- 2:08Speaker 1: say this every episode and every week. It's time to
- 2:10Speaker 1: stop reading other people's success stories and start writing your own.
- 2:14Speaker 1: People talk about gifts and passion. If you have a gift,
- 2:17Speaker 1: lead with your gift and don't let your age, friends, family,
- 2:19Speaker 1: or coworker, stop you for planning or living your dreams.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I interview celebrity CEOs, entrepreneurs and people I like to
- 2:26Speaker 1: call industry decision makers. My next guest is Sky Alvest Black.
- 2:30Speaker 1: They mostly fascinated dancer, singer and actor who not long
- 2:33Speaker 1: ago was performing alongside of heavy hitters like Beyonce, Rihanna,
- 2:37Speaker 1: Barrid Carret before hanging up his dancing shoes for acting classes.
- 2:41Speaker 1: And guess when the interview wan him to tell you
- 2:42Speaker 1: how he got an actor who had to make him
- 2:44Speaker 1: get an acting is celebrating his latest gig these days.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Scott started a new PET series, All the Queensmen. Lem
- 2:52Speaker 1: Gonna tell You One More Time. All the Queensmen one
- 2:56Speaker 1: of my favorite series right now on TV right now. Okay,
- 2:59Speaker 1: y'all know I don't just say that. He also played
- 3:01Speaker 1: in a fan favorite Jacobe on the BT series Tyler
- 3:05Speaker 1: Perry's Sisters. Scott would also be starting an upcoming legal
- 3:08Speaker 1: drama Lace as he pursues his acting career. He was
- 3:12Speaker 1: homeless three times and sometimes this is what this episode
- 3:14Speaker 1: is about. You know, we talk about faith, We talked
- 3:19Speaker 1: about your dream and achieving it, but sometimes it Couples
- 3:22Speaker 1: are set back, and some backs can be turned backs
- 3:25Speaker 1: where he did not turn back, and he's on the
- 3:27Speaker 1: show to talk about his career and most importantly all
- 3:30Speaker 1: the queens. Man, please must my man Sky vs. Black?
- 3:35Speaker 1: How you doing, sir? You know what? So so man,
- 3:39Speaker 1: I'm phone our phone with all my interviews. But the
- 3:42Speaker 1: fact that I've been looking at your face man for
- 3:46Speaker 1: like a think a secutive episode. That's how riveteen. That's
- 3:50Speaker 1: how I laughed. I'm gonna tell you about the series.
- 3:53Speaker 1: It was dramatic. It was the ladies were empowered. I'm
- 3:59Speaker 1: talking about the female characters were empowering. Uh and and
- 4:03Speaker 1: it just led me to believe that there's something a
- 4:07Speaker 1: different writing style. Kim Fields was she the primary director.
- 4:11Speaker 1: She directed a prominent amount of episodes. Kim Fields the
- 4:13Speaker 1: actress Kim Fish. She directed four episodes Deuce Deuce also
- 4:19Speaker 1: directed two episodes, and Matt Barnes directed two episodes. So
- 4:23Speaker 1: we had a great plethora of different visions that all
- 4:27Speaker 1: came together to make this like cohesive, you know, beautiful masterpiece.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Absolutely you hear nothing negative you about this. I'm teking
- 4:36Speaker 1: my laugh. I thought that, uh, I thought Eva, who
- 4:39Speaker 1: was the star of this show, she is Madam. Uh
- 4:43Speaker 1: you know, I remember I was growing up. It was
- 4:46Speaker 1: a movie I saw called a Truck Turner. It was
- 4:48Speaker 1: an old star like Hayes and and it was a
- 4:51Speaker 1: character kind of like Mattamus. It was played by Lieutenant
- 4:55Speaker 1: hur Or from Star Tracks. She was the lead character.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I mean, she didn't take no gruff man, I'm and
- 5:00Speaker 1: she talks mack and she cuts you out, and it
- 5:02Speaker 1: was like, it's so different from her character. But it
- 5:04Speaker 1: was like the first time I ever saw a character
- 5:07Speaker 1: where a woman was like, you know, had our place
- 5:09Speaker 1: and showed strength. And then let's talk about the Madam
- 5:12Speaker 1: character because she she's introduced very early on into the series.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Because you meet the upfront. Talk about that relationship and
- 5:20Speaker 1: also your character from the standpoint of developing it and
- 5:23Speaker 1: being able to carry it through this arc. Okay, so
- 5:27Speaker 1: that it was first and foremost all. I always say
- 5:31Speaker 1: to even that we have such a great chemistry on camera,
- 5:36Speaker 1: and um, I believe that's because once we got our
- 5:41Speaker 1: work and we understood what was going on in the
- 5:45Speaker 1: entire series, we realized that these two characters are more
- 5:51Speaker 1: bonding on the commonality of pain, meaning that we're both
- 5:55Speaker 1: ostracized from our families. And the Madam character is such
- 6:02Speaker 1: a vital and strong character because she's you see a
- 6:08Speaker 1: woman where a lot of people in society don't really
- 6:12Speaker 1: get to see a woman running a business and also
- 6:15Speaker 1: being and also being a caretaker. And Um, I always say,
- 6:20Speaker 1: the beautiful part about this show is that it's not
- 6:22Speaker 1: a strip of show. It's a show based on humanity.
