- 1:58Speaker 1: on your thing? Got it? Uh huh, I shall will
- 2:04Speaker 1: Good morning everybody. You're listening to the voice, Come on,
- 2:08Speaker 1: come on, y'all dig me now. One and only Steve
- 2:11Speaker 1: Harvey got a radio show man. Is God good to me? Unbelievable? Yeah,
- 2:16Speaker 1: he is? And and I can only attribute it to
- 2:20Speaker 1: one thing. It's it's just been a turnaround in my life.
- 2:23Speaker 1: It's it's been me finally making a decision to see
- 2:27Speaker 1: what all God has from me, but at the same
- 2:30Speaker 1: time trying to be more God wants me to be
- 2:33Speaker 1: instead of more of what I want to be. That's
- 2:35Speaker 1: the trade off. You know, you gotta do something now,
- 2:37Speaker 1: you know, you know you want God's blessings. You gotta
- 2:40Speaker 1: be willing to do something on his behalf. And now
- 2:43Speaker 1: I'm not saying I got it right right now, because man,
- 2:47Speaker 1: I just don't. I'm just being real with you. I don't.
- 2:52Speaker 1: I don't have it all together by any stretch of imagination.
- 2:55Speaker 1: I'm trying to get better in several areas. I'm praying
- 2:59Speaker 1: about it, I'm working on it. But you know, it's
- 3:01Speaker 1: a process, and I've i've I've I've grown to accept
- 3:05Speaker 1: the process. But I'm improving in a lot of areas
- 3:08Speaker 1: from day to day. But I'll tell you what, Man,
- 3:10Speaker 1: my success, all that is going on with me, I
- 3:13Speaker 1: can only attribute to this turnaround. And to turnaround was simple.
- 3:18Speaker 1: I turned around and started looking at God. That was
- 3:22Speaker 1: a simple move. Man. I just turned around and started
- 3:25Speaker 1: looking at him. And I was going, Okay, I get it. Now,
- 3:28Speaker 1: you created me. You're the creator. You have a purpose
- 3:32Speaker 1: for me. I understand that. Now. Now let me just
- 3:36Speaker 1: walk in that purpose and let me get to doing
- 3:39Speaker 1: that purpose. Now, my purpose and your purpose and their
- 3:43Speaker 1: purpose and anybody's perfect purpose could be different, and the
- 3:47Speaker 1: way you go about the purpose can be different. And
- 3:51Speaker 1: that's the part that I've really grown up to. I've
- 3:54Speaker 1: opened up my mind to understanding that everybody is different,
- 3:58Speaker 1: nobody's quite the same, and that is not my right
- 4:01Speaker 1: or position to judge, but to be of a forgiving
- 4:05Speaker 1: spirit and understand and forgive those as I ask God
- 4:09Speaker 1: to forgive me. See that's the key. That's the key, y'all.
- 4:13Speaker 1: So when you out here and you stuck on this unforgiveness,
- 4:17Speaker 1: understand in in the large prayer as a segment that says,
- 4:22Speaker 1: forgive us our trust passes as we forgive those who
- 4:26Speaker 1: trust passed against us. There's another verge says forgive us
- 4:29Speaker 1: our debts as we forgive our debtors. It's two different versions,
- 4:34Speaker 1: but either one it means the exact same thing. It
- 4:38Speaker 1: means simply this that you are asking God to forgive
- 4:43Speaker 1: yours like you forgive others. Forgive us our trust passes
- 4:48Speaker 1: as we forgive those who trust passed against us When
- 4:51Speaker 1: I crossed the line with you, God handle me the
- 4:54Speaker 1: way I handle people when they crossed the line with me.
- 4:58Speaker 1: You feel what I'm saying to you? See, you understand that.
- 5:01Speaker 1: That's the breakdown of it. The best way I can
- 5:03Speaker 1: give it to you. Forgive us our trust passes as
- 5:07Speaker 1: we forgive those who trustpass against us. Forgive me God
- 5:11Speaker 1: for stepping over the line like I forgive those that
- 5:14Speaker 1: step over the line on me. That's the hard part, man,
- 5:18Speaker 1: that's the part man, I've really been working on. I've
- 5:20Speaker 1: been really trying to get that together. And so I've
- 5:23Speaker 1: learned forgiveness a lot better over the past five years
- 5:27Speaker 1: than I have before. And it's paid off. I can't
- 5:31Speaker 1: tell you how it was paid off, because now God's
- 5:35Speaker 1: mercy and grace is all over me, because I've learned
- 5:39Speaker 1: to become more graceful. Now I ain't graceful like him,
- 5:44Speaker 1: I ain't merciful like him, but I've learned to become
- 5:48Speaker 1: more more graceful, more merciful, because man, I can't live
- 5:52Speaker 1: my life like that. I just got sick of me. Man,
- 5:55Speaker 1: you're mad at me, now, I'm mad at you. You
- 5:58Speaker 1: hate on me, Now I'm gonna hate on you. I
- 6:00Speaker 1: ain't got time for that, man, I've got you. Look here,
- 6:03Speaker 1: you got somewhere to go. Hate take up time. It's
- 6:08Speaker 1: time consuming, and hating trying to seek revenge it's time consuming.
- 6:13Speaker 1: It take up way too much of your time to
- 6:16Speaker 1: seek revenge when vengeance ain't really yours. That's another one.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Vengeance is mine. Say if the lord it ain't yours.
- 6:24Speaker 1: So now when you go to seek it to take
- 6:26Speaker 1: it out, guess what you're doing. You're doing something now, man.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Now you off in the area that you've got no
- 6:33Speaker 1: business being in, and instead of steady climbing your ladder
- 6:36Speaker 1: like you supposed to, you didn't take out time for
- 6:39Speaker 1: vengeance to hate. I'm a hater. I'm gonna be a blogger.
- 6:45Speaker 1: I'm a blog about so and so. When you're blogging
- 6:48Speaker 1: about somebody, and most of these people you don't even
- 6:51Speaker 1: know when you're blogging about somebody what you're doing, what
- 6:55Speaker 1: you're hating. It takes time to hate. Man. I just decided, Man,
- 7:02Speaker 1: I gotta take all my time and instead of have
- 7:05Speaker 1: doing time and being active, I got to be pro active.
- 7:10Speaker 1: See some people get that confused being active and being
- 7:14Speaker 1: pro active. Pro is positive. Pro means to move forward.
- 7:19Speaker 1: You know, if you put pro in front of most words,
- 7:22Speaker 1: it's a positive influence. You know, does the pros and
- 7:26Speaker 1: the cons? The pros is the good side, the cons
- 7:30Speaker 1: is what can go wrong the bad side. You know,
- 7:33Speaker 1: if you're active, that's one thing, but if you pro active,
- 7:36Speaker 1: you're going forward. In a positive direction. When you become
- 7:40Speaker 1: a pro that means you're the best of the best
- 7:43Speaker 1: at whatever it is you chosen to be. I'm a
- 7:46Speaker 1: pro so somehow, and I know, uh English teacher, grammatical god.
- 7:53Speaker 1: The word pro a lot of times when you put
- 7:56Speaker 1: it in front of something means positiveness. So a lot
- 8:00Speaker 1: of people think that if you just active something all
- 8:03Speaker 1: to happen. Well, I'm doing something, and that's what happens. Man,
- 8:07Speaker 1: We just find ourselves doing a lot of busy work
- 8:09Speaker 1: that really ain't about nothing. It ain't going nowhere. It
- 8:11Speaker 1: ain't got no direction or no purpose because we haven't
- 8:14Speaker 1: tried to find out the direction of purpose. So you
- 8:17Speaker 1: wake up and you and you and your wheels are
- 8:19Speaker 1: spinning you a hamster on a tread meal. You're running
- 8:22Speaker 1: real fast, but you're just going in the same spot.
- 8:25Speaker 1: You understand, that's cause you're just out here being active
- 8:28Speaker 1: instead of proactive. Why don't you get God in your life?
- 8:31Speaker 1: Why don't you turn and face your creative and find
- 8:34Speaker 1: out how to become more proactive so you can do
- 8:38Speaker 1: things to move yourself forward. How you can get your
- 8:41Speaker 1: life off the ground and get off the tread mill
- 8:43Speaker 1: and really get it rolling in the direction that it
- 8:46Speaker 1: need to be going. Man, I'm telling you, God can
- 8:50Speaker 1: make that change for you if he see you making
- 8:53Speaker 1: the change for him. See the whole key, man, the
- 8:56Speaker 1: whole key is you got to be willing to do something.
- 8:59Speaker 1: You got to give God something to bless bless me God,
- 9:04Speaker 1: and then you go sit on your couch and you
- 9:06Speaker 1: ain't trying. Okay, bless me God with what? What? What? What?
- 9:11Speaker 1: What are you working with? He can't have the people
- 9:13Speaker 1: hire you if you ain't put the app in. Come on, man,
- 9:17Speaker 1: how you how you think this works? You know he
- 9:21Speaker 1: can't hear your body if you ain't gonna take the
- 9:23Speaker 1: medicine and you ain't gonna do none of the things
- 9:25Speaker 1: to counteract. You know, you you you can't get lung
- 9:30Speaker 1: cancer and then keep smoking and then expect the blessing
- 9:34Speaker 1: to come. Come on, man, the blessing comes when you
- 9:37Speaker 1: make a proactive step, when you try to do something
- 9:41Speaker 1: on the positive side. Look, man, I'm gonna quit messing
- 9:45Speaker 1: around with all these people. I'm gonna start going home.
- 9:47Speaker 1: I'm gonna leave these women loaning out here. You got
- 9:50Speaker 1: to say, all right, man, I ain't going over that
- 9:52Speaker 1: at enough. I just ain't gonna get then God can
- 9:55Speaker 1: work with you. God help me stop seeing all these women.
- 9:59Speaker 1: But you steady on over there calling them setting up stuff.
- 10:03Speaker 1: We can nobody help you, because once you get over there,
- 10:06Speaker 1: you already know. See. You gotta get proactive. You gotta
- 10:11Speaker 1: do something yourself. You make one step, he'll make two.
- 10:15Speaker 1: That's that's the key, man. So come on, y'all, you
- 10:18Speaker 1: know what. We can straighten this thing all the way
- 10:20Speaker 1: out for ourselves. You don't have to be wondering what's
- 10:24Speaker 1: going on all the time. You don't have to be
- 10:27Speaker 1: confused anymore. You don't have to have your life in
- 10:30Speaker 1: the rut. You don't have to hate waking up in
- 10:32Speaker 1: the morning. You don't have to feel like your life
- 10:35Speaker 1: is going nowhere. There is an answer for all. It
- 10:37Speaker 1: is turn around and look at God. Why what you
- 10:43Speaker 1: got to lose? Why would you not try it? Just
- 10:46Speaker 1: turn around and face him, Turn around and try to
- 10:50Speaker 1: make yourself a more righteous brother. Just look, man, I'm
- 10:53Speaker 1: gonna do better. You feeling all right, Let's go to
- 10:56Speaker 1: theare y'all you're listening to show ladies and gentlemen, boys
- 11:03Speaker 1: and girls, we are not shorthanded this morning. But this
- 11:09Speaker 1: is the original three. This is how it started off
- 11:12Speaker 1: in two thousand and eighteen. That was no one else,
- 11:15Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, Shirley Strawberry, Hey, good morning, Steve Harvey
- 11:20Speaker 1: and the fool himself. Yes, sir, Top of the Morning,
- 11:25Speaker 1: Sorry for that delay. Right the Top of the Morning
- 11:29Speaker 1: was talking. It's the trio. It's the original trie. This
- 11:35Speaker 1: is how the radio started, folks. Back in two thousand.
- 11:38Speaker 1: It was just US three. It was only US three,
- 11:43Speaker 1: and it was really mostly just me and Shirley because
- 11:46Speaker 1: Tommy was not coming to work back then, or yeah,
- 11:50Speaker 1: because and if he didn't make it, he thought he
- 11:52Speaker 1: could do it from his bed, he would just call
- 11:55Speaker 1: in on his phone. On the average, Shirley, Why many
- 11:58Speaker 1: times do you think Tommy called in in a month?
- 12:00Speaker 1: Oh my god, in a month. In a month, oh
- 12:03Speaker 1: at least every at least twice a week, three times,
- 12:07Speaker 1: maybe two or three times. We worked five days ago.
- 12:11Speaker 1: It was so early back I did. I did not
- 12:14Speaker 1: take it serious. It was six o'clock, tom That was
- 12:17Speaker 1: early for me. I do not understand. I do not.
- 12:24Speaker 1: I could not understand man, how he thought that he
- 12:28Speaker 1: could have his job. And that was nepotism. That's what
- 12:32Speaker 1: you get firing your nephew. I've done a lot better, though,
- 12:37Speaker 1: did I grow? I did grow? Yeah, you come to
- 12:40Speaker 1: work mostly Tuesday through Friday. But you're here. If your
- 12:46Speaker 1: mother was she well, now you know if Tommy has
- 12:52Speaker 1: to work on the weekends, he won't be there on Mondays.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Got you paid? But my mom though, yeah, she always
- 13:02Speaker 1: knew that about you. But you're here now, Helen. I
- 13:05Speaker 1: know Carl is out. I think she had to drop
- 13:08Speaker 1: her baby off where she had to go to a
- 13:09Speaker 1: program for Tasha this morning. So she's on her way. Yes,
- 13:13Speaker 1: the end of you, we'll get your baby. You got
- 13:17Speaker 1: start song, start not cooling anywhere. You've got a lot
- 13:20Speaker 1: of babies, Yeah, you got enough babies. Is Marjorie pregnant?
- 13:23Speaker 1: Are you trying to tell us something? Man? What would
- 13:29Speaker 1: you do if she was pregnant? I just drive off.
- 13:33Speaker 1: I'm not gonna do this. The pitter patter of little
- 13:35Speaker 1: feet running around. Friend of mine is having a baby?
- 13:41Speaker 1: Your friend, Yeah, he's having a baby. He's seven. God,
- 13:49Speaker 1: and his wife is pregnant right now. Oh my god.
- 13:53Speaker 1: And he just told me yesterday. Well, is is she
- 13:56Speaker 1: a young younger woman? Because I know what we just
- 14:00Speaker 1: to our Brigitte Nielsen last week. She's fifty four and pregnant.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Is your boy gonna make graduation? Okay, she'll be fine. Good,

