speaker 1: then you have he's a beast. He's learned to go this.
- 24:38Speaker 1: This is the business side of Kevin Hard, and this
- 24:40Speaker 1: is the funniest side of Kevin Hard. Then you have
- 24:42Speaker 1: people who we don't even know that out there there,
- 24:46Speaker 1: young comedians. They got four or five million followers and
- 24:49Speaker 1: I've never heard of my life, but they are relevant
- 24:53Speaker 1: because they have that social media follower. That's the business side,
- 24:56Speaker 1: and that's why I really started money making conversations and
- 24:59Speaker 1: guess what, I launched it on my Facebook page with
- 25:02Speaker 1: your social media, and that's important on the branding process.
- 25:05Speaker 1: And that's really important because I remember you you called
- 25:08Speaker 1: me Rashwan about somebody says something negative on your Facebook
- 25:11Speaker 1: page and you would get wanted to get that straight.
- 25:13Speaker 1: So it's an important part of your brand correct earthquake. Yes, well,
- 25:18Speaker 1: it's very important because I mean, you're entitled to your opinion,
- 25:21Speaker 1: but you're not entited to your own facts. Yes, sir, yes, sir.
- 25:25Speaker 1: When you when you say something about me, you need
- 25:27Speaker 1: to be fight sally, especially if you in this business
- 25:32Speaker 1: we call professional entertainment platform and you out here sitting
- 25:37Speaker 1: here staking your opinion and I'm I'm gonna, I'm gonna,
- 25:41Speaker 1: I'm gonna challenge you with when you put brain my
- 25:43Speaker 1: name on your mouth, so you know I reached out
- 25:46Speaker 1: to you on that. But right now I'm getting into it.
- 25:50Speaker 1: I'm not as hard as I I should be, but
- 25:54Speaker 1: I'm not kind of got it. This is what I
- 25:56Speaker 1: think today, This is but part of me and try
- 25:59Speaker 1: to spread my brain and even more. And as I try,
- 26:01Speaker 1: what I'm about to do is get into more what
- 26:03Speaker 1: your professor with. You're great at TV and movie. I'm
- 26:07Speaker 1: gonna get into it even more. Need that support, okay,
- 26:10Speaker 1: because that's important because I've seen you grow as a
- 26:13Speaker 1: as in auditions, because I've been fortunate to be in
- 26:16Speaker 1: the room. It was casting opportunities that you walked into.
- 26:19Speaker 1: And every time I've seen you, you've gotten stronger and
- 26:21Speaker 1: stronger as an actor. Or I would tell you something
- 26:24Speaker 1: I can't act, so so I can tell I tell
- 26:26Speaker 1: everybody elp front that is what I do. You go
- 26:29Speaker 1: what you're supposed to be. I remember, we can tell
- 26:32Speaker 1: you can share this quick story the way I'm an
- 26:34Speaker 1: earthquake is very true when you're talking about who can
- 26:37Speaker 1: you follow on stage, because because that's how I met him.
- 26:41Speaker 1: I had to follow earthquake and the club in Atlanta, Georgan.
- 26:48Speaker 1: It was Earthquake and buy five comics. I would tell
- 26:51Speaker 1: you something if if if you ever heard put the
- 26:55Speaker 1: fire on stage, lit the stage on five, they don't
- 26:59Speaker 1: lit the stage on five. They put it out and
- 27:02Speaker 1: then they ReLit it and then they said you next.
- 27:08Speaker 1: That's why I meant that's how I met earth quake,
- 27:10Speaker 1: because see, because the right there, I realized that I
- 27:13Speaker 1: wasn't ready for what they were offering. And they and
- 27:16Speaker 1: the and the great thing the body was they were
- 27:18Speaker 1: waiting to see me. It was so much respect that
- 27:21Speaker 1: they had booked me at this club. They said, man
- 27:24Speaker 1: with Sean coming, So it wasn't It wasn't like they
- 27:26Speaker 1: did it out of disrespect. They were just showing me
- 27:29Speaker 1: their best and they go, okay with Sean, let's see
- 27:32Speaker 1: what you got. And brother, I'm gonna tell you something.
- 27:34Speaker 1: It wasn't pretty for me. Earth Craig was there here. No,
- 27:41Speaker 1: it was not ready. I walked off that stage. Look
- 27:45Speaker 1: at it. I walked out that stage. I went to
- 27:47Speaker 1: me a radio shock. I got me a little recorder
- 27:51Speaker 1: and I just started working my act in my dressing room.
- 27:53Speaker 1: I ain't gonna get nothing to eat because That's what
- 27:55Speaker 1: it's all about. Man. That stage that defines who you are. Man,
- 28:00Speaker 1: Is that true? Yes? It is. And what we call
- 28:03Speaker 1: it is the anchor. You know, it's the anchor. Especially
- 28:08Speaker 1: when you're dealing with our people. They don't give you.
- 28:10Speaker 1: But so many times, remember like you said, they get
- 28:12Speaker 1: the rock two times, you know on that third rock
- 28:16Speaker 1: that boo coming right behind. Absolutely absolutely in that chat
- 28:20Speaker 1: and they look around and they're like, man, I'm getting
- 28:23Speaker 1: tired of this now. Now you you get a strong,
- 28:26Speaker 1: footholder radio. Do you want to get back a radio? Yeah?
- 28:30Speaker 1: I want. I want to get back into radio. My
- 28:32Speaker 1: goal live. I mean, if you are already I look
- 28:35Speaker 1: at you and no comparison other than this is like
- 28:39Speaker 1: the trump Father did put the pathway down there for
- 28:42Speaker 1: us to go you and see has showed how it is.
- 28:46Speaker 1: I can if anything is the same way, sit down here.
- 28:50Speaker 1: You know. WBLS was great for me. It didn't give
- 28:53Speaker 1: me the opportunity to be syndicated. I didn't go away
- 28:57Speaker 1: in New York to be in one radio. I want
- 29:00Speaker 1: it to do like y'all did. I wanted to be
- 29:01Speaker 1: left the afternoon drive prepared, propelled myself with a TV
- 29:07Speaker 1: show expand my brand and do different things. And I
- 29:11Speaker 1: talked to my consumers in the morning, pulled them to
- 29:14Speaker 1: come watch me in the east. But that's that's important
- 29:18Speaker 1: to hear. But that's important because I want to I
- 29:20Speaker 1: want to hear that because of the fact that you know,
- 29:22Speaker 1: I'm always working, and you know, opportunities always coming my way,
- 29:26Speaker 1: and I am an earthquake fan. And I thought, and
- 29:29Speaker 1: I feel the things you did on radio were not
- 29:31Speaker 1: only you know, you profound, I said, profound. You had
- 29:34Speaker 1: something to say. See's a lot of people just funny,
- 29:37Speaker 1: but you also articulate social issues, which I thought was
- 29:40Speaker 1: really important because it comes out in your comedy anyway. Yes, yes,
- 29:46Speaker 1: And my favorite joke right now, Trump be lying to
- 29:50Speaker 1: us like we don't have Google. Hey, man, black people
- 29:58Speaker 1: got Google now man. The thing a body is that
- 30:01Speaker 1: when you go political, when you go social, when you
- 30:04Speaker 1: go financial. The whole thing in this whole world earthquake
- 30:07Speaker 1: is for me to let you know that, man, is
- 30:09Speaker 1: that this is a relationship phone call, but it's also
- 30:12Speaker 1: a call phone call to help other people understand how
- 30:15Speaker 1: why you've been successful so long. The fire is not
- 30:19Speaker 1: that's not went away. And then there are other options
- 30:22Speaker 1: out there that are growing for you. That guess what
- 30:23Speaker 1: you're about to hear about you on a riset on
- 30:25Speaker 1: a bigger level, because you are constantly building your brand.
- 30:30Speaker 1: I mean you listen successors determined the bond your potential.
- 30:36Speaker 1: You know. I get so tired of people saying, man,
- 30:39Speaker 1: I thought you would always be here or you'll be there,
- 30:43Speaker 1: and say I'm glad, I'm glad you you expect that,
- 30:46Speaker 1: but I'm still going. Every day is a journey. It
- 30:50Speaker 1: ain't over until they put you down in the ground. Brother.
- 30:54Speaker 1: You have to scribe every day in your and your
- 30:57Speaker 1: work ethic is the only thing that separates you from
- 31:00Speaker 1: other people that even have an inkling of your talent.
