- 2:01Speaker 1: share will but come on, and everybody you're listening to
- 2:05Speaker 1: the voice, come on dig me now. One and only.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Steve Harvey got a radio show man. Oh man, oh man?
- 2:13Speaker 1: How many times I got to say that before I
- 2:16Speaker 1: get tired of it. I think it's gonna be a minute, folks.
- 2:20Speaker 1: I gotta be real with you, because, boy, that Steve
- 2:23Speaker 1: Harvey got a radio show man. Clear indication of how
- 2:29Speaker 1: God can do some unexpected, wonderful things for you, how
- 2:34Speaker 1: he leads your life in directions that you never ever
- 2:37Speaker 1: saw coming. You know. I was talking with somebody the
- 2:40Speaker 1: other day and they were talking about how man, they
- 2:43Speaker 1: were young, and they were doing things, and they never
- 2:46Speaker 1: knew that the things that they were doing as a
- 2:48Speaker 1: youngster would come and helped form who they were today
- 2:54Speaker 1: as an adult disguise fifty years old. And you know
- 2:58Speaker 1: the same thing for you, if you look back on
- 3:01Speaker 1: your life and all of the things that you've done,
- 3:04Speaker 1: it helps shape you into who you are now. This
- 3:08Speaker 1: is provided now that you take the positive approach. Now
- 3:13Speaker 1: when I say look back at your life and see
- 3:15Speaker 1: what you've done, that doesn't mean dwell on the misfortunate moments,
- 3:19Speaker 1: because the misfortunate moments were necessary. I know it. It's
- 3:23Speaker 1: hard to see that when it's happening to you, but
- 3:25Speaker 1: the unfortunate moments are necessary. You know, what really makes
- 3:30Speaker 1: you appreciate summer vacation is winter work. What really makes
- 3:36Speaker 1: you appreciate a walk on the beach, it's when it's cold,
- 3:39Speaker 1: it is raining outside. What really makes you appreciate when
- 3:44Speaker 1: you're up, it's because you've been down. See if you
- 3:48Speaker 1: are up all the time. Just the nature of us
- 3:51Speaker 1: as human beings, we would lose our appreciation for because
- 3:55Speaker 1: it becomes case surah, whatever it is, well, it is
- 3:58Speaker 1: what it is. I'm just what what what you take
- 4:01Speaker 1: it for? Granted, it becomes expected, but what happens in
- 4:04Speaker 1: life says it has so many twisting turns, and then
- 4:08Speaker 1: you learn how to deal with those twisting turns, which
- 4:11Speaker 1: makes you now a more experienced person. And then when
- 4:14Speaker 1: the sunny days come, man, you go wild. It's really
- 4:17Speaker 1: nice outside. You really want to appreciate how warm weather.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Just stay in a bunch of cold weather all the time.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I'm you know what I'm saying. I'm just this is
- 4:25Speaker 1: really really simple and now analogies, but it helps you
- 4:28Speaker 1: along the way. Now here's what I came to say
- 4:32Speaker 1: today to everybody out there. And this has helped me
- 4:35Speaker 1: in my life. I can't tell you what it's done
- 4:38Speaker 1: for me. But a lot of people are struggling with
- 4:43Speaker 1: moving forward with their future, their future plans, their future goals,
- 4:49Speaker 1: their future aspirations, their future hopes, their future dreams. Just
- 4:55Speaker 1: simply that your future wants a lot of people trying
- 4:58Speaker 1: to have a hard time mapping out their future. Even
- 5:02Speaker 1: what I'm gonna do, what I'm gonna be, what I'm
- 5:06Speaker 1: gonna make ham or go about it? What do I
- 5:09Speaker 1: do next? I want to share something with you that
- 5:12Speaker 1: I had to come to terms with. The quickest way
- 5:15Speaker 1: to lose focus on your future is to keep focusing
- 5:20Speaker 1: on your past. You know, it's like I said at
- 5:22Speaker 1: the beginning. You know when I say it's wonderful to
- 5:25Speaker 1: look at your life and review it, because if you
- 5:28Speaker 1: look at it, it'll tell you it really helps shape
- 5:32Speaker 1: inform you today as the person you are now if
- 5:36Speaker 1: you look at it in a positive sense. But if
- 5:39Speaker 1: you dwell in harp on the negative that's happened to you,
- 5:43Speaker 1: then that keeps you from seeing the good in the incident,
- 5:46Speaker 1: every bad thing that's happened to you, that was a
- 5:49Speaker 1: silver lining behind it. I know people who were on
- 5:53Speaker 1: drugs who finally, man just got sent to prison for
- 5:56Speaker 1: stealing because of the habit. I know Cat that's so dope.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Well he went to prison. He told me one time.
- 6:03Speaker 1: He said, Steve, it's a man. This is the best
- 6:05Speaker 1: thing ever happened to me to save my life. Now,
- 6:08Speaker 1: most people would think, how in the world is going
- 6:11Speaker 1: to prison helpful for you? The brother said, it saved
- 6:15Speaker 1: my life. First of all, it got me clean. He said,
- 6:19Speaker 1: I've been cleaned for five years from sitting in here.
- 6:22Speaker 1: That's for starters. I'm cleaned. I ain't still in no more.
- 6:26Speaker 1: I ain't putting myself in jeopard and I ain't jeopardizing
- 6:28Speaker 1: nobody else. He said, Now, man, I don't went to college.
- 6:32Speaker 1: I didn't got a college degree while I met him.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Then he was released from prison, and the brother's life
- 6:39Speaker 1: was completely turned around. He married, he got a family,
- 6:43Speaker 1: he got a great job. He'd go to work every day.
- 6:46Speaker 1: He's a productive citizen. I mean. So he looks back
- 6:50Speaker 1: on his incarceration, even his drug abuse, and it taught
- 6:56Speaker 1: him how to appreciate the things in life that he
- 6:58Speaker 1: had taken for granted and was missing because he said, man,
- 7:01Speaker 1: my life was just in a blur. I didn't even
- 7:04Speaker 1: know what was going on. He said, Now I appreciate
- 7:07Speaker 1: every day I wake up. That's what I mean. Even
- 7:10Speaker 1: in your missteps in life, there is a purpose for
- 7:14Speaker 1: the missteps. Every time you fail, there was a reason
- 7:18Speaker 1: for the failure. See what I had to do was
- 7:21Speaker 1: I had to learn that all of my failures taught
- 7:24Speaker 1: me how to get back up. So I became a
- 7:27Speaker 1: very strong and tough person in getting back up. And
- 7:31Speaker 1: then I was down and out so long that it
- 7:34Speaker 1: taught me how to really appreciate the up. And so
- 7:37Speaker 1: I've taken all of that and used it. Those experiences
- 7:41Speaker 1: that happened to me, and I became a more experienced person.
