- 0:24Speaker 1: to mother, don't join You gotta use that turn. You
- 1:24Speaker 1: gotta turn to turn them out, got to turn them out,
- 1:45Speaker 1: to turn the water the water. Come come on your baby,
- 2:01Speaker 1: Uh huh, I shall will. Good morning everybody. You're listening
- 2:05Speaker 1: to the voice, Come on dig me now, one and
- 2:08Speaker 1: only Steve Harvey Man got a radio show. Wow man,
- 2:12Speaker 1: how good has God been to me? You know? Today?
- 2:15Speaker 1: Let me get right to it because I'm I'm kind
- 2:18Speaker 1: of feeling this today, and I'm pretty sure that's just
- 2:21Speaker 1: quite a few of you who go through the same
- 2:23Speaker 1: things today. Today was just a little tough morning for
- 2:28Speaker 1: me because I didn't want to leave home yesterday. You know,
- 2:31Speaker 1: I wanted to stay home a little. I just gotten home,
- 2:35Speaker 1: you know, I gotta go again. And sometimes, you know,
- 2:38Speaker 1: just the weight of all that you have to do
- 2:40Speaker 1: just gets on you sometimes and sometimes you don't feel
- 2:44Speaker 1: like doing it today. Huh. You know, I'm just talking
- 2:49Speaker 1: to those who feel this way every now and then,
- 2:52Speaker 1: and I'm assuming that would be everybody, because I don't
- 2:54Speaker 1: know nobody who can just ply through this thing without
- 2:58Speaker 1: having those days. Well, what do you do when it
- 3:02Speaker 1: gets hard to stay up? What do you do when
- 3:06Speaker 1: it gets hard to be positive? What do you do
- 3:10Speaker 1: when it seems like things aren't happening for you fast
- 3:14Speaker 1: enough or in the time frame that you thought it
- 3:16Speaker 1: was going. What do you do? And the reason that
- 3:20Speaker 1: I guess I chose to speak about this this morning
- 3:23Speaker 1: is because I'm having one of those days. Because I
- 3:25Speaker 1: had one of those days yesterday. It's just a tough day.
- 3:29Speaker 1: I really can't explain. It's nothing really in particular bad happened.
- 3:34Speaker 1: It's just I think the weight of all that's going
- 3:41Speaker 1: on started to feel heavy to me. And so what
- 3:47Speaker 1: do you do when when you have days like that,
- 3:49Speaker 1: when it's hard to be positive, when it's hard to
- 3:51Speaker 1: stay up? Okay, here's what I had to start doing
- 3:55Speaker 1: this morning. Now I haven't completed it. Can I just
- 3:59Speaker 1: be real with you? Haven't completed it, but I am
- 4:03Speaker 1: processing it out because I know what to do. You know,
- 4:06Speaker 1: been there, done that, I didn't had that pain before.
- 4:09Speaker 1: I know what to do. You know, if I sprain
- 4:11Speaker 1: my finger, I know what to do. Now you know
- 4:12Speaker 1: the first sprain I had, O Lord, I thought it
- 4:15Speaker 1: was broke. I thought I got me handac half. But
- 4:17Speaker 1: now if I spray my finger, I know what to do.
- 4:19Speaker 1: So since I've been in this position, in this hole
- 4:22Speaker 1: so many times before, and God has always gotten me
- 4:25Speaker 1: through it, I decided I've got to start the process today.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Want to hear are some things Now I'm gonna get
- 4:33Speaker 1: to the big one last. And one of the things
- 4:36Speaker 1: I do is I remember the plan, sit down, and
- 4:42Speaker 1: I consciously think about the goals I've set. I go
- 4:46Speaker 1: over them. See, I've gotten mine down on an iPad
- 4:49Speaker 1: so I can pull them out anywhere I am and
- 4:52Speaker 1: pull them up. And I've got two lists that I've made.
- 4:54Speaker 1: I've got a list of things that I know I
- 4:57Speaker 1: can accomplish if I just keep working hard and if
- 5:01Speaker 1: some couple of things just fall into place that I
- 5:03Speaker 1: can see. Then I got a list of things that
- 5:06Speaker 1: I'm planning on accomplishing. And then I have a second list,
- 5:11Speaker 1: And the heading of this list is called only God
- 5:14Speaker 1: can help me Now. And on this list it's things
- 5:18Speaker 1: that I'm aspiring for or things that I'm hoping to
- 5:22Speaker 1: that in order for them to happen. I absolutely have
- 5:26Speaker 1: to have God's help. That's my favorite list. It's the
- 5:32Speaker 1: list that I have of the things that I don't
- 5:35Speaker 1: see no way it can happen. I'm just operating on
- 5:40Speaker 1: faith and the hope that God hear me, and so sometimes, man,
- 5:45Speaker 1: when you gotta when I have this list of who
- 5:48Speaker 1: only God can help me, now that list is stuff
- 5:52Speaker 1: that I cannot see. I'm just operating on faith that
- 5:56Speaker 1: God is so much bigger than me, that he's so
- 5:59Speaker 1: much more capable than I am, that I can actually
- 6:03Speaker 1: acquire some things in my life, as he's proven to
- 6:06Speaker 1: me time and time again up to this point, that
- 6:08Speaker 1: He's willing to do for me if I'm willing to
- 6:10Speaker 1: just give him some of my life. That's the only
- 6:13Speaker 1: why I can't explain my existence today. You know, I
- 6:18Speaker 1: began the conversation with my wife, how do I write
- 6:20Speaker 1: a book that becomes so wildly successful? That would be God.
- 6:26Speaker 1: That's only God, Because if you can plan to sit
- 6:29Speaker 1: down and write a wildly successful book, I'd have Benden
- 6:32Speaker 1: sat down and did it, and so would you, so
- 6:35Speaker 1: that would be God. How it got purchased to become
- 6:39Speaker 1: a movie when that was not my intent when I
- 6:41Speaker 1: wrote the book at all. Again, that would be God right,
- 6:46Speaker 1: there has to be, because if I can't explain it
- 6:50Speaker 1: and it is by no doing of my own, then
- 6:53Speaker 1: who did it? So when I get down in days
- 6:56Speaker 1: like this, I remember the goal. I remember the plan.