- 6:26Speaker 1: And society has this taboo upon meloxioetic dancing, and they
- 6:30Speaker 1: have a taboo on you know, just how certain people
- 6:35Speaker 1: may get their money, which Madam does. But at the
- 6:39Speaker 1: same time, there's an integrity to Madam when it comes
- 6:42Speaker 1: to humanity, you know, just really take not judging people
- 6:47Speaker 1: and and taking them in. And I always say the
- 6:50Speaker 1: silent character of the show is club eating. Club beating
- 6:53Speaker 1: is a safe haven where all of these social misfits
- 6:56Speaker 1: come with no judgment and hold each other down. And
- 7:00Speaker 1: Madam has supplied that and myself as coming in as
- 7:04Speaker 1: her um, her nephew, am Um. The casting process, it
- 7:09Speaker 1: was written first and foremost, I have to shout out
- 7:12Speaker 1: Christian Keys, thank you, thank you, thank you to Christian Keys,
- 7:14Speaker 1: because it's based on his book Ladies Night. Um, if
- 7:18Speaker 1: you didn't know, and Christian wrote All the Queen's Men,
- 7:21Speaker 1: I think, um, I don't. I don't want to miss
- 7:24Speaker 1: quote the amount of years, but he wrote it pretty probably,
- 7:27Speaker 1: I think about roughly ten years ago. For and the
- 7:30Speaker 1: Amp character was supposed to be Christian's breakout role. And
- 7:33Speaker 1: Kristin actually plays the concierge on All the Queen's Men
- 7:37Speaker 1: and he's also executive one of the executive producers, so
- 7:40Speaker 1: he wrote this character. And he told me, he said,
- 7:44Speaker 1: once I saw your audition tape, that's a that's a
- 7:48Speaker 1: He's like, it's like, he got it. You understood it.
- 7:51Speaker 1: And I really did at that time when I auditioned
- 7:55Speaker 1: for Ampler far audition for Assistance and um, at that time,
- 8:00Speaker 1: I wasn't in the one bedroom apartment with two other people,
- 8:04Speaker 1: and I just understood the circumstances of this kid ruining
- 8:11Speaker 1: to get out of you have a chance at life,
- 8:17Speaker 1: like have his piece of the pie. And I did
- 8:20Speaker 1: not know what went into prison for based on the
- 8:22Speaker 1: audition side, but what I did, I said, there's something
- 8:26Speaker 1: about because in the first probably ten minutes of the show,
- 8:31Speaker 1: he runs to apologize why is he doing that? That
- 8:35Speaker 1: obviously showed to me that that's not a bad kid.
- 8:38Speaker 1: That that's not a bad kid. That was a kid
- 8:40Speaker 1: that felt victim the circumstance. So I built this whole
- 8:44Speaker 1: back story on twenty years old. And all I knew
- 8:49Speaker 1: is that he came out of prison after nine years.
- 8:51Speaker 1: I said, this is not a bad kid. And and
- 8:53Speaker 1: getting this series and getting the rest of the scripture
- 8:55Speaker 1: wasn't He is actually a victim of circumstance from one
- 8:59Speaker 1: bad choice. And and he's actually upper class and upper class, um,
- 9:06Speaker 1: upper middle class kid, probably upper class, upper class in Atlanta.