- 7:45Speaker 1: So next time when people talk about me who don't
- 7:48Speaker 1: know me, it don't shake me. Because everybody's not gonna
- 7:52Speaker 1: like you. Man, you might as well gonna get on
- 7:54Speaker 1: this train right now. And so what I'm saying to
- 7:57Speaker 1: you out there is the quickest way to focus on
- 8:00Speaker 1: your future is to keep focusing on your path. Let
- 8:04Speaker 1: it go. Yeah yeah, yeah he left. But like I
- 8:07Speaker 1: told us lady on my TV show the other day,
- 8:09Speaker 1: sometimes the breakup is the blessing. I know it's hard
- 8:13Speaker 1: to break up because now you're loaning you by yourself.
- 8:15Speaker 1: But man, but when't you in misery when you was
- 8:17Speaker 1: in that, weren't you in complete misery in that? Now
- 8:23Speaker 1: you kept asking God to fix it. But it takes
- 8:25Speaker 1: two people to fix a relationship. It don't just take one.
- 8:28Speaker 1: It takes two to make a thing go right. It
- 8:32Speaker 1: takes two to make it out of sight. You really
- 8:35Speaker 1: do have to have two people wanting a relationship to work.
- 8:38Speaker 1: It can't just be one person want a relationship, so
- 8:41Speaker 1: you can pray about the relationship all you want. If
- 8:44Speaker 1: the other person don't want you no more and ain't
- 8:46Speaker 1: gonna act right, you can't make him do that, or
- 8:49Speaker 1: you can't make her do that. But you steady asking
- 8:53Speaker 1: God for a new relationship. But you are yet to
- 8:58Speaker 1: be grateful that you are in a position to have
- 9:01Speaker 1: a relationship. And you keep harping on the pass. You
- 9:04Speaker 1: don't think he hear that. I'm just a dude with
- 9:06Speaker 1: a show, and I hear it all the time. Let
- 9:09Speaker 1: it go go forward. It's over. You made it, He
- 9:13Speaker 1: bought you through it. You survived it. Why are you
- 9:17Speaker 1: dwelling on it and making it the cross around your
- 9:21Speaker 1: neck when clearly he had removed it for you. Now
- 9:25Speaker 1: all you got to do is come on. So if
- 9:27Speaker 1: you're sitting behind him walls, brothers and sisters, I'm talking
- 9:30Speaker 1: directly to you sometimes. Man, you just got to get
- 9:33Speaker 1: it right. All this repeat of fitting the business that's for?
- 9:36Speaker 1: Who is that for? How ignorant can you be to
- 9:40Speaker 1: keep giving your life back to the penal system? Be free, man,
- 9:44Speaker 1: walk the streets, do the right thing. Ask God to
- 9:47Speaker 1: help connect you. He could do anything. You think he
- 9:50Speaker 1: can't give you a job? Are you serious? Man? Put
- 9:53Speaker 1: some faith on it. Let's move forward, y'all, let it go.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Let's move you're listening ladies and gentlemen, barnes and girls,
- 10:03Speaker 1: please may have your attention please. Today's show is dedicated
- 10:09Speaker 1: to those of you who are striving for greatness. This
- 10:13Speaker 1: is for everybody that's striving for greatness. I ran across
- 10:18Speaker 1: some information that I have got to share with you
- 10:21Speaker 1: because this is good news. A guy sent me this
- 10:26Speaker 1: today and it's a it's a billboard, but it says
- 10:31Speaker 1: in capital letters, never forget three types of people in
- 10:36Speaker 1: your life. Okay, never forget three types of people in
- 10:41Speaker 1: your life. The first person you should never forget is
- 10:45Speaker 1: who helped you in your difficult time. That's the first person.
- 10:50Speaker 1: The second person you should never forget is who left
- 10:53Speaker 1: you in your difficult time. You need to who they
- 10:58Speaker 1: are who left you in your difficult time. And the
- 11:02Speaker 1: third person you should always remember is who put you
- 11:06Speaker 1: in difficult times? Whoa get your mind? The third that
- 11:10Speaker 1: could all be the same person, right, yeah, who put
- 11:13Speaker 1: you in your difficult time? Not a thing? Maybe in
- 11:17Speaker 1: your life, nephew, ain't nobody helped me in my difficult times?
- 11:24Speaker 1: Was the same one that put me that? Yeah? Yeah,
- 11:31Speaker 1: those are those are some important people. The one that
- 11:33Speaker 1: puts you could have been the one that left you
- 11:36Speaker 1: in your difficult times. Oh, the one that puts you
- 11:39Speaker 1: in them is shot. That's been mine. Yeah, yeah, that's
- 11:42Speaker 1: been my biggest one. That those two could can go. Yeah, yeah,
- 11:49Speaker 1: you don't who who left you in your difficult time?
- 11:53Speaker 1: And it was the same person that put me in
- 11:55Speaker 1: the Yeah, walked off, skipping like what nothing going on?
- 12:00Speaker 1: Saw you in? Yeah? Good morning everybody, Charlotte, what's going
- 12:04Speaker 1: on to you? Call Tuesday? Hey, good morning crews. Join morning.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Foo number one, ya sa yr sag in the building
- 12:15Speaker 1: Foo number two. Things to me that my head was
- 12:30Speaker 1: down because I said, if I bust out laughing right now,
- 12:34Speaker 1: Steve's gonna look at me so crazy, just type of person,
- 12:38Speaker 1: just fully him. Right. But you didn't, did you? Eventually?
- 12:49Speaker 1: Always he used to me with us when we were
- 12:55Speaker 1: in La before. Yeah, God has a way. I'm doing
- 12:59Speaker 1: it in his own time. And that's the thing. It's
- 13:03Speaker 1: easy to have faith when you look at high could
- 13:06Speaker 1: end up. Yeah, oh, because that's exciting and it looks rewarding.
- 13:11Speaker 1: The difficult part is keeping faith in the middle going through. Yeah,
- 13:15Speaker 1: it's in the middle where you got to keep the faith.
- 13:17Speaker 1: And most people lose the trip because they lose faith
- 13:19Speaker 1: in the middle. Hey, y'all, if you're going through something
- 13:22Speaker 1: and you're in the middle of it, keep your faith
- 13:24Speaker 1: because the end will surely come. Keep the faith, man,
- 13:28Speaker 1: keep Freith, Sir, you're listening show all right, the guys
- 13:33Speaker 1: are here with today's comedy segment. Jay, come on, this
- 13:37Speaker 1: is out of your mind. You're still work here for now.