- 7:00Speaker 1: I remember the journey. I think about of all the
- 7:02Speaker 1: things God has bought me to how did I even
- 7:04Speaker 1: get to this point. Yeah. I might be having a
- 7:07Speaker 1: little bummer of a day. Yeah I was a little
- 7:09Speaker 1: down yesterday. Yeah, my bio rhythms is off, whatever they
- 7:12Speaker 1: want to call it. Yeah, I'm just having one of
- 7:14Speaker 1: those days. I feel a little bit heavy. I need
- 7:17Speaker 1: a vacation real bad. I need some time off to
- 7:20Speaker 1: just go and regenerate. But right now, man, I ain't
- 7:23Speaker 1: got that. So guess what I do. I gotta start
- 7:26Speaker 1: remembering the plan. I gotta start remembering the goals. I
- 7:29Speaker 1: gotta start thinking about all the things that God has
- 7:32Speaker 1: done for me and how He has bought me this far,
- 7:34Speaker 1: and the blessings that I have instead of what I
- 7:37Speaker 1: don't have. And that's what I'm in the process of
- 7:39Speaker 1: doing this morning, And on the commercial breaks, I'm gonna
- 7:42Speaker 1: pull out my iPad and I'm gonna go over my
- 7:44Speaker 1: two lists, and I'm gonna read my little list of
- 7:46Speaker 1: what I think I can accomplish, and I'm gonna really
- 7:49Speaker 1: read that only God can Help Me Now list, because
- 7:52Speaker 1: that's the list that's big. That's the part where I've
- 7:54Speaker 1: been telling y'all, I said, quit telling God how big
- 7:58Speaker 1: your problems are, and start telling your problems how big
- 8:01Speaker 1: your God is. See, and that's why I got to
- 8:04Speaker 1: sit down and do this morning. And then sometimes, man,
- 8:07Speaker 1: you got to stay still. That's the other part. You
- 8:11Speaker 1: got to stay still. You gotta quit moving for a second,
- 8:16Speaker 1: because sometimes it feel like you're running on a treadmill
- 8:19Speaker 1: and you really ain't you going somewhere, but it feel
- 8:22Speaker 1: like you're running on a treadmill. Well, when you get
- 8:24Speaker 1: that feeling, sometimes you got to stay still. And then
- 8:28Speaker 1: when you stay still, sometimes you gotta fight to stay positive.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Sometimes you gotta fight not to let the devil win.
- 8:35Speaker 1: You're in a fight, Mamer, I told you this. Now
- 8:36Speaker 1: you're in a fight now, So trying to get you
- 8:39Speaker 1: to get on that positive train so he can get
- 8:41Speaker 1: you off the faith train. So God's delivery package that's
- 8:44Speaker 1: coming to you built on your faith that you can.
- 8:47Speaker 1: He can shake your faith and get you to thinking
- 8:49Speaker 1: negative and then he wins. See. So when you start
- 8:52Speaker 1: feeling negative, just know that that's the other force trying
- 8:55Speaker 1: to throw your off track. And when you get through
- 8:57Speaker 1: it all that he is the key, the big one.
- 8:59Speaker 1: You want me tell it to you. You got to pray, man,
- 9:02Speaker 1: You got to pray. You gotta take it to God.
- 9:04Speaker 1: You gotta say, hey, God, look I'm having one of
- 9:06Speaker 1: these days. I need your help. I got business to
- 9:09Speaker 1: take care of. You got blessings in front of me.
- 9:11Speaker 1: You got stuff you to ship to me. You got
- 9:13Speaker 1: blessings and packages that's on the way. I need to
- 9:16Speaker 1: be sitting on Faith streets so I can receive the
- 9:18Speaker 1: delivery when you get there. What I don't want to
- 9:21Speaker 1: do is be it on, be on doubted Way or
- 9:24Speaker 1: or lack of Understanding Parkway, or Pity Parkway or some
- 9:30Speaker 1: street like that, and the package keep going by. I
- 9:33Speaker 1: need to be standing and sitting on Faith Street so
- 9:36Speaker 1: when you drop that package down to me, I can
- 9:38Speaker 1: go on and get it. You feel me. You gots
- 9:41Speaker 1: to pray. You got to stay still, you gotta fight
- 9:44Speaker 1: to stay positive. You gotta remember the plan. You gotta
- 9:47Speaker 1: go over the goals. Come on, man, God and brought
- 9:49Speaker 1: you too far? Come on, pick yourself up today. I'm
- 9:52Speaker 1: talking to Steve Harvey this morning. Hope y'all didn't mind.

- 13:02Speaker 1: first place you'll go? What do you think? Please? I'm
- 13:06Speaker 1: going to Okay. While you're thinking about it, I'll ask Steve, Steve,
- 13:12Speaker 1: where's the first place you're gonna come to? Places? And
- 13:14Speaker 1: I ain't show which one I'm getting too first, But
- 13:17Speaker 1: I'm going to Vegas because I got to believe some
- 13:22Speaker 1: of this pent up and my ass is going to
- 13:26Speaker 1: play golf. Okay, and it's too separate. I could go

- 18:46Speaker 1: ass Lisa Ray. But if you want to know the truth, yes,
- 18:50Speaker 1: I was everything every bit. So when you was a
- 18:55Speaker 1: young ass, Lisa Ray, you look like Lisa now, I said.
- 18:58Speaker 1: I said, I wear white like Lisa. Right, it's what
- 19:04Speaker 1: I now. You asked me. Was I as fine as Lisa?
- 19:07Speaker 1: And I see it? Yes, I was no hesitation whatsoever. Yea,
- 19:12Speaker 1: she were diamond, but I would pearl all right? Now
- 19:19Speaker 1: down hello, So so you're going to the fabric story. Okay,

- 22:55Speaker 1: I just wanted me and you to have a conversation. Wait, Manne,
- 22:59Speaker 1: how'd you get if Verona could give you my number?
- 23:01Speaker 1: Or how did you get my number? That's what I'm
- 23:03Speaker 1: trying to like, what's going on? I mean, I had,
- 23:06Speaker 1: I had, I've had your number. I just I just

- 23:38Speaker 1: your wife, man is cheating on both of us, and
- 23:42Speaker 1: we gotta figure out how we gotta do something about this. Man,
- 23:45Speaker 1: all right? I mean, did you say she's eating on

- 25:36Speaker 1: called you. I called you to my wife. That's what
- 25:39Speaker 1: I want to know. I'm telling you about this dude
- 25:42Speaker 1: named Alan. I need you to step up as the
- 25:44Speaker 1: husband and fix this. But you're telling me that my
- 25:47Speaker 1: wife is cheating on both of us. Didn't little cheating

- 29:12Speaker 1: after you're listening to all right, Steve, some sad news,
- 29:21Speaker 1: really sad news. Black Enterprise founder and publisher Earl G.
- 29:26Speaker 1: Graves Senior. I mean, just the entrepreneur m who created
- 29:31Speaker 1: a vehicle of information and advocacy that has inspired four
- 29:35Speaker 1: generations of African Americans to build wealth through entrepreneurship, career
- 29:41Speaker 1: advancement and money management has passed away. Um. Yeah, that
- 29:46Speaker 1: that really is sad, according to us. Now, according to
- 29:50Speaker 1: a son, Black Enterprise CEO, Earl Butch Graves Junior, Um,
- 29:55Speaker 1: mister Graves Senior passed away after a long battle with
- 29:58Speaker 1: Alzheimer's disease. And of course we are sending our condolences
- 30:02Speaker 1: to the Graves family and to the staff at Black
- 30:05Speaker 1: Enterprise Magazine. He meant a lot to a lot a
- 30:07Speaker 1: lot of people. Yeah, man, this this brother right here
- 30:10Speaker 1: man was so instrumental in ensuring that black businesses had
- 30:19Speaker 1: a voice and recognition and support. And him and his
- 30:24Speaker 1: sons and his daughter, I mean, and his wife. Man,
- 30:27Speaker 1: just a beautiful family man, one of the one of
- 30:30Speaker 1: the really really nice families. I played golf with his
- 30:34Speaker 1: sons several times down at the Black Enterprise golf and
- 30:39Speaker 1: tennis things that used to go on every year. I
- 30:44Speaker 1: met a lot of good people through him. He was
- 30:49Speaker 1: just a great leader for black people in the business community. Man.
