I'm thinking today of a verse in the book of Colossians. Colossians 3 20 says,

children be obedient to your parents in all things for this is well pleasing to

the Lord. It's interesting this verse written directly to children seems to

basically ask the kids to honor and obey their parents not unlike that which is

in the Ten Commandments. Interestingly enough that which was in the Ten

Commandments was not given specifically to children it was given to everybody

especially adults and so we are to honor it and obey our parents our entire lives.

Of course parents ought to be the kind of parents that make it easy for young

people and for adults who are their children to honor and obey them. What's

interesting here is the phrase that says this is well pleasing to the Lord and I

ask you in your choices in the things that you do daily in your worship

together with other believers in your service whatever that might be in your

giving in your faithfulness is this your motivation are you choosing on a daily

basis day in day out minute by minute to do the things that are pleasing to the

Lord let me encourage you to do exactly that you are loved by God favor is found

in God for men he loves us and he favors us and he sent his son in return doesn't

make sense for us to do things that please him nothing about