- 31:03Speaker 1: You can have all the talent in the world, but
- 31:05Speaker 1: if your talent ain't with your work ethic, it ain't
- 31:08Speaker 1: going nowhere. And I just work, man, I work. I
- 31:11Speaker 1: refreshed my job first. I make sure I have a
- 31:14Speaker 1: new fresh set every day from out there so people
- 31:17Speaker 1: who sees me get to see another show another difference
- 31:21Speaker 1: in my growth. Learn things, man, because y'all work. Man,
- 31:26Speaker 1: y'all work. Y'all used to beat the roosters up, but
- 31:29Speaker 1: guess what, We'll still beat the roosters up, and I'm
- 31:31Speaker 1: gonna just tell you that the great thing about life
- 31:34Speaker 1: is been out of sight, out of buying. Brother, You're
- 31:36Speaker 1: you're back on my radar. You'll be hearing from it
- 31:38Speaker 1: this week. On a good conversation that I want to
- 31:41Speaker 1: extend beyond because you are super talent. I want to
- 31:44Speaker 1: thank you for calling in, not just talking to me,
- 31:46Speaker 1: but letting people in the radio game, in the social
- 31:48Speaker 1: media game, understand how talent like you we'll be successful.
- 31:53Speaker 1: How to sustain yourself and guess what the game always
- 31:57Speaker 1: changes and you adjust correct. You know it says, Please
- 32:03Speaker 1: have all your listeners follow me on Instagram at the
- 32:07Speaker 1: Real Earthquake. There you go, sadies, the gentleal. He's been
- 32:10Speaker 1: on the he's been in my life for a long time.
- 32:13Speaker 1: He showed me what it meant to go on stage
- 32:15Speaker 1: and have your act together as a comedian. He's my
- 32:18Speaker 1: maid the Real Earthquake. Follow him on Instagram The Real Earthquake, Earthquake.
- 32:24Speaker 1: Thank you, my brother. We'll be back with more money.
- 32:26Speaker 1: Make conversations. If you got bad half, you got bad skid,
- 32:30Speaker 1: My girl Dr Mack is coming up for you. She's skyping.
- 32:33Speaker 1: Okay now, she's styping. Let's see if it's gonna work.
- 32:36Speaker 1: She's styping more money making conversation to be right back.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Can you hear me? Dr macklin, I can hear you,
- 32:42Speaker 1: loud and clear. How are you we? I wish you'd
- 32:45Speaker 1: have had you five minutes ago, this loud and clear.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Dr mac Okay. You know, first of all, we go
- 32:51Speaker 1: way back and and and it's all very professional. It's
- 32:54Speaker 1: all about watching your brand grow. Please tell everybody exactly
- 32:58Speaker 1: what you do. Yes, well, first of all, all blessings
- 33:03Speaker 1: to you Rashwan. First of all for the opportunity to
- 33:05Speaker 1: be on your phenomenal money making conversations. But more importantly,
- 33:09Speaker 1: we go back to two thousand and seven. I mean,
- 33:11Speaker 1: I was this dermatologist that wanted to have this multimedia
- 33:16Speaker 1: platform because I realized that we, as asked Americans couldn't
- 33:21Speaker 1: get to a germatologist, and if we could, we didn't
- 33:25Speaker 1: have the money to completely pay for it. So it
- 33:28Speaker 1: was important for me to devise a multimedia platform as
- 33:32Speaker 1: a hair and skin expert in the medical field, to
- 33:36Speaker 1: be able to reach out two millions where they wouldn't
- 33:40Speaker 1: be able to reach out to me. You know it
- 33:42Speaker 1: takes someone actively rashwan as you know, to actually call
- 33:45Speaker 1: up a dermatologist office or even a regular doctor for
- 33:48Speaker 1: that matter. They have to be proactive to actually go
- 33:52Speaker 1: to that office. Well, what happens to those people that
- 33:54Speaker 1: aren't active? They're passive, but they're sitting their home, they're
- 33:57Speaker 1: sitting at the beauty shops, they're sitting at the makeup counters,
- 34:00Speaker 1: and they're frustrated over their hair and skin issues. And
- 34:03Speaker 1: so I figured, well, I was always at outbox, outside
- 34:06Speaker 1: the box thinker. Anyway, I really didn't even want to
- 34:09Speaker 1: be a drama tolenges. I wanted to be a hairstylid,
- 34:12Speaker 1: you know. But my mother said, quite frankly, no disrespect,
- 34:15Speaker 1: but we get medical degrees and dental degrees in our family.
- 34:18Speaker 1: So you just gonna be You're even gonna be a
- 34:21Speaker 1: pediatrician like me, or you're gonna be a dentist like
- 34:24Speaker 1: your dad. And I said, well, you know what, I'm
- 34:26Speaker 1: gonna be a hair doctor. And I made that decision
- 34:28Speaker 1: when I was fourteens. Yes, yes, and that you know
- 34:36Speaker 1: because you have two brands, right, your bella neutral and
- 34:39Speaker 1: you have bold neutral. Right, that's correct. Okay, explain to
- 34:43Speaker 1: everybody what each one is and how they can access
- 34:45Speaker 1: information on you. Yes, well, you know, traditionally in the
- 34:49Speaker 1: in the in the beauty industry, people are usually used
- 34:53Speaker 1: to topical products. Well, topical products really cannot penetrate the
- 34:57Speaker 1: depth of the skin or the hair. So I knew
- 35:00Speaker 1: that because those structures were internal rashawn, they needed to
- 35:03Speaker 1: give something internal. But we had not quite hit that
- 35:07Speaker 1: industry yet here in the US. Well, that's where I'm
- 35:10Speaker 1: a pioneer of supplements, where I started working with European
- 35:14Speaker 1: based chemists and researchers to figure out what nutrients could
- 35:19Speaker 1: help us really improve our hair. And I scanned from
- 35:21Speaker 1: the internal. So I actually started with the product call
- 35:24Speaker 1: of Viviscal. It was totally over in Europe. I reached
- 35:27Speaker 1: out to them and asked them what were their plans?
- 35:29Speaker 1: They said, Hey, Dr macnill, we like what you're you're
- 35:31Speaker 1: saying to us. Can you help us brand this in
- 35:34Speaker 1: the US? I said absolutely, I said, especially in our
- 35:36Speaker 1: African American community, and I made then reach millions and
- 35:40Speaker 1: zillions you actually probably still see in commercials today. But
- 35:44Speaker 1: I advanced that formula to make it even better for
- 35:47Speaker 1: our Ascan American women and men. So Bela New Tree
- 35:50Speaker 1: is my women's supplement supplement that I launched in two
- 35:53Speaker 1: thousand and seven and then out launched the men's bone
- 35:56Speaker 1: New Tree in two thousand and eight. So you know,
- 35:59Speaker 1: I look at these, I call them no disrespect. A
- 36:02Speaker 1: lot of impostors in today's time, a lot of these.
- 36:04Speaker 1: You know, there's been such a broad trend of hair
- 36:08Speaker 1: and skin supplements out there. But I tell folks, you
- 36:10Speaker 1: gotta be careful because this is even though they may
- 36:13Speaker 1: say natural, it's still something internal that a person is taking.
- 36:17Speaker 1: So as a medical physician, is very important to me
- 36:20Speaker 1: that when I'm producing products that they're gonna be safe
- 36:23Speaker 1: yet effective for for folks that are using them. So
- 36:26Speaker 1: it's it's really important. What you're saying is that, first
- 36:28Speaker 1: of all, I met you in two thousand it was
- 36:30Speaker 1: bella nice boat. What exactly because this is hair or
- 36:34Speaker 1: this face? What? What what products are? Because I know you, Yes,
- 36:38Speaker 1: it's working on both. I help folks. You know my
- 36:41Speaker 1: um it's true beauty begins within is my slogan. I said.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Outer beauty is a reflection of an interview. True beauty
- 36:49Speaker 1: begins within. So what I mean by that is that
- 36:52Speaker 1: because your hair and skin are internal structures. A matter
- 36:56Speaker 1: of fact, your skin is the largest organ in your
- 36:58Speaker 1: entire body. So that's what Bella nutris tackling from the
- 37:02Speaker 1: inside on helping women to get those follicles back, revived,
- 37:05Speaker 1: stimulated so that they can help with these thin areas evolving,
- 37:10Speaker 1: various areas of alopecia hair that's just shedding or breaking off,
- 37:14Speaker 1: and that you want to get smooth again. You want
- 37:17Speaker 1: the pores to be smaller, you want to get rid
- 37:19Speaker 1: of those fine lines and wrinkles. That is what Bella
- 37:22Speaker 1: Nutria is doing from an internal aspect, and honestly, Rashawn,
- 37:26Speaker 1: it took years for people to understand that I was
- 37:29Speaker 1: out here fighting back in nine when I was around
- 37:32Speaker 1: on every multimedia you can think of, trying to get
- 37:35Speaker 1: folks to understand. You know it, because you were right
- 37:38Speaker 1: telling me, Hey, listen, I like what you're doing, but
- 37:41Speaker 1: she I need your marketing plan. And it goes back
- 37:44Speaker 1: to what you were saying earlier. You asked my marketing plan.
