- 0:00Today's tech news moves fast, but understanding
- 0:03it shouldn't be hard. That's why Snarful Solutions
- 0:06Group brings you Connecting the Docs, where we
- 0:09break down what's happening in tech and why it
- 0:11matters to you. Now, let's dive in with your
- 0:14hosts. Good morning, everyone. You are listening
- 0:17to Connecting the Docs. I'm Alex. And I'm Morgan.
- 0:20We are coming to you live from the Snarful Solutions
- 0:22Group studios right here in a, well, a slightly
- 0:27breezy Sacramento, California. It is Tuesday,
- 0:30February 17th, 2026, and I have to say the vibe
- 0:34in the studio is high energy today. It really
- 0:37is. We've got a lot to get through, even if the
- 0:39weather map is looking a little intense in some
- 0:42spots. Definitely intense. Let's start there.
- 0:45Quick look at the world outside our window and
- 0:47yours. Right. So if you are listening from the
- 0:50central or southern plains today, please be careful.
- 0:53The National Weather Service is using some pretty
- 0:56strong language. They're flagging extremely critical
- 0:59fire weather conditions. Extremely critical.
- 1:01That's a phrase that, yeah, always makes you
- 1:04sit up a little straighter. Exactly. We're talking
- 1:05gusty winds, very low humidity. It's a dangerous
- 1:08combination. A real tinderbox. So please be incredibly
- 1:12careful with anything that could spark. For sure.
- 1:14Meanwhile, out west, it is the complete opposite
- 1:16problem. Right, two Pacific storms rolling in.
- 1:19Yep. So rain and wind at low elevations, but
- 1:22get ready for some heavy snow up in the mountains.
- 1:24Here at home in Sacramento, hold onto your hats.
- 1:27Literally. We have a wind advisory in effect
- 1:29until 10 .00 p .m. Thursday, so maybe tie down
- 1:32that patio furniture. Good advice. Yeah. Okay,
- 1:35so from a wild weather situation to, well, something
- 1:39a bit more optimistic, the financial markets.
- 1:42A little calmer, yeah. The Dow Jones closed yesterday
- 1:45up about 10 points sitting at 49 ,536. And the
- 1:51S &P 500. Also ticked up. closed at 6 ,835. So,
- 1:55you know, it's not a rocket launch, but green
- 1:57is green. Slow and steady. I do see bitcoins
- 1:59taking a tiny breather, though. Just a small
- 2:02one. It's hovering around 68 ,188. So down about
- 2:051 % to standard crypto volatility. Right. OK,
- 2:08before we dive into the big tech news today,
- 2:10we have to mention what's fueling our morning.
- 2:12We are talking about strong coffee. You know
- 2:15I'm not a morning person, and I really hate the
- 2:17jitters I get from most coffees. And that is
- 2:18why strong coffee is so different. It's a premium
- 2:21instant coffee, so it's super fast. But it tastes
- 2:23like a traditional brew. It really does. And
- 2:25the kicker is what's inside. It's packed with
- 2:2815 grams of protein, MCTs, and adaptogens like
- 2:31ashwagandha. And that gives you that clean, sustained
- 2:34energy. No crash at 2 p .m. It's just, it's functional
- 2:38fuel. Totally. And we have a deal for you. Use
- 2:41the promo code SNARFL, that's SNARFL, for 20
- 2:45% off your entire purchase over at strongcoffeecompany
- 2:48.com. Love it. Okay, let's get to it. It is time
- 2:52for the morning star. The SNARFL Tech article
- 2:55report. We've got the top three tech stories
- 2:57of the day. First up. A big one. Apple Podcasts
- 3:01is finally, and I mean finally, getting serious
- 3:04about video. Right, which is funny because I
- 3:06feel like I watch half my podcasts on YouTube
- 3:08now. I mean too, and that's exactly why this
- 3:10is happening. Apple basically invented the space.
- 3:13Yeah. Podcasts on iTunes way back in 2005. But
- 3:16they've been losing ground to Spotify and especially
- 3:18YouTube because people, well it turns out we
- 3:20like to see the hosts. We like looking at faces.
