- 2:03Speaker 1: come onrding everybody you're listening to the voice, come on
- 2:07Speaker 1: dig me now, one and only. Steve Harvey got a
- 2:11Speaker 1: radio show? Man. I love it when I run up
- 2:15Speaker 1: into people and they say that to me. They say, hey,
- 2:17Speaker 1: Steve Harvey got a radio show. Then they wink at me.
- 2:20Speaker 1: I know they're listening. You know, I got a lot
- 2:22Speaker 1: off my chest yesterday. I wanted to clear some things up.
- 2:25Speaker 1: And I appreciate y'all giving me a minute, because sometimes
- 2:28Speaker 1: you know, you just gotta say some things out loud.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Not complaining, but hey, just verbalizing, but realizing that I
- 2:36Speaker 1: gotta keep going anyway. And that's for my words this
- 2:39Speaker 1: morning to you that I want you to keep pushing
- 2:45Speaker 1: no matter what happens. I want to share something with
- 2:49Speaker 1: you that's important, that's very very important. See, you have
- 2:55Speaker 1: to give God something to bless you know, if your
- 3:01Speaker 1: prayer is asking for God's blessings, you gotta give him
- 3:05Speaker 1: something to work with. Now, you know, you you you
- 3:10Speaker 1: gotta show the spirit of appreciation or gratitude. You gotta
- 3:16Speaker 1: let him know that you're in it for the long haul.
- 3:20Speaker 1: No matter what happens. Don't turn around, don't go back.
- 3:27Speaker 1: You will never ever see what the end could be
- 3:32Speaker 1: if you turn around and go back, You'll never know
- 3:36Speaker 1: what the end could have been had you stuck it out.
- 3:40Speaker 1: You'll never know how good it could have gotten had
- 3:46Speaker 1: you not just weathered the storm. That's the thing that
- 3:51Speaker 1: gets most people. They get tough for him, It get
- 3:57Speaker 1: hard for him, and then they let doubts set in,
- 3:59Speaker 1: and then those doubts become facts and the next thing
- 4:03Speaker 1: you know, they give up. Ever cross your mind, had
- 4:08Speaker 1: you not given up, or had you given your best,
- 4:11Speaker 1: what the results of outcome could have been. I look
- 4:15Speaker 1: back on my life on so many occasions where in
- 4:19Speaker 1: college I wasn't giving my best. I flunked out. Now
- 4:26Speaker 1: it's easy to look at my life nine go yeah,
- 4:29Speaker 1: but look at you now. But back then, man, it
- 4:32Speaker 1: cost me for so many years that failing to finish,
- 4:39Speaker 1: that not giving my all, it cost me a number
- 4:44Speaker 1: of years. I wish I could say that it didn't
- 4:48Speaker 1: mean nothing, that it was just a blimp on the
- 4:50Speaker 1: radar scre screen. But at the time it was major.
- 4:54Speaker 1: And so you have a lot of decisions in your
- 4:56Speaker 1: life that are happening now. You may be in your twenties,
- 5:00Speaker 1: your late teens, you could be in your early thirties,
- 5:02Speaker 1: and it's happening. But guess what you'll eventually get through
- 5:07Speaker 1: it provided one thing, you never give up. You never
- 5:12Speaker 1: turn around and go back. Had I written myself off
- 5:16Speaker 1: because of one failure? See, and this is where so
- 5:20Speaker 1: many people go but go wrong at two. You write
- 5:22Speaker 1: yourself off after you failed at something, the one thing
- 5:27Speaker 1: you thought you wanted to accomplish, and you failed at it.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Now you write yourself as as a failure. Now you
- 5:33Speaker 1: go settle on, end to life and just see what
- 5:36Speaker 1: See what hand you get had when I flunked out
- 5:40Speaker 1: of college, had I written myself off as a failure?
- 5:43Speaker 1: I wouldn't be here today. When I lost my carpet
- 5:47Speaker 1: cleaning company, I would have written myself as a failure
- 5:50Speaker 1: and I wouldn't be here today. When I didn't become
- 5:53Speaker 1: a diamond distributed in am Way or a direct distributed
- 5:57Speaker 1: in am Way, even I would have written myself as
- 6:00Speaker 1: a as a failure and I wouldn't be here today.
- 6:05Speaker 1: When I bought a distribution kit to become a distributor
- 6:08Speaker 1: of of the Bohemian Diet and I didn't make it,
- 6:14Speaker 1: I would have ridden myself as a failure. When I
- 6:16Speaker 1: became an Hero Williams distributor and I didn't make it,
- 6:19Speaker 1: I would have written myself as a failure and I
- 6:21Speaker 1: wouldn't be here today. Oh, I gotta list for you.
- 6:26Speaker 1: When I got laid off in for a motor company
- 6:29Speaker 1: and I ridden myself as a failure, I wouldn't have
- 6:31Speaker 1: made it. Do do you need some more? Because I
- 6:39Speaker 1: have a story, feel with mishaps. I have a story
- 6:45Speaker 1: filled with failures. A couple of things now, the grace
- 6:50Speaker 1: of God and his mercy which is available to us all.
- 6:54Speaker 1: See that's the key, y'all. Because of his mercy, because
- 6:59Speaker 1: of his willing this to forgive and to even understand
- 7:05Speaker 1: why we do the things we do. In all of
- 7:09Speaker 1: my shortcomings, failed marriages I'm talking about, man got it
- 7:15Speaker 1: all wrong. I can't blame nobody else, It's just me.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Steve ain't have it together at that point in life.
- 7:24Speaker 1: I could have ridden myself as a failure the first time.
- 7:28Speaker 1: I could have. I just could have gave up on
- 7:31Speaker 1: it after the second one. And and the police know
- 7:34Speaker 1: that this is an admission. This ain't bragging. So before
- 7:37Speaker 1: you start in with me, understand what I'm saying. I'm
- 7:40Speaker 1: pointing out in my life a series of missteps and failures.
- 7:48Speaker 1: But how I still get here today a couple of things.
- 7:54Speaker 1: God's grace and mercy is first. But that's the key,
- 7:59Speaker 1: that's for every body see if it's God's willingness to
- 8:03Speaker 1: forgive you and God's understanding of why we do what
- 8:08Speaker 1: we do because He said we wasn't gonna be perfect.
- 8:12Speaker 1: So in all of your imperfections, your creator told you
- 8:16Speaker 1: you would not be perfect. He's said it to you.
- 8:19Speaker 1: It's out there. I don't care which one of the
- 8:22Speaker 1: books you read, it tells you that. So guess what.
- 8:27Speaker 1: With that in mind, he has a grace that he has.
- 8:32Speaker 1: It's like a grace period. It's like when you don't
- 8:34Speaker 1: pay your insurance premium on the day that is due.
- 8:37Speaker 1: The next day, they don't just cancel your insurance premium.
