Latest / The Ben Ferguson Podcast / Terrorist Attack in America Again
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome. It is the Ben Ferguson Podcast, and we've got
- 0:03Speaker 1: a lot of breaking news, a lot of information that
- 0:07Speaker 1: I want to get to you. Center Cruz and I
- 0:09Speaker 1: did a podcast together, a joint podcast with the latest
- 0:13Speaker 1: news we have, and I want to bring that to
- 0:15Speaker 1: you now. Things may change, and I want you to know,
- 0:18Speaker 1: as I'm saying this to you right now, it's ten
- 0:21Speaker 1: oh six Eastern time on New Year's Day, so some
- 0:25Speaker 1: of you may be listening to different points and looks.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Some of this info may change. Just want you to
- 0:30Speaker 1: understand that. But this is the latest that we know
- 0:32Speaker 1: from the federal response, local information from New Orleans, from
- 0:36Speaker 1: Vegas with a Tesla that blew up rented on turow.
- 0:40Speaker 1: The app there the same as the truck that was
- 0:43Speaker 1: runned by turo in New Orleans. Is there connection there?
- 0:46Speaker 1: Officials are eyeing a link in the Trump hotel blast
- 0:49Speaker 1: and the truck attack. Is what Biden has said at
- 0:51Speaker 1: his press conference. We're also going to play for you
- 0:53Speaker 1: Joe Biden's words and what he said to the nation
- 0:56Speaker 1: from Camp David as we are starting to piece more
- 1:00Speaker 1: of this together. The latest death count, though in New
- 1:03Speaker 1: Orleans is fifteen, with dozens more injured, and we will
- 1:08Speaker 1: break down that attack, who this individual is, all of
- 1:12Speaker 1: that for you right now, Senator, this has a connection
- 1:16Speaker 1: obviously to Texas. Many of us were celebrating New Year's Eve.
- 1:21Speaker 1: You were down at mar A Lago. I was with
- 1:23Speaker 1: my family at the beach, and then we see and
- 1:25Speaker 1: wake up to this news breaking. And I want to
- 1:27Speaker 1: timestamp this for people to understand when we're recording this.
- 1:30Speaker 1: We're recording this at nine thirty Eastern time on Wednesday,
- 1:35Speaker 1: so much of this may change. So I just want
- 1:37Speaker 1: you to know when we started this, but I want
- 1:39Speaker 1: to get your initial reaction to what we've witnessed.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Well, we're less than twenty four hours out from the
- 1:45Speaker 2: United States once again saying a significant terrorist attack on
- 1:49Speaker 2: US soil. At three point fifteen in the morning New
- 1:53Speaker 2: Year's Day, forty two year old Shamsad Din baharjab who
- 2:01Speaker 2: is a US citizen a Texas resident, he drove a
- 2:05Speaker 2: white pickup truck into people celebrating on Bourbon Street. Jabbar
- 2:10Speaker 2: was born in Beaumont, Texas. He resides in Houston, your
- 2:13Speaker 2: hometown and my hometown, and he was an Army veteran.
- 2:19Speaker 2: As we talked today, Fifteen people have been killed and
- 2:26Speaker 2: several dozen more have been injured. And I will say,
- 2:31Speaker 2: as is the nature of any fast breaking crisis and
- 2:34Speaker 2: fast breaking news story, the news that is available is
- 2:38Speaker 2: rapidly moving. It is changing. So we're going to talk
- 2:42Speaker 2: about what's happening, what we know now, but with the
- 2:44Speaker 2: caveat that, we can fully expect the information we know
- 2:48Speaker 2: on this to change and very possibly changed significantly in
- 2:53Speaker 2: the days and weeks to come. We're less than twenty
- 2:55Speaker 2: four hours out from this attack, but what we know
- 2:58Speaker 2: now is deeply, deeply disturbing. It has been reported that
- 3:04Speaker 2: this army veteran drove the pickup truck deliberately into a
- 3:08Speaker 2: crowd of revelers with the intent of killing and harming
- 3:13Speaker 2: as many people as possible. It's also been reported that
- 3:17Speaker 2: the pickup truck was flying an ISIS flag and that
- 3:22Speaker 2: Jabbar was inspired by ISIS. Simultaneously, we have a Tesla
- 3:31Speaker 2: cyber truck that exploded in front of the Trump Hotel
- 3:34Speaker 2: in Las Vegas, killing one injuring several The one who
- 3:39Speaker 2: was killed was the driver. It is not confirmed that
- 3:43Speaker 2: those two are linked, but both occurred early in the
- 3:47Speaker 2: morning on New Year's Day, and America is now dealing
- 3:51Speaker 2: with the aftermath of one or potentially two terrorist attacks,
- 3:57Speaker 2: finding out who's responsible, finding out if additional actors were responsible.