- 15:25Speaker 1: and how these people don't invite him. So Roscoe just went, hey, look,
- 15:30Speaker 1: I'm going to do this. I'm about to do this.

- 18:08Speaker 1: to be I'll just tell you, man, he just never
- 18:10Speaker 1: got that big break where he was out there. But
- 18:14Speaker 1: he wrote so many songs in it. So many people
- 18:17Speaker 1: old their careers to him. Who Roscoe, fill the fire,
- 18:29Speaker 1: Jimmy Jam Roscoe, Jimmy, the Legends, lou Ful Mara, Shaka Khan,

- 19:23Speaker 1: she had to go, you know, and and be with

- 20:12Speaker 1: a bro. Would you stop what y'all doing it? Any day? Well,
- 20:19Speaker 1: you know, we just heard your rendition of spend My

- 21:11Speaker 1: you wrote this one to Roscoe? Coming up next? It
- 21:13Speaker 1: is run that prank back with the nephew the kids
- 21:17Speaker 1: right after this. You ain't wrote it. It's the one

- 21:31Speaker 1: Tommy Frank phone call. We'll be right back right. You're

- 21:48Speaker 1: we'll talk about all of that at the top of
- 21:50Speaker 1: the hour right now. It is the nephew, the King
- 21:52Speaker 1: of Franks would run that prank back, as we just
- 21:55Speaker 1: discovered earlier. Uh, they were all written by Roscoe. We
- 22:00Speaker 1: gonna boy told right. I dedicate this to all the