- 13:45Speaker 1: anything that a man does anything and makes something out
- 13:51Speaker 1: of it. By the way she phrases it, okay, like
- 13:55Speaker 1: it makes you feel as if you're doing something wrong.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Oh oh, you taking showers? Now, well, dude, what's wrong
- 14:07Speaker 1: with that? And we got one in the bando. When

- 19:44Speaker 1: stupid you eating baked chicken. Since when since when you
- 19:50Speaker 1: got to where you want to hold my hand? Now?
- 19:52Speaker 1: When we go when the start here this holding hands?
- 19:55Speaker 1: When that start you started wearing your ring again? Huh?
- 20:01Speaker 1: He can't win, all right, Come on, Steve, close this out.
- 20:07Speaker 1: This is it. I'm through you through now, you through
- 20:14Speaker 1: oh now? Oh now when you start crying after six,
- 20:22Speaker 1: oh my god, you're listening morning show all right? Coming
- 20:32Speaker 1: up at the top of the hour, miss Anne, we'll
- 20:34Speaker 1: be here with today's national news and headlines. But right
- 20:37Speaker 1: now it's time for the nephew to run that brankback.
- 20:40Speaker 1: This goes out to all of y'all, all of y'all
- 20:42Speaker 1: in the blue and white. You ain't no segment. Hello, Oh,
- 20:48Speaker 1: I'm trying to reach a greg please. Yeah, this is he?
- 20:51Speaker 1: How you doing? My name is Bernard, five Beta Sigma.
- 20:54Speaker 1: I'm over pledged relationships? Uh huh giving you a call
- 20:58Speaker 1: to day man. You attended privew A and m University.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Am I correct? Per? Okay? And from my understanding, you
- 21:08Speaker 1: pledge five Beta signal and fall of ninety one. That's correct,
- 21:12Speaker 1: all right, that's the del the Theta chapter. Correct, Yes,
- 21:16Speaker 1: all right. Here's where we're having some problems here, going
- 21:19Speaker 1: through the records, going through the records, actually looking at
- 21:22Speaker 1: the records that we have here headquarters. You're not actually
- 21:25Speaker 1: an official member of five Beta Signa. But wait a minute,
- 21:29Speaker 1: what what you mean not a member? Looking at our
- 21:31Speaker 1: records here at national headquarters, it's indicating that you're not
- 21:34Speaker 1: an official member of five Beta Sigma. I don't know
- 21:37Speaker 1: what could have gone wrong? Now? That ain't right, man?
- 21:40Speaker 1: That ain't right because see, depth of data is recognized nationally,
- 21:44Speaker 1: so why wouldn't I be nationally recognized. I'm not certain, sir.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Maybe it's something that took place on that that actual
- 21:50Speaker 1: line of Fall ninety one. We're actually going to have
- 21:53Speaker 1: to do some research on everything that's going on with
- 21:55Speaker 1: your line as well as the chapter. But how is
- 21:58Speaker 1: that possible? If they gave if they gave me a
- 22:00Speaker 1: statisticate in the plaque and I got my pen and
- 22:03Speaker 1: I mean, I'm a sigma what you mean? Okay, please understand.
- 22:07Speaker 1: I want to try to clear this matter up. Yeah, yeah,
- 22:09Speaker 1: we need to see this matter. Who else? Is there
- 22:11Speaker 1: somebody there like a oversee uh maybe the head president
- 22:16Speaker 1: or your branch or something I can talk to or something. Well,
- 22:18Speaker 1: I'm actually I am actually over pledged relations and I
- 22:22Speaker 1: wanted to give you a call personally so we can
- 22:24Speaker 1: try to rectify the matter. And it's gonna take us
- 22:26Speaker 1: some time to hire this thing out. Yeah, And you
- 22:29Speaker 1: know what the problem is that I'm noticing is that
- 22:31Speaker 1: all of the people that were on your line, they
- 22:34Speaker 1: are official. For some reason, mister Greg is an official,
- 22:38Speaker 1: So I want to I don't understand that because I
- 22:40Speaker 1: was the line president. So how how is everybody else
- 22:44Speaker 1: able to be a sigma and not me when I
- 22:47Speaker 1: did all the paperwork that it takes for the process

- 32:47Speaker 1: I see him. I can't be doing it, just stomping
- 32:51Speaker 1: in batter the whole time. You just called somebody. All right, Steve,
- 32:57Speaker 1: let's get to the news, ladies and gentlemen and trip. Okay,
- 33:01Speaker 1: thank you very much, everybody. Yes, I have two bathrooms,
- 33:04Speaker 1: more than that. Anyway, this is answered. But the news
- 33:06Speaker 1: in Ohio Carner finds that the young white man behind
- 33:09Speaker 1: the mass shooting and daton early this month had several
- 33:12Speaker 1: drugs in his system, including cocaine. That shooter kill nine people,
- 33:15Speaker 1: his sister and eight other folks, six of them were black,
- 33:18Speaker 1: before people and police took him down. Meanwhile, authorities say
- 33:22Speaker 1: that one of the Dayton victims was also shot by
- 33:24Speaker 1: the police. However, doctors say the woman had already been
- 33:27Speaker 1: mortally wounded by a bullet from the gunman's weapon. That's
- 33:30Speaker 1: according to police Chief Richie beal Well. He's heavily on
- 33:32Speaker 1: us that some are rounds caused additional wounding. We are
- 33:35Speaker 1: comforted by the corners finding that no rounds fired by
- 33:38Speaker 1: officers resulted in death of any innocent citizens, and the
- 33:42Speaker 1: dating assault took place after another white man went on
- 33:44Speaker 1: an anti Hispanic rampage in El Paso, Texas, killing twenty
- 33:47Speaker 1: two people. President Trump led Israeli Prime Minister Benji Benette, Yeah,
- 33:51Speaker 1: who know that he shouldn't let two of his most
- 33:53Speaker 1: frequent congressional targets into Israel. Trump says that it would
- 33:57Speaker 1: be terrible, according to him, for Israel to allow represented
- 34:00Speaker 1: as ilhan Omar and Rashida Talib into the Jewish state.
- 34:04Speaker 1: So the Israeli government says that will bar one of
- 34:07Speaker 1: the two Muslim democrats. They're gonna bar both of them.