- 9:10Speaker 1: And you know, Atlanta is built on it's the South, Um,
- 9:15Speaker 1: it's built on Black excellence and and um, you know,
- 9:18Speaker 1: a certain level of moral upper level, moral decorum in
- 9:24Speaker 1: certain circles. And that is where it comes from. And
- 9:27Speaker 1: and Am became a victim of his father's ambition. And
- 9:35Speaker 1: a lot of times, and a lot of times, as
- 9:38Speaker 1: young black men or even black men period, we're not
- 9:41Speaker 1: allowed to feel, We're not allowed to be vulnerable. We're
- 9:44Speaker 1: not allowed to say, hey, I don't feel okay. We
- 9:46Speaker 1: have to mask it and we have to just make
- 9:48Speaker 1: it work. And so Amp was always just trying to
- 9:52Speaker 1: a piece his parents, make his dad proud of him.
- 9:55Speaker 1: He's in my mind he was an athlete, a d
- 9:57Speaker 1: one athlete, coming out of school, high school, full ride everything,
- 10:01Speaker 1: but he had a drinking problem. Let's hold that point
- 10:06Speaker 1: right there. Because of the fact that I don't want
- 10:08Speaker 1: to reveal too much. I want people gotta watch you.
- 10:10Speaker 1: You're a good talker. Now now Scott talking to Vesta Black.
- 10:14Speaker 1: We're interviewing on this series, the exciting series on bt
- 10:18Speaker 1: UH plus series streaming lines called All the Queen's Men.
- 10:22Speaker 1: He plays uh. He plays a young man, like he said,
- 10:25Speaker 1: he made a mistake and who has to find his
- 10:26Speaker 1: way back into life. And he places the nephew of
- 10:29Speaker 1: a Her character name is Madam and she owns a
- 10:33Speaker 1: club and the club is filled with male dancers. And
- 10:36Speaker 1: if you're if you're a fan of Magic Mike, you
- 10:39Speaker 1: know this is the same thing. But it's just African
- 10:42Speaker 1: Americans who are The lead character is a female, not
- 10:46Speaker 1: a male, okay. And her bodyguard is a female not
- 10:50Speaker 1: a male. Okay. The decisions that all made from a
- 10:53Speaker 1: operation standpoint, made by women. It's an empowering show from
- 10:57Speaker 1: that standpoint. And this is why I really liked this series.
- 11:00Speaker 1: And this is why because I'm older than you, and
- 11:02Speaker 1: I've been able to see television grow from a different perspective,
- 11:06Speaker 1: like you know, like finstance, Mafia movies have always seen
- 11:10Speaker 1: to cross over and be accepted. You know. The violence,
- 11:15Speaker 1: the coolness, the slickness, the family you know, always was
- 11:21Speaker 1: brought into And what we've seen since power has come
- 11:25Speaker 1: on is that now they're allowing us to tell our stories.
- 11:29Speaker 1: I'm talking about the general public, even black people, allowing
- 11:32Speaker 1: us to tell our stories from a standpoint of dizzy Papa, Okay,
- 11:39Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Okay, So now they're allowing us to tell
- 11:43Speaker 1: our story. And that's why I really like this because
- 11:46Speaker 1: it has credibility to it. This is this is no
- 11:49Speaker 1: different than you know, when, when when when? When I
- 11:52Speaker 1: s Q did players long time ago? Okay with Bernie Matt,
- 11:55Speaker 1: But it's but it's it's the credibility and the crafting
- 11:58Speaker 1: and the styling, and the fact that now we don't
- 12:01Speaker 1: have precedents, we can see things that are like, Okay,
- 12:03Speaker 1: I can buy into this, and that's why I really
- 12:06Speaker 1: enjoyed guy. I really enjoy your role and enjoy the
- 12:09Speaker 1: characters and the fact that man, this is like you said,
- 12:12Speaker 1: it is a club filled with misfits, but they're relatable
- 12:15Speaker 1: misfits because they all caught up into a world that
- 12:18Speaker 1: they kind of trapped in. They can leave, but they trapped. Yeah, yeah.
- 12:24Speaker 1: And and and because people care for them too. Yes, yeah,
- 12:29Speaker 1: it's it's it's like a family atmosphere. And I'll go back,
- 12:33Speaker 1: I'll go back to what you said. Um, as far
- 12:35Speaker 1: as you know, Madam being Madam and being usually the
- 12:41Speaker 1: kid comes out. He's a trouble kid, that was and
- 12:44Speaker 1: it's like, that's not the case, that is not the case.