- 30:55Speaker 1: I mean, this dude was a great father man. He
- 30:58Speaker 1: was a great servant of people. He required excellence from
- 31:04Speaker 1: everybody around him, but he showed him how he was doing. Uh.
- 31:10Speaker 1: He also was a CEO Pepsi during the nineteen nineties,
- 31:16Speaker 1: you know. And uh he was a frat brother. He
- 31:20Speaker 1: was a longstanding member of Almighty Omega Sci Fi. So
- 31:25Speaker 1: all the brothers uh in the frat are very aware
- 31:29Speaker 1: of this. And uh. He was just a really really
- 31:35Speaker 1: powerful dude man, and really powerful. And he he loved people, man,
- 31:40Speaker 1: He just loved people, you know. And he was he
- 31:45Speaker 1: was some major loss man, major loss man in my
- 31:49Speaker 1: heart condolens to go out to butchering them. And uh
- 31:53Speaker 1: and and and you know the rest of the family
- 31:56Speaker 1: man who I've met, and it's just a tough you know.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Earl Junior. He had three sons. He had Earl Junior,
- 32:04Speaker 1: he had Johnny and Michael. I think he had lights
- 32:09Speaker 1: So I think he had eight grandkids. Oh wow, powerful dude, man,
- 32:14Speaker 1: So you know the grandkids. It starts to having a
- 32:19Speaker 1: domino effect when you lose great people. Man, When when
- 32:21Speaker 1: a person passed, it ain't just at one. So condolences
- 32:24Speaker 1: go out to the whole Graves family. Man, Ali, y'all,
- 32:28Speaker 1: thank you very much. Wow. Yeah, he'll be messed for sure.
- 32:33Speaker 1: And other entertainment news. Steve Joel Olstein, pastor Joel Olstein,
- 32:37Speaker 1: is um he's going to have this big like virtual
- 32:40Speaker 1: Easter service that is Lakewood Church in Houston. That's going
- 32:44Speaker 1: to happen this Sunday, of course, which is Easter Resurrection Day.
- 32:48Speaker 1: While traditional traditional Easter services are not happening this year
- 32:52Speaker 1: due to the coronavirus pandemic, Joel Olstein is going to
- 32:57Speaker 1: welcome Kanye West, Mariah Carey, and Tyler Perry on Easter
- 33:01Speaker 1: to deliver as a message of love and support to
- 33:04Speaker 1: his massive audience. He has a huge audience. Mariah will
- 33:07Speaker 1: be a part of the special tribute to medical professionals
- 33:11Speaker 1: and first responders. Kanye and his Sunday Service choir will
- 33:15Speaker 1: be performing from La Wow. Yeah that's nice. Definitely yeah Joe,
- 33:24Speaker 1: all right and got to move on as well. Time
- 33:26Speaker 1: to get caught up on today's new Steve, Ladies and gentlemen,
- 33:30Speaker 1: Missa and Trip, thank you very much in good morning.
- 33:33Speaker 1: This is and Trip. Looking at the latest coronavirus figures
- 33:36Speaker 1: in hard hit New York State, let's start with that,
- 33:38Speaker 1: there have now been a total of five thousand, four
- 33:40Speaker 1: hundred and eighty nine deaths, with seven hundred and thirty
- 33:43Speaker 1: one people dying in just one day this past Monday. Nevertheless,
- 33:47Speaker 1: Governor Cuomo says that looking at the three day casualty average,
- 33:51Speaker 1: he says there was a few fewer ICU admissions and
- 33:55Speaker 1: combined with some other indicators, the Governor of New York says,
- 33:58Speaker 1: the Empire States COVID nineteen problem actually seems to be
- 34:01Speaker 1: lessening a little bit, or at least not surging. We
- 34:04Speaker 1: are changing the curve in that virus growth. You see
- 34:10Speaker 1: that plateauing, that's because of what we are doing. So,
- 34:14Speaker 1: the governor says, people in the state need to keep
- 34:16Speaker 1: staying at home, practicing social distancing and washing their hands repeatedly.
- 34:20Speaker 1: The state of Louisiana has been hit hard by the
- 34:23Speaker 1: coronavirus deaths now topping five hundred. They say more than
- 34:27Speaker 1: seventy percent of them are black, even though African Americans
- 34:30Speaker 1: make up only thirty two percent of the Bayou States population.
- 34:34Speaker 1: In fact, recent data shows that Chicago is among several
- 34:37Speaker 1: major cities where the coronavirus has affected Blacks, primarily in
- 34:40Speaker 1: percentage is much higher than their portion of the population.
- 34:44Speaker 1: So now, Chicago Mayor Louri Lightfoot says she's sure everyone
- 34:47Speaker 1: in her city. She wants to make sure that everyone
- 34:49Speaker 1: is entitled to the very same benefits healthwise and everything,
- 34:53Speaker 1: no matter what. Well the federal government hasn't made all
- 34:55Speaker 1: of its COVID related benefits available to our nation's immigrants.
- 34:59Speaker 1: The Executive Order I sign ensures all Chicagoans, including our
- 35:03Speaker 1: immigrants and refugees, have equal access to these programs, regardless
- 35:08Speaker 1: of status. Major Life. Mayor Lightfoot says that it's all
- 35:11Speaker 1: part of an effort to improve access to better healthcare
- 35:13Speaker 1: for black and Latino Shytown residents. The Pentagon says, meanwhile,
- 35:16Speaker 1: it's begun testing a couple of possible coronavirus medications. They
- 35:20Speaker 1: say the tests being performed right now on animals and
- 35:22Speaker 1: there are five possible vaccines in all. The host of
- 35:26Speaker 1: one of Fox TV's TV business shows is out. Trish
- 35:29Speaker 1: Reagan came under fire for underplaying the seriousness of the
- 35:32Speaker 1: coronavirus pandemic. Reagan described it as a quote scheme by
- 35:36Speaker 1: Democrats to impeach President Trump. She kept saying that and
- 35:40Speaker 1: saying that Trish Reagan called reports on people dropping dead
- 35:43Speaker 1: on the streets of Wuhan a coronavirus impeachment scam and
- 35:47Speaker 1: that it was just fake news. She's again out. Walmart's
- 35:52Speaker 1: being hit with the wrongful death suit by the family
- 35:53Speaker 1: of an employee who died from the coronavirus, one of
- 35:56Speaker 1: two deaths at the very same Chicago store. They're saying
- 35:59Speaker 1: that it was never sanitized or anything. By the way,
- 36:02Speaker 1: because of all the stay at home orders around the country,
- 36:05Speaker 1: people are gaining weight because they're eating and eating. Now
- 36:14Speaker 1: back to the Steve Harvey Morning Show. You're listening to show.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Steve's statistics show that the coronavirus is infecting and killing
- 36:23Speaker 1: African Americans in the US at disproportionately high rates. The
- 36:28Speaker 1: data is shocking. Here is some of the reasons why
- 36:32Speaker 1: black people being confused about messages. At the beginning of
- 36:36Speaker 1: the art outbreak, with rumors and myths saying black people
- 36:39Speaker 1: couldn't get the coronavirus. Remember that people were saying that
- 36:44Speaker 1: saying it was a white disease. That's not true. Also,