- 34:09Speaker 1: But now they say they're only gonna bar ilhan Omar
- 34:13Speaker 1: because of her support for a Palestinian led boycott movement.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Rashida Tali Boso apparently supports that, but they're letting Rashida
- 34:20Speaker 1: Taliban on humanitarian reasons because she wants to see her
- 34:24Speaker 1: ninety year old grandmother. Congresswoman Omar accuses and Yahoo are
- 34:27Speaker 1: doing Trump's bidding, and then there was one less. Former
- 34:30Speaker 1: Colorado Governor John Hickan luper says, that's it. I'm ending
- 34:34Speaker 1: my campaign for president, but I will never stop believing
- 34:37Speaker 1: that America can only move forward when you work together.
- 34:41Speaker 1: Hick and Looper made that announcement in a video by
- 34:43Speaker 1: way of Twitter. A black man who was simply driving
- 34:45Speaker 1: down Texas rode in his old neighborhood with his ten
- 34:47Speaker 1: year old son and twelve year old great nephew, says
- 34:50Speaker 1: that a white man on horseback carrying a rope cut
- 34:52Speaker 1: him off, face down like it was the Old West,
- 34:54Speaker 1: for no reason. The victim of black man, named James Raglan,
- 34:57Speaker 1: has a journalist. He's written for the Dallas Warning News
- 34:59Speaker 1: and Washington Post. The guy in the horsebackson's been identified
- 35:02Speaker 1: as Grant Williams. Raglan says, William kept saying, quote, these
- 35:06Speaker 1: are Texas Rose, pointed to mister Ragland's California license played.
- 35:10Speaker 1: Raglan said nice horse and said, by the way, this
- 35:13Speaker 1: particular car is rented, And then he says, the guy
- 35:15Speaker 1: kept saying, yeah, but these are Texas Rose. Anyway, he
- 35:18Speaker 1: drove around them his children that the children were hysterical crying.
- 35:22Speaker 1: Raglan eventally eventually called the Harrison County Sheriff's office. He
- 35:26Speaker 1: says one cop that he spoke to hung up on him,
- 35:30Speaker 1: and the other one says that, well, we spoke to
- 35:32Speaker 1: mister Williams and he said he only took his rope
- 35:34Speaker 1: out to train his horse, and they did not believe
- 35:36Speaker 1: mister Raglan. Okay, finally, today is true love for ever day.
- 35:40Speaker 1: He's the Lord. You back to the Steve Harvey boarding
- 35:45Speaker 1: show you're listening. Gave me too hard. She's the queen
- 35:52Speaker 1: and she will forever have an impact on my soul.
- 35:55Speaker 1: I know millions of people haven't heard her music, and
- 35:58Speaker 1: she's gonna ever be remembered and nobody. I loved her
- 36:02Speaker 1: dignity and all she did, and her love of God
- 36:06Speaker 1: made her who she is. When she sang, you had
- 36:11Speaker 1: to feel the fire your heart and soul because she
- 36:15Speaker 1: was very uplifting. Her music brought joy to everybody. Her
- 36:20Speaker 1: music was absolutely inspirational. She was there all in her
- 36:25Speaker 1: arm with Mark Luther King and when she did respect,
- 36:29Speaker 1: that went a long way. Well, today, people, our hearts
- 36:33Speaker 1: are heavy as we lost the Queen of soul. Aretha Franklin.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Miss Franklin, of course, was born in Memphis, Tennessee, back

- 36:54Speaker 1: to R and B and became the Queen of soul. Yes.
- 36:59Speaker 1: Her six are MB chart toppers included the nineteen sixty
- 37:02Speaker 1: seven pop number one hit respect our eespect Fine, find

- 37:19Speaker 1: plus two honorary Grammys. She was the first female solo
- 37:24Speaker 1: artist that was ever inducted into the Rock and Roll
- 37:26Speaker 1: Hall of Fame. She performed, Yes, She performed at the
- 37:30Speaker 1: presidential inaugurations of Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and of course
- 37:35Speaker 1: Barack Obama. That hat, Yes, you'll never forget that hat.
- 37:39Speaker 1: That hat they remember when Ellen wore the hat on
- 37:43Speaker 1: her show the following day. That was funny. Yes, Miss

- 37:52Speaker 1: And all morning long, We're going to play Aretha Franklin songs.
- 37:56Speaker 1: And boy did she have some hits. Man who Steve

- 43:32Speaker 1: have a name enough. But now that i'm violing and
- 43:34Speaker 1: I'm I'm on the show and I'm the nip. You
- 43:37Speaker 1: got a little money in my doing the stand up.

- 43:51Speaker 1: praying phone call right after this. You're listening Steve Harvey
- 43:56Speaker 1: Morning Show. All right, coming up at the top of
- 43:59Speaker 1: the hour, right about four minutes after. Get ready for
- 44:02Speaker 1: today's Strawberry letter. But right now it is the Nephew's
- 44:05Speaker 1: turn yet again with the prank phone called come on,
- 44:08Speaker 1: tell me all right, here it is, y'all. Your baby
- 44:11Speaker 1: got my baby name? Baby got what your baby got
- 44:16Speaker 1: my baby name? So's wrong? Lasting? Hello? Hello, I'm trying
- 44:28Speaker 1: to reach a patrician, Patricia. Who is it? How you doing? Listen? Um?
- 44:34Speaker 1: My name is Floyd, Floyd. I want to give you
- 44:36Speaker 1: a call. Your your daughter, she all teens middle school? Right?
- 44:40Speaker 1: What's your name again? Floyd? Okay? What can I just
- 44:43Speaker 1: fight you? Well, like I said, your your daughter she
- 44:46Speaker 1: goes she do go to middle school, right, yeah, okay,
- 44:49Speaker 1: Now her name her name is Dereka. Why you need
- 44:52Speaker 1: to know that? Okay, Well, it's something wrong. It's something no, no, no, no,
- 44:56Speaker 1: nothing wrong. I mean I don't mean the alarm, You're
- 44:58Speaker 1: nothing like that. But let me see what Well, here's
- 45:03Speaker 1: the situation. My daughter actually goes to middle school along
- 45:08Speaker 1: along with with your daughter. Okay, and and it's it's
- 45:12Speaker 1: a bit of a problem that that that has arisen
- 45:14Speaker 1: that me and my wife just found out about some issues.
- 45:18Speaker 1: Derek and your baby in in some kind of like
- 45:21Speaker 1: trouble or something. No no, no, no, no, nothing like that.
- 45:25Speaker 1: But with nobody at that school. She don't mess with nobody.
- 45:29Speaker 1: She owned the honor roll and everything. I don't have
- 45:31Speaker 1: no problems out of Dereka, right, okay, I'll let me know.
- 45:37Speaker 1: Let me tell you, miss miss Patricia, what the problem is. See,
- 45:40Speaker 1: my daughter name is Dereka. Okay, so, and and it
- 45:45Speaker 1: just blew me and my wife away that it was
- 45:47Speaker 1: another Dereca that went to the school. Okay, all right,
- 45:52Speaker 1: I don't know too many Derecas. That's a unique name.