- 4:02Speaker 2: There have been multiple reports of additional individuals potentially placing IEDs,
- 4:09Speaker 2: and at this point, the entire country is reeling from
- 4:13Speaker 2: this attack.
- 4:15Speaker 1: It is really sad. And this goes back to the
- 4:18Speaker 1: bigger concern that we've worried about on the show and
- 4:22Speaker 1: talked about, and it's something that I think so many
- 4:25Speaker 1: Americans felt. You had a wide open southern border, You
- 4:29Speaker 1: had a lot of people that have been able to
- 4:32Speaker 1: come across the Southern border that were caught, that were
- 4:34Speaker 1: on the terrorists watch lists. You have law enforcement that
- 4:38Speaker 1: I think it's pretty fair to say, is stretched extremely
- 4:40Speaker 1: thin when you're having to deal with a wide open
- 4:43Speaker 1: southern border and what is coming across that southern border
- 4:46Speaker 1: and this individual being an American citizen and being a
- 4:51Speaker 1: Texan as you described it, The real problem can be
- 4:55Speaker 1: that we are stretched so thin with so many possibilities
- 4:58Speaker 1: out there that this this is one of those examples
- 5:01Speaker 1: of when we've had this open door policy. Law enforcement
- 5:06Speaker 1: is doing the maybe in many cases, the best they can,
- 5:09Speaker 1: and they just don't have the time or the resources
- 5:11Speaker 1: they need to focus in on these types of threats.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Well, that is tragically correct, and on this podcast we
- 5:18Speaker 2: have been predicting for months now that the odds of
- 5:23Speaker 2: a major terrorist attack in the United States were higher
- 5:27Speaker 2: than they have been at any time since September eleventh,
- 5:30Speaker 2: and unfortunately, this morning's tragic events confirms that now in
- 5:35Speaker 2: this instance, the facts are still coming out. What we
- 5:39Speaker 2: know about Jabbar according to the Army Liaison's Office and
- 5:42Speaker 2: what he has told what they have released. He served
- 5:45Speaker 2: in the Army from two thousand and six to twenty twenty,
- 5:50Speaker 2: including approximately nine years of active duty service. He held
- 5:54Speaker 2: specialties in HR and IT. He was born in Beaumont, Texas.
- 6:03Speaker 2: He deployed in Afghanistan from two thousand and nine to
- 6:06Speaker 2: twenty ten. He was in the Army Reserve from twenty
- 6:11Speaker 2: fifteen to twenty twenty, and he was discharged in twenty
- 6:14Speaker 2: twenty with an honorable discharge for unsatisfactory participation. That much
- 6:20Speaker 2: we know. We also know that in his truck were
- 6:27Speaker 2: found explosive devices. Explosive devices including two pipe bombs that
- 6:35Speaker 2: were concealed within coolers and wired for remote detonation. That's
- 6:39Speaker 2: according to the Louisiana State Police and the pickup truck.
- 6:48Speaker 2: The pickup truck its origin, there has been conflicting reporting
- 6:53Speaker 2: on it, so earlier today it was reported that the
- 6:59Speaker 2: truck used in the New Orleans attack came through the
- 7:02Speaker 2: southern border. The Daily Wire reported that early today. Fox
- 7:07Speaker 2: News reported that the truck entered the US two days ago,
- 7:11Speaker 2: but they then updated their story to report that the
- 7:15Speaker 2: truck crossed the southern border on November sixteenth. So November sixteenth,
- 7:21Speaker 2: a month and a half ago, apparently the truck crossed
- 7:23Speaker 2: the southern border. It has also now been reported that
- 7:28Speaker 2: the truck in New Orleans was rented using the Touro app.