- 12:48Speaker 1: You know, Um, you do get to see. It brings
- 12:53Speaker 1: you into the eyes of this already established world and
- 12:56Speaker 1: so now as the viewer, you're kind of navigating this
- 13:00Speaker 1: new thing through's eyes. And that is what I loved
- 13:04Speaker 1: That m has such a innocence and almost a night
- 13:08Speaker 1: in a tade to what is going on. And he's
- 13:11Speaker 1: also being schooled on, um, how to open up himself,
- 13:17Speaker 1: because you can see he's not very open, but you
- 13:20Speaker 1: see the learning. And I love that Am. I always
- 13:23Speaker 1: call him the viewer's character, the viewer's character because because
- 13:26Speaker 1: you're learning how this goes, just as Ample is learning
- 13:30Speaker 1: how it goes. So that was pretty cool. To me. Absolutely,
- 13:32Speaker 1: let's let's go to my male dances. Now, my boys,
- 13:35Speaker 1: you know my boy, my boy, Midnight Face free go.
- 13:40Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. Come on now, number four
- 13:44Speaker 1: Blue can't forget Midnight Blue Man. Okay, now let's let's
- 13:49Speaker 1: go and be real here. Now. Was any of these
- 13:51Speaker 1: guys dances before or the dancers their dancers? Right? Okay,
- 13:57Speaker 1: Face gotta be a dancer, the face, um Face who's
- 14:02Speaker 1: played by Keith Yep, he's a real dancer. Doc who's
- 14:05Speaker 1: played by Michael Bolware is a real dancer. Midnight who's
- 14:08Speaker 1: played by Germany is a real dancer. In El Fuego
- 14:11Speaker 1: who's played by De Rone, real dancer Frego. I mean,
- 14:15Speaker 1: I mean Face doesn't he does some moves on that floor. Man,
- 14:18Speaker 1: when he flipping this ille. This is what he do
- 14:22Speaker 1: for a living. That's what he that ain't somebody told
- 14:26Speaker 1: him about to do that? He didn't feel this out
- 14:28Speaker 1: on the dance flow, and he did it. I said,
- 14:30Speaker 1: this boy is doing this for a living. Actually, all
- 14:33Speaker 1: of the guys solos were, even though we do have
- 14:37Speaker 1: a choreographer, John Silver for the group numbers, but all
- 14:40Speaker 1: of the guys solos were actually choreographed by themselves and
- 14:43Speaker 1: that was a cool part. That's a cool part that
- 14:46Speaker 1: I think with this show is so authentic because those
- 14:50Speaker 1: guys lived that life. Yes for reading, and that is
- 14:53Speaker 1: what That's why I feel there's a draw to the
- 14:57Speaker 1: show because they know the world and I love it
- 15:00Speaker 1: to see that they We were able to get people
- 15:03Speaker 1: who are authentic to this art form because it is
- 15:05Speaker 1: an art form and I had to learn it and
- 15:07Speaker 1: I asked questions on questions on questions to make sure
- 15:12Speaker 1: the validity of the show was was captured. We'll be
- 15:16Speaker 1: right back with more money making conversation with the start
- 15:18Speaker 1: of the new BT Plus series All the Queen's Men,
- 15:22Speaker 1: Sky Alvesta Black. It's finally here, the season of celebration

- 17:22Speaker 1: back to money making Conversations. As I continue my conversation
- 17:25Speaker 1: with one of the stars of the new b ET
- 17:27Speaker 1: plus series All the Queens Men, Sky Alvesta Black, Well,
- 17:31Speaker 1: you know the fun part about this series, man, and
- 17:34Speaker 1: it's funny. I'm just telling everybody I was entertained by it.
- 17:37Speaker 1: I was, uh, their sympathy and the Amp character played
- 17:41Speaker 1: by Sky. There is romance between Sky and Dime and Diamonds.