- 45:54Speaker 1: That's cute, okay, right right, Well here's the problem me
- 45:59Speaker 1: and my wife. Actually, you know, when it was time
- 46:01Speaker 1: to name my child, we thought we was really picking
- 46:03Speaker 1: a name that nobody would ever pick out for their daughter.
- 46:07Speaker 1: And to have another Dereca in the school that blew
- 46:10Speaker 1: us away. And I guess the real reason why I'm
- 46:13Speaker 1: trying to call you, miss Patricians. See if if if
- 46:16Speaker 1: there's something maybe we can work out, you know, maybe
- 46:19Speaker 1: uh like your Dereka does middle name or nickname she
- 46:24Speaker 1: can be called by interpposed to both of them being Dereca.
- 46:28Speaker 1: You really wanted I try to be the only one
- 46:31Speaker 1: with this name. Okay, wait wait, wait, wait, now you
- 46:34Speaker 1: calling me and you asking me to change my baby's name. Well,
- 46:38Speaker 1: I mean you ain't really got to legally change I mean,
- 46:40Speaker 1: we just start calling us something else, you know. No, No,
- 46:43Speaker 1: wait a minute, so what you naming police or something?
- 46:47Speaker 1: Do you know how many and and Louis and Patricia's
- 46:50Speaker 1: out there? What if I asked everybody in the United
- 46:53Speaker 1: States to change their name from Patricia? You know how
- 46:56Speaker 1: crazy that is? And I understand that you must be
- 46:59Speaker 1: all drugs. What I'm trying to say is, you know this,
- 47:02Speaker 1: this is something that we really have. Our baby girl
- 47:04Speaker 1: was this name and we didn't want nobody else to
- 47:06Speaker 1: have this. So does your Derek gral Of a middle
- 47:09Speaker 1: name she can use? No, we're gonna call her Dereka
- 47:12Speaker 1: like we've been calling your name, your baby d D.
- 47:14Speaker 1: Let's call your baby d D. Did you change y'all?
- 47:17Speaker 1: Y'all change y'all baby name at the school? I'm not
- 47:19Speaker 1: calling I'm not calling my name. I don't give you
- 47:22Speaker 1: what you call it, but I'm not changing my baby name. Hey, listen, okay, Look,
- 47:26Speaker 1: I'm trying to call you and handle us like adults,
- 47:29Speaker 1: you know, but you've seen to see you're gonna push
- 47:31Speaker 1: my buddy to take me to another level. Obviously, you
- 47:33Speaker 1: ain't calling me trying to handle us. He does ask
- 47:35Speaker 1: me to change my baby name. Call my baby something
- 47:38Speaker 1: else at the school, because y'all want your baby name
- 47:40Speaker 1: to be Derek and the only Dereka in the school.
- 47:42Speaker 1: Hey you, how many other kids at the damn school
- 47:44Speaker 1: got the same name. I understand that, but from my
- 47:48Speaker 1: baby girl, it ain't schools to be like that. I'm sorry.
- 47:52Speaker 1: I'm so up to that baby girl and your wife,
- 47:54Speaker 1: but you know I'm not changing my baby damn name.
- 47:57Speaker 1: Y'all call her your baby du No. I'm trying to
- 48:00Speaker 1: do is get it rectified that we can call you.
- 48:03Speaker 1: Get my phone number. I know that school ain't good.
- 48:06Speaker 1: You my number. I got your number. Don't worry about
- 48:09Speaker 1: how I got it. The problem is that what we're
- 48:10Speaker 1: talking about right now. If we can, what can we
- 48:13Speaker 1: start calling your child? Don't gibber, I know that school
- 48:16Speaker 1: ain't called your number. Listen, man, All I'm trying to
- 48:20Speaker 1: do is think out what can we start calling your daughter?
- 48:23Speaker 1: Don't cut less she's been doing. Call you and your
- 48:26Speaker 1: wife down. Need to go to out the statistics office
- 48:29Speaker 1: and get all there of the name. I kind you
- 48:31Speaker 1: have to stum out the kind of name beha, but
- 48:34Speaker 1: my day keep the same day name. Let's explain something
- 48:37Speaker 1: of you. I've been trying to be calm with you
- 48:39Speaker 1: even now show. But if you are, find something else
- 48:42Speaker 1: to call on, and I'm gonna go. I'm gonna get
- 48:43Speaker 1: an all that kids number. How do you get number?
- 48:47Speaker 1: Don't worry about how I got the number. Listen to
- 48:49Speaker 1: what I'm trying to tell you. If you don't find
- 48:51Speaker 1: another name, I'm gonna start getting the kids to call
- 48:54Speaker 1: your daughter something else. You're just in to call my
- 48:56Speaker 1: daddy sudden. Yes, I try to side with an everybody
- 49:00Speaker 1: who called my baby stop. Next, you're going to change
- 49:02Speaker 1: your baby names. I want my baby name to beat
- 49:05Speaker 1: the Derek. N't give him extreme. My princess is supposed
- 49:11Speaker 1: to be the only one named Dereka had a chain
- 49:14Speaker 1: cars your baby stopping else at the school. I'm going
- 49:17Speaker 1: out of these kids starting tomorrow at school calling your daughter.
- 49:21Speaker 1: I'm gonna else. I'm not I'm standing. I'm gonna sign
- 49:23Speaker 1: with you like this number. Hang up off my phone

- 51:57Speaker 1: the Strawberry Letter. Subject it is over before you know it.
- 52:02Speaker 1: Here Stephen Shirley, I'm a twenty nine year old married woman.
- 52:06Speaker 1: My husband and I have been married for almost three years.
- 52:10Speaker 1: We met at work, and we fell for each other
- 52:12Speaker 1: rather quickly. We also began to have sex early on
- 52:15Speaker 1: in our relationship. At first, the sex was okay. It
- 52:19Speaker 1: was what I needed then, But as time went on,
- 52:22Speaker 1: our encounters started to be a problem because he could
- 52:26Speaker 1: not last long at all. He was getting all of
- 52:29Speaker 1: the pleasure and I wasn't getting any Well, we eventually
- 52:34Speaker 1: got married. I married him because I loved him and
- 52:38Speaker 1: I saw a future with him. But I definitely underestimated
- 52:42Speaker 1: the importance of good sex in a relationship. I find
- 52:45Speaker 1: myself fantasizing, watching porn and daydreaming about other men. I
- 52:49Speaker 1: realized in theory that sex isn't everything, but gosh darnet,
- 52:53Speaker 1: I need some good quality stuff, and I need it quick.