- 7:32Speaker 2: The turou app is a peer to peer app, and
- 7:35Speaker 2: one of the strange details that has been reported is
- 7:39Speaker 2: that both the truck in New Orleans and the cyber
- 7:43Speaker 2: truck in Los Angeles, in Las Vegas, rather we're both
- 7:47Speaker 2: rented using the tourou app. That may simply be a coincidence,
- 7:52Speaker 2: it may be something more, but what has been reported.
- 7:56Speaker 2: The New York Times is reporting that both were were
- 8:01Speaker 2: using Toro. Toro itself put out a statement that said
- 8:05Speaker 2: that it was quote actively partnering with law enforcement authorities
- 8:09Speaker 2: as they investigate both incidents. They also said, quote, we
- 8:13Speaker 2: do not believe that either rent or involved in the
- 8:15Speaker 2: Las Vegas or New Orleans attacks had a criminal background
- 8:18Speaker 2: that would have identified them as a security threat threat.
- 8:23Speaker 2: It's not clear as we sit here today the full
- 8:26Speaker 2: details of that, but those are the breaking details as
- 8:31Speaker 2: of nine forty one PM.
- 8:33Speaker 1: I want to go back to a headline real quick,
- 8:35Speaker 1: and then I also want to play for everybody what
- 8:37Speaker 1: Joe Biden said. But this was a headline that you
- 8:40Speaker 1: and I talked about and warned about, and it was
- 8:43Speaker 1: from the New York Posts October the twenty third of
- 8:47Speaker 1: twenty twenty four, and it said border agents caught three
- 8:51Speaker 1: hundred migrants with terrorist ties, including ISIS, and it's still
- 8:56Speaker 1: incredibly easy for them to enter the US. This report
- 9:02Speaker 1: came out October the twenty third, So we're talking a
- 9:06Speaker 1: couple of months ago, and you and I, and that's
- 9:09Speaker 1: when you really talked about you felt like there was
- 9:12Speaker 1: a real chance that something like this could happen because
- 9:17Speaker 1: of the of the idea that we have so many
- 9:20Speaker 1: resources spread all over the place. When you look ahead
- 9:24Speaker 1: to January twentieth, and Donald Trump coming in, does this
- 9:27Speaker 1: now clearly become a top priority on the issue of
- 9:30Speaker 1: border security because it's a national security issue very much,
- 9:33Speaker 1: and getting back to doing the way that we used
- 9:36Speaker 1: to deal with whether it was domestic or homegrown or
- 9:39Speaker 1: foreign terrorism.
- 9:41Speaker 2: One of the things that is maddening is even to
- 9:44Speaker 2: this day, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and the Democrats
- 9:48Speaker 2: refused to secure the border. Just a few weeks ago,
- 9:50Speaker 2: the Democrats held a hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee
- 9:54Speaker 2: on the horrors of mass deportations, not on the need
- 9:57Speaker 2: to secure the border, but on how terrible it was,
- 10:00Speaker 2: was that Trump is going to enforce the law. The
- 10:04Speaker 2: border will be secured. We are three weeks away from
- 10:08Speaker 2: an administration coming in that is going to be I believe,
- 10:12Speaker 2: absolutely serious and incredibly effective securing the border. But every
- 10:17Speaker 2: day that border is open, Americans are at greater risk.
- 10:21Speaker 2: And we're at risk number one, from terrorists crossing the
- 10:24Speaker 2: southern border, but number two, we're at risk from law enforcement,
- 10:29Speaker 2: the FBI, the federal government focusing on every other policy
- 10:34Speaker 2: and agenda item other than keeping the American people safe.