- 17:46Speaker 1: She's the DJ kind of like the force of the house.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Uh that there, uh the you know it. Playing Blue
- 17:55Speaker 1: is like this fearless bodyguard. Everybody's fears, everybody's fearless in
- 18:00Speaker 1: this whole role and and it's like it's it's one
- 18:03Speaker 1: of those roles. It's one of those shows that where
- 18:04Speaker 1: you just challenged to step up. You know, if you
- 18:07Speaker 1: if you move something in like step up, don't don't
- 18:10Speaker 1: ask for it. If you if that's what you want,
- 18:13Speaker 1: to demand it and then put forth the effort to
- 18:16Speaker 1: achieve it. And that's how you see your character developed
- 18:19Speaker 1: as you go into the halfway house and we see
- 18:22Speaker 1: you starting to one. I like the way they brought
- 18:25Speaker 1: your character along. It didn't jump out too fast. You
- 18:29Speaker 1: wanted to try to go the route of what you
- 18:31Speaker 1: thought would be successful. And then you saw an outlet
- 18:34Speaker 1: talk about that transition in the AMP character in the
- 18:37Speaker 1: series All the queens Men. Well, yeah, like you said,
- 18:41Speaker 1: I really really love that. I love AMP character arc
- 18:46Speaker 1: because you know he is coming out of I'm sorry,
- 18:52Speaker 1: everybody wants to call you a chill multiple cameras, so
- 18:56Speaker 1: don't worry. We'll editing and be clean, irrelevant, clean, okay, cool. Um.
- 19:00Speaker 1: I do love M's character art because you have to
- 19:04Speaker 1: realize it's coming out of prison after nine years. So
- 19:08Speaker 1: All the queens Man takes place the current day, So
- 19:11Speaker 1: that was two thousand and twelve. So now when he's
- 19:14Speaker 1: coming out, obviously he's been in prison. Milling over is
- 19:19Speaker 1: what happened to him and how he wants to just
- 19:21Speaker 1: come out and do better and be better. But now
- 19:24Speaker 1: you see him coming on, like you said, he's like,
- 19:27Speaker 1: how can I take the road over straight? And now
- 19:29Speaker 1: how can I just be better? How can I see
- 19:32Speaker 1: he away from trouble as much as possible, and then
- 19:35Speaker 1: he starts to see that in warning a better life
- 19:40Speaker 1: for himself and also being ostracized by his family. He
- 19:43Speaker 1: doesn't have mom and that anymore. Wait now I can
- 19:47Speaker 1: maybe I'll start this new life because sixty days later
- 19:53Speaker 1: I have to go and get it. I'm gonna be
- 19:54Speaker 1: out of the halfway house and I have to make
- 19:56Speaker 1: decisions on how do I become a man that is
- 19:59Speaker 1: that self of this ship And one of the best
- 20:01Speaker 1: one of my favorite lines in the whole show, and
- 20:05Speaker 1: if you haven't seen it, you'll see it. If you
- 20:07Speaker 1: have seen it, it's where Amp has it. Amp says
- 20:11Speaker 1: he's starving the dime and he says, but do you
- 20:15Speaker 1: think this is really me? And that one line shows
- 20:20Speaker 1: you who Amp is. He really, really, really is a
- 20:24Speaker 1: goal getter and he's gonna make it happen. But he
- 20:27Speaker 1: still has this underlining just morality thing like I'm gonna
- 20:31Speaker 1: do it, but a going to do it by enemies, necessary,
- 20:35Speaker 1: gonna sacrifice, and I want to do it right. But
- 20:38Speaker 1: she also asked you. She also comes back and ask you,
- 20:40Speaker 1: this is what you really want? Okay? Yeah, she challenges
- 20:44Speaker 1: you because she said, once you get in, you're not
- 20:47Speaker 1: gonna want to go back, and there's a lot of work.