- 8:41Speaker 1: They have a grace period because they ain't trying to
- 8:45Speaker 1: stop this money from coming in. But when it comes
- 8:48Speaker 1: to God, there's no money required. He just gives you
- 8:52Speaker 1: the grace freely. It don't cost you nothing. So you
- 8:56Speaker 1: got tap into that, y'all. You gotta get in touch
- 8:58Speaker 1: with that, because that's an important part to making it.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Understanding that his grace is available. So when you make
- 9:05Speaker 1: a mistake, So when you fail at it, he has
- 9:09Speaker 1: a loophole in the contract with him that allows you
- 9:13Speaker 1: to make mistakes, that allows you to get it wrong,
- 9:16Speaker 1: that allows you to fail time and time and time again.
- 9:20Speaker 1: But if you never give up, if you keep getting up,
- 9:24Speaker 1: if you keep trying, if you keep striving, if you
- 9:27Speaker 1: keep making the effort to go forward and not go back,
- 9:31Speaker 1: God has a blessing for you, and He has it
- 9:35Speaker 1: in abundance for you, and God will give it to
- 9:38Speaker 1: you at the right time. But you got to be ready. Oh,
- 9:43Speaker 1: I wanted to be successful. But if he had given
- 9:46Speaker 1: it to me back then, I wouldn't have handled it
- 9:49Speaker 1: correctly because I would have made some more mistakes along
- 9:53Speaker 1: the way. So you make the mistakes to learn the lessons.
- 9:58Speaker 1: And what I learned was every fail you that I
- 10:00Speaker 1: had was not a really a failure, It was a
- 10:04Speaker 1: valuable gained learned experience. And when you get experienced, man,
- 10:12Speaker 1: you gain knowledge, knowledge and wisdom. Next thing you know,
- 10:16Speaker 1: you ready for the next time. And then after a while,
- 10:20Speaker 1: when you failed enough times at it and you've gotten
- 10:23Speaker 1: it wrong and you've made the adjustments as to the
- 10:26Speaker 1: person you are, because everybody different, then guess what. Here
- 10:30Speaker 1: he comes. Okay, I see you get it. Now, let
- 10:32Speaker 1: me go and get you to see how you do that.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Then if you show appreciation for it, didn't he said,
- 10:37Speaker 1: all right, I'm gonna add this to your pie. Let
- 10:39Speaker 1: me see how you act with it. Okay, you sure appreciation,
- 10:42Speaker 1: help some people with it. Then he dump a little
- 10:44Speaker 1: bit more on you. Then next thing you know, it's
- 10:46Speaker 1: it's in buckets, fools. You you're just raining on you,
- 10:50Speaker 1: you're just dropping it in that. You just log main.
- 10:53Speaker 1: God been good to me. I ain't gonna lie to you.
- 10:57Speaker 1: You're listening to ladies and gentlemen. Here we are welcome

- 12:03Speaker 1: was so embarrassed. The man says, we have an excellent vodka.

- 12:40Speaker 1: these people for Teto's because they ain't got none at
- 12:46Speaker 1: the Creole Hotel, and you're talking about some damn Tetos.
- 12:49Speaker 1: They got their own kognak over here. This ain't Teto's,
- 12:55Speaker 1: the man said. She said, this ain't Tito's. The man
- 13:03Speaker 1: was just completed. You don't even know what she's talking about.
- 13:06Speaker 1: She just wanted what she wanted, Steve, Yeah, sending that picture,
- 13:12Speaker 1: sending that picture to everybody. This is what the man
- 13:14Speaker 1: tried to give up. But here she wanted Tito's. M Lord,

- 13:29Speaker 1: brought her from l A to Paris. She hasn't lived
- 13:32Speaker 1: in Mississippi in quite some years. What I got to
- 13:35Speaker 1: do with how she is looking at her? Mississippi had
- 13:41Speaker 1: a lady on the should the other day from Mississippi. Yeah,
- 13:45Speaker 1: tell tell tell her you, Matt, I forgot the lady's name.
- 13:48Speaker 1: I know Mississippi. Monica. We went to school together in Jackson. Yeah,

- 30:09Speaker 1: General Attorney Ben Crump, Civil rights Attorney Ben Crump. He's
- 30:13Speaker 1: going to update us on the senseless killing of yet
- 30:16Speaker 1: another black man. This one happened in Dallas. We'll talk
- 30:19Speaker 1: about it in about thirty minutes. Right after this you're
- 30:22Speaker 1: listening to all right, Today is the seventeenth anniversary of
- 30:29Speaker 1: nine eleven. Wow, we were at work. We were at Yeah,
- 30:36Speaker 1: we were all at work in l a uh yeah,
- 30:39Speaker 1: before the show went national all of that. Steve, I
- 30:42Speaker 1: know you remember that day. Well, um Well. In New York,
- 30:46Speaker 1: ongoing focus remains on the new One World Trade Center
- 30:49Speaker 1: in downtown Manhattan. The single skyscraper replaces the iconic twin
- 30:54Speaker 1: towers that were destroyed on December. On September eleven, two
- 30:57Speaker 1: th one, we will never forget the lives lost and
- 31:01Speaker 1: the heroes, the first responders. Ms Anne will have more
- 31:05Speaker 1: in our news report in just a few minutes, it
- 31:08Speaker 1: is time for today's entertainment news. Uh, it's never good
- 31:11Speaker 1: news when you see George Zimmerman's name in the trending topics. Okay,
- 31:15Speaker 1: I think we mentioned him earlier in the show. Steve,
- 31:18Speaker 1: the man who killed Trayvon Martin, is back in the
- 31:21Speaker 1: news for sending a series of threatening text and voicemail
- 31:24Speaker 1: messages to a private investigator hired to find people to
- 31:28Speaker 1: feature in the Jay z h docuseries Rest in Power
- 31:32Speaker 1: the Trayvon Martin story. When Zimmerman was asked to participate
- 31:36Speaker 1: via a voicemail, he responded by calling the p I
- 31:39Speaker 1: his name is Dennis Warren back fifty five times. He
- 31:43Speaker 1: called this man back fifty five times, leaving thirty six voicemails,
- 31:47Speaker 1: sixty seven text messages, and twenty seven emails over a
- 31:51Speaker 1: course of just nine days. Uh. The communications included threats
- 31:55Speaker 1: to Jay Z and Beyonce, telling Mr Warren to tell
- 31:59Speaker 1: jay Z he's a b and his wife is a
- 32:02Speaker 1: broke horror. Um, Yeah, yeah, it was horrible. It was Yeah.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Can I just ask a question, what do you got
- 32:12Speaker 1: to do to go to jail? Because they love black
- 32:13Speaker 1: people love for anything anything. Yeah, exactly exactly. I'll tell
- 32:21Speaker 1: you what though. Now you run over there with Mr
- 32:23Speaker 1: Carter if you want to m this is not it's
- 32:27Speaker 1: just not just that's not a safe song, Partner. Get
- 32:31Speaker 1: some people over there on that side of the camp
- 32:33Speaker 1: and gonna let you do that to him. Yeah, he
- 32:37Speaker 1: was not him, But there's some people standing in that
- 32:40Speaker 1: area that's not gonna do. You're not gonna big. Yeah.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Zimmerman went on to say, Steve, if I see either
- 32:47Speaker 1: of them in my life, they'll find themselves inside a
- 32:49Speaker 1: thirteen ft gator. What I mean, he can say this
- 32:57Speaker 1: and walk around free. Don't say that hearing it. He
- 33:00Speaker 1: don't even know when you start messing with Beyonce. He
- 33:03Speaker 1: don't even understand what to be hid due damn law enforcements.