- 10:38Speaker 2: You know, I have to say one of the things
- 10:40Speaker 2: that was dismaying. Is the FBI. Right after this happened
- 10:44Speaker 2: in New Orleans, they went out and publicly said this
- 10:47Speaker 2: was not a terrorist attack. The New Orleans police disagreed
- 10:50Speaker 2: with that statement. The FBI has since gone on to
- 10:54Speaker 2: say they are investigating it as terrorism. But I got
- 10:57Speaker 2: to say, when a truck drives into a crowd waving
- 10:59Speaker 2: an I's flag, I don't know what the hell you
- 11:02Speaker 2: call it other than terrorism.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Yeah, And that I think is one of the things
- 11:06Speaker 1: that's so frustrating, and that moves us also to what
- 11:08Speaker 1: we witnessed today with the closed circuit TV footage of
- 11:12Speaker 1: this cyber truck that exploded in front of Trump Tower,
- 11:15Speaker 1: killing that driver. We're now being told by authorities there
- 11:19Speaker 1: that they said the driver the electric vehicle parked in
- 11:22Speaker 1: the valley area outside the hotel's lobby before it exploded
- 11:26Speaker 1: into flames. We've gotten a tweet from Elon Musk saying
- 11:31Speaker 1: that this was not in fact the batteries or a
- 11:34Speaker 1: malfunction of the car that so many immediately wanted to blame.
- 11:38Speaker 1: This was a Tesla accident that just happened to half
- 11:40Speaker 1: on the same day as this other attack at the
- 11:42Speaker 1: Trump Hotel in Las Vegas. They've now said definitively in
- 11:46Speaker 1: law enforcement, this was not any type of battery issue
- 11:49Speaker 1: or a malfunction. This was clearly done deliberately, and thank goodness,
- 11:54Speaker 1: no one besides that driver, from what we understand, died.
- 11:57Speaker 1: There were seven that were injured there, and this is
- 11:59Speaker 1: now being treated apparently as a other terrorist activity attack
- 12:05Speaker 1: in Las Vegas as well.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Well, that's right, and the details there that there's one
- 12:12Speaker 2: fatality from the Las Vegas explosion, and that was the
- 12:14Speaker 2: driver himself. The driver in New Orleans is also dead
- 12:19Speaker 2: from a shootout with the police. As soon as it happened,
- 12:23Speaker 2: the mayor of New Orleans, LaToya Cantrell, publicly described as
- 12:27Speaker 2: a terrorist attack. The police chief stated the driver's actions
- 12:31Speaker 2: were intentional. This was not a dui situation. According to
- 12:34Speaker 2: the chief, the driver was quote hell bent on creating carnage.
- 12:38Speaker 2: And yet, as I mentioned, the FBI spokesperson countered the
- 12:41Speaker 2: merit mayors claim moments later, stating it was quote not
- 12:46Speaker 2: a terrorist event. Here, give a listen, this is.
- 12:48Speaker 3: Not a terrorist event. What it is right now is
- 12:52Speaker 3: there improvised explosive devices that was found and we are
- 12:56Speaker 3: working on confirming if this is a viable device or not.
- 13:00Speaker 3: As Chief Kirkpatrick said, we're asking everyone to stay away
- 13:04Speaker 3: from Bourbon Street, specifically from Canal Street to Saint Anne.
- 13:08Speaker 3: That is my ask once again, stay away from Bourbon Street,
- 13:12Speaker 3: Canal Street all the way to Saint Anne until we
- 13:16Speaker 3: can figure out what is going on. Our goal is
- 13:19Speaker 3: provide you additional information at the eleven am press conference.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Thank you so much, and we will be in touch.
- 13:26Speaker 4: Yes, I will say that we want our community and
- 13:30Speaker 4: our visitors to continue and join. There's so much to
- 13:33Speaker 4: enjoy about New Orleans and we are going to make
- 13:38Speaker 4: sure that our routes and the super Dome are safe
- 13:42Speaker 4: today for the game. And yet we had this tragic
- 13:46Speaker 4: event and we're sorry again to everyone in our community.
- 13:51Speaker 2: But we do want you to.
- 13:52Speaker 4: Go about the day as we say, just stay away from.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Bourbon There's two parts of that center that I think
- 14:00Speaker 1: think are the most frustrating for many people that are listening.