- 36:50Speaker 1: some African Americans have pre existing conditions like diabetes, hypertension, obesity,
- 36:56Speaker 1: and stress, and medical experts say the black community still
- 36:59Speaker 1: face barriers to having access to healthcare. This is not
- 37:04Speaker 1: a drill, Steve. We have to warn our people and
- 37:06Speaker 1: sound the alarm. And a lot of people that are
- 37:10Speaker 1: medical professionals also, um, you know, they're black. So that's
- 37:15Speaker 1: another contributing factor to the high rate. You know, listen, um,
- 37:21Speaker 1: information is king. We have to be We have to
- 37:27Speaker 1: start understanding how important information is good solid information. Caution
- 37:36Speaker 1: to air on the side of caution is your greatest
- 37:41Speaker 1: protection right now. So the way they explain in it,
- 37:45Speaker 1: the way we have to look at this thing is
- 37:47Speaker 1: you have to assume everyone has That's that's the only
- 37:55Speaker 1: way you're gonna have to look at this. I was
- 37:57Speaker 1: so proud of my son. He had ordered something from
- 38:00Speaker 1: one of the you know, grub Hub or Postmates something
- 38:05Speaker 1: he had ordered off of and he had to go
- 38:07Speaker 1: outside to move his car round to the other side. Well,
- 38:10Speaker 1: it happened to run up into the driver of the
- 38:12Speaker 1: food and roll his window down and said, hey you
- 38:16Speaker 1: the driver with He said yeah, he said hook cool,
- 38:19Speaker 1: you can give it to me out here. So the
- 38:21Speaker 1: guy came up and he had a mask on and gloves,
- 38:25Speaker 1: which is really cool. And so my son had on
- 38:29Speaker 1: his mask and his gloves when he go outside and
- 38:32Speaker 1: he got red rolling winder down and the dude pulled
- 38:34Speaker 1: his mask down and start saying, yeah, man, it's a
- 38:36Speaker 1: trip out here. My son said roller when the right
- 38:39Speaker 1: back up and went, yo, my man, you trip it now,
- 38:42Speaker 1: Just do me favor man. Set the bag down right there,
- 38:47Speaker 1: I get it, and and and then he reached and
- 38:50Speaker 1: got the bag. You have to assume people that everyone
- 38:54Speaker 1: has it now. You don't treat them like they got
- 38:56Speaker 1: the plague. But you got to practice social distancing. You've
- 39:00Speaker 1: got to. They're saying, we're masks now, it cannot hurt
- 39:04Speaker 1: and stay home. And look, man, we came where y'all going. Yes,
- 39:12Speaker 1: it ain't ain't nothing open, ain't no where to go.
- 39:16Speaker 1: All right, Steve, thank you. Coming up at thirty four
- 39:18Speaker 1: after the hour, we're going to switch gears. We're gonna
- 39:21Speaker 1: ask the CLO. He's in the building, the Chief Love
- 39:24Speaker 1: Officer that's coming up right after this. You're listening to
- 39:31Speaker 1: time now to ask the CLO. The Chief Love Officer,
- 39:35Speaker 1: Steve Harvey is in the building. If you want to
- 39:37Speaker 1: ask him something, please submit your questions to Steve Harvey
- 39:42Speaker 1: FM dot com. Okay, this one, Steve is from Anna
- 39:46Speaker 1: and Dallas. It says, I think my husband is cheating
- 39:50Speaker 1: on me. He is always on the phone and he
- 39:53Speaker 1: hangs up real quick if I walk in the room.
- 39:56Speaker 1: I used to have the pass code to his phone,
- 39:58Speaker 1: but not anymore. Two months ago, he started taking viagra
- 40:02Speaker 1: and I got excited. But we have not had sex
- 40:05Speaker 1: at all since we've been quarantined. So I asked him
- 40:09Speaker 1: what was he taking viagraph for. He said he was
- 40:12Speaker 1: sick of me nagging him, and he ignored me for
- 40:15Speaker 1: two days straight. Last night, he grabbed a bottle of
- 40:18Speaker 1: our best wine and said he was going to play poker.
- 40:21Speaker 1: I told him he shouldn't be around other people, but
- 40:24Speaker 1: he left anyway. What's really going on a lot of stuff.
- 40:30Speaker 1: Men that play poker don't drink wine. That's a start,
- 40:40Speaker 1: But you need to be at home and we quarantine. Yeah,
- 40:45Speaker 1: well who playing poker? Way and found five other food
- 40:50Speaker 1: drip polka. Now listen to me. I'm not saying your
- 40:56Speaker 1: husband it's cheating, but you are. You have women's intuition,
- 41:03Speaker 1: use it. I'm not saying your husband is cheating. Let's
- 41:06Speaker 1: just say that there's a remote possibility that there's five
- 41:11Speaker 1: dudes that play poker and drink wine. Let's just say
- 41:14Speaker 1: for the first time I've ever heard that in my
- 41:16Speaker 1: whole damn life. What are the odds? Yeah? Yeah, and
- 41:21Speaker 1: I know a lot of dudes. Hey man, you don't
- 41:24Speaker 1: get a bottle of wine play some cards? What next question?
- 41:30Speaker 1: What's the biograph? I don't know what that stuff? And
- 41:34Speaker 1: you ain't he been taking viagra? And y'all ain't having sex? Right?
- 41:38Speaker 1: Come on, now, it ain't one and one is two
- 41:47Speaker 1: and sweet stuff? All right? From this is from R
- 41:51Speaker 1: E in Atlanta. I'm a single black male and I'm
- 41:54Speaker 1: in graduate school. I am dating a female in my
- 41:57Speaker 1: graduate program, and I was planning to propose soon. In January,
- 42:01Speaker 1: she got pregnant but she terminated the pregnancy before she
- 42:04Speaker 1: told me she was pregnant. She said she slipped up
- 42:07Speaker 1: and had sex with her ex, and the baby wasn't
- 42:10Speaker 1: mine mine I had I'd heard about her wild side
- 42:15Speaker 1: before we started dating, but I have things in my
- 42:17Speaker 1: past that I regret too, so I tried not to
- 42:20Speaker 1: judge her, but this really hurt me. Should I leave
- 42:24Speaker 1: her alone now because she does something else before she
- 42:26Speaker 1: does something else? Or should I try to forgive her? Well, okay, don't.
- 42:30Speaker 1: You can try to forgive what you can. Go ahead
- 42:32Speaker 1: and start with the forgiveness right now. You can go ahead.
- 42:36Speaker 1: You can't forgive a person, but not let me ask you. So.
- 42:40Speaker 1: So you say you heard about her wild pads, but
- 42:46Speaker 1: is the wild pass still in the pad because she
- 42:50Speaker 1: ran up into her ex, slipped up, had sex, got pregnant,
- 42:54Speaker 1: terminated it, then told you it wasn't your baby. Wait
- 42:59Speaker 1: a minute, mane, how did you find out she terminated
- 43:02Speaker 1: a pregnancy? So now, dog, I mean, that's too much.
- 43:11Speaker 1: That's a lot that you're trying to work through your
- 43:15Speaker 1: past that then crept back into the right now, the
- 43:19Speaker 1: eggs that then crept up into the right now, A
- 43:22Speaker 1: baby that was aborted, but she told you to keep
- 43:25Speaker 1: you cool. It wasn't yours. She slipped up one time
- 43:28Speaker 1: with him. What come on the yellow. I'm telling you
- 43:33Speaker 1: right now, dog, I ain't finished. You need to finish school.