- 33:09Speaker 1: You gotta hold up problems that damn be High man.
- 33:15Speaker 1: I rather have them than the police protect you, because
- 33:19Speaker 1: they don't care what the law. He is. Yeah. A
- 33:25Speaker 1: matter of fact, I'm thinking about taking out Stock. Isn't
- 33:28Speaker 1: the be High most It's the most valuable fan base
- 33:34Speaker 1: I've ever seen. As a matter of fact, I want
- 33:38Speaker 1: I want to be High to adopt me. I'm asking
- 33:42Speaker 1: to be high for your help with the national enquired
- 33:46Speaker 1: with radar online. I want to be high to help me.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Where is the dog? I'm saying. Look, this is a
- 33:56Speaker 1: direct message. Let me talk. Let me talk to my
- 33:58Speaker 1: social media right here. I'm asking to be high to
- 34:02Speaker 1: please adopt me. If you could just treat me as
- 34:06Speaker 1: Tampa good, as you treate create, as you treat Beyonce,
- 34:10Speaker 1: I'll be more than happy and go get all them
- 34:13Speaker 1: hate this that's coming after me. I won't to be
- 34:16Speaker 1: high to adopt a sixty one year old black man.
- 34:21Speaker 1: I need leadership, goddess and a family African be man.
- 34:31Speaker 1: That's what I want, all right, Steeve that it's time
- 34:35Speaker 1: to get caught up on mrs and true. Thanks everybody.
- 34:40Speaker 1: This is entered for the news. We are now at
- 34:42Speaker 1: the peak of the hurricane season, and forecasts say there
- 34:44Speaker 1: are storms approaching from the Atlantic and the Pacific. States
- 34:47Speaker 1: of emergency and evacuations declared a Virginia north to north
- 34:50Speaker 1: and South Carolina. White House spokesperson Sarah Hugby Sanders says
- 34:53Speaker 1: the President wants Americans to heat official warnings. He's tropical
- 34:56Speaker 1: storms and hurricanes are very dangerous, and we encourage anyone
- 35:00Speaker 1: in the past to heed the warnings of state and
- 35:02Speaker 1: local officials who have the expertise and knowledge of their
- 35:04Speaker 1: communities to provide the best on ground information. Looks like
- 35:08Speaker 1: the worst will be along the Southeastern coast. They're bracing
- 35:10Speaker 1: for Hurricane Florence, which is going to perhaps one of
- 35:13Speaker 1: the strongest storms to ever hit the mid Atlantic coast.
- 35:16Speaker 1: Today is September eleventh. This is a trip. It's that
- 35:21Speaker 1: time of year when we sadly reflect on an horrendous attack.
- 35:25Speaker 1: People's feelings now years later mixed very safe. I'm a
- 35:32Speaker 1: tied law enforcement and I think he is doing the
- 35:35Speaker 1: excellent jobs protecting passenger, to make sure that luve it
- 35:38Speaker 1: is good. Unfortunately, I don't feel any face where. I
- 35:41Speaker 1: still think that it's a hostile climate and anything can
- 35:45Speaker 1: happen at any time, and we can't defend ourself at
- 35:49Speaker 1: every moment, can't forget what happened. So, because that's nottain
- 35:52Speaker 1: still celebrate this consistent cloud of uncertainty that we are
- 35:56Speaker 1: now placed under. No, I don't feel safe mym the
- 36:00Speaker 1: loss of cousin. They only found the shoulder blade. I
- 36:02Speaker 1: definitely think they should continue to celebrate, but definitely, you can't.
- 36:06Speaker 1: When that day happened, they wasn't expecting to either, So
- 36:08Speaker 1: you can't say, window how the political thing that's going
- 36:12Speaker 1: on now and makes me good. And we can never
- 36:14Speaker 1: erase your pay or bring back those you lost. We
- 36:19Speaker 1: can honor their sacrifice by pledging our resolve to do
- 36:22Speaker 1: whatever we must to keep our people. I don't feel
- 36:27Speaker 1: safer because all the safety funders that President Obama put
- 36:30Speaker 1: in place is being rolled back with the current president.
- 36:33Speaker 1: I feel like that he's causing so much division, not
- 36:35Speaker 1: only in our own country, but amongst the international community too.
- 36:38Speaker 1: I definitely feel the safe, but um, no matter how
- 36:41Speaker 1: much security you get stopping people from coming in, there's
- 36:44Speaker 1: people already here. They're probably angry and could do something
- 36:47Speaker 1: at any given time. I think the president is causing
- 36:49Speaker 1: a lot of problems, and you know that's just you know,
- 36:52Speaker 1: everybody knows that because of the president's in place right now,
- 36:55Speaker 1: a lot of the work that hasn't done a thing undone.
- 36:57Speaker 1: I just feel like it's important for us uh as
- 37:00Speaker 1: you need as as people to put off trust in
- 37:01Speaker 1: our faith in God, because, like I said, some people
- 37:03Speaker 1: out of all control. They're going so much. We can do,
- 37:05Speaker 1: But we need to do what we can do while
- 37:06Speaker 1: we're here. As far as safety, I don't think we
- 37:08Speaker 1: can depend on America. I feel safe anymore. I feel like, Um,
- 37:11Speaker 1: we gotta look to each other and as well with
- 37:14Speaker 1: a higher power with you God. We need we need
- 37:16Speaker 1: to pay how much those people who are their lives?
- 37:18Speaker 1: This is okay, Steve Harvey Nation Attorney Benjamin Crump, our
- 37:23Speaker 1: special guest tell us about the Dallas police officers shooting.
- 37:26Speaker 1: That's what he's gonna do coming up on the Steve
- 37:27Speaker 1: Harvey Morning Show. You're listening Stry Show. Hey, y'all joining
- 37:33Speaker 1: us now As promised, We've got a man who has
- 37:36Speaker 1: become just a fighter for justice for the downtrodden and oppressed,
- 37:41Speaker 1: always speaking up for people who don't have quite as
- 37:45Speaker 1: big a voice. He is the president of the Black
- 37:48Speaker 1: Lawyers Association. Here's our trusted source for insight on the
- 37:52Speaker 1: tragic deaths that have been occurring within our community and today,
- 37:56Speaker 1: what's sad to say that he's back with us to
- 37:59Speaker 1: talk about another senseless death in Dallas, Texas. Botham Sham
- 38:04Speaker 1: John Please, welcome to the show. Our fred attorney Benjamin Crump. Wow, welcome,
- 38:14Speaker 1: and all for having me. Uh, Steve again, we need
- 38:18Speaker 1: your platform because this situation is just shocking on every level.