- 14:03Speaker 1: One the out of touch with reality and you want
- 14:07Speaker 1: to have faith in law enforcement, but to come out
- 14:11Speaker 1: and in such a hardcore way, so this is not
- 14:13Speaker 1: a terrorist attack, not being treated like a terisa and
- 14:15Speaker 1: people are like, what's wrong with you? And The part
- 14:18Speaker 1: that also went viral after that was a tweet that
- 14:22Speaker 1: came out from the FBI New Orleans and it was
- 14:26Speaker 1: them having holding this summer a diversity agent recruitment event
- 14:30Speaker 1: and we want to meet you. This was DEI on
- 14:33Speaker 1: full display. We went diversity, inequity inclusion. And people say
- 14:38Speaker 1: this statement and then that tweet, and they say, what
- 14:42Speaker 1: is happening at the FBI.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Well, the FBI has in far too many instances not
- 14:48Speaker 2: kept their eye on the ball. And that is one
- 14:50Speaker 2: of the reasons that Donald Trump is coming into office
- 14:54Speaker 2: with an agenda of fundamentally reforming the Department of Justice
- 14:59Speaker 2: and the FBI getting it back focused on its core mission,
- 15:03Speaker 2: ending the weaponization, ending the politicization, and its core mission
- 15:07Speaker 2: includes preventing acts of terrorism. Now, in this instance, the
- 15:12Speaker 2: terrorist in New Orleans was an American citizen, so he
- 15:16Speaker 2: did not cross the border illegally, although apparently has truck did.
- 15:20Speaker 2: The truck he used across the border six six weeks ago. However,
- 15:26Speaker 2: we don't know the story of how he was radicalized.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Someone who was an Army veteran who served for many years,
- 15:32Speaker 2: who became a self described proponent of isis that is
- 15:37Speaker 2: something gone profoundly wrong, and it reminds me of Nadal Hassan.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Nadal Hassan, you'll recall, who murdered fourteen innocent souls at
- 15:48Speaker 2: Fort Hood. He was active duty military and he became radicalized,
- 15:51Speaker 2: and during the Obama administration that they knew that he
- 15:56Speaker 2: was communicating with the radical Islamic cleric and War Alilaki
- 16:01Speaker 2: and asking about the permissibility of waging jahad on his
- 16:05Speaker 2: fellow soldiers. And infuriatingly enough, the Obama Pentagon they had
- 16:10Speaker 2: those communications with Anwar Alilaki, and they did nothing to
- 16:17Speaker 2: stop Nadal Hassan from from committing that mass murder. That
- 16:23Speaker 2: they sat on that information, and we don't know if
- 16:26Speaker 2: there's any of that. We have no indication that there's
- 16:28Speaker 2: any of that information now. But I will say we're
- 16:31Speaker 2: dealing with another individual who is a soldier who apparently
- 16:36Speaker 2: became radicalized, and I think there's a real need for
- 16:40Speaker 2: transparency to figure out what happened. And I want to
- 16:43Speaker 2: play my colleague John Kennedy, Senator John Kennedy, a good
- 16:47Speaker 2: friend of mine. He's down in New Orleans now. I
- 16:49Speaker 2: want to play what he had to say because I
- 16:51Speaker 2: very much agree with with what he expressed on the
- 16:53Speaker 2: ground today.
- 16:54Speaker 5: I don't want to hear from anybody in the federal
- 16:56Speaker 5: government that they don't have the resources. Now Whitehouse, the FBI, Justice,
- 17:03Speaker 5: Homeland Security are in charge. Now we're cooperating with them.
- 17:07Speaker 5: I want to give them a reasonable period of time.
- 17:09Speaker 5: There's a lot of information out there, some of it
- 17:11Speaker 5: is actually true. I want to give them a reasonable
- 17:14Speaker 5: period of time, but they need to saddle.
- 17:17Speaker 6: Up and ride.
- 17:18Speaker 5: We need to find out what happened here, and it's
- 17:20Speaker 5: not going to be covered up. We're going to tell
- 17:22Speaker 5: the American people exactly what happened. I'm not interested in
- 17:28Speaker 5: placing blame or saying who is right or wrong. I
- 17:31Speaker 5: just want to catch the sons of bitches who did this.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Centator. I think that the sentiment that many are feeling
- 17:39Speaker 1: is exactly the way it was described by your colleague there,
- 17:43Speaker 1: the centator from Louisiana.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Well, Kennedy's absolutely right, and look, the priority number one
- 17:49Speaker 2: needs to be keeping people safe. Number two needs to
- 17:52Speaker 2: be catching anyone else involved in this where there are
- 17:56Speaker 2: other conspirators, Was this a broader plot? Number three needs
- 17:59Speaker 2: to be transparency, figuring out how did this come to pass?