- 22:53Speaker 1: all right, here's where we're having some problems here, going

- 23:00Speaker 1: records that we have here headquarters. You're not actually an
- 23:03Speaker 1: official member of five Beta Sigmas. I don't know what
- 23:07Speaker 1: has taken place, but the minute, what you mean not
- 23:11Speaker 1: a member? Looking at our records here at national Headquarters,
- 23:13Speaker 1: it's indicating that you're not an official member of five
- 23:17Speaker 1: Beta Sigma. I don't know what could have gone wrong
- 23:20Speaker 1: with this? Now that ain't right because see depth of
- 23:23Speaker 1: data is recognized nationally, so why wouldn't I be nationally recognized?
- 23:27Speaker 1: I'm not certain, sir. Maybe it's something that took place
- 23:29Speaker 1: on that that actual line of all. We're actually going
- 23:34Speaker 1: to have to do some research on everything that's going
- 23:36Speaker 1: on with your line as well as the chapter. But
- 23:38Speaker 1: how is that possible that they gave if they gave
- 23:40Speaker 1: me a certificate in the in the plaque and I
- 23:43Speaker 1: got my my pin and I mean I'm a Sigma.
- 23:46Speaker 1: What you mean? Okay, sir? I don't know what I'm
- 23:48Speaker 1: looking at here, and and and please understand, I want
- 23:51Speaker 1: to try to clear this matter up. Yeah, yeah, if
- 23:53Speaker 1: we need to do this matter? Who? Who is there
- 23:56Speaker 1: somebody there like oversee, uh, maybe a the head president
- 24:01Speaker 1: or your branch or something I can talk to something. Well,
- 24:03Speaker 1: I'm actually I am actually over pledged relations uh and
- 24:06Speaker 1: I wanted to give you a call personally so we
- 24:08Speaker 1: can try to rectify the matter. And it's gonna take
- 24:11Speaker 1: us some time to hiring this thing out. And you
- 24:13Speaker 1: know what the problem is that I'm noticing is that
- 24:16Speaker 1: all of the people that were on your line they
- 24:18Speaker 1: are official. For some reason, Mr Gregg isn't official, So
- 24:22Speaker 1: I want to I don't understand that because I was
- 24:25Speaker 1: the line president. So how how is everybody else able
- 24:29Speaker 1: to be a sigma and not me when I did
- 24:31Speaker 1: all the paperwork that it takes to for the process
- 24:35Speaker 1: to be right. I don't understand, sir. You know what, brother? Uh,
- 24:39Speaker 1: I can't call you brother for the fact that right
- 24:41Speaker 1: now because I'm a Sigma. So here's what we're gonna
- 24:44Speaker 1: have to do. Greg, We're gonna have to get you
- 24:46Speaker 1: to First of all, if you're dealing with anybody alumni wise,
- 24:50Speaker 1: we're asking that you don't go to any meetings right now.
- 24:53Speaker 1: We're also asking that you don't wear any five beta
- 24:57Speaker 1: Sigma Pal for now. At this point, we want to
- 24:59Speaker 1: make sure and get clarity that you are definitely a brother. Man. Man,
- 25:04Speaker 1: I am definitely a brother. Do you know what I
- 25:06Speaker 1: had to go through to get where I am today?
- 25:09Speaker 1: To be a signal all the do y'all y'all took
- 25:11Speaker 1: y'all dudes whatever to that. If you're taking my dudes,
- 25:14Speaker 1: you should be able to tell me yo. Man, um,
- 25:16Speaker 1: we got this going on. Certain things that going on
- 25:19Speaker 1: with your line. We need to we need to check you.
- 25:21Speaker 1: You took our money. That's the thing I'm seeing checks
- 25:24Speaker 1: that have gone through for other people on that line.
- 25:26Speaker 1: I don't sell, man, And to this day, I'm like
- 25:29Speaker 1: a lifetime member. So what the hell are you talking about?
- 25:31Speaker 1: I have no records indicating that your lifetime. Remember that's
- 25:34Speaker 1: what I'm saying. We got dog, somebody needs to tell
- 25:38Speaker 1: me something today. We're gonna try to get to the
- 25:40Speaker 1: end of this by the end of the week. It's
- 25:42Speaker 1: gonna take no no, no, but no, but no, but no.
- 25:44Speaker 1: You're not understanding what I'm saying, man, because I'm a
- 25:46Speaker 1: signal to the heart. Dude. You know what I'm talking about,
- 25:48Speaker 1: y'all playing with my heart? Right now. Man, Ain't nobody's
- 25:51Speaker 1: gonna do that and get away with I don't know
- 25:52Speaker 1: what going on? You know, here's what we can do.
- 25:55Speaker 1: We can bring you back in and do another pledging process.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Pledge be understand what you just said to me. No, man,
- 26:02Speaker 1: that that ain't happen. Dog, I've been through this already. Man,
- 26:04Speaker 1: I'm not pledging. I'm not signing my name on nothing
- 26:08Speaker 1: else because I have pledged. I'm not doing it. I
- 26:11Speaker 1: need to get somebody on the phone that can answer
- 26:13Speaker 1: my question. I want to know what's going on, okay
- 26:15Speaker 1: right now? And I understand you know, the disbelief of
- 26:18Speaker 1: what's going on. I really do you obviously don't you
- 26:22Speaker 1: a brother? Brother? We're gonna what year did you go across?
- 26:25Speaker 1: Did you walk the fans? Let me tell me what's
- 26:28Speaker 1: going on. Brother, I'm fall eighty nine, brother, and that
- 26:31Speaker 1: what we're gonna have to do right now is first
- 26:33Speaker 1: of all, no paraphernelia. You're trying to tell me that
- 26:38Speaker 1: I can't well what's nearest and dearest to my heart,
- 26:41Speaker 1: next to my wife and my child. You're telling me
- 26:43Speaker 1: that I can't go around to proclaim where I am.
- 26:46Speaker 1: That's like telling me I can't be black. What the
- 26:47Speaker 1: hell are you saying? And another thing we're going to
- 26:49Speaker 1: get you to do. Understand, you have a brand, Sigma brand.
- 26:53Speaker 1: That's what I have to come off until we until
- 26:55Speaker 1: we get this taken care of. What wit man? You
- 26:58Speaker 1: talk about them medical procedure. What are you saying? So
- 27:02Speaker 1: we cannot allow you to wear a brand representing five
- 27:06Speaker 1: Beta Sigment when right now you are not on You
- 27:08Speaker 1: can't five a lot that that brand me was allowed
- 27:11Speaker 1: to put the brand on me. Now I can't be
- 27:13Speaker 1: allowed to wear something I've been wearing for almost fifteen
- 27:16Speaker 1: years of you crazy. Come on, man, thats some crazy.
- 27:20Speaker 1: So we gotta get you to take your of me
- 27:22Speaker 1: until all the brand What the hell ayout? Man? This
- 27:26Speaker 1: is some look here brother, but not what Bernard? Is that?
- 27:29Speaker 1: What your name is? You need to get somebody on
- 27:32Speaker 1: this minute. That's all right, I know the president still
- 27:36Speaker 1: how about that? I would just call in and I'll
- 27:39Speaker 1: figured out my bill. Right now, we need you to
- 27:43Speaker 1: take the brand off. You comen't take the brand off
- 27:47Speaker 1: of me. And if you wanted that bad come get it.
- 27:50Speaker 1: That's what you do. You are not a member of
- 27:52Speaker 1: five Beta Sick don't give up. You talking about dog.
- 27:56Speaker 1: I am a remember if you want something over here,
- 27:58Speaker 1: I land your boy. What you do, you're bad, come
- 28:01Speaker 1: do it. So I'm telling you for the final time,
- 28:04Speaker 1: do not wear any paraphern Now you keep don't want
- 28:07Speaker 1: to hear that talking about no final. Let me tell
- 28:10Speaker 1: you what's final. I am a five better sigma to
- 28:13Speaker 1: the hard blue. Sir. All I'm telling you is no
- 28:17Speaker 1: more shirts and cover that brand up until we're here. Man,
- 28:21Speaker 1: I'm gonna wear everything. I got a hat I'm ahead of.

- 28:52Speaker 1: what one more thing I need to say to you.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Are you literally to say what you gotta say you

- 29:00Speaker 1: Harby Martin Show. You just got pranked by your boy.