- 43:37Speaker 1: We ain't fits the Friday's fish and move on. Get
- 43:41Speaker 1: your masks. We we we ain't fitting the friday this
- 43:45Speaker 1: fish like you ain't get You ain't gonna worry about
- 43:52Speaker 1: what the sides is with this, just not fried this fish.
- 43:57Speaker 1: What you're gonnahead with it? We're gonna have nothing. You're
- 44:00Speaker 1: not frying. No, don't worry about spaghet it. You ain't
- 44:05Speaker 1: gonna worry about nothing now. We don't worry about hot sauce. Yeah,
- 44:10Speaker 1: you're right, Clo. That's why you are the CLO. Coming
- 44:15Speaker 1: up next, we're gonna switch gears. The nephew in the
- 44:18Speaker 1: building with today's praying phone call. Right after this, you're
- 44:24Speaker 1: listening to show coming up at the top of the hour,
- 44:29Speaker 1: right about four minutes after. It's my strawberry letter for today,
- 44:32Speaker 1: subject my mom needs to get a life. Okay, plain
- 44:36Speaker 1: and simple, My mom's yea a life. Right now, Nephew
- 44:40Speaker 1: standing by with today's praying phone call. What do you
- 44:45Speaker 1: have for us today. Nef a hot? It's huh again
- 44:53Speaker 1: a hot? Oh a brother? Part of the sermon Heart
- 45:02Speaker 1: in the House tonight, Let's go. Hello. Hey, I'm trying
- 45:09Speaker 1: to reach Alan. This is Alan Alan. How you doing man?
- 45:13Speaker 1: My name is Bobby, Bobby Book. Uh what what can
- 45:16Speaker 1: I do for you? I got your number, man, from
- 45:18Speaker 1: the from the hospital. Did you just um within the
- 45:23Speaker 1: last I guess three four months? Did you get a
- 45:27Speaker 1: heart transplant? But the half months ago? Yeah? I did?
- 45:30Speaker 1: I did three and a half months ago. Okay, how
- 45:34Speaker 1: you been feeling? Man? Actually good, I'm actually up and
- 45:37Speaker 1: around faster than I thought it was gonna be, you know.
- 45:40Speaker 1: So I'm doing well. Thank you? Are you with are you?
- 45:44Speaker 1: Are you with the hospital? No? No, I'm not. Uh.
- 45:47Speaker 1: Actually you know they gave me your number. Man. I
- 45:50Speaker 1: hope you kate waiting, but you you you actually? Uh
- 45:55Speaker 1: the heart that you got was from from my brother Art.
- 46:00Speaker 1: Oh my god? Really yeah that's my brother, my brother.
- 46:05Speaker 1: I'm so sorry about your brother, but wow, I gotta
- 46:07Speaker 1: tell you he saved my life. Man. Yeah. Yeah, yeah,
- 46:12Speaker 1: so so, I you know, I just want to call you, man.
- 46:15Speaker 1: I hope you on mind? You know, no, no, not
- 46:17Speaker 1: at all. No, it's kind of like a little bit
- 46:20Speaker 1: of my brothers. It's still living, you know what I mean,
- 46:22Speaker 1: It kind of it kind of feels like my brother's
- 46:24Speaker 1: still living. So that's a good thing. It's a good
- 46:27Speaker 1: thing that glad. Thank you. Yeah. Yeah, let me ask
- 46:31Speaker 1: you this, man. I'm just curious because you Caucasian, right, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 46:37Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah, do you feel any any different having
- 46:41Speaker 1: a black man's heart in your body? Cutting up? No,
- 46:45Speaker 1: I don't feel any difference. Uh no. Oh. I didn't
- 46:49Speaker 1: really think about it though. And this this will just
- 46:52Speaker 1: make me and the rest of the family feel good
- 46:54Speaker 1: that we knew what he was dedicated to and the
- 46:57Speaker 1: things that matter to him. Would you feel all right
- 47:01Speaker 1: joining the naacp uh? Is that? Are there? Some people
- 47:06Speaker 1: are gonna be upset that I joined? I mean, it's
- 47:08Speaker 1: that okay, now, well, you know, I don't know about
- 47:11Speaker 1: anybody being upset. Man, It's just I know my brother
- 47:14Speaker 1: that that's what he was a part of, and you know,
- 47:17Speaker 1: you you're walking around with his heart. Man, it would
- 47:20Speaker 1: just feel different, feel great, you know, to have to
- 47:23Speaker 1: feel like he would be back in there doing what
- 47:25Speaker 1: he was doing and fighting for for injustice for the
- 47:29Speaker 1: black community. Now you are Democratic or Republican. Well, you know,
- 47:34Speaker 1: I mean honestly that I was Republican until Trump, and
- 47:37Speaker 1: now I'm just really I'm kind of on the science.
- 47:41Speaker 1: I mean, that guy's in the idiot. You did vote
- 47:43Speaker 1: for Trump. I did not, But I am a Republican, Okay.
- 47:46Speaker 1: So and the reason why, you know, because I'm just
- 47:49Speaker 1: curious man about it. What I what I would hate
- 47:51Speaker 1: to see is you know, when twenty twenty come around,
- 47:54Speaker 1: you know, you you over there in the voting booth,
- 47:57Speaker 1: you know, with my brother black Heart and you and
- 47:59Speaker 1: then you know, voting Republican. Uh, you know, and and
- 48:03Speaker 1: that's something I know my brother wouldn't be doing, you
- 48:05Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So I'm just I'm just asking, well,
- 48:09Speaker 1: I mean, I'm not happy with Trump, but if someone
- 48:11Speaker 1: else in the Republican party runs and I agree with them,
- 48:14Speaker 1: I'm it's kind of like it's my heart. Now I
- 48:17Speaker 1: can't change my point of view just because of that.
- 48:20Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, but but but but what you're not
- 48:24Speaker 1: gonna do, though, man, is be in there with my
- 48:26Speaker 1: brother black Heart and you up in there making some
- 48:28Speaker 1: decisions that I know my brother wouldn't do. You see
- 48:32Speaker 1: what I'm saying. That's a long way off, man, But
- 48:34Speaker 1: I can't promise you that. I mean, if somebody runs
- 48:36Speaker 1: that I like, I mean, I'm gonna vote the way
- 48:38Speaker 1: I feel my heart and my head tell me the one.
- 48:43Speaker 1: Don't don't say what my heart because that ain't your heart.
- 48:46Speaker 1: You understand that my brother hard So you got every
- 48:49Speaker 1: right to ask me what you think my brother would
- 48:51Speaker 1: feel in his heart. And I tell you you understand
- 48:55Speaker 1: what I'm saying. I don't like the way I feel. Hey, man,
- 48:59Speaker 1: let me ask something you have you been like craving
- 49:01Speaker 1: different kinds of foods that you don't loly? Well? Wait,
- 49:04Speaker 1: wait a minute, what kind of call is this? Man?
- 49:07Speaker 1: I mean, you're asking me all these random questions. Why
- 49:10Speaker 1: what I don't understand where it was coming from is
- 49:13Speaker 1: coming from my brother's hawt That's where it's coming from.