- 18:03Speaker 2: Why was this not prevented. Why did nobody sound the
- 18:07Speaker 2: alarm that this guy was dangerous? That with this guy
- 18:10Speaker 2: was affiliating with? Isis that this guy was looking to
- 18:13Speaker 2: commit murder? All of those are questions that come out,
- 18:15Speaker 2: and I said, number one, though, is keeping people safe.
- 18:18Speaker 2: You know, one of the frustrating things about this attack
- 18:21Speaker 2: in New Orleans is that there were steel barricades on
- 18:24Speaker 2: Bourbon Street that were installed in twenty seventeen, and they
- 18:29Speaker 2: were installed to prevent terrorist attacks in the area. And
- 18:34Speaker 2: had the barricades been up, they clearly would have minimized
- 18:38Speaker 2: the carnage this morning. Unfortunately, the barricades were down. The
- 18:43Speaker 2: police chief said the barricades were in the process of
- 18:47Speaker 2: being replaced, and I will say that is tragic. And look,
- 18:50Speaker 2: we've got we've got Bowl games. They delayed the Sugar
- 18:54Speaker 2: Bowl for a day, but we've got football games across
- 18:56Speaker 2: the country. We've got all sorts of events across the country.
- 18:59Speaker 2: We've got the inauguration on January twentieth, and one of
- 19:03Speaker 2: the very important front and center needs to be keeping
- 19:07Speaker 2: people safe and preventing another terrorist attack. Just because one
- 19:10Speaker 2: happened doesn't mean we're not at risk. Of another one happening,
- 19:14Speaker 2: and that's why we need to be vigilant. Number one
- 19:17Speaker 2: keeping people safe, but number two tracking down everyone involved
- 19:22Speaker 2: in these horrible atrocities and then having full, full transparency
- 19:26Speaker 2: and doing everything we can to remove and to apprehend
- 19:30Speaker 2: potential ISIS terrorists before they take more lives.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Can we just talk for a moment about incompetency here,
- 19:41Speaker 1: because that's what everybody is thinking that I think is
- 19:43Speaker 1: listening right now, the majority are. I certainly am. And
- 19:46Speaker 1: when I talk about in commency, you just mentioned it.
- 19:48Speaker 1: It is New Year's Eve, Center, and this is when
- 19:51Speaker 1: I get angry. It's New Year's Eve. You have a
- 19:54Speaker 1: Sugar Bowl game that you've known about for a long
- 19:56Speaker 1: time and New Year's Eve, and you don't have the
- 20:00Speaker 1: barriers up that you know you need to keep people safe.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Because you say that you're getting them ready for the
- 20:07Speaker 1: super Bowl. Why wouldn't you have them ready for New
- 20:10Speaker 1: Year's Eve until the Super Bowl? Why is it that
- 20:13Speaker 1: it seems like every time we give government the funding
- 20:16Speaker 1: to do things like this and to protect people, there's
- 20:20Speaker 1: some excuse. And I go back to incompetancy. On what
- 20:23Speaker 1: we talked about just a few days ago, you look
- 20:26Speaker 1: at the Biden administration and the plea deal they gave
- 20:31Speaker 1: the mastermind of nine to eleven, Khalid Chaik Muhammad. What
- 20:34Speaker 1: message does that sin to terrorists around the world that
- 20:37Speaker 1: we will spare your life, we will not take your
- 20:41Speaker 1: life even if you're the master a mind nine eleven.
- 20:43Speaker 1: You combine these types of things, and I think there's
- 20:45Speaker 1: many Americans right now, and I say this with frustration
- 20:49Speaker 1: on behalf of many Americans that feel like they are
- 20:51Speaker 1: not being protected by this administration the way they should be,
- 20:56Speaker 1: and we're sending the wrong signals to the terrorists.
- 20:59Speaker 2: At the same time, well, we've had four years of
- 21:02Speaker 2: an open door, red carpet invitation for terrorists to come
- 21:05Speaker 2: across our southern border that has made us much much
- 21:08Speaker 2: less safe. We have also had law enforcement, including the FBI,
- 21:12Speaker 2: focused on political and partisan agendas instead of focusing on
- 21:17Speaker 2: the bad guys, stopping the bad guys before they commit
- 21:20Speaker 2: crimes like this. We will find out what information there
- 21:25Speaker 2: was that could have been used to prevent this attack.