- 29:12Speaker 1: Y'all boy, one more pay man. What is the baddest
- 29:15Speaker 1: radio show in the land? Greg? What is it? Steve
- 29:18Speaker 1: Harby Morning Show? Ain't dang dedication? Blue five Blue. It
- 29:35Speaker 1: was so serious about it. I got something going on now.
- 29:40Speaker 1: You know, my wife is a member of Alpha Kappa
- 29:42Speaker 1: Alpha Sorority Incorporated. The Boolet is in Houston, Texas this year,
- 29:49Speaker 1: so I am throwing a party. It's a night celebrating
- 29:52Speaker 1: women ex sat of the July the seventh at the
- 29:55Speaker 1: Health Museum in Houston, Texas. You do not want to
- 29:57Speaker 1: miss it. You can go to your bit bright dot
- 29:59Speaker 1: com and he is the key word open bar, open ball.
- 30:06Speaker 1: That's it, open ball. I got a lavish buffet, I
- 30:14Speaker 1: got red carpet, I got a live band, I got
- 30:17Speaker 1: a DJ and the key words to everybody open ball.
- 30:23Speaker 1: All right, thank you. If you coming up next, President
- 30:25Speaker 1: Trump is trying to prove that sports teams like him.
- 30:30Speaker 1: We'll talk about it right after this. You're listening to
- 30:33Speaker 1: the Steve Harvey Morning Show coming up in twenty minutes,
- 30:37Speaker 1: R and B Legend Pebo Bryson plus legendary producers. Yes,
- 30:41Speaker 1: Jimmy jam and Terry Lewis will be our special guest.
- 30:45Speaker 1: But first now, this is according to TMZ, President Trump
- 30:48Speaker 1: is furiously trying to prove the sports teams really like him.
- 30:52Speaker 1: The pros I'm talking about now, despite the Philadelphia Eagles
- 30:56Speaker 1: not coming to a White House by listing off all
- 30:58Speaker 1: of the championship team who have accepted his invitations. Trump
- 31:02Speaker 1: called off the Eagles visit after learning only a small
- 31:06Speaker 1: number of players were actually planning to attend, so he
- 31:10Speaker 1: disinvited them or uninvited them. Uh. The others had opted
- 31:14Speaker 1: out for several reasons, including trump stand on the national anthem.
- 31:18Speaker 1: Protest Um President of the United States has been taking
- 31:22Speaker 1: heat over the move from athletes and politicians, including Philly
- 31:26Speaker 1: mayor Jim Kennedy, who ripped Trump as um a fragile egomaniac,
- 31:32Speaker 1: obsessed with um crowd size and afraid of the embarrassment
- 31:36Speaker 1: of throwing a party to which no one wants to attend.
- 31:40Speaker 1: Trump responded, Yeah, right. Trump responded to his critics with
- 31:44Speaker 1: a flurry of tweets yesterday morning. We have had many
- 31:47Speaker 1: championship teams recently at the White House, including the Chicago Cubs,
- 31:51Speaker 1: the Astros, UH, Pittsburgh Penguins, New England Patriots, Alabama Clemson
- 31:56Speaker 1: National champions, and many others. So that's his clapped back,
- 32:01Speaker 1: all right, But he uninvited them when he found out
- 32:04Speaker 1: on an interesting guy because he's just really he's a
- 32:12Speaker 1: president that's concerned with so many non presidential things and
- 32:17Speaker 1: all he's concerned about our small victories that personally embellished him,
- 32:23Speaker 1: and nothing else matters. He took this whole issue with
- 32:28Speaker 1: this not standing changing narrative, flipped it around, made him
- 32:33Speaker 1: about him. He turned it into an anti flag, anti
- 32:39Speaker 1: military stance, which it wasn't at all. He successfully did that,
- 32:44Speaker 1: and that's all that matters to him. He's fighting this
- 32:47Speaker 1: collusion thing because he doesn't want it to appear as
- 32:50Speaker 1: though that his presidency is not authentic or you know
- 32:58Speaker 1: that he didn't it on its own that he had helped.
- 33:02Speaker 1: So he's fighting that instead of saying, hey, we got
- 33:05Speaker 1: to prevent any country from tampering with our election process,
- 33:10Speaker 1: which clearly they got involved in. Okay, there is no
- 33:14Speaker 1: collusion been proven yet, but there is proof and everybody
- 33:18Speaker 1: knows it that Russia did tamper with the election. They
- 33:22Speaker 1: got involved in the electoral process with Facebook and a
- 33:25Speaker 1: couple of other things though, right, So everybody knows that
- 33:29Speaker 1: he's so worried that that's trying to say collusion. All
- 33:32Speaker 1: he wants to do is they had nothing to do.
- 33:34Speaker 1: They did affect the election. They did tamper with the election.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Instead of him fighting that, he's defending the fact that
- 33:42Speaker 1: he's the legitimate president. You're the president. Is nothing we
- 33:45Speaker 1: can do about this now to half ended this man,
- 33:47Speaker 1: you dude, right, but it's not doing nothing. He can't
- 33:51Speaker 1: do anything, Tommy, because he's so busy concerning himself with nothing.
- 33:57Speaker 1: I I I I that he passed that tax bill.
- 34:01Speaker 1: But boy, if y'all could look at it, if y'all
- 34:02Speaker 1: really understood what that tax bill was, man, y'all be sick.
- 34:09Speaker 1: All right, It's time to get caught up on today's
- 34:12Speaker 1: national news. So Steve, please and trip, thank you very much.
- 34:18Speaker 1: This is a trip with the news, and let's give
- 34:19Speaker 1: you a little bit more information. First of all, let's
- 34:21Speaker 1: start out with Mexico. Mexico is retaliating against the Trump
- 34:24Speaker 1: Administration's tariffs on steel and aluminum exports by slapping duties
- 34:29Speaker 1: on American goods on everything from pork products to fruit
- 34:33Speaker 1: other agricultural products, along with whiskey steel parts used in
- 34:36Speaker 1: cars manufactured both south of the border as well as
- 34:39Speaker 1: here in the US, and the new levies range from
- 34:41Speaker 1: fifteent depending on the product. Last Friday, President Trump imposed
- 34:46Speaker 1: tariffs are on steel and ten percent on aluminum. Those
- 34:50Speaker 1: went into effect and now Canada are neighbor to the
- 34:53Speaker 1: north and members of the European Union also slapping duties
- 34:56Speaker 1: on American products. Meanwhile, send a majority Leader. Mitch occonnell
- 35:00Speaker 1: has canceled the Senate's annual August recess. He's claiming that's
- 35:03Speaker 1: because Democrats are slow walking Senate action on President Trump's nominations,
- 35:07Speaker 1: something the Democrats, by the way, accused the GOP of
- 35:10Speaker 1: for the whole eight years President Obama was in office. Anyway,
- 35:13Speaker 1: McConnell says senators are going to take the month to
- 35:16Speaker 1: work on spending bills and send a minority leader. Chuck
- 35:18Speaker 1: Schumer says he'd like to see some progress on healthcare legislation. Nevertheless,
- 35:23Speaker 1: he hopes that the President will be rolling up his
- 35:25Speaker 1: sleeves too. We assume he'll be here in Washington working
- 35:28Speaker 1: right alongside us. Given the urgency off we these weeks,
- 35:32Speaker 1: we presume he won't be jetting off to bed Minister
- 35:34Speaker 1: or mar Lago. We're spending countless hours on the golf course.
- 35:38Speaker 1: I guess we'll see. By the way in the heels
- 35:40Speaker 1: of President Trump's disinviting the NFL champion Philadelphia Eagles to
- 35:44Speaker 1: his little fun La doom at the White House yesterday
- 35:46Speaker 1: when he found out that only about ten members of
- 35:48Speaker 1: the team, we're gonna show up the Cleveland Cavaliers, Lebron
- 35:51Speaker 1: James says, no matter which NBA team wins the championship
- 35:55Speaker 1: this year, neither team that means his are the Golden
- 35:58Speaker 1: State Warriors are gonna visit Trump White House either, so
- 36:01Speaker 1: don't count on them. Attorneys for former Illinois Governor Rod
- 36:04Speaker 1: Bolgoievitch have final the official paperwork needed to request that
- 36:08Speaker 1: the President commute the last eight years of his fourteen
- 36:10Speaker 1: year prison sentence for bribery and corruption. Lugoievitch was convicted
- 36:14Speaker 1: of extorting campaign contributions and are trying to sell the
- 36:16Speaker 1: U S. Senate seat left vacant when Barack Obama was
- 36:19Speaker 1: elected president to the highest bidder, but did it operate
- 36:22Speaker 1: pay a piece of the Lugoievic wrote in The Wall
- 36:25Speaker 1: Street Journal last week, says that he served six years
- 36:27Speaker 1: in prison so far for just playing politics and everyday fundraising.
- 36:31Speaker 1: Even former US Attorney General Eric Holder, by the way,
- 36:34Speaker 1: says he feels the former governor sentence was a little
- 36:36Speaker 1: it's a little steep there. Investigation underway into the death
- 36:39Speaker 1: yesterday of handbag designer Kate Spade, who reports say was
- 36:42Speaker 1: found hanging in her Park Avenue, New York apartment. Police
- 36:45Speaker 1: say Spade left a suicide note to her thirteen year
- 36:47Speaker 1: old daughter, apparently referencing her husband. And Yeah, the people
- 36:53Speaker 1: who run the Miss America pageant say they win. Will
- 36:56Speaker 1: no longer be judged on their looks. No swim seed
- 36:58Speaker 1: competition or none of that anymore. We'll be back with
- 37:00Speaker 1: more entertainment Today's trending topics twenty after the hour, Steve
- 37:04Speaker 1: Harvey Morning Show. You're listening Steve Harvey Morning Show. Hey, y'all,

- 38:23Speaker 1: anyone else to do it at this particular point because
- 38:27Speaker 1: it's not about dollars or anything like that. For me,
- 38:29Speaker 1: it's about honor and in legacy. At this particular point.
- 38:33Speaker 1: So you have to you have to pair yourself with
- 38:35Speaker 1: people that you really trust that can actually get it done.