- 20:50Speaker 1: She reminds you that there is still work. It looks good,
- 20:54Speaker 1: it's it's worked to entertain, it's work to make them
- 20:58Speaker 1: develop this clientele. That's the the of this whole conversation
- 21:01Speaker 1: is that no matter what you do in life. That's
- 21:04Speaker 1: why I was able to take portions of the story
- 21:06Speaker 1: and applied if you want to be a banker, if
- 21:08Speaker 1: you want to be an engineer, you want to go
- 21:09Speaker 1: to college, if if that's what you wanna do, you
- 21:13Speaker 1: you pointed your life in that direction. Work is tied
- 21:16Speaker 1: to it. And that's the same thing with your career.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Despite setbacks, being homeless three times, being in a place
- 21:23Speaker 1: with U living with two people and on one bear
- 21:25Speaker 1: room which are similar to the halfway house, or you
- 21:28Speaker 1: had no problem with somebody is sleeping in the room
- 21:30Speaker 1: with you because that was a familiar consciousness. That's why
- 21:33Speaker 1: I feel confordable with your character now that it is out,
- 21:36Speaker 1: you know, the premier September nine, How has the public
- 21:39Speaker 1: reacted to your character and to the show man. I
- 21:43Speaker 1: will be honest with you and say that, um, we
- 21:47Speaker 1: had a brief chance to speak before we went live,
- 21:50Speaker 1: and the reactions have been so overwhelmingly positive. Right, it's such,
- 21:55Speaker 1: it's so gratifying. I literally walk around and I've been
- 22:01Speaker 1: in Atlanta for the past week and people say, oh,
- 22:04Speaker 1: that's up, and some people and some people get offended
- 22:09Speaker 1: about that. I don't I've done at all because last
- 22:12Speaker 1: year I was parking cars. I was valet parking cars
- 22:15Speaker 1: from seven pm at night to in the morning so
- 22:18Speaker 1: I could audition in the daytime to be able to
- 22:20Speaker 1: be blessed enough to get a role that actually um
- 22:25Speaker 1: has impacted people like I've forgotten countless DM say, Hey,
- 22:29Speaker 1: your story and your struggle has inspired me. Your character
- 22:34Speaker 1: inspires me because going back to what you said, anything
- 22:37Speaker 1: you want, you can do it, but it requires a
- 22:39Speaker 1: level of work and sacrifice, and you have to be
- 22:42Speaker 1: okay with the working hard and sacrifice. That's really important
- 22:46Speaker 1: to understand that. You know, let's let's talk about the
- 22:49Speaker 1: shift to this career here. You know, you know you're
- 22:52Speaker 1: a good looking guy. Are you in shape? You know?
- 22:55Speaker 1: You know? And now you're on now, You're on Now
- 22:57Speaker 1: You're on the TV show where you really got to
- 22:58Speaker 1: be in shape because the guys like for real, man,
- 23:03Speaker 1: for real, you know because you you look at guys, guys,
- 23:06Speaker 1: but you know when you walked in the room when okay, okay,
- 23:09Speaker 1: I got I gotta do a little bit more work
- 23:10Speaker 1: with these guys around me because they know I got
- 23:13Speaker 1: trainers after this, Hey, man, I said, I said, boy,
- 23:23Speaker 1: I said, that's why. That's why I enjoyed Man. And
- 23:26Speaker 1: I'll be wrong if I don't bring up Trouble. If
- 23:30Speaker 1: I don't bring up the Trouble character, we have not
- 23:32Speaker 1: done this interview correctly. I apologize. She's in. She's one
- 23:37Speaker 1: of the sweetest, sweetest people you ever wanted me. She's incredible. Yea,
- 23:41Speaker 1: And Trouble is a character that comes into the show.
- 23:43Speaker 1: She's a female that you don't want to miss. Um Again,
- 23:47Speaker 1: the show is diverse. It allows you to share different lifestyles,
- 23:53Speaker 1: accept different lifestyles, laugh at different lifestyle be brought into
- 23:58Speaker 1: the emotional mistakes that we make, not only the lead character, Madam,
- 24:04Speaker 1: but also the relationship that Blue has, and also the
- 24:08Speaker 1: relationship the decisions not only that the main characters make
- 24:11Speaker 1: on the show, but the the the co starring characters
- 24:15Speaker 1: make on the show. That's what I really like about
- 24:17Speaker 1: the show. I really like the fact that, uh, for
- 24:20Speaker 1: me to on a Sunday afternoon. I'm just telling you
- 24:22Speaker 1: for real, now, I'm not a guy who likes to just,
- 24:25Speaker 1: you know, just sit down and watch show after show
- 24:27Speaker 1: the show. I was brody. I if it would have
- 24:30Speaker 1: been eleven, twelve, thirty four, I probably would have watched them.
- 24:33Speaker 1: I probably would. But Tim was it. Ten is an
- 24:36Speaker 1: incredible number. So I gotta ask you that. Okay, we's
- 24:41Speaker 1: ten through twenty. Okay, well we're leveling through twenty. Where's
- 24:43Speaker 1: going on with that? Man, don't do me wrong? Now
- 24:45Speaker 1: say something crazy? Well, I guess that is up to
- 24:48Speaker 1: the people. Okay, And if y'all keep streaming to keep
- 24:51Speaker 1: watching it, y'all will prey to God from mine from
- 24:55Speaker 1: y'all wants to gods. Is in my mouth to God's is.