- 38:25Speaker 1: They've been killing black people in America for driving while
- 38:29Speaker 1: black while we're in our cars, for walking while black
- 38:32Speaker 1: while we're in our neighborhoods, and now in this case,
- 38:35Speaker 1: living while black when he was in his own apartment,
- 38:39Speaker 1: not breaking the law, minding his own business. Police come
- 38:42Speaker 1: through the front door, shoot him twice in the chest
- 38:44Speaker 1: and kill him, and then they take three days to
- 38:47Speaker 1: arrest the officer. Okay, so Attorney Krump tell ex exactly
- 38:52Speaker 1: what the account of the incident is. They're claiming what happened. Well,
- 38:56Speaker 1: unfortunately we don't have both of them account because he's
- 38:59Speaker 1: no longer with this. But the police officer, this Amber Geiger,
- 39:03Speaker 1: Her account is she went to the wrong apartment allegedly,
- 39:09Speaker 1: and we have a lot of witness testimony, new information
- 39:12Speaker 1: coming out from neighbors that seemed to fly in the
- 39:15Speaker 1: face of what she's trying to allege. But she says
- 39:18Speaker 1: she went to the wrong apartment, the key wouldn't work,
- 39:21Speaker 1: and she thought it was her apartment. Somehow the door
- 39:25Speaker 1: came open. We still don't know the answers to that
- 39:28Speaker 1: because she has her FEARP Amendment rights as a police officer.
- 39:34Speaker 1: They won't tell us what she's saying, but what we
- 39:37Speaker 1: do know is based on her account, she believed her apartment, uh,
- 39:44Speaker 1: some intruder was in the apartment, and so she shot
- 39:46Speaker 1: and killed them. Now, these are the police officers who
- 39:50Speaker 1: are trained, Steve to uh decelerate uh situation, not escalated.
- 39:57Speaker 1: She's supposed to de escalate the situation. But that's not
- 40:00Speaker 1: what we had happened here. And think about this young
- 40:03Speaker 1: man who's an amazing him man. I know we thought
- 40:06Speaker 1: that world around a lot. He was a college educated,
- 40:10Speaker 1: uh young man. He was an accountant worker for Price
- 40:13Speaker 1: Waterhouse Cooper accounting firm. I mean, he was a singer
- 40:17Speaker 1: in the church. He loved to talk about, you know,
- 40:20Speaker 1: how people can pull themselves up by the bootstraps. His
- 40:24Speaker 1: mother was the secretary of the parliament back in their
- 40:28Speaker 1: island nation of St. Lucian, And he was doing everything right.
- 40:32Speaker 1: But today he is dead, I believe because that police
- 40:36Speaker 1: officer feared his black skin. Hey, Attorney Crump, hang on
- 40:39Speaker 1: one second, we'll be right back with more with more
- 40:42Speaker 1: about this case side of Dallas. We'll be right back.
- 40:44Speaker 1: You're listening. Hey, we're back. We'll continue our conversation with
- 40:51Speaker 1: attorney Benjamin Crump. Let me just comment about what you
- 40:54Speaker 1: just said. This is a trained officer, a police person
- 40:59Speaker 1: with trade, a woman who shot him. Okay, now let's
- 41:02Speaker 1: take a regular person. I come home, I live in
- 41:04Speaker 1: an apartment. I go to a door in my apartment
- 41:09Speaker 1: complex that I'm thinking is mine, but it's not. Maybe
- 41:14Speaker 1: I try to key, it don't work, nothing, I don't
- 41:16Speaker 1: know what, but somehow the door comes open. If he
- 41:21Speaker 1: opened it, if her key opened it, her key couldn't
- 41:24Speaker 1: have opened it because it wasn't right place. So this
- 41:27Speaker 1: man had to open the door for her. Now, when
- 41:31Speaker 1: he opens the door for her, whether it's her apartment
- 41:36Speaker 1: or not. But the stone cold fact is he was
- 41:40Speaker 1: in his apartment. What did he do when he opened
- 41:45Speaker 1: that door that deserves his death to make her shoot him?
- 41:53Speaker 1: And Steve, I thought you were also going to say,
- 41:57Speaker 1: if you would have done that, you would have killed them.
- 42:00Speaker 1: You would have been arrested that night. If I go
- 42:05Speaker 1: to someone's door and they opened their door and I
- 42:09Speaker 1: shoot them in their house, I know good in hell, Well,
- 42:15Speaker 1: I'm going to jail. It's not. It ain't no need
- 42:20Speaker 1: to me. What what am I fitness? Say when they
- 42:24Speaker 1: come Hey, man, hold off, I thought that was my place?
- 42:30Speaker 1: You thought? What? Sir? And Steve? Just two quick things.
- 42:34Speaker 1: Imagine the legal precedents this would have said had she
- 42:39Speaker 1: not been arrested. The fact that anybody can now say,
- 42:43Speaker 1: based on precedents in Dallas, Texas, I went to the
- 42:47Speaker 1: wrong door and I thought it was an intrudis. I
- 42:51Speaker 1: shot and killed them. The police officer in Dallas didn't
- 42:54Speaker 1: get arrested, So why are you arresting me? We can't
- 42:57Speaker 1: have that type of precedents in America. It has the
- 43:00Speaker 1: equal justice for everybody, and they can't have it both ways.
- 43:04Speaker 1: She's claiming she was off duty, but yet they're still
- 43:08Speaker 1: giving her uh special treatment because she's a police officer.
- 43:13Speaker 1: She killed him with her service revolver. There's a question
- 43:17Speaker 1: whether or not she identified herself. There are neighbors who
- 43:21Speaker 1: have accounts who totally contradict what she is saying, and
- 43:25Speaker 1: so it's gonna be interesting to see if both of them.
- 43:28Speaker 1: John gets the same process of the law. Well well okay, okay,
- 43:34Speaker 1: well okay, well the school, it's cool. Let's take that
- 43:37Speaker 1: fact that's open show. But the parting is you did
- 43:41Speaker 1: kill a man right for doing what? I know? Hey, Ben,
- 43:46Speaker 1: in this case right here, did they have some sort
- 43:49Speaker 1: of relationship the officer and Mr Botham John. The officer
- 43:55Speaker 1: has said they had no such relationship. Um, but they're
- 43:59Speaker 1: still trying to figure that out because based on some
- 44:02Speaker 1: of the things, and we're not at liberty to say
- 44:04Speaker 1: that the neighbors have said really doesn't make sense, uh,
- 44:11Speaker 1: with the things they heard occur before the shooting, and
- 44:16Speaker 1: you know this is an apartment complex. People can hear
- 44:19Speaker 1: things in apartment complex, especially at night when you know
- 44:23Speaker 1: it's a quiet hour. And with Steve with suggestions, Shirley
- 44:28Speaker 1: was very much like many sensible Americans because this is
- 44:32Speaker 1: not only shocking for the John family, this is astonishing
- 44:36Speaker 1: to sensible people when they hear this fact that he's
- 44:38Speaker 1: in his own apartment. Why isn't she arrested? And why
- 44:42Speaker 1: are the rules always different when it's a dead person
- 44:45Speaker 1: of color lying on the ground. It makes no sense,
- 44:49Speaker 1: It makes none. And I'll tell you what's really interesting
- 44:53Speaker 1: him ain't heard none from the FA say show you're

- 55:18Speaker 1: never know. Let's go hold on tight. We got it
- 55:22Speaker 1: for you here. It is the Strawberry Letter, A subject
- 55:26Speaker 1: a step mom that made need to step away. Dear
- 55:30Speaker 1: Stephen Shirley, My husband and I have been married for
- 55:32Speaker 1: eleven years. My husband has three grown children from his
- 55:36Speaker 1: previous marriage, two sons and a daughter. His sons are
- 55:40Speaker 1: happily married, but his daughter is not. My husband's ex
- 55:44Speaker 1: wife constantly intrudes in our marriage and in her daughter's marriage.