- 49:17Speaker 1: You got my brother black heart inside of you, you know. Yeah,
- 49:20Speaker 1: I'm asking you. I'm asking you to do what my
- 49:22Speaker 1: brother would do, not what you would do. You want
- 49:25Speaker 1: to do it from your heart? You then you're doing
- 49:27Speaker 1: it from my brother's heart. When you first call me
- 49:29Speaker 1: about your brother, I was excited. Now I'm saying, how
- 49:31Speaker 1: much did the hospital give you just this number? And
- 49:34Speaker 1: you get to call me up? That's privilege information. You
- 49:37Speaker 1: shouldn't get to just call me and asking all these
- 49:40Speaker 1: random questions. Man, I just got a heart tat plan.
- 49:42Speaker 1: Now you're starting to get me worked up. If I'm
- 49:44Speaker 1: not trying to get you worked up, all I'm trying
- 49:47Speaker 1: to man, Okay, Okay, well let me let me come.
- 49:49Speaker 1: All I know is you got Troy had and inside
- 49:52Speaker 1: of you, and I'm trying to let you know the
- 49:53Speaker 1: kind of person choy ap please okay, so let me
- 49:56Speaker 1: let me ask this. Has your music change or you're
- 49:59Speaker 1: listening to more n B? Now? I do like R
- 50:02Speaker 1: and B, but I listened a hard rock till that
- 50:03Speaker 1: hasn't changed. Because what's in trub hard Gonne stage in
- 50:07Speaker 1: troyt hard, you understand? So you got to have that's
- 50:10Speaker 1: in your heart? Naps? Did butt in a CP? That's
- 50:14Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Okay, trying to tell you about truth?
- 50:19Speaker 1: What are you crying that I'm trying to tell you
- 50:22Speaker 1: about Ruby? Hey? Hey, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Don't I
- 50:26Speaker 1: know you missed your brother, don't damn? I'm sorry. Okay,
- 50:31Speaker 1: let let me say this, say, okay, since you got
- 50:34Speaker 1: my brother hard, I think it's only right to me
- 50:38Speaker 1: and you we get together and go to go to
- 50:41Speaker 1: a jay Z Cars so together. I think that's the
- 50:43Speaker 1: only right jay Z and be honestly, because so we
- 50:46Speaker 1: go together because that's what me and my brother did.
- 50:48Speaker 1: We we will go see them perform. Well, I mean

- 51:07Speaker 1: I'm sorry, man, Yeah, no, no, okay, listen, I'm really
- 51:10Speaker 1: I'm really sorry. I mean I get upset. I didn't

- 54:01Speaker 1: It is a Strawberry letter, Thank you, nephew. This one says,
- 54:05Speaker 1: my mom needs to get a life. That is the subject.
- 54:08Speaker 1: Dear Stephen Shirley. I'm a twenty one year old college
- 54:11Speaker 1: student and I am an only child. My parents divorced
- 54:15Speaker 1: when I was twelve, and I grew up living with
- 54:18Speaker 1: my mom. Since I was young. I have always been
- 54:21Speaker 1: a protector for my mom, and I felt like I
- 54:25Speaker 1: had to take care of her. She is a beautiful
- 54:27Speaker 1: woman and she still has a nice shape, so men
- 54:30Speaker 1: are drawn to her. Whenever we are out, men look
- 54:33Speaker 1: at her and stop and speak. She hasn't been on
- 54:36Speaker 1: many dates in the last few years, and I have
- 54:38Speaker 1: overheard her on the phone telling men that her son
- 54:41Speaker 1: is her main priority and she doesn't have time to date. Well,
- 54:45Speaker 1: I am grown now and living in another state, and
- 54:49Speaker 1: she's still using that line. My mom pressures me to
- 54:52Speaker 1: fly home on weekend so we can hang out and
- 54:55Speaker 1: I can do things around the house for her. When
- 54:57Speaker 1: I'm at home, I have to cut the grass, her car,
- 55:00Speaker 1: mcminor repairs at home, and run errands for her. I'm
- 55:03Speaker 1: expected to go to church, dinner, and anywhere else she
- 55:07Speaker 1: might want to take me. If I tell her that
- 55:09Speaker 1: I made plans with my friends from high school, she
- 55:11Speaker 1: puts a guilt trip on me. And I end up
- 55:14Speaker 1: staying home. She has no idea how much she really
- 55:18Speaker 1: needs a man in her life. I am sure the
- 55:20Speaker 1: divorce messed her up, but maybe counseling could help her.
- 55:23Speaker 1: She will probably be upset with me when she finds out,
- 55:27Speaker 1: but I have asked her two best girlfriends to take
- 55:29Speaker 1: her out as soon as she as soon as this
- 55:31Speaker 1: quarantine is over. They agreed to do her hair and
- 55:34Speaker 1: make up and help her get her groove back. I
- 55:37Speaker 1: love my mother, but I can't be everything for her anymore.
- 55:40Speaker 1: How can I get my mom to see that she
- 55:43Speaker 1: needs a man? Please advise? Well, first, I gotta tell
- 55:47Speaker 1: you this. It sounds like you were raised well. You
- 55:51Speaker 1: don't say much about your dad except where they divorced
- 55:54Speaker 1: at twelve. But you know, if this is all your mom,
- 55:57Speaker 1: she did a great job, because you know, you do
- 55:59Speaker 1: know how to take care of her. But now you're
- 56:02Speaker 1: twenty one, and you're right, she does need a man
- 56:06Speaker 1: of her own, or just not to pressure you and
- 56:09Speaker 1: to guilt trip you into doing it. And of course
- 56:11Speaker 1: you love your mom you want to help her. But again,
- 56:15Speaker 1: you're twenty one. Now you have your own life, your
- 56:17Speaker 1: own friends, and that's okay. You're perfectly within your right
- 56:21Speaker 1: to do that. You should have that. You want to
- 56:23Speaker 1: be on your own, without any guilt trips, without any
- 56:26Speaker 1: babysitting mom, none of that. Your mom is taking advantage
- 56:30Speaker 1: of you, and at this point, all the stuff she's
- 56:33Speaker 1: making you do, you're right. Mom should have a man,
- 56:37Speaker 1: or a handyman. Get a handyman from tackle. They're easy.
- 56:40Speaker 1: I did that at my house and it was perfect.
- 56:44Speaker 1: Do something like that. Okay, your mom is lonely. She
- 56:47Speaker 1: misses you. It's quite obvious. And since she doesn't have
- 56:51Speaker 1: a man, guess what you're it when she can guilt
- 56:54Speaker 1: you and pressure you into coming home. You say, she's
- 56:57Speaker 1: still nice. You know, she still looks good, she still
- 57:00Speaker 1: has a nice body, and she can attract men. So
- 57:03Speaker 1: you know, I think it's a really good thing that
- 57:05Speaker 1: you've called on her best girlfriends to step in and
- 57:08Speaker 1: help her. That's I think that's exactly what she needs.