- 45:23Speaker 1: I know it is the nephew. With today's prank phone call.
- 45:26Speaker 1: What you got naw, yo, baby got my baby name?
- 45:31Speaker 1: Huh that's it, yo, baby got my baby's name. He
- 45:37Speaker 1: ain't listen to this. Hello, Hello, I'm trying to reach
- 45:42Speaker 1: uh Patrician Patricia. Who is it? How you doing? Listen? Um?
- 45:47Speaker 1: My name is Floyd. Floyd. I want to give you
- 45:49Speaker 1: a call your your daughter she was teens middle school, right,
- 45:53Speaker 1: what's your name again. Okay, what can I do? Right? Well,
- 45:58Speaker 1: like I said, your your daughter she goes she do
- 46:00Speaker 1: go to middle school, right yeah, okay, Now her name,
- 46:03Speaker 1: her name is Dereka. We know that. Okay. Well something no, no, no,
- 46:10Speaker 1: not nothing wrong. I mean I don't mean the along
- 46:11Speaker 1: you're nothing like that. But let me see what. Well,
- 46:16Speaker 1: here's the situation. My daughter actually goes to middle school
- 46:20Speaker 1: along along with with your daughter. And it's it's a
- 46:25Speaker 1: bit of a problem that that that has arisen that
- 46:27Speaker 1: me and my wife just found out about some issues.
- 46:31Speaker 1: Derek and your baby in in some kind of trouble
- 46:35Speaker 1: or something. No, no, no, no, nothing like that. But
- 46:38Speaker 1: I say, you don't with nobody at that school. She
- 46:41Speaker 1: don't mess with nobody. She owned the honor roll and everything.
- 46:43Speaker 1: I don't have no problems out of Dereka, right, okay,
- 46:50Speaker 1: let me know. Let me tell you Ms. Patricia with
- 46:52Speaker 1: the problem is, see, my daughter name is Dereka, so
- 46:58Speaker 1: and it just blew me and my wife way that
- 47:00Speaker 1: it was another Dereka that went to school. Okay, I
- 47:05Speaker 1: don't know too many Derecas. That's a unique name. That's cute, okay,
- 47:09Speaker 1: right right, Well, here's the problem. Me and my wife. Actually,
- 47:13Speaker 1: you know, when it was time to name my child,
- 47:15Speaker 1: we thought we was really picking a name that nobody
- 47:18Speaker 1: would have a check out for their daughter and to
- 47:20Speaker 1: have another Dereka in the school. That blew us away.
- 47:23Speaker 1: And I guess the real reason why I'm trying to
- 47:26Speaker 1: call you, miss Patricia. See if if, if there's something
- 47:29Speaker 1: maybe we can work out, you know, maybe uh, like
- 47:32Speaker 1: your Dereka does middle name or nickname she can be
- 47:37Speaker 1: called by in opposed to both of them being Derek.
- 47:41Speaker 1: You really wanted I try to be the only one
- 47:43Speaker 1: with this name. Okay, wait, wait, wait, wait, now you're
- 47:47Speaker 1: calling me? Are you asking me to change my baby's name? Well,
- 47:50Speaker 1: I mean you you ain't really got to legally change
- 47:53Speaker 1: I mean, but just started calling us something else, you know. No, no,
- 47:56Speaker 1: wait a minute, so you naming police or something. Do
- 48:00Speaker 1: you know how many Ants and Louises and Patricia's out there?
- 48:03Speaker 1: What if I asked everything in the United States to
- 48:06Speaker 1: change their name from Patricia? You know how crazy that is?
- 48:09Speaker 1: And I understand that you must be on drugs. Know
- 48:12Speaker 1: what I'm trying to say is you know this, this
- 48:15Speaker 1: is something that we really have our baby girl? Was
- 48:17Speaker 1: this name, and we didn't want nobody else to have this.
- 48:19Speaker 1: So does your Derreka Havel have a middle name? She can?
- 48:21Speaker 1: You know we're gonna call her Dereka like we've been
- 48:25Speaker 1: calling your name, your baby d D. Let's call your
- 48:27Speaker 1: baby d D. Is you change y'all? Y'all change your
- 48:30Speaker 1: baby name at the school. I'm not calling I'm not
- 48:32Speaker 1: calling my name. I don't give you what you call it,
- 48:35Speaker 1: but I'm not changing my baby name. He look, okay, look,
- 48:38Speaker 1: I'm trying to call you and handle us like adults.
- 48:41Speaker 1: You know what you're seeing to see. You're gonna push
- 48:43Speaker 1: my fund and to take me to another level? What
- 48:45Speaker 1: is you ain't calling me trying to handle us? It
- 48:47Speaker 1: doesn't ask me to change my baby name. Called my
- 48:49Speaker 1: baby something else at the school because y'all want your
- 48:52Speaker 1: baby name to be Derek and the only Dereka in
- 48:54Speaker 1: the school. Have you know how many other kids at
- 48:56Speaker 1: the damn school got the same name. I understand that,
- 48:59Speaker 1: but for my baby girl, it ain't supposed to be
- 49:02Speaker 1: like that. I'm sorry, I'm spy. Baby girl ain't your wife,
- 49:06Speaker 1: but you know I'm got changing my baby damn name.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Y'all calling y'all, baby, Do you know what I'm trying
- 49:12Speaker 1: to do is get it rectified that we can call
- 49:15Speaker 1: you get my phone number. I know that school ain't
- 49:18Speaker 1: give you my number. I got your numb don't worry
- 49:20Speaker 1: about how I got it. The problem is that what
- 49:22Speaker 1: we're talking about right now is can we what can
- 49:24Speaker 1: we start calling your child? I don't give it. I
- 49:27Speaker 1: know that school ain't called you number. Listen, ma'am. All
- 49:31Speaker 1: I'm trying to do is thing out. What can we
- 49:33Speaker 1: start calling your daughter Dan cut that she's been being
- 49:37Speaker 1: called you and your wife Guy, I need to go
- 49:39Speaker 1: down to the statistics office and get your baby name.
- 49:43Speaker 1: I kind you have to stop out of the kind
- 49:44Speaker 1: of name Beha, but more day is gonna keep the
- 49:47Speaker 1: same day name. Let's explain something of you. I've been
- 49:50Speaker 1: trying to be calm with you even now show, but
- 49:52Speaker 1: if you offering something else to call on me, I'm
- 49:54Speaker 1: gonna go. I'm gonna get a number. How do you
- 49:57Speaker 1: get my number? Don't worry about our out the number.
- 50:00Speaker 1: Listen to what I'm trying to tell you. If you
- 50:02Speaker 1: don't find another name, I'm gonna start getting the kids
- 50:05Speaker 1: to call your daughter something else. Thishing to call my daddy.
- 50:09Speaker 1: I try to im with an who called my dabby? Stop? Next,
- 50:13Speaker 1: you're trying to change your baby names. I want my
- 50:15Speaker 1: baby the name to beat the Derek do get him.
- 50:20Speaker 1: It's t My princess is supposed to be the only
- 50:24Speaker 1: one named Derek. Hany king calling your baby stopping else
- 50:27Speaker 1: at the school. I'm going out of these kids starting
- 50:30Speaker 1: tomorrow at school calling your daughter else. I'm not I'm staying.
- 50:34Speaker 1: I'm just starting with you. Like this number, you hang
- 50:36Speaker 1: up off my phone and don't come. Let me tell
- 50:38Speaker 1: you something. I got one more thing I need to
- 50:40Speaker 1: say to you. You listen to me? What are you
- 50:43Speaker 1: listening to me? I'm listening to you. What this is,
- 50:47Speaker 1: Nephew Tommy from the Steve Harvey Morning Show. You just
- 50:51Speaker 1: got pranked by your girlfriend to give her little They
- 51:04Speaker 1: got ain't to prey on this. I'm so sorry. So yes,
- 51:12Speaker 1: I'm gonna give her that is. Oh. I have so sorry.
- 51:20Speaker 1: You got my nerves bad this morning. Lord, I have mercy. Lord,
- 51:23Speaker 1: I gotta kiss my breath. I got one more thing
- 51:25Speaker 1: I gotta ask you, darling. One is what is the
- 51:28Speaker 1: baddest I'm talking about the baddest radio show in the land,
- 51:32Speaker 1: Steve Hart The Morning Show. I listened to y'all every morning, crazy,
- 51:38Speaker 1: crazy and not have mercy. Y'all got my blood pressure
- 51:42Speaker 1: this morning. I love y'all. I listen to y'all show
- 51:44Speaker 1: every morning. We can't have two derekas you know what
- 51:49Speaker 1: I'm saying. You understand that, don't You wouldn't want to
- 51:55Speaker 1: to Winton's which no, I wouldn't. One Winton, Thank you, Steve,
- 52:00Speaker 1: Thank you for a Winton. Thank god. One Tommy on
- 52:07Speaker 1: this show. That's it. And one you don't have to
- 52:14Speaker 1: worry about that, Thank you brother, one of you? Can
- 52:17Speaker 1: you unique Tommy? Thank you. I've come to that conclusion.
- 52:23Speaker 1: Ain't nobody like you. They're not making no movies, no, no,
- 52:29Speaker 1: All right, listen, thank you, nephew. Listen. I want to
- 52:34Speaker 1: be rich, okay, and if you want to be rich,
- 52:36Speaker 1: here you go. This is what they say, Steve, and
- 52:38Speaker 1: you know you'll you'll let me know if this is
- 52:40Speaker 1: on point. Be positive. This is according to a new survey,
- 52:43Speaker 1: millionaires do their best to stay away from pessimists. The
- 52:47Speaker 1: survey found that nine out of ten rich people make
- 52:50Speaker 1: it a point to be around people who are positive
- 52:53Speaker 1: and focused on success Steve Harvey, what do you think
- 52:58Speaker 1: that's an absolute fact? Birds of a feather flock together.
- 53:01Speaker 1: You've heard everything about that. Association brings on participation. You
- 53:07Speaker 1: cannot make it to be rich alone. No one gets
- 53:11Speaker 1: rich alone, and no one is going to get rich
- 53:14Speaker 1: without surrounding themselves with like minded people. You cannot get
- 53:19Speaker 1: rich without being positive and at least about in the
- 53:22Speaker 1: area you're trying to accomplish it. And that positivity has
- 53:25Speaker 1: to carry over into other things. If you don't develop that,
- 53:29Speaker 1: you cannot be successful. You cannot be sorry. What what's
- 53:34Speaker 1: the one thing that you think that it's driven you
- 53:37Speaker 1: to become successful. My dreams, my dreams are at the
- 53:41Speaker 1: core of everything. Nothing is bigger than your dreams. My dreams, man,
- 53:48Speaker 1: my dreams. My dreams are bigger than all of my fears.
- 53:52Speaker 1: And do you ever stop dreaming? I mean, like once
- 53:54Speaker 1: you've made it, like you're there now so pretty much
- 53:57Speaker 1: so do you still have dreams? Who me? And we
- 54:04Speaker 1: we're talking about a little bit more. When we come back,
- 54:06Speaker 1: you can ask me that question, all right, yeah, and uh,
- 54:10Speaker 1: when we come back, it's also time for the Strawberry letter.
- 54:13Speaker 1: That's up next. Subject I am in love with a Republican?
- 54:18Speaker 1: Am I in your dreams? You're listening to Steve Alright, Steve,