- 3:22We do. So launching this spring, Apple Podcasts
- 3:25is getting advanced video capabilities. Okay,
- 3:28advanced. Is that just marketing speak or is
- 3:30there actually some new tech here? No, it's a
- 3:32real technical upgrade. They're using something
- 3:34called HLS. HLS. HTTP live streaming. So why
- 3:38should I care about that? It's all about smooth
- 3:40playback. It basically adapts the video quality
- 3:43to your bandwidth. So if you're on spotty Wi
- 3:46-Fi or you go from 5G to 4G on the train, no
- 3:50buffering, the video just adjusts. Exactly. No
- 3:53more annoying spinning wheel. Yeah. But the user
- 3:55experience is the real game changer here. You
- 3:58can switch between listening and watching right
- 4:01inside the app, seamlessly. Okay. Can be the
- 4:03use case for that. All right. So you're watching
- 4:05a show on the commute home. But then you get
- 4:07in your car, you can't watch anymore. You just
- 4:09switch it to audio only, phone goes in your pocket,
- 4:11and the audio just keeps playing. You don't lose
- 4:13your place. That is huge. I can't tell you how
- 4:16many times I've been watching something on YouTube,
- 4:18I lock my screen to drive, and poof, it's gone.
- 4:21Exactly. Apple is removing that friction. They're
- 4:24also adding a horizontal full display, and this
- 4:28is key, offline video downloads. Oh, lifesaver
- 4:31for flights. But why now? What's the real incentive
- 4:34for Apple? Money. It's always money, right? Ad
- 4:37revenue. Oh, of course. This lets creators dynamically
- 4:40insert video ads. So, host read spots stitched
- 4:44right into the video. It opens up a whole new
- 4:46revenue stream. It really feels like the final
- 4:48dot connecting audio and video. The whole debate
- 4:51of, is it a podcast or is it a show? Apple's
- 4:54just saying. It doesn't matter. It's content.
- 4:56And they've got the big networks on board. Acast,
- 4:59Amazon's ART19, SiriusXM. They're all in. So
- 5:03the industry is standardizing around this hybrid
- 5:06model. It looks that way. Beta testing is starting
- 5:08today in iOS 26 .4. You know, sometimes I just
- 5:12want to listen while I do the dishes. But other
- 5:14times, if they're showing a chart or something,
- 5:15I feel like I'm missing out. This gives you the
- 5:17choice. It puts you in control. OK, speaking
- 5:19of automated systems and processing information,
- 5:22let's move to story number two. This one feels
- 5:25a little more heavy enterprise. It is, but stick
- 5:30with us because it's a huge signal for where
- 5:32AI is really going. So this is the partnership
- 5:34between Infosys, the Indian IT giant, and Anthropic.
- 5:39Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI models.
- 5:42The ones focused really heavily on safety. Right.
- 5:45And this isn't just about using a chat bot for
- 5:47emails. They're integrating Anthropic's models,
- 5:50specifically one called Claude Code, into their
- 5:53own AI platform, which is called Topaz. Okay,
- 5:56we hear about partnerships all the time. Why
- 5:58does this one actually matter? Because of the
- 6:00goal. They're aiming for something called agentic
- 6:02AI. Agentic AI. I have to say, it sounds like
- 6:06a sci -fi villain. It does, doesn't it? But it's...
- 6:09Actually, really practical. See, right now, most
- 6:12AI is passive. It's a chat bot. You ask a question,
- 6:14it gives an answer. It waits for you to drive.
- 6:17Exactly. Agentic AI means the system has agency.
- 6:20It can handle multi -step workflows all by itself.
- 6:22So instead of me asking, how do I process an
- 6:25insurance claim, and the AI giving me steps?
- 6:27The AI just processes the claim. It does the
- 6:30work. It receives the claim, checks the policy,
- 6:32cross -references photos, flags, compliance issues,
- 6:35and drafts the approval letter. All one workflow.
- 6:38That is a massive leap from, write me a poem
- 6:41about my cat. It's a huge leap. It moves AI from
- 6:44being an assistant to being a digital worker.
- 6:46And that's why they're starting with regulated
- 6:48industries. Telecom is first, then finance and
- 6:52manufacturing. Those seem like the hardest places
- 6:54to start. All the red tape. That's the point.
- 6:56They're high stakes and messy. The CEO of Anthropic,
- 6:59Dario Amadei, said there's a huge gap between
- 7:02an AI that works in a demo. And one that works
- 7:04in the real world. A demo can crash, no big deal.
- 7:07If a bank's AI messes up a loan, you get sued.
- 7:10Precisely. Infosys brings that boring but essential
- 7:14knowledge of how these industries actually work.
- 7:17Anthropic brings the brain. It's about moving
- 7:19AI from a toy to a production engine. And using
- 7:23Claude code specifically suggests they're not
- 7:25just pushing paper, they're writing software.
- 7:27A huge part of it. Generating code, testing code,
- 7:30modernizing networks for these giant telecom
- 7:32companies. It's all about speed and scale. So
- 7:35story one is about how we consume content. Story
- 7:38two is about how the sausage gets made in the
- 7:40corporate world. It's becoming automated. And
- 7:42that leads us perfectly into our third story.