- 21:27Speaker 2: We need to find that out, and even if the
- 21:29Speaker 2: Biden administration refuses to make it public and to be transparent,
- 21:34Speaker 2: I have significant confidence that the incoming Trump administration will
- 21:39Speaker 2: make that information public. And I got to say, look
- 21:42Speaker 2: for everyone who lost, for the fifteen people murdered this morning,
- 21:46Speaker 2: for the families of them, for the three dozen people
- 21:50Speaker 2: who were wounded, some very grievously wounded. I am sure
- 21:54Speaker 2: they are feeling a level of frustration and anger. They're
- 21:57Speaker 2: filling frustration with the city. Why weren't those barricks up.
- 22:00Speaker 2: The barricades should have been up. They were put in
- 22:03Speaker 2: in twenty seventeen. This risk was known New Year's Eve.
- 22:09Speaker 2: It's not like that's a surprising time for someone seeking
- 22:12Speaker 2: to do something horrible to target people. The eve of
- 22:16Speaker 2: the Sugar Bowl. That was another man.
- 22:17Speaker 1: There's a great example of that.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Yeah, and listen. One of the real dangers of terrorism.
- 22:23Speaker 2: You can have a big, elaborate plot of a dirty
- 22:27Speaker 2: bomb or attacking a nuclear reactor or something, but some
- 22:31Speaker 2: of the most frightening terrorism, and sadly, some of the
- 22:35Speaker 2: most effective terrorism, is very low tech. It is driving
- 22:39Speaker 2: a truck into a crowd. It is walking into a
- 22:42Speaker 2: shopping mall wearing a suicide vest. It is you know,
- 22:46Speaker 2: I was living in DC twenty some odd years ago
- 22:49Speaker 2: when the DC sniper was there and that was two
- 22:52Speaker 2: guys who drilled a hole in the trunk of their car,
- 22:55Speaker 2: drove around DC, parked and sat there with a rifle
- 22:57Speaker 2: and just shot people. And I'll tell you the the
- 23:00Speaker 2: entire city was terrified, was on edge, and there was
- 23:04Speaker 2: no no high tech involved in it. And and and
- 23:08Speaker 2: that vulnerability is very real, which is why we need
- 23:11Speaker 2: a proactive FBI. We need law enforcement that that that
- 23:16Speaker 2: is focusing on the bad guys and and and not
- 23:20Speaker 2: on every political agenda that that that that might be
- 23:23Speaker 2: the latest fashionable priority.
- 23:27Speaker 1: I want to wrap up with letting the country hear
- 23:30Speaker 1: Joe Biden. He did address the nation from Camp David
- 23:35Speaker 1: UH at seven o'clock on New Year's Day. As we
- 23:39Speaker 1: were recording this about two hours after that. And this
- 23:42Speaker 1: is what Joe Biden had to say, part of it,
- 23:44Speaker 1: at least about this attack. Take a list, and I
- 23:46Speaker 1: want to get your reaction.
- 23:48Speaker 7: Texas. He served in the United States Army on active
- 23:52Speaker 7: duty for many years. He also served in the Army
- 23:55Speaker 7: Reserve until a few years ago. If I also reported
- 23:59Speaker 7: to me that mere hours before the attack, he posted
- 24:03Speaker 7: videos on social media indicating that is inspired by ISIS,
- 24:08Speaker 7: especially the desire to kill the desire to kill the
- 24:12Speaker 7: ISIS flag was found in his vehicle, which he rented
- 24:15Speaker 7: to conduct this attack. Possible explosives are found in the
- 24:19Speaker 7: vehicle as well, and more explosive were found nearby. The
- 24:25Speaker 7: situation is very fluid, and the investigation has a preliminary stage.
- 24:30Speaker 7: And the fact is that right right now, excuse me,
- 24:36Speaker 7: there you go, the law enforcement and tells the community
- 24:40Speaker 7: are continuing to look for any connections, associations, are co conspirators.