- 37:47Speaker 1: I got it to you. You said, listen, I got
- 37:50Speaker 1: a plan for you be a WBLS. What was it
- 37:53Speaker 1: June twenty three or something seven? I got there. Steve
- 37:58Speaker 1: started reading my bio and I'm like, I for an
- 38:00Speaker 1: air ofview though reading my biout, that sounds like some
- 38:04Speaker 1: something funny is going on here. And he said, hey,
- 38:07Speaker 1: I brought Dr Macklin here to answer your hair and
- 38:10Speaker 1: skin questions. Rashan. The phone lines blew up and you
- 38:13Speaker 1: may not ever know this, but when I finished, I
- 38:15Speaker 1: think we were on air doing questions I made. It
- 38:18Speaker 1: might have been a thirty to forty five minutes. It
- 38:20Speaker 1: was a very long time, Steve. Steve said, listen, I'd
- 38:24Speaker 1: like for you to be part of my team. You
- 38:26Speaker 1: don't know this, Rashan, but I've gotten the I said,
- 38:28Speaker 1: of course I will, Steve. I'm happy to do this
- 38:31Speaker 1: because it was always my dream for for folks that
- 38:33Speaker 1: eventually hear what I had to say, not just read.
- 38:36Speaker 1: I was in tons of magazine and people can read.
- 38:38Speaker 1: But I got in that cab to go back to
- 38:40Speaker 1: the hotel and I cried like a baby because my
- 38:43Speaker 1: dream of being able for folks to finally here millions
- 38:47Speaker 1: to hear what I had to say, it finally came true.
- 38:50Speaker 1: I thank you for that. I mean, you just don't
- 38:52Speaker 1: even understand because we didn't even talk about that. But um,
- 38:57Speaker 1: that's where you can definitely make dreams come true. And
- 39:01Speaker 1: I'm so happy with this platform that you put out
- 39:03Speaker 1: because so many people need it. People don't have guidance.
- 39:07Speaker 1: You are basically being a mentor online for people. You've
- 39:12Speaker 1: been a mentor to me personally, and I'm so blessed
- 39:15Speaker 1: with that. But think about what you're doing two millions
- 39:18Speaker 1: through the social media. I know I'm sold to social
- 39:20Speaker 1: media too, but we have to we we obviously, you know,
- 39:23Speaker 1: have to go with the times. But yes, you are
- 39:25Speaker 1: a blessing and I just wanted to say that verbally.
- 39:29Speaker 1: I tell you that we text that all the time,
- 39:31Speaker 1: but other folks need to hear what I've experienced. And
- 39:35Speaker 1: you given me that opportunity to get on radio on syndication.
- 39:39Speaker 1: It opened up the doors. I went on to do
- 39:41Speaker 1: multiple stations within radio. One. I ended up having my
- 39:45Speaker 1: own Dr macmun show on call on w o L.
- 39:48Speaker 1: I mean, I went on the TV. The Chris Rock
- 39:51Speaker 1: heard me on your station. One day. He had to
- 39:54Speaker 1: folks call me saying, look, we didn't interview seventy black dermatologists,
- 39:58Speaker 1: but we want her. I interviewed that same day on
- 40:01Speaker 1: the train coming back from BLS Rashaan, and they said, listen,
- 40:06Speaker 1: we want you. I was back up in New York
- 40:08Speaker 1: two weeks later filming for Good Hair. So you are
- 40:11Speaker 1: my blessing. I gotta have you back. I gotta have
- 40:14Speaker 1: you back because, like I said, I love the technology
- 40:16Speaker 1: messed us up. So next month is September. Can you
- 40:19Speaker 1: come back on my show and we do a real
- 40:21Speaker 1: break anytime whenever you want me, Rashad, I'm there. Tell
- 40:25Speaker 1: everybody how they can reach you so we can we
- 40:27Speaker 1: can close this eye more absolutely, I love for people
- 40:31Speaker 1: to reach me through www dot dr Macklin dot com.
- 40:35Speaker 1: That's v R and may C l I N dot com.
- 40:37Speaker 1: You can send me a contact, your contact information and
- 40:40Speaker 1: I'm happy to get with you. I appreciate you, Rashan,
- 40:42Speaker 1: love you, Thank you. Be special to Moore. Is coming
- 40:48Speaker 1: up next on money making conversation, The legendary said, more
- 40:52Speaker 1: on money make conversation up. I gotta bring it up.
- 40:58Speaker 1: I gotta bring it up. My scarce. You can call
- 41:02Speaker 1: a comedian, you call her right, act, executive, producer, entrepreneur,
- 41:07Speaker 1: television host, whatever you prefer, Please work on the money
- 41:10Speaker 1: banking conversation. The undisputed Queen of Comedy some more. Yes, yes,
- 41:18Speaker 1: thank you, thank you. The whole world is waiting on
- 41:20Speaker 1: the eclips. Come on, now, come on, now, there out there.
- 41:23Speaker 1: I told him at the top of the show, you
- 41:24Speaker 1: can look up there, but it ain't gonna last long.
- 41:27Speaker 1: You need to be looking straight ahead. That's what your
- 41:29Speaker 1: job opportunity to And my and my am I missing something.
- 41:33Speaker 1: I go outside. I don't know what to do. You
- 41:35Speaker 1: know you ain't missing nothing because I've I've been old
- 41:38Speaker 1: enough to experience a previous eclips where they told me
- 41:41Speaker 1: to put a pinhole through a piece of paper and
- 41:43Speaker 1: then I can look at the sun, so I know
- 41:46Speaker 1: ain't nothing up there. I insult nothing up there. Now
- 41:48Speaker 1: they're trying to make it like the dogs ain't gonna bark,
- 41:51Speaker 1: the aunt ain't gonna move, you know, the elephants gonna
- 41:54Speaker 1: look at each other strange. They just try to make
- 41:56Speaker 1: a story up there and tell them glasses. I took
- 42:00Speaker 1: me three Vitamin D pails and I said, I'm good.
- 42:02Speaker 1: I don't know what else is gonna happen after that.
- 42:04Speaker 1: Some more. I'm gonna tell you some thank you for
- 42:07Speaker 1: calling on money making conversation, and really what this show
- 42:10Speaker 1: is about is that I'm not trying to put no
- 42:11Speaker 1: pressure because you're naturally funny anyway. It's really to help
- 42:15Speaker 1: educate people about being successful, that every road to success
- 42:19Speaker 1: is paid differently. And you know, and and and I've
- 42:23Speaker 1: been fortunate to see your journey and and I'm gonna
- 42:26Speaker 1: say this up top, is that you have created a
- 42:31Speaker 1: raw sex appeal and and in the in the in
- 42:34Speaker 1: the female comedian drawing raw that I think it's very powerful.