- 55:48Speaker 1: The daughter will not keep her mom out of her
- 55:50Speaker 1: business and it upsets her husband. The ex wife has
- 55:54Speaker 1: also made my husband's life miserable, but I can deal
- 55:57Speaker 1: with that. It's my stepdaughter that is the problem. I
- 56:00Speaker 1: am not welcome at any of the grandchildren's birthday parties
- 56:04Speaker 1: or family get togethers because of her. I have tried
- 56:07Speaker 1: for many years to have a relationship with my stepdaughter,
- 56:10Speaker 1: but she's not interested. I run around and buy things
- 56:13Speaker 1: for her children and help her father get gifts for
- 56:15Speaker 1: her children, and she will only thank my husband. She
- 56:19Speaker 1: has never told me thank you. She refers to our
- 56:22Speaker 1: home as her dad's house. It hurts my feelings that
- 56:25Speaker 1: she does not respect my marriage to her dad. My
- 56:28Speaker 1: husband always defends his daughter's actions and how he treats me.
- 56:32Speaker 1: He tries to make it better by making up lives
- 56:35Speaker 1: about how his daughter says to tell me hi when
- 56:37Speaker 1: they talk. Steve, how can I get my husband to
- 56:40Speaker 1: realize that his actions are just as bad as his
- 56:42Speaker 1: daughter's attitude. I'm not worried about the ex wife, but
- 56:46Speaker 1: I have to spend time with his daughter, So I
- 56:48Speaker 1: need to fix this situation. My family life is falling apart,
- 56:52Speaker 1: and I am the only one who seems to notice.
- 56:56Speaker 1: Uh what should I do? What should you do? You ask? Well,
- 57:02Speaker 1: first of all, I think you're doing way too much.
- 57:04Speaker 1: I think you should stop doing everything. Okay. Stop going
- 57:08Speaker 1: to places with them. They don't want you there anyway,
- 57:10Speaker 1: So stop going, Stop buying stuff uh for them, Stop
- 57:15Speaker 1: trying to make them like you. Stop you know, wanting
- 57:18Speaker 1: to thank you from the daughter and going and helping
- 57:21Speaker 1: you know, buy stuff and and get gifts and all
- 57:24Speaker 1: of that. And please stop letting this woman disrespect you
- 57:28Speaker 1: like this. Okay, Uh, you deserve much better. You know,
- 57:34Speaker 1: it's not about them, it's about you. And your husband
- 57:37Speaker 1: really needs to grow up here. Um, he needs to
- 57:40Speaker 1: speak up for you on your behalf. You're his wife.
- 57:43Speaker 1: You should come first. Okay, he shouldn't let anyone. I
- 57:47Speaker 1: don't care who it is. I don't care if it's
- 57:48Speaker 1: this crazy daughter that he has his meddling ex wife, anyone,
- 57:53Speaker 1: Uh come before you and treat you this way. My
- 57:56Speaker 1: husband always defends his daughter's actions and how he treats me.
- 58:00Speaker 1: Why is he defending her? Why isn't he defending you?
- 58:03Speaker 1: His wife, that's who, and you need to let him know, uh,
- 58:07Speaker 1: what is going on here? I'm your wife. He knows that,
- 58:10Speaker 1: but you haven't spoken up for yourself. You need to
- 58:12Speaker 1: let your husband know how it's going to be from
- 58:14Speaker 1: this day forward. He needs to You all need to
- 58:16Speaker 1: be a unit, present that unit to the family and
- 58:20Speaker 1: deal with it that way. Okay, maybe the daughter will
- 58:22Speaker 1: back down once she sees that the husband respects you
- 58:26Speaker 1: and sticks up for you, But you gotta stick up
- 58:28Speaker 1: for yourself to your husband first. Steve, Well, this is
- 58:32Speaker 1: a complete mess. Blended families are always difficult. I've had
- 58:38Speaker 1: my share of difficulties with it myself, especially when you're
- 58:42Speaker 1: dealing with these grown kids because they have their own
- 58:46Speaker 1: ideas of what they think should be had. I listened
- 58:50Speaker 1: to our grown kids. Marjorie, I probably wouldn't have got
- 58:55Speaker 1: married because they weren't bowling and decided, uh, since we're
- 58:59Speaker 1: just in him in them, that they don't think we
- 59:01Speaker 1: should get married. I call him a bunch of stupid
- 59:05Speaker 1: blankety blanks and walked out the room, simply because how
- 59:09Speaker 1: y'all ignorant? Asked gonna tell me something? Ain't none of
- 59:12Speaker 1: y'all got a husband, a wife, or a child. Now
- 59:16Speaker 1: you're gonna tell me how to behave So I can
- 59:19Speaker 1: understand that it's gotten way better since then, but that's
- 59:23Speaker 1: still friction every now and then. Your problem is that
- 59:27Speaker 1: the daughter has sided with the mother who is his
- 59:33Speaker 1: ex wife. She's totally taking her side. Not that's something
- 59:38Speaker 1: wrong with his ex wife, because if it wasn't, it
- 59:40Speaker 1: wouldn't be his ex wife, it would be his current wife.
- 59:45Speaker 1: My husband's ex wife constantly intrudes in our marriage and
- 59:48Speaker 1: then her daughter's marriage. Well I thought you said his
- 59:52Speaker 1: sons are happily married, but his daughter is not. Oh
- 59:54Speaker 1: that means she's married but not happ Okay, Well, see,
- 59:58Speaker 1: first of all, his ex wife doesn't know how to
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: have a successful marriage, so any information that she's intruding
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: on with her daughter's marriage. Ain't gonna be helpful to
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: his daughter her daughter because she don't know how to
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: have a healthy marriage, and spreading dissension is her way.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: So now the daughter can't stand you. Now what your
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: daughters is is. You are not welcome at any of
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: the grandchildren's birthday parties or family get togethers because of her.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: I tried for many years and have relationship with my stepdaughter,
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: but she's not interested. I run around and buy things
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: for her children and help her father get gifts for
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: her children. She would only thank her husband. She would
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: only think my husband the lady. She's never told me
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: thank you. She refers to our home as her dad's house.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: It hurts my feeling that she does not respect my
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: marriage to her dad, and you have every right to
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: be her. So what do you do? At one point,
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: it takes two to tank if the other person it
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: takes two people to take. It takes two people to
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: have a relationship. Relationship is two people. She don't want
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: the relationship. I agree with Shirley. Stop stop buying stuff
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: for the grandkids and all this. Stop shopping for your
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: husband now. If you can't get respected, she don't talk
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: to you, she don't thank you. Then see, let him
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: go buy stuff for the grandkids. Now, he caught between
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: the rock and a hard place, and we're gonna get
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: to that after the break. But he caught between the
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: rock and complay because I know what he tried to
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: He tries to make it better by making up lies
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: about the hys daughter says to tell me hi when
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: they talk. She already knows that's you know, good, Well,
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: let's said hi to me's she ain't ever said hi
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: to me, and I've been right here. But when the
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: hell she started sending a message? So you already noticed crazy.