- 52:57Speaker 1: I don't know how long I can be in this marriage.
- 53:00Speaker 1: I have talked to him about it, and he doesn't
- 53:02Speaker 1: see this as a problem. What's a girl to do?
- 53:05Speaker 1: Please help? Well? Two lines that I never thought that
- 53:09Speaker 1: would be together was well. We eventually got married. After
- 53:14Speaker 1: you know, you talked about your encounters. Your sexual encounter
- 53:18Speaker 1: started to be your problem because he couldn't last that long.
- 53:21Speaker 1: But you know, you eventually married him anyway, So you
- 53:25Speaker 1: said you married him because you loved him and you
- 53:27Speaker 1: saw a future with him, but you definitely underestimated how
- 53:31Speaker 1: important sex wasn't a marriage, And yeah, you're right, sex
- 53:34Speaker 1: is very important in a marriage. It is. I don't know,
- 53:39Speaker 1: have you guys gone to the doctor. Is it a
- 53:41Speaker 1: medical issue? Perhaps he needs to, um, you know, see
- 53:45Speaker 1: a doctor about it. You've talked to him and he
- 53:46Speaker 1: doesn't think it's such a big deal, but to you
- 53:49Speaker 1: it is a big deal. And you're his wife and
- 53:51Speaker 1: he should think what's important to you should be important
- 53:54Speaker 1: to him. Go first, you can she go fast? Oh,
- 54:01Speaker 1: this is on her, you know the pace, Get with
- 54:04Speaker 1: it anyway. I'm just sorry, though. I think watching porn
- 54:10Speaker 1: and things like that, I think it can make it
- 54:12Speaker 1: worse because you know you're gonna once you're already inadequate
- 54:16Speaker 1: husband to do what you to do to you what
- 54:18Speaker 1: you see him those people do on the screen. So
- 54:21Speaker 1: I don't think that's necessarily a way to cure this.
- 54:24Speaker 1: I if I were you, I would say, you guys
- 54:26Speaker 1: need to go and check it out, and perhaps it
- 54:29Speaker 1: is a medical condition. Steve, you naked dog? Come on, well, lady,
- 54:39Speaker 1: you twenty nine, You got a lot of living in
- 54:44Speaker 1: front of you. Living like you've been living for three years,
- 54:51Speaker 1: just don't sound like much of a life. You got coming.
- 54:55Speaker 1: I'm gonna just going and paint a picture real dog
- 54:57Speaker 1: for you. Ain't no sunny s eye to this, damn it.
- 55:02Speaker 1: It's raining. It ain't partly cloudy. It's rained fully cloudy, Danny.
- 55:12Speaker 1: And it ain't raining on nobody but you, so black
- 55:15Speaker 1: cloud following you here where you go. You can't get
- 55:20Speaker 1: nothing from him. We all we began. You met at work.
- 55:25Speaker 1: You're fell in love rather quickly. He's a nice guy,
- 55:27Speaker 1: great guy. But we also began having sex early in
- 55:31Speaker 1: our relationship. That what she mean in first week, that
- 55:36Speaker 1: she meant at first and sex was okay, it was
- 55:40Speaker 1: just all right. It never mars never was You never
- 55:45Speaker 1: heard bells and saw skyrockets it. You ain't never tear
- 55:49Speaker 1: it up and cried. You ain't never been in the
- 55:52Speaker 1: corner sucking your thumb. You ain't ever been shaking and
- 55:56Speaker 1: just sitting up in the teeth chatter. You ain't knock
- 55:59Speaker 1: nothing of the knight stand. You ain't broke the head boy.
- 56:02Speaker 1: You ain't been into the pillar. You ain't told the
- 56:04Speaker 1: folk corners up off the sheet. You ain't been into
- 56:06Speaker 1: your knuckles and realize you was bleeding. You ain't none
- 56:10Speaker 1: none of that happened and realize you would bleeding this
- 56:17Speaker 1: when this boy up here working. You ain't had none
- 56:22Speaker 1: of that because it was just okay. But at the
- 56:28Speaker 1: time when on that encounter started to be a problem
- 56:30Speaker 1: because he could not last long at all. And the
- 56:32Speaker 1: first of all, let me pay you a compliment. Sometimes
- 56:35Speaker 1: when a man can't last long, let's just be honest,
- 56:39Speaker 1: it's just that. Damn. Oh, it's so good that. Lord heavens,
- 56:45Speaker 1: I want to work, but I'm getting worked. The more
- 56:52Speaker 1: work I try to put in, the more work get
- 56:54Speaker 1: put on me. So that's what Now. The only solution
- 56:59Speaker 1: to this is married ladies. If you're having trouble or
- 57:01Speaker 1: you're dating a man that doesn't have staying power, and
- 57:06Speaker 1: you if if you, if you, after your point in
- 57:09Speaker 1: relationship where you are not using protected sex, ask him
- 57:13Speaker 1: to wear a condom that would give him another five
- 57:18Speaker 1: minute Hello, that would give him another five minutes, Yeah,
- 57:24Speaker 1: could be ten, could be much longer. Every minute counts, yeah,
- 57:28Speaker 1: but it released could get you where you needed to be.
- 57:31Speaker 1: Just ask him to wear a con that will help him. Now,
- 57:38Speaker 1: you needed to know that in ten seconds left, where
- 57:42Speaker 1: you're gonna go to break and we come back it's
- 57:45Speaker 1: gonna get dog for you. All right, we'll be back
- 57:48Speaker 1: in twenty three after you're listening to Steve, come on
- 57:54Speaker 1: with part two of your Response Days Strawberry letter. It's
- 57:58Speaker 1: over before you know it. It is a subject, all right.
- 58:01Speaker 1: Just twenty nine year old married woman got this man,
- 58:05Speaker 1: been married three years. They met it, work, fall off
- 58:07Speaker 1: each other, quickly started having sex almost immediately. Sex even
- 58:11Speaker 1: from the beginning was okay, but now it's developed into
- 58:13Speaker 1: a problem. Homeboard can't last. Thank you they having breathing.
- 58:35Speaker 1: Thank you having breathing. Thank you? Well, you can thank
- 58:48Speaker 1: the Lord if you want to. I have nothing to
- 58:51Speaker 1: be grateful for at this point, because you're too fast
- 58:54Speaker 1: now my suggesting you are. No he is. Just have him,
- 58:59Speaker 1: ask him to wear a condom. That should give you
- 59:01Speaker 1: a little bit more time. She goes on to say,
- 59:04Speaker 1: married him because I love him and I saw a
- 59:06Speaker 1: future with him. But I definitely underestimated the porting of
- 59:09Speaker 1: good sex and relationship. I find myself fantasizing watching poem
- 59:13Speaker 1: and daydreaming about other men. And we're gonna get back
- 59:15Speaker 1: to that. I realized in theory that sex isn't everything,
- 59:21Speaker 1: but gosh, done it. No sex is everything as Come
- 59:26Speaker 1: on and talk to me. It's nothing. Your cars and
- 59:31Speaker 1: houses ain't good as that. I got nice cars, None
- 59:38Speaker 1: of them good is nice? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're right.