- 42:38Speaker 1: Am I wrong in saying that, Um, that's that's cool,
- 42:41Speaker 1: that's cool to be your perspective, that's cool. I can
- 42:44Speaker 1: accept that that's nice because because we do not say
- 42:47Speaker 1: that is that it's that, it's that it's nothing wrong
- 42:48Speaker 1: because you know, because a lot of people think that
- 42:50Speaker 1: you can't be be you know, you have to be
- 42:52Speaker 1: a certain way. You gotta be you know, close bag
- 42:55Speaker 1: or you know, a little clownish, a little google. You know,
- 42:58Speaker 1: for a long time, Hollywood's option of black women being
- 43:01Speaker 1: funny was fat black and on the trash. That's what
- 43:03Speaker 1: I'm talking about. Come on now, it was for a
- 43:06Speaker 1: long time that was just the perception. And you know,
- 43:10Speaker 1: I think we're still breaking down stereotypes with that. And uh,
- 43:14Speaker 1: I just I just was here to prove that we
- 43:16Speaker 1: can be funny and and and look all different types
- 43:19Speaker 1: of ways. Now we were now in making that journey
- 43:21Speaker 1: because you know, your success is you know, here's a
- 43:25Speaker 1: deal my you know, my older sister gonna always take
- 43:27Speaker 1: credit for discovering your at the Hip Hop Comedy Stop,
- 43:30Speaker 1: you know, because I'm just tell you quick history about
- 43:32Speaker 1: some More and I. I had a comedy club in
- 43:35Speaker 1: two called the Hip Hop Comedy Stop, and and we
- 43:38Speaker 1: used to bring in unknown talent and then we were
- 43:40Speaker 1: We made our money on headliners that had a TV credits,
- 43:43Speaker 1: and my sister were coming in for a month. She
- 43:45Speaker 1: coming there with this videotape some More Some More, sit
- 43:48Speaker 1: to my club to get booked. I wasn't looking at
- 43:51Speaker 1: it at all. Finally I told her, Okay, I'm gonna
- 43:54Speaker 1: just book her. I'm just gonna book her. If you
- 43:55Speaker 1: just leave me along, Caroline, I'm a book her. I'm
- 43:59Speaker 1: gonna tell you something, book some More. She blew the headline. Yeah,
- 44:05Speaker 1: it didn't even mean to do that time. My club
- 44:10Speaker 1: was in Houston, flew from Atlanta, Georgia. She hit that
- 44:15Speaker 1: stage and messed everybody up. And that was the foundation
- 44:19Speaker 1: for you being a star, you know, because you just
- 44:22Speaker 1: had that natural gift to be great and you've just
- 44:25Speaker 1: carried it on. So here's here's the thing that people
- 44:28Speaker 1: didn't know. Before I became a stand up comedian, I was.
- 44:31Speaker 1: I was a business owner. I owned my own business.
- 44:34Speaker 1: I own my own store. And then I used to
- 44:37Speaker 1: be a a substitute algebra teacher. So days when I
- 44:42Speaker 1: wasn't working at my store, I would be I would
- 44:44Speaker 1: be in uh school, in the high schools teaching. And
- 44:48Speaker 1: so before I became a comedian, I actually read a
- 44:51Speaker 1: book and I still tell people refer people to this
- 44:55Speaker 1: book today. It's called how to Be a Stand Up Comedian.
- 44:59Speaker 1: I read the entire your book. I did exactly what
- 45:02Speaker 1: the book said to do. I picked the persona that
- 45:04Speaker 1: I wanted to go on stage to have um even
- 45:08Speaker 1: from my name, my name, my real name is Laurie.
- 45:11Speaker 1: I couldn't go up there and talk to jump that
- 45:12Speaker 1: I was talking as Lori. So so I'm like, people
- 45:17Speaker 1: ain't gonna buy that Laurie is this superhero. So I
- 45:20Speaker 1: picked the name, and I said, if you give somebody
- 45:22Speaker 1: something good with what they want, they would want some more. Okay,
- 45:25Speaker 1: I'm going with some more and that's and that's how
- 45:28Speaker 1: it happened. And I did exactly what the book said
- 45:31Speaker 1: to do. I wrote my material, I stuck to my persona,
- 45:35Speaker 1: I worked on my delivery and it worked. It was
- 45:38Speaker 1: a business I approached it from a business perspective. Because
- 45:41Speaker 1: your degrees in mathematics correct, right, My degree is in
- 45:44Speaker 1: business administration of minor and mathematics. Because my degree is
- 45:47Speaker 1: in mathematics. And the reason I bring that up because
- 45:50Speaker 1: it is a certain analytical behavior that you have. You
- 45:53Speaker 1: know too, plus two is always four and so if
- 45:56Speaker 1: you and that means you're a planner, and that really
- 45:59Speaker 1: I'm tasting. This is the first time I've heard your stories.
- 46:01Speaker 1: Many times we've talked, and it's now we share the stage.
- 46:04Speaker 1: That explains to me how your pattern of success, how
- 46:07Speaker 1: you've always been a forward moving person. And I plan
- 46:11Speaker 1: everything I write. I write notes every night before I
- 46:14Speaker 1: go to bed my day what I'm gonna do the
- 46:17Speaker 1: next day. I have to plan. I am. I am
- 46:20Speaker 1: a planner. I have to. I have to. I believe
- 46:22Speaker 1: in structure, right, and I really do. And then with that,
- 46:25Speaker 1: with that, with that structure, so so because you've done
- 46:28Speaker 1: certain things, I think that's been really important. You know,
- 46:31Speaker 1: you your headline tours and then some tools you her host.
- 46:35Speaker 1: Is there a strategy and the hosting versus the headlining?
- 46:40Speaker 1: Here yeah, okay, here here's the thing. First of all,
- 46:43Speaker 1: I love stand up stand up. It stole my heart,
- 46:47Speaker 1: like I loved it, and I loved it from the
- 46:50Speaker 1: time the first time I've ever seen Joan Rivers, I
- 46:53Speaker 1: swear to you like I was just in awe in
- 46:56Speaker 1: alle of the of the whole world of stand up.
- 46:59Speaker 1: Like I said, I studied it, and for me, it's
- 47:03Speaker 1: about the show, about it being a good show. It's
- 47:06Speaker 1: never about just me as a performer. I want people
- 47:10Speaker 1: to say, oh, that was a great show. So I
- 47:13Speaker 1: always am concerned about my positioning on the show. You know,
- 47:18Speaker 1: one thing that people never understood with deaf Comedy Jam
- 47:22Speaker 1: when they would see people have bad sets on death
- 47:24Speaker 1: Comedy Jam, and they never realized that sometime it was
- 47:27Speaker 1: the positioning, the way people position you, or what you
- 47:32Speaker 1: didn't know is that the audience stood outside for two
- 47:34Speaker 1: hours to get in. It was cold, it was raining,
- 47:37Speaker 1: but they're in a bad mood already, you know, would
- 47:40Speaker 1: stand up. There's so many elements that go into your
- 47:44Speaker 1: performance being successful. It really really really it's like, you know,
- 47:49Speaker 1: just you know the thing that you're right on the
- 47:52Speaker 1: money when you're talking about attitude, talking about positioning, and
- 47:55Speaker 1: about taking advantage of things that have presented to you.
- 47:58Speaker 1: For instance, here namy too, I'm on this this young lady.
- 48:02Speaker 1: You know, I would had had to be forced to
- 48:04Speaker 1: be on my comedy close stage because because we I
- 48:06Speaker 1: didn't want to take the time to put on stage,
- 48:08Speaker 1: because what I didn't think I had time. I ain't
- 48:11Speaker 1: never heard of some more like you just told you
- 48:13Speaker 1: just made the name up, you know, And so she
- 48:16Speaker 1: blowed my stage away, and then what two years later,
- 48:19Speaker 1: he was the first female host of bt S Comic
- 48:22Speaker 1: View exactly Wow, which was strategic in what I wanted
- 48:27Speaker 1: to do. Like I really made a lot of lot
- 48:29Speaker 1: of strategic moves, even down to you know, like I
- 48:33Speaker 1: still twenty five years in the business. I go on
- 48:35Speaker 1: stage with a list, a comedy list, and people always say, well,
- 48:39Speaker 1: why you just don't go up in freestyle? I can.
- 48:42Speaker 1: I care about the quality of the show. I care
- 48:45Speaker 1: about the quality of the show. Like I know the
- 48:48Speaker 1: theme of this presentation that I am going to give
- 48:50Speaker 1: you all some kind of way, all of these jokes
- 48:53Speaker 1: will mesh with the overall theme of the show, like
- 48:56Speaker 1: I'm that deep with it when it comes to doing
- 48:59Speaker 1: stand up. But but that's where a lot of people
- 49:01Speaker 1: miss is that they don't take the business side of life.
- 49:04Speaker 1: And my whole, my whole thing I tell people when
- 49:06Speaker 1: they listen to the show and watch the show on
- 49:08Speaker 1: Facebook is that your story can be applied in so
- 49:12Speaker 1: many different layers of life. You just happy to tell
- 49:15Speaker 1: jokes because you're talking about, you know, planning your success.
- 49:18Speaker 1: You're talking about, hey, getting up, you know, applying a
- 49:21Speaker 1: plan of action and being consistent with your goal setting.
- 49:25Speaker 1: And that's what this is all about. I have always
- 49:28Speaker 1: been that way. I mean just from even you know,
- 49:30Speaker 1: when you're going to the grocery store with your mother.
- 49:32Speaker 1: Your mother before y'all leave, she said, look here, we're
- 49:34Speaker 1: going in here with this list. I'm not buying you this.
