Latest / Life For Toledo / Pleasing the Lord Colossians 3:20

- 0:00I'm thinking today of a verse in the book of Colossians. Colossians 3 20 says,
- 0:08children be obedient to your parents in all things for this is well pleasing to
- 0:15the Lord. It's interesting this verse written directly to children seems to
- 0:23basically ask the kids to honor and obey their parents not unlike that which is
- 0:28in the Ten Commandments. Interestingly enough that which was in the Ten
- 0:31Commandments was not given specifically to children it was given to everybody
- 0:35especially adults and so we are to honor it and obey our parents our entire lives.
- 0:43Of course parents ought to be the kind of parents that make it easy for young
- 0:48people and for adults who are their children to honor and obey them. What's
- 0:54interesting here is the phrase that says this is well pleasing to the Lord and I
- 0:59ask you in your choices in the things that you do daily in your worship
- 1:04together with other believers in your service whatever that might be in your
- 1:08giving in your faithfulness is this your motivation are you choosing on a daily
- 1:14basis day in day out minute by minute to do the things that are pleasing to the
- 1:20Lord let me encourage you to do exactly that you are loved by God favor is found
- 1:29in God for men he loves us and he favors us and he sent his son in return doesn't
- 1:39make sense for us to do things that please him nothing about