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: But oh dude, he don't want you hurting the guy.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: I ain't bad. He don't want you to hurt. But
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: at one point time a decision has got to be made.
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: His loyalty is to you, period. But he's suffering from
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: guilt though. You gotta understand his daughter is making him
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: feel guilty over the mom's condition mental stability. Oh this man,
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: and so you gotta you gotta understand that. But I'll
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: tell you what I think you should do when we
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: come all right, Steve, so um, when we come back,
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: we'll have part two of your response to a step
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: mom that may need to step away twenty three after
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: the hour. We'll get into it right after this. You're
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: listening to show. All right, Steve, We're back with part
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: two of today's Strawberry Letter. A step mom that may
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: need to step away is the subject. Let's recap, shall we. Well?
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: You know this woman is married his husband. They've been
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: married for eleven years. He got three grown children from
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: his previous marriage, two sons and a daughter. His sons
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: are happily married, but his daughter is not. My husband's
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: ex wife constantly intrudes in our marriage and then her
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: daughter's marriage. The daughter will not keep her mom out
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: of her business, and it upsets her husband. The ex
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: wife also made my husband's life miserable. Oh I know
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: what that is right there, that ex wife trying to
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: make your husband miss Oh Lord, been there. M I
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: tightened up right there. I got tight because Lord, I
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: know what that is. Your ex wife make your life miserable.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: Why won't she go sit her tail down some damn well,
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: get your ass off the internet. Quit selling stories to
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: the inquir Okay, to stop about me all the damn time.
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: This is not about you. I have to you know,
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: remind you of that, Steve, I think now it's a
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: good place. Well, but when he said the ex wife
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: has also made my husbands like miserable, that was directed.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: You don't see Steve in that sentence. I know I do.
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: Two different people. Has nothing to do with you. Be objective, Steve.
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: First of all, I don't know what that means. We'll
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: take yourself out of it. Take yourself out of it,
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: take yourself out of it. I wasn't in it until
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: she said ex wife has also made my husband's life miserable.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: Now if that don't sound like she talked to me,
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: and I see, when God gives you a guilt, you
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: got to look at the gift for what it is
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: and appreciate. So now here's what you got to do.
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: Step away. You should step away. Ain't no need to
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: trying to be kind and keep getting rebuffed. You don't
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: have to just have a person keep spitting on you
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: in your face, stay out their face. That's all you
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: got to do. Remove yourself from all this shopping and
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: buying and trying to go to get togethers and stuff.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: You know, I don't understand they having family events and
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: and then someone calling you right now. I hear your baby,
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: I'm popular. Somebody calling me when I wish that? Yeah,
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: here you talking about I got so many blocks and stuff.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: You don't even want to stand up. Okay, back to
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: the letter, because you will get the stop of X.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: Don't ask me how I know. I just know Shirley's right.
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: I would remove myself from the situation. I'm not worried
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: about the ex wife, but I have to spend time
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: with his daughter, so I need to fix this situation.
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: But his daughter don't want to fix the situation. Have
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: you ever just said, hey, listen, I love your father.
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: Your father loves me. I have nothing to do with
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: your father's break up. I'm tired of being blamed for it.
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: I've been nothing but kind to you and these grandchildren
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: I want us to have huh. She says that I
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: have tried for many years to have a relationship with
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: my stepdaughter. Well, I just told him what to say. Okay, Well,
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: just quit trying to have it. You just live your
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: life by ye and don't bring him damn kids over here. Now,
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: let's Christmas shop. You ain't about him damn kids. That's right.
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: I'm a sting, so say that one more time. Don't
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: come over here, no more, and don't bring them damn kids.
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: You talk about the kids to feel bad. No, okay,
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: no they're innocent. Don't bring over I'll tell you what.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: If you want the kids to come over here from now,
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: send them over here by your hus You don't bring
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: your ass over here. But she's miserable in her marriage.
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: She's in an unhappy marriage, so misery loves company. Right. Well,
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: that's why I say send him over here by the husband,
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: because he probably needs a break. I'm pretty sure he
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: loved to come over here to be killed, wash the
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: game with us and everything. He loved to come over
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: there by himself, just to get away from your ain't love.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: If I just stopped by and sit down, I ain't
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: got the driveway, I just come over. I just swing by,
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: Christie Kree, the light was on. Don't know that. Don't
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: really make her mad if she, you know, develops the
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: relationship with the husband and they become good friends. Yeah,
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: so it's really no way to help people like that.
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: It's no terrible how loan this ex white thing can last.
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: Trust me another day. I'm shot over here. If you want,
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: I forgot what I was going to ask you now,
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: he keep going, yeah, I think answer this question was
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: don't you think the husband should say something? Don't you
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: think the husband wants he's trying to say something what
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: he needs to get them off his wife. You don't
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: think that can do any You know what, He's got
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: a delicate line because he don't want it's his daughter.
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: He doesn't want to lose the relationship with his daughter.
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: He doesn't want the daughter to think he's picking the
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: wife over her, and he don't want the wife to
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: think that he's picking the daughter over her. He's caught
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: between the rock and hard place. This is really tough
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: position to be, especially when coming to the women and boys.
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: Boys get on with a lot quicker yeah, yeah, alright,
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: Well listen, guys, we do have to go email us

- 1:14:50Speaker 1: in that corner that is not a water stain. I
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: know that's just a water stay. No, no, damnit that
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: most I know I know what that is. Try to
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: pass that off. I'm not saying your house is nasty,

- 1:16:11Speaker 1: this skipping that We'll just go to the next year,
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: one last one. I ain't saying your house nash, but
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: Jesus said when he comes back, he's not going back there.
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: The Lord, I'm coming back, but I will not. You
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: really need to do alright, guys, thank you. Coming up
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: at the top of the hour, people keep talking to
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: me about blank. We'll explain right after this. You're listening
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: to the Stow So Steve, we got an email from
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: a listener. It says, my friend as a chef, people
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: always talk to him about cooking. Even if he wants
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: to talk about something besides food, the conversation inevitably goes
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: back to him being a great chef. The email goes
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: on to say, I have a friend working for candidate
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: running for office, and every conversation in which she protects
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: inevitably turns into politics. So, Steve, what does every conversation
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: in your life turn into? I mean, people talk about uh,
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: what TV? Money, what funny money? And advice success And
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: it's not that now. It's not that they asked for money.
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: They want to discuss, you know, ideas for it, how
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: to make more. I don't really mind that, you know.
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: I mean, it's like when you meet a chef, you're
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: gonna have questions because everybody loves inside information. A guy
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: in politics, you want to get his opinion. You meet
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: a probe football player, you want to get him make
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: sure about playing ball. Other teams high soon. So, man,
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: have you ever faced and Rogers? That's just comming? So
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: you know, man, you know people, man, how was it? Man?