- 49:38Speaker 1: I'm not buying you that you get two things. You know,
- 49:41Speaker 1: you had, you had a structure, so when you get
- 49:43Speaker 1: in there, we already know the game plan. Like I
- 49:45Speaker 1: am just a planning person. I have to have structure
- 49:49Speaker 1: to know what it actually what what what is I'm
- 49:51Speaker 1: going into and if it doesn't work for me, if
- 49:54Speaker 1: it doesn't, if it won't, if I don't like to
- 49:56Speaker 1: be put in situations where I don't, I'm not at
- 49:59Speaker 1: my best light. And I tell people, if anything you do,
- 50:04Speaker 1: you have to approach it as a business and you
- 50:07Speaker 1: have to know your strengths and your weaknesses and always
- 50:09Speaker 1: be in your best light. And that's really important. So
- 50:13Speaker 1: so when I ask you this question about because I'm
- 50:15Speaker 1: starting to see you more and more, you know, on
- 50:17Speaker 1: social media. You know, I'm talking with the Facebook lide feeds,
- 50:21Speaker 1: So so why why, why why are you doing that?
- 50:24Speaker 1: And just just to teach the questions because I just
- 50:26Speaker 1: want to educate. I don't. First of all, I'm so
- 50:29Speaker 1: afraid of social media. It's so scary to me. It's
- 50:35Speaker 1: so scary to me. And here's why it's scary to me,
- 50:37Speaker 1: because you're you're open up and your your being vulnerable
- 50:41Speaker 1: to people who, first of all, may not know your
- 50:43Speaker 1: whole story. They don't they don't care about your whole story,
- 50:47Speaker 1: and they can be evil when they can be mean,
- 50:50Speaker 1: you know, So you when when you when you dibble
- 50:52Speaker 1: and dabble in that particular arena you gotta you gotta
- 50:55Speaker 1: you know, you gotta be careful because you could come
- 50:58Speaker 1: on there and they'd be like your nose right right right, right,
- 51:02Speaker 1: right right right, because because now is that the reason
- 51:04Speaker 1: you were shades? No? No, the reason I love fun glasses? Okay,
- 51:10Speaker 1: I want to know, because you know, every time I
- 51:12Speaker 1: think you have those shades, are you'll be looking at
- 51:14Speaker 1: I wear sunglasses. Let me tell you my own it
- 51:17Speaker 1: is not complete. I start with the sunglass. Okay, but
- 51:24Speaker 1: I'm just saying like people will say anything like like
- 51:27Speaker 1: you look, I'm just not I'm just not cut from
- 51:29Speaker 1: that cloth where I'm just to having to, you know,
- 51:33Speaker 1: deal with people randomly, people's opinion all the time. So yeah,
- 51:39Speaker 1: and I can understand. I can relate to that because
- 51:40Speaker 1: that's a big part of social media, having to deal
- 51:43Speaker 1: with opinions, having to deal with people making comments about you.
- 51:46Speaker 1: But they tell you that that's the that's the forward
- 51:48Speaker 1: motion because if you don't participate, then you're not considered topical,
- 51:51Speaker 1: you're not consider the influencers. So if it forces you
- 51:55Speaker 1: in that lane, that that guess what determines whether or
- 51:58Speaker 1: not you successful in certain opportunities didn't come your way.
- 52:01Speaker 1: So what do you think here? Here's the thing. Also, like,
- 52:04Speaker 1: I don't worry about being relevant because most people that
- 52:09Speaker 1: are relevant have a sex tape out. In order to
- 52:15Speaker 1: be relevant, you just got to do so many things
- 52:18Speaker 1: to be relevant. But what I work on and I
- 52:20Speaker 1: do challenge people to do, is to be loyal to
- 52:23Speaker 1: my brand or to be if you if you're interested
- 52:26Speaker 1: in equality stand up, then this is where you can
- 52:29Speaker 1: come to get it. But what what happened, what we're happened,
- 52:32Speaker 1: what's happening now is that I think the art of
- 52:36Speaker 1: stand up is being convoluted with so many different different
- 52:40Speaker 1: styles and different you know, we're dealing with silly a
- 52:43Speaker 1: lot too, and they give to engagement. You know, It's
- 52:48Speaker 1: one thing for somebody to be silly sitting in a car,
- 52:51Speaker 1: or silly for two minute two seconds you're seeing them
- 52:54Speaker 1: on Facebook, then to be silly to be honest doing
- 52:58Speaker 1: stand up on stage. Thank you some more for calling in.
- 53:01Speaker 1: I gotta get you back on the air, because Wow,
- 53:04Speaker 1: that was one of the most profound conversations I've ever
- 53:06Speaker 1: had on my show about because she did what I
- 53:09Speaker 1: wanted to do. It wasn't about being funny. It's about
- 53:11Speaker 1: talking about her career about applying those skills that she
- 53:15Speaker 1: does every day, you know, into what you should do
- 53:19Speaker 1: every day. Have a plan, y'all, give yourself an opportunity
- 53:23Speaker 1: to win. That's all. Some more we're talking about strategy.
- 53:28Speaker 1: We'll be right back with more money making conversation, more strategy,
- 53:31Speaker 1: more plans. And people keep calling, y'all. I know I
- 53:34Speaker 1: ain't talk to nobody, but keep calling, keep calling, y'all.
- 53:37Speaker 1: I apologize. We've been busy at this. I can talk
- 53:45Speaker 1: down totally. Clips up the sun today. My next guest,
- 53:51Speaker 1: he's from Atlanta, for Stone Mount, Georgia, part of Atlanta.
- 53:55Speaker 1: See that's a that's a little bit drive away from
- 53:58Speaker 1: me because I live on the north side of Autum.
- 54:00Speaker 1: But guess what. He's a small businessman. And that's what
- 54:03Speaker 1: this show us all about. Small business entrepreneurship. Then people
- 54:07Speaker 1: know how people are making money in business, how they
- 54:10Speaker 1: decided one day they woke up one day say I'm
- 54:12Speaker 1: a bet on me. I'm gonna bet on me. And
- 54:15Speaker 1: that's what this next guy, him and his wife, they're
- 54:18Speaker 1: betting on each other. Him and his wife betting on
- 54:21Speaker 1: each other. They said, look here, we know we can
- 54:24Speaker 1: go get a jaw or nine five. We know we
- 54:26Speaker 1: can go get a forty all week jaw. We know
- 54:28Speaker 1: we can get time and a half. We work over time.
- 54:31Speaker 1: But we're gonna bet on us. Please walk straight out
- 54:34Speaker 1: of the Storm Mountain, Georgia. My man, he's on the fault,
- 54:37Speaker 1: Darren Buckner brother McDonald brother MG. Today. I lay you
- 54:44Speaker 1: out there there and then I lay you out there. Man.
- 54:47Speaker 1: You did you did, matter of fact, you you you,
- 54:49Speaker 1: you did so much, delf and I don't even know
- 54:51Speaker 1: what else was saying. You're gonna you know why because see,
- 54:54Speaker 1: first of all, the only thing that disappoints me about
- 54:57Speaker 1: not being able to skype is that we don't get
- 54:59Speaker 1: to see your shot. So please tell everybody the name
- 55:02Speaker 1: of your business and what you do at your business. Well,
- 55:05Speaker 1: we're Indicator, Georgia. It's where my business is. I live
- 55:08Speaker 1: in Stone Mountains and then in Atlanta now for about
- 55:11Speaker 1: um about nine years now. I moved here from Detroit, Michigan.
- 55:15Speaker 1: But we are we are Mega Helmets and Motorcycle Accessory.
- 55:19Speaker 1: We decided first of all to open up Mega Helmets
- 55:23Speaker 1: and Motorcycles Accessory Indicator Georgia because our community and you know,
- 55:28Speaker 1: I know you're big about our community, think about our community.
- 55:32Speaker 1: Our community does not have a motorcycle shot as many
- 55:37Speaker 1: motorcycles as Guy's ride in Atlanta, Georgia. You've been down here,
- 55:40Speaker 1: you have absolutely you know, brothers ride motorcycles all the time.
- 55:44Speaker 1: How come we don't have a place where we can
- 55:45Speaker 1: go buy help and our forty minutes outside the city
- 55:49Speaker 1: and didn't make any sense to me. And that's what
- 55:52Speaker 1: entrepreneurship is about. So you saw so let me just
- 55:54Speaker 1: tell you. So you saw a vision. You saw a vision.
- 55:57Speaker 1: But but how do you trust that vision? Darren? How
- 56:00Speaker 1: do you trust it? Well, it takes submitted to trust vision.
- 56:05Speaker 1: And it depends on how you grow up. I think
- 56:08Speaker 1: the way I grew up, And I'm gonna tell you
- 56:11Speaker 1: my background wasn't the prettiest background in the world. If
- 56:14Speaker 1: five brothers, I have five, it's five of us four siblings.