- 59:42Speaker 1: You're right, you know because I get in my cars
- 59:44Speaker 1: on none of my cars. Maybe me go put now
- 59:48Speaker 1: one of them. I'm with you when you're right now
- 59:51Speaker 1: one of them, and I'd have said in it for hours,
- 59:54Speaker 1: not one, not one car made heverything. You just don't
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: do it when you close the door, and don't when
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: you close the door, and sitting and leave seats and don't.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: How about this room that don't get it? Let me
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: hear one more time. If we have breathing, Thank you
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: now listen to me. Now, let's go back. I find
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: myself fantasizing and watching pawn and daydreaming about other men.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: Listen to me. You got to stop watching that poem
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: because your husband is not poorn star material. He ain't
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: long gone, he ain't thunderbolt, he ain't master built, he
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: ain't matted truck barbe, he ain't ding dung hung like
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: com something else. Yeah, he ain't woo Lord, good God
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: a mighty But you're gonna do it all that? Yeah,
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: you know you're crazy. Ain't no stripper name too much? Lord, Yeah,
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: you ain't none of that. So now you're watching pawn
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: and you got to get back over here with half broke,
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: with what half broke? Little man? Shot speedy gunzan quick
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: drama draw, Yeah, mighty mouse, you're over here with all
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: these shot little references. You got to deal with minute race. Yeah,
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: you over here, Uncle Ben Rice a Roni. You don't
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: hear rhymen, noodles, minute grits. Yeah, you only hear Michael Wayne.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: You're over here with him. Now you're watching Point, big
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: boy come out just swinging. He just up in here,
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: just swinging, and then you go back to him. So
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: you've got to stop watching Point and now you're fantasizing
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: about other men. So what is the answer this? I
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: want to talk to him about it, and he doesn't
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: see it as a problem. I have tried talking to
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: him and he don't see it. Now because he's getting here,
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: what's a girl to do? Please help, He's gonna have
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: to get it. And that's a damn ship. Yeah you
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: don't get it, somebody else will. But how he do?
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: Walk with me? Thank you? And she's sitting there with
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: her arms as a person on the radio. I want
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: to help you out, but I can't. What do you mean?
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: I mean? I want to offer a solution I just
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: don't have. Yeah, I mean me and time to send
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: people money and stuff like that over the years. Help
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: come tell you. I mean, you know, we helped as
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: much as we could. I mean, if that don't work,
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: you gotta get you somebody else. She ain't be twenty
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: nine years or what's she gonna do? She's gonna stay
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: with him? Yeah, she can start with herself, or she
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: can go down to the stove, excuse me, and get
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: something with some batteries on it. Yeah, okay, we gotta come.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: They got some stuff down there. You have seen in
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: that poor look at it? Turned out some stuff. I
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: don't know how to hear you use that power. Try.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: I saw a girl one time with a bat I
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: said with love. I couldn't followed that. No, that's the
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: that's the head lighted up that use gasoline accord on it. WHOA,
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: but you got a law more pot on? All right, Steve,
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: we gotta go email us your Instagram. That's your thoughts
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: on today's Strawberry letter at my girl Shirley you're listening
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: show me too hard. She's the queen and she will
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: forever have an impact on my soul. I know millions
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: of people haven't heard her music, and she's gonna forever
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: be remembered. And I loved her dignity and all she
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: did and her love of God made her who she is.
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: When she sang, you had to feel it in fire,
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: your heart and soul because she was very uplifting. Her
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: music brought joy to everybody. Her music was absolutely inspirational.
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: She was there all in arm with Mark Luther King
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: and when she did respect, that went a long way. Hey,
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: today on the Steve Harvey Morning Show, we're gonna honor
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: the life, the legacy and the music of my friend
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: one and only when you know soul, can you just
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: tell us? We know that you all had a special bond,
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: So Steve, tell us about the time one of the
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: times you met Aretha um the NABA. I think it
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: was nationally it ABJ Nial Association Black Journalists. Yeah, I
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: think she was performing at one of the events and
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: uh we were back still. It was sort of funny
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: because Aretha needed when she performed. She liked the ad
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: to b off Oh yeah, want that all. Yeah, and uh,
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: it was already a little warm in in Ajah. The
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: black journalist was already hot. Riva came in there and said,
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: cut whatever air. They cut that air off, bought them
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: sisters in that half start reacting and makeup. They was
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: looking good though. Them sisters were strong. They held it together.
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: They came out there in saying because this rebe she left.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: You have seen the black people trying to cut that
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: ale because there was real respectful wreathing queen man. Soon
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: as wreath got through saying saying her tail off to Lord,
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: her mercyment, this woman's voice man. And as soon as
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: she got through, then people trying to cut that man.
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: But she was always kind to me. She always said
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: she was very beautiful stuff to me. I just love you, Steve.
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: You're just doing so much ooh. I watch you on
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: that show Family Feud. I'd be sitting up laughing. You know.
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: I just remember stuff like that. I like talking about
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: people in positive ways, you know, of course, because you
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: know what I mean. Look, we're all gonna leave him
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: some sooner, some later, but we're all pulling up out
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: of him. And I just think about my terms and
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: my life in terms of my longevity, man, and I
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: didn't had more time than I got left. That's for sure.
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: I'm not gonna live another sixty years. I'm not gonna
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: be a hundred and twenty. All right, we'll have more

- 1:10:35Speaker 1: a hundred dollars were Yeah, you and that damn robot
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: playing with each other. I had real friends, I had
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: real people I had to play with. You got a

- 1:11:42Speaker 1: got to do is sit up here and imagine an ash.
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: All right, more of this crazy ignorant show. Steve Harvey
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: Morning Show. Right after this, you're listening Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: I want to ask you guys this, what is the
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: one OCD thing you do every single day? We all
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: have our OCD moments, you know we do. But what's
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: the one thing you never miss even if it's the
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: silliest little thing. Uh, you know, you gotta touch something,
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: you gotta taste something, smells something, or hoard something every
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: day or you don't feel right? What's yours? Jay? I
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: bite my lip. It looks like I'm geeking. It looks
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: like I'm on something. But I'm like, people look at
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: me like, what is What's wrong with him? Why is
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: he doing that? I'm a lip fighter? Okay, what about
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: your junior? I have to put things in the middle.