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: You know? I mean, you know it's like people see
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: Marjorie all the time. They're going, I bet he's just
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: a hoop to live with. I bet he just funny
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: all the time. The comedian. No, he's not funny at
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: home at all. They're just gonna You're just saying that,
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: like I'm just at the house, just show never stopped, yea.
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: Like they always want to ask tell me they have
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: a strawberry letter for me, A letter for you. What
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: you're always talk to you about? Tommy prank my mama,
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: prank my dad, prank my uncle. I'm not just when
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: the people I meet who meet me. Let me just
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: clear this up. I don't know where Steve is. I
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: don't know what he's doing for all of us. For
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: all I'm not with him. I don't know where the
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: hell he is. I don't talk to him that much.
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: I just don't know. And don't give me a damn
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: thing to give him. They're coming with that one. Oh
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: I'm not taking it. You're going in with a bag sevening.
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: But how do you not take the stuff? Oh? You
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: know what I do. And I'm gonna admit this. I'm
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: gonna say it. I'll take it. But I thought it
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: was I've watched him do it now. Yeah, I don't
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: want to hurt nobody feeling. Oh yeah, you know what.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: You know what I don't like, Jake. They roll up
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: on Tommy, got something just for you, dog, just for
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: you whole type come back ten minute, lady. Here it is,
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: get this to Steve. This is my book, and I
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: know here like this book. It's kind of like his book.
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: But not a bo like I heard step like gym
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: and chot and cake. I made one, just wrapped up.
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: I made I made two, one for you and one
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: for Steve. Right the cake. Though. We can't eat something
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: somebody we don't know hands and we can't get it,
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: We can't put it in our person. I don't give
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: damn about your feelings getting hurt. What you're not gonna
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: do is pais and me. Nobody eats food from a
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: total strange. You can't do. It's not even smart. Oh.
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: That reminds me of that meme where this person was
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: washing chiplands in their tub, in their bathtub at home. Yes,
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: that's why you can't take food from strangers. You don't
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: know what their habits are. Top chilings, Yeah, I don't
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: know how y'all ain't. Yeah it don't kind of ChIL
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: in your sink? No, yeah, in the bathtub. Put them
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: in bath. I'm y'all vine no eat, no chilings, chill
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: bath right right right man? Yeah, right after they got out,
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: right after they got up, I'm gonna get right back
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: in here with the child. How about this? Hey, save
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: that water because I got the clean don't don't don't
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: dream that. That's ridiculous. That's a nast We're back at
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: that nasty house again. When you finished watching put some
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: bleak just washing, didn't that, I didn't watch the chien
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: just a little bit of hot water. When last time
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: you had some chiplings? Man, oh man, it's been years now.
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: Don't get me wrong. I used to eat them. But man,
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: did you try to want in Paris? No? I never
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: Oh yeah to that rest. Yeah they were, they were
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: on the menu. Jay. We came back and told Steve
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: about yeah, yeah, chitterlings. Yeah, yeah, I think I'd go
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: with parents chilings before I go with bath. No, I
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: don't want to go anyway, eat no chilling with a frasing.
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: Wee weet that right, Yeah, yeah, that's what you're saying.
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: You got some good chillen, you got the chilling. So
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: that's what Steve. What do you want us to do
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: to stuff people be giving us to give you what
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: you want to keep it? Man? You know I don't
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: need another blanker with my family on it. I don't
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: need another blank I please, I'm not going to do
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: with curl up on it a lot of it. You
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: get paintings where you look like Harriet Tubman I'm like, yeah,
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: that's nice, just like it and the good intentions do.
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: But yeah, I down man, that's Steve coming out more
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: of this crazy ignorance. Steve Harvey Morning Show. Right after this,
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: you're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show. So Steve,
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: how's it going first week back on the new show
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: and everything? Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's getting good reviews and
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: numbers were up over last year. We accomplished something that
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: every show was down from last year. Television is changing
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: right before eyes except our show was up, so that
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: was a good sign. It doesn't mean any shows are
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: endangering anything. It's just it's different. It's changing. It's just changing.
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: The landscape of television is changing. The numbers that used
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: to be attainable aren't there anymore. Too many channels. People
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: watch TV on their devices now, everybody records and watches later.
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: So television's totally changed the way they go about the business.
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: So we'll just see what a lot of great responses,
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: really good response about it. I wasn't really concerned about it,
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: you know. Um, it's a change I wanted to make,
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: so you know, I mean, plus my girls she likes
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: I'm not really Um that really it's like really been
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: helpful to me because I just edge it up on
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: Tuesday mornings before I shoot, and then I do a
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: re clipping edge on Thursday, and then Friday said this
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: Sunday Monday, I just leave it alone. I ain't got
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: the food with it, and you know, less makeup I
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: got to wear. So I mean, you know what's y'all think,
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: especially man, it pops with them and it shows more
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: personal that it's really personal. Yeah and lap back singing,
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: clap back, yeah, clap back. I just added, because you
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: know what, I know, we're taught at celebrities not to
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: comment on social media. Just leaving alone, keeping moving, don't
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: give it life. But sometimes man, you just get tired
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: of people just fine off on and like on a
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: serious note, like it's really really sad what the inquiry
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: can do or ead our online. They don't care that
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: you have a family, they don't care you trying to
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: make your marriage work. They don't care to how it
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: affects your children. They just print lies. And they just printed, man,
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: I mean, a story with no truth to it at
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: all and just print it just doesn't make any sense.
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: So I decided I was just gonna clap back on someone.
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: You know what, you just you're fine at me. I
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: can't say nothing the time on this radio show. I
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: just got tired and I got a segment called speed
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: claps back because I get tied. You fine off on me. Well,
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: I told you about the layout. Was walking in there
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: saying it so well. She said, I don't like to
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: bid it makes you look old. I said, let's review
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: a couple. I was born in nineteen fifty seven. I
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: graduated in nineteen seventy four. I've been alive eleven years,
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: longer than a half a century. I've got seven kids
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: and five grandkids. Hell, I mean so, but and and
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: oh is the is the goal the alternative, right, So
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: I'm embracing it, handling it well, you know, I don't
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: look bad for sixty best look a sixty one year
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: old in the world. Let's some cats out there and
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: straight up shape. But I get that, you know, I'm
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: thinking about I'm really thinking about becoming the new doll.
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: Soaky man, the most exciting man in the world. Interesting,
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: interesting in the world. I like him. I like to do.
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: They got oh yeah, all right, well we'll be back.
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: They hiring people with beards, so here. We'll be back
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: with more of the Steve Harvey Morning Show right after this.
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: You're listening the Steve Harvey Show. All right. Today is
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: the seventeenth anniversary of nine eleven. Wow, we were at work.
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: We were at Yeah, we were all at work in
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: l A. Uh yeah, before the show went national all
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: of that, Steve, I know you remember that day. Well. Well.