- 56:18Speaker 1: And we didn't grow up in the household that had money.
- 56:21Speaker 1: That's like must black folks. We went to regular public schools.
- 56:25Speaker 1: I remember being in the desegregation program that I hated.
- 56:29Speaker 1: That I hated, and thank God for a father who said,
- 56:33Speaker 1: you know what is he don't want to be in there?
- 56:34Speaker 1: Desegregation program. Don't let him be in there. Let him
- 56:36Speaker 1: go somewhere he's happy. He'll do well with his own
- 56:39Speaker 1: And that's what I did. And as an entrepreneur, what
- 56:44Speaker 1: we had to learn is I had to learn that
- 56:47Speaker 1: if you want to succeed, first of all, you have
- 56:49Speaker 1: to believe in you. And my father would continuously tell us,
- 56:54Speaker 1: he said, I don't care who the president is. And
- 56:57Speaker 1: that's no shot on Trump. Okay, well it is a
- 57:00Speaker 1: shot on front. But he said, I don't care who
- 57:04Speaker 1: the president is. She said. Let me tell you guys something.
- 57:07Speaker 1: He said, when it comes to my kids, all that
- 57:09Speaker 1: food up in that grocery store, and you think my
- 57:11Speaker 1: kids ain't gonna eat, not only they're gonna eat, but
- 57:13Speaker 1: they're gonna eat good. That right there alone is how
- 57:18Speaker 1: he made us think. He made us think it didn't
- 57:20Speaker 1: matter who or what kind of situation we were in.
- 57:23Speaker 1: He said, if you depend on yourself, you can always
- 57:26Speaker 1: take care of yourself. Now now, okay, now, so so
- 57:29Speaker 1: you had this vision because I'm gonna keep pressing this
- 57:31Speaker 1: because cee Cee, you you know you ain't you're even
- 57:34Speaker 1: making you're selling bibe q. You know what I'm saying
- 57:36Speaker 1: you didn't open up a car wash. You know what
- 57:38Speaker 1: I'm saying, you don't open up no clothes store. You know,
- 57:41Speaker 1: these are standard things and I'm not saying nothing wrong
- 57:44Speaker 1: with them. Beauty salon like my my younger brother has
- 57:47Speaker 1: four Beauty and Barbara salons in the DC area. You know,
- 57:51Speaker 1: you know, nail shops. See, this is things people can
- 57:54Speaker 1: wrap their head around if you did a business like that.
- 57:57Speaker 1: But you go, you know something, I'm a open helpmet
- 58:02Speaker 1: and motorcycle shop. Well come on, there's a whole lot
- 58:10Speaker 1: of people looked at you crazy, didn't Yeah yeah, well McDonald.
- 58:17Speaker 1: Let me say this. A lot of people think entrepreneur
- 58:20Speaker 1: means that you just opened a business. See, entrepreneur has
- 58:25Speaker 1: to be a visionary in the first place. We have
- 58:27Speaker 1: to see opportunity when you see something. See, we were
- 58:32Speaker 1: told something when we grow up. We said, oh, you
- 58:33Speaker 1: could be anything you want to be. He could be
- 58:35Speaker 1: an astronaut, you could be a fireman. And I think
- 58:37Speaker 1: about something they told my younger son. He's seven years
- 58:40Speaker 1: old and he went to school last year and they
- 58:43Speaker 1: told him, oh, you're a scooter salesman. Now his dad
- 58:46Speaker 1: owns the scooter shop at that time, Oh, you're a
- 58:49Speaker 1: scooter salesman. He said no, he said, I am the
- 58:53Speaker 1: scooter man. But he's in the first glade and they
- 58:55Speaker 1: constantly tell him, so, you're a scooter salesman. They put
- 58:57Speaker 1: a tag on this ship said he was a scooter
- 59:00Speaker 1: up and he came home sad because he said, I
- 59:02Speaker 1: tried to tell them. I tried to tell them that
- 59:05Speaker 1: I owned the school shot. The thing is, I teach
- 59:09Speaker 1: my son just like my father taught me, that really
- 59:12Speaker 1: it doesn't really matter what you do. So when people say, oh,
- 59:16Speaker 1: I'm gonna be a fireman, be an architect, I'm gonna
- 59:18Speaker 1: be some police chief, the truth of the matter is
- 59:21Speaker 1: all of those things are just things that when they
- 59:24Speaker 1: come for career day at school, they tell you what
- 59:26Speaker 1: you should be. See, they never walk into public schools
- 59:29Speaker 1: and tell you that you can own the fire truck
- 59:32Speaker 1: or own the company that manufactures the fire trucks. And
- 59:35Speaker 1: that's how I was a visionary because my father told me,
- 59:38Speaker 1: he said, well, if that man can do it, how
- 59:40Speaker 1: come you can't do it. Anything that someone else can
- 59:43Speaker 1: do that you can definitely do. And the thing is,
- 59:45Speaker 1: it's not about me being a visionary it's not even
- 59:47Speaker 1: about that little the twenty nine year old, the thirty
- 59:49Speaker 1: year old being a visionary McDonald. It's about what we're
- 59:52Speaker 1: gonna teach our children, so our generations that come after us,
- 59:56Speaker 1: those are the visionaries. Visionaries are made in children, not
- 59:59Speaker 1: in the those And that's what I learned. And that's
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: why my son could talk about finances right now. He
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: knows more about finances and most college people with people
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: with college degree because you because you're laying the framework
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: and making it normal for his life. Because that's when
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: my whole show, that's how I started off the show, Darren,
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: was about stereotypes, how people allow themselves to be boxed
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: in and whose people have said the opportunity. Like I
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: say this, I said, you know, in my lifetime, I've
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: been I've been a Negro, I've been a black, and
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: I've been in African American. No that way, nobody told
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: me gave me an option that I could have raised
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: my handset. How about white? Is that available? Is the available?
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: Nobody gave me that option because but they told you
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: what you are. And sometimes when people tell you what
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: you are, if you allow that to be the dominant angle,
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: then that's what you will be. And so your son,
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: your son said, look, I'm the owner. I'm the owner.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: Why at y'all listening to me? I'm not the salesperson.
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: I'm the owner. And that's a mentality that's great for
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: him to say, because guess what other people around him.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: I remember, I'm gonna telling this story right quick there
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: in my lifetime. You know, I don't drink or smoke.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: And believe me, my friends in college smoke, We crack
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: god drawn all that stuff, cigarettes, everything, you know. But
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: I always felt and the people ask me that. My
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: wife asked me to why I didn't drink because I
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: felt if I if I if I, if I did it,
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: did I think I would have. I would have change
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: the circumstances of everything around us because I held strong
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: about what I believe was the right thing to do.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: Now they own insurance firms, they bank presidents, these same people,
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: and I believe that if you hold strong to what
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: you are, then other people will turn in that direction
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: of positivity. And that's all I'm here for you, Darren,
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: That's all I'm hearing from you, brother, because you know
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: what McDonald, that's what it's about. We have to we
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: have to think and create the existence. We have to
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: create our reality. Since my partner Chris Nance always says
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: he's he's doing a book will sell your heart out.
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: He actually uh, he's a national trainer for Verizon for
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: Verizon Wireless and their stores and sell your heart out.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: He he talks about creating your reality. And that's something
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: him and I we grew up talking about and we said, man,
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: we don't have to be what they tell us what
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: we are, so it is up to us as parents
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: and grandparents. We we We can't save everybody that's here
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: right now. McDonald. You know that you've been out here
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: a long time and you've been doing business a long time,
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: from producer to writer and all that, and you can't
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: save them all. But I guarantee you when you see
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: those young kids walk through the door and they've come
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: through on the Parenthood or whatever shows you've done in
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: the past episodes, you can see that little kid and
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: you can tell him how great he could be. You
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: can tell him he could be if you want to correct,
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: you're absolutely correct. And I tell you something, man, That's
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: why I do the shows that I do. I've done
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: in television. That's why I do shows that are inspiring
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: for our community. You know, I've been offered all the
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: popular shows out there, all the property shows that through
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: glass because they're slappy in the face. I've been offered
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: the opportunity to create these shows, executive executive produce these shows.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: And you can talk to my lawyer. I said no,
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: because that's not the brand. That's not Rashan McDonald's brand.