- 24:58Speaker 1: Get Tim through twenty and see in two, three, four
- 25:00Speaker 1: or five six seven, Like you know, um, anything, it's possible.
- 25:04Speaker 1: But I do know that it's getting an overwhelmingly positive
- 25:08Speaker 1: response and everybody's happy. So when everybody's happy, that's a
- 25:13Speaker 1: sign for soon hoping to contuning. You know, I'm waiting too.
- 25:18Speaker 1: I'm like, you know, all this This is a very
- 25:23Speaker 1: physical show, you know, very touched, very close. We know
- 25:26Speaker 1: by COVID, we know about that the standards that Tyler
- 25:29Speaker 1: Perry himself implemented at the studio that he does. How
- 25:33Speaker 1: was this tape and how was the testing process to
- 25:36Speaker 1: make everybody in the cast feel comfortable? Um, so that
- 25:41Speaker 1: you know, it's crazy. I never feel the show outside
- 25:43Speaker 1: of COVID. When my career really kicked off, it started
- 25:47Speaker 1: with Sisters. So by the time I shot all the
- 25:50Speaker 1: Queen's Men, I had already film systems, so I was
- 25:54Speaker 1: very used to being comfortable at Tyler Perry Studios. I
- 25:57Speaker 1: always say Tyler perry Sudios for me is like a
- 25:59Speaker 1: dog did because, um, it's the safest place on earth,
- 26:06Speaker 1: because we tested even before we left our home states.
- 26:10Speaker 1: We had to quarantine and test. Then we had another
- 26:13Speaker 1: test before we got on the plane twenty fours before
- 26:15Speaker 1: then we had another test soon as we got there. Um,
- 26:18Speaker 1: then we were sequestered to our own separate areas, and
- 26:21Speaker 1: then we tested literally I think every two to four days.
- 26:25Speaker 1: And now it's even testing more frequently just because you
- 26:28Speaker 1: know the various um delta variants and all that stuff.
- 26:31Speaker 1: So you feel completely safe, and we were not allowed
- 26:34Speaker 1: to be outside of the actual studio property, so we
- 26:39Speaker 1: had everything you could be war I mean food trucks.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Tyler was even generous enough to give us after wrapping.
- 26:48Speaker 1: It was only after wrapping for two hours still alcohol
- 26:51Speaker 1: truck um and catering on catering grocery stores. So it
- 26:55Speaker 1: was very comfortable. Like nobody felt any kind of There
- 27:00Speaker 1: was no point, at no point where you scared or
- 27:02Speaker 1: felt you were at risk. So it was incredible. I personally,
- 27:06Speaker 1: I like that way. I don't want to well, you
- 27:11Speaker 1: know the thing about watching your character, watching you develop,
- 27:14Speaker 1: and uh, first of all, I'm I'm gonna do my duty,
- 27:17Speaker 1: you know, and tell im I'm gonna feature on my
- 27:19Speaker 1: Motivational Monday segment because your story is a as a
- 27:23Speaker 1: dancer and h ballet training with Mr Copeland, the famous
- 27:28Speaker 1: ballet living based out of New York, you know, being
- 27:32Speaker 1: able to share this state the lime light has already
- 27:33Speaker 1: have been there. But I want to just talk about
- 27:35Speaker 1: making that transition because sometimes we get focused in this
- 27:38Speaker 1: is what I do, and then somebody comes along into
- 27:40Speaker 1: your life and say, you know you can do more. Indeed,
- 27:43Speaker 1: but sometimes that doubt comes into our lives and say
- 27:46Speaker 1: why you are well, because that means that you're you're
- 27:49Speaker 1: going into an unknown and that's what stops people. The
- 27:51Speaker 1: unknown part. Now, Debbie Allen came into your life and
- 27:55Speaker 1: push you talk about that, and so people who are
- 27:58Speaker 1: listening and watching the showing understand the value of people
- 28:02Speaker 1: seeing a person's greatness and then acts asking them to
- 28:06Speaker 1: act on it. Yeah. So, um, some years ago when
- 28:11Speaker 1: I um, when I used to ask the rod carry
- 28:14Speaker 1: Mrs Allen was the artist and director and choreographer, and
- 28:19Speaker 1: even before that I had done some work with her
- 28:21Speaker 1: and she slipped at me and she said, honey, you're
- 28:25Speaker 1: an actor. I'm gonna make you an actor. And I said, now,
- 28:28Speaker 1: you're not. That's not me. She said, honey, you don't
- 28:30Speaker 1: know who you are yet. And she was so right,
- 28:33Speaker 1: and she literally from the beginning she took me under
- 28:37Speaker 1: her wing and she gave me parts in her stage place,
- 28:41Speaker 1: and it was it became this kind of like, oh,
- 28:44Speaker 1: this is cool. But then with the training and everything
- 28:48Speaker 1: like that, I started to find this kind of I'll
- 28:52Speaker 1: be honest, it became an obsession for me. And sometimes
- 28:56Speaker 1: I always put God first, and that's just me. Sometimes
- 29:00Speaker 1: you have to surrender to what you think you want
- 29:03Speaker 1: and follow what will God has for you in your life.