- 55:28Speaker 1: and hold on tight. It is here a strawberry letter
- 55:34Speaker 1: subject I am in love with a Republican. Here's Stephen Shirley.
- 55:40Speaker 1: I have been in love in a loving relationship for
- 55:43Speaker 1: about a year with a man who, for the most part,
- 55:45Speaker 1: has provided, protected, and professed his love for me. We
- 55:49Speaker 1: have so much in common, but we have several issues
- 55:53Speaker 1: where there is total disagreement. In the beginning, we would
- 55:56Speaker 1: laugh as we expressed our divergent views on such things
- 56:00Speaker 1: as gun control, immigration, and sexual orientation. I asked him
- 56:05Speaker 1: if he voted Republicans, and he swore that he didn't.
- 56:09Speaker 1: I know that everyone is entitled to their opinions and views,
- 56:13Speaker 1: but lately we have been having a few blow ups
- 56:16Speaker 1: and disagreements on our current president and gun control. I
- 56:20Speaker 1: am a Democrat leaning towards more republic more a liberal ideals. He,
- 56:25Speaker 1: on the other hand, has voiced extreme conservative views. I
- 56:29Speaker 1: suggested that we not discuss politics anymore since it's creating friction.
- 56:34Speaker 1: Can we coexist having such different views on life? We
- 56:38Speaker 1: do love each other very much. We have been talking
- 56:41Speaker 1: about uh marriage, so I need to know if this
- 56:44Speaker 1: is the for better or worse part of love your
- 56:47Speaker 1: thoughts excuse me, well, Steve, I will say this to
- 56:51Speaker 1: start off. She definitely listened to the show, and she
- 56:54Speaker 1: definitely has read your book Act like a lady, think
- 56:57Speaker 1: like a man, because she says our man provided part,
- 57:00Speaker 1: acted and professed for her. And that's what you talk
- 57:02Speaker 1: about in your books one of the things. But having
- 57:05Speaker 1: said all that, Uh, this is going to be difficult.
- 57:08Speaker 1: Hopefully love can prevail in this relationship, but with this
- 57:13Speaker 1: president and your views and his views, it could be
- 57:17Speaker 1: very very you know, challenging. I'll say for a relationship,
- 57:20Speaker 1: of course, two people who have different political views should
- 57:24Speaker 1: be able to coexist in a loving relationship without it
- 57:28Speaker 1: getting too crazy and you having to break up or
- 57:30Speaker 1: divorce over over situations. But um, with this president, I
- 57:35Speaker 1: have known, uh, we have talked about on this show
- 57:38Speaker 1: as a matter of fact, about people getting into fights
- 57:40Speaker 1: and things like that. So we don't want it to
- 57:42Speaker 1: get like that. I think maybe, um, you know, there
- 57:45Speaker 1: are two issues here. One, you asked him if he
- 57:47Speaker 1: voted Republican. He swore he didn't. Make sure he's not
- 57:50Speaker 1: lying about that. You don't necessarily, you know, want to
- 57:53Speaker 1: be uh in a relationship with someone who just lies
- 57:57Speaker 1: for no reason. But but um, I think what you
- 58:01Speaker 1: said about UH not discussing politics anymore since it's creating friction,
- 58:07Speaker 1: that may be the way to go if you guys
- 58:09Speaker 1: can help it, because it's hard not to in this
- 58:12Speaker 1: day and time. But I'll say it's gonna be difficult.
- 58:14Speaker 1: Hopefully love will prevail in this relationship. You don't let
- 58:18Speaker 1: it get to that. You know, maybe you need to
- 58:20Speaker 1: set some boundaries on what you talk about and how
- 58:22Speaker 1: far you can go. Maybe you can do that and
- 58:24Speaker 1: still find the love in the relationship. But it'll be tough. Steve.
- 58:30Speaker 1: Let me just break it down to you. Y'all asks
- 58:33Speaker 1: gonna be all and all the damn times, all the
- 58:39Speaker 1: time when you have such opposing views. And this ain't
- 58:44Speaker 1: about nothing small, this is about life. These are opposing
- 58:49Speaker 1: views about life. These are living die matters. These are
- 58:54Speaker 1: social issues. When you're talking about gun control, eventually they're
- 59:00Speaker 1: gun control gonna turn into um gun violence against black men. Uh.
- 59:07Speaker 1: Some police brutality towards African American communities. I'm telling I
- 59:11Speaker 1: say something because I always like to put her at
- 59:14Speaker 1: the most police officers are great people, most of them
- 59:17Speaker 1: really really are. We have a problem with a few
- 59:20Speaker 1: and it makes it bad for the whole time. And
- 59:22Speaker 1: we have some police departners that needs a complete, complete
- 59:26Speaker 1: washing out just like the one in LA had to
- 59:28Speaker 1: go through. You're talking about immigration, you're talking about how
- 59:33Speaker 1: a person feels about the lives of others who are
- 59:36Speaker 1: less fortunate, and then you're talking about sexual orientation. Here's
- 59:41Speaker 1: a guy who obviously has some types of feelings that's
- 59:45Speaker 1: against your viewpoints about sexual orientation, gay and lesbian rights.
- 59:50Speaker 1: Hold up, man, those are big issues, folks. Because you
- 59:54Speaker 1: know why these are big issues, and I don't think
- 59:57Speaker 1: that love can overcome this. It's because this current president
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: that we have is in the news every day about
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: one of these and if it ain't that it's creating
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: calling NFL players somes of bitches, or saying something really
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: crazy against a fallen member of the military, or are
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: not making up. He's just in the news, man. So
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: how do you get around this in a relationship? I
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: don't think you can. And I would love to say
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: stop talking about it, But how how do you stop
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: talking about something that's in the news every day? It's life.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: I don't see how your relationship can can can survive this.
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: I would think it could, I would hope it could,
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: but y'all gonna be falling out about everything because he's
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: gonna say something. He's gonna get your drinking. He's gonna
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: fire y'all, gonna be at a party and he's gonna
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: file one of y'all, gonna have some people over the house,
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: and he's gonna fire one on that you asked him
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: was a Republican, he said, nobody got all Republican views. Now, exactly,
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: if you're sitting up in here fighting your hardest to
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: defend President Trump, then that's how you are. And just
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: go on and say that. I know people who do
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: it all the time, all the time. If you watch
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: Fox News, man, watch when Don Lemon or Anderson Cooper
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: has a Republican on that the conservative radio host I
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: can't think of his name, but they defend this man,
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: skip what he's doing wrong. They just keep trying to
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: act like it ain't. But they're trying to make his
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: behavior normal. And they're now what's never come out of
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: the White House before. They're trying to desensitize us to
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: it and make us think it's normal. This is same normal.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: I'm not finn to sitting in act like this is
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: all right, good luck with this marriage, this relationship, You're
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: better being in love with Like the song all right, listen.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: We'll let part two if Steve's response coming up in
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: two twenty three after the hour. The subject today of
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: the Strawberry Letter, I am in love with a Republican.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: You're listening to Steve. Come on, let's get to part
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: two of today's Strawberry Letter, I am in love with
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: a Republican. Let's recap you know, look, you can love
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: a Republican. This you don't have to recap this woman
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: struggling with her decision because her and her husband, her
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: soon to be husband or potential husband, has different views
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: on gun control, immigration, and sexual orientation. Now, this might
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: not be so bad thirty forty years ago, but now
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: with social media and a president that is in the
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: news every day and you got a man who's supportive
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: of what he does and you hate it, that's gonna
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: be a lot of argument that your house. Trying to
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: avoid the subject. It's gonna be hard because we're talking
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: about life. We're talking about life. You know, So can
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: you all make it? Yes, you could, But will it
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: be rocky? I think so. I think so. It's gonna
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: be tough. So you know, you can make it. But
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: if you want to live and sleep with somebody that
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: you are going with a lot. You can go ahead.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: I did it. It's always I love it. Man, Okay, alright,
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: that's a pretty good run all I had. I tried, Man,
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: I don't know what they Yeah, this is tough, right
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: here is politics is well, let me ask this. It's
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: religion a little different. Like if it's two different religions.
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: That's almost virtually impossible because you're talking about your spirit,
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: challenge soul. Yeah, and you can't ever set that down
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: for one moment. What you're doing, I'm saying grace to
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: who right to the low one, not at this table.
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: You won't exactly, no, man, partner, That is a whole
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: another thing. You're so right on that, Steve, you're right
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: on that to Luke. Can you imagine a Christian and
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: an atheist? No? Oh yeah, so you know, come on,
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: a Christian and an atheist. It won't work. It's not
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: going to work. You're you're on so separate ends of
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: the coin. How can you be a believer in this
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: almighty God and set up and live an attempt to
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: sleep with somebody who tells you he does not exist,
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: who ain't praying? Yeah, that is this person's moral barrama. Yeah,
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: that goes against everything you believe everything. That would be
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: a virtual impossibility. Kenny's two opposing parties live together. Yeah,
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: they can make that work. But to be unequally yoked
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: in terms of religion, that right there, my friend, I
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: just don't see you. I don't, I don't I agree
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: with you? What What did you doing? I don't put
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: no rugs down over here? This is my prayer? Rug
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: Oh not in him? Mr Okay, see right there, it's
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: a fight right there. Right, let's go to lunch. You
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: can't go to lunch. Yeah, see it's too much when
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: you're walking to going to go down to the temple?
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: What temple? To the temple? Food? Hey? That because it's Saturday. Well,
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: let's dry down there, we walks. You can't dry walk
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: if you won't do here is too much? Excuse me?
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: What what are you doing? What is that thing you're shaking?
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: Why are you talking like so tambourine? You guys are
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: gonna do what with the music ministry? You know you're
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: gonna beat it while people while the people in church, honey, honey,
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: why is this lady running in service getting their praise