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: My brand is about your son coming back home, said,
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: because he knows he's the owner and somebody telling he's
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: a salesperson, and he's not accepting that because that's not
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: the truth. That's not the brand, that's not the vision
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: that he sees for himself in life. I'm gonna tell
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: you something, man, Darren. We have to have you back,
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: my man. In fact, you need to start cutting sixty
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: second motivational Instagram promos and start putting them off there. Brother,
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: you are a talent there. And I gotta get your wife. Man. Okay,
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: I'll tell you what. I want your wife on the
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: show next Mark. If she anything like you, then I'm
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: gonna do a conference call with both of y'all and
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: we're gonna do two parts. We're gonna do his and
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: hugs she's gonna do that's that's so funny you say
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: that because my my wife has a college degree from
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: Michigan State University from Guyana. My wife always tells me
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: the story how she had to sleep on the floor
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: for a couple of years because she didn't have enough
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: money for a bid when she was at Michigan State
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: University off campus department. And my wife was making fifty
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: fifty thou dollars a year when she met me. But
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: one problem she had, she said she wasn't free. So
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: when we got together, we had to look at each
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: other and motivate each other, and we had to tell
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: each other what it is. And she saw the entrepreneurship
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: and me and I told her that you could do
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: it too. Right now, today, my wife has come up
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: with a brand new invention. You're gonna love her on
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: the show. She came up with this this cap call
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: is called the Pai Donna thermal cap. She came up
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: with this cap that no one in the country is doing.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: She came up with the idea. She used her sciences
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: to read that she took from Michigan State University and
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: she turned it around. So she left that sixty thod
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: dollars a year and she started her home headline. But
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: guess what Chief freed Free got off that corporate plantation. Ever,
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: come on, come on the Chief Free there, come on
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: my show next month? There? Can you come on our
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: show next there? Come there? I can't, I can't wait,
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: I can't. Money making conversations there, tell everybody about money
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: make coversation there. Well, man, we we got to tell
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: them to believe in money making conversations because this is
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: the type of programming that all of us needs. So, folks,
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: if you're gonna listen to something, turn off those FM
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: stations and don't give you enough but negativity and telling
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: you about Molly and purpose said, I'm not knocking that
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: brother for getting this money, but you know what, I'm
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: gonnaknock the message because the message ain't no good for
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: our kids. What we need to do is we need
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: to be listening to people like you on the radio.
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: That's gonna elevate our people, take us our whole another level,
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: a level that we've never been before, and take our
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: children and our children children to another level. And we
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: need to do this right now because this is a
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: perfect time. While you got people these so called White
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: Supremacy United. There's a perfect opportunity for us to unite,
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: to part each other, put off all in business and
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: get off that corporate plantation and go out and get
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: this money. Samantha, rebook My Man next month. I gotta
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: have him back. We ain't through it. We're gonna do
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: tool breaks next time. Him and then wife the His
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: and Her segment out of Atlanta, Georgia, My man, Daren,
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: Thank you brother, Thank you brother, Thank you brother. I
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: appreciate you. I appreciate the hype for Man. Coming up next,
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: the creator of Cafe Mocha radio syndication, Sheila eldred Boy,
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: the clips stopped until Robert Robert. They stopped the Roberts.
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: Hey has been waiting too long, and my back, Robert
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: and my back. Welcome back to money making Conversations. This
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: is your host, Sean McDonalds. My next guest is the
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: CEO of Miles Ahead Entertainment and Broadcast. More importantly, she's
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: the creator of Cafe Mocha Radio. Please work on the
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: money making conversation. Sheila eldredge Hello, Hello, Hello, Shea. How
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: you doing. I'm good, I'm good. Pull yet right now?
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: What are you? What are you're calling in from I'm
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: calling in from Washington, d C. And this this is
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: a big week, right, this is a big week. What's
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: happening on Thursday, Well on Friday, actually we're kicking off
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: the Salute Her Tour, which is Cafe Mocha's tour where
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: we honor women. We just decided about seven years ago
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: that we need to be about honoring and supporting one
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: another networking, and so that's what we do. So in
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: the four markets, um, starting with d C, New York, Charlotte,
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: and Chicago will be going in and having luncheons and
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: receptions and just you know, paying tribute to one another. Now.
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: So so that's the that's that's that's the core reason
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: that that Cafe Moca exists. There's the is I apologize
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: to got a lot of new listeners. I know you,
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: I know what Cafe More Radio is. Explain to everybody
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: what is Cafe Moke Radio. Cafe Moke Radio is essentially
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: a network and it's a radio show that is for women. Um,
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: it was created by women and for women. It's called
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: radio from a woman's perspective because we feel like, you know,
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: on the radio, you got a lot of men but
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: you know, we have a perspective too, and so it's
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: hosted by Lonnie Love, who you might comedian you might
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: know um as well. And Lonnie is you know, went
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: to school the Prayer Offew So yeah, HBCU UM. So
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: she's from down that way, UM, Lonnie Love, Angelie who's
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: a veteran broadcast for years. Yes, great producer, uh and
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: Yo Yo And so we started with mc light and
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: uh mc light, I know she was on last week
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: and you know she has a foundation and so she
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: got very busy. So she said, you know, I think
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: Yo Yo would be perfect for this and we so
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: now Yo Yo and so it's just three women. But
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: we call the Lifestyle Radio because we take on issues
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: and topics of today that will affect everyone. Um. But
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: at the same time, the music, we have the music
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: there to kind of help drive the conversation as well,
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: and that you know, kind of keeps things flowing. So
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: we call the Lifestyle Radio and it's called Radio from
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: a Woman's Perspective, and that's what it is. We're in
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: about thirty five markets around the country now and doing
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: really well. Thank you for your support because you were
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: there from the beginning. I'm gonna tell you. So, first
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: of all, you one of these people, your pioneer. Let's
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: go and get that out the work. Oh my gosh,
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: don't get that that way because because you said, you
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: said a little bit, this is the male dominated business,
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: you know. And then to launch a syndicated platform and
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: with longevity and a sense of purpose, that takes all work,
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: because you know, you got the executive reducer hat on,
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: you got the salesman hat on, you got the producer
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: hat on, and like you said, you know you lost
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: a ari exceptional talent like m C Light and you
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: kept moving forward with the same quality level and picked
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: up more stations. So expect I created money to make
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: conversations so people can hear that story, because you are
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: a story. And then, like I said in your pioneer,
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: so when you hear these things, you know told back
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: to you. What you tell people? Why? Why? What keeps
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: driving Sheila? What keeps driving you? I think what drives
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: me is that knowing that tomorrow could be the big Dad,
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: the day that we get that big break every day
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: gives you the opportunity to get a big break and
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: to take what is a vision and and mold it
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: into something and see it manifest. When you in corporate America,
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: you know, whether you do or don't, you know it's
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: gonna still move on. But when you work for yourself
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: as an entrepreneur, you know, if that is such a
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: driving to know that tomorrow could be that day and
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: they say no, you know tomorrow is not given well,
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: and so that kind of drives you to make the
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: day that you're in, the day that you keep moving forward.
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: Um also, you know, but there are some elements that
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: you have to be mindful of. One is, if you're
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: in a business, you got to know the business that
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: you're in. You also got to know the business. You
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: got to know finances. So always tell people as entrepreneurs,
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: take a class because many times we don't know just
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: the basics of how to manage our income and how
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: to manage the business because they're gonna be those lean
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: times and you have to know how to do that.
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: So if you take a class on accounting and just
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: understanding your business, then when you have to always have
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: a good accountant, You always have to have a great
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: c p. A. You gotta have a good lawyer. Those
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: are three partners that you have to have. And then
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: there's one other partners that whether you like that partner
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: or not, it's gonna always be there and you got
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: to give it its respect. But you also have to
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: strategize on how to work around and make sure that
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: it works for you. And that's the government. That's taxes.
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: The biggest thing with most small businesses that we don't
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: know how to manage and strategize our taxes, so we
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: get caught. And you can't be in business and not
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: have your taxes paid and not have you know, a
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: good rating on your business. So there some of the elements.
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: And I've been in business now, I hate to say,
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: well said, but it's a little bit a long time.
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: It's been about thirty years, right right, But that's why
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: I have you on the show because the thing about
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: is that every every decade the tax structure changes and
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: the rules changed. You know. I just saw a story
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: I remember in the you know, in the naties, I
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: promoted concerts, but now you know the ticketmaster rates high,
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: and then the ad rates on radio guns are high.
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: The profitability left. It's like, you know, so so that
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: meant that when you said that, laugh, because I remember
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: when I opened my communy club hip hop commedy stop
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: in Houston. Our tickets with ten dollars. I didn't know
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: you had to pay taxes or every ticket you sold.