- 57:11Speaker 1: I love the fact that you're twenty one and you're
- 57:13Speaker 1: wise enough to know all of this. Your mom just
- 57:16Speaker 1: needs to let you go now, and you need to
- 57:19Speaker 1: talk to her. Sit her down, talk to her nicely, respectfully,
- 57:22Speaker 1: and just tell her how you feel. You know, you
- 57:25Speaker 1: guys have that bond and then you go on and
- 57:27Speaker 1: live your life. Steve, Yeah, young brother, we got a
- 57:33Speaker 1: little situation here. You're the only child. Your parents divorced
- 57:39Speaker 1: when you were twelve. You are now twenty one. You
- 57:44Speaker 1: grew up with your mom. You've always been her protective
- 57:48Speaker 1: and you feel like you had to take care of
- 57:50Speaker 1: That's a boy's job. That's training for becoming a man.
- 57:55Speaker 1: That's what we are. One of our main qualities as
- 58:01Speaker 1: men is to be a protector. She's beautiful, still got
- 58:04Speaker 1: nice shapes from me. In a drawn to her, she
- 58:06Speaker 1: hadn't been on a lot of dates in a few years.
- 58:08Speaker 1: And I've overheard on the phone telling men that her
- 58:10Speaker 1: son is her main priority and she doesn't have time
- 58:13Speaker 1: to date. Or she's using that line because she's stuck
- 58:19Speaker 1: in reverse. And what I mean by that is, you
- 58:23Speaker 1: got a divorce. Your mom got a divorce when you
- 58:26Speaker 1: were twelve. You're twenty one. If you reverse the number
- 58:32Speaker 1: twenty one, you back at twelve. She has not moved
- 58:37Speaker 1: off that number. She is stuck thus who as she was,
- 58:44Speaker 1: and since the divorce, she has put her life on pause.
- 58:49Speaker 1: At first, that was a true statement. I don't have
- 58:53Speaker 1: time to date. He's your number one priority. You've grown,
- 58:56Speaker 1: you live out of state. Now you cannot be her
- 58:59Speaker 1: number one priority anymore. But she keeps using that because
- 59:03Speaker 1: it sounds good. It's a defense mechanism that she's giving
- 59:09Speaker 1: these guys to protect herself from the vulnerability of being
- 59:14Speaker 1: in a relationship. So we have a situation here, we
- 59:19Speaker 1: really really do that, and your mom needs some help
- 59:24Speaker 1: and you have to help her get unstuck. You have
- 59:29Speaker 1: to help her find some independence. Now. I like the
- 59:37Speaker 1: idea you had about calling her girlfriends. So when we
- 59:42Speaker 1: come back, I'll try to find, maybe if I can,
- 59:48Speaker 1: a couple of suggestions for you, but I'm not I
- 59:53Speaker 1: don't know if you're gonna like them a lot, but
- 59:56Speaker 1: I think you might have to try some of them. Okay,
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: hanging there, young fellow. It's gonna be all good. But
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: some things you're gonna have to do to help her
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: with her independence. I think that's what I think. That's
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: what I'll have when we come back. All right, Steve,
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: I like it. We'll have part two of your response
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: coming up at twenty three minutes after the hour Today's
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: Strawberry letter. My mom needs to get a life we'll
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: get back into it right after this. You're listening, all right, Steve,
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: Come on, let's recap today's Strawberry Letters, subject my mom
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: needs to get a life. Well, you're right, your mom
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: does need to get a life. But you're gonna have
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: to help her because you've been divorced. You're from a
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: divorce family since you were twelve. You're twenty one, and
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: like I said earlier, your mom is stuck in reverse
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: her life. She put it on pause when you were twelve.
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: Nine years later, she's still stuck in that same thing.
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: So even though she's nice looking, still got a nice shape,
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: men are drawn to her. She's telling men that you're
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: her number one priority, which you were when you were
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: twelve through sixteen seventeen in high school, but you went
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: to college. Now you live somewhere else. Now your mom
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: pressures you to fly home and wants you to wash
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: a car, cut the grass. Now she wants you to
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: do the things that your dad used to do. See,
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: she keeps getting stuck in reverse, so she uses you
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: as the excuse because you're her number one priority because
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: you were her child still are. But when you were
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: a little boy, you're grown man now well now she
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: uses that same excuse. But when you come home, now
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: you got to do what Daddy used to do. Okay,
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: just go in your room and play video game. So
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: now you've called on her a couple of her girlfriends
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: to fix her hand, take her out once this quarantine
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: is over. Navd Greed, great job. But now, young man,
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: you're gonna have to do some things to help her
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: because you got to help your mother cut the apron streets. See,
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: you're not hanging on to the apron strings. Your mother
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: has tied the apron strings around your neck and she
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: yanks him when she needs something. So now what you're
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: gonna have to do is you're gonna have to help
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: her cut the apron strings. I have a few suggestions.
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: Let's go now, young man, you might not like these,
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: but you're gonna have to practice. I'm not gonna joke
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: with him because he's a young dude and he trying
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: to help, trying to get it together. So like if
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: my son's had this issue, what would I tell? So
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: here we go in twenty one. You're gonna have to
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: start practicing some tough love. She is your mother, but
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: you've got to help her. Untied the apron strings so
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: she can get on with her life. So in this
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: tough love, you're gonna have to start flying home so much.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: You just gotta stop. Man, mom, waa busy this weekend.
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: I can't make it. That's one suggestion. The next suggestion
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: is when you do fly in, fly in with a girl.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: See that puts the big boys stuff in their face
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: a little bit quicker. And I think you have to
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: introduce her to the man that you are now so
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: she could quit view and you ask the boy and
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: stop trying to make you her man. She has to
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: see that you are somebody else's man. Let's church say man.
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: So I think you should fly in with her. Here's
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: another suggestion. You need to fly her sometimes to you
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: so she can see your life. Have your friends drop by,
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: have a card party at your house or whatever y'all have,
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: you know, have her, have her stay at your house
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: and your girl spend the night. You got to introduce
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: her to your life. Now. I'm not saying you got
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: to be disrespectful in any way, so you don't want
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: to do that. But if it's not being disrespectful, you
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: just got to introduce it to your life. Because all
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: that going out to did it with your mom and
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: all like that. Yeah that's good and all that's cool. Man,
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: ain't nothing wrong with that, But man, it's pulling on you,
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: and she's not. Once she sees her child with a life,
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: once she sees her child with a man, then we
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: own to something. Now she might start saying, Wow, he's
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: not my number one priority because he has other priorities.
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: Now he's still You're gonna still love your mama to
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: day you die, but you gotta practice some tough love
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: if you don't. And you're gonna be playing this game
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: for a long time. And I'm gonna tell you something, man,
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: this game aren't gonna be cute to girls you're dating
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: because they're not gonna see it like that. They're gonna
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: thank you a mama's boy, when really it's just she's
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: a she's a boy's mama. It's really reverse. You ain't
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: a mama's boy. She's a boy's mama, and she want
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: to be a boy's mama all her life. And she
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: she gotta young man now, and so you're gonna have
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: to help her. Cut dabrid Street. That's my answer to
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: the letter, without any jokes, And I think he'll get
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: it because he's a pretty wise young man at twenty one,
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: smart dude, very much so. And he was raised well.
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: So you give mom credit for that. Oh, she done
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: a great job. She did a really good job with
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: this young man. She did. But you know, come on, now,
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: everybody has to grow up. But he's not her man though.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: That's the thing. He's not her man, he's her son. Well,
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: she has to realize that. And the only thing way
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: to get it is he got to help her. He's
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: got to help her. Yeah, and you could also solicit
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: her friends to help with that too, not only take
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: her out, but say, hey, come on now, you gotta
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: let this boy have his life. And it's not like Steve.