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: It can't in the middle. Yeah, he does yeah stuff
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: all time. Y'a don't even notice it. But I moved
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: stuff all the time. It just said it didn't look
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: when we were working together. I never wanted in my
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: office because in the middle gold be in your own
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: damn like my phone has to see it right in
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: front of me. What about you, nephew, y'all gonna think
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: I'm Craig. I can't. No, no, we would never ask
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: I can't. I can't go to the bathroom without taking
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: a shower afterwards. I have to, okay, have to Okay,
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: this is some things, a lot of information. I'm just
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: work though home. So you had the studio, you go
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: all the way at home. I'm not going. I'm not
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: going bathroom at work. That's a lot of scrub aday work.
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: We'll be back to ignorant right after this. You're listening,
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: all right, Steve, it is time for asked Steve. Here's
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: a question from a listener. It says, Steve, I've been
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: dating a guy for six months and we are both
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: very involved in our church. Now. When we first met,
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: I told him that I was practicing celibacy and he
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: was okay with it. Now he is ready to have
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: sex and I'm not. My friends tell me I'm stupid
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: and I'm going to lose a good man. Am I
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: really being stupid, Steve, Well, you're not being stupid, of
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: course not. Those are your values and morals, and you
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: make decisions for your life what you think is the best.
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: The majority of your friends is calling you stupid. Are
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: they in a committed relationship? Are they married? You know?
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: How do they know what's right for you and what
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: you decide to do as the right thing? That you
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: and this dude go to the same church and you
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: both agreed. But now let's just have a real conversation here.
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: It is easier to say you're going to wait for
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: marriage than it actually is to wait for marriage. Yes,
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: it is, especially if you're dating on a regular basis. Yes, yes,
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: and especially if you've had sex befoul. Yes. Hard to
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: say no to that. What are we waiting? It ain't
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: good when we get to Yeah, yeah, no, no it's not.
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: I'm sorry y'all to stay out there. I'm just telling you,
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: the young lady, that it is hard to do that.
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: It is that it is, And the guy who said
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: he could do it, he threw. He threw. Now, And
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: I'm not mad at the guy for wanting you, because
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: that's that's the human nature of it. So you wouldn't
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: even need to sit down and constantly have talks. Now,
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: I've heard other people say, you know, there are other
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: things y'all could do, and I don't know what that is.
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: But wait, what, Steve, what did you just say? I said,
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: I've heard people say that other things y'all can do.
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: I don't know what that is. You didn't hear that
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: from Steve? That won't lead to having sex. I'm kind
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: of way. I just said, I have heard people say
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: that other things that two people can do instead of
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: having sex. Now, based on the sex that I've had,
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: I can think of no replacement. All right, coming up,
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: last break of the day on this Friday. It's been
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: a good day, it's been a good week. We'll be
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: back with Steve and his closing remarks right after this
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: at forty nine, after the hour. You're listening me too hard.
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: She's the Queen and she will forever have an impact
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: on my soul. I know millions of people haven't heard
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: her music, and she's gonna forever be remembered and nobody.
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: I loved her dignity and all she did and her
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: love of God made her who she is. When she sang,
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: you had to feel it in fire your heart and
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: soul because she was very uplifting. Her music brought joy
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: to everybody. Her music was absolutely inspiration. She was there
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: all in with Mark Luther King and when she did respect,
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: that went a long way. Well, Steve, we've called upon
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: the world and the Steve Harvey Nation, and now we
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: have a special guest. She is Detroit and Philly radio
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: legend Missus. Frankie Darcel, Good morning, Steve, Carla Shirley Temmy,
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: Good morning, Junior. Um. Like Steve, Wow, we were just
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: talking about Aretha the other day, and you know, I
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: found it interesting across my mind when you said the
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: other day that God's will will be done. What a
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: legacy we're all gonna make our transition, Steve. You know,
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: we've got a birthday and a death date and in
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: that middle there there is that dash. What a life
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: to rehash of Aretha Franklin. She could have lived anywhere
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: on the globe, and she chose to continue to live
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: here in the city of Detroit. And of course our
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: hearts are heavy. We pray for her family, and nothing
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: like losing a parent, and to lose you know, your mom,
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: So we pray for her children and her family and
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: extended family. She is the Queen of soul. But Steve,
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: you know I would share with you as well that
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: not only was she the Queen of soul, but the
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: work that her father, Cel Franklin did on behalf of
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: not only the citizens of the City of Truth, Detroit,
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: but around the world and working with doctor King and others.
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: She too was a part of that civil rights movement.
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: Now that we think about her life to rehash, we
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: think about who A. Wretha Franklin really was not only
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: the Queen of soul. And I said the other day,
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: she's the Queen of Soul to the world, but she's
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: also family to us. You know, she will be missed,
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: but she has left just a huge example of what
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: our young artists should be, how they could tap into
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: her greatness and of course her her legacy that she
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: leaves here in the city of Detroit. And you know what, Steve,
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: thank you as well. Everybody's talking about her passing, but
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: just the way that you're doing what you're doing and
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: celebrating her life, her loves and her legacy, so you know,
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: on behalf of the city. You know, we just thank
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: you for telling the world what they already knew, but
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: reminding them this morning, r Ip, Queen of Soul, this
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: is a farewell. Missy Elliott said something really smart. She
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: was after she sent her prayers up. She said, refer
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: back to my text, and Missy Elliott had text that
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: we've got to take time out to honor these legends
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: while they live in soul. To the Queen of Soul,
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: who was such a fan of mine and I a
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: fan of hers, and you know we've talked many times.
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: And in case you're young and millennial, I don't care,
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: I don't care who you are. You should know who
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: would Franklin should So just let me help you understand.
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: Treasure see a national treasure. She is the Queen of Soul, Yes, sir,
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: just like James Brown was the Godfather of Soul. This
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: the Queen of Soul. But do you understand that if
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: it was no Aretha Franklin, that would be no Mary J. Blige,
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: That there would be no Anita Baker, that that would
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: be no Huitney. Do you know that there would be
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: no er Kaba Due, there would be no Jail Scott,
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: that would be no Vivian Green, that would be no Beyonce,
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: that would be no Layla half Away. That would be
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: no Yolanda Adams. That would not be no Kimberrell. That
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: would be no Shaka Khan. I can go down the list.
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: That would be no emotions. I'm telling you, and all
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: these girls I'm naming to you can't say. And you
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: know where they got it from from the Queen of soul.
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: Her daddy was all that up in Detroit. Now listen
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: to me. There are other icons in this world still living.