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: So nay days later, you know, tax man came to
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: me a said, young man, you owe some money. I
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: said for what? He said on every ticket, you say
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: you aways eight percent? I go what? And he presented
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: me with a bill. If I didn't pay that bill,
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: then he was going to close down my club. So
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: that's what a good accounting. The CPA that you were
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: talking about are important, and without a doubt, I mean
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: you have to. I mean that's just the that's the
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: key to longevity and being in business and and it's
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: also the key to being able to raise money. You know,
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: we are the people we have a very difficult time
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: raising money. Other cultures they got family, they got friends
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: that would help invest in them. Shoot, when you start
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: a business, nobody wants to invest in because you're the
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: only one that sees your vision. And so you have
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: to be able to sustain to get to where you
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: can start raising money. Okay, we're on the phone. We're
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: here with missus Sheila Edwards. She's the creator, executive producer
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: of Cafe Mocha Radio after after tell everybody how important
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: that is to me and be able to let her
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: know because she she one of those people. She's like me, Well,
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: all those years with Steve, I stayed in the shadow,
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: and I'm still proud I stayed in the shadow. But
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: there's something out there that's move and creating change. And
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: Sheila Eldred is one of those people who create change.
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: As you hear articulate, this is a person on this
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: radio show that they're giving you free advice to be
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: successful because guess what, she don't want you to fail.
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: She don't want you to fail. And so your event
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: that you have in this Friday, what is the core
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: purpose of it? And can people buy tickets to it? Well,
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: we're will be in Washington, d C. And people can
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: buy tickets. It's on event right or you can go
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: to Salute Her dot com and purchase tickets there. We
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: started a foundation about three years ago. UM it's called
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: the More Cares Foundation because we were supporting so many
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: other foundations that what we wanted to do with start
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: something where we could help raise money and go into
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: shelters and work with foster kids for mental programs. And
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: that's really what the what the event is we raise
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: money for our Mocha Cares Foundation, but it's also, like
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: I said, to inspire and with the stories of the
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: women that we're on and when we're on it and
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: paym Grier, why you wouldn't believe the men that are
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: coming because they want to see believe. Come on now,
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: I saw I saw coffee the other day. Okay, I
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: saw coffee the other day, so you MIGHTSTI re shoe
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: this fright. You should come as our guest. This is
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: the beauty of what you do is it's so amazing
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: because the thing that I liked about what you said
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: is that you know it's it's groundbreaking. And since you're
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: trying to help people and you can't help enough people.
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: And I always tell people that I'm an American citizen.
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: I paid my taxes, and I guess what I want
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: other people pay their taxes. But all the time, they
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: can pay their taxes if you help them and position
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: to be able to be a taxpayer. And that's what
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: Cafe Moka is all about. That radio, that format is
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: radio for all women to be able to be successful,
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: to learn the value of the next step opportunity, isn't
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: that really true? No, no question, no question, because you know,
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: something so small to us because we're in it could
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: be so big to someone that's right on the edge
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: or someone that just needs a hand. Going into these shelters,
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: we're finding out that their women all they need is
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: just a hand, you know, just a little the clothes
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: they need, just you know, for the kids. And they're
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: very concerned about their kids. So things that are you know,
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: for us that have been in the industry and in
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: the music industry and everything, uh, we take for granted.
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: You know, you see how the small things in life
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: are the most valuable things in life. And that's really
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: what our purpose is now. Yes, yes, our sponsors are Toyota, Toyota,
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: the my yes, yes, yes uh arpcuse Matt, I mean
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: RS hair Care um. And then we have a lot,
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: you know a lot of small sponsors, but there are
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: big sponsors who have really brought into and believe our mission.
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: Toyota has been there for the last two years. A
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: RP came on board because they heard about it, and
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: O r AS hair Care has just been there with
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: us for the last two years as well. So that
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: that's pretty much you know, We're very proud of the
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: two and it's outgrowth of the radio show. Because now
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: when you're in business and you're in marketing, you've got
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: to be being able to touch people. And you taught
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: me this. You've got to be able to touch people
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: wherever they are, be it at an event, being on
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: their phone, being a podcast. In radio, we're on Serious XM.
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: You know, you've got to touch people wherever they are,
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: and that's how you have to go about marketing yourself
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: and your business. I know you're busy. Thank you for
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: taking the time to just tell Mayaviers on Facebook, my
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: listeners on my heart radio podcast k Y and d App.
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: You know I'm everywhere. You know, Like I said, I'm
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: like salt. You gotta have a salt that identitable that's me,
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: and you can have to come and cook for us.
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: Sometimes that I will do. I will bringe some baits
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: because j'all producer shot of l A correct. Okay, this
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: is what we're gonna do. Coordinate when you're gonna be
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: out there so we can go out there and do
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: a celebration because you know, I love Lonny and Angel leik.
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: I congratulation host. I know she got additional degree degree
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: this year, and and just just continually moving herselfs forward,
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: the team moving forward. Ladies and gentlemen. Uh, if you've
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: never heard of Cafe Mocha Radio, ladies and men, Ibe
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: radio dot com, you gotta you gotta listen to it.
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: It's amazing. I I enjoyed the interviews. That Angel Leak
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: has one of the best bosses in radio. They get
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: the top interviews. Nobody misses their format. She eldred. You
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: keep winning, girl, and you might see me this Friday
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: because you told me about Pambre. Come on, always stay
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: in a learning state of mind. Thank you, big timer.
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: Appreciate it. It's the last break, the last break might
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: to make conversation, overcoming barriers, overcoming stereotypes. If you trapped
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: in the box, just touch that lid, just touch you
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: a little bit and just raise one finger, just raise
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: it up with one finger. Guess what, don't you see
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: some light? Don't you see some light? Don't you some
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: something like coming in that box? All you did was
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: just raise that one finger up and crack the lid.
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: See once that leg get cracked, and you take that
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: other hand and you wrap those extend those fingers outside
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: that box. Not the leg can't come down no more.
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: Then you take that other hand and you got two
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: hands on the outside of that box. And what you
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: do is you climb out that box. But to climb
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: outside out that box gonna take effort, because guess what,
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: there are no steps on the side of that box.
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: That means that it's gonna take effort to get out
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: of that box. I'm just telling you how you can
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: get out. I can't make you get out. I can't
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: help you get out. It has to be something that
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: you want to do. That's how you overcome stereotypes. How
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: much effort are you willing to put into your life,
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: into your dream to be successful? Stereotypes will never stop me.
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: I can't let that happen. I will never let that happen.
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: I brought him back because I felt with short changed
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: him because he was on the mission. He's always on
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: the mission. Mr check made himself. Mr Hudsons, how you
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: doing more? O? Best thing about life? You know why
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: I get to hear from my mentor Rashaan, He's the
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: best in the world. Here's the deal man. You know
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: the name of your companies be someone ink correct sir,
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: And I noticed that every time you talk, every time
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: you apply something. It's a forward thinking process. Why is that, sir? Well,
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: to move ahead, you gotta fake ahead. You gotta always
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: keep moving forward. It's not hard you can it's not
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: hard you can get hit. It's how hard you can
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: get hit and keep moving forward. So you gotta constantly
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: be moving forward. Don't look to the left, don't look
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: to the light. Just keep moving forward. Now now, but
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: to get could you could your lord? You computer that
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: because I can hear myself talking that? All? Okay? So
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: should I now? Okay? Cool? We should be good. Now. Okay,
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: here's the deal. I know you've been the roadblock been
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: put in front of you. It's it's a road block
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: for everybody. How did you get around the roadblock? How
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: do you get around the speed bump? How do you
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: how do you get around that roadblocks? Of what you
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: see when you take your eye off the goals. So
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: just keep your goals and your faith and don't the
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: focus on the obstacle. Focus on your goal and keep
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: moving forward. See, depending on time with eventually swing on
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: your in your corner. If you don't give up, if
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: you don't look back. The biggest mistake you ever can do.
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: Your entire life is to give up. So never give
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: up and keep moving forward. Okay, do let everybody know
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: I got my man or back on the air. Please
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: r and tell everybody what you do. I got two
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: minutes left. I want to make sure they and how
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: they get in touch with you. Be someone as a
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: nonprofit five five one three organization that uses a game
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: of chess to teach young people how to think things through,
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: how to be a champion, how to move, think before
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: you move, and we use the game of chess as
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: a metaphor to teach people that you're born with everything
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: you need. You have your mind, you have your ability,
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: you have your talents, and you have time. Then you
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: can do the right you can make You can make