- 1:09:25Speaker 1: Terry Lewis. Right after this, you're listening to the Steve
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: Harvey Morning Show. We're back with Peebo Bryson, the legend
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: that is Peepo Bryson, I have to say that, and
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: the legends that are Jimmy jam and Terry Lewis. We
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: wanted to ask you guys about Prince. You know, his
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: birthday is coming up the whole time. Yeah, Thursday. Um uh.
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: He was a legend in the town of Minneapolis. Not
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: to mention the world. What are your thoughts, um you
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: go first people artists, people artists to artists. Well, when
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: the first time you hear it, you you realize that's different,
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: and you realize it's personal, and you realize it's it's
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: a message that's condensed. I mean, he found the most
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: clever ways I've ever heard to say something really profound
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: in the simplest way to make us actually get something
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: profound and not run from it or not. He didn't
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: speaking esoteric terms as much as uh as some people do,
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: and when they're trying to say something profound, I mean, uh.
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: We did a thing in I think it was Rolling
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: Stone magazine and we were asked a question of what
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: would do, what advice you would give an artist? I
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: had these two long paragraphs and Prince had two words,
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: be yourself for yourself. I love that. What about you?
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: Is Jimmy jam tearing? Well? When I think about Prince, Um,
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: you know, the first thing that comes to my mind
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: is there's certain people in your life, and there's very
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: few of them that when you achieve a level of
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: success as we've been blessed to do, you could honestly
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: say it wouldn't have happened without them. Prince is one
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: of those people. Because Um, Terry and I were just
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: you know, local guys in Minneapolis making music. Like so
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: many other local guys in Minneapolis. There was a lot
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: of talented folks up there. Prince was the one that
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: broke through, and he broke through in a way that
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: was so big and so influential. It made everybody else
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: come back and go, wait a minute, what else is
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: up in Minneapolis? And the what else was us? And
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: you know in Morris Day and and jelly Ban Johnson
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: and all the folks you know, so Um, Prince, For me,
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: it's just it's the reason that we're even sitting here
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: having this conversation, the reason that we're here with people today,
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: we're here with Steve and all you guys today. I mean,
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: it's as simple as that. If it wasn't for him,
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: there wouldn't really be in us. We're talking about prints
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: and the influence he's had on you guys lives and
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: what do you think about him as an artist and
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: and all of that. His birthday is this coming Thursday.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: What about you? Terry one of the most amazing artists ever. Um,
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: a friend of brother. The thing that I think he
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: influenced us most with is work ethic. Um. This man
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: worked tirelessly and Um he loved music probably more than life.
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: This man was music. That's that. That was the thing
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: about him that I always remember. He never stopped playing music.
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: We would go to rehearsal, He comes to our rehearsal,
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: rehearsed with us, He go to his band's rehearsal, rehearsed
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: with them, We go get dressed to go out at night.
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: We play all night, and then he come back in
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: the morning at our rehearsal and play as what he
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: recorded after we left the club at two o'clock. At
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: three o'clock morning, Yeah, imagine somebody walking in and this
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: is the back in the days of cassettes for those
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: who remember cassette. He would walk into our rehearsal with
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: a cassette and he goes, here's what I did last night,
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: And all of a sudden comes on and it's like
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: that song scared end and a lot of it did. Wow,
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: such a great memories. Prince was music. I think that
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: kind of sums it up absolutely. Yeah. Yeah, and people
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: you are music. I appreciate that. I love. I mean,
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: it's like like these guys here and and the Great
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: Prince knows the music is not a choice for us.
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: It's it's who we are. It's who I am, and
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: that's there's no motive, there's no more to be said.
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: And you we we're fortunate to to actually be able
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: to use God given talents and and even the influences
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: that that other artists like princes and another artist somehow,
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: whether those experiences are a good battery and different and
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: tough or not tough or easy, it doesn't or too easy,
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: it doesn't matter, because somehow they galvanize you into your craft,
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: you know, into doing what you do best, and they
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: somehow challenge you to be better at what you do. Uh.
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: And it's not a competition because we don't do competition,
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: not not anybody in this room that does music does competition.
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: So there's no competition except for what we did yesterday
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: and the competitions with ourselves and and and how how
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: can we get better at what what we do and
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: what I did yesterday? That's what That's the only thing
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: we really care about. It's it's the eternal pursuit of
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: excellence in a craft. You're still an artist, but I
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: think you should hold classes. Yeah, you need rights in
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: school of music artist one on one. I'll tell you what,
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: working with people on this album was a class because
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: the stories that he told in the education that he
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: gave us, and um, it was it was an amazing
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: process to create the music, but even a better process
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: in getting to know the man what they do. They
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: want to. They extract as much personality as you. You're
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: willing to get much of yourself, if you willing to,
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: if you're willing to, uh to reveal to them. And
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: then they make music, the craft music around who you
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: really are? How unique concept is that? Right? Every time
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: he looks over here, I want to hear your album.
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: I don't know if with Jimmy, I'm so in the
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: hate you you hate me? Thank you, guys, we love
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: you so much. Thank you. The new album is called
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: Stand for Love. It will be out this fall. The
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: new single is love Like Yours and Mine. Go ahead
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: and download that right now. All right? Do that? All right,
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: We'll be back with more of the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: Right after this. You're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: The NBA. Steve will test a challenge flag for bad
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: referee calls. Okay, Game three of the NBA Finals is tonight,
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: but people are still talking about how the referees messed
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: up Game one. It's yeah, people are talking about it
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: for the finals. Yeah yeah, you you agree? Huh oh?
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: Come on man? The charge call that they reversed, So
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: that's crazy. While there might be some changes coming as
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: the NBA is planning to test their own version of
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: a challenge flag ahead of next season. They are still
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: working on the details and their h may or may
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: not be an actual challenge flag that coaches throw unto
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: the court, but the coaches will protest calls they think
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: the ref's really got wrong. So there you go, Yeah,
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: we need that now. So they have a protest flag
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: in the NBA. Well what, yeah, the coaches are gonna No,
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: I'm not saying that, Steve. Uh. What they're doing is
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: working on the details, and there may or may not
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: be an actual flag that coaches you know, how the
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: coaches throw the flags on the court, but the coaches
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: will protest calls that they think refs really got wrong
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: when they throw flags on the field in the NFL,
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: are you okay with that? I don't know. You don't
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: think that will work? You know, all all they're gonna
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: do is fighting everything. You know, they're just gonna fighting everything.
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't, I don't know, man, I
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: know you can't. It's not like the NFL. You can't
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: throw a flag out on the field one of the
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: players slip on it. That's crazy. Can't do that. Um,
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: and it's gonna stop to play too much. Seeing the NFL,
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: each place stops after each play. You go back, you
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: held up. You got time for that. The NBA is
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: a continuous game. You score, we go down, we run
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: it back up. You get a rebound, we're going back up.
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: It's not the time element like football, you got time
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: to throw a penalty flag because you don't your your
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: coaches upstairs have watched and have watched the replay that
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: you didn't see downstairs. Then they go, hey, man, that
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: don't look good. Throw the flag. You can't do that
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: in basketball. Everybody upstairs, radio and downstairs to my hey,
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: we just saw this interview. It looks bad. Well, there
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: are I mean, people are upset about the referees. They
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: say they messed up Game one. So they're just saying
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: there might be some changes coming. The NBA is planning
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: to test their own version of a challenge flag. God
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: Boy should free though, that's all that should have happened,
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: So some changes aren't coming, Steve. They're talking about it.
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: It may not be exactly that, but it's going to
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: be something. It looks well, it's too damn late. We
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: need it tonight. We needed tonight come near alright, well,
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: from sports to entertainment news, did you guys hear about this?
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: It is official. Gretchen Carlson, the new chair of the
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: Miss America competition, who was crowned Miss America back in
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: has announced, I don't know if you guys have heard
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: about this. We are no longer a pageant. We are
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: a competition. We will no longer judge our candidates on
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: their outward physical appearance. Alright. That means there will be
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: no more swim suit competition. Ain't nobody watching, Carlson? Did
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: you do that with Miss Universe? Here? We need to
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: keep these swimsuits in here. We were turning the TV
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: on for if you ain't got to dance swimsuit? Okay.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: They're also going to change the evening gown portion of
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: the competition. So what she says, they're no longer judging
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: women when they come out and they're chosen attire, their eveningwear,
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: whatever they choose to do. Uh, it's gonna be what
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: comes out of their mouth that we're interested in. This
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: ain't a smart contest, it's a beauty count of test.
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: It's a competition. Uh. You know when they talk about
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: their social initiatives and all that, you know, how they're
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: working in the community and their platforms and stuff. The
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: Miss America competition will air live on September nine on
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: a b C. That's not what's winning. I mean, I
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: absolutely enjoyed the evening Gown competition and things like that
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: as well. Actually, adule the swimsuited dishes. So what are
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: we talking about here? It's out forget it. I mean,
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: you know they've been talking about it for years. Suit out,
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: I'm out. You ain't know none of my TV I'm
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: telling every now, Steve, you know a little bit about
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: competitions and beauty contests and things like that. Well, no,
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: I have to be um very very careful with my
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: opinions of all of this and politically. All right, let
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: me just tell you what my stand is on the
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: door so you'll know. So let me let me. Let
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: me let me look it up. Okay, Gretchen Carlson is
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: her name. Let me look it up. But they told
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: me I'm supposed to say, oh, but you're looking the
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: story to make sure I was telling you that I'm
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: finishing exactly. What told me is that what we need
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: to do write a statement for you for this radio state.
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: I'm as soon as I fund I want you to
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: be reading this hill from now on, The Steve Harvey
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: Morning Show will no longer. Okay, man, I'm talking about verbatim.
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: I'm the next the NEP. You ain't watching it. Swimsuit out,
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: I'm out. That's what you said. Now, I mean, you know, wow, people,
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: you know it's been discussed as being sexist for so long.
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: So since they have a woman, uh you know, at
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: the head, she decided to concentrate on brains over beauty.
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: I suppose I want to see the ratings that happened
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: at it. Yeah, have you have you found it, Steve,
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: because we're waiting until you need to keep his at
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: the screenshot so you can put it all. That's what
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: he's doing looking on something. Yep. Again. The Miss American
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: competition will air live on September nine on ABC. Surely
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: don't you think that takes away from it? Oh? Absolutely?
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: I mean as a woman, I do, because I I
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: enjoyed the evening gown competition. I did. So what are
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: they wins? Some pant suits? What they're gonna put on?
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: I don't know what? You ain't gonna to swim suit?
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: You ain't going witty even again, what is your queen?
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: I'm thinking about I'm actually thinking about. Okay, listen, now,
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: you can't do that. We'll have more of the Steve
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: Harvey Morning Show coming up right after this. You're listening
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: to the Steve Harvey Morning Show and other news guys.
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: Starbucks executive chairman Howard Schultz announced that he is stepping
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: down later this month and hinted at a possible run
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: for the presidency in He's sixty four years old. He's
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: president of Starbucks, the executive chairman of Starbucks, Howard Schultz.
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: He's a billionaire. Steve. He's been with a company for
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: thirty six years and has become one of the most