- 29:09Speaker 1: And I always say when I pray, specifics matter because
- 29:13Speaker 1: I remember being a kid and I was like, I
- 29:15Speaker 1: want to be on TV. I want to be a star,
- 29:17Speaker 1: I want to do it up and actually I wanted
- 29:20Speaker 1: to sing. But when I prayed, I prayed, I said,
- 29:23Speaker 1: I want to be on TV and that was my destiny.
- 29:28Speaker 1: And I felt like God gave me an angel in
- 29:32Speaker 1: Debbie Allen to notice what was already going to be
- 29:35Speaker 1: my destiny down the line and walk fully in purpose.
- 29:38Speaker 1: And I'm a true believer of that, and it is
- 29:42Speaker 1: the best feeling ever. I never personally planned to be
- 29:46Speaker 1: an actor, but I'm so glad that I was able
- 29:50Speaker 1: to acquiesce to the prayer for my life and and
- 29:55Speaker 1: and after I acquiesce, I'm not gonna say it was easy,
- 29:58Speaker 1: because there's a lot of nose, there's an the rejection,
- 30:00Speaker 1: there's a lot of this. Like again, nothing worth happening
- 30:03Speaker 1: is easy. Nobody makes it. Overnight, I was watching an
- 30:06Speaker 1: interview with Denzelians and years of being over that success
- 30:10Speaker 1: and it took, and it took me about so um
- 30:18Speaker 1: again sometimes you gotta listen. You gotta listen. When you
- 30:23Speaker 1: do listen, keep going. Yeah, I hope you all of
- 30:26Speaker 1: you listening to me. Man Great, you're super talented, you're handsome,
- 30:32Speaker 1: you're humble. It comes across on the screen and uh,
- 30:37Speaker 1: you gotta probably out there. Man. I was, you know,
- 30:40Speaker 1: thoroughly entertained. And you know, I'm just so happy that
- 30:43Speaker 1: television is allowed with the streaming platforms allowed for black
- 30:46Speaker 1: content to be shown like this. Because we was under
- 30:49Speaker 1: the old four Man great, content like this would not
- 30:51Speaker 1: be seen because he was in the streaming allows this
- 30:54Speaker 1: format to come out, you know, all the Queen's men,
- 30:57Speaker 1: you know, my man Sky that's the black is a Star, Okay,
- 31:02Speaker 1: And ten episodes I watched one after the other. After that,
- 31:06Speaker 1: I laughed. I was entertained. I was like, man, this
- 31:10Speaker 1: is really really good. And and thank you man for
- 31:12Speaker 1: coming on money for a good conversations. So thank you
- 31:14Speaker 1: for having me now. I'm so grateful. I am so
- 31:17Speaker 1: grateful for your time because I know, you know, everybody

- 31:21Speaker 1: the morning to talk to you. I appreciate it. Oh no,
- 31:23Speaker 1: it was worth it because I, like I said, man,
- 31:25Speaker 1: I would like said, I always a joy what I do, man,
- 31:27Speaker 1: but I always have a good My energy level goes
- 31:29Speaker 1: up when I see young talent like you that that
- 31:32Speaker 1: I involved in really really cool project. I think that
- 31:35Speaker 1: a groundbreaking I think this is a groundbreaking series. And
- 31:38Speaker 1: to see the guys and definitely I'm gonna reach out
- 31:40Speaker 1: to get more of them on my show so I
- 31:42Speaker 1: can help promote this. I wanted renew. That's my goal.