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: In New York, ongoing focus remains on the new one
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: World Trade Center in downtown Manhattan. The single skyscraper replaces
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: the iconic twin towers that were destroyed on September eleven,
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: two th one. We will never forget the lives lost
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: and the heroes, the first responders. Uh, it's never good
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: news when you see George Zimmerman's name in the trending topics. Okay,
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: I think we mentioned him earlier in the show. Steve,
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: the man who killed Trayvon Martin is back in the
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: news for sending a series of threatening text and voicemail
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: messages to a private investigator hired to find people to
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: feature in the Jay Z docuseries Rest in Power the
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: Trayvon Martin story. When Zimmerman was asked to participate via
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: a voicemail, he responded by calling the p I his
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: name is Dennis Warren back fifty five times. He called
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: this man back fifty five times, leaving thirty six voicemails,
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: sixty seven text messages, and twenty seven emails over a
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: course of just nine days. Uh. The communications included threats
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: to Jay Z and Beyonce, telling Mr Warren to tell
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: Jay Z he's a b and his wife is a broke. Um. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: it was horrible, It was Yeah. Can I just ask
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: a question, what do he got to do to go
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: to jail? Because they love black people love for anything, anything,
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: exactly exactly. I'll tell you what though. Now you run
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: over there with Mr Carter if you want to, Yeah,
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: get some people over there on that side of the
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: camp and gonna let you do that to him. Some
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: people standing in that area that's not gonna You're not
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: gonna be Yeah. Zimmerman went on to say, Steve, if
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: I see either of them in my life, they'll find
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: themselves inside a thirteen ft gator. What he can say
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: this and walk around free? You don't he don't even
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: know when you start messing with Beyonce. He don't even
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: understand what to bee Hive due damn law enforcement. You
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: gotta hold enough problems that damn right, man, I'd rather
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: have them than the police protects you because they don't
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: care what the law he is. Yeah, matter of fact,
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: I'm thinking about taking out stock in the bed most.
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: It's the most valuable fan base I've ever seen. As
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: a matter of fact, I want to be hive to
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: adopt me. I'm asking to be high for your help
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: with the national enquired a radar online. I want to
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: be high to help me. Where is don't I'm saying, Look,
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: this is a direct message. Let me talk. Let me
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: talk to my social media right here. I'm asking to
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: be high to please adopt me. If you could just
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: treat me as temp as good as you treate create
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: as you treat Beyonce, I'll be more than happy and
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: go get all them hate this that's coming after me.
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: I wont to be high to adopt a sixty one
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: year old black man. I need leadership, goddess and a family,
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: A freaking be Steve Man, That's what I want, all right.
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: Steve is up next with today's closing remarks. We will
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: hear those at forty nine after the hour. Right after
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: this you're listening to Steven Show. All right, Steve, here
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: we go, last break of the day. Um, some parting
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: words for us with your closing remarks please all right? UM,
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: I guess um, without thinking about this much, I want
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: to talk to you about life, how fragile it is,
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: and I want to have something to say about mm hmmm.
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: You know what, I'm really not gonna get into the
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: whole situation, because, like I just be honest with you,
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: there are times, there are actually times when I'm actually
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: sick and tired of talking about it. I am exhausted
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: with the fact that the color of my skin has
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: to come into play in my everyday life, my just
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: day to day. I don't know. I really can't think
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: of any days really pistically why I do not have
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: to consider the color of my skin, the shape of
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: my nose and my lips wherever I go. The situation
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: I'm in, I very rarely I can think of a
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: day that I'm not made aware of it or I
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: have to factor it in. If you're not a person
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: of color or minority, you may not even be able
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: to understand what I'm saying. But I'll just give you
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: an example. When riding in the car and being stopped
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: by the police as me and my buddy Greg Calhoun
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: was doing last year after golf out in coming from
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: Montgomery to Alabama and his car and we were speeding
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: and we were supposed to get pulled over. We were speeding.
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: But what I had to do was immediately become aware
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: that I am a black man. Skip your money in
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: your fame. I don't have time to throw that out
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: at you. I got to get and start preparing myself.
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: As the officer approaches the car, I must understand without
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: him getting my I D I'm a black man, just
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: a black man. So I put my hands up on
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: the dashboard and the officer came to the passengers side
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: and said, why is your hands on the dashboard? I said,
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: because I don't want nothing to happen to me. The
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: officer said, while that's acting mighty suspicious. I said, no,
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: it's not. I'm just being safe, officer. If you don't mind,
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: she said, well, I'll need to see I D. I said,
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: my I D happens to be in a pouch in
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: the back seat. I would have to reach. She said,
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: we'll go ahead, and I was tense because I didn't
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: I didn't want to be mistaken. When I'm on an
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: elevator and I get on, I am conscious of the
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: fact that me and my guy are the only ones
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: on the elevator. When I go to golf courses and
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: I oftentimes see that there are hardy any African Americans
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: out here, It's just me and one maybe the force
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: something that I'm playing with, and and and I'm just
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: always aware of it. If you're not that, you don't
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: have to be aware of it. But it's the awareness
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: that becomes draining at times. It's the fact that you've
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: got to be the only one on your floor, the
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: only one on the elevator, the only one in the cubicle,
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: the only one in your department, the only one at
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: the meeting, the only one in the cafeteria, the only
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: one on the on the trip, the only one, the
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: only one at the hotel, at the front desk, the
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: only one, the only one, the only one's kids that's
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: in the recital, the only one's kids that's at the
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: that's on the soccer team, the only one, the only one,
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: the only one, the only one. Gets to be exhausting
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: at times. This will not change. And two more people
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: who are not of color, can try to empathize or
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: sympathize or generalize or something with us to say, you
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: know what, I don't know how that feels, but I
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: bet that ain't right, because, as I've often said many times,
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: slavery didn't end just because black people got sick of
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: being slaves. We were sick of it the thought of it.
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: When they put us on them boats. Nobody wanted to
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: ride the boat over here and come be no slaves.
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: Nobody was under the belly of them slave ships, going, man,
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: this is nice. It's gonna be a new opportunity. Nobody.
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: So I want to wake up and just see what
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: it feels like to just go about my day without
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: having to calculate my race, without to have to calculate
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: the color of my skin, to watch other people get
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: paid a certain amount of money and then you don't
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: get paid a certain amount of money with the same
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: type of ratings, and then you got you got to
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: incorporate something else again. Now, I've been very blessed with
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: the life that I have, and I would not trade
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: mind for anything. With all this sick and tired of
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: being sick and tired. Also what makes this also tolerable.
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: For me, it is my love of who I am,
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: my love of our power to overcome, our power to
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: maintain in the struggle, our power to still be something
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: where we were brought here to simply be nothing, So
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: for us to have accomplished what we've accomplished. I'm grateful
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: and awful proud of that. So I guess my pride
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: just keeps me going on. I hope that guy will
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: continue to let whatever light that I can let shine
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: through my existence to inspire someone else to overcome when
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: it looked like you ain't gonna make it. Because that's
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: exactly what I've done, by the grace of God. I
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: have overcome against all the odds, even when they said
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: I wasn't gonna make it. And even though I'm tired
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: of being tired, I wouldn't trade places and be nothing else,
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: know how, because in this struggle has taught me so