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: It's not like she doesn't have men in her life
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: that call her, that want to be with her. It's
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: not even like that. But surely all he got to
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: do is flying down with a bad that'll shut it
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: all down you right now? Yeah, well, why would you
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: bring Hi Hi? Yeah? Because I really careful care about him. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: that's what you have to do. M hmm, that's what
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: you have to do. Oh Mom, gotta let go, all right.
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: You can post your comments on Today's Strawberry Letter at
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: Steve Harvey FM on Instagram and Facebook, and check out

- 1:07:01Speaker 1: to play a new instrument, taking online college courses, learning
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: to cook, or working out more. It's way on this way,
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: It's Wellness Wednesday, Tommy, play on this your ask what

- 1:07:46Speaker 1: This is how I know I'm serious because I've made
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: this diet change. Just the way I eat when I
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: ain't got no where to go. Yeah, and most people
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: Steve are doing the They're hanging on to that refrigerator.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: They're in there every yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well my wife
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: and I hanging on to the refrigerator too, but we'll
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: only put certain things in there. I have not had
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: anything for fifteen days that I started this. Fifteen days
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: I've eaten completely clean. I have not put anything in
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: my body that's been processed at all. That's connect. So
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: have you lost weight? Have you lost Yeah? Yeah, I
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: don't want to say how much though, Okay, okay, okay,
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: well congratulations. Yeah I don't ye yes, yeah, but I
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: just thought, yeah, go ahead, Yeah, I was gonna ask
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: Junior or what I'm working on by the time this thing, Oh,
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: I'm gonna be bad at going out, I won't be
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: bad at I'm gonna be so much better at leaving.
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: Like the meme that's says, after the COVID nineteen is over,
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: crisis is over, I invite me to everything. I'm going
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: to everything. Oh yeah, I do that. Yeah, but but
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: but that's what I'm working on getting out of here.
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: What about you, nephews? I do I do well onness wings.
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: That's what I do what well on this wings wings
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: that they all they wings on the grills. Wellness wings
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: on whist man, you can't beat this him you you
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: you be wailing fan when you get a play of
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: my wings, trust me on this him? Okay, well, thank you.
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: I think we're all caught up now. Coming up at
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: the top of the hour, we'll ask Junior about his
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: dating life. Oh right after this, you're listening to morning show.
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: All right, Junior, So we all have a you know,
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: a few single friends in quarantine that are very anxious
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: to get back to the dating life and hooking up.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: You know, uh yeah, that they're gonna be swiping left
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: and right on the online apps apps to meet people,
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: and you know they want to start dating again. So
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: our question to you, Junior, is, as the quarantine made
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: you want to be in a relationship or get married
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: or just appreciate being single? Which which way are you
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: going with this? Will you be lowing or keep lowering
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: or keeping your standards when you get out of the quarantine? Oh,
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: absolutely sure that they low Like what will you accept
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: out that you would accept? First of all, I don't
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: have time to meet nobody own no app No, I
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: ain't swiping up. I gotta meet you right where you at,
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: whether it's the stow in your car, at the park,
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: your football game, I'm gonna meet you over there, because, yeah,
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: I got a problem with this lowly thing. I got somebody,
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: and I realized high I'm pulling it is to have somebody.
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: My standards are probably the same standards as you will
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: for a newborn baby. Ten toes, ten fingers. Let's I
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: really don't need much else after that. Anything else is
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: a bonus. If you can talk good, if you can
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: hold a conversation, we'll take that. I don't really have
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: too If they I don't care if they really messed up,
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: because I'm telling I've been in here nine months by myself.
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: I can't be picking how she looking, what she got on?
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: Is you talking to look you? I look attractive to you.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: This is what I need to know. This is all
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: I need because I found out it's important to have somebody. Uh,
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: you know it really is, you know you know what.
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: Matter of factually, I don't even like dogs, but I'm
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: gonna get one because it's gonna help with the recruitment.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: That's what I'm gonna use the dog dog to get
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: me a female. Yes, I am good laid out for
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: when they lift this lift this band. I ain't got
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: to take no shower. I'm already be out there though.
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: I'd be our first one in the car. The best
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: suit I got in my closets coming out. Yeah, I'm
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: gonna be so damn shop. But I'm at a football
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: game hauling for Mason. Because that's her son. Put on Mason.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: Let's get in Mason. Here we go by Bacon has
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: no clue who the hell I am. And it's red
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: suit with the black suede shoes on. Yeah, he got
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: the red one out do I got the red without
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: man because I'm not gonna sit in here act like
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: this is this is, this is what's popping. Do you
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: know how many FaceTime videos I'm trying to have a
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: date on somebody. These virtual dates me going on don't work.
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: Do you ever try tongue kissing with you just kissing them?
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: It really don't go that well. Because I've learned how
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: glass taste. That's what I thought about. This ain't really
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: was popping that. What's it got my whole tongue sliding across.
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: I didn't even know I had a cut in the
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: middle of my tongue had a TORTI and ship put
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: that there. We're learning so much. I'll be listening to
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: y'all be time. I can't stand talking to my partner
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: all this time. I want some time and partner all.
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: I need somebody in here. I told y'all when my
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: neighbor she across the hall with her, don't open my
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: dough open. She think I'm creeping every time somebody lives
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: on her. I opened it, dough just said what's up?
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: She just slammed her. I don't shown't like me right now,
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: but wait till I walk out on this first day
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: of quarantine up on you. How she's gonna be all
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: of man, I don't care. I'm just saying it's just
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: enough for me to understand that this is important. Hey, Julior,
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: what's up on, Junior? When you're opening the dough man,
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: why don't you take them big basketball shorts off? You
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: know what the problem? Yeah? Yeah, what I'm wanna put
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: on top? I'm in here by myself. I'm in him now.
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: How you think I know I'm working from home? Don't
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: wear anything. I didn't even look you know what that
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: could be the problem? I mean I'm coming to the
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: doe like baby boy. That's why I look like what
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: I thought joan coming to the dough. We're not gonna
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: step it up now. I'm gonna go ahead and get
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: the blue suit and put it on. When she opened
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: up dough, then she gonna see something different. Yes, she's
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: gonna see something different. But this is the very important.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: This ain't even fun, man, it's not. Don't let nobody
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: single tell you that they're having a good time. They lie.
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: I need the woman who can cook and clean or
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: do something. I'm tired of doing it. All right, coming
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: up more of today's trending stories, and I think Steve
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: has some information for Junior. More information. We'll be back
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: in twenty minutes after the hour, right after this. You're listening,
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: all right, So Steve, you had some more information from Junior.
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: Junior says, you know, when the quarantine is over, he
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: wants to um, you know, be in a relationship. So
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: you were trying to help him out. That's what you do, man, Cello,
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: y'all you stay right across the hall. Man, Yes, I
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: get you one of them selfie sticks. I want you
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: to open your door so you can practice social distancing,
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: Take the selfie stick and knock on her door, or
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: push it and ring the door back. Have a note
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: on the end of the selfie stick that says, I'm
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: going to the store. I just want to know if
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: you'd like for me to drop anything off at your
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: door when I come back. That's how you do, though,