- 24:47Speaker 7: We have nothing additionally report at this time. The investigation
- 24:50Speaker 7: is continuing to be active and no one should jump
- 24:53Speaker 7: to conclusions. I've directed my Attorney General, the FBI director,
- 25:00Speaker 7: the Secretary of Homeland Security, head a National counter intelligence
- 25:04Speaker 7: Terrorism Center, and the intelligence community to work on this
- 25:08Speaker 7: intensively until we have a full and complete information, and
- 25:12Speaker 7: once we have that information, I will share that information
- 25:16Speaker 7: as soon as we can confirm it. Additionally, we're tracking
- 25:21Speaker 7: the explosion of a cyber truck outside the Trump Hotel
- 25:24Speaker 7: in Las Vegas. Law enforcement and the intelligence community are
- 25:29Speaker 7: investigating this as well, including whether there's any possible connection
- 25:34Speaker 7: with the attacking New Orleans. Thus far, there's nothing to
- 25:37Speaker 7: report on that score at this time. I directed my
- 25:41Speaker 7: team to make sure every resource, every resource is made
- 25:45Speaker 7: available to federal, state, and local law enforcement to complete
- 25:49Speaker 7: the investigation in New Orleans quickly, and to make sure
- 25:52Speaker 7: there's no remaining threat.
- 25:55Speaker 1: You know, there's part of me that's like, Okay, I'm
- 25:58Speaker 1: glad that the president's out there saying this. There's another
- 26:00Speaker 1: part of me when he got lost and said excuse
- 26:03Speaker 1: me while reading that teleprompter. That was just a three
- 26:09Speaker 1: sixty moment of his entire time in the presidency. The
- 26:12Speaker 1: reporting that we talked about about his cognitive decline just
- 26:15Speaker 1: I think it was on the last pod. And yet
- 26:19Speaker 1: this is the guy who is in charge, and you
- 26:21Speaker 1: wonder why some of these things are happening. Well, he
- 26:23Speaker 1: gets lost in the teleprompter and has to apologize while
- 26:26Speaker 1: reading a prepared statement. And that's the type of leadership
- 26:30Speaker 1: we've had.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Well listen, I am glad the President gave that press
- 26:35Speaker 2: conference tonight. I'm glad he's speaking out. I think the
- 26:38Speaker 2: substance of what he said is right. I wish him,
- 26:43Speaker 2: I wish the Department of Justice and the FBI every
- 26:46Speaker 2: success and very quickly finding anyone involved in this, apprehending them,
- 26:51Speaker 2: focusing on it. There will be times. There is no
- 26:54Speaker 2: doubt that the horrible policies of this administration, the open
- 26:58Speaker 2: borders for four years, have contributed to making us less safe,
- 27:02Speaker 2: have contributed to increasing the likelihood of a terrorist attack.
- 27:06Speaker 2: But at this point, look, whether whether Joe Biden the
- 27:10Speaker 2: Democrats intend to be transparent or not, I am confident
- 27:12Speaker 2: the incoming administration will make this information public. It needs
- 27:16Speaker 2: to be public so there can be accountability for where
- 27:20Speaker 2: where the ball was dropped. Because at the end of
- 27:22Speaker 2: the day, this attack was not prevented tragically, and we
- 27:28Speaker 2: need to learn from that and and make sure we
- 27:32Speaker 2: we stop the next attack. But what I will say
- 27:35Speaker 2: tonight is that our prayers are with the families and
- 27:38Speaker 2: loved ones of those who were murdered earlier. Today, our
- 27:42Speaker 2: prayers are with all of the victims who were injured.
- 27:46Speaker 2: We are praying for their recovery, We're praying for their safety.
- 27:48Speaker 2: And I'll say to all of you, look, look, stay vigilance,
- 27:52Speaker 2: stay safe, and and and tonight, you know, give your
- 27:56Speaker 2: kids an extra hug and and and and remember you're
- 28:00Speaker 2: your family and those you love. Because it's a dangerous
- 28:02Speaker 2: world we live in right now.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Make sure you share a podcast wherever you can on
- 28:07Speaker 1: social media. We do this show every day on social media, so.
- 28:12Speaker 6: Make sure again grab it, download it, and if you
- 28:14Speaker 6: get to see our videos on social media, please share
- 28:17Speaker 6: them because, as you know, the big tech suppresses everything
- 28:22Speaker 6: we do here. And I'll see you back here tomorrow