- 7:45Because if Infosys is making this move, what
- 7:49does that tell us about the money? Right. Let's
- 7:52connect the dots to the economy. Story number
- 7:54three. is about the AI Impact Summit and a big
- 7:58shake -up in the stock market. Yeah, let's look
- 8:00at the scoreboard for 2026 so far. It has been
- 8:02a rough start for traditional software stocks.
- 8:04Rough is putting it mildly. Microsoft is down
- 8:0717 % year -to -date. Oracle is down 18%. And
- 8:11Palantir, which is usually an AI darling, is
- 8:13down 26%. Ouch. The market is nervous. But then
- 8:17you look at Infosys yesterday. Up almost 4 %
- 8:19in the US pre -market, about 2 % in Mumbai. And
- 8:22that jump happened specifically because of the
- 8:24Anthropic deal. It tells you investors are looking
- 8:26for implementation. It's not enough to just own
- 8:28the fancy AI model anymore. You have to be the
- 8:31company that actually puts it to work. Exactly.
- 8:33And India is positioning itself to be that implementation
- 8:36engine for the world. Which brings us to the
- 8:39AI Impact Summit happening right now in New Delhi.
- 8:42The guest list for this thing is, it's just insane.
- 8:45You've got Sundar Pichai from Alphabet, Sam Altman
- 8:49from OpenAI, Dario Amode from Anthropic, Metta's
- 8:53chief AI officer. They're all there. It's like
- 8:56the Avengers of AI assembling in India, and it
- 8:59signals a huge shift. For decades, the story
- 9:03was about outsourcing. Right. Cheaper labor,
- 9:06call centers, that kind of thing. That narrative
- 9:08is shifting to transformation. India isn't just
- 9:11maintaining the old systems anymore, they're
- 9:13building the new AI -driven ones. They're moving
- 9:15up the value chain. It makes sense. If you have
- 9:17millions of engineers and you give them a tool
- 9:20like Claude Code, you can upgrade global infrastructure
- 9:23faster than anyone else. And that's the aha moment.
- 9:26The software giants might be stumbling because
- 9:28the market is realizing selling the software
- 9:30isn't the whole game. You need the workforce
- 9:32to apply it. And Infosys has that workforce.
- 9:35It's a fascinating dynamic. It's not just about
- 9:37the code. It's about the people who can wield
- 9:39the code safely. So the market is maturing. We're
- 9:42past the hype phase and into the prove it phase.
- 9:44Exactly. Show me the ROI. Show me the agent that
- 9:47actually does the work. So to recap. Apple wants
- 9:51your eyeballs, Infosys wants to automate the
- 9:53boring stuff, and the stock market is rewarding
- 9:56the companies that can actually deliver. That
- 9:58sums it up perfectly. Well, before we wrap things
- 10:01up, we do have one more important message. This
- 10:03is for the golfers listening, or really anyone
- 10:06who likes comfortable shoes. We're talking about
- 10:08Skony. They are a sponsor of the show and they
- 10:10make fantastic footwear. If you haven't heard
- 10:12of them, Skoni, that's pronounced Skoni, is a
- 10:16premium golf shoe store. And these are not your
- 10:19grandpa's stiff, uncomfortable cleats. Not at
- 10:22all. These are stylish, they perform, and they
- 10:24feel great right out of the box. No break -in
- 10:26period. Comfort is everything. If your feet hurt
- 10:29on the back nine, your game falls apart. It does.
- 10:32And we have a hookup for our listeners. Use promo
- 10:34code SNARFL at checkout. That's SNARFL for 15
- 10:37% off your entire purchase. Check them out over
- 10:39at scony .com. So looking back at today's stories,
- 10:43what's the big takeaway for you? I think it's
- 10:45that agentic AI piece. I really feel like we're
- 10:48going to look back at 2026 as the year AI stopped
- 10:52just chatting and actually started doing. The
- 10:54idea that a system can handle a compliance review
- 10:57for a bank. on its own, that changes the workforce
- 11:01in a profound way. It does, and it raises the
- 11:04stakes for accuracy and trust, which brings it
- 11:07back to the Apple story. They're betting that
- 11:09better tools build more trust in their platform
- 11:12over, say, YouTube. It's all converging, isn't
- 11:15it? Audio meets video, software meets service.
- 11:18And hopefully that fire weather meets some much
- 11:20-needed rain. Amen to that. All right, that is
- 11:24a wrap for today's show. We hope you feel a little
- 11:26more connected and ready to tackle your Tuesday.
- 11:28We're here to help at Snarful, so reach out on