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: politically active business leaders in the country. I actually like him.
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: I've met him. Actually, seems like a nice guy. Yeah. Change. Yeah.
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: And he's been saying all along that he wasn't going
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: to run, he had no political aspirations. Yeah yeah, But
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: somehow two thousand sixteen changed all that. Huh. In two
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: thousand and sixteen, he stepped down the CEO, but stayed
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: with the company as its executive chairman. The move at
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: the time led to speculation that he was considering a
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: run for public office. He said in a memo to employees,
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: I'll be thinking about a range of options for myself,
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: from philanthropy to public service. But I'm a long way
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: from knowing what the future holds us again. If we
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: don't start preparing, somebody, thank you. Donald Trump gonna be
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: president again. He got a lot of votes, man. And
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: I think the part that a lot of people are
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: not understanding is when America looks at Donald Trump's face.
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: I hate to tell y'all this, but that's a face
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: that they're comfortable with seeing. That's a face that they're
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: comfortable with seeing. That's familiar. It's so celebrity status. It
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: represents power, it represents everything they want to be. Powerful, rich, determined.
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: Say what's on your mind. That's his base, man, that's
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: his base. And if you don't think it's a lot
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: of them out there, man, I don't care what they see,
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: any impoles say, because all you gotta do is look
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: at the brazen acts to these people who go I
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: will point out to this brother who had a T
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: shirt printed up that symbolizes how we feel about it.
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: The brother's t serch said, don't let your present there
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: get your ass who and that it's from all of us,
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: I think, and dog that brother put that T shirt
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: on and mint it everywhere. We just don't have the shirt,
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: but it's from all that. Wow. It's like when it's
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: someone's birth and people come more embrazened. Man, they just
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: they have the ability to say whatever they want to
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: say now because he's been firing off. That's what's giving
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: these people the authority and the right. But it just
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: shows how ugly this country is. The underbelity of this
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: country is still very ugly, and that underbelly rises up
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: to the head every now. Man, he get the rallies
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: and he'd be out there. Man, they just his basis,
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: rabbit rabbit fans of this. He can't do no, Howard something.
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: I'm sorry. His name is Howard Schultz. You got it alright.
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: Former j C. P CEO j C. Penny CEO Myron
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: Allman Myron E. Allman will take over as chairman. Schiltz
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: was a very active supporter of President Obama and Hillary Clinton.
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: He's clearly thinking about running in the next election. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: and Steve, perhaps you could be as vice president. Uh,
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: it's still do one thing that's don't have a whole
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: new others at Bank Round and chick what do you know?
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: Bank Round? Do you know who's the president right now?
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: Thank him? Damn about his background check? Yeah, alright, coming
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: up criminal activity? Well, women, all right, coming up, I'm
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: gonna turn up both. Coming up more of the crazy
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: Steve Harvey Morning Show. Right after this. You're listening to
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: the Steve Harvey Morning Show. President Trump is furiously trying
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: to prove the sports teams really like him, the pros
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: I'm talking about now, despite the Philadelphia Eagles not coming
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: to a White House by listing off all of the
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: championship teams who have accepted his invitations. Trump called off
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: the Eagles visit after learning only a small number of
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: players were actually planning to attend, so he disinvited them
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: or uninvited them. Uh. The others had opted out for
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: several reasons, including Trump stant on the national anthem protest
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: Um President of the United States has been taking heat
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: over the move from athletes and politicians, including Philly mayor
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: Jim Kennedy, who ripped Trump as um a fragile egomaniac,
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: obsessed with UM crowd size and afraid of the embarrassment
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: of throwing a party to which no one wants to attend.
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: Trump responded, Yeah right. Trump responded to his critics with
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: a flurry of tweets yesterday morning. We have had many
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: championship teams recently at the White House, including the Chicago Cubs,
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: the Astros, uh, Pittsburgh Penguins, New England Patriots, Alabama Clemson
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: National Championship, and many others. So that's his clap back,
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: all right, But he uninvited them when he found out
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: only a few. He's an interesting guy because he he's
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: just really he's a president that's concerned with so many
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: non presidential things and all he's concerned about our small
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: victories that personally embellished him, and nothing else matters. He
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: took this whole issue with this not standing, changed the narrative,
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: flipped it around, made him about him. He turned it
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: into an anti flag and anti military stands, which it
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: wasn't at all. He successfully did that, and that's all
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: that matters to him. He's fighting this collusion thing because
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: he doesn't want it to appear as though that his
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: presidency is not authentic or you know, that on his
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: own that he had helped. So he's fighting that instead
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: of saying, hey, we got to prevent any country from
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: tampering with our election process, which clearly they got involved in. Okay,
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: there is no collusion been proven yet, but there is
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: proof and everybody knows it that Russia did tamper with
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: the election. They got involved in the election process with
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: Facebook and a couple of other things too, So everybody
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: knows that he's so worried that that's trying to say collusion.
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: All he wants to do is they had nothing to do.
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: They did affect the election. They did tamper with our election.
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: Instead of him fighting that, he's defending the fact that
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: he's the legitimate president, you're the president. Is nothing we
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: can do about this now here to half ended this man,
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: You dude, right, but it's not doing nothing. He can't
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: do anything, Tommy, because he's so busy concerning himself with nothing. Mimi,
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: I I I I. He passed that tax bill. But boy,
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: if y'all could look at it, if y'all really understood
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: what that tax bill was, man, y'all be sick. All right, Steve,
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: coming up our last break of the day, closing remarks. Okay,
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: get ready, people, right after this, you're listening to the
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: stew All Right, Steve, you know what earlier in the show, Um,
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: I told you this new survey is out. It's about
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: millionaires and it says, if you want to be rich,
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: be positive. Uh. This is according to a new survey.
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: Like I said, millionaires do their best to stay away
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: from pessimists. Okay, the survey found that nine out of
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: ten rich people make it a point to be around
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: people who are positive and focused on success. So, you know,
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: I gotta ask you, Steve, is that true? Do you
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: live your life like that? And? Uh? You know what
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: can we learn from all of that? Well? I mean
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: you really, you really, if you want to be successful,
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: you're going to have to associate yourself with other successful people.
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: They're not hard to find. They're not that hard to find.
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: There are a lot of success driven people. You gotta
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: be willing to strike up conversations. But in order to
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: do it, for the most part, most people have to
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: be willing to step outside of their comfort zone, walk
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: up to somebody who you think is successful and introduce
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: yourself and just say, hey, look, i've never met you.
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm so and so
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: I've noticed you around here. Congratulations. Man. If we could
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: ever get a chance to sit down and talk while
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: I can learn from you, I sure would appreciate that.
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: I don't want anything. I just want to learn maybe
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: some principles of some of the things that most successful
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: people are willing to share that information. Most successful people
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: don't want to give you money, but most successful people
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: will share that information with you to make you feel
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: h I mean, you know, to feel as though they're
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: contributing to your success without being the success. You know
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: what I'm saying. I would much rather give you some
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: advice that can carry you long throughout your life than
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: to give you ten dollars so you can go body
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: t shirts them how to fish. Yeah, it is very true.
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: One of the principles of success. And this can go along.
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: You can ask me a couple of questions like that,
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: Shirley today, because that could be part of our closing remarks.
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: Because people do want to be happy and people do
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: want to be successful. But you've got to be prepared
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: to get uncomfortable. That you have to understand that becoming
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: successful is extremely uncomfortable. It is listen to me, extremely uncomfortable.
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: It is not easy to be disciplined discipline is simply
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: doing everything you have to do even when you don't
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: want to do it. That's disciplined. Well, that right there
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: is uncomfortable getting up every day all the time. Yeah,
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: I got making every meeting, going to all the seminars,
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: making all the classes, taking all the phone calls. You're
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: gonna do. You're gonna do all the phone calls, all
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: the meetings. You're gonna sit there and listen to every
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: pitching proposal. You're gonna do the things. You're gonna read
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: success books. You're actually gonna apply the principles of success
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: and try to live. You mean, you're tell me you're
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: gonna change the way you eat so you can feel
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: better and think more clear to clear, which will help
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: you become more successful. Oh no, I'm not gonna do
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: all that. People don't want to be out of their
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: comfort zone. Because I've heard many more people say, oh,
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: I'm not doing that. I don't feel like doing that today. Stuff.
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: That's the beginning of not being successful. I don't feel
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: I ain't doing that today. I don't feel like everybody
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: has those movies. I get them myself. But for the
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: part nine percent at the time, I go ahead and
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: do what I gotta do. Now. If I move something off,
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: I'm gonna get it done. But we gotta put it
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: in another time slot. But I'm gonna get it done.
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: But I don't leave nothing undone. Well, we know that
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: you have more jobs than anyone. Um, you know what,
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: go ahead, But I did want to ask you this, Steve.
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: I think we touched on it earlier and we didn't
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: get a chance to complete it. But you've made it. Uh,
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: you know, for for a lot of us who know you,
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: and for a lot of people just in general, your
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: fans and every you have made it. You know, you're
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: what success looks like. So are you done? By no
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: stretch of the imagination? Done? I'm not even I'm not
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: even thirded away there? What more do you want? Yeah?
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: Have you ever has anyone ever asked you, well, how
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: much more money do you need? Well? I don't need
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: any more money. No, I a lot more. I don't
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: need no more? Said what more do you want? Well?
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: You know what what is it that I don't I
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: have not provided all the opportunities I feel like that
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: I'm capable of providing. I can't be on any more
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: TV shows, But there are people around me who can
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: I want to be able to provide those opportunities. There
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: are people who have some great business ideas that I
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: would invest in that could turn into something big. I
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: have yet to find the right financial partner that has
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: more than I do that's willing to put some money
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: with my company and go, hey, now let's be partners
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: and let's go do this. I'm always looking for that.
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: I am looking for in a way that my wife
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: and I can send these ten thousand kids to college
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: full scholarships paid. We made a din in it, but
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: we're not close to the ten thousand that we set
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: out to do. I want to change thousands of boys,
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: a lot lives a year. I really let me change that.
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: I want to change a million boys lives a year
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: as opposed to hundreds. What I hear and what you're saying,
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: what I hear is your legacy. This is your legacy
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: you're working on. Your working on that a great deal
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: right now. I want my children's grandchildren to know money,
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: and that's important for me. But I also want to
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: leave a footprint deep enough where I have mattered to people.
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: You know, I just want to matter to people. I
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: not I'm not gonna matter to everybody. I'm not naive,
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: but I want to matter to people. I want to
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: move the needle for people who are less fortunate than me.
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: I want to teach as many people as I can
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: and share the information with as many people as I
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: can that don't really have anybody in their life to
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: tell them the principles of success or anybody in their
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: life to just tell them, man that you could be
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: just how you are and have relationship with God. That's
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: important things to me right now. I think those are
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: lofty goals and reachable goals. And can I tell you
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: one other thing, Shou's on this Wednesday hump Day, Thank
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: you you too. For all Steve Harvey contests, no purchase
